To complete my facia board replacement project, I planned to finish it with Valspar Duramax semi-gloss exterior paint. I painted about $200.00 in new wood in advance of installation. After several days, the paint never completely dried, and to date still remains tacky. The weather has been sunny, low humidity, and in the high 70s. I don't know whether to go ahead and put the boards up or continue to wait. I am very dissatisfied with Valspar, which I am told was bought by Sherwin Williams. I also learned that mine is not an isolated incident with this paint. I will NOT buy any more Valspar paint and WILL discourage others from buying this product!

WARNING! WARNING! DO NOT BUY! I own a high end remodeling company out of New York, we paint a lot! I would not use this brand paint even on my worst enemy's home.... I know what you're thinking, save money by purchasing this gallon for $25 VS Behr for $65. Just don't do it. You'll end up spending WAY more than $65 as a result and the most precious asset of all- TIME. This paint is watered down, drippy, doesn't dry, doesn't cover, streaks, looks like absolute TRASH. Go buy Behr or anything else but this!

Purchased Valspar Door and Trim indoor/outdoor to do my outside window with wood frames. It doesn't cover as nice as cheaper brands. The label states "Swift Dry Ready in 2 Hours"..Uh, NO!! I painted one huge window Trim. I left the window open for at least 5 hours. A week later I noticed a spot close to the bottom sill I missed. Went to open the window in order to reach it and not paint it shut, guess what?, the window wouldn't open... So the paint, after 5 hours was not dry nor was it "ready in 2 hours!". I scraped and wire brushed all the old paint off beforehand, now a week later this paint looks as though it's breaking apart in stripes. This isn't my first rodeo, I've painted for years.. No more Valspar for me!!

Sadly I got cheap and picked up a gallon of Valspar paint for my 1/2 bath project. Well what was a cheap idea turned into being more expensive because I now have to repaint this bathroom. It looks like a disaster, streaking and horrible coverage even after 2 coats.

Several days after painting my 1000 sq ft basement with Valspar concrete paint. I made sure it had dried for over 48 hours I did my first test walk. I quickly found out the paint scraps off easily with any kind of movement on it.

I recently tried Valspar paint, enticed by its promise of one-coat coverage. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. Despite three coats, the finish was uneven with noticeable streaks, making the guarantee of a single coat seem like a distant dream.

Bought flat Grow interior paint, Valspar Signature. Had to do 3+ coats and walls still look streaked. Also when it dries it leaves tiny holes in the paint where the original color shows through (slightly darker color). Touch up took as long as painting. Very disappointed in the quality. We are painting the interior of our home and now will be changing paint color and brand.

Valspar Paint, Fence and Deck; is a lower grade product. The paint sold within Lowe's is very expensive and touts a 10 year deck and 25 year fence warranty. However, if the paint fails in any mannerism, be prepared to do a significant amount of hoop jumping. The staff of Lowe's seems to want the customer to go through a lot of 'provide receipts, provide the product, provide pictures, provide a sample of the defective paint, provide a date when the paint was applied, provide a time when the paint was applied; a lot of nonsense hoping the customer will eventually go away.
The staff of Valspar is very arrogant and leads the customer into a further hoop jumping exercise; all meant to discourage the customer from filing or asking for a warranty replacement. The bottom line is; go elsewhere, AVOID LOWES and AVOID VALSPAR.. buy anywhere else and anything else.. just don't buy from this rip-off company or use their rip-off products.

I used one gallon Valspar Latex Satin Interior + Exterior Porch, Floor & Patio Wood & Concrete paint purchase from Lowe's. It was very very disappointing, after preparing the front porch concrete. The paint went on very easily and covered well. I used the whole gallon because it required a whole gallon to cover the entire area. After about 4 days I noticed it began to peel and scuff up. So I went to Lowe's to see if they would warranty the paint issue. I spoke to the Manager of Lowe's and she said since I used the whole gallon Lowe's wouldn’t do anything. She said file a complaint with Valspar. "Well I had to use the whole gallon to cover my porch", I told her. She said she wouldn’t do anything for me and more or less get lost. So I left and decided to just lose $34.18. Good Bye Valspar!

Stick with the Duramax lineup of Valspar paint. I’ve painted my three homes I owned as well as my children’s homes. My grandfather was a professional painter and wallpaper hanger owning his own business. He taught me how to paint using the best paint and brushes. Tapping of edges to paint was for sissies. He taught me to flow the paint into edges. With Defense paint it is impossible. Had to tape off everything for the first time to paint and I’m in my 60’s. Paint does not flow off the brush and streaks when you paint. Had to push paint into corners and details on my paneled doors and shutters. This paint is a loser. Stay with the Duramax lineup. Had to give three coats of paint on all surfaces and still not satisfied with the results! Contacted Valspar customer service and got email response telling me everything I’m doing wrong with the paint. Ok; whatever you say!

Applied 4-coats - 1-full gallon - of Valspar's perfect white semi-gloss paint over a primed 8x10 kitchen wall using a Wooster pro 3/8 shed-resistant woven smooth finish roller head over a four day period. First coat looked like crap after drying - absolutely no uniformity - so I lightly sanded the entire wall and applied coat #2... Which also looked like crap after drying. And so on, and so on!
After a final re-sanding and 4-days of wasted time - not to mention my out of pocket expense for said crappy valspar paint - I then applied one coat of Behr's ultra scuff defense using same equipment and the wall now looks like I would have expected it to have looked after a single coat of valspar's so-called 'perfect white"... Never again. BTW the way, for your information, as an investor and broker in residential real estate, I've personally painted well over 200 properties over the past sixty years. I know how to prepare and paint a wall... Period! I now also know that I will never consider valspar's product line again, as well as, spread the word.

We decided to try Valspar after seeing an ad for it. Bought it at Lowe's and painted the bathroom in what was supposed to be one coat. One coat does not cover. The smell is horrible. It has been 7 days and even with the exhaust fan on and the door closed, the smell is still there and lingers into the other room if the fan is turned off. We purchased a gallon thinking we could do 2 of our bathrooms but not an option since there is not enough left, Thank God! We bought Benjamin Moore to do our son's room which is much bigger than the bathroom and it only used 3/4 of a gallon. One coat went on smooth unlike the Valspar. The fumes were nothing like Valspar and was gone in 2 days. So glad I did the guest bath first because the fumes would not be bearable in the morning in our master bathroom. I just hope the smell goes away soon. Do not buy this paint.

I have been a painter for over 40 years, and have used several brands. Recently purchased Valspar at Lowe's. Big mistake- Inferior product at best. Bought 1 gallon semi gloss @ 40 + dollars to paint a bathroom --2 walls @ 8x8. 4 coats and still not covering dark paint that was on the wall!! Gliddon or Sherwin Williams from now on! Never never never Valspar again!!!

I think that Valspar is one of my number one paint companies in the world. I like it because I don't have to put a lot of primer on my wall for me to get a great painting job. I think that it is really important and it covers a lot of spots that some other Brands won't cover.

The paint covers well. The colors are endless. The price isn’t that bad and check the mismatched paint, a real deal. If you're not satisfied then it’s refundable. It comes flat, semi satin glossy, eggshell, what could be better and it’s sold at all Lowe's.

Overall a good covering paint that does the same coverage as more expensive brands. Many coats are not needed to effectively cover....and most of the time one coat nails it. I always try to find this brand 1st!

Great color choices and coverage. Staff at Lowe's is very knowledgeable about brand, and can help you with choosing finish. You are able to mix a variety of colors to get the perfect color you are looking for. Recommend this brand for all your painting needs.

I've always used Valspar paints. They are a great paint as far as application. They are a true 1 coat paint. Bright colors are very radiant. Being a former Lowe's employee in the paint department I have a lot of experience with this brand of paint. I don't think that I ever received negative feed back from a customer.

Would like paint to be thicker it. It was a little runny and splattered a lot when using a roller. There are lots of colors to choose from. Mid range price. If painting again outside I would recommend the higher priced paint option....5 to 7 years.

Valspar Signature was a great paint for me. I bought it to paint one main wall and an accent wall in my kitchen and it turned out beautifully. The coverage was just right and the finish is perfect. Plus the color is to die for! Green Goddess! Look it up! Highly recommend.

Used Valspar to paint my 65' sailing yacht and it did a good job. It didn't blister. Also it didn't fade in color. The paint lasted longer than other brands of paint. Overall I think that it did a wonderful job. I would give it a score of 4 out of 5. I would recommend Valspar paint to everyone.

Very simply the paint goes on smoothly, covers completely in one coat, dries quickly. What else could you ask for. When you wake up the next morning you see no streaking, a professional job from a neophyte.

I think think paint could be a little bit cheaper. I mean yes we paint in this world because we need to otherwise we may just have metal looking walls or drywall walls that are just plain and everything would look the same so we have to paint to make things different but it’s not like we’re painting because we just plain enjoy it. Yes some people do find it relaxing but mostly the reason we’re paying is because we have to.

This paint goes on very easily and clean up is easy. It gives a very nice coating and has an excellent finish. The color variations are great, making it easy to get whatever color you are looking to paint. Quite a few times only took one coat and even on difficult walls never needed more than 2 coats. Very good product.

This is a great brand, it will better if they have more choices in paint color like Glidden Earth Brown. I bought one of the colors for my siding and it is was really easy to apply. I think it was called Prairie Dance. I recommend the paint.

My favorite brand is Valspar. I like it because it covers well, usually with one coat unless it’s a bright hard to cover color. In that case it may take two coats. It goes on smoothly without very little dripping. I can get a professional look and do it myself. Indoor and outdoor paints are both top quality with valspar.

I have always turned to the Valspar brand for my painting projects. Not only is it durable high-quality paint, it is low emission of harmful chemicals. My local hardware store has, unfortunately, quit carrying Valspar, however, so I may have to try some other brands.
