We did our brand new house so we had to do an entire kitchen and it's the last kitchen we'll do so we wanted something that we felt would last. We had heard that there were issues with Viking as far as repairs but my husband really wanted a Viking. There was some issue with registering the product and for some reason, the cards never reached them but when I had to call, the lady from customer service, Charlotte is the kindest, most patient and helpful person. She was magnificent and very empathetic.

We also had issues so early on which was a little disappointing. I have the Double French-Door Oven unit and there was a 100-degree difference. However, there's not a lot of people who service Viking in my area and it took four weeks to get someone out. But the person who came was extremely helpful, nice and professional. I liked him a lot. He fixed it so that was okay but then we had an issue with the oven that was under the range and he got everything taken care of at once.

I also wish Viking would reconsider what they put around the burner range to be a more durable, washable and scrubbable type of metal. Because if you try to use an abrasive, you wear off that surface and I'm a bit of a neat freak so it irks me a little bit that I can't keep that ring clean. The repairman said once the food is on it, there's really not much I can do to clean them. He even admitted that it was a definite drawback. But the range overall is fantastic and my favorite is that it cooks very efficiently and evenly.

I like my Viking Range very much. I like the design and the ruggedness, and just the reputation they have. My favorite feature of my range is the six-burner top. I had one service call under warranty on it and it was a very simple and easy fix. If I ever move, I'll buy another one.

Replaced a 15 year old 36" black Cooktop with this Stainless Viking Cooktop to match the rest of our kitchen. Didn't think I'd be this excited but it seems larger and better utilizes the 36" area, not to mention it fires up quickly and works great! Pots slide across the top seamlessly when you want to move them. On installation, just a small sliver of the sides of our counter opening had to be shaved off to fit, but each installation would be unique to your situation. Extremely pleased with our new Viking cooktop!

We purchased a Viking refrigerator in 2008. We have had continuous problems with it and have had times gone up to five months because the parts could not be delivered. Our latest problem began the end of June and the repairman is still waiting for the part to be delivered. While the repair service is competent I believe, they cannot do anything unless they have the parts. This is been a totally frustrating experience. Having paid for a very expensive and supposedly high-quality refrigerator it is frustrating to see how many times it has broken and how long it takes to get a repair. We also have a cheaper fridge purchased at the same time when we built our home and it continues to work just fine with no repairs as of today. I would not recommend Viking to anyone. Having just got off the phone with Joy from customer service she is a ray of hope.

This completes my ordeal with my Viking dishwasher. If you want to read the previous sordid details, please refer to my only other review on this site. Picking up a month ago, the dishwasher began to malfunction, not properly feeding the cleaning capsule. This was an intermittent problem until this last weekend, when it malfunctioned two times in a row. I called Viking and was told my warranty expired in March of this year. Keep in mind this was the second Viking dishwasher, the first having been replaced at no cost after it could not be repaired in five trips by the service people, over a period of seven weeks. Since I had my first Viking dishwasher purchased in March 2012, the longest period of time it has worked without needing a repair was 15 months.

I use my dishwasher perhaps one a week, so my calculations are that -- if you use yours daily and have the same amount of trouble I do -- you should be able to go around 2-3 months without needing a service call. My Viking fridge, microwave, and range work fine, by the way, but obviously, Viking has major problems both with the reliability of the dishwasher and with authorized service. I will never buy another Viking product--my new dishwasher is a Bosch. Please wish me luck.

VGBQ54224 NSS Viking 54" outdoor grill - I installed this BBQ less than 1.5 years ago and am finding extremely unacceptable parts failure already. Each one of the briquette trays which sit above the burners, have becoming structurally unsound, to the extent that the briquettes are now falling into the base of the grill from 1 of 4 of these trays. If I were to guess, it seems as though Viking received a bad batch of stainless steel, which would be the only feasible explanation for such premature failure. You'd figure with the Viking name, that quality is foremost, and such product inadequacies would be non-existent, let alone the price one pays for the Viking name. Extremely dissatisfied.

Back in 2013, I was going to do a remodel to my house kitchens with a centerpiece. It was gonna be open to all of the appliances and we’re going to be in view in the open area. I was looking for a bit more than the GEs but there’s quite a few to choose from and Viking was close. The Viking range is excellent. It’s the leader of the pack and we’re so happy with it. The burners can be quickly assembled for cleaning purposes and I like their layout. The range is very serviceable, very durable, and the oven is fantastic. The racks in the oven are extremely easy to move and work with, very heavy and it gives me a lot of confidence working with them. The stove has a dent in the back for the heat to come out and that creates a primary heat in the backslash. I don’t think there’s another stove out there that would beat Viking but they’ve got to get rid of the heat somewhere. There was absolutely no service calls on the range. It’s been perfect and it’s amazing.

I followed the "seasoning" directions for my range. After attempting to "season" the grill, it immediately rusted. When I contacted Viking about this problem; they responded first with having a certified personnel come out and take a look at the rust. Then when the personnel reported it back to Viking they responded with it was a "human error" and did nothing about this at all. I followed the "seasoning" procedures in their manual. Viking blamed me for the rust. Unprofessional and ridiculous.

Sales communications could have been better, as when the range arrived the installation was not scheduled. There is a bow in the bottom panel, and the gas ignites in the oven only %50 of the time, the other $50 of the time only smell gas - unfortunately two "whumphhh!" booms occurred inside which is how I discovered the gas does not ignite well - obviously a small explosion occurred and I will not use the oven.

The result so far after several months since I placed the order?: Service took two weeks to get scheduled for a repair date that is an additional three weeks out. I still have no idea if this is covered under warranty or if it can be fixed, I only know I waited for ever and have a nice looking range that is only %50 useful, and in general underperforms vs Thermador, which I would have bought had I not had my heart set on a specific color. I still have no oven to use, not worth it after several months experience (so far).

My friend had a Viking range and recommended it to us. We didn’t have a place for a double oven in the wall, so I wanted a large range and the Viking range happened to be available. We were looking at Wolf initially but the Viking range that we found and purchased was with the dual fuel and it was also the floor model. So it was over the top, but our kitchen is over the top as well, so it went with our kitchen. Also, the quality of the range is wonderful. I like the convection oven that I've never had before and I use it all the time. It definitely works a lot faster than other ovens.

We received a lot of appliances with different brands from the Viking dealer and the reps there were good. When we first had the Viking range installed, the convection fan was really loud and would rattle the floor when we put the convection oven on. They had somebody come out and replace the fan. It still gets a little loud, but it doesn’t do anymore what it did before, and we hope that we don’t have to ever deal with that situation again. They definitely rectified the situation promptly and that was really good. I will go back to Viking Ranges.

I looked at the Wolf, and every time I tried to play with the griddle, I had difficulty getting it out. That's why I went with the Viking over the Wolf. I love the burners and the fact that I could get super hot and piercing. However, I emailed the Viking rep that works with the store about the i-Thermometer that I was supposed to get. They didn't get back to me so I’ve got to email them again. I was also wondering about the iDevice that I didn’t get too. But all in all, it's been awesome with Viking Ranges.

Ten years ago, we saw Viking ranges when we did some other kitchen. We had bought a Samsung Dual Fuel and it was a month-old when it broke, so we sent it back. They brought us another one and that one broke too, so we decided not to go to Samsung anymore. We went out to look for a stove and where we had just remodeled our bathroom, they had a kitchen display for all their kitchen wares and were moving showroom, so all their kitchen stuff were on sale. The Viking Range was 50% off. It was $6,000 but we got it for $3,000. We were looking for a stove, so why not?

I've only had it a couple of months, but I like it. However, I'm not crazy about how I can't get it to simmer low enough, and the blue light that clicks off and on, so I don't really ever know when the oven's preheated. There's no bell that dings and says that it's ready, so I'm constantly looking at that light to see if it has preheated, and I wish there was. Also, I miss my drawer in the bottom where I kept all my cookie sheets and stuff, and the Viking Range doesn't have it. We had to take our microwave out and get a downdraft, and that was a bummer. It wasn't really a Viking dealer who sold it to me. It was a Ferguson's Plumbing lady who did. On the other hand, one thing I do like about it real well, is the way the telescopic tray pulls out in the center.

My wife researched Viking Ranges online since we’ve seen them before at different houses. She was happy with the price and the package that she got. We got a white range with a big scratch on it and it took six months to get a new kit panel. My experiences with Viking are not very good. But the range is great except for the scratch.

The people who sold us the appliances dealt with the Viking dealership and they’re absolutely terrible. I would get a call on a Monday and she would tell me I’m going to hear from Viking and they would tell me what they're going to do. But we never got a call. And at the end of the week, I’d call them and tell them we didn’t get a call this week. And they would say we didn't get a callback because she was busy or it was the Fourth of July or the Memorial Day or a Flag Day. We weren’t happy when we received it. It also took a long time to get anything. They need to send somebody else who knows what they’re doing besides analyzing what the repairman did! I’m not impressed at all. It’s been an unbelievably poor experience.

We completely renovated our kitchen with new cabinets, marble counters, and all Viking Pro stainless steel built in appliances with the sole exception being the Bosch dishwasher. In the 10 years since we purchased the appliances, we have had repeated problems, year after year, with the double ovens (VED0127SS), microwave (VMOR205SS), nat. gas cooktop (VGSU1626BSS), cooktop downdraft (VIPR161SS), and refrigerator (VCSB423DSS). We paid $19,115 for what we thought were the top of the line appliances. Their service providers do not help much, and their customer service is terrible and useless. In hindsight, we should have kept our GE Profile appliances that came with the original home purchase and had no problems. Viking claims to have very satisfied customers but I have not encountered one. I will go out of my way to not recommend Viking appliances to all including my enemies.

I am almost certain that my Viking Range was not installed properly. I have a video recording when it's in convection mode and it sounds like an airplane taking off. There's something that's not right and I have to figure that out. I don’t know if it’s a defect from Viking or if it was something that happened during the installation. Nevertheless, my initial impression of the cooktop is that it's fabulous and it has really high output burners. I love the way the range looks too. Still, Viking Ranges are extremely expensive so the quality better match. This range was $9,000 and it doesn't even have a timing feature on it.

The contact at Best Buy that helped us with the purchase was very good and very attentive. But the installation was a miserable experience. The people who came who had to be certified Viking installers didn't appear to have any special skills nor abilities. They were private contractors, not Best Buy employees. Now, I have to call in Best Buy to send someone to check the installation. Still, Best Buy did a good job representing Viking Ranges and was very knowledgeable about the product's features and functions while I was purchasing.

So I did the whole digging and Viking had a better reputation in the past, but it still has a good one right now. The oven was the main seller and once we decided to get that, the rest of the appliances followed. I found Viking on Frederick’s Appliances on Amazon initially and I ended up buying all my Viking directly there. They had better prices than all the stores. We like them so much and the griddle is my favorite feature by far.

Viking Ranges has really good quality. However, we've had some trouble with our smaller compartment in Viking. It doesn’t work perfectly sometimes and we've had technicians coming over but it’s mostly being blamed on the altitude. We’re at 7,000 ft. We hardly ever use it, so I haven’t called them back. We'll call consumer department and see what they say. On the stove part, I have to make coffee and I set down a diffuser because the openings on this grate are too large to hold my little Bialetti coffeemaker. The quality of the range is okay although it's not as well-thought-through as we might have thought it would be. The inability to effectively clean it is the most disappointing part of it. That part arrived broken (or the service man broke it) and we waited another three weeks for the part to arrive. The part was in stock according to the Viking parts rep, so that delay is not acceptable. The functioning of both the microwave and oven are fine not great (can't use timer on microwave if it's heating something and it's unclear when the oven has reached the desired preheat temperature). All these issues make it highly doubtful we'd purchase or recommend Viking again.

I like to cook and I wanted a gas range. Initially, I looked at the Wolf one which was a very nice range but the Viking range was less expensive. Plus, my best friend Jody has a Viking range and she likes hers so that was good. It fit in my space as well so it was economical and it was still an upper-end range. It's been installed for about two months but I've only used it three times now for various reasons. It takes a very long time to heat up to temperature so that I can start cooking. And the other day, I was cooking and I was wondering whether it runs or goes off when it is at temperature. I still can't figure it out and I have to get used to it so it's not confusing.

However, the installation was dicey from the beginning and that was frustrating to me. I was under the impression he was a Viking installer who knew how to install Viking products, but he wasn’t and it was a nightmare. I also got the convection microwave hood and the installer separated the bottom of the microwave to shove the deflector between the bottom plate and the microwave. The deflector and screw were falling off of my microwave. It was leveled left to right but it wasn't leveled front to back and it was tilting so far forward that things were rolling out of the microwave. I asked him if he can put something behind it to support the whole thing. He got sassy and said that it’s an older house and that happens.

I called Viking about it and talked to five different people. The first gentleman was so kind and said he was sorry. The first young lady I got after him was also really great. Then I got to talk to the next rep when it came to having to arrange having to arrange to have somebody to come out, I was told that I could pay somebody to come out and look at it because they don't do installations. They also said that they don’t train people to do the installations and that the instructions are online. So I should look online to see how to install my Viking range and microwave myself and tell the installers how to install it? I don't think so. They're not even typical stick it in and plug it in products.

It didn't make sense to me that they’re all behind quality and made in America but they don’t train people to install their products. And when they’re not installed properly, it's not covered by warranty. If they don't train their people to install their products then they don't have to be responsible for the warranty. It's bad business. Also, when I asked them to give me a name of anybody who can install the appliances, they told me that they can’t recommend anybody. The only thing that Viking would cover was if something was wrong with the products under warranty. So Viking has repair people but they can’t recommend anybody to do the installations. It's a stupid system.

I went around and around with these people and I was very upset and distressed. In fact, I told them that I'm an unhappy customer with nearly $18,000 worth of appliances sitting here that I can't use because Viking doesn't care that they’re in working order so I can enjoy them. Then, they said they could send somebody out and but it’s $100 an hour and since I don't live near any place where they keep anybody, I have to pay a trip charge. But it already cost me $430 to get the products installed and they weren’t installed properly. I was also told to call Best Buy instead because that’s where I bought the appliances and they're the ones who are going to care if the products are installed since it's their reputation. I never received a letter from Viking and I would have also appreciated if somebody would call me instead of me leaving voicemails for people to call me back.

So I have this beautiful convection microwave and this Viking range that I have to wait four weeks for somebody to come out and look at them. I'm not impressed with Viking’s service and I’m extremely dissatisfied with my experience. I’m also very unhappy with the way I was treated and the attitude of their reps. Then, now that the range is under a year, Viking came and took a look at it, only to find out that the knobs are not even on the right place on the stove. That's why it still was not working. I’m done with Viking and I would not recommend them to anybody.

It came with a warming shelf that does not come down to the right angle. And the customer service kept telling me that's the way the shelf was made. It's been frustrating to try to get this one issue resolved. Then I get lots of calls from the customer service wanting surveys done. But I never get calls from the people that needed to fix the range. They should follow up with me and fix the problem. Overall, the product is good but the customer service isn't.

I finally called directly and talked to a gentleman who said my part should ship in 2 business days. IT DID NOT, in fact there was no "part" but rather the next time I called Viking Parts directly, I was told that they were manufacturing a whole new door. The second experience was good with Melody **. She kept me up to date and watched my order but honestly ONE PLUS MONTH for a part?? Luckily my kids have moved out but to not have an oven for more than one month is not acceptable as far as I am concerned.

We just bought the Viking 5 series. The grate started flaking when I first used it and left black flakes on the stove. And to make it worse the stove discolors with just the most basic use and it requires serious scrubbing to get the grime off the stainless steel part around the burner. This is absolutely not what I expected when I paid over $3500 for this cooktop range.

I did a lot of research on the internet on various high-end stoves and I looked to see about the problems with repairs. I knew that Viking was having a lot of issues before it was bought out a few years ago, but I saw that they had redone a lot of the parts and re-designed them. Their newer reviews were fine, too. They were pretty similar to the other high-end stoves. So, my wife decided Viking was the one she liked the most based on the way it looked.

However, there was a scratch which was fairly deep on the stove door. It was installed about a month ago and I didn’t notice until right after the installers left. I was looking at the back of the stove when they took it off the truck. So I called up the store and sent them a picture right away. They acknowledged that it was obviously a problem because it's not caused by me. I suggested they just send me a door and I would replace it myself as it is easy to install. I would just send them the old one if they wanted to. But Viking wouldn’t do that for some reason. They sent me a whole new stove.

We also got side trim because we have a stone countertop that didn’t have a perfectly straight edge. The side trim makes the stove look like a slide-in type range. We couldn’t use the screws to install the side trim because they stick out and we can’t fit in a normal countertop within a 30-inch distance. It was kind of odd, but it’s no big deal. We just used the side trim and laid it in there, and it worked fine. Other than those, everything's fine. My wife is happy with the Viking stove. She loves it. We like the top of the stove the most. Also, when I had a question about how to remove the lower grate, the Viking rep answered the question right away.

My husband did his research online about the stoves and he surprised me with a Viking for my 50th birthday. He bought it at Ferguson and had a wonderful experience with the saleswoman. He was told it was an updated version of the stove and it fit perfectly into our space. We're in a walk-up and the installation team, the two gentlemen that came and delivered, did a hell of a job. Everything went so smoothly.

The stove is wonderful and beautiful. Plus, I love that the knobs have not only low, medium, high, but low medium. Because when you're doing a recipe, it goes medium low. So I like that it has more temperature points than just low, medium, high. However, the booklet was talking about how to broil and to make sure to use the broiling pan, and I was disappointed that the stove didn't come with a broiling pan. I assumed there'd be one. I would have kept the one from my GE stove, but I threw it out. Also, after using nonprofessional stoves my whole adult life, I'm having a hard time getting used to a stove that doesn't have a timer. I'm getting better with it but it's a weird change. But overall, the service and the product are excellent.

I called the customer support when I had issues with it. They’re professional. They gave me a number for their local dealer out here and I called them up. Viking themselves have done a really good job and then the contractor is satisfactory as far as my dealings with them.

I’ve owned three Viking Ranges before and it’s less expensive than a Wolf. For the dollar, the quality's okay. I would probably have a different type of seal around the burner, a different oxider paint on the grating on the top, a more commercial look or feel to it as well as the balance of internal oven temperature to change its quality. But I like that it’s got a good clean look from the front appearance and its ability to find different configurations on the top burner versus flat top versus grill.

Right now, I’m waiting 16 days for a service from the dealer for fulfillment on it. The hinges on the oven door are not working properly. They’ve passed me off to a secondary person, which is from elite to American which is their repair install group. Also, the first Viking fridge that I bought did not hit temp ever and it took over a week to get back up. I also bought a Viking refrigerator drawer set that as "full and brand new box set," and it broke down, and they would not repair it. It was too expensive for the warranty to work, so they wanted to credit me back my money. It was a poor experience with their dealer.

Viking Ranges popped up as being nearest to my house when I did an online search. I like the brand. The stove is great, reliable and is a beautiful piece. They’re known for that but unfortunately, that’s the only thing they’re known for. I have the hood on top of the vent but it stopped working so, I called them. The customer service was very short. When some guy came out, he said that he had to change the whole part and he was going to overcharge me for something. But I was able to fix it by myself and it was just a loose wire. I grabbed a screwdriver, took it apart, took the thing out and then was able to put the wire back in place and now it works fine. It was pretty evident what was going on where it was a failure in the switch but they tried to scam me and make me buy a whole new piece which is ridiculous to me.

I also have a Viking dishwasher and I figured that they could fix it. The technicians came out, was very nice and he did his best trying to fix the problem. He accomplished it ‘cause the dishwasher started working again but it was for half a day. The next day it stopped working and continued to be clogged. When I called back the technician to see if he could come back and repair it again, he never showed. He said he would call back and see if he would reappear but he never did. Eventually, I stopped calling him and I had to call a new place. I had to pay for somebody who will fix everything that the Viking technician wasn't able to fix. I was charged twice to get the repair.

After that, I was reading reviews online and thought I should’ve gone with the different dishwasher. Viking doesn’t seem to have a very reliable dishwasher. The dishwasher is terrible. It keeps breaking down, flooding, it’s not easy to use, and it’s a disaster. On the whole, Viking is known for being exceptional and I have no complaints with the stove. It's phenomenal and it always works out great. But I would totally advise others to buy a different brand of dishwasher.

At first, when my Viking range was installed, the installers pushed it too far back and the cord broke when it got pinched between the gas line and the stove. When I was ready to clean it, the main big oven never shut off. It's like it never got to the heating temperature and it just heated well exceedingly. So it burns up the igniter and some other part because the oven got too hot. I couldn't even touch the stainless steel on top of the stove. I'd washed the whole thing like I was supposed to and then I'm supposed to run the oven at 450 degrees for an hour to an hour and a half to burn everything out. And I found out that it got so hot and it would work until it melted everything.

The Monarch people came and replaced the cord but it still didn't work. So the Viking rep came out, replaced the cord with a Viking approved one and replaced some other parts but it still didn't work. Two weeks ago, he came back out again, replaced some more parts and then ignited it. It didn't work, it didn't shut the heat down and then he started looking at the wiring and he found that the wire that was connected to the knobs was connected to the wire to the griddle and vice versa. So when we turn the oven on, it thought it was heating the griddle but was never getting heated so that's why the oven never shut off. He fixed those two wires that were crossed and then the oven started working again. But that night, we were starting the oven and then the igniter kept shutting itself off. It would try and ignite after five times and then it just quit. So, we're still trying to get it fixed and he scheduled to come back again to look at that.

This has been going on since the Viking range was delivered to our house. I am nearing two months that we've had the stove and it's still not working properly. It seems that even have they not pinched the cord, because of the wiring issues which we didn't know about, the oven would have still done the same thing. It just happened to be something that happened that we thought might have caused the problem while in retrospect, it didn't. When we bought it, it was a floor model and we knew that. However, we did not know at the time, we didn't ask and they didn't disclose, that it was seven years old so, there was no warranty on it. I've got all the emails from them that states everything they're saying they asked their Viking reps and Viking is not really standing behind the product because it was a seven-year-old floor model. That would make a big difference in our decision to purchasing.

When we bought this stove, we were offered at the time an extended warranty for five years for $400. We thought that it's a Viking stove and we're paying $8,000 for it. It should have the factory warranty so we chose not to buy the additional warranty. But then, when we started having problems with it right away from day one, I wanted to buy the additional warranty. I asked if it is too late to do it because we were not told that this Viking stove is seven years old and we wanted to protect ourselves. And I found out that they should never have offered us the extended warranty because the stove was over five years old, that it was their mistake to offer us that warranty and that we cannot get any Viking warranty because of the age of the stove. It sounds ridiculous to me because it's still a brand new stove.

But they have been paying for all the repairs because I went online and I registered the Viking product. They gave me a 90-day warranty for doing that. I'm trying to get everything done within this 90 day because after that and if we have issues, I don't know what we're gonna do. I'm sure that the repair person is in contact with Viking because that's how he's getting paid. So now, my husband and I feel that when it was put together, the manufacturer miss-wired it.

Also, I strongly feel that especially because there was manufacturer problem in the range and because it sat for seven years, it would have been a problem they would have had with ranges sold seven years ago. So, personally, I feel like we should have more warranty because I don't know that we're gonna have everything that could happen, happen in 90 days. But I told them that I'm not paying a dime to repair the stove and if it can't get fixed, then they can take it back and I want my money back.

My experience has not been great. I feel like Viking is dropping the ball with standing behind their product as the manufacturer. But I don't know if they know that the wiring issues were their fault. Whoever put the stove together made a mistake. Between the stove and the hood, we've spent $10,000 so we're not talking about a $1,500 stove. I've been very patient, I sent numerous emails and I'd let Monarch know what happened and where we stand. I'm not happy and I feel like we need to have a warranty. But their stand is they can't offer us any warranty that Viking won't back.

All in all, if we can ever get it working properly, we can use the small oven but not the big one. It's my husband and me right now so it hasn't been an issue but if we have a dinner party, it would be. Also, I am a little concerned that I'm only getting a 90-day warranty, I'm two months into this, I still don't have a working stove and what's gonna happen at the end of the next 30 days because it was faulty wiring which caused all the damage to my stove. The repair guy is out at South Lake Tahoe and I live in Sparks, Nevada so it's an hour and 20-minute drive for him. He only goes to the Reno-Sparks area on Thursdays. So he'll come out on Thursday and then if there are issues after he leaves, then he's not coming back 'till the following Thursday. I thought he was gonna come last Thursday and he didn't put me on the schedule. So I have to wait until this Thursday and it's eating up my time.

I have gotten nowhere because I'm always the third party person dealing with Viking. The repair person talked to Viking, Monarch talked to their Viking reps and I haven't had anybody from Viking contact me to talk to me about my issues. I told Monarch that if this can't be resolved, I'm returning it and I want a full refund. If I have issues, then I will contact the appropriate department. They need to make this right. I'm trying to be very reasonable and I'm starting to get to the point where I'm not gonna be. I am one of those people that try and work with everybody. Things happen and it doesn't do any good to get all upset. It's not the sales person's fault. But I'm starting to get to the point where frustration is starting to set in. But we love the range and the parts that are working. We love everything we've used on the stove, the small oven and the broiler.

Based on the fact that the unit has been out of our possession for 7 years we cannot determine that this is a manufacturing defect and not something that happened during that time period. Viking does not sell extended warranties however we did provide the dealer a 90 day warranty. This warranty was provided so that they had the ability to sell you an extended warranty thru another company. Your dealer should be able to assist you with an extended warranty.

Viking Ranges were at the store that we went to. We talked to a Viking rep and also to the salesman and our experience was very pleasant. They were very knowledgeable about the product. We got the six-burner range and we liked the size of the range and the burners. The quality is also very good. I like the convection oven because I’ve never had one. The range is everything we wanted it to be. It’s very easy to use and easy clean.

I knew about Viking Ranges long ago from listening to my clients. After pricing the products towards the end of the year, Viking had a better promotion. I picked the range that I wanted online, went in, and paid for it. My favorite about it is its easiness of use, though I had expected more with the range’s quality for the price that I spent on it. But everything was perfect with Viking. They were also very good about sending someone to fix the range when one of the burners wasn’t working. It took them a couple of weeks to send somebody out.

The Viking Range is really good and I like their burner power feature. However, we ended up getting one that we didn't even buy which is the appliance dealers' fault. We bought the six-burner series with the griddle in the middle but ended up with an eight-burner that they installed. We were not here during the install, which is fine. I’m not upset about that. But trying to get the griddle and our money back has been a chore and we have been at it for two months and can't understand why it hasn't been done. The guy who owns the place is extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot when we went to see him and he did a wonderful job on the install but the follow-up items after the fact have just been a nightmare for us. But as far as the range goes, my wife absolutely loves it.

We had an old FiveStar 48-inch and we were the second owner and it was on its last legs, so we decided to get a new one instead of spending a lot of money fixing it up. But of course we had a 48-inch space, so we needed a big oven to fill that space instead of redoing the counters. My wife looked at Wolf, Thermador, and the likes and they were all comparably priced. Viking was on the higher end, but one of the main things that had my wife decide was that she was able to get it in colors. Also, she had worked in the restaurant business before and had used Viking on the commercial side. So she knew that they held up and they lasted.

The Viking Range works as advertised. It has a griddle and a convection feature. It also has a small oven for a casserole dish and a big one that would fit a full-size cookie sheet with room to spare. We bought it in a store and the dealer was helpful and courteous. They also answered all our questions. However, we had to wait for 12 weeks because of the color but on the day we decided to buy it, we were in and out of there in no time at all.

We were in the midst of buying a new range and I wanted to see which one was rated the best. We found one that had a good rating and that's what we went in to go look at at PC Richard. But then, my wife saw Viking and the store was running a really good sale on it. My wife liked the way the Viking range looked and she said she always wanted one, so we got one. When we bought it, PC Richard gave my wife a free five-year plan and they also claimed that we can return something within 30 days if we weren't happy with it.

It wasn't in a day or two when we smelled gas leaking. We called PC Richard and they told us we had to call Viking. Nobody would come out unless we call the gas company to come out. So, the gas company had to come out and they had to sniff on the range to determine that it was leaking and it wasn’t the gas pipe. We called Viking back, they sent a serviceman out, it has been a couple of days and we're still waiting for Viking to give the parts to the serviceman so he can come in and install it. It’s been going on a little over a week now.

With the amount of money we paid and the range giving us a problem on the first day, my wife wanted to send it back. Then, all of a sudden, PC Richard said, “You can't.” They pointed to this little obscure sign in the back of the counter that says, “No returns on appliances.” My wife wasn't happy with that. We didn't see it at that time and it wasn't brought up when we bought the range that you don't have any options.

We researched Viking and found online that people were having problems with them. People complained about the service and the length of time to get parts. We brought that up when we ordered the range because we went to PC Richard to cancel the next day before we even accepted and they kept telling to us how great the range was. It was just a sales pitch. If I had to do it all over again, I would not buy Viking.

In Memphis, a lot of the really nice and elegant restaurants choose to use Viking products because of their quality and service. I purchased the Viking products from one of their suppliers, Metro Appliances, out at Jonesboro, Arkansas. The salesperson was great to deal with. He was very positive, upbeat and promotional for Viking and all other varieties that they’re carrying. That was a wonderful experience. But upon receiving my brand-new kitchen suite, the refrigerator had to be repaired instead of completely replaced. The doors were out of alignment and will not be fixed and upon the receiving my ice maker, it didn’t work and had to be completely replaced. I have had issues with my refrigerator going out already. I had to wait over a two-week service while all of my food was spoiled.

Also, I currently have a problem with my microwave where the screen has gone out. I have already waited a week and a half and have yet to see the first person come and see what the problem is. I’ve made phone calls and chased all of these people around and I get very poor service for a $25,000 kitchen suite, professional series. But that’s the way they choose to run their business and promote their products and services. I would have been better off going with Whirlpool or Maytag.

When I was reading the reviews, there was an oven from Viking that was great for baking and cooking. And since I’m a big baker, I decided to get one. I bought it from Best Buy and initially, I bought it with the floor model which came completely destroyed. I was so upset. This oven costs $6,000 and granted, I got the floor model so I got a discount but it doesn’t matter if it’s the original price. It was a little chaotic but they were very nice enough to swap it out for a brand new one. The manager was very forthcoming to exchange my oven and everything was fine.

The quality is great. I’ve only had it for two months now and it seems durable. The only thing I get a little upset about is that I can’t have my oven and burner on at the same time. When the oven’s on, the fan starts and it starts cooling until it keeps the temperature. Then, the air from inside comes out from the back of the oven and blows towards the burner. So when I have the flame on, the flame is not steady and it’s like putting a flame in the wind. It’s like boiling all over the place. I also called the company when my broiler wasn’t turning on, and they sent someone. I asked if they sell anything that maybe blocks the wind and instead of coming straight towards the burners, they’d be going upward. But their rep said there isn’t anything. I thought it was simple and I don’t think I’m the first person that had that problem.

We had built a new home and were interested in top of the line appliances. Wolf and Viking Ranges stood out, but we decided to go with Viking since we got a good price from them and it fits what I was looking for. I got a six-burner range, a grill and two ovens from them. In my kitchen, I have a total of three ovens since we do a lot of the holiday stuff here. It works out beautifully when I’m doing Thanksgiving, Christmas or when I’m trying to cook a big meal. I have enough room for everything. The top is gas and the ovens are electric. I love the fact that I have a griddle there. Everyone can be working on something so it works out well for my family.

We’ve had a good experience, up until we're trying to get the small oven fixed. We had a problem with it and a chip needed to be replaced. So we had the workman out and we're waiting for him to replace it. We had to argue a little to get them to come out to fix what was wrong and that was a bit of a problem. I got upset but my husband managed to calm down and get them to do what they needed to do to repair the oven. But I'm still waiting for it to be fixed.

We were looking at all the high end range brands and went into Best Buy and had a look at Viking. We liked what we saw and the price was more economical for the quality that we get compared to the others. We had a very good sales rep who was able go into detail about a Viking range and what to expect from it versus a lower end priced brand. He explained things like how to clean the oven and how high heat with the self-cleaning ovens would typically end up destroying the integrity of the inside enameling. He gave a variety of information about little details that we would not think of.

We got the series 5 which is easy to clean and does not deteriorate compared to the standard stove. It also cooks differently as there's an even heat. Plus, it also comes with the pull-out drawer in the oven which I love. My only two gripes is my particular series doesn’t come with a timer where I can time the temperature within the oven or have a timer right there on my stove if I’m baking a cake. We went back a second time looking for the timer and the salesman said it’s been discontinued and was only available to a certain model. The other one is I can’t seem to remove any stains from the golden-looking metal that extrudes from the surface of the stove top where the burner is without scratching it. I’ve used soap and water and I’m afraid to do anything else because I don’t wanna destroy the surface. Other than those, it’s a nice-looking range.

When we bought the house, it was a new construction. Apple Homes has been building since the Truman administration and we went with the quality and reputation of the builder. I've had a number of different houses and appliances like Wolf, Thermador, Sub-Zero and LG. The appliances I was really satisfied with was Wolf but I've always wanted Viking. Then this house had Viking and one of the considerations when we bought it was having the appliances we liked.

We had used the Viking range for almost a year and then it freaked everybody out during a dinner party, because as my girlfriend opened it up, the door literally came off in her hand and when she let down, it hit the floor pretty hard. The range is a Professional and it has a heavy door. It was lucky it didn't land on her foot as the door could've broken it. There was only one service tech in this area and that’s who came out and put the door on. He also said that when it was installed, it may not have had the door adjusted right because it was bent and it fell out. From what Apple Homes told me, the installer was Viking-approved because they got it from whoever could sell Viking. Yet they did it incorrectly so it's like damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Plus, we've had problems with the Viking refrigerator too. The ice machine goes everywhere when we use it and it doesn't click off. It's just poor design. I even thought it was a Professional but the service person told us it was actually another manufacturer that did that particular model for Viking. It wasn't really a Viking. That's very misleading and I wasn't aware of that.

The service cost us $100 because when the service person came out, they said he couldn't find our warranty online and we couldn't find copies either. We had sent all the registration and we dated it from when we first moved in. So we got it again from the builder and refilled it out. However, the service guy did say that Viking might reimburse the $100 service call fee. This happened just right after our first year and I'm not sure but I think appliances got more than a one-year warranty. I hope so, for something that expensive. Hopefully it won't have any other issues because we like the way it cooks. We loved the stove and we would've recommended it until the door fell off. When that happened, we hated it.

The range has met my expectations, with one exception having to do with the temperature of the oven not being accurate. If you set it to 350 degrees, it is not 350 degrees. It’s actually around 325 degrees. Viking ranges are very nice, not necessarily all of them, but we’re very happy with the style and appearance of the Series 3 model. They seemed to have dealt with those questions before or the saleslady might even own one, so she was able to speak about personal experiences too. We like all the features that came with the range and it has been really good. We haven't had a gas stove before, so the fact that everything heats up really quickly is awesome to us. Plus it looks really good in our kitchen. We bought it back in the fall, but only got it installed in February, so we're still sort of in a trial period of using it. It still feels pretty new, but everything we've thrown at it so far, it's done exceptionally. It's the best stove I've ever owned.

I don’t necessarily know how to clean out the vented area and that’s the depressing stuff that I don’t like about it. On the other hand, my dishwasher is like an expensive drying rack and Viking doesn’t know when they're going to get the parts to me. I would love it if it works just like the oven did. Our countertops are being replaced, so I have nowhere to wash dishes right now. The other thing is when I tried to register my appliances online. It was just really weird. For whatever reason, the model numbers that are on the appliances has to be entered differently. I had to call in the center because there was one too many numbers are not enough but their staff was super nice.

I wanted a restaurant quality range for my house because I do a lot of cooking and I wanted something that was gonna last. I know Viking lasts a long time. The dealership took care of me because we do so much business with them since I'm a mechanical contractor by trade. I got a good range from Viking. Originally, when I was looking up the part number when I ordered it, I thought I ordered the sealed burners. But when it came to me, they were the open burners, which I decided to go ahead and live with. When I went back and checked the part number, it was my mistake. Other than that, my purchase was exactly what I expected. I like the feature of being able to pull the tray out and clean it so I’m happy with it.

I didn’t have a Viking before, personally but I’ve used them though not for myself. All the burners are the same BTU and they all have a simmer function. However, I can’t tell the difference by putting it on simmer, which is like a selection right before high or turning it all the way down to low. The flame looks the same to me. It’s just a very low flame on this big burner. If I need to simmer something, I crank it all the way down to low and it’s simmering.

When I bought my Viking, I bought a six-burner range but I only got four of the burner covers in the box that it’s shipped in so I sent an email to a rep. It went to Viking and then it ended up bouncing to a couple of different people. It went from customer service to parts. It was a lot of back and forth and it must have been 12 emails to finally get it sorted out with all these different people that they needed to send me two more burner covers. So that was a little weird. They eventually did send them which took two weeks. But a week later, I got another set of two burner covers. So, there was a little disconnect there. They were kind of screwed up on the parts side of it and now, I got two extras. But overall, I would absolutely recommend Viking. They’re topnotch in quality and service.

We did a professional kitchen with a remodel and really liked it. My husband likes the Viking range's ability to sear steaks. He actually likes the steaks in the oven better than on the grill now.

The only thing I don't like about the oven is when you close the door, it really wants to close. The first time I went to close it, it slipped out of my hand and it slammed shut. You have to really hold on to the door, unlike other stoves where there's some tension at the end and it won't shut all the way until you push it to close. Other than that, I've put some water on the stove and I was amazed. I put it on the front burner, the high BTUs, and the water heated up. It was boiling within a couple of minutes and it was very nice to be able to have the features that allow it to work as well as it does. We've enjoyed the range and I would recommend it.

I kept contacting Viking directly and it took a long time. Finally I had to call the dealer back and say, “Look, you gotta help me here.” And they did. They found me somebody to service within the area. It was great but Viking itself is hard to access. They need to be more user-friendly. Getting treatment for the one that was broken and wouldn’t open was impossible.

We got a new one because it was the only thing that fit into the space that we have on short notice because I was giving a party for about a hundred people. I’ve always had a problem getting people to service a Viking because I’ve been told by the service providers that Viking doesn’t treat them very well. Also, I’ve had some significant issues getting parts for Vikings. I’ve had microwaves and dishwashers and there’s always an issue getting parts so I always pray that nothing breaks on it. It gives me anxiety to think about calling Viking and ordering a part. If I have to call Mississippi and order parts for Viking, I almost would rather go out and buy a piece of new appliance. I previously had an electric range and it's not even in comparison with my Viking range, not even close.

However, we recently had to get two of the switches replaced for the ovens and the ovens were down for almost a month. There are only 2 companies authorized to work on them through Viking and the D&T Appliance is not a very good company. Viking had over 300 of the parts in stock, but it took forever to send them and get my ovens fixed. We're in the process of selling the house and I don't know if I'll buy another Viking because of that. Viking knows there's something wrong with it. They won't have 300 of those parts in stock if those switches weren't bad. I love my Viking range but I don't know if I would recommend it because of the customer service. If there’s nothing with it, it’s the best range out there. If something goes wrong with it, good luck.

Updated on 12/23/2018: Viking contacted me a few weeks after I posted the below review in May 2017, and asked if they could send a local area authorized Viking repair technician to come out and look at my D-3 Dual-fuel 30" (RDSCD2305BIB), which I agreed to. The tech came out not long after, I explained all the problems and prior two service repairs by the store I purchased through (Abt), showed him pictures of a pizza I cooked (I included photos with original review), the bottom was still pale and not cooked, the top was almost burnt. He assessed the oven, made a phone call and determined what parts needed to be replaced, including part for the burners, which spontaneously adjust the flames on occasion. He put the order in, but was not completely sure this would fix the problems. I waited several weeks until parts came in and technician came back.

I was hopeful on this 3rd time fixing on an expensive oven, but to no avail. The oven temperatures are still not regulating correctly, they don't hold or get too hot, takes far too long to heat up, and still doesn't cook/bake food properly. My most recent baking "fail" was a homemade apple pie I made for Thanksgiving, a pie I've made many times in many ovens with no issues. I followed my normal process, but within the first 20 minutes the top crust was starting to burn, so I covered with foil and kept baking because the rest and bottom still needing more time. When it was time to take out, it was a disaster, it wasn't an apple pie, it had cooked it into an APPLESAUCE pie! I've never had this happen before, there was nothing salvageable and ended up in the garbage.

This range is terrible and a complete waste of money, I'm so disappointed since Viking used to be a quality brand, in hindsight I wish I had bought something different, I'm glad I didn't buy Viking for my other appliances. Everyone I tell what's been happening says Viking should have replaced with a new unit by now.

I will say again, I will never buy another Viking product again or recommend. I feel that I have been patient and trying to work through these problems, I enjoy cooking and baking, but not with this oven, it's too frustrating and irritating, but I can't justify spending money to buy a new, different oven.

Original Review: I did a kitchen gut renovation in 2013 with all new appliances. I wanted to do a dual-fuel because I read those were better for cooking. I researched a lot of options. At the time when I was shopping in 2012, the Viking D3 was still kind of new, but I didn't see any negative reviews and I always had heard Viking was a good brand. I proceeded to purchase the D3 dual-fuel 30" range in a color that is no longer an option and matching hood to coordinate with a color scheme in my kitchen (pop of color) and I don't like stainless, the range was $3400 and the hood $2000. The reputable company I ordered this through and who did the install, had a tech come out to make sure the ventilation parts were installed correctly on the hood, all was good.

The range and hood were installed in 2013 and all seemed fine. Not long after, I was cooking something in the oven and the bottom was not cooked properly. I later cooked some pizzas, all them came out with the underside almost raw (pale colored too), but the top cooked fine. I called the company who I ordered through, technician came out and said the Molex(?) part had not been connected at the warehouse. It was still covered under warranty. Keep cooking things and still the same issues. I cooked a pizza once directly on the bottom rack, the underside should have been almost charred, but it was mostly uncooked, the topside was almost burnt (pictures shown).

Called again (May 2015) and said it must be something with the cooking element and will order a new part, of which they called me back to say Viking told them the part would not be available until August, 3 months?! I felt that was unacceptable and emailed Viking directly telling them it was ridiculous I had to wait that long for a part when given how much I spent on this range and it doesn't cook properly, Viking rep apologized and shortly thereafter the part arrived in about 2-3 weeks.

I also in this time experienced an issue with the vent hood, I was cooking something that kicked up smoke, I turned on the hood and the smoke curled around the hood not into it, I ended up having to open windows to air out kitchen. The technician came out, installed the new part, I told him about the vent hood, said all looked hooked up correctly and I told him what we had to do before installation, he subsequently called Viking who had no answers for him.

So the new part was installed and it has made no difference at all. I have a separate temperature gauge for the oven and it never heats to the proper temperature, food doesn't cook properly, I have to monitor it closely. I have to heat the oven at least 30 minutes or more and there's no indicator of when it's "ready", the blue light on the front is useless except to tell me the oven is on. Once I was cooking something that needed to be cooked at 450(F), after 30 minutes I opened the oven and the gauge said it was over 525-degrees. The gas burners are average, they never seem to be at the correct level according to the dial, and the flames adjust themselves at times. I haven't even tried the broil or convection options, too concerned what might happen.

It has been extremely frustrating and not pleasurable cooking with this range as it's so unpredictable, doesn't cook/bake foods properly. I've spent all this money for something that looks pretty, and a total waste of $, I truly regret buying it and would never buy another Viking product or recommend it to others. People come into my kitchen and say what a pretty oven and cool color, which I tell them yes it's pretty, but it's a piece of crap. My other appliances (Whirlpool and GE) have been working great since I bought them through same vendor, no servicing since buying in 2013. I had better cooking experiences on my old, cheap all electric oven, even the cheap one before that, which was 20 years old.

Of course the Viking range is out of warranty now and I'm stuck with this hunk of junk and based on what I've heard of Viking customer service and reviews, I don't expect them to be much help. They should replace it. I see they are still selling these models, but are just calling it the Series 3. I can't justify spending the money buying a new range and hood. It's an oven, it shouldn't be that complicated to manufacture something that works properly for that kind of money.

My friends have Viking Ranges and I like their price so I got one too. However, the handle on my oven door broke so I put in a service request over a month ago and their technician came and ordered the parts for the door, and I haven't heard from them since. All the fans are not working either. It makes a loud noise and it doesn't heat up properly. I have no oven for over a month now and I can't get anyone to come over and fix it. I have three teenagers and I can't entertain, and I wasn't able to entertain last Easter. I sent a nasty email last week and they told me that the parts take a long time to order so I'm not a happy camper. I would have been happy with it, but I can't use it. I bought it last July so it hasn't been a year yet. I think it's a discontinued model that's why it's giving me the trouble.

I had my Viking range delivered a month ago. However, I've been disappointed. It was a new purchase and new installation. I have a double door 48-inch range and they weren't level. And then there was a crack with the interior of one of the ovens, and the main oven has stopped working when I was getting my range replaced. It doesn't heat up and I don't know if that is installation or bad switching. The small oven works fine, but the big oven does not work at all. I went on record with the company that I bought the appliance with just to say that I know it's getting swapped out but I haven't done anything to it. I had used it twice.

Also, I've been forever delayed on getting a griddle cover. I have to think it's coming soon but it's been on perpetual back order with Viking and right now it looks like a margarined, ugly griddle. I just wanna get the cover. I wanna like it. I want it replaced. I don't wanna have to call anybody on it again and hopefully we'll never speak again. I hope it's not an indicator of any sort of change that's happened to Viking because I did have a range in a previous home and I loved it so much. I had not a single problem with it and I wanted to go back to it again.

Their people have been very responsive. There has been many cooks in the kitchen in my liking and I can't keep up with who's doing what, but I appreciate the calls. I wanna get the range replaced but the installation of the new one has been pushed back again which bugged me because that was another weekend of no real sizeable oven. Also, I have small children so it's a pain in the behind but I just wanna have it done and over with. I picked Viking over some of the other premium lines and I wanna stay with it but I wanna get it right this time.

Viking had been recommended by several people including our son and daughter-in-law who had one for a long time. The range we received over two years ago turned out to be just froth with a series of problems and we had various Viking repair out there. We received a factory replacement about two months ago and there's been one little igniter issue. But that was fixed and we're back on board again. If it wasn't for the repairmen who knew our problem, we still wouldn't have one. We would have thrown it away. It was terrible. We just plainly could not continue with a device that was so unpredictable.

The oven knobs got incredibly hot and the fan was really noisy. And it repeatedly would shut itself off. I would never buy a Viking stove again. And the one we have now is working much better. It shut itself off, but it was the igniter and the repairman fixed it. But the knobs don't get hot and the fan is extremely quiet. And that's so much nicer than we the one we had that was extremely noisy which almost shake the house.

Viking made some changes with their service and repair facility and model. They went to an outside supplier that made multiple visits but had no knowledge of Viking as far as training. But when we finally got to the Viking employee that takes care of the State of Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, he has been great. If it wasn't for him, we probably wouldn't have that stove anymore.

We went through a lot and there was not a lot of support from Viking. I started keeping a log on Microsoft Word and it's now over eight pages. And of all the various different calls, their replies, the kept emails that are incredible. But anyway, it's just been a long journey. You got more than what you want to know.

I went on Facebook at one time on their website to say how much trouble I had had and they replied with, "Oh, we'll call your Viking such and such. We don't want this to happen." But it didn't do any good.

Viking has a long history, good quality, and beauty, so we decided to get a range, and it is superb and beautiful. My wife is in love with it, so’ I’m very jealous of it. We like how it cooks. It’s so even, and it doesn’t need much gas on it. So, it’s a very nice cooking experience. I’m very satisfied with the range. However, I would like to add a thermometer in the oven because we don’t know what the temperature is. We had an electric oven before, and we set it up to a certain temperature and that will do it. However, it is a different experience with gas. So, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't put a thermometer on it. Other than that, the range is very good. And their representatives were wonderful and supportive.

I knew of Viking 30 years ago. I live near the North Shore which is a pretty area and Viking was all they had in their houses. That's what they got and that’s what I wanted. It was either Viking or Wolf stoves we were looking at. Wolf only had built-in refrigerators but when we designed our kitchen, we didn't do a built-in area for the refrigerators. Viking had the range, the microwave, and the refrigerator so we went with them. We used Grand Appliances in Libertyville and they were phenomenal. I was a pretty savvy consumer so I went about and did my research before I went in. We had a saleswoman who was fantastic too.

We like the Viking range. It works and I like the blue light. The only thing we don't like about it is it doesn't have a timer on there, like a digital display. It has the knob on it that tells the temperature, though. When I'm cooking something in the oven, I have to set the timer. Other than that, every appliance in our kitchen is all Viking. We bought a Viking microwave, so we set the timer on that. Our dishwasher is Viking too. When we had one little problem with our refrigerator, they came out to fix it. Now, it's making a knocking noise but hopefully, it will go away before we call back. Overall, I'd recommend Viking.

Despite reporting problem when unit was new, Viking refuses to offer repair under warranty. Customer service agent and supervisor both declined help and said I had no other recourse. Defective product, poor advice from corporate support initially, no ownership of problem from company despite Viking presenting itself as high-end company with quality products and service. Quality is lousy. Customer service and relations are lousy. Value is horrible.

We wanted a commercial range. We looked at Thermador's but we liked the way Viking Range looked and the price was okay. Viking had a tough track record but we understand they were bought out by another corporation and they supposedly turned things around. The team at the dealer wasn’t great when we went to buy the range. They handle a lot of different lines. They were very nice but not extremely knowledgeable. I would think anybody who represents the commercial people like that would be very well trained. They provided all the information I needed as I asked it, but most of the time, they had to look it up. I think this particular dealer was more into GE, LG and the lower-end or middle-end stuff. They weren't impressive by any means. Also, once you pay for them, you would almost think that when they install them, they would run through a tutorial. But the delivery was okay.

We like it a lot and have cooked and maked tea on it. Yesterday, we just baked with it and it was making a few popping noises. We're not accustomed to a gas oven and hopefully, it's a learning curve but I'm assuming that was some of the stuff burning off because it's new. That's a question I have for the technician who's coming to look at the knobs in the front that are rubbing when I turn them and the front kick plate on the bottom that is crooked. But we like that we're being able to control the heat on the burners and its appearance as well. It looks very commercial, industrial and it’s well designed. Right now, we’re satisfied.

We heard that Viking Ranges was one of the best but my wife and I don't feel that way anymore, and we'll never buy a Viking again. It was a terrible experience. We bought our range and had it over five years. Something happened to the temperature button so that we could only cook at 350 or above. They came in to fix that button and it was gonna be $1,000 to fix it.

When they went to fix the button, they moved the stove and they said that on the bottom there's electronic wires that shorted out the oven when they moved it. The service people said it was a defect on the way they made them and now they make them with some type of insulator that protects the wires from shorting out. But that's not available to our range so we had to purchase another one, and we wound up getting a newer model that has that. But we had spent over $2,000 on the newer model that doesn't have a gauge that people can see the temperature on. We have to put something inside of it to see the temperature. There was also no clock on it. And It was more expensive than ours. It's ridiculous.

I could buy something for a quarter of the price that I would be more happy with because we've used Wolf before as a higher-end unit in a lot of our rentals. We've used much less expensive stuff which we've had for 20 years and we didn't have these kinds of problems. Viking is just a name brand and they probably shop out all their service and have no parts after five years on a unit people purchased. It's unbelievable. I don't know how they got their name but I'm sure not from what we've experienced. It's just an oven and it doesn't do anything special. It cooks like everything else is supposed to. Name brands impress people. We could have bought a new oven from somebody else with the money we spent to fix our situation.

I have a large family, I cook a lot and I needed something strong and durable. I got the Viking stove and it's very powerful. However, I have a problem inserting the racks. I make a cake, slide the racks out and the racks stick and go off the track. They don't slide in and out comfortably. And then, I have a vent above the stove and I have glass in the back of the stove instead of stainless steel. My husband pushed the stove too close to the glass so the first time I used the oven, the glass exploded.

Also, it's very busy to keep the top clean because it doesn’t have sealed burners. It has grates that I have to take in and out and steel wool in between every little crevice there on the top. I have adult sons that are slobs when it comes to cleaning so it’s an extra effort for me to keep this range clean on the top. I would have looked at something different and paid $1,000 extra and gotten a sealed burner. But I got what I got and I use S.O.S Steel Wool to keep the top clean every day. Otherwise, the stove is terrific and I like it.

I've had my first Viking Range for a year and a half. But it didn’t work properly so it had to be replaced. In fact, I had someone out five times try to repair it with no success. This started in November and it continued until the end of January until they replaced the range. After we got the replacement range, January 31st, it worked fine up until this past weekend and now, it's not working. So, I'm waiting for someone to come out again to fix it.

But their customer service is terrible. When I first called back in November for my Viking Range, they said, "Okay. We're going to hook you up with a service provider." Then they called me back and said, "Oh, there's no service provider in your area that service." So I had to wait but no one ever got back to me saying that they found one. Then right before Thanksgiving, I got a phone call at 8:00 at night and it was a service provider who was running late at a job, but they're coming over to look at my oven. I didn't even know anyone was coming but after the tech came, he said he was going to order the part. So, it should be in after Thanksgiving. I waited.

On the following Monday, I called the service provider to see if the parts have come in. I didn't get a call back so I called again. Finally, they called me back after an hour. The tech said he didn't have my stuff because he wasn't in the office. So, he would call me back the next day. But no one called me back. This went on for about a week. And then finally they said, "We're going to schedule service." They did schedule a certain day, but nobody showed up. I called again several times and finally, they said, "All right. We can do it we think on Friday. This is a Friday." I'm like, "No. You think or you can?" "Oh, no. We're going to do it on Friday. We'll call you in the morning and let you know exactly what time that they'll be there." Well, they never called me in the morning. So, by noon, I called Viking. The lady said, she was going to try to figure it out. "Call me back."

Well, I never heard from Viking, but I heard back from the service provider that they were going to send someone. When the person came, he was at my house for five hours and he was asking my 16-year old son to help him move the oven because he couldn't do it by himself. He took the whole oven apart and he said, after he had it all apart, "Oh, they gave me the wrong part." So, he put the whole oven back together and obviously it didn't work. And he's telling me that he's not a licensed person. He was a student doing the boss of the company a favor. So I freaked out. I didn't want them back at my house so I called Viking again on a Monday. They assured me they were going to look into it, but I never heard back from them.

Then finally, the company came. He said, "All right. Listen, we ordered the right part. Can you please let us do the same process? Please let our company come back. We'll fix it. We have the right part. We know where the part is located." At this point, I just want this fixed so, I'm like, "Fine. Come." He comes again. And after they supposedly fixed the part, it still didn't work. So, the guy left. I called Viking again, asking for a manager, someone to call me back. But no one ever called me back. I would keep getting new people and they would say, "Oh, we're going to add you to our list of people. Here's my contact number." But no one ever followed-up with me.

And then in mid-December, they sent out a new service provider who looked into what's wrong with it. They then ordered the part and came back. They fixed it and the oven would stay hot, but the broiler still didn't work. It would turn on for 50 seconds and then shut off and never come back on. So I called back Viking to tell them it's not working. They said they have to wait for the report from Mr. Appliance. So I called Mr. Appliance to tell them to send the report. They said they did and the lady said, "You need a replacement range. But they don't want to replace it because it's very expensive."

So, finally after numerous attempts through Viking, I called one more time because the next time, I was going to call an attorney because this is insane. It's over six weeks that it hasn't been working since I initially made my first phone call and they've sent people out four different times from two different companies. So, finally I got in touch with the lady who said that she's going to help me. She said that I was going to be getting a replacement. It finally came through at the end of January because they still had to order it. It was installed January 31st, but over Easter it, breaks again. An igniting problem. So the oven won't turn on at all. I have people over and I'm not able to cook because the oven is not working. There are only so many things you can cook on top of the stove. So I called Viking.

So since I bought my range, every holiday it does not work. I called every day from Monday to Wednesday and each day, nobody calls back. And this time, I'm beyond frustrated. If this was a $300 range, I would have thrown it out already and bought another one. I'm on the phone with this lady rep and I'm desperately telling her, "I already know exactly what you're going to say. You're going to give me your direct number and it's going to the escalation team. Someone will definitely call me back." I told her, "Nobody calls me back, that's the thing. They don't call me. They don't email me. Nothing. Not we're working on it. Just like dead. Nothing."

She promised me that she would be different and so far she has. I told her that the regional manager never called me back. I've asked, speak to him numerous t imes, "No one ever called me back." So, she said, "Hold on. I'm going to call the escalation team or whoever sends out servicers." And I don't know what they told her because when she got back on the phone she said, "I didn't like the answer they told me. So, I'm going to take this to my supervisor, I promise I'll call you back." She did email me and her supervisor called me twice and they did have a service provider call me. And over the phone they tried to figure out what the problem is. Telling me to try to do different things. And they ordered the part that they think is the problem with this range. And now, I'm waiting for it to come in. But still, no working range.

These people except for the most recent lady that I spoke to, have no compassion, no understanding. I didn't buy a used one. And when you spent that money, you expect a higher quality of merchandise. I'm a reasonable person, and I understand sometimes, things have flukes. But I cannot get over the horrendous customer service. So far the lady has lived up to what she said she's going to do. She responds to my email which is a plus because no one else ever did that.

But at this point, would I ever buy a Viking again? Absolutely freaking not. And I wouldn't even want one for free. Because if something goes wrong with it, you cannot even get through to try to get it taken care of. That is the most aggravating part besides from it not working. I don't expect to snap my fingers and the service provider would be in my house. But with this range, even when I had the problems with the first one, I had to demand and get irate that I wanted a new one.

After the second service provider came and it still didn't work, at that point they should have been like, "You've already been without an oven for six weeks now during the holidays. You've missed Christmas, Thanksgiving and you're going to miss New Year's at this point too. So, you know what? We are just going to send you a replacement." It was still another month after Christmas that I got my replacement. And I originally called Viking to complain about the issue, November 15th. So, from before November all the way until the end of January, no oven.

It broke on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. And then Viking replaced the oven back in January but there’s still different issues that keep coming up. I had the bake module replaced, but that did not solve the problem. I did manage to cook Easter dinner this year. At least when the oven shuts off I’m able to turn it back on. The other way, when it shuts off, there was no turning it on. So, I had to cook all my holiday dinners on the barbecue grill. So we’re back to square one. If this is a lemon, they might have to replace it again.

I had some not so pleasant experiences with Viking, but Sheryl has been very helpful and good. They just cant understand what’s going on. They want to send another repairman from a different appliance company to see if a different set of eyes can see something different. But to be honest, I’m not holding out any hope for that. I would not recommend a Viking Range. They’re expensive appliances. When you go online, people aren’t that happy with the range either.

My husband ordered a Viking range for me as a surprise birthday present. The service people that we paid to do the installation were horrible and didn't know anything about it, and so we ended up having to do it ourselves. The range is good and I like the easy clean. None of my stuff seeps down in the burners when what I cook overflows. However, the range should have more of the easy slide racks because the ones that aren't are too small for the oven. Also, when the oven is on and I would turn it to low, the flame on the two front ranges would go out. The two outer knobs would also turn with a resistance. So Viking is replacing the oven.

My husband is waiting for someone to call him back for our inconvenience. Since we're getting a new stove, we hope we can keep the easy glide rack as compensation for our difficulty because this oven is not cheap. I would recommend Viking with reservation. If they don’t take care of the issues I have right now and I have to keep calling, then I will get Better Business Bureau involved. I would really not like to because this is a very nice birthday present and I was very happy with it.

I went from cooking on electric to liquid propane, so it's a little different. It took me a bit of time to get used to the timing for the oven, but now that I do, I like it because it cooks so much quicker on the stovetop.

The oven is a little bit slower, but it seems to make the heat evenly dispersed, so it cooks much better salmon, chicken, and quiche. Any issue that I had, Viking resolved immediately. Prior to when I first built my house, I bought good appliances and I was hoping that this Viking would be even better and this would be the last range that I would have to purchase, being of the quality. But every time I bake, it rattles the vent or fan but they've tried taping it.

My husband and I are so disappointed. We made this decision together. I cook all the time and it doesn't even completely work. It caught on fire because they didn't connect it to the gas thing properly. It wasn't a plumber's fault. They didn't make the stove correctly so I am upset. It's documented through the repair person including the type of visits. I even had a plumber come and look at it separately from the repair person. Even the repair person said Viking is not very good at standing by their equipment once we get it. And that's from the person who's selling it in his store. Unfortunately, I'm all the way in Hawaii so I realize they don't want to pay shipping.

I had a KitchenAid prior to this and I didn't want an electronic motherboard. That was another big decision maker, 'cause it's very humid in Hawaii. In Vikng, the knobs are on the front so I felt it's a better investment 'cause in the long run the motherboards breakdown. Also, they've had to move the range in and out and it's gotten scratched, not because of anything I've done. The racks are now uneven inside of it because the repair guy has had to take them in and out so many times. My husband's tried fixing it himself but the only thing thing that works properly are the burners on the top and that's it. Everything else is wrong. I've had to call Viking when it first caught on fire. It's still under warranty but it is only good for so far. And in the first three months, this thing has had four repairs and that's not right. They should try to work with me and replace it. But there's been no contact and no accountability.

I have known Viking Ranges for a long time but I never used it. It's high-end, and if you have a Viking in the house, it's a good sales point to have. This time, I wanted the best of the best and for the purpose of investment so I bought one. However, the range is not the best as I expected but I'm 80% happy about it. It doesn't have timers and setting like all the electronic-oriented, high-tech ranges have these days. It's very simple. Basically, turn the knob on or off. I like it, but more than that, it will help me. I don't have a particularly good eye, and I cannot see if it's on or not, so I have to get used to it by feeling the knob. That's all to it for this range. If you need the fancy features, don't get this one because it doesn't have any. But it does the job right, very straightforward and no frills.

I originally purchased this at the local distributor on August 2016. It took three months to deliver through ocean freight because we live in Hawaii. On the day they delivered, the two delivery guys came and unloaded it from the truck. We live two levels up so they had to walk up the stairs. They start to complain about how far up it goes. It is a heavy unit at 400 pounds, so I understood. But at the same time, they said, "Oh, there are two dents, one on the front, one on the side." I decided to take it because I thought it could be replaceable parts. But halfway through, two out of the six knobs came off. So, I refused the delivery.

The store handled it okay. They gave me the refund which took a while then they're going to replace the same item order. I made sure this time that the delivery guys did a good job, and they did. The range had no damage cosmetically and the knobs were intact. It's all in good shape. But that's not the end of the story. It finally arrived in the kitchen. But the delivery guys are trucking company people. So, I didn't request for the installation. The power cord needed to be hooked up to the unit because it's electric, which I can do. I had the manual, and I was going to follow that. So, I started to open the back-side door to install the cable, but I noticed that it's not the same as the picture in the manual. I called Viking and they sent one of the local repair companies to check it. It was the manufacturer's mistake to mount the parts completely the wrong way.

The repairman was professional, so he dismantled the whole power cable inside the unit, which I have no way to do. They fixed it and Viking was good about it. I didn't have to pay for that. But there's one other problem. The range is square and there are four legs. But the product they delivered had only three. They sent me the leg but on a different day. I'm not that young anymore and I cannot move a 400-pound range by myself, lift it up and then install the legs. It's very dangerous and it's not easy. So, I called Viking again and they understood the situation. They asked me to contact the same people who installed the cable but they said they will not come to install one leg. I said, "The job was not completed." But they never got back to me--very rude voice and he sounded crazy. I'm a customer. Why do I have to be accused like that?

So, I called back Viking. I wanted somebody else to get sent over. I know it's small job but it's impossible to install it, and I was ready to pay for it. A very nice guy came over and did a five-minute work. He knew what to do. He installed it and I didn't have to pay for it. The range is working and doesn't have a problem. Viking is a great name and has good quality but getting it in the kitchen was just terrible. I understand Viking made a mistake and they handled this situation generously. But the experience of the whole purchase was a disaster. If I have a choice again, I'm not going to buy Viking again ever. This is the last.

We wanted an induction stove, I saw a Viking range in one of the stores I was browsing and I noticed it had a special broiler on it. We know about Viking since it's a good range. So that's what brought us to our selection. I missed some appliance that's why I bought the stove at a Viking dealer and their team was excellent. I like the quality of my Viking range, it's great and my favorite feature would be the broiler. However, I had to adjust my cooking method because I'm used to baking chicken at a high temperature and then the chicken would splatter up in the top of the broiler. And then I turned the oven on again and the broiler would smoke the house out. But, I have that under control now.

Dealt with the Viking dealer post-purchase because I had to have the whole Viking Range replaced. It seemed like a big project but it wasn't. It was very well done.

We have had Viking Ranges since they pretty much came out. We are on our third Viking Range. When we remodeled our house, my husband wanted to get me something high quality because I’m a baker and I cook a lot. So we’ve researched and that's what came up. I like the way the Viking Range looks. We also renovate houses since the 80's and we always put a Viking Range in there. We flip higher end houses and people wanted Viking look or Wolf. We bought one Wolf and I hated the Wolf. I was like, "Forget it. I don’t have to buy another Wolf." We've bought plenty of Viking Ranges.

The first one I had was a gas range and I loved it. And then we traded that for a dual fuel electric oven which I hated. The oven was much smaller and I couldn't fit all my baking pans. I couldn't even fit a turkey in it. I was really disappointed in that. It also started arching, spitting and shooting flames out the vent and the top. We'd called Viking to find out if there was any root cause. And they said not that they are aware of. So we ended up going through our insurance company in getting a new one. I got the Dual Fuel Viking Range. It's the four-burner. They did change the oven so it's much bigger. I've baked four cakes already with it and it's only been a month. I wish they would have had one on the floor so I could have looked at it. But most people aren't caring them because they're so expensive.

The people that I talked to at Viking have been very nice. But I wish we could have gotten more information about the other one that had started the fire. They didn't seem very interested and we still have that oven. They weren't also going to take the oven so we figured we just hang on to it and see. We're thinking of making an outside kitchen and just tearing the oven apart and turning it into an outside stove. They also have people who came to hook a Viking Range up but hooked up the electric cord wrong. So then we didn't have an oven for a week 'cause it wouldn't work. Somebody came to fix it. They replaced the cord and took it right one on and that works great.

I have an electric oven from Viking Ranges and it works okay. They had somebody who was very good at installing it. The only thing is we have a little problem with taking one of the racks out in the oven. We have no problem with the others and we can pull them out all the way. We have a problem with holding one of them and we thought maybe we're doing something wrong. If I can't figure it out, I'm going to call somebody to look at it because I have insurance on it.

But other than that, I like it. I like that I can go off to the other side on the top and that I could move from one area to another easily. I like that it's apple red because I don't like the stainless steel which is so hard to clean. I also like the way the knobs are covered from the top and its size. I like everything about it. My friend also has a Viking and she only has broil and regular bake on it. I like the simpler one but mine has all these other options that I'm working on how to figure it out. I recommend it and I already had to a friend because of my experience in New Hampshire.

A friend of mine in North Carolina had a small Viking in her kitchen and I liked the way that Viking Ranges look and I wanted something that was a step above what's in a regular big-box store. However, it rattles so I had Midwest Appliance Repair come out for it. It was still under warranty so they had the fan fixed but I never called them back for them to fix it again, so now it's out of warranty and having to put a new fan in there would cost around $300. Also, it wasn't cooking evenly on the front right burner. So when Midwest was out here, they told me that there were two missing silicon bumpers that were supposed to be on the grates to hold it way up from the flames to the proper height. I asked them to order me a whole set for all three grates so I can replace them if I lose one, but the guy called me back and told me that it was $28 a piece so I will just go down and find something else at Lowe's that will do the trick.

The parts are pricey especially given how much the cost of the range was. Other than that, my friends call it diamond mill because it's fancy and I'm happy with it. I love the quality in terms of the weight of the piece and the way it cooks that food. I also love that roll-out rack on ball bearings and the freezer doesn't dry things out and there's never a freezer burn. Overall, it's the kind of stove that if I ever move, it will go with me.

However, our Viking stopped functioning shortly after we bought it. The oven didn't switch and although we kept on trying to get it to spark, it would not ignite. Viking sent someone from the service provider to come and take a look. There were some wiring problems. Someone came up, opened up the "computer" of the range, rewired on site and fixed the ignition problem. That was taken care of quickly. Since it was fixed, I've had no problems. I've had it for about three months now and it's been an acceptable experience.

But I've not had a convection option before, so I didn't know that what I had wasn’t how it should be. And because it was way too hot, I called to have it calibrated, and the man who came out was outstanding. He tested the temperature, turned on the convection and said, "That shouldn't sound like that." So he took it off and ordered the part. But the first time they ordered it, the wrong part came in. They called me that day and told me that he had checked it and it wasn't the right part, then they ordered the new one and they were wonderful. After it was fixed, I baked a cake and I loved it.

We also bought another non-Viking appliance from Specialty Appliance in Colorado, where we bought our Viking range, and that had trouble, too. First we tried to have it fixed ourselves, and then I remembered that the salesman of Specialty Appliance had said, "If anything is wrong, call us." So, I called them and they jumped all over getting somebody here and getting it fixed. And as for my range I love how it looks and how easy it is to take the grids off the top and clean it. I also love the gas cooktop with the electric oven. I'm very happy with Viking.

Although this cooktop is very good-looking the positives stop there. It's great if you don't actually cook. We purchased the 4-burner induction as we had had a good experience with a lesser-priced brand so thought this would be even better based on the very high price. The two major problems are: 1. You cannot run the two right or the two left burners on high at the same time. 2. The temperature control dial runs from simmer to high but really if I put it below medium I may as well just turn it off. Medium is basically "simmer".

I contacted the vendor and they sent out the regional sales person. He was very nice and politely told me it was very sensitive, I wasn't used to it and I should live with it for a while. I did that but I was never satisfied. I called him again and sent him videos showing how the problems continued. He did finally get back with me but the answer was that "yes" I was indeed correct. He had checked with the engineers and you couldn't have the two left or right burners on high at the same time (nothing in any literature about this) and that he too tried out the temperature settings and had the same results that I did. Sadly, he said there was nothing to be done to help either situation. So, I have an expensive, good-looking cooktop that's great if I only need to use two burners and dials that have a medium, medium-high and high setting. I should have stuck with the lesser expensive brand I had previously.

I had heard about the Viking range at the culinary school, and I got one because I really liked its performance. I've had my Viking range since November and it's really good. I like the open burner and that it has the two ovens, and I love to work with the griddle. But it was actually pretty rough with the team at the Viking dealer where I purchased it. I bought it from the website and they dropped it off, but they didn't install it, and it was here lying in my kitchen without the feet for a few weeks. I was going back and forth with them on the phone, asking them to come and install it because it's a heavy range and I couldn't install it myself or with my husband. I remember that I was preparing this huge dinner for Thanksgiving with my family and we just ended up going to my in-laws' house.

Finally, they installed my range in the first week of December, almost four weeks after it was delivered. Despite that bad experience with the delivery, however, I will surely recommend Viking. The experience I had with my Viking range was amazing. Everybody said they're very impressed with my range, and I love it. I love to cook and bake in it.

I have a thing for color and I have a lot of red in my house. I couldn’t decide if I wanted a range in cobalt blue or red. So I was searching the internet and I saw the deal that Viking was offering a free dishwasher if I bought the oven. It took me a while to decide on it if I was gonna buy from a dealer in New York and I wouldn’t have had to pay tax. But I wasn’t comfortable with that so I bought it from a dealer in Miami, which is where I live. I bought it in red and that’s cost me considerably more. They gave me the dishwasher but I bought the red panel which I had to pay for and I bought a Viking convection microwave which is not in color. It’s stainless.

The first time I used the oven, I was really uncertain as to how quickly it cooks. So I called Viking and spoke to one of the representatives who happened to be a chef and I told her I was making lamb chops and she told me what to do. Now I have a little bit of difficulty in removing the shelves and lowering them ‘cause the pull-out shelves are in an obviously different way than regular ovens. I cooked the lamb chops a little too long so while they still came out great, I overdid them so I have to be a little careful in learning exactly how long I can put something in the oven or the broiler. And I’ve never cooked with infrared and it is fast.

The range, when it turns on, it’s so fast and it boils water so quickly. The only problem I did have initially was that the broiler can that came with it was a piece of junk. It looks like it came from a $500 oven. I read the user’s instructions and it said, “Use no chemicals at all." I bought special cloth in Sweden to clean it. But the pan, the first time I used it, the surface started to come off.

So they sent me a new one and the new one looks exactly like the oven rack which is what should have come with it in the first place. And it’s wonderful. However, I found this tiny little beige mark, like a perfectly cylindrical little round mark no bigger than the zero on the keyboard and I didn’t know what it was so they sent a Viking representative out and he found two of them on each side and they said they’re supposed to be there. So other than that, I don’t have any complaints. I love the Viking Range. I didn’t want to pay the extra money but I bought the sealed range set because that’s what I was used to and it was considerably more to buy it that way but it’s easy to clean. If you bought the open range, things can go underneath. And I’m not the neatest cook in the world.

So all together, it cost me about $5,600. I love the dishwasher, too. It has a light in it and when it’s on, it’s so quiet you can’t hear it and the light shines red on my floor. The only thing is it’s a little smaller than I’m used to but it’s still very nice. And the microwave, it’s microwave and convection. So you can cook in it. But I have to learn how to do that because convection cooks very fast. But I love the way it looks. Also, anybody that I have had to deal with at Viking has been very polite, pleasant and always got back to me and got me that wonderful correct broiler pan right away. I don’t always use everything I buy but I like to buy and I like high-end stuff. And this is one of the few things I’ve never had a complaint about except the broiler pan which was the wrong one. So Viking is super wonderful.

He said the center grill wasn't properly supported so over time it sagged with heat or pressure. I complained to Viking because this was a defect they knew about. First excuse: they said they couldn't help because my unit wasn't properly registered even though the matching fridge was. I provided proof of purchase (original receipt) so they registered my unit. Second excuse: there was no kit ever produced perhaps because so few people complained. I said a manufacturing defect is a defect. They should fix it even if only one complained. We made a big city-to-city move and bought a new home in another city. A key feature of which was a custom high-end kitchen renovation of which these Viking appliances are a core feature and part of the financial value of the decision to purchase this home. We've never had high-end appliances in our past because we couldn't afford them nor did we really think we needed them.

The appliances were professionally installed as part of a kitchen renovation by the previous owners, purchased new, and they were less than four years old when we moved in. It's a Viking Professional, 48-inch wide range which is one of very few of that width, and a very high Viking Professional refrigerator. We moved in mid-2015 and we're approaching two years in the home. I've had six service calls and multiple, very expensive parts replacements in the Viking gas range and the oven has not worked since we moved in. Initially, it turned on but the front panel was overheating excessively to the point where you had to put oven mitts on to turn the knobs. It was that hot. Also, when we first moved in, we had trouble with the refrigerator initially and I hadn't really noticed because we were busy moving in and doing a lot of take-out. I also didn't notice the problem with the oven until a month or so in.

Now that I'm looking back on it, what happened is our local service partner - who is a Viking certified partner and is one of the top family-owned appliances repair companies in the entire city with a very good reputation - has told me repeatedly that there is no telephone number which their service partners can call. They have to email as the only way to communicate with the parts department but I'm assuming that with Viking as a provider or manufacturer, they had a parts plant here in Canada.

First the service guy said there are problems like the door wasn't fitting perfectly flushed and he thought because of the clients who had problems with the door hinges that if we replace those it might seal the unit better and therefore address the overheating issue because he wasn't getting any error codes at that time when he did a scan of the electronics inside the oven. He decided to do that and he also ordered a griddle and the main knob, which I knew was gonna be an expensive part. I figured it would be about $600, plus labor and it was. It had been chipped and sheared off by the previous owner when they installed the kitchen. They sheared it off with a piece of granite for the counter when they were doing the renovation so, I knew that was gonna be expensive, but that has nothing to do with the ongoing issue.

We replaced the hinges and another small component. Those parts took six months to arrive. Every month, I was calling the local service partner and after the second or third month, because I didn't wanna push, I thought maybe they're back ordered. It turned out that Viking's parts plant in Canada and the whole manufacturing facility plus customer service had moved to the United States across the border at the same time that our parts order went in. Not only that but by the time they identified that Viking had actually lost the order six months later, they claimed they never received it. The customer service call center had moved to a second US location like within a year's time so, there were multiple communication operational issues on the Viking end.

By the third time, I asked them to call Viking parts and escalate this because I've been with no oven for two months and the first $1,000 repair didn't do anything. The lady insisted that there was no way to do that. They don't have a phone number like the technicians and if they're on site and they need to talk to a Viking technical support personnel, they have a phone number they can call. But between the service partners and the parts department, it's only by email. We waited six months and we identified the issue four months later.

They sent another email and Viking finally replied and said they don't have any orders for those two parts. They replaced the order for both parts in month four and it's like they should have those parts within a couple of weeks. But two weeks later, I hadn't heard from the local partner. So, I called them and learned that the second part is on back order and it won't be ready for six weeks. When those parts finally came, the technician was very good, knowledgeable and he has a lot of experience, which is rare out there with Viking. He replaced the parts, tested it and it seemed to be okay.

The very next day, I was all excited so I bought a roast. Within about an hour to an hour and 15, I noticed the oven had shut off automatically and would not restart. At the same time, when the panel would overheat if you tried to use the top of the range to make potatoes and vegetable or if the oven had shut off and was overheated, the gas range atop would not ignite like a safety shut off feature so, I couldn't make a meal. Then, he came and replaced another major component and not only did it shut off but it started to not even ignite in the first place. You wouldn't hear the click before the gas engages and it would not start at all. So, I called the local service partner back and he said that they had built a cooling fan which wasn't part of the original design. But it seemed to resolve the overheating and the spark module most of the time in the repair environment. Sometimes, they cover it for some customers if they complained enough.

So, I spent two weeks going back and forth with a very nice customer care warranty person because it's out of warranty four or five years later, but it's a newer appliance. These things are like $15,000 and that's like a car. Given how young it was when we bought it as part of the home and the cost of the thing, I won't do it. Even if I was a gazillionaire, just on principle, I won't do it nor can we afford to and nothing else will fit in that space either because it's a custom kitchen designed around these appliances. I think there are only three 48-inch wide ranges that would fit into that space, gas ranges that are even available from any manufacturer.

Finally, I had to fight because the previous owner hadn't registered it. She said she can't do anything for me because they don't recognize a registration for warranty purposes of the original purchase. I went to the package with all the receipts the previous owner left with us for all the renos and purchases and found the bills from where they purchased. I was on hold with the warranty department for more than 45 minutes and I work full time, after all of this for a year and a half. I called her back and I asked if there is a fast track that she could help me out with because I was on hold for 45 minutes and I had called before calling her. I called back a second to the number she gave to me in case I got disconnected and waited another half an hour and I was just getting frustrated. I figured out for myself on their website that I could do it online because I had the receipt and the serial number and the date and all the information required.

So, I did it online myself and then called the customer service person back and told her that it was done. She said that now that it's registered, she's going to ask their regional service manager for Canada who works with Canadian providers if they will, as an exception given what I've been through, still cover the cooling unit to go with the spark module. I don't know how much the cooling thing would be but it's probably another $500. We've spent about $4,000 or $5,000 on these appliances in 17 months and they're less than five years old. That's parts and labor and the labor is like nothing compared to the cost of the parts. So, she said she's gonna ask for an exception under the circumstances.

I waited and it was 10 days or two weeks later that I got a voicemail message from her letting me know that their service manager has declined to cover it back for me. I'm usually a fairly reasonable, calm person, but I was like going up straight. I got really angry and I called her back and as calmly and politely as I could, I told her I don't think she's being reasonable. Not her personally but the process and the disconnected communication. I would like for their regional sales manager to please talk to my local technician from their service partner directly so they can understand the history. Then, he might make a more favorable decision. Eventually, the technician had to send a big detailed ticket of the most recent part replacement that he did, his idea of the diagnostics and circumstances and what his recommendation was. They talked on the phone together and it was approved right away.

My impression right now of Viking as a manufacturer and the post-sale service is not positive. I've worked in the network telecom business most of my career. Customer market facing and I know a lot about manufacturing, about different types of business operations and customer service but I've never seen something this bad in my entire life. Until I see it given, what I've experienced so far, I have no confidence that this repair part replacement will address the issue. I'd really like them to ship me a brand new replacement oven, in working order, and install it for me cause at this point, I think we have a lemon. I feel it's a defective unit and it should probably be replaced.

I don't want what happened to us to happen to other people. I had seen the negative reviews because of the problems that we were having from the beginning and if we had known this, we might not have even purchased this house. I would recommend pretty much any other brand. That's a lesson I've learned from this manufacturer.

Thank you for your review. Viking has several ways for servicers and customer's both to contact us. We do us email in the parts department for servicers who prefer to email their orders in instead of calling them in on the phone. But we do have a dedicated parts department that both consumers and servicers can call into Monday thru Friday 8-6 EST for assistance and a dedicated tech line for servicers to call into if they need assistance with repairs. We see that your servicer is now working with his Viking Regional Service Manager for your area to assist with getting your issues resolved.

Luckily we realized before it started a fire. They keep promising to ship the part but never do. The service company says this is typical for them, especially since they got bought by Middleby in 2013. Avoid at all cost! Deadly product & awful service.

We were pleased with the Viking oven and microwave in our other house so we wanted a stove with a black face on it when we build our new house. We’ve only been using it for about a month and a half but we have no issues, we are delighted and it worked out well. Being able to cook with gas is nice. You can control the heat and with the grill on the top with six burners, you can cook a lot. One burner also has a higher BTU on it which is nice.

We bought it from Ferguson in the town we lived in. The Viking dealer has a good reputation and known for its bath and kitchen showroom. We didn't hesitate to go to them when we wanted to pick out the appliances. It was a good experience, delivery was on time and they did exactly what they said they were going to do. Registering on the website was easy. We looked at the serial and model number which I got off the stove and the instruction booklet.

We purchased a Series 3, 30", gas, self-cleaning range. I installed it about 3 months ago. The first thing I noticed was that the way it was attached to the pallet, caused the unit to slide forward on the pallet. The plant installed an oak rail in the top center of the pallet. The front end of this rail dented the stainless steel front skirt. It's not a bad bend but you will notice that it is no longer straight. Recently after cooking many dinners on it, you can't get a really low flame for simmering on any burner. I never had this problem with my low-end GE.

I also have noticed that on occasion the back small burner will not light, and must be tried several times. The most disturbing issue is when any top burner is on, low or medium, and you open the oven door, the flame on the burner want to go out, or does go out then re-lights itself. Not good! Also after cooking on the top stove area, any drops of water that might splash out of a pot, cannot be allowed to dry, next to a hot burner, or a permanent awful looking mark will mar the cooktop. It is not removable. All of these problems should not be attached to a $5000 range.

We're contractors who do high-end kitchen and bathroom remodeling and we used Viking on projects. We were going to get a Thermador for the price difference, but the Viking rep thought it would be beneficial to their company to give us a heck of a deal on their product to put the Viking in. In the end, it came in the same price as the Thermador. Plus the Viking dealer was perfect and the rep was super, so we went with them.

But there were a couple of drawbacks. Viking used these drill bit screws that stripped if you tighten them too much. So the door has a couple of stripped screws and it rattles too, so I replaced them with larger sheet metal screws. So one of the people in the assembly line overtightened and it's stupid. It's nothing I can't fix, but for its value, I shouldn't have to.

Viking is made in Mississippi and it's very important to me it's made in the US. But I'm shocked that Viking uses a Broan motor. The motor in ours was brand new but it lasted only 10 minutes and I'm still waiting for the replacement. If I had known Viking had a Broan motor, I wouldn't have bought it. The quality of Viking over Thermador is really nice but Broan motors are garbage. Also, the only thing we've used is the burners, but we're still waiting for the guy to adjust them. My wife likes the little window in the range, though.

Viking looks beautiful and I know the issue with the parts is going to get taken care of but it's been a long time. I called the dealer and I asked where the parts were at. He told me it was kind of difficult. If I was Viking, I'd get the customer a new motor and ask him not to slam us. In our line of work, we deal with all these high end people and Thermador knocks the teeth out of Viking for sales.

In the later part of September 2016 we purchased a Viking Range model # VGIC 53014bss with high expectations only to find problem after problem with this range, as a matter of fact it's a laundry list of problems and too many to mention. I could write a book in less time, it's just not believable!!! My theory is and it's verifiable that some of the more important components (parts) they install are sourced from China, Mexico etc. They are not manufactured in the U.S. or Europe and this is where the PROBLEM lies. This might not be politically correct but it's a matter of fact, if you use inferior parts you should expect problems, and the words (made in the U.S.) becomes ambiguous, it should state assembled in the U.S. It's like buying a Cadillac only to find it has a Japanese motor. Buy cheap you get cheap

Now onto the Viking customer care reps, these poor people are subjected to more abuse from disgruntled customers and their complaints, it's as if they were part of the manufacturing process, I personally have had only good if not excellent experience with them! They can only do so much and have no options other than to say they're sorry when problems arise, the executives are solely to blame (Accountability). It seems they must be distant from the overall process i.e. quality control, part supply, etc, etc, in actuality they should be embarrassed. Why should any Viking customer have to wait weeks or even months for service due to a lack of part availability? This also reflects on the service people and their small company's service job becomes protracted and customers like myself get disgusted.

I've recently dissuaded two of my friends from making a Viking Range purchase and not for any reason other than reliability, I am not going to be embarrassed. I just say don't judge book by its cover (oh but it's beautiful). I agree but it does NOT live up to its name, it's so sad especially when you spend big $$$s and that's for low end of the Viking range line. In summary and again I will not recommend Viking, hence to be forewarned is to be forearmed!!!

    Original Review: March 14, 2017

I had a frustrating and disappointing experience with Viking Ranges. I chose it because of the style and cost but the range I received was horrible. The first time I used it, I turned on the burners and then I turned on the oven. Underneath the burner, it exploded into a flame so I got a fire extinguisher and put it out. I called Viking and they sent out a repairman. He looked at it and he said that the range was a total loss so they arranged to have it replaced. When they came out to replace it, they arranged the time with me.

The night before the agreed time, they called me on a robocall and told me a different time. So I called them back and I said, "I've already arranged to meet at the time we agreed." They called back and said, "No, we can't do that." They said that the only way I can arrange the time is to wait 'til 24 hours before they'll tell me when the time would be. That's hard to do if you're working so that was a hassle. So I said, "I don't know what to do because I can't meet that time you want 'cause I've already arranged with my work to be the other time, which we already agreed to, well, I already made the appointment." That was a week earlier and they said at that time it was fine to have the time that we arranged. So I did, then they said they didn't have another day when they could tell me when they could come back. They called me an hour later and said, "Okay, we can meet your original time." They came and replaced my range.

Viking’s customer service reps were fine but their service people were a hassle because of the scheduling. The actual service man who came out was fine. What happened was very dangerous. The repairman even said that if I turned on the oven first, let it go for a long time and then turn the burner on, there could have been an explosion. But I had the burner on first and then I turned the oven on so all it did was catch fire underneath the burner. My Viking Range works fine now. It's just that I got a really bad Viking Range in the beginning.

    Reviewed March 3, 2017

The Viking Range in our house has been in it longer than we have and we've been here for maybe four years but it's pretty good. I got it serviced last Friday to make sure all the parts are working in order and for the most part, everything is working fairly well. I like the griddle part of the range because it's fairly easy to use and clean. The whole range is easy to clean because everything pops off fairly easy. I'm not a neat freak but it's nice to be able to get all the food out of the crevices. Also, cooking on it is fairly easy.

But, I can't get the temperature low enough. The low feature is too hot and when I simmer, I can't seem to get close enough to it without igniting the pilot light again. For example, usually with rice, you put on a low simmer and the low setting is just still too hot for it. Also, I don't know if this would interfere with the flame but we have a gas stove and an overhead exhaust and it would be nice to have the exhaust where the oven outtake is. Because instead of having an exhaust over the food, it would just be more on the same plane as the food. It's also nice to not have the fan on because it's so loud when I'm cooking and I feel like I'm in a wind tunnel. But other than those, the functionality of the stove is quite useful.

The dual oven is also pretty nice but its cavity can't fit a turkey. You have the three-inch roasting pin, the elevation to that and then you have the bird which has a big breadth to it so I'm not able to put it in the oven. But, for the most part, it's pretty nice with the conduction and all those features. Then, we have an industrial professional grade, so it's raised off the floor a good three inches. You could use that to gain more cavity space. In addition, we have a little warming oven to the side and the width of that is too narrow but the height on it is perfect. I would like it a little bit wider for most dishes and sheet pans.

I think it's very reliable and very consistent. However, my husband said that if he had his wishes, he wouldn't buy a Viking range again, but he doesn't cook and he doesn't get into the kitchen at all. I think it's because it's such a big piece of equipment but the actual components of it are very small. Wolf is what he really liked and the dial controls are a lot more flexible based on what you're cooking and the cavity is much bigger. But I would say some positives with Viking is that the cooktop space of the range is very open. I have a lot of big pans but I'm able to put two big pans side-by-side without having problems. Also, I can put a small pan on top and not feel like it's being swallowed up by the burner.

I'm now on my second Viking since the one that was initially put into my home did not heat properly and it did not cook right since the day it was installed. So eventually, the door wouldn't close completely and that was under some recall type of thing. Viking ended up replacing the entire unit.

However, there is only one repair service here in Columbus that deals with Viking as far as I know. I keep being told that's because Viking is either charging too much money and/or won't supply the parts and I would love to see some more competition rather than just one repair service that I have to call and pay their prices to repair a Viking product. I have a lot of friends that have Viking, and we all have to use the same people to repair the products.

The burners are huge which was something we definitely wanted, and it's perfect for our kitchen as it fits in with everything else. Their reps were very helpful and knew the product well. We had it installed, and then, all of a sudden, there was a gas leak. But it wasn’t the stove. It was the plumber. Apparently, the back-left of the stove, the part that comes from the gas line that goes into the back, hadn’t been tightened and he put pipe dope on a compression fitting, which was stupid. Some of that got into the two back burners and they weren’t working, and we smelled gas every morning. So, we had their authorized tech come out and he was fabulous. He found it, cleaned out the ports, and all the burners worked beautifully. So far, it’s the best oven-stove combo we’ve ever had and we love it.

We had a built-in grill when we moved into the house about 40 years ago. We then replaced that and got a 24-inch Viking grill. When we decided to get a new stove, we wanted to match it up. Previously we had an electric stove. We checked other things like BlueStar, but we liked the looks and the style of Viking so we selected it. It's great and the heat of the range is so much even and it works so much better. The temperature control is really nice and I like the one pullout rack which is really convenient.

The product is also easy to clean. I lift up the racks on top of this each day and I can dust underneath there. You can take the ceramic tops or the steel tops off the burners as well. It’s really nice and so much better than electric. It also looks like a million bucks and will never go out of style. It always looks like a professional item and is classy looking too. It's the best there is. The installers did an excellent job and we had all the trim pieces. We inquired about getting a broiler from them but Viking doesn't make them anymore.

I’m going to have to have some Viking products when we move. I was in the Fire Department before I retired and all the fire stations had Viking grills and gas stoves. There were about 8-burner stoves and that’s where I first saw them. They always worked well. I am thankful for Viking's good products and am appreciative of them. I’d highly recommend Viking.

Our Viking Range was only 4 years old when a tiny part in the electronic panel broke in half. After searching for many hours for someone willing to come and fix it, we were told that most likely the whole electronic panel would have to be replaced. Not satisfied with this, we continued our research and found that this defect was very common, and that the $20 dollar part could be purchased and replaced quite easily. We found someone that ordered the part (he was the one that told us that this was quite common and that a recall should have been done on our model of range).

Since being fixed, the control knob has never worked very well and was quite finicky to turn the oven on. Now, after owning this range for only 5 years, the circuit board has shorted out. Rather than spend a dime on fixing this, I would rather just throw it out and buy a new and more simply made range. DO NOT waste your money on Viking products. They do not stand behind their appliances and it is nearly impossible to find someone that will waste their time fixing them. Go with something that can be easily fixed as I believe all appliances nowadays are designed to fail hours after their warranty has expired.

My oven worked beautifully until I decided to use the clean cycle. Afterwards, I lost the alarm on the timer. I also noticed that it was not keeping accurate temperature. Called repairman who came out and checked the control board and said it needed replacing. Replaced it today and, after repairman left, I tried to bake. The oven reaches the set temperature but then begins to cool down and never clicks back on to warm back up. I am so frustrated. Just to have a repairman step foot in my house is $95! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Updated on 03/07/2017: After replacing control board and thermostat, my oven still does not hold temperature. It will reach temperature setting initially but will decrease and never reach original set temp. After authorized Viking repairman replaced thermostat, he called Viking Help Line. They were not able to offer any help. We are now replacing internal temperature probe to see if that makes any difference at all. After we replace this part, there is nothing else to replace (other than the oven). I am so disappointed as I purchased this oven because it was made in the USA and was supposed to be top of the line. We have now invested way more money than we should have! Never, ever, ever use the cleaning cycle!

There are higher-end ones but I’m not one that’s gonna spend that kind of money, and even this is overkill. But this would be a better choice. Also, at the time that we bought it, there was a rebate on the range with the hood so that also persuaded us a bit.

Viking Range is difficult to get in touch with customer service and parts take WEEKS to get. And when they do arrive they don't always work. I have had my Viking range since 2006. In the beginning we had to have the ignitor switches replaced. I believe it was under warranty at the time. The smoke eliminator fell out of the larger oven but it is very difficult for the homeowner to replace as the heating element covers the area where the casing of the smoke eliminator and I do not feel comfortable removing the heating element. Another issue that we have had is the self-cleaning on the small oven stopped working. I have since figured the issue out that the door wasn't closing enough for the self-clean to work. I now need to push the door tightly closed until the self-cleaning function kicks in.

Now comes my biggest issue. On the morning of December 25, 2016, I cooked a breakfast casserole in the larger oven. Later in the morning I went to put the turkey in the larger oven to find that there was no heat. The fan continued to run but neither the broiler or bake element would work. I called one of the two "certified" Viking specialists in my area. They couldn't come out until December 29. Once they arrived they called Viking who told them that I needed a new circuit board. I had issues with getting in touch with the Viking recommended Mr. Appliance after I put down a 50% deposit and was forced to call another Viking recommended "certified" appliance repair company. The second company called Viking Range and ordered the parts that were needed for the repair.

It took 3 weeks to get the parts because they were in production. The parts finally came in and the repair guy came out to the house, put the part in... it didn't work. The circuit board was faulty. He then tried to move the small oven circuit board to the larger oven and it shorted because once he tried to put it back into the small oven it didn't work.

So now I sit here on February 20, 2017, almost TWO MONTHS LATER, with no oven at all (it was difficult only having access to an oven that only holds a 9x13" pan) and no stove top (one of the repair guys told us that we had to disconnect the gas in order to repair so we had to hire a plumber to come out to disconnect the gas for the low low price of $130. That was done on 1/3/17). I have since had to purchase a countertop burner because I am assuming these parts will take weeks to get. Every Appliance Repair company complains about how hard it is to get in touch with Viking Range. I am fed up with Viking Range and will never recommend their products to anyone, especially for the price.

UPDATED ON 04/07/2017: I continue to stand by my stance on NOT purchasing Viking products. It took close to $1700!!! (Over $1200 was for parts alone - several that weren't needed had Viking been able to figure out what was wrong with the oven) and close to THREE AND A HALF MONTHS TO FIX my range. First due to the fact that circuit boards are manufactured by different companies and thus are not made the same so they need to be rewired to adapt to your oven. Second, parts take a long time to get. 2-3 weeks was the average time it took to get my parts. Third, Viking has a problem figuring out what is wrong with their OWN product.

Our new house came with the upgraded package of Viking, but the range never worked. The stove wouldn’t light and we couldn’t keep it lit. It took us almost a year of repeated people coming out. We couldn’t get it right and it was because of multiple things. When they put it in, they got the wrong backing and it took three different people just to get that right. It was a huge relief when Viking replaced the stove for us. I like the stove, but when it's on the blower is so strong that I can’t put a low heat on my stove top. If I have the oven on, I can’t put low on the burners because the blower blows into the burners. The repair people that we had were polite and professional and I don't fault them in any way. It was one of them that helped me get the new range. But I'm disappointed and I will never buy a Viking again.

I purchased this Viking Electric Range 30" with Induction Cooktop in August 2014 as display model. I was told by the salesman that it had a full warranty. We also discussed with a Viking rep who was there setting up other models and he indicated the benefits of the range. In January the left burners quit working and there was a flash code for the burners. I called Viking to inquire about the warranty and found the unit was registered to another person who bought it 1 year earlier. I did not know it was pre-owned and would not have purchased it if it was. From the Viking customer service rep I learned it had a history of two repair calls including a replaced control board ($800.00 part cost). The code on the induction top indicated that it may be a generator board (there is one for each side) with a part cost of about $1200.00. They also indicated it was out of warranty.

I have talked to the store, Viking techs, independent service tech and there has been no resolution to my issue. The "code" has changed since the initial event. Since there seems to be a need for a second module, is this a problem with this model or is this one a lemon. Viking did have a 5 year limited warranty on the induction top and modules in the past this but no longer true. I would like a resolution to this issue.

To say that I have been extremely disappointed with my Viking oven is putting it mildly. This oven has broken three times since 2012. Two of those times was in the middle of cooking Thanksgiving Dinner. The problem with this oven is a computer chip panel that continually burns out when the oven becomes hot. I have had to replace this part twice. I question why Viking would engineer such a problematic oven and then offer a replacement part that is only under warranty for a year. I have contacted Viking customer service by phone and by letter and their only response is to tell me the part is no longer under warranty. I have replaced the Viking oven and I will never buy another Viking product. I am writing this to alert other consumers to be aware of this issue and the lack of customer service when considering purchasing a Viking range.

There was not a Viking dealer close to me in West Virginia. So I bought a Viking gas range in Maryland and I paid to have it shipped. I had it for a few months now, but the oven quit working. I had it repaired five times and every time it died, it was the same part. Finally after about a year and a half, Viking offered to give me another range and another warranty. I got the same model but a year newer. They had the rollers on it where mine didn't. I used it for six months but the oven quit working. It was repaired twice, but what they decided after the second time was that it needed what I call a torpedo fan that would come on when the oven got hot and blow on this little electronic part that kept dying. It was repaired once after they put the fan on and in June of last year it died again.

After about a year and a half, the store that was sending a repairman to me from Pennsylvania went out of business and all of a sudden I didn't have a repairman that could come. So Viking made arrangements with Bridgeville Appliance in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania to come and service. Each time that I had a service, I called up and then in two weeks the guy had come and sometimes he'd have to order a part. The guy came from 15 miles away and when he looked at the stove, he had no idea how to attack it. I don't know whether they paid the guy or not but it was under a warranty. When the second oven died last June I told them, I absolutely wanted my money back and they did not offer me that. I told them, "I do not want the same model." I've had two and neither ones worked.

They then emailed me and I talked to somebody in Mississippi. They finally put me over to somebody who offered me four models. I told them, I would be willing to pay a normal fee to upgrade but I wasn't going to pay the full price. I chose a gas top with electric oven and it was finally installed last December. So it's been six months without an oven. Right now, the oven is still working but I haven't used it a whole lot because I've kind of got away from using it. But It's been almost three years playing with this.

Viking honored their warranty but the first product I bought was not even self-cleaning. It was a basic stove and I don't think they had enough installation around the oven to protect that because that electronic part sat on top of the oven underneath the burners. And when they had to repair, they took the top off, different repairman did different things. After four or five repairs, you get a little disgusted. They kept telling me that I was the only one who had the part was dying. But that didn't make sense. There should have been a recall. When they put that little torpedo fan blowing on, I could hear the little fan go on.

When they brought this last oven, there was a $6,900 and some dollar price tag on it and I only paid about $4,000 for the first one. So, they really upgraded me. I've got really good service with the repair, except sometimes, getting someone here took a time. Each time the oven broke down, I had at least a month or six weeks without an oven. I was more without than I was with an oven. So I would not recommend this product.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased a full set of Viking appliances. They were installed in early November 2016. Shortly after install our wall oven started getting an F3 error (totally out of commission). We called Viking and waited more than a week for a response. Once I spoke with the repairman, he said, "I'm not sure why Viking provided you with my contact info. I don't support your area." We're on the Eastside of Seattle in between 7 large metropolitan areas. This happened two more times before we actually got connected with a repair company that supported Viking and our area. The repair company came out, and had to order two parts. The parts took more than 2 weeks to order so consequently we had no oven for the holidays. Two weeks after the parts were installed, the same issue (error code F3) happened again (completely out of commission).

Again, called Viking; no response. Called the repair company that helped previously (they are great, btw) and they came out and now ordered the same 2 parts and have to wait until 2/23 for them to be delivered (today is 2/14). I asked Viking about what happens next. They said, they are not sure why I'm upset with them... They have to go through this process for the warranty. After they reinstall these parts for a second time and if the error comes back, then they "may" consider extending our warranty. They "may" consider? What about replacing the oven for one that actually works? How long are we supposed to live without an oven. They don't care. Moral of the story; don't buy Viking. Not worth the money and they provide terrible customer service.

And the installation of the dishwasher was crazy. I've installed probably a couple of hundred dishwashers before but for that particular dishwasher, I had to do some modifications and stuff on it to get the water in. If I'm not mistaken, these dishwashers are made overseas.

But the only frustrating thing that we've really had with the appliances has been the microwave. The LED lights have gone out. And the same is for the dishwasher. So the repair person who came out ordered new panels for both. He said it may take up to a month to get the parts. But so far, we've been really happy with the oven for the price that we got it for. We remodeled our kitchen so I looked at a lot of ranges. When I looked for a 100% American made product, that took me to Viking. I liked the look of the Viking and I also heard good things about them from people I knew who had owned them. So I purchased the Viking Range and had it installed. After they finished everything up, we went to use it. The cooktop worked fine, but the oven did not. We were gonna bake a cake, but when we were gonna put the cake in, we noticed that the clean lights started blinking on it. When we turned the oven on, the burner fire dried up. I turned the oven back off, then back on and it came right back on. It ran for about 10 minutes and did the same thing. But we got our cake baked and it was still good.

So I called Viking and told them that we got a problem with the oven. They set me up with the service provider, North office in Nixa, Missouri. I was contacted the same day by that provider. I did not have the serial number of the unit on me so I had to call them back on a Monday. And about that time, they told me that they had Googled our address and we were out of their service area so they couldn’t work on it. So I called Viking back and they set me up with DKC, a provider out of Harrison, Arkansas which is just about 30 miles south of me. But I didn’t hear anything for a couple of days so I called DKC and they told me at that time that they don’t work on Viking Ranges. So I called Viking again and we went through it again. And they told me they were setting it up again with DKC in Harrison.

I told the gal, "We've already tried this once and they don't work on Viking Ranges." She put me on hold and came back and said it was set up. And at that point I assumed that they had called DKC and they were gonna do it. When I followed up with a phone call to DKC, they told me that they did not work on them and that they refused the work order that Viking sent. So I thought I would get a call back since DKC refused the work order, that somebody should know this ain't transpiring. But nobody called me back.

So I called Viking again. And they set me up with Mintex from a place out of Branson which is really close to my home. But I don't know if they're an approved Viking service provider or not because I couldn't find them on their website as a Viking service provider. Both times I've talked to people there about them and nobody have their contact information. But Mintex came out and they’re a great bunch. They looked at the oven and verified the issue. They told me that they did contact Viking for some assistance in diagnosing the problem and was told, "Here's the service manual in PDF format. Figure it out yourself.”

And so, the tech studied the service manual. They then came back out and looked at the oven again and he determined that there was a part that was not working properly and it was causing the burner to shut down. There's a sensor in there that senses the heat coming up in the oven. And if that doesn't sense the heat rising, it will always be a fail-safe. It will think the burner is not lit and there's gas coming in. So, it shuts the gas off. So he got that part ordered.

I waited on the part but I haven’t heard anything from Viking or Mintex. So I called Mintex last week and asked them if they heard anything on the part. He told me that they were still waiting on the part. So I called Viking. I went through three people and I ended up with Joyce from the escalation department. She was very nice and helpful. She told me that the part had been on backorder and that it was shipped out on Monday, Feb. 6 and it would be a two-day ship. I was thinking it should be here on Wednesday. So I called Jeremey at Wintex on Wednesday and asked him if he had received the part. But he said no, he didn’t have any part and no ETA on it, too.

So I called back to Viking and talked to Joyce and told her that I’m at the end of my rope. When I mentioned that the part was gonna ship out Monday via two day ship, I said I wasn’t told that. I asked to speak to a manager but she said she’s gonna be the one to help me and I was led to believe that there was no area manager, as well. So I hang up, called back and spoke to another gal, Ronda who was very helpful. She said that she had worked with Joyce in the past and that she was very good in what she did. She had confidence that she got it taken care of.

5 minutes later, Joyce called. She told me that she found out who told me that the part was gonna ship on Monday, but it wasn't her. But she's the only one I talked to in depth on the previous week. The Viking cooktop works great and I’m very happy with it. I love everything about it until I got my oven fixed. I was also very much looking at the Viking Refrigerator because we used our older refrigerator in the remodel and doing measurements, and the Viking fridge gets the opening perfect. It would look like a built-in but now I'm really having second thoughts about that with the runaround that I've experienced from Viking.

Love my stove. About a year old. A bit annoying that out of the 6 burners only two (left) do a quick water boil. More sad about the illustrations and temps mapped on panel. All coming off with cleaning.

Our designer and the manager of the store we went to highly recommended the Viking range. We love its look and the small oven is awesome. My husband is the main cook and he loves how it simmers where you can get it really low and then also for making meatballs. As of this moment, our Viking isn't working properly. Parts are needed and the appliance repair company said that they have been waiting on it for over a month now. But other than that what works is great. The only suggestion I could make is for them to have a childproof type of lock. They got plastic covered knobs but those don't look good. The ones where you can push in and turn would be awesome, but I could not find any.

Purchasing a Viking range was the contractor's decision, but we were asked if we were okay with that and to me it's one of the best out there. The whole thing is awesome because right now in my other home, I have an electric range and there's no comparison. You can cook faster and you can turn it off and on and have the heat go away. We have the grill part in the middle of our range, which I haven't used yet but I love that feature. Overall I haven't used the range much yet since it's our second home and we were only there over the holidays, but the little bit that I did, I loved it.

My wife had a top-of-the-line range but she didn't like a lot of the features on it. So I just decided that rather than listen to her complain about this thing, I'll just go buy her something that was good. She's Swedish so Viking is perfect. But there's a few things I need to do because it doesn't have a couple of features. It doesn't have a timer and some other things. I'm also going to test how hot it gets in the oven using some special gadget because we don't know if it ever reaches temperature or not. Though I'm sure it does because it's hot. The other range would blink a light when it reaches temperature and we'd know that it was ready to go. Little things but it’s fine.

Also, if they can get these switches fixed in the front because the knobs wobble around. The repair guy said that's just the way they all are. So I think they could do a better job in manufacturing that switch because a couple of the switches that worked on the oven are very solid and don't wiggle around. But unfortunately, all the other ones on the burners wiggle around in a big circle. The repair guy was supposed to fix it but he doesn't think it'll really be any better. But I'll wait until he's done before I worry about it.

So far, my Viking Range is so good. The only thing is the cleaning since the top is not that easy to clean well, even with the solution that came with the appliances. I have experienced using the same kind of ceramic top and it's not easy to clean but I was hoping Viking will be a little bit better than my previous one. Nonetheless, I like the true convection feature and the baking came out really good. But I find that it seems to take a longer time to warm up or heat up to the temperature as compared to the one that I used before, which was not a Viking. Also, it will be nice to have a timer since it doesn't have one.

We’ve always known about Viking Ranges, and personally, I didn’t want to buy a Viking range because it was too expensive, but we did because my husband wanted it for the quality. Also, it’s made in America, which was a huge factor for our purchase. In fact, I wanted an Italian made oven since it was cheaper, but then we went with the American made Viking range. The people at the Viking dealer were good. However, there was a conflict between the brochure that was on the display and what was actually available. So, that probably needs to get tightened up. But so far, I love our Viking range's quality. We've been having an incredible cooking experience with it. Also, I like the look of it. It has clean lines.

Our Viking Range is beautiful and it cooks very well. It actually cooks quicker than my former range. It looks very nice to the eye and that's really why we chose our specific model. However, our door isn't level. The right side of the door sticks out further than the left side. So, the light is often on.

I got a whole kitchen package two years ago. I've had some things break on them but every time I've called, I've had great customer service under the warranty in getting items replaced. So, it's never been the issue. My husband and I put houses for a living and we decided to put Viking in one of our high end properties that we do. When we went to the International Builder's Show, we stumbled upon the owner who was speaking at the first day to a group of people and we're intrigued by his speech. So, we decided to solicit the package about trying to improve the quality of the product. Viking is comparable to Wolf but Wolf is still slightly ahead as far as quality. I have a 60-inch range, refrigerator, dishwasher and hood and they're all Viking. I like the griddle in the range but I hate the indoor barbecue. I wish I had the double griddle. If I could switch it out, I would. So, that was my huge mistake but it's fine. I just don't use it because it's too much of a mess.

We were very excited to purchase multiple kitchen appliances from Viking. In the 14 months I've owned them, I have had to have the stove serviced 5 times, including visits where the tech didn't even bring the correct parts for our model. Repair companies they use are terrible at responding, scheduling appointments and servicing the products. I STILL haven't had the stove fixed after multiple calls with Viking. With these issues, I wouldn't recommend anyone purchases the product if you want a fictional stove.

Based on reviews online and their reputation with their consumers and my friends, we decided to get a Viking range. The cost of their range is twice the quality ratio. I'm not quite sure what I paid the premium for and the quality of the range is in the middle: not great nor bad. The infrared broiler is my favorite feature of the range, but it does not work that well. I also like the convection and the high-BTU burner. The gas regulator stopped working. It malfunctioned and I couldn't get any gas output from anything including the oven or the burner. I made a service call for it and they took care of it pretty quickly. Overall, Viking range is overpriced with limited options.

I have a three year old Viking 6 burner range. When I try to turn on to preheat oven, instead of preheat light coming on it clicks into clean mode and clean light blinks, and oven doesn't preheat. I phoned our Viking repair person this morning and coincidentally, I am the fifth person to call in the same problem in the last week. She also noted that our ranges are of similar age. Very curious if this might not be a recall issue?

I got our Viking range at Big George's Appliance Center in Ann Arbor. It was the only dealer in the area where we could get the Viking and they're very professional. They're not just trying to sell us whatever is there. They were very good about asking me what my needs were and what I was looking for. And they gave me lots of options.

I bake and cook so I went with the dual range. I'm in heaven. I have never boiled water faster. Cooking takes half the time it did before. And in the 33 years that I've made pies with my mom, this is the only oven I've ever made a pie where in the crust did not have to be covered by foil or an aluminum ring. There are also seven different baking modes and I've used all of them except for one. I love the versatility and the ease of use for the gas top as well. I like having the knobs on the front too 'cause I hated having to reach over what I was cooking and deal with the knobs at the top or the back. I also like that it's very sleek and elegant looking. There are metal knobs and there's no stupid electronic display. It's impressive, it has a well thought out design and easy to clean, too. I'm very happy with the way it looks and also with the way it performs. There's nothing that I would change about it.

VIKING 30"w ALL GAS RANGE 4 BURNERS CONVECTION MANUAL CLEAN OVEN: Purchased NEW in 2007. Initial cost: $3,480. To date, have spent $868.05 in repairs, and it is still a faulty stove. When using the oven (baking) the knobs that control the range become so HOT you cannot touch them. They do not get "warm", they get HOT... so hot you jerk your hand away. We've had the authorized technician out multiple times to troubleshoot and replace burnt/melted parts. The "DSI Unit" has been replaced twice. The "therm" and "board" have been replace at least once. We have notified VIKING, and their response has been less than stellar. The current "board/DSI" does not melt and die, rather it just quits working: the oven shuts itself off and won't work until it has cooled down. Needless to say, this is POOR POOR POOR. I will likely never be able to recommend any Viking product.

Viking range is great. I love the way the stove boils the food and cooks it. It has a whole setup on it. You don't see the flame come up but can adjust the way it goes. It's also safer for children. But right now, it's not working and it needs to be fixed. We called customer service about it and they called a contractor. We're still waiting on the parts to come back. The wires burned up so we had to replace the whole surface. Once I receive the parts, I should be doing great unless they need it to be replaced.

I have owned my Viking oven for 13 years. I purchased the oven because of the Viking name and quality. Unfortunately, I have had 3 costly repairs and I am now faced with a fourth repair after a self-cleaning cycle broke the oven lock. The trouble is compounded by the fact that I cannot finding a repair person in the area willing to help. I have contacted 2 companies that have said they would call me with info about repair and neither has returned a call. Disappointed to now have 4 costly repairs on a very expensive appliance.

Our Viking range came with my new kitchen. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, and I love its high quality. I like the dual nature of it. It's an electric range gas top. I love how it looks and feels. We had a service call on it, though. Periodically and almost in a random way, the settings for the oven were not matching what it was doing. So we’d put it on bake at 425 and it would bake at 200 or something. And every once in while, it would switch into the cleaning mode and lock itself up and get really hot even though it was set on bake or whatever. It was totally weird. It locked us out once, and it didn’t cook while we had food in it.

I went to Best Buy and they had Viking Ranges on display along with the other brands and I liked it. It's simple. There are no any electric screens which I didn't like. It was all manual like those round switches. Working with the team members was great and they explained everything. Everything we received was in good condition except there was an issue. The thing we put on the top of the burner to hold anything like a big bowl has small rubbers so they won't make noise when they touch the panel and one of them is missing that small rubber.

In my opinion they need to lower the price a little bit so we can buy the whole stuff 'cause right now I only have an oven and the microwave. I was looking to buy a refrigerator and a separate oven plus a washer.

I love pretty much everything about my range including its look and the evenness of the burners. It's easy to dictate the temperature. The oven is also easy to use. Everything so far is good.
