Whirlpool Cabrio - good consumer rating. I've had it for 2 years. It does not clean well and the clothes does not smell clean even though I often clean the washer and leave the top open when I'm not using it. I've also had it service 3 times because the rotator keeps going off and makes a lot of noise. I bought an LG dishwasher for $1300 and it lasted 7 months and completely broke down less than a year and had to be replaced. After I bought a $400 Whirlpool. It does the same job and I've had it for 2 years without any repairs.

Five years ago I bought a brand spanking new HE set with a top load washer, top of the line Whirlpool. That washer has been a piece of junk and getting it serviced has been a nightmare. It "broke", i.e., the computer part, and was out of commission for FOUR MONTHS. I live on an island off of Alaska, luckily I rented one for the duration but STILL. That was an EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLAR MACHINE.
I liked that they are new and shiny and look cool. I hate that the electronics broke after a few years. I've had washers dryers that lasted TWENTY YEARS. The next set I buy will have plain buttons for cycles and NO ELECTRONICS. None. And still none. Electronics instead of plain buttons. I'm not kidding, I will never buy another one with electronics. I bought a top of the line Whirlpool HE top loading set for over $1400 five years ago and that washer has been a bust. I have had a repairman out over 5 times and the last time he took it out and kept it in the shop for FOUR MONTHS. I will never buy a fancy set again. I will buy the old kind with the plain old buttons. Do not make this mistake yourself! Just buy a plain old one!

Whirlpool Duet Steam - we've had them for a few years, but I think they were about $2500 for the pair. They looked nice. I like things that are well built, and at first glance, I appreciated that the doors were actually metal, the hinges were very heavy cast items, and the inside was all stainless. All my experiences with "energy efficient" products has been a huge disappointment. As far as the energy efficiency, the part that they forget to tell you is that you'll either have to run something through the dryer twice, or (if you want to stay more "green") take the clothes out and hang them outside.
If you use liquid soap, you absolutely have to run the sanitize mode every 3-5 loads or the washer smells like there's a corpse in it. Apparently, the liquid soap has animal fat in it (or that's what the repair man told us) and part of the energy efficiency is that it uses far less rinse water. It doesn't rinse all of the soap residue out of the drains and that animal fat renders. If you use powdered soap it doesn't seem to do that that often, but it still does. Both have already been serviced multiple times as well. We've had to replace the motherboard in the dryer twice. Once under warranty, once not. Those nice cast hinges do look substantial, but one has broken on each machine.
It's funny, but we bought a Kenmore set when we were first married. Used them for twenty five years and then gave them away (fully functional) after 25 years because my wife wanted something nicer. That entry level Kenmore set never needed service once as long as we had them. I'll bet this pair has been serviced 5 times in the first 3 years. The Laundromat is starting to make a lot of sense. None of the appliances we've bought in the last five years or so have been worth a crap. They all seem to be built with the intent that they're to be replaced in 5 years. Hopefully others have had a better experience than we have. However the repairman usually tells us our units won't be worth repairing within another couple years if anything happens. I just think that's really unfortunate.

Amana washer at $359.65. I purchased it in Sept. 2014. Within first 12 months, it was repaired three times. The 'motherboard' kept shorting out. Unknown to me at purchase, it does not soak. Spin cycle still leaves clothes extremely wet. Purchase of this washer was worse mistake I have made. Store employee kept stating what a wonderful energy efficient washer. Not when I have wash loads twice.
Appliances were purchased at new residence - leaving my trustworthy ones in previous address. I want what I had before - a Whirlpool that for 15 years never required any repairs, soaked, spun dry. The present appliances (washer as well as a GE range) are nightmares. Manufacturers are no longer concerned with durability or quality of their merchandise. In my opinion, appliance store employees deliberately ignore or advise customers of good and bad products.

Whirlpool Cabrio - Clothes come out of the washer wrinkled, twisted and soap stained. I use the exact soap products they recommend in the proper amounts. Bought them in September of 2014. Wish I could return them. Too low of a water level that cannot be adjusted. Not fully rinsing the soap out of the clothes. Washing takes twice as long as with my former 25 year old washer. Dryer is new technology and energy efficient yet won't remove wrinkles from permanent press clothes.
Uses hardly any water so clothes must be rinsed at least one or two times to get the soap spots off. Clothes always come out extremely wrinkled. Not all items can be put in the dryer so ironing is back in my life again. Some items come out so twisted and wrinkled that ironing won't even help. Dryer isn't much better at all and shirts and pants always have some wrinkles. Have had to bring some items to the dry cleaners to bring them back to a non wrinkled state. Whatever is saved in water and energy is more than made up by ironing and dry cleaning. The company representatives have sent service people out twice and they both said that the machines are performing as they were intended to. I do smaller washes and wash more often to try to get better results. I don't. Even though it is extra large capacity items such as blankets must be washed more than once as the water does not wet the entire blanket.

Come with a new home. I don't like them. Piece of junks doesn't worth the money. I have them since a year now. Take too much water, dryer inefficient, consume too much energy. Every product from LG are good. The one coming from GE and sub cie as Whirlpool etc. are very cheap. The door are cheap, you feel the quality the first time you use them, very noisy, consume a lot of energy, broke after one years or less, you got leaks from the pump.

Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load, Short Agitator to protect clothing, cost reasonable, on sale $800.00 both (Aug. 2013) - Sears credit no interest. Moved, and had to sell after a year, but I anticipated a long life r/t rating/reviews online. One Problem: no setting to soak clothing that may need it. I bought the largest Whirlpool Cabrio to make sure my Queen bedspread (heavy blanket type fur on one side) would fit. Because of the short agitator I could have bought the smaller one I discovered. I could fit 6 regular side and 4 beach heavy beach size towels in it easily, or two Queen quilts in at a time. I rarely needed an Xlg water setting.
The dryer had a steam only setting but I never tried it because it was set up in the apartment when I arrived and the delivery people were not very bright. Put the Dryer farthest from the vent, washer farthest from faucets, and put hot and cold hoses on opposite spigots. I did not want to chance they set up the steam section wrong, as well. I moved across country 1 year later, but have trust the W/D would do well. My last Sears brand (made by Whirlpool) only had one minor problem (on warranty) and lasted a good 8-10 years before moving and selling them to another couple. They were still in wonderful working order (front loader).

I have a pair of Whirlpool front loader. Prior to these I had a pair of top load - which are actually still being used!!! Over 25 years... so that's why I picked Whirlpool again. Just wanted the front load this time. I've had these since 2008 - I like the front load because I can put blankets in them easier than a top load. There isn't anything I do not like about them. Capacity yes. Energy Efficient yes. Brand reputation yes. And I actually got my set at an appliance store that sells open box so I got them for a great price! I would recommend Whirlpool front load (and even top load) washers and dryers. I've had good luck with them. My cousin bought a set after using mine and she is pleased as well. Prices vary from store to store so do your homework and shop around before you make the purchase.

Whirlpool WTW5840BW0. Sufficient options in the wash selection, it only has a low and high spin selection. It should have a third selection of medium. 13 months of use. I research ratings on the models that interest me, within my budget. I use Consumer reports testing results in my research. Additionally I get the input from the salespeople. Low quality construction usually leads to regular repairs. Length of warranty and if an extended warranty is available. Noise is a factor. Patience is a virtue when shopping any major purchase. Don't fall for the "I just love this because of the appearance" or a few bells and whistles. Walk away and consider what it is that really sells this to you and does it really fill your needs.

Needed a washer right away and have had Whirlpool before. Simple & easy to use. Not confusing to the average person or teenager for that matter. Reliability from Whirlpool is excellent. I have had many products from them and have enjoyed them all. They have been quite reliable over the last 9 years. They are out of date but they work. Not a lot of bells and whistles but still nice. They are both full size and have enough options for me. I am still happy with the pair and would purchase again if needed in the future. Price was good at the time as I cannot see spending $1K on them. Not always the more expensive is a good idea either.

My son purchased it for me. I liked the front loaders, but my son purchased a top loading machine, and I am kinda glad, cuz I am able to soak laundry once again. When I purchase a brand I hope to get a lot of usage out of my purchase and hope that it lasts a long time. I feel that appliances should be made well enough to stand up to the work they were intended to do and not fall apart easily. I want a washing machine and dryer that will be a workhorse. I do not want to pay out a lot of money for the product, and do not want to pay out a lot of money in repairs.

Front-loading does not do good job of rinsing. The Whirlpool Duet will not last longer than 2 years. Whirlpool recommends that owners purchase a new washer every 2 years. Whirlpool suggests owners purchase new clothes each week to avoid washing. Any owner would be required to quit their job in order to wash clothes. The Whirlpool Duet front-loader requires 12 hours per load. This means that only 2 loads can be washed in a 24-hour period. Each load requires 10 rinse cycles to remove suds.

I chose based on the current ratings of the machines. They look nice and they can handle large loads. I think EPA has changed wash machines to be back into the 1920's. I put my clothes in and there is no agitator in the center. My clothes come out twisted tightly into little round circles or balls, not much water but now it takes over an hour to wash my clothes. So we are conserving water but using more power, I also have to iron sheets and clothes because they are so twisted and wrinkled. I used to stick my clothes into the washer, select a cycle and go on my way and now I have to answer 5 other selection options, if I don't hold the button in long enough it just turns off.
Have we all lost our minds, I think this is going backwards not forwards. I have talked to other women and they agree with me, we HATE these new washer and dryers. The dryer is a little better but not much. Also the tops are concave so your laundry basket falls off, and you can't put your soap on the dryer which is where I am used to having it. Now I have to clean my washer every 30 cycles, iron and it takes all day to do the laundry, yes and they call this progress, really!!! I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio W10607 425A- SP and dryers Whirlpool W10680129C-SP, these are full size and have the steam options on them and are side by sides.

I was under the impression Whirlpool washers were good. Mine always goes off balance and quits. I carefully redistribute the load several times to get it to finish (start over). Sometimes it works fine from the get-go, but not often enough. It is now 2 years old and if I were wealthy, I'd shove it to the curb. There is little to like with an appliance that often must be adjusted and re-started. I will try Samsung next. It seems that American brands are not reliable. I have no special needs and will consider reliability above all. The name Whirlpool would be a deal breaker for me. I cannot abide my Whirlpool washing machine as it is more of an aggravation than something useful. Stay away from Whirlpool washing machines. They (at least mine) require the load to be balanced to a microgram. Appliances should just work and not require fiddling with.

Nice looking, prices very fair for quality product. Options are always good. My mom used Whirlpool. That thing that goes in the middle of the old time washer is now gone. That thing would rip or stretch out clothing bras. Anything that was nice it would make it look horrible. I've had my washer and dryer for 6 years and they still work like new. When shopping for a washer and dryer I do look for capacity, energy efficient and the brand. I prefer to stick to the old school brands just like my mother did. I must admit that I do love the fact that it is an HD high efficiency washer. The deal-breaker would be a low quality construction made a washer or dryer nobody needs to have problems with it. If you're spending that type of money you need to get good quality items.
I love my washer and dryer. They're both and white color. It's a Whirlpool Cabrio with HD High efficient load energy saver and H2 wash system. The washer has a lid with a see-through glass which I love. My dryer is also a Whirlpool Cabrio steam with a resource saver that gives me a lot of different options as far as my clothing is concerned on how I need it dry.

Just acquired this model, used, June 2015. I like the capacity of the drum. The heat it puts out and the cut down of drowning time. When shopping for a washer and dryer I look for Capacity, Discounts, and Energy efficiency. It doesn't matter about Brand reputation. A deal breaker for me is the number of repairs, how well it operates, and if I paid too much for the unit compared to the output of quality like no heat or water leaking. The hidden trade name that backs up the quality of the machine. This one being an Estate made by Whirlpool, W10287575A; It's 29" Electric, Front load; with a variety of working features.

Whirlpool Washer WTW8700EC + Dryer WGD8700EC. Bought to replace a 35-year-old Whirlpool set that is still working and had no repairs in that 35 years of ownership. Gave to family member and it's working well. Was not a cheap item but well worth the money. It performs beautifully. I chose Whirlpool. It is a proven brand with a long history of reliability. When I bought my last Whirlpool, I bought the top of the line model washer and dryer. They say "you get what you pay for" and that holds true in my case as has with many others who believe it! So this time I did the same thing and bought the best top loader they had. It has many options I still need to learn. I just use it like the old machine and don't need to worry about types of fabrics or making mistakes. Just follow the instructions for detergent and softeners and all is good.
This machine cleans as great as the old one without beating the clothes to death. New agitator design keeps from paddling the clothes, so I don't need to use the gentle cycle or medium to preserve the clothes. The dryer I can say is most efficient as I noticed it took far less time to dry, and notice a small drop in my electric bill and gas bill. I think this will be my last machine ever needed. I do take care of my things and I do clean and polish my machines, they are an investment like a car or house. Front loaders have a lot of problems with leaks from the doors. Will stick with top load only!

Whirlpool Duet pair. Like Whirlpool products and have had good experience with them. Have had the pair for 3 years. Like the way they wash and dry. Clothes do not take a beating. Only dislike is the vibration on the washer. I look for capacity and extra features such as: steam option and extra cycles. Now I also look for noise and vibration. Would definitely like to stay with Whirlpool. Definately cost is important, but for the sake of a few dollars more the options and the brand are something to be considered. Having a steam cycle and wrinkle cycle are important in any dryer.

Whirlpool Duet - Steam cycle and sanitize on wash. Dryer is fast and automatic cycles actually work! Have had the washer 4 years and the dryer over 10. We like the Duet Washer because it had a steam cycle and a sanitize cycle plus it has a light inside that helps us see the laundry in our dark room or at night. Also we have been very happy with the cleaning - does a great job and gets the dirtiest clothes clean. The Fan Fresh feature and Delay Start are very handy especially for busy parents who may forget the laundry is in the washer.

Bought the pair because they had several wash cycles and dry cycles. The price was reasonable. I have always liked Whirlpool, but after buying this set, I probably wouldn't buy Whirlpool again. Most of the rinse cycles are spray rinses. If you are using the liquid softener option, the softener gets on the clothes and the spray rinse doesn't really get it rinsed off. I have had to rewash because of the fabric softener stains. So there are only two wash cycles that I use because they have a full rinse. The hot water isn't really hot because the machine adds a little cold to save energy. The dryer is great. I've had these for three years and can hardly wait til the washer breaks down and I can get a new one. I will try to find a machine next time that doesn't have mainly spray rinse cycles. I realize this is a save energy quality, but I don't like it. I want my clothes rinsed well in a tub of water, not with spray.

Dryer has multiple cycles. Perfect for the whole family. My last Whirlpool set last me over ten years, wanted that same quality level in my new purchase. I wanted a quality machine. I was very familiar with the Whirlpool brand and knew that was going to be my first choice in a brand. These were full size. We bought this Whirlpool he washer two months ago, and it is the most aggravatingly frustrating washer we've ever had the displeasure to use. There are times when it washes just fine, but I always have to put the mode on deep water wash because the normal mode uses very little water (like it's supposed to) but it doesn't clean the clothes. However, most of the time it doesn't wash at all. All the lights will turn off and you'll hear this sound and it'll drain the water without having been in the wash cycle. Worthless piece of equipment! I prefer the old washer where I have more control. Whirlpool used to be such a good brand, What Is Happening? The new design for their washing machine nowadays generates a lot of complaints, and with good reason (because they suck).

We've had this washing machine only a few years, and our household of 2 probably averages 1 load of laundry per week. We've always had the same problem everyone has with the detergent stains on clothing and having to rewash loads, and the only remedy we've found was using the oversized loads setting and rewashing a load. The last straw was 6 months ago. It quit going through a complete cycle and would not spin out without resetting it. Then it quit spinning out at all. Service Guard, a 3rd party warranty company, diagnosed a faulty motor and ordered a replacement. After a long delay Whirlpool advised it was back-ordered for 3 months. A week ago Whirlpool advised them it was now back-ordered until 5-27. They did not know whether we'd ever obtain a replacement motor.
After taking clothes to our son's house for a couple months to wash, we purchased another used machine to use until ours is repaired. It is beginning to appear that machine may be our permanent machine. This is a pretty sad testimonial about whirlpool. We have always used Whirlpool appliances but appears we may have to switch brands. And it certainly does appear these low water machines are garbage. Very disappointed in Whirlpool.

All of these awful reviews and you continue to sell the Made in China JUNK!!! And shame on the stores that advertise and sell Whirlpool JUNK!! They should put a warning on these machines stating "Will not last, gets off balance and does not clean your clothes". Yes we bought the Cabrio like the others, our clothes would not get clean, because like sheets, would end up looking like a doughnut without a hole and all of the dirty water would drain through the middle and make a spot. Then you have to wash them over and over. But that is not the worse part! It only lasted 13 months, YES I said 13 months just past the warranty LOL!!
When the man came to make repairs, it was the gear box and was going to cost almost $600. Almost as much as we paid for the machine. He recommended getting a Speed Queen, we did and I LOVE it!! I think it is the BEST MACHINE I have ever had. They are a little hard to find though, but I found where they were sold on the internet and the dealer had to order it. Well worth the time and trouble, (trouble) which I don't expect to have with this machine. Like I said it is a wonderful beast. And I will never buy another product made by Whirlpool. I purchased this washer 4.5 years ago. I have always been a Whirlpool customer. My parents had Whirlpool washer and dryer while I was growing up in the 60's. When I got married in 1976 I bought a Whirlpool washer, dryer and refrigerator. They lasted 19 years!!! Then I replaced all 3 in 1995. Again, lasted 16 years. I gave the washer and dryer to my sons when they moved out--it's still working.
So I thought I would reward myself with a new Whirlpool washer and dryer in August 2011. I didn't know about the pitfalls with the high efficiency washers. The dryer is great, but I HATE my washer! The lid lock is ridiculous, we should be given an option to override it. The sensing takes forever. The low water level leaves clothes unclean, and with detergent residue, causing the need for another rinse cycle. This saves no water if you have to run it twice. Not to mention how long it takes to do a load. Then it doesn't spin all the water out and you have to run a spin cycle. It aggravates me every time I do laundry.
After being a Whirlpool customer for over 35 years, it's time to move on. I just ordered a GE machine that is old school, no sensors, no lid lock, and I can control the level of water. Whirlpool doesn't make these simple machines anymore. You're going to lose a lot of customers if you keep selling the trash. This is the worse washer I have ever had. My adult son went into a rage last night trying to use it, he forced the lid open and broke the lock, and of course it won't work at all without the lock. Good thing I ordered the GE washer the day before, it will be here in a few days.
Can't wait to bash the Whirlpool with a sledge hammer, it will give us great satisfaction! Are you listening Whirlpool? Your designers need to go back to the drawing board. I realize this is not just a Whirlpool problem. I've seen complaints about kenmore and every other manufacturer that makes these stupid low water sensing machines with lock lids. If consumers are too stupid to keep their kids out of the washing machine, maybe they should have their kids taken away.

I wrote to the company and included pictures. They were really rude about it. I finally found how to remove the dispensers to clean them, but it is very difficult. I HATE this machine and will never buy a Whirlpool again. (Our refrigerator, which was in our house when we bought it, is also a Whirlpool. I am shocked at the washer's inability to clean even the most basic of stains. I have to pre-treat clothes like never before, have tried every type of wash cycle offered and can't believe the amount of time it takes to "clean" clothes. Over one hour???
My Maytag may have agitated the heck out of a load but in less than 30 minutes everything was clean. I've had to re-wash load after load of the most basic everyday stains. I was hoping the larger drum would allow me to cut my laundry time down but that is not the case, and find myself putting a few things in at a time so they get washed. I'm stuck with this piece of crap and have only had it for one month... Can't wait for it to start breaking down and dealing with repairs as so many of these comments mention. I miss my Maytag!!!

We purchased a top loading Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine, Model #WTW8040DWO from Lowe’s on October 15, 2015. Since that time, we have had a service call on three separate occasions. The last service call, the service technician got Whirlpool on the phone with their technician. The washing machine would get stuck at 40 minutes and would continue to fill with water, drain and fill with water and would never progress.
After the service technician talked with Whirlpool technician, it was explained the machine's electronics were so sensitive that the washing machine had to be on an independent CIRCUIT (meaning absolutely nothing else can be plugged into the circuit). We contacted Whirlpool indicating that was not acceptable. Very few, if any houses, have a washing machine on an independent CIRCUIT. Whirlpool's response - "I have an independent circuit for every appliance in the house." Obviously, she does not know what a circuit is. Totally disgusted. Will NEVER buy another whirlpool product again. Horrible product and horrible customer service.

Cabrio Top Load Washer model WTW6800WW1 - Although we were very happy with the vendor where this was purchased and happy with the majority of the washer function; there is a problem with the cabinet & lid connectors rusting. Specifically, the lid connector on the left side totally rusted out, and also around the bleach cup, rust. There are also rust spots where the seam of the top section of the washer meets the bottom part. The washer was purchased in 2009. We have had it serviced in the past, prob 5 years ago, it needed a new motor and the rust was beginning to show then, while under warranty.
I recently called Whirlpool and the associate told me that she had never received a call with regard to this type of problem. She did give me names and phone numbers of appliance repair in my area. I find it odd that Whirlpool would not make their associates aware of issues like this. I searched online and saw more than a few complaints about rust.
So on it goes, no recourse, and as I read about the problem from others reporting this; it was mentioned that the vapors from the bleach cup etc, contribute to the rust. Additionally, even if it was under warranty, I was told that this is considered cosmetic and it would not be covered. Until... and I can only suppose, that until the lid possibly falls off while lifting, the cosmetic ruling may then turn into a function problem. Now there is also a squeaking sound, so off to call the appliance repair, check the cost and next time... buyer beware. I guess a lesson in science as well, hopefully this design flaw will be corrected for the next models in process.

The unit new was $899.10. The repair cost by a service tech will be @ $600.00. Whirlpool previously made a bearing replacement set retailing with tools for $150.00 but it only works on units up to the YC0 model. Now I would have to replace the complete outer tub assembly. Apparently the bearings have been a problem but Whirlpool must not have been making enough money from the sales and changed the mechanism to make more money. I have a Cabrio top-load washer which started rusting around the bleach cup after 23 months of use. Extended warranty on washer does not cover rust on washer top per Lowe's Extended Warranty program. After speaking with a customer service supervisor, Whirlpool offered a concession for a new washer top only (labor not included). After old top was removed, it was discovered hinges were badly corroded so new hinges had to be ordered before installation of new top. New top and hinges were finally installed, but now washer lid will not lock. Technician assessed new washer top is slightly warped as lid and lock are not aligning properly.
A new top, for the third time, is on order. Very disappointed in Whirlpool Cabrio washer which started rusting after 23 months of use and with defective, genuine Whirlpool replacement parts. A washer, located inside a climate-controlled home, should not rust after 2 years of use. Prior to purchasing a top-load Cabrio washer, I owned a washer for 10 years which never rusted. This is either a design flaw and/or use of poor construction materials. Needless to say, I'm a dissatisfied Whirlpool customer as I have been without an operable washer for weeks. I ordered a washer dryer combination through Whirlpool. I was given a delivery date 2 weeks out. Whirlpool employees must be doing their laundry very sparingly if they think that this would not put a strain on a household. But I was willing to wait. I asked the date and they wouldn't give it to me. A week later they called with the date and I asked the time. Again they wouldn't give it to me. However they said they would give me the time the night before. They then called with the time, which was during work hours. I told them I would be unable to do this during work hours and they gave me the only other optional date, also during work hours. I finally agreed and took a 1/2 personal day. When I arrived home. I received a phone call from Whirlpool that they will not be delivering my washer/dryer unit at all and to pick a different date. I canceled altogether.
UPDATED ON 02/24/2016: I have worked hard to not get upset at companies. However I feel that this is an especially poor company and I can't remain silent anymore. I bought a Duet Washer and dryer over the phone with Whirlpool. It took 3.5 weeks for it to get delivered because Whirlpool kept cancelling. Each time, I took a 1/2 personal day so that I could meet the delivery people within their 4-hour window frame. On the 3rd attempt, they were finally delivered and set up by the delivery men.
During the 2nd time I ever used the product, it stopped working, making a horrible grinding noise. I had to unplug the machine. My husband came home and he's pretty handy. However he was unable to even press 1 button. I had a friend in the repair business come the next day and he was unable to repair it. I called Whirlpool again and they said they'd have a repairman out the next day. They outsourced the job to a local company and Whirlpool sent me a confirmation email with a time and date. Again I took a 1/2 personal day. After hearing from no one, I called the repair company. They said they had no record of me in the system. I cried.
I called Whirlpool and was put on hold for 3 hours. I hung up and called again. They said my department closed 8 minutes ago and they couldn't take my call. I asked how that could happen considering you began the call 3 hours before that time and would have stayed on hold until I died had I not decided to hang up and try again. Every time previous to this I had been on hold for a minimum of 1 hour.
I have been trying to return the product. They tell me that I'm unable to because my product is functional. I told them it was in fact not functional, which was about the 3rd time I said this, and they said I'll have to call back 1st thing in the morning. I told them I can't risk any more work time to deal with this poor company. So they put me on hold again and that's where I remain. I am currently going on 27 minutes.

Dark clothes always have white streaks and spots all over them. Called Customer Service and was told it was due to too much soap, the way the clothes were loaded, needed to add an extra rinse cycle to load, and/or because there is a water softener in the home. Have changed soaps 3x, changed the way I was loading the clothes, and I doubt the water softener has anything to do with this problem. I don't see how adding an extra cycle is efficient and seems wasteful. This machine is horrible and whether I just got a lemon or if it's a defect in this machine, I don't know. We bought the Cabrio less than 5 years ago. First of all, a high-efficiency washer should not require an extra rinse after each wash, but this one does. I can't see how that's being efficient. The washer, even for a small load, can take up to 54 minutes, and then when you tack on an extra rinse, it's well over an hour, so what you may be saving in water, you're spending in electric and wait time. And then, there is still a soap/water scum left on the clothes, which is only evident on the darker clothing. Now, just recently, the washer is stopping, and NOT unlocking after about a minute into the start cycle. I will have to cancel the wash, turn it off and unplug it before I can get it opened. I'm sure it's something to do with the electric panel, which after reading the reviews, we are not going to fix, and we are headed out to buy the traditional top loader, NOT high efficiency, which I suspect will still be more efficient than the Cabrio.

After looking it up on YouTube and researching it we finally decided to call a repairman. $600 for the electronic circuit board and two weeks delay while it was ordered. It worked for about three months but intermittently. Then called the repairman again. He took it apart a bit and cost $85 no parts. Worked for about a year and now it is back with the problem. Whirlpool will be a cuss word in my new vocabulary.

Cabrio washing machine WTW8600YW0 - Had this washer for 3 years. It's been repaired a few times, but this last time they've replaced the bearings 3 times and it only lasts less than 1 week. This $1000 washer is now going on the trash. I tried to get help from WP, to no avail. There is a reason these are only warranted 1 year. One thing I liked about it: the fast spin speed gets clothes drier. Every other aspect is crap. Cleans very poorly. You can't make it use enough water. The tub looks huge because it doesn't have a conventional agitator. But if you put much in there you will end up rewashing in small loads because then it REALLY cleans poorly. I bought this because my trusted appliance store owner buddy said he owned one. When I asked him lately he doesn't talk much except admits that yes they have had a LOT of trouble with these machines. The life is very short on them.
The wonderful fast spin speed destroys the light bearings quickly. And it gets worse the more it's worked on. It's a disposable $1000 piece of trash. I'm an engineer, and whoever designed this should have his degree revoked. The type of agitator it has and the extreme low water is very hard on your clothes. One zipper left loose will shred your clothes. I wanted to love the thing, but I have to hate it because it is unrepairable. If you could control the water and if it lasted at least 5 years without having to rebuild it several times at greater cost than it was purchased for, I might be less than rabidly angry at WP. They know they are junk but don't care. You have few choices as they now own most brands, and they know this. I have a Speed Queen on order. Just a plain old simple washer.

Like everyone else here, I had to call a repairman to have a look at my washing machine after 4 years of limited use (only my husband and I). As soon as the repairman looked at it, he told me they've had so many calls for this particular washer. He ordered a new part for it, but it did not fix the problem. Thankfully we purchased extended warranty and we were credited the full amount + tax. Today I picked up a brand new Maytag washer. Can't wait to try it. Thanks Leon's for the great service.

Bought Model# wtw4800xq4 washer @ Lowe's 9/01/13. Started having problems within months at our beach cottage unrented, our use only, no more than 4 small loads a month. Replaced circuit board, still same problem - stuck in rinse, never drains, won't spin. Another company came out, replaced solenoid. Thank God we bought year extended warranty. Quit again. Have to wring out clothes by hand, rinse out soap in sink.
Another company comes, replaces shifter, breaks again. I go to Lowe's, demand new unit. They send another company out, broke next day 1 load later. Got new washer from them same model. Within months problems start again. Now broken again. After new shifter 3 months ago, songs like rocks in coffee can. PIECE OF JUNK. CALLING again for service after Christmas. Absolutely disgusted with Whirlpool and the whole lack of admission of design flaws. NEVER WHIRLPOOL, new mantra here.

My husband purchased a Cabrio washer and dryer pair for Christmas 2010. I have faithfully used the affresh every month, and spent a fortune on it I might add. But for about the last year or so, no matter that the washer has been cleaned at times when the load is finished there is all kinds of black stuff in the tub and on the clothes. The tray under the detergent dispenser is all black and nasty and impossible to clean thoroughly. The black stuff will come through the holes in the tub as well. Water stands in the bleach dispenser at times, fabric softener does not all dispense, the LID is broken and has been but I cannot afford over 200.00 for a LID and about 100.00 to have repairman to put it on.
We do not have heavily soiled clothes that would create excessive dirt, never have had and we are now retired so we surely don't now. Bottom line, I thought maybe this would be the last washer I would need but I hate it. It is only 5 years old but I am stuck as I cannot afford a new one now. Factory rep says if it is cleaned as it should be, I should not be having this problem. Not true, it has been cleaned as recommended!!!

After yet another frustrating round of laundry I have to write this. This has been the worst purchase (Cabrio 6800 Washer and Dryer) I've ever made. Like other reviewers, I thought I was buying a high-end (high priced) product that has performed miserably from day one. Clothes do NOT come clean and for some reason, towels and dishcloths get ripped and shredded. All cycles (except sheets/towels) do not dispense enough water. Of course the one that does, results in the ripped and shredded problem. A little more than a year after purchase, we got an error code indicating the computer board was bad. Code would come up during initial cycle start and again at the start of the rinse cycle.
Whirlpool basically said "tough luck" but shortly after, we started receiving offers in the mail to purchase an extended warranty for $175. Out of principle, I did not do this. Instead we discovered that we could push pause/start/pause/start multiple times and it would eventually keep going. We are still doing that on EVERY load of laundry (start and rinse cycles). I am not far from just biting the bullet and buying a new washer. It will not be a Whirlpool. One positive note is that the dryer has performed well, unlike some of the other reviewer experiences!

My elderly mother purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine in 2013 (Model Number WTW8600YW1). It never filled properly with water. It evolved to a sensor and circuit board issue that Whirlpool never totally remedied. Hence, the machine never worked properly. This 800 dollar purchase on an elderly person's limited budget had to be utilized minimally. Now fast forward in 2015, even with minimal usage and white glove handling, the machine is displaying an F51 error. You guessed it, Whirlpool will not remedy the issue, although it is well-documented to be a widespread complaint hence clearly a product defect. Shame on Whirlpool, their business practices, and what amounts to theft of an elderly woman's finite income. I have advised my mother to trash the useless Whirlpool appliance and purchase a Kenmore washing machine, of which I have been the proud owner for 10 years, doing laundry for a family of 5.

My husband and I bought a new Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Series Washer and Dryer in November 2012 from Lowe's. My clothes, especially towels, smell like mildew and mold since I have used it. I thought it was just me. I have even thrown some items away when they smelled so bad. I love doing laundry but this not being able to have clean smells was driving me crazy. I tried everything I could think of but to no avail. Finally in October of this year 2015 my washing machine began to make a loud noise. My husband said sounds like a bearing is going out. I immediately sought a repairman thinking that it would be a simple fix. $420 later I had a new bushing, bearing, sleeve, etc. The machine was still making noises even louder and my repairman came back, this time to the tune of $180. So far we've spent $600 on a washer that we gave a little over $800 for.
Now I have a UL code showing up when my load is almost completely done and guess what? My repairman says he has yet another part that should take care of the noise but he wasn't so sure about the panel. He may have to do a little research on that. I think all I have is a repairman that is a "parts replacer" so we were forced to purchase a new washer yesterday and my Cabrio is sitting in my garage. If someone needs a boat anchor just please contact us. I wrote a letter to the corporate office of Whirlpool before I even knew that so many consumers were having problems. Two repairmen told me that the Cabrios were junk. Most of them belonged in the landfill.
Whirlpool customer service called me and offered me a discount coupon on a new washer. I told them that I didn't think I needed another piece of crap. I also questioned them as to why they could foist these crappy machines off on the American public. They had no apologies whatsoever. While researching what brand washing machine to invest in, I realized that there were numerous complaints regarding the Whirlpool Cabrio. With as many consumers who have been taken advantage of with this awful product, why can't someone do something?

I work full time and I do laundry only on the weekends and there is only two people living in the house so you can imagine we do not use it that much. I went to Home Depot first and since it was past 30 days we had to called Whirlpool direct. The customer service is horrible. I thought since the transmission blew, they would replace the entire machine since that is the brain of it. NOPE! They said to replace the entire machine and give us a new one, it would have to break 3 times. Are you kidding me?
They did not offer to reimburse the tile damage or the amount of money I had to spend at the laundromat. Not to mention it's been over a week and the guy still has not come out and fixed the transmission. It would not be a big deal to me if the hose broke or something simple, but imagine if you bought a BRAND NEW car and the transmission broke 60 days after you bought it. You would take it back to get a new car. The customer service line could not care less about the issue. Manufacturer refuses to acknowledge quality issues. This is not exclusive for the washer or dryer, IT IS BOTH! P.S. I owned & operated a Whirlpool Cabrio washer & dryer for 6+ years before up-sizing & loved them! I was grossly misled by the retailer to believe the new Cabrio washer & dryer were the same as the previous model of Cabrio. They are not. Their performance is subpar. Not what I would expect from "top of the line". Washer does not spin out as dry as the previous model. It will not show error codes on display so I can deal with the issue at hand-it just shuts down. Dryer sensors do not work properly. It will not dry, or overdries to the point of shrinking clothing beyond use.
This $2800 purchase is continuing to cost me money. I have never been more upset with a purchase than this. I have to babysit these machines. There is a bolt in the back wall of the dryer drum. Hence my destroyed brand new hand crocheted afghan. Oh and did I tell you that their licensed repair man told me that I should not be laundering bedding in my machines at home? Apparently there are no home use machines on the market that are able to wash bedding. Sheets. Pillowcases. All of it needs to go to a commercial laundromat. Ha! Makes a person question who we let in our home. If you would like a positive - it's huge. But won't spin out a small load effectively.
I have recommended and led to sale of dozens of the previous Cabrio model. I will no longer be standing behind this model or company after the poor customer service. Their answers are scripted. The machine is always off balance and it's so loud that my almost deaf grandmother who can't hear a thing wants to know what that noise is when she's halfway across the house each time I'm doing laundry.
I've called Whirlpool and they have sent a tech out who insisted it was I who did not know how to load a washer and that was causing all of the problems. I found this interesting since I am 37 and never encountered difficulty with a washing machine before. Our visit concluded when he insisted it was user error and went on his way. The next day, the washer was not even cycling, and I phoned whirlpool back. This time, there was a computer problem and there was no arguing about it. The technician came back out reset the internal computer. The machine seemed to run more quietly for about a week, but went right back to it's old loud self. They charged the credit card immediately for the biggest piece of crap washing machine. Someone came out 2 days later and told me he has worked on a lot of Cabrios but never one in quite that condition.
I was led to believe that after charging the credit card, boxes would be arriving with parts to fix it. I called 2 days later to find out the status of when it would be repaired and they told me they already put a credit thru on the credit card because to fix it would be equal to the price of 2 brand new washing machines, and they will do nothing to honor that agreement. All the washers have Perma-press cycles. Whirlpool goofed with this model. They left it out. They have not provided a replacement machine for a consumer who blows this whistle on their goof. Among the solutions their customer support DID provide: add softeners to the rinse cycle and add dryer sheets to the dryer to reduce wrinkles [by purchasing a high-efficiency machine, we aimed to reduce waste, not increase it].
Among their invalid suggestions: choose the Casual cycle [there is no Casual cycle setting on this machine]; choose Normal cycle, then set spin speed to low [this machine disables the low speed choice on the Normal cycle]; on this machine the Perma-press cycle is renamed 'Delicate' [Wrong. Delicate only swishes clothes back and forth, not robust enough for business shirt colors and cuffs]; on this machine the Perma-press cycle is renamed 'Colors' [Wrong. Business shirts come out too wrinkled on Colors]. There has been nothing I can do to convince Whirlpool that they produced a lemon in this model [Model WTW6300WW0, Type 580] and should replace it with a normal washing machine. I have tried for years, only for Whirlpool to come to the same conclusion: it's the consumer's problem now, not theirs.

I purchased the Cabrio washer and dryer 4 years ago and had no problems until recently. The motor and the harness broke and the cost to repair was almost as much as a new washer. The repairman told me that this is a common problem with all washers that Whirlpool makes as they have the same motor and harness. He gave me a list of all the brands that they make and suggested if I buy one to get an extended warranty. I would not recommend anyone buy an appliance from a company that continues to manufacture faulty products. I wonder if they own the extended warranty company?

I bought Whirlpool Cabrio washer two months ago (Model number : WTW7300DW0). They indicate washer use less water and clean better, but that is not true. Some clothes on top of the load were not even getting wet and clothes smell bad after washing. Even worse is that clothes got holes in many places and some clothes were totally destroyed after washing. In just two months, I have to throw away many of my towels and clothes. I don't believe this kind of washer should be sold again. This should be a recall to give us a replacement ASAP and remove any products still in the market. There are many complaints online, I hope someone will stop this and do the right thing.

Then noticed small hole in my favorite shirt. Oh well. Next I found an area in my king sized bottom sheet with several holes and torn fibers. Thought maybe it might be from my toenails, except it wasn't where my feet would be. Finally a pair of capris (just worn twice) found with same type of holes and torn fibers. Dryer also inefficient. In September 2011, we purchased a Cabrio Washer and Dryer. Both appliances are extremely inferior. My first complaint to Whirlpool was in reference to the dryer. It kept overheating to the point that you couldn't even touch the clothes. In doing research I found this was a common problem and in some cases, even caused fires. After finding this out and contacting Whirlpool to complain and see if there were any recalls, they indicated they knew nothing about the problem and recalls would have to come from their legal department. I asked to speak with someone in that department and was told that was not possible. We threw the machine away and purchased a new no frills dryer. Now the washer has totally died. It would make noises, lockup, not spin, not clean, etc. Basically all the complaints other consumers have listed. It is now on the curb and I will again have a purchase a new washer.
The Whirlpool refrigerator I bought at the same time is a whole other story. Please do not buy Whirlpool. When contacted they show no empathy or concern about the inferiority of their products. There are only the 2 of us now and we do laundry one time a week. It amazes me how much money I am out between the initial purchases, repairs, and replacements. My daughter has also had the bad luck of purchasing Whirlpool appliances and is now experiencing the same problems.
Get the word out to all of your friends to NEVER purchase Whirlpool. They are apparently only concerned with their profits and not making good products or caring about their consumers problems. I made a very expensive mistake and will never purchase their products again. I have made them aware that I would be placing my review on your website along with the other 1,690 complaints. I have all my documentation re purchases, repairs, replacements and emails sent to Whirlpool. Unfortunately I cannot document all the calls made to this company. Bottom line, I'm very disappointed in the products and the lack of concern. Please do not purchase.

I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio HE washer back in July of 2010. I was excited to get it and absolutely loved it! Except in 2013, I noticed that whenever I put clothes on a HOT or WARM cycle, it put out COLD water. Whenever I put clothes on a COLD cycle, it would put out HOT water (not warm). It previously had not done this, so it could not have been a switch of the hoses. So, I've had to operate it on a backwards mode ever since (it's Sept. 2015).
For the past several weeks, it has had instances to where: it will not complete a cycle, will lock but not unlock, will start sensing and not stop - making a loud buzzing sound until you unplug it, will make an electrical clicking sound - even when it is turned off, will drain when you press start - even if the clothes are dry and you haven't turned it on for awhile, will not spin sometimes, will not fill up with water or spin - but will act like it is doing it, and the number of minutes countdown will go all funky - will say 50 min. then 2 min. then 30 min. and go all over the place. The past day or two has been really bad with all of the above listed happening back-to-back.
I tried unplugging and replugging it in. The last attempt to wash a load, I smelled burnt plastic. I thought the motherboard fried. I accessed the motherboard and everything looked squeaky clean and new (despite being 5 yrs. old). Couldn't see any wear out, or any burn marks. I got online to research diagnostics and came across this site and read all of the negative reviews. Some of which mimic the above listed problems. So, even though I have enjoyed the washer, I am rethinking my loyalty to Whirlpool. I bought a brand new Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer back in Feb. (2015), so perhaps it will not be built as shoddy or have as many problems as the washer. Let's hope. My family cannot afford new appliances at this time... especially can't afford to have to replace every 5 years. Hiring a technician or repair man ain't worth it either, the cheapest quote I got just to have someone look at the machine was $80. Nope.

When asking the Whirlpool representative about the rust, he assured us there were no other complaints. This is hard to believe since our recent research clearly shows that other brands have had to replace tops due to rust. As for clothes not cleaning, no response to this issue. Whirlpool has not trained salespersons and therefore at the mercy of Lowe's hard sales tactics and we were very delinquent in researching numerous complaints before purchasing Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Model WTW8240YWD - Ranked lowest possible from ConsumerAffairs with hundreds of complaints.
Whirlpool should be ashamed of product - clothes do not come clean, there is no soak cycle, no way to open mid cycle without losing all water, washer smells horribly, must be cleaned - are you kidding? Who cleans the washer that is supposed to clean clothes with a special cleaner?? We understand safety issues of water in open machine, wonder if Whirlpool understands the need to have a 'soak' feature to clean clothes.
Undereducated buyers like us and the totally undereducated salesperson at Lowe's were obviously a horrible combination. It was all about sales for them. No one mentioned and we had no clue that the huge drum would not clean clothes even using less water than a traditional machine. We thought 'platinum' meant a high quality machine. It clearly was a cleverly used buzz word for sales not a premier cleaning machine. Never, never, never purchasing Whirpool anything again. I pretty much have the same problem with ours which I had done some research before I bought ours. Does not complete full spin cycle and now it don't complete a wash cycle properly. We getting an error code that's not even in the book plus 10 other ones. We only had it a little over a year. It's a rip off. Don't buy one. Save your money and go with a better brand. They need to recall these POS machines and give people's money back.

At least three times a week the washing machine does not wring the water out of the clothes. The best Maytag wants to offer is to extend the warranty for one year. So washers are supposed to last for 2 years? Will never purchase a Maytag again!!!

I don't recommend this product to anyone. When you try to clean the washer it leaks out the bottom. After 2 years of use it now beeps 9 - 10 times and I have to reset it after each beep to get it to run. Then in the middle of the rinse cycle it does the same thing all over again. What a piece of junk. Plus it does not rinse well at all. Leaves a white residue on my blankets. NOT recommended at all.

Rust around the inside of the top of the washer. They do not use stainless for this part of the washer. It is some sort of cheap tin material that will rust in less than the first year. They have gone cheap on building but still think their products are worth the expensive price they ask. Do yourself a favor, pop the lid and look under what they do best to hide and also they removed the pop down door on the dryers so you cannot vacuum out the excess lint build up. Tragic lint gets hot and starts to burn in the gas models and stink. They should be ashamed of themselves. They have bought up most of their competition and now they have gone cheap on product production but not on price.

If you are considering a Cabrio washing machine, save yourself the aggravation and buy something else. I purchased a Cabrio model WTW5640X from Lowe's 2 years ago. It has been one disappointment after another. First, the clothes were coming out really wrinkled and not fully rinsed. I now routinely use the extra rinse cycle. I also started washing very small loads with hardly any soap (and yes, I use the HE detergent). That works for me, but it's not practical for a household of more than 2.
This machine is also not for anyone with kids or who expects to remove routine soils. It doesn't clean well. White socks start looking dingy after a few washes, and even the hot cycle with bleach doesn't get whites white. Now, the washer has started shutting off with the clothes still soaking wet. I can press the Drain & Spin cycle to get it finish the job, but that adds another 13 minutes to the 63 minutes it already takes for a regular cycle with the extra rinse. I so wish I had not replaced my 15 year old Kenmore.

My comments are similar to all the other comments on here regarding the Whirlpool Cabrio washer: I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 5 years ago and have been sorry every wash day since. I have to wash my clothes twice because the machine doesn't fill the tub with enough water to get the clothes clean. I have tried using the bulky setting for all loads to try to get the water level high enough to at least cover the clothes. This is a terrible design and the worst piece of junk. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again...

Whirlpool can't locate a part for it nor do they want to replace it. I think it's time to get a Lawyer involved. I've been calling for weeks now and have gotten nothing but the run around from all very Rude employees. I'm turning this over to a lawyer. I'm done dealing with Whirlpool. For a large corp I'm very aggravated and severely disappointed with them. Wish I never bought their appliances. NEVER AGAIN.

Bought this model from Bad Boy in 2006 and just after the warranty ended the problems began. We kept getting the F1 error code so with a little internet research we found it was a known problem with Whirlpool. I contacted them and was told they knew nothing about this issue being nationwide, however I emailed them copies of the complaints and responses. They sent out a technician who had to replace the motherboard free of charge. Next issue was a loud noise coming from washer sounding like a jet plane taking off. Hubby ripped machine apart to find the bearings blown apart and in tiny pieces. We ordered new ones and also found that when the new ones arrived they came with a tube of grease and a sealer to use so water would not get in later and cause more problems. Funny there was no sealer on the original bearings.
Next the lid lock finally failed, ordered a new one but did NOT install it back into the machine, now it sits beside the machine. In case it fails again we will have total access to the laundry this time. Finally the UL error code keeps coming up. I refuse to put any more money into this machine again so I am allowing hubby to fix it if he chooses, whichever way he wants as long as no money is involved. So right now we have bungee cords holding the suspension rods tight to help with the uneven load code coming up all the time. Personal thoughts - DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL washer/dryers. They are crap and the company just does not care and they try to lie their way out of repairs if people have not done their homework.

My boyfriend looked the parts to fix the washer, since I called Lowe's concerning the warranty and it's out. Cost to repair, just in parts would be around $400, I paid a lot of money for a product to last only 2 1/2 yrs. Such a lack of quality in workmanship. With these price, there should be better quality. Do not purchase a whirlpool. 2 washers for them in 5 yrs is not a great track record.

Whirlpool Duet WFW94HEAW0 Washer - Bought the machine in Feb 2014 and was generally very pleased with it. However a few weeks ago we started getting "oil/grease" stains on clothing. Wasn't sure what was causing it but it has now got so bad that the machine can't be used. An internet search indicates it is possibly a ball racer ring and doesn't sound an uncommon issue. A call to Whirlpool resulted in a quote for circa $350 for a service call. That's a 1/3rd of the original value (includes a 12 month warranty). And it's just over a year old!!! We had a problem with the Maytag Neptune that ended in a class action suit and now this replacement machine seems to be even worse. I would recommend anyone to really consider what to buy and give this range a miss.

I have been on the phone with Home Depot and they have no solution but to wait one week for a repairman. Very dissatisfying service. Now I am running a 20 foot, 3 prong, heavy duty extension cord into living area where there are no GFIC outlets and it has been running. I purchased the Cabrio washer and dryer and paid for the extended warranty from Lowe's about 5 years ago. After about a year, the washer had problems with excessive vibration and noise. Under Lowe's warranty, a repairman came and adjusted the level. He came out several more times and made other adjustments, replaced the drum, then bearings and raised the level again. He said he could not declare the washer a lemon, even though it was because they were told this was taboo. They were instructed to do whatever they could to keep the washer going throughout the life of the warranty. Now the washer stops mid-cycle and an fl or f1 error code appears on the control board. I contacted Customer Service who said I can purchase another extended warranty for over $300 or pay their repairman for the visit including parts and labor. What I paid for the extended warranty and to purchase a new one would pay for a new washer.

The worst washing machine ever. First off you cannot turn the water on to let it fill and add clothes as it's filling. Secondly the "Normal" setting will not allow you to spin on low, your choice is high or no spin. High tangles your pants, slacks, shirts, etc. No spin leaves them soaking wet. Also it's a water safer but never, never, never covers the clothes in water, and sometimes they don't come out smelling so clean. I don't save water if I have to rewash two or three times. Absolutely hate this washing machine. When I get enough money I am going back to the old agitator model and not any Whirlpool either. Oh and the other thing, you can't just throw you clothes in the washer, you must arrange then to the outside of the center itty bitty agitator. Hate it.

On black stains I sorted clothes very carefully so that nothing dark or black was in with other color or white clothes, still the same stains. Brand new capri pants ruined with first washing. Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine F1 code - We have had this washing machine for over 6 years now, and ever since our 3 year warranty time was up, the washing machine will only stop, and display the F1 code as soon as the wash cycle has completed, with 23 minutes left. To start off, with this problem, it is causing me more water, and electricity that should not have to be wasted if the machine worked properly. I called the place where I got the machine, and was told to give Whirlpool a call. I did this, and was told that there was nothing that could be done, and if I would like to schedule an appointment for a tech to come out and work on it, they could do that. YES, I would have to pay for it. Needless to say, the washer has been doing this for over 6 years, and if there is a way to get it fixed WITHOUT having to pay for the repairs, that would be wonderful.

Purchased the machine in 2008 for $800. I did not have any problems (wash 3-4 loads/week), pleased with the washing until July 2015 when the machine was spinning out of control and the machine moved approx. 1 foot across the floor (thank goodness I did not have it on a pedestal as it may have tipped over). I canceled the run. This was a fine washables load of 5 sweaters placed on a medium spin.
Scheduled the Whirlpool authorized service tech to come out and fix. He indicated there is extensive repair required and would cost approx. $1800. And indicated he has seen this failure before and it is due to the plastic parts inside. Also, he has seen these washers last about 5-7 years before replacement. Wow, last washer I had was a Maytag and it lasted 15 years costing 1/3 the price of the Whirlpool Duet. Now perplexed on what to buy, called Whirlpool Customer Experience Center to register my complaint and asked if there were any updates to the product that would avoid this failure. The center indicated there are updates but they are confidential and did not know if this failure was addressed.

I also contacted Whirlpool and was told I could call for service for several weeks since it was still under warranty. I asked why call for service when I was told it could not be fixed.
I did have it serviced again and told it was a problem with the design. Numerous items of clothing were ruined which I showed the technician. He gave me a phone number to contact Whirlpool. They in turn said there was nothing they could do for me. I usually place items in laundry bags for delicate fabrics but for obvious reasons not all items fit in a bag. I have never had such terrible service nor experienced an appliance that operates so poorly. I am surprised there are not more complaints with this problem. I am getting numerous "F1" codes on my Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine, Model #WTW6600SW2. By doing thorough research on this issue I can see the problem is in a "known defective" control board (part #W10130544). This part has even been replaced by Whirlpool with a new control board costing around $300 for just the part. After calling for repair service, two people (1 agent and 1 supervisor) refused to acknowledge any known issues with this part and further refused to any type of repair or replacement of the part. It is impossible for anyone in that position to not have knowledge of this problem. Simply look on the internet for a countless number of people with this very same complaint.
Even though my washer is eight years old it has had very little use. There are only two grown adults in this household and the machine has never been abused or overused. It still looks new. Whirlpool should be honest and responsible when dealing with this type of problem. They should agree to pay for the part and repair service... at the very least they should agree to pay for the part.

I bought a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer in September 2013 and washer is already broken. It leaks out the front of the front loading door (yes, I clean it as advised, including leaving door open to air dry etc). I am a retired senior citizen and my wife and I spend 6 months of the year in Florida so the washer has barely been used since we are barely home and it's not like we are trying to wash load after load of heavily soiled items daily. I would not recommend this product at all!! The repair people said it would cost approximately $300 to fix and offered a plan to fix it for $350 with a 1 year warranty. Why should I bother to do either if I will have to do same after 1 year? This machine is barely used and broke?!
The customer service people were not helpful and seemed only interested selling me the repair plan to fix what should not need fixing. So, to recap - I bought the machine in 9/13 then went to Florida from 10/13 to 4/14 (so it was used 1 month). Then, it was used from 4/14 until 10/14 (6 months). I returned from Florida this year in April 2015 and it started leaking in June 2015 (2 months). So, my machine has been used for a grand total of 9 months and it is already broken!!! Stay far away. Whirlpool should come and replace this machine for us for free if they care anything about customer service and senior citizens but clearly they do not. In Florida we have an old Sears Kenmore machine that has lasted for over 20 years!!
