Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5600XW - Bought the washer/dryer set on May 13, 2011. The dryer has not given me any trouble. The washer on the other hand has been awful! From the very beginning, I noticed the washer was not getting my family's clothes clean! If one of my children had gotten anything at all on their clothes, I would have to wash about 5 items of clothing to even have a chance to get it clean! Doing this did not always work! I usually send my really dirty clothes to my mother for her to wash in her old style washing machine with an actual agitator! They always came out clean when she washed them!
Also, please do not attempt to wash comforters, sheets or any bedding in this washing machine. It does not clean them! When you take them out, they smell worse than when you washed them and have wet and dry spots all over! Oh, and they are still dirty! It is now May 8, 2013 and my washing machine does not wash or agitate anymore! I called Whirlpool and they can only offer 2 options. A repairman for Whirlpool in my area will come out for $129 to diagnose what is wrong. This price does not include parts or labor! My other option is a flat $300 where this will pay for everything along with a 1 year extended warranty. So with the $300 option, this will put me paying about $1,000 for my washing machine!
This is ridiculous. My washing machine is only 2 years old. I should not have to be repairing already! Do not buy this washing machine. If you do, definitely purchase the extended warranty and be ready to use it!

I don't like the sensing feature that takes away my choice of water level control. I don't like the locking lid. It doesn't clean the heavily soiled clothes and I have to wash them twice because of the low water level. When the water is running in during the spin cycle, after the rinse cycle it washes away all the fabric softener. It takes longer from start to finish, so I don't see how it could be energy efficient. I don't like anything about the so-called energy efficient models. My opinion is they should not have changed from the old model. If it is not broken, don't try to fix it! I will never buy another Whirlpool product unless I see some significant improvements.

About five years ago, I purchased a top load Whirlpool Cabrio washer and matching dryer. For the past couple of years or so, this washer gets out of balance every spin cycle. It sounds like a mac truck running through my house. At this time, I do not have $300-$400 to buy a warranty when I feel that this problem is so widespread (via internet complaints) that Whirlpool should fix this problem. I replaced a perfectly working 13-year old Maytag washer simply because my dryer went out. I have contacted customer service with no results. I recommended this washer to my neighbor about a couple of years ago and now I am sorry I did.
Little did I know that three years in there would have to be a repair. As you know, this isn't a bottom of the line cheap washer, therefore, I wouldn't expect it would be acting like one after this period of time. I asked Dave who at Whirlpool cared and basically, he had no answer. I told him that I would expect a company as large as Whirlpool to have people who have the job of searching the internet to see what people are saying about the company and if they did, they would know this was a problem with these washers and would initiate some sort of recall. This is such a bone of contention at my house that I wish the thing would just die so I had to go buy another (and trust me it won't be a Whirlpool). But rather, I get to listen to my washer thrust throughout my house every load I do.

We purchased this washer in April two years ago. I have had service people out twice to replace the lid. Tonight, my husband comes into the kitchen with chunks of something that I could not readily identify. He tells me the entire frame holding the light has rusted out and that the light is hanging into the tub! I followed him into our air conditioned interior laundry room and placed my hand under the rim. It’s filled with rust and the light is dangling down into the tub!

What happened to the Whirlpool Corporation that we grew up with? I purchased a Cabrio Washer on 8-29-11. Here it is, 4-24-13 and the transmission is shot. Two loads of clothes were ruined and sensors went bad. All in all, over $500 to repair it. I called the customer service line, what a joke - bad product and worse customer service. Not even and "I'm sorry." Well it is out from under warranty and when I buy something, I research it first, she said. Wow! Thanks Reena for all your care and concern. I don't know if I'll ever buy Whirlpool again.

Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine model WFW9150WW02 - This machine was purchased new in Sept. 2011 along with a brand new dryer. We started noticing a rumbling sound within the first year, but both machines did a fantastic job on the laundry. Then last week, the washing machine didn't spin out a load of laundry. We called the company and they scheduled a service visit through A&E Factory Service. The technician immediately diagnosed the problem as a bad bearing and said that he had seen the problem frequently with this model and put it down to a design defect. The bearing is housed in a stainless sheath protected by a rubber seal, but the seal lets water in, which rusts the bearing. The cost to repair it was over $700. He suggested I call WP and ask for a "concession," whereby the company would at least pick up all or part of the cost of parts.
The service representative summarily dismissed the request, saying the company had no obligation to stand behind the product as the machine was out of warranty. I said that this was unacceptable. She was pleasant, but kept asking questions and putting me on hold. Ultimately, she said the same thing. Whirlpool was once a dependable name, no more.

Please read if you're thinking about buying from Whirlpool - the Whirlpool front loading washing machine. Hmm, where do I start? Oh yeah, it's a colossal piece of garbage. Four years ago my wife and I went shopping for a washer and dryer. We looked at quite a few and then we came across the Whirlpool front loading washer. Ah, the wave of the future. The end all solution to your washing needs. The best the market has to offer and at over $1,100, they should be. The salesman completely sold us on why we should spend a little extra for such a superior product. I thought, "I work hard. I don't make a ton of money, but this sounds like a long term, worthwhile investment. Wrap it up, the washer and dryer combo."
Fast forward 4 years later. What's that awful clunking sound the washer is making? Oh, it's the drum. Maybe it's off center. I opened it up to find that the spider arm is broken. Isn't it only 4 years old? Surely they (Whirlpool) will fix this at no charge to the consumer because as I was told 4 years ago, this is the best technology. Now mind you, it's just my wife and me. She doesn't have to do laundry for 50 people or even 4 for that matter. Calling Whirlpool (ring, ring, ring. "Hello, this is Whirlpool"), I explained to them what the problem is and that we have only had this magnificent piece of gold for 4 years. "What can you do for me?" "Sorry sir, the machine is only warrantied for a year. You'll have to buy the $350 part to fix it."
Reading between the lines, "You're screwed sucker. Thanks for the cash." Really, you're telling me that I spent almost $2,000 of my very hard earned money for a washer and dryer set, and after only 4 years of use you will not fix it? Allow me to paraphrase the reply in layman's terms. Nope, you're ** and thanks for the green. Here are my thoughts on Whirlpool. They are one of the worst companies out there for customer service. The front loading washing machine is a horrible product that should be pulled off the market and never be sold again.
My experience with this company will never happen again because I will never ever buy another one of their products. So please, before you think about giving them your business by buying a front loading washing machine, think again. And remember this - I now have a $1,100 paperweight.

We have an upscale HE front-loading Whirlpool washing machine that is a "lemon" (lemon in that it is not operational & repair parts/service expenses to date are approaching cost of new machine). The service company recommended by Whirlpool (Sears Holdings' A&E Factory Service) has not been able to repair our machine. Over many weeks, a variety of A&E technicians has ordered a variety of replacement parts, none of which has served to put Whirlpool's lemon machine back in sustained operation. We are in receipt of the latest recommended repair part, but we cannot get an expedited A&E service call to have it installed.
As senior citizens in urban Los Angeles, we continue to be forced to use public laundromats. Whirlpool & Sears management have effectively walled themselves off from customer dialogue, so there is little we can do, except to wait and hope for the best. We are sad that Sears is gradually failing & that Whirlpool is weakening as well, but, without pride in product and service, it is difficult to envision the purchasing public supporting them into the future.

Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine - We purchased the (best name brand) from Get It Now and all we ever had was problems. We will fill the washer 1/2 full of clothes and the clothes on top would not even get wet. So we have to do it again, to make sure the rest of the clothes were washed. Many times there was white smudge marks on the clothes, sorta like powder (we use only liquid soap that you recommend). Today I washed a child’s bedspread for the 4th time because the stains would not come out (from a cookie). I had to turn the bedspread twice just to get it wet. I used bulk load and heavy duty load and it doesn't work. Your product is a very big disappointment for the price a person has to pay. I will recommend that no one purchase this product. Your people need to do further research on who this machine cleans clothes.

The salesperson was great but we are not happy with our washer. We already had it swapped out once because of white spots showing up on our clothes. The only thing they could think of was that the bleach I used wasn't rinsing out completely so it showed up on our clothes. Recently, I washed a table runner by itself and it had some red in it. Now there are red spots on a couple of items that I washed after the runner. My husband just now asked why there were red spots on a shirt that he wears all the time. I explained. Also, we have had some white spots on clothes and I could scratch it out without leaving a permanent mark. We're no longer using bleach and we use only liquid detergent and all of it is HE. So I don't understand the machine. I hate it.

I called today, April 9, asking about where the part was and when my machine would be repaired. I was told the part would not be available until July 11, 2013. I cannot believe that a company would expect a customer to wait nearly four months for a part as well as charge them for the parts and labor four months ahead of the part. When I called, I was first told that there were 15 parts in stock, but then was told that there were not any available to me. I have cancelled the service but it will take them three weeks to credit my card back for the part.

I sent this machine to my hometown (India) in the same packing and I used the washing machine only for three months and found a complaint. I informed this to service center in Trivandrum, Kerala. Their team came to my home and told me that warranty cannot be given as I purchased machine overseas. They added that the PCB for the machine is having complaint and they don't have stock in India. Also, the machine is no longer available in the factory. The Whirlpool company completely stopped manufacturing the abovementioned model.
Again, I came to UAE and contacted GEC group of companies for the PCB part. I got a quotation for PCB Dhs 425/- but the items is ex-stock with them. My microwave stopped working in January. It’s now April and I still do not have a new one. It keeps getting lost or shipped to the wrong address or something. Every time I call, the representatives don’t know how to look it up. I wind up on hold for at least 30 minutes, and I get transferred to at least 3 different people. I hope my last appliance doesn't break because I’m over Whirlpool, and I will never buy another appliance from them again.

Extremely unsatisfied with their customer care. I purchased a washer and dryer 18 months ago and did not choose to purchase an extended warranty. I currently need a main control board replaced after the machine stopped spinning and draining. I hired a wonderful handyman, who originally suspected the lid--locking mechanism was the problem. When that was replaced and the machine still wasn't functioning, he determined the main control board needed replacing. This is a manufacturer defect and costs approximately $300 for the part, not including labor. Of course, my machine is no longer covered under the extremely limited manufacturer's warranty that only lasts for 12 months, so I am stuck picking up the bill.
Once done with all the parts and labor, it's cheaper to buy a new washing machine especially because they still won't add a warranty to it after it's fixed. I think it's absurd that a manufacturer's defect isn't continually covered under warranty no matter how old the machine is. Customer service continued to tell me I should have wasted more money on a company that doesn't care about customer satisfaction and purchased an extended warranty originally. Horrible investment! Will never purchase Whirlpool appliances ever again!

I have always run my washer as instructed, and I only used HE detergent in the correct amount. This residue appears to be fine lint, but may be lint combined with detergent.
I have used the washing machine cleaning tablets and powders, but this has not helped at all. No one seems to have ever heard of this problem. Cabrio Washing Machine - I purchased my washer and dryer in May of 2008. I had problems with sheets, towels and pants getting very twisted and tangled, but I just attributed that to a design flaw. My problems really began in January 2013 when loads were not level all the time. It didn't matter if it were 1 shirt or a load of towels; you had to stand by the machine and it took forever to finish a cycle.
On 1/11/13, the first repair was the rods that kept the drum stable. $260.82 later, it worked again. On 2/16/13, the washer quit working. On 2/18/13, the repairman was back out. It needed a lid lock switch. It was $87.14 that time and he would be back when the part arrives ... There was still no washing machine. On 2/21/13, he returned with the lid switch and replaced it. That was $178.04 but wait, there were still other error codes so there was no working machine.
I refuse to pay anymore as I now fear I will be buying a new machine after spending over $500 in less than 6 weeks, but Whirlpool did the right thing when I called and they agreed to repair the machine. They wanted a different company to come diagnose the problem (the machine gave an F50 and F51 error code to the repairman here on the 21st), so I have to wait for another repairman to come and look at the same codes flashing on the LED readout.
On 3/1/13, the A&E repairman that Whirlpool sent out arrived at my house. I have been without a washer since the 16th of February. He diagnosed the problem and said that it is a $1,000 repair! I called Whirlpool and asked for a new machine, instead of throwing more money at this one. They informed me that if I didn't like their offer, they won't do anything then. I agreed to the repair.
Parts started arriving at my house. On 3/13/13, another A&E repairman came out and started to fix the machine. He informed me that there was more wrong than the first guy thought, but he had the circuit boards so he would get it going. On 3/24/13, the washer quit working again and was flashing an F51 error code. This is the biggest piece of junk I have owned in my life. I have missed 5 half days of work since January and there is no end in sight. Why is Whirlpool allowed to get away with such an inferior machine?

I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer in 2007. They have been the biggest pieces of junk. One year after my purchase, the water pump broke and had to be replaced for $100 and that is with my husband doing it. Then the dryer broke twice. Now, the washer is not spinning. He took it apart and I purchased $80 in parts. It still doesn't spin. He thinks the motor went and it gives a p50 code. This washer does make holes in your clothes. So many of my summer tops were ruined because of this washer. A friend has the same washer and she started getting the holes in the clothes, so that is how we figured it out.
Today, I went and picked up a washer at my rental home, a GE that is 10 years old. My clothes never felt cleaner and it runs like a charm. That Cabrio always smelled like mildew because it seemed like all the water didn't drain out of it and it would sit in the bottom. What a shame. It's only 6 years old and I paid $800 for it and for parts. My husband can't wait to put it on the curb on garbage day. My friend warrantied hers and when the guy couldn't fix the problem, they gave her partial money back. At least she got something. These should be recalled and we should get partial money back depending on how old it is. I will tell everyone not buy these. They are the biggest pieces of junk!

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer approximately 4 years ago thinking we were purchasing a top-of-the-line washer. The first year went great. I was very impressed with how it washed. My clothes came out cleaner than ever before; I loved it. But shortly after the warranty expired, one of the water pumps began leaking out all over the floor. We found out that a coin had passed through the barrel down into the pump and caused the plastic pump to crack with the high speed spin. We replaced that pump at a cost of over $100. We shopped around to find the part as reasonable as possible.
The machine worked fine for about another 10 months, then it happened again. The new pump began spitting out water all over the floor. So again, we found another coin, another crack in the pump and again replaced it, another $100+. Finally, a third time, it was the same thing; the pump cracked due to a coin. This time, it was the pump on the opposite side, but still, water was all over the floor. This time, we ordered the part through Whirlpool and complained about this happening for a third time. My husband asked them about the "Lemon Law" and he was told that he would have had to purchase all of the pumps through Whirlpool. What does that have to do with it?
We bought the pumps where we could afford them! The washer cost about $700 to begin with, and within 4 years, we've spent approx. $400 more? That's not the end of it though. Now we are hearing loud noises and there is water all over the floor again every time you wash. This time, it's not the pumps though. It appears that it has something to do with the bearings and maybe a seal somewhere around the barrel itself. But you can hear something knocking around - it sounds almost like a nut. We are going to call a local repairman to come and look at it tomorrow.
This is just ridiculous. I feel like we've been completely duped over this purchase. The salesman talked this up like it was the cream of the crop and we've had nothing but problems. My last washing machine was a Kenmore and it lasted nearly 15 years and not once did I have to call a repairman or buy parts for it! Guess what I'm going to buy again? If Whirlpool would just acknowledge these problems and fix them for people, it might renew faith in your company. I know I don't know the inner workings of a washing machine, but it seems to me that a screen prior to the pumps to keep coins from entering the pumps would've been a very cheap fix to a huge problem.
I also own the Cabrio dryer and have hated it since the day I got it. It never dry things with one cycle. I always have to run it a second time. Knock on wood though, I have never had any breakdowns with that. I can guarantee my next buy will not be Whirlpool, nor will I pick expensive models again. I bought the cheap stuff years ago and it lasted forever! I'm very nervous because I bought a Whirlpool fridge last year and I am praying I have no problems with that!

I have never heard of this type of problem nor have I experienced it with prior washing machines. Once the sock was removed from the pump, the machine started working again, $140 repair costs. I'm glad I purchased extended warranty that covered the repairs.

On its 1st year, the water pump went out. It cost $200.00 to replace it. On its 2nd year, the circuit board went out, and it took $300.00+ to replace it. On its 5th year, the bearings went out and cost $250.00 to replace it. I bought this for $900.00, and I already have paid $750.00 plus the price of purchase which makes this washer $1,600.00. Whirlpool should compensate all of us who have worked hard and have purchased this product! I will never purchase from Whirlpool again. I can’t afford them. I should get a refund from Whirlpool. We purchased a new Cabrio top loading washer in June of 2011 to replace a Maytag Neptune (thinking at the time that we'd gone as low as possible). We didn't abuse the machine. In fact, because it had a tempered glass lid (in a plastic frame), we were careful with the lid on the machine. It broke during a wash cycle. Because it's heavy, the lid has spring supports on both sides; these are stronger than the plastic frame and over time the frame will break, rendering the machine inoperable.
The discounted price for a new lid is over $200, and Maytag (I mean Whirlpool) tells us that it lasted through the 365 day warranty, so the bill is on us. It may be green when it works, but taking 18 month appliances to the landfill is not very green. And others on the web report say that the lid only lasts a year or so. The ratings scale needs to have negative values. I'd give this appliance a -5.

I purchased a Cabrio Platinum 4.6 top-loading washer with model number WTW8240YW0 in January of 2013. My machine has a consistent/re-occurring problem of not rinsing the clothes well. After multiple washings, including the extra rinse, my dark clothing still come out with lint, dog hair, dirt and white residue all over them. I have already checked to see if the hot/cold hoses might have been crossed. I also checked for water pressure to see if water is exiting the machine properly. It is still under warranty, and I have scheduled for a repairman. However, I will most likely return the washer to Lowes.

My agitator-free washer began tearing small holes in my clothing and sheets about one year after purchase. I contacted Whirlpool and they sent out a service person, who ran a diagnostic test on the washer and said it was fine and I should learn how to wash clothes and load the washer, etc. The barrel of this washer has little holes and I believe that when it spins the clothing, some pieces may stick in one of those holes causing tearing. The service person also told me that my clothes were old. I guess that means this washer is not for washing old clothing. The tears in my clothing are in places that are very unlikely to tear, like the back of my jeans behind the calf of a leg, about half way up from the ankle. There are holes in my tee shirts at the bottom of the back. Even if I were a smoker, which I am not, I would not likely burn holes in those areas. Whirlpool obviously does not want to accept responsibility for this problem, even though there are many other people having the same problem with this type of washer.

This is the worst washing machine we have ever owned. We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer set at Lowe’s in Loganville, GA on 04/11/2010. Today is 02/22/2013 and the transmission is shot in the washer. It began making an extremely loud and terrible noise during the rinse and spin cycle. We called a local and trusted appliance repairman, and after his diagnosis including estimate to repair the washer, it totaled over $525.00. This is a terrible washer. I will never ever buy a Whirlpool appliance again. Oh, forgot to mention we have purchased four (4) major appliances from Lowe's over the past 2 1/2 years in addition to purchases for our plumbing business and won't do it again! Also, Whirlpool couldn’t care less and there is just one complaint after another for the exact same problem online.

We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine a year and a half ago. It started making loud noises over time and finally stopped. Whirlpool did advise us that it was out of warranty but suggested they send a factory repairperson out. They told us depending on the problem they might pay the bill. It turned out that a nut holding the pulley had not been tightened up properly at the factory and had no restraining device, so it simply rattled off over time. Since we don't use the machine that much, the problem went past the 1-year warranty. It cost us two hundred and fourteen dollars for repairs. I could have put the nut back on myself for free. The service guy also said they had multiple similar problems and I should contact Whirlpool and they would probably work with me. No chance. They only kept repeating that it was out of warranty. I even talked with a supervisor who said the same thing. I asked to appeal further and she refused to give me anyone else I could contact. I asked for their legal department information, and she said she did not have that and I would have to get that through my attorney. What a joke. No more Whirlpool for me.

We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio in April 2012 and in July 2012, it started giving problems. It wouldn't start. It started humming. We heard money-like jingling noises. It stopped spinning and rinsing clothes. I called for service. No luck with that. So in order to wash, I had to drag the washer to the back door (which ripped up my new floors) hang hose outside for it to finish the load. Well a few months later, that didn't work so the assistant where it was purchased told us to cut the pipe down in the wall. Now we have a big hole in the wall. My floors are ruined and we are out getting another washer. This one is not even a year old. That was a $750 loss.

I purchased my Whirlpool Duet washer about 14 months ago. After about 8 months, I noticed that it had started leaking. It was under warranty and the seal was replaced no problem. I then started to notice that my clothes were getting small tears in them. Around January (13 months after purchase), I got tired of finding new clothes and jackets with rips and tears in them. I finally found that the plastic piece around the entrance to the washer was rough and jagged. I called Whirlpool and they told me they could send out a service tech to file down the jagged edges. They told me this was a common problem caused by the zippers on jackets hitting the plastic and causing it to become rough.
Because it was one month out of warranty, I would have to pay for the service call. The lady told me I could try filing it down myself. I feel like I should not have to file down anything 14 months after purchasing a new washer. I feel like I should not have to worry that my clothes are ruined every time I wash them. If this is a common problem as the lady told me, it appears to me to be a design flaw and should have a recall. I have lost several outfits and jackets due to this machine and I am very frustrated that Whirlpool would not stand behind their product.

I purchased my new Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load washer to replace a Maytag that had finally given out in the summer of 2012. I wish I did more due diligence, but with a toddler and a newborn, I needed a washer asap. I severely regret my $800 purchase from Sears. It is now February 2013 and the machine basically only runs on two cycles - Casual and Normal. All the others stop in mid-cycle. Sometimes, the items are still dry or partially wet so I need to switch to another cycle to complete the wash. This is not good for Delicates or when I wash Whites, Heavy Duty or Bulky items which is one of the reasons I purchased the model. The cycle stops when the items are soaked with massive amounts of water.
So I then have to turn it to the Drain cycle and start over. After a day of washing one load, I could've done it the old-fashioned way in my utility basin sink and hung it out to dry ... I don't have the time for this. I am going to make a formal complaint to Whirlpool and to Sears. I cannot keep spending nearly $1,000 for items that break within a year. These companies should be ashamed of their lack of quality. I should've gone with the Electrolux and just dealt with the price tag - I would've been much happier.

My wife loves the operation of the Cabrio, so we bought a WTW8200YW today, in the false hope that it will work much better. This is an update from an earlier post. On 1/7/11, I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer model WTW7800XW. As of today, 2/11/13, the repairman just left after replacing the second lid on the unit. Apparently, the plastic trim piece around the glass lid is not strong enough causing the piece to crack near the hinge area. It's the same problem, same area, second time since 2/11/11. This is a faulty manufacturer issue. My extended insurance, that I paid extra for, covered the costs. I'm lucky in that regard. So probably, in another year, the lid will break again in the same area and I will have to go through this same process hoping that the insurance covers a 3rd lid. As for other complaints, the clothing still comes out all wrinkled and doesn't really get cleaned. I have been using the heavy duty setting all the time so the machine uses more water in an attempt to get clothes cleaned. So what am I really saving? My advice to people looking to buy a new washing machine, "do purchase a Whirlpool Cabrio."

He found the part to fix it (which is the timer or control panel); it was to cost just about $400 to get and install. That is outrageous! I don't think for one moment that the repairman was trying to pull a fast one on me, charging me more than what the part cost. The control panel software or whatever it is called should not cost as much as the entire machine. I purchased a brand new Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer set not even 2 years prior. When I first started using it, I pulled shirts out of the wash after being ran through and found deodorant marks still on the inside of the shirts. I had to wash all of my loads on heavy soil and still had to run some loads through more than once. The wash machine quit working about 1 month ago, so I had a service man out to look at it. It ended up being the control panel and the part itself was going to cost me $300 and by the time I paid to have it repaired, the total cost was just under $400. The service man proceeded to tell me that Whirlpool had another company actually make the control panels for the Cabrio model and he has serviced several of these washers and when he would repair one part, another part would stop working.
I was very upset and bought a new wash machine. I would like to add, I am a single mom with a 2 1/2 year old, so the wash machine was not used excessively in any way. I don't work outside so my clothes are never soiled heavily. Needless to say, my washer was not under warranty so Whirlpool "couldn't" do anything for me. A wash machine should last longer than less than 2 years. I would not recommend this model to anyone. And for Whirlpool to put their name on such a poor product is very disappointing since I have had good experiences with their products in the past.

There is my husband and myself in the home, so there isn't a ton of laundry. The problem has been that the clothes just kind of get sloshed around in a little bit of water, causing detergents not to get rinsed out. In other words, I have detergent streaks on the clothes. Presently, I have decided that I will probably have to re-rinse everything after the regular cycle. This has been so disappointing.

I came here to see if others have had problems with their Whirlpool Cabrio top load washers. I was amazed at how many others forked over nearly a grand ($1000 with tax and extended warranty) for such a heap of nothing. I have lived in the same house for over 35 years, same water supply with water softener. Over this time, I have raised my family and been lucky enough to only go through two washers until 2 years ago when I purchased this Whirlpool Cabrio machine at Lowe's. As with others, clothes do not get cleaned. Residue is present and in the creases of the tightly spun and tangled load. After calling Whirlpool and Lowe's on nearly day one of my original purchase, no concern was given. Instead, I received the "What type of detergent" or "Could it be your water supply?" or "What degree of soil does your family have on their garments?" A white terry cloth washcloth should not come out grey, even after bleach! My GE and Maytags of the past always did fantastic jobs. They just plain old wore out.
As for my new energy efficient machine that takes 86 minutes to wash a load, with expensive HE detergent, an oxy clean pouch, special fabric softeners, I scratch my head wondering how can this be efficient? If a pair of jeans needs pre-soaking, it can't be done in this washer. Instead, I spray the jeans with pre-soak, add my HE products, then fill a mop bucket full of water and dump into the machine 5 minutes after the 86-minute session has started. What a joke! For two years plus, I have vented to my poor husband who thought he was buying me a new innovative state of the art machine to make my life easier. I only wish there was somewhere or someone that I could contact to get some satisfaction for my agony with this poor quality product! Yes, I am venting. I don't have another thousand dollars to spend for a new machine. Believe me, if there were to be a class action lawsuit for this lemon, I would be first to sign up!

One month after the 1 year manufacturer’s warranty had ended, the washer lid hinge cracked causing the lid to "hump up" enough that steam was exiting the washer during "hot" cycles. I notified Whirlpool of the problem and of course that would not stand by their product. I also notified the dealer where I purchased and they could not help me either. The extended warranty people were notified, and they refused to warranty the issue stating they thought it was from abuse. After arguing with the extended warranty people, they agreed to send a repair person to "check" the problem.
The repair guy agreed with me that the problem was not abuse but was a defect in the material used to make the plastic hinge. He obtained approval and repaired the washer lid under the extended warranty. So now, after a year from the warranty repair, I noticed the lid hinge was cracking again. Now, I must fight again with the extended warranty people. I'm not at all happy with the Whirlpool product. I agree with many of these complaints that the washer does not clean the clothes very well. The bolt had come off of the pulley, which then fell off and burned through the guard, and then burned into the insulating on the bottom. The technician said this happens frequently. All that needs to happen is to have a Loctite bolt holding the pulley rather than a plain bolt which comes loose with the vibration. All Whirlpool had to do was spend a couple cents more for the proper part which would avoid potential fire! I should not have needed to have had my home put at risk, needed this service call or pay all that extra money because of their poor workmanship and design failure. I want to warn everyone out there to not buy this piece of junk unless you only want to wash your undies on a delicate cycle. Because that is what kind of washer this is. It does not agitate well enough at all to clean anything decently. My socks came out smelling - I had to wash them twice and everything else too. It does not agitate; it has a lousy program that makes the agitator move from one area to another so slowly that it is a joke! Like on a delicate cycle on my old washer, it just swishes. I don't know how or why such a lousy product could ever be on the market. I am so glad I did not buy this. I am only renting it from a reputable rental company. It was brand new, out of the box. I saw it being installed! I am shocked at the quality that Whirlpool has succumbed to.
I’m absolutely appalled! Who do they think they are kidding? Only the consumer is hurt by such lousy lousy pieces of equipment such as this. And no, I read the manual. I know about how to "adjust" the different cycles. Well, there is no adjusting this thing. It just does not wash worth a (you know what!) or rinse well either. I picked the lid up enough to see in to be able to add more water with my hose and saw how it worked, how little it agitated. You can't even call that agitating; it is just swishing the clothes around. Is it any wonder they don't come out clean? Yes, it spins like a tornado and the clothes do come out almost dry. But what good is a washing machine that does not clean the clothes? This is what the American consumer is having to buy now (not to mention all the other problems I had already read online about these - lock top, water saver washers, electronic computer control panel)?
Well, they lock the lid so you can't see what is going on in there - not just the safety reasons they tell you for faster spinning. You'd be calling your Congressman about this if you saw how it really agitates/swishes. So I guess they stuck an agitator on the impeller ones and so it just doesn't agitate well. And you don't save water because if you use the pause button to add an item, it drains the whole machine of the water and starts to refill it and start all over. The manual says it does not if you catch it in the first 10 minutes, but that's not true either. So you are actually using more water. And you are using more electricity as you have to wash your clothes twice or even get them clean enough to say you washed your clothes with the old-fashioned "real" washing machines.
Come on people. I used to use a wringer washer in the old days, and this is comparable to that where the clothes just moved around and were not actually agitated. The industry has gone down the tubes with this whole design. I am so glad we actually bought a front-loading Kenmore from Sears. Even though they, too, have problems, it is nothing to that extent - this does not even wash clothes at all! It is going to be a long month (until we get our Sears one) using this Whirlpool piece of junk. I have to say it is not just Whirlpool; all these new top-loading, top lock, water saving machines are all like this. Buyer beware! Don't buy one. You'll be sorry and very angry! By the way, all the major washing machine companies make their new top loaders all like this, as there are basically only two companies that make them and they are all made overseas.
I have done an extensive amount of research on them prior to buying ours on layaway, and I am shocked that the industry has lowered its standards so very very much! I hope a lot of people get forewarned about these "new" washers and don't waste their hard-earned dollars buying them. Our Sears store also told us that all the washers now, no matter what make or model, all have the computer panel with sensor and lights with the panel; they told me that when it goes break (which it does in less than 2 years) or if you have power surges, then it is $500 automatically to replace. So then they try to sell you the warranty that costs $250 so you can get that panel covered when it breaks, which it will. They know exactly what they are doing when they build these things now.
If anyone who has really researched these things as I have can tell me how to make this really agitate so the clothes can get clean and not just this silly little swishing around every 2" or so, please let me know. There has to be some way around this. No parts probably like the old washers that washed the heck out of clothes. I can't even imagine anyone using this with children who go outside or men who are blue-collar workers. This is only for people who don't get their clothes dirty to begin with.

Well, I read most of the complaints with the failures in the machine. I guess most of them didn't last long enough to rate their performance so here we go. I bought a Cabrio top loader, high-E washer a couple of years ago. This one had a different kind of agitator - it was just a couple of inches or so off the bottom. I specifically bought this to wash comforters and it seemed like it was good for that (rousing agreement from the salesperson). So after a couple of years of working with it, here are my observations:
Pros: There are absolutely none!
Cons: Okay, other than not having control over the settings (cannot override any of the preprogrammed wash settings), it simply doesn't get loads clean (yes, I use expensive HE detergent). Except for the bulky setting, there is never enough water to wash and rinse the loads properly. Next, it makes a mess of the clothes. At the end of the cycle, and this is true no matter what I wash or how large or small the load is or which cycle I pick - even light and slow spin, it just makes a tangled mess of the load. Stuff gets stuck inside of other stuff, wrapped around other stuff or are balled up. Never have I seen this type of issue. I constantly get the unbalanced load notice and have to manually redistribute the clothes most of the time.
To address the too little water level, there are two options. I have discovered that the bulky setting has the highest water level, so I use that most of the time. From time to time (when I need different water temps or just want more water), I have developed a work-around by putting a "Y" adapter on the hot water inlet and a short hose. Once the washer starts the wash cycle, I stop it and add a bit of hot water to bring the level up enough to do a decent wash job - same for the rinse cycle. So much for Whirlpool's water efficiency.
Next, the hot isn't hot. It's barely lukewarm. So I turn the cold down to a trickle and I get a bit hotter water. It takes forever to rinse though. It's a good thing I'm semi-retired. Next is the inflexible cycle/water selector. I have never had a washer I couldn't override to tell it what to do in unusual circumstances. Boy, what rocket scientist at Whirlpool dreamed that up!
But above all, this just doesn't get loads clean. I have experimented with all the variables, load size, cycle selection, detergents, etc. Most of the time, I have to do two cycles with my loads and these are not unusual or extremely dirty loads. They are just normal, everyday laundry for an adult couple. Really, Whirlpool! Who was the conceptual designer on this? Thank goodness they weren't working on the space shuttle or some disease research.
Bottom line, I am so soured on the design and performance of this product that I will never buy another Whirlpool product, either brand name or generic (Sears). I just can't understand how a company would let something like this out the door.

I have the Cabrio model WTW6400SW2. I have had it for 5 1/2 years and have been happy with it up until several months ago. The F1 would come up when the machine would lock and just start to fill. I could pause it and start it again, and it might do this 1 to 3 times. It would also do it on the rinse cycle. I have been using it because I did not want a repair bill right now. The machine was also starting to make noise when it was spinning. Well, I just happened to break my dryer yesterday so I thought I would get the washer fixed also.
Well, the repairman said that the controller would cost $200 for the part, and then he said the pump roller and bearings were going. By the time you add on labor, he said, “You might want to buy a new one.” He told me that Whirlpool has completely changed the washer now because of all the problems with them. He told me to look it up on the computer, and maybe there would be a class action suit. After reading some of the reviews, I will not buy another Whirlpool again.

I bought washing machine Whirlpool Cabrio Model WTW7300XWO two years ago. It only lasted 2 years and the tub seal and tub bearing went bad. I called Whirlpool and they wouldn't replace defective part on their dime. I talked to supervisor and they still refused to admit they needed to fix this broken product on their dime and make it last longer than 2 years. They claimed only a 1-year warranty. This is totally unacceptable to have a supposedly good washer that you pay $700 for (manufacturer price $899) last only 2 years! Very, very disappointed! I wouldn't buy from this company again!

I purchased my Cabrio HE WTW6600SB1 in 2006. Several months ago, I started getting the F1 error message. I remedied it by pushing Cancel and then Start two or three times to get the machine to engage. I finally researched this problem on the internet and found out everyone else with this model had experienced the same problem and Whirlpool was, in fact, paying to repair the problem. They sent a repairman to my home and he replaced the control panel, but due to our continuous pushing of the Start button due to the F1 error code, the Start button had broken. In order to replace/fix the Start button, the entire top of the machine housing and circuit board must be replaced (to the tune of $657!). Whirlpool, of course, would not pay for that. After reading the endless complaints about the quality (or lack thereof) of Whirlpool washers, I will never purchase another one. They should be sued over the quality of this machine. A $1,000 washer should last more than six years!

I bought a high-efficiency Whirlpool washing machine in August 2011. One week after the warranty ran out, it stopped working. I called Whirlpool who, of course, would not fix my problem because I no longer had a warranty but did put me in touch with a repair company in my area. They came out and fixed it for 100 bucks, service and parts (service, of course, cost more than the part/labor). I didn't mind the hundred bucks, whatever. My washer was working again.
Two weeks ago, I experienced yet another problem with my washing machine. Now, I understand machines getting used a lot over the years and eventually burning out, but this machine is a little more than a year old. I should not be experiencing problems with such a new machine. The problem was when the machine reached the spin cycle, it would just stop working and then lights would start blinking, blah, blah, blah. I called the repairman again who came out and reset my machine, hoping that that would work. He then told me if it happened again to let him know and he would have to replace the motherboard. Okay, I can live with that. Another 73 bucks, that's fine. Of course, this didn't work, and we ended up replacing the motherboard. Another 178 bucks - that's $324 that I have now invested in a washing machine, half of what it cost to begin with. But it's an investment, right? And I need clean clothes so whatever.
I was a little wary when the repairman told me that a problem with the motherboard may be related to a problem with the motor, that it can send signals to the motherboard if it's not working and is just a "symptom" of the actual diagnosis. I guess he was right because 3 loads into using my newly repaired washing machine and the same problem has arisen, yet again. I refuse to invest any more money into what is obviously a "lemon." Rest assured I will never again purchase a Whirlpool product, regardless of what type of appliance it is.

A-10 error on display ultimately means needs a new pump. The washer (model WFC7500VW 2) is 3 months, 9 days old and is now unusable. I cannot get any service (under 1-year manufacturer's warranty) because the sticker inside the door with the model and serial # is missing (i.e., it was sold to me by Homedepot.com without a serial # on the door label, sticker is intact and is brand new and apparently was printed without a serial #).
I made multiple calls to Whirlpool in Benton Harbor, Michigan and finally spoke with Courtney (who states she was a supervisor) pretty much said all they will do is to reprint a label from the factory and I should have it in 7-10 business days. They refuse to stand behind their product and authorize timely repair of their product they sold to my without a serial # on the door tag from the factory. I have to wait to schedule factory warranty repair until I get the new label (probably 3 weeks plus without a usable washer). He looked at the broken machine and determined the interface board was bad, and he put a temporary repair on the washer and said "It's okay to use for now." He will return in 2 weeks with the replacement part.
We tried the machine with a load of clothes. The machine filled up with water then quit, and the door was locked. We called to get a tech to open the door so we could retrieve our clothes. "No one is available for 1 1/2 week." I called Whirlpool and was told a claim form would be mailed to me so we could be compensated for the damaged clothes. The letter arrived. I was appalled when I read it. First, it came from their Legal dept. The intent was to scare us into getting a lawyer or just use our homeowner's insurance for the damaged clothes claim. At any rate the washing machine is very hard on clothing, tearing light fabrics and ruining my wife's bras. The clothes often come out with shreds of fabric from the other clothes in the washer. Oftentimes, it will not complete a cycle because it constantly goes out of balance. Today I paused the machine halfway through the wash cycle after the soak cycle to throw in some more laundry and start the cycle over. Half the clothes were still dry!
Yes it may save water, but if you only use a cup of water for a load of clothes, how well can it clean? My wife has sensitive skin. So now we wash a load with extra rinse and normal soap then run the cycle again with no soap to get the soap residue rinsed out. We're saving big now! Yes, we are using HE detergent and the recommended amount. The machine is pure junk. I would love to see a class action suit against Whirlpool for selling such an inferior product. I have a two-year-old "top of the line" Whirlpool Duet Steam washer. Cleaning performance is adequate at best, but my biggest complaint is about the visible mold buildup that collects on the water dispensing plate as well as on the detergent, bleach and softener dispenser and rubber lining of the washer opening. I have cleaned the removable detergent dispenser weekly since purchasing. The water dispensing plate has a continuous buildup of thick black mold that can only be removed with a tooth brush and bleach and only a small portion of those openings are reachable. I have cleaned the machine with Affresh as recommended and exactly as the manufacturer recommends. Nothing changes!
I contacted Whirlpool and was told this was normal for all washers in which some moisture always remains and that I should continue to clean and leave the door and dispenser drawer open to allow the areas to air dry. So, I have done all of those things for the past year and nothing has changed! I received notification that a class action suit had been filed against Whirlpool for this mold issue but have not been contacted in any other way. Not only is this mold visibly disgusting but certainly is worrisome from a health perspective. I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer in May of 2009. I do laundry for only 3 adults, so I never run more than 3-4 loads a week. It constantly is off-balance when spinning and requires positioning the load again several times before it will continue its cycle. Now 5 to 8 minutes into it filling with water, it stops filling and beeps, and code F shows up on the screen. Also, during the spin cycles, it is very loud and fast. It sounds like it is about to take off anytime. I called customer service to no avail. They just wanted me to schedule a repairman to come out and fix it at my expense. Now, I know why they only give a one-year warranty - they know it will last one year but not much longer. I'm from a generation of people that is used to appliances lasting 10 - 14 years and the company stood behind their products and didn't ask you to buy an expensive extended warranty for the 2nd year and so on.
If inferior products were not manufactured, there would be no need for an extended warranty. Anyway, I'm not going to put any money (I was quoted a $129 charge by Whirlpool's service department just for the diagnosis of the problem which didn't include the labor or parts costs.) into a washer that will probably continue to have problems and become a money pit. Consequently, I will never buy nor recommend anyone buy Whirlpool appliances. It would get quite expensive buying a new washer every 3 years or buying the extended warranty plan. The matching dryer had no major problems, but a couple of years ago, I had to have the door changed from opening from right to left to opening from left to right because the door catch broke on the right side. Hopefully, nothing else will go wrong with it in the near future.

In October 2009, we purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio topload washing machine for almost $900, because my wife's sister had a 1-year-old one and had been pleased. The Cabrio replaced a 3 1/2-year-old Maytag that died with a seized-up transmission. Maytag is also a Whirlpool product for those of you who do not know. We had issues at first with it going "off balance" but dealt with it. It was also taking 40+ minutes to do even a small load of laundry, but again, we dealt with it. Fast forward about 3 years, and we notice the machine is making really loud sounds during the spin cycle. I checked for any obvious issues but found none. The noise kept getting louder with each use. Finally, I called a repairman to check it out. His diagnosis was quick. The bearings were going bad in the machine, and he said it would eventually fail. He quoted me a price of between $400-$500 to repair because the job is very labor-intensive. I declined the repair but still had to pay him a trip charge.
Then I checked with my wife's sister about hers, and she said hers had been making a very loud sound for several months but they were just ignoring it. I told her about the diagnosis of mine and advised her to tilt the machine back to look under it. Sure enough, there were oil stains under her machine, just like mine, indicating the bearings were failing. So we have 2 Cabrio machines, one 3 years old and the other 4 years old with the exact same problem. I called Whirlpool since I had registered the machine when I purchased it. They basically told me to go fly a kite since I had not purchased the extended warranty. They said I could attempt to repair it myself to save money, but they advised to have their repairman do the work. Well, no kidding.
What a joke. They expect you to buy a $900 machine and have to replace it every 3 years. I am done with Whirlpool products. FYI, Kenmore products are also made by Whirlpool, so Sears is not an option. My wife's sister and we bought new GE washing machines, and both of us purchased the extended warranty this time. For $129 (5 years), it's cheap, peace of mind. Whirlpool is crap. I would suggest never buying any of their products. I know we never will. Once they have your money, they don't care.

I called again and they said that perhaps there was something wrong with the washer and they were going to send a service technician out. I told her that he would probably not find anything wrong with it. I was just very unhappy with the product. She told me that we should check it out and not to worry. It was still under warranty and Whirlpool was going to take care of the service call. The technician told me that they have received many complaints about the machine, but there were no fixes available at this time.
Yesterday, I received a bill from the service company for $129.00. I called the service company and told them that Whirlpool should be billed for this, not me. I told her that I wanted to cancel the extended warranty that I just mailed in this week and she gave me another phone number to call. I purchased this Whirlpool washing machine model# WTW4950XW2 and after 10 months of use, it broke down. The repairman fixed it (gear box) and said that the motors and the control boards went bad. I didn't get a week's use out of it because the motor went bad. He came and fixed the motor and it didn't work once after that. I called Whirlpool up and they sent their serviceman out twice and they didn't do much but reprogram it and both times it didn't do one full cycle. Now they (Whirlpool) are going to put a new control board in and hope it works. Whirlpool wants me to get another year's warranty on the machine & charge me $100 and not do anything about all the money I spent going to the laundromat (2 month's worth) while this machine was not working. There should be a recall on this machine for replacement & reimbursement of all the time and money lost.

Our Duet Whirlpool washing machine is less than 3 years old. It would not always turn on when we would start it, or it would start and then it would give me an "F70" error. If we pushed the start button again, it would continue to go through the wash cycle. There was nothing in the manual about that error. I called the service department and they could not tell me what an F70 error was either. The service department wanted to schedule a service call right away and offered me an "extended" warranty for $345.00, for one year. Since it was less than 3 years, and it didn't seem too serious (since the wash cycle would complete after pushing start again), I figured that it wouldn't be that much of a repair bill, so I declined. Also, I might add, that my previous 25 year old washer had only had one repair bill for a total of $200.00.
When the service tech left, he handed me a repair bill for $741.00! I nearly fainted! He put in a new "board". I immediately called the service department back and they said, "Sorry, the extended warranty was a one-time offer" and no assistance was offered when I asked. I could have bought a brand new washing machine for that price. Bottom line is, I would not buy a Whirlpool appliance again, and I would never contact Whirlpool for a problem. I would contact someone local. Had I known that a repair bill could have remotely cost over $300.00 on a new washing machine, I would have waited until it completely died and then bought a new one, and not a Whirlpool!

I purchased a very expensive Cabrio top-loading washer thinking I would never have to worry because supposedly it’s the top of the line, right? Well, I have it a few years; the first week they replaced the basket because it was ruining my clothes. And then I had to replace the pump because of a coin getting caught and putting a hole in the pump. Really? What the heck? Now the basket is all shredded at the top. Obviously that isn’t right, so what do I do now? Replace the basket again? Who gives them the right to charge so much for a piece of junk? Plus, it’s supposed to save on water, but I feel that the clothes don’t really clean well. They hardly feel wet coming out of the machine.

Wish I had done more homework before I purchased a Cabrio washer and dryer. The washer uses so little water that I sometimes find "dry spots" on clothing when I take it out. How can it possibly be clean if it doesn't even get entirely wet? I now "pre-rinse" all of my underwear before putting it in the machine. I know the instructions say not to put in wet clothing, but if it breaks sooner, I'll get to replace it sooner with a more traditional model. I always use the lowest spin speed - anything else makes my clothes hopelessly wrinkled. I like the large tub for washing blankets and comforters. That's about the only advantage I can think of. The dryer "sensor" quite often goes off after about 2 minutes if I use any setting other than the "delicate" or "timed" features. I've had the machines for 2 years and had the dryer repaired once under the extended warranty I purchased. Very disappointing purchase.

There seemed to be an issue with the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Pump. If a button comes off from your clothing or snap, etc., it gets trapped in the washer pump, causing it to crack and leak. Whirlpool on warranty only allows for one free change and anything after that costs $300.00. This is going to be the third time we are having problems with this and it is becoming, economically, a struggle for us. We have checked every button and snap to make sure they are fastened tightly, as well as any other type of items that may fall off in the wash and become trapped in the pump causing it to crack and leak. These pumps were poorly made and Whirlpool needs to be more aware of this problem rather than telling the customer that they are not aware of the situation.

The Cabrio model (WTW5640XWO) I purchased in March 2011 died within days of installation. I was given instructions to modify the hose placement which resulted in a flooded basement and ruined carpet. Problems continued during the first year; several service calls. The problem was always the same; it did not drain/spin leaving a mess of soggy wet clothes. It died a final death - the same problem a few months after the 1-year warranty expired. The repair people have been out four times since. The last time, a $70 repair lasted less than 3 weeks for a bad shifter - always the same problem. Whirlpool will do nothing except offer to send a repair team out for a flat fee of an additional $120 with no guarantee they would fix the problem or replace the lemon. This week this Cabrio will be heading to the landfill. I've had enough. No more Whirlpool products for me ever.

Whirlpool Duet Steam Washing Machine WFW9500TW had "F35/Suds" code 14 months after we purchased the washer. Hose / air trap is clear and the hose from the analog pressure switch is connected properly. The appliance tech we had come out to look at the washer determined that the analog pressure switch was defective. He told us that this is a common problem with this washing machine. Whirlpool supervisor, Michael (female), stated that they could send a tech out - and charge us for the call - to diagnose the problem. She refused to transfer me to someone who could help and couldn't comprehend that the "it's out of warranty" excuse isn't a proper defense for a product defect. There are many posts about Analog Pressure Switch problems with this washing machine.
The posts about Whirlpool's poor customer service are absolutely accurate. They are horrible - good luck in getting them to work with you. We read the reviews for the Whirlpool Duet Steam washing machine before purchasing one and we disregarded the bad ones as disgruntled customers. Please do not make the same mistake we made. After my conversation with their customer service dept today, I will never buy another Whirlpool product again. Defective parts happen. Refusing to fix a known problem is unacceptable.

I purchased a Duet several years ago and did not have a clue as to the problems everyone was having. Over the course of ownership I called the city to determine if we had a sewer leak. I had a plumber inspect our pipes. I felt really stupid that it took me this long to figure out it was the washer. I knew it smelled like mildew and have been using vinegar, afresh, Clorox until I am blue in the face. I didn't figure out that the sewer's smell was also the same as the washer's until I got on line and read about these machines. Finally, I lifted up the gasket around the door and it was completely black with mold. No amount of afresh was going to fix this problem. Do not purchase these front loaders. Feel like they should have been recalled and I really don't understand why they are still in circulation. I have also been having health/breathing issues and I can't help but think the mold is causing my illness.

After arguing with Customer Service for a while (They insisted this must be an installation error.), I talked with the builders. They gave me a different customer service number. My second call got me a repair appointment, during which the repairman discovered that the pump was in fact dead. Because this is a new model, they didn't have a replacement on hand. So, I will have to wait an additional week and a half before the part is installed. This is a product that retails for around $1000, and it lasted less than one day. My last washer cost $400 and was still running fine when I sold it after 10 years. I can already see the handwriting on the wall. They sent this machine three times in service center but the results remained the same. The problem arose when we put some load in it. He said the gear box should be changed and the machine should be cleansed off the dirt. He offered some powder costing Rs. 1500/- to be used in washing machine.
Later, he asked Rs. 350/- for other parts after two months then I paid them again after 15 days for a piece that did not work. Then, they want to charge me Rs. 350/- again. When I showed the previous slip, they then changed that part without any cost. But after 15 days, again same problem occurred. They charged me 150/- Rs. but the problem is the same. Total money I spent is Rs. 1500/-+350/-+150/-. I also purchased a stand and cover for safety, but what will happen if product is not good? The technicians visited many times and they all said this piece is not okay but they can't do anything. The company should change this product. The machine is still rotting at my home. I'm not sure if it could be accepted to be exchanged for a new one.
Customer care gave us the satisfaction code but technician did not ask for this code. I'm really very sad that I have called around 10 complaints within two years. Why are you people not listening? You all are doing time pass. You can check my complaint codes in your records and ask your technicians about Noida. Many times, I did not note the complaints number. I bought a Cabrio three years ago. Unless you wash everything on gentle and turn items with zipper inside out, it puts holes in everything. Then exactly one week after the warranty was up, it started giving an error code. I called the company and was told this was a common error and they would send someone to look at it for $150+. It would likely be another $300-$400 for parts and labor! I had someone else (not Whirlpool) come look at it and they said it was a bad computer that I should just replace the washer, because it would cost more than it was worth.
So for two years, we have had to wait exactly 11 minutes for the washer to fault then restart it and repeat 3-6 times. It takes 2.5 hours to complete one cycle. If this is such a common error, why haven't they fixed it or recalled the piece of junk?! Because they can make a lot more money this way! Three people I know have Cabrio's and all have the same issue and all happened within a month of the warranty expiring. I am starting to think there is some sort of timer that makes it go bad just after the warranty expires on purpose. The warranty was up by then, so I used the machine by hovering over it and restarting it every time it failed. After two years of this piece of junk, we put it in storage while we worked on the road. It was brought out on 10/01/11.
I called a repairman (who came on 10/04/11) to come replace the board again. He told me that the last two times it had been replaced with the same defective board, that Whirlpool had never fixed the problem. He claimed he had the new improved board, which he replaced for about $350. Two days ago (361 days later), it went bad again. The same repair company came back and said it was the board again. I just tried chatting with a person working on the Whirlpool website. They (of course) said they would do nothing about the washer. They do not stand behind their product, obviously. Now 2 months later, we get another code on the machine and Whirlpool says, "We are sorry but there is nothing we can do, but if you would like to pay $219, we can get a repairman out there to check out the machine and repair it." They're also giving the machine an additional year warranty. Shortly after that, I noticed the lid was not staying up when I opened to put clothes in it to wash. So since I was wondering what was happening, I looked at the lid and to my surprise, the springs that hold the door up when open are built into the plastic lid cover that has a see-through glass on it. Right where the springs are located, it must be a stress point and the plastic lid has since cracked and is almost about to break off.
I am now in the process of ordering another lid and Whirlpool offered to sell me a lid for $226 but I think I shall buy it from someone else as I don't want to put any more money into Whirlpool's pockets. We paid over $1000 when we bought this machine. Now it is about 2.5 years old. I hope there is a class action lawsuit on Whirlpool as I will definitely join in if there is. From my research and reading others' reviews and issues, they pay for a serviceman to come out and still it does not solve the problem. I purchased by first Whirlpool Cabrio washer in 2007 with an extended warranty (my husband did not want me to buy). Thank goodness I did. The machine had repeated issues to the point that the service repairman and I were on first name basis. Finally, the mother board went out. The rust on the sides was excessive and of course my expensive sheets and towels were being shredded. Lowe’s extended warranty plan did honor this and replaced my machine with a new Cabrio washer (big mistake!).
The new machine; receipt for this was over $1,600.00, including the new extended warranty that ends in 2014, was bought on 3-25-09. It now requires a new drum and bearings which are being replaced today (9-19-12); however, the corrosion is just as bad and my clothes are still being shredded. Oh, also the lid no longer "locks" and to get the machine to actually run. I have to physically hold down the lid until the lid locks.
The repairman said that there is nothing he can do as the company will not repair this or replace the machine again under warranty! The joints where the lid attaches have rusted through and that is why the lid can't lock. The whole lid needs to be replaced and the company says it would cost about the same as a new machine about $690.00. What a rip-off this company is for the consumer! I will never, ever deal with Whirlpool again and I mean never, ever again! (sans Taylor Swift)!

I went online to read reviews and then called the Whirlpool Customer Service number, 1-800-253-1301 for assistance. I was thinking after reading the reviews that this should be a simple "recall" type discussion; however, I got completely the opposite! I asked if this was a common problem and the response I got was, "Well, we have had people sit on them, stand on them and fall on them, so they have broken for all kinds of reasons!" I was flabbergasted! Of course, I was then told it was out of warranty but he could sell me a new one for $219.38 plus tax plus shipping for a grand total of $261.17.
It is clear that Whirlpool does not allow their employees access to the complaint line. This must be kept top secret because the only people that know are the thousands of people that have called in to complain, and once you listen to a complaint, you are fired so you can't hear another one and figure out this is a common problem the consumers are getting screwed on! Every appliance in my house is a Whirlpool and the first to go was the washer after 11 years, which is when we bought this new set. When we have to replace the rest, dishwasher, fridge, etc., it will definitely not be Whirlpool unless they do something about known problems and help the consumer out, especially in an economy like this because bare minimum word of mouth advertising is the worst kind to have!
I will now see if someone from Whirlpool reaches out to me or not! In the meantime, I will go to Change.org and sign the petition, never again to purchase a Whirlpool product!

Today, September 17, 2012, the washer stopped working again with the same error: F24. Whirlpool will do nothing to replace the washer, even though it is less than a year old and we paid $900 for the washer.
This is the second Whirlpool we have owned that has crashed. I have two small children (4 and 2) and I am due with number 3 in 3 weeks. While the washer was broken, I spent nearly $80 at the laundromat for washing only - I carried baskets of wet laundry home to dry. And now I get to repeat the same exact struggle less than a month after it was "fixed." When asked, the customer service rep told me that no matter how many times it broke, all they would do is send a repairman. They never ever replace appliances regardless of the problem. I am unbelievably frustrated and I want to tell everyone that I possibly can to stay away from Whirlpool appliances! Do not buy them new! Their manufacturer's warranty is a joke!

54 weeks ago, I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Washer & Dryer. The first time I used the washer, it flooded my laundry room. After some grief, it was replaced with a second Duet washer some 53.5 weeks ago. Yesterday, that washer, 10 days past the 1-year warranty, failed. It gives error messages F06/E01 and won't complete a cycle. Calls to Whirlpool resulted in a refusal to acknowledge any product responsibility (out of warranty) but offers of extending the warranty for the cost of repair. I will never buy another Whirlpool product and will actively encourage any other consumer to shop elsewhere.

I purchased a Whirlpool washing machine from PC Richards in Lake Grove 15 months ago. I paid $590.00. I had to call PC Richards back because it sounded like the machine was not spinning right. The servicemen came back and said nothing was wrong. It was supposed to sound like that. Now the machine stopped draining and spinning. I went to the store and they handed me customer service numbers and said they could not help me. I contacted Whirlpool online and received a phone call from a woman that gave me a lesson on how to load the machine and put soap in it! She was a very polite woman, but, gee, that didn’t solve my problem.
After 4 days I was able to get through by phone and was told to call service. I contacted Mahler Appliance. He looked at it and said he couldn’t fix it and took a check for $81.47. He told me to call Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool again and got their service people. The gentleman came and could not figure out what was wrong. He tried a few things and said it was probably the main board. He said to call Whirlpool, but they most likely won’t give me back my money. He could charge me $460.00 for a new board per his supervisor. I just paid $590.00 for the machine and another $87.00 to some guy who took advantage. He left with an $87.00 check and I still have a broken washer. He did tighten up a loose wire he said he found and told me to try it and good luck. So I tried it. I put clothes in and turned it on.
I came back about 20 minutes later to see if it continued to run and I slipped and fell on the ceramic floor because water drained out from somewhere and went all over my floor. I have injured my back and elbow from hitting the hard floor. I also have water all over the place and finally a very broken defective washer. I am angry. I hurt myself and have spent close to $1000.00 and I still have no working washer and no way to buy another one. The washer is 15 months old. That’s brand new to me. There was obviously a problem from the beginning. Whirlpool has always had a quality name for years. I would hope that they would stand by their product and fix my washer for me. Whirlpool Cabrio washer - It's been a month now and still the washer is not fixed. The repairman through Lowe's warranty service is the worst by far I have ever dealt with. I had new transmission put on, still won't agitate and smells hot. The washer is only 18 months old, well taken care of. This expensive hunk of junk is worthless and the aggravation for all this mess is worse. I called Whirlpool 2 times. The first time, I got a call with the standard "oh so sorry" bit. Oh boy, that gets the washer fixed. Not. I blasted them and Lowe's again. I have had it with this mess. The repairman is supposed to contact Lowes a week ago for replacement. He has done zero. I called Lowe's to check. How can they sell this junk to customers who pay for this washer? They know it is junk, Lowe's and Whirlpool, so do the right thing and recall the junker for refunds to consumers.

The model and serial numbers are YWED94HEXL0/M12602088 and WFW94HEXL2/c12350046. After using them for several months, I have found that the performance of the washer and dryer to be poor. I find the clothes do not come out very clean. I used my mother-in-law’s GE washer to compare and found that the clothes came out much cleaner in her washer. I was astonished at the difference. The white clothes, especially, were so much cleaner than in my washer in which white clothes, especially, come out looking like they have not even been washed.
I am unhappy with the dryer as well, which continues to shrink my clothes a lot. I am distraught with this situation as this was a big purchase for me. I believe the quality of the washer and dryer is simply poor and I would like an exchange with a better quality set which actually cleans my clothes. I rely heavily on my washer/dryer as I have three young boys who go through a lot of clothes. Please let me know what can be done on your end. Thank you kindly.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio (WTW7800XW2) washer and drier from Lowe's. After 13 months, the plastic hinge on the washer failed, cracked, and now is completely detached. I called Whirlpool hoping for some help. New part was over $250 plus the service guy to install it (about 50% of the original cost). The worst customer service I have experienced! Eventually, I gave up as my blood was boiling (probably what they hoped I would do). I ordered the spare part from Lowe's (still has not arrived but was only $177). Last week, an extended warranty offer arrived in the mail just for the washer. I thought maybe Whirlpool have some heart after all! I bought a three-year package for $267 so we could get the lid fixed. I received an email from Whirlpool saying "You are now covered,” so called for a service visit.
I found out that although they had taken my money and told me we were covered, there was a 60-day wait period. "Why?" I asked. They said it's for administration, processing etc, but I have an email saying I am covered which is correct. After asking for supervisor, I was put on hold and then summarily disconnected! I called to cancel the appointment where I was told that existing problems are not covered so the lid ($400 +) would not be covered and the service contract I had bought ($267) is completely useless as far as I am concerned. Whirlpool is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Apparently, they have scammed another $267 out of me on top of selling faulty equipment. Our Whirlpool Duet Washer started sounding like a jet engine 13 months after purchase. We spent $800 on a washer and it started to get very loud during spin cycle. After reading several reviews online with other people describing the same problem, figured it was the bearings. $800 to do my laundry for 13 months kind of crazy right. It would have cost almost $300 for the extended warranty through Whirlpool. In order to have it repaired, the cost would be around $600 because the drum and bearings need to be replaced at this point.
Whirlpool’s customer service was no help and pretended they had never heard of this problem. However, reading reviews online tells me otherwise. I can buy a new Samsung on sale for $623, so that is the route we will probably take. We feel extremely cheated by what was once a well-known, reputable company. We will not buy Whirlpool/Maytag again until they put more emphasis on quality products with a cost efficient, longer duration warranty plan.

I called the dealer and they sent out a service person. He said that was just the way it was and he couldn't do anything. So, I keep trying to use the gentle cycle, but it was the same thing. I would have to stand by the machine and stop it after a couple of minutes so it wouldn't ruin the clothes. The more I thought about it, I decided that the repairman wasn't right.
I called Whirlpool customer service and they sent a different repair service. He also said that he couldn't do anything to make it slow down as it was programmed by a computer inside and he could not change it. I went to the dealer, Wholesale Appliances, and they said there was nothing they could do as far as giving me a refund or a discount on a better machine. I just finished a call with Sears Repair. I informed them that this was the 5th service call since purchasing this Whirlpool Cabrio washer two years ago. The washer simply does not work. It fails to complete its cycle; fails to spin; fails to drain; fails to fill; leaves clothes streaked and dirty, smelly, and dripping wet for me to wring out by hand. I purchased it because of my faith in Sears and its "Energy Saver" label. I often have to wash the same load 2 or even 3 times to get it clean; no more than 6 towels at a time. (It is a large capacity washer, but acts up most often when washing towels or jeans.)
I'm a retired teacher; and in my best "teacher voice" – calm but serious – said that I would like Sears to come and take it away, issue me a credit or refund, or I would proceed to file with the Small Claims Court. His immediate response was, "I don't appreciate the threat." I carefully (teacher voice) explained that it was not a threat... it was information. Yes, I'm angry. But more than that, I am so disappointed in Sears, a company that I have always been loyal to – no more. Time to leave childhood behind and wake up to the reality that this is not the same Sears I've dealt with for the last sixty years. Now, I’m to drive 25 miles of country roads to a Laundromat.

At some point, Whirlpool should accept the fact that they should not sell this machine. Word of mouth spreads fast! I'm hoping it will make a big dent in sales because I know then they will listen and act! I purchased it in 2006 for $800, thinking this Cabrio 6400SW is a dream, I can get more done in less time (at that time, there were seven in our family). However, problems within the first year, F1, but I was happy and still under warranty! It was fixed, only to start the problem again. This time, not under warranty! I really wish I had said yes to the extended warranty! Even the repair guy Whirlpool sent suggested it may be a good thing to get the extended warranty if I were you! I think he was trying to tell me something!
My naive thought was, why spend more money we did not have? After all, it is a new machine! I did not comprehend that any company could sell and continue to sell something that was clearly a defective machine! Nor did I entertain the thought that a company would not stand behind their product! It is now 2012, I still have the machine because we have dealt with it and have/had no extra money to throw out at it. I have dealt with F1 for several years and did not contact Whirlpool, mostly out of lack of time to research what the deal was and if others were experiencing the same. In November 2011, after reading many complaints and frustrations on the internet and what results they got, I called Whirlpool.
Using a level head, sugar sweet persona and a mindset of disbelief that Whirlpool would allow such problems, the customer service girl did her best with what she was told to reply with (meaning, there is nothing she can do). It is then that you ask to speak with a manager or director. I won in getting a repair guy out to fix the F1. They made it sound like they were doing me a onetime favor. The machine board was replaced, the repair person also thought there was an obstruction in the hose and he could fix it, but it would cost us money and suggested we try our hand at it first. We did find an obstruction and for one week, the machine was quietly working beautifully! Whirlpool even called to see about how it was working and my husband had answered that everything works well, not knowing that "Ld" is our new problem. Ld had started to pop up at the end of that week.
So here it is July and I'm so frustrated trying to get wash done. I'm thinking of all the wasted time, all the wasted electricity and energy I've spent trying to get this machine to work! My kids are trained to hit stop/pause if they hear it beeping. Some days we can't even get the clothes to spin dry. I try different cycles to get the machine to start and often have to cancel the cycle and change it to another cycle to get the machine to continue. Is there a smell? Yes, and I run the "clean washer" cycle twice in a row just about every other week now. That doesn't even seem to clean the washer anymore! Tangled clothes sometimes. Ld always, uL sometimes and a sound like it is trying to do something but is stuck. Lots of laundry to do! No money to fix it!
Whirlpool needs to stop selling an inferior machine! I know one thing. Never Whirlpool again and I tell everyone not to go with Whirlpool Cabrio. Even one of my co-workers had one and bought a new washer (not Whirlpool) because of problems with her Cabrio only after three years! Do not purchase a Cabrio!

I’m speaking with repair technicians and researching complaints on this product. It appears to be a design defect that is not being addressed by the manufacturer.

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer less than 2 years ago. These are supposed to be high efficiency appliances, but the washer has never cleaned the clothes well and the dryer often has to be run more than once in order to get the clothes dry. Then, about two weeks ago, the washer started making such a loud noise on the spin cycle that it sounded like a jet plane taking off. It was hard to hear the television when it was running. Today, it started screeching and water leaked on the floor. I called the number listed on my manual and was basically told that it would cost half of what we had paid for the machine to fix it. What efficiency, a poor machine that lasts less than two years. We will never buy Whirlpool appliances again.

We bought a Whirlpool front load about six years ago. We have had nothing but trouble with since we have owned it. First, the sensors went out on it. We had to pay over $300 to have that fixed. Then, it wouldn't run right. We had to pay another charge for that. Now they tell me the water valve is bad on it. If I had known at the time the problems I was going to experience with this washer, I would never have bought it. I fell for the price. We paid for it. We should be getting better service from it than we are. I could have bought 6 regular washers for what I paid for this one that doesn't perform like it should.

I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer about 5 years ago. I wanted to pay for a good pair to last a long time for the money. We have had a repair man out twice for the washer. They ended up replacing the computer board. It worked fine for a few years. Now, it keeps getting the unbalanced error code for almost every load of clothes that we start. Sometimes, it takes 20-30 minutes of rearranging the clothes to get it to finally work. I have had to manually set it to finish the loads on a number of occasions. It is so time consuming to do laundry due to having to "play" with the clothes to get the loads to finish. Plus, I don't know how many times it has woken up my grandkids because of the loud thumping noise it makes when it gets unbalanced. I have never had a washer do this. I would expect when you pay big bucks for an appliance that it should last a long long time. One usually gets what they pay for. I should have bought a cheaper pair. Then, they probably would have lasted 15 to 20 years.

We purchased the largest Whirlpool Cabrio Washer (over $1100 value) 3.5 years ago, and had nothing but trouble out of it. The drum has had to be replaced twice, the motor once, and then supposedly a bolt kept coming off on the drum as well, that had to be "tightened" twice. Now, we don't know what is wrong with it - we suspect suspension imbalance or something, because this "extra large capacity" washer is constantly "unbalanced" even with 6 articles of fabric in it now, and I don't even think about putting even what would be considered a medium-large load in it, because it flat up will not wash.
You can put a level on it, and it shows leveled, but it still won't operate worth anything. My wife is so put out by it at this point that she has even talked about getting an old ringer washer (seriously). Sears keeps coming out here because we had purchased the extended warranty and truly if they had simply replaced the washer after the 2nd trip to the house, they would have more than paid for the replacement washer even. Instead, they keep coming, looking at it, then having to "order parts," and then come back a couple weeks later to put the shipped parts (which sit around our house), back in to repair it each time.
All the while, we go without a washer or barely can wash any clothes. We have even taken clothes to the laundromat during one of the repair instances, because we can't just have mounds of clothes piled up for their month-long service. It is ridiculous how little it seems that Sears and Whirlpool care about their customers. I have gone to Whirlpool and Sears Home Services sites and complained at both. I have called both of their 800 lines in the past and again, this yielded nothing to truly depict either company cares. It just goes to prove that customer satisfaction is far less valuable to either of these companies than the bottom dollar profits in our opinion. I don't know where else to post our concerns/frustrations, so anyone can see how put out these two companies have caused us and don't care, but if anyone knows of anywhere else I can post blogged concerns, please let me know.
I have complained previously about a dishwasher that we had purchased that we had numerous issues with. Those complaints fell on deaf ears to Whirlpool and really Sears as well. I don't think all the washers are duds, but this one has been nothing but trouble, and Sears won't just replace it, Whirlpool don't care. I have been given the runaround that it is because there aren't three (3) service calls in a 12-month period for the exact same issue. Well, I am sorry that it doesn't appear to be just one thing! I have had it with these services calls, parts having to be ordered, only to hit the crazy repeat button again every time! This is far from good customer service, in my opinion, but rather a way to ensure the most profit is achieved! Thanks.

We bought this Whirlpool Cabrio washer 2 years ago and have hated it since the first load. It does not clean clothes, and the so-called large capacity will barely clean 5 regular towels. And if you wash diapers, do not buy this washer. If a load is really dirty, you have to wash it 2 or 3 times for clothes to be clean. Then, there is the awful mildewy, moldy smell after a few washes. How can a washer that gets so bacteria-laden be allowed to be sold on the market. I've been washing laundry for 45 years, and I've never had this kind of wash-related problems. This washer is an overpriced nightmare. I cannot wait until I can save enough to replace it. And I am watching and hoping a class action suit comes out to force Whirlpool to take these washers back, refund the money spent, and apologize to all the people who purchased one.

I paid close to 2 grand for this set and after 2 years, there should not be issues like this. I did not purchase an extended warranty. I decided to research this issue before calling a repair service out or calling Whirlpool today. I am sitting here sick to my stomach after reading pages on end concerning the same problem over and over again on this website. I agree that a class action suit needs to be started. I am not going to waste my time or money on a repair service. I will be contacting Morgan and Morgan For The People today and find out if a class action suit can be started. If anyone would care to join me, please feel free to contact me. I am also going to start a petition on Change.org. Please check that site to sign the petition as of 6/30/2012 or within a few days after. After owning the Cabrio washing machine (WTW5700XW, purchase price $629) for approximately 18 months, it began stalling at the spin cycle, leaving the clothes sopping wet. We found we had to unplug the machine to "reboot" the computer, and then we were able to manually choose the drain and spin cycle to complete the cycle. Before beginning a new wash cycle, we have to unplug to "reboot" again, or it sticks in a perpetual pump cycle.
I scheduled a repair appointment from the Whirlpool automated service system. The repair man determined the computer control panel has to be replaced. Diagnostic service call was $136, repair est, $321.67, repair service call, $60-130. Total repair cost on an 18-month old machine was $520+. I declined the repair in hope of getting extended warranty coverage from Whirlpool. I purchased a Whirlpool Duet set and at the time it was about $2600 for the set. They are about 4 years old and my power button failed. After researching for a replacement part, I found out they do not make a replacement part after they quit making them for being faulty. They now have a redesigned part that replaces both the left and right control board and is quite expensive. I will not be purchasing Whirlpool products in the future. Here is a copy of the email I received from the repair parts company: "The new part (kit) that replaces part# W10110658 is part# W10294708. This kit replaces both the center and the right control boards on that machine and is the only part available per WPL. It is pricey. $276.50 is our best price on that and it would be 7-10 to get directly from WPL. Let me know which direction you would like us to proceed. I can apply what you have already paid towards purchasing that new part, or I can refund you the total amount. Thanks again."
I really feel Whirlpool should stand behind their products and offer some sort of discount for replacing their faulty product designs. Well, no good news from Whirlpool. Just like the hundreds of others I have been reading, I bought the "top of the line" Cabrio set with a five-year extended warranty. The dryer has been fine, but the washing machine has been basically rebuilt 5 or 6 times and at least two dozen repairs were made. We are on a first name basis with all of the technicians. This final repair is coming out of our pocket as the warranty expired. It will be the last one. We could buy a basic machine for the cost of this control panel. We seriously considered it - and should have based on what I am reading. I guess that is why they changed their parts warranty from a year to three months. So, I'll be saving money to buy a new machine in 3 months as I have absolutely no faith in Whirlpool's products anymore. It's very sad that we as consumers are getting ripped off and they are getting away with it. Actually, it's criminal. Don't buy the Cabrio - run away!

Ironically the switch is still under warranty but they will not replace it unless a serviceman comes to confirm that the switch is dead again. This is because 2 have already been returned to them. Obviously, there is a problem with the switch. The company will do nothing. They used the excuse that I did not purchase an extended warranty. This is merely an excuse. It has now popped up and is broken so bad that it can barely be used without replacing it. I called Lowe's, where it was purchased, to quickly be told that there was nothing they could do because it is out of the year's warranty. This is just such a copy out to have an excuse, so that they would not even offer any assistance. Also, I paid $2,000.00 for the set; I bought the dryer as well. I just could not imagine an expensive machine like this having such a problem. Prior to buying this machine, I had my washer for 10 years. It has no problem; it was just time to buy a newer model, so I thought!
After the store (Lowe's) would not help, I decided to call Whirlpool; and the woman I spoke with was even less help. Andrea said there was nothing they could do since it was outside the year of manufacturer's warranty. She seemed glad to have this as an excuse. I told her this is too much money to have something like this to happen. I told her it is obvious the door was defective. She said again sorry but that there's nothing she could do. She did offer to sell me a warranty for a year for $327.52. This was too expensive. I asked her what else could she do, and she told me nothing. I asked how much the door was, and she told me $212.00. I feel like I have been royally and deliberately ripped off, and Whirlpool knows it. I say to anyone reading this to please be aware if you are purchasing this product. You will most likely be sorry you invested all this money for it. Then, it started to not start at all on certain cycles or would start to pump water in and then stop suddenly. I had a repair man in today, and it was not good news. He told me that he sees this a lot, especially with the Whirlpool washers and it is costly. The bearings are shot and will cost close to $500 for parts (alone), not costing the price to have it repaired.
So now, I have called Whirlpool. The people there are very friendly and sympathetic. But even though I went as high as the supervisor (the highest authority I could speak to), he told me my washer is not on the recall list! I asked what it took to get it on one. Basically, my complaint was filed and end of story. Well, not quite. The supervisor was kind enough to give me the address for the Head Office for Whirlpool Canada.
So people, start writing into this address and bombard them with your frustration: Whirlpool Executive Office, 200-6750 Century Avenue, Mississippi, Ontario L5N 0B7. If you have spoken to Whirlpool, ask for your reference number pertaining to your case and include it in your letter along with your phone number.
