Think twice before buying Whirlpool appliances. In our experience, quality and durability are a real issue. Here is our story. 5 years ago we built a winter vacation home. We bought brand new Whirlpool appliances from a reputable vendor at full price. Washer, dryer, double oven, and refrigerator. The washer arrived damaged. The damage was a button that was depressed and could not be released. This was brand new washer, never used, but Whirlpool insisted that we had caused the damage. It was only after the vendor's tech got involved that Whirlpool relented and sent a repair tech.
Next, the bottom oven door came apart in my hands after just days of use. I had to fight (yes fight and argue!) with Whirlpool customer service to send a repair tech. Finally after much arguing Whirlpool sent a tech and the oven door was repaired. The tech told us that this was a common defect! (Shame on you Whirlpool!) So why you might ask, why am I complaining? Well this is a vacation home. We are here 3 months a year (times 4 years = 1 year of very light use) and today the oven door came apart in my hands again. That makes twice in 12 months of light use. Frankly, this is shameful! I do not understand how this company gets away with it!
I am disgusted with Whirlpool crap quality and crap customer service and I want everyone to know what they can expect when buying Whirlpool. I suggest you check all available reviews before placing your order for anything from Whirlpool. As for this new oven door repair? I'll report again after talking with Whirlpool but I expect to be told "Sorry sucker, the warranty is over"! Buyer beware!

First I'd like to start by saying anyone whom owns Whirlpool make sure to purchase every extra Warranty you can get your hands on right away. Two years ago my husband and I purchased the whole Whirlpool Appliance Kitchen Collection. The gas oven range has been my only real issue. Within a few months my oven wouldn't light. It's a good thing I noticed because there are no safety features that turn the gas off if it doesn't fire up and the gas builds up so so fast it's scary.
Our Warranty covered the broken igniter switch only for it to act up for over a year. We had to try several times before the oven would light until it just didn't again and it was repaired again under Warranty. Aqua Lift Technology is just something they made up to get us all to purchase it. I swear on my life it doesn't even work a tiny bit. Now, the bottom of my $800 oven is chipping away. I have not worked this out with them yet and I will repost to let others know how it works out. Liquid also gets in between glass oven door, can't ever clean it. Good luck.

I am so disappointed, angry and tired! Unfortunately, I listened to the salesperson regarding this feature and bought it hook, line and sinker! The Aqualift self clean system is a joke! It only cleans the bottom of the oven and that is after you mop up the water left in the bottom and scrub it. No amount of scrubbing even touches the sides, back or window, even after using the Aqualift feature 3 times! I spent hundreds of dollars only to be down on my hands and knees scrubbing to no avail. I have not seen 1 good review regarding this system. Shame on me for believing a salesperson and shame on me for not researching first. I will not make this mistake again!

Whirlpool Slide-In "AquaClean Technology" - My beautiful, modern oven is no longer. After 4 tries doing self-cleaning my oven was still dirty. I did have to wipe out the water (although I measured it) before I could take the "scraper/sponge" provided by Whirlpool to "assist" in the cleaning. Scraper bent - sponge disintegrated and I still have a dirty oven. Called "service". My pleasant service tech informed me the water is only to reach 250 degrees! Really! My dinosaur of a Whirlpool cleaned fabulously! New technology has turned mine into an "on your knees, scraping and "broiling" fool. "Fool" because I bought into the whole "Aqualift Technology". We cannot use any kind of liner, etc. This slide-in may look great but the labor required to keep it that way is beyond this OCD person! So much for my "efficient" new kitchen. May the engineers who designed this technology be ashamed of this product. It is not even a "self-steam" cleaner!

My brother bought my 80-year-old mom this range so that she could bake all her delicious desserts with ease in a new beautiful oven. I was at her house visiting and saw that she was down on her hands and knees cleaning her "SELF-CLEANING OVEN". She tried several times using the useless "AQUALIFT FEATURE" but to no avail. In this day and age with self-cleaning technology, WHY would Whirlpool install this unbelievable bad AQUALIFT cleaning feature? To see my poor mother scrubbing the inside of the oven like she did back in the 50's & 60's just completely appalling!! PLUS the top surface enamel is bubbling up with rust and the oven is only 2-3 years old. So we are trying to contact Best Buy to see if we can get a refund on this HORRIBLE appliance.

Atlanta Gas Light Company showed up at my door Saturday Jan 16, 2016 citing they needed to do maintenance on our meter. 20 minutes later, he came in and said we had a leak. He checked all of the furnaces and water heater, then zeroed in on my brand new Whirlpool Range (purchased 11/11/15) indicating it had a faulty control valve. This faulty and dangerous range was sold to me by Lowe's and manufactured by Whirlpool and we had unknowingly been living with a gas leak for 2 1/2 months! It's notable that Atlanta Gas Light sends our contractors only every 3 years to test for gas leaks. I shudder to think what would have happened had they not done this. I'll never buy another Whirlpool anything. Model Number: WFG320M0BB0.

I thought the new AquaLift cleaning would be the greatest. Boy, was I disappointed -- no thoroughly disgusted and very angry -- when I tried to use the self cleaning oven. I had cooked a prime rib roast and a lot of grease had spattered inside the oven. I wiped away the excess and did a cleaning cycle -- what a joke! There was still grease running down the door and walls. Nothing was changed after two cleaning cycles. Now I have to crawl inside the oven and scrub it manually. I was always pleased with the old self cleaning ovens which only left some ash and a little bit to clean up. The AquaLift technology doesn't work at all, didn't Whirlpool test it prior to selling it to the public? They will surely lose my business and I hope a lot of other people's business as well. This technology was a huge mistake!!

We moved into our new condo a few months ago and my wife noticed that the knobs and front of our new Whirlpool Stove were getting too hot to touch so we called Whirlpool and since then never used stove. Was over one year old, we had to call their factor service representative. The charge was $98 plus labor $90 to tell us that even though the surfaces were way too hot to touch and dangerous to touch they were still within the factory specs of 167 degrees for the knobs, 152 degrees for the drawer, and 172 degrees for the front glass. He found the front of the unit reached 152 degrees which was hot enough to cause a serious burn when the stove was only set to 400 degrees. Why would a company set specs that will cause serious injuries? If my wife or grandchildren get burned by this crappy stove Whirlpool will be hearing from my lawyer. Stay away from any Aquaclean Whirlpool stove.

Whirlpool gold series gas oven with Aqua Lift. Very unhappy with this oven. Cons: Aqua Lift technology doesn't work AT ALL (manual cleaning required); stove top hard to clean; 2 front gas burners are "super" burners which is fine for boiling water, but too hot for regular cooking. Would be better to have one super burner in the middle or back but two up front is way too hot for regular cooking, even on lowest setting; oven cuts out while cooking -- unexplainable how this happens but you really have to watch the oven while cooking to make sure it's still on. Pros: large oven so you can cook ginormous turkeys or prime ribs.

My Whirlpool GBD307PDS7 has died 4 times, and out of warranty. Every time we use the self-clean option, the damn thing has quit working- it burns up the controller board. Getting service is a joke. One person or company has to come and pull the unit out, check the connection, then disconnect it so the damn service agent will work on it. Then they open the top up and determine the PCB primary controller board is bad, and then order one. When a new board is put back in then the unit reassembled, then I have the ** service agent come and connect it. Then we see the board works, oven works- and I am out $400+ bucks. So the first time I yell at my wife whom I accuse of doing something wrong. The second time I watch, and she is correct- nothing she can do wrong. So now we have a 100-pound paperweight that is mounted in the cabinets of my kitchen. I am almost out of $1,000 for 2 repairs.
Now this happens a third time. I am lucky and a guy just 3 miles from me is selling his oven. So we buy it from him, only ($100 bucks)... What a deal. We install the board out of the working oven into the one in our kitchen. Viola! The oven when we energize the circuit, not only shows a PF on the display, it works. We are just ecstatic until we turn on the oven to use, it goes through all the paces, then does not get hot. Extreme bummer for us. My wife says, "Try the bottom oven" and it works! So we have one oven only, no convection, have to stoop down to use it, and we have put out a lot of money. I decide to explore this on the internet for repair, and I discover that there is a whole "INDUSTRY" built around repairing the PCB controller board for this series of ovens. Then I discover hundreds of complaints revolving around the same issue we are having.
What blows me away is that an oven selling for almost 4 grand, has a well-documented track record of committing Hara-Kiri when you choose the self-clean option. Even worse is that I find that Whirlpool has blown this off, and at most has offered a couple customers, a discount of 10% if they buy a new oven. WTF. Are you kidding me? Who wants to buy another piece of equipment from a manufacturer who when they know have manufactured a lemon, will not help the customer. Even worse when I got on the live chat for help, the live chat agent "Lauren **" who was in Malaysia, asked me for additional personal information above and beyond what the Whirlpool oem chat site asked for to get help. I complained and she said, "No info, no help."
When I gave her the info, she in blazing lightning speed replied, "I cannot help you, schedule a service call." I am not stupid, maybe a little naive, but now I think this agent might really be an agent, for ISIS or ISIL- getting Americans personal info. Don't believe me- I have the chat session. So either she is selling this info, or is an agent for ISIS. Either way- the live chat is a farce and whirlpool when I called them 3 times today, after I was on the line for almost 20 minutes- disconnected me. So I am pretty upset with Whirlpool for not only selling a piece of equipment that is faulty out of the carton, won't lift a finger to help and also investigate the chat agent outsourced in Malaysia, who seems to be a terrorist in USA website. What a genuine farce, hassle, and now, either my info sold, or being used for purposes other than what a customer is led to believe. Sure, don't think Whirlpool will help, and they don't give a bowel movement outcome.

Within 10 days of installing our new Electric range the cooktop does not look new and although we have used the prescribed cleaning methods, will not remove some cooked on spills over one burner and another burner has white rings around the glass above the dual zone cooking element. While we did not choose the top-of-line model; had expected much greater durability and appearance for our new range. My call into Whirlpool service made me feel like mine was an extremely isolated case and yet nothing would be covered as would be classified as customer fault. Bought a Whirlpool Range with AquaLift Technology on the advice of the sales associate from Home Depot. Bottom line AquaLift technology doesn't work. Like all the other unhappy consumers on this website, we are extremely dissatisfied with the technology. I finally got in touch with Whirlpool after 4 emails and posting on Facebook. It seems that they respond when you post on social media. I was requesting a replacement oven with conventional self-cleaning, and I was informed that because the technician reported that the oven was functioning correctly, that they would not give me a replacement. Their reason being that a continually dirty oven had nothing to do with function but was a cosmetic issue. The CS rep was "kind" enough to offer me a bottle of the Affresh cleaner. Don't fall for the AquaLift hype.

Next time I cleaned the oven for multiple spills, (a year later) it cracked again, giving the bottom a shattered look where the spills were. I only cleaned it once and the bottom is ruined. I don't expect Whirlpool to stand behind this, but I agree these Convection Ovens require a Class Action Suit because they are selling faulty merchandise. Period.

I purchased the extended warranty plan through Assurant and, fortunately, have not had to pay a dime for these repairs, but I should not need to keep repairing the same parts continuously. Either the replacement parts are bad or the service technician is terrible and doesn't know what he's doing or Whirlpool makes such poor products that they are not meant to last. There is NO lemon law for appliances and the decision to replace appliances is the decision of the Assurant Warranty Co & they won' t replace it and even if they did it would be with a used refurbished gas range. One hour into the process the oven shuts off, no longer has power, and the oven door is locked and will not open. Called Whirlpool (talked to 2 levels of customer service), they wanted me to buy a $200+ warranty for another year of coverage!
Researched online and talked to the parts people and this is a KNOWN defect. It happens frequently when using the self-clean feature. It requires replacing the Thermal Overload Safety Thermostat which costs $45 with shipping for the part. The service call is over $100 PLUS labor which can run even more. There are YouTube videos that show how to replace this fuse. The parts lady recommended NOT using the self-cleaning for this oven. Buyer beware. I called and requested another company to come out and check it. No one called back. I called again and they sent out the same repair guy. Apparently he's the only one in the whole Charlotte metro area that can service Whirlpool. Again he said I had to use it more. I called again and requested a different repair person to come out.
They promised to send out a lead. When the company called to confirm the appointment they said no one told them that. They finally sent out a different person. That person said "absolutely the door was dented." He offered to replace the door. He then came back and said the door comes in too many pieces and he didn't want to put it together so I should contact the store I bought it from and see if they would replace it.
Whirlpool refused to repair it. I was able to get the store to replace it after explaining to them the problems with the warranty service. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they lied and said they tried to contact me which never happened. When I called the executive office I was told that I was the problem and that it was resolved so leave them alone. I regret my purchase of my appliances and now have no one to stand by the warranty.

In 2013 my oven died. Upon doing some research my husband and I went to our local appliance stores in search of a new one for a good deal. We chose a Whirlpool electric range with convection oven. We have had it 2 1/2 yrs and have used it often... until today we had been very happy with it. While baking some French fries we heard a loud pop, almost like a shot, running to the kitchen to find the inside tempered glass shattered! Wow! Shocked to say the least we couldn't believe it. Called our Lowe's store, to no avail our warranty had expired. They gave us Whirlpool's number with no success. I am extremely disappointed and will probably never buy Whirlpool again!

Self-cleaning oven system DOESN'T WORK AT ALL! The company rep I talked with said the system only works on "lightly soiled" oven and doesn't clean at all on the oven top or sides. When I explained that my oven was less than lightly soiled (I rarely use it) and that I had run the cleaning cycle twice and none of the soil was affected. Apparently the company is aware of this problem and I believe customers should be made aware of it BEFORE purchasing. I was told there was nothing they could do because my appliance is out of warranty. I asked if they had received other complaints and was told they had. I am not surprised.

The oven door is locked and can't be opened so of the wall will have to torn out as well. I called Whirlpool 3 times and have offered no assistance.

I bought these products 2 1/2 years ago along with a dishwasher and Microwave, all which are Gold Series. The first month my Microwave broke. Instead of a certain part that they used to use, they now use a Capacitor instead and it broke. The repairman fixed it under warranty, but told me "I'll be seeing you again." Then, my oven occasionally says "Function not available." Whirlpool won't tell me what the problem might be and they have nothing for troubleshooting this problem in their manual. My only solution is to reset the circuit breaker and then it works for awhile. Now, My refrigerator has ice building up at the bottom of my freezer and leaking all over my floor. I found a Whirlpool bulletin online which explains that this problem is because of a defective part (Grommet) and that they have a replacement part for it and you can get it by calling their customer service department. Why didn't they send out recall notices to their customers?
So, on 8/10/2015 and 8/11/2015 I tried getting this new p-trap part, but for two days now Whirlpool's computers aren't working and they have no other way of looking this stuff up. Very poor customer service and I also waited for a half hour on the phone to be told their computers aren't working. How about putting a message on their pre-recorded message letting customers know their computers aren't working?

Wrong... it's not that I didn't have the rebate paperwork but the rebate has expired... even though I didn't get any paperwork nor was there any mentioned of a time frame. Every time I run the oven cleaning cycle the temperature fuse in the oven blows. The ovens cannot be used and the door locks and cannot be opened. Whirlpool, which must be fully aware of this defect since hundreds of other people have posted of the same problem, took three weeks to get a repairman round, who didn't bring any spare parts and took several more weeks to return. The oven then worked until I ran the cleaning cycle again, when it failed again. End result I cannot use my oven for months on end. Fraud on Whirlpool's part to sell defective ovens with a design flaw that they must know about. I intend to run the cleaning cycle every time the oven is repaired until such time as Whirlpool replaces this lemon and I would suggest that everybody else who has this problem do the same.

I purchased a Whirlpool gas stove model #WFG540H0AH from Sears in March 2103. Since that time, the oven has repeatedly broken. After two major repairs, the repair company said the fas venue (?) suspect board was defective and needed to be replaced by the manufacturer. After 3 weeks of back and forth calls with Whirlpool customer service, the only solution they provided was for me to purchase a new stove at a discount with no compensation for installation, the gas connection kit, or haul-away of the old appliance. The original stove cost me $1100 including the installation, haul-away and taxes. The replacement option would have cost me $800 and still did not included haul-away, the gas installation kit, or taxes. Hardly an affordable solution. Whirlpool at no time addressed that a part on the stove was deemed defective.

We bought Whirlpool Gold Series on July 6, 2014. Refrigerator, range, microwave & dishwasher. Our refrigerator - we have the repair company out almost every month cause the icemaker was constantly icing up and wasn't making the ice cubes single, would come out all attached to each other. So after arguing with Lowe's and Whirlpool we were able to get a different refrigerator in February of 2015. Now in April 2015 we are having trouble with our microwave with the light flickering off and on when we open the door and sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't. The repair company has been out 3 times for the same problem telling me that where the door closes are 2 latches that when not lined up cause this issue, so the repair company replaced the 2 latches and a month later it started happening again. So they came out and replaced the light socket. Now we will see how long that last.
Now for the range which is the AquaLift Self-Cleaning which doesn't clean the oven at all. It was like I was back in the early 1950's, only worse. The baked on grease spots, you cannot get off at all. To me this is false advertising and the store's personnel lied to about all you have to do is pour 2 cups of water in the bottom of the oven, press the self-cleaning button and after 40 minutes of cleaning and letting the oven cool a bit you just have to wipe the oven down with a damp cloth and the oven is clean. Not so much!!!
Wish I had all my old appliances back because they were made to work correctly. The new appliances suck for the amount of money you pay for them. So please beware and do research on the appliances you want to purchases otherwise you will get ripped off with no satisfaction for your hard earned money you spent on them. I have always had Whirlpool appliances and have loved them but these new ones we purchased are nothing but junk.

We are very easy on everything we own. When we replace appliances, cars, furniture, etc. we are generally able to sell our used items, which are always in great condition. Unfortunately, this is not the case with our current appliances. I will list the many problems.
Combo range hood/microwave oven: it vented absolutely nothing. The microwave oven had its own set of just plain silly issues with the manner in which the touchpad had to be set. The oven did at least work. 2/2013 we had a Broan range hood installed and vented to the outside and purchased a Whirlpool countertop microwave oven. Again we had the little issues with using the touchpad plus the door was very hard to open. This countertop microwave oven failed 1/2015, less than a year of usage. At this time we purchased a Panasonic microwave that is much simpler to use.
The Smooth-top range/oven looks nice. It is the most inconsistent range/oven we have ever owned. You cannot lower the cooktop burners to simmer. There is no simmer. On that setting it may as well be turned off. I can set it at about 9 o'clock on the dial and some days that may be simmer. Others days it could be higher. Overall, the burners have no consistency. The oven cools quickly and I must be mindful not to toss in a 2nd sheet of cookies without checking the temperature. I have never had to do this on any other oven we have owned.
The dishwasher does clean my dishes, thank goodness. However, I have had 2 service calls (under warranty) for a little gasket (hinge pad) which keeps the door propped a bit while loading the silverware into the basket. This piece has failed a third time I will just live without being able to prop the door. And then there is the silverware basket. Each piece must be loaded, handle first, into the slots on the basket. Of course, some of my silverware has wider handles so this does not work well. Such a poor design.
The refrigerator was my pride and joy. We paid the extra charge for the French door style instead of the side-by-side style that came with the house. My charges here are more serious. 2 of the little door shelves have broken. Oddly enough these are small shelves which have some items on them that are not used often. If I choose to replace them, it will cost me over 25.00 for each of these little gems. Now, a piece of plastic on the veggie drawer has broken so I must be mindful not to let the drawer drop.
Worst of all was the last service call out of warranty. I had standing water/ice on the floor of the freezer. Apparently this was due to a poor design and my service man replaced it with a new P-Trap that actually works. Yes, the original design was bad, yet I still had to pay for the replacement. Seems like this should have been a recall and replaced free of charge. Instead my total charge was 144.06. UGH!!! Now, I do understand I was likely provided bottom of the line appliances with my new home, but to have issues with all of them is ridiculous.

We purchased the Whirlpool double oven gas range from Lowe's in July of 2014. The oven heat that boils out onto the stove top when you use either oven makes it difficult to handle the pots on the range top. The first time I used both ovens at the same time the plastic front to the control panel started to melt and the fumes were horrible. It was under warranty so Whirlpool replaced it with an identical panel that also melted when I used the top oven and range top at the same time. It's out of warranty so Whirlpool says it's not their problem. From reading these other complaints it is obvious to me that customer satisfaction is not important to Whirlpool - just that profit margin. Build cheap - sell high should be their motto.

After calls to Whirlpool I am told that repair warranty only and I am stuck with my appliance, no replacement. This appliance was sold to me with defective parts. This appliance is not Whirlpool quality. Whirlpool is not taking responsibility for an appliance with manufacturer faults being sold to a customer at a retail store. Why??
Why is Whirlpool allowing a non-working appliance to stay with the customer? Why did you sell it? What do I need to do to make you take responsibility, repairs are not fixing problem. Any replacement of parts now is only going to bandaid the cause, problem has not been found as to why my appliance does not work! Something is causing all the parts to need to be replaced. This appliance was only 90 days old when stopped working. Now it is being treated as a much older appliance with faulty/worn out parts - is that the quality you sell your customers?
Whirlpool needs to step up, take responsibility for manufacture defects and replace my appliance. Anything else is unsatisfactory and not acceptable from a manufacturer who prides themselves in quality and customer satisfaction. I have not had a working appliance in my home beginning June 23. Enough is enough, replace the appliance, admit a defective appliance was sold to me and take responsibility for your product.

Aqualift is a Joke. We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased a new Whirlpool range model #WFE710HOAE. It came with a feature called Aqualift Technology to clean the oven. The button you push to start it says "Aqualift Self-Cleaning." I followed the simple directions and when it was finished I was surprised to find that nothing was clean. I tried it again with the same results. I had to then clean some of it with the enclosed scrubbing pad. You cannot use any cleaners except one that they also send a small sample of. In short, it was like the old days cleaning my mothers oven with a scrub pad and a lot of elbow grease. I spent 30 minutes getting it somewhat clean.
I am so disappointed and mad that Whirlpool can just blatantly mislead consumers this way. No one wants to buy an expensive product such as this and have to clean it by hand. You get as good a result if you do not even use Aqualift. My last range lasted 20 years and all you had to do was take a wet cloth and wipe out the residue. Whirlpool is at best incompetent and at worse criminal and purposely misleading with this and other similar models and should recall or be forced to recall and replace these with a working technology. I am surprised that the Federal Government has not stepped in. I would be very supportive and would participate in a class action lawsuit on this matter. As I stated in the beginning, this product is a joke.

I had a Whirlpool oven for 14 years. It worked great and the control board burned up during the cleaning cycle. I purchased a new whirlpool oven that did not have an exposed bottom heating element. It takes way too long to preheat and if during baking, you need to change the temperature, it starts preheating again and the displayed temperature is lower than the original temperature that was set at the beginning; and it takes too long for the oven to reach the new temperature. This appears to be the result of the bottom heating element being hidden. Heating and maintaining a consistent temperature is far more important than being able to clean the bottom of the oven especially when this is a self-cleaning oven.
Updated on October 20, 2015: This is an update on my last review. I was cooking a cake at 350 degrees and when the designated time was up, I opened the door to check for doneness. The cake needed to cook a little longer, so I closed the door and the temperature immediately went to 300 degrees and started preheating again which of course caused the oven to get too hot for the cake I was baking. Who is designing these ovens??? Certainly not a person that cooks on a day-to-day basis. I will never buy a Whirlpool oven again.

My Whirlpool range, was purchased 14 years ago. It was fine until 2 months ago. I was preparing a meal for a dinner party and the oven went from low baking into Clean mode. (This can't be done by accident, it is many step process to go into clean mode) Locking the door! When I realized what was happening I immediately turned the breaker off but we still could not open the range door. Since the oven had my potato casserole and my Teflon coated cookie sheets inside it started to emit a toxic smell choking all of us inside the house. The unit was too hot to touch so my husband and brother-in-law finally donned gloves and got the range outside. I called Whirlpool the next morning and got the run around as to what type of range it was Kenmore/Whirlpool. Whirlpool finally sent someone out to look at the range and their determination was it caught on fire and melted!
The company will not do anything about the unit or all the damage it cause because the range is over 10 years old. But they did not tell me this until I had spent weeks getting estimates and gathering information for them. I TOLD THEM DURING THE INITIAL CALL THE RANGE WAS 14 YEARS OLD. I TOLD THEM THE EXACT DATE IT WAS PURCHASED. Whirlpool sent me a letter from their Claims Resolution Department saying my DISHWASHER will not be covered and misspelling my last name. I have tried to call the person ** at least 25 times and she never answers the phone, only get her voicemail. I just wanted to tell them I was a little concerned about their accuracy with the typing of the name and product..... How complete could the investigation have been if they didn't even get the product correct.
The smoke/smell ruined my microwave and ceiling fan. We had to paint the ceiling, redo wallpaper and professionally clean all the carpets and drapes on my first floor (we had just remodeled our kitchen last May so this was an expensive redo not in the budget. Not to mention the cost of a new range). I will NEVER buy a Whirlpool again. And I want to spread the word about the possibility of your range having the same problem.

I was used to simply wiping down the oven following a cleaning, just removing the leftover ash. I haven't had to scrub an oven for many years and it is very hard for me. I ran a second "cleaning cycle" and it didn't look any cleaner. We both had to kneel down and try a variety of non abrasive cleaners which finally got most of the grease spots, but not all. I guess we will just have to cover the roasts and try to keep aluminium foil on the bottom rack as much as possible. My review is not about Lowe's, it is about the Whirlpool Range I purchased. I purchased a Whirlpool Range in 2013. In a matter of a few weeks the drawer at the bottom was giving problems. It was still under warranty and a repairman was sent to repair it at no cost to me. Something was broke about it. The drawer is so flimsy made it is not made to hold much of anything to start with. I have to take all sorts of effort to get it to close correctly. It is just shoddy made. Then a few weeks ago a piece of the side trim on the oven door fell off. My husband got it back on and then it fell off again last night. I am not happy with this stove, it is cheap made for $550.00. It is white with a smooth cooking surface. Drawer is so shallow and won't stay on the tracks, things fall out over the back. I am not satisfied with this stove, but I have got to keep it.

I'm afraid if burner is lit, had we try to start oven we are going to have explosion.

Oven was purchased new from Home Depot. Right off, the top black glass surface got scratched. Not sure how it happened. Seems to scratch easily. Then, the oven temperature for baking was found to not hold consistent. While pre-heating the oven for 350 F, the temperature goes up to 375 F, then well into the baking time, can drop to 100 degrees less (275 F). Oven feature is called "accu bake". It ruined the baking and seems to be anything but.

My oven was a lemon from day one. The light bulb would not light, the oven would not come on. Had the repairman in cause it was under warranty, he replaced the gas valve. A month later the same thing happened, the oven did not light. Have been putting up with this for a little over a year, it is finally off warranty. Same thing happens, you go to cook something and it will not light, then the oven door broke! We had to pay to have a new hinge installed. Whoever heard of a oven door breaking? I have had ovens 40 years old and they still work and the door doesn't break. Needless to say, my oven is still doing the same thing, lights sometimes and other times does not. Called Whirlpool several times, they are nasty and won't stand behind anything. Customer service says there is no lemon law for stoves. Other numbers have started to fail as well... Also it needs cleaning but a neighbor with the same model said "whatever you do 'don't' use the self clean for the oven," as they did & it literally burnt out the control panel costing them over $400!! Say what?? So we can't use the self-clean feature or we'll "really" fry the control board... Would LOVE to hear Whirlpool's explanation on this one... I recently purchased a top of the line self-cleaning Whirlpool/KitchenAid range. Or so I thought. I used the self-cleaning feature for the first time only to find out it literally does not do anything. Whirlpool quickly answered my Saturday morning phone call and were very professional. When I told them the Aqualift did not work, they asked if I purchased the Aqualift kit. No, what does it contain? Two sponges and a scraper. Basically I was told I would have to clean the oven manually. That would be fine except I have osteoarthritis and cannot clean it manually.
Shame on Whirlpool and KitchenAid and Consumer Reports for not doing their due diligence and not testing important features accurately, over a greater period of time with real day-to-day scenarios with people who actually know what they are doing.

Paid between $800.00 and $1,000 (can't recall exactly) three years ago and the oven locked recently while cooking a pizza. Couldn't get the lock to disengage and the oven turned on "self-clean" mode without me doing anything. The pizza burned crispy before I finally got the door open. The failure code for the control panel showed up. I didn't buy the extended warranty because we only needed it to last 5 - 6 years until we do a full kitchen remodel and the really inexpensive (~ $250) oven that was installed by the previous owners to sell the house lasted six years with no trouble. Now we have to pay $391.00 to repair what I consider a brand new oven. In doing some research it looks like the control panel fail is common and is associated with using the self clean mode which we only used once. Great oven if you only need one for a few years and are willing to pay the price.

We purchased KitchenAid Model YKESS907SS05 Electric Range from Appliance Canada April 2012, just before we took possession of our new home. We began using the range in July of that year and it worked well until September 11, 2014. At that time we decided to use one of the features of the range which is the self-clean feature. During which the control panel failed and our oven ceased to work.
We contacted Appliance Canada and they suggested a technician come to assess. We called the suggested number and they send a technician that was not Whirlpool certified and we had to pay out of pocket for the visit $158. He did absolutely nothing during the visit. We then called Whirlpool Canada and they informed us that he was not Whirlpool certified and to call Appliance Canada, we immediately called Appliance Canada and made arrangements to have certified technician come to assess. Whirlpool Canada also indicated at that time that the board that failed was still under warranty and we should not have to pay. September 22nd the second technician came to assess the situation, used tape to cover the front blowing air duct so as not to have the hot air blow back onto the control panel. This was a temporary fix, they ordered a control panel in the interim that they would then use to replace.
The control panel came in October the 22nd, was replaced and the new board was faulty, put old one back in and re-ordered another board. The part was on back-order. By mid November, after numerous calls, we called Whirlpool directly. They authorized that the technician to get the part from another supply source. On November the 26th, technician came back - tried new board could not get it to work, left it with us and ordered additional parts. At that time the technician who was taking the case had a family emergency and would not be able to come back out until the new year. Subsequently, Appliance Canada authorized a new company to resume our work with a new technician (Toronto Appliance). He came out December the 17th, with the board that was left behind, he was able to get the oven working.
December the 22nd while in the middle of cooking a meal, the oven failed again. We called Appliance Canada and they had a Technician scheduled to come December the 24th from Toronto Appliance. However, on December the 23rd the oven resumed working. The Technician came on the 24th but because the oven was working again could do nothing. On December the 31st, while dinner was in for guests, the oven failed yet again. We called Appliance Canada, yet again, and they scheduled another visit with a new control panel and additional board. The technician arrived again today, January the 28th, and could not get the stove working. He was instructed to order an additional part and we are to wait another 2 weeks.
In total, we have been waiting for 4 and a half months, we have also been told that we were not to have used the self-clean as this causes these types of problems. Why is it offered, in addition, Whirlpool has not supported our direct calls, nor authorized the replacement of a product, that for all intents and purposes, is faulty. We have had no success in the resolution of this issue nor support to reach a resolution from all parties involved. I would suggest not buying any product from those involved as their lack of support for their product is appalling.

They turn on very hot, then turn off and after a while they are red hot again. Cooking anything that requires a medium or less heat burns to the pan bottom. The oven works alright as a regular oven but when put on convection it burns the food closest to the fan before the rest is cooked. The company sent a technician to check the stove. He checked the temperature of the oven and said it was running too hot. He changed that setting and the first time I tried to bake it took forever. I reset the oven back to where it had been. About a month in, I cooked 2 pizzas side by side. The first one burnt to a crisp and the one right beside it was doughy on top and burnt on the bottom. Not thinking, I blamed the pizzas! I also blamed myself, thinking it was me not being used to the stove.
A few weeks later, I baked cupcakes. About 15 minutes in, I smelled burning and the cupcakes were raw on top and burnt black on the bottom. I called Whirlpool and they sent a technician out and he replaced the circuit board/clock. Worked for a couple of weeks and then the burning began again. About 2 years ago, we purchased a Whirlpool fridge, stove, and dishwasher. I have had so many problems with the stove (WFG540H0AS0) that it has pissed me off, actually. First, the knobs that control the stove top melted. MELTED! We had to replace them to the tune of $30.00 each and there are 5. Why would anyone use knobs that cannot withstand heat on a stove?! News flash, I cook on my stove. Therefore, there will be heat used. Second, the oven keeps shutting off in the middle of cooking my holiday meal. Of course, this made my turkey take much longer than usual. Today, it shut off in the middle of cupcakes. Third, the oven does ignite without turning it on and off multiple times. So we called the repair person who told us to replace the ignition switch for it. This helped for about one month. Then the problem started again. I just emailed Whirlpool and I will call them next business day. I am so disappointed with Whirlpool. I thought they had a good reputation for quality products.

I originally brought this to the attention of Whirlpool on February 27, 2014, and they chose to ignore the matter I raised. I am appalled at their customer service, but then again, customer service has been dead in America for decades now. I purchased a KitchenaAid (Architect Series II, Model KERS807SSS02, Ser. XW4704146) oven in 2009, which included a 5-year extended warranty. The first time I had to use my extended warranty was the first time a pot overboiled and thus overflowed covering the top of my range. Since then, I've had to have my oven serviced two other times, but resulting from a pot which overflowed on the range.
The controls are located in the front, directly below the stove top. There is most definitively a flaw in the design of the model I purchased. It seems quite obvious to me that the design should have included protection from moisture reaching the controls. It is very common for pots to overboil, from time to time, and thus overflow, but this should not cause the controls to malfunction due to seepage. Had I purchased the model that had controls behind the range and controls above the cooking surface, moisture would never reach the controls when a pot overflows. It should not cost hundreds of dollars each time a pot overflows on a range. Had I known that the oven model I purchased had a design flaw that allows moisture to reach the computer controls of the oven, I would have purchased the oven with the controls above the cooking surface.
I invested over $2K on this oven because having owned KitchenAid appliances in the past, the KitchenAid brand had historically proven reliable. KitchenAid (or now Whirlpool) can no longer take pride in the quality of their products, most likely relative to the loss of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Whirlpool ignored me the first time I contacted them on this matter and most recently today when I was told that it was a 'use' matter. Apparently they believe that an overflowed pot is not a common occurrence on a range. I wrote directly to Jeff Fettig, CEO of Whirlpool and he has chosen to ignore me.

I purchased a replacement gas range (whirlpool) approximately 3 years ago. It's not the top of the line, no bells or whistles such as a self-cleaning oven or such. I did love the three huge grates on top, one which is interchangeable with a flat grill. If it only worked it would be a decent range. The center oblong burner struggled to ignite in full from the beginning. Often, I light the thing with a grill lighter. But the thing that pisses me off more than anything is the F2 error that appears 70% of the time on the control panel when I am preheating the freaking oven. I am NOT replacing the control panel on a $400.00 range. What I have discovered is I can hit off my power at the main, not once, but 2-3x's and reset or over ride the damn thing. I read this F2 code is a common occurrence so I got to thinking, why? My conclusion is the heat from the oven is vented up & directly on the control board panel. Really now, who's bright idea was it to expose a control board to repeated temps of 350+? Hate this appliance.
Next range will NOT be a new one, I'm looking to replace this junk with something mom or grandma had that lasted decades, not a couple years. Shame on you Whirlpool for producing such low quality, disposable products. By the way, I just went through this with a new fridge so there's much to be desired with new appliances. Thirty minutes into running the oven self cleaning cycle for the first time, the middle pane of glass exploded! We've had this range two years 4 months, and didn't buy the extended warranty. I contacted Whirlpool and they acted like this was the first they've heard of this. I inquired on the class action law suit in New York from 2012, the year we bought ours, and they had no comment. They were "willing" to sell us an extended one year warranty and we pay for the service call for only $332! I declined and will never buy a Whirlpool product again.

Got a simple error code "E6 F2" on the display of my oven (only 8 years old). Called Whirlpool to schedule a repair. They told me there were no available dates for one of their techs to fix my unit. They referred me to 3 outside companies that wanted to charge me over $100 just to come out and take a look. One of the phone numbers to the companies they referred me to was a wrong number. I asked them to tell me what the error code means and they said they couldn't tell me with any degree of accuracy. (What use is an error code, then??!!) I checked all over the internet and different websites say it might be a control board (over $300 for the part) issue. But several techs also said that it is a crap shoot and could also be a Temperature Sensor.
I called back Whirlpool to see if they could get me a deal on the part. But, guess what? They don't sell it anymore...in fact they don't even sell their own parts at all!! And, they transferred me to some outside company that refused to even give me part numbers, to avoid me shopping for a better deal (which I did end up finding on Amazon after number 6 below).
I called back Whirlpool and after getting transferred around to 2-3 different people and wasting about an hour I finally got someone who finally wanted to just give me whatever decent service they could and they finally got me the part numbers of the 2 different control boards (Main Control Unit and Sister board that controls the locking mechanism, $367 and $140 respectively). Now I am faced with paying an Appliance Repair person over $500 for what seems to me is a BIG FAT LEMON of an appliance due to the sheer number of unsatisfied people that are having the same issue, have had it fixed, and had the error just return again.
THUS.... WHIRLPOOL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR PRODUCTS JUST SUCK!! AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! THE LEAST THEIR COMPANY COULD DO IS TRY TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT EXACERBATE IT BY GIVING SHADY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REFUSING TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM!!!

I ran to the panel box & threw the breaker. It also burned my food that was cooking. It did it several times. Then I decided to not cut the light on or touch the button to raise the temp. Then after 2 years, the entire front glass door and handle fell off when I opened it. It not only fell, but the cheap plastic lip that holds the door on cracked so it is impossible to get back on. About twenty minutes later she returned as something was burning- the oven reached a temperature of 350 degrees and would have burnt the whole kitchen down if she did not spot it. Now surely the oven should be designed to switch off if sensors fail? I reported this to Hirsch (Ballito) but they say they have no one servicing the Richards Bay area. I am not sure if this stove should be fixed as it is obviously not safe and makes me wonder how Whirlpool get safety standards passed on these items. I work in a customer service industry, so I thought I will do what my customers do when there is an unreasonable issue with a product they bought from me. I called Whirlpool and asked if they would be so kind as to help out a little. The answer was No, No, and No. There was nothing they were willing to do other than take my time away talking to them on the phone. They just don't care. All of the appliances in my house were there 15 years ago when I bought the house and they were not new then, so I will guess they were 20+ years old.
All anyone can tell me is that I will never again get an appliance that will last 20 years regardless of how much I pay. How can this be? I ask. 20 years ago the technology existed to make something that worked, and kept on working. How has this technology been lost? My advice is don't buy Whirlpool because they sell junk, and don't care. What you should do is press the issue whenever you have a problem no matter what the product is. As long as you are reasonable, and polite you will usually get some help. Unless it's Whirlpool you are talking to.

When the refrigerator install was complete, I alerted the delivery people the French doors were not aligned properly. There was at least 1/4" difference at the top of the doors. They did their best to "fix" the problem to no avail.

I then called Specialty Appliance to inquire about returning the appliance and of course they wouldn't take the appliance. I'm stuck with it. The workman ship is cheap. Oven cooks well as I know how to make adjustments as to not overcook meals.
Following cleaning instructions provided by Whirlpool, I wipe out the oven (when cool) after spills if there are any. By the way, I didn't clean the oven with chemicals because the owner's manual states not to and I HATE using those chemical anyway. Again, stuck with an appliance I am not satisfied with. They apologized, asked for 48 hours to locate a part, then said they would replace the cooktop if they were unable to find out. Almost 48 hours later, they hadn't located it and denied any replacement option. The part's cost is over $800. The cooktop cost just over $900. Whirlpool reps would only read from a script of legal warranty jargon. Then they said they needed 5 to 7 days. We had a baby visiting - we needed our stove. To me, an apology would be replacing that unit if the part wasn't available, not a verbal statement. Fortunately, we had the phone # of a local Ikea manager who told us to bring the cooktop to the store as they had them in stock. They replaced it with a new one. Whirlpool Range Model WFE540H0AW - I'm very dissatisfied with the accuracy of the oven controls. All of my cakes were falling after I've let them bake for the time called for in the baking instructions. After the first couple of failures, I bought a cheap oven thermometer so I could get an idea about what might be causing the problem. The temperatures varied from 325 degrees as a low and 390 degrees on the high end during the baking of a cake, with the oven thermometer set to 350 degrees.
Noticing this, I notified Best Buy, the store that I bought the range from. They listened to my complaint and scheduled one of their technicians to come out. The technician replaced both the electronic control board and the oven sensor. He ran tests on it and even with new electronic components the stove behaved in the same manner. It's too bad that the exact temperature isn't being displayed at all times during the baking process.
I feel that the temperature variations during baking is too severe and that, in turn, is causing an unsatisfactory output whatever is being baked. You can't rely in recommended temperature settings or baking times because of the severe temperature variations. Is there anything that can be done. I'm considering buying a competitor's product if we can't get this resolved. I own other Whirlpool products and am highly satisfied with their performance. I've always considered Whirlpool as one of the most reliable brands. What can be done to rectify this dilemma?

We've had this oven installed about two months now, and are several little annoyances that we discovered. The lowest temperature that can be set for this oven is 175°F. In the past with our old oven we would put bread dough in the oven on a warm setting to let it rise, but 175° is too hot for bread rising - it kills the yeast too quickly. Unlike our former oven, this oven has a cooling fan that starts running when the oven is turned on and continues to run after the oven is turned off - we assume until the temperature cools to a certain threshold. We don't understand why the oven needs to be cooled faster with a fan.
We often bake potatoes, and in the past we would turn off the oven before they had completely finished baking and let the still-hot oven finished the baking without using electricity. Now with a fan, we have to use a little more electricity to finish baking the potatoes plus whatever electricity the fans use. Where's the energy-saving in this? Furthermore the fan is rather noisy. The door insulation liner for the upper oven is twisted, reducing its insulating efficiency and detracting from the appearance of the oven. Apparently to reduce manufacturing cost, Whirlpool did not provide two independent circuits for the oven lights. You cannot turn on the upper oven light without turning on the lower oven light and vice versa.

Purchased Whirlpool free standing smooth top range at Sears Outlet (scratch & dent) in Columbus, OH on December 8, 2012 for a rental property. On May 18, 2014, tenant said she turned the oven on to preheat and turned on one of the front burners. She said she was at the sink preparing food and heard a loud noise; turned around and there were flames coming from the top of the stove. This didn't sound logical so I called fire department and spoke with one of the firemen. He said there was no evidence of anything in the oven or on top of the stove. Tenant said only thing she noticed is that there was a clicking noise coming from the stove a few days prior. After reading all of these complaints, I don't think I will buy another smooth top Whirlpool electric range. Luckily no one was hurt.

We have a 2008 Whirlpool gas range that has worked reasonably well but lately more and more of the electronic push switches on the keypad have stopped functioning. So now I can't set an oven temperature as only a few of the 10 number switches still work. I talked to an appliance repair guy who said that the typical electronic keypads are notorious for burning out after 3-5 years because of heat transfer from the oven. So now I'm stuck with an oven that is virtually unusable and a $400-500 cost to replace the keypad control. Is it worth replacing? Can the faulty control buttons be somehow fixed? Shouldn't Whirlpool acknowledge the faulty design and provide a free (and hopefully better) keypad? There must be thousands of people out there with similar circumstances. What about a class action suit? Any advice/opinions out there?

Purchased in January of 2014: Brand new Whirlpool WOS51EC7AS01 model oven - interior bottom metal has buckled causing the enamel to crack and break off from oven bottom. I registered all my new appliances immediately for warranty. When this happened after the fourth or fifth time baking in the oven, I called Whirlpool to get a service person to look at it. First person Whirlpool scheduled to come out refused to even come out, without looking at my oven. He said he knew we did something wrong? They immediately set up a second service person, after two weeks waiting for an answer; I had to call him (twice). He said that his report and pictures sent into Whirlpool shows normal use and there is nothing wrong with our oven? So, Whirlpool will do nothing to repair the oven? We just spent almost $4,000.00 on all new Whirlpool appliances, and this is how we get treated? WOW! Never again will I ever purchase a Whirlpool product. The enamel is gone in spots from our oven floor. How long do they think that will last with no protective coating on the oven? Terrible customer service.

Sent an e-mail to Whirlpool. They responded with apology. Sent a second e-mail telling them they should be paying the $300 for circuit board in a two-year-old range. No response. Also, sent e-mail to Genier's. No response. The impression I get is that neither are the least bit interested in the problem. Once they sold the $1260 range, they were done. I purchased a Whirlpool accubake oven in 2010. The repairman has been out to repair it 5 times. That's right 5 times. It won't maintain the baking temperature. They have changed the mother board, the ignition switch, the harness, and the thermostat. Every time the repairman leaves it works and then I go to bake something and it doesn't. Once it reaches 350 degrees the oven cuts off. You can hear it trying to ignite but it's like the fire doesn't catch. I have to shut it off, press bake and heat it up all over again. This is so annoying. Bad thing is I like the look of the oven but clearly this is a shotty product. I will never buy a Whirlpool again.

We have also had many problems with 3 year old convection oven. After about 2 months the broiler would just come on in the bake mode. I called Whirlpool about this problem and they were a bit ignorant on the matter. They said they could arrange a service call, but if they did not find the same problem mentioned that I could be charged a service call, even though it is under warranty. I denied at the time and the problem did not happen again for about another 1-1/2 years or so. In the last few months it has happened a number of times and the one time my wife leaves the room, the potpie burns up. She also lost a pan of brownies. Now we make sure that someone is in the kitchen when the oven is in use.
Today the broiler comes on while pre-heating and for the 1st time we receive a message "TURN OFF POWER TO RESET" in which I did thru the breaker. It took forever to cool down, then she is going to try again. I also am going to contact Whirlpool and see what they have to say. Last I checked there was no recall for this model (#GFE461LVS), but there should be after reading all of the complaints or they are bound to have a lawsuit on their hands or maybe even a class action lawsuit.

Purchased this oven on 9/12 from Sears, did not purchase an extended warranty and didn't think it was necessary. I'm a 64 year old widow and only use the oven on holidays, to date I've used the over 5 times. With Easter coming, I decided to clean the oven. Followed the instructions, the door locked and the oven died. I'm totally disappointed, now it would cost over 100.00 to repair, money I cannot afford. Called Sears and all I was told over and over again that they can send a repaid person and I would have to pay.
I was also told that I should have purchased a "Kenmore" and I wouldn't have had a problem and finally I was told that they couldn't fix it and referred me to whirlpool customer service, who also told me it would cost over 100.00. A 19 month oven should not have died. It should have cleaned the oven and continue to work for many more years. Again, I'm upset, angry and disappointed with sears & whirlpool. And don't know what to do. Does anyone else have this problem with the oven, is there a recall?

My oven had been temperamental since day one, then got worse over time. I do not use my oven that much so was not really worried or alarmed until a tray of cookies caught fire. It was set at 350 and jumped to 525 on its own. (I bought an oven thermometer to monitor) Minor burn taking tray out but all okay :-). Contacted Lowe’s where we bought it and they would do nothing (note: at this point the oven is 15-months old and out of warranty). Advised me to contact Whirlpool. Did that - they sent out a repair service and they determined it was the 'temp. sensor'. It is now April 2014 and I am still waiting for the part (this all started Sept 2013).
I have since talked and wrote to Whirlpool for this to be resolved and also asked that the range be recalled due to fire hazard at the least! When I spoke to them in December, they said they could give me ‘50% off the part’. Remember I am still waiting for that part, lol! After writing corp h/q, they said “Sorry, since we can't get the part why not have someone come in and take the old part out and have it rebuilt.” I ask you Whirlpool w/q would you be happy with that??? This range is obviously defective, yet the only solution was to buy for $350, a one-year warranty from Whirlpool. I asked if they had any sort of redress or rebate if we bought another unit, which they reported no. So I looked online for other people who have had similar issues, and counted at least 75. I bought knob covers to prevent that (they did NOT work)! So I called the place I bought the stove from and they sent out a repairman...he said there was no fix for it... but that I owed him $69.99 for the service call.
And every time I turn the oven on to heat it to bake something you smell gas also... I'm almost afraid to use it... 3 nights ago I woke up to the kitchen filled w/ gas...knob covers on but still one was still on a bit... it was a whopping -25 and we had to open windows to clear out the gas... you shouldn't have to check the knobs once you've turned them off. Nor should they come on when you brush by them...when you're not even cooking... Granted I am short but the serviceman said I should move everything I needed to cook w/ closer to me so I didn't have to brush up against the stove... what????? I have cabinets above and all around the stove. What I can't use those cabinets?????

Purchased this oven in September 2012. Three months in, we tried to use the self-cleaning feature and blew a thermal link (guessing terminology). Tech came out and got the oven open and that was his determination. Also said he would replace both the front and the rear one because it was pretty common that if one was bad the other would probably follow. Said he'd have it within a because he had to order it from the factory. I called a week later because no revisit had been scheduled and found out that the factory also did not have the part and was sending me a new unit. Whirlpool was supposed to call and tell me that and did not. It would be another week. Then a few more days for them to come out and replace it and pick up the original unit.
Now I have brand new unit again so we tried the self-cleaner. Same issue. To make a long story short I called again this morning and scheduled yet another service call because the oven is inoperable again after running the self-cleaner. This is the 4th time with the replacement oven. They have replaced the thermal units several times and have replaced the fan.
Fortunately, when I complained vehemently about the original unit, Whirlpool gave me a one year extended warranty on the replacement so I am still under warranty, which, if you're dumb enough to buy a Whirlpool after reading this, I would advise paying for. If you already have one and are having similar issues, call Whirlpool and insist they give you one for free because they sell junk.
This time I told the nice customer service lady that, since the holidays are over and I can get by without the oven, I am going to run the self-clean right after the tech leaves. When it blows and gets repaired again I am going to repeat the process until they refund my money or send me something that works. Whirlpool apparently doesn't care because in their agreement with their service companies they only have to pay for the first visit. After that they just supply parts. I will keep doing this until I run out of service companies in Denver. Then I am going to pay for another extended warranty when this one ends in September 2014 and continue the process.
Wake up Whirlpool!! If these units fail consistently at high altitudes (which every tech that has come out here has mentioned as an issue) then fix the problem or quit selling it in these areas.

In the last two years, the inner glass door of the oven has exploded. The last time was Tuesday, 14th January. The oven door was ajar because we had just finished cooking dinner. The noise was deafening but the worst thing about it was the large pieces of glass thrown all over the kitchen. Most of which were large enough and sharp enough to kill a child and seriously wound an adult. I phoned Whirlpool to report this. The operative I spoke to was very polite but told me these things happen and I could have banged it a while ago and left a weak spot! She also said a Supervisor or similar person would telephone me that day. It is now Saturday 18th January and NO phone call. MY concern is there is no mention of this being a possible problem in their literature and their obvious lack of concern under a Health and Safety situation. Not to mention the cost of replacement door glass.
