We bought a new washer and dryer back in August. We have always bought Whirlpool. Whirlpool (or the government) now is trying to save the planet by regulating the water level in your washer. The water levels are so low your fabric softener & soap leave lines on dark clothes. IT SUCKS! It does not clean like our old washer. Very dissatisfied and would love to return it and get a washer where you can regulate your own water level. It's unbelievable that a manufacturer can make decisions for the consumer like this AND sell this feature which you PAY MORE FOR. TAKE IT BACK! I'll never recommend this product to anyone.

We used our previous Whirlpool washing machine for over 20 years with no major problems. That's why we bought another Whirlpool. This one was purchased in Nov 2011, & the repairman told us today the motor is damaged & not worth replacing. I had been noticing for some time that on some loads the spin cycle didn't work well & left the clothes very damp on taking them out. The wash cycles have been difficult to set & get the cycle to finish properly. Today the washer filled up with water, then would not go into the wash cycle. After the repairman left, my husband called Whirlpool & they don't care that a 2 year old washing machine's motor is shot. It is just me & my husband using the washer, so we have not abused it & it has not had heavy use. This is no way for Whirlpool to get repeat customers - won’t buy another.

Four years old and only used by a 2 family home. No kids overloading it. Probably wash 3 loads a week on average. After 4 years, it has started the grease flying out of the bottom and now leaking water. My appliance repair man told me to scrap it and buy a new one. The repair and the parts are too expensive and in the end it is still junk. I realize things won't last 30 years like they used to but can I get 7 years out of a major appliance?

I purchased this washer brand new just 2 years ago. It started making loud crackling noises approximately 3 mos ago. Yesterday it decided it did not want to spin or drain. Today a repairmen tells me "its a wash." The computer screen has gone wacky and the cost to replace that will be well over $400, almost to the penny what I spent 2 years ago. This is not a good product Whirlpool and i trusted you since my previous washer lasted over 15 years. I need a refund and a new washer! Disgusted!

I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio model # wtw5500xw2 about two 1/2 years ago. Besides my clothes not clean, I haven't have any problems with it until recently. Usually it doesn't spin. The clothes are left soak and wet. First the belt broke, then the lid lock, then the nut came off the pulley, then the splutch assembly. There was a few more problems in there. Now who knows what is wrong with it? It is one problem after another. It is a money trap. The CEO was just after money. There needs to be one big lawsuit against Whirlpool. After I find out what is wrong with it and the cost to fix it, I probably will just go buy a new washer/dryer set. And it will NOT be a Whirlpool.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Model WTW6400SW2 Serial CU0272414: I replaced my wonderful 25+ year old Kenmore washer with the Cabrio, 4 years ago. Within the first year I had to have a computer board replaced that was covered under the warranty. This last 6 months I replaced the suspension rods, was constantly showing that the load was unbalanced. Also have a LD error, long drain, probably because a sensor is bad. Today, restarted a load several times and could never complete the entire cycle. I resorted to unplugging, and starting a "drain spin" cycle and the washer just flooded my house. So I'm done with this unit. Waiting for a class action suit. Let's get started. What type of unit should I buy now. I guess I'm going to subscribe to Consumer Report before I buy another. Laundromat for me in the meantime.

I am very sorry I bought this machine. CU rated it pretty good. Nope. 1 - It rarely dries everything completely. e.g., the collars of t-shirts or turtleneck shirts are damp after the load is "finished." I have to run the machine again....Energy efficient? Energy schmefficient. and I haven't even TRIED to use the low heat delicate cycle. 2 - The cute modern buttons are hard to push in. 3 - The top of the machine doesn't have a level lid... It's curved. Not very useful for setting anything on while you work at any part of your laundering process.

We purchased the Cabrio washer and dryer due to the company's past reputation and our own past experience with Whirlpool appliances fully expecting to receive great performance and durability. We have had the pair just about 2 years and the washer started experiencing problems during the spin cycle. The unit would get out of balance easily and then it would stop without spinning, leaving the clothes very wet. Well, as our past experience had indicated to us the washer is usually much more reliable than the dryer, or that's the way it had been for us. So we only purchased the extended warranty on the dryer. Not being covered on the washer we located a local technician and he promptly diagnosed the problem as the transmission failed causing the noisy bearing and the failure of the unit to spin properly.

Our tech quickly repaired the unit but this failure disappointed me to the point of contacting Whirlpool. That's where I came upon this site and saw the multitude of complainers with the same type of problems and some that are worse than ours. Our purpose in this review is to add to the 1100 or more reviews that report the same kind of issues. We are now in the same mindset as the 1100. Will we ever buy another Whirlpool? Probably not, especially since it doesn't look like Whirlpool wants to stand with their customers to make it right. Customer support is just as important to us as the reliability we seek. I would much rather spend a bit more in the price than replace or repair the unit after the purchase.

A little economics lesson for our friends at Whirlpool is that if you abandon your 1100 customers you will save about $440,000.00, but those 1100 will tell everyone they know of their problems with that product and as a result many thousands will never purchase a Whirlpool. So if we all influence 5 of our friends not to buy, then 1100 X 5 = 5500 people X an average price of $800 which equals about 4.4 million dollars of lost sales. Seems like a no brainer to want to stand behind your customers. We don't believe that any washing machine on the market should fail after a few months to 2 years. These products should be built to last many years and the maker of these products should have that goal.

We bought a Whirlpool Washing machine a couple of years ago. We have been having problems. It does not get the clothes clean and laundry has an odor to it. We bought it at HHGreg by the Dayton mall in Centerville, Ohio and also bought the extended warranty. It was the largest capacity machine they had in Whirlpool so I don't need to mention what we spent for this thing. We have had a service tech out 3 times. The first time he replaced a part. It still didn't fix it. So they were out two other times saying nothing was wrong with it. Not only is it not getting the clothes clean, but is putting lint pieces all over the laundry. The warranty place already said if they come out again and they cannot find out what is wrong, then we would have to pay for the service call.

We then went to the store we bought the machine and talked to the manager. We got no help from him. All he did was throw us back to the warranty place. Not to mention, the family is having itching problems with their skin because the clothes are not only not getting clean but the soap is not rinsing out. In other words, we are suppose to eat this expense and move on. This is a new machine!!!!! And all it is worth is taking it to a metal place to scrap out!!!!! We will never buy another Whirlpool product again. It is really **. They don’t back their products up and do the consumer right. There are a lot of complaints online about the same identical thing I am writing about. They should reimburse the people the money that they wasted. Thank you.

Sensor?? Hopefully not the computer panel as that will be too expensive to repair.

We bought this washer from Sears with big hope. Within the first year, we had 14 service call covered by the warranty but required 2 to 3 weeks in doing without. Whirlpool replaced the washer at no charge but continued to have various issues over the years. The new one is the control module that Whirlpool knew was faulty but did not let their customers know. The control module went over the weekend but I repaired it myself and do not have any more issues. I literally went in and tightened all of the hardware, removed and install the pulleys, motors pumps and replaced a lot of keep components with better quality. Guess that year the CEO made only 20 million rather than 19 million. Being an American company I was disappointed by the consumer relations people but everything is a throw away nowadays. Will not buy a Maytag or Whirlpool product again. Where has American product pride gone?

We bought the Cabrio based on Claims of conservation savings. The unit would not clean our clothes if they were very dirty. We had to often make small loads just to clean them. To make a smaller load, we had to put all of the total load in the machine to allow it to add water. Then we had to remove part of the load and allow the load to wash. The unit was extremely noisy during the spin cycle and even if we set it on low spin, our clothes would be very wrinkled. Now, after only 1 1/2 years, the bearing in the motor is out. We are going to buy a new machine.... NOT a Whirlpool.

We have a Whirlpool Cabrio mod. WTW5600 XW2, ser. C12830447 he... H2O.. low wash system. Less than two years old. It does not get clothes or towels clean. I put 2 jackets in on "bulky items" and part of one of the jackets was still dry. They were two small children's jackets. My husband and I wash as long as possible and on hot wash (which is not hot!). Should not take 70+ minutes to try & get normal clothes clean!

Now the softener is draining into the wash with the detergent. Another service call. Learned you can only fill the softened bin half full or less. WHAT??? Our extended warranty is up soon and not sure what to do. We would like to get rid of this pile of junk but can't afford another washer bill. Also wouldn't want anyone else to get stuck with it. It's a shame a company can't put out #1 good product and #2 stand behind it. Bring all of the company production back to the USA or put out a better product and stop worshiping the almighty dollar.

I'm done with Whirlpool (which was the product to buy), but stuck with this washer for now until we are sure that the brand we buy performs as it should. What happened to the PRIDE in & RESPONSIBILITY of making a good product and standing by what you've made. As my hubby has said, if you have to buy an extended warranty, what's wrong with your product! Again worshiping the almighty dollar or is it you just don't care about the people who buy your product or its quality. Maybe both.

Then I noticed that it randomly drained the clothes but didn't spin them, it did it on different cycles, and I would have to run the load again on spin and drain, another 19 minutes of run time. After a week it began to make metal scrapping sounds on the spin cycle and vibrated to the point that it moved the pictures on my walls. I called Whirlpool customer service and they authorized a service call. In short, the service man was very confrontational told me there was nothing wrong and charged me $72. We purchased both the Cabrio Whirlpool washer and dryer approx. 3 years ago, while still under the manufacturers warranty the lid cracked upper right corner. It was replaced and we were told by the repairman at that time this is becoming "a common problem" that he himself has seen this exact failure to several of these washers. "Whirlpool needs to fix the problem". Shortly after this happened we receive in the mail the information for the extended warranty. Due to having this already happen, I phoned the extended warranty department for Whirlpool and specifically asked if this same thing happens again will it be covered under the extended warranty. My answer "Yes".Well it happened again, called extended warranty provided them with a detailed description of what happened, they would send someone to replace, the service gentleman arrived today, called Whirlpool and they denied the claim. So they LIED.

I instill honesty in my children and am proud to say I hold honesty as a high value. We were told it was cosmetic, the glass is buckled and the lid has to be held down to engage the lock mechanism of the lid. COSMETIC, this is a SAFETY concern. Where have our American values gone... Whirlpool used to have them back in the day... Shame on you Whirlpool.

I purchased an HIE washer one year ago this month. I have never been happy with the cleanliness of the clothes when they came out of the wash. The only way to get them moderately clean is to wash a few items at a time and even then the whites, especially socks, seem dingy. I noticed the new Whirlpool washers now have an extra setting to add more water to the machine, so the executives have realized there is a problem with the original model.

I think Whirlpool should give all customers who previously purchased the models without this feature a trade-in option to get the newer model that fills with more water or for another model with the full spindle that has worked well for so many years. I have been very unhappy with the performance of this washer and would only hope the executives would do something to resolve this problem and satisfy previous customers.

I join the many who have posted about the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer cracked lid issue. Our Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7800XW2 glass-lid washer suffered the same (inevitable) fate – cracked plastic on the lid at the hinge stress points, after the washer was beyond warranty. Same story - runaround/no help from Whirlpool. Finally bit the bullet and shelled out the $200 for a new lid. HOWEVER, I didn't want to just replace it and have the same issue down the road.

I removed the spring-loaded units that support the hinges, hoping to just remove the springs to release the pressure. I found that the springs are integral to holding all the components together in this unit. These are extremely heavy-duty extension springs, so I took them to my hardware store (TrueValue) and found springs the exact same length, but with a smaller wire diameter and thus requiring less force to extend. I replaced the original springs with these (Century Spring Corp. - #C-143 - 9/16”x3”x.054”). The lid operates perfectly, and now there is very little resistance at the hinge stress point. The only difference is there is no longer a “damping” effect when lowering the lid - it must be lowered manually rather than being allowed to fall on its own. That’s a small correction in habit, but will ensure that the replacement lid lasts for the life of the washer.

In following up to my post on Dec. 4, 2013. No surprises, I didn't receive any calls back from Whirlpool. So come Monday of week 8, I called again. It took some time to bring the rep up to speed with the situation. Part order still remains with unknown status - and nor did I get any explanation as to why I had been lead on for 8 weeks when they have no idea if the part can be available. Anyway, I was put on hold for sometime while the rep went to the supervisor, after which they came back with the following: "Sorry, we can't help you." I asked if the service technician can call me back to explore any other solutions and was reassured that they will. Again, no surprises. Didn't receive any calls after that.

I searched online and identified the manufacturer of the part... turned out to be a company in Italy. I contacted them and they replied in a couple of days via email that they do not source these parts to the public as they only provide the hardware - the assumption there is that Whirlpool then creates the functioning part by incorporating their firmware... makes sense. So another dead end. There's a happy ending to this case... I took matters into my hands. I searched for the model number online and identified a vendor, but they were in a different country. I was able to get it after a good deal of wait, shipping costs, etc. Installed it and.... yes it worked! At last laundry room is functional again.

It's an unfortunate experience to have LIVED through such low quality of service from both Whirlpool and the local subcontracted service company. I say lived because we had to figure out how to do laundry for 12 weeks outside our home on the hopes that the manufacturer would come through for us. It is with good hope that recording these experiences and sharing them can help these companies be more accountable to their customers - but in the meantime I still came out in the plus, $ wise, as it would've cost twice as much to buy a new (not matching the dryer) but basic washer. Could've done without the aggravation if customer service was more forthcoming. Good luck - but know when to quit.

I have owned a Whirlpool Cabrio model no. WTW7800XW2 washing machine for less than 3 years. The plastic frame for the top glass lid cracked (on the right next to the spring loaded hinge). After reading that other people have had a similar problem, I contacted Whirlpool about this and talked to its TN call center representative. I requested that Whirlpool repair the appliance free of charge since there is a known defect with it. She said Whirlpool would only offer me a 50% price reduction from the retail cost of the lid plus charge me shipping and taxes. I will not be buying another Whirlpool product as a result.

I had to pay $75 for American Home Shield to diagnose this and now I am waiting for them to order the replacement part - the part is around $190 from Sears or 245 from Partselect.com. What a pain. PLUS, the machine is so noisy and starts to vibrate loudly toward the end of the cycle.

Whirlpool Corp. stands behind its products. Bought the Cabrio Washer in June 2011. Lid cracked in October 2012 and was not covered under the Lowe's extended warranty because they called it a "wear item." However, our local Lowe's store in Avondale, PA replaced it for us. In December 2013, the lid cracked again. I called Whirlpool customer service and they couldn't do anything. I called the Whirlpool corporate headquarters and was directed to a member of their executive staff. After explaining my situation, Whirlpool agreed to send me a new door free of charge and even pay to have it installed (which I told them I can do myself). Aside from the cracking of two doors, this washer is an exceptional unit. It's good to see Whirlpool stands behind its products this way, outside of the warranty period. I would guess that they always hear a lot of whining and complaining, but it seems if you explain things logically, people listen and are willing to help.

We purchased a Duet from Lowe's just a few months ago. Within 2 weeks we had an inoperable machine. After 2 phone calls a service technician came out and looked it over. He had to come back a total of three times to replace the motherboard. That worked for about six weeks and it died again. He came out again and replaced the motherboard again. Fast forward two months and the machine is once again inoperable. When plugged in, it makes an ominous growling sound but nothing else happens. The idiot who designed this thing has no common sense. It's programmed so that it will LOCK on any failure. Not only has every one of these episodes left us with a load of clothes in there getting moldy, you can't even get to the model number or serial numbers; both of which are only visible inside the rim of the machine.

So adding insult to injury, your machine is broken, your clothes are in there getting ruined, and YOU CAN'T EVEN GET TO THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO SET UP THE SERVICE CALL. If it had only happened once, I'd laugh, but this is the third time and it's not funny. We bought this machine because it said "proudly made in USA". Next time, I'll support the Korean economy and buy a reliable, durable Samsung. The only positive I can offer is that the Whirlpool "live chat" person was able to set up the service call for me even though I can't get to the relevant data inside the machine. DON'T BUY A WHIRLPOOL WASHER. Despite their legacy and US-feel-good associations, the sad truth is that they are poorly engineered and poorly manufactured.

Whirlpool Washing Machine Model WTW4950XW0 - This washing machine was purchased as a gift by my father. We have owned this machine for about 2 years. I am very disappointed with the quality of this machine. I have 3 children and several pets. I use my machine a lot and need a quality item that will last. This machine is not that item. Within a few months, the machine was off balance and bolts had to be tightened. We have had problems with the belt, bolts coming loose and the machine not draining.

More recently, the machine has become very loud... For approximately the last 6 months. My husband has taken the machine apart and looked for anything to be wrong with it and has found nothing. Now the machine is not running. I will turn it on and it fills with water and then stops. I will clear it out and restart it and it does the same thing. Another issue has been with spinning and draining. The clothes are soaking wet even after the drain/spin cycle.

I have researched what could possibly be wrong with this machine and have found a vast number of items that could need replaced. With the money I have already put into fixing this machine in the past and the amount it will cost to fix it this time, I believe I will be further ahead if I buy a new machine made by a different company. I will not be buying a Whirlpool product again.

We relied on consumer reports as the primary source for a recommendation on this washer. Just under two years old, it started making a noise, which suddenly went away. Then one day the machine would not spin and drain, and we could not decipher the error code into anything useful. I turned the machine over to find that the drive belt was half-on/half off the pulley on the drive motor. This caused the belt to ride against the belt guard and wear right through it. I removed the belt and determined that the cause of the problem was that the large pulley on the drum was loose. For some reason the nut which holds that pulley on was slightly loose, causing the pulley to wobble. Not sure why they didn't use some Loctite on that nut. I put everything back together and tightened the nut. No problems and I checked it a month later, everything was still good.

Fast forward to last week, when the machine was not yet 3 years old. Same thing, washer would not spin and drain. Tipped machine over to find that the belt had fallen off, the drum pulley was again loose. But this time the belt had damaged the pulley on the motor. I figured, no problem, just order a new pulley. Well you can buy just the pulley on the drum, but the pulley on the motor is part of the motor, it cannot be ordered by itself. The cheapest I could find the motor online was $250. We decided to cut our losses and buy a new machine.

We will NEVER buy another Whirlpool appliance (or anyone else's by the same manufacturer, i.e. Maytag). Our last Kenmore washer lasted 23 years. Oh but it had an agitator and wasn't listed as "HE" (High Efficiency), so I suppose the environmentalists would get the dry heaves thinking about the impact of that washer on the environment. But it was useful for 23 years. Now this "High Efficiency" Whirlpool is headed for the recycling pile. Sorry, I think this hurts the environment more than an appliance which just works year after year. Yep, they took a design that worked and now we have energy/water efficient washers that don't last very long and are so expensive to repair that the solution is to just buy a new one.

Bought this because it was a Whirlpool product and liked how it was supposed to work at the store, HhGregg in Downingtown. Anyway one week in we started having problems, clothes not being washed well, and constant problems of dripping wet clothes, like they were never spun at all. Would have to readjust all the clothes, respin, most times we have to that that every time we wash clothes and have to respin more than once and even then, clothes have too much water left in them, so it takes forever to get our clothes dry. We have a service contract with Sears, we have repairmen out a few times. Get told, don't wash towels in it, only do very small loads, supposed to be a large capacity washer, nothing wrong with it. Now its worse than ever, terrible product. I want a different washer, it's rusting at the lid, it's only at the most 2 yrs old, it was expensive and am very, very frustrated!!! I want what I paid For!!! Whirlpool, shame on you for putting out such crap.

On to my next problem with a Whirlpool range, again bought it because it was a Whirlpool. We had our Kitchen remodeled and the range I had was white. We needed a stainless steel range, Bought the Gold series AquaLift convection oven. This is the most horrible piece of crap. The convection oven does not cook as a convection should, food takes forever to cook on convection, reg feature works faster and hotter than the convection. In my old range I used the convection feature always unless I was baking a cake. Then used the AquaLift feature to clean my oven, it was not dirty , but I like a sparkling oven, so followed the directions, set it to clean. It looked the same after it supposedly cleaned the oven. Nothing was cleaned, tried it again, it was a little more dirty, something had spilled.

I wiped out the oven, used the AquaLift self cleaning feature again, same results, old oven, self clean, the oven after a cleaning cycle, only ash was left, wipe it out, it was spotless. So I called for repair, the repair guy was here about 5-6 different times, tried this and that, replaced a heating element in the oven, turned the temperature up in the oven, so now when I bake, I have to figure out what temp I need to put it on. Tried that, even admitted that the AquaLift feature was a bust.

I contacted Whirlpool, I want it replaced with a different model. This range is about I and a half years old, want to replace it but again was very expensive. It's a terrible product, it can't be a coincidence, that both newer appliances made by Whirlpool are terrible!!!! Combined they cost me almost 3000.00 dollars. I feel that I have been ripped off definitely did not get the great products that I thought I was buying. No response from Whirlpool, no satisfaction. I want them both replaced or my money back, take them out of here, they are useless!!!!! I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product again, and have told everyone I know about the terrible quality of these products.

We purchased our new Whirlpool Cabrio washer on November 1, 2013. From the start this machine's performance has been a disappointment. We bought the machine at The Brick (I should have known better) where we had made several purchases over the years ( I guess I'm a slow learner). Right off the hop, my wife and I noticed that the clothes were not coming out clean. Even though the machine is "Eco" and therefore advertises that it uses less water, there should be enough water that the clothes at least get evenly wet. That may be a problem with the agitator not seeming to have the guts required to pull the clothing down to the bottom of the drum.

We went back to The Brick and told them that we were not happy with the machine they had sold us and quite predictably they told us that we should call Whirlpool (This was less than a week after we had it delivered. Did I mention that I may be a slow learner?). We called Whirlpool and they told us they would have a tech out to take a look at it on November 11th. Wow, I thought. How's that for service. A repair guy coming out on a statutory holiday. Of course it didn't happen. When we called them back to ask if their repair guy had made it home okay, they claimed that we weren't there when the repairman tried to call to confirm his arrival time at our home. We hadn't left the nest the entire day. They then told us to go back to The Brick.

We went back once again and told them, yet again, that we were not satisfied. This time they agreed to send their own man over to take a look. He came over yesterday and watched the machine go through an entire wash cycle and then said that there really wasn't anything he could do, as even though it may do a crappy job of washing the clothes, it at least appeared that mechanically speaking there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it. We called Whirlpool back today and they said that there isn't anything wrong with it mechanically so from their end, at least, the story is over. What kind of customer service is that????? Maybe Whirlpool and The Brick deserve each other, but I think we should get better treatment than that

Six weeks passed and I haven't heard back.

When I called, in week seven, the status of the part order is unknown and an investigation was to be conducted, and Whirlpool promised to get back to me. My Whirlpool front load washer has been broken now for more than 8 weeks! I have contacted Whirlpool for service and paid their supposedly "certified" technician $118 and still the washer is not repaired. They have even sent me another independent service technician to look at it. The problem seems clear and simple according to the last technician, but for some reason they are not able to resolve it; mainly because they are not able to say when the parts will arrive and they keep missing date after date. I also believe that the 1st service company "Platinum" were under qualified and wrongly diagnosed the problem which caused even more delay.

I have talked to many supervisors and finally asked one of them to start a prorated exchange for my 3 years old washer since it seems not clear on when the parts will arrive but he mentioned that I will have to wait for 2 more weeks on top of the 8 weeks without a washer to process the exchange. I asked him if he could keep the maintenance call open and see which will happen first, taking in consideration that they are not able to set a fixed date and it has been that long, but he refused and insisted it’s one or the other. It seems that I will end up buying a new washer not because mine is beyond repair but because their technicians or the parts can’t make it here to Vancouver!

Cabrio washer and dryer set - JUNK!!! My wife and I bought these about 5 years ago and paid nearly $2500 for the set. Started noticing right away that the washer would go out of level pretty frequently. Would have stop the machine and peel the clothes off the side and try again. We have always had to load the washer by circling the clothes around the outside very carefully to make sure we didn't disrupt its ridiculous leveling ability. Now almost 5 years in and the washer leaks, the lid is broken, and the unlevel problem is EVERY load. This sucks! We have to babysit the washer and constantly adjust the clothes so they can get partially spun dry so we can load them into the awesome (please notice the sarcasm) dryer. Since the clothes are still pretty wet, they will take at least 2 cycles of 1 - 2 hours to dry. I wouldn't recommend this set to my worst enemy!

After some research, I have discovered that it will cost about $600 to fix it! NO WAY! I'll take the $600 and buy a used set of a plain old washer and dryer and get at least 10 years out of them. By the way, if someone from Whirlpool is reading this, I invite you to contact me and you can come to my house and verify all my complaints to make sure I'm not making false accusations. One stipulation though - once you have verified all these problems are not due to neglect and are true complaints, you have to repair or replace them. My choice. I'm going to bet I won't hear from anyone..... We have bought many Whirlpool products and this washer and dryer have by far been the worst! Although we did have a fridge that went out in 1 year also, but that's another story. BUYER BEWARE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T BUY THE CABRIO....

I live in Florida and in December 2012, purchased a Whirlpool upright freezer from my local Badcock's. About two months after the purchase it started making this weird loud sound. I contacted Whirlpool and they sent a local appliance company technician out to check it. The technician ripped my brand new Linoleum floor when pulling out the freezer. The result was, in his opinion, nothing was wrong with it, that the loud sound was normal. As it continued, another tech came out and his opinion was it needed a new compressor. So, it was replaced and lasted about a month. I was getting something out for dinner and noticed everything in my freezer was unthawed... all that money wasted a freezer full of food gone.

So, Whirlpool once again sent the same appliance company out but a different technician. This one said it that he needed to order parts which he did, a different tech came out to install the parts and told us he didn't know what they were for and our freezer didn't need the parts the previous tech ordered. So this tech put dye in the lines and left. The dye leaked out from under my freezer all over the floor which is now stained because of the dye that leaked. This is the brand new floor they had already ripped during the first service call. So, now not only is my floor ripped but stained as well.

Once again, about a month later, I find my freezer full of meat unthawed a third time. Once again I called and find out they have dropped the contract with the company that came out the first two times. So they refer me to another local appliance repair, and this new tech says that it needs a new compressor. This will be the second new one in less than 6 months. They order that part and repair the freezer; this fix lasted for about three months this time. On my fourth call to Whirlpool, I expressed my frustration with losing my food and the hassle of an inferior product purchased brand new under warranty. I definitely was not satisfied with the service and the customer service representative could not find my warranty record. He was also very rude and when he finally found my record, he told me I was no longer under Whirlpool warranty.

This was wrong as I have my paperwork showing date of purchase AND the four-year extended warranty we purchased as well. I asked him what they would do for me since their inferior appliance and incompetent repair technicians cost me hundreds of dollars of ruined meat and other frozen food. He said they would do nothing except have another repair tech come out. Until the freezer is determined to be unrepairable that is all they can do.

So I scheduled the tech to come out the fourth time and he found that some untrained tech had put oil in the line and the lines and compressor has to be replaced and flushed. I have already not had a freezer for a week waiting for tech to come out and now the parts are put on back order for another three weeks. The fourth repair tech called Whirlpool from my home, while I was standing there, and told them that it basically is beyond repair because of the price of parts and labor. He told Whirlpool it would be cheaper to replace the freezer but Whirlpool told the tech to replace the lines and compressor and flush everything out. So three weeks later, he comes back out on 10/13/2013 to make the repairs.

I bought this freezer in December 2012 for $1200 and have been dealing with issues on and off since Feb. 2013 and now it's 11/29/13 and once again my freezer has stopped working. I have lost all my food because Whirlpool sold me a defective appliance and would not make it right. I have asked them to replace it and they wouldn't. My husband and I have just purchased our second house and we were very excited about the remodel coming up in the kitchen. We were going to purchase stainless steel Whirlpool appliances, but after this company has treated me so badly, I will not buy anything with the Whirlpool name for our stove, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator.

We probably would have spent about $3500 on appliances, but we will purchase a different brand and give our $3500 to a company that will treat me better as a customer .I used to have trust in this company because it is well known for quality products, but I don't trust them anymore. I will advise any of my loved ones and friends not to purchase any Whirlpool appliance because of the inferior quality and lack of interest in making this situation right. I tried for almost a year and gave them 5 opportunities to do the right thing and now I'm done. They don't care about the customer and that is a shame because they have lost a valued customer. As of now I have another tech coming Tuesday b/c my freezer is sitting not running again. Model #EV201NZTQ02.

My husband AND I purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from Lowe's in 2011 (Model # WTW7800XW2). About 10 months after I purchased this I noticed a hairline crack on the right side of the frame that holds the glass top near the hinge. I didn't think to much of this. I figured it may have been screwed to tight when manufactured. A few days ago I noticed the lid wasn't sitting flat and saw the crack had gotten much worse. The Cabrio lid is made with a heavy piece of glass inside a plastic frame allowing you to see through the top. It's pretty obvious that the plastic frame is not durable enough to hold the heavy piece of glass.

I called Lowe's and they told me that because I didn't purchase their extended warranty that I should contact Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and was told it was a "cosmetic defect" because the washer still works. They also told me my washer is outside of its warranty so they would schedule someone to fix it but I was 100% responsible for the repair costs (which I found out will be $400). Out of curiosity I googled this issue online and found numerous people complaining about this exact same issue. When I told this to the customer service agent at Whirlpool, she said there weren't enough people to recall the product. Why should I spend $400 when it was a design flaw that caused this problem? I found out the year after my washer was made, the lid was redesigned with a much sturdier frame, Coincidence? I think not!

I haven't had any problems thus far with the dryer but with the experience I've had with this washer will make me never by another Whirlpool product again. I can't believe they won't stand by their product! Obviously they know this has been a major complaint on this model from 2011 because it was changed the following year. I have purchased many Whirlpool appliances over the years but dealing with this issues has been frustrating. I'm so disappointed in Whirlpool and their lack of integrity!

It has been getting worse and after doing some research, I found out that the main bearings on the tub require replacement. I could do the repair myself, but the parts are around $75 and you also need a special tool that will cost another $100. If a repairman does the work, I'm looking at over $600. Either way, I'm screwed. I called the Whirlpool service center, talked to a supervisor there and they told me there are no recalls with this make and model and that they could not do anything to assist. Basically, screw you. I am really pissed off about them not standing behind their product. I will not be suckered into having this POS serviced so I need to throw it away and buy another non-Whirlpool product. At times I feel it is going to shake my home off its foundation. No kidding. I keep the lid open when not in use to keep if from developing the foul odors on to the dryer. So much for "wrinkle free". The clothes are never completely dry. Typically, it requires two cycles. If you want to save a couple thousand dollars, do not buy these products. I asked why this wasn't a recall as all over the web, people had this same problem. I pushed and pushed and she put me on hold. Came back to say it was in fact covered. What? Really? What changed your mind? She wasn't allowed to tell me. Supposedly had something to do with the "date of manufacture". So okay, they send the repair guy out, it's fixed.

The machine ate the edges off my good towels, T-shirts, jeans. Brand new underwear (thick elastic) was stretched all the way out and pulled. Normal stains and dirt do not come out even with pretreating. I started running my clothes on the delicate cycle, prewashing stains in a bucket by hand and then putting clothes in mesh bag before running the load. They still came out dirty and ruined. Purchased this washer in 2009 from Lowe's, believing the hype that it was efficient. Since we only needed a Washer at the time, we overpaid (it is more cost effective when you buy both washer and dryer). So we paid $1000.00 for this machine (we purchased the stand as well). After the 1st year, there seemed to be a significant decrease in how fast the washer spun, as the clothes were coming out wetter. I didn't pay much attention, but 2 years later, the machine has a weird problem where it couldn't complete the cycle, and by this time, every time it "Spun", the noise was louder and louder.

I contact Whirlpool, placed a service call and the Technician came out. $225.00 later, there was a hose that was pinched that was sending a wrong signal to the washer. He fixed that and told me I should get a contract on the machine through Whirlpool since I seemed to be having problems. I purchased the contract, for $300.00, and 2 1/2 weeks later placed another service call, as the noise from the machine was happening every time I did laundry. The service guy came out, indicated that it seemed to be the Agitator, and that he would need to order parts, and that they had a "SPECIALIST" who only does this type of repair, since they have many! He also indicated that the hose may have crimped due to the movement of the entire agitator!

Well, after not hearing from ANYONE for 2 weeks, I called the repair company who told me WHIRLPOOL was supposed to call and let me know that they would NOT fix the machine, as the parts cost more than the Washer, which is now valued at $500.00! Unfortunately, I can not rate this machine LESS than one star. I would rate it ZERO. We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine model WTW7800XW0, 2 1/2 years ago in 2011. Since that time, we have had nothing but trouble from this machine. The machine basket gets off center when you have heavy items in there like jeans or a large load of towels and just stops working until you raise the lid and even out the clothing in the basket. If you wash something like a throw or a set of sheets in it, they get all twisted and wrapped around the thing in the center and end up in a big mound.

We have had the glass top lid replaced on this machine TWO times over the last 2 years because the plastic frame on the lid around the glass cracked and broke and became warped in a raised position. This caused the machine to stop working because the machine will not wash clothing unless the door is locked down, and the door can't lock if the lid is cracked and warped and broken. So you have to set something heavy on top of the lid to get the lid to lock so you can wash a load of clothing! TWO times we have had repair people out to our home to replace the lid and now the lid is cracked and broken again, for the THIRD time! This is THREE broken lids in just over 2 years. Unacceptable!!

The hinges on the lid that attach the lid to the machine are also rusted. This rusting has happened on all the lids that we have had replaced in the last 2 years. I will never, NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product again, EVER. Their products are inferior quality and JUNK. Within the first month on our machine the paddles flew off and after a bit of a debate with the insurers we had another machine (same model). Within a short period from date of purchase both machines had a number of faults - circuit boards, weights that came loose! and bearings going. There are other bits but too extensive to list. To be fair to the insurers they were no trouble (it really is the inconvenience of being without a washer and having to schedule time to get it sorted out).

I will never ever buy a Whirlpool as all of these (3 in total) have been a nightmare and ours is sounding noisy again (it only had a new drum 12 months ago for bearings - yes you need a new drum for that £200 in all!!) so I am really glad that we have the insurance. When that runs out and the machine is dead (whichever comes first) I think we will will be buying either a Beko or a Samsung that are getting really high ratings. Anyone reading this might wonder why did we buy these in the first place. Well a colleague of mine at work had one and said it was fantastic (she had children so used hers a lot) hence me buying them (and they were not cheap by any means, so thought we were getting a cracking pair of machines....cracking, yes they might as well be as a chocolate fireguard has more reliability...

WARNING DO NOT BUY A WHIRLPOOL WASHING MACHINE - IT COULD DAMAGE YOUR SANITY! AND FAITH IN HUMAN BEINGS TOO!!!!!

I'm disgusted by both Sears and Whirlpool that I have paid top dollar for my Whirlpool Duet Washer model #WFW9400SW01 (along with the matching Whirlpool duet dryer and 15" floor pedestals) at a cost of over $1,000 for the machine, and hundreds of dollars for the Sears 'master protection service' contract. And 5 weeks after first reporting my washer breakdown and lugging my family's laundry to a ‘local’ laundromat located miles away, I still have no imminent hope of seeing a repair. This is the second time the machine has broken down within 5 years. (Don't even ask me about my nightmare with LG dishwashers!) This time the wire harness is the culprit, a part which apparently has been redesigned & which has been on back order 'indefinitely' - all Sears can tell me is it might be available 'sometime in October.' "Is it coming from overseas," I ask. "No, Delaware," I've been told. And it could be as long as into November.

While they did tell me I could begin to pursue a replacement machine by the 21st day of non-use, I am so weary of the life energy this appliance nightmare is sapping from me simply to resolve this. And Sears and Whirlpool don't seem at all concerned with the massive amounts of junked appliances winding up in our collective landfill as we all tolerate this built-in obsolescence. Besides the obvious wear & tear issue on my wood floors in replacing the machine (the dryer positioned next to it on a pedestal in my cramped powder room/laundry room will also need to be reinstalled in order to get both to fit properly), what about the consummate waste of having these machines reach the end of their life expectancy after a mere 5 years?

I wish I'd never upgraded our appliances. In the 7 years since we did, our LG dishwasher has failed innumerable times and been replaced multiple times, until we finally replaced multiple versions with a Bosch (so far, so good); our Kenmore Elite range has also failed and needed repair; my washer has died twice. Shouldn't we expect better when we pay top dollar? And if not Consumer Reports, then why isn't the Attorney General's Office investigating this clear 'fleecing of the consumer', Sears policy in which sales people aggressively hound consumers like me into purchasing expensive service contracts, making all sorts of unreliable claims and 'limited time only' price quotes. And then when the consumer actually needs a repair, is treated like I'm last in a long line of unhappy customers.

Maybe if current embattled Sears CEO Edward Lampert had to face weeks of doing his own family's laundry in a laundromat while he waited for a part on backorder from Sears, he might recognize not only a lot of other people waiting on a Sears part there too. But that while on his watch, the Sears name has eroded big-time as he sacrificed quality in his relentless drive for profits.

They came out to see washer and at the time of appointment, the guy said sometimes they come from the factory not "hooked up right inside" and after he went back to a lady in the office, "Jonny's Appl Repair, Bozeman, MT" said they would not fix it because washer was not sitting on a concrete floor. They are idiots. Finally, washer completely broke 7 months later. There was no service that would honor ANY appointment Whirlpool made. Went through 6 repair companies trying to get a close appointment date. Hopefully next week will be the magic repair. GO WITH SEARS. I am a single parent. So I was very excited when I had saved enough to purchase a new washer and dryer. I purchased Whirlpool because I had been told that was a good brand. From the beginning, I was having issues with the washer (Whirlpool Front Loader model #WFW8300SW04). It wouldn't start or it would not spin, or it would just lock and not be able to get it open. I had purchased a warranty. So I called to have it serviced. The tech came and told me that I needed to have my floor leveled under the washer. I hired someone to concrete under my washer and dryer. Again the washer still did the same thing. I used the warranty again.

The second tech told me that I needed to have my electrical outlet changed. I again hired someone to change the outlet. Yet still the machine didn't work. I then hired a tech to come out and was told the "mother board" needed to be replaced. Had that done. The machine worked for a short time with no issues. But yet again it won't start, or won't spin, or it locks and you can't get it opened. I contacted Whirlpool and their answer to the problem was they would be glad to set up an appointment to send out one of their tech's (at my expense). I have hired another tech and being told that the "mother board" once again needs to be replaced. I am so disappointed with Whirlpool and their service. I don't understand why they won’t stand behind their products. I will (when able) purchase another washer, but it most definitely will NOT be Whirlpool. Anyone else having issues with the same model? Would like to hear.

In less than 2 years, it broke. Whirlpool does not offer a warranty on the unit. After having a Whirlpool repair person come out for a cost of $75.00, I was informed that the parts to replace would cost $800.00 not counting additional labor cost which was TBD. I contacted Whirlpool and went from Agent (Phylicia) to supervisor (Ashley) to Manager (Carol **). The best offer I was given was to buy the parts at a discount of $400.00 which did not include tax, delivery or labor. So it would have run approx. $550.00 to over $600.00 to fix a $771.00 washer.

My next letter is to Jeff Fettig (553 Benson Rd, Benton Harbor, MI 49022/ CIO of Whirlpool) to let him know how impressed I am with his product and customer service support. When the washer is downstairs, it gets to be a pain. The lid lock is a pain also. If you forget to put something in the machine, you hit pause button then you have to wait forever until it unlocks, and wait forever to unlock when it goes off balance. When it doesn't go off balance, it washes everything just fine. But if I knew what I know now about it, I would have never bought it....... I would recommend a different washer and check the reviews, which I didn't do. :(

I purchased a Whirlpool front loading washer from PC Richards in January of 2010. The warranty was only for one year (the washer was new, not used). The model # is WFW9050XW. Anyway, the washer had to be repaired by PC Richards twice in the first year I had it. Once because the belt that makes the washer spin broke, then because the pump got clogged. Unfortunately, when you wash your clothes, your socks and underwear can get sucked into the pump. After that warranty expired, I purchased a warranty from my utilities company (PSE&G). I have had to contact them four times for repairs to this machine. The most recent problem is my clothes are still wet after the washer stops. I actually have to wring them out by hand to get the excess water out. When I contacted my utilities company about servicing the washer, I was informed that if the repair is more than the washer is worth they don't have to fix it.

I canceled the repair and now got to the laundrymat. I figured if I wait until the end of the year, maybe the repairs won't seem excessive. I contacted Whirlpool about the problems and was informed that I should have been using a garment bag to wash my socks and underwear in. More or less the person I spoke with made it seem as though it was my fault the machine sucked up my underwear and socks. I, on the other hand, disagreed with her. I told her the washer should have been build so that it would not suck up these items. I was so totally pissed off I ended the conversation. I also informed her that I would not be purchasing any other appliances manufactured by Whirlpool or Maytag as they are affiliated. They obviously have no integrity when it comes to their product. However, I am totally baffled. Why do the Maytag machines work better and last longer than the Whirlpool machines? The washer I replaced was a Maytag. I had that machine for 17 years!!!!

It leaves lint residue all over my clothes! Some of them I just can't get off. I live in Colorado and the sun shines almost everyday! I love to hang my clothes outside to dry and get brightened by the sun. Being a mile high makes the clothes even brighter I think!

Anyways... back to washer... I have been doing laundry for 40 years. I have 4 grown children and know how to sort, etc... When I wash my darks, the lint that ends up on the shirts and pants... it's just ridiculous! I end up scraping it off for about 25 minutes before I can hang them up to dry. On some of the clothes, there are marks where all the lint was and has stayed! I've tried using less detergent, less fabric softener and always use the extra rinse. Tried setting it on the lowest spin cycle and the highest... Nothing helps. How do I tell my husband I would like to get rid of this and get an good old fashioned washer? I was a maniac for two months doing research and making a great cause to buy these machines!

It seems to be a little better if I dry the clothes in the dryer, as the lint is pulled off somewhat, but the marks remain. I could hear the pump running but with little water flow. Eventually, it would time out and give the LD error. A service tech was called and determined that the water pump was defective, although the impellers inside appeared okay and had no foreign objects to impede its spinning.

After spending $225 for the service call, the LD error resurfaced about an hour after the tech left. Tonight I got the F1 error again, and once again the washer responded to a sharp rap. The replacement control board, which the F1 error code involves, is $220 plus labor. $440+ for a repair to a $600-$700 washer? I'm going to dissect the main control board tomorrow and look for loose or corroded connections. I can't understand why the LD code occurs when I can hear the drain pump running... just very little comes out. Other times it empties like Niagara falls... I can't understand why it works sometimes and fails others. The pump is either on or off. It doesn't have multiple speeds as far as I know. I'm not sure what to do next... probably try to re-sell the new pump that was installed to recoup some of the money I paid for a non-working Cabrio. This seems to be a very common occurrence.. Also, you could open the lid when the water was running in, which washers are no longer supposed to do.

Whirlpool then arranged for A & D Service to come and "repair" my NEW washer and scheduled an appointment for a week later. I was forced to call that company to find out if they were even coming. When they did not show as promised, I cancelled the appointment and called Whirlpool to ask for another service company. They then scheduled me for two weeks later (now August 30th). The guy did come and told me there was user error - I had used too much soap as this was an HE washer. I asked him to show me where on the appliance and in the owner's manual that it stated the washer was an HE. That setting is not available in the Cabrio. I have tried catching between cycles and the drum is constantly emptied. I wish I'd read these reviews before I bought.

I have read the reviews and agree with all negative comments. There is no point in investing in a high efficiency machine when I have to rewash many dark items several times in spite of always adding the extra rinse cycle. The clothes appear cleaner if I do not add liquid fabric softener, but as I prefer to use my clothes line when possible, I am unable to use fabric softener. Also, although it is supposed to be a high capacity machine, I only fill the tub about one third of its capacity, hoping this will increase the cleanliness of your clothes. It doesn't seem to help.

I have contacted Whirlpool several times and the final suggestion was that pay for a technician's visit, approx. $100, plus extra for repairs. I have decided not to throw good money after bad and to buy another brand of washer. This is the WORST appliance I have ever owned even though it is supposedly high-end. PLEASE do not buy a Whirlpool appliance. If the Cabrio washing machine is an indication of the quality of their appliances, you will be wasting your money.

I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio Top Loading HE washing machine and dryer duo in February 2009. I carried an additional extra extended warranty for an extra 3 years. Now, at the dispenser where you add the bleach, it has rusted. The rust has gotten so bad the lid has detached from the body of the machine. I can't understand how a machine less than 4 years old could rust so badly. I called Whirlpool to complain and they suggested I get it repaired and my cost. A car that sits outside in rain, sun, snow and hail does not rust in 3 years. I bought the machines from Home Depot. The way Whirlpool has handled this, I will never buy another Whirlpool.

I agree with all the unsatisfied customers with the Whirlpool Cabrio! Clothes do not come out clean! I called Whirlpool also and was told to be sure to place my clothes around the "sides" of the tub, which I always did. If Whirlpool was smart, they would take the complaints about the Cabrio and offer the customers a small amount of money towards purchasing another Whirlpool washer. I know I would have appreciated that. Instead I'll go out and buy another washer and not a Whirlpool. Even my kids don't want this washer and it's practically new!

We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 6300 washer based off the salesman's recommendation (not very happy about this). After the warranty ran out, every time in the spin cycle, it makes a sound similar to a piece of metal banging around inside the cylinder during the cycle. Our friends have told us they had a similar experience and for their machine, they found out the bearings were going out. We've had this machine a total of 3 years. I doubt we ever buy another item from HH Gregg plus will do our investigation on Consumer Buyers digest before we toss any more money out for a washing machine.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from a local appliance center. Everything was working great. After some time, the washer began to have error codes. I would have to turn it off and restart using more detergent, more water and more electricity to attempt to get a load washed. I did purchase an extended warranty. I reported the issue to Whirlpool and I have had 7 home repair visits while still under Whirlpool's warranty. The first time, the repair tech went under the washer and "tightened a screw". REALLY! The next visit, the motherboard was changed and the issues kept coming back. Well, the Whirlpool warranty was now over so the extended warranty had to be picked up from the appliance center. Things got worse and had continued repair calls. After I had enough, I called Whirlpool and spoke to everyone under the sun. I tossed it outside and bought another brand washer. Several weeks went by and this washer still under the shed, Whirlpool contacted me and bought back my washer, GREAT.

Now, here it starts all over again with the dryer, same issues with motherboard. Only this time, I am 1 month out of Whirlpool warranty and need $385 for a new motherboard plus cost to replace. I call Whirlpool again but only this time, they show no issues with this dryer and are not budging. I toss it out and again, purchase another brand dryer. I grew more angry by the day looking at this dryer sitting useless outside. I had it hauled off as trash.

My question is how does a consumer protect themselves against these manufacturers? I do understand warranties but if it smells like a lemon, acts like a lemon, it must be a lemon!

They never came out real clean and smelled like there was still soap in the clothes. It has been less than two years and now it will not run. Turn the unit on and all it wants to do is turn on the pump to drain the tub. I'm a refrigeration technician and know how to run a diagnostic test Whirlpool has for this machine. I get an LF code which is water long fill so I checked out the water tube which is ok. So the problem is in the circuit board not sensing the water level. To replace this board is around $350 dollars and if I had someone else do the work I would be looking at over $550 dollars. I only paid around $500 dollar for the washer so it does not make any sense to put a new solid state board into this washer which cost as much as the washer. Our old GE washer lasted us for over 20 years and did a better job washing our clothes. There should be a better warranty on these machines than one year. I did not buy the extended warranty because of the cost and I expect that the product should last at least 10 years or more.

In other words, my clothes are coming out of the washer dirty. My make-up towels come out with make-up, my husband’s fishing clothes smells like fish and my son’s bike riding clothes is full of dirt. Whirlpool’s answer was the technician is reporting that the machine is working fine. Whirlpool told me to use different cycles and detergent etc. and I have done everything they ask, but my clothes are still the same. I told them this is a defected item. A washer should do its job - wash dirt and smells out. I want a different washer and they refuse to exchange this item for another washer after a second call to technician. Best Buy is telling us there nothing they can do for us.

What has America come to? The manufacturers and dealers are selling to consumers and taking advantage of them by not responding to the needs of the consumer. In other words, we the consumers pay for product, take time from work and personal time to reports these problems and we get nothing back, just the run around. Is there something we can do? What can we do? This is very frustrating. We work for what we need. We pay for what we need and we don't get what we need. On the other hand, the manufacturer and dealer get what they need, our hard working money. What can we, the consumer, do to get our hard working money worth????? Not even 3 years ago I purchased the very large capacity (5.0 I believe) Cabrio Whirlpool Washer and Dryer top loader set for my family. I have regretted the purchase since the first week. The washer would CONSTANTLY beep during a wash cycle, stopping the process saying it was unlevel. We made every attempt to make sure the load was even all around the basin and that the machine itself was level itself. No matter what we did, it would need to be restarted numerous times during one wash cycle taking sometimes hours to do one load. VERY FRUSTRATING. Now the washer will turn on, but it will not fill with water or start the cycle at all.

The dryer has cost us hundreds of dollars in repairs, bringing the repair man to our house on a weekly basis for a while. Every time needing a new part. I have made a complaint on the Whirlpool USA Facebook page letting them know my absolute frustration as a substantial amount of other people have, and every one of the other complaints receives a comment back but mine. Although their complaint got a generic response such as, "I'm so sorry for your frustration, please email to the address below and we can look into your issue."

I called customer service a few times to see if they could help in anyway...even asked if they could supply the parts if I paid for labor, and the answer was a flat NO. Nothing...I paid just about $2500 for this set and about $400 in repairs, and no help and no apology for selling me appliances that have not lasted even a small percentage of my last set that lasted throughout my teenage years into my 30’s. I am severely disappointed and ready to take action more now for the disrespect I feel as a consumer.

I do not recommend Whirlpool Appliances AT ALL any longer...as they used to be a household item in every family member’s home. Now my large number of family and friends all know my frustration and will not purchase Whirlpool. I suggest this company do something to redeem themselves, because this is just ridiculous. Many of our shirts and underwear are ruined because the washer tears holes in clothes. Then of course there are the wrinkles that never iron out! Please see attached the pictures of our washer that was purchased without a top counter balance from HH Gregg in May of 2010. We were told by the extended warranty technician when he came to diagnose the machine on 6/24/13 that the bearing and basket were bad. He ordered the parts and returned on 7/2 to repair the machine. Upon taking it apart, he discovered the top counter balance was missing and was the reason that the bearing and other parts had failed.

I will include pictures of the plastic that the counter balance should have been attached to. You can see there are no screw holes or scuffs on the plastic. It was suggested by one of the customer service agents, Kitty in TN, that we remove the counter balance. Per Kitty, "Because had it come from the factory like that, it would have walked all over the laundry room and not worked right since the first day." Honestly, we have scuffs all over our walls and my husband just thought the legs needed adjusted or it wasn't sitting properly on the pedestal. We have never owned a front load washer, so we didn't know what to expect. The washer sits in a very tight space under the cabinets, but will walk in the middle of the floor especially before we installed the pedestal.

The top counter balance was ordered on 7/2 and we were told it would arrive and be installed today. The technician called me at 10:55AM today and stated the package had not arrived. We are asking Whirlpool for a replacement washer as the one we purchased brand new came from the factory defective. We have been told a solid NO. Upon further inspection of the machine while taking pictures, I noticed that the bottom counter balance is cracked clear through as well. I'm attaching pictures of that. I did speak with Laticia in MI. She was VERY nice and more empathetic than the other 6 or so people we have spoken with at Whirlpool customer service. She was professional, helpful and I hope who Whirlpool would want representing their company and brand.

We feel Whirlpool sold us a faulty machine and they should replace it. We have been told by them that they are sending the parts as a GOODWILL gesture, and will have the parts installed. Now after the whole inside of it is shot and possibly the motor and boards, that's awesome. We are now an LG/Samsung family. This was our 3rd and last set of appliances from Whirlpool. When the rest of these die, we will replace with another brand.

How sad that what once was a great company, and I grew up with my mom and grandma thinking there was no other brand to use beside Whirlpool, now we are left washerless for 3 weeks. They refuse to stand behind a mistake that was made in the factory. I've read these are made in Germany. Maybe Whirlpool needs to bring jobs back to the US and improve their quality control.

So, I called their number to ask if they would honor their faulty product JUST out of warranty...They wouldn't accept this...I live in an area with no service agents for them so I would also require freight costs of 1,000 km away...I have had an electrician examine the unit to find it may be the control panel/mother board...seems funny many issues with Whirlpool machines JUST out of warranty!!!

It's a piece of junk. The only time it will finish a wash and spin dry is when it is empty. Otherwise, it stops and lists an unbalanced error code. I opened up the service panels and found no broken hangers or clothes. There’s no way to bypass the system. I have read of similar issues and of course, it's just out of warranty. I assumed the warranty was like other brands but it’s much shorter. What to do? Purchase a washer with dials and not a "brain"; it will last years. Note that the models without a "brain" cost far less.

I purchased a Whirlpool catnip washer from Brandsmart in August of 2010. It worked fairly well, but would sometimes need for clothes to be rearranged in order for the spin cycle to complete. In June of 2013, it started to not wring the clothes out completely. It then stopped working. I called a repairman and got an estimate of $550 dollars, but I paid $578 for it.

I called Whirlpool and spoke to the supervisor of the consumer concern team. She offered me a fifty percent discount on the parts for the repair. I checked the web to see if anyone else had any problems with this product and found several. I suggest you do your homework before purchasing a Whirlpool washer. I was positive they would do more, since it’s such a prestigious company.

We purchased the Whirlpool Duet Sport matching washer and dryer new in 2006 from a local appliance store. The washer was around $1,000. The salesman sold us on the load capacity, telling us it can wash 15 pairs of jeans. We don't overload it, mostly because it's a high-efficiency washer and doesn't use much water (I'm still trying to figure out the concept of how can you clean a whole load of laundry with a little bit of water). It's very quiet, but the cycles take longer than standard washers.

Also, you must use very little soap (too much soap will cause the washer to stop and display an error code, which you'll have to call a technician to come and reset). It is now 2013, and the washer started thumping during a cycle and there was a burning rubber smell. We called an appliance repairman who gave us an estimate for repair of $800 to $900 (for a bad bearing/bearing casing and inner basket). I'm sure that there was quite a markup on those parts! It seems to me that the older non-efficient washers lasted longer than 7 years, and certainly didn't cost $1,000 when new.

I contacted Lowe's and discussed the machine and expressed my complaints. I realize that it has a sensor and fills the machine with the amount of water according to the weight of the clothes but have found that regardless of what cycle I place the machine in, it doesn't place over 2 inches of water in the machine. It does not clean the linens, under garments or any type clothes. In fact, it has ruined my designer clothes. It is impossible to get the wrinkles out with an iron. I'm very disappointed in the service we have received with this washer.

Whirlpool Cabrio - 6 Big Problems: I don't write bad reviews on anything but in this case, I feel I have to warn potential buyers. I've owned this washer for more than 4 years. Here are the problems: 1) This washer TEARS HOLES in my towels; 2) It SHREDS some clothes; 3) Loads are UNBALANCED every time I use it, regardless of load type or size; 4) Very LOUD when running. My neighbors can hear it and they are 150 feet behind us. It sounds like someone is pounding on the walls of my house. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! I haven't seen it, but I believe it might actually be jumping off the floor; 5) It's NOT High Capacity as advertised. Sure, the drum is big, but you can't put much more than a tiny load in it. If you try a larger load, the clothes don't get cleaned; and 6) Whirlpool won't do a darn thing about it. They don't care about the buyer or their own reputation.

Our family grew and I thought we needed a larger washer. I foolishly replaced a ten-year old, $300 standard top-loading GE washer that never had a problem, with this expensive **. The GE had a drum that was about 1/2 the size and it washed MORE clothes! The GE never damaged any clothes and it wasn't ridiculously loud like this one. I regret ever buying this expensive washer and I will never again buy a Whirlpool product.

But in April of this year, the E2F3 started flashing up after I put in a load of clothes. I called the repair line and they sent a guy to check it. Determining it was a sensor, I waited three days for the repair. Then, almost two months later, now, it did this again. He called WP and they said to replace the sensor again. I waited two days for the repair. Before he left, he started the washer to run through the cycle - no problem. I then put in a small load of clothes, and almost immediately, the washer stopped and the E2F3 was flashing again. I called for a repair, and am again waiting (without a washer) for the repairman to come back on Tuesday!!!

Today is Friday. I have been four weeks almost without a washer this year. That's also the $20 I have spent this last week to wash clothes at the laundromat, not to mention the frustration of waiting for the warranty line to pick up and the hassle of having someone here when the repairman comes. I am glad I purchased an extended warranty for this product, but Whirlpool should make their products to last!

I purchased Whirlpool washer in 12/2011. Immediately, I noticed the noise and called service. It was a whistling noise. The clerk told me nothing was in the manual and it would cost $65 to have a tech come out. He advised me to wait until it was louder and more consistent. I called again when it was. Gear case was replaced on 5/2/2012 five months after purchasing the machine. I called Whirlpool again in 5/2013 - same problem. I was told the diagnostic call would be $95, labor which is extended for a major job is $85 and the part would be $290. It would cost $470 to repair as the gear case was guaranteed for only three months.

This machine is a lemon since the gear case is now shot again prior to the machine being 1-1/2 yrs. old. I called Whirlpool and spoke to Amy (Esc. Sup.) who advised they would replace the part only. The appointment was scheduled; the tech came, did diagnostics reading a manual and said the gear case is shot. I inquired, "Well, you are going to fix it today right?" The reply was, "Oh no, it has to be ordered and it's a two-man job." When I arranged for this appointment, this was clearly explained and what I was expecting, two men and the part to be replaced with them.

Now it's a five-day wait to get the part and then a scheduling issue when they could do it. This machine is a lemon and I'd like to have the machine replaced or my money refunded. This is a runaround, scheduling the appointment and having someone show up with the manual and having no parts and not knowing that it was the part which broke again from previously being replaced.

I trust my repairman (who said they'd seen this type of problem before with Whirlpool) especially because he recommended buying a new machine instead. I called Whirlpool, and they said they could do nothing for me which made me very angry. This is a mechanical problem that could have been avoided by using proper materials. Although the washer is out of warranty being 7 years old, this is clearly not a part that is subject to wear and tear. The part was clearly manufactured poorly. We purchased our first front-loader washing machine (Whirlpool Duet WFW9250WW00) just over two years ago. Since we purchased it, it has torn clothes and we have replaced the drum baffles twice (this would be the third time, but we are throwing the washer out), the drum seals twice (another place clothes can get caught). I had adjusted my washing (maybe I overfilled the washer, maybe I was using the wrong spinning speed), but every so often clothing would come out with holes or torn. The drum baffles must come loose before they come out, and clothing can get caught underneath them (I think that is where the tears occur). It has happened at least once a month and I had spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out where the clothes got caught and torn.

Many people complain about bad smells from the washers (which I never had - I like the Tide with Febreeze detergent and every so often clean it with bleach or Affresh), but never torn clothing. I would really like to use a front-loading washing machine, but we are going back to the top loader - we cannot afford the clothing tears. I have seen that many people replace baffles (not many speak of clothing tears) and maybe in the future this problem will be addressed. But in the meantime, I would stay away from Whirlpool front-end washers. (GE makes some nice top loaders - and in 40 years of washing clothes and only owning two other washers, I have always thought washers to be an appliance that would last 15 years or longer with very little maintenance or trouble). I believe that I really tried to make this washing machine work out, but it got to the point where my husband did not want to wash baseball uniforms and other irreplaceable clothing in our washer.
