I recently purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and it is the worst product ever!! It does not wash the clothes, it tangles it in knots and has ruined all of my clothes because it leaves holes in the clothing. I have had multiple service calls and all of the diagnostics check out. It is a horrible product that should be recalled and Whirlpool customer service does not stand by their product. Their supervisors and customer service is very rude and I will never purchase another Whirlpool product!!! I plan on posting my complaint everywhere possible.

I bought a commercial coin operator washer (Whirlpool washer model CAE2743BQ) for $800 and after using it for 4 months the washer stop working. The main board panel lights turned all and the washer did not start. Called Whirlpool several times and nobody could help me and told me to look online for a distribution center to get parts. The customer service only knew about regular washers not coin operator. The washer had only 3 months warranty from Home Depot and I was supposed to pay for all the repairs and Whirlpool would pay for parts.

So far I spend $400 in repairs and the certified technicians could not repair the washer. They replaced the actuator shift, the main board etc, etc and nothing. The technicians reset the washer at least 10 times, calling Whirlpool tech support and the washer worked for one load and the main board lights stayed on all over again, the start button did not work. I sent a letter to the warranty department that I got online and they told me to call the same 1800 that I had called at least 50 times in the past year. Now it has been more than one year and the machine is defective. Technician said could be the soap that my tenants are using, or overloading the washer or an electric problem that they cannot identify. I gave up... I will not buy a coin operator heavy duty washer from them again. I requested a return authorization for a defective product and I did not get anywhere. Thanks.

Purchase 2009 Duet Washer & Dryer (WFW9700VW00). Recently have had error codes coming up - F35 for one. Could not get washer to reset. Had to keep unplugging and plugging back in. Service was called and the tech knew right away what was wrong. He ordered and installed an analog pressure switch. While he was working he mentioned that this was a known error and if we had called with this problem a couple years ago Whirlpool would have replaced the washer. I'm not looking for a replacement but I feel Whirlpool should cover the part having been a known issue.

This washer started out to be good. It's only 5 yrs old. We began to smell an odor. Went to Lowe's, spoke with someone in appliance dept. Purchased something for washer. DID NOT WORK. We have tried bleach everything. Our clothes smell. I have skin rashes and I think it is related to mold and mildew. Called the service center. They said could be a sock stuck around the tub area. They need to recall this washer. We spent a lot of money and it has ruined everything. Cannot get the odor out. We cannot afford another one. There is black mold around the rubber lining when you open up the door.

They provided 2 repair places near me. The repair shops recommended buying a new washer since the repair is so costly. A 4 year old washer used by 2 people should have bearings that last more than 4 years.

I had a 3 year old Maytag top of the line washer that left my clothes looking like someone had braided them together. The water level was so low sometimes some of the clothes had dry areas after washing. Fortunately, it refused to spin and since I was so unhappy with it we didn't fix it, we purchased a new one. Not a Maytag! My Whirlpool Cabrio is perfect. Not only does it do a great cleaning job, the clothes come out without being tangled. I've washed everything from sheer curtains to stuffed dog beds and everything washed perfectly without tangling or going out of balance in the spin cycle. To top it off it cost almost $300 less than my Maytag!

Purchased both Cabrio washer (wtw6200sw2) & dyer brand new in 2007 for $1200. Within 4 years the motherboard went out. Whirlpool didn't want to fix it. They said it was past warranty. After many complaints to corporate, they sent someone out to repair it for $496 (they paid). Repairman said these models had motherboards from Japan & Whirlpool was aware of the many issues, but wouldn't do a recall. 2009, the springs went out, 2011 F codes began to appear. Clothes don't get clean; not enough water. 2014 & 2015 DU & DL codes appear. Now I need a new Lid latch assembly. These washing machines are not worth buying. Never again will I buy another Whirlpool!! My mom had an old Kenmore that lasted 20 years and only needed a replacement belt. No more fancy high end washers for me!

We bought an expensive Whirlpool 3 years ago. Since then it has been serviced 4 times for the same error code each time. Eventually the whole control panel was replaced and it actually worked for 4 months. And then again shows the error code 51. Now Whirlpool will do nothing to help because our extended warranty was up a few weeks ago. How is that ok? I understand if you have the first problem after 3 years when the warranty is up. But how is it the same when you've had the same problem over and over and had it "fixed" 4 times??? I will never buy anything from Whirlpool again!

I purchased my Whirlpool washer and dryer Cabrio Platinum model in September of 2014 from Lowe's and have never been so disappointed in a washer in my life. Not only was it the most expensive washer and dryer set I have ever purchased but it is the absolute worst in performance. It has destroyed most of my clothes and linens, doesn't get them as clean as my former Samsung front-loader, and is constantly twisting up the clothes, getting out of balance and requiring me to adjust the clothes once or twice during each wash cycle. On recent research, I have found that I am not the only one experiencing these problems. Whirlpool should RECALL this series entirely! And I intend to post this review every place I can to prevent future sales of this horrible product.

First of all, I would like to tell everyone who ever reads this, that please please please never ever use any Whirlpool products, as their service sucks, their response sucks too, and zero co-operation from their people, which will make you regret to have used their products in future. Please note I registered a complaint on the whirlpool no. **.

The complaint was that the washing machine used by us had issues, the power button/ on & off button had come out, and this was clearly stated while registering the complaint. I get a call from Mr. ** (Representative of shree enterprises bibwewadi, pune) and the power button issue was well informed to him as well over the phone by me. He arrived to our place without any new material, he sees the machine and interchanges the buttons, i.e. the broken power button is replaced by other button from my machine which was less used compared to the power button. I had to pay a sum of rs. 400/- for the pathetic service I received from your end.

I expect a response from your side within next 4 hours, or I might have to escalate this issue!!! (Please note Whirlpool team that I had submitted the same on your website yesterday, yet I have not received any response from your side). (Whirlpool rating- 0 out of 100). Thanks. We bought a Whirlpool washing machine, and what a mistake! I just got off the phone with their "customer we don't care" department. It spins everything into a tight ball so when the clothes come out of the washing machine everything needs ironed, even permanent press. It also changes the water temperature. I like to wash some clothes in cold water, but the representative at Whirlpool told me it will sometimes add hot water to make the water "warm". I am hoping this review will save others from purchasing a Whirlpool washing machine. This machine (WTW8040DW) has been a problem from the start. The loads, especially towels, sheets, and jeans, never stop cycling between rinse and spin. Keeps cycling from 18 down to 12 back up to 18 minutes to go etc. I guess the load may be out of balance but there is no indicator of an out of balance load. For a high-efficiency model, we waste more water than our previous machine and never had this kind of problem. We let a load of sheets run for 3 hours just to see how long it would take... and I suspect it would still be running if we didn't stop it and try to re-balance it. Had to do that 3 times before it would actually spin out correctly. Whirlpool should get it together and make a model that just works. Too much reliance on the computer and all the sensors and just plain doesn't work.

I like the dryer fine, but months later, I'm still unhappy with the washer. While it washes OK, it takes forever to wash a load. Most of the time, it does not spin the clothes out enough. There is no way to just spin again. You have to go through a rinse/spin cycle and you may or may not get lucky with a sufficient spinning. Why can't they just have a spin cycle and why does it have to take so long to wash a simple load of clothes? I have bought many Whirlpool appliances, but this is my last ever.

We purchased a Whirlpool front loading washer about three years ago. During our first year the machine worked OK, but three months after warranty expiration (12 month warranty), the sensors seems to go wonky and it no longer worked (at 15 months of age). We paid about $95 in the Minneapolis area for a service call. The repairman had to call Whirlpool from our home to inquire about the sequence of flashing lights on the sensor. After getting off the phone he told us he thought he knew the problem, but could not guarantee that the $200+ part he suggested ordering would solve the problem. The installation would require additional labor charges, of course.

I reported the incident to the manager of the repair service and was told the repairman was expert in Whirlpools but this did not further inspire confidence. We were not willing to sink this amount into the machine, so ditched it and bought a top-loading inexpensive Roeper. The top-loading machine definitely appears harder on the clothes than the front loading Whirlpool, but it gets the clothes cleaner and has been problem-free so far.

It seemed okay, but I did always have to leave the front door open and it always smelled musty, which was of some concern. My clothes never smell totally fresh. The biggest current problem is that several months ago it started with a failure code, alternately would stop without draining, wouldn't fill, or wouldn't drain, and ultimately ended up flooding my basement. So we called for service and they replaced a sensor and said these machines seem to have a lot of service issues with sensors blowing and motors dying. So I paid them that time. We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio about 3 years ago. Have never really like it. It doesn't add enough water to the wash cycle unless you use the "bulky" setting, which fills the tub up the entire way, so wastes water. It would have been nice to choose your water level like you could on the old machines. Now it won't drain completely and won't spin totally. I've tried using the drain/spin cycle 2-3 times extra and it still won't spin all the water out. I've noticed that there is still water in the drum, you can hear it slosh when you move the drum, so I wonder - has anyone ever been told there is a filter in there somewhere that might be clogged keeping it from draining completely?

My husband thinks that maybe all the water in the bottom of the drum is not letting it spin because it's throwing it off balance. And yes, it stops before the cycle is complete and just sits there and blinks and you have to unplug it to clear the cycle. What a pain. We will never again buy a Whirlpool and I absolutely do not recommend Whirlpool washers. I have a Maytag as well and have not yet had problems with it. Bought it at the same time we bought the Cabrio (2 households). At least the water levels in the Maytag are a little more normal. You can wash more than 1 pair of jeans and get them clean in the Maytag. For those of you with the problem of the clothes not smelling clean - try running the clean cycle with a cup of bleach about once a week. No clothes in it - just a cup of bleach in the bleach dispenser and nothing else. Works for us.

When I expressed frustration at spending so much on a product that lasted only 3 years I was told "This is not a known quality issue or recall. I will document a complaint for you." The chat session was then terminated by the customer service representative. We will spend over $300 to replace the part that Whirlpool obviously knows is flawed. However, I will not pay for an additional Whirlpool repair service to fix something that should not have broke in the first place. And Whirlpool (including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn - Air, etc.) will never get our business again.

The washer works to it design and hasn't broke down but it doesn't clean our clothes. We load the machine, add the right amount of clothes and recommended detergents and 1hr later after the wash cycle is completed, the clothes still stink with the smell of daily perspiration. I went back to using our old washer that has a worn out agitator. It does a better job.

This part costs $320 to replace. They told me since it is no longer under the one year warranty they could not help me. This is a major part in less than 5 years of the machine's use. I guess I will be purchasing another washer. It will not be a Whirlpool or any company affiliated with them. How sad. I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone. They just don't make them or stand behind them like they used to.

This washer is going back. It simply will not spin the water out of the clothes. It says it gets clothes drier than a conventional washer, but I have not found that to be true. I have to use the drain/spin cycle over and over and still the clothes are wet. I had the repair crew out and they were able to get it to spin out a very small load consisting of two sheets and two towels. Other than that, it does not spin out water.

It is also very difficult to load if you attempt to leave the center open as they recommend. The cycles are very long. Not being able to look inside without pausing it and waiting for it to unlock is also a huge hassle. I am getting one with a glass top so I can see what is going on. If you leave it open for too long, it cancels the cycle and drains all the water, and you have to start over which is another problem because all your detergent just got drained out before the load gets going. It uses so little water on most of the cycles that the clothes get totally tangled up with one another. I think you should be able to choose the water level manually. I am all for saving water but if I want more water from time to time, this does not allow you to do that. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We have had a Whirlpool dishwasher for about 2.5 years and have been happy with how it cleans dishes. About a year ago we replaced our counter top and in the process had to adjust the bend in the mountain brackets that attach the dishwasher to the underside of the counter. This requires flexing the thin piece of aluminum at the perforated line. In the process, one of the brackets snapped. The other was barely still intact and broke several months later. I tried jerry-rigging them, but eventually decided to replace them and called Whirlpool customer service to ask for replacement parts.

Unfortunately, Whirlpool wanted to charge me $10.50 apiece and another $9.00 for shipping and handling. These parts could not cost more than a few cents apiece. I was shocked that they would charge me $30.00 to replace these flawed parts. Never have I had such and experience with any customer service department. The three people I spoke with were all rude and unapologetic about my situation. Two blamed it on the install...I've installed plenty of dishwashers and never had any problems in the past. Even if it was a failure on my behalf, the simple replacement of the parts for a reasonable charge would have been fine by me.

I told them I'd be happy to pay a few dollars and to pay the full shipping fee (which was also high, in my opinion), but they refused to meet me halfway. I can only think that this is part of their business plan...make dishwashers with sub-par parts, and then over charge for the replacement parts when they fail. Well, I re-upped my jerry-rigging efforts and have improved the engineering of the faulty part. Save my $30. But Whirlpool will never again get my business and I'll be sure to steer clients and friends away from this brand as well.

The Whirlpool delivery team and the service team can't seem to coordinate a time together for the replacement. We had to make a first appointment for the service guy to uninstall the old unit, the second appt for the delivery guy to drop off the new unit and pick up the old and a 3rd appt to install the new unit. Each appt has a 4 hour wait window. This is their standard procedure, which is totally inconvenient to customers.

To make matter worse, the delivery guy came too early for a condo delivery (before 9 AM) and told us he will be back the next day. And he didn't show up. It looks like now we actually have to have 5 appts (including the 2 missed appts by their delivery guy) to have the washer replaced. All the time I wasted waiting for this delivery is worth more than the washer itself. What would be 4 hours X 5 appts = 20 hours. This is the worst customer experience ever. It's snapping by the hinges. I have been charged about $300 per lid. I believe the hinges are not durable enough to support the weight of the glass lid. I have read hundreds of reviews regarding the same model and issues, I also have a friend who has the same model and is experiencing the same issues and has had to replace the lid twice now. I'm disappointed that Whirlpool has not taken accountability for this and either issue a recall or replace the lid at no charge to the customer. If there has been so many complaints, why hasn't Whirlpool taken action on this? I am requesting that the Whirlpool Headquarters address this issue immediately.

When I called customer service to complain about this issue, the rep informed me that they have never heard about this issue before. From all the reviews I have read online, it seems that customer service is telling them the same thing. By not addressing this defect, Whirlpool will lose thousands of customers. This is not the way to retain or have returning customers. This is the first time I have purchased a Whirlpool appliance. I will not be a returning customer if this matter is not resolved.

UPDATED ON 10/28/2015: This is an update to my previous review. 1st, I contacted Whirlpool who was absolutely NO help whatsoever and the person I spoke to refused to put me through to higher ups on the food chain. I was wrong in my previous review when I stated that we purchased the washer & dryer 4 yrs ago. It was purchased in January 2012. Started making noise in 2014 and has progressively turned into the sound of a freight train. I also failed to mention the stench that comes from this machine. It has also got to the point where it quits with 10 minutes to go in every wash.

Whirlpool did send out a "Whirlpool certified technician", which they paid for, who stated this has been a common issue with these and other models of Whirlpool Cabrio wash machines. Says in his 3 yrs with the company he has seen and diagnosed over 30 machines with basically the same issues (bearings are SHOT) and Whirlpool refuses to accept any responsibility for the defective design and that, in his opinion, they should've never been released. He gave me an estimate of $257.13 to repair. We decided to go ahead with the repair and technician came out only to tell me that there has been a "re-work" in the design of the replacement parts as Whirlpool realized they were faulty.

So I now have to wait for the NEW designed replacement parts to come in as they are back ordered. WTF does that mean??? Shouldn't there be a RE-CALL and shouldn't they accept responsibility for this??? This has been, without a doubt, the most disappointment we've had with any purchase of a NEW appliance or, anything else for that matter, in our lives. After reading through some of these same complaints I'm wondering if this machine is nothing, but a money pit and what's going to go wrong next. We also purchased the Cabrio dryer at the same time and have had no issues with it as of this time, but I assure you, I wait with baited breath. Their customer service department is piss poor AT BEST!! Please, stay away from ALL Whirlpool appliances in the future.

They sent a second inept person to try and install the part they did send and it did not work (He was the most condescending person I have ever met but that is another story.). Of course it did not work and they actually have to replace the control panel AND the electrical panel (which as you know was ordered by the original tech, but taken off the order by who knows?). Now they are telling me that the part that they should have ordered 2 weeks ago is on back order until sometime in May. All I am getting from Whirlpool is lip service and they honestly do not care one tiny little bit that I have a dryer under warranty that will not have been working now for close to six weeks. This is unacceptable business practices.

For the record I bought the unit at LOWE'S and they too refuse to stand behind the product. Basically told me tough they have nothing to do with it. I also purchased an $8000 Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) Refrigerator 5 years ago and the control panel went out about 4 years later. They stopped making the part and I have to THROW away an $8000 refrigerator because they don't make the part for it.

As evidenced above, Whirlpool products do not stand the test of time and when they do break (even under warranty), they cannot fix them in a timely manner or at all in the case of the refrig (not under warranty). I caution every reader of this diatribe to choose wisely WHERE you purchase your appliances and carefully select a brand other than Whirlpool (and its brand affiliates of Kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Amana and certain Kenmore products).

I feel that at the end of the day I do owe Whirlpool a good feedback. Our top load washer stopped rinsing so I checked the clutch, agitator dogs and coupler which all looked brand new. So I thought I'd take the trans apart and after pulling the plastic agitator out I noticed the tub had completely rusted in half! The tub dropped down about an inch. The agitator would spin but the tub just sat there.

Now came the difficult part. I told them I was quite sure about my diagnostic that it needed a new tub and told them I could send them a video (I even posted a video on Facebook and Twitter). But they said they would have to send a man out at $180 to make sure! After several days of back and forth conversations, someone at Whirlpool finally saw the video and agreed to send us a new tub. I haven't gotten it yet but have heard through the grapevine that these tubs were supposed to be replaced if rusted because of the quality of metal used? So other than pulling a few teeth and needing to replace the tub, our washer has been a pretty good machine.

8 cu. ft. Cabrio® High-Efficiency Top Load Washer with Steam - I bought a new washer. It did a poor job rinsing and spinning dry. Whirlpool customer threatened me that a service charge may be charge if the repairman came out and found nothing wrong. After calling three times I ordered a repairman out. The repairman explained that only way to prevent soap residue on your "clean" clothes is to use the "bulky" and "deep water" options. Also don't use high spin or when it spins your clothes dry, it leaves them in a tangled mess that requires ironing to remove the wrinkles. This washer is not ready for the market and must be removed until they can perfect it. It cost me $200 to return and exchange this model for the Front Load Duet, which works excellent. Whirlpool should be ashamed to have ever put this machine on the market.

First it started making this loud sound when on the spin cycle, so I had a repair guy come out. He told me that the bearings needed replaced so (how does bearings goes out in 3 yrs). I asked how much will it be to replace parts/labor. The Parts cost $250 and the labor is $200. I might as well buy a new washing machine.

I have grin and beared it for two years pulling clothes out that are tangled and not even wet enough that I am finally fed up. This washing machine is a piece of crap. If you wash dark clothes 9 out of 10 times you can pull them out and see dry spots on them. I hate the fact that it saves on water and uses less water. Great, you're saving my water bill but destroying my clothes so I don't see a win-win with this washer. It's awful, don't buy a Whirlpool. I repeat, don't buy a Whirlpool!!!

It literally twist the clothes so tangled it can't even get them clean. Nothing smells clean because it can't wash because there is no water. I regularly clean the washer with the washing machine cleaner but that does nothing for its overall awful performance. If you are set on buying one of these please call me because I would love to get rid of this piece of crap!!!

Purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washer with the glass lid. This is not a good washer to buy! The clothes do not get clean. Have to set it to "bulk" to get enough water to even cover clothes. Biggest issue is the lid. I have had to order a new one as it cracked on both sides back by control panel. I took the old lid off and discovered why the lid cracked. I have read many complaints about this same issue and everyone said Whirlpool would do nothing about it or even acknowledge there was a problem.

Here is the problem. On each side there is a spring to hold the lid up while in the open position. The lid is plastic. When I tried to push those lid pins down with the lid off they would not go down. The springs are too strong for the plastic. When the lid is down the springs are trying to hold the lid up, so they are pushing against the plastic. Given time the springs win out against the plastic and the lid cracks and breaks. I am just a simple housewife and I figured this out! I hope that every manufacturer that is making glass top lids STOPS making them out of plastic, uses metal instead, uses a spring that is not as strong, or foregoes the current design and comes up with something that is better. It is for certain that I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance!

Purchased this beautiful sleek Cabrio washer in May 2012 from "Appliance Smart", with its modern looking glass top, it looked so nice. The washer itself works ok for now, but it does unbalance a lot, thats not main issue. We deal with that. The poor design of holding that sleek glass top in is the problem. After a little over two years, it started cracking at the hinge that is just mounted in Plastic which holds the whole lid down, including the heavy glass. The glass started raising up, causing steam to escape. The lid is rubbing and very difficult to open. Appliance Smart is gone now.. We called the service repair person about 6 months ago, he looked at it, said its a problem that is not covered on our warranty and it would be approx $350.00 to repair!!

So today, tomorrow or next week it will stop working because the lid is popping off! Its a terrible design, dont be fooled by its sleek look. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for this major design flaw. Beware, the very thing you need to be fixed wont be covered under warranty, lemon law, or just good customer service. We have owned several Whirlpool appliances and doubt that we will own one again, due to the way this issue was handled by Whirlpool.

Please do not buy any Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine or dryer. We purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer/dryer set in 2006/2007 and paid close to two grand for them. The washing machine worked fine for the first year and a half. Then we started getting F1 error codes. I called and Whirlpool said that the main board would need to be replaced for $400. We held off until 2012. In 2011 the washer finished a cycle and the lid would not open. The lid lock did not retract back into place. I tried everything.

Eventually I ended up forcing the lid open and cracking the PLASTIC lid lock. In 2012 I had someone come out and replace the main board. It worked fine for about a month, then one day I was home doing laundry and all of a sudden I heard a loud bang. I look in my laundry room to find the washer destroyed and leaking water everywhere. We replaced our Whirlpool Cabrio Washing machine in August 2012 for a new Samsung front loader.

That was just the washer. The dryer worked OK till 2013. The dryer finished a cycle normally. When I put a new load in and started it, no noise came from the dryer and it was not spinning or heating. I called Whirlpool and they said that a fuse would need to be replaced and that it would cost 350 dollars to be replaced. In September 2013 we replaced our Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer with a new Samsung.

In the last few months we have encountered brown spots on clothing. The washer has always spent an inordinate amount of time Scanning. It does not matter how much I readjust the load. I ALWAYS must do an extra Spin and Drain. Sometimes Rinse and Drain helps...sometimes not. Sometimes the machine indicates it MIGHT be finished washing but only the clothing on the bottom of the load is damp. It does not rinse the soap out. Recently when I washed my husband's coat several times -- he had to finally hang it in the shower when he bathed to get the soap out.

We had repairmen out once when we had the warranty. They said the drainage hose was wrong. We adjusted that. I called Whirlpool more than once about our problems. They said they could not help because we had no warranty. OK. One young lady said we could get a 5 year warranty for $353. For $499 we might get a machine without all the 747 dials and tweets and fewer government, EPA amenities. What's wrong with this picture? My old washer lasted 30 years. We are very, very sorry we did not repair it. All I want is a washer that will provide me with clean clothing, towels, sheets and blankets in a timely manner. That does not seem to me to be too much to expect. I am considering a washboard! Or the shower for ALL my laundry! I am angry and frustrated. I always considered Whirlpool a good brand.

I NEVER thought that it was my washing machine that was ruining my clothing, until I finally opened the door one day and my shirt was hanging from the top of the washer opening, and suddenly it all made sense! I kept thinking that the puppy was chewing my clothes but it is actually the washer that is sucking my clothing into the opening of the washer and when it gets stuck and the rest of the garment keeps spinning, it creates a "burn" in the clothing. I found out the hard way that Whirlpool will just blame the consumer for not knowing how to properly follow washing instructions, or their instructions, and will not take any sort of responsibility for it being the washer itself!

I wrote to them after my father passed away and I washed his sweater in the washer and it got caught in the washer and ruined it. They blamed me for it and basically said I did not follow the proper washing instructions. I have been washing clothes for over 20 years and I know how to do laundry. I have read every inch of the owners manual and NOTHING tells you that during the wash cycle, your clothes may become sucked into the opening and ruined! So I went online to see if this was happening to anyone else and I was amazed at how many people this is actually happening to! I was told this is a energy saving machine, which means you can only wash very small loads!

I was told the problem had been addressed. Now I'm having the same problem... the washer is so loud when spinning, you can hear it on the opposite end of the house with doors closed! So the bearing problem has NOT BEEN ADDRESSED!!! Whirlpool will not stand by this product!! Loyalty is not a factor in their assistance... Only profit!!!

We ordered a new Whirlpool washer and dryer from Sears (avoid this store at all cost!!!) and even chose the Whirlpool over an comparable LG and Kenmore because we wanted to buy American (and paid a slight premium for this honor). After the first week the FIRST washer displayed error codes, locked the door with the clothes inside and went stone cold dead. Sears took 12 days to send a part and another 2 to send a technician. The repaired FIRST washer lasted one day and had the exact same technical problem. After battling with a very polite but entirely incompetent Sears, they took away the washer and replaced it with a new Duet (aka Washer #2). One day later, the exact same tech problem including locking in the wet clothes. That makes this model a dud. I have a lot more to say about how bad Sears is but this is a washer review. Do not buy this Whirlpool model.

We purchased a Whirlpool dryer about two years ago. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to compose a letter stating my dis-satisfaction until now. After much research and haggling we decided on the 'Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum' model, a very efficient (we thought), and even attractive model. It has proven to cost us much more than we bargained for, as EVERY time I do a dark wash, which is usually two to three times a week I must re-wash the items once or twice after! All of the items come out of the wash with white spots all over. Thinking it is soap, I run the wash again on a rinse cycle: nothing changes. Then I redo the wash - this time not using soap. The result is a bit better, but I still have to take a wet washcloth and rub the areas out.

I did voice a complaint one time to which I received a letter stating that I should read my manual, specifically the troubleshooting guide. I don't have time for this. Again, we purchased this machine for its cost and efficiency, yet it's ending up costing much more than it should as for every load I do (of dark clothes), I have to do one or two additional. (No telling what is on the light or white clothes that I cannot see because of their color!) This machine has been a total waste of time and money; I will never purchase another Whirlpool machine as I am extremely dissatisfied with this product.

Our Whirlpool dryer broke less than 3 months after we bought it. We called Whirlpool and spent more than 2 hours on the phone. They sent someone out and that person told us he couldn't fix the part that was broken. He gave us a phone number to call and we called and spent another hour on the phone after which we were told to call Whirlpool back. We called them on 3 separate days and spent hours on the phone trying to contact real people. After another week (during which time the dryer went out of warranty) we had to call someone to fix it. After that we spend a month calling and emailing Whirlpool to get reimbursed for the almost $400 we spent fixing it. No luck. We were told that it was out of warranty and we didn't use a Whirlpool technician. I was hung up on, given the runaround through phone menus, continually told it wasn't the correct department, and finally that Whirlpool doesn't cover it. Bottom line is...never buy Whirlpool.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW5000DW - I have owned at least two other washers in my life, and I just recently bought a new washer/dryer set at HHgregg. Was told they are "doing away" with agitator washing machines in the very near future so this is my first experience with a top load agitator-less washer. This thing is AWFUL!! First of all it took a minute to get used to the weird popping, grinding noises it makes while going through the cycle (which I might add seems to take FOREVER). The other thing I hate about it is there is no way to add the fabric softener at the start of the wash in this model unless you have a "downy ball" of which I have yet to find at my local dollar store or even the KROGER??? So I run back and forth trying to "catch" the rinse cycle to STOP the machine (wait I might add) and then add the FS manually.

BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORSE THING is - my clothes come out with SPOTS that look like lint all over them, and they won't wipe off unless you have a wet rag to do it with!! AND YES - I have cleaned this washer TWICE already since January with the very expensive "AFFRESH". I wear scrubs and they are solid colors, so it really shows up and I have to wipe off every pair EVERY day before I put them on then roll a lint brush down them. WHO HAS TIME FOR THIS??? This is on my SOLID colors which is easy to see, I can only imagine the GUNK that is on the rest of my laundry!!! I don't feel like my laundry is getting clean at all!! I am divorced and money is tight - I paid around $500 buck for this piece of crap. I am already seriously thinking of getting me another one - the OLD tried and true kind with an AGITATOR! And yes I am ANGRY. Can you tell??

Purchased this machine in Jan 2012. From the start, dark clothes came out with white streaks on them. Thought I was doing something wrong - kept using machine. Then started noticing my whites coming out looking very dingy, light tan stains on them. Called Whirlpool and was told to use Affresh tablets to CLEAN my washer - why should you have to clean a washing machine?

Several weeks ago noticed machine getting very loud during spin cycles - and I mean loud! Sounds like a jet engine taking off in my basement. Called repairman - he listened to my machine and said noise is the bearings, seal not fitting properly around bearings and the grease for bearings is slowly leaking out into my wash cycles. Explains the dingy whites and spots on darks. Said he just worked on a Cabrio with same issue - had to rebuild seal and bearings - about a $450 job.

After reading all these reviews, decided not to attempt to fix this machine. Going to scrap it and start over. $900 for 3 yrs of an inadequate washing machine!! Whirlpool should be made accountable for this inadequate product to all of us consumers who threw away hard-earned money. Reading up on the Speed Queen agitator model. Lots of good reviews. Think I will go back to the old tried and true way of washing clothes.

I wish I could go back and do over.

I would have gladly paid more for what I had wanted instead of saving (supposedly) a little money. I personally think they were trying to get rid of these models because they are awful and I have had so many problems doing a job I already don't but this set makes it worse. The washer is constantly off balance I think because you have to be so strict in how you lay in the laundry to the washer! Now the dryer takes even longer to dry my clothes than my twenty year old set (Maytag) which wasn't that bad. Is there any kind of trade-in I could do model: WTW4900B to get the set I really wanted (the models with glass top on washer and glass door on dryer)? I purchased this in April 19 of 2014. Started researching online about a week ago because my dryer was making an awful noise. Found out that the new idler pulley system the company used in my Whirlpool cabrio washer & dryer model (WED5500XW0) was so ineffective that they have since started replacing it with the old part #691366 they used to use. Also I am having a problem with my washer not spinning all of the water out of the clothes. Found out that this is a common problem with this model (WTW5500XW0).

Had a certified repairman out to replace the dryer idler pulley system. He also calibrated the washer to see if that may help (it did not). The repairman said that some of the Whirlpool washers had been recalled and he had actually replaced some control panels and that seemed to work. He suggested that I contact Whirlpool. So I contacted Whirlpool, thinking that they obviously knew that there have been many problems with these machines (idler pulley part being discontinued & and recall on SOME models), and thought they would be more than willing to rectify this problem.

Well think again! The two young ladies that I spoke with sounded like robots, "Unfortunately, you are not within your 1 year manufacturer's warranty so there would be nothing we could do at this time." Although I must tell you, the second young lady I spoke with did offer to sell me a new washer at a deep discounted price of $386 (which is only $86 more than fixing the washer). I think everyone who has a problem should contact Whirlpool and express this dissatisfaction. And if you are shopping for a washer and dryer, stay away from Whirlpool because their customer service is disheartening.

He was not aware of any changes but did advise that the part had a new number which he indicated probably meant a design change. I ordered a new lid just under $250. My Cabrio washing machine is a hunk of scrap metal after five years of lite use. Replaced the electronics first, then a year or so later replaced the motor. Now it's leaking from the bottom. Repair man said it is not fixable. I did not buy a warranty because it was too expensive compared to the value of the washing machine. My recommendation to anyone buying a Whirlpool appliance is to buy the cheapest thing on the market, so that you can throw it away when it breaks because they are made to break so that they can sell you extended warranties.

My family purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine approximately 4 years ago. The first two years were fine. I had no issues out of the machine at all. The last two years (just as my warranty expired) have been terrible. It was serviced twice just before the warranty was up and my husband has serviced it twice since. On two separate occasions, the bearings have worn-out and the bottom seal leaks water all over my floors. I would never recommend one of these machines to anyone!

We have put hundreds of dollars in service calls and parts on these items. I bought them because they were supposed to be good choices. NO way! I have replaced motherboard in washer, belt and sensor in dryer, the washer has had mold in it since week one. I've tried to clean it but just keep coming back. All my clothes smell like mold and I already have lung problems! Can't afford to buy new right now. But last month my dryer started making terrible banging noise and so repairman says I need another part! I bought the part more money! Just to have it quit again! Now the barrel split! I don't think I should have to pay the money I did for this set and surely shouldn't of had to replace so many things that went wrong or put up with the sewer smell from the washer!

What is the 'brilliant' idea of a 'mode' dial on a washing machine that needs to be pushed in or pulled out to engage its function??? In other words, why is there a 'free-spin' mode of THE DIAL itself? Okay. IN OTHER WORDS, why not just let the 'handle' part of the dial stay affixed to the red line mark, so that they continuously turn together at ALL times???

Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine: The washer was purchased in March of 2012 and malfunctioned in December 2014. After phoning Whirlpool, the machine was scheduled for repair with a factory-authorized company. The first repair attempt was unsuccessful due to a lack of parts. It took 10 days for the parts to arrive, and another unsuccessful repair attempt was made. The verdict is that a new motor control board, costing $350 plus labor, is necessary. With the delay in service and cost of repairs, I may as well buy a new machine.

We bought a new Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum washer and dryer in July of 2014. We were continually finding wet areas in our clothes after they were supposed to be dry. We finally called Lowes where we purchased the set. We had bought Whirlpool appliances about 10 years ago and were pleased with the product as we never had any problems.

Lowes sent a service technician on September 12th who checked out the dryer and told us there was nothing wrong with the dryer, but the vent was unsatisfactory (he was from A&E Appliance Repair). He said there was nothing he could do and charged us around $148 for the 14 minutes he was here. We checked out the vent and found it to be working satisfactorily, but we continued finding wet areas on the clothes that were supposed to be dry.

We continued to call Lowes and finally spoke to Amy at their Headquarters Customer Care Dept. with no positive results. We then called Whirlpool, and they sent someone who replaced the steam dryer valve which he said was leaking in November (it took another month to get this part). It is now January of 2015, and we are still experiencing wet spots on our clothes even worse than before!

This machine does not clean the clothes well, keeps an odor even after using Clorox (probably due to water inside that never leaves), and does not spin the clothes well. Every washing is longer than traditional washers and then I must use the spin-only cycle twice (adding another 30 minutes). I must also shake the inside of the tub to get the spin to work at all. The tech came out and re-calibrated, but to no advantage. Terrible machine and should be, as one viewer said, "under recall," in my opinion. NOT WORTH THE MONEY -- and I am very disappointed in Whirlpool.

I was terribly injured by a Cabrio Washing Machine - On December 20th, 2012, I was doing the white wash for my wife, because she can't handle the smell of bleach. It was about 4 a.m., I couldn't sleep, so I went in the garage, in my underwear, and was folding up the clothes. I was cold, and as I grabbed a T-shirt from the dryer, I thought how nice and warm it was, and put it on. Suddenly, I felt a pain in my mouth. I had no idea what had happened, but I was bleeding profusely. A piece of the washer's tub had broken off, and had been lodged inside the T Shirt, which then stuck me deeply in the top of my mouth. The piece was a jagged, very light, piece of white fiberglass-like material, sharp on both ends and shaped like a dagger. To this day, it still has not healed, and has a thing clot, that rips open any time I eat a sub sandwich, chips, or any hard food. I went to the dentist the next day, and was told the incisive papilla, an area in the mouth where virtually all the veins in your head meet. I have ruined many shirts since this has happened, because the blood just pours from that area profusely now. Anyway, though the machine was about a year old, I told Whirlpool they should remove this unsafe product from my home, and give us another washing machine.

Their representative, LORNA 866-640-7146 ext **, insulted us by offering us $50 towards another machine, though we had paid almost $600 for it. I emailed their claim forms to **, who told me she had never seen or heard of this machine coming apart like it did. When the repairman came, he said he has personally seen this 3 or 4 times on this machine. They are not behaving in an honorable manner with me about this, even having their repairman try to take away the evidence, and when I wouldn't let him remove it, he was told to not repair it. A while ago, a new washer would have resolved it a long time ago, now seeing that this will be a life-long problem, they need to do a lot more for me. You can't sleep at night when this is going on, as you will literally drown from all the blood that flows down your throat.

We bought a house almost 10 years ago and it included a Maytag washer and dryer. About 5 years ago, we decided to buy the Whirlpool front loaders. What a mistake as the washer shook every time it ran. After several warranty service calls and days of vacation waiting for the service, they finally said they couldn't do anything. During that time I had been in contact with Whirlpool and asked for them to take them back. Of course they wouldn't. I asked for a swap for top load washer and they would need to also replace the dryer to match: still no deal. It took a letter from a lawyer to make it happen. They also bought back the washer and dryer stands which covered the lawyer's costs.

So shortly after I received the Cabrio washer and matching dryer, the lid is very heavy which I believe the lid spring broke. I refused to call the service company as I did not want to go thru that crap again. I also know I can fix it myself easier and without all the drama. I keep waiting for another failure but so far all is acceptable.

Whirlpool is not the same company as they were when I made my living doing warranty service for Whirlpool! 30 years ago they were the best in the industry.

The Maytag pair was giving to our relative and they are still working flawlessly. Unfortunately Whirlpool now owns Maytag. This experience has cost Whirlpool replacing our kitchen appliances. As much as I want to buy American, I will go with Bosch or LG only.

Washer MOD WTW4800XQ2 - I purchased this washer about 2 years ago after my 15 year old washer died. I have always used Whirlpool appliances as well as my Mother that recommended Whirlpool to me some 40 years ago. I knew when this machine was delivered and set up that I was in for change. It locks down to where you can't get in it for too long of a period of time. I am a really busy person, and HATE this, but if that were the only issue, I could accept that. We live on a farm and our clothes get really soiled especially in the warmer months. I like to pre-soak white clothes, NOT happening with this machine!!! It ends the cycle after about 30 minutes so I have to start over, wasting water. But the main issue is the machine tries to level the clothes, or whatever it is doing on its own before filling with water. I wash a lot of clothes!!! I am going to say that 90% of the loads of clothes that I have washed with this machine have been off balance, banging around bad. I then have to wait for it to unlock so that I can pull out the dripping wet clothes and replace to try and get it balanced. I am 59 years old, I got married at 14. So I've been washing clothes for a LONG time...

This machine is junk to say the least. I recently house sat for family. They purchased a new GE washer and dryer a little bit before I got these, wonderful machines!!! I washed dog beds, sheets, blankets and tons of clothes during this time. WOW, I had forgot that washing clothes didn't have to be torture. I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product. This washer has exhausted me. I purchased it at Lowe's on tunnel rd in Asheville, NC. Please, if you haven't already, junk this design... It's gonna lose your loyal customers. This complaint has nothing to do with where I purchased it. I did not contact the store as they did not design the machine. I did NOT want to pay for service on a poorly designed product...

We bought a Cabrio washer four years ago for over 1,000 dollars. It lasted two years. The cost to repair was too high. We bought a low-end simple machine two years ago from Whirlpool. Now we are told it needs a new control panel, which again is going to make it not worth fixing. Two machines in four years. I called their customer service and there was nothing they could for me. The person they recommended to fix it told me it wasn't worth fixing and didn't even come out. I am done with Whirlpool.

Don't buy this machine!!!!! It is only 2 years old and the bearings went $1200 bill. I called Whirlpool, they will cover 1/3 parts needed to fix the problem, which leaves me still with a bill of over $500... which is almost the cost of the machine initially... which again is only 2 years old! Customer service was horrible and not accommodating at all - also, the Canadian help line is in America?! Never again will I purchase Whirlpool product of any sort, and strongly recommend to anyone reading this NOT to purchase either!

We have a wtw5500xw2 washing machine we bought 03/2012. We can no longer use it. The machine would not spin or agitate so the clothes do not get clean or get the water out and after the cycle is done we have to wring them out after to be able to take them to the laundromat. So two repair companies and 3 months later we find out that it is the wiring harness that is the culprit. After a new motor and a shift actuator, we contacted Whirlpool only to be advised that the washing machine is out of warranty and that we are out of luck. If the company has a known issue about these wiring harness they should be looking into it and changing suppliers or offering to replace the wiring harness at a discount to its customers. I will not be buying a Whirlpool appliance ever again. I would recommend going with a Kenmore. I have had a Kenmore dryer that I got 19 yrs ago that we got used and only had to replace the heating element.

Who cares where it's "assembled" if the parts are made from sub standard lightweight plastics or inferior metals just so they cut costs. Now my water doesn't drain and it's rusting just under the lid. Cheap junk. NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL!!!!

On 11-29-2014 we were washing our laundry and our whirlpool washing machine started making a really loud noise so I went to investigate the problem. I open the bottom part of the washer to find out that the whole cement block to balance the drum was on the floor of the washer so I called the 1800 number on the machine and no one at whirlpool corporation wanted to even help. No one said sorry. No one said "Let me see if I can help". No one. Every one I talked to they cant help at all. No one apologized once about the poor product that whirlpool sells and the defect that their products has. My washer is one year and one month old. So I can say truly with confidence that whirlpool product are the worst in the world plus their customer service even more. It is very sad after we paid all kind of money for our washer now I have to buy another one after one year and one month. Very bad customer service.

Off balance, won't wash correctly. Familiar stories online. Wasted money on a washer that is not very old. Won't buy another one ever again.
