    I chose Vector 5 years ago because of a change of lifestyle and a representative came to my door. I agreed to the service and was happy with it. When my contract was up I interviewed several companies before I renewed. Vector gave me the most for the money. The only bump I had with installation was they couldn't install my foot lock because my door hole was too small. I have got that installed but have not got it hooked up to my system yet.

    My elderly father was sold a five year contract with Vector. Shortly afterwards, he developed dementia and had a stroke, and I kept the house for a year and a half. I successfully cancelled all of my father's other service contracts with understanding personnel and with no penalties. It took forever and lots of complicated steps to cancel my father's contract, and we were billed $1556.97 for the remainder of the contract. It seems bad business practice to be so eager to sell such long policies to elderly people, and then, after they are sick and unable to fulfill the contract, and need money for their care, Vector insists on paying out the contract. The service itself was fine, but I will never recommend Vector for a policy which is aimed at pure profit at the expense of older people. I wrote the check after my attempts to explain the situation went unheeded. Pure profit for Vector, taken away from the funds needed for my father's care.

    I installed Vector Security 20 years ago when I moved into this house. I live here with great safety because Vector staff contacts me within a couple of minutes whenever the alarm goes off.     I would like to cancel our security service with you. We have been very disappointed in the service you have provided. We have had a problem with our alarm system for several months and despite numerous calls and attempts to have someone come out and correct the problem, this has not been done. Meanwhile, we receive problem calls on a daily basis! My husband had a service rep come out to see if we could upgrade our system, but we never received an estimate.     I originally chose Vector Security because they offered a very good service for a very reasonable price. I kept Vector Security because my contract was not up yet from my previous house. I would have kept you guys anyway because I like the services/ products that you guys offer. Darren was VERY helpful and knowledgeable with how the system works, options I could choose, and setting it up for everyday practical use. He had no problem adjusting the cameras for me umpteen times so it was JUST right for me. Did a very good job as far as making sure wires were hidden well, cleaned up after himself, really couldn't ask for more.

    Very pleased with the install and would definitely recommend Vector to any and all people who needed a security system. I gave the customer service 4 stars because when I originally scheduled to have the security system put in there was a mix up on Vector's side as to when it was supposed to happen and then when it did happen, it was way later in the day. I will say though, they did still come out and install the system on the day it was scheduled for.

    As we all know, it’s Human nature to be more prone to complain when things go wrong, instead of to compliment when things go right. But today we’re writing to compliment Vector Security. After a quarter-century of use, our old, out-of-date security/fire system finally needed an upgrade. Ours is not a basic residential system at all. Instead, it has many components found only in more complex commercial systems. Yet the end result was extremely good. A new central control panel, keypads, and a few other elements did the trick.

    Vector Security’s fine employees went out of their way to upgrade the old system in a way that preserved all of the original functionality, without having to do any rewiring at all. Now everything works perfectly once again. All of Vector’s employees who were involved in the system upgrade were knowledgeable and personable. They were patient with our many questions. Kudos to them for a job very well done!! Two thumbs up to all involved, and our sincere thanks!!!

    I inherited a 3 year contract on their security system from the former owners of my home. They insisted that I pay all three years to discontinue service after several false alarms had us woken in the middle of the night and we had to shut down the system. The repairman said we needed to buy an upgraded system and could not ensure the false alarms would not continue. Having now paid all three years I am not being allowed to discontinue the contract and am routinely harassed by mail and phone to pay past due bills for a 4th year of service. Awful!

    Overall Vector Security is good. I tried to install my own Security cameras before, but then I really have no time to check my text messages frequently, so it is always good to outsource this to professional company. I got $49.95 package. The only thing is the sales guy told me "I will include this, this & this for you for free", then when I checked my agreement, I ended up with getting only smoke detector for free. Don't tell customer you will give up something for FREE unless they are really free. Those things the sales guy mentioned are part of the $49.95 package. And he told also he will show up during the installation process, but he did not. Don't promise customer anything if you cannot keep the promise. Company is good but sales agent needs to improve.

    Ok so I have Vector at my house in Augusta so I know they are a good company. However, I began the process of installing security in my Pooler home by contacting ADT. After hearing their list of fees and how much they charge for all the equipment, I told them I'd be in touch. Immediately after, I called Vector.     I called Vector to cancel my service, because the price was a bit much. This was my 3rd attempt to canceling. The first 2 times I was told to fax in a letter. I did, however I was told the letters was never received, and because the letter was not in Vector's office it could not be canceled. Whoever took my call was rude and did not care or concerned. They only interest was the bill money and she made me feel like it was her money not Vector's money. I felt threaten and intimidate by that person.

    After a year or two of being uncomfortable with calling Vector and carrying over a balance, I decided to call Vector for the 3rd time to cancel. This time I talked with Ms. Rita ** and Ms. Tiera **. Their customer service was amazing. They both spoke with warmth, understanding and reasonable. I did not feel intimidate nor bullied by either of them. To the point I decide to keep Vector's service and do 2 things I never do. Get into a service contract with a provider. Write a rating for service. Excellent customer service is something we do not get or give all the time anymore and this is one of those time where the services was EXCELLENT!!! Thank you ladies!

    After moving to a new home and already having a security system (ADT) we were approached numerous times by a Vector salesperson. When he told us that he could provide us better service and help us break our contract with ADT, even though we were going to be paying more monthly for Vector Security, we decided to try it out. I am SO upset that we did. He promised us a $200.00 check that would come 2-4weeks after signing our contract–which would help us pay the $500.00 ADT contract breakage fee. Well 3 months of fees for Vector has been taken directly from my bank account. I am left with $0 from Vector and a salesperson named Marc that refuses to answer my husband's calls or texts. Yet, here he is still selling to our neighbors!

    As a military family we move a lot. This was the first home we had built and bought and we wanted the best for it. Unfortunately we messed up. Now we are in debt to ADT $500.00 and I'm paying Vector Security an extra $15.00 a month on top of it, for not any difference in service, except now I have a salesperson that lied to us and won't even answer his phone. As a military family we already have our own struggles, so I guess we will just add this to the list. I am sorry to say we cannot recommend your business to any of our friends and family.

    We called for clarification of the gold level service we pay an extra $25 per billing period. There are no service calls included unless you call to schedule one which includes battery changes. Even with prompts on the system for problems detected they will not service without specific requests. So still unclear what we pay the extra money for. One thing I will say, however, is that we had to call for an issue with Alarm.com and the technical person went out of his way to correct the system over the phone by way of computer. Thank goodness it was during office hours!

    I chose Vector based on the salesperson's brief. I was briefed I would have cameras that recorded, 24 hr service and if the military moved me I could disconnect. I have had problems with the system for 2 years straight. Vector has sent their authorized dealers out to make repairs and shortly after they leave the equipment stops working again. I have tried for an entire month straight to get a manager to contact me behind their services. I cannot get one to call me back.

    I had someone trying to get in my front door with my children home but he left prior to the police arriving. The police wanted to see who it was so I could press charges but the camera system does not record. The only reason I got a camera system is because I was told I could play back times. Finally I found out if the military moves me I have to sell my house to actually disconnect my service. I have AT&T at my other home. I pay a third of the price and have a much more reliable system. I cannot and will not recommend this company or product to anyone that I know or work with.

    I have been a customer of Vector for more than one year. Recently we have to move from Georgia to Florida. However, before we move to our new place we contacted Vector to ask if they have service in our new location. We provide Vector our new address and they told us that our new location was under their service area. A couple week before we moved their representative Billy ** stop by our house and told us that Vector was going to transfer our system to our new location. Also, Billy ** told us that he was going to stop by the following week to drop off the new equipment for our new location.

    We left state and Billy ** never came back to our house, we call him several times and he never answered the phone. We are being calling since August and the information provide is the same since day one. We arrive to our new location and contacted Vector to arrange an installation day and we find out that they do not cover our area. In top of that today I received an invoice from Vector Security charging us $1,900.23 dollars for cancellation. I really don't understand how they want to charge me that amount, since the beginning they told me that they will going to transfer the system to our new location. Second, after we have arrived to our location and contact them to schedule an installation, they come back to us that they do not service the area.

    We've had Vector for over 10 years. The service was good. We signed another agreement with Ackerman to start on 10/24. They'll provide us with new updated equipment @ lower monthly fees. She told me that isn't enough, and that I need to call Customer Support. I called them and left a message for them. Their message says I'll hear from them within the next 24 hours.     Service was adequate for monitoring. Trying to reach someone in Customer Service is difficult. They are rarely ever available to take your call and require you to leave a voice mail and wait for a return call which can take up 24 hours or longer in some cases. That is very frustrating and inefficient for the customer. If I'm taking the time to make a phone call then I need to speak with someone right away. Other I might as well send an e-mail and wait for a reply.

    August 1st, 2011: I was looking for a security service for my home and a sales rep from Vector Security came to my door to offer their services. The sales agent indicated that the equipment was free and that all that was needed from me was to sign a 2 year contract. Through my negligence and Naivete I signed a contract for 5 years instead of 2.

    August 1st, 2013: When I followed up on my contract in two years on what I thought was to be the end of my contract I called the customer care line and reviewed my contract. That is where I saw my mistake and that the contract was for 60 months. Being upset with myself and at the sales rep that misrepresented the contract, I took this issue as a costly learning opportunity on my part and paid out the rest of my contract over the next 3 years.

    I wrote a letter to Vector security expressing my disappointment with their sales practices and that I realized my mistake. I also indicated that I was not complaining of the core services but that my experience with them was tainted and client retention (me & others) will be difficult to maintain. I received a letter back from Vector indicating that I owed the balance of my contract. My original letter never indicated that I would not pay the balance of the contract, it stated the frustration and disappointment of Vector Security Sales practices.

    Friday, September 16, 2016: I called Vector Security to cancel my service for Vector Security. I was instructed by the customer care representative to send a cancellation letter with the following information: date to cancel, account #, address for service, and account Password. I mailed the cancellation letter by certified mail on the afternoon of Friday September 16, 2016 through the US postal service. The letter was received on Monday, September 19, 2016 @ 1:34 pm.

    Monday, October 3rd, 2016 10:15 am: I called to verify my account was closed and the customer care person indicated that it was still active and could take up to 30 days to process after the cancellation department received my letter. I told the customer care person that nothing in the contract indicated that it could take 30 days to process. I verified the address with the customer care person. The customer care person left out part of the address, suite 200. I verified with her that I should have included suite 200 on the address and she confirmed, "yes".

    I gave the customer care person my email address & phone number; the customer care person indicated she would email the cancellation department to verify the status of my request. I asked the customer care person if she could carbon copy me on the email and she indicated that she was not sure if that was permissible. I did verify that she would let me know the status of my account by the close of business that day and she said "yes". I did not receive a communication that day or the next.

    Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 4:39 pm: Spoke with Cathy. She indicated that the person who handled my cancellation was out of the office and my request would be finish it up when they returned. Cathy indicated that my cancellation request was in process and I should get a final bill in the mail by next week. Monday, October 17th, 2016: I received the Final balance due bill of $497.50 for services through August 1st 2017. My contract was for only 60 months which started on August 2011 and would have ended 60 months later on July 2016.

    Tuesday, October 18, 2016: Spoke with Cathy a customer care representative. She indicated that since I didnt turn in my cancellation notice in time that my contract reviewed for one year. I looked at the contract and there was a line that I never noticed before that did indicate that cancellation of service needed to be sent via mail 30 days prior to my contract end date.

    Bottom line, I was naive and fell for the deceptive sales practices of Vector Security. However my naivete does not negate the validity of the contract I signed. I wish I would have vetted and researched Vector Security more thoroughly and I wished I would have read the contract carefully. Also, the cancellation process is very cumbersome and makes it challenging to cancel. I suspect the cancellation process is intentionally difficult to close. My hope is that others will learn from my experience with Vector Security and that this post will get some views. Buyer beware.

Was very frustrated that I had to sign another three year contract when I only had one year left on my other contract if I wanted to not have to pay for both taking out old equipment and installing at the new house.     My mother is elderly and lives alone, so she followed the advice of friends and had a security system installed. In the space of three months the system malfunctioned twice, the second event resulting in the police being summoned to her house. She was so rattled that she couldn't remember the code to turn it off, and even after the police arrived and contacted Vector, there was apparently no way to turn the alarm off. Eventually I was able to silence the alarm and disconnected it completely.

    Granted, Vector offered to send a technician out to fix whatever caused the malfunction, but the first time there was a malfunction, the earliest they could send a technician out was three days later. We therefore declined that offer, as my mother no longer wished to have the system at all. Even if we had gotten the system "fixed," there was no guarantee it wouldn't malfunction again (and again), as had happened previously.

    Fortunately, since she paid an annual fee to the police department for registration of the system, there was no charge for the "false alarm" call (had she not registered the system, she would have been charged $200 for the "false alarm" call). But even with a "registered" system after the second such call, the police department would start to assess a fine, the size of which increases with each additional false alarm. Naturally, even if the false alarm was due to a malfunction of Vector's equipment, Vector would not assume responsibility for paying such fines had they been assessed.

    All my mother wanted at this point was to discontinue the service and be allowed out of her contract, since from her point of view Vector had not held up its end of the contract by failing to provide a reliable system. Even the responding police officer felt she should be allowed out of the contract based on health concerns for my mother (when the police first arrived she was so distraught. They feared she might have a heart attack).

    Apparently the officer contacted Vector and expressed this opinion, but it did not have any effect, as my mother recently received a bill for close to $450 to effectively "buy out" the rest of her contract with Vector. Although this might be less expensive than paying fines caused by repeated false alarms due to a faulty system, it still seems like she should not have to pay $450 for a system she's not using because it didn't function properly and caused her much emotional distress. You should certainly consider the possibility of a similar situation happening to you or a loved one before signing a contract with Vector.

    I had relocated to VA from OH. I had Vector in OH and was happy with the service and the equipment. When I moved, I had the option to transfer my contract to the new owner, pay off the contract, or get a new contract in VA with the same equipment. Long story short, when I decided to get Vector again in VA, there was an issue with giving me the same package I had in Ohio for $0 installation since I had purchased additional items (i.e. glass break, fire alarm, etc). I had been told in Ohio that I could get the same package with $0 installation fee. This wasn't suppose to be the case. I was allowed a basic package for $0, but anything more I would have to pay for. I explained to Vector in VA that I was told in Ohio I could get the same equipment in VA for $0 installation. Vector investigated and ultimately honored what I was told, though it shouldn't have been the case.

    I really appreciate Vector taking care of this and giving me the same package (upgrades included) that I had in Ohio. I was a happy customer in Ohio, and I'm an even happier customer in VA now. I appreciate Mary (sales rep) working with me and looking into the matter promptly so that I could get service in my new home. When installation day came, the installer was able to work with my schedule. Though they don't work on Sundays, the installer worked with me and came on Sunday.     I need to start at the beginning: my house burnt down on 5/17/15. So, I've been rebuilding since that time. Vector took over the HOA agreement with a security company. So, I had your company prewire my house. I called your Dallas office and arranged to have the final installation of the system for September 12th. No ONE showed up. On 9/13, 9/14, 9/15, 9/16, and 9/17, No ONE showed up or called me. I called on 9/19 and was told they would come on the 20th. They did arrive on the 20th: installed the system and did not place a control pad at the back door. Before, I had three control pads, but I found out that I have to pay for the 3rd. However, the prewire was for 3 control pads.

    I have a rear entry driveway into my garages so I have to have a control pad by the back door. However, they installed a control pad by the front door, I don't use that door for going in and out of the house 90% of the time. Therefore, YOUR company charged me $207.57 to place a control pad WHERE it should have been in the first place. So, I have a control pad where it is not needed and I had to pay for a control pad in the place where it is needed most. Your customer service is horrible and your communication with your customers is horrible.
