By way of brief background, the reader should know that this is a case where I needed a new auto policy because I was moving to a new state. I was encouraged by the association of the Allstate name with this company. I was also impressed by how quickly this company provided a quote that seemed to be reasonably competitive. Then they inexplicably started focusing on the name of some individual that they associated with my new address. Apparently, they suspected that this individual needed to be on the policy -- an individual certainly no longer at that address (if ever there). They also started questioning the validity of my new address that I had given them. What a state of confusion!

To be rid of all of this confusion, I was glad when I found that I did not need to cancel my current Allstate policy immediately. In the meantime, Esurance had taken the money to issue an auto policy, even while threatening to cancel because I could not satisfy them that my new home address was valid. When I asked for a refund, they tried to keep a pro-rated portion of the payment taken. I had to prove that the Allstate policy still was in effect. Then I had to provide proof that the Allstate policy was renewed for the next period. What a state of confusion! Besides, why try to keep a portion of the premium in these circumstances?

After I had sent an email indicating that I would review my experience online and get regulatory authorities involved if necessary, the full refund I expected was issued. This kind of customer service and way of doing business doesn't even make sense. What a state of confusion!

I was in an accident with someone who was insured by esurance. I had an error with the previous automatic payment to my own insurance company and ended up with a gap in insurance during the time of the accident (my mistake for not catching it sooner and making sure I was covered but I had an insurance card showing I was covered for months ahead so I thought I was ok). Anyway, esurance tried to bully me into taking partial responsibility for the accident and even used the fact that I wasn't insured as an argument for why I should take the settlement. Luckily, one of many witnesses came forward and esurance agreed they were 100% at fault.

Now I have been dealing with another person from esurance who also has such a bad attitude and talks down to me constantly. It is a shame that I have to work directly with them because it has been such a bad experience. It has been almost 3 months since the accident and nothing has been settled. They are now offering me $14K on my totaled car that I bought used 8 months prior to the accident for $22K. I still owe $19K on it. It is unbelievable to me that you can get into an accident that isn't your fault with an insured driver and not have damages covered. Additionally, I'm accruing costs on my rental car for every day that it is not settled.

Immediately after the accident I was in communication with the person who hit me. He told me it was extremely difficult to get a call back from his insurance company to get questions answered (several days at times). I can't speak for him to review the customer service since then, but it seemed like he was struggling dealing with them as well.

I was an Esurance customer for several years. All my renewals had no issues. When it came up for the first renewal after Allstate bought them out, I was told that they would not renew me. When I asked why, I was given some bs answer. I even pointed out that I never had renewal issues before and that this seems odd that after Allstate gets involved I'm dropped. They asked if there was anything else I needed help with and I told them that they have not answered my question to my satisfaction and they hung up.

I see ads for Esurance all over on tv in flyers and in the paper but when I went to the website to get a quote it says they are not available in my area. I guess I really don't understand how they can be an insurance company but not cover certain states. Sounds like a scam for Allstate to make a few extra bucks.

After noticing my monthly payment was not taken out this month, called only to find they dropped me. I had full coverage, never had a claim, never was late on a payment. My car is Co-signed by my father and they requested proof that he had his own insurance (which he does) and he had his agent email it over, a policy that was bundled with his homeownership policy. Esurance received this email and later apologized for not looking past the front page that said,"homeowner," but told my dad everything looked good. A month later they dropped me because they never looked past the front page and never saw he had his own insurance.

After discussing this issue with 4 different people, all they could come up with is reinstating my policy, for $56 more a month, and requesting $479 now. They refused to give me my old policy and refused to credit me any of the money that they made the mistake on. The supervisor was as worthless as the rest of the people I takes with, offering me nothing but a $56 increase because they messed up and dropped me from my policy, and having me pay $479 up front the reinstate. I would never recommended this co to anyone and I see why they are an "online" co because their people skills are god awful. Do yourself a favor and unless you like being stolen from keep looking. Btw, Progressive had my same policy for $40 less than my original policy, and I've heard Costco has great cheap policy's.

Signed up with Esurance as they quoted a significant discount over my previous carrier. One of their discounts included using their little DriveSense things in my vehicles. I told them from the get-go that one of the vehicles that was to receive the device is only driven a couple of times per month, and typically is driven no more than a couple of hundred miles per year. From the get-go, it has been an argument over this vehicle. They have been constantly trying to charge me additional money due to the limited use of this vehicle. Calls have been every couple of weeks in complaining about the handling of this policy. I'm done. These idiots can all spontaneously combust, and I wouldn't spit on them to help put out the fire. Fraudulent company, who just lost me as a customer.

Here we have this Insurance Co. That will tell you that they give you a discount if you have medical insurance, then Esurance says “well, we need proof of your medical insurance.” “Ok ,no problem.” But then they say “well, your medical insurance company must tell us that if you have an auto accident your medical insurance will cover you,” then your medical insurance tells them “yes, she is covered and she is the primary policy holder,” but as with any accident there would be an investigation, but if your medical insurance doesn't say they will cover you regardless of fault, Esurance will not give you the discount for having medical insurance. False advertising and not good business. Don't do esurance because they lie.

March 29th I hit a deer. I carry comprehensive insurance. I called Esurance and filed a claim. I own a 2008 Suzuki Forenza, which is still under manufacturing warranty. Five months ago, I had a new transmission installed and battery. Yet esurance insisted the car should be totaled. They offered me less than $4500. I refused that robbery. They then told me they spent $200 to $300 for a private company to make a comparable report. This company, CCC, supposedly came up with the same $ amount. If I had a problem, I would have to produce receipts for the work done on the car. I sent them that.

Next they wanted me to tell them where I looked for a replacement car. I gave them the web site. There was a 2006 Suzuki forenza for $7100.00 and a few other cars similar between 6 and 7 thousand. After seeing this they still refused to give me a fair price. Now they are telling me I have to pay an appraiser $200 to $300 and that they will consider his results. They were also going to hire an appraiser. Why do they have to hire another appraiser, if they are so confident they have good numbers? Oh, to add insult to injury, they told me they found a car just like mine for $4500. I told them I saw that car for sale and it has a manual transmission, where mine is an automatic. Also, I have an mp3 and that car doesn't. The agent knew all this but hoped I didn't.

At this point, the agent offered me $5200. I will accept nothing at this point but a replacement car of equal value. It is obvious, they don't care about the consumer. I just started using them as my home insurance and I plan to find a different company and cancel with them. The last thing that seemed odd was their insistence to have my title and take my car. They are car thieves with a good cover. Warn everyone you see.

To save money I switched. I have had nothing but problems with them since day one. The latest, today, was the last straw. I participated in their drivesense program. The day I got the devices I placed them in my cars. I got an email today saying that I have been cancelled off the drivesense discount program because I have not installed the devices. I called and was told to unplug and replug the devices in the cars over the weekend and if they received the data on Monday they would credit back the $200 restocking fee they charged me! Restocking fee?? I did everything they asked and because they didn't get any data they already charged me a restocking fee??? Stay far far away from this company.

I recently called Esurance to add a friend as an international driver. They said they can't accept an international license. So I said, ok, no worries, he will get his California license soon and I will call back with the info. So after this call, I received emails and phone calls from Esurance asking questions about this "international driver". Now, let’s be clear, I told them on the phone to forget it and let me call back when the California license is acquired. However, they call and call and email. Then I get a cancellation email. Yes, a cancellation threat - because I didn't call them back. When I called them about the cancellation everyone, the rep on the phone and the manager had this tone that it's of no surprise. I spoke with the manager **, she said if you say the word "additional driver" they will automatically start a process of asking more questions or cancel your policy if questions aren't answered.

Has anyone heard of such lunacy and unprofessionalism in a business process? So you make sure to inconvenience the customer if you have business process challenges - rather than improving your business process and taking responsibility. Good thing Esurance is focused on technology and it's obvious, because when it comes to the human element they are clearly lacking an understanding of good business practice. And I hope ** gets reviewed by management. She repeated herself to me like a broken record and didn't seem to be very bright or understanding. How hard is it to understand that if the customer says don't worry about something then that means - let it go - forget it - let me get back to you...

I went online to get an auto insurance quote yesterday. After a few basic questions, I was given a quote of $225/six months. I was having trouble navigating the page and figuring out exactly what coverage was included in that quote so I called customer service. The customer service agent verified the information I had given and asked a few additional questions including whether or not I would like collision and comprehensive coverage (which was not even asked in the original questions online). I answered yes to both. She then asked what I would like my deductible to be. I told her $1000. She confirmed the quote of $225 and promptly asked if I would like to pay with debit or credit. Being skeptical due to the fact this was significantly lower than all the previous quotes I received, I asked her to verify the coverage included. At this point, she started to sound annoyed and answered simply 'it includes everything we talked about'.

I responded 'so that's including comprehensive and collision with the $1000 deductible'? Again, she said yes and asked how I would like to pay. I told her I was going to continue getting quotes and thanked her for her time and she responded with a condensing laugh and 'Kaaaaay', obviously annoyed for having to spend any time answering questions that didn't result in a sale. Wanting to sign up online so I had something in writing, I went back to the website and started another quote. This time I was able to find the page that detailed the coverage and allowed you to tweak it to your needs. I put in everything I discussed with the representative but this time got a quote of $287. Frustrated, I called customer service again to question the discrepancy. This time, I got a very helpful gentleman that figured out the quote the first representative had given me was for liability only.

I was astounded considering I had asked her to verify the coverage at least twice. I truly believe she was trying to get me to sign up with the attractive price and telling me I would have more coverage than the plan actually included. Could you imagine if something had happened and I tried to make a claim only to be told I have only been paying for liability? It would've been a devastating blow. Be very careful with this company.

I purchased car insurance in January 2015 when I bought my new car. They gladly accepted my $1500 or so for the half year insurance to June. In mid-February, they sent me an email and told me my policy would be cancelled on March 13th if I did not have a Florida driver’s license. So I went to get a license and on the 10th of February sent them proof of my license. The next day they told me that I had to provide them with proof of my residential address and a letter stating that my father (who is listed on the trust which owns my house and who lives in Canada) is not a driver of the insured car. So I send them a bill from the Town of Lantana and a signed document attesting to the fact that my father will not drive the car, as requested, on March 12th.

On the 13th, I receive a letter that my insurance is cancelled. I want to re-instate it, and they tell me they are so sorry, I will have to purchase new insurance. You then have to deal with phone reps with attitude, who show the company's true colors... condescending, dismissive, and sketchy. It takes time to have them correct this, and I presume that they believe that most won't bother, thereby enabling them to always keep a monthly payment in reserve. I have 4 children, and a beautiful home. It's caused havoc in my life and destroyed a savings account that shouldn't have. Why? I did nothing to you all.

I get it towed to shop - another person calls me and tells me I'm not covered - so great - I just paid for a tow. I didn't need to take it to a place to get work I can't afford. Although, we haven't had to file a claim yet. I felt I needed to tell you our experience regarding esurance so far. Raising rate for no reason? higher rates after renewals? rate hikes for late payments??? I honestly don't get it. At least here in MN, we've experienced no issues whatsoever with them, though they have certainly experienced issues with us as customers. Late payments, mostly, several times...we have received 2 cancellation notices from them in the mail, but have paid before the policy expired, with only a slight late fee, like 5 bucks or something. Same as a late payment fee. One can avoid the late payment fee, if you change the payment due date before or on the original due date, but only get 3 days grace period, usually enough for us.

We recently renewed our policy. 1st payment to renew was actually about 10 bucks less than our actual policy rate, and counted as our first month's premium. Never asked for it in advance, though was notified in advance. Then 2 months rate was the same as it always was. The only penalties we incurred was when we had to move the payment date past the allowed 3 day grace period of the original scheduled date. I like how you can change the payment date. It could be a little better sometimes because we can't always pay it within 3 days of the original date, so then we do get the late fee, but it's not bad at all, so??

Other insurance companies would have for sure raised our rates or kicked us to the curb, some at least. So it must either vary by state or there's a lot of people filing false negative reports here in some sort of smear campaign. Now if we ever do need to file a claim and they definitely screw us, only then will my opinion be swayed on this company. I don't believe everything I read, neither should you. Try them out. If they seem fishy, find another company then.

They claim they are a new insurance company for the modern world. Which if you want to be ripped off of your money, your premiums constantly going up, cannot seem to get a straight answer when you can reach someone by phone. We had Esurance which is my understanding us a part of Allstate which seems to be a conflict of interest, but we had them for about 2 yrs. I just turned 50, was tired of the increasing premiums and got a policy through AARP to go in effect when my Esurance policy ran out. Did all the right things. Contacted them to cancel my policy.

About a couple weeks later. My wife was leaving work, as she pulled out in a four lane highway, two lanes going each way. A van in the left lane, her pulled out in right lane. The van pulled over in front of her, slammed on brakes in middle of street causing her to swerve left but still catching the back end of an old van. Now I and her know the law about rear end collisions. But this was not really a rear end collision in that, they cut over in front of her and slammed on brakes and she had just pulled out from work street onto major street. No major damage much, or major harm to her. The van contained at least 6 illegal aliens, no driver's license, the van did not even belong to them.

But Esurance considered it a rear end collision and wants us to pay the $1000 deductible to get car fixed. They are a joke, they did not take into account anything that really happened. They just automatically blamed my wife without any defense for her. They want your money. But if you need them and can get in touch with them. Beware that you are automatically be considered at fault. My wife did not know if she was being carjacked or what? She was mad, scared, and shook up. We are in IN. The adjuster was in Wisconsin. He tore my wife up even more and upset her even more with his review and blaming her without any defense at all. Maybe if the car had been totaled and all the people in van were injured bad. He would have a different opinion!

Finally fed up I let them know enough is enough. I finally was given a Rent-a-Car and told the adjuster who was dealing with case was at lunch apparently for 3 days because that is who I had been calling and leaving messages for. From there it continued to be a nightmare. Long story short I had wife run title down to where it needed to be. Agent had told me as soon as he confirmed the title the money from my totaled vehicle would be in my bank account. But lo and behold I was told yes he confirmed but I had to wait till wrecker picked up car which could be or maybe Tuesday. It must be on wrecker to get my money.

Mind you this is Friday so I would need to wait 5 more days for money. The title was no longer in my possession, it was signed over and given. The money should have been deposited immediately. After calling, emailing and having my car insurance call and email of course we all got no answer. But luck would have it I made a comment on FB and a agent Saturday morning called and took care of me and deposited the money. The money of course should have been given Friday because there was nothing left for this transaction. Such a nice man. I couldn't believe how it was night and day compared to the NJ office. The employees I dealt with with the NJ office were extremely unprofessional. I can not say one nice thing about those people. They put me and my wife through the ringer just to get our money. I got into an accident in the middle of August 2015. The accident was my fault. My vehicle was in being diagnosed for future repairs and I was given a loaner vehicle for which I filled out paperwork for at the dealership. Notified esurance immediately following the accident. It boned another vehicle after running a stoplight I never saw and both vehicles were totaled. Two people were flown by helicopter to nearby hospitals and one was transported by ambulance. Thankfully no one was seriously injured. Esurance has not paid a dime as of yet to cover any damages to the vehicles or for medical bills.

They are telling me that I can't prove that my vehicle was at the shop for repairs because no repairs were actually made, it was only diagnosed and parts had to be ordered which I have explained to them 50 times. They are also saying that the insurance company from the dealership I had the loaner vehicle from is liable to pay all medical bills to all parties involved. Because esurance has dragged their feet one of the parties in my vehicle and the other party involved have hired attorneys and I am now being sued along with the dealership who provided me with the loaner.

Esurance is a racket and they obviously have no intention of paying anything out and they seem to be hanging me out to dry. So much for their quick claims process. I'll bet the ranch my premium goes up even though they haven't paid on this claim. Supposedly they are providing me with an attorney but I got a letter telling me that now they may not be providing me with said attorney. They are also terrible at returning phone calls, I sometimes go weeks without a return call. I now have to look into hiring my own personal attorney. What's the sense in having insurance if you aren't able to use it?

I was involved in an accident in my neighborhood with a minor pedestrian who ran from the side of a garage at night. My car had not even fully approached the area so I could not have seen him. He tried to stop, ran into side of my car and fell under it. He had some significant injuries, but admitted fault to the police. The police also investigated and said unfortunately I was at the wrong place at the wrong time and agreed I was not at fault. I did not receive a citation for this.

The mother of the boy filed a claim with esurance, gave false statements, and also had witnesses who gave false statements. The claim was denied until an attorney came into the picture. The lawyer accusations were absurd and defamatory against me; when I spoke to case manager he basically said he was going to give them a settlement. I fought with him, told him it was all false. He did not want to hear it, said it didn't matter!??!! said if a judgment was awarded it could be in excess of policy. I was refused a defense even though I had all the proof in my favor.

Esurance is paying the plaintiff $25000 and they are raising my rates and now this will be at fault. I have talked to several attorneys, and they have all said they have a right to settle if they feel appropriate. To this day, I am still searching for a lawyer, for I feel victimized by the insurance company. I guess if you want to get some money, file a false claim with an esurance policy holder.

There was some pre-existing scratches to outside of the vehicle and grill because he didn’t take care of the car, but nothing pre-existing under the car. They covered the scratches on the outside of vehicle and said the damage under the car, which had damaged the transmission of the Mercedes and ripped the wiper fluid tank was pre-existing damage and they refused to cover it.

The transmission of my car will cost at least $8,000 to repair and they will not even pay for the tear down for an assessment. They want me to pay for the tear down and will only cover it if they find themselves at fault – What a thieving bunch of criminals this company employs! I am now with Ameriprise through Costco who charges far less, and is a much better company. Do not make the mistake I did - Esurance is little more than a scam company pretending to insure your vehicles. I would have given zero stars but have to give them at least one. Purchased homeowner insurance through esurance, because I had recently switched car insurance to them too. Big mistake. They were not any cheaper, but had higher coverage than my existing policy. Turned out, the sales guy promised me a bunch of discounts that I did not qualify for. One of them was a "DIY appraisal". If your appraisal was less than a year old, you'd get about $100 off. I told him mine was 1 year and 7 days old at the time of the call. He explained he could not believe anyone was giving me trouble for that, and hence went on to include the discount in the quote.

Obviously, after 2 months, they claim my home appraisal was 7 days too old, and increased my premium. Called them up, and now they claim they never promised me they would accept it. I guess that's true, the rep only told me he could not believe they would not accept it, but it still feels pretty tricky. I would not have switched if it wasn't for the promised discount.

I first went with Esurance one year ago as they had the best rates of the companies I checked. The first renewal had an increase of over $100 but we had got a new car and sold the older one, so it was hard to see if the increase was justified or not. But for the latest renewal, I got the bill for more than $230. We had no claims, tickets or accidents. When I called, I was told it was because we had a late payment, which was not the case. I pointed it out and although the CSR tried to convince me that it was true, I was able to prove it by having him look at the records.

At this point he conceded and said he would have it corrected and I would get a new renewal amount. He also told me that the late payment penalty is around a 20% surcharge! Checking around, I didn't find any other companies with such a penalty. The new bill was not as high but still represented over $130 increase. When I called back they told me there had been a general rate increase.

So I started looking around for another company and found one that gave me a rate that was much lower than the original rate I paid one year ago with Esurance.

I immediately canceled with Esurance and am waiting for a refund for the remaining month. I was also surprised by the way they want you to pay for the renewal one month in advance, also something no other company does, to the best of my knowledge. I wish I had seen these reviews before I went with Esurance, and the best advice I can offer is to find somewhere else. The initial rate is just a low-ball to get you in.

I was very pleased with the experience I received with Esurance when I was T-Boned on November 10th 2013 at 5:30pm during the first snowfall of the season. I was driving home from work and the traffic was stop and go on the highway so I turned on my GPS and headed a different direction. Heading west my GPS lead me to a street with a stop sign that crossed over a 3 lane one way heading south. I sat and waited for a break in the stop and go traffic. It was dark and snowy- the 3rd lane looked like a shoulder off the road instead of a lane because no cars were actually driving in that lane.

The 1st line of cars noticed I was waiting for a good 10 minutes and stopped so I could drive by... but I couldn't because the 2nd lane of cars didn't.... until they saw the 1st lane stop. So both 1st and 2nd lane of cars stopped and gave me space to cross over. I waved thanks to them and out of the 3rd lane a brand new 2014 BMW nails my passenger side door deploying the airbags, bending my axle and totaling my car. I am pretty sure he was speeding for the conditions and especially for stop and go traffic happening in the 1st and 2nd lanes.

There was no time for the guy to break and it happened so quickly. My immediate reaction was to see if the driver was okay, so I got out of my car and ran towards him (noticing that I then had a limp). The man didn't say a word and just sat in his brand new car looking down at his deployed airbag. Once police arrived on scene, it was ruled my fault because he technically had the right of way and there was no way to tell if he was actually speeding. So, I received a ticket.

Esurance towed my car within 48hrs and gave me a rental the very next day. I never had to make a phone call to them, other than to report the accident. I had the rental for 10 days and they quickly determined the damage to the car with a very fair estimate. Not only that, but they continued to check up on me regarding my health to make sure all my medical payments would be taken care of. My payment came to me a week after I turned in the Title and other related documentation. In addition they were able to settle an agreement to cover all the damages to the brand new 2014 BMW (which initially they thought I would have to owe something- since my coverage went to $15,000). I know with reviews it's easier to complain, but I experienced such great service I found it my duty to add my review.

She was able to get me more of my refund, but they are still keeping $75 more than what they told was the cost of the week of coverage, which was $25. These people are literally robbing me! If they don't fix it, I will go to the state. I can't believe I fired these people and now I still have to be on the phone with them! I feel like this is never going to end.

I wish I had read these reviews before signing on with Esurance. Late October, I called them for a quote for my '10 Impala. They quoted me $135 and change, which I accepted. About a week later, they called me and stated the quote they gave me was wrong. The correct amount is now $140 something. I set it up on autopay. Come January, I see they hit my account for $822! I called them to ask what this was about. Can you say Run Around! The so-called customer service rep just fed me the company spiel about nothing they can do because they charged me for the entire 6 months. She started talking about some forms they emailed me that I didn’t receive. Transferred me to a supv, who tried to feed me the same crap; nothing they can do. She got cussed out!

Transferred me to some corporate hack who pretended to try to do something for me, though the result was the same; NOTHING! They had cancelled my policy and charged me for the rest of the premium! They absolutely refused to do anything about this for me! I even asked for the contact info for the CEO, Gary Tolman. Oh, he doesn't talk to "customers." I'm still working on this, but, in the meantime, STAY AWAY FROM ESURANCE UNLESS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT WASTING/LOSING YOUR MONEY!

I think I'm being generous when I grade Esurance with two stars but I wish to give them an ounce of credit for those new customers who just might not run into the gauntlet of effort and obstacles we went through to get our new vehicle covered and then have it declined. 1) Expect to do all the work yourself to get Esurance coverage. 2) Expect to speak to a human being only during daytime hours. 3) Expect Esurance to take money out of your account before you've even "officially" signed on with them. 4) Expect to send every type of verification by email and get confused by the myriad of email addresses they use. 5) Expect that they use their own online "official public" proof of your address and unless you have proof of your current address in the form of "only" a utility bill, your premium will be based on your previous address and there is NO WAY around this. 6) Expect that they will make no apology for kicking you to the curb and then you'll receive a cancellation email stating that they're sorry you're gone. I was shopping car insurance companies and came across Esurance because they were much lower than others that I was quoted, so I signed on with them. They mandated a car inspection on mine and my husband's brand new cars and said it was a Florida law. I had never had to do a CARCO inspection at any other company, but I figured, it's a way to keep the rates low so I went to the location they sent me to, on the day the inspection was due to find that this location no longer offered the inspections for Esurance. I called them and they basically said there was nothing they can do, and that I'd have a lapse in my coverage because I didn't get the inspection done in time - and after requesting an extension, they sent me notification that my insurance had lapsed. I had to take time off work to go to another location (that I had to find myself by calling around) and finally got that complete.

In addition, they require a first and last months payment of premium that you can use to pay your last month with them - however when I went to cancel my policy with them because the premium was increasing (with no driving accidents or incidents and excellent credit) they told me the would be charging an early termination fee of 10% of the policy cost, stating it was disclosed in my application and documents at time of signing up. I looked up all of my documents and no where does it say they will charge a 10% cancellation fee. It does however state that they will charge $50 to cancel policy early - which is MUCH different than 10%. Every time I have called them, I have been placed on long holds, and have spoken to individuals who have been incredibly unhelpful. I made the mistake of insuring my cars with them, don't make the same.

Anybody reading this who is considering insuring their car with ESurance--please save yourself while there is time. They are the worst. Just awful. Dishonest, dishonorable, illegal, and they give car insurance a black eye. If they are backed by Allstate, Allstate should be ashamed. This business is a scam operation. They low ball you a premium, which promptly increases by 30-40% when they renew at the six month mark. Most people don't notice because they are on auto-pay, and wham, they've ripped you off.

The second phase is when you have a claim. Their claims adjusters from the get-go, treat you like you are a criminal and they make great drama of questioning every aspect of the claim. Then they bounce you around and take weeks and scare you with letters and all sorts of denials. You have to sue them in small claims to get the money, and still they don't pay.

I had a really clean record and my last claim was about seven years prior, and the insurance company paid on the spot. Recently I was with Esurance, and I parked my car on the street in front of my house. I awoke to damage on the side- nothing catastrophic, but still. That was 13 weeks ago, and they have put me through the mill!

I could bore you with more details, but the bottom line is, this claim is the most idiot simple claim you could ever have, and they keep hammering on whether it was one thing that caused the damage or three things, and how many deductibles should they keep from me, and why didn't I see the damage, and I need to get copies of statements from all the neighbors, and it's just mind boggling. The final straw was when they wanted to see several months of cell phone bills. I mean, can you imagine? It's shocking. So I'm on the internet spreading the word in anger. People need to know to avoid this company. Please beware and go with someone else. I wasn't even...

My husband was parking the car on the day after Christmas when the accelerator stuck. He ended up slamming into a neighbor's bank of five dilapidated garages, destroying what was left of them. When renewal time came two months later, our rates went from $80 per month to $180! And that was after we dropped that car from the policy, leaving only our one 1996 Mercury and no collision. You do the math. (They claim they also go by our credit rating and other factors when adjusting price).

At the time of the accident, I had to tell the woman who was "handling" it to look at Google Map's website to see the condition of the garages before they were hit! Shouldn't she be aware of Google?? Apparently, the neighbor told her the garages were in "new" condition. I even got a $65 ticket for a missing plate (one came off at the time) while waiting for an adjuster to come and look at the car and the scene. Foolishly, I thought they did that. She even asked me if I had any pictures of the garages before the accident. Shouldn't she have asked the owner that question? I guess if he'd said the Sistine Chapel was there she would have believed that as well?!

The only time she ever made contact with me, other than me calling to ask what was happening, was to ask if I had any other insurance that would help pay for the damage to the falling down garages because she thought the cost of repairs would go over my coverage--again still believing they were in great shape. I couldn't believe how un-knowledgeable this woman was.

To add insult to injury, an illegally parked car which also got hit was described as being in "mint condition." I don't work for Kelly Blue Book, but as far as I know, when a silvery-gray car has a black primed and unpainted bumper and side mirror and dents along the rear quarter panel, it is usually not listed in the "mint" category. Of course, he did state that his "guy from Maaco" said so. Isn't that like my house painter doing my home inspection and appraisal? Again, I guess they just took his word for it. Had that car not been illegally parked in front of the garages, my husband would not have had to veer off and hit them. He'd have had a straight run to have the time to regain his wits turn and turn off the engine and slow down without causing any damage at all.

We were with Allstate for nearly 30 years before we switched to Esurance. The claim that they were "backed by Allstate" was the deciding factor for us. What a mistake! As soon as we get out of here--and that should be very soon--we can't wait to drop Esurance and run as fast and as far away from them as we can. Shame on them and shame on Allstate!!! Caveat emptor!

I was in a minor fender bender 2 months ago. I was at fault, barely any damage to the other car but Esurance deemed my car "a total loss" due to the areas damaged & the worth of my car. Fine, that part all made sense to me. The facts that I still owed on the loan for it ($2k), my inability to go to work & having to look for a new car paled in comparison to the hell I was about to deal with in regards to Esurance. It started with them saying they were going to tow my car from the lot it was towed to, to my auto body shop. This process alone, before even getting it to a shop took almost 2 weeks.

1st, Esurance would call & say my car wasn't at the lot - "it's missing, are you sure you didn't drive it off the lot?" YES I think I'd remember that! I'm not exaggerating, EVERY single time I talked to the Esurance team assisting in my issue, they didn't remember who I was, couldn't find ANY information on the accident ever occurring. I had to tell them the entire story & what the last person said because they had nothing to go off of. Every single person told me to do something different than the last person and everyone was 3 steps behind the last. I guess they don't take notes in their system about accidents? Or maybe it's because 6 different people called me every day for a month that they couldn't keep up? It's like there's no standardized process whatsoever.

This seems like it would be detrimental to a successful insurance company, but whatever! As long as they're making money! When they finally towed my car 2 weeks later, they still didn't know what shop I was taking it to, even though I told about 7 different Esurance workers after they kept naming the wrong place. It's like this is a rookie insurance company. Get it together! I am shopping for new car insurance right now. And since Esurance is an Allstate company, they won't ever be an option, either. Oh, and my insurance more than doubled, going from $58/month to $120/month (1st accident, I'm over 25 & both those prices include a $31 discount!!)

Had a policy with my ex-wife. At the time of divorce, she got her own policy so I just wanted to renew by myself. I might as well have asked who killed JFK or if God exists. After numerous transfers (and a hold time each time), I finally was sent to a 'licensed agent' who seemed able to help. But apparently being a 30 yr old with no tickets and no accidents means "I'm made of money please have your way with me". They ended up quoting me a price, after many hours of my time, then when I agreed, said it would be even higher and asked if I'd like to continue. I discontinued immediately. Yet more hold times and then being questioned by a cancellation agent in disbelief that I found a cheaper rate elsewhere. I'd rather pay equivalent amounts with a company who is competent.

My insurance told me that they won't pay for car rental if I take Friday to body shop because they won't start working with it. I called body shop and told me they will start working Friday, soon I drop off my car. My adjuster verified and given me a go to rent a car. Tuesday my car is done, return the car that I used for 4 days. But my insurance pay only till Monday and not till Tuesday. Their reason because of the weekend is not a working day.

Been talking to my adjuster and Manager telling my side & they told me they will call me back. I waited for almost 2hrs @ car Enterprise to call me but they never call. Good thing the Enterprise car rental understand my situation and they waive the balanced. I immediately change & cancel my Insurance. After 1hr ESURANCE called me, & telling me that they take care the balance from Enterprise car rental. I told them too late and I cancelled my Policy already.

When I first signed up for Esurance I was very happy with their rates and told anyone who would listen about how great I thought they were. I came from another insurer I had been with for almost 20 years with no claims or driving citations so when my rate kept going up I left but now that appears to have been a tragic mistake.

Back in July of 2014 I added a new Nissan Pathfinder to my insurance and removed my 2003 Pontiac Aztec. I ran every possible scenario on their website to get the most bang for my buck and not have my rates increase very much. I ran so many scenarios, I think I made their computer choke because I started having issues adding and removing features. I figured I had already found the best combination of coverages so I logged off and started anew to clear up any problems. I added my new vehicle with desired coverage changes on my other vehicles and only had my rate increase about $15 per month so again I was thrilled with Esurance.

Well, it seems something went horribly wrong somewhere because Esurance did have the name of my finance company but when they mailed the binder to the bank it still listed the Pontiac that I had traded in! Here is where things really went wrong. I received a notice that something was being held for me at the post office, not uncommon since I live in a rural area where the Postal lady won't drive down my long dirt driveway. The Post office is 20 mi. from my home so I only drive in about once per week, sometimes longer. I wasn't too worried about correspondence from my new credit union loan since I'm always current and just figured it was some type of welcome letter anyway. I went to the post office about 5 days after receiving the notice but they had already returned the package, still I thought no big deal since they had my phone number and all.

A month or so after all this I was making a routine call to my new credit union to set up an online password when the phone teller told me my vehicle was up for repossession. I asked what the hell for - I'm current, always am, always have been? I was told that I didn't have insurance on the vehicle so they added coverage to protect their investment at an astronomical rate I might add!!

It seems even though Esurance sent the new creditor my coverage they failed to add the vehicle. I believe this was partly due to this being added just days after my new term was prepared and we were in the last week of the old term. I am one million percent certain I received confirmation that my vehicle was added to my policy and of course they sent out the proof of insurance to the new creditor, what did they think they were sending this for?!!! I am fairly certain that when I first added this insurance my electronic ID card on my phone reflected the new vehicle but I'm not 100% certain on this. I am certain then when they started my new term with the policy they had already worked up before I added the vehicle that they left my new Nissan off the policy but continued to charge the rate I had been quoted for adding the new vehicle!!!

This is now Tuesday and last Friday I spent 5 1/2 hours on the phone talking with Esurance making about 6 different calls always getting someone else and a different story. Finally my wife calls Esurance from her work and gets someone who tells her to send in all the documentation and the will go back and remove the Pontiac as of July and backdate the Pathfinder so all is well I think. I was on the phone with a Jarred when my wife informed me of what we thought would finally be a fair outcome from this nightmare. The rep I was talking to told me since my wife had taken care of this we wouldn't go any farther even though he said he found evidence that I was telling the truth (duh) why would I pay for a Pontiac I no longer own!

Finally my wife gets everything faxed into Esurance that they requested and now they change their story and tell her sorry we can't do anything for you but add the Nissan as of now October 16th!! I get the call from my wife and I fuming literally want to strangle someone. I pick up the phone and after the long wait I get another rep somewhere else and this guy knows I wanna kill someone when I scream to get me back to Jarred, the only damn person who seemed to be able to verify I was being screwed!!

Finally I get Jarred back on the phone and tell him that the notes in his computer that say they will backdate everything when docs are received was a lie and now the story has changed. I plead with Jarred to help and he agrees to talk to his supervisor, Jaime and I'm put on hold for what seems an eternity. Finally Jarred returns with a somber voice and apologizes profusely saying there is nothing he can do. Being furious I ask about refunding the money for the vehicle they know I didn't own and he couldn't even do that!!!

At this point I'm at wits end and ask for corporate headquarters phone number and to speak to his boss and again I'm put on hold for an eternity!! After a long wait a supervisor named Jaime comes on the line and proceeds to tell me that isn't anything she can do. I explain I have proof from my financial institution that they sent out copies of the binder, what did they think they were sending these for? Jaime says only underwriting can approve backdating and she now thinks we might have a chance since there are now claims but it will take a few days.

Well now it's Tuesday and just got an email from Esurance stating underwriting would not approve backdating the vehicle that was added in July to July. Now my credit union is going to double my payment (really). My payment was $492 and it's now just over $1000 to cover the biggest ripoff insurance they could add. I told the credit union I have owned and paid off over 30 vehicles in my life and never had a repossession but if Esurance can't straighten this mess out this will be my first.

Bottom line, if you don't have Esurance DONT' DO IT! This is just my opinion and might not reflect the experience of others but they will be damaging my credit and good name beyond repair because of a glitch in their computers. Oh a couple more things I should add, one of their phone reps told me you need to enter your information only 2 or 3 times in order to make sure the system takes it. Their system doesn't say you need to add your information more than once. This is ridiculous but apparently the rep has heard other complaints about their system other than mine. Also my Nissan did get added 3 months late and guess what, they are raising my rate to cover it even though I'm already paying the higher rate I was quoted in July when I added the vehicle!!! I will finish out my term with these guys just to avoid any other sneaky charges these guys might come up with then me and all four of my vehicles are going elsewhere!!

Three months of working to get it fixed, they then sent me a notice every month to tell me they were cancelling my insurance because of some $16.00 fee, they kept trying to charge me, but no one could tell me what it was for. My car was stolen on July 27th 2014 in which Esurance paid my car off on August 26th 2014. The day prior I received an email from them with my policy renewal notice, I logged on to my account as soon as I received the email and made a couple changes to my policy including rental coverage due to my car was a few years old at this point. I assumed the policy changes would go into effect on August 11th which was my policy renewal date. So when my car got stolen I paid for the rental with my cc. When the adjuster called me a couple days later, (Joel) notified me the changes actually go into effect immediately. That being said my rental would be covered $783.09. He called me back later to inform me even though according to my policy it should be covered, they were not paying for it! I was confused by this, so if I purchase a car and get in a wreck an hour later does the insurance get to deny my claim? I thought COVERED meant covered, not the insurance gets to pick and choose what they feel like covering!

First of all, be prepared to wait a long time on hold before speaking with an actual person. After switching to Esurance last spring in order to save about $75/year, my rate increased 14% at the first 6-month renewal - to a higher amount than my prior insurance before switching. When I inquired about the hike, was informed that there is a general rate increase for all drivers in my region, plus the initial "internet discount" for signing up online was only valid for the first term.

I contacted Geico (my prior carrier, for many years) to see if they too experienced a rate increase. In fact, they quoted a DECREASE in rates of $70 per six months, for the exact same coverage. I switched back immediately. And as a parting gift, Esurance charged a $50 cancellation fee (in addition to the $12 pro-rated cost of the actual days in force). Lousy service, false promises about savings and unnecessary fees. DON'T SWITCH TO ESURANCE.

Now I have received another notice of cancellation. When I called they asked me if I sold vehicles and I said I have in the past. He then informs me that because of that they will not be able to renew my policy. But the cancellation was sent out prior to our conversation in which he had no recollection of what I do on the side.. So he then informed me that because I switch vehicles on my policy they couldn't renew it, and I felt like he had tricked me into saying I sold vehicles. I informed him that the 2 vehicles that I have insured are my personal vehicles and no one else drives those. He did not seem to care or offer any solution to the problem... I had been with Progressive for many years and decided to shop around after my policy Increased. I found reasonable pricing with Esurance and switched. I had been with them for close to a year when I was involved in a hit and run. I called 911 and reported the accident and gave the tag of the car that hit me. I continued to chase the car until they finally pulled over. The woman explained she was in a hurry (she was driving well above the posted speed limit) and had switched lanes after I had already pulled into the lane and had been there for several minutes. She apologized and gave me her insurance information and said she could not wait for police - she was late for an appointment. She had no damage at all to her SUV that I saw. However my car had the entire side mirror ripped off.

I reported the incident and was told someone would be contacting me. After 3 days and still not hearing anything I called again. I finally heard from an adjuster who left a message but was never available when I called back. Approximately 2 weeks later I gave my recorded statement and was told I would hear something back within a week. Once again several weeks passed and I finally spoke to the adjuster who told me that they paid a claim to the woman that hit me and ran!!!! I was furious because not only had they done an extremely botched investigation but there was NO visible damage to this woman’s car. I was told that she changed her story and she switched lanes before I was in the lane. I asked if that was the case and she was not at fault why would she have fled the scene? I spoke to the adjuster’s supervisor who agreed that did not make sense and I asked if they had even requested the police records. I was told no they did not and that there was nothing that could be done at this point.

I was then asked if I wanted to file a claim for my damages (close to $500.00). I ended up paying out of pocket. I received my reinstatement and my policy increased by 65%. I responded to the renewal saying I would not be renewing that I wanted the new policy cancelled (which was still 2 weeks away) and immediately received a notice that my policy was cancelled, effective THAT DAY! My policy has been paid in full and I had to waste more time contacting them and telling them that it was the new policy that was to be cancelled. I truly think that was done intentionally. Also, we paid for 2 months, so we thought, we called them, and they said it was for the 1st and last month's payments. We were not told that. So we went back to Geico and cancelled Esurance. Then today we got a bill from Esurance for more. Please don't get involved with Esurance. They are a "bait and switch" scam company. I hope I'm through with them.

After my longtime insurance company was bought out by State Farm and they jacked my rates, I decided to make a switch. When I compared quotes from several companies, Esurance came out the winner cost-wise by a mile - so I went with them. They are fine as long as you don't actually NEED anything from your insurance company - but after an accident that was not my fault I discovered what a mess I had gotten myself into.

    A. They do absolutely EVERYTHING via computer - hence the name "E"surance. This includes investigation of an accident. No one ever looked into surveillance cameras that were posted at the busy intersection where the accident took place. No one tried to contact the police officer who was called to the scene and what it came down to was my word against the other driver's - who was lying through his teeth about what happened. I took pictures and there were witnesses, but Esurance did nothing with my pictures and did not follow up with any of the witnesses. They ended up calling the accident my fault and then almost tripled my rates.

    B. I moved and they recalculated my rates on the existing policy that I had ALREADY PAID IN FULL and charged me an additional $300.

    C. Customers are required to have them process payments via automatic withdrawal from my account - and I was never given any written notice when those payments were going to be processed. When I asked for them to provide me notice, I was told that this was not their policy - they wouldn't send me a letter, or even an email, to let me know when they were going to take the money out of my account.

    D. I switched to another company this week and cancelled my policy with Esurance yesterday - and was informed that there was a $50 fee for cancelling my policy prior to the end date. And then issued a "refund" on the remaining amount (a whopping $20 - which would have been $70 without that "fee"???) - but the refund went to an account that has been closed. I now have to wait for that refund to be rejected by my bank and THEN they will mail me a check.

So - if you just want to have a policy that complies with the law, but doesn't do anything at all for you if you actually get into an accident, or a tree falls on your car, or someone breaks into it..... etc., then by all means go with Esurance. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money.

I signed up with Esurance after getting quotes from several companies and speaking with a representative a few times. The quote they gave me was worth (I thought) making a switch from the company I was with. I gave them all my information. Verified it was correct and the first two months it was fine. Then I realized they somehow after all the verification had input my address incorrectly. I didn't think it was a big deal. One digit difference on the zip code...just the neighboring area. Oh, no. No. NO. I was told my premium was going to almost double because I was in another area. It didn't matter to them that we had verified the correct zip code previously. I left them immediately. Very bad customer service. Very bad protocol. Very bad practice.

They said it wasn't good enough. So I got a policy from another company for more coverage and half of what I was paying them. I called to cancel my policy with insurance. They said if you live in Florida, they charge a 10% cancellation fee. But, not on the two months I had paid on six months of what my policy would cost. I had them for about two weeks and it well over one hundred dollars. The only thing I got from them was a 20 minute wait to talk to someone. They will refund my money, less the BS charges in 7-10 days. They took it out the same day when I paid.

I would have never wanted to deal with them if I had to because of an accident. They would have some rule to screw you I'm sure. Shop around. You can do better than this company.

Esurance has violated California's Insurance Code and California's Code of Regulations in both claims that I have submitted. They have stepped up their harassment by employing an attorney, Mary ** of Yoka & Smith, to pepper me with endless questions that have nothing to do with the actual claim or even resolution of the claim that I can no longer communicate with Esurance, which is a separate violation of the CCRs. I had to go to the extraordinary step of sending her a Bible in the hopes that she can find some peace through Jesus Christ. In fifteen years of practicing law, I have only run across one other attorney that was as equally as unstable, fractured and nonsensical as Mary ** of Yoka & Smith.

However, Esurance's criminal actions do not stop with this claim because subsequent to the first claim filed, another, collectible vehicle (1994 Porsche 968) was side-swiped by a hit & run driver. Esurance conducted an appraisal of the damage and determined that it was NOT a total loss and sent me a check for the repairs. However, Esurance reported the vehicle as a Total Loss vehicle, thereby branding my title as "salvage"!

First, Claim **, initially handled by Lynn **, out of Esurance's Phoenix Claims Office, who stated that I did not have "permissive use" coverage on the subject vehicle. Short back story, my friend borrowed my vehicle with my permission and was struck by another car. The other party contacted their insurance company, who, in turn, contacted Esurance, who, in turn, contacted me for a statement. It is imperative to note that I did not file a claim for damages with Esurance, even though I was fully covered, because it has been my experience, after "dealing" with insurance companies for nearly 15 years as an attorney, that it is less expensive, both financially and emotionally, to fix any damage to a vehicle yourself than to go through an insurance company. After Ms. ** stated that I did not have permissive coverage, I stated that her analysis was incorrect and that I would like to speak to her supervisor. In addition, I conveyed to her that I was an attorney.

Magically, I had permissive use coverage. I spoke with her supervisor, Nicholas **, and could not have been more offended. I repeatedly informed Mr. ** that I did not appreciate being talked to in such an offensive manner and, yet, he continued to be abusive. I was simply asking that my claim be handled by another claim office. It was at this time that I informed Mr. ** that I would be reporting their claim settlement practices to California's Department of Insurance. I feel it is important for our government agencies to be aware of criminal acts committed by Insurance companies.

It has been my experience that bad claim handling is systemic to the office involved. Almost all national insurance companies have satellite offices that individually train their employees. Poor training leads to poor employees. Management sets goals for their employees and paying claims are not a goal of insurance companies. The Phoenix claims office of Esurance is poorly trained, poorly managed and engaging in unfair, illegal settlement claim practices by initially denying a merited claim until an attorney is retained. After being transferred to Tom **, who was equally as rude as Nick **, my claim was transferred to Kristen **. Then the harassment started with endless and worthless questions coming from Mary ** of Yoka & Smith. These were not questions, but interrogatories that attorneys drafted and propounded on an opposing party (which I am most certainly not!), not questions that an agent, like an insurance agent, asks of their principal (me). It came to a point where I finally had to, literally, beg, Mary ** to stop communicating with me because the harassment was too overbearing.

Then came Claim **. Claim ** - My 1994 Porsche 968 was side-swiped while parked on the street. Appraiser Kevin ** came out and could not have been more professional. Great guy and truly an asset for Esurance or any insurance company. The claim was passed to the "Total Loss" division for evaluation. It was evaluated by Alex ** and determined NOT to be a Total Loss, as stated by Mr. ** to me on July 1, 2014. However, a CarFax report indicates that on June 20, 2014, the car was reported by Esurance as a total loss.

The problem is exacerbated by the fact that: (1) I had the car sold on July 5, 2014 but the prospective buyer backed out of the deal when he ran the CarFax and; (2) as a total loss vehicle I will not be able to re-register the vehicle, which, the registration is due in two weeks. In sum, I have a vehicle I cannot drive, I cannot register and can only pay Esurance money to cover. Two claims and both claims resulting in multiple violations of California's Insurance Code and Code of Regulations governing insurance. I have personally witnessed some horrendous insurance company practices in nearly fifteen years of practicing law, but Esurance rates as one of the worst of all times. I will state that Esurance still cannot beat Crusader Insurance for the title of the worst insurance company of all times!

The owner of Crusader Insurance, Cary Cheldin, once sued California's Insurance Commissioner for publicly releasing the audit of Crusader Insurance's claim settlement practices! Crusader did not want the public to know that Crusader used the pawnshop value to determine the value of used items. The only time the public with encounter Crusader Insurance is when: (1) a tow company does damage to your car or; (2) your apartment catches fire. In those instances, you had better retain an attorney or familiarize yourself with Small Claims Court. Esurance and Crusader are the cut from the same cloth, in that, if you have a legitimate claim that should be paid, all you have is the right to go to Court because everything that they do will end up in litigation.

Do not walk, RUN as fast as you can from Esurance!! Do not let the low price, company jingle and endless advertising seduce you into buying insurance from Esurance because when it comes time to filing a claim, you will pay, pay, pay the difference in savings and more. Most importantly, complain to your respective State's Department of Insurance about the claim settlement practices even if you do not know the specific laws that have been violated. If you have a bad claim experience with Esurance, let the Department of Insurance know about it and, over time, Esurance will be out of business.

First, I would like to say that I found it really annoying that every time I said something, the Service Agent kept saying, "I do not agree with that"... She said it with a long pause at the end like that this disagreement made it Scripture!! So I opened a policy with the usual two months in advance, I never agree with that!!! But are forced to.. I was told by Davin that my fist payment would be due in 1 month on the 15th, and that I could request an extension because I was a month ahead.. I though ok, I can deal with that.. I should have asked him to be more specific!

The 15th of the next month came and I asked for a one-month extension and they said they could not do that but could extend it to the first of the month. Davin made a huge statement about how if my payment failed to clear for whatever reason my policy would cancel and that would be bad! So, a 2-week buffer period is a good thing. I half-heartedly agreed and he moved my payment date to the 1st of every month!

3 days later I get a policy cancellation notice for failure to pay!! I JUST IGNORED IT!! So today is the first and I checked my payment status and it is showing they are going to take out an additional $15 for late payment... I laughed when I seen that and called Davin and got his voice-mail! So I called the 800# and the Scripture Lady Debbie answered! I started by confirming my account number and followed it with "I do not consent to your $69.80 to be withdrawn from my account"!! 10 minutes of her trying to get me on tape saying it was OK were shot down by me repeating "I do not consent!!!"

She then gave up and agreed to remove the $15 fee I was not informed of! It was her insistence that I would no longer have coverage on the 2nd if I refused payment and went with another insurance company on the 15th that really pissed me off! I paid for 2 months in advance and I will get my 2 months in advance. By her account, I was only going to get 6 weeks! I asked her how long she worked there and she said 3 years so I would guess they have a way of cancelling you the instant you are late with a payment even if you have a month in advance! My final payment is due in Sept. and I will be covered until Nov., I now question this! I will find a new insurance company with a better or equal rate and get rid of Esuckance!!! Debbie left a bad taste in my mouth!!!!

The speeding violation happened a year ago and was included in the previous 6 mos. premium ($469). I'm so frustrated with Esurance I could cry. Or scream. I have already cancelled my policy with them, but am leaving this review in hopes that someone sees this (and all the other negative reviews) and takes their business elsewhere. I will certainly be telling my friends, family, people on the street, and anyone who will listen not to purchase insurance from them.

I recently moved across the country (from PA to NM). A few weeks ago I called Esurance to get an insurance quote for NM. At this point I didn't have the details or date of my move set -- I just wanted to know what my new monthly payments would be (I was insured by Esurance in PA for almost a year and planned to continue coverage with them). I was surprised when I got an email a few days later stating that my policy had been changed to New Mexico. I called back to inform them that I had not yet moved, did not yet know the exact date of my move, and would let them know as soon as I arrived in New Mexico and needed to change the policy over.

The woman on the phone was extremely rude and demanded the details of my move several times, which I did not have at that point. However, ultimately, she changed (I thought) my policy back to what it had been, and instructed me to call them as soon as my move was complete to cancel my PA policy and begin a NM one. Fine. The morning after arriving in NM, calling them to change my policy was the first thing on my list. However, when I checked my online bank statement, I found that Esurance had autodebited $333 dollars from my checking account, for no apparent reason, as my payment is usually due on the first, and my account was current. This withdrawal overdrew my account, causing me to default on two other autodebit payments and be charged overdraft fees by my bank.

When I called to inquire about the charge, I landed in customer service hell. I spoke to at least five people (none of whom were helpful). I was transferred from Customer Service to Billing to Cancellation, dropped twice, then transferred around again. Finally a customer service representative told me that the woman I spoke to before my move had cancelled my policy "effective October 29th" and that the $333 charge was the remainder of the amount due on the policy through that date. She said that she wasn't sure why this had happened, and that the woman had processed the cancellation incorrectly-- they aren't supposed to be done like that (ya think?).

I requested that my policy be cancelled effective immediately, and that the funds be refunded. She stated that although the charge was ADMITTEDLY THEIR ERROR, IT WOULD TAKE 7-10 DAYS TO GET A REFUND. 7-10 DAYS. This is not acceptable. I just spent a great deal of money to move across the country, and I literally have NO money because of this. NEGATIVE FUNDS IN MY BANK ACCOUNT. She also stated that, even though the charge was an error, Esurance would not cover the resulting overdraft fees. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was rudely told ok, "but they're just going to tell you the same thing."

When I finally spoke to a supervisor (Brandi), I was again told that the cancellation and lump sum charge were Esurance's error. Brandi stated that she could "expedite" the refund and get it to me within 24 hours rather than 7-10 days, "if my bank didn't hold the process up." It's been 24 hours, and surprise surprise, the money is not in my account. If you remember correctly from the paragraph above, this means I still have NEGATIVE MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT. I suspect that Brandi knew the refund would not be expedited and threw that line about my bank in to cover herself. However, my bank, who I've been with for more than 20 years and who has lovely customer service, tells me that they will process the payment immediately upon receiving it -- they just haven't received it yet, of course.

The upside? My new policy with AAA (that I had to BORROW money to purchase, because, if you recall from the previous two paragraphs, I HAVE NO MONEY BECAUSE ESURANCE TOOK IT ALL) is less than half the cost of what I was paying for my Esurance policy. Not that that does me any good right now, because my car is sitting in the driveway BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO PUT GAS IN IT. Thanks, Esurance.

After looking at the record, he said that our usage was increase from 9k to 14k miles a year and that was the reason of the increase... We called shops and found one that could get tires in to fit my car within less than 24 hours. Esurance didn't get someone out to tow my car till over 24 hours after they'd been informed of where to tow my car (Wednesday). Then their appraiser didn't show up the day that they were scheduled (Thursday) and when he finally did show up (Friday), he did a poor job on evaluating my car and gave an estimate for stock value on my tires when my car's tires are low profile, after market and quite obvious that it is so.

I called Esurance, educated them of the mishap and told them I was in need of a vehicle because I can't work without one. They said it'd be handled and quickly but that even with pro-rated charges (because this car was brand new haven't even had it a month yet so my insurance premium wasn't due yet) I couldn't get a rental due to having not paid anything yet (and they were still going to charge me for that month of rental car coverage any ways). They didn't get a correct appraisal till the next day when the shop was closed and the correct tires couldn't be ordered again until Monday.

Here we are a week and a half later still no tires or transportation and a loss of what could have been a very prosperous week for me and no promises I'll have my car by tomorrow either. All because Esurance couldn't get an appraisal right and couldn't be reached by the tire company when they were needed. I have no claims and a perfect driving record. The car is always garaged and it has a factory accessory alarm. The reason I was told for the large increase was due to claims in my area (not MY claims, just the fact that as an insurance company, they paid money out) and the fact that the "two-renewal" discount is over. WELL, THEY NEVER told me that the so-called discount would end... BAIT and SWITCH. Insurance is mandatory, not a service or like buying a physical product. As such they should be, and act ETHICALLY! Our car was hit by an Esurance client, March 25, 2014. The accident report was 100% the Esurance client’s fault. We have been without a car since this incident. Today is May 8, 2014. Esurance is investigating the client’s health - to determine if it meets their guidelines to pay for accident (per my conversations with them over the phone). To date, we are without a car. No Rental. They want us to go thru our insurance to get help. (ISN'T that funny - go to another Insurance company to get help?) We do not want the "action" to be noted on our car insurance and do not want to put out of pocket money (car deductible) for something that is noted on police report their client’s actions. Needless to say… IN MY OPINION, they do not want to pay anything, and put the other people at no fault using their own funds and resources. I will NOT EVER buy this insurance.

I started with Esurance due to the coverage and costs. Had a rate quote, paid first 6 month in full. Upon renewal, rate went up $100! When I called, they had no true response, beat around the situation. Next renewal, it went up again! This time when I called I had to demand an explanation. A "supervisor" came on line, I was then told that the state of Oklahoma charges Esurance a fee to do business in the state and Esurance passes that fee on to it customers! Needless to say, I will be switching before my next renewal date.

I have been utilizing Esurance on my current vehicle for approximately a year. I also used them for a previous vehicle for several years. While their initial rates were quite nice, as WAS their customer service, that has all changed in the past couple years. They continually increase the premium by surprisingly large percentages and never tell you why. I'm not talking about forty or fifty bucks. Every single time it is at least a 150 to 200 dollar increases. The previous two times I have called them and complained/asked what was up. To their credit, they did remedy the situation those times (especially since they had a recording of their own errors). However, with this happening yet again I just cancelled my renewal. It seems like more of an aggravation than it's worth. I have heard about AllState being better, but am wary as I believe Esurance is now owned by them. So perhaps you should stay away from them as well. They could be the reason for the astonishing decline in respectability at the company. Save yourself the time and trouble, find someone else. A few weeks ago, I visited the website and updated the mileage on one of our two vehicles. Shortly after, we received notice that our 6 month premium would rise from approximately $600 to $3,900, WHAT???!!! ! I called back 3 times and was told on one call that it wasn't the mileage, but was some kind of rate adjustment according to our ZIP code, that there were many claims in our area so they had to raise the rates. We have had no tickets, no accidents and one our vehicles seldom leaves the driveway. I was dumbfounded.

We have been with Esurance since around about 2006 and I was thrilled to find them and their low rates. I told them I would shop. I shopped and found something comparable with USAA for my old rates. Even when calling back to tell them I found something comparable, there was nothing they could do. I am speechless. I guess they're part of All-State now.

26 yr old guy, recently leased a brand new Volkswagen CC. Not too happy about the car payment but was happy enough with the quote I first received from Esurance to make the decision on the car. Esurance, oh so conveniently, decided to give me a mighty enticing quote based off all the information they needed from me; they received fully accurate information about my driving record, past insurance policy and all of my new leasing company's insurance requirements. I decided to go with Esurance because their quote was (what seemed) unbeatable. Granted, I'm aware that quotes aren't always exactly accurate and may vary a few bucks here and there. A major factor on the decision to accept the lease on the VW was the price of the premium initially quoted to me by Esurance.

A day later, I received an email from Esurance attempting to explain the significant rise in my 6 month premium. Something about further investigating of my previous insurance policy not having a sufficient level of bodily injury liability being a rating factor that has caused my premium to rise $120 extra a month. $720 extra for the 6 months!! It was all done so nonchalantly, too, as if it wasn't a big deal. $120 extra a month for a 26 yr old just becoming independent is a big deal! Their down payment was almost three times the cost of a monthly payment. I called for further explanation and she failed so terribly at it. She basically said sorry and that there was nothing that could be done about it. I responded with a "no prob, I wanna cancel." I called Geico, which is WAY more reputable, received an accurate and actual quote and premium - even less than what Esurance initially offered - their down payment was half of what Esurance's was. Everything panned out so perfectly with them. Esurance charged me $13 for the one silly day of insurance with them, I paid and happily left them for Geico and now, I'm as satisfied as can be with Geico. Don't do yourself the disservice of going with a unestablished company like Esurance, go with the real deal like I did.

The representative told me that my first time user deduction was taken off and some other deduction was also taken off. I have no tickets nor accidents and I'm over 25 years old but my rates are increasing for no reason. I let that go...

On January 17th, I had a fender bender and hit a parked car with a rental car. Stupid... yes. But hey I have insurance. Well Enterprise has been trying to get in touch with my representative in Dallas for almost two months now. Jared **, my representative, hasn't return her calls or emails. Enterprise has a policy that they have to send me to collections if they can't get a hold of my insurance company. I'm lucky that Enterprise is working with me and won't do that as long as they can still contact me. Enterprise will send me the bill instead because my representative won't answer.

It just seems so unprofessional that a representative won't answer call phones and emails. I'm a Customer Support Manager and I know good customer service when I see it. This isn't it. I'm dropping Esurance like a bad habit as soon as my 6-month policy is up with them. I'm through with them.

I initially thought my claim was handled well in 2012. The body shop provided a website to view the repair process. 2 years later I have a transmission leak and am not sure what happened. I take the car to a few shops. All suggest a loose valve, but suggested going to the dealer. The car felt unstable on the freeway last Monday. I knew of a dealer mechanic nearby so I got on the streets and took the car in for a full inspection. They mentioned that they would check the car and my extended warranty. They check the car and say the cooling lines are an issue, but there is an issue at the connection with the radiator. They say the radiator seems to be an aftermarket non-GM part and has an issue commonly seen with aftermarket radiators. They suggested that I find out about the warranty from the manufacturer of the radiator or the body shop.

I call the body shop and they say the radiator has a lifetime warranty. I take the car in. The body shop rep was strangely rude. Open the hood around dusk with little light and begins accusing me of being in an accident and having horrible work done to the car by an obviously poor repair shop. I told him that all the work on the car had been done at their shop (recommended by Esurance). The body shop man keeps the car and the next day rudely says “Look, you were in an accident. I don't know how GM would ever cover any of this by warranty.” I told him I'd call Esurance. I did. Tuesday morning. They advised someone would contact me about the claim later that day. No one called.

I called on Wednesday and complained. They made me repeat the story 3 times and even seemed to get upset with me. It seems like they contacted someone in San Diego to look at the car. They said they would have someone contact me. Thursday the appraiser called and said that he could come Monday. All the while my car was and (still is) at the body shop. I work 20 miles away and am in a rental that costs close to $40/day. I asked him if there were someone closer and he said no. I told him that the shop was being rude and felt the service rep was biased. He said that he knew the service rep from a variety of shops and he was a nice guy. I said “Perhaps to you, but he wasn't to me on that day.” He defended the man's behavior without listening.

I started to feel like there were no objective parties. Esurance's appraiser said he couldn't come on Friday and would come Monday... a week after the car was at Le Mans. I said “I'm incurring a huge cost while I'm waiting for you to most likely agree with your friend.” So he said he would drive up on Friday. Well, he calls Friday and says he was in the ER for a family emergency until 4am and wouldn't be able to come until Monday. We talked and he said “I have to inspect the car”, but the body shop sent him pictures. He never asked to see the GM mechanic's inspection and recommendation. Nor did he look at GM's written agreement to cover the part by warranty and mention that the aftermarket part was not covered by warranty and cost $1200.

So now, I'm paying $40/day including today for the rental car and the Esurance appraiser is now telling me to take the car to GM so that he could inspect it again. No one is a GM certified inspector. In fact, I'm not sure what anyone's background is. I asked for the source of the part so that I could research it and no one will give it to me. The appraiser said that "he won't pay for something that was in accident". I told him that "he" shouldn't be paying for anything because he is representing a company. I asked him for a manager on Friday and he wouldn't provide it. He is now open to providing a manager, but all of the people are rude. I spoke to one nice customer service agent who helped me, but other than that this is bad. They indicate 2 claims on my record but I only filed one with them. The other was an inquiry and the claim was with the other driver's insurance.

My rates have increased significantly and I pay a very high price. I've only had one claim over the past 10+ years I've been with the company. I never had a claim with my previous vehicle. They didn't advise me of my rights to contest the first claim. I found out about it from Farmers Insurance who was actually much nicer than Esurance. My sister said that Geico did an amazing job of handling her stolen vehicle in 2004 or so. They even wrote her a nice handwritten note. I've also gotten Esurance's partner apartment insurance. Just don't do it. That was bad too. They will not inform you of your rights and they seem to put crappy parts in your car.

I'm worried that I'm in an unsafe vehicle. The body shop put their own work down. Esurance won't even deal with the body shop’s poor customer service and sided with them in the inspection prior to even inspecting the car. The body shop has my car and won't return my calls. I asked to speak to a manager (who is the owner). They transferred me to his voicemail and he never called me back. Esurance is awful and they partner with duplicitous body shops that do subpar work on your car. They will not honor the lifetime warranty on a part even if the dealer's certified mechanic for your car says that the aftermarket part needs to be replaced. The aftermarket part was not even the main contributor to the issue. It needed to be replaced to get the new cooling lines.

Now I've paid $125 for an inspection w/ no fix, approx $400 for a rental because Esurance didn't come until today. Next will be $1200 for a radiator and possibly $221 for the cooling lines because if the car is showing some time of damage that may have happened at Le Mans since the Esurance appraiser mentioned that coolant fluids are now leaking when they weren't leaking before. It hurts to feel like you have no rights and Esurance doesn't care if their body shop is rude. If an appraiser indicates a familiarity with the body shop guy making a case, then why would they use that appraiser? The appraiser didn't even allow me time to get to the body shop with someone to represent my interests and they identified a new problem that wasn't covered in the inspection from GM.

I feel helpless, forced to pay close to $2000 and without an objective party. The appraiser and body shop were talking like I'm working with the mechanic to do something against them. The GM mechanic I went to treated me better when my male cousin was around. They certainly weren't doing me any favors by indicating anything was under warranty. As a woman, I really feel there needs to be regulations and guidelines forcing insurance appraisers, mechanics, body shops etc... to treat women fairly. Throughout this process I’ve been talked down to and dismissed. The Esurance appraiser didn't even want to see the $125 inspection form from GM. He wanted to talk to him without me like he did with the body shop. This is so weird. I can't help but vent on every site I can find. No one should go through this ever. Please have all of the claims work from Esurance checked by a certified mechanic shortly after it is done. I think Esurance may be putting cheap parts in the car for cost and they won't give you the source of the parts to do your own research.

If you choose not to avoid this company completely which I recommend that you do, I highly advise you to be aware of your driving record and state laws. In No Fault States it is illegal to increase rates because of an accident. Esurance does not adhere to those laws (RCW 45.52.130 (10) For Washington Drivers). They increased my rate $20 because of an accident I was involved in. I was not at fault nor was I cited. In addition, their customer service is terrible. They provided no solution and lied when they tried to justify the reason for the rate increase. Bottom line is, it's illegal and they don't care. Pure lack of communication and incompetence. On February 3, 2014, I reported an accident to Esurance via telephone. On February 10, 2014 I was issued a payment through my checking account which I then called the auto body shop to pay them. That's when I was informed that Esurance did not communicate with them that the estimate has been approved therefore my car was sitting in the shop wasting time and money. I had a three way conversation with Esurance and the auto body shop so that they can proceed.

It is still unknown why the insurance did not contact the auto body directly and approve the estimate. I called the auto body February 16, 2014 just to check the status of my car, which I was told AGAIN that the auto body submitted a supplement and has been waiting for the approval therefore they stopped working on my car. The auto body was told to email Mr. ** and they also faxed the supplement which they have confirmations for. I called the insurance immediately to inform them what is happening and how can I expedite this. I was then informed that they did not receive the supplement, resend it and moving forward, we will have to wait for an adjuster and then payment would be issued and so forth.

I called back Esurance on Feb 18, 2014 to find out where's the payment only to hear that it's under review. At this point I am livid because of the lack of communication. I work two jobs 7 days a week and this was a waste of my time calling both places back and forth non-stop. I called the person reviewing the supplement directly to find out what's pending and why. She then called me back that afternoon to inform me that the two supplements have been approved and she contacted them directly as well.

On Feb 21, 2014, I got a call from the auto body shop saying my car was ready to pick up. The money was not in my account still. I called Esurance to find out where was the money only to find out that a check was issued to me which I was appalled because the first payment was sent directly to my account. The rep that I spoke with said the check should have arrived which it didn't. She explained that she would have to stop the check and then send the payment to my account. When I called on February 24, 2014, THIS STILL WAS NOT DONE!!!! For whatever reason the check was stopped on 2/21/14 and nothing was done moving forward until I called once again! I have a voicemail from a representative saying that I will be compensated from February 18-25. I think I should be compensated for the majority of my expense because of the hassle I went through with this company.

I have NEVER had such a terrible experience with an insurance company. In fact my original estimate said that this should only take about 10 days. I understand that nothing is concrete with an estimate, however to over lapse an estimate by approx. 13 days, almost double what I was quoted is absolutely absurd and this is all because of ESURANCE incompetence and lack of communication. A customer should never have to experience what I went through with this company.

To top this matter off, I have the towing company harassing me because since Esurance issued me the payment (Which I paid directly to the auto body shop), they never received payment although my insurance said they would take care of the towing fee. And because I work two jobs it is extremely inconvenient and time consuming to continuously call this place and keep getting the run around. It’s extremely sad when you leave the managers a detailed message and they still don’t return your call. Extremely unprofessional and very unsatisfied. Ultimately I got my car back yesterday 2/26/14 and for some reason still having issues. Nothing gets resolved.

The engine would not start after accident. I heard from a claims rep about a week later that my car was being transferred to one of their facilities but they did not tell me where this was.

Three weeks go by without word from them. I had to call the claims rep and leave a message on her phone. She returned my call the following morning claiming that my car is "fixable". Now, I have a pretty high deductible with my Esurance policy ($2,500). The claims rep "regretted" to inform me that the cost of repairs do not exceed my deductible and therefore are unable to make payment on the damage repairs. How curiously coincidental and suspiciously convenient in their favor. Not to mention how seemingly cheap all these repairs are going to be. If this kind of car repair is so cheap, why do cars cost so much to begin with?

Shocked at this, I failed any follow up questions like, where is my car? Now, I've been trying to reach my claims rep to find out where my car is, I only get the answering machine and she doesn't return my calls. The claims rep sent me an email with notification that cost of repairs won't equal my deductible and mentioned that the copy of their estimate is attached with the email... it was not. I've been much too patient waiting through this experience. I have four years left to pay on my car and I don't even know where it is in Esurance's possession. Now I don't have a car, I'm riding my bike to work in winter weather. I don't have a lot of free time but I have to make time to lawyer up and battle this criminal enterprise. I have provided these docs. to E Ins. and they continue to "shuck and jive." I am currently looking for an attorney who is familiar with this type of case to initiate litigation.

I was rear ended by a Geico driver on 1/6/2014 after I hit a deer on my way home from work, live and work in rural VA. I hit the deer, had come to complete stop, Geico driver hit me. I was driving a 2001 Kia Sportage, which I loved. Had high miles but ran great, did the job for me. My Esurance has been great, no complaints from me. They even raised the amount they gave me for damage when I questioned the first amount. BUT GEICO decided to give me NOTHING for the rear damage after telling me they were going to pay for rear damage and after the adjuster for Geico drove a couple hours to see the car. He told me, after threatening to get legal advice, "Go ahead get a lawyer I don't care."

I am happy with Esurance and how professional and nice they have been , but Geico must spend all the money and time on commercials and sponsoring NASCAR races. The driver who hit me was a very nice man and he told me the accident "you let me know if Geico doesn't treat you right because I have been paying him since 1971 and filed no claims." I hate to tell him but... Esurance A+, Geico F-.

I get in one fender bender (no police report, no injuries, and no damage to the other person's car) and Esurance has doubled my rate (technically it was a 41% jump). I did cause the accident but it's the ONLY blemish on my record in 16 years of driving. It was a slow speed accident where I rolled in to the car in front of me at a yield (thought they had gone). Dumb I know. But come on... A 41% increase?

We saw the ads on Esurance and checked it out - sure enough, $160 less than our current insurance, so we switched. Every month they kept up this series of requests for "added" information that if not provided would incur, guess what? In the end $200 of additional fake charges. They wanted "proof" that we had had insurance - so we had to request a special letter from our old (now returned to!) insurer. They wanted "proof" that we had had no accidents, even though that is public knowledge for all other insurers. They wanted proof from 3 separate sources that our mileage was what we said it was. And finally we said, Enough aggravation, already, and moved back to our previous insurer (through Costco!) and of course they had a "$50 cancellation fee" hidden in the small type that they charged. I finally went to look at their reviews on Amazon and felt like an idiot! They are of course, in the bottom of the stars because they treat everyone the same. I feel like an idiot for having listened to the hype on the ads on American Airlines and not investigating before we jumped into this leaky, horrible boat! Buyers beware. Sorrow will be yours if you head their direction.

First off, I am a customer with Esurance for my automobiles. Never had any problem with payment, etc. So I decided (after my previous homeowners policy spiked $3,000 a year for no reason!) to get a quote from Esurance to cover my home. I was happy with the price and I made my premium payment. Esurance indicated they would be sending over a rep to photograph the exterior of my property. Fine, I live in Wisconsin and it's January, so I wasn't exactly sure what they were going to see (white house surrounded by 2 feet of snow).

I receive an email from 'customer service' at the end of January 2014 indicating that I had exactly until February 27, 2014 to complete their listed repairs on the exterior of my property. So, I'm thinking - how am I going to get a contractor to come out and complete these tasks when the majority of the month we've had temperatures below 0. I responded back to customer service asking for an extension to which I was denied. No one is going to repair fascia boards in the middle of the winter. It's a safety/health issue for the contractors to attempt this work! What are they thinking? I just asked for an extension, that's all. I'm not trying to 'rip' anyone off and I'm willing to get the repairs done, if they give me a reasonable time frame to work with. If I'm going to put out my money to make these repairs on my home, I want it done right and I want it to last.

I'm very disappointed in their unprofessionalism and lack of a realistic response time to remedy the situation. It only takes a minute to look at the photos the 'rep' took to see the house is surrounded by 2 feet of snow, the ground is frozen solid. Where are contractors going to put a ladder or scaffolding? Up until this point, I had no problems - now I'm wondering. I have filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner.

I kept showing them history of prior insurance but they still said that I had a lapse. So they upped me from $141 a month to $219 a month. So I called and canceled before they took out the money from my bank and two weeks after I canceled they took 219 from me. So I Called Them And Told Them I Canceled And They Showed No Record Of Me Canceling So I Told That Person To Cancel And Refund My Money. And She Said There Was No Cancellation Fee In Texas. Well I Only Got $131 Back And I Called And Asked Them Where The Rest Of My Money Was And They Told Me I'M Not Getting the Rest back because it was pro rated even though I canceled before that month started.

We began our relationship with Esurance before they were bought by All State - years ago. Until the buyout they were very reasonable and very fair. We had zero complaints. Last summer my husband and I each got new vehicles. Our premiums went up, but we were on auto draft, with more expensive cars so it was to be expected. Sometime in mid-October we got a cancellation notice - that our policy had already been cancelled for 20 days. Turns out this was due to some computer glitch even though our payments were auto drafted. So unknown to us, we had been driving around with no insurance for nearly a month.

To add insult to injury, we had to pay a "reinstatement fee" of $290 and when we got our new quotes, they were even higher than what we had been paying! Due to THEIR ERROR! We switched to Progressive and got a better policy for less money and were happy but when our policy renewal rolled around, our premiums went up again and so we started shopping around again.

Stupidly, we plugged in all of our information into Esurance's website last week. We got a very inexpensive, affordable quote and bought it. New policy was due to begin Jan 31st. However, they failed to notify us that we were charged a 3rd of our entire annual premium UPFRONT - nearly $600 - instead of the $230 we agreed to on the Esurance website. We cancelled our FUTURE policy with Esurance and will NEVER do business with them again. Beware, beware, beware.

It's now 1/4/2014. I ended up having to pay the entire cost of repairing my '96 Lincoln out of pocket in early September of 2013. I loved that car. I changed insurance companies a few days after the 8/23/13 accident because I felt Esurance was a shady company, to say the least. Sadly, I had another accident on 9/23/13 when I hit a pickup truck that had spun out on a wet highway and wouldn't start up again. It was dark and rainy and the truck was completely across the middle lane and partially blocking the two outer lanes of a three-lane highway. The 9/23 accident definitely totaled my Lincoln. It was mangled. I'm glad I changed companies. The new insurance company folks were pros; fast and efficient. I am still waiting for a fair settlement from Esurance for the repairs for the 8/23/13 accident. It's run around after run around. I am continuing to insist that they pay a fair amount for the repairs.

I did hear from the Esurance Total Loss Adjuster just prior to the end of the year (4 months after the 8/23 accident). She stated that she was going to close the claim. I told her that she couldn't close the claim because Esurance had not done anything with it. She knew that, she was just trying to bully me again. Tellingly, she said "We're not going to pay, no matter what".

I was recently involved in a rear end accident. This resulted in me being pushed into the car in front of me. I filed a claim with esurance and after the car was assessed to be a total loss they sent me an appraisal of the car. This appraisal was lower than the kelly blue book value, NADA value and I also four additional identical vehicles at four different dealerships and sent this to my total loss specialist. After no response from anyone I called my claims adjuster and he put me through to someone in the total loss department and I was basically told that that was the appraised cash value of the car and that the kelly blue book value is not accurate. Then I was told that if I wanted to pursue it further I could hire my own appraiser and they could work with the esurance appraiser. But if I chose not to take that route they would give me an additions $350 in lieu of another appraisal. This was way short of the $1500 dollars I needed to actually replace my car with a similar vehicle.

There was no attempt to negotiate on the part of esurance. Then after speaking to my claims adjuster again he once again put me through to the total loss department but this time to talk to a manager. We went over the appraisal once again and the discrepancies in the appraisal pointed out by me were corrected but should not have changed the value. When I received the corrected appraisal again the value of the vehicle was increased by $375 dollars. Seems like every time I call they up it a little bit hoping I will go away. Also I was told they only had to give me the actual cash value of the car as I did not have a replacement police. I was under the impression that I should be able to get a comparable car to put me back where I was before the accident but that's not the case. Oh and did I mention that the person who rear ended me is also an esurance customer so they are on the hook for the whole accident. I would not recommend anyone use esurance ever.. Also when I got the police I called esurance and was quoted a price which I accepted and payed but when I logged on online the premium it said I payed was hundreds of dollars lower than what I actually paid.

My husband takes our kids to school every day through a quiet residential street with an oddly configured 5 way stop. Day after day, he stops at this stop sign and turns right. My 13-yr-old daughter often says he tells her you always make a complete stop as cops like to hide down the road and note rolling stops. My son and daughter were in the car as always - dad made a stop and slowly turned right. About 1/3 of way through the turn a black blur shot by and clipped the side of the car. A teenage girl driving mom's car stopped ahead and was shaking, saying, "I didn't see you, I don't know what happened." They exchanged information and my husband took several pictures. After a minute or two, a man appeared saying he also tapped his car on the girl who blew stop sign but his car was parked 50 yards away. After lurking a few minutes, he said he didn't want to file insurance and left, giving girl his info.

Well suddenly, the story has changed and the insurance company says the girl and this "witness" say the girl had "control" of the intersection and my husband inexplicably darted into the intersection and rammed the side of her car. When my husband took his car to the Esurance body shop, the mechanic said this WAS NOT POSSIBLE given the damage to my husband's car and someone blew by him and clipped the bumper as damage was minimal. Yet, Esurance insists that my HUSBAND hit this person and this oddball who stopped to gawk is her witness. They will not listen to their own policyholder with perfect record and his kids in the car going to school - they listen to some random girl who has probably been licensed for a year who ran a stop sign and hit my family. I am furious.

We have been insured with this company for about 7 months now. I will be switching to another company later today. We got a free quote online from this company back in May of this year. The rate quote looked good, so we gave them a chance. When the policy was actually issued, the premium was higher than the quoted price, but was still reasonable compared to other quotes that we had received. Then in September, we received a billing notice indicating that our premium was being increased by $132.00 in the middle of the policy term, with no explanation given. We had not made any changes to the policy, No claims or moving violations, Nothing had changed.

So I called Esurance and spoke with one of their licensed agents, to try to find out the reason for this rate increase. The agent indicated that they didn't have an answer immediately available for me but they would research it and get back to me in a couple of days. I waited a few days and had not heard anything back from them, so I called again and spoke to another licensed agent, still no answer but I was told that they were still "researching" this. This went on for a couple of weeks, back and forth. FINALLY, after about 3 weeks, I received a call back from Esurance with an answer. The answer that they had given me, was that their "computer" had removed the Multi-Car discount from our policy retroactive to the start of the policy term. We have 3 vehicles insured on this policy!!

Fast forward to the policy renewal, November 11th. We paid the first monthly premium for the new policy term before the renewal date, We then received notice that they were going to deduct the next monthly installment on November 16th, Only 5 days after the policy renewal date. If I pay for a month's worth of insurance, I expect to get a month's worth of insurance, Not 5 days. And the fact that it took them 3 weeks to provide an answer to what should have been a simple question. This simply is not acceptable to me and shouldn't be acceptable, period.

I made it known to Esurance that I planned on fighting the citation in city court, and I explained exactly what happened. My claims adjuster, after reviewing the evidence (i.e pictures, police report, "victim's" statement) said that clearly the person who hit me is lying and that all of the physical evidence points to my story being true. He even said that the people who hit me clearly rehearsed their stories and planned on using me as a meal ticket. He told me that he was denying their claim.

It took them nearly a month to receive my payout for my vehicle which was totaled! After not hearing from them for weeks, I called to see what was happening with my case. My claims adjuster then informed me that his superiors decided to pay this woman for damage to her car! In other words, they rolled over like a dog with its tail between its legs simply because the other woman's insurance company made a benign threat!!! Then they had the nerve to tell me they were protecting my interests. My adjuster assured me that now she can't come after me personally for property damage. When I consulted my attorney, he said that unless they paid her for personal injury, she can indeed still come after me. When I confronted them, they admitted that in fact the other driver could still come after me!! So much for protecting my interests! They wanted to save themselves the cost of providing me with a good lawyer! My attorney also informed me that Esurance should not have paid any claims to this woman without informing me first. My attorney said that Esurance has been shady and dishonest throughout this entire process!! I told them he didn't live at the address and they said he was in the same town and that was close enough. They also wanted my parents, sister, and brother license #. If I didn't provide their personal information they were canceling my insurance. They never would provide valid insurance cards and when I used their site to try and get one, they were always expired. I would call and call and they would say no problem or use the site.

I think in the 5 years I had them, I only had one maybe 2 valid cards the entire time. For basic liability they were charging me 200 and I was paying it because I thought it was full coverage which I signed up for. They switched it at some point without informing me and without a rate decrease I never picked up on it. I finally had it with all their shenanigans and switch to another CO. I’m paying so much less and actually have the comfort of having a valid insurance card.
