I had a number of furniture painting projects including tables, chairs, dressers and small pieces. Each were different; some prepainted in a different color, some varnished, some raw wood, etc. I didn't want to do a lot of sanding but I wanted the paint to stay on. I chose a gallon of Valspar furniture and cabinet paint in Honey Milk. I have been very happy with the coverage (none was one coat) and texture of the paint. I'm going back for another gallon in another shade of white for further projects to furnish our vacation home.

My first purchase of Valspar paint was for my retaining wall. That was 10 years ago and since then the paint has remained unfaded unchipped, and unweathered. It is a thicker paint and does require more paint for coverage than a thinner paint, but it holds and lasts longer than a thinner paint and it does not have a strong paint smell.

Terrific paint and holds up well to wiping and such. I also like that, if you you are unhappy with the color you have chosen, you can go back to Lowes and get a new gallon for free. I have used over 60 gallons of this stuff to paint our home and wouldn't go with anything else. Great product.

It goes on smooth and it covers very nicely. The paint dries quickly. It looks beautiful! Rarely do I need to apply a second coat. The paint lasts long. If there is a smidge of dirt from children's fingers, it cleans easily. The colors are endless.

I really loved VCalspar paint. Would have given a 5 until they made ALL their paints with primer. I prefer paint without primer and it goes on easier and I used the same amount or less of the paint when I put 2 coats on. The paint with primer is thicker (I expect that) but does NOT go on easier or with less streaks. There is NO WAY that I can get away with 1 coat of paint - even when I would buy the more expensive (one coat only) paint. Primer paint is more expensive, covers less area, and you still need 2 coats on your wall - thus bringing your painting costs significantly up. Valspar is still better than Behr though in my opinion.

We’ve always purchased Valspar and never had any issues until the last two times we’ve used this paint. In May 2019 we painted our master bath. The walls now look like crackle paint was applied and long streaks in several areas gives the appearance of dried water stains running down wall, and the condition continues to deteriorate. This has never been an issue previously. In January of 2020, we had our downstairs living area painted as part of a reconstruction insurance claim. We chose eggshell which what we always use.
I had several areas where rub marks were left from the construction crew moving things back in place. Everywhere I tried to wipe is lightened and streaked. We recently had a contractor in to drywall and paint. I mentioned these issues and was informed he has worked with other local customers to repaint walls after Valspar allegedly admitted to selling paint to the local hardware store that they knew was inferior quality. Attempted to email Valspar but no return contact other than auto-reply that message was received.

I experienced negative results with this product in the past (Valspar Signature Satin Interior Latex), but thought I'd give it another shot. I applied a compatible primer to molding and small cabinet doors. I applied the primer in the AM and waited 24 hours before painting. It was thoroughly dry. I applied the paint and allowed it to dry overnight before attempting applying a second coat. I noticed the paint was still very tacky after 8 hours in temperatures in the mid to high 80's. This is why I waited until the following day to give it a second coat. Unfortunately, it was still tacky and even tacky the day after that.
The specs say it dries to touch in one hour and dry to recoat in 120 minutes. The product I bought didn't live up to those claims. Not even close! Being a professional in the paint & coatings manufacturing industry for 40 years, I can say this is not typical of latex paints. I had recently used another brand to paint my walls and base boards and should have just stayed with that. I'm kicking myself for wasting money and time. I eventually had to sand off the paint and do it all over with a brand that works.

I used this paint, Gloss White, on the Hardie Board exterior siding I have on my home. I first prep'ed the surface by washing the wall with "Tide w/ bleach". I sealed the roofline and side edges with DAP Alex Plus 40 year caulk. Then I painted the wall with Kiltz water base white primer to give the Valspar oil base Enamel paint good adhesion. The Valspar enamel was a little "thick" straight out of the gallon can. I poured about a "pint" of paint out of the gallon can into one of those plastic paint mixing buckets they sell in the paint section.
Added a "splash" of mineral spirits to the pint and mixed it with a 4 in brush I used to apply the enamel paint. The mineral spirits thinned the enamel paint and made it easy to spread good coverage. There was a lot of little drips, no problem as long as you brush them off right away. One coat of paint was all I needed. One gallon covered half of my exterior walls. I now have a beautiful white exterior that looks like it has a clear coat of paint over it. Glows in the moonlight. Repeals moister and rainwater. The can said 7 days for paint to full cure. Slow cure equals longevity. I painted in June in DFW Texas outside Temp was in the 90's.

Prior to painting, I thoroughly sanded the piece so the paint would adhere. I used a sponge brush to avoid brush strokes. The paint went on well and the color is exactly what I wanted. The problem is, after 4 days, the paint remains very tacky. It would definitely attract and hold dust and so is unacceptable. I contacted Valspar customer service who said the initial cure requires 5 days and can take up to 45 days to cure. I will give it a few more days then will be asking for a refund. I consider it a waste of $30.

We bought 6 gallons of Valspar Signature semi gloss paint from Lowe’s. We pulled down trim, missed, and textured walls. I read these reviews and almost had a heart attack but the reviews couldn't be more off base. We chose Juniper Breeze and it only needed one coat. The kitchen and living area were done in Coconut milk and it barely needed a second coat. My husband is now taking the tape off of the walls and it is beautiful!! I don’t know if the others maybe didn’t prep correctly, or if they didn’t cut the tape before pulling it off (which would pull the paint off). We will continue to use Valspar for the rest of our home.

Years ago I used this paint and it did not cover with 4 coats! Then up on cleaning my brushes and tools, many pigments in the paint already dried and will dry in the brush before you even put it on the surface you are trying to paint! These dried up pigments in the brush can not be washed out with water or nothing so you can reuse the brush soon after. The brush has to completely dry, then you have to keep slapping the brush to get them to fall out of the brush you use in the paint. I am doing a small job now that the customer bought this same paint that I had for years because of this reason, stayed away from. Still after many years this product is complete junk! It has cost me so far this job $75 worth of good brushes! Stay away from this product! It should banned from being made and sold!

I really wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this product. I assumed that since it was the primary brand sold by Lowe’s and it had a very high price tag, it should be good stuff. I bought one gallon of the Signature paint to start covering the new walls in our recently renovated basement following flooding this fall. Upon completion of the largest wall, it looked terrible, very blotchy with uneven covering. I went back to the store and shared my disappointment with them. It was suggested that I move up one level to the Sherwin Williams Showcase paint and was given a “deal” since I needed two more gallons. Unfortunately, the results were the same, even with an extra coat of primer. In all my years of painting, I have never had such bad luck. My hope right now is simply that when we have everything back in the room, it won’t be so noticeable. I could not afford and do not have the time to start over. I will not ever use this paint again.

I cannot believe how much I hate this finish. Unfortunately, you don’t realize your mistake until it is too late. I applied the first coat, as instructed. 80% of my kitchen, including 14’ vaulted ceilings were covered. The coverage was very poor and I knew right away this was going to take more than 2 coats. I disliked the distribution of the sand texture. It was either very thin, or bunched all up. After that coat dried enough to touch, I was NOT happy. It feels like 60 grit sandpaper! I thought maybe a second coat would even it out and make the texture more tolerable. Nope. Still sandpaper. The thought of sanding all of this off was pretty daunting. So, I used a product requiring troweling over the top. It would not cover it. The grit to this is very substantial.
So, I am now climbing all over my kitchen with a sander attached to a vacuum. It is dangerous and I am furious. I will now need to trowel on two coats of texture, prime, and paint. I will be climbing this ladder and stretching all over 6 or 7 times before I have a nice paint job. Awful. Just AWFUL. It’s more than the overpriced paint. Valspar, you should come hire a professional painter to fix this mess. Shame on you for putting this garbage on the market. Lowes, dump this brand! Where do you think I went for more paint and all that goes with this project? Home Depot. I will not trust your choice of brands again.

We recently had our bathroom redone and bought Valspar ceiling paint at the recommendation of Lowes Home Improvement Center. Within a few weeks of the contractor sanding the ceiling and applying a primer, and two coats of Valspar paint, the paint was peeling off of the ceiling. Although the product failed, the Product Support Department reimbursed us for the cost of labor as well as the cost of the paint. I am disappointed in their product, but they showed me integrity by paying me back 100%. I deducted one star because it did take over 60 days to get the money after the online claim was filed. In addition, I had to reject their initial offer to reimburse for the paint only. With that said, they made the proper restitution and I give them credit for fixing their problem.

I bought the Valspar paint for difficult surfaces to paint a wooden mirror frame. It was expensive paint so I thought it would cover in a couple of coats, but it didn’t. It took 5 coats and still would not cover properly. B&Q should not sell this product as it does not work. I think the product should be removed from sale until it is reviewed and improved. I feel cheated and wish I could start again with an ordinary primer and undercoat. It just scrapes off even if gently sanded.

If you were thinking of buying Valspar paint from B&Q, don't. Just don't. If I could give it zero stars, I would. We have spent over £300 on one specific paint (it was a particular colour that we specifically wanted, and we paid for the premium top quality mix) and it is the most awful, shoddy, not fit for purpose paint that we have ever come across. It pitches itself as High Performance, premium quality paint when in reality It doesn't even perform as well as cheap white emulsion, and that makes us very unhappy. We paid extra to have the supposedly durable, Hard-wearing, wipable formula of Valspar paint that is suitable for all types of surfaces and with a soft sheen finish... Well I can tell you that all it's suitable for is flushing down the loo.
Initially, once the paint is on and freshly dried, it looks lovely. But that's a real false sense of security it's giving you. On metal surfaces, that have been fully primed with decent metal surface primer, the Valspar paint lets rust through within weeks of application. If you so much as breathe on a surface you have painted with this paint, it flakes and chips off. If you try and wipe this paint clean, as its claims suggest is possible, you will just wipe the paint straight off the wall. It's an abdominal product and a complete waste of money and time. I only wish we weren't already so committed to the colour as we cannot find a match in any other range and therefore are trapped into finishing up with this or paying out another shed load of cash to redecorate in another colour.

I’d have preferred no stars, but had to give something. Had several rooms decorated using Valspar, over a period of a few months from around December 2018 to Feb 2019. One room, painted using white cliffs, mixed & brought from B&Q Welwyn Garden City in December 2018, started to develop the cats wee smell a few months ago. Just one room.. It’s worse when I have the back doors open. I have spoken to Valspar who were unhelpful. Again Levy (mentioned before) basically said he was the most senior & there was nothing wrong with the paint. I therefore contacted B&Q, as I brought the paint from them. Equally unhelpful, I have now written to them formally citing the CCA act, they have said I should just go back to Valspar. This was after several bouts of correspondence, they have even blamed me, for not using Valspar primer.
I have never experienced this awful smell previously, despite decorating the same walls, several times over the years, I’m convinced that this particular can is faulty as none of the other rooms smell, despite being painted with different colours of Valspar & all being prepped the same way. I have been offered the cost of a can of paint, however I have refused this, as I believe they should cover the cost of getting rid of the smell caused by their faulty paint. I am continuing to pursue the matter.

Valspar US is not admitting that they're still selling cans of paint with the strong cat urine smell problem. We bought the 2000 paint for two large rooms in our home and hired professional painters to make sure it was properly applied. The painters who did a couple other rooms in our home with different paint were suddenly complaining about the Valspar 2000. The supervisor brought me to the rooms and showed me how watery and little coverage one gallon of the paint was getting, even with our original walls being eggshell white. He said if we let him use his usual Sherwin Williams, it would have taken 2 gallons to coat the space in 1 coat or 4 gallons for 2 coats. He ended up needing to buy 5-6 gallons of Valspar to get rid of the streaks it was leaving. We're mortified we made them use Valspar because we trusted the brand.
But that's no big deal compared to the cat urine smell that makes the rooms impossible to be in if it's hot and sunny outside. It's been 4 weeks since the paint job and if it's hot outside, you get hit with a wall of what smells like stale cat pee when you go into the rooms. I told Valspar no one else has lived in this house and we've never had any pets, children, or smokers that may have been responsible for the smell. It's no coincidence it suddenly appeared after we had the room painted. Blasting the AC doesn't help. Valspar said to just open the windows and that the paint is still drying. (4 weeks later??) However the smell seems to get more intense with open windows. We think maybe the trim paint (also Valspar 2000) might be emitting the smell and it gets blown in with them open.
When I mentioned that it's strange the smell gets faint on cool days but gets unbearable once heat and humidity increases, they say that's normal since the paint has VOCs and that's what we're smelling. Sounds like another lie from the PR dept since VOCs apparently are supposed to smell like fresh paint, not pure ammonia. The smell is NOTHING like latex or drying paint. After trying to find what the issue is online, I found that Valspar had to compensate a ton of people in the UK for having the same exact problem. They are not willing to admit the same problem apparently exists with their US-distributed paint.
After spending an afternoon emailing a customer service rep whose responses made it sound like he wasn't reading my emails, the only resolution offered is that they would refund the money we spent on the 2000 and pay for new paint but would not issue the refund until I sent receipts of the new paint purchased. Several people in these Consumer Affairs reviews mentioned they had difficulty getting Valspar to refund anything after remedial work was done so we're not falling for that trap. They also refuse to pay for the roughly $800 we'll need to spend for the painter to come out to seal and repaint the rooms all over again.

Then the floor started to peel where the car sits, now it is peeling in other spots. There are large brown stains that won't come up.
