We purchased a SF368LEPQO Whirlpool range 3 years ago for our new home. It always had to try to light more then once when we would use the oven. After Thanksgiving, we could not get the oven to come on at all. We had a service company come out and we were told we would need a relight kit. He also said Whirlpool had a problem with the burner lighting and not staying lit. So they have this kit to make it keep trying until it stays on. After a week or two the service man returned and installed it. It does work, BUT now it tries between 4 to 8 times before starting to heat. I feel very uncomfortable and it's a bit scary that you keep hearing the oven trying to light over and over again. After all this is gas were talking about

We installed a WHIRLPOOL GOLD gas slide in range in our BRAND NEW kitchen in Sept of 2006 and began using the product in October 2006. By march of 2007 (5 months) I noticed the enamel was peeling off the cook top. We had Sears come out and replace it and then again in July the same thing happened and in the same spot. They replaced cooktop number 2 in late August and within 90 days cooktop number 3 is doing the same thing. I have contacted WHIRLPOOL and they said they will give me 15 percent off on the parts. Why would I want another part when the same thing will most likely happen again? Four cooktops in 15 months is unacceptable. Whirlpool has said that is their BEST offer.
Every time we replace the cooktop my husband has had to pull this bad range out of the space in the counter. This results in damage to our new countertops and possible damage to our new flooring as well. I have spent HOURS on the phone with whirlpool. I have faxed them photos and letters and they don't even take the time to return a call.

I purchased a Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) gas slide-in convection range and within the first 6 months, the door locked when I was cleaning the control panel and required replacing. This was under warranty. Now it is 3 years later and it has done it again. The door has locked accidently and won't release. I also happened to buy a front load washer (whirlpool) in Nov 06 and Dec 07 the washer quit mid cycle with the door locked. The door lock needed to be replaced, a $200 repair, but after much persistence, Sears paid the bill. I believe there is a defect in the door locking mechanisms of these appliances. When I questioned the Sears sales people, they denied hearing of any problems in spite of the fact I happen to have 2 appliances with the same problem. The only thing they want to know is if you bought the extended warranty, which I don't think one should have to buy to have a reliable product.

The interior light on my over-range microwave went out a few days ago. I looked inside the cabinet to find no access panel or light lens I could remove to install a new bulb. I went online to find instructions, none seem to be available for microwaves due to stored energy possibly causing electrocution to the unsavvy DIYer. I did call Whirlpool Corp. and spoke to 4 persons, explaining to each my situation and each referred me to the next person. The last person I spoke with was Brenda. She told me this unit would need to be serviced by an appliance repair technician, it is not serviceable by the customer. I called a service company to find out the charge for replacing a light bulb would be $95.00 per hour (not sure how long it may take) plus the service call plus parts. It seems the design and engineering are faulty to require this kind of excess. If I were to follow the same logic, why is it possible for me to remove/install the light lens on the underside in order to replace dead bulbs as I have done in the past? There are wires and sharp edges that can surely cut your fingers, why allow this? I haven't spoken or written to any others about this situation yet. I will try to give Whirlpool Corp. an opportunity to consider my dismay. If it comes down to replacing the microwave for such a minor issue, I may replace the dishwasher (Whirlpool) with a brand other than any of Whirlpools products and it's many brand names.

I bought a Whirlpool gas Range in November 2003 for our Kitchen re-model. We purchased the range at Lowes in Ranch Santa Margarita, Ca. The re-model took about 60 days. So really I used the range or oven for the first time that Easter. We are not a family that cooks at home so most of our cooking is on the stove top or microwave oven. In June of 2006 I needed to have the control panel replaced. Code E2-F1. This drove me crazy. It controls the oven temperture. You never know if your food is cooking or not.
Last August, 2007, I discoved a wonderful place called Super suppers. This allowed me to make and cook at home. So I have been using the oven around twice a week and cooking for my family. This Christmas time my control panel when out again. Same code E2-F1. I called the company and they said that since I didn't pay for the extended warrenty that I would have to pay for another service call and replacement part. My neighbors know how much I cook and they can't believe that my oven is broken again. I had to cook my Christmas dinner for my family and extended family at my next door neighbor's house. The Model # SF379LEKS Seriel # RP2718496. I can't believe that Whirlpool would not stand behind their product. I thought that we were buying a respectable brand. Times have changed. It's hard to find an appliance that will last more than 5 years I guess. Thank you for your help.

I bought a Whirlpool gold accubake range 2 1/2 yrs ago for $1200.00. 6 months after we bought it it wouldn't light. We had service come out and replace the igniter. It still did it and also shut off by itself. Everything that could be replaced was. The last straw was on Christmas when the temp went up to almost 500 while on 350. This is the 2nd time. I spoke to Whirlpool twice and all they told me was they were sorry I was unhappy with their product. This is a fire hazard. I now have to spend more money to purchase a new stove and as I stated everything is new, the comp board, ignitor, sensor, etc. I feel I should be compensated in some way
It is a financial hardship as within 2 1/2 years it has cost me $1200.00 plus the cost of a new range ($900.00) plus the mental anguish of dealing with these people.

Don't buy a Whirlpool Gas Range. Our model SF379LEKT0 has defective materials as far as the control panel goes. Oven wouldn't start, thus creating a gas smell. Husband replaced control panel ($151.00). Easy to install and the repair services want $750.00 or more. As of today, 12/22/07, again oven won't start, and I hardly use the oven. The control panel controls everything, we were told. Another thing I hate about the stove is: the front gas controls can easily be turned on just by leaning against them. We commenced to smell gas and find them slightly turned on. This has happened more than once. We are very conscious about turning them off, too. We are dumping the Whirlpool and getting a different range tomorrow.

I purchased a g2Microven (Model #GH6178XPS-0) in late 2005 as part of my kitchen remodel. It is a combination microwave/grill oven. While the inside works just fine, the outside is so cheesy that I decided to replace it next year with anything else. Here is a list of my complaints:
1. Plastic cracking/splitting at various spots for no reason
2. Stainless paint rubbed off during normal cleaning, revealing white plastic beneath
3. Handle broke off when opening earlier this year. It costs $69 to replace (part only). The new one just broke off again. I hope Gorilla Glue works.
4. Lightbulbs go out regularly and are difficult to replace.
Here is my issue: I'm a 55-year-old woman who lives alone. My grandchildren live in California, and therefore, cannot cause damage to my stuff. This microwave has been falling apart on its own with less than normal use. Why is this $700 appliance cracking when it's barely being used? I contacted Whirlpool several months ago and never heard a thing from them. I just tried emailing them when the handle broke off again, we'll see what happens.

I contacted Whirlpool 11/30/2007 in reference to Side by side Refrigerator Model# GD5SHALQ02 not working. Whirlpool scheduled an appointment with Appliance Care Inc. because they do their warranty work. The Repair Tech came 4 Dec 2007 and stated to my wife that this is an easy fix. My wife ask the Repair person if they could wait for me that I was on the way home and would be their in about 10 minutes. I had the proper tool to clean up the burned pin on the compressor. Because the compressor was still under warranty I did not want to attempt to repair it (Void Warranty). The repair tech looked at the fridge, went to his truck and got some tools, and cut off the burned pin coming out of the compressor. The pin was 3/8 of an inch long. When he cut the pin off there was less than 3/16 of an inch left. He replaced the start relay with the old capacitor that was burned on one side. The fridge started working. He told the wife it would cool down in 24 hours. She once again asked if he would wait until I spoke with him; once again he declined. I arrived home in time to see his truck leaving.
When I went into the house you could smell the relay burning, and the fridge was cutting on and off. When I looked at the compressor you could see the arcing between the start relay and compressor. After removing the start relay which already showed signs of burning, I saw that he had cut the pin off. He never put the ground back on the compressor or the clip that holds the start relay to the compressor. By cutting off the pin so short he created a high resistance connection that could have caused a fire.
Around 11 a.m. I called Appliance Care, Inc. and requested to speak to the owner. I informed them what the repair person had done. They told me the owner wound call me right back. About 5PM I called back and was told the same thing. Finally the wife of the owner called and wanted to know if the fridge was working. Once again I informed her to what the repair person had done. She said they would order a new compressor. I am still waiting for them to call about the compressor. I believe the compressor could have been repaired if a competent repair person had been sent. The action he took damaged the compressor beyond repair. If I don`t hear from Appliance Care by Friday (12/21/07) (16 days), I will call Whirpool to report this damage caused by their Tech.
I have not had a fridge since 4 Dec 2007. I don`t know the dollar figure for lost food. I would have been happy if the fridge had been fixed. I feel this company provides very unprofessional repair service. Look Out.

I own 4 major appliances manufactured by Whirlpool in 1999 - 2000. Three suffered defects after the warranty expired when the appliances were less than 5 years old. Two had paint problems. The oven control panel failed - $200. Paint is peeling from the refrigerator and the cooktop. I have discussed this with paint experts and the top coat is separating from the primer. This is a (hidden) factory defect due to errors made while painting during the manufacturing process. The plastic cover for the crushed/cubed selector switch has also failed. Whirlpool refuses to help.
The oven failure cost $200. My wife is insisting that the refrigerator be painted for $300 or replaced $1500. I believe there was a general lack of quality and Whirlpool should stand behind their products.

Our Whirlpool Gold Accubake Range model GY396LX was in need of cleaning, so we pushed the self-clean button. We went to cook dinner, and the touchpad would not operate. This is the second time that a two-year-old oven has failed. The first time was at 10 monthsand still under warranty, the touchpad was replaced, parts & labor. The new touchpad has functioned well for over a year. The official Whirlpool repairman, who says this is a common problem, states that the high heat from the self cleaning operation fried the touchpad. It costs several hundred dollars to fix.
I contacted Whirlpool thinking that if this was a common problem, they might pay for the touchpad. I am willing to pay for the service call and the labor. They are sorry, but they can do nothing. This is not acceptable I tell them, what about honoring the Whirlpool Gold name? We are sorry, we can do nothing about it. Even their own representative tells me, When you fix this, never use the self cleaning operation. Remove the door and manually clean everything. So, this is how an $1,100 oven is to operate? The touchpad goes out once every year, and Whirlpool will do nothing. So, bottom line, avoid this model!

We purchase all our appliances at Sears for our kitchen remodel. Spending over $1100 on a range was a first for us, but the Whirlpool Gold range model GW395LEPB02 fit my needs exactly and I figured that Whirlpool is a quality brand. They really pushed us to get us to buy an extended warrantee but I've never had a problem with a stove, and at this price, it should last forever right?
Before the year was up, I started getting mail nearly daily offering me extended warrantees on the range, and the Maytag dishwasher and the Jenn-Aire fridge. After about 13 months of use, and having used the oven perhaps 10 to 12 times at the most, the electronic touch pad became inoperable. I called Whirlpool and their tech support seemed very familiar with this problem, and gave me an appt for service. I called A&E myself just to be certain that they knew the details of the problem, and when the service man came, he touched one of the 'buttons' on the touch pad and informed us that it needed to be replaced. $65 for a service call, and over $200 for the new touch pad.

My wife and I purchased an upgrade Whirlpool Range from Sears in Jan. 2003. The 'New' range has a defect on the range's glass door on the outside. The part is called trim but in reality it is a bracket supporting the 29 X 20 glass front on the door. This 29 bracket has totally rusted so badly that the paint chipped off revealing the strip of rust. This doesn't look nice nor is it right. In all my years as an appliance purchaser (60+) never had a stove that had rust.

We built a new home w/ ALL new appliance from Whirlpool in Dec 2005. Six mos after living here our range a Whirlpool Gold began giving us problems. Model GW395LEPS03. It raised the temp on its own burning a roast in less than 30 min. Repairs took about 2wks. Then in Oct 2006 the oven would not heat, repair took 2wks again and malfunctioned the following wk. Repaired again and caught on fire the day before Thanksgiving 2006. This range was still under warranty.
During this time, I became extremely frustrated and demanded a new oven. Only after it caught fire did they agree to replace it. Then it took 4wks to get a new one. All total for 2006 I was without an oven for 2.5-3mos. Fast forward to now May 2007. The new range is malfunctioning.
On April 3, 2007 I was heating soup on top of the stove and spilled a tablespoon of liquid and it dripped on the front of the stove down onto the keypad. This caused the oven not to work. None of the buttons work. I called whirlpool due to the range still being under warranty and a repairman was sent out to diagnose the problem. He discovered that the keypad would need replacing, which as of now is on back order. I contacted Whirlpool customer service today, May 4, 2007 and was told this part is back ordered and they do not know when it will be available and there is nothing that can be done.

We purchased an electric Whirlpool built-in oven in 2001. Five years later, it periodically will switch to clean, locking and burning whatever is in the oven!
We have not discovered a way to shut it off other than turning off the circuit breaker. Normally, products are designed to fail in a safe mode. I do not consider an oven turning itself on to the highest temperature possible for a couple hours before it turns itself off as failing safe.
We have a friend that has had the same problem. After four visits by a repairman with a different part replaced each time, they are still having the same problem.

I purchased a Whirlpool gas range (model SF387LEKB) in June of 2002 from Sears. In March of 2003 I had a problem with the regulator. A repair technician from Sears came out, diagnosed the problem, and replaced the regulator. No problems until November of 2005. There appeared to be no gas flowing to the oven, and therefore it would not ignite. The top burners worked fine.
Again, a repair technician from Sears came out but could not pinpoint the problem, and so he suggested the control panel needed to be replaced, since it controlled the flow of gas to the oven. He said the cost of a new control panel would be $750, which is close to the cost of the range itself. I bought a Whirlpool self cleaning electric range model # RF364PXK about 5 years ago from Rent a Center in East Greenbush New York..Today, I slammed my hand down on the stovetop and it shattered! I am a small woman, so the force was not that powerful.. The only thing I can think of is after using the stove top for awhile the tempered glass weakened and this is a defective stove top.
I wanted to complain about this because if I had not had a cloth cover over the stove at the time, I would have gotten badly cut by this supposedly 'UNBREAKABLE" glass stovetop..Since my 12 year old grandaughter uses this same stove, it could have just as well happened to her by putting a full pan of water on the burner part... Then I would have her in the hospital getting stitches.
I called Whirlpool at 1-800-253-1301 and I was told that it was not a warranty issue as I hit the stove which is not considered normal use.. I told the woman that IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, that tempered glass that is said to be unbreakable, should not have been able to be broken like this by my hand.. What if a gallon pan of water was accidentally dropped by a slip of the hand??? Either way, the glass should not break!!! ANYONE USING THE STOVE AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN THE SURFACE IS BEING REPEATEDLY HEATED AND COOLED FOR YEARS COULD GET BADLY INJURED!!!
