At first, we weren’t going to go with Viking. We were going to go with Wolf, but then there was someone in the neighborhood selling a Viking Refrigerator for a ridiculously low cost. We bought it and we wanted all of our appliances to match, so we also bought a Viking range. The quality of the range is good. It’s a commercial type quality, and that’s what we liked about it.

I had a Viking range in my older home. So when I was remodeling the house over a year ago, the designer who was helping me with the kitchen picked it, and it was installed over the summer because renovation takes a long time. Then I moved in November of this past year. I used it during Thanksgiving and it worked briefly for a second, but then it broke. Every Viking product that I've purchased is broken - the range hood, the refrigerator, and the range. I have a very busy life, so by the time I get around to calling for anything and figuring out where I need to call and what I need to do, and get everything registered, and realizing what is all wrong, it takes me a while. I have a job, so every time I try to call and stay on hold, I can't call in, because your business hours are my business hours. So I'm not happy and I would never buy one again.

I've had Viking for 30 years. However, the quality of the new Viking range is not as good as before. The handles fall off and the door doesn't close as tightly. But I like the burners and it's easy to clean the stove. I also like the flammability, the BTUs, the output, and the adjustability of the flame.

In the later part of September 2016 we purchased a Viking Range model # VGIC 53014bss with high expectations only to find problem after problem with this range, as a matter of fact it's a laundry list of problems and too many to mention. I could write a book in less time, it's just not believable!!! My theory is and it's verifiable that some of the more important components (parts) they install are sourced from China, Mexico etc. They are not manufactured in the U.S. or Europe and this is where the PROBLEM lies. This might not be politically correct but it's a matter of fact, if you use inferior parts you should expect problems, and the words (made in the U.S.) becomes ambiguous, it should state assembled in the U.S. It's like buying a Cadillac only to find it has a Japanese motor. Buy cheap you get cheap

Now onto the Viking customer care reps, these poor people are subjected to more abuse from disgruntled customers and their complaints, it's as if they were part of the manufacturing process, I personally have had only good if not excellent experience with them! They can only do so much and have no options other than to say they're sorry when problems arise, the executives are solely to blame (Accountability). It seems they must be distant from the overall process i.e. quality control, part supply, etc, etc, in actuality they should be embarrassed. Why should any Viking customer have to wait weeks or even months for service due to a lack of part availability? This also reflects on the service people and their small company's service job becomes protracted and customers like myself get disgusted.

I've recently dissuaded two of my friends from making a Viking Range purchase and not for any reason other than reliability, I am not going to be embarrassed. I just say don't judge book by its cover (oh but it's beautiful). I agree but it does NOT live up to its name, it's so sad especially when you spend big $$$s and that's for low end of the Viking range line. In summary and again I will not recommend Viking, hence to be forewarned is to be forearmed!!!

I bought my Viking Range at Best Buy and I love it. Pacific Sales, the company that sold me the floor model, was very helpful. We were in the middle of a remodel at our house so we were buying a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a microwave for the counter. We looked at the Viking ones and we were kind of disappointed with them. They didn't live up to the Viking quality. Also, the salespeople there told us that they are actually made for Viking by another company because people want the Viking line and matching appliances. Nevertheless, I've always liked Viking gas ranges because they're most well known for their commercial type features. I've liked the cooktop most of all because I like cooking with gas. In sum, my experience with Viking Ranges has been fantastic.

    Original Review: March 14, 2017

I had a frustrating and disappointing experience with Viking Ranges. I chose it because of the style and cost but the range I received was horrible. The first time I used it, I turned on the burners and then I turned on the oven. Underneath the burner, it exploded into a flame so I got a fire extinguisher and put it out. I called Viking and they sent out a repairman. He looked at it and he said that the range was a total loss so they arranged to have it replaced. When they came out to replace it, they arranged the time with me.

The night before the agreed time, they called me on a robocall and told me a different time. So I called them back and I said, "I've already arranged to meet at the time we agreed." They called back and said, "No, we can't do that." They said that the only way I can arrange the time is to wait 'til 24 hours before they'll tell me when the time would be. That's hard to do if you're working so that was a hassle. So I said, "I don't know what to do because I can't meet that time you want 'cause I've already arranged with my work to be the other time, which we already agreed to, well, I already made the appointment." That was a week earlier and they said at that time it was fine to have the time that we arranged. So I did, then they said they didn't have another day when they could tell me when they could come back. They called me an hour later and said, "Okay, we can meet your original time." They came and replaced my range.

Viking’s customer service reps were fine but their service people were a hassle because of the scheduling. The actual service man who came out was fine. What happened was very dangerous. The repairman even said that if I turned on the oven first, let it go for a long time and then turn the burner on, there could have been an explosion. But I had the burner on first and then I turned the oven on so all it did was catch fire underneath the burner. My Viking Range works fine now. It's just that I got a really bad Viking Range in the beginning.

I thought Viking products were exceptional. They are not. Our range is 15 years old and he have had it repaired four times. Each time, the cost is very high. Also, a repair business doesn't want to come to our house because we are 40 miles away. Viking did talk them into it. We have probably spent more than $1,200 on repairs since we had the range. I will not buy another Viking product.

We were looking for the type of professional oven and knew Viking had a good name. We looked at the other ones, too but chose the Viking. The quality is a little bit shifty and could be better for the price. I’ve already had it serviced back in November because the oven wasn’t starting for me right away. However, the repairman came just two weeks ago, that’s how long it took me to get service. We live in a very small rural community and it was very frustrating calling Viking. Also, the oven is a little small for me at times. Other than that, it’s fine and I really like it.

    Reviewed March 3, 2017

The Viking Range in our house has been in it longer than we have and we've been here for maybe four years but it's pretty good. I got it serviced last Friday to make sure all the parts are working in order and for the most part, everything is working fairly well. I like the griddle part of the range because it's fairly easy to use and clean. The whole range is easy to clean because everything pops off fairly easy. I'm not a neat freak but it's nice to be able to get all the food out of the crevices. Also, cooking on it is fairly easy.

But, I can't get the temperature low enough. The low feature is too hot and when I simmer, I can't seem to get close enough to it without igniting the pilot light again. For example, usually with rice, you put on a low simmer and the low setting is just still too hot for it. Also, I don't know if this would interfere with the flame but we have a gas stove and an overhead exhaust and it would be nice to have the exhaust where the oven outtake is. Because instead of having an exhaust over the food, it would just be more on the same plane as the food. It's also nice to not have the fan on because it's so loud when I'm cooking and I feel like I'm in a wind tunnel. But other than those, the functionality of the stove is quite useful.

The dual oven is also pretty nice but its cavity can't fit a turkey. You have the three-inch roasting pin, the elevation to that and then you have the bird which has a big breadth to it so I'm not able to put it in the oven. But, for the most part, it's pretty nice with the conduction and all those features. Then, we have an industrial professional grade, so it's raised off the floor a good three inches. You could use that to gain more cavity space. In addition, we have a little warming oven to the side and the width of that is too narrow but the height on it is perfect. I would like it a little bit wider for most dishes and sheet pans.

I think it's very reliable and very consistent. However, my husband said that if he had his wishes, he wouldn't buy a Viking range again, but he doesn't cook and he doesn't get into the kitchen at all. I think it's because it's such a big piece of equipment but the actual components of it are very small. Wolf is what he really liked and the dial controls are a lot more flexible based on what you're cooking and the cavity is much bigger. But I would say some positives with Viking is that the cooktop space of the range is very open. I have a lot of big pans but I'm able to put two big pans side-by-side without having problems. Also, I can put a small pan on top and not feel like it's being swallowed up by the burner.

We were building a home three years ago, and I looked up about Viking, Wolf and other ranges and decided to get a Viking. I thought it was a top-of-the-line product and I liked the sleek look of it compared to Wolf. I'm now on my second Viking since the one that was initially put into my home did not heat properly and it did not cook right since the day it was installed. So eventually, the door wouldn't close completely and that was under some recall type of thing. Viking ended up replacing the entire unit.

However, there is only one repair service here in Columbus that deals with Viking as far as I know. I keep being told that's because Viking is either charging too much money and/or won't supply the parts and I would love to see some more competition rather than just one repair service that I have to call and pay their prices to repair a Viking product. I have a lot of friends that have Viking, and we all have to use the same people to repair the products.

Our Viking Range is beautiful. We looked at the features and, it's just so solid. The burners are huge which was something we definitely wanted, and it's perfect for our kitchen as it fits in with everything else. Their reps were very helpful and knew the product well. We had it installed, and then, all of a sudden, there was a gas leak. But it wasn’t the stove. It was the plumber. Apparently, the back-left of the stove, the part that comes from the gas line that goes into the back, hadn’t been tightened and he put pipe dope on a compression fitting, which was stupid. Some of that got into the two back burners and they weren’t working, and we smelled gas every morning. So, we had their authorized tech come out and he was fabulous. He found it, cleaned out the ports, and all the burners worked beautifully. So far, it’s the best oven-stove combo we’ve ever had and we love it.

We had a built-in grill when we moved into the house about 40 years ago. We then replaced that and got a 24-inch Viking grill. When we decided to get a new stove, we wanted to match it up. Previously we had an electric stove. We checked other things like BlueStar, but we liked the looks and the style of Viking so we selected it. It's great and the heat of the range is so much even and it works so much better. The temperature control is really nice and I like the one pullout rack which is really convenient.

The product is also easy to clean. I lift up the racks on top of this each day and I can dust underneath there. You can take the ceramic tops or the steel tops off the burners as well. It’s really nice and so much better than electric. It also looks like a million bucks and will never go out of style. It always looks like a professional item and is classy looking too. It's the best there is. The installers did an excellent job and we had all the trim pieces. We inquired about getting a broiler from them but Viking doesn't make them anymore.

I’m going to have to have some Viking products when we move. I was in the Fire Department before I retired and all the fire stations had Viking grills and gas stoves. There were about 8-burner stoves and that’s where I first saw them. They always worked well. I am thankful for Viking's good products and am appreciative of them. I’d highly recommend Viking.

Our Viking Range was only 4 years old when a tiny part in the electronic panel broke in half. After searching for many hours for someone willing to come and fix it, we were told that most likely the whole electronic panel would have to be replaced. Not satisfied with this, we continued our research and found that this defect was very common, and that the $20 dollar part could be purchased and replaced quite easily. We found someone that ordered the part (he was the one that told us that this was quite common and that a recall should have been done on our model of range).

Since being fixed, the control knob has never worked very well and was quite finicky to turn the oven on. Now, after owning this range for only 5 years, the circuit board has shorted out. Rather than spend a dime on fixing this, I would rather just throw it out and buy a new and more simply made range. DO NOT waste your money on Viking products. They do not stand behind their appliances and it is nearly impossible to find someone that will waste their time fixing them. Go with something that can be easily fixed as I believe all appliances nowadays are designed to fail hours after their warranty has expired.

My oven worked beautifully until I decided to use the clean cycle. Afterwards, I lost the alarm on the timer. I also noticed that it was not keeping accurate temperature. Called repairman who came out and checked the control board and said it needed replacing. Replaced it today and, after repairman left, I tried to bake. The oven reaches the set temperature but then begins to cool down and never clicks back on to warm back up. I am so frustrated. Just to have a repairman step foot in my house is $95! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Updated on 03/07/2017: After replacing control board and thermostat, my oven still does not hold temperature. It will reach temperature setting initially but will decrease and never reach original set temp. After authorized Viking repairman replaced thermostat, he called Viking Help Line. They were not able to offer any help. We are now replacing internal temperature probe to see if that makes any difference at all. After we replace this part, there is nothing else to replace (other than the oven). I am so disappointed as I purchased this oven because it was made in the USA and was supposed to be top of the line. We have now invested way more money than we should have! Never, ever, ever use the cleaning cycle!

Viking Range is difficult to get in touch with customer service and parts take WEEKS to get. And when they do arrive they don't always work. I have had my Viking range since 2006. In the beginning we had to have the ignitor switches replaced. I believe it was under warranty at the time. The smoke eliminator fell out of the larger oven but it is very difficult for the homeowner to replace as the heating element covers the area where the casing of the smoke eliminator and I do not feel comfortable removing the heating element. Another issue that we have had is the self-cleaning on the small oven stopped working. I have since figured the issue out that the door wasn't closing enough for the self-clean to work. I now need to push the door tightly closed until the self-cleaning function kicks in.

Now comes my biggest issue. On the morning of December 25, 2016, I cooked a breakfast casserole in the larger oven. Later in the morning I went to put the turkey in the larger oven to find that there was no heat. The fan continued to run but neither the broiler or bake element would work. I called one of the two "certified" Viking specialists in my area. They couldn't come out until December 29. Once they arrived they called Viking who told them that I needed a new circuit board. I had issues with getting in touch with the Viking recommended Mr. Appliance after I put down a 50% deposit and was forced to call another Viking recommended "certified" appliance repair company. The second company called Viking Range and ordered the parts that were needed for the repair.

It took 3 weeks to get the parts because they were in production. The parts finally came in and the repair guy came out to the house, put the part in... it didn't work. The circuit board was faulty. He then tried to move the small oven circuit board to the larger oven and it shorted because once he tried to put it back into the small oven it didn't work.

So now I sit here on February 20, 2017, almost TWO MONTHS LATER, with no oven at all (it was difficult only having access to an oven that only holds a 9x13" pan) and no stove top (one of the repair guys told us that we had to disconnect the gas in order to repair so we had to hire a plumber to come out to disconnect the gas for the low low price of $130. That was done on 1/3/17). I have since had to purchase a countertop burner because I am assuming these parts will take weeks to get. Every Appliance Repair company complains about how hard it is to get in touch with Viking Range. I am fed up with Viking Range and will never recommend their products to anyone, especially for the price.

UPDATED ON 04/07/2017: I continue to stand by my stance on NOT purchasing Viking products. It took close to $1700!!! (Over $1200 was for parts alone - several that weren't needed had Viking been able to figure out what was wrong with the oven) and close to THREE AND A HALF MONTHS TO FIX my range. First due to the fact that circuit boards are manufactured by different companies and thus are not made the same so they need to be rewired to adapt to your oven. Second, parts take a long time to get. 2-3 weeks was the average time it took to get my parts. Third, Viking has a problem figuring out what is wrong with their OWN product.

We couldn’t get it right and it was because of multiple things. When they put it in, they got the wrong backing and it took three different people just to get that right. It was a huge relief when Viking replaced the stove for us. I like the stove, but when it's on the blower is so strong that I can’t put a low heat on my stove top. If I have the oven on, I can’t put low on the burners because the blower blows into the burners. The repair people that we had were polite and professional and I don't fault them in any way. We also discussed with a Viking rep who was there setting up other models and he indicated the benefits of the range. In January the left burners quit working and there was a flash code for the burners. I called Viking to inquire about the warranty and found the unit was registered to another person who bought it 1 year earlier. I did not know it was pre-owned and would not have purchased it if it was. From the Viking customer service rep I learned it had a history of two repair calls including a replaced control board ($800.00 part cost). The code on the induction top indicated that it may be a generator board (there is one for each side) with a part cost of about $1200.00. They also indicated it was out of warranty.

I have talked to the store, Viking techs, independent service tech and there has been no resolution to my issue. The "code" has changed since the initial event. Since there seems to be a need for a second module, is this a problem with this model or is this one a lemon. Viking did have a 5 year limited warranty on the induction top and modules in the past this but no longer true. I would like a resolution to this issue.

To say that I have been extremely disappointed with my Viking oven is putting it mildly. This oven has broken three times since 2012. Two of those times was in the middle of cooking Thanksgiving Dinner. The problem with this oven is a computer chip panel that continually burns out when the oven becomes hot. I have had to replace this part twice. I question why Viking would engineer such a problematic oven and then offer a replacement part that is only under warranty for a year. I have contacted Viking customer service by phone and by letter and their only response is to tell me the part is no longer under warranty. I have replaced the Viking oven and I will never buy another Viking product. I am writing this to alert other consumers to be aware of this issue and the lack of customer service when considering purchasing a Viking range.

There was not a Viking dealer close to me in West Virginia. So I bought a Viking gas range in Maryland and I paid to have it shipped. I had it for a few months now, but the oven quit working. I had it repaired five times and every time it died, it was the same part. Finally after about a year and a half, Viking offered to give me another range and another warranty. I got the same model but a year newer. They had the rollers on it where mine didn't. I used it for six months but the oven quit working. It was repaired twice, but what they decided after the second time was that it needed what I call a torpedo fan that would come on when the oven got hot and blow on this little electronic part that kept dying. It was repaired once after they put the fan on and in June of last year it died again.

After about a year and a half, the store that was sending a repairman to me from Pennsylvania went out of business and all of a sudden I didn't have a repairman that could come. So Viking made arrangements with Bridgeville Appliance in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania to come and service. Each time that I had a service, I called up and then in two weeks the guy had come and sometimes he'd have to order a part. The guy came from 15 miles away and when he looked at the stove, he had no idea how to attack it. I don't know whether they paid the guy or not but it was under a warranty. When the second oven died last June I told them, I absolutely wanted my money back and they did not offer me that. I told them, "I do not want the same model." I've had two and neither ones worked.

They then emailed me and I talked to somebody in Mississippi. They finally put me over to somebody who offered me four models. I told them, I would be willing to pay a normal fee to upgrade but I wasn't going to pay the full price. I chose a gas top with electric oven and it was finally installed last December. So it's been six months without an oven. Right now, the oven is still working but I haven't used it a whole lot because I've kind of got away from using it. But It's been almost three years playing with this.

Viking honored their warranty but the first product I bought was not even self-cleaning. It was a basic stove and I don't think they had enough installation around the oven to protect that because that electronic part sat on top of the oven underneath the burners. And when they had to repair, they took the top off, different repairman did different things. After four or five repairs, you get a little disgusted. They kept telling me that I was the only one who had the part was dying. But that didn't make sense. There should have been a recall. When they put that little torpedo fan blowing on, I could hear the little fan go on.

When they brought this last oven, there was a $6,900 and some dollar price tag on it and I only paid about $4,000 for the first one. So, they really upgraded me. I've got really good service with the repair, except sometimes, getting someone here took a time. Each time the oven broke down, I had at least a month or six weeks without an oven. I was more without than I was with an oven. So I would not recommend this product.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased a full set of Viking appliances. They were installed in early November 2016. Shortly after install our wall oven started getting an F3 error (totally out of commission). We called Viking and waited more than a week for a response. Once I spoke with the repairman, he said, "I'm not sure why Viking provided you with my contact info. I don't support your area." We're on the Eastside of Seattle in between 7 large metropolitan areas. This happened two more times before we actually got connected with a repair company that supported Viking and our area. The repair company came out, and had to order two parts. The parts took more than 2 weeks to order so consequently we had no oven for the holidays. Two weeks after the parts were installed, the same issue (error code F3) happened again (completely out of commission).

Again, called Viking; no response. Called the repair company that helped previously (they are great, btw) and they came out and now ordered the same 2 parts and have to wait until 2/23 for them to be delivered (today is 2/14). I asked Viking about what happens next. They said, they are not sure why I'm upset with them... They have to go through this process for the warranty. After they reinstall these parts for a second time and if the error comes back, then they "may" consider extending our warranty. They "may" consider? What about replacing the oven for one that actually works? How long are we supposed to live without an oven. They don't care. Moral of the story; don't buy Viking. Not worth the money and they provide terrible customer service.

When I had a problem with the warranty and me registering my product, the issue wasn't quickly resolved. I had made several phone calls before I was able to make a date for someone to come out and look at the issue that I was having. I was being pushed around a little bit because I never registered my product. So, they said that they were gonna register it. I called back a week later and they hadn't done it. It's something that I could have done on my end, but they said that they were going to do it. I had to say, "What's going on?" And then they finally worked it out. So, once registering the Viking was taken care of, I was okay with it. But the customer service wasn't the greatest at the time of getting my problems resolved.

But other than that, it's great. With a Viking range, whenever I go to sell the house you feel like you did the most bang for your buck. I also have a Viking refrigerator and I thought it's the same as what my brother-in-law has, it looks identical. But his has a water faucet and mine doesn't have one. I didn't pay close enough attention when I bought it. So, I would suggest Viking should bring that back into their low end refrigerators.

I'm a contractor and I've put in appliances a few different times. I also put them in the last house that we remodeled. On that one, we went all commercial-type appliances and I had lots of problems with those. Unfortunately, the refrigerator went out three different times. And the installation of the dishwasher was crazy. I've installed probably a couple of hundred dishwashers before but for that particular dishwasher, I had to do some modifications and stuff on it to get the water in. If I'm not mistaken, these dishwashers are made overseas.

But the only frustrating thing that we've really had with the appliances has been the microwave. The LED lights have gone out. And the same is for the dishwasher. So the repair person who came out ordered new panels for both. He said it may take up to a month to get the parts. But so far, we've been really happy with the oven for the price that we got it for. The other one was about $8000 and it was 48-inch range. But now this one, it's a cheaper designer line. And the service has been good with it. It's not the dual fuel. It's all gas and it's cooking great.

We remodeled our kitchen so I looked at a lot of ranges. When I looked for a 100% American made product, that took me to Viking. I liked the look of the Viking and I also heard good things about them from people I knew who had owned them. So I purchased the Viking Range and had it installed. After they finished everything up, we went to use it. The cooktop worked fine, but the oven did not. We were gonna bake a cake, but when we were gonna put the cake in, we noticed that the clean lights started blinking on it. When we turned the oven on, the burner fire dried up. I turned the oven back off, then back on and it came right back on. It ran for about 10 minutes and did the same thing. But we got our cake baked and it was still good.

So I called Viking and told them that we got a problem with the oven. They set me up with the service provider, North office in Nixa, Missouri. I was contacted the same day by that provider. I did not have the serial number of the unit on me so I had to call them back on a Monday. And about that time, they told me that they had Googled our address and we were out of their service area so they couldn’t work on it. So I called Viking back and they set me up with DKC, a provider out of Harrison, Arkansas which is just about 30 miles south of me. But I didn’t hear anything for a couple of days so I called DKC and they told me at that time that they don’t work on Viking Ranges. So I called Viking again and we went through it again. And they told me they were setting it up again with DKC in Harrison.

I told the gal, "We've already tried this once and they don't work on Viking Ranges." She put me on hold and came back and said it was set up. And at that point I assumed that they had called DKC and they were gonna do it. When I followed up with a phone call to DKC, they told me that they did not work on them and that they refused the work order that Viking sent. So I thought I would get a call back since DKC refused the work order, that somebody should know this ain't transpiring. But nobody called me back.

So I called Viking again. And they set me up with Mintex from a place out of Branson which is really close to my home. But I don't know if they're an approved Viking service provider or not because I couldn't find them on their website as a Viking service provider. Both times I've talked to people there about them and nobody have their contact information. But Mintex came out and they’re a great bunch. They looked at the oven and verified the issue. They told me that they did contact Viking for some assistance in diagnosing the problem and was told, "Here's the service manual in PDF format. Figure it out yourself.”

And so, the tech studied the service manual. They then came back out and looked at the oven again and he determined that there was a part that was not working properly and it was causing the burner to shut down. There's a sensor in there that senses the heat coming up in the oven. And if that doesn't sense the heat rising, it will always be a fail-safe. It will think the burner is not lit and there's gas coming in. So, it shuts the gas off. So he got that part ordered.

I waited on the part but I haven’t heard anything from Viking or Mintex. So I called Mintex last week and asked them if they heard anything on the part. He told me that they were still waiting on the part. So I called Viking. I went through three people and I ended up with Joyce from the escalation department. She was very nice and helpful. She told me that the part had been on backorder and that it was shipped out on Monday, Feb. 6 and it would be a two-day ship. I was thinking it should be here on Wednesday. So I called Jeremey at Wintex on Wednesday and asked him if he had received the part. But he said no, he didn’t have any part and no ETA on it, too.

So I called back to Viking and talked to Joyce and told her that I’m at the end of my rope. When I mentioned that the part was gonna ship out Monday via two day ship, I said I wasn’t told that. I asked to speak to a manager but she said she’s gonna be the one to help me and I was led to believe that there was no area manager, as well. So I hang up, called back and spoke to another gal, Ronda who was very helpful. She said that she had worked with Joyce in the past and that she was very good in what she did. She had confidence that she got it taken care of.

5 minutes later, Joyce called. She told me that she found out who told me that the part was gonna ship on Monday, but it wasn't her. But she's the only one I talked to in depth on the previous week. The Viking cooktop works great and I’m very happy with it. I love everything about it until I got my oven fixed. I was also very much looking at the Viking Refrigerator because we used our older refrigerator in the remodel and doing measurements, and the Viking fridge gets the opening perfect. It would look like a built-in but now I'm really having second thoughts about that with the runaround that I've experienced from Viking.

My wife had a top-of-the-line range but she didn't like a lot of the features on it. So I just decided that rather than listen to her complain about this thing, I'll just go buy her something that was good. She's Swedish so Viking is perfect. But there's a few things I need to do because it doesn't have a couple of features. It doesn't have a timer and some other things. I'm also going to test how hot it gets in the oven using some special gadget because we don't know if it ever reaches temperature or not. Though I'm sure it does because it's hot. The other range would blink a light when it reaches temperature and we'd know that it was ready to go. Little things but it’s fine.

Also, if they can get these switches fixed in the front because the knobs wobble around. The repair guy said that's just the way they all are. So I think they could do a better job in manufacturing that switch because a couple of the switches that worked on the oven are very solid and don't wiggle around. But unfortunately, all the other ones on the burners wiggle around in a big circle. The repair guy was supposed to fix it but he doesn't think it'll really be any better. But I'll wait until he's done before I worry about it.

The people at the Viking dealer were good. However, there was a conflict between the brochure that was on the display and what was actually available. So, that probably needs to get tightened up. Our Viking range came with my new kitchen. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, and I love its high quality. I like the dual nature of it. It's an electric range gas top. I love how it looks and feels. We had a service call on it, though. Periodically and almost in a random way, the settings for the oven were not matching what it was doing. So we’d put it on bake at 425 and it would bake at 200 or something. And every once in while, it would switch into the cleaning mode and lock itself up and get really hot even though it was set on bake or whatever. It was totally weird. It locked us out once, and it didn’t cook while we had food in it.

I went to Best Buy and they had Viking Ranges on display along with the other brands and I liked it. It's simple. There are no any electric screens which I didn't like. It was all manual like those round switches. Working with the team members was great and they explained everything. Everything we received was in good condition except there was an issue. The thing we put on the top of the burner to hold anything like a big bowl has small rubbers so they won't make noise when they touch the panel and one of them is missing that small rubber.

In my opinion they need to lower the price a little bit so we can buy the whole stuff 'cause right now I only have an oven and the microwave. I was looking to buy a refrigerator and a separate oven plus a washer.

So, I recently bought a new one at Best Buy and the team there was great. However, my first one was made so much nicer and everything was heavier. They don't make ranges like they used to now, though I would be perfectly satisfied with it if I never had my first one.

I wanted the Viking Ranges' look and also wanted it for the resale value. Everybody says Viking is top of the line but it's beat up and cheap. The quality was not as I expected. I've had one for over a year now and am disappointed because I've had cosmetic issues with it though the repairs have been great. I also have had troubles with the handles turning off. The knobs are hitting the screws that hold it going to the front panel so then I’ve got a really loud rattle with the exhaust fan. It's amazing when it cools down and the skillet pan's rattling on it. It gets so loud it disrupts conversations. Luckily, it's still under warranty and they’re gonna take care of it when they come back.

Apart from that, I like the way it performs. It cooks well. Also, the whole customer service experience was overwhelming but was better than expected. I was doing a DIY project and had issues with the cabinets so it took a long time to get the range unpacked and installed. But they treated me very well. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my Viking experience.

The dealer and delivery crew were great. And the service person has been here to look at it for a couple of issues. It was perfect. Overall, I got a good product for the money I paid and the individuals there at Viking really tried to help me when I called them up with an issue. I also have a Viking refrigerator and I've had to live with two dings in its door for about four weeks. But they're willing to help me because the doors have to be made and they're replacing them. I like the way my Viking range looks and it's very attractive. We have all Viking appliances including a hood and it makes the kitchen look really good. We had electric before and now we have gas. We like the gas better than the electric; that's a good feature. However, the range had a problem. We got it about two and a half years ago and the oven never seemed to work right. Then, it started tripping the breakers.

So I called Viking; they had a Viking technician come out, go through the oven and discovered the problem. On Monday, the technician is coming out to put a new board in it. They came out before Christmas and it takes a while to get the parts from Viking. They finally came in, were going to come out and repair the oven on Monday. Also, I had a problem with the dishwasher and they're going to fix that. I stood there, watched them go through the range and I was impressed with the technician that came out and diagnose the problem. They were responsive as far as the repair.

Plus, the team has been very good and really helpful on the phone. I called, told them I have a problem and they checked to make sure that we had registered. But, there was a snafu that they said, "we hadn't but we knew we had". They looked into it, discovered that they had misspelled our last name and verified that yes indeed it was under warranty. I didn't have any problems with that at all.

We've been real happy with it and the only issue we've had is a light bulb that burned out. We haven't had anybody locally to come out and repair it yet. We've been trying to contact the people at the place we bought it from or the local shops that work on Viking but we haven't had heard back from them. We went to a dealer called Builders Supply that sells high-end appliances since the contractor sent us out there to go look at ranges. We looked at Viking, Wolf, KitchenAid, and GE. But my wife picked the Viking 48-inch range with two ovens because they had an extremely good reputation and my wife liked its appearance and the way it operated. It was delivered in October, but I found out that an installer had to set it up so we paid some people to do that. Then it turned out that the hinges on the larger oven were bent or broken and had been that way when it was shipped to us.

We were told over and over that they were moving their parts supply deal from Mississippi to Atlanta. That was what was holding it up and it was just a matter of a few days before it would be done then we would get the hinges. But it took forever to get them to the point where the people at Mr. Appliance, their warranty contractor here, called me repeatedly to apologize. So it took a little over four months to get the hinges. Consequently, the stove is right now a little over a year old and for the first four months, we didn’t use one side of the stove. But because this is a $13,000 stove, we thought it would have been a better deal than that. But when we finally got the hinges, everything seemed to be fine. We only had a problem with leveling it, but when we had some people come out to level it, it worked fine for a while.

Another problem was the indicator lights didn’t come on anymore. We also noticed that things were cooking too fast so I bought a thermometer and put it in the oven. But when I set the oven on 350, it came up at about 425. It clearly needed to be redone from the standpoint of recalibration. This has now been the week before Christmas. Mr. Appliance sent a man out and he looked at it. He was really good and knew what he’s doing. He figured out that a part has gone bad and it's not doing what it’s supposed to do to regulate the temperature in the oven. Also, there were fans in the back that didn't work anymore. So if it’s supposed to cook at 350, we set it on about 250-275 and regulate to see if we can get it there using the thermometer that I put in.

The technician came out the week before Christmas and I was told that it was no big deal. We just order the part and have it in. Since it's been 2 weeks, I called Mr. Appliance. Their rep said that they might have a delivery on Thursday or Monday of next week and she would call me if my part was in that order. I now have a $13,000 doorstop, sitting in there, not able to cook in the major oven anymore. So we're disappointed at the quality of our purchase. And when I call, I don’t seem to be able to get anybody on the phone over there.

I hated the dealer too. They sold me some parts for the range, one of them being a $250 skirt that goes across the front, which hides the legs. It turned out that when we got it in the house, it wouldn’t fit. Somebody had taken it out of the box and the box was thrown away. When I attempted to return it because I couldn’t use it, they told me they don’t take anything back if it’s not in the box. This is despite having just bought close to $40,000 worth of appliances from them. This is the worst experience I’ve had so I would never go in there again.

This stove has been a freaking nightmare and this experience stinks! Viking doesn't do what they say they’re going to do. I’ve spent nearly 50 years in business and customer service is the most important thing you can do. But you get nothing from Viking. If somebody asks me about buying a stove from them, I’m going to tell them to not walk but run in the other direction. If it doesn’t get better quickly, I’m going to have my attorney sue Viking for deceptive trade practices under Texas DTPA, which gets you triple damages. I’m going to take the $39,000, buy a Wolf stove and use the rest of it to take ads in the paper stating not to buy a Viking.

I purchased the 3 Series Freestanding 30" Gas Range from Guler Appliances in Rockford, IL. Very shortly after beginning to use the stove the problems with it became very apparent. The fan began making grinding noises shortly after the oven reached temp and continued through the entire cool down process after the oven was turned off. The oven does not hold temperature and is regularly at least 60 degrees off, and after it preheats the heat continues to decrease. This makes it pretty hard to bake multiple batches of anything. The first batch overcooks and the second batch barely cooks. It's ridiculous.

The convection oven does not cook evenly. The batch on the left side of the oven overcooks and the batch on the right side undercooks. The purpose of a convection is even cooking. When on any baking setting the bottom of the pan overcooks whatever is on there (cookies, scones, etc.) even when moved to the top rack. The burner knob on one of the burners is almost too tight to turn. It does not turn smoothly. The original repairmen came out and told me this was beyond them. Now Viking is taking their sweet time seeing if they can remedy the problem starting with a new motherboard. Great way to spend $4,500!

Placed an order for Model RVGR33015BSS from Us Appliance. It was shipped by one carrier and brought to Denver. The order was then moved to another carrier for the trip to Trinidad Colorado. I went to the carrier and picked up the oven (we live in a rural area). Upon inspection of the box for visible damages I found none. I did not open the box. The box was unloaded at my house by me, and we took the oven inside... we noticed the door was open on the oven but when we got into the house we found that the brackets that held the outer door to the inner door were broken and the outer door was hanging by some screws.

I notified US Appliance with pictures. They came back and told me that I had damaged the oven and it was my problem. I contacted Viking and my customer rep told me there was not much she could do. I was told because I picked up the stove at the shipper's; it was my responsibility. There was no other damage to the stove. One small dent on the bottom of the front kick plate that was not visible. My wife and I decided to go forth and repair the oven ourselves. I had a local welding shop, reweld the brackets on the front door panel, we purchased a new piece of glass and reinstalled the door ourselves. FYI the spot welds that held the brackets on were at best way too small and the welds did not penetrate into the parent metal.

I also noticed the oven would not light, so I took the cover plate off and inspected the spark for the oven part found the cover plate was installed incorrectly and the spark was grounding on the frame. I took the cover plate to my shop and increased the size of the hole by 1/2" and repaired the spark boot and it is working better. However I did notice the oven will not light from the convection bake position. I have to start the oven in bake and after it gets hot move it to convection (I think the fan caused a draft).

I'm disappointed in US alliance and will not do business with them in the future. We love our rebuilt stove. Serial number 111715C10200028. I'm giving it two stars because I think the stove may have been damaged at the factory, and the stove could have been packaged better. It was placed on a pallet with flimsy straps. It is possible that the unit was damaged by a shipper but there are no marks on the box indicating a fork from a forklift got into the wrong place.

I needed a new oven after 31 years. I started doing research and going to different places. I had certain requirements like I've got animals and I wanted induction. I also wanted front knobs and dials. I didn't want all the push button stuff. I also needed a free-standing unit. Through my process of elimination, I was deciding between a KitchenAid and a Viking because there's no Miele here in east of London. The KitchenAid didn't work because I didn't like the way the controls were positioned on the surface of the unit. Then I was at the appliance shop and I started looking around at the different models. I saw the Thermador then I found that they only do gas.

Then I looked at the Viking and it looked like a beautiful piece of equipment. I loved the fact that it's 100% stainless on the side. It's not piecemealed with a black metal and just a front view of stainless. I love the front dials. They're very professionally done. I like the flat surface and the design of it. They've got squares and circles inside not these curves and arrows that go all across like a contemporary artwork piece. Moreover, it's an exceptional oven and has a great induction. I love it. It cooks well and faster. It also heats up my water wonderfully because I'm doing a pitcher of tea every two days. I don't have to wait six minutes anymore to boil my five cups of water.

I also like that as soon as I open the door, the light goes on. I don't have to sit there and press the light then open the door kind of thing. I like the fact that it's got three trays, two slide and one regular. I like the slide trays. I've only used my oven about a dozen times and so far, so good. However, there's no timer and when I pointed it out to them they said it's because it's a Brigade Professional. But it's not a major deal because I have a little timer right by the stove. So that's my unit and it's the best range.

I bought it at the appliance shop and dealt with one of the owners. He was very professional. I tend to do more research than the average customer and therefore I tend to have more questions. I try and dot my Is and cross my Ts and he took the time with me. I wouldn't hesitate to go back when I need a second appliance. This range is very expensive and I can't afford to make a mistake on an appliance because it's not something that I can take back and say it's not working and I need to get another one. I have a good warranty from Brigade for three years. I also bought the maximum extended warranty of three years so I'm hoping I never have to call on a warranty issue. I'm hoping this thing lasts me 20 years. But the fact that the warranty is three years and not a year has to say something, too, because everything else has a warranty for one or two years. And I know Viking was going down to two but I'm glad I got the three.

Only one extremely negative downside: We have had to replace the spark modules almost every year on average. This was the 10th time. It seems to be a design fault. You may expect that they last longer. The spark models are located fairly close to the rear burners of the stove and are only lightly protected by an thin sheet of aluminum cover. The way the blue plastic spark modules look after being replaced, it seems that the on-board electronics are cooked to the extreme as well. What's your opinion on that re Viking guys?

We bought our Viking oven to replace an electric GE Profile oven. Within 5 minutes I wanted my GE oven back. The oven has not worked since we had it installed. After installation, we contacted the company and explained that the oven would not light. The oven igniter clicks over and over again, but does not ignite. The warranty technician said that we had a bad ignitor bar and replaced it. However, this only fixed the problem temporarily. After several months the oven had the problem again.

Over the five year warranty, we had technician after technician come out, but the problem never seems to go away for more than a few months. The front burner also hums when it is on low, and the warranty technician said there was nothing they could do about it. When the problem happened again this summer, the warranty had expired and so far we have paid over $750 for people to come out and try to fix the problem. The last technician said that he would call Viking tech support and call us back, but he never called back. I am very discouraged. We spent a lot of money on this range that has never worked right. The only issue I have is with the Vent Hood. When it's on high, it squeals and it sounds horrible. We’ve had people come out and work on it several times and they can’t get it right. They blame it on Viking and so they’re supposed to come back out and do some other stuff to it and they just haven’t followed back up with it. But, I enjoy the flat grill on my range and all the burners that I have. I also like that it heats up fast.

We purchased a 30" Viking range. It is all gas. We have experienced extremely hot wall tile directly above grate that lines the back edge of range when gas oven is on. Water droplets run down the tile for first few minutes of preheating. I am worried to use the oven since tiles at back get very hot. I rarely use oven and we spent so much money to purchase Viking. Also there was a recall on a oven part and we had Viking service is already 3 times. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

When the oven is heating it does pull the moisture out of the oven and vents it out the back. If there is enough moisture it can show up on your backguard. If you start your overhead vent before you start your oven this will help elevate the moisture on the backguard.

I purchased a whole set of Viking Ranges for my new home and I've been really happy with the appliances. I got a range, a hood, a fridge, a dishwasher and a mixer. Their quality has been spectacular and the installation went great. However, recently I had some issues with my dishwasher. I called them about it but they've done nothing to help. I've spoken to three different representatives. The first one told me to go on and make sure all my products were registered and then call back the next day. When I called the next day, the lady said she'll get it set up for me. She gave me a repair number and the name of the company to call. I called the service company and they said that I'm outside of their service area and they won't do the work regardless of whether I'll pay for it or not.

I called back Viking and the next lady worked to try to find somebody else who could fix it for me. She looked it up and said I'm out of warranty and I'm out of luck. I told her I knew that I was two months out of my warranty and that I should've reported the problem a little bit faster. But I told her I have no problem paying to have a service provider come out and fix it. I was also willing to pay for the parts and I was not looking for them to pay for any of it. I was just looking for assistance to find an authorized service provider that can do the work for me so the dishwasher can get back up and working.

I'm so frustrated about my Viking appliances that I've really enjoyed and which have worked better than I anticipated. It's rough for me right now because I can't find anybody who is willing to work on them. And the company doesn't seem to care about whether or not I can fix the whole top of the dishwasher that doesn't work. Also, I have a matching set for the kitchen and replacing the whole thing seems ridiculous.

We moved into a brand new home about four weeks ago and I think I was most excited about the Viking range. We'd worked really hard for this house and I'd always viewed Viking as top drawer. What a disappointment it's been. Since the day we moved in, it hasn't worked and multiple visits by Viking repair people still haven't helped. We're about a hot minute from replacing it. The salesperson at our Best Buy who we've come to trust tells us that Thermador is a much better buy. So the morale to the story is buyer beware: go with quality even when it might not have the name quotient.

When we finally received the part it had a scratch down the front of it which means it had to be reorder again. I have contacted customer service 2 times and cannot get an explanation to why it takes so long to get the correct part sent to us. This is a mistake that they made in the first place. We now have been told we may get it by the end of January 2017. Our kitchen backsplash has been hold for 8 months because of this issue. I would never buy from Viking again.

I've never seen any appliance company operate like they do. My Viking range's quality is top notch. I like the different things I can do with it - bake, bake convection, convection. I also like the ease where I can control the flames on the stove top. It's a new generation and the flame goes way down now. In the past, it wasn't as adjustable but it's really good now.

We bought a stove and it was challenging to setup because we did it ourselves. Getting the gas connected in the back was difficult. It was in a hard to reach location so unless one has the right tools, it was hard to do from a layman's perspective. We finally called somebody in to do it for us.

My husband said that the grills over the burners are big. You have to balance a small pan on it but it has worked. I've done it and it seems sturdy. The stove works well and I like that it's just a basic range. It holds the heat for me which, my other stove gave up on. It doesn't have all the computer parts, which is what our other stove gave us issues with. The motherboard in the other gas range we had went out three times and it was very frustrating.

I'm really into cooking and I've heard about Viking Ranges a long time ago. When we were looking to purchase a home, it all had Viking appliances, which is what sold the house. I have a fridge, range, wine fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. Everyone at the Viking dealership was super nice, helpful, and explained the different models. Unfortunately, I have electric where I'm at, so there weren't too many things to pick from on that side of things. So we went with the D3 and it's been great. The only thing that stinks is my wine fridge went out and I've been trying to get it fixed.

The quality of the range from Viking is awesome. I like the ability to control the heat range. So, I can go up to three rings, and to get a pot of water boiling fast, I put it on all three. I also like that I have a couple of different convection settings. I've never cooked with convection before and it's really awesome that I have the ability to do that. If a person has the money to do it, it's definitely worth doing because it's a great feature that they have and offers.

So even though it was past the warranty, plus we had a problem at the beginning with the settings of the range, we believe this range is a lemon. They say because we didn't have complaints earlier, it's not. Customer service was horrible! Our oven stopped working during roasting our prime ribs, we had to ask neighbors to finish the prime rib and barbecue the other one; the hot dishes that were going to go into the oven after the prime rib was done had to go to other neighbor's house.

We would call customer service and ask them to return our call, but they never did. So we had to call over and over again. That meal was at Thanksgiving time and we still don't have it repaired yet, and they called saying the part hasn't come in so they're canceling tomorrow's appointment! Right during the holiday season when we like to do a lot of Christmas baking! So it's ruining our Thanksgiving and Christmas! Thanks a lot Viking! No we have a very expensive oven that really can't be used because you don't know the temperature it is set on. I called Viking and they would only sell me another panel that would do the same thing. IMO this is not something that should happen within the lifetime of the unit!! If I were the manufacturer of a high end product like this, and this happen I would offer to make it right!! The Viking range is a quality product but we had a very rough start with it. We got a $10,000 range and it's not a cheap item by any chance. But the handle on the small oven door was not mounted properly. It was crooked. And then, the igniter on both ovens didn't work properly. One oven didn't work at all. It would get hot once and then, wouldn't, and would turn off. And the other oven would click, click, click a whole bunch of times every time it went on an on-off cycle. So we're not too thrilled. They should do a better job inspecting and testing the product and shouldn't be delivering defective items.

In the Viking's website, their request for help is broken. I went in the customer support area and requested help. It triggered an automated email that told me that they were going to look into my question and respond soon. I also got a second email that was an error, that said some other email was undeliverable. And then, I never heard back. So I'm guessing that the email was my request going to some support on the Viking side and for some reason, it didn't go through. It was a fiasco.

When I told the vendor who sold us the oven of the problem, they were quick to respond. They gave me the name of the local repair guy who provides support for Viking. They were scheduled to come within a couple of days but they didn't come, call or follow up. So a week later, I called them and they sent somebody but didn't fix it. They ordered a part, and two weeks later, they've never called us back. So I had to call them back. I escalated and they sent somebody who was sharp. He had to adjust the igniter. It wasn't sparking close enough to the burner so the burner wasn't lighting up.

To make the long story short, the salesperson at the store should have called us and followed up to make sure our problem got fixed but never did. They did not even check that the range was delivered. Then the repair people dropped the ball and never followed up with us. So it took us almost a month from when it was delivered to when we were able to use the oven. Other than that, everything is working fine. We love the Viking range. It's a very nice stove and the cooktop is great. It's nice to work with and hopefully will last a long time. We're happy with it but their support system is pretty badly broken.

We wanted six burners for any time that we would host the family party so a lot of thought went in for this particular range and hood. My husband made the choices and it had to be electric for the self-cleaning and gas for the cooking part. The reps were knowledgeable and they told us what was available and what we could get. My husband had one picked out and when we found out it was not self-cleaning, the rep steered us in another direction.

Now we're very happy with the Viking range. We're enjoying how evenly it cooks and I like how the racks slide out. We also have the Viking hood and it's been working very well. It's a little noisy sometimes if we don't turn it up all the way so we have to talk to the builder and see if they installed that properly. We hosted Thanksgiving where we had 18 people over, and we pulled it off and everybody was pleased. It was the most beautiful turkey we ever pulled out of the oven! It was so evenly brown and it was just amazing. And all the food came out hot. We were able to boil water quicker than any of the other ranges that we've ever had. It also cleaned off easily by moving the racks off the top and wiping everything down. The range is so wide with those six burners, my husband and I weren't bumping into each other when we're side by side.

The builder selection for our new house was a Viking Model RVDR3301 Range. The range burners are very difficult to control and it is easy to overheat what you are cooking. The simmer functionality is very non-linear and if you’re not careful the burner will go out. Cleaning the range top requires dismantling the burners, which have some delicate parts.

The oven temperature takes forever to preheat and the temperature varies quite a bit. Initially it would varied much as 50 degrees at 300 and the average temperature was off by 25 degrees. Even after two adjustments to correct the offset it still makes cooking delicate things like a cake difficult and everything seems to take longer to cook. The window in the oven door fogs up if you are cooking anything moist making it difficult to see what’s going on in the oven. And the chrome plating came off the oven racks and they needed to be replaced under warranty.

We do quite a bit of business with them and the relationship from them and getting to know them is how we heard about Viking. We have a client that goes through the design process and they are assisted by Appliance World with the selection of their appliances. We work with them four days a week with our clients visiting their location. They've obviously stood behind Viking and have a showroom and merchandising set up. Recently they downsized their showroom and kept the Viking line pretty prominent with still having 10 or 15 other lines.

We bought about $20,000 worth from Viking the last couple of months and so far, so good. The registration online is great. From a consumer standpoint, some of the information can be hard to extrapolate from the website. For selling $8,000 to $40,000 refrigerators, there could be some better photos and better highlights of what makes the company different. That market has become quite crowded and most folks have some brand loyalty, whether it's Sub-zero or Dacor or some of the others. Viking could do a better job of letting the consumer know via the website what those features and benefits are and where variance is between them and the next guy.

Viking is a brand name that's been known for quite some time. We did a fair amount of research and, in my personal opinion, Viking is overpriced fairly significantly. But beyond that, the simplicity of it was important and there aren't a lot of electronics involved although one major flaw is having no timer. Our Viking range is not very big but it's certainly well-made, well-constructed and very durable. My wife does a lot of baking and she is getting used to the stove. There were some spills on it and we tried to clean them up. We got the manual out and read it. It said to put a wet towel down for a period of time, but that doesn't work at all. It said not to scrub it with abrasive scrubbers and so we're trying to figure out how to keep it spotless as we can.

I paid to have the range installed and had it all prepared for the installers. I had cut the countertop, vacuumed everything out, and removed the old stove so they had a pretty easy job. One thing I don't understand is Viking's concept of forcing people to buy a stove with a washer. We wanted a stove and we didn't need or want a dishwasher, but that was part of the deal. It was a deal-breaker for me, but my wife was pretty much convinced that's the stove that she wanted. It doesn't make any sense to force somebody to get a washer and I would have rather taken the cost of the dishwasher off the stove and felt much better about that.

This started almost a year ago. We purchased a Viking refrigerator and a freezer which were large, built-in units. We're about to complete our house and ready to have appliances delivered and installed and it started with the refrigerator and the freezer where they set up a delivery time. However, nobody showed up for the first delivery schedule that they had setup. We didn't get a phone call or anything. The home that we were constructing is about 60 miles or an hour away from us. I was out there all day long waiting for the refrigerator and freezer to show up but they didn't. So, I called the store, they apologized and said they didn't know what happened but the appliances will arrive on another day. So, I drove back down there, waited all day long, but nobody showed up on the second promised delivery date. They finally showed up during the third promised delivery date.

They were supposed to send a four-man-crew because the units were very heavy, large built-in ones, and they were supposed to have somebody there to help install them and whatever else they needed to do, but as soon as the truck pulled up, there were only two people in the truck. I figured that was a red flag because that was not what they said they were gonna do. The two guys offloaded the freezer and they set the freezer into place. They were bringing in a refrigerator and I noticed that it was damaged at the bottom. I brought that to the attention of the delivery crew and he went, "Oh, yeah! It is." So, they just set it in place and did not install it since it was damaged. The delivery driver said, "Someone will be out here tomorrow to fix it and get it installed."

The next day came and went, but I didn't hear a word. I know how schedules need to be taken care of, so I tried to be patient and I waited for a while. I then got tired of waiting. I called in and said, "Your delivery guy said somebody would be here tomorrow. That was a week ago. When is somebody gonna come and fix this refrigerator?" I started getting from the store that, "Oh, well, the installation is not included and you're gonna have to pay." I said, "Wait a minute. When you sold me this you said it was delivery and installation. Somebody came out to deliver it and said they would've installed it if it hadn't been damaged." We started to fight on this. I said, "Well, when is somebody gonna come and fix it?" I finally got somebody to acknowledge that and sent somebody out there.

A guy came out and he worked on it all day. And then, he decided he can't fix or install it and told me that they're just gonna have to replace it. They're gonna send me two brand new units. So, he left, and again, the waiting game. A few days went by, I started calling again and nobody seemed to know what was going on. It has been two months since they began trying to get the stuff delivered and installed. I recently got a text message from the guy at the store because I reached out to them again. I said, "Something's gotta happen here. Y'all finish this." He texted me back and said, "Someone will call either today or tomorrow to schedule an appointment." I have not heard from anybody since then.

My stove didn’t work very well on Thanksgiving. We leave the bird cooking in the oven and we've put a timer. But when we go check it, the oven was off. We turn it back on and it lights on. And then when we go back to check, it was off again. That happened three times. But I have no complaints over their services. Overall, I'd still recommend Viking.

I've been using Viking Ranges and it's really the only range I've ever owned for 30 years. The one I have right now is probably the third or fourth generation of range I got from Viking. I like it a lot and it's easier to clean. I've got a lot of different options but I would buy Viking again if I needed another range. Their sales team were great. They did everything they said they were gonna do and delivered it on time. It worked out great. They were courteous and prompt and delivered it when they said they were going to.

We went through Pacific Sales at Best Buy and they were able to work with us and help us out. We got the range, microwave and dishwasher. We had to wait for five weeks to get the stuff. And when they came to install it, there was a problem with the microwave. There was a broken screw inside the microwave itself so the installers could not put the screw through to mount it onto the cabinet. We called Vikings and they told us that we have to wait another three weeks. And that they couldn’t order one until this unit was turned back in. Finally they were able to get one in a couple of days and they came out to install it. And the second microwave had the exact same problem. I confirmed that it’s not the same microwave to make sure that they didn’t turn around and bring the same one back. It was a totally different serial number, so two microwaves had the exact same broken screw.

The installer just happened to have another microwave on their truck that was supposed to be delivered to some other lady’s house and it was too big for her house so she had to cancel the order. There was some issues about whether or not he could install it because he had to turn that one in and then it had to be reassigned. But I was able to call Best Buy and they worked around it and they were able to give him the okay to install that other microwave. So we finally got it installed. It wasn’t the original one that we had ordered, but it did not have a problem. It all got worked out. But it was a headache for us trying to get everything installed correctly. Best Buy was kind enough to give us a $250 check towards the headache that we had. They were very friendly and helpful. And so, at the end of the day, we were happy.

I was looking for a range and didn't want one with all the bells and whistles. Viking Range was the cleanest and the simplest range I saw. I liked the fact that the Viking dealer was a private showroom, it was very nice. They had a lot of other models and stuff that I could look at. Plus, there was no high-pressure sale. However, I have two concerns for the money that I paid. One is the grate on top. The little rubber feet keep breaking off. My understanding is that the only way to fix that is to buy new grates, which is absolutely ridiculous because the grates are perfectly fine. The second is I had to have them repair the blower fan in the range. Again, I think that for the money I paid it would last a lot longer. It's still under warranty but I shouldn't expect that. I am disappointed in the grate rubber stops and the fan blower, but I love the cooktop.

The range wasn't holding the right temperature and it had to do with a computer glitch within the motherboard. So I called up Viking, and with the warranty, they sent someone within the week, and he fixed it, and I haven't had a problem since. Everything in general is very high-quality made. The people at the Viking dealer at P.C. Richard were knowledgeable and overall, it was an excellent experience.

This morning my Viking range turned on by itself. I researched and found that there is a voluntary recall by Viking for this exact problem, but when I called I was told that my model was not covered under the voluntary recall, so they would not send me the repair kit. Instead they told me to contact an authorized repair service. While in the phone with Viking, my oven turned on by itself four more times. My oven is now unplugged and we have disconnected the gas line. I am extremely nervous about this issue. My model is the 307 series. Covered under the recall is the 306 and 308 series, among others. Does this make sense? No. In addition to this problem, we have had to replace the glass seal, hinges and oven igniters. We also purchased a Viking microwave which broke within the first 13 months. Very unhappy. Should have purchased a Wolf.

I wanted a Viking range and we purchased one from P.C. Richards. The guy we worked with was a very helpful, nice man. We started the renovation in July and since we’re doing everything ourselves, it took a lot of work to get everything ready and the people from the dealership were very patient with us. When we were ready, they brought the different things that we needed when we needed them as opposed to everything at once. It worked out very nicely.

So far, I haven’t had much time to do a whole lot of stuff with our Viking. I’m still getting used to it. I look at it and I’m thrilled. I like to bake and cook and I’m just waiting to get the time to try out different things with it. I like that the shelves are easy to move around. It helps out a lot. Also, they gave a lot of instructions on how to set things up inside the oven to make sure I can cook more than one thing at a time.

We moved in to a new house and bought new appliances. We were told by a local relative to work with this one supplier so we looked at what that supplier had in stock. And of everything they had, we thought this one Viking Range was the best and because it was out of the box, it was a little better priced than usual. It was the first one we ever had and we had it for years. However, at least once a year or every 13 months, the oven would break. Then it would take a long time to get repaired because the part wouldn't be in stock and it was always the same part.

So after the fourth time we had to replace the same part, we called Viking and asked them to accept responsibility for it. The woman we worked with there was perfectly nice and she said that she had to go through the district manager to get an answer. He did not approve it so I pushed a little harder and finally they said they will pay for the part but we'll pay for the service. We did that and nine months later, it broke again. I got back in touch and by then I had a long paper trail that I sent to them and they have a case file on. I got the district manager to agree to pay for both the part and the repair but it would have to be done again eight months later. So the woman I worked with gave me the email address where I could escalate the issue. She told me to send them everything and tell them that I would like a replacement.

I did that and said in my email, "If you have a technician who can come out and fix it that would be great. But we don't need a new one. We just need a working, reliable range. We really use our oven and it's out of commission so often and we bought a toaster oven at some point just to have something. We felt like we can't even sell this thing on Craigslist because it wouldn't be honest to sell it to someone because it's not going to work." I got an answer back saying that they agreed to pay for the part and the service and that they'll resolve the issue.

I wrote back and told them that's not acceptable. I copy furnished the President and CEO of the company and said that we've been so patient and this is the fifth repair in six years. With the stove, it's always the same repair. It's obvious that there's something wrong with it and we paid a lot of money for it and they need to stand by their product. So the President told a sort of fixer type guy close to him to call me and figure out what was going on. That said that they were going to replace my range and that he was going to work with the Level Committee so they can be more responsive a little earlier. I can't tell how many hours I spent trying to get the oven replaced and how much time it has not worked over the years that we had it. So this new one that we have, it replaced the old one and we've only had it for two weeks now. I'm happy it was finally resolved and we have high hopes for our new range.

They have a beautiful stove ring and some of the pieces that we were thinking about were on display which helped to be able to open the doors and look in and see some of the new features. It was nice to have a showroom with actual appliances in it. The quality is good so far. One of my favorite is the indoor grill top. I've used the oven and the cook top. I like the broiler underneath it - it's awesome. I also like the gas ring that has got different level of flames coming out, so the heat's pushed up more. Those are what's great. But I really don't like how the oven vents at the back get so hot. The guy who sold it to us was a nice salesperson and I had a technician come out as well who was good. We’ve previously lived in houses and in rentals that had Viking in them and I know that it’s a good brand. And when we were looking at the appliances, there was a couple that fitted in our budget and we also looked at the style of the oven. We looked at Wolf and Sub-Zero, and Viking, just a combination of the style, price, and functionality, won out over those.

We bought a Viking refrigerator and a range from an online company out of New Jersey. It came from the factory and it looked like it had been packed up with a dent in the door. It was underneath all the packaging and there's no kind of dents in the packaging. It was difficult to figure out how to get that repaired on someone else’s dime because it’s not our fault. The dealer was more problematic than Viking. It was like sending emails to a blank wall. I felt like they could’ve said that this was not their issue and they’re sorry for sending it to us. They were just searching to figure out who I needed to contact. After four emails and a handful of phone calls they told me to call Viking. And then Viking sorted it out as I could expect. They took care of it in a good fashion and took complete charge of its cost. Viking had someone came out and replaced the door.

Then, something also happened when they installed the range. Some of the workers tried to move the range around and they pulled off the door of our oven and that had nothing to do with Viking. But we were able to get that sorted out on the same day. It’s good for it to all happen at once versus a couple of times. The quality of the range is good and it seemed perfectly functional, especially after the door was fixed. It works when it needs to work.

We've seen Viking Ranges installed in other people's homes. Prior to purchasing from them, I did a little bit of shopping at Thermador, but my wife had her heart set on the Viking Range. I purchased it through Appliances Connection online, which was very simple. I talked to them and they shipped it to me well-informed of all the delivery dates. It was a pleasant experience dealing with them and arranging for shipment and delivery.

We got the whole package with the range and the vent hood and an external ventilator. However, I'm seeing some issues with it and I'm not really pleased with some things on it. The stove's leveled but the griddle isn't. It's made crooked and the oil runs off one side and immediately dump it into the catch pan. Then we had a Viking service man come out because the main door won't stay closed. When bumped, it pops open and turns the light on and shuts the oven off.

My wife said that the oven works well. She loves all the features of the convection and its temperature control. She's also very happy with the burners, though it has a large diameter. Maybe I should’ve got the Series 7 instead of the Series 5 because of the size of the burners. All in all, it's not quite perfect for me, but my wife loves it and she thinks it's perfect.

We saw at Best Buy that they had some Viking Ranges along with some other commercial brands. My wife was interested in a gas range with a black porcelain top. It came down to styling for us and we ended up with one from Viking. We like the appearance. However, Best Buy's people really didn’t know a whole lot about Viking. Viking had a promotion going on with their commercial ranges where they provided a free dishwasher. Because we didn’t buy the professional line, we couldn’t get that promotion. It was a little disappointing ‘cause the stove we bought costs as much or more than the original professional model we were going to purchase.

We’re also having problems with the Viking range as the oven hasn’t worked from day one and we've had it for over a month. We have an open service call right now and we’re waiting for parts. The service guy was out once but he didn’t have the right parts. He has to come back and hopefully, it'll be this week. We had a Samsung top-of-the-line Chef Collection gas range in our old house right before this Viking range and it caused us nothing but grief. It’s a little disappointing for us to move up to Viking, which should be a higher class, and now we’re having problems with our brand new range. My wife likes the heat control of the Viking range, though, and that it simmers much better than the Samsung did. She loves the cooktop. At this point, the Viking range has a great appearance but questionable reliability.

We initially looked at different models and ended up getting a better deal with Viking. Everything we bought came in with the package, which was nice. The dealer tried to work with us to get the best deal. The conventional oven in the gas top works great as well as the broiler, but unfortunately, the convection part of the oven doesn't work so we've had to put in a service call for it. It's a little disappointing since it's brand new and that's an issue.

Additionally, since that supplier is out of state, we took a couple of days to find out who could supply the Viking range. I had to call them back and then they gave me the name of the supplier, then the supplier took a day or two just to have them call me back. Luckily it was close to the area that we were, but the rep was getting calls from people from New York and other states so not too many people service them. Overall my Viking range looks great and I had great interactions with the people, but they're lacking in servicing.

I liked how the Viking products were built. They seemed very sturdy and the quality was very good. I love the high powered burner. There's one that's super high power so I can boil water really fast. But recently the timer broke on my range. I called the repairman who found damage to the door. The range was working fine but this was something that couldn't be repaired so it was a big deal. He then contacted his Viking rep but afterwards they sent me an entirely new range and covered the installation. They were no longer making the model that I had, so I ended up with an upgrade and I didn't have to pay for a thing. I was blown away.

The issue with the timers is that when the oven is heated up really high for cleaning, that destroyed the timer mechanism. The ranges don't come with a timer anymore and they had improved the range since I got mine in 2012. They sell a kit in case people's timers go out. But what they did for me was amazing. They stand by their product. I will be a Viking owner for life.

We went looking at different stoves and we were impressed with Viking by what we were getting for our money. Our place is propane/electric and we wanted a gas top and it's got a convection oven in it. We liked that idea in case the power goes out. We're in the mountains and the power goes out here once in a while. This range is super expensive and I would never normally go out and buy a stove like this. But we've got a beautiful house and this stove fits the house to a T. However it was hard to get the kit to transform into propane at the top and we had to wait quite a while. We were cooking on our camp gear outside because they had to go back East for the kit and we had to wait over two weeks.

That was the downfall and that wasn't very impressive. I was at the point of canceling the range because of it. It's a high-quality stove and they should have no problem getting parts for that stove. I wanted those parts flown to my house like next day delivery so we could get the stove into place and we couldn't even get that done.

I also didn't like that I have to get my glasses on and look really close at the dials. The stove has got a switch on the side. You push the button and the light comes on and it lights up the dials. It shows you when you turn the dial, you're gonna turn it up to high or medium, but it's very hard to see. It's got to upgrade. Otherwise, we love the stove. The stove is an awesome product, a very beautiful stove. It does a really good job of cooking and I'm impressed. My favorite feature is the convection oven.

We’ve had our old Viking Range for at least 14 years. We did some comparisons this time but still ended up with Viking because of our past ownership. The quality of the new range is top-notch and it has the ability to do the low simmer on the burners, which is really nice. In the oven, the slide rails are really nice, for the racks, too. The Viking dealer was terrific, knowledgeable and very nice and we had done a lot of background research so we didn’t really have many questions for them. However, we had a problem with the oven igniter so we called them back and they had somebody out to fix it the very day that I called. They were completely supportive.

I love the burners and the oven itself and I’m getting used to using convection. The old oven didn’t have convection so I’m playing around with temperatures. I really like the new range's quality and some of the features but there could be some improvements. One of those is the oven fan runs for a really long time after I turn the oven off and it is annoying to have that constant fan there. The oven window and the oven light are really miserable. There might be better ovens out there, in terms of the oven light, oven window, and that annoying fan. But other than that, it’s really nice and sure is pretty.

Also, Viking was acquired by another company and word on the street was their quality issues had been fixed. I also looked at Wolf and Thermador and read horrendous reviews about them, but they’re great products too. Ultimately the price point made the big difference for me and I bought a range from Viking. The quality's pretty good. Upon unboxing and installation, there were two burners that were inoperable so that was not a good start. I then got a service call in and haven’t heard anything from them and it’s been two weeks.

But I have been able to use it. I like the rapid heat oven which is very nice. I also like the true convection oven portion of it. It has three different convection modes, but the true conduct is very nice. And the overall appearance was very sharp. The dealer was good too. I did most of my research online and I have a rep that I used. I simply called him and said, “Order it.” It's a great product, well-made craftsmanship, and a value in the realm of high end, other than the burners. But I thought that may have been a shipping issue.

I have had a Series 3 gas range for less than 2 years & have had nothing but problems with the oven. When I first got it, it sounded like it was sucking air. The temp is always 25-50 degrees lower than the temp dial indicated. I ran the self-clean cycle twice & both times the door wouldn't unlock after the oven cooled down. I have had parts replaced multiple times. Most recently the main control panel was replaced so I figured all would work fine but it is worse than before. Now the oven lights, the fan comes on, the light to indicate the clean cycle is finished comes on (I wasn't running a clean cycle), the fan turns off & the oven shuts off so now I have no functioning oven at all.

When I called for service it would take at least 10 days for the tech to come out... Guess they only have 1 service guy. Finally heard from Viking who said they will replace my range but the replacement range is a downgrade (does not have the self-clean feature). That is not acceptable so they'll give me store credit. The dealer has nothing available in black, w/ self-clean option in the same price range as the Viking. So if I get a different brand & don't use all of the store credit, I forfeit the unused amount. That is not acceptable. The dealer has an "I don't care" attitude.

I have told both the dealer & Viking that at this point I will only be happy with a refund. Talked to Lindy at Viking on 10/24 & had no response w/in 24 hours so called again on 10/26. Got the impression she had done nothing about my request. She told me she'd call me on 10/27 in the morning but I have had no call back. I called Viking & was told a VP has to review and they will get back to me "hopefully within the hour or tomorrow morning". Unbelievable that a company with their reputation would be so difficult to work with. Their product stinks! Their response time stinks! Their attitude stinks! I will never recommend Viking to anybody.

Let me start off with how terrible this company is with everything they do. They claim that they strive to be the best with customer service and this and that but it's all false lies that any customer shouldn't believe. I will NEVER, EVER recommend this company to anyone or recommend anyone to buy any of their products as they are crap and parts need to be replaced numerous times throughout the year. A couple of years back we purchased a 7 thousand dollar Viking range and if I went on to explain the problems this oven has caused us it would go on and on forever. 500 dollar burners had to be replaced numerous times throughout the years as well as numerous other parts which weren't working, leaving us with repairs worth more or equal to the price of the oven from day one.

We decided to contact the company and put in a claim because we saw that they rebranded the company and a lot of complaints were filed with them in the earlier years about the same exact oven we had. They requested all repair documents even stating that they saw we had to get it repaired by them within the first few months. We spoke to a customer service representative named Lashelle ** and she was the most terrible one of them, all rude and didn't help with anything, barely got responses to emails and had to go out of our way to get a response back from her. She finished the review and said there's nothing they can do about the oven. Screw your company and crappy pieces of ** ovens which you do nothing for the customer who has problems with them. DO NOT BUY AS YOU WILL REGRET THIS PURCHASE SEVERELY.

Viking Ranges is known for being well built and for standing behind their products. We like it and it's very attractive, but we had some issues. We have a service tech coming out to explain the unit to us because we don't know if the broiler features are working correctly, or we may just not know how to operate it. Other than that, it's all been very good. We got a lot of compliments on it being in our home. They have excellent service and they treat us very well.

My Viking range cooks great and very fast, too. It's a beautiful appliance however, I don’t believe there's a timer on this thing to time anything. I don’t like the fact that when I turn on the oven, there's a blue light that comes on but there's no signal that says when it's gotten to the proper heat where the blue light goes out. And I have to be basically sitting on top of it to know the proper heat. I've had other ovens that will beep when they’ve hit the right temperature. The other thing I don’t like is the ergonomics of it because I have to bend over to read the dials to see where they're at because my particular range has a little bit of an overhang to it and the dials are underneath it. That’s a very minor thing but an important one to me.

When we bought our house, it was furnished with brand new Viking professional series appliances. We have lived in our (new) house for 6+ yrs. Over that time period, the fridge has given us non-stop problems. The $8K+ fridge is inferior in performance to any standard appliance you could pick up at Lowe's or Home Depot for a fraction of the price.

Issues: Was subject to a recall - took 4+ mos to get recall parts delivered for a recall associated with a major safety issue (heavy fridge doors literally falling off the hinges and hurting kids... not some minor issue); Freezer stopped working. Have had 3 different Viking certified contractors come out to service it and it still doesn't work. We've paid over $1K in "fixes" - none of which have actually worked.

Entire fridge stopped working. May be the motherboard. May be the compressor. Will take months to get the part in and replaced. The compressor is under warranty but Viking will charge us $150 to ship the covered part back to them if it's not in fact why the damn thing isn't working. In total, we're looking at a minimum of 2+ mos to get it fixed. This is not the 3rd world, but if you have Viking appliances you'd be forgiven for thinking it given how you're forced to survive for months without a working fridge.

We have a mini fridge and wine coolers we are storing our groceries in... because our $8+ thousand dollar fridge doesn't work and can't get repaired in any kind of reasonable time frame with Viking's stipulations about who can and can't work on it w/o voiding the product warranty. All of our neighbors with Viking appliances have had THE SAME ISSUE. All of the certified techs will privately tell you Viking sucks. Their customer service is atrocious. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON VIKING. After reading very similar reviews, I can't for the life of me figure out how they are still in business.

When my range came there were some scratches on it and we’re having issues on getting a new one out. They keep saying they’re gonna order in the part, which they do. But then the part looks worse than the range when it was delivered. I wish they could package it differently, so that when it comes it’s better off. I tried calling Viking’s 1-800 number but they weren’t very helpful with it. The only person that’s helpful is the appliance guy that comes in and he’s been ordering the parts.

Over the years I’ve always wanted to get a Viking range. We moved back to America about five years ago and I went to remodel the kitchen, and that’s when I purchased one. The look is very nice. There’s a couple of quirks on it ‘cause when it came, the knobs were all put in the wrong thing. I didn’t know what was going on when we turned the stove on. I couldn’t understand why we couldn’t turn it smoothly from one adjustment to the other. We came to find out that the back of these knobs were put on wrong. So when the service guy came out, he looked at it and changed the knobs. As far as working with the Viking people, they’ve been very good and the service is top-notch.

One of the things I've noticed is it's difficult to see the numbering on the Viking oven on what you want to set it to since it's chrome and it is very shiny. When we turn the oven on to 350, we can’t tell when the light goes on or off when it becomes 350. We wait for five minutes and it should be there. We’re trying to get a little external temperature thing to put on there. Other than that, it’s really nice and it gets hot really fast. We like it a lot.

I don't know how this company is still in business. I purchased electric range early this year. At some point we damaged glass top of the range and ordered a replacement back in May. Today is October 14th and I sill didn't get it. I've been given different dates on when glass top should arrive and any time the date comes there is always an issue. Bottom line. I WILL NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE BUY Viking, period and advise anybody who is thinking of purchasing any product from this banana company think again.

I got a brand new Viking Series 5 range a year ago and had nothing but trouble. We had every part on it repaired or replaced seven different times. It was absolutely the worst stove I've ever had in my life. They then discontinued the model so we got a Series 7 a couple of months ago. But it's not holding the right temperature either. I talked to the Viking guys and they're coming out tomorrow to try to repair that. I'm waiting to see if they can calibrate the temperature. It fluctuated up to 100 degrees. I wish I'd have my old stove back. It was nothing fancy but far better than what I have right now. I would never buy a Viking again.

The customer service has been great but they did not deliver the meat thermometer that comes with the new range. They said they were sending it but I've yet to get that item. The repair people have all been lovely, too, but are just not able to fix the stove. I had numerous repair people come out. I even had somebody from Viking itself instead of the one they contract with. Also, I've wasted seven whole days with my first oven. I took off from work waiting for people to come fix it and they did, but nobody should go through that with an oven issue.

I would never recommend Viking. This new Series 7 range maybe fine, but with what I went through with the Series 5, they shouldn’t have had that product out there to begin with. And I don’t trust the new one. Hopefully, it's just a calibration issue that could be repaired. But I've been down this road with the first one which didn't hold a constant temperature either. I've already told some of my friends to not get a Viking and the reasons why.

I've owned Viking Ranges before in Nashville, Tennessee. However, I was a little bit disappointed in the workmanship put into the equipment. When it was delivered, the guys that installed it did a great job straightening one of the panels. I ended up having to get the wall oven unit replaced or at least they'd put in a new board. The stripping around the door that holds the heat in was loose and had to be pushed back in place. I complained to the store about the quality of the product and they sent me a new unit. The new unit looked better and it's working fine so far. I haven't had any codes on it. All in all, they dealt with all my issues and responded timely. They sent people back out to try to correct the problem. In that regard, the service has been great.
