I wanted the Viking Ranges' look and also wanted it for the resale value. Everybody says Viking is top of the line but it's beat up and cheap. The quality was not as I expected. I've had one for over a year now and am disappointed because I've had cosmetic issues with it though the repairs have been great. I also have had troubles with the handles turning off. The knobs are hitting the screws that hold it going to the front panel so then I’ve got a really loud rattle with the exhaust fan. It's amazing when it cools down and the skillet pan's rattling on it. It gets so loud it disrupts conversations. Luckily, it's still under warranty and they’re gonna take care of it when they come back.
Apart from that, I like the way it performs. It cooks well. Also, the whole customer service experience was overwhelming but was better than expected. I was doing a DIY project and had issues with the cabinets so it took a long time to get the range unpacked and installed. But they treated me very well. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my Viking experience.

I purchased this induction range ~4 years ago and have already had to make several very expensive repairs. I purchased Viking because I thought I would be getting a high-quality appliance and didn't expect to have to make ~$1000 in repairs in such a new appliance. The oven takes over 40 minutes to heat up to 350 degrees and does not heat/cook reliably. Very disappointing!

I'm a fireman and we have professional restaurant quality ranges so I'm familiar with Viking. I like the style, quality and price of my Viking range. It needed a little bit of adjustment and that's about it. I also like the fact that it allows to heat up the pots, and the oven heats up really well so it's very efficient. The dealer and delivery crew were great. And the service person has been here to look at it for a couple of issues. It was perfect. Overall, I got a good product for the money I paid and the individuals there at Viking really tried to help me when I called them up with an issue. I also have a Viking refrigerator and I've had to live with two dings in its door for about four weeks. But they're willing to help me because the doors have to be made and they're replacing them. I have no problem with that but it is kind of an inconvenience when I spent $5,000 on the refrigerator. It's not cheap.

I like the way my Viking range looks and it's very attractive. We have all Viking appliances including a hood and it makes the kitchen look really good. We had electric before and now we have gas. We like the gas better than the electric; that's a good feature. However, the range had a problem. We got it about two and a half years ago and the oven never seemed to work right. Then, it started tripping the breakers.
So I called Viking; they had a Viking technician come out, go through the oven and discovered the problem. On Monday, the technician is coming out to put a new board in it. They came out before Christmas and it takes a while to get the parts from Viking. They finally came in, were going to come out and repair the oven on Monday. Also, I had a problem with the dishwasher and they're going to fix that. I stood there, watched them go through the range and I was impressed with the technician that came out and diagnose the problem. They were responsive as far as the repair.
Plus, the team has been very good and really helpful on the phone. I called, told them I have a problem and they checked to make sure that we had registered. But, there was a snafu that they said, "we hadn't but we knew we had". They looked into it, discovered that they had misspelled our last name and verified that yes indeed it was under warranty. I didn't have any problems with that at all.

We have seen Viking in new houses and we liked the look and the reliability. Our range was delivered last year and we installed it a couple of months ago. It's heavy but we got it moved in all right and the installation was easy. We switched over from electric to gas and we really like the gas stove part of it because it feels industrial. We've been real happy with it and the only issue we've had is a light bulb that burned out. We haven't had anybody locally to come out and repair it yet. We've been trying to contact the people at the place we bought it from or the local shops that work on Viking but we haven't had heard back from them. They suggest we don't replace the bulb because it's still under warranty, and so we're waiting.

We went to a dealer called Builders Supply that sells high-end appliances since the contractor sent us out there to go look at ranges. We looked at Viking, Wolf, KitchenAid, and GE. But my wife picked the Viking 48-inch range with two ovens because they had an extremely good reputation and my wife liked its appearance and the way it operated. It was delivered in October, but I found out that an installer had to set it up so we paid some people to do that. Then it turned out that the hinges on the larger oven were bent or broken and had been that way when it was shipped to us.
We were told over and over that they were moving their parts supply deal from Mississippi to Atlanta. That was what was holding it up and it was just a matter of a few days before it would be done then we would get the hinges. But it took forever to get them to the point where the people at Mr. Appliance, their warranty contractor here, called me repeatedly to apologize. So it took a little over four months to get the hinges. Consequently, the stove is right now a little over a year old and for the first four months, we didn’t use one side of the stove. But because this is a $13,000 stove, we thought it would have been a better deal than that. But when we finally got the hinges, everything seemed to be fine. We only had a problem with leveling it, but when we had some people come out to level it, it worked fine for a while.
Another problem was the indicator lights didn’t come on anymore. We also noticed that things were cooking too fast so I bought a thermometer and put it in the oven. But when I set the oven on 350, it came up at about 425. It clearly needed to be redone from the standpoint of recalibration. This has now been the week before Christmas. Mr. Appliance sent a man out and he looked at it. He was really good and knew what he’s doing. He figured out that a part has gone bad and it's not doing what it’s supposed to do to regulate the temperature in the oven. Also, there were fans in the back that didn't work anymore. So if it’s supposed to cook at 350, we set it on about 250-275 and regulate to see if we can get it there using the thermometer that I put in.
The technician came out the week before Christmas and I was told that it was no big deal. We just order the part and have it in. Since it's been 2 weeks, I called Mr. Appliance. Their rep said that they might have a delivery on Thursday or Monday of next week and she would call me if my part was in that order. I now have a $13,000 doorstop, sitting in there, not able to cook in the major oven anymore. So we're disappointed at the quality of our purchase. And when I call, I don’t seem to be able to get anybody on the phone over there.
I hated the dealer too. They sold me some parts for the range, one of them being a $250 skirt that goes across the front, which hides the legs. It turned out that when we got it in the house, it wouldn’t fit. Somebody had taken it out of the box and the box was thrown away. When I attempted to return it because I couldn’t use it, they told me they don’t take anything back if it’s not in the box. This is despite having just bought close to $40,000 worth of appliances from them. This is the worst experience I’ve had so I would never go in there again.
This stove has been a freaking nightmare and this experience stinks! Viking doesn't do what they say they’re going to do. I’ve spent nearly 50 years in business and customer service is the most important thing you can do. But you get nothing from Viking. If somebody asks me about buying a stove from them, I’m going to tell them to not walk but run in the other direction. If it doesn’t get better quickly, I’m going to have my attorney sue Viking for deceptive trade practices under Texas DTPA, which gets you triple damages. I’m going to take the $39,000, buy a Wolf stove and use the rest of it to take ads in the paper stating not to buy a Viking.

Thank you for letting us know about your Viking experience. Viking is truly sorry about the issues you are having. We will have a customer care rep contact Mr. Appliance to get the parts information to make sure the parts are expedited out and then follow up with you.

The Viking range is a very good quality product. However, it has a minor issue because it fell out in the front door. The warranty was still valid, so Viking sent someone who was very helpful. One thing is when the oven gets hot, the fan kicks in and it's quite noisy. But the stove top has a good heat and it's easy to clean.

I wanted a commercial grade oven for the new house because I do a lot of entertaining so I got a Viking range. I, however, had problems with it. Six out of the eight burners failed during the installation. I then called in warranty replacement and they sent the company out and they're supposedly on back order. I've been waiting for the replacements for six weeks now. I have two working burners for a $13,000 oven. I'm not happy at all.

The door does not shut properly and the racks inside are not easily moved in and out of the oven. The racks just scrape the lips they sit on. For the oven to keep the consistent temperature the oven constantly audibly relights when baking. I wish I had bought a Thermador.

The Viking Range works. My wife and I think its design looks really cool and she's heard great stories about the way it works. I also heard that the quality lasts a long time. My wife wanted a Viking, nothing else. She was shopping left and right for it, including seeing if she can get a used one. She walked into the Viking dealer where we purchased the range from and they had a sale of this particular range along with a free dishwasher. Our experience at the dealer was nice and easy. We just signed the bottom line and the range got picked up when we needed it to. I'm not a professional chef, but with the Viking Range, it looks like I'm in a professional kitchen. The controls on the burners seem to work a lot better than any other range I've had before, starting from the simmer up to the high temperature. I'm happy that I bought it.

After I saw the Viking range at a store, I asked my friend who had one for 25 years and he loves it. It's made with fantastic quality, and the temperature control and how hot it gets are great. I love the products, but the Viking dealer, specifically sales, did a poor job. They're too busy. Concerning how expensive their product is, I think I could have had a better experience. Other than that, things were ordered well.

Thank you for your comments. We are extremely excited to hear how much you love your range. We also appreciate you letting us know how we can improve the experience with our dealer.

I purchased the 3 Series Freestanding 30" Gas Range from Guler Appliances in Rockford, IL. Very shortly after beginning to use the stove the problems with it became very apparent. The fan began making grinding noises shortly after the oven reached temp and continued through the entire cool down process after the oven was turned off. The oven does not hold temperature and is regularly at least 60 degrees off, and after it preheats the heat continues to decrease. This makes it pretty hard to bake multiple batches of anything. The first batch overcooks and the second batch barely cooks. It's ridiculous.
The convection oven does not cook evenly. The batch on the left side of the oven overcooks and the batch on the right side undercooks. The purpose of a convection is even cooking. When on any baking setting the bottom of the pan overcooks whatever is on there (cookies, scones, etc.) even when moved to the top rack. The burner knob on one of the burners is almost too tight to turn. It does not turn smoothly. The original repairmen came out and told me this was beyond them. Now Viking is taking their sweet time seeing if they can remedy the problem starting with a new motherboard. Great way to spend $4,500!

Placed an order for Model RVGR33015BSS from Us Appliance. It was shipped by one carrier and brought to Denver. The order was then moved to another carrier for the trip to Trinidad Colorado. I went to the carrier and picked up the oven (we live in a rural area). Upon inspection of the box for visible damages I found none. I did not open the box. The box was unloaded at my house by me, and we took the oven inside... we noticed the door was open on the oven but when we got into the house we found that the brackets that held the outer door to the inner door were broken and the outer door was hanging by some screws.
I notified US Appliance with pictures. They came back and told me that I had damaged the oven and it was my problem. I contacted Viking and my customer rep told me there was not much she could do. I was told because I picked up the stove at the shipper's; it was my responsibility. There was no other damage to the stove. One small dent on the bottom of the front kick plate that was not visible. My wife and I decided to go forth and repair the oven ourselves. I had a local welding shop, reweld the brackets on the front door panel, we purchased a new piece of glass and reinstalled the door ourselves. FYI the spot welds that held the brackets on were at best way too small and the welds did not penetrate into the parent metal.
I also noticed the oven would not light, so I took the cover plate off and inspected the spark for the oven part found the cover plate was installed incorrectly and the spark was grounding on the frame. I took the cover plate to my shop and increased the size of the hole by 1/2" and repaired the spark boot and it is working better. However I did notice the oven will not light from the convection bake position. I have to start the oven in bake and after it gets hot move it to convection (I think the fan caused a draft).
I'm disappointed in US alliance and will not do business with them in the future. We love our rebuilt stove. Serial number 111715C10200028. I'm giving it two stars because I think the stove may have been damaged at the factory, and the stove could have been packaged better. It was placed on a pallet with flimsy straps. It is possible that the unit was damaged by a shipper but there are no marks on the box indicating a fork from a forklift got into the wrong place.

Viking creates a great product that is sturdy and outperforms other high-end ranges. After buying a Thermador Range that underperformed at every turn and which seemed to be made out of low-quality steel which caught on fire due to a door switch issue, we decided to buy a Viking dual fuel range. What a wonderful experience we have had not just with the product but also with the customer service, which was sorely lacking with Thermador. Thanks for making a superb product!

When I went to a store in Chicago, the place had all different brands and competitors of Viking, but I was sold on Viking's reputation. The salesman was very helpful and knowledgeable of the Viking product and that made the experience very easy for me. Plus I had a deal going on at the time where I could buy a type of package that fit well because we were remodeling our kitchen. There's been a couple of little issues, but when we have had them, they're on top of it right away. The first issue was when the icemaker went out and the second one is that the door on the range is screwy. I have a guy coming out today to service my range so the service has been great. Hopefully it's not a big deal and it's under warranty and everything is fixed and again, we'll be very happy with our purchase.

I needed a new oven after 31 years. I started doing research and going to different places. I had certain requirements like I've got animals and I wanted induction. I also wanted front knobs and dials. I didn't want all the push button stuff. I also needed a free-standing unit. Through my process of elimination, I was deciding between a KitchenAid and a Viking because there's no Miele here in east of London. The KitchenAid didn't work because I didn't like the way the controls were positioned on the surface of the unit. Then I was at the appliance shop and I started looking around at the different models. I saw the Thermador then I found that they only do gas.
Then I looked at the Viking and it looked like a beautiful piece of equipment. I loved the fact that it's 100% stainless on the side. It's not piecemealed with a black metal and just a front view of stainless. I love the front dials. They're very professionally done. I like the flat surface and the design of it. They've got squares and circles inside not these curves and arrows that go all across like a contemporary artwork piece. Moreover, it's an exceptional oven and has a great induction. I love it. It cooks well and faster. It also heats up my water wonderfully because I'm doing a pitcher of tea every two days. I don't have to wait six minutes anymore to boil my five cups of water.
I also like that as soon as I open the door, the light goes on. I don't have to sit there and press the light then open the door kind of thing. I like the fact that it's got three trays, two slide and one regular. I like the slide trays. I've only used my oven about a dozen times and so far, so good. However, there's no timer and when I pointed it out to them they said it's because it's a Brigade Professional. But it's not a major deal because I have a little timer right by the stove. So that's my unit and it's the best range.
I bought it at the appliance shop and dealt with one of the owners. He was very professional. I tend to do more research than the average customer and therefore I tend to have more questions. I try and dot my Is and cross my Ts and he took the time with me. I wouldn't hesitate to go back when I need a second appliance. This range is very expensive and I can't afford to make a mistake on an appliance because it's not something that I can take back and say it's not working and I need to get another one. I have a good warranty from Brigade for three years. I also bought the maximum extended warranty of three years so I'm hoping I never have to call on a warranty issue. I'm hoping this thing lasts me 20 years. But the fact that the warranty is three years and not a year has to say something, too, because everything else has a warranty for one or two years. And I know Viking was going down to two but I'm glad I got the three.

We appreciate your comments and are extremely excited to hear about your great Viking Experience.

Viking stove experience EVGIC365-6B SS - We have bought this stove back in 2006 in Europe. It is by far the best cooking device available on the market today. Only one extremely negative downside: We have had to replace the spark modules almost every year on average. This was the 10th time. It seems to be a design fault. You may expect that they last longer. The spark models are located fairly close to the rear burners of the stove and are only lightly protected by an thin sheet of aluminum cover. The way the blue plastic spark modules look after being replaced, it seems that the on-board electronics are cooked to the extreme as well. What's your opinion on that re Viking guys?

After installation, we contacted the company and explained that the oven would not light. The oven igniter clicks over and over again, but does not ignite. The warranty technician said that we had a bad ignitor bar and replaced it. However, this only fixed the problem temporarily. After several months the oven had the problem again.
Over the five year warranty, we had technician after technician come out, but the problem never seems to go away for more than a few months. The front burner also hums when it is on low, and the warranty technician said there was nothing they could do about it. When the problem happened again this summer, the warranty had expired and so far we have paid over $750 for people to come out and try to fix the problem. The last technician said that he would call Viking tech support and call us back, but he never called back. I am very discouraged. We spent a lot of money on this range that has never worked right. Also there was a recall on a oven part and we had Viking service is already 3 times. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

When the oven is heating it does pull the moisture out of the oven and vents it out the back. If there is enough moisture it can show up on your backguard. If you start your overhead vent before you start your oven this will help elevate the moisture on the backguard.

Their quality has been spectacular and the installation went great. However, recently I had some issues with my dishwasher. I called them about it but they've done nothing to help. I've spoken to three different representatives. The first one told me to go on and make sure all my products were registered and then call back the next day. When I called the next day, the lady said she'll get it set up for me. She gave me a repair number and the name of the company to call. I called the service company and they said that I'm outside of their service area and they won't do the work regardless of whether I'll pay for it or not.
I called back Viking and the next lady worked to try to find somebody else who could fix it for me. She looked it up and said I'm out of warranty and I'm out of luck. I told her I knew that I was two months out of my warranty and that I should've reported the problem a little bit faster. But I told her I have no problem paying to have a service provider come out and fix it. I was also willing to pay for the parts and I was not looking for them to pay for any of it. I was just looking for assistance to find an authorized service provider that can do the work for me so the dishwasher can get back up and working.
I'm so frustrated about my Viking appliances that I've really enjoyed and which have worked better than I anticipated. It's rough for me right now because I can't find anybody who is willing to work on them. And the company doesn't seem to care about whether or not I can fix the whole top of the dishwasher that doesn't work. Mine has had three new oven elements, four new switches. Mine has 6 top burners and a griddle. Don't ever buy a griddle. Impossible to keep clean when used. It rusts!!! This oven is a lemon first class.

I liked the look of the stove and the reputation that Viking Ranges had. I didn't so much like the price but you get what you pay for nowadays. The range is great and heavy duty. It's worth every penny I paid for it. It's a quality appliance and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if I had a choice. And I'm so far very happy with it. I hope that I don't run into any kind of issues. I've had a Thermador before and had nothing but problems with it. I've also had a Wolf which was a good range but Viking is just as good and a little less expensive.

Viking Range Hood - We went with Viking and paid extra for the hood thinking we would get exactly what we wanted and good customer service. On delivery we were sent the wrong size chimney to fit the range. This was in April of 2016. The part was ordered and did not arrive until October 2016. When we finally received the part it had a scratch down the front of it which means it had to be reorder again. I have contacted customer service 2 times and cannot get an explanation to why it takes so long to get the correct part sent to us. This is a mistake that they made in the first place. We now have been told we may get it by the end of January 2017. Our kitchen backsplash has been hold for 8 months because of this issue. I would never buy from Viking again.

My experience with Viking has always been good. When I rebuilt a house ten years ago, I filled it with Viking stuff. My kitchen was 40 feet long, so it was cramped full of everything Viking made. And then I built another house down here in Palm Springs and filled it with Viking stuff too. The representatives at the Viking dealer were the best. I've never seen any appliance company operate like they do. My Viking range's quality is top notch. I like the different things I can do with it - bake, bake convection, convection. I also like the ease where I can control the flames on the stove top. It's a new generation and the flame goes way down now. In the past, it wasn't as adjustable but it's really good now.

Thank you for sharing your Viking experience. We are so glad to hear how much you are enjoying your new range.

We live far out so it was hard to find a Viking dealer. The closest to us was three hours away. But the dealer we had was very accommodating. He gave us all the information we needed. We bought a stove and it was challenging to setup because we did it ourselves. Getting the gas connected in the back was difficult. It was in a hard to reach location so unless one has the right tools, it was hard to do from a layman's perspective. We finally called somebody in to do it for us.
My husband said that the grills over the burners are big. You have to balance a small pan on it but it has worked. I've done it and it seems sturdy. The stove works well and I like that it's just a basic range. It holds the heat for me which, my other stove gave up on. It doesn't have all the computer parts, which is what our other stove gave us issues with. The motherboard in the other gas range we had went out three times and it was very frustrating.

I'm really into cooking and I've heard about Viking Ranges a long time ago. When we were looking to purchase a home, it all had Viking appliances, which is what sold the house. I have a fridge, range, wine fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. Everyone at the Viking dealership was super nice, helpful, and explained the different models. Unfortunately, I have electric where I'm at, so there weren't too many things to pick from on that side of things. So we went with the D3 and it's been great. The only thing that stinks is my wine fridge went out and I've been trying to get it fixed.
The quality of the range from Viking is awesome. I like the ability to control the heat range. So, I can go up to three rings, and to get a pot of water boiling fast, I put it on all three. I also like that I have a couple of different convection settings. I've never cooked with convection before and it's really awesome that I have the ability to do that. If a person has the money to do it, it's definitely worth doing because it's a great feature that they have and offers.

Being empty nesters, and retired we rarely use your oven, except for when company comes. So even though it was past the warranty, plus we had a problem at the beginning with the settings of the range, we believe this range is a lemon. They say because we didn't have complaints earlier, it's not. Customer service was horrible! Our oven stopped working during roasting our prime ribs, we had to ask neighbors to finish the prime rib and barbecue the other one; the hot dishes that were going to go into the oven after the prime rib was done had to go to other neighbor's house.
We would call customer service and ask them to return our call, but they never did. So we had to call over and over again. That meal was at Thanksgiving time and we still don't have it repaired yet, and they called saying the part hasn't come in so they're canceling tomorrow's appointment! Right during the holiday season when we like to do a lot of Christmas baking! So it's ruining our Thanksgiving and Christmas! Thanks a lot Viking! Learn from us, and our experience: never buy a Viking!

Viking oven would probably be great if I could read the temperature or oven settings, but they wiped off years ago. After only two years, the black printed numbers and letters for the control setting wiped off. Never used any harsh chemicals. We only used window cleaner to clean it. No we have a very expensive oven that really can't be used because you don't know the temperature it is set on. I called Viking and they would only sell me another panel that would do the same thing. IMO this is not something that should happen within the lifetime of the unit!! If I were the manufacturer of a high end product like this, and this happen I would offer to make it right!! This could be a simple and inexpensive fix, but the refuse. I would rather have a oven from a old mobile home than this!! I don't even think Viking will even contact me about this to make it right. Save your money and go to a yard sale and get a G/E instead of Viking.

The Viking range is a quality product but we had a very rough start with it. We got a $10,000 range and it's not a cheap item by any chance. But the handle on the small oven door was not mounted properly. It was crooked. And then, the igniter on both ovens didn't work properly. One oven didn't work at all. It would get hot once and then, wouldn't, and would turn off. And the other oven would click, click, click a whole bunch of times every time it went on an on-off cycle. So we're not too thrilled. They should do a better job inspecting and testing the product and shouldn't be delivering defective items.
In the Viking's website, their request for help is broken. I went in the customer support area and requested help. It triggered an automated email that told me that they were going to look into my question and respond soon. I also got a second email that was an error, that said some other email was undeliverable. And then, I never heard back. So I'm guessing that the email was my request going to some support on the Viking side and for some reason, it didn't go through. It was a fiasco.
When I told the vendor who sold us the oven of the problem, they were quick to respond. They gave me the name of the local repair guy who provides support for Viking. They were scheduled to come within a couple of days but they didn't come, call or follow up. So a week later, I called them and they sent somebody but didn't fix it. They ordered a part, and two weeks later, they've never called us back. So I had to call them back. I escalated and they sent somebody who was sharp. He had to adjust the igniter. It wasn't sparking close enough to the burner so the burner wasn't lighting up.
To make the long story short, the salesperson at the store should have called us and followed up to make sure our problem got fixed but never did. They did not even check that the range was delivered. Then the repair people dropped the ball and never followed up with us. So it took us almost a month from when it was delivered to when we were able to use the oven. Other than that, everything is working fine. We love the Viking range. It's a very nice stove and the cooktop is great. It's nice to work with and hopefully will last a long time. We're happy with it but their support system is pretty badly broken.

We wanted six burners for any time that we would host the family party so a lot of thought went in for this particular range and hood. My husband made the choices and it had to be electric for the self-cleaning and gas for the cooking part. The reps were knowledgeable and they told us what was available and what we could get. My husband had one picked out and when we found out it was not self-cleaning, the rep steered us in another direction.
Now we're very happy with the Viking range. We're enjoying how evenly it cooks and I like how the racks slide out. We also have the Viking hood and it's been working very well. It's a little noisy sometimes if we don't turn it up all the way so we have to talk to the builder and see if they installed that properly. We hosted Thanksgiving where we had 18 people over, and we pulled it off and everybody was pleased. It was the most beautiful turkey we ever pulled out of the oven! It was so evenly brown and it was just amazing. And all the food came out hot. We were able to boil water quicker than any of the other ranges that we've ever had. It also cleaned off easily by moving the racks off the top and wiping everything down. The range is so wide with those six burners, my husband and I weren't bumping into each other when we're side by side.

The builder selection for our new house was a Viking Model RVDR3301 Range. The range burners are very difficult to control and it is easy to overheat what you are cooking. The simmer functionality is very non-linear and if you’re not careful the burner will go out. Cleaning the range top requires dismantling the burners, which have some delicate parts.
The oven temperature takes forever to preheat and the temperature varies quite a bit. Initially it would varied much as 50 degrees at 300 and the average temperature was off by 25 degrees. Even after two adjustments to correct the offset it still makes cooking delicate things like a cake difficult and everything seems to take longer to cook. The window in the oven door fogs up if you are cooking anything moist making it difficult to see what’s going on in the oven. And the chrome plating came off the oven racks and they needed to be replaced under warranty.

I am a general contractor and custom home builder and also own a remodeling company. We are in the building business and one of our primary vendor reps here in North Carolina is Appliance World. We do quite a bit of business with them and the relationship from them and getting to know them is how we heard about Viking. We have a client that goes through the design process and they are assisted by Appliance World with the selection of their appliances. We work with them four days a week with our clients visiting their location. They've obviously stood behind Viking and have a showroom and merchandising set up. Recently they downsized their showroom and kept the Viking line pretty prominent with still having 10 or 15 other lines.
We bought about $20,000 worth from Viking the last couple of months and so far, so good. The registration online is great. From a consumer standpoint, some of the information can be hard to extrapolate from the website. For selling $8,000 to $40,000 refrigerators, there could be some better photos and better highlights of what makes the company different. That market has become quite crowded and most folks have some brand loyalty, whether it's Sub-zero or Dacor or some of the others. Viking could do a better job of letting the consumer know via the website what those features and benefits are and where variance is between them and the next guy.

Viking is a brand name that's been known for quite some time. We did a fair amount of research and, in my personal opinion, Viking is overpriced fairly significantly. But beyond that, the simplicity of it was important and there aren't a lot of electronics involved although one major flaw is having no timer. Our Viking range is not very big but it's certainly well-made, well-constructed and very durable. My wife does a lot of baking and she is getting used to the stove. There were some spills on it and we tried to clean them up. We got the manual out and read it. It said to put a wet towel down for a period of time, but that doesn't work at all. It said not to scrub it with abrasive scrubbers and so we're trying to figure out how to keep it spotless as we can.
I paid to have the range installed and had it all prepared for the installers. I had cut the countertop, vacuumed everything out, and removed the old stove so they had a pretty easy job. One thing I don't understand is Viking's concept of forcing people to buy a stove with a washer. We wanted a stove and we didn't need or want a dishwasher, but that was part of the deal. It was a deal-breaker for me, but my wife was pretty much convinced that's the stove that she wanted. It doesn't make any sense to force somebody to get a washer and I would have rather taken the cost of the dishwasher off the stove and felt much better about that.

This started almost a year ago. We purchased a Viking refrigerator and a freezer which were large, built-in units. We're about to complete our house and ready to have appliances delivered and installed and it started with the refrigerator and the freezer where they set up a delivery time. However, nobody showed up for the first delivery schedule that they had setup. We didn't get a phone call or anything. The home that we were constructing is about 60 miles or an hour away from us. I was out there all day long waiting for the refrigerator and freezer to show up but they didn't. So, I called the store, they apologized and said they didn't know what happened but the appliances will arrive on another day. So, I drove back down there, waited all day long, but nobody showed up on the second promised delivery date. They finally showed up during the third promised delivery date.
They were supposed to send a four-man-crew because the units were very heavy, large built-in ones, and they were supposed to have somebody there to help install them and whatever else they needed to do, but as soon as the truck pulled up, there were only two people in the truck. I figured that was a red flag because that was not what they said they were gonna do. The two guys offloaded the freezer and they set the freezer into place. They were bringing in a refrigerator and I noticed that it was damaged at the bottom. I brought that to the attention of the delivery crew and he went, "Oh, yeah! It is." So, they just set it in place and did not install it since it was damaged. The delivery driver said, "Someone will be out here tomorrow to fix it and get it installed."
The next day came and went, but I didn't hear a word. I know how schedules need to be taken care of, so I tried to be patient and I waited for a while. I then got tired of waiting. I called in and said, "Your delivery guy said somebody would be here tomorrow. That was a week ago. When is somebody gonna come and fix this refrigerator?" I started getting from the store that, "Oh, well, the installation is not included and you're gonna have to pay." I said, "Wait a minute. When you sold me this you said it was delivery and installation. Somebody came out to deliver it and said they would've installed it if it hadn't been damaged." We started to fight on this. I said, "Well, when is somebody gonna come and fix it?" I finally got somebody to acknowledge that and sent somebody out there.
A guy came out and he worked on it all day. And then, he decided he can't fix or install it and told me that they're just gonna have to replace it. They're gonna send me two brand new units. So, he left, and again, the waiting game. A few days went by, I started calling again and nobody seemed to know what was going on. It has been two months since they began trying to get the stuff delivered and installed. I recently got a text message from the guy at the store because I reached out to them again. I said, "Something's gotta happen here. Y'all finish this." He texted me back and said, "Someone will call either today or tomorrow to schedule an appointment." I have not heard from anybody since then.

We went through Pacific Sales at Best Buy and they were able to work with us and help us out. We got the range, microwave and dishwasher. We had to wait for five weeks to get the stuff. And when they came to install it, there was a problem with the microwave. There was a broken screw inside the microwave itself so the installers could not put the screw through to mount it onto the cabinet. We called Vikings and they told us that we have to wait another three weeks. And that they couldn’t order one until this unit was turned back in. Finally they were able to get one in a couple of days and they came out to install it. And the second microwave had the exact same problem. I confirmed that it’s not the same microwave to make sure that they didn’t turn around and bring the same one back. It was a totally different serial number, so two microwaves had the exact same broken screw.
The installer just happened to have another microwave on their truck that was supposed to be delivered to some other lady’s house and it was too big for her house so she had to cancel the order. There was some issues about whether or not he could install it because he had to turn that one in and then it had to be reassigned. But I was able to call Best Buy and they worked around it and they were able to give him the okay to install that other microwave. So we finally got it installed. It wasn’t the original one that we had ordered, but it did not have a problem. It all got worked out. But it was a headache for us trying to get everything installed correctly. Best Buy was kind enough to give us a $250 check towards the headache that we had. They were very friendly and helpful. And so, at the end of the day, we were happy.

However, I have two concerns for the money that I paid. One is the grate on top. The little rubber feet keep breaking off. My understanding is that the only way to fix that is to buy new grates, which is absolutely ridiculous because the grates are perfectly fine. The second is I had to have them repair the blower fan in the range. Again, I think that for the money I paid it would last a lot longer. It's still under warranty but I shouldn't expect that. We moved in to a new house and bought new appliances. We were told by a local relative to work with this one supplier so we looked at what that supplier had in stock. And of everything they had, we thought this one Viking Range was the best and because it was out of the box, it was a little better priced than usual. It was the first one we ever had and we had it for years. However, at least once a year or every 13 months, the oven would break. Then it would take a long time to get repaired because the part wouldn't be in stock and it was always the same part.
So after the fourth time we had to replace the same part, we called Viking and asked them to accept responsibility for it. The woman we worked with there was perfectly nice and she said that she had to go through the district manager to get an answer. He did not approve it so I pushed a little harder and finally they said they will pay for the part but we'll pay for the service. We did that and nine months later, it broke again. I got back in touch and by then I had a long paper trail that I sent to them and they have a case file on. I got the district manager to agree to pay for both the part and the repair but it would have to be done again eight months later. So the woman I worked with gave me the email address where I could escalate the issue. She told me to send them everything and tell them that I would like a replacement.
I did that and said in my email, "If you have a technician who can come out and fix it that would be great. But we don't need a new one. We just need a working, reliable range. We really use our oven and it's out of commission so often and we bought a toaster oven at some point just to have something. We felt like we can't even sell this thing on Craigslist because it wouldn't be honest to sell it to someone because it's not going to work." I got an answer back saying that they agreed to pay for the part and the service and that they'll resolve the issue.
I wrote back and told them that's not acceptable. I copy furnished the President and CEO of the company and said that we've been so patient and this is the fifth repair in six years. With the stove, it's always the same repair. It's obvious that there's something wrong with it and we paid a lot of money for it and they need to stand by their product. So the President told a sort of fixer type guy close to him to call me and figure out what was going on. That said that they were going to replace my range and that he was going to work with the Level Committee so they can be more responsive a little earlier. I can't tell how many hours I spent trying to get the oven replaced and how much time it has not worked over the years that we had it. So this new one that we have, it replaced the old one and we've only had it for two weeks now. I'm happy it was finally resolved and we have high hopes for our new range.

We greatly appreciate the response and for letting us know how we can improve.

Was very dissatisfied when I called and checked on warranty for product. Was told my items was sold as is. It is not on any paperwork etc. Don't believe I will buy from again if you will not stand behind your product.

Viking still offers technical support to all service agents as well as authorized servicer information and parts available for purchase on out of warranty product.

I purchased Viking range from a local appliance dealer and installed it a month ago. I pretty much knew what I wanted ‘cause I had used the website and based on our space, my husband and I figured out what we wanted. They also answered some questions we had. They have a beautiful stove ring and some of the pieces that we were thinking about were on display which helped to be able to open the doors and look in and see some of the new features. It was nice to have a showroom with actual appliances in it. The quality is good so far. One of my favorite is the indoor grill top. I've used the oven and the cook top. The only thing I haven't used is the grill. Overall, I'm confident with the product and Viking's reputation.

I looked at Viking Ranges and the Wolf Stove that's in the same townhomes that we have and I liked the styling of Viking more. It was also on sale so I found a better deal on it. I like the Viking's quality a lot. I liked that it's more mechanical and not as electronically based so I don't have to worry about a computer system going out. I like the broiler underneath it - it's awesome. I also like the gas ring that has got different level of flames coming out, so the heat's pushed up more. Those are what's great. But I really don't like how the oven vents at the back get so hot. The guy who sold it to us was a nice salesperson and I had a technician come out as well who was good. The Viking Range is high quality and I had a professional experience with the company.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying your Viking range.

We’ve previously lived in houses and in rentals that had Viking in them and I know that it’s a good brand. And when we were looking at the appliances, there was a couple that fitted in our budget and we also looked at the style of the oven. We looked at Wolf and Sub-Zero, and Viking, just a combination of the style, price, and functionality, won out over those.
We bought a Viking refrigerator and a range from an online company out of New Jersey. It came from the factory and it looked like it had been packed up with a dent in the door. It was underneath all the packaging and there's no kind of dents in the packaging. It was difficult to figure out how to get that repaired on someone else’s dime because it’s not our fault. The dealer was more problematic than Viking. It was like sending emails to a blank wall. I felt like they could’ve said that this was not their issue and they’re sorry for sending it to us. They were just searching to figure out who I needed to contact. After four emails and a handful of phone calls they told me to call Viking. And then Viking sorted it out as I could expect. They took care of it in a good fashion and took complete charge of its cost. Viking had someone came out and replaced the door.
Then, something also happened when they installed the range. Some of the workers tried to move the range around and they pulled off the door of our oven and that had nothing to do with Viking. But we were able to get that sorted out on the same day. It’s good for it to all happen at once versus a couple of times. The quality of the range is good and it seemed perfectly functional, especially after the door was fixed. It works when it needs to work.

We've seen Viking Ranges installed in other people's homes. Prior to purchasing from them, I did a little bit of shopping at Thermador, but my wife had her heart set on the Viking Range. I purchased it through Appliances Connection online, which was very simple. I talked to them and they shipped it to me well-informed of all the delivery dates. It was a pleasant experience dealing with them and arranging for shipment and delivery.
We got the whole package with the range and the vent hood and an external ventilator. However, I'm seeing some issues with it and I'm not really pleased with some things on it. The stove's leveled but the griddle isn't. It's made crooked and the oil runs off one side and immediately dump it into the catch pan. Then we had a Viking service man come out because the main door won't stay closed. When bumped, it pops open and turns the light on and shuts the oven off.
My wife said that the oven works well. She loves all the features of the convection and its temperature control. She's also very happy with the burners, though it has a large diameter. Maybe I should’ve got the Series 7 instead of the Series 5 because of the size of the burners. All in all, it's not quite perfect for me, but my wife loves it and she thinks it's perfect.

We saw at Best Buy that they had some Viking Ranges along with some other commercial brands. My wife was interested in a gas range with a black porcelain top. It came down to styling for us and we ended up with one from Viking. We like the appearance. However, Best Buy's people really didn’t know a whole lot about Viking. Viking had a promotion going on with their commercial ranges where they provided a free dishwasher. Because we didn’t buy the professional line, we couldn’t get that promotion. It was a little disappointing ‘cause the stove we bought costs as much or more than the original professional model we were going to purchase.
We’re also having problems with the Viking range as the oven hasn’t worked from day one and we've had it for over a month. We have an open service call right now and we’re waiting for parts. The service guy was out once but he didn’t have the right parts. He has to come back and hopefully, it'll be this week. We had a Samsung top-of-the-line Chef Collection gas range in our old house right before this Viking range and it caused us nothing but grief. It’s a little disappointing for us to move up to Viking, which should be a higher class, and now we’re having problems with our brand new range. My wife likes the heat control of the Viking range, though, and that it simmers much better than the Samsung did. She loves the cooktop. At this point, the Viking range has a great appearance but questionable reliability.

We initially looked at different models and ended up getting a better deal with Viking. Everything we bought came in with the package, which was nice. The dealer tried to work with us to get the best deal. The conventional oven in the gas top works great as well as the broiler, but unfortunately, the convection part of the oven doesn't work so we've had to put in a service call for it. It's a little disappointing since it's brand new and that's an issue.
Additionally, since that supplier is out of state, we took a couple of days to find out who could supply the Viking range. I had to call them back and then they gave me the name of the supplier, then the supplier took a day or two just to have them call me back. Luckily it was close to the area that we were, but the rep was getting calls from people from New York and other states so not too many people service them. Overall my Viking range looks great and I had great interactions with the people, but they're lacking in servicing.

I liked how the Viking products were built. They seemed very sturdy and the quality was very good. I love the high powered burner. There's one that's super high power so I can boil water really fast. But recently the timer broke on my range. I called the repairman who found damage to the door. The range was working fine but this was something that couldn't be repaired so it was a big deal. He then contacted his Viking rep but afterwards they sent me an entirely new range and covered the installation. They were no longer making the model that I had, so I ended up with an upgrade and I didn't have to pay for a thing. I was blown away.
The issue with the timers is that when the oven is heated up really high for cleaning, that destroyed the timer mechanism. The ranges don't come with a timer anymore and they had improved the range since I got mine in 2012. They sell a kit in case people's timers go out. But what they did for me was amazing. They stand by their product. I will be a Viking owner for life.

We went looking at different stoves and we were impressed with Viking by what we were getting for our money. Our place is propane/electric and we wanted a gas top and it's got a convection oven in it. We liked that idea in case the power goes out. We're in the mountains and the power goes out here once in a while. This range is super expensive and I would never normally go out and buy a stove like this. But we've got a beautiful house and this stove fits the house to a T. However it was hard to get the kit to transform into propane at the top and we had to wait quite a while. We were cooking on our camp gear outside because they had to go back East for the kit and we had to wait over two weeks.
That was the downfall and that wasn't very impressive. I was at the point of canceling the range because of it. It's a high-quality stove and they should have no problem getting parts for that stove. I wanted those parts flown to my house like next day delivery so we could get the stove into place and we couldn't even get that done.
I also didn't like that I have to get my glasses on and look really close at the dials. The stove has got a switch on the side. You push the button and the light comes on and it lights up the dials. It shows you when you turn the dial, you're gonna turn it up to high or medium, but it's very hard to see. It's got to upgrade. Otherwise, we love the stove. The stove is an awesome product, a very beautiful stove. It does a really good job of cooking and I'm impressed. My favorite feature is the convection oven.

We appreciate your comments and are extremely excited to hear that you are enjoying your range. Thank you for the info on getting the conversion kit so we can look into improving this process.

We’ve had our old Viking Range for at least 14 years. We did some comparisons this time but still ended up with Viking because of our past ownership. The quality of the new range is top-notch and it has the ability to do the low simmer on the burners, which is really nice. In the oven, the slide rails are really nice, for the racks, too. The Viking dealer was terrific, knowledgeable and very nice and we had done a lot of background research so we didn’t really have many questions for them. However, we had a problem with the oven igniter so we called them back and they had somebody out to fix it the very day that I called. They were completely supportive.
I love the burners and the oven itself and I’m getting used to using convection. The old oven didn’t have convection so I’m playing around with temperatures. I really like the new range's quality and some of the features but there could be some improvements. One of those is the oven fan runs for a really long time after I turn the oven off and it is annoying to have that constant fan there. The oven window and the oven light are really miserable. There might be better ovens out there, in terms of the oven light, oven window, and that annoying fan. But other than that, it’s really nice and sure is pretty.

Our builder put Viking range, dishwasher, and refrigerator in our home. The range is great but I already had to replace the motherboard on the refrigerator within six months. The seal around the freezer chipped because the availability of getting a motherboard took an extra number of weeks. The appliance company sent somebody out and said we needed a motherboard. They tried to communicate with Viking but they weren't successful. So we ended up calling Viking and then we rescheduled the guy to come out to put it in. I wondered about that a little bit and I wasn't happy with that at all. I wish they were a little more customer service oriented. If I'm gonna recommend Viking, then it will be something based on my experience with them and not how I like their range. My little experience with the refirgerator has clouded my perception and I would not choose Viking if I had to replace an appliance.

Do not buy this range. We have had this range for 10 years, and it has been nothing but problems. The starters for the burners had to be replaced, the lights stopped working and every time we replace the bulbs, they immediately burn out, the controller board had to be replaced twice, and now there is no power to the oven coils which leads me to believe that we have another controller board in our future. We bought this range because of the purported quality, the versatility of the gas top and convection oven, and we have been disappointed at every turn. After spending $4200 for a range, you would expect something more than service calls and constant breakdowns.

I have Viking in other homes, and this time, they were running a rebate which was a considerable amount of money. Also, Viking was acquired by another company and word on the street was their quality issues had been fixed. I also looked at Wolf and Thermador and read horrendous reviews about them, but they’re great products too. Ultimately the price point made the big difference for me and I bought a range from Viking. The quality's pretty good. Upon unboxing and installation, there were two burners that were inoperable so that was not a good start. I then got a service call in and haven’t heard anything from them and it’s been two weeks.
But I have been able to use it. I like the rapid heat oven which is very nice. I also like the true convection oven portion of it. It has three different convection modes, but the true conduct is very nice. And the overall appearance was very sharp. The dealer was good too. I did most of my research online and I have a rep that I used. I simply called him and said, “Order it.” It's a great product, well-made craftsmanship, and a value in the realm of high end, other than the burners. But I thought that may have been a shipping issue.

I have had a Series 3 gas range for less than 2 years & have had nothing but problems with the oven. When I first got it, it sounded like it was sucking air. The temp is always 25-50 degrees lower than the temp dial indicated. I ran the self-clean cycle twice & both times the door wouldn't unlock after the oven cooled down. I have had parts replaced multiple times. Most recently the main control panel was replaced so I figured all would work fine but it is worse than before. Now the oven lights, the fan comes on, the light to indicate the clean cycle is finished comes on (I wasn't running a clean cycle), the fan turns off & the oven shuts off so now I have no functioning oven at all.
When I called for service it would take at least 10 days for the tech to come out... Guess they only have 1 service guy. Finally heard from Viking who said they will replace my range but the replacement range is a downgrade (does not have the self-clean feature). That is not acceptable so they'll give me store credit. The dealer has nothing available in black, w/ self-clean option in the same price range as the Viking. So if I get a different brand & don't use all of the store credit, I forfeit the unused amount. That is not acceptable. The dealer has an "I don't care" attitude.
I have told both the dealer & Viking that at this point I will only be happy with a refund. Talked to Lindy at Viking on 10/24 & had no response w/in 24 hours so called again on 10/26. Got the impression she had done nothing about my request. She told me she'd call me on 10/27 in the morning but I have had no call back. I called Viking & was told a VP has to review and they will get back to me "hopefully within the hour or tomorrow morning". Unbelievable that a company with their reputation would be so difficult to work with. Their product stinks! Their response time stinks! Their attitude stinks! Let me start off with how terrible this company is with everything they do. They claim that they strive to be the best with customer service and this and that but it's all false lies that any customer shouldn't believe. I will NEVER, EVER recommend this company to anyone or recommend anyone to buy any of their products as they are crap and parts need to be replaced numerous times throughout the year. A couple of years back we purchased a 7 thousand dollar Viking range and if I went on to explain the problems this oven has caused us it would go on and on forever. 500 dollar burners had to be replaced numerous times throughout the years as well as numerous other parts which weren't working, leaving us with repairs worth more or equal to the price of the oven from day one.
We decided to contact the company and put in a claim because we saw that they rebranded the company and a lot of complaints were filed with them in the earlier years about the same exact oven we had. They requested all repair documents even stating that they saw we had to get it repaired by them within the first few months. We spoke to a customer service representative named Lashelle ** and she was the most terrible one of them, all rude and didn't help with anything, barely got responses to emails and had to go out of our way to get a response back from her. She finished the review and said there's nothing they can do about the oven. Screw your company and crappy pieces of ** ovens which you do nothing for the customer who has problems with them. DO NOT BUY AS YOU WILL REGRET THIS PURCHASE SEVERELY.

My Viking range cooks great and very fast, too. It's a beautiful appliance however, I don’t believe there's a timer on this thing to time anything. I don’t like the fact that when I turn on the oven, there's a blue light that comes on but there's no signal that says when it's gotten to the proper heat where the blue light goes out. And I have to be basically sitting on top of it to know the proper heat. I've had other ovens that will beep when they’ve hit the right temperature. The other thing I don’t like is the ergonomics of it because I have to bend over to read the dials to see where they're at because my particular range has a little bit of an overhang to it and the dials are underneath it. That’s a very minor thing but an important one to me.

When we bought our house, it was furnished with brand new Viking professional series appliances. We have lived in our (new) house for 6+ yrs. Over that time period, the fridge has given us non-stop problems. The $8K+ fridge is inferior in performance to any standard appliance you could pick up at Lowe's or Home Depot for a fraction of the price.
Issues: Was subject to a recall - took 4+ mos to get recall parts delivered for a recall associated with a major safety issue (heavy fridge doors literally falling off the hinges and hurting kids... not some minor issue); Freezer stopped working. Have had 3 different Viking certified contractors come out to service it and it still doesn't work. We've paid over $1K in "fixes" - none of which have actually worked.
Entire fridge stopped working. May be the motherboard. May be the compressor. Will take months to get the part in and replaced. The compressor is under warranty but Viking will charge us $150 to ship the covered part back to them if it's not in fact why the damn thing isn't working. In total, we're looking at a minimum of 2+ mos to get it fixed. This is not the 3rd world, but if you have Viking appliances you'd be forgiven for thinking it given how you're forced to survive for months without a working fridge.
We have a mini fridge and wine coolers we are storing our groceries in... because our $8+ thousand dollar fridge doesn't work and can't get repaired in any kind of reasonable time frame with Viking's stipulations about who can and can't work on it w/o voiding the product warranty. All of our neighbors with Viking appliances have had THE SAME ISSUE. All of the certified techs will privately tell you Viking sucks. Their customer service is atrocious. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON VIKING. After reading very similar reviews, I can't for the life of me figure out how they are still in business.

Over the years I’ve always wanted to get a Viking range. We moved back to America about five years ago and I went to remodel the kitchen, and that’s when I purchased one. The look is very nice. There’s a couple of quirks on it ‘cause when it came, the knobs were all put in the wrong thing. I didn’t know what was going on when we turned the stove on. I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t turn it smoothly from one adjustment to the other. We came to find out that the back of these knobs were put on wrong. So when the service guy came out, he looked at it and changed the knobs. As far as working with the Viking people, they’ve been very good and the service is top-notch.
One of the things I've noticed is it's difficult to see the numbering on the Viking oven on what you want to set it to since it's chrome and it is very shiny. When we turn the oven on to 350, we can’t tell when the light goes on or off when it becomes 350. We wait for five minutes and it should be there. We’re trying to get a little external temperature thing to put on there. Other than that, it’s really nice and it gets hot really fast. We like it a lot.

I got a brand new Viking Series 5 range a year ago and had nothing but trouble. We had every part on it repaired or replaced seven different times. It was absolutely the worst stove I've ever had in my life. They then discontinued the model so we got a Series 7 a couple of months ago. But it's not holding the right temperature either. I talked to the Viking guys and they're coming out tomorrow to try to repair that. I'm waiting to see if they can calibrate the temperature. It fluctuated up to 100 degrees. I wish I'd have my old stove back. It was nothing fancy but far better than what I have right now. I would never buy a Viking again.
The customer service has been great but they did not deliver the meat thermometer that comes with the new range. They said they were sending it but I've yet to get that item. The repair people have all been lovely, too, but are just not able to fix the stove. I had numerous repair people come out. I even had somebody from Viking itself instead of the one they contract with. Also, I've wasted seven whole days with my first oven. I took off from work waiting for people to come fix it and they did, but nobody should go through that with an oven issue.
I would never recommend Viking. This new Series 7 range maybe fine, but with what I went through with the Series 5, they shouldn’t have had that product out there to begin with. And I don’t trust the new one. Hopefully, it's just a calibration issue that could be repaired. But I've been down this road with the first one which didn't hold a constant temperature either. I've already told some of my friends to not get a Viking and the reasons why.

I had one bad experience with their team at the dealer, but that was in-house and the general manager extended a conversation with us and took care of that. Immediately after installation, three warranty service calls were necessary due to faulty wiring on the convection fan and broiler ignition failures. The issues were not due to shipping. It’s been the worst nightmare that I’ve ever experienced on an appliance with this amount of money. I had a Hardwick oven when I bought my house in 1985. I replaced it because we couldn’t get parts with it, and I needed a whole kitchen. So I figured I’d buy really good high-end appliances. So I bought an Electrolux refrigerator and then a Bosch dishwasher. I got a Viking electric wall oven, convection microwave, and a range.
I’ve had problems with the range coming in cosmetically. There were a lot of inherent little scratches, and they took care of that. I couldn’t get it to work as well. For some reason when you put it on convection bake, it shuts off. It’s got a mind of its own and this is a $5,000 appliance. Thank God I bought it from ABW because they’ve been wonderful to deal with. After a year and a half, I had every single part replaced three times including cosmetic parts. The other thing is every time they come in and they would take it apart, the repairman would inherently scratch the surface or would chip on the bottom because it’s porcelain-lined and has to take the bottom out. I also have to check and put my hand over the vent to see if the heat is going on and I shouldn’t have to do that. So I finally convinced them that it’s a lemon.
Viking had their representative come out from another repair place because they didn’t believe that the people at ABW were handling it properly. The representative replaced the part and it still didn’t work, so Viking replaced the range. The second one was a little better. Then when I turned it on and off, I still have the same kind of issues but I can’t go through a repairman coming in my house for another two years. They need to fix it. It’s a damn oven and it doesn’t work on the convection bake cycle. I like the convection bake cycle, that’s why I bought it.
I probably have the biggest file on them. What’s really bad is that I found out later from another guy who delivered that this Viking range has problems and they just wouldn’t admit it. There’s something wrong with it and its motherboard but I have no idea what it is and I need it to work. It only came with a one-year warranty, but they promised to give me a two-year warranty on the replacement because of the issues that I had with it, and I haven’t heard anything from Viking. I reported it to them because I thought it would be a learning experience.
The other thing is the cooktop. We bought it because it has steel burners and a porcelain back top. I cook nothing but the condensation of the water. With the other top I had, it stained in two places when the condensation of the pot hit the water. It was a mess. But this one seems to be better. I haven’t had problems with the convection and I haven’t had operational problems with the electric, but this gas has been a huge disappointment. If it lasts how long it lasts, I will never buy another Viking product again. It’s like it’s possessed. It’s supposed to be high end and not a cheap appliance. I wish I had my 30-year-old Hardwick back. Otherwise, I’ve had no problems. It’s a beautiful-looking appliance. I would never recommend to a friend to buy a Viking.
They’re coming on Friday and would be replacing the two cosmetic parts that were scratched upon delivery. I have to stay home from work again for them to come over. This has been going on for almost two years. I have my daughter who’s an attorney and I was going to sue them. They had two contractors who came out and two different companies who said that there’s nothing they can replace it with anymore. They replaced it, but it was a fight.

Our Viking range was a part of our new home package and so far, I’ve been very happy with it. It burns very cleanly and I like that it is gas. It’s quiet. I’ve not had any problems with it. It's reliable and good. We had to call in an issue a couple of weeks ago but it turned out to be the electrical system in our house and not the actual range itself.

We’ve rented houses that had Viking Range on them. So we were very keen on buying our own once we bought our house. So far, it’s fantastic and I love it. We bought three things from them, the range, the hood and the dishwasher. And of the three, the one that’s working perfectly is the range. The hood is working okay but for what it is, I thought it would have more suction power. The other night I cooked steaks on a pan and the extraction couldn’t handle steaks being cooked, and it’s a big hood bigger than the range. My concern is whether it wasn’t installed properly or that’s as much power as that range has, which is surprising because it’s not a cheap hood. The range is great, but the range has less moving parts to it. I like the intensity of the flame. Being able to cook at higher intensity is great.

Thank you for your review. Viking is pleased to hear that you are happy with your units. In reference to the hood there is a few factors that could be causing the issues you are having. With this hood there is different size blower motors that can be put on it. If the motor is not strong enough for your duct work it could cause issues. Also something to check would be how many bends in the duct work you have running from the hood to the outside. The more bends decrease the power of the blower. If after checking this you are still having issues please contact us at 1-800-241-9152 option #3 to get a name of a local servicer who can come out and check out the unit.

I was told about Viking and I made my third purchase from them. The decorator talked me into it too. But I have a problem with all of their equipment like with my refrigerator. I called the person that takes care of the fridge and they told Viking that it pushes back. I had to have a man come twice and pull this forward. I'm now having a contractor to come in and put a bar behind it. It's very hard for me to get into the refrigerator doors because it's halfway locked in next to the oven. The freezer is lousy too and somehow makes a lot of ice.
I'm not so thrilled with the oven either. It's very expensive. I have stainless steel and it's so hard to clean that up. The dishwasher is also complicated. Sometimes it goes on and sometimes it goes off. I called to find out what I'm doing wrong and I had to push the button again. I would not recommend Vikings to anybody. I had it for a few months and I have a problem with all of their equipment. Viking products look good and everybody is impressed with the fact that they're so pricey, but I hate Viking and want to tell my friends it's the worst. I'm unhappy and it's been a terrible experience.

The ice maker, light, freezer, and the fan continue running on the second one so that was returned again. We've got our third one since June the 26th and it's now working great.

However, we're having a little trouble with the oven door. When we close it and it hit a certain spot, it takes off and slams close. And the hinges, when we open and pull it a certain way, it pulls right off of the oven. I've got Viking's reply and was told that they were still waiting for the new parts.

I liked the reputation that I read about them and bought a few things - a range, a washer and dryer, and a refrigerator. The Viking range is much better. It cooks much faster. It’s of good quality but the only thing I’m having a problem with is the grates in the oven. I can’t get it in and out easily. It sticks. Also, they didn’t explain clearly that I bought the non-self-clean oven. They didn’t go through everything for me. They didn’t tell me the ins and the outs of each of the ranges. If I could exchange this, I would get the other one.

After only two and a half years of use, we've had the fridge repaired four times, the dishwasher three times, and the range twice already. So, we're very disappointed with the products. I've had appliances that cost 500 bucks and lasted better than these. The products had poor quality overall.

They have a high quality range but at that one point, the price was a little higher than I could afford. However, it came at a price that I could justify and it was a good price. It's a solid machine and I don't go in for any of the bells and whistles, so to speak. I want something that's going to cook.
I knew what I wanted more or less when I went in their store and had a couple of questions. Also, I would have liked to have been able to actually see the range before I purchased it but the only thing they had for a floor model was the gas style. Unfortunately, I don't have that option where I live so the sales rep showed me the gas range. I'm very happy with the product. I love it and so far, the features that I use have been very good. The elements are quick to heat up and the oven cycles well. I really like the 12-inch element in the center of the stovetop because I have a lot of larger pans. One in particular is a paella pan and it's not something you can do off to the side. So it's got a good size and because of that, it's the first time that I actually made a paella in about 14 years. I had this pan just in hold for a stove like this. I also like the convection features on it.

We were looking for a range on the higher end, more top-of-the-line, and there were only a few that we looked at, but we chose Viking Ranges for the reliability. I liked that they were manufactured in the U.S. However, I'm really disappointed because we can't get someone to come and help fix it. Ever since it was installed, it's been running really hot. We have liquid propane and we've already had three people come out and look at it because I love to cook, which is why we invested in the stove. I'm the only one who can cook on it because it's so hot and can't get to simmer. It's low is boiling and there's no way to get it turned down.
We looked at it and it said that it came already pre-configured for liquid propane and there's no adjustments that can be made. It's really frustrating and we're stuck with it. I even went online and registered that I got the stove. The last repair person a couple of weeks ago said that there’s nothing they can do. Before we purchased a range from Viking Ranges, my husband knew about the product and liked it. It was due to the company's name and because we liked the look of their product, that we went with them. We got the fridge, the oven, and the range. The range that we got is good. We haven't had any issues yet with it. We've just started using it about a month ago because we have just moved into the house which was previously under construction. For the last month, the range has been working fine.
However, I surely won't ever buy a Viking product again because I've tried to get through to Customer Service to tell them that I have a problem with my fridge, was on the phone for 40 minutes, and spoke to five different people, but I never got anywhere. So, I'm not happy with Viking. We went with Viking because we felt they had a good reputation and I love the whole look of the range. It's a real sturdy unit. However, the first range we got had to be replaced because of a wiring issue. The salespeople, realizing that we are novice and have never worked with a semi-professional range, should have made us aware of that there were many different types of mechanisms. We were unaware of the product. That was bad enough but when we ordered an accessory, it rattled and was horrible we just sent it back to the company. We have had so many issues with the range, it's ridiculous. Viking brought us out a new oven, but it was a big deal bringing it up two storeys and is very heavy. It's also very hot when cooking and I wasn't prepared of the heat that comes out of it. The vent definitely needs some help and people need to be aware of the heat, especially if they have a smaller kitchen since it's really hot.
Then we had the microwave for over a year and the motor went out, so we had Viking come out and they replaced the motor. Then the door or the hinges started to fall, so they came out and tried to fix but they couldn't. They sent us a new microwave but it took a lot of calls. Once we got a hold of Carol, who's a Viking representative, she made us go through a couple of things but did get us a new microwave. Once they made the decision, it was within a few days and the unit was brought out. Viking took the old one out and put the new one in. Evidently, the quality assurance is too good to check all these things out before the big oven came out or they would have known all these stuff. We were so disappointed with the workmanship. We have had a Sharp that has lasted for 15 years and looks brand new. We spent 700 dollars on Viking for a year and we don't know how it's going to be.

I am a advocate of buying American-made every chance I get. So, I was excited that our new place was equipped with all Viking appliances. That being said, I have been very disappointed with all of our Viking appliances, and wish we had something else. As we speak, our dishwasher is making an obnoxious beeping sound. It will not stop. It has been going on for an entire day. I have tried disconnecting, shutting of the main power switch--everything, but to no avail. Dishes are piling up and I am just angry at this stupid machine. What is the point of this stupid design flaw? What is the beep telling me and why can't I shut the stupid thing off.
This is just one of my many complaints about Viking. The oven hood/exhaust is insufficient. The burners do not always ignite and when they do the click of the igniter will not stop. The heat distributes unevenly. The oven often just shuts off and ruins whatever I am baking. It will reach 400 degrees and then I come back and my bread is a gooey gob because the oven is cold.
The refrigerator/freezer is very poorly designed and the plastic shelves and drawers break very easily. The freezer has basket shelves--it is a bottom freezer drawer under the fridge. So, you put stuff in and the stuff ends up slipping through. The refrigerator water dispenser does not have a light to indicate when the filter needs to be replaced. The dispenser doesn't work if you put the fridge onto the lowest temp available in the model.
And, the company has a poor environmental rating because they use a lot of energy--a lot more than Sub-Zero or Bosch, and the filters are not recyclable. With our Bosch, we could send the filters back to the company for recycling. So I would never buy another Viking product. I have used Thermador ranges as a personal chef in other people's home and they are far superior. I have also envied their Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances. In our other home we had Swedish (Aksa) washer/dryer and Bosch appliances. I miss them. A lot.

I like the ease of cleaning it. When something bubbles or spills over the cooktop, it's easy to clean it. There aren't a lot of grooves where food can get stuck in. The only downside is that the oven has two knobs. One of them turns the oven and the other is for the temperature. It's a little counter-intuitive and not easy to see. Other than that, our experience has been very good.

I really like my Viking range. They’ve updated them over the years and tried to make them a little bit easier to clean since this is not self-cleaning type which is fine with me. It's very even cooking and heats up quickly. I like that it's sturdy. The grates are really heavy and I know that they're solid and not going to bend on me. The salesperson did a great job and was very helpful. I had a huge double oven that had a grill on it. It worked really well, and I really liked it. I only had it serviced once. It was having a little trouble igniting. The sparks would fly but it wouldn't ignite. Some guy came out and fixed it and it was fine ever since.
So in our second home, I got another Viking. It's the oven and a half on the bottom. It's not quite as big as the other one but both places have been great. It has little lights on top of each control knob, which my older one didn't have. So at night when the whole kitchen is dark, it’s almost like a little night light which is cool. I also like that it's not electronic. I get to turn the knob and tell it what to do. It doesn't ask me questions. I have the Viking range hood as well. Some people do Wolf, some people do Dacor but I like Viking. They have a good reputation and it's restaurant quality for the home. I'm really happy with them.

However, there's one thing that some of the other ranges have that Viking didn’t and maybe still doesn’t have, and that’s different sized burners. My wife makes espresso every morning with the little Italian coffee pot, and all of the flame diameters are bigger than the actual espresso pot that we're using. So we have to put it on the side and it uses about a third of the flame and two-thirds that has nothing. I know that some other brands have ones where the back burners are small. The broiler never got hot enough. I could put my hand under it. It did not do anything it was supposed to do. So, we went back to a Viking.
Our other Viking was a double oven, griddle, grill, four-burner and it was wonderful. Our kitchen is not that big this time, so we just got a four-burner gas range and the single oven. The broiler works and the burners have power. I like the center thing where I can put an oval pot in the center. The fellows who delivered it were above and beyond. They spent a lot of time here, carted away our other range and got this one situated. Please be assured that our top priority is to ensure you receive the best service and product possible. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality product that exceeds your expectations. As a result of these efforts we are standing behind our products with an industry-leading warranty and would be more than happy to fully support any warranty repairs in accordance with the terms of warranty.

I have been doing some online research for a while on professional cooktops and was looking at Viking and Wolf. I liked the style and the look of Viking and from the reviews that I got, it sounded like they provided superior customer service and they backed their products 100%. I feel that the quality is really good too. But presently, I'm running into an issue because the installer didn't install the unit properly so I haven't been able to use my oven. They had it plugged into a 120-outlet while my oven requires a 240. We're anxious to really try the oven but it's not getting powered enough. But as far as the gas part or the top of the 40-inch range, it's phenomenal and we totally love it. There is consistent flame starting off the burners, there's consistent heat, and it's quick how I'm able to whip up a meal. I wish I would have bought one sooner.
I bought my Viking from Ferguson and I have mixed reviews for the original distributor. It seems like they didn't give the attention that they really needed to give to Viking's product. However, the people that I'm working with now are trying to rectify the situation. They seem to be really on it and on top of everything. Other than that, Viking has been very responsive. Right now, I'm really happy with my purchase and I would buy some additional Viking products at this point in time.

I'm 59 years old and have been cooking forever and I always prefer a gas range. Part of the reason I chose a Viking was its design. We had a GE before that had some problems with its electronic components, and I was sick of replacing that card. And it happened two times and so I wanted something a little bit more simple. I'm very satisfied with my Viking range. Its convection works great and it did everything it was supposed to do. I also liked the design of the inside oven of the Viking range and how easily the wire shelves slid out. It felt very stable and nice. Then there's the simmer feature where I can really bring the temp down low. It is awesome because not all ranges go quite low enough. I like the control that I have on that. I also like its sleekness. It doesn't have a whole bunch of electronic stuff because I don't need all that stuff on my range. I just want to cook with it.
However, when it was delivered, there was damage done to that bottom kickplate. Everybody tried hard to order it from Viking and get it here. Finally, the salesman where we had bought it out said, "You know what? I've got a range here. We've got it on order. How about if I bring this down to you or send this down to you. You guys put it on. And when you get the replacement thing, you guys bring it up to us?" So that's what we did. It was not the perfect fix but I appreciated the salesman going bazillion miles over. It was just such a conundrum for anybody to figure out how to do it. It wasn't the delivery people that caused the problem. It was done in packaging from Viking and that was aggravating.

Thank you for feedback, Viking is so glad to hear you are happy with your new product.

We bought our Viking 6-burner range used, with very low usage on it. It looked all pretty with the stainless parts, and worked well... for a year or two. After a while, I've noticed the lack of stainless parts and fasteners where it matters. This thing is just a rust-bucket. We live in an area where steel is not particularly prone to corrosion - the lousy materials are to blame. Rusty, creaky door hinges (maybe that is why our door actually stays closed :-o). Rotting gas oven burner. The pan under the grates has rust-through. On and on. If I thought this was a long-term keeper, I'd order a truckload of igniters for the oven, as they go out regularly. If I had to pay someone to work on this, it would be much cheaper to buy something else. Rubbish! I'd rather have an old 55-gallon drum and scrap wood than another one of these.

I just built a $150,000,000 house last year which I don't live in but I had remodeled my kitchen in 2000 and the Viking Range hood went in and I just knew I wanted to put the Viking stove under it. There was no reason to, everything was working and I quite frankly, forgot all about it and bought another house. I have a second home now but then the stove stopped working. Since I already have the range hood, which I love, I bought the stove to go with it. This is a very high-end appliance city so if someone has this problem I go, "What a difficult position to be put in."
The top of this range is great and heats up. It looks fabulous and fits beautifully with the range hood and in the space that it was designed to go in. However, the installation of the electrical for the oven is a nightmare. There's a problem figuring out where to put the electrical box 'cause it doesn't fit under the stove. So, I have to cut up a cabinet or a wall. I'm dissatisfied that they sold a product that cannot be installed unless it's a new build. I'm a real estate agent. And if I'm selling a house and see a Viking range in the kitchen, I'm immediately going to start thinking if it's installed correctly. They should phase it out.

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with the installation of the range. Our install guidelines are available online and thru the dealer prior to purchase so consumers can determine the necessary electrical and plumbing requirements in advance. Once again we are sorry for the difficulties during installation. Should you need any assistance in the future please feel free to contact our customer care team at 1-800-241-9152

I do a lot of cooking so I was looking for something that was more durable than the normal retail types of range. My brother and sister have Viking Range for 15 years before they started having any issues with it. My sister does a lot of commercial type of cooking and baking which is a real testament to its durability. Its quality is good for the most part. However, I have a unit that has a griddle in the middle and we find that difficult to clean. When we use the griddle, there's a lot of splashing and the whole top gets soiled. Just because of that, I don't use it sometimes and I'd go back to a frying pan. And if I'm cooking something in a frying pan, it will then splash over onto the griddle. I have no type of covering for it so it gets soiled.
Also, I was very dissatisfied with the installation and the actual purchase of it. When I initially bought the unit, we looked at some pictures and we picked the one that we want. However, they did not include the backsplash with the initial purchase. I didn't know that they were separate and that I got to pay an additional $350 for it. The item was back ordered so I had to do without it for six weeks. So, I was very disappointed with that experience after spending so much money on a high-end grill like that. That turned me off. Other than those, everything else is great. I definitely love it. The temperature and convection of the oven is really the biggest part of it as far as the reliability. It definitely cooks a lot different. It's something that I use a lot out of everything.

I've known about Viking for years and the choice for the purchase was a toss-up between a Viking and a Wolf but I liked the design of the Viking better. I was redoing my kitchen and I wanted something very attractive in there and yet functional. I did my hardware in brass and silver and the rim of the burner was stainless and I would love to be able to have a little bit more brass on the outside. I noticed some of the higher end range that had the controls on the front and handle and doesn't have a combination of the brass and the stainless. So, I went online this week to see whether or not there were parts that I could buy and swap out for mine. I really don't cook very much but I like the look.
One thing that I don't like about the stove and the first time that I've ever had a stove that was so high-powered is that whenever I'm baking or cooking something that produces smoke and I have the oven on a higher temperature then I must put on the vent because it doesn't vent outside. I have to turn on this vent to get rid of it because it's hot. It's very hot such that on the first time, it set off the alarms. To put on the vent is annoying and distracting. Either they make some quieter motors or a different ventilation system for the stove so that it vents from the top of the stove. I am dissatisfied with that one feature.

My Viking is about a year old, and within this first year, I've had to replace an igniter for the griddle on the top and the bulbs for all the lights in the front. I've found that the preheating cycle on these ovens is extraordinarily long compared to most other ovens. I don't like the feature that while it's preheating, you can't put anything in because it will just scald it. There are some ovens that even during the preheating cycle, you can start heating up something or put your food in there. I do all my baking in my $500 gas oven because I just turn it on and I stick my stuff in. But I don't even use the oven of the Viking because it takes about 20 minutes just to preheat. I can't put anything in until the light turns off and it's ready.
Also, the ceramic paint on the top of my stove has already started to chip off so I've had to put touch-up paint on it. I had a Dacor stovetop before this and I had it for 15 years, and the ceramic or painted metal part at the top never had any kind of scratching or damages. When I bought this Viking I thought, "Wow, I've got the top-of-the-line. I spent a lot of money. This is gonna be the best." But the burners have been very nice. I enjoy cooking on the gas burners.

I wanted to get a Wolf Range, but my brick vent was one-quarter of an inch too big. We tried to shave it, but it wouldn't work. It had to be a 60-inch range so I went online and found Viking Ranges. They had the features that I liked, specifically the grill, the griddle, and the two separate ovens and convection current. I've had it for a month now and it's been great. I bought it from Texas Appliance and they handle the Wolf, Thermador, etc, but Viking has the best features.
The racks in the oven automatically slide, unlike all the other ones where I had to pull them out. I also like the burners because they catch whatever we spill so it doesn't fall inside and it's solid. The last one I had was from Garland and the stuff would drip through, so we had to lift everything up to clean it out. The quality is excellent and it's worth what I paid for.

The total $678.28. I agree that there are costs like travel time, tools, truck costs, skill and experience have to be understood. My problem is the monopoly, lack of choice and attitude that makes a company to believe they own you and what choice do you have. I suspect the Viking gets a percentage. That's a false warranty. We purchased the Viking Professional 36" Gas Cooktop with 6 Burners and the Viking Professional 36" Downdraft Vent and 500 CFM Internal Blower. The cooktop should be rated anything but professional and the downdraft is a piece of junk. The circuit panel (controlling the raising and lowering of the vent and the exhaust speed) has gone out umpteen times. It was almost ok when it was under warranty; however, it's cost us a small fortune to have it continuously repaired by a "certified Viking repair specialist". Once, the repairman was here for over two and a half hours and then gave up and said he couldn't figure it out. Our downdraft is currently in operation, thanks to my husband and a piece of a toothpick inserted in the circuit panel. I'll never purchase Viking again.

The stainless scratches easily, the rubber pads on the burner grates fell off within the first year and you can't purchase replacements... You have to purchase all new grates at a significant expense.
The knobs are cheap plastic and chip and the markings for temperature/flame control (simmer, low, medium, high, etc) have completely rubbed off. One may question cleaning methods... I've never scoured or used abrasive cleaners, I've cleaned according to manufacturer's instructions. This appliance is such an absolute disappointment! I'll never buy another Viking cooktop. And then due to the door not being closed properly, it burned out a major thing. I called the regional office and they finally replaced it. The one knob on the range currently sticks. But we haven't called to have it checked out yet. But the range works well. I also like the shelf inside the range that slides out and in, and that the stove heats up so good that I can save dollars for the heat. We were so used to Kenmore products where I had to keep everything wide open to cook. Viking range is super. I couldn't ask for anything better. We also bought one of their first refrigerators. I'm from Mississippi so it's not hard to hear about Viking Ranges here. I wanted to support a homegrown company and I cook a lot and have heard good reviews about it. I also had some friends that had them and enjoyed them. I appreciate the way if I spilled something on the top of the stove or something overflows that has a lid on it, the cleanup on that is not bad. It's pretty easy for me to clean up compared to the last stove combination I had.
However, I have not been very pleased. I have a gas top and oven and the gas oven has been very difficult to regulate. It takes forever to heat up, way longer than ever expected for the oven to pre-heat. I have to turn it on a good 30 minutes prior to and sometimes longer. I put my own room thermometer in there because I don't trust the temperature setting. I hate the way the gas comes on and off. Early on, I was having struggles with everything being too dark on the bottom and light on the top. My appliance man said, "You're not waiting long enough to pre-heat. You're gonna have to wait."
I'm also frustrated with the oven size. I have a big oven and a little oven side-by-side. The little oven is half an inch to an inch too small. And the big oven, when I try to get something in there like two pans or skillets, they don't fit well either. I cook all the time and I prefer large groups. We have work entertainment that I do all the time. I tried to do two big pork shoulder roasts at the same time. It was in there for hours and difficult to get both of them in there the way the pans were. I would've taken an inch out of the big one because it's not helping and put the inch in the other one.
There's also the fact that it's hard to clean on the inside. Viking makes a big deal about not scratching anything and not using anything harsh on it so I've been very careful. I have to heat it up just a little bit and then have a wet rag and muscle it to get it off. When I spill something over, grease gets on the aisles of the stove and I haven't gotten those off. I can't get those off without having to use something harsher than they recommend.
We bought the vent that goes over it and I've been hugely disappointed in that too. It's really difficult to get the grates out to wash them. I can't talk to anybody if I turn it on since it is obnoxiously loud. I also bought a warming drawer and that's been okay but there's a little spring-like lever that goes on it to make it click into place, and it broke for some reason. The appliance guy said, "We'll have to order that part." And then he went to order the part and Viking had stopped producing those parts for a while. He worked on getting a part to help with the regulation of the temperature in the oven and called me to come out and put that one in. But I don't think it's going to help and I don't see what it's going to do. Overall I'm dissatisfied and if I could get rid of it, I would. If I hadn't spent so money, I wouldn't be quite as dissatisfied. But when you spend that much money, you expect a lot.

The Viking range has all the features I wanted and a good reputation for being a quality product. It lasts a long time with not a lot of maintenance issues. We wanted a blue range to match our blue kitchen, so we got a custom one. The first one that we received was a disaster. It never worked from the minute we got it. The spring on the door was damaged so the oven never shut properly. Every time it got up to a high temperature, it would drop suddenly down and just remain there. Every day, they sent a bunch of people out to look at it and the whole process was annoying.
After a lot of complaining, they finally replaced it. But even if they could have fixed it, I still wouldn’t have wanted it. Why would I want a defective stove that didn’t work from the second it was installed? It was definitely not an easy process. They were blaming the distributor and each step that we had to go through was very frustrating to deal with.
The brand new range doesn’t bake well at all. My wife tries every day to bake in it but it burns. We got the dual range with the gas top and convection electric oven. The gas range itself is great, but the actual oven is not very accurate in terms of temperature. The way it cooks food is very inconsistent and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants to do a lot of baking. It wouldn't hold temperature and it was serviced a number of times by a variety of authorized service agents and it cooks extraordinarily a long time to get it to function the way one would expect a range should. It took many months to get it working. So, the low point definitely was that the initial manufacturing quality was way out of alignment and I expected a lot more out from it being a full type model range. My experience with it has been rough. It's a sharp-looking product and what I did was ordered the stainless steel panels from the Viking authorized supplier out of the Southeast. However, I was disappointed that the order was botched the first time.
I spent about $900 in these replacement panels and they sent two of the same part. I had my installer over and so I had to pay him to come back a second day. Then when I talked to the Viking people, they were indifferent to the fact that they had made a mistake. It took probably another month before the correct part arrived. So service was bad. Me and my wife decided to get a Viking Range because of the build quality and simplicity. We like it better based on appearance and what our relatives told us of their experiences. However I had a bad experience with the dealer. They told me at that time I purchased that if I'm not ready to put a delivery, I can have this range later. Several months later when I was ready, my dealer all of a sudden told me that they cannot deliver Viking anymore. There was some sort of disagreement and they couldn't sell Viking anymore because Viking specifically prohibited this dealer from selling their brand. I actually lost money because Viking raised the price by that time and the dealer referred me to a different dealer and promised that they will give the same price. But the new dealer couldn't provide the same price.
The second dealer sold me a Viking and gave me a free warranty. I'm not sure if I needed it but at least something as a compensation for a little loss. They delivered a new range. A few days after the delivery when I installed the range, I noticed when turning the handles it caused some sort of noise or feeling that something fishy is going on. So I called and they sent a repairman. The repairman took the handle off, adjusted something around it and after that it became better. The repairman also noticed that one of the screws was not original and it was quite surprising. Either Viking quality control is not correct or someone else changed the screw. I don't know how it would happen. But I rate it as minor inconveniences.

Needless to say that sent an independent service company who only showed up TWO weeks after we opened the service call. They replaced the grates and oven shelves... which lasted only a month!!
Out of stupidity I had put a deposit for an almost $10,000 order for our second home in Vermont. The salesperson at PC Richard told us the D3 series was the "economy" Viking line. (Seriously??? $3G for it? Could have bought 4 KitchenAid ovens!) So he recommended their top of the line. However, after getting stuck with this disastrous lemon, I canceled the order. I never believed on reviews but the self-cleaning cycle JUST stopped working. I got so mad that I decided that I will do whatever I can do, for the rest of my life, to educate consumers so they do not get trapped by Viking into believing that Viking is a state of the art, top appliance manufacturer. WRONG!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!! DO SOME RESEARCH ONLINE. FIND A GOOD MANUFACTURER BUT NEVER, NEVER IN YOUR LIFE BUY VIKING.
UPDATED ON 08/31/2016: This is a follow up after I posted a complaint here. After posting the complaint they were very quick to email me (customer service support supervisor Juanita **). An independent technician fully evaluated the Viking appliance and made a list of items that needed to be replaced. The list is 5 rows long - that by itself says a lot about the range. The technician was excellent in explaining everything to us. Upon his departure he said that Viking will need to approve the parts or decide to replace the range. This was on august 10, 2016.
Today, three weeks have passed and... not a word from Viking. I called the service company and... Surprise!!!! Viking has not even responded to their request. So here is another important piece of information. Be aware!! They claim excellent service... Well you are for a big, big surprise. As big as the one you are going to get once you buy a Viking appliance. No matter which type, not matter where. Horrible company. Save your hard earned money and certainly don't spend it on a piece of garbage like it.

I liked the price of Viking Range for the model that we wanted. It was something that wasn't out of our price range for a high-end appliance so it's affordable. Certain things certainly cook better but its performance has been good and easy to use. I really enjoy how the convection cooks. I don't really have any complaints about it. The Viking dealer team was great, helpful, and accommodating. It's been a good overall experience so far.

I like the qualities that the Viking Range has as well as the look. I chose it since I wanted more of an industrial look in my kitchen and a product that was mostly made in America. But I had a little disappointment. When the range was installed, it wasn't installed appropriately. I think it was set to propane when my home is on natural gas. Beyond that, I had to have four service calls because the oven was not working properly. It would come to temperature and then it would just shut off.
I questioned my judgment in choosing to pay a premium for that appliance and then I have to do so many service calls to figure out what's wrong with it. The servicemen checked the stove then talked to Viking. They decided it required a specific solution and put that solution in place. They went away and then the next time I used the oven, it was clear that it hadn't been fixed. They went through a process of elimination to figure out what the problem was but it took some time. The good news is that the range works beautifully now and I am pleased with it.

I've used Viking Ranges in the last 2-3 houses that I've owned over the years. During the first purchase, I was looking for a commercial type range. I investigated what ranges were available so I looked at consumer ratings and decided to purchase Viking. I never had a problem with the first Viking that I owned. However, I had a problem with quality with the latest one I've purchased. I had a technician come out for 5-6 times and when we still couldn't get it resolved. I called them and they offered to replace it.
I wasn't really that happy with the dealer. I don't know if I'd still go back there. I was trying to decide between Viking and another oven. Their oven would take a while to get so I went with the Viking, and it didn't come in as quickly as I had anticipated. Nevertheless, I love it. I have the dual range so I have the electric oven, the gas cooktop and two ovens. I love the convenience of having the two ovens. I have lots of room when I cook big meals. The surface of the stove is great because I have lots of burners that I can use. I also have the big overhead stand and the heat lamps. It makes it a lot easier to cook and I like to cook. It's a great oven for cooking and baking.

Viking Range have had the reputation for quite a few years and we had looked at various ranges and Viking Range fall under the affordable price range. I expected the best quality from it when I bought it and it's good because it didn't have a lot of electronics and would last me a lifetime, but our first range experience did not go so well. I was very disappointed its oven died after about a year and a half. I was glad I had an extended warranty on it because otherwise, it wouldn't have been covered at all and I would've been out the entire amount. But after nine service calls, it could not be repaired. Viking then replaced it with a new model because the model of our first range wasn't available anymore. Since then, the stove we have now has been working fine. We've had it for about a year and a half now. The variety of the temperature using grade on it is the best about it. I can get down to a nice low simmer.

20 years ago we went with a Vulcan, a true industrial appliance and after years with that, we decided that we wanted something more refined. Viking Range's features and design fit what we wanted so we bought it. I wish it was more affordable but we love it. I have three favorite features of the range. One is the thermostatic griddle because that was one of the big things that the Vulcan did not have. We had the combination broiler griddle so we had to manually manage the temperature on the griddle, which was a ridiculous amount of effort. Thus we didn't use it much. Having the thermostatic griddle now makes it very usable because it makes it simple - turn it on, set the temperature, wait 10 minutes and cook. Another favorite feature is the convection. I use it almost all the time. The last one is actually an accessory but I do really like it and that's having the wok grate.
There was one defect with the range and we worked through the dealer that we bought it from and it was good. They thought at first that it was a defective grease trap so they just sent out a replacement. When that didn't fit, they decided to look a little closer. In the end, it turned out that the griddle assembly was not welded together properly, thus the reason that the grease trap didn't fit. The problem was addressed and we've had no other issues.

I've known about Viking Ranges for years. I wanted a six-range top, so we went out and look at them at ABT and they seemed to have the cleanest look. They had somebody who comes out especially for Viking who was very knowledgeable. When we first got it, it wouldn't go on properly so somebody came out and adjusted it. Then when I clean and put the pieces back together, one or two of the jets would flare. Also, when I put it down on low, I get this ticking sound which means that the gas is not coming through properly. It is also a little crowded, so I have to remove one rack to get anything big in. But other than that, I really like the quality.

Dana is the cook in the family and he’s done lots of research on the Viking company. We also visited many stores and tried many models. This is his second stove. He originally had the 36-inch that was black with brass trim all over it and that’s what he really wanted to get this time. The oven enameling of the first range flaked off, so they had to replace it for us. The dealer was great and customer service has been very good.
He really likes that there’s a smaller oven where we don’t have to heat up a great big oven to cook. He uses the griddle a lot and likes the speed that they cook at because of the high heat. He also likes the grill, the dual fuel and the six burners. It’s an impressive piece of machine and the quality of the stove itself is superior. The one thing I know that we both miss is that Viking has taken the clock off of the face of the stove. There’s no time at all, which we relied on for our time in our kitchen. But Dana's very pleased with the stove. It has many features that I know he likes to use and we’re very impressed. It’s a Cadillac sitting in our kitchen.

We went to Best Buy and saw Viking there. We chose them based on what we saw and the recommendation of the salesperson and then compared the burners and the size that we had and that’s why we purchased it. When we first got this stove in, a piece of sealing in the oven door between the glass was loose and we had to wait for that to get replaced. There was a dent in the bottom frame. Viking wouldn’t automatically replace the stove outright. They wanted to send some service guy over and it took almost six weeks to get that taken care of.
Also, the oven door does not stay shut when you use the oven. It hasn’t even been a year and now we have the issue with the oven door just popping open in between when we’re cooking. We’ve got us a service guy coming on Monday, but would prefer to have that stove completely replaced given the fact that we’ve got two service calls on the warranty.
Viking keeps telling me that there’s nothing they can do and I have to call the authorized service people. I've called their headquarters to find the name of the authorized service people, and they said even though within a number of days of purchasing, if it arrives in my house, they wouldn’t replace it which I don’t understand. Other manufacturers do it automatically. When I had issues with Sears, I'd call them up and they'd give me a replacement. We would not recommend Viking based on what's going on now.

We renovated our entire kitchen through P.C. Richards and we purchased Viking through them for our cooking range and I like the look of it. I was supposed to contact them because of two things. One is I was very disappointed aftermarket that I couldn't get a grill pan. We have a lot of company in our summer house and we cook a lot of eggs and bacon. I want a grill like the grill top that I could just put on. I called when we first got the range last year and they said they'll be coming out with it. I called again this year and they still haven't. The second thing is one of the burners got defective. It leaks, so we can't use them. It shoots up flames that could cause a fire. When you put it on low and then high, there are flames that really come out of it. But, other than that, we're very happy with our Viking Range.

I initially read about Viking Range on the internet and heard that they were good ranges from others' word-of-mouth. Then there was a lot of bad write-ups about Vikings from the service warranty, saying there were the ranges have a lot of breakdowns. I then found out that it was taken over by Milne whose goal was to improve on service and reliability, so I gave Viking a shot.
Now that I have it I think its quality is top-notch. I love it. The grill is my favorite. My least favorite however would be the time that it takes for the broiler to come to temperature - it takes a half-hour at least. Maybe I'm doing it wrong by waiting for the oven light to turn off when it is ready. But other than that, it's wonderful.
Viking is a phenomenal range but there a few things one has to know about it. It takes a little bit more maintenance but it's worth it. The range has to be cleaned once a month so I take it completely apart on the first of the month, every month and soak everything, dry it all, and put it back together. I do the same thing to the Vent A Hood exhaust fan I bought and have that and the range paired together in the same color. Also, the burner sometimes doesn't light so the top needs to be taken off then go through the holes with a big pen and wring it out to make sure that the igniter is dry.

We were told that Viking only warranties these parts for 2 yrs.
The repair was over $800. The repairman told us he sees these parts routinely go just after warranty expires, and that his client tell him that Viking never accepts responsibility. Ours no doubt took a bit longer because the oven is rarely used. They don't stand behind their product. We purchased Viking D2 line (french door refrigerator, double wall oven, cooktop and dishwasher) for our new home and we moved in in February 2013. We have had nothing but problems with these products. We reported the microwave in 2014 to the authorized dealer that we purchased from. The front fascia was coming off every time we opened the door. After over a year of dealing with Viking representative, he came out and glued the door back on. He glued it incorrectly and now the buttons are protruding into the sockets and the front panel is still buckling on the front.
Since we did not have good luck with getting the microwave serviced, I have tried dealing with Viking directly on the rest of the products. Waste of time. Got a form letter response. The refrigerator bins have all broken, the ice maker gets plugged up regularly and doesn't make ice, the computer on the front panel of the refrigerator doesn't work and, consequently, the refrigerator freezes all of our fresh vegetables. The cooktop randomly doesn't heat, the top oven does not retain its temperature when there is more than one item in it, the dishwasher does not dry the dishes and doesn't clean them very well either. You have to practically wash them going in and then dry each and every one coming out.
The Viking representative in my area is NOT customer service friendly and is difficult to work with. I have written two letters to Viking, contacted the place we purchased the appliances from multiple times and have gotten no satisfactory response. Now all of our products are out of warranty and no one wants to address the issues. I guess they don't care that I will NEVER purchase Viking products again. EVER. And, I am making it my mission to tell everyone I know not to waste money buying products from this supposed high-end products company. I purchased Viking thinking that paying extra for an American made product was important and that they would stand behind their products. Lesson learned.

Thank you for your feedback. We will have a customer care representative reach out to you to see how we can assist.

Gave them lots of scratches on them. So they came out and glued those feet and will replace the top which has not done yet. Second issue was knobs. They were placed poorly. They are getting stuck when you tried to turn off the flame.
They come out to fixed two of the knob (rt front and left front) and screwed up the flame and now if tried to simmer, flame is high. Also, there is a gas leak on left front knob when flame is on. Last Friday I had electrical fire underneath the same right front knob the was fixed about month ago. As of today four of the burner work if I use match or lighter to turn on. One of the briquette trays rusted through which is surprising as this is supposed to be a stainless steel part. The wiring harness for the lights and ignitors melted causing the wiring to short, a serious concern on a gas grill. The spark ignitor failed and needs to be replaced. The coatings on the grill bars failed causing the bars to begin to rust. Viking service refused to help stating that there is only a 2-year warranty on the parts. I was truly excited to build my first outdoor kitchen. Looking back I learned a lot regarding decisions I made on products and design. I knew of Viking and had seen the grills in apartments where they looked great. I purchased a 30" Viking natural gas grill, with porcelain grill, a 30" warmer, dual burner, storage, 15" refrigerator, 15" Ice Maker, with pump, and dual doors. The kitchen looked great, all shiny, but alas the beauty was only skin deep. The outdoor refrigerator and ice maker would only last 20 and 14 months respectively. The cost to get repaired by a certified technician would cost as much as it did new and warranty (for the older model) was only for a year (newer models have a longer warranty).
The grill wasn't too bad, but really don't like the porcelain grills. They are billed as the premium option, but flake and rust. Though not affecting how it grills the rust was something not expected so soon with the product and think the stainless option may have been better. The lights, dials and heat work great, but the ledge holding the grill broke (fixed myself by drilling out screws and replacing) and the tray holding the charcoal rocks rotted out and needs to be fixed. The rust was expected, but again, I think it happened too soon especially when I purchased the cover. The dual burners and warming tray work great and haven't had any issues. Overall I'd say it wasn't a bad purchase but disappointed with the made for outdoor refrigerator and ice maker that didn't make it two full seasons.

Within one month of when we could start using it, we had problems. In the 3 years since the remodel started, we've had service out a minimum of 10 times and they can't nail down a problem. They suggested keeping a log of issues which we did for a year. Showed dates and issues documenting a routine problem with the temperature not seeming right, uneven heating, self-cleaning doesn't work, pre-heat takes an hour and over fan takes more than an hour to turn off. Fixed several different pieces and STILL have such uneven heating that nearly everything comes out burned on the outer edges before the inner part will be cooked.
Forget making a cake. The middle will be raw when the outside is done. Nobody from Viking will help. The regional manager called once while I was at work and won't return any calls after 5 attempts. Clearly just trying to look good on a report, not actually help. We have had our Viking stove for about 8-years (it was part of the home when we bought it) and if I could've replaced it after the first year... I would have. It's an overpriced over-hyped piece of junk. In the first year, we had 4-service calls on it. The cooktop grates were unbalanced and wobble. When you turned on the gas to full "high" it smelled of gas. Two of the knobs cracked and broke within a few months. We ordered - more than once - new grates, some of which were fine... some of which still wobbled. In response to our complaint about the gas smell we were told "just don't turn it on so high." I couldn't believe it! We had to BUY new knobs for a ridiculous price!
We complained that the red light indicating the oven was always on. After trying to figure out what the problem was, we were told to "just ignore it." AMAZING! We finally got an outside source to figure out what the problem was. He was not fond of Viking either! The configuration with the oven's so low, it is back-breaking trying to get anything out of there. The shelves don't glide smoothly in and out of the oven. And Customer "Service" is pretty terrible, as well. We get the impression that once we've purchased the thing they couldn't be bothered with us anymore. Overall, I really am quite disappointed that a company that sells such expensive tools for the home doesn't really stand behind their products. Often, could not open door parallel to floor. Finally replaced both door hinges - at astronomical customs charges for delivery from USA - only to find that self-clean function now not working. Self-clean circuit board described, variously, as 'no longer available' to 'obsolete, do not have' to 'maybe we're getting new manufacturer but don't know how or when' to 'sorry, no substitute recommended'.
Have begun shopping new/used parts, incl eBay, world-wide, spending hours of time without success. Have fabulously expensive oven that is filthy. In addition, we've had to replace 3 ignitors, our repairman discovered that instructions for wiring were actually reversed from positions described in manual (EU 'compromises'?) and any part that costs US$100 direct from USA seemingly soars to more than 4 times that price once it reaches Ireland and our local recommended 'Viking supplier'.
