    I am a recently retired US Marine Corps Marine and have been with Vector Security since 2010. Having a family at home when on deployment overseas I have come to rely on the knowledge that they were safe at home. The recent issues however, have shattered my confidence in Vector Security Systems Support. In December 2015 I decided to change my phone provider from TWC to another, not knowing the effect it would have on the security system. Noted, I was notify by mail that there was a comm problem in January.

    In February I made contact trying to get the issue resolved and was told a serviceman would contact me the cost and how to resolved issue. This never happen. I try again twice in March after the motion detector battery reports LOW. On the third call was given a wonderful lady by the name of Julie ** try to provide a new system. A few days later received a call from billing that payment was late because my credit card was change. Does the company think it's ok to provide this type of service and still require payment? The only reason why I have not cancel is because my wife have come to rely on Vector Security System. Pending a response or NOT from Vector I will make a decision the end of this week. Thanks.

    We are cancelling our services due to a move. In total it has taken me four phone calls and more than a month to have services cancelled. The national office transferred me to the local office, who said he could not handle the request and said it could only be handled by writing a letter and mailing it to a PO Box. I called back to the national office who said I could email the letter. I did so and asked that I be notified of receipt of the request. After 11 days and no acknowledgement of receipt I called the national number again. After 20 minutes on hold and 3 transfers, I was notified that the cancellation had been received, but that the staff person would have to submit a request for someone from the cancellation dept. to respond to respond to my email.

    Throughout this process I was asked by 3 separate people to disclose the name and contact information of the buyer of our house. One person went so far as to instruct me to ask the buyer's real estate agent for his personal contact information. This highly unprofessional behavior, pushy sales tactics, and complete lack of customer service all ensure that we will not deal with your company or recommend your services to anyone again in the future.

    I started service with Vector in 2010 when I bought my house and never had an issue; was really happy with the service. I upgraded equipment in August 2015 and when I did, asked if moving would be an issue because I knew that we would soon be looking to sell the house and buy a new one. I had full intentions of having Vector move with me and continuing my contract and service at the new address. This is where I made my mistake. I was told moving would be seamless. It has been a nightmare. For at least a week before our move date, I tried to get someone from Vector to schedule this transfer in service and it was nothing but confusion.

    The "moving department" would never answer the phone or return my messages. Finally, I started asking customer service to not put me on hold or transfer me to this "moving department". After about a week and a half of this nonsense, I started talking with someone named Brandon who I thought had everything cleared up. Someone finally called me to set up a service appt at the new address, we made an appt for a Wednesday afternoon, but then I got a call back saying that since I did not have my old equipment they could not help me and would have to get their supervisor to call me. I never heard back from them.

    Wednesday came and no one came for the service appt. The next day I called to just completely cancel my service, as I was done begging Vector to install the monitoring system in my new house. I was told this is not an option. At this point, I do not trust the company nor do I want them monitoring the security of my new house. I am told that I have to either pay out the contract, hope the new owners of the house take over the contract or continue with the service.

    It is simply infuriating that I tried to do the right thing and wanted to have this security system moved with me, but was totally given the run-around to the point that I am just done with this company, and now have no option but to stay with them until October 2018. I have no faith in this company anymore, in their customer service or in their ability to keep my family safe. It is quite unfortunate to have 6 years of history and then to have such an awful experience that totally changes my opinion.

    During a meeting and initial set up with Chris ** he had promised a portable key chain keypad which we never received. I reached out to Chris by text message. He first recommended to use our cell phones to set the alarm. After several text messages and reminding Chris the service we had with ADT came with a key chain keypad and he had promised us the same services so he did agree to get a key chain keypad to us. On March 23rd we signed up to use Vector. The insulator came on March 30th which we were very happy about. On March 30th I reached out to Chris with no answer until I ask about a referral bonus.

    On March 30th Chris agreed to get us the equipment and as of April 13th we still do not have the key chain. This was very poor customer service and I would not recommend this company to anyone else. I am also very unclear how the billing works. Chris quoted me that our bill will be 54$ which I am afraid that was a lie after our last experience with him.

    We had experienced poor customer service and due to the history we had with this, I had wanted to end our service and move on to a different company. However, given the amazing customer service follow-up to my family, after my comments were sent, my husband and I changed our mind. We were immediately contacted the next business day by a manager who inquired as to what had happened, apologized and gave multiple offers to make it right.

    An amazing employee named Jay ** was scheduled to come to our home and check out/update our system so that we did not experience any further problems. He upgraded our system to cellular at no charge and waived our overdue account/gave us credit for 3 months. I asked for new signs for our yard and Jay had them sent within a couple days of his visit. Jay was so professional and courteous to my kids when he visited. Even our large Great Dane who wanted constant attention from him did not seem to bother him!

    I cannot say enough great things about how this service professional and how we were treated after I lodged my complaint. Our family is very pleased with this. I wanted to say thank you for taking my concerns seriously and truly making it right. Please pass my thanks along to the manager that contacted us and Jay **. We have gone from wanting to leave your services to now being willing to refer you to our family and friends! I hope our family never has to rely on your company to contact the police, fire department or ambulance, but I now have confidence that if the need arises, our system will be ready to go.

    We are in the process of waiting to hear back regarding how we terminate our contract. I thought that in the meantime I would inform you of the poor customer service that has led us to make this overdue decision. Maybe it will help your company in the future. Our experience has actually been poor since signing with Vector. We had an issue with the sales representative that initially came to our home because the quoted price was lower than the price the monthly cost ended up being. You can see from e-mail correspondence what transpired there, but whether it was deliberate deceit to make a sale, or a mistake on behalf of the salesperson, it was disappointing. We haven't had a lot of interaction with your company since then, but the few times we have it has not been what I would expect.

    Years ago we had called in with questions about the system showing a sensor had been breached. We were home at the time and it concerned us greatly. When we called into customer service, they were not able to walk us through how to check what the problem was from your end. I believe we were told that it could have been due to a low battery on a sensor, but we thought you could tell us for sure. That was disappointing. There was also a time years ago when we had the panel pop up with a mention of the carbon monoxide detector. We did not know what this meant since we do not pay for that service through your company, yet given the seriousness of CO in a home, we wondered if the system had been set up for it and was alerting us to a problem. Once again, customer service could not help explain what happened. We went to the store in the middle of the night to buy additional CO detectors for the home.

    There was not a problem, but why couldn't our simple question be answered? Then last night we decided to terminate our contract after another poor interaction. I called into Vector with a question about why our system was beeping. When I did my status check, it said system battery was low. The representative could not tell me what the issue was and said if it truly was a low battery problem that it would be showing on the Vector computers. She said I would need to speak with a technician. I asked if she could walk me through any additional troubleshooting for this and she again said I just needed to speak to a technician. Your tech calls us, and not only is he obviously annoyed he had to make a phone call, he was not helpful. His tone was rude and when I asked questions he responded with "I don't know what system you have...we have like 5 different systems so I don't know what your particular problem could be".

    Not that he even asked me, but I explained I have the GE system. He went on to tell me a series of number and letters for the name of the battery I need. When I probed as to whether I needed to install these in the panels, in the box in basement he continued to seem frustrated "I did not know the system" and became more agitated. I finally asked how to silence the beeping so I could get my children to sleep. He rattled off a code to put in but said it would only stop the beeping for a very short time. I tried asking if what the customer service rep had told me was correct that the system battery should show on the vector side if that is truly the problem. I did not get an answer. I finally said "do I need to set up a service call?" He said yes. I did thank him for his time but I'm not sure why.

    I eventually called back into your office to see if I could get a more helpful representative. I did. If I had spoken with Anthony the first time I called in, I would not be cancelling at this time. He was so polite, professional, empathetic to my problem and apologetic to the fact that I had not been helped by my first call in or by the technician. I had hit so many different codes on my own. I had stopped the beeping at this point but Anthony still explained what I needed to do in order to check the system further and get the beeping to stop. He was the type rep that I would have hoped to get on the phone anytime I would need to call my security monitoring company.

    Since Anthony seems to be the exception, and not the rule at Vector, we are moving on to another company. I have sent a message already to receive info on how to wrap up the billing and contract. It is funny, because today I got onto your website and see that if I had went through the options on your home page, I could have found the answers there, but how sad that neither the initial customer service rep, nor the technician could give me any of the info that is on your own site. A customer should always feel welcome to call with questions, especially when it is regarding a family's home security that good money pays for each month.

    Neighbor put my number on this new system....PIA. She's had nothing but trouble out of it all week that she's had it. First it was the battery in the smoke detector. This morning they called ME because something wasn't right with the garage door, and she missed their call. By the time she got to the answering machine, they'd hung up and called me. She called them back, as they were supposed to call her CELL phone between 9 pm and 9 am, not her home phone, or my phone. This is a garage, unattached to the house, with nothing but junk in it! They can't get a tech out till next week, as the techs are off on Good Friday. Nobody is OFF on Good Friday, not even the city or county, or state! When she called, they couldn't give her info on the phone, because they "didn't want to give her the wrong information." She's had nothing but trouble from this thing since the day after they installed it last week!

    Homeland Security installed my [new] home alarm system nearly 12 years ago. They are simply terrific to work with. First, they didn't simply come in and install the alarm system that THEY wanted; they listened to what I wanted and what was important to me, as the homeowner; based on that information, they provided me with a set of relevant options for me to choose from - all of which were well within my 'cost point' for the system. Second, the installation was very professionally done; 12 years later, I am still very happy with it.

    And in the course of installation, they helped to refine my original plan, by re-positioning specific sensors (and explaining why) to improve the effectiveness of the system and reduce the likelihood of false alarms - advice that later proved to be entirely correct. Post-installation, their support has been superb in every way. If we were to move to a new home anywhere in Homeland Security's service area, there is no question who would be installing and servicing our new alarm system.

    When my family order Vector it took almost three weeks to install for various reasons including not having proper schedule time, not having proper parts, unaware of system and ability to install. Customer service is poor!!! Since the original installation we have experience several system problems. When calling we were directed to operator after operator and finally a very rude man from a different country who told us it would be the following week before anyone would come out and no one still has not showed, that was months ago. WHAT'S WORST THEY STILL TAKE THE MONTHLY SERVICE FEE FAITHFULLY EVERY MONTH without fail. We have made request after request for assistance and it has still gone unanswered. The customer service is very bad, the value of the system is poor and the installation was never completed or done properly.

    We cannot believe how much easier this experience was compared to ADT and Broadview. We got many different quotes and Vector Security was the best for our needs. We always had the basics for about 15 years and added glass break a couple of years ago.     I was satisfied with Vector Security in the years before but now after recommending my family to them as well since I trusted them over the years brought dissatisfaction recently. First, after setting up her account right after setting up my family was called to set up an appointment same day even though person said local office was closed. After, technician came he set up alarm system but continuously call after installed that home signal was not working properly and he need to come check (consecutive times). After talking with the company noted that there was no significant events showing while also saying that the technician that installed the equipment was not listed as an authorized person?

    After going through the test of the system through the company they stated that there is no communication showing going to the monitoring system. So, yesterday they said would call to set up an appointment for another technician to come out but still have yet to receive a call. So, this is an unsafe case with someone under false claims through the company while not making attempts to get this solved right away is just untrustworthy of the whole ordeal.

There hasn't been too many times my alarm went off but each time there was a quick and incisive response that was very reassuring that my getting this alarm system was a good move. The last time it was 2:30 or so in the morning and the alarm went off, awakening myself and my wife. Representative apologized and said he would have service department contact me and I could go online and download a manual. Have not received a call yet. He also did not know battery was in panel. Told me it was separate. I went online, downloaded manual and replaced battery. I feel I should have gotten a callback.

    I signed up with Vector Security with a sales agent (who later on Vector admitted was an outside contractor who was not one of their employees) 2 years ago. I was advised I'd be under contract to keep the service for 2 years. The equipment they installed was constantly broken, they have a handful of employees who are not helpful in any way. When I called to cancel they told me my contract was actually for 3 years and refused to discuss options. When I asked to remove my card info I was hung up on. Do not use this service.

The only thing that didn't work out as I was told was that a sales representative would contact me on the same evening as I called-in to pay my bill, because I had asked some questions important to my services and a possible expansion of them with a full explanation of costs. I never received that call.

    Even prior to this review being published, the manager from our local branch called me to apologize. He spent quite a while on the phone with me explaining how my particular security system worked, and he was very professional and knowledgeable. Oddly, this one incident and their prompt and courteous response made me feel even better about this company than I ever had. They went above and beyond to resolve the situation, and completely restored my faith in their customer service.

    Never had the need to use them until just now, but have been paying our service fees loyally every month for about 15 years. Wanted an answer to a simple question about the keypad functionality (what happens when you press the blue police button and other buttons on the left side). Was on the phone for 25 minutes with multiple people who said they're not technicians so couldn't answer the question.

    Finally got to someone who told me this would be considered an "emergency call to a technician". Said she wouldn't charge me (?!) and put me through. Couldn't hear a word this guy was saying, took 5 mins for him to find a pencil to write down my phone number to call me back. Told me that the white button on the left side with the exclamation point means absolutely nothing, and does nothing either. Nobody ever told us that, what a surprise we would get pressing that "emergency" button only to find out it did absolutely nothing in an emergency!!! Really disappointed. Thought it would not take over 30 minutes to get such a simple question answered.

    We currently have Vector for the home and the office. It hasn't even been one year since we first set up the system for the office and since then we have had countless false alarms with the sensors as well as random incidents of the cameras being down on the alarm.com app. We have had the home for a year and a half and have encountered poor customer service and reliability with the product and sensors. There have been false alarms and issues with "low battery" even when they have been changed. Vector is the most expensive alarm company and there is no basis for this given the lack of customer service and poor quality of their equipment. My husband and I will look into ADT and SimpliSafe which seem to be favored highly among our family and friends, given that Vector has been completely unaccommodating of our needs and is only interested in attempting to charge us erroneously.

The changes they implemented have streamlined the processes for upgrading our Fire System bringing us into the New Year with a complete new install.     Vector Security provided security service at our previous residence in South Carolina. We moved 11/17/14. We contacted Vector to advise of the move. Phone service was disconnected, so the alarm service was no longer functioning. I have received confirmation that they have verbal notification of cancellation, January 2015. Realizing that an infrequently used credit card has continued to incur monthly Vector Security charges, we contacted our local Vector branch 2/15/16. No return call. Called again 2/16/16, was told that I would have to speak to a manager 2/17/16, but in the meantime he sent an email with written cancellation instructions. We submitted email cancellation as instructed. Called 2/17/16 and spoke to manager Sherry. She confirmed verbal cancellation 1/15, email cancellation 2/16.

    She confirmed that there has not been any security service provided since 11/14 without corresponding phone service/signal. Sherry insisted that I would need to provide written proof of cancellation from 1/15 in order for her to process any refunds. As cancellation was presumed from over a year ago, we no longer maintain any records from our Vector Security account. If we were advised to send written cancellation, we presumably did. We feel that we have been defrauded 12-months of non-existent security service. If written cancellation was not received by Vector, yet they are aware service was no longer being provided, why did Vector not provide any follow-up communication?

    Although we live in a relatively safe neighborhood, two years ago we decided to look into getting a security system. Unfortunately, we live across the lake from the murder capital of this country, New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to installing Vector Security System in our home, we purchased a 38 cal. handgun. We thought that would be enough to make us feel safe. However, my husband and I, could never sleep through the night with peace of mind. We were always hearing sounds that left us scrambling for our weapon, which in most cases turned out to be false alarms. In one instance though, I returned home alone one night and heard a loud crashing sound coming from the attic and had to call 911. Needless to say, we still had no peace of mind.

    Since we have installed the system, we feel totally secure, in that we know our alarm will sound in the event someone beaches our doors or windows and coming home alone is much less scary now. In short, installing Vector alarm system was the best move we have ever made and have recommended it to all of our family and friends.

    I have had a bad experience with this company. After leaving ADT after years of increasing rates, we decided to go with this company upon purchasing our second home. The first few months were great but I began to notice my alarm would get triggered but we never received a phone call to verify if we were home or that everything was ok. Then I called to request service because the deadbolt/keypad system they installed stopped working, so I couldn't secure my front door. The soonest they stated that they could come out was in two weeks! I am locked into a contract with them and the good part is that I am an active duty service member and I will be moving and will be done with their contract. I will never use this company again and I have recommended other security companies to my neighbors. It may just be the service center I'm connected to in Aiken, SC, but they have ruined it for me.
