I like that the burner of the Viking range is bigger than the other ones so I bought it. But I don't like the range. There is too much problem with the oven. Within six months, the oven is not working properly and there is a problem with the cleaning. The large shaft doesn't come out. So you have to maintain the range. When I turn on the burner, it goes right away sometimes but sometimes it takes four attempts to put on. Viking sent me some specialist and they told me there is a problem with the part. But the range is just one year old and it's expensive too. I never recommend this product anymore.

I bought two Viking ranges the same day. I heard it worked well. One of them is great. The thing I wish they had was a clock and a timer. However, the other one's a piece of junk and I can't seem to get it fixed. When it gets fixed, it works well. When you have problems, you have lots of them. When I get one part fixed, something else is wrong with it. First thing that happened was it would not bake. It would only broil. Then when you turned on the convection oven, it sounded like a 747 was landing in my kitchen. We got the 747 part fixed then the guy ordered a part to get the bake part working. That now works but the oven light doesn't come on. Now, he has to come back again with another board. The part mishaps has been going on way before Thanksgiving and the gentleman I finally got in touch with was kind of rude.

I had a Viking range when I lived in Southern California for 20 years and couldn't kill the thing. Initially, I purchased it for status. It looked so great in my house. With a culinary background, I quickly found out that this range was amazing. It performed. I moved and could not take it with me. We finally built our forever home and one of the requirements was that I bring that Viking back. I have a whole Viking kitchen.

The window in the range in the oven part of it is not the same as it used to be. This seems like it needs some kind of gasket around it. I sometimes see steam between the glass. I was told that's normal but it wasn't like that on my other range. But all in all, it works really well. I love it. I had a GE in another home and it was like junk. You couldn't clean it. It’d scratch. I took the air filters out and washed them. They fell apart the first time. You don't get that with Viking. It is a lot more money but you get what you pay for. I tell people if you're going to invest in appliances for your house, this is the way to go. It's everything you need and Viking stands behind their product.

We have had a Wolf before. We had been led to believe by our salespeople that the Viking was on par with the Wolf but sadly, that was not true. It's a very expensive unit but it doesn't perform. It's something that we probably paid two or three times for what it's worth in terms of its performance. It's an extremely bad value for the dollar. We got scammed. I've reached out to our local company where we bought it from and I've let them do the communications for me. Nobody from the Viking company has ever called us. We'll never buy a Viking product again.

The Viking hood that goes with the Viking range could not be installed in my house because I do not have 10-foot ceilings. We had to purchase a non-Viking hood to match the range. We did need to call in a repairman because the ovens weren't lighting nor were they maintaining the heat and the interior lights weren't coming on. He said that they were not plugged in on the interior. We had been using it for a year and exactly a year later, without moving the oven or anything else, it became unplugged from the inside. But because it was still under warranty, we had it serviced very quickly. The quality has been superb.

I went to culinary school and we used Viking ranges all the time so I know that they're reliable. They cook well and very evenly which is awesome. They usually don't break which is very good. Unfortunately, we had some problems with the one we got. The racks in it don't slide out. We also had a problem with one of the burners that wouldn't light. We're still waiting for pieces to come in for a few months now. The company has been fine but since they've come to fix it, we still haven't heard anything about the parts coming in. It would have been nicer to get kind of like an update.

The Viking range is a good range. It has high heat. I selected it because I do a lot of stir-fry and I wanted something that has good heat control. However, it has some rattles that I don't like. I did have somebody come in and look at it. He corrected a few things and said, "Because it is a custom kitchen, there are some places that the range touched," which he said normally wouldn't have been the case in a traditional installation. He seemed to have a reason for it.

I was pleased when I called. I was smelling gas. They put me on to a service guy in New York. I was able to arrange a visit with him pretty quickly. He came over and corrected the problem very quickly. The pipe where the gas comes in was a little shifted. He was able to crack that. He said it wasn't a serious problem and it's been working fine since. I haven't smelled gas. He also explained to me what the situation was and the safety features with the Viking. If I was going to do it again, I wouldn't do it so quickly. I’d probably end up with a Viking because of the reputation and because of things I've heard. But I was kind of rushed when I made the purchase so I might have looked around a little more. But in terms of cooking, I'm very satisfied.

Viking has got a reputation that it has a very good product. We had a Thermador before and had problems with it so we decided to get a Viking. My husband's a cook and he decided this was what he wanted. When we called in a warranty issue with a fan for the stove, the people from Monterey who handle their warranty repairs came out. The guy was amazing. He did everything that he could find that needed to be done and he was here a few hours.

It seems like the whole stove works better since he came out. He came in to replace the fan but now we have lights above the knobs which we never had. It also seems like the burners are hotter. He was out here twice. He came out once and diagnosed the fan problem. Since it's an intermittent problem, the only way we were able to show him was that we videoed it. If we hadn't videoed it, they wouldn't have been able to handle it under warranty. I'm sure they're aware that this is an ongoing problem. I've read about it in the internet as well so my one thing would be when people make a complaint, they shouldn't have to go to the point of videotaping the problem for Viking to authorize the repair. Other than that, we love our Viking Range. It's a really good product.

Viking was high end, but cheaper than Wolf. Also, it's relatively easier to clean than a Thermador. But Viking's quality is mediocre. If you're deciding between a Wolf and a Viking, you should spend the money and get a Wolf. But if you're deciding between if you want to go high end or low end, I'd get the Viking because it is a nice brand. Everyone mentions it when they come in the house. The supplier that I bought the range from was amazing. They were so great in working with Viking to make sure I was under warranty.

Our home is new construction and not our permanent home. We plan to live in the house 50% of the time. We moved in October 20, 2020. We purchased all Viking kitchen appliances and mind you this is our first Viking purchase and will be our last. After the first use of the stove top, it started rusting. The front panel and the back vent panel. No chemicals were used to clean. All I used was dawn detergent, water and a microfiber cloth. After contacting Viking we were told that we have a 90 day cosmetic warranty so they are willing to replace the parts that are rusting. Huh??? The oven had not been used or the oven door had not been wiped down. The microwave or dishwasher had not been used either at this point. So Viking was to just replace the parts that are rusting and I'm to hold my breath that nothing else rusts in the 90 days or it will not be covered. Am I the only one who thinks this is unacceptable?

I told Viking that stainless steel should not rust and so quickly. After submitting a request to Viking for a replacement range, management declined my request. I bet if “management” paid $7000 for a range and it rusted the first time they cooked, they would not find this acceptable. I will never buy Viking again and their customer service stinks. I’ve had to call Viking every time because they do not call back or follow up.

I've always heard good things about Viking. Several years ago, I heard bad things about them but I decided to give them a chance because they are out of Greenwood and my niece lives there. I chose Viking because it did have a good reputation. Plus, they offered the free dishwasher to come with the range. Building a home, that was an incentive for us.

I absolutely love the quality of the range. We lived in military housing for so long and we had an electric stove and all my pots would hit each other. I couldn't wait to get a gas range. My brother said to get a 36-inch and I'm so glad that I did because my pots can breathe. They don't touch each other. I love the roominess. We've used it for about two weeks now and we've been very pleased. They have set off our alarms but that's because we didn't put the hood on. Other than that, it heats up immediately and it puts out just the right amount of heat. I love that it cooks my potato quickly. It's also easy to clean. I do have a sponge that I use to make sure it doesn't scratch because when I inquired one time, you have to be careful not to use something that would be abrasive to scratch it.

I like the grates. They're very heavy-duty. I do like the knobs too. They are big and easy to turn. I thought it would be cute if they came in different colors but when I called in, they said there's another competitor that is known for certain colors. I've noticed that the back cooks faster than the front but it performs beautifully. It looks like they've improved from what had happened a couple of years ago. They're trying to get their name back.

I saw a Viking Range for the first time when I was 13 in Architectural Digest and I wanted it ever since. I finally was able to get one. I did look at competitors but the Viking Range was my favorite. I love that it's built with such quality and such simplicity. It's the best of design. It's not overfussy. One of my big worries when I got it is whether or not it would be easy to clean. But the fact that the parts all come off and you can just throw them in the sink, I was surprised by how easy it is to clean. It's everything that it needs to be. We got good service and it's a good product. It not only works well but also we enjoy the experience of cooking on the range.

We live on a farm so we're not on natural gas and we had to adapt to propane. Everyone else that we talked to was not particularly helpful. But Viking was able to quickly and effectively solve the issue that we had without replacing the appliance which was really nice 'cause we were trying to get moved into our house. We also have the dishwasher, the vent hood and the refrigerator from Viking and we really love them. We're really happy with them.

The most important thing to me is that it will kind of last. However, I'm trying to buy a griddle cover and it's an older model so it's not super easy to tell if the griddle cover they sell now kind of will work on it.

In my last home that I built, we put a Viking range and a hood in it. I did research on it at the time and it was one of the highest rated in Consumer Reports. From experience with it before, I went to purchase another one when I redid my new kitchen. Everything’s been fine with it and I’ve been very pleased. I love everything about the range except two things. The first is the old stove I had had individual grates for each burner and I miss that. With this one, I have a five-burner stove and it's got three grates. I would prefer to have each burner have their own grate. It's easier for me when I'm cleaning it to be able to lift one of the grates to wipe out the area which needs to be wiped down. The second issue is the knobs. There should be a safety locking device on it for children.

It took forever to get it delivered but once we got it, it was functioning well and it's good so far. We like the different size burners. We have the six-burner so we have the variation in the BTUs. With the hood that we got, the fan is very powerful. It's got a nice light which is great. I also submitted my mail-in rebate which came which was nice. I heard about Viking 15 years ago but I just was able to afford a Viking a couple of months ago. I love the way the stove looks with the legs, which is what I love the most about them and then, I love the way it cooks. It makes my food taste different and it cooks faster. I always heard that Viking was top-of-the-line, which was what I wanted, and that made me purchase it. My range has been magnificent. I wouldn't buy no other stove but Viking. But the purchasing process was horrible. Had I known that I could have dealt with Viking myself, I would have gone straight through them.

The delivery people were unprofessional. They said that they were gonna take my stove back if I didn’t pay them $300 for the hook-up service. I called my husband and he was so upset because we had already given them $6,500. They said it wasn't in what I paid. He told me I needed to pay them in cash. So, it was a gimmick. My husband said that we were not gonna do business with them and told me to go upstairs, get the money and give it to them so they could get out. And that was what I did.

I called AJ Madison, the people I purchased it from, but I would never do business with them ever again. I would never recommend anybody to them. They should not even be selling Viking products. Still, when somebody from Viking came to my house because one of my eyes wasn’t lighting, he walked me through everything and told me what I needed to do. He was excellent. I loved that guy and I could have kept him.

We went with Viking because it was highly recommended but the doors of the range we got were off and they would stick out to one side. The quality was horrible. They brought me another one and I told the guys to make sure that the unit is okay before they remove the one that I had. When they opened it, the guy said it’s worse than what I got. They took it back and brought me a different one. The one I ordered was a Series 5 and when the man came from Viking, he looked at them and said he was gonna move me up to a Series 7. It still had a little bit of a problem but their guys came and removed the bottom plate and kind of played with it. Now, it works perfectly.

It took about a year until I finally got the one that I presently have. I had to go and buy an induction hotplate. Whoever is putting these things together, their quality control people are not doing a very good job. The range is wonderful but the experience was terrible. I have a lot of problems with Viking. The oven is really loud. When you set the temperature for 300, it goes to 300, and then it tries to go on and off just to maintain the temperature. I can hear that on and off sound -- the clicking and the sparks -- in the living room which is a good 30 or 40 feet away. I don't know if I have a faulty unit or that's the way it's built. Also, the dishwasher doesn't really clean really well. I've looked online and at the manual. I tried to tweak things like settings and gears. I also make sure I use rinse aid and high-quality detergents but there have been some issues. One more thing was the fridge. When I set it at a temperature like 37 degrees Fahrenheit, things start freezing in the back of the fridge. If I put a jar of olives towards the back of the fridge, it gets frozen.

These are very expensive appliances and they're considered high-end, but I don't feel like I have that quality in them. I've had a Frigidaire fridge in my garage and I've had it for about seven years, and that's working perfectly. I don't think I would recommend Viking but that could change. I've been meaning to contact support and once I get in touch with them and they can help me resolve these issues, I think maybe it would be different.

Viking had a real good reputation and it’s considerably more expensive than others so we expected a lot more from it. But right now, we're on the fence about it. We found out the range was damaged when it was installed and we had the local vendor, AllSouth, come out and look at it to see what the deal was. They said it could be fixed and it could be 5,000. But even if we replaced it, they were somewhat reluctant to say they feel safe with the internal portion of the gas part of it. That made us still somewhat reluctant to use it.

They handed it off to Viking and Viking did not call us back so we had to call them and they apologized. They said they were sorry the other guy didn't call us back and that they have cameras that look at the production process so it couldn’t have been on their part. But the end result is we paid almost $7,200 for the range and it's damaged. I'm not real happy with Viking and I was real disappointed with them. If I had to do it over again, I would not go with them. It's been somewhat of an uphill battle with Viking and AllSouth and we're hoping that it will be rectified.

We wanted a high-end range. We needed something ultra dependable and something with great reviews. I cook a lot and I use good quality pots and pans. We use a lot of cast iron skillets and Le Creuset. Everything that's out there right now is even broken in the store. We went to Lowe's a couple of times and the grates of some of their higher end ranges were snapped in the store. It was pretty dumb. Another big factor for us is we did not want a display board. Our previous couple ranges had that kind of electronic stuff and we wanted dials we could turn. We understand there are electronics in there but I don't need a pizza setting or anything like that.

We bought the Viking range professional model so it's an open burner and we love it. We are now calling it the turbo stove and turbo oven because the stuff cooks so fast. But we had to have a guy come out and check it because some of the igniters weren't igniting right away on the stove. When we would turn it off, it would go poof and there is a big flash of flame. We had converted to propane. He checked everything and said it was fine. He explained something about the valve that lets the gas in is further back so we are gonna have that. It's not a problem though as it’s not dangerous. It's just something that had to get used to. And then the guy figured out what we could do where it won't poof.

Right now, I have a Le Creuset on the stove and I’m making a bone broth. If I put the two back burners on the simmer function, it’s really nice and low. My broth simmers nicely. It kinda huffs but it doesn’t do that on the front burners. I got a huge stockpot on a front burner. It’s in the lowest setting and it's beautiful. Our range works fantastically but it is different from what we were used to. We're adaptable though. We’re gladly working with it. Also, the range doesn't have a timer but I'm okay with that. I baked a sourdough loaf this morning and it’s beautiful. The oven is consistently 25 degrees off according to my Amazon internal cheapo thermometer in there. But we're also at 4,200 feet. As long as I know that it's 25 degrees off, I can deal with that. Our last range was all digital and it was so unpredictable. That's why we wanted something predictable. Our Viking range is, so far. It’s beautiful and it’s a work of art.

I bought a Viking range because of the way it's made and its performance. It’s the second one that I bought. I sold my other home and the new buyers wanted that range. There was nothing else on the market I would look at. I would buy it again. There isn't anything I dislike about the range. It does a beautiful job. The design is beautiful too. I love the style and what it does. Everything is great on the stove. I wish I had a proofing feature though because I bake a lot.

I bought a house and a Viking range was already selected by the builder. So far, I already had to call out the technicians because some of the rings did not ignite properly with the spark. It seems the igniter is extremely fussy about the distance of the conductor the spark starts from to either the inner circle where the gas comes out of or the outer circle, which is to stop the food dropping down into your stove. They are two pieces of metal and if it's too close to either one of them, then the spark does not travel enough distance in the air to actually ignite the gas. Basically, you can't switch on the gas using that igniter. It's a bit of a pain in the neck. When it stops igniting, you have to go and try and work out if it is too close to the inside or to the outside. You try and bend the thing. It would be really good if they had a bit of a more reliable electronic ignition for the rangetop.

I also got the microwave, the refrigerator, and the dishwasher. The refrigerator came with a dent in the door while the dishwasher has some sort of plastic piece that is hanging down from the door. The door that you open to the dishwasher is hanging there. I don't know whether it wasn't installed properly. I've looked in the installation manual and it doesn't tell you what to do about what that is or where it should connect. The other thing about the dishwasher is it's a little on the noisy side. We had a Bosch 800 series before that and that was near silent. We had Miele before that and that sorta cleaned better than the Viking one does.

The microwave has a bit of a strange design. It's one of those drawer microwaves so you’re below the waist level. It's not very easy to see what buttons to press. The most common thing you want to be able to do is to be able to open the microwave drawer but it's really hard. With every single button, there's no way to feel without getting down, bending, and looking for where the open button is. It's not in an obvious place. It's doesn't stick out at all and you can't do it by touch.

Bizarrely, there is a separate open button and a close button. Why on earth do you need that? They could have just had a double-sized button that combined both. You might actually have a chance of pressing it without going searching for it. There is a bit of a usability problem. In order to open or close the microwave, you have to locate these tiny buttons that are the same size as all of the other buttons. And they're right in the middle of the touchpad so it's not something you can find without looking.

I'm very happy with Viking products. I consider them very good and very well-built. It's very reliable. I had the previous Viking range for eight years and there were no problems at all. It's a very good brand that's why I wanted to have it. However, the process of this particular case of me getting this range on a deal (I found a great deal of a new unpacked range for almost half the price) and the things that followed weren't great. I got the range, brought it home, installed it then there were some problems which I reported in my communication with the company. It was quite lengthy to get the proper technician to come and look at it.

There's a whole process that I experienced talking to the company and the company has another company hired for public relations. I got an email from that second company that the issues were being looked at. Then the same second company recommended the local tech but I wasn't happy with the tech that worked initially. The local company that was hired to look at the things that are not functioning reported something that wasn't complete. So, I had to recall the technician and another technician came. They ordered the parts that were malfunctioning and they installed it. The second tech finally solved it but it was about two months of smelling gas and it's been quite stressful. The process could be something more straightforward like you talk to the company and get a response from the company. There are no middlemen and no broken chain of relaying the problems that are reported.

I like to cook and I liked the look and feel of an industrial kitchen. I've seen Viking ranges in other apartments. I read that they are quality stoves and ranges so I purchased one. I've only had mine for a month and I like certain things about it. The stovetop is great. The heat and the flames are instantaneous and the igniters are quick. The temperature levels are really high. In that regard, it's been good to cook on. But the oven is a big down point since it's not working. It's a big part of the unit. There's something's wrong with the igniter. It's clicking a lot and it's not getting to temperature. I spoke with somebody yesterday and the interaction was fine. I felt like I achieved what I was trying to do. But I haven't heard back from anybody about making the appointment so somebody can come and look at the oven. They hire out locally.

The range is under warranty but I didn't expect that a month in, I would have any work on it. I feel like I got a machine that isn't functioning. You could buy a way less expensive stove and probably have a more reliable oven. Overall, I have a beautiful looking range that performs well on the top but in regard to the oven not working, it's not good for cooking.

The next one we got had a problem with the bottom right range igniting. Still, the range I got in the end works fine and looks good. It has four burners. The range came with our house and the quality is not very good. It is not self-cleaning, which I don't like. It cooks food. But they can upgrade the design. It’s a large oven but it's insufficient to put two standard sized cookie trays side by side. So you get this bigger oven but there's no benefit of the oven, only the benefit of the extra burners on top. We had to get an extra oven. Maybe their top-of-the-line models are better. This is an entry level model but it's still a $5,000 oven.

It's three years old and it's already had two service calls. The warranty is only two years. The oven wouldn't light and the burners on top are sporadic in their lighting. I've had cheaper ovens that are way better. I’d never buy another Viking. The service people were great to a degree. They were responsive. They came out and they charged me for the replacement pieces. They were gonna look into whether they could get a courtesy warranty on another part, but they never followed up. The people at Viking themselves who I contacted because there was a recall on some of these ovens confirmed my recall was not there. Even though I found some other parts that were not adjusted correctly at the factory and I had to pay to have the service guy readjust them, they said, “That's too bad. It’s out of warranty.”

We had the range installed about three weeks ago and we love it. This is a Series 5 model and the one thing that we don't like about it is the fact that the knobs got that little blue marker at the top and we thought it would lit up when you turn it on to show that it's on, but they don't. It's there just to show the off position. We do have the LED lights under the panel that come on, but you've gotta physically look at every knob to make sure that they're in the off position to make sure it's not on a really low simmer where you can't see the flames. They should put a light on each one of those knobs to show when you turn it on. Other than that, it’s performing well. We cook a lot on it.

I looked at some of the other models that were less expensive. Some of them were half the price but then, I looked at the consumer reviews and the people that were giving it 4 or 5 stars were only about 60%. But the Viking Range was in the high 90s. Some of these other ranges look good, but according to a lot of the customers who had bought them, they didn't function properly. So that was the main driving force for going with a Viking.

But the technicians have been excellent to work with. The guy couldn't help that our gas line was not right. He was trying to do the best he can to get back. It was delayed a week or two weeks to get it hooked up.

We wanted a happy marriage of performance and utility so we figured we'd buy Viking. One of the big things involved in my purchase was BTUs, the power of the burners. I had something which was similar but the Viking range outperformed anything that I've ever used. It's so much more efficient. I also have their microwave and we’ve had zero issues with it. We're super happy with it. I had paid for installation and delivery because that was part of the whole package. But with COVID, they couldn't do it. I just got my handyman to come and install it and it was super easy. The performance has been amazing. I love cooking on it. It's one of those free-standing ranges. However, the convection oven button blew out in about a month which kind of surprised me. I had used it once. Once I turned the convection oven on, I could not turn itself off. It was still under warranty so I did call Viking.

The people at Viking were amazing. They were like, “Yes, absolutely. It's all covered. It's a brand new appliance. That should have never happened.” The service technicians that they contracted out to, not so much. I live in Austin and it took them forever. It ran for two days straight before they could come out and turn it off. Then they told me that there was some circuit that was broken so they needed to order a part. They came out and said they had the part. Five minutes later, the guy said it was the wrong part and left. I received no communication to the point where I had to reach out to Viking. I wrote them a very lengthy email saying, “I'm not happy. This is not what I expected out of a premium product. This may not be you directly, but this is your contractor. I haven't heard from them. There's no timeline and it's been months." Finally, it got fixed after multiple trips three weeks ago. That was not super nice.

We bought a home that's a few years old, and it already had appliances in it as far as the refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Because I was doing a very large remodel in the kitchen, I needed my appliances to match. We've heard really great things about Viking in the past, I didn't think twice about it. Well, was I ever so wrong. I should have just redid the whole kitchen for the amount of money that I ended up spending on Viking.

We purchased a Series 5. Professional range, dual fuel, and with an overhead vent. Our dealer was Ferguson here in Houston. We didn't actually see it because they didn't have any on the floor but I said, “Well, we know we're going to get it, so why do I need to see it? We’ll just buy it.” We ordered at the end of December because there was a special wherein if you buy the range and the overhead vent, you would get a free microwave.

Ferguson does the installation, and there was too much back and forth with them. The guy and I were going back on whether it was a 7 or 10-inch blower hole, which is a very big difference and could be very costly if done wrong because you're cutting into an exterior wall. We ended up saying it should be a seven. But then when I was reading the notes of what I had purchased, it was saying that we needed a 10-inch hole. I called Viking and found out the salesperson at Ferguson ordered the wrong blower. Fortunately, I caught the mistake and didn't have the hole cut to 10 inches. I had them cancel the blower, reorder, and send us the correct blower.

Ferguson wanted to come out for a second pre-site before they install the appliances to make sure we had done everything that met their criteria. We put in a 110 for the dual fuel range just like what they told us. The guy even wrote on my old crown molding on the wall 110. Guys came back for a check, and it's a 240 or 220. At this point, my cabinets are done and it's going to be very difficult to run a new electrical to the wall. My electrician somehow figured it out and was able to run a new electrical. He even called to confirm that you want for it to be hardwired into the wall. He was told, “Yeah, we don't need a plug. It just gets hardwired.” So he left it capped and ready for the range to be hardwired.

Ferguson came and said, “No, it has to be plugged in.” Viking told us it could be hardwired, which I've read in the installation manual personally but Ferguson said no and left the range in the middle of my kitchen. My electrician came back out and installed the plug. It was a whole mess but that’s just the beginning. My contractor said something was wrong with the vent hood. He held up a proper level, and the vent hood was crooked. When Ferguson installed the vent hood, they used a level that was one foot-long, so it wasn't really checking the whole thing. So they came back out to re-level it.

They also ended up yanking the rubber feet off of the microwave because the hole that they measured for us was too small. The oven knobs were put on backwards so the oven wouldn’t come on. I was infuriated. I finally went back and looked at it after 30 minutes. I was like, “Oh, somebody put the knobs on wrong.” Okay, good. Oven works. I also had to pay a separate company to do ductwork because they wouldn't do it, which nobody could understand.

We had a party with some friends on the 4th of July weekend. I went to cook a standing rib roast. Standing rib roast is cooked at 200 degrees until the rib roast reaches temperature. And then, from there, I'm supposed to crank my oven to 500 and sear off that meat. Simple. I've done this on a very cheap Samsung electric range, ‘cause that's what I had at my last house. The Viking never made it to 500. We waited for over an hour and a half. I have an existing Viking oven that's 13 years old, and it gets to 450 within a matter of minutes. So I don't understand why this big oven, that's brand new, and costs tens of thousands of dollars can't get a temperature.

I called Viking, and the lady I got, Juanita, was not helpful. She said I have to have somebody come out. Ovens are finicky. My aunt has a Wolf and if you don't hit the button just so, it doesn't do what you want it to do. Juanita wasn't listening to my problem. I told her, "Maybe I don't need somebody and you just need to tell me to click the button left or something.” She would not help me. The owner of the company came and said, “Well, it reaches 350 within the 25 minutes it's supposed to. There's nothing wrong with it.” I was like, “Something is wrong because it's not getting to 500.” He said, “It gets to 350 in its normal time. But you need a new fan. Your fan’s loud.” I was like, “The thing is brand-new. How can I need a new fan?”

He told me there's a Viking chart out in the world that I've never gotten my hands on to this day, that is supposed to tell me how long it takes to go from 350 to 500. There's an interval, like every 10 degrees, it takes 15 minutes or whatever it is. But he didn't know what it was. He tried to call Viking and he couldn't get it. I kept calling and would even try to talk to other Viking representatives but they said Juanita’s my case manager. Juanita was out of the office and they still would not help me.

It took me until September to get it to work. For three months, I fought with people to get my oven to work. All they had to do was tell me, “If you would turn the oven off and turn it back on, it'll use full voltage to go to 500.” What happens on Viking ranges is, once it hits the set temperature, it uses half the voltage to maintain the temperature of the oven that you have it set. Because you change your settings to a higher temperature, it'll only use half the voltage to get to that point. That's why I've never reached 500. Horrible customer service. I was mortified by the service I received, especially after how much money I spent with Viking. Now that I know how the oven is supposed to work, I love it. Nobody could tell me that until right the second representative from Bar Appliance came out.

My experience has been horrible. I planned and did everything right. I wanted to make sure I researched. I wanted to support the country too. What I was thinking was either Miele or Viking. Miele was made by Germany while Viking was made in the US. I've built my house and everything we use is made in the USA. Pacific Sales told me to go with a Viking. I asked how was their service and they said everything is perfect. When we called them, they said it would take longer. It was about closer to Thanksgiving time. They said it takes about eight weeks to build it. Somehow, somewhere, somebody called me one day and said they had one Viking unit sitting in the warehouse. I asked if it was a return unit and the guy said no. They brought it to the house and installed it.

After a couple of months, we smelled gas. I called the gas company and they detected the whole house and found out it was the unit which was leaking the gas so they shut it off. When you turn the oven on, you'll hear a "tick, tick, tick" but it will not ignite. Then it will fill up the whole house with gas smell. When I called the service company, I told them, “The gas company canceled my gas. Can you send somebody so they can fix it?" The lady said, "Oh, we have until next week." When we told the gas company we smelled gas, they showed up within an hour because it was urgent.

The guy opened the whole unit and found out that the end of the gas igniter and all the electrical were exposed. It was sparking at the back of it instead of the front. He said it could cause an explosion so he unhooked it and said I could not use it until they replaced it. They came over and changed it but again, it started the other side. At that moment, I called Pacific Sales. I told them I bought this thing for safety. I have young children. It made me uncomfortable to use this unit. I didn't want it anymore. If they could replace it, that would be great. I didn't wanna keep calling somebody.

What I found out was that the best interest of the companies that they use for repairs is to come back because every time they come back, they're charging Viking service fee. They're the one who can make the decision whether things could be repaired or whether things could be exchanged and they always say it will not be exchanged it but it will be repaired.

They came back again and this time, the grill was not fitting. The guy bent the pipe. I said, "Isn't this pipe engineered and shouldn't have bent like the way you've done?" He said it was okay. They're supposed to quality check before they ship it. It should have been tested if it closed perfectly. So I called called Pacific Sale back. They kept giving me the runaround. The other day, I called them and said, "Every time you do it, the same thing keeps going. I'm tired of somebody coming to my house and doing this thing.” They said they were not gonna change. They were gonna send another third party company to look at it if I wanted that but they were not gonna replace it.

The griller doesn't work. You turn it on and wait. One day it works, one day it doesn't. They said somebody will contact me within 24 to 48 hours but they never contacted me. The other day, I told the lady, "You know me. I talked to you many times, right?" She said, "Yeah, yeah, Mr. **. I talked to you. Now, I actually have a report for you. My boss told me no, we're not gonna do it." I asked if he could call call me but she told me he doesn't call. I'm discussing with my attorney what are my options are. It's not right. My family's safety is important. I regret it ever buying this unit. I wish I never dealt with them. I spent closer to $60,000 for that purchase. Viking hood and Viking range are the two things I bought. The rest of it was Sub-Zero and Miele and I have no issue with those equipment.

It looks as though it will do what it's supposed to do for the next 20 years. My expectation is that because it is expensive, I'm going to have it for a long time. It is easy to clean. I'm not a big cook, but my understanding from people who do is that it's important to have the temperature consistent inside of the oven. That's one of the things that Viking is known for - even heating. So if ever I take up baking, I'll find that to be true.

We purchased a home that had been remodeled with a Viking just before our purchase. The range is kinda basic but it's really good-looking, feels high quality and heavy-duty. We have a good perception of the overall quality of it. It's fine and it's working pretty well. It needs to get a couple of the burners adjusted but that's kinda expected with a gas range.

UPDATED 12/11/2020: I've had an appliance repair person to the house 5 times since then and the cooktop is still having issues. Good luck getting a return call from Viking Customer Service. It took 3 calls (with messages left) to get a call back the last time. I just left another message today. The repairman left after replacing the burner plate and was sent a faulty switch by Viking so it's still not working. Never again will I purchase a Viking appliance. I tried to buy American and help out my fellow Americans, but it's no good. I don't know what happened to this company. I'd always heard good things about them. We have a Viking double oven and a Viking microwave as well. NEVER again.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased the 30" Induction Cooktop in April 2020. Model (VICU53014BST). Honestly we loved the way it works; boils water in less than 1 minute and cooks evenly. 2 months in, 2 of the 4 burners stopped working. Had the dealer/repair company come out and they determined it was the generator board ($2800). It's covered under warranty for 2 years, so we just have to wait. They ordered the new generator board, got it in, and came out to install it. It was defective. It's been 5 days and we haven't heard anything. I called Viking and they said I just had to wait for the repair company. My disappointment is that we paid over $4000 for a cooktop that's worked about 2 months, and then we got a defective repair part. I expected much better from Viking. I wanted to write this review to let those who are considering this brand to know what to expect. I'm not sure I would buy a Viking again. Their response was very poor and very un-empathetic.

I purchased nearly $20k of Viking appliances 9 years ago when we built our home, including a now worthless $3700 wall oven. Despite being used 3-4 times per year max, the control panel on the oven broke and I was informed they do not keep replacement parts after 7 years. So we now must buy a new $4800 replacement. I respectfully requested some consideration from the client service team given the circumstances but have not received a response despite my follow up. I frankly would expect better from a high end brand like this.

We were looking at gas range at the store and Viking was the one that we liked. It's made here in America and the quality is good. My favorite feature is the conventional oven. But when you open the oven, it has a metal sticking out that if you clean it, you'll be able to feel it and it may be dangerous. You can cut your finger. We didn't realize this until my mom was trying to clean it. So I've been trying to get them to come out and see if they can fix it, but I haven't heard from them.

My daughter has a Viking range and I've always wanted one. The parts are made in the USA and the repairs are cheaper than other high-end ranges. Also, I like the look of it. The range cooks really well. It's a professional type range. But there is a design flaw and I've had to call a repairman out twice. And this stove costs as much as a car. It's a six-burner stove and when I clean the one on the front right, that ring touches the igniter and it pushes too close to where the flame comes out. When that happens, that burner won't come on. I was gonna call Viking because they need to fix that. For me to pay all that money for that stove and for me to have to go in and wedge it apart with a butter knife when I clean it is not acceptable.

My favorite feature is the oven. I baked a cake over the weekend and it was like it came out of a bakery. It was even and it wasn't burnt. Also, the broil means broil. I put something in the broiler and I walked away to go pee, came back, and it was burnt up. I had to start over. It’s not like something where you could put it in the oven and then wait five minutes. You put it in there, you put it on broil, and in about a minute, maybe not even a minute, it's cooked. It boils water. You put the lid on and it can boil water in like two minutes. It's just wonderful. My daughter's range is about 10 years old and it still works like a brand new stove. They are forever ranges. I'm selling my house and I'm buying another Viking. I love it so much.

We bought our Viking range through Best Buy and the customer service was good over there until we started getting the appliances. They said it was like a white glove delivery. They took everything apart and installed it and it wasn't smooth. The fridge door was damaged and they swapped it but it wasn't good. They brought another one and it was exactly the same problem. We had to change it two times. They left that plastic that covered the stainless steel of the fridge. They didn't remove it well so it's hard to get it now.

Then, the first person that came to install the range said he didn't know how to install a gas range and an electrical oven so he just walked away. The other people that came to install it had the pieces they needed to bring, but they didn't have any other time to come and my husband and I had bought tickets for a concert so my husband had to miss that. I had to go by myself and we lost the money on that. And the guy was saying racist things. Also, the dishwasher came and it was completely destroyed. The door was all bent. We moved into the kitchen without the dishwasher. Then they brought a dishwasher and they installed it bad. They sent us the new people to install it and those people treated me really bad. It was a battle.

If Viking has their product represented by Best Buy, it wasn't good and unfortunately, that’s reflected on Viking's product. But when we had a little problem with our range and we had to call Viking for the warranty, which was surprising, they resolved it. They sent a company that will come cover my area and they came after I called. It was relatively fast.

We moved into this new property here and we had to choose appliances. Viking is a very well-known brand in the United States. It’s professional. There is very little in the market of professional ranges with six burners of this particular layout and it's one of the very few ones now who can offer that for domestic use. So, we wanted a Viking. The quality is very good and I’m very happy with this range, with the exception that is something with the igniters. Those are imported from possibly outside the United States and that is the problem of the installation and the security of the ignition, which is one of the only very few things that needs more attention. But my wife and I are cooking fans and we like the enormous power you can get out of this range. It is all cast iron so it is how I expect American products to be. Robust and lasting for the next 50 years.

I had a service call for a repair which was on the ignition and the service engineer repaired the problem. It was a very simple issue to resolve and now, they all ignite but the right lower burner falls off if you put it on the lowest burning rate. So, it stops. If the frame is not stable, it disappears. It is quenched and then it tries to ignite but it doesn’t come on back anymore. So gas is continuously streaming without being ignited. That was after the engineer fiddled around to see if he could get this problem solved and I haven’t had the time to call to Viking to report this problem. I need that engineer to come out again.

The first one couldn't give us an answer, and the second one looked at it for about two minutes and said that the issue we were having was completely normal. Viking is a well-known brand and I'm the manager of the property who call them for maintenance and service. We got the Viking ranges when we did a big renovation. The designer was the one who specified the appliances and he brought up what would be the best fit for the property. Appearance-wise, the Viking range is great and that's my most favorite part. But we've been in a pickle regarding the stirring iron thing that goes on top that got rusted. We called customer service to figure it out warranty-wise and although Viking seems to be interested in helping, it fell into a bit of a limbo because the contractor ordered appliances much before they moved them to the property. I was the one who has to call and try to coordinate the necessary replacement and I was told that warranty-wise, we are out of warranty, which didn't help. And to date, the problem is still not resolved.

We're also a little confused of the temperature control of the stove that goes on and off, on and off, then it stops. According to the clients, it was pretty annoying and they thought that the thing was defective. But apparently, it is a feature that will prevent high gas consumption and unnecessary heating. Viking's reps walked me through that when I was going over the warranty with them. Other than that, everything else is just fine.

The griddle is awesome and my husband loves all of the burners. It’s also pretty to look at. I ordered it through a catalog and when it was delivered, the delivery people left it outside of my house. They said they would come back to bring it in the house. Then they said it was damaged. I tried to have it picked up by them, but they wouldn’t do it. They said my husband signed that it was okay. My sons had to bring it into the house and when they brought it in, they broke one of the knobs off. But otherwise, the stove was not damaged. I had to call Viking to get a new part and they did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend Viking.

We received our range and it was installed in our home. Everything worked fine for a day. Then, the oven stopped working. We called for a service technician to come out. They came out, did some adjustments, and nothing worked. He couldn't get it to fix so he said that we got to order new parts. I told him that it is a brand-new range and I asked why we need to order brand-new parts. So, it arrived faultily.

The parts were back-ordered for probably a month. We spoke to our regional representative, trying to figure out what the holdup was. Of course, it was blamed on COVID and I understood that. Then the parts came and the service technician installed them. Everything was working when he was here. He left that evening. I went to make dinner and put a chicken in. An hour later, the oven was lukewarm. It didn't maintain its flame. The next morning, before I called them, I thought to see what was going on. It would go through its clicking cycle to ignite. It’s a liquid propane system. And we ordered the correct range.

That morning, it went through its cooking cycle like it always does and didn't light. We tried it again and then a fireball came out the bottom of it. I called the technician and told them what happened. I also called our regional representative and told her what happened. The technician was busy and couldn't come out ‘til the next week. Then he came back out and looked at it. He called the Viking service line and went through all of the suggestions that they made. He could get the small oven to light, but could not get the bigger side to light, and now has ordered another part. I think it's the igniter or something like that is not working. I just got a phone call this morning that we're on the schedule two weeks from now to get it repaired. Right now, I’m not very happy.

We can use the top, but we can't do anything in the oven. It's pretty frustrating, especially since this is supposed to be top-of-the-line. So, basically, we have a brand-new piece of metal sitting in our kitchen that we can't use to its full extent. The most frustrating thing is we're not getting any discount or benefit. We tell our representatives what's going on. We even said that we wanted another one because what if something happens to this one again? I don't know why that wasn't offered, again, ‘cause it's a brand-new thing and it's faulty when it arrived. I understand it's a big piece. It's not like something that I brought home in a bag. It involved shipping and people installing it. But we're kind of stuck as a consumer. Our technician is great. They're highly recommended. It’s no fault of them. It's the product and these aren't cheap. Essentially this thing is the price of a car.

Viking always had a very high-quality name and it's one of the higher-end appliances that you can buy. Aside from that, I'm a big person that grew up where you didn't rely on other countries for anything and with Viking, everything is made here in the USA. It provides jobs for people here and the quality isn't junk. Compared to that, I've been seeing a lot of things deteriorate in products that were imported into the country.

I went onto the Viking website a couple of times and looked at the different models as well as some of the specs. I shopped around a little bit but Viking is one of those products with prices that are pretty even across the board. There might be a sale every now and then but I didn't see one dealer offering it any cheaper than another dealer, which a lot of times is a sign that they don't have to reduce the prices because they know it is a good product. And if we want it, then we're gonna have to pay for it.

So, I decided to buy Viking appliances and I ended up going with a company out of New York City called AJ Madison, who I found out is a major appliance distributor for all kinds of different appliances places like Home Depot and Lowe's. They were very accommodating and I paid over $16,000 for the appliances that I ordered from them. They kept them in storage for close to six months or more before I actually needed them and gave me some breaks on shipping cost on some of the stuff that I found out later I needed that I hadn't ordered the first time. They gave me a discount on the shipping because I ordered them in New York and had to have them shipped to Texas.

I also bought the five-year warranty on all the appliances and at the time, they had a special where if you bought four items, you got one free. Plus, there was some kind of a rebate going on which I found somewhat attractive. I got a rebate check for $750 on all the appliances, so that was a good incentive, considering the amount of appliances that I bought. But even if there hadn't been a rebate, I still would've bought Viking.

But then, I had a little bit of an issue in trying to submit the rebate information on Viking's website. I did not have the serial number for the chimney hood that I ordered and I called AJ Madison because they had a lot of them on file from their inventory. They gave me a number, but when I went to the website to fill out the rebate information, for some reason, that number was not recognized. I ended up calling customer support hotline because I couldn't get it to actually go through and the reps I talked to were great and very helpful.

In the end, I spent three times the allowance that was given to us by the builder for the whole package on the kitchen appliances and I did that because this may be the last house I ever build and I wanted to get something that would last, would be reliable, and would give my wife some pleasure in cooking on it because she likes to cook. So far, we have not used the appliances much but after we ran the dishwasher the first time, I noticed that for some reason, it had a plastic cover at the bottom of it that's like a kickplate. And when I opened the door up, it would not go all the way down. I had to remove that kickplate in order to get the door to go all the way down and I don't know if it just wasn't installed correctly. But I'll try to schedule an appointment with the warranty company to see if they can come out there and take a look at it.

Other than that, the other appliances were fine and as far as the beauty, the feel, and the quality, the saying, "You get what you pay for," holds true with the Viking products. Hopefully, we're gonna get many years of enjoyment out of the appliances that we got and if we have a problem with them, we should be able to get them repaired. I wouldn't have a problem if there'd be an embargo with China and it's the only place where the special component that the stove needs in order to run can be found. I also hope that Viking will have those parts here in this country and stock, and any replacement parts will be easy to get.

Besides that, I hope my review will not only help Viking but also encourage more people to buy American made and not just order something through Amazon. When you do that and you try to return something, you end up not having customer support. You end up pulling a phone number where it's a revolving loop and you rarely ever get to talk to a human. I'd buy stuff from Amazon, then I'd get it and I'd find out that it was not the right one or it wouldn't fit. And 90% of the time, I didn't even bother to try to return what I bought because I knew the effort, the time, and the frustration that it'd take me to try and send it back, get a refund or an exchange. It's just not worth it.

We purchased our apartment last year and everything was installed already. It’s all Viking. We’re quite happy with the equipment. Everything is working smoothly and the range is great although we have an issue with the noise. It took me really long to have the technician come over, which was probably a few months but he came and looked at it. He said that it was a manufacturer issue so, he put a few bolts on the back. The noise is still there but it’s less. I like that the microwave is spacious and then, my stove is good. The oven is okay too, even though I prefer to have an even bigger oven. The fridge with a French door freezer is big too but I will benefit more if the freezer compartment would be larger, but it’s okay. We still fit it. We’re just a family of five people but we need more space.

I've seen Viking Ranges in the past in the stores and we decided to go with them because of the quality of their products and name recognition. We got a commercial pipe stove and we like the way it looks. We do a lot of cooking. We bought the range at National Appliance up in Wilmington, Delaware and they were very helpful and very knowledgeable. They walked us through the different competitive brands such as Monogram, Wolf, and Viking. They showed us the pros and cons of each one, and what other consumers that purchased them liked over what model over the other, which led us back to the Viking. So far, our range is everything I thought it would be and the glides in the oven racks are our favorite feature. We also try to maintain the oven and clean-up has not been an issue.

I had a friend that had a Viking range. It was reliable and I also like the way it looks. The Viking range was good, once I got it fixed. My favorite feature would be how quickly I can cook a meal, the burners get hot and the oven stays relatively warm. The feature that I do not like is on the oven, how the temperature resets. If it gets up to 400 degrees, and you’re baking a cake, and then, it stops. Once it reaches 400 degrees, a fan comes on, it’s like I have to cook the cake a little bit longer. I dealt with my home warranty company. I think it was the igniter switch but it took of months to get the part ordered. But that was the only bad part.

Viking's reputation stands out. Their price point was okay as well. We use the propane gas model. Their service has been good. We had a couple of bad items that came in with it, but they fixed it via third party. Ultimately they did everything they could. Viking sends out books that are probably inch-thick that tells us what to do. I think they’d be better off if they do a follow-up call with their clients to go over it and walk through since you spend $20,000 on a range.

But I thought that it was out of my price range. I wondered where could I get something of equal quality but without all the bells and whistles, which was why I bought a basic Viking range with no electronics, just the straight goods. We dealt with Trail Appliance and liked them very much. The salesman there had the very same Viking range and was really positive about it. They also offered a free set of pots and pans once you bought your Viking range, but I’ve contacted them twice, and nobody has gotten back to me about it. That bothered me. Other than that, we couldn’t be happier with the experience. The range's quality is excellent. My favorite thing is how hot it could get and how low it could go without disruption.

We like the quality of Viking. They had a wall oven, the French door design, and both my husband and I fell in love with it. We compared it to the only other product out there that I'm aware of that had a French door wall oven, which was GE, and it didn't compare as far as quality. We've had our Viking installed in November of last year and we have had several issues, but it they are all being resolved. The wall oven had a heating issue where it took too long to heat up. There was a panel that just got replaced this week, and that is not working. And then on the range, the glass in the oven door slid around a little bit. It took a while to get this issue resolved, but we have just found out they're gonna replace the entire range.

I work with Gygi, the company we purchased them through, and they've been awesome. The repair company, Kimball, has been dealing with us as far as the repair. They've been a little bit slow to get back to us because they say Viking was slow too. But as soon as I contacted Gygi and told them, "Hey, something's not getting handled here," they got involved and it that was resolved within a day.

The range has been fine. I haven't used the oven too much because we use the wall oven. We were having issues with it taking too long to warm up, but that's now been resolved. Another thing I love about the range is underneath the burners, they have this whole big shelf you can pull out and clean. It catches everything that might have fallen while you're cooking and that is awesome because all you got to do is pull it out and clean it. It's the same thing on the inside on the range. They have the whole bottom piece. You can lift it right out of the oven and clean it by hand. So, that's pretty awesome too. I want it to look like it was brand new forever.

This seemingly well-designed professional oven fits nicely with contemporary decor, seems well insulated and well made. Some things to be aware of:

    > First, Viking opted to screen labels rather than etch them. As a result, in a few short years of cleaning, the labels are disappearing. This is flaw on their range as well.

    > Second, the ovens suffer from a significant design flaw, or feature depending upon your viewpoint. In an effort to quickly raise the oven to the desired temperature the oven engages the broiler element and sets the bottom element to 1000 degrees Kelvin (I'm kidding, but it's at full power/red hot). Viking calls this "Rapid Ready". Your baked goods will be punished severely if you put them into the oven even moments before the temperature light goes out.

    > The 'Convection' setting utilizes a back-of-oven element and a fan to distribute the heat. Theoretically, this is better for more sensitive baked goods but our experience has been disappointing. Even at temperatures 25 degrees less than stated in recipes the convection oven tends to burn the tops of baked goods.

Overall, our conclusion is that these ovens are finicky and the differentiating features are disappointing or undesirable all together.

I’ve only had it since November and I probably cooked on it three months out of all these months I’ve had it. It’s not really good. Viking sent someone to look at it and they worked on it one time, replaced some things, and got it going. But something else went wrong and maintenance people were sent to check it but Viking refused to pay for the service.

The guys who worked on my unit said Viking just needs to send me a new one because mine never worked. We’ve spent a ton of time and I haven’t been able to use my range. It’s still sitting there. Viking got feedback from me and I’m still waiting on them to call me back. They won’t return my phone calls. I used my unit when it worked but I waited two months to fix it the first time. Pacific Kitchen and Home was great. It's a Best Buy thing. And then, we've had it serviced once and there were just problems getting parts, and part of it is where we are. There's no local place around here, so we had to call a place that was a bit further away. The COVID19 issue is one of the issues that people were suffering from because the dealer was closed for a period of time. When the parts came in, they were wrong and they had to get another part. But that was the only issue we had.

The combination of the Viking range and the hood is just excellent because they work seamlessly together. Everything about the unit is very nice. I love the sealed burners. I like the fit and finish. I like that it's above the floor and it has the different types of burners. There are things that I'd like to see different, but those are minor.

I'm very happy with my Viking range. I have the 8-burner range with the dual oven, all-gas. But the broiler comes on and shuts off after three minutes. So, they're gonna put a new one in to fix it. Other than that, it has convections, the lights, the temperature control, the small one and the big one, the lights and the knobs. I truly like everything about the range and I will not want anything else.

Our Viking Dishwasher is my problem. It has been repaired four times now. They came out as soon as they could. They fixed it and then they had to come back, then they fixed it again. Either they are not very knowledgeable about the dishwasher or the dishwasher really has a serious problem. First, the mechanic was out two times for the lock. Then the dishwasher ran all night twice and the kitchen was really hot and then they put a new electric board, which was underneath the dishwasher. Now, every once in awhile, when I close the door and I want to put the program in, whether pot scrub or normal wash or what, it doesn't come on. You have to do it two or three times. There’s a lot of good parts, and as far as the performance, the heating elements of it, especially the oven, it's very good. It heats up really fast and I really like the feature. However, the main issue I have with the range I bought is the door being so heavy. It has different panels and then those panels are latched to each other. I’ve been having issues with the door not latching all the way because it’s so heavy that it’s coming apart. And since the door doesn’t close all the way, now the heat is escaping. I had a technician come out here twice already who tried to repair that and rescue that back in there, but now it’s the same issue happening. They won’t replace the door. I’ve called everywhere and nobody gave me a satisfactory solution.

At first I called from the retailer I bought it from. It was right at the end of the warranty period. So the first time they came out here, it was still under warranty. They repaired it and no charge. And then, six to eight months later the same thing happened again and the guy came out here again. So, he wrote it up and apparently they didn’t want to replace the door. They just repaired it. So, we’re having the same problem. And then I tried to call Viking directly and then I had under the warranty extended warranty go to waste. If you pay a lot for something you have high expectation and high quality, but it doesn’t seem like it. And then we call and don’t get the resolution that we expected. For that reason, I would never buy a Viking again.

Viking is a major brand and it has a good reputation as a few others. And I like the look. It had what I wanted. I wanted gas for a burner and an oven and this model fit the occasion. We went to a dealer that carried their brand and we had a great guy. Everything went very well. The gentleman had to order it and he was nice enough to put it in his warehouse. Everything worked out well.

We’re happy with the unit. We had an old Wedgewood that was well over 60 years old and it’s a big upgrade from what we had. It’s a compact, four-burner with a little space in the middle. It would be nice to have at least one burner that's flat, a large surface for simmering. But other than that, it works very well. One of their nice little features is the little light. We use that as a night light. We put it on and it does the kitchen just perfect. It’s designed very well. We bought the backsplash and that generates the heat up and out, forward, so our hood catches everything very nice.

There’s a plate that crosses over the open space and a screw fell out and the plate was loose. We took the plate and the screw and we called Viking. They sent a gentleman out and he fixed it. It was installed and everything was good, but the screw started backing out and it chewed up like the porcelain on the inside of the door. We had that replaced and he put a little stuff on there to keep the screw tight so it wouldn’t back out. So far, it's been good. Also, we spotted that on the inside bottom part of the insulation strip, like the O-ring of sorts that goes around the glass at the face of the oven, the rubber was sticking out and that was fixed. He put it on correctly. The gentleman was very good.

Then they had a person who came out and examined the range. After that, they exchanged it. The process took a week or so and it was very quick. Other than that, my Viking range is wonderful and it works very well. It has really nice features, too. Plus, it’s electric and I really enjoy it. My son is a chef but he would never cook on electric and he razes me about it all the time.

We wanted to have a name brand appliance for our home and the cost point for Viking Range was slightly better. It has a noisy fan that runs after you run the stove and you turn it off and you’re having dinner and this thing just keeps running and running. There’s no adjustment to it and there’s no way to bypass it. It’s a deficient feature and that is a cause of some significant dissatisfaction. Other than that, I like it. It has good quality and I'm pretty happy with it.

We’re 9,000 feet and the gas nozzles were the wrong size for this altitude. The local guy from East River Appliance Repair was completely clueless and had really no value. I was ready to return the thing and I was really unhappy with it. But Viking was willing to bring a guy four hours from Denver up to Crested Butte, Colorado and fix a problem that the local guy was clueless about. The guy up from Denver was a real pro. He knew what he was doing and fixed everything. He said that the door was not primarily damaged and it could be adjusted. He saved the day for Viking. I thought the range was a defective unit and this guy was able to correct everything and showed that it wasn't defective. I’m pretty happy with the customer service I got.

We've owned a couple of ranges in the past and Viking has generally had pretty good reviews and the price point was reasonable for the quality of the range. The dealer was definitely knowledgeable about the products and making recommendations and accommodating schedules. Overall, it was a good experience. We’re generally happy with the quality of the unit. The burners are what we like most about it and the speed of which things kinda heat up. But the one thing that we would want to see improve with is the oven. The temperature doesn't seem to be as consistent as we hope it would be.

I’ve had multiple problems with the range. It doesn’t go to temperature. It doesn’t cook food the way it should. It takes very long to heat up. The top of the stove is very difficult to clean. I would never buy it again. I had the rack inside my oven replaced. If you're going to pull it out, it has so much play and wiggle room. When you have food on it, it dips down because there is so much play. When I replaced it, they told me it would probably do it again and they were right. It did. So I am not truly a fan. It’s not worth the money you spent. Also, their customer service portion really needs to be a little bit better. But I do like how the top of the stove cooks. I like the output there. I also like the look of it.

Had the dreaded 6 red flashes in 2016, on a part (filter control board) that is worth 2K to replace + labor. Same thing happened again 2020. Viking will not do anything about the multiple failures. For an appliance that is ~7K to begin with having to deal with a multi-thousand dollar repair every few years is completely unacceptable. I do like the induction cooktop, but am sorely unimpressed with the reliability of Viking.

I bought the beautiful cobalt blue, 2-oven, 8-burner, dual-fuel range in 2018 during our rebuild, after losing our house in the Tubbs Fire of 2017. I love my range, it's a real beauty, but I sure wish I could have configured the burners differently. ALL of the most powerful burners are along the front edge of the stove. The medium burners and the smallest burner are on the back, harder to reach even if more commonly used. If only they had put a couple of the most powerful burners (you can never use any of them full-blast, they are way too powerful) in the back and put the less powerful ones upfront that you would use every day! Why put the smallest burner, for gently melting or sautéing something, way in the back where it's hard to reach and keep an eye on? Ugh!

We saw the Viking range at Ferguson and there was a cardboard on display when we bought it that said that there was a temperature probe but Viking has discontinued that and didn’t think it was a good idea to update their literature. Even on the literature with the new unit that we got, it was still mentioning that same thing but we can’t use it because there’s no connection for it. And that is not acceptable. We bought the unit because we wanna have something that we could check the temperature of what’s cooking in the oven with and now we don’t have anything. I’ve asked them to get back on me and the representative for the area here hasn’t yet. I need to have a way to get temperatures inside the oven and I was expecting to have what I paid for or what was on the information that was on the oven.

Then, we had a unit that was defective when we got it so we got that returned. The new unit seems to function better. When we’re cooking, it has enough power, which is good. We like the 23,000 BTU burners. The center, when we can get it enough to click on most of the burners, is good and that works well. The broil works really well in the oven but the bake doesn’t work really well. And the convection seems to be working okay, although we haven’t figured out the differences yet of the true con and the regular con.

But we are still having issues with the burners, which click at low intensity when you have a hot pan and so on. The response I got from one tech was that the gas pressure was not okay, which is not true, and it is not due to the pressure line. I talked about it with the person that came in and installed the line. We put a new pressure regulator and so on because of the new line that we had to build in for this and that is working fine. We’re also having issues with the bake mode where the top element seems to be heating way too much than what would be expected. We can’t put anything on the top or close the top shelves because otherwise, everything burns on bake where we don’t mean to use convection. We were hoping that there would be an adjustment that can decrease the temperature on the top element on the bake. No one came back to us on that. We’re still waiting for these things.

Also, when we got the unit, the convection fan was loosened during transportation. When we started the convection, the convection would rattle like its helix was touching metal or whatever. The tech took the housing off and tightened up the convection fan screws. That took care of that and it hasn’t happened since the technician came.

The unit is beautiful when you buy it but as soon as we start using it, the copper pots of the burners are extremely difficult to clean. As soon as something falls on it, it kinda stains. We’ve tried all the tricks that they have in their manual including the ammonia and some salt but that still leaves stains. Also, the base of the burners is already coming off after we cleaned them three times and that also was a big disappointment. The choice of the material to cover this is probably not the best. We bought this semi-commercial unit because we cook a lot and the durability is not what I expected for $12,000. The people that we bought it at advised us against buying it because of the issue that they had. And we went away and bought it because we figured Viking has been trying to face these problems for some years and they must have seen the problems. But they clearly haven’t.

We first had trouble with our fridge drawers - replaced them in approx 2017 as they were cracking - all this at a whopping $300 for just 2 large drawers!

In 2019 we experienced the same thing again and after duct taping them, we decided to complain to the manufacturer..They offered us 15% off new replacements which by this time all of them, 6 drawers and 2 butter covers were a mess. We ordered them $800+...NOW our stove was giving us problems..Two burners were not working..After checking with Viking, we enlisted the help of a repairman (65km away). The next saga did me in for Viking. After the first visit at a cost of $300, nothing could be done until we ordered parts..2nd visit parts installed - nothing $1200+ and now we are left with the final remedy of paying $2,200 (yes, you read it right) to install a new mother board!!! So if anyone is looking for a "half-working" stove....

I found out about Viking 20 years ago and back then, I couldn't afford it, but I've always heard the great reviews on the quality. I remodeled my kitchen in October and it was a good time to do it. After two months of purchase though, I ran into an inconvenience. Some time in December, we were trying to bake for the very first time and when we turned the knob on the oven, it broke from edge to edge, in the middle. It might have been some type of factory defect, but things happen. We had not even used the oven, but I called in, and it was under warranty.

Viking has a third party customer service where I called their number, and they did it with just the serial number. They assigned a technician to come, but they mailed the part first to my home.Once I got the part, I called them back and let them know that the part has arrived. We then scheduled the technician to come by and replace it. Since then, the knob has been a little tight. I can still make it function, but it doesn't run smoothly like the rest of the knobs. Another thing is that, the very first burner on the right-hand side is the one with the most flame. It's supposed to be the most intense flame on the range and it makes a blowing noise when it's on. This is the only burner that does that. Still, I love the quality.

The latest one is the Broil unit which costs more than 1000$ to replace. The other expensive repair was the left Induction unit which was 1500$ to replace and repair. I suppose the was a known problem with this since Viking agreed to replace the part but I had to pay for labour. Changed the oven door seal at 100$ also out of my pocket. It is a nice design works ok (not really more than others) but worst I have ever had. At that price it should have been really reliable. Before this I had standard ranges at around 1500$ and I gave them (2 different makes) to my kids many years ago and they are still working great with NO parts replaced whatsoever. I think my guess that paying more for quality really does stand. Is it worth paying much more just for the looks???

In the summer of 2018 we purchased a Viking range model VGR5606GQSS, serial number 081018C10297709. It is a 60” 6 burner, double oven, grill and griddle gas range. We purchased it from Fred’s Appliance in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho for our all new kitchen remodel. We have a large family was and this was chosen to provide for our needs especially on holidays. This is where the nightmare begins. This is a short synopsis, as I am an aerospace engineer I have hundreds of pictures of the failures, parts replaced from service calls and lots of documentation, emails, Viking parts book, if anybody wants any of them I will be happy to provide it.

    1) Shortly after installation, October 2018, the first thing that was noticed was the smell of gas, not a huge leak but noticeable every time walking past the unit. Not long after that we discovered the right side broiler did not work. Now comes Thanksgiving with about 40 people assembled for a happy time. Well what do you know the left oven was not working and we had both ovens running with something in each. 2) On the subsequent service call form Fred’s the first tech did not even know how to work on the unit and had a terrible customer service attitude nor did he even bring a gas sniffer or a way to move a 750 lb stove. We were also told by somebody at Fred’s that some gas leak is normal. Also moving the 750 lb. stove alone he damaged the floor under it. Nothing was fixed on this call.

    3) The second service request was for the same 3 items, Gas leak inside someplace. Right broiler will not stay on. Left oven acts up sometimes. 4) We did not see any service personnel again until March 6th 2019. A whole team from Fred’s showed up and managed to verify there was in fact a gas leak. It was caused by an improperly installed ferrule on a gas fitting on a regulator on the right side of the oven from the factory. Two issues of concern here, the first the leak was fixed not by replacing the faulty tube but tightening it really tight, the second if you look at the end of the tube it has been cut and not deburred allowing small aluminum chips to possibly enter the regulator and jam it up.. The second is that workmanship at the factory is substandard. Not only was this not checked for leakage at the factory, this leak would have been easily detected at the factory. Pictures available on request.

    5) So now we have only one of three items repaired. We still have a right broiler issue and a left oven issue. A note here when the left oven stops working the LED by the control flashes 4 times then pause and repeat and nobody not even at Viking knows what that means. The temperature control is made by ELAN Industries, and I believe the part number is EC021006, again pictures are available on request.

    6) Now along to the service call on 6-26-19 hopefully (but did not) solve the oven issue(s). Here we are one year later and the left oven is doing the same thing. On 6-26-19 a team from Fred’s arrived again in a convoy of service trucks. This time their goal was to replace the ignitor boards on each oven hoping that would work. The boards are made by Invensys Controls P/N 100-01720-00, (recently acquired by Schneider Electric). They are a microprocessor based board using the PIC16C58B microcontroller by Microchip. They are 120V powered and receive one of two command signals from the oven thermostat telling it to open the gas valve and ignite the gas on either the oven or the broiler on that oven. Each oven has one. Again pictures and schematic available on request. This has resolved the right broiler issue but NOT the left oven failing and not restarting again until it is cool and giving the unknown 4 flashes code.

    7) We were told by one of the service technicians on one of the visits from Fred’s that if we wanted quality we should have chosen a Wolf range. There is something telling about that statement and I have heard it from others. 8) Now it is getting close to Thanksgiving 2019 for another large family gathering. Brent from Viking and Fred's appliance came out Mid November 2019 and replaced the oven controls and changed the orifice on the left oven to a smaller diameter. This did stop the four flashes of the LED but caused a natural gas smell whenever the left oven was on for an extended period of time, it took about 30 minutes and gradually got worse through the house. This triggered a service call from Brennan at Northern Appliance to come out and verify the gas smell, which he did and reported it to Viking.

Later just before Christmas Brennan made another service call to change the gas orifice on the left oven, back to a larger one, (the right oven works great). This solved the gas smell, however Christmas dinner was a disaster as the left oven 4 flash issue was back and we could not use the left oven as it would not stay running. 9) Now we initiated another service call over a year and the left oven still will not work correctly while the right one does and the parts list shows them both having the same controlling parts. So I received this e-mail from Jeff the service manager at Fred’s Appliance. They can’t fix it so they are taking it back and refuse to sell us anything now or in the future no matter what brand.

"I’ve been tasked with informing you that the manufacturer, and Fred’s appliance are working together to refund your range and the 8” back-guard accessory purchased with it. We will make arrangements for an installation company to work with your schedule to remove the range, and we will credit you back the full purchase price for those items upon return. I’ve attached a copy of your invoice and the total to be reimbursed is $14,181.69. The manufacturer and Fred’s appliance management have concluded that it’s not within our best interest to ship out a replacement range because it’s likely that a replacement will not address your on-going concerns. We are initiating return documents and an independent installation company will be in contact soon. Thank you, Jeff"

The controls are mechanical and connected to a electronically controlled board that fails after short use. The oven does not retain temperature and takes extremely long time to heat up. The cooking time is much too complicated for normal use and even the clock and timer are no simple task. To top it all, it is price at double the price of a Kitchenaid or a GE that do a much better job. I would stay away from Viking, save some money the agony.

We were looking for those high-end ranges and we looked at the model. We liked the self-closing feature the most and the other brand name didn’t have it, which was why we chose Viking. The quality of the range is not bad but it doesn’t have a lot of features. Compared to my old one, which is about $3,000, the Viking range doesn’t have a timer, a warm-up feature and a clock. We had an issue with it in the beginning but we asked for service and the guy fixed it for us, but I don’t know if it is a strong range. Also, once I roast or bake something, the grease spreads out and I have to clean the oven very hard every time. Mine is a 7 Series Viking Range and it doesn’t have self-cleaning, but my old one has that.

Some repair people come with knowledge and some have different opinions. I did not buy the Viking refrigerator from the same dealer, so I did not register my refrigerator but they have a warranty for 10 years. The handle came off after less than a year of using the refrigerator and it did not come with any instruction to fix the handle but I figured out how to fix it. After I fixed it, we saw something wrong with the Viking Range. So, we asked the guy if they have a special tool for that or just a screw. He said no but I figured it out myself.

Viking is a good brand. And we saw it at Best Buy, and we liked what we saw. The salespeople were very professional. The quality of our range is pretty good, but we’re a little upset with a couple of things. For the price of the range that we bought, it’s a pretty high-end range, and the burners are all stained up with the heat. It doesn’t very look appealing. As soon as we had it installed, we had trouble with one of the burners not lighting up, and we’re still having the same issue. Other than that, we like it. I like that it’s a six burner. And I like the BTU part of it the most.

The Viking Range was installed in our home and it’s been very high-quality. My favorite feature is the even heating, baking, and the temperature control. We did have to have someone come and service it though. The issue was that one of the sensors for starting the oven was incorrectly tuned so it wouldn’t catch to start. We contacted a certified service provider that was in our area that we found using their tool on the website. The technician came and fixed that fairly easily. And it was also very easy to contact the technician. And they were very helpful in terms of organizing the service. It was also still under warranty. Overall, we were very satisfied with the appliance.

In the kitchen, we have very high-end fixtures so we wanted something that was comparable to the other pieces that we had chosen. Viking has a really good reputation for being high quality and the pieces are pleasing to look at. We've been using it for a month and everything has been great. The stove works well. The only issue that we had that was disappointing was that the color is different because the dishwasher and the range are placed next to each other. It's very drastic, the difference in color. When I called to let them know about the color difference, the people that I spoke to were very kind. They sent someone out and that rep was very nice. He took pictures. It was a really nice experience. We, very quickly, got a phone call saying they were going to change it, which was a relief. I was worried that they were not going to exchange it and we were gonna be stuck with that drastic color difference. So, I was very happy that they decided to change.

We chose Viking Ranges because of the quality, but we’ve had several issues so far. We've had a tech out here for service three or four times and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't igniting like it should. It was clicking a lot. At first, he told me the gas wasn't getting to it quick enough but my husband took a lighter and turned it on and it just ignited. So that was not the case. The tech was not very knowledgeable on that. Also, the grates are chipping. On a high-end appliance like that, it doesn't make me too satisfied with the quality, although they sent us replacements for the grates. If we've had this much trouble after three months, I'm afraid it's going to give us trouble after the warranty runs out. I love the way it cooks but I’m not gonna recommend it to anyone.

We had a Viking Range installed in 2006 and we've never really been happy with it. The temperature control in the oven stopped working. So, we went to our local appliance store and looked for alternatives but then our appliance store operator, B&B Appliance in Escondido, told us that Viking is much better now. We really liked how Viking fit our needs. We wound up getting fooled twice. When our new Viking Range was delivered, we turned the convection fan on and it was rattling against the grill as it was badly installed.

Thus far, temperature control of the oven has been absolute crap. We've done two big cooks on it, a turkey and a roast. After about an hour, the oven temperature seems to have dropped by 100 degrees. Also, we turned on the range burners the first time we used it and those cracked off showing us rust. While it's running, it makes a clank as the temperature goes up, sounding like a contraction or expansion of steel. Additionally, the convection fan switch on the front panel failed. We had another tech come out and put another switch in and that failed within an hour while the tech was still here. This Viking has cost me a fortune.

Called Viking and was told it has been discontinued since 2016. The customer service person kept telling me that sales had specials going on so I should contact them. Asked her if she would replace a $6k range because a $100 part wasn't available. This is totally unacceptable. The company should have an solution for this other than "check eBay and Craigslist". For Pete's sake, go to China and get some built. So, buyer beware. A good company would not do this for a product that is not that old nor inexpensive.

We have a relatively new Viking wall oven that smokes terribly. We have used self-cleaning and then wiped out the residue, and it smokes terribly on the next use. We're not talking cooking odor; we get smoke so thick and fast that our fire alarm (not just smoke alarms) goes off and we are called by the monitoring company. We've had Miele wall ovens in other houses with none of this trouble at all. The Viking is poorly designed in some manner. Maybe it greatly overheats, but there is no way to tell because there is no temperature gauge and no reliable indication (other than a flaky and useless light) that the oven is maintaining the set temperature. Unless Viking can fix or replace this terrible appliance, we are going to get rid of it and never buy Viking again.

Viking Ranges had long-term warranty and they had reviews of how it cooked meat, so I chose them. There were multiple dealers so purchasing it wasn’t too difficult of a process. But you'd need some plumber to put it in because it was so heavy. It was lifted not from the bottom and I don’t think they did a particularly good job of it. There was that kind of lip that came out and too often that was used, that was not reinforced enough to handle the weight or sometimes the door was also used incorrectly. It should not to do it that way, but it looked like a handle and people invariably lift and pull on it.

In the two years and a half that I've had it, we've had the thermometer broke and we’ve had that replaced, but it was under warranty. We called them and then they called us back and then they made a stress test, but eventually we got through it. The process wasn’t super-fast, but we’re easy-going, so we managed around it.

I'm not really happy with the baking. It’s inconsistent. And with the stuff that got on the burners and spilled on it, you just can’t get them cleaned after a while. This is sort of the nature of the stove itself. There are certain parts that are more difficult than others. Everything that we’ve read about it is pretty much true and that has been consistent. So, we knew what we were getting, that it was gonna be expensive, that it didn’t cook real evenly, but it still looks cool and they have a roadmap of how to get it better.

Ultimately, everything with Viking went well. It was kinda frustrating there for a little while. It was tough to figure out who I should be dealing with because they do their service calls through another company. It was confusing to know how I should be kinda contacting. I bought my range from an appliance dealer where in the book that came with it, it said, “You have a two-year warranty from date of purchase.” And so, it was within the two years. I submitted to have it serviced and they said it wasn’t valid because it was more than five years after the manufacturing date. I had to really fight multiple people on that. So, it was kind of a pain. But they said, “You know what? We squared it away. We figured it out.” And they honored it and then they came and eventually serviced it and it's working great now.

The issue was the fan that removes the heat away from the oven was faulty. So, it wouldn’t get rid of all the necessary heat and it would get too hot in that area, and the safety mechanism would shut off the oven. It couldn’t be above a certain temperature for more than like 30 minutes or it would shut itself off because the heat wasn’t being taken away efficiently enough.

The oven itself is great. Even the fact that it broke, I understand things happen like that. It was just a pain dealing with their customer service. It was really frustrating. And one of the reasons I bought it was for that warranty, and then when I thought they weren’t gonna honor it, I was not happy. But I love my Viking. It's accurate, it does everything I need, and it looks great. Everything about it is great. So, I really like the oven.

Unfortunately the microwave hood ventilation is not designed for heavy cooking as it is the smallest blower that we offer. It is recommended for light cooking.

We were in the market for new appliances. We were at a store, and we liked the look of the Viking range and everything about it. So, we went that route. The quality of the range is great. Everything is what we expected. However, it took a long time to receive our product. I’m not sure if it was because of Canadian standards because we are in Canada, but the process of receiving it was quite long and dragged out. I’m not sure if that was the retailer or Viking, too. Also, I am not sure if there is a light for pre-heat because I don't see that on there, so I just guess as to when the oven's ready. But, other than that, everything has been fine.

The range has an oven light that turns on when the oven is turned on. Once the oven reaches temperature the light will go out, and then cycle on and off throughout the cooking process.

Our Viking range was installed around the end of August to the beginning of September, and it's really convenient. We got it for the quality and it has been awesome so far. I just want to have somebody come and tweak it because some of the burners seem to not hold the flame steady. I've also tested the oven and I'm really impressed with how it heats fast and holds the temperature.

I’m leaving this review after 10 years of using the Viking Double Oven because the part needed to repair my unit is obsolete. Yes, a top-of-the-line Viking Built-in Oven part manufactured 10 years ago is no longer available! Save your money and go with any other brand. Viking is supposed to built to last - at least that’s the image they give you. So how is that a 10-year old, $6,500 unit can’t be repaired? Spend a third of the price, get the same quality and don’t feel bad when it’s disposable - with another brand!

We’d had previous Viking appliances and we really like their looks. On our old house we had a Viking gas, and now we have a Viking electric. I, however, prefer the gas cooktop for the immediate heat and control of the heat. On the electric, it's like on and then off and on and off. Also, three of its burners are all small. It would be better if they make two larger burners for larger pots. If, however, you have to have an electric, Viking is the way to go. It's high quality and it looks really great. Overall, I like everything about it equally as well.

We bought this range 10 years ago, brand new for $6000. We have had it repaired by Viking authorized dealers 4 times over the years for $500 each time. All problems were electric failures. I wrote to Viking the first time it broke, (on Thanksgiving no less), after owning it for 18 months, and they never responded. They have poor customer service and do not stand behind what they sell. Our range has broken again and we're done with it. We'll be selling it on offer up. I would advise never buying a Viking product.

We had a wonderful experience with their dealer, and we got a refrigerator, a microwave, a dishwasher and the hood and the oven. Viking Range was fined for ranges that turn on by themselves (article dated 4/17/17) for 15 models sold between 2007 & 2014. We have a Viking Range that was purchased in 2017 when our home was under construction. 11/9/19 the oven ignited by itself in the middle of the night; our fire alarm went off & woke us. The house was filled with smoke; we have to flip the circuit breaker to turn the oven off. It was super-heated & left marks on our brick backsplash. It also melted the igniter & safety features of the oven, as well as the mechanisms for the sliding racks. Clearly, Viking has not remedied the faulty part issues that caused this.

I called them & their blanket answer is "that's not one of the recall ranges", albeit the exact circumstances around the previous problem were evident. The specialist that serviced the oven said it looked exactly like the previous problems, although the part in the oven read as the updated version. The customer service rep stated to send her the service notes & she'd forward to management, but didn't think repair would be covered (for new racks and the melted parts due to their faulty parts = $1,600) because the range was not under recall. For $14,000, you'd expect better response, customer service, and quality out of a product.

Our service technician says our Viking range is leaking gas from a valve. Viking says they no longer manufacture the forty dollar part and we must buy an entire new range! Ridiculous. Our previous service technician told us that he no longer services Viking because parts are often not available or never ship after ordering. It seems Viking treats their ranges, and their customers, as disposable.

I used to work in restaurants. I’ve known Viking for years, and I love the quality of their ranges. From having a noncommercial unit previously they work better. The oven makes heating temperatures more exact. It cooks more evenly. The burners are designed to where they actually just operated at a different level, a higher level. I would recommend it. You wouldn’t be disappointed, and you'd be happy with it. There's definitely a difference between a commercial unit and the standard gas range that you could buy anywhere.

Viking is a well-known name in the industry and their range was the highest and top of the line range we can use without a direct overhead exhaust. However, we didn't have a good experience with it. Every time the exhaust fan came on, it vibrated and made a terrible noise. It was intolerable. Their service guy said it wasn't leveled but it was leveled fine when it was installed. Nobody could figure out why it was making the noise when the exhaust fan came on. I said, "Obviously, something's loose. It's vibrating." And it took them seven trips, two different service companies, to figure out what it was and it doesn't do it anymore. It was very frustrating on our behalf. We'd probably not buy their product again because of that. It was also delivered with a broken grate on top too. I had to go into the showroom and exchange it for the grate they had on the display.

From day one, when it was delivered with a broken grate, right away I was upset. If I spent $500 or $1,200 for a range, I'm okay. But it was $5,000 so I'm expecting something to be worth $5,000, not a vibrating thing that was making noise. I have a service contract that I paid another $500 for so they have to come to me. It looks beautiful and it works great now, but the first year and a half was a disaster. And I'm not quite sure how they fixed it and if it's gonna hold up long enough. It was probably dropped or mishandled during its original shipment from its factory to its final destination that was why these problems came. Till today, it's working fine, but I'm not happy with the whole experience and would definitely not recommend it.

I've had my Viking range since June 2019. I had a previous high-end oven that came with the house that I bought, and when that oven was no longer able to be repaired under the warranty, I had grown accustomed to its features, and I wanted another one. And there are only a handful of high-end brands that has the same features, a Viking being one of them. I went with it being the lower maintenance and lower complexity quality brand. And I liked the style and the look of it. I don’t quite know if I’m gonna get the value out of what I paid for because they threw in a promotional free Viking dishwasher that we replaced my older, reliable dishwasher with, and it had nothing but problems, to which finally, it seems to have gotten fixed. And that has turned me off of the brand because I wondered, if the dishwasher had so many issues and seems cheaply-made, what’s the Viking brand for the range going to do down the road?

My overall feeling is that I have enormous trepidation about spending the money that I did, and how long this unit is actually going to last without it costing me tons and tons of money out of out-of-pocket repairs once the warranty expires. But then again, maybe that’s their business model. Maybe that’s why I got this broken dishwasher so that I have to keep repairing it and spending money years down the road. That’s my mental state that I’m in on the Viking brand right now. And there’s really not much I can do about it at this point. So, I have to hope for the best. The other issue that I have is that there has been a concerning, unexpected behavior with the range where, sometimes, my wife or I will turn it on and set it to bake and to preheat, and we’ll come back to it 20 minutes later, and it has set itself onto the clean cycle and hasn’t heated up or anything.

I actually ruined a couple of bread loaves that I was looking to throw onto the oven at that time and I couldn’t. And I had to switch it off, then on and then off. So now, I have to call the egregious Viking customer service and tell them that I have a problem although I can’t be sure. And it’s time and energy that I have to spend doing that, it’s rearranging my schedule for a repair crew. I wanted a product that works, and I’m not entirely sure I have a product that works well. I’m highly skeptical and feeling trepidatious about it. I have limited confidence that it’s going to continue to function like a new $11,000 range should for longer than a year or two. I’m living in the fear of I don’t really know what to expect outta this thing, and I don’t really know if you guys are gonna support me in my time of need for the amount of money that I paid.
