I purchased the Troy-Bilt Storm 2410 snowblower in 2020, and unfortunately, it has been nothing but a source of frustration and recurring expenses ever since. Over the past five years, I have had to replace the carburetor every single year. Despite meticulous care and maintenance, this machine has consistently failed to meet expectations. Here’s a detailed account of my maintenance routine to highlight how well I’ve treated this equipment:

    • The snowblower is stored in a heated garage, away from dust, debris, or temperature extremes.
    • It remains covered with a tarp year-round to further protect it from any potential exposure to dirt or moisture.
    • I exclusively use ethanol-free, small-engine gas to avoid issues with fuel quality.

    • At the end of each winter season, I run the gas tank completely dry to ensure no fuel is left sitting inside over the summer months.

Despite following these best practices, the carburetor fails every year, requiring replacement. I only use the snowblower four to five times a season, yet I’ve had to spend an additional $150 annually on a new carburetor. This does not include the added hassle and expense of transporting the machine to a repair shop. Considering the amount of money spent on this snowblower, both upfront and in ongoing repairs, I can confidently say this is not a product I would recommend. The recurring issues with the carburetor and the overall lack of reliability make this snowblower a poor investment.

If you’re in the market for a snowblower, I strongly urge you to avoid Troy-Bilt models. Save yourself the time, money, and aggravation by thoroughly researching more reliable brands and models. There are far better options available that will save you from the repeated headaches I’ve endured. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Troy-Bilt snowblowers.

Storm 3090 30” 2 Stage Snow Blower. Bought 2 years ago, needs the worm gear replaced on the auger transmission! I’ve not hit any ice, all heavy wet snow but mostly light dry snow. Went to use it the other day and nothing! Checked and it took a couple tries to find out the augers weren’t spinning. After some research, I figured out the worm gear was stripped and apparently this is common. They are not built to last. Last MTD product to cross my property line!! Highly doubt there is warranty on it.

My review begins with the weed trimmer lasting less than a month before a large cloud of smoke is emitted and it completely stops working. I call Troy-Bilt warranty. They give me options on where to take it and issue a case number. 3 of the 5 places no longer conduct warranty work for Troy-bilt. The place I took it tells me that they get an average of 1 or 2 a week in for repair and that they are poorly made and do NOT sell them in their store but are obligated to take them because they are part of a company whose products they do sell Cub Cadet. They take a look, and call me back stating that there was a bearing failure and there is metal in the crankcase and cannot be cost effectively repaired, and issue a work order to process my warranty.

I finally speak to the warranty dept. on the phone after being on hold for 1 hour and 37 minutes, they give me an email address and tell me to send in the paperwork issued by the authorized warranty center, which I did on July 29th so after a few day I reach out by email asking how it was going with the processing, no reply for 3 days then I reach out again and receive an answer that says "we are still waiting for the serial number it is not on the work order" so I take a picture of the label on the machine with all the numbers including the S/N and send it.

I heard nothing for 2 weeks, so I reached out again by email, no response 3 times over several weeks. So I called them, Robert answered on 3rd ring, I asked him the status of the processing, he then put me on hold for 14 minutes then came back and said that I never sent him the serial number, I told him I did and on what date I sent the email, he argued that I was talking over him. So not to waste time arguing with him, I resent an email and spelled out the S/N to him and included the original picture he claimed I never sent and case my #. We are 40 days into this. I will update when this has been completed or has gone to far for a simple warranty refund process. All in all I would NOT recommend this product to anyone, failures in products happen but to get reimbursed is far to cumbersome of a process with these people.

I ordered Chains for my chainsaw and I did regret that purchased this brand because I was forced to order parts online and they are expensive UNLIKE other brands where you can find in Home Depot and Menards. Let me just start with, I was so excited to acquire my brand new lawn mower tractor for my brand new home. Delivery was made on timely manner. Driver did mentioned that some parts were underneath the tractor. No help to unpack test or make sure everything was there. I had to find out after an hour of unpacking that the seat, keys wheel and I don't know if any other parts that should be included was missing.

I tried to contact support, they don't work weekends. I called first thing today. I honestly was expecting empathy or maybe an apology, but instead (Britney) first agent said that is normal they send partial order. I ask if they had any type of remedy or solution to offer. Nothing was offered. I asked to talk to a manager, just to find out they need 24 to 48 hour to reply back. Only at that point I realized the customer service offered was not at the standards of the prices. I immediately requested the cancellation and have them pick up of the half of tractor that was delivered to my home. Case # **.

Minutes later just to clarify and make sure I didn't miss anything and ask if there was going to be an out of pocket expense for the return. I contacted a virtual agent (Violet). She said no cost out of pocket. This was another opportunity to offer a sincere apology. Nothing happened. Instead (Violet) said ** "They are coming to pickup the tractor either today or tomorrow, according to the notes from your last interaction. I think it would be best to just let the return take place." Case **. That right there said a lot about the culture behind the product. I would never recommend this brand to anyone.

I'm just going to go buy a Stihl 91. With what I've spent on parts repairs for just the pull starter and oil sight I'll save money. Not worth the repairs. Parts don't last a week.

The first time we used it, it started up okay, started to smoke and then shut off. It took 6 pulls to start and then stalled again. So after being on hold for an hour, I was told I could not get a refund. They repair not refund. So I had to bring it an authorized dealer. The shop looked at it ran it for a while and said it was fine, we tried again to mow the lawn. This time it starting to spout out black smoke. I sent a video to the shop and they said bring it in. Well they said the gasket was blown.

At this point I just want my money back as Troy-Bilt customer service is so time consuming and frustrating. THEY DO NOT ISSUE REFUNDS. I have called on several occasions and they won't even consider it. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. AND THERE IS NO DIRECT PHONE NUMBER OR PHONE OPTION WHERE YOU CAN SPEAK TO SOMEONE ABOUT A RETURN.

After giving up trying to call them, I waited 25 minutes for a live chat session. I wanted to cancel an order for a lawnmower part because I ordered it on Thursday and it still had not shipped out by Monday afternoon. The customer service person that I was chatting with told me the order could not be canceled because it was “already prepared for shipping “ and would ship out Monday evening.

I then asked if the company would pay for expedited shipping since there was such a long delay and I needed this part. He told me that he could not change the shipping instructions once the order is “prepared to ship.” The Customer service rep was lying because the order did not ship out until two days later!! I could have just purchased a generic part at Home Depot a week before, but I was hoping that the OEM Part might be better quality. In addition, the lawnmower mulching ability is mediocre at best. I will never purchase a Troybilt product again.

Based on the severity of the bend of hard steel and way it was packed, it had to have gone in the box that way. They transferred me to a 45-minute hold to get a claim number and a local dealer to get it fixed. The local dealer said he hates dealing with Troy Bilt because they are slow to pay, reimburse low and don't ever pick up the phone. They took it only because they knew me. Also informed that this snow blower has a carburetor that will start leaking once the temperature gets cold and TROY BILT WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY.

Cost just over $400.00 to repair a brand new snow blower because of Troy Bilt selling a product known to be defective. Advice I was given was to not put much gas into the tank at each use, repeat if necessary during use and then drain the tank after use. (Has no drain valve in tank). I have no complaints regarding the lawn mower that was purchased many, many years ago. In fact, the motor is still running like a top! The issue was with the deck...it rusted through. Given the age of the machine, this can be expected, but I hated the thought of getting rid of it, so I attempted to purchase a replacement deck. Went online, found the correct option, paid for it...easy peasy! I received an order confirmation email, stating that I would be notified when it shipped. After a prolonged wait, I tried several times to contact Troy-Bilt customer service. WHAT A FREAKIN' JOKE. The auto-attendant was useless, repeatedly routing to wrong department.

When I did get through to a real person, I was put on hold for at least 10-12 minutes, then the call mysteriously dropped, forcing me to go through this process again. It took three such attempts before the representative stated that the part I order was on backorder, with no projected ship date available. I asked the representative to just cancel my order and refund my card. I was told that she would have to put me on hold. UGH! After being on hold another 12 minutes (I timed it this time), I was again disconnected. So I had to repeat this process, yet again!

After multiple transfers and being placed on hold, I was informed that this was considered a Level II service request and that I would have to call an entirely different number...DOUBLE UGH! I called the super-secret Level II support line, but was immediately put on hold. After 14 minutes, the representative answered. I explained the situation. I did cancel my order (I stayed on the phone until I received email confirmation). OK, I thought that would be the end of the matter...but NOOOO! So far this year, pull string broke then noticed screw was loose and coil was unraveling. Now I think the carburetor is already shot. Not sure. Paid around 300$ for this. Maybe I'm spoiled after my Honda ran 10 years with issues.

I first attempted to order a riding mower from Troy-Bilt on 5/31/23. No email confirmation was received but charge was seen on the card. On June 6/8/23, still no mower in sight so, after several disconnections from the online chat, I finally got through about an hour after I began trying. This person was not able to help and told me for more help to call the customer service line. He gave the number listed on the website. I called the number. Sat on hold for 20 minutes, not great, not horrible. Got through, gave a summary of what was happening and what I was trying to do. Silence. "HELLO? Are you there?" She finally takes me off mute and says, "I'm sorry, say that again." Are these people just chatting with each other while we wait on hold? Seems that way. I tell her again what's going on and she said she couldn't help me and told me to call a different number.

I called the next number and sat on hold for an hour and a half. Was finally told the charge didn't go through because I was not shipping to the billing address (then WHY is there an option to do this on the website???). Hung up so I could figure billing/shipping/payment stuff. Decided to try putting an order through online that evening (6/8/23) since I now had the billing and shipping matching up. Clicked to place order. "Not able to process. Contact customer service...Blah blah". I called my card company, took a couple minutes to get a representative, and told her I was about to click to place an order and told her the amount (to make sure it wouldn't get denied). She watched, not denied on their end. Ok... Morning of 6/9/23 (today) I started a call. I had errands to run so I had my husband sit on hold and wait. After 1.5 hours on hold, he got through. Tried TWO different cards, neither worked.

I got home, called the card company. She said the charges went through but were taken back by Troy-Bilt. Troy-Bilt was taking back the charges. Begrudgingly, I made another phone call. After about 15 minutes I started asking myself why I was FIGHTING to buy THIS particular lawn mower from THIS particular company. Do I want to deal with this terrible customer service when something inevitably goes wrong with the mower? In the time I sat on hold with Troy-Bilt, I went to another brand, read reviews, contacted their customer service and made a purchase while still on hold. I hung up with 58 minutes on hold. Endlessly on hold. Do better guys, this was terrible that I wasted so much time trying to figure this out and they lost out on a sale. I wonder how many more they lose out on because they either aren't hiring enough people or the people they hire don't care (or both).

Bought a Troy-Bilt Storm 2460 snowblower from Home Depot in December 2020. Used it twice during that winter for less than 2 hours. Worked well and started easily. Ran engine dry for storage as recommended. First big snow of 2022 on a Monday morning, went out to garage, gassed it up and tried to start. Spent 2 hours screwing with it and couldn't get it start. Could not smell any raw gas coming out of exhaust. Neighbors came over to help, sprayed ether into air intake, cranked, started, ran for about 3 seconds. Couldn't get engine started and running sustained. Tuesday morning called Troy-Bilt "tech support" spoke to a young lady named Taylor, she said to remove carburetor bowl and float and clean with carb cleaner. I asked her if doing that would void the 3 year warranty and she no because carburetor maintenance is part of "normal" maintenance and this type of problem was a common problem.

Found that all the fasteners are metric, used a 10mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet to try remove bolt. Bolt wouldn't budge. Had to use a pipe on the ratchet to get sufficient leverage to break bolt loose. Finally removed bolt and carb bowl. Found metal shavings in the bottom of the bowl. Not good! Anyway, removed float and hosed everything down with GumOut, reinstalled float and tried to reinstall bowl. Could not get bolt to thread back in. Played with it for about 10 minutes, finally took bowl back out and tried threading bolt in without bowl. It threaded in for about last 2 threads on the bolt! Apparently, the pickup pipe where the bolt threads into was stripped out, hence the metal shavings. Called Troy-Bilt support back on Thursday morning, this time got a male support rep, gave him my case number and explained what I found.

He said that I had to buy a new carburetor! I asked why it wasn't covered under the warranty, his response "maybe if you would have taken a picture of the metal shavings in the bowl we could done something!" What a bunch of **! Asked how much a new carb was, he said $71 but he would give a discount. Oh, and the carb wouldn't ship until March 1st! Ordered it anyway. Real disappointed. After I got off the phone with Troy-Bilt immediately went online and found a company on eBay in Houston that had 4 carbs in stock for $40. Ordered one and it arrived yesterday. That will be this Saturday's project provided I can get the carb bolts out without stripping anything else out! Told this story to vendor I use for our club's Ag equipment and he basically told me the same story about a slightly different model Troy-Bilt snowblower he was trying to repair for a customer.

Apparently, the gorilla that assembles the carbs cross threads the steel bolts in the pot metal carb bodies and torques the bolts down so tight they don't leak. In case you're wondering, no, there was no Loctite on any of the bolts! Overall, extremely disappointed with the machine, quality of manufacturing and Troy-Bilt's failure to stand behind their products. Troy-Bilt was purchased by MTD here in Ohio and MTD was purchased by Stanley Black & Decker which are now owned by the Chinese. Used to think very highly of Troy-Bilt products, not any more. From what I have been reading it looks like I may be in store for a lot of headaches with this product! Caveat emptor!

Despite following all the instructions to the "t" (new gas, correct oil, right mixture, etc.), the 5th time I used it, the engine made a clunk and wouldn't start again. Menard's wouldn't replace it and told me I had to take it to an authorized Troy-Bilt service center.

I called them and was told they were going to charge me $50 to look at it (even under warranty) and I'd have to wait till Spring to bring it in. If it was a carburetor that was the problem, they'd fix it and refund the $50, but he said it sounded like a piston problem, and he said I HAD to have done something wrong, and so he warned me now that it wouldn't be covered under warranty. It would cost more to repair than it would to buy a new one, so my only real solution was to throw this one away and buy a new one. I posted this review on their website but it was rejected because "it did not meet all our website guidelines." Do Not buy this product. Had my old Troy-Bilt 42in ride on mower for years and put hundreds of hours on it. Ran like a champ. Recently I blew the transmission so I decided it was time for a new one. Bought one of the Troy-Bilt website and took 6 weeks to get here. Did not work for even one mow. It would run for a few minutes then quit. Start again then quit. Called Troy-Bilt up and said once you put gas in the machine it is considered used and they cannot take it back. They suggested taking it to an authorized dealer which I did.

Apparently under the warranty from Troy-Bilt fuel issues are not covered. Which essentially makes the warranty useless and a nice little clause of not taking responsibility. So I had to pay out of pocket to fix a brand new mower. The governor spring was not working and the fuel filter and Carburetor were all clogged and a mess. Something that should never be the case. So after $1800 plus dollars for the new mower and repairs it will hopefully work. I also found out Troy-Bilt was sold and is a subsidiary of MTD. You can see the quality has deteriorated since this happened. Would not buy again, recommend, and fingers crossed the mower will actually work. Not so. It burns oil. The cutting deck didn't have the anti-scalp wheels. Not only that, but there are no wheels available for this model. Really?

The mulch kit is a disaster. The part that should cover the output area of the deck never stays in place, causing large amounts of clippings to wind up on the lawn. There are so many clippings escaping that if the wind is coming from the output side of the deck, I wind up covered in clippings. This also means that considerable extra mowing is required to scatter the abundance of clippings left on the lawn. For some reason the turning radius (on a left turn) is considerably larger than the right turn. Very annoying. This is my 3rd new tractor in 35 years on the same property. By far this is the worst one ever. In retrospect, I wish I chose to spend a bit more and got a Deere.

    Not so great:
I realize it is a yard tractor, but if the turf tires even see a small drop of water it will get stuck.
Fuel tank should be twice the current size so you can finish a decent sice yard on one tank.

Ordered directly from the manufacturer and this is the response that I get from customer service. Worst customer service ever. They were quick to charge my card though. Never again!!!!

Some years ago I had a Troy-Bilt snowblower. It started once, and then never again. This is akin to the issue I have with this weed wacker. It regularly takes 40-50 pulls to get the thing to start. I only use special (expensive) pre-mixed and stabilized fuel, because I am certain that if you put regular gas in the thing you could just kiss it goodbye.

As you have to pull with the force of gorilla, and use every bit of the supplied cord length every time, I badly strained a finger with the too-short cord came to a sudden stop. When I finally did get this miserably cheap piece of consumer junk to start, I got about a minute and a half of run time before it had gone through all six feet of cutting line. Should have known better. The name "Troy-Bilt" ought to be synonymous with "Warning!"

Updated on 04/28/2020: I wrote a review in January about how Troy-Bilt wouldn't listen when I told them I couldn't get my mower fixed by the local dealer. I said it had a "draw or dead short". The dealer accused me of sabotaging the mower so I could pay for repairs???? I finally called Home Depot and begged them to take it back. They took my mower to their repair facility and replaced the solenoid for free. It was a draw from a faulty part. Hmmm where have I heard that before. If it wasn't for Home Depot standing behind the product they sell this mower would never have been fixed! Troy-Bilt is not a company that stands behind their product. Please don't waste your money. P.S. this took almost 7 month to get this mower running. I had to buy a $350 junker to get me by. The junker still works fine! Home Depot also paid back half of the $300 I'd already paid because this was supposedly my fault. I think I'll review them next!

Original review: I purchased a Troybilt Bronco tractor and after a week it wouldn't start. I never even used it to mow! So I sent it to a service Troybilt service center. The only one within a hundred miles. They charged the battery witch I told them I had already done. They left it out overnight and It still started so they claimed it was my error. They then brought it back after charging me $111. Three weeks I tried to start it again and once more it's dead! The company wants to charge me a $60 pick up fee again to try to repair this mower that hasn't even been used. I called Troybilt and was talked down too and told it was standard procedure to charge. It has a dead short and came from the factory that way. Troybilt/Mtd doesn't stand behind their product. If I could give them a zero I would.

I tried to YouTube and figure out the issue for over a hour before taking it back. Once there I was told it was a defective mower. So I upgraded to the 150. Got it home. It worked but my yards looked horrible. I purchased the mower to mulch the leaves. The mower did none of the sort. It simply pushed the leaves and "mulch" to the opposite side. Needless to say, after going to Home Depot 3 different times, spending over $300, and wasting over 6 hours of my life, my yard looks even worse than it did when I started. I still need a working mower that performs what it says it does, and will have to end up raking my yard anyway. Even the associate told me the brand is horrible. Next time I'll listen.

I purchased this model for the versatility of having one motor for multiple tools and the ease of not having to mix fuel. For the first year it worked perfectly. However the following year I was blowing some leaves when I stopped to take a break, the pull cord was hanging out of my motor. I pulled it slowly and it just fell out in my hand. It was broken internally. I took my machine in for warranty and they said the pull cord mechanism had snapped the crankshaft in half. The entire engine had to be replaced. The repair facility replaced the engine but now could not get it to run. So they replaced the engine again. This process took over 3 months and I was denied a full replacement.

After receiving my repaired equipment back, it ran ok, but was much harder to start and keep idling. This past summer it finally gave up and will not run. This Troy Bilt unit only lasted 4 years (3 seasons of use since it was purchased in October). Maybe that is expected for this low quality piece of equipment, but my expectation would be much longer and without so much service. My opinion is to spend a little more money and buy a quality piece that should last longer and start every time. (Hint-they make great chainsaws, their orange and made in Germany). For me this will be the first and last piece of equipment I buy from Troy Bilt.

I bought a brand new Troy-Bilt 46” riding mower from Lowe's. My experience started out after it was delivered and I had to send it back due to damage. Then another one came and was rusting, then another due to damage and reverse not working. Finally got one that worked or so I thought. Last year the powder coating started to lift up and peel off in sheets. BTTW covered the cost of a brand new lower body, and hood, and some bolt hardware. It was gone in service from July until this year 2019 of February. Got the mower out of my shed to mow on April 25th, and it just stopped working. Then I noticed a manufacturer defect in the new body, that was causing the battery cables to rub. Then it would start, then idle up and down and smoke out of the exhaust. Reverse would work without the safety button being turned on.

I called service advantage and BTTW. Spoke with Katrina ** at BTTW, she put in for a buyout on the mower due to it being repaired 3 times last year and the issues I have now. Then I get a call saying my service appt was canceled and I verbally abused them and they won’t work with me. Mind you I recorded every conversation as they knew and still wouldn’t give me a reason why. I called Service Advantage and they seen all the notes and case numbers, and that the request for a buyout was approved, then it stated I was verbally abusive, then while on the phone with Service Advantage another verbal abuse came up with me and I wasn’t even talking to BTTW. Then the claim was denied.

Out of the blue BTTW put in a request for service, but they didn’t want anything to do with me right??? I waited for a call and got one today, stating the service appt was cancelled again. So I called Service Advantage or Lowe's warranty, and I was told even though I still have a warranty they won’t help me and I’m on my own. Spend your money somewhere else. The mowers are junk, motors lock up from other reviews I’ve seen, electrical issues. They took my $2000 and basically told me to shove it and go against their own policy. So if I want it fixed I have to pay for everything out of pocket. They are liars, have excuses, and are the worst people to deal with.

You would be better off talking to a dog then have them do anything for you. I’m going to contact a lawyer regarding this as it’s in their policy for warranty. Even other brands have a lot of complaints yet my 1992 Craftsman 2 rider was a tank and I never had any issue with that. Minus me selling it for this larger piece of scrap I have in my shed. With the guidelines when you write a review it states it’s my opinion of the business. Well it’s not a opinion. It’s a fact. I wish I could post the videos I have of it shaking all over and blowing white and black smoke out of the exhaust and be able to let you people hear my conversations, on what I was told then a 180 was thrown and now I have nothing.

Since, then worked very well until September 2018. The acceleration was lagging. So, called customer service, told them it's just a month out of warranty but lost 2 months during earlier repair. So, I hired a local technician, who determined it's transmission failure. So, I called Troy-Bilt, this rep said, "It won't be covered." I called again, and got in touch with an amazing gentleman Rob, who said, since I lost 2 months of service during original warranty, they will cover this one time, if it's a manufacturing defect. In all fairness, I said ok and transported it to the nearest authorized repair center.

Also, I suggest that Troy-Bilt offer an extended warranty for an additional price like John Deere, Cub Cadet etc. do even on basic models. NO CHOICE - So I went out to my shed to start it/back it out, - it started, revved way-high (the Governor failed) and exploded! Parts flew out the back of the engine block and oil cascaded all over everything in the shed! I called just about every warranty place in the state and finally found one that could take it and fix it within a month. THAT'S when I got the surprise $180.00 bill (KOHLER put the Carb on the engine, but would not cover it. They charged me for that! And (in the end) it was 'Pay-up or you don't get your machine back!') My son took it out of the shed yesterday and - it's back doing the same thing again (but THIS TIME -NO WARRANTY). I will have to either replace the Carb with a better, U.S. built one I found on a Forum, or figure out a way to correct the butterfly shaft freeze -up on this one.

They said, "Sorry we don't cover engine. It's a Briggs and Stratton. They only guarantee for 1 yr. We aren't responsible for engine". I asked if you have a contract with them for the engine then you should stand behind it. No they don't and don't care. Would never buy from them again. Engines within a yr start having problems buy John Deere at least. They care about all of their products. Poor customer service from Troy-Bilt. Takes your money and that's all.

Picked this mower out for my parents and bought the same model for myself after my mower died! Within 2 years dad was complaining about front adjustment dropping down. Found front axle was not holding in place, plastic tabs had warped and axle settled to side causing one side of mower being quarter to half inch low and front height adjustment to fall out of place easily. I found front cover 731-11699 and front height adjustment plate 787-01818-0637 online, not through Troy-Bilt, but genuine parts for parents' mower.

After this I checked my own mower and found same problems! I called Troy-Bilt and they sent parts for price of shipping. Now both mowers are doing same thing, obvious manufacturers defect! Troy-Bilt will only do %15 percent off parts now, I can get them cheaper through mower parts online, but don't want to pay for cheap parts that will fail within next year or 2. Troy-Bilt was very unhelpful and aren't taking responsibility for bad part design, I will never buy Troy-Bilt again!

The pull string to start the engine just stopped working and it won't recoil back. I can't start the engine. Lowe's said the product is under 3 year warranty but they can't help me. I need to send it to a Troy-Bilt service. I am out here on my own.

P.s. I bought the same said trimmer 2 years ago. The first time this happened, I figured it's user error since I always have keep pulling the string many times before I can get the engine to start. So I bought another one this June and the same product broke in the same area. Shame on me for believing in your products. I'm stuck with a useless product. About a year ago I purchased a Troy-Bilt weed eater. Several weeks ago I had to take it to a repair shop to have someone look at it. I was told that the cylinder or pistons (not sure which) had scratches on it and that it had low compression. The repairman stated that if he got it running again that it would just die for good after a few times of use. I use the recommended 2-cycle oil & gas treatment and have done nothing on my end to damage the unit. The repairman said that it was just normal wear and tear, and that it was nothing I did that broke it. After telling the repairman that it was still under warranty, he said good luck trying to get Troy-Bilt to replace it. He said that Troy-Bilt is a cheap machine and that they go out very easily. He also said that he had about 30 of them in the back that he was working on trying to repair.

I contacted the Troy-Bilt customer service about the warranty and they would not do anything for me. The rep said that the repairman stated on the invoice that it was normal wear and tear and that it voided the warranty. If the unit became damaged and it wasn't my fault, the only thing it could be was normal wear and tear. I WILL NEVER buy a Troy-Bilt again.

I purchased a Troy-BIlt 2,800 PSI pressure washer at Lowe's in July of 2017. It was used one time that year for about 2 hrs. Come fall, I ran the engine until it ran out of gas and disconnected all hoses and tilted the machine to empty any water in pump. Brought it in my heated basement over the winter and covered it with a canvas drop cloth. This spring, I got it out to use it and a couple of problems occurred. I gassed it up with fresh gas. Checked oil and brought it outside. I had one heck of a time getting it started. After finally getting it started, hooked everything up to it to use it.

At first it worked great. After about 10 minutes the pressure dropped drastically. I checked for kinked hoses and nothing. Then I saw water pouring out of the bottom of the machine. The CHEAP cast aluminium pump outlet started leaking like mad at the seam. I brought it back to Lowe's and they would not replace it. It has a 2 year warranty. Lowe's told me they would send it out to have it repaired. A week later I got a call from Lowe's telling me it would cost me $380.00 to have it repaired. I reminded them it had a 2 year warranty. They basically told me, "TOO BAD!" I will never buy another Troy-Bilt machine of any kind and will never do any more business with Lowe's.

The first year it worked great, no issues with any part of it, but the 2nd season it didn't start. I hauled it into F&F and there was a load of mowers there already needing to be fixed, they said 5 weeks out! Mine being under warranty it was rushed a bit and I even called into Troy-Bilt because there was a "guarantee" stating if you need your lawn mowed, they would send someone out to do it. Well after about a week dealing with 2 people on that end, they claim that offer did not exist though I had a card stating it and even sent it as a picture to them. Ended up being on the end of the store who I bought it from but who was to know, it didn't state much on the card, but they didn't seem to know much either.

I got my mower back and like other comments, it was on me because they claimed it was the gas line and not covered though I used the correct gas. The man said most mowers in there were probably for the same thing since they changed the gas line to the new ones. So of course they remove that from the Warranty! I get it home and start and it about dies, something else is going wrong. So back in it goes and it was an issue with the man that fixed it, didn't put things back together properly and the gas leaked all over my garage, seal out of place.

Since getting it back the engine has been running high and low still is not sounding right. It cuts terrible and has a hard time throwing the grass in the bag, just doesn't seem to have enough power like it did the first year. Each time I mow I think I am not going to finish my lawn! I am putting it up for sale and getting something else, this is what I call a "1 yr lawnmower". You buy it cause it looks good but don't expect it to last more than 1 yr... I will probably take it back into service yet again but the problem is, unless they are actually mowing grass, they can't hear the engine and who has the time during peak season to be without a mower for weeks? It has power and seems fine sitting in their garage. I am but one person and to haul this thing in every other week is getting to be a hassle.

I purchased a 20 hp, riding mower in April 2017, I mowed three times this spring all ok, went to start it for the 4th mowing and it started and blew oil and gas out the exhaust. Since I purchased an extended 4 year warranty I called Lowe's for repair. They picked it up and sent it God knows where, I received a call from the repair center telling me it was my fault because I did not use Sta-bil in the gas so I would have to pay for the repairs totaling $316.00. I store all my gasoline equipment with Sta-bil over the winter months (golf cart, weed wacker, push mower, etc.) with no problem. They basically called me a liar!!! I will no longer purchase anything from Lowe's again and certainly not purchase anything the Troy-Bilt makes. Lowe's bumper to bumper warranty is a joke, money down the drain.

I am sick over this as I don’t have $300 to just give away! I see that most others haven’t had any luck with exchanges & returns but I’m going to try. I purchased a Super Bronco tiller in 2017 right before garden season. Ran well. Finished, ran gas out of it, and stored it for winter. Took it out a few days ago to till and it starts and then cuts out or starts and sounds like it's going to shut off when it runs. I owned a Troy-Bilt about 20 years ago. Ran that tiller until it wouldn't start anymore, maybe 15 years. I purchased it directly from Troy-Bilt had it shipped to me. I purchased this at Lowe's and I would never but another Troy-Bilt again. They say that the big box stores sell cheap end but at 800 I don't expect things to be CHEAP. Called Troy-Bilt and they told me I was going to have to pay for the pickup and delivery of the tiller... I will never buy another product from Lowe's or Troy-Bilt again!

I purchased a mower for my husband as a birthday gift less than a year ago. He was about to mow the lawn with his brandy new mower that he was so excited to use and it would not start. He asked our neighbor for help. They tried everything with no avail. I purchased it at my local Lowe's so I called the Lowe's number on my mower and they told me to bring it in and they would send it out for repair. I did just that and when I got there they proceeded to tell me that if they sent it out for repair they would charge me as much as the mower cost so they told me to call Troy-Bilt direct which I then did. Troy-Bilt told me that I could send it for repairs locally but they would most likely also charge me. So less than a year old product has absolutely no guarantee at all. Very disappointed in this company and will most likely never purchase anything from this brand again. So everyone out there do your homework and beware.

I bought the Super Bronco to replace a Bronco I have had for 18 years. I brought it home, put the oil and gas in, it started first time. I started to till and the tiller just wanted to sit there and bog down. I saw the tines going counter to what my old one did. I cannot use this tiller. WHY IN THE WORLD would Troy-Bilt change what worked? They don't garden anyway! I took the tiller back and learned that all Troy-Bilt tillers are counter. I had high respect for Troy-Bilt tillers, but not anymore. I have talked to several people who had the same experience or had talked to a person that knew about the problem. You need to fix the problem and you would sell more tillers.

I saw an ad in Lowe's sale paper for a gas powered tiller (no oil mix) that seemed to be reasonably priced for a sale price... I purchased the tiller from Lowe's, brought it home, took it out of the box, followed the Troy Bilt instructions with the fuel and oil. I started the tiller, it idled okay. I went to the area where I wanted to use the tiller and began to till the ground. (It had rained earlier in the day so the ground was moist). The tiller bogged down in less than 10 seconds. I restarted the tiller and the same happened over and over. I took the tiller to my trusted small engine repairman. My repairman was unable to get the tiller to work properly. I placed this tiller at the curb with a sign hung on it which read "Free Headache." Over the years I have bought troy bilt products in the past with pretty much the same experience as the tiller, but this tiller experience takes the cake. PLEASE DON'T BUY TROY BILT PRODUCTS...

Seeing all the negative comments about Troy-Bilt products is disappointing. Because in 2005 I bought a Troy-Bilt 2-stage snow blower and have used it many times since. It always starts quickly and runs flawlessly. I am careful to run the gasoline out of it when snow has stopped falling, so the carburetor stays dry and clean for the off-winter months, then is ready to prime and go when winter snows return. Maybe Troy-Bilt has gone to the "dark" cheap side. Too bad.

Added fresh fuel and will not start. No choke or throttle control and no Fuel shut-off valve. Only way to run carb empty is to drain tank and run it out. Stupid design. Don't care what they say. It's junk. With the crap fuel we have today you need a fuel shut-off valve. Took it back to Lowe's as it is under warranty. They said warranty covered by TB until extended warranty kicks in after one year. Called TB. They said if it's the carburetor or fuel line it's not covered. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. For the same money there are much better units available.

Threw the thing away, and replaced it with a Husqvarna, which has run perfectly. Also purchased a Troy-Bilt Leaf blower TB430, early 2017, and had the same problem. The carburetors on these things are NOT adjustable, and are regulated by CARB standards, which apparently work, as these things cannot create pollution of any kind if they won't run. I will never purchase another Troy-Bilt product, as they are a complete waste of money, for only a few hours of run time. I would advise everyone else to follow suit.

Troy-Bilt lawn Pony tractor 42" 17.5 HP - On Sunday 02/26/2017, I purchased this online from Lowe's with a 3-year extended warranty. On the following Thursday 03/02/2017 they delivered "A" mower. Wrong one. It was a used 15.5 HP and no reverse mowing with no manual. Right headlight bulb was missing. No cover on the air filter, which was filthy as was the engine. I started it and smoke went everywhere. Shut down. Started it again... Nothing. I went to Lowe's and complained. On Friday Lowe's picked up this wrong mower and left me the correct one. On Saturday I cut my lawn... No problem.

On Monday, the belt came off and jammed in the pulleys. Put it back on. Around end of May the blades stopped rotating while blowing leaves off driveway. Repair person picked it up and had to replace the cable that controlled the belt. It had broken. At the end of break in time I changed the oil. I check the oil before every start. On Saturday 07/22/2017 (a bad time of year), I was mowing and the engine started knocking loudly and died and would not restart. The engine had blown. The repair company is about a week and a half behind on repairs and told me it could be up to 3 weeks before I could get it back depending on the problem. I am very disappointed in Lowe's for delivering the wrong mower to begin with and with Troy-Bilt for the state of the tractor.

Troy-Bilt/Briggs and Stratton, after about 3 weeks approved the motor replacement. Then promptly changed their mind and disapproved. It took until the end of September (about 2 months) to get them to admit the cause was not me. They approved the installation of a new motor around 9/30/2017 but with the stipulation that it be a different type. I finally got my mower back with the new motor on October 10. A different type??? Tells me something about the original type installed. Hmmm.

The customer service rep says, after consulting his superior, that in the last page of the warranty manual that no commercial use is covered. So I am wondering, when the box says it has a 2 year warranty, who reads the whole manual before buying the product? In fact, should I have opened every box on every mower and read every page of the manual before purchasing? I will not buy a Troy-Bilt mower again. They sounded cheap at the store, but I thought I should try it. Now I know they are cheap. Then I look up reviews on Troy-Bilt. In 430 something reviews, the average is a 1 star out of 5.
