The ads are simply disgusting. And the timing couldn't be worse, at dinnertime, to see that horrible creature. I would never use your company.

I have fully paid Terminix. I found live termites and trails. The inspector came and before even going into basement said, "You saw no live termites!" After inspecting, he came back up and said he needed to send someone back out; he saw some trails. I have been trying for one month to get them back out here. When I called the fourth time, they said I only called once. To this date, they still haven't come back out! I used to believe in Terminix. Now, I don’t!

A Terminix employee showed up at my home in uniform and in a company truck. My son was the only one home at that time. He answered the door and felt comfortable when he saw the Terminix truck since we have been using their services for around 18 years. The employee began asking my son bizarre questions, and soon, my son became uneasy and tried to close the door.
The Terminix employee pushed the door open and continued. He was just drilling him with questions my son did not know the answer to nor understand since it had nothing to do with pest control, and he was scared. He was finally able to shut and lock the door and call me. I am angry and scared! I do not like being scared in my own home! This should have never happened. I want this man to receive consequences for his horrible behavior! I would like to know when and what those consequences are please!

I contracted them to provide service for 3 families for a year and they showed up only once. Twice, they made appointments and refused to show up and sent me an email after the fact, as if they had completed the service. After trying to contact them, they kept hanging up on me or giving me the runaround.

The inspector hustled me and acted like I owed him and got mad at me when I cancelled one of the services. He said I made him look bad and he didn't want me as a customer. He didn't know his products, said he looked for openings in the attic but didn't. He signed me up for an expensive service and then I never heard from him again. Inspector does not talk with the technician and he does not report to home office. Technician won't look for the opening in the attic because that's the inspector's job. He won't come back to check on the 2 measly traps; you must call to get him to come back. The 2 measly traps are just inside the attic opening because it is a liability for a pest control company to straddle the framing to get further in.
Home Office in Pleasanton, CA - All locations roll over to national so every time you call, which for me was every other day for 28 days, you get someone new who takes your info and supposedly passes it on to the local office. But no one follows up to your message or calls to see if you still have the ** (rats) so you start all over with national number. I finally reached the Home Office Manager after 3 weeks and he sends out the tech, for what? Tech checks the traps - no rats, because, you **, there is an opening in the attic that needs to be fixed. This goes on and on and on. They are complete morons. Twenty days later, I have multiple nests and rat droppings. Guess who I am hiring to do the job of a pest control company? A Handyman. Terminix will never get my business again. I called today to cancel and requested a refund which comes from the home office that you can never reach.

We contracted Terminix to spray under our house to prevent mold growth. We paid in full, $800 before they came to spray, but we keep receiving bills. After each billing, we call and explain that the bill was already paid. Terminix representatives agreed that our balance is $0.00. Yet we keep getting billed. Today, we received notice that our account was turned over to a collection agency. Terminix is ruining our credit rating over a bill that we paid before they rendered service! We called and guess what? Darlene from Terminix told us that we would have to contact the collection agency and straighten it out ourselves!

We contracted with Terminix to tent our home on December 15th, 2012. Before agreeing to tent, Arnie, our rep, came to our house several times to go over the contract and to schedule the tenting. We never had a problem reaching him before the tenting. On December 15th, a Saturday, Terminix showed up and put the tent on our house. We had rented an RV and stayed in our driveway so we could watch our house during the 2 days it was supposed to take. On Monday, the 17th, the tent was supposed to come off of our house. We packed up our 2 dogs and all of our belongings and waited for Terminix to remove the tent. We had to have the RV back by 11 on Monday, the 17th, or we would be charged for another full day.
By 9am, Terminix had not shown up. Arnie, our rep, finally called us and said he had some bad news. The tent wasn't going to come off that Monday because he had "forgotten" about a procedure they had to do before they take the tent off, and they don't work on Sundays so they would come by on Monday to do it. As a result, we couldn't get into our house on Monday as the tent was still on. I missed work, and we had to pay for another day in the RV. We were assured that on Tuesday we would be the first ones on the list. Eight o’clock rolled around and they were already an hour late. We called customer service, and we were told that our rep would call us back in 10 minutes. We never heard from him (still haven't). We called again and asked to speak to a supervisor; he never called back as promised. We made 8-9 phone calls to try and get someone out to our house to remove the tent.
Finally at 9:30, after threatening to sue them, they showed up and removed the tent. I asked Terminix if they had called the gas company to have our gas turned back on so that we could have heat and hot water. Terminix told us that it was our responsibility to call the gas company. I called them and was informed that the earliest they could come out was Thursday, 2 days later. It was raining; we have two dogs, no heat and no hot water. The gas company told us we could have it turned on the same day for a fee. We asked Terminix to please pay the $35.00 fee as it was their fault, and we never heard back from them (still haven't).
Today, January 31, 2013, I had to go up into our attic. Terminix did not staple their inspection card up there. There is no proof that they were ever here. There is an old card up there from the previous tenting from another company from 1993. As of today, 01/31/2013, our rep has yet to call us back. This company is a rip-off. They take your money and you never hear from them again. I am calling the Pest Control Board due to the fact that they failed to put notice in our attic and garage. I am still paying these people for crappy service. I don't recommend them at all. They also have an arbitration clause in their contract so we can't sue. I am going to try anyway.

I wanted to identify the insect, called the 800 # to get the closest office in MD. I asked for a local number and she said, "If they aren't there, it will roll to another store so you can't call them(?)." Why don't they have an answering service, answering machine, or roll it to their personal cell? I called to see if they were there; I don't want to drive there if no one was available to identify it! It answered but it was a FL local! I got the # and called Customer Service; the person answered, "ServiceMaster." I explained, trying to reach Terminix.
She said harshly, "This is Terminix." I asked for a supervisor, got transferred. A lady answered and told me, "There are no supervisors." That explains a lot. I gave her my complaint. She gave me the address to the service in MD! I said, "I just told you, I have that ..." She said, "Then, what's the problem?" This is their Escalation department? Again I explained. I needed to get directions because I didn't recognize the street. It is apparently a side street. She told me to look it up on the internet.
I said, "I want to confirm they are there. She said, "I'm sorry I won't be able to help you today." I said, "This is really inefficient and for you to be the Resolution Center, you really don't seem like you care or even want my business!" She said, "I'm sorry you feel that way," click. I have a small business. Man, I do everything I can to earn every customer. I would have gotten a map out or gotten on the internet and told that customer where the closest main street was. I'd have emailed that owner while the customer was on the phone and confirmed they were there or found out when they would have been there! That's what a Resolution Center does - they resolve issues! Thanks, everyone, for saving my money! Good luck to you all.

On 7/17/12, our siding contractor brought to our attention that there were termites in our window sills and parts of the roof that they could see. I contacted Terminix who is supposed to be the leader in the industry to take care of this. On that day, salesman Carl came out and told us they would treat until the termites were gone and that is their guarantee and would be treating the inside and out. On 7/18/12, the guy came out to start treatment. He dug a trench around the house and started with spraying the inside window sill where there were hundreds of black ants coming out of the wall and the back of the home. He stated that he had to come back due to needing supplies.
I contacted Terminix the next day and spoke to Sherri to let her know that I was spraying bug spray because I had live ants continuing to come out of the window sill and the siding guys need to finish their job so please send out the local guy who never came back. Since July, I have continued to call Terminix with several reps telling me that I should not be billed any longer and they would have someone contact me (with no return calls). Some days/times/reps include: 7/24/12 11:10am Akim; 10/16/12 8:35am Nikita; 10/23/12 2:55pm Kitty; 11/13/12 4:56pm June; Jackie; 11/15/12 8:35am Cindy; 11/17/12 8:03am Jackie; 11/17/12 8:58am Tom; 12/13/12 9:45am Customer Svc; 12/13/12 3:45pm; 4:39pm ** (corp comp dept.). These are just some of the times that I have at work to put on here. There are several more in the Terminix note system. I have been told this issue would be taken care of, and to date it has not. I have filed a complaint and they stated to talk to the local manager who is the same guy who has not showed up as of yet to date. I was told he would call me since July and still nothing.
To have a guarantee and to not show for several appointments and to say there is proof of those additional "stop bys" and not be able to provide to me. It's really frustrating when I took off work those days and sat there waiting for someone to show up and nothing. Then to be told notes don't mean anything. Yes, they do. It backs up what I am saying and backs up my frustration that we still have termites almost 6 months later, and no one has tried to make good on this issue so that I may hire another licensed termite contractor. Why can't corporate review this and see that we are good people with A+ credit and now are being affected because we do not want to pay for a service that was not completed and still have the problem! We just had our roof done by an Angie's List Provider and they saw the termites. They are also willing to verify with Terminix and willing to put in writing so that I can have this contract null and void and the billing to $0 so that I can hire someone that will actually come and do the work they were hired to do.

We have been using Terminix for pest control for many years. The bi-monthly service has been great; however, the Termite department has been nothing but problems for us. The recent problem was the last straw for us. We scheduled a fumigation from Terminix through their representative, Dorian. We paid upfront and scheduled the fumigation for Monday, Dec. 10, per Dorian's suggestion. We spent 2 1/2 hours Sunday night packing up food and medications. We made arrangements for our animals to be cared for, and we prepared to be out of our home until Wednesday afternoon. On Monday morning, the gas company showed up promptly at 9am to shut off our gas, as was scheduled through Terminix. By noon, Terminix still had not showed up to tent our house. My husband (who was in contact with Dorian) asked him to contact me because he (my husband) was going to be in meetings all day. By 12:30, I had not yet heard from Dorian.
I called Terminix directly and I was told that there was no fumigation service scheduled for Monday and I must have my days mixed up. I explained to them that I could not have possibly mixed up the days because they (Terminix) were the ones who scheduled our gas to be shut off. The receptionist said that she would have the manager contact me after he got off the phone with another customer. By 1:30, I still had not heard from the manager or Dorian. I called back, and the receptionist said she would leave another message for the manager to call me back immediately. I waited until 3:30 and still did not hear from a manager. I called back a third time and was told that a manager would contact me soon and I just had to wait until they contacted me. Finally, at 5pm, Dorian called me back and said that there was a mix-up in the paperwork and that they could not tent our house until Tuesday (the following day). He assured me that we would be the first priority for Tuesday.
An hour later, Dorian called back and said that because it was after 5 when he re-submitted the paperwork, it was too late to submit for Tuesday and we could not get our house tented until Wednesday. I asked that if he knew at 12 that there was a mix-up in the paperwork, why did he wait until after 5 to re-submit. He said it was because he could not get a hold of my husband to confirm? First, I do not know what he needed to confirm; we were obviously already ready for fumigation. I also reminded him that my husband told him he would be in meetings all day so to contact me. Apparently, Dorian was confused by those instructions. At this point we agreed to have our house tented on Wednesday; however, I asked Dorian to have someone come over Tuesday morning to turn our gas back on for the day. He said that he would do that.
On Tuesday morning, I contacted Dorian to find out when our gas would be turned on; and he told me that all though he agreed to have our gas turned on, he just could not because the gas company needed 48 hours’ notice to turn it off again, which would push our tenting back to Friday. Let me just add a note, I have 3 children. So now Dorian is telling me that I would not have gas for another day. So no gas to cook, no heater in the house, no hot water, and no food because everything was still packed up. But to top it all off, Dorian's response was, "It looks like we are just going to have to bite the bullet on this one. I'm sorry. There isn't anything else I can say but I'm sorry." Really? We? Because it is him living in a house with 3 kids, no hot water, no food, no heat? After I got off the phone with Dorian, I decided to call back Terminix to complain again to a manager. I told the receptionist that I had a question about a fumigation that was now rescheduled from Monday until Wednesday. Guess what, she said, "Um, there is not a fumigation scheduled for that address. Are you sure you have the correct day?" You have got to be kidding.
I told the receptionist that although she does not show that it is scheduled, I want to cancel the order. I called Dorian and told him I want the order canceled and I want our check back immediately. He showed up an hour later with my check, and I asked him to please contact the gas company to turn our gas back on immediately. He said he was already on the phone with them and he would call me to let me know when they would come out. By 4 pm, I still had not heard from Dorian or the gas company. I called Dorian several times, and he never returned the call. I finally called the gas company and was told that they needed a 24 hours’ notice to turn the gas back on after Terminix contacts them. But Terminix never contacted them to turn my gas back on. On Wednesday, at 7pm, we finally had our gas turned back on - not because of Terminix, but because I called the gas company and begged them to please come turn on our gas and assured them that there was never a fumigation. I think they could tell I was on the verge of a breakdown. Oh, by the way, it is now Saturday; I have still not received a call from Dorian or the Terminix managers.

I had a mouse problem in my attic. The technician showed up out of the Waterbury, CT office. Before he looked at anything, I had to sign a contract. He then set some traps up and I asked him when I should call him to empty traps. He said even though the service is unlimited, I would get charged if I call too many times. A Terminix inspector showed up 2 hours after the tech left. I thought it was odd. Turns out he was trying to sell me "special" insulation for my attic to save on my heating cost and repel mice! I contacted Terminix that night and cancelled my contract. However, the customer service rep informed me even though my money I laid out was to be given back guaranteed, I would have to take it up with the Waterbury office.
Needless to say, no one ever called me back and I'm out $197. I would strongly not sign up for this service. This company is unprofessional and customer service is terrible. The Waterbury, CT branch is awful. Not even a call back. Please don't give them your business. You will be dissatisfied and out of money.

They have a consistent history of billing for services never rendered. I used to pay them yearly but noticed that they did not show up for scheduled services. I called but they never showed up. I stop paying them annually but only pay for services they render. However, they still sent me invoices without providing any services. The following is the most recent example that I filed a complaint with the BBB. They did not show up for one of their scheduled services sometime in 2011. I called and they apologized that their service person was busy on the scheduled date. They scheduled me another date, also in the end of 2011, telling me that their service person would come to service my house. On the scheduled date, the service person called me and apologized that he would not be able to come at the scheduled time and told me that his supervisor will contact me to reschedule. I waited for a few days, and then called and left them a message, but they never returned my call.
I thought to myself that I could skip one service and wait for the next service because these are routine pest control that they service my house 4 times a year. However, I then received an invoice for the service they never provided. I wrote them to explain the situation, but I received the exact invoice a few weeks later. I then wrote them again. They came back with another invoice. I called them and they said they would examine it, but I received an invoice again. I wrote and called them asking for their proof of service, but they, of course, have never been able to provide the proof of service because they never did. For the times they did come out to provide service, they would leave a slip with a record of the services they provided, such as something like ".3 GAL of Lamda-Cyhalothrin; Gen Surface spray, etc." Again, they have never been able to provide such proof of services.
To make a long story short, they never correct their records and continued to bill me despite my multiple requests for proof or correction of their record. Today, I received a letter from a collection agency. I do not want this to have any impact on my credit; therefore, I go ahead and pay for it, which is only $94. Therefore, I filed a complaint with the BBB. This organization is unethical and unprofessional. It is a waste of time and money with them.

Now here I am calling them to cancel my services. The Customer Support woman said, "No problem, let me transfer you to the Cancellation department." I got the awesome elevator waiting music and then it goes straight to a voice mail letting me know that the Cancellation department is unavailable but if I leave a message, they will get back to me. After that, when service was done, there was no warning so that someone could be home to let them inside; flags were placed where spaying was occurring and bills were left and paid. Eventually, no one would come and after countless calls and promise of service, I am still not able to get someone to come to my home. Also, we have had three spider bites throughout the summer in the yard where the spaying was supposed to have occurred and were seen in my home even after the times they were there. I called out three companies. Terminix was mid-cost, dropped to meet other co. Great so far. Dorian even matched 3-year warranty promised by other co. They came to do subterranean. Soon I received report signed for me by the tech who came out. Hmmm. Received 1 year warranty, but wait - I was promised 3 years. Dorian is nowhere to be found. Hmmmm. Company made me prove Dorian promised (I had made him sign the contract before the work was performed because the contract only showed 1 year. He changed it to 3 years and signed it. - I had to prove this. Hmmmm.)
It has been more than four months, and after contacting them each month, Joelle promised to send me a letter stating that I have a 3-year warranty. It's been another month, and all we get is it's in the mail. I know the mail is slow, but a month? So if you don't mind their techs signing your name, salesmen not returning calls after the job is done and office personnel blowing you off with excuses, then this might be the company for you. I'm just wondering if they used as much chemicals as promised and my termites don't return during my warranty period. Hmmm.
Abridged version: Don't use these, guys. I wish I had seen this site before I used them.

We have had both pest and termite contracts with Terminix for several years. We had to schedule a treatment for fleas inside and outside of our house. The technician came and provided the service and we had to board our cat and went to hotel as my daughter is allergic and had already gotten bites. The technician told us not to vacuum for 2-3 days - the opposite of what we were told on the phone. When we returned to feed kittens outside, my daughter put a bowl down just outside the door and immediately had several fleas on her. We called to be re-treated as per the agreement with our pest contract. That was rescheduled for 3-5pm. At 2:50, my husband got to the house and saw a technician leaving the street. He immediately called the company who assured him that it wasn't the technician for us. He then called several more times while waiting and was told again he was on the books and that the technician was on other calls. Then at about 5:45pm, the technician called and said he was there at 2:50 and that he was going to come.
After my husband, who had waited three hours, stated that if this was how they treated clients, he would have to consider his staying with Terminix. The technician said, “That's fine" and he understands that. I called the company to ask about the many issues with all this and spoke with two nice individuals who tried to get action by sending me to their supervisors and then to the manager. The manager, Matt **, was with his family at a restaurant and didn't seem much interested in getting someone to solve the issue by having the technician own up to leaving before the scheduled appointment and have him come back. I acknowledge that people are human and that the people on the phone who didn't follow through to check on the technician and the technician who left before the scheduled time, and then said he wouldn't come back. But I asked if they would rectify it and tell the technician to come back and do the treatment. After discussion, he did agree to talk with the supervisor and have that person or himself call back.
I believe it was Preston or Core ** who called back and stated he knew the technician and was only concerned with backing him up and not acknowledging or more importantly find to resolve the many issues. He’s not coming until Monday when we are at work and school. If we waited until after work then the cat would have to board again and we would need to be out of the house at a hotel until things got under control. He said he spoke to the manager after talking with me and that they agreed to wait 5 days which was his preferred treatment. My daughter got eight more bites in the short time we were back in the house for a total of 18 and is on Benadryl for the reactions. He did state that the technician who said not to vacuum was 100% wrong. He said that the product is to work in 5-7 days as that would give it time to work. I asked him and had asked the manager what we need to do in the meantime as we had a cat boarded and my daughter still got bitten from adult fleas.
He said at one point, the product kills adult fleas and when I said it didn't, he still went back to repeating that the product is to kill the eggs. He stated that he could re-treat in five days and if we didn't want to do that, then that we could part ways. I had explained to both that we were told that it was safe to return in 4 hours and that it was dangerous and misleading when they now say that their product doesn't kill the live fleas. People should be told that it isn't safe to return, especially if they are allergic, that clients and pets are still at risk. The supervisor came down to say the people on the phone should be scheduling re-treatments before 5-7 days. Then why are they and why didn't they say this when we called? Why did the technician not mention this when he spoke to us? Why did he also not leave a note to say he had come and why he left? Is it because it was too early he did not let anyone know so that when we call several times we wouldn't have to waste our time?
It was very confusing as every time I pointed out that what they said and what it did was not working in terms of policies and procedure, they would come up with another story to blame something or someone else. To this end, in reality, their products are not intended to kill adult ones but over time, if people vacuum they will perhaps get rid of them just by the vacuuming? Why then do we need their service? Over-the-counter foggers kill the live adult fleas. The costs of boarding the cat, the hotel fees, the cost for us to do what Terminix was supposed to do which is kill the adult ones, the inconvenience of preparing the house, and being out of the house, the months my daughter will suffer before her bites will heal - who will help us with these things? The company does not own human errors, doesn't honor their own policies, and does nothing to rectify the situations. Poor business.

On a couple of occasions, it was so bad that I even had to call them back to my house. At the end of the year, I called to cancel my contract. Then the following day, I noticed that Terminix had made a direct withdrawal from my account. I was completely surprised since in the past they would call the week before they were coming to my house as a reminder and because I cancelled the contract! When I called to make an inquiry and dispute the payment, I received the runaround from Terminix. They told me they were at the house the day before, the same day I cancelled my service with them and someone from their office would get back to me. I have not heard anything else from them and have called three more times trying to follow up and have not received any further help or answers. I am not the kind of person that normally writes reviews or disputes charges, but this time I am really pissed and would never use Terminix again. I do not recommend Terminix to anyone!

Well I've used Terminix in the past for carpenter bee problems. They were quick to come out, assess the problem and spray, and the technician was very professional. The spray didn't completely kill off the bees, but they did have a 30-day guarantee and they came back and sprayed again. At that point, I'm not sure if it was cool enough they went into hibernation or if they were killed off, but my problem was solved! Imagine my surprise almost a year later when I find a bedbug in my son's room! My son is hypersensitive to everything and has severe allergies to pretty much everything, so I immediately bagged his whole room and started the decontamination process.
I woke up Saturday morning and called Terminix right away asking for someone as soon as possible and was told I was scheduled for 10-12 that day. Wonderful! I continued with my cleaning and washing, drying and doing what I could but I kept a picture of the bug so they could see it. 12:30 came around and I called to find out where the technician was. I'll make this part short, I went through four different service agents, got disconnected 3 times when they were trying to contact the inspector (not a single agent called back to confirm they had or had not reached the technician) and finally, I got to the 5th agent. I was not in the best mood at this time, by now it was 1:30PM and she pulled up my account and said, "Ma'am, you're not scheduled until Monday." Five people before someone catches that? So I waited.
Monday came and I waited from 10-12, and finally called at 12 asking where the representative was who was supposed to be coming to my house. She pulled up my file and said, "Please hold while I try to reach him." Great! Guess what? I got disconnected again. I called back and requested a manager, at which time I was given the, "Is there anything I can do" speech so I explained (and yes, very nicely) that no, she couldn't help me because this is what happened Saturday and now we're doing the same thing on Monday. She put me on hold and immediately was able to transfer me to a manager. Brian ** was excellent, apologized greatly and came straight out to the house himself to inspect.
He explained that there had been a scheduling snafu and the individual scheduled to come to my house was on vacation and he wasn't sure why they still scheduled under him. So with the cleaning I had done all weekend, there was no evidence other than my pictures. He offered to have someone come set traps to make sure I did have the bugs before we started treating. With the hassle I had on Saturday and Monday both, he said they would be here at 5PM on Tuesday since that was when I got home from work. I got home Tuesday at 4:45PM and there is a note on the door that they had come and left, call to reschedule.
Needless to say, I was not very pleased. I called Brian directly on his cell phone Tuesday evening (no answer, no message) and again on Wednesday (no answer and yes, I left a message along with a service agent from the other phone number leaving a message) and yet still, no call backs, no answers and no business. Needless to say, I have three other companies scheduled to come already. This is the worst customer service I have seen. If I'm paying someone for a service that from what I can understand is going to be lengthy and expensive, why am I the one calling back and tracking people down? Absolutely disgusted and definitely would not recommend (at least the branch locally here in Dover, DE) to anyone and will be sure to tell everyone I know!

Cancelled Contract & Still Looking for Payment! - I have had Terminix for a few years, left for a year to help a friend start up then went back to Terminix. I always pay up front for the year so that there are no conflicts with payments and late payments, etc. My latest contract of $352.80 was paid on 06/20/2011 until 06/20/2012. I called on 06/01/2012 to cancel my contract as I knew it was coming up for renewal on 06/20/2012. When I called, I was told that I had one service left to call back after service was complete. I then went on vacation and when I returned, I called on 07/10/2012 to cancel which it was.
A few weeks ago, I got a call from Terminix to say I owed $96 for services rendered. After a 20-minute conversation, I request that a manager or somebody with authority calls me back. No one called. Then last week, I got four calls from four different people saying the same thing, "You have an outstanding bill of $98. How do you wish to pay before it goes into collection?" I am like, "Excuse me, collection?" Again, I requested a manager to call me. I received a call yesterday from yet another different person repeating the same line. Again, I requested a manager to call me. Finally today, a so-called manager called me asking, "What can he do for me?" I'm thinking, "Have you not read any notes on my file?"
I yet again for the sixth time explained the last conversations I have had with numerous people and his reply was: "We have no record of you calling on 06/01/2012." I have my Vonage records to prove this. "We have no record of the conversation." I know I called to cancel! "You called on 07/10/2012 to cancel." Correct. "Your contract runs from June to May." Not June? So why when I called on 06/01/2010 to cancel was I told I had one service left yet and to call back after it was done and now I am being charged for it? "So ma'am, how do you wish to pay before it goes into collections?" I am fuming at this point. He still does not see where I am coming from and he is a manager? Whatever happened to working with your customers?
In the end, I paid it (which galled me and still fuming over it). But the only reason I paid this is my credit score is excellent and I was not going to let Terminix screw that up the way they have screwed all this up. I will never use Terminix again! I will never recommend Terminix again! Terminix who?

I just discovered that I was told by my local sales rep that I could finance our bed bug treatment ($2,000 over six months). After repeated bills for the entire amount due and calls to their billing side, I've just been informed that Terminix does not finance bed bug treatments. I have been a loyal customer for five years, but I just fired them. If you can pay upfront, fine. But do not trust the sales people! It is now October 2012, and I've been dealing with this situation since June 2012. I've made calls. Everything I've said has been documented in their system. No one was willing to help me until I threatened to cancel my quarterly service. Too late, folks. Terminix, your internal communication issues are not my problem.

I called Terminix and made an appointment for a no charge initial visit to determine what type of pest I have, how bad the infestation is and what my options for treatment were. We had an appointment for Oct. 4th between 1-5PM. I took off from work for the afternoon and waited at home. By 4:15PM, I called and asked if the serviceman was on his way. I was told that my appointment was cancelled and they didn't need to visit, they can just quote me over the phone. $213 for the initial treatment and $105 quarterly. The customer service person began giving me the spiel about how they kill all types of pests and use "environmentally-friendly products".
I am angry. When they decided not to come, they should have called me. I don't want to kill every living thing in my house, just the pests. When I asked specifically about the chemicals and application techniques, I did not get an acceptable answer. They treated me like I was stupid and why should they come by to review the situation when they can kill everything. Sounds like indiscriminate use of pesticides to me. When I asked about the safety of the chemicals, the agent said they can't provide MSDS or other safety information. What crap!
Poor customer service. They want a commitment to purchase before they even examine the situation. They want to apply treatments without informing me of the safety aspects - just let us spray and leave. This stupid customer is going elsewhere and spending her money on another service. Don't deal with Terminix. They have poor customer service. Go elsewhere. Thank you.

I am a real estate broker for a longtime and Terminix customer. My client has been under warranty for over ten years with the company and when their home was sold, the buyer's inspection found termite damage. Terminix fixed it but would not supply the written documentation needed by the mortgage company. When I went to the offices today, they told me that the only people who could give me what I needed were on appointments and would be back later. I said I would wait and shortly thereafter, was told by another employee that neither would be back - one was out town and the other did not work in that office. After 2 hours, they told me I would get nothing in writing and to leave the office. I have been a realtor for 35 years and there is a reason I have never recommended them to my clients and never will in the future.

Terminix emailed me a bill for $78 on August 1, 2012. I called them that day to let them know that no service had been done because I had been home. I demanded to speak to a supervisor - my name and number was taken. I have yet to receive a call from the supervisor, and Terminix is still trying to collect $78 for a fraudulent charge. As of today, Sept 14, 2012, Terminix sent me a past due notice for 07/31/2012 of $78. This is the way they treat their customer of 4 years with 2 homes. They just lost this 2-home account!

I bought a house in Florida 2 years ago, got a contract with Terminix. This June 2012, I saw bugs which I assumed were termites in the bathroom but being from up north, I wasn't sure. I called and was told everyone was seeing termites as it was their swarming season, not to worry, but if I saw them in a month or so to call again. They were still around so I called. I was told I had to get an inspection, so I scheduled an inspection, only to have my bug guy come who told me he didn't do or know anything about termites.
He took a specimen and said he would get back to me and did. He said it appeared to be termites, but to wait a couple of weeks to see if they disappeared. They didn't disappear, so I called again. Terminix sent my bug guy again, who said he would call the office and make sure they sent the termite guy as they had verified it was termites. The bug guy called the office who set up another inspection. This time the "inspector" came with bug spray and sprayed, saying he might not have gotten them all, to wait several weeks and if they were still appearing to call the office for another appointment.
I didn't see any for about 2 weeks. Then they started to reappear again. I called the office. I told them when the last "inspector" came, he sprayed for termites saying if they returned, to call and schedule another appointment. The website was broken so I couldn't do it myself, so I called the local office. I had an appointment an hour or so ago. Two inspectors came, this time verifying yes, I did have termites but they weren't the ones doing the spraying, I needed another appointment. When the corporate office called to verify previous to the appointment for an inspector, I emphatically told them that I did not need yet another inspector; I needed a followup treatment!
I lost it when these inspectors came in again to tell me the specimen of termites, one of which was still roaming around in the plastic bag, was a termite and I needed treatment. In my experience, I would not recommend Terminix to anyone.

Terminix's overall failure to comply with their obligations - My husband decided a couple of years ago that he would allow Terminix to come and inspect our house for free to verify if we qualified for their Termite Insurance Plan. We were inspected, which involved Terminix checking inside and every inch outside of our house, with any sign of termites or "old" termite damage. In this inspection, the inspector had to draw out the dimensions of our house exactly and write and mark on that drawing where, if any, old damage was. There was one place that was marked on the drawing that had old damage and it was in our den. My husband and I were aware of this old damage. My husband and I recently hired a contractor to replace the floor in the den for the old damage, which we paid for ourselves. We also hired them to remodel the tiling in our shower area.
When they tore the walls down, there were active termites. I have pictures of the termites moving their larvae. We immediately called Terminix because our contractors informed us that they could not continue with the remodel until this situation was resolved, which Terminix advised us of the same. Terminix's policy states that they will have a solution to your problem within 24 hours and that you will never have to pay for any future damage or termites. It was more than 24 hours before they sent a crew out to treat the live activity. The inspector named Terri explained to me that, "Your husband and you might want to pull the tub and check the floor for more termite damage." I explained to him that my husband and I would not be doing anything of the sort, that the contractor for Terminix would and should be doing that according to the policy we had.
He explained that we should be getting a phone call from the contractor by the next day to set up a time to come and inspect the damage to give Terminix an estimate. By 3:00 the next afternoon, we had not heard from Terminix or the contractor. Finally the next morning, about 10:30, the contractor showed up at the house. He was in my bathroom for maybe 20 seconds, didn't test any of the other boards around the obviously damaged area and didn't go under the house to view the floor under the bathroom. I mentioned to him what Terri from Terminix had stated while he was here about pulling the tub and the floor. He advised me that he would call and speak with Terri and then make an estimate. I asked him how he could give an accurate estimate if he wasn't going to test any other wood for damage until he came back to do the work.
He said he wasn't worried about it, that he charges Terminix the highest amount possible because he knows he will get paid. He advised me that after he called Terri, he would call my husband to let us know if the estimate was under or over a thousand dollars, as this would effect the amount of time it takes to be approved by Terminix. Once again, my husband never received a phone call. I called Terminix and complained again, explaining again that this was an emergency due to the fact that we were not able to use the bath or shower, and we have four kids! We just wanted their people to do what they themselves said they were going to do. I had also documented every conversation I had with anyone from Terminix up to this point.
My husband received a phone call that evening from the contractor, who informed my husband that he would be at our house the next day anywhere from 8:30 to 1:30 to repair the damage. He informed my husband that he would just be replacing two boards and that's all and it would only take him 30 minutes, and that "You and your wife can do whatever you want after that." My husband informed him that once he arrives at the house, I am going to have our contractors come to the house as well and when he is done "repairing" the damage, he has to sign off on it. Then our contractors are going in behind him to inspect if there is any further damage that was missed and if there is, we will be suing Terminix and him. He was very upset at this and explained that if our contractors find any more damage after he is done, just to call him and he would come back and fix it! Unbelievable!
The next morning, when the contractor was supposed to show, my husband received a call from the local manager and he explained that the contractor had put our job on "hold." Basically, he backed out of the job. My husband explained the hardship that we had been facing due to the fact that nothing was being done in a timely manner and that we had no shower or tub, etc., and that he was definitely contacting a lawyer. He asked my husband if our contractor would be willing to do the work and if so, he could send him an estimate that day because he was going on a vacation the next day and wouldn't be back until the following Monday. Our contractor agreed to this and left the job he was on to come and inspect the bathroom.
As we thought, they pulled the tub and there were several other boards in the surrounding area that were damaged and there was termite damage on the bathroom floor, which meant the floor would need to be replaced. Our contractor called the local manager himself and asked what exactly he needed to send right then. He was told that he just needed the estimate so he could push it through, which was done. Our contractor called me around 4:30 and told me that the local manager called him back around 4 and advised him that he needed more information before he could submit the estimate. Our contractor was back on the job he had previously left and advised the manager (mark) that he wouldn't be able to get it to him until that evening. Mark told our contractor that he would already be gone on vacation and it would have to wait to be submitted until Monday.
Now it is Monday, going on week three of no bathroom and we still have not heard from anyone from Terminix as to whether or not the estimate was approved. And to top it off, Terri, the first guy who came out with Terminix, called my husband on Friday, having no idea what had transpired since he had been at the home and tried to advise my husband that the damage under the bathroom floor was "old" damage and Terminix would not pay for that. I politely called him back and advised him that when we were approved for this insurance and they came out to check the house, per their own person, the only old damage was in our den, nowhere else in the house. So it was absolutely new, not old damage.
There is much more to this story. I thankfully have everything documented word for word and how this company has lied many times over. Absolutely would never recommend this company to any person ever!

We were told that we could not get service until the following Tuesday due to the labor day holiday. We called back numerous times during that day to stress that the ants were spreading and we needed to have service by Friday. A promise to have a manager call was not kept.
On Friday, we called to report that ants had traveled to the kitchen and upstairs bath and needed to be stopped immediately. No response. By Saturday they were at another point in the kitchen. Now they are on kitchen counters and all over the floor. If they had been treated on Friday, this most likely would not have happened. Each time the bill came, I would have to call in and get it adjusted with comments from the person on the other end stating they made notes in the account so that would not happen again. Then, I called into cancel the service which they did but continued to bill me as they have in very small print that the contract would renew for another year automatically if not cancelled within 30 days after the last payment. First, tech was extremely incompetent and obnoxious. Second tech was actually very good. I most definitely would not use this company ever again!

Just Google Terminix complaints, as I wish I had and just maybe I could have saved thousands in damages. After paying thousands for over 15 years for protection they didn't provide, finally I found what thousands of previous customers have also learned. Terminix frequently will not stand behind their Total Satisfaction Guarantee. Terminix maintains a countrywide full time staff of lawyers that strive to dodge any reasonable measure of responsibility for their claims of Total Protection and Strongest Warranty in the Industry.
Once a customer discovers their home has significant damage, Terminix has a proven history (as if from a script) of dragging their heels before addressing the issue, then offering some small penance of patch work to cover the often times extensive damage to the structure. Once the customer finally catches on to what is happening, Terminix often just walks off the job (as was the case with my home after they had a crew of migrant farm workers (non-skilled handymen, half of whom were undocumented and none of which had any workers comp insurance) gut my home over a period of six months.
A week before Christmas, they walked off the job leaving my family and me with no running water inside the house, no working bathroom or kitchen. Several walls were exposed where they removed all the insulation and cold air was blowing through. This has been our worst nightmare. When you take the time to read the thousands of other consumers with almost identical complaints, I feel relatively certain you will think again before allowing this organization in your home. I hired Terminix for bed bug removal in August of 2011. I paid $2,100 to have my entire two-family home treated. Since then, I have had 8 treatments! Almost a year later, the issue still lingers in my daughters' room. After I initially discovered the problem in my bedroom, kids' room, and living room, I threw everything away. I replaced all the mattresses and box springs and purchased encasements. I replaced my living room furniture as well. I have become a freak about this issue, constantly checking and rechecking, and examining everything.
My 3-year-old continues to be eaten alive by these bugs. Back in February, they charged me an additional $1,000, saying that my warranty window had expired. I had to beg them to send an inspector to my home. They told me it sounded like I knew what I was talking about so there was no point. I had not been seeing the tell-tale signs of bed bug (no black spot, molted shells, blood smears), so I needed the "expert" to come and look around to see where else they would be hiding. When they eventually showed up, they accused my daughter of continually bringing the bugs back into the house from school because they didn't see anything and it was unusual to have to treat so many times. Too bad she doesn't even go to school! Not too long after the February treatment, she was covered in bites again.
After tearing the bunk beds apart, I discovered yet another nest underneath the wooden slats that the mattress sits on. I contacted Terminix again, and they sent a supervisor along with the technician for inspection. The tech had been to my home twice before, so I asked if he ever treated under the slats. He said nothing. I asked the supervisor if it was a coincidence that the bugs were now hiding out in the only place that had never been treated. He did not disagree. At that time, I made the argument that I probably would not have had to pay the additional $1,000 had those slats been sprayed front and back and demanded a refund. I was originally told they would be happy to give me half. I told them it was unacceptable. The supervisor then told me I should contact the Commercial division, rather than their residential division, because they were responsible for the initial treatments and it would be the right thing to do.
Can you imagine? I was supposed to mediate the two departments. Not my place or problem. I eventually received the refund in full. Lo and behold, when dressing my toddler this morning, I discovered more bites and found 2 adult bugs and 2 smaller ones under her mattress pad. The new bed is riddled with black dropping marks. I contacted Terminix and they told me I have to wait until Monday to talk to someone about this. My experience tells me that it will be at least one more week until someone gets here to treat. I am beside myself. I have serious anxiety related to this issue and am in the process of bagging $500 worth of bedding for the trash. I already threw away the $400 rug. The bunk bed unit is likely to be next. This issue has cost so much more than the $2,100 paid back in August of 2011. Help!

We had fire ants invading our new home and had noticed Terminix stickers on the electrical meter outside so we gave them a call. The people I first talked to were really polite and helpful. We decided to go with their service since the previous owner used them even though it was quite a bit more than other quotes we had received. When I called back to authorize the service, it rang about a dozen times and the lady answered in a very "frazzled" manner. I explained to her what we wanted and her only reply was "you'll have to contact your local office." "Ma’am, this is a local number and the number I received help from yesterday." "Your local office will contact you then." Then she hung up. Needless to say, we decided against using them.

Terminix cancelled three consecutive appointments and then showed up completely unannounced. The serviceman did our entire 4000 sq. ft. house (inside and outside!) in under 20 minutes and swore he'd been thorough. Yeah, right. They wouldn't even schedule a visit to our summer cottage because it doesn't have an official mailing address. I'm surprised they're able to stay in business.

I am a licensed Real Estate Broker. I deal with termite companies all the time. But this is the final time I will ever use or recommend Terminix. They have proven to be completely unreliable. I have called twice a day for the past week trying to get a copy of the inspection they did on my client's property. They are polite on the phone but unable to locate the report or, in fact, send it to me by email, fax or overnight shipment. I have an escrow closing this Friday. I ordered the inspection two weeks ago. I have nothing and it's now Tuesday night before the 4th of July. There is no way they can resolve their mess. I will take this into my own hands and call my own local termite company that I highly recommend (O'Curra Termite) and have them do the work. I initially noticed that we had bed bugs in our apartment two months ago. Unfortunately, it was on a weekend when I initially found out, so I had to let my landlord know on the Monday after I found out. I also noticed rashes all over me and my infant son, and notified both landlord and Terminix. Terminix did come, did inspection, and sprayed the whole apartment. I noticed after the initial treatment that we were still getting bed begs in our apartment and had to contact the landlord again to have her contact Terminix again to spray. The second time, Terminix only sprayed our bed. I left for vacation for a month to spend time with my husband who's currently deployed and noticed we had bed bugs all over the apartment again and contacted landlord again.
It was pulling teeth to get Terminix to schedule for another treatment, especially since our apartment is considered uninhabitable, which forced me, my infant son and our dog to have to stay in a hotel. I had to take my infant son to the doc since he's been bitten by bed bugs and had rashes due to bed bugs. Terminix didn't treat the apartment because they thought they heard our dog barking when they knocked on the door and also didn't notify the landlord that they showed up so that they can get the key to treat the place and had to reschedule for treatment. I'm very disappointed as to how Terminix is handling the issue and not handling the issue in a proper manner. I hope that in the future, they will take the issue more seriously.

To add insult to injury, the tech had a falsified report showing he had come. Of course, my signature was not available. Fraud. I asked for a complete refund as per their guarantee of all money paid to them. Who is to say the termite service was ever done? Again, I was promised a return call from a supervisor. Nothing, nada. A year ago, I contacted Terminix to get rid of rats in my attic. They assured me they would do so. I paid $500.00. They came and for the most part, they stuffed steel wool in potential entries for the critters and the larger entries were covered with wire mesh. This all took them about one hour of time. They said I may have access in my garage, but that I would have to search for that because my garage was full of cupboards. My sons and I proceeded to do just that and following Terminix's lead, stuffed steel wool in the small crevices and wire mesh over the others, a task which was monumental to say the least. Then, I didn't hear from them until I called. They did no follow-up service nor did they intend to. The joke is, the rats pull out the steel wool and go on their merry way, re-entering my attic! Then if your wait to call them back exceeds their time frame, you are out of luck and have to start over! What kind of joke is this? Now I am out $500 and I still have rats! They will be lost in contracts with hidden words, talked into services they don't need, ripped off, and sent a different tech every time who always said, "Don't know, ma'am. I'm just a tech." And finally, the infestations of the original problem will never get solved - thousands of leg bugs which actually got bigger and fatter - by the time Terminix was "done" treating the problem. Did I mention no one ever calls you back, no matter how many messages you leave on their main number (They don't give out the branch number.)? I feel like I'm Alice in Wonderland with bugs around me. We have vacation rentals. After one of our guests brought in bed bugs, we immediately brought in Terminex, no expense spared, to deal with the problem. They did not resolve the problem; the infestation continued and their visits continued. During the last episode, we were told that our guests keep bringing them in, which I find strange because during the last 3 months of "off season," we have had no guests and Terminex has been there several times. We pleaded with them to deal with the problem, because our rental season was starting and we could not have a problem like this. This week they, once again, left a note stating that they had treated the unit and that this time, with a chemical "guaranteed" kill-them-all.
We got a call at about 6:00 PM last night from a Terminex technician stating that he wanted to come over sometime today and treat the unit. We asked why we had been notified when he had already completed the treatment, and he could not give a coherent answer. We had our first guest of the season last night. We got a call from them at 1:30 AM that they were being eaten alive by bed bugs. We sent our property manager over at 2:00 AM, and she reported that they were everywhere - on the beds, on the furniture, and crawling all over the walls. She also reported that the problem has spread to other units in the building. We have asked to speak with a supervisor or manager and have not gotten a call back as promised.
We called this morning and were told that we would have to wait until they could fit us into their schedule to look at the problem. I called their national number to see if I could get them to motivate their local franchise and got a very lackluster response: "We'll have a manager call you back." They asked if I wanted my money back; I told them I just wanted the problem solved ASAP. The lack of their ability to deal with this problem is unacceptable. They do not seem to understand or care that if this issue hits our reviews, we will lose our rentals, our income, and our property. Any money they refund will not begin to cover our losses. We have just refunded the money for the current rental, which is more than we paid to Terminex. I should also mention that the ant problem, which we paid them to resolve, has not gotten better either. What kind of an outfit is this?

I have had the Terminix Ultimate Protection Guarantee for the last 14 years. We originally started the plan because the out back porch was destroyed by termites. The entire back porch was rebuilt and then Terminix inspected the house, the porch, and issued a repair contract. Now, 14 years later, I am remodeling and I find massive termite damage on the porch, which has resulted in my rebuilding of two walls. These are walls that I know for a fact, were rebuilt prior to starting the coverage with Terminix, because I rebuilt them.
Now, Terminix says, "Since you have no active termites, you are not covered." You actually need to find the termites in action, or you will receive nothing. I pointed out to the branch manager that they have documentation that the porch was rebuilt, and that the damage had to have occurred while I was under contract. They still refuse to do anything.
At this point, I have rebuilt the walls at my own expense, and all I really want is Terminix to cover the cost of the materials (which is less than 1 year service charge), they refused. I don’t know who runs this dump of a company, but it seems to me that paying out less than 1 year service charges to keep a 14 year customer would make sense. Instead, I will be cancelling my service, since I have only paid for it to ensure I had the "Ultimate Protection Guarantee". Raccoon/Squirrel Removal & Structural Repair - Terminix was contracted to remove raccoons from the house and make the necessary repairs to prevent further animal entry using appropriate materials. On 03/09/12, wood siding was torn off the house in two adjacent areas approximating possibly 30-40 square feet in total (this is difficult to estimate with precision). It was explained both at the time of the estimate and at the time of the subsequent supposed repairs that there were openings in other parts of the house (both eaves and the upper rear roof corner) needing to possibly be addressed to prevent animal egress.
We were told there was no evidence of raccoons but only signs of squirrels (we have a history of raccoons trapped and are familiar with their noise and fresh fecal matter). Terminix insisted that only squirrels were present and removed my large raccoon-size Havahart trap and took it away with them. We protested that they would trap animals within the house if they did not trap and evacuate them before finalizing repairs. I had concerns and expressed to them that they were not sufficiently taking the scope of the evacuation and repair problem seriously and had perhaps left themselves vulnerable contractually to rid the house of the animals.
Wire mesh was attached by Terminix staff to only the rear portion of the lower garage near the rear door and underside of the garage roof near the rear door. The house was left in this state with no attempt to replace siding. The contract specified repair and appropriate materials, yet animal activity was still heard on Saturday evening, 03/10/12, throughout the house.
We called again and were told that we had to call on a business weekday. Terminix was contacted by telephone every single weekday afterward at the same national number we had previously used (except for Friday, 03/23/12) to explain daily that there are still animals in the house evidenced by the sound overhead in the ceilings throughout the house and by the fresh fecal matter left behind (raccoon feces is large and unmistakeable).
Messages were left explaining the circumstances and asking that someone return the calls and/or revisit to address the issues. Not a single call has been returned. Issues cannot be reported on the national website. I only consistently receive a message that issues cannot be posted there at this time, despite seeming provision for this on the national site.
They simply will not respond in any fashion (three phone numbers are available to them on our website profile), and I, unfortunately, feel that I have no recourse but to issue a formal complaint. All the individuals working on the house have worn the Terminix uniform and have provided us Terminix contracts guaranteeing termite control, and in this instance, animal evacuation and structural repair. They have cashed the two associated checks for the animal evacuation and home repair.
We live with a stroke-disabled senior and several dogs and cats who would be vulnerable to assault by rabid raccoons and/or squirrels. I would like the provisions of the contract honored and the house rid of the raccoons and squirrels still inhabiting it from the time of the intervention two weeks ago. We have not had any problems with the termite control contracted two months ago for a one-year period. I hope there will not be similar problems with the termite control contracted with Terminix, but I am losing faith when a major national company utterly refuses to respond to concerns. Your help is needed.

At that point, I was getting a bit frustrated with their scheduling and now, for sure, with their lack of customer service. I did respond "Yes, if we are still home."
Well, at 5:12 pm, I called them and got a California call center. The lady looked into it and told me that they had tried to contact me but that I hung up on them. I received no notice that my service was to be renewed. I am now stuck with a bill for a service I did not want. Hiding the detail in the fine print and giving no courtesy notice that the contract automatically renews is a dirty trick. I doubt that I am the only person that did not remember to make a cancellation after a full year had passed. I feel cheated, especially since no one seemed to care at all when I called the local and the corporate offices. Their attitude in both cases was "tough luck". I regret ever having anything to do with this company.

I owe no money yet they cancelled my account without notice because I do not wish to have them take money from my credit card automatically.
My daughter, living in the same city, is not required to have money taken from her credit card. I am supposed to have the Ultimate Protection Plan but have had no internal inspection since October 2010. I found that they had cancelled my account and I called to ask why I had no internal inspection since 2010! As yet, I do not know the consequences!

I have been with Terminix for 2 years. During this time, I have had to call constantly to reschedule my appointment, because your employees automatically schedule the appointment during the week, when I am not home. I called back, and asked the customer service rep, to put a note on the file, to only come on Saturdays, when I'm here. After having to go through this about 10 or so times, my husband and I decided to find another company. We were not happy with the service. A lady (whom I know you have her name on the account, and no, I did not save her voice mail) from your retentions dept. called me 3 times, and quoted $70.00. The reason for us speaking multiple times, and for her voice mail message was, because I told her the price was much better, but I am unhappy with the service as well. I shouldn't have to keep calling the toll free number, waiting on hold, and repeating myself. Also the product, we still see the same bugs, the day after our house is sprayed. My husband and I discussed the conversations I had with the lady representative, and that she quote me a lower amount of $70.00. Then, I received a call from Matthew. He tried to talk me out of cancelling. I told him the lady rep offered me the lower price of $70.00 but I also am unhappy with the service.
He advised me he would send out a supervisor the next time, if I would give them a chance. I told him, "fine, we will try it again". I believe the scheduled date was 1/21 between the hours of 8AM and 10 AM, or 9AM to 11AM. I can't totally remember the hours. Snow started to fall, lasting an hour or less. I got up early to take my kids to their dads at 730AM, an hour before he was allowed to have them, so I could be back in time for Terminix. The representative called me to say the roads are bad, and he wasn't coming. Okay, 1st strike, the roads were not bad anywhere. I just came back from driving 10 miles, and they weren't even dusted. A supervisor was supposed to come (per Matthew). I said reschedule. The next Saturday morning, I received a call from Terminix, saying he was on the way, and he was on the schedule. I said, "funny, I'm glad I'm home, because no one called me to schedule it". He gives me the bill (folded and clipped, so I couldn't see the price), and then asked me to sign the electronic thing, which I did. That was a done deal.
Once I received the actual bill from Terminix in the mail, I called your office to complain about. Not only was it not $70.00, but it's now $124.00, which is more than the normal $119.00. I talked with a representative, who said she would have a manager call me. A manager didn't call, but Matthew did. He advised me he never quoted that price. I said I didn't say you did, I said the lady he called 3 times trying to talk me out of it did. When I talked with you, I told you what she quoted me, and I agreed to stay, because you also said a supervisor would come out.

We have had Terminix termite service since we bought our house. For 30 years, we have paid and paid and paid. The first time Terminix found termite damage, they replaced 1 exterior wall in the home. So apparently, termites were in the home and there was damage (5 years ago). Terminix supposedly did a thorough inspection of the home and said all is well. Five years later, we are tearing down dry wall to remodel the home and find more damage and much worse. Had we not started to tear out walls we would have never found the damage. This is new damage, and covered under our contract, yet Terminix will not replace any of the damage. If their services were so ultimate protection, why do we have such extensive damage? Why does Terminix say it's not their responsibility? Why are they not upholding their contract? I'm seeking a lawyer.

My husband and I discovered that part of the wood around our kitchen window had been eaten away from the inside and there were some type of droppings consistently accumulating on the windowsill. We were afraid of a termite infestation and called Terminix to come out and perform a free inspection. From the moment the inspector got into my home, I felt that he was pushy and "shmoozy" but I decided to give it a chance. He inspected my home and found no signs of termite infestation in the basement, the walls or anywhere else he looked. However, when I showed him my window he said it was termite activity and wrote down in his report that he'd seen termite activity.
He then proceeded the hard sell. He was trying to sell me insulation as well, and quoted me a price of about $2,000. He gave me financing options, and it wasn't until I directly asked that he admitted there was an 18% interest charge on the financing. I told him over and over again I had to speak to my husband first, but he wanted to set up an appointment as a placeholder so we could get the work done if we decided to do it. I agreed, and he had me sign this little electronic pad he had to check if I was eligible for the financing and hold the date. Then he went out to his car and printed out the paperwork and left it on my kitchen table. Right after he left I got a message on my phone from his manager saying that they couldn't do the date we had selected (which was 5 days out) and he had put my job on the books for the next morning. He said if he didn't hear from me he would assume that was ok. Seriously? I called the number he gave me and it was a generic number for Terminix, so I couldn't reach him directly. I called the guy who had set up the date for me, and he was very pushy about wanting to get the job in. I became uncomfortable and restated that I wanted to talk to my husband first. He said ok.
Upon reading the paperwork that evening I discovered several things. First, I had apparently signed a contract saying that they would do the work! I was shocked. I know I was at fault for not asking more questions about what I was signing, but he had me sign a little electronic pad with no visible instructions or paragraphs, and he didn't even tell me that I was signing a contract! There was a cancellation form, but you had to deliver it to the head office (which was 60 miles away) within 3 days. I was furious. I had told him I still needed approval from my husband, so why would he think I was okay with signing a contract? Second, he had told me numerous times during his spiel that Terminix would cover any reoccurrence of the termites, but he never even mentioned that I would have to pay a yearly fee of $225 for that protection service.
I called the Terminix number immediately to voice my frustration, only to discover that I was also still on the books for the job the next morning even though I'd told him I couldn't do that! And they said they didn't know if they could cancel it because it was after 9 pm. Needless to say, I spent a somewhat sleepless night, and my husband was forced to drive my cancellation form all the way to their main office the next day.
Today I had a guy from JP, Erlich, come out and he told me within one minute that the damage at my window was from carpenter ants. He explained why he knew that, and quoted me a price of $275 to treat it, which was much lower than the $2,000 plan Terminix was trying to push on me! I was so mad when he left because I realized that the Terminix guy was either not skilled enough to even identify the pest problem I had or was outright misleading, lying to me to try to sell me expensive services. You draw your own conclusions, but based on his shady behavior all around I have a suspicion. So, in the end we have ants, not termites. We will never do any business with Terminix again. We’re relieved that we did not give them a dime.

In 2009, I was getting bitten by what I believed to be spiders or mosquitoes. In 2010, I decided to call Terminix, because they advertised a free consultation. When the consultant came to my home to inspect, he told me it was bedbugs, but not to worry, Terminix will get rid of all of them in one service. All I had to do was prep my home before they arrived, which I did. I was told I could keep all of my furniture.
They would need to spray down everything, even my couch. So I bought into the scam. I purchased bed protectors for 2 beds and box spring. After the initial treatment, I was still getting bitten, so I called Terminix, and they assured me someone will be out to spray again. After having to play phone tag with them for a week, they sent the same person to exterminate. Next day, I woke up with bites on my face, and when I went to use my laptop, I noticed a bed bug crawling on my arm, so I put it in a zip lock bag, and called Terminix.
They did come out, but this was the last free service I was to receive from them. My issue with the whole situation is that, I had never seen or heard about bed bugs, until I moved into this apartment. The consultant should not have told me that it would only take 1 service, and the bed bugs will be gone for good. I am still suffering from bed bugs, and now I am very cautious on who I give my money to. I spent $945.00, and I ended up throwing everything away, and still continue to get bitten by bed bugs.

She then got back in her truck and left! My car was in the garage; therefore, I guess she assumed no one was home. Started service with a company called Servicepro. Servicepro on the 2nd round, came out and broke my china and crystal. The rep was a young guy and I was extremely understanding as things do happen, however, it is crystal and china, so the rep wrote out exactly what happened, left a copy for me and took copy to his office. Bill the manager (very nice guy), contacted me and told me he would try to resolve as soon as possible. He could not do anything, however, would transfer to the director. Gave the director my contact info, including phone number and email. Never heard from him, then this company got bought out by Terminix. Contacted Terminix to find out Bill was no longer manager, but a gentleman named Dave. Left a few messages for him, he never returned my call.
In the meantime they would send me bills every couple of months saying I owed them money. I would call, tell the person what the situation was and they would say ok, the documentation was there and fine. However, they stopped coming out and at the time I was willing to work with them. Finally my frustration set in and I contacted the HQ, they listened and then promised me that the local manager Dave would call me in 24-48. Heard from him a month and a half later, he had left a message, however, unfortunately I was out of the country. When I got back I called him, he still to this day has never returned my call and I have called a few times for him.
Two weeks ago, I got an email stating my credit report had changed, come to find out, that Terminix, turned me over to a collections agency for $135. In the meantime, they have never called me back. Never tried to settle the problem (although, I do have the documentation from the rep stating what had happened). At the time had given all info to prior manager, concerning cost of China etc, so everything is documented.
I have recently listed a complaint with BBB and I will continue to do what I need to do to get this resolved if they continue to not communicate with me. I will see this through to the end, as they have shown poor customer service, malicious intent and damage to my person.

I was a customer of there's from 2003. They changed names and that’s where it went down hill. I called them because I had rats and asked if they over that. They said yes, they would come out to set traps and walk the perimeter and find the ways they were getting in to fix the problems. The guy showed up with one trap and no there’s bait in the trap. Then he said ok and he was leaving. I was like excuse me? I told him what they told me they would do and he said, "Oh, no, we don’t do that. That’s extra. I said that is not what the guy said on the phone.
So we called and I told the lady on the phone what happened and she said sorry, we don’t do that. Needles to say, I was very upset because I cancelled the other company that I had coming out. Why should I suffer because the guy on the phone does not know what he was talking about? I told them I would not use them anymore. I got home and found a paper in my door saying they sprayed for bugs. I called them and asked why they would send someone out? They said they did not have that in their computer because I cancelled. The best part is I don’t know how they sprayed—my gate was locked.
They would come when no one was home, like who knows if they ever sprayed. I called to cancel my cc payment for the year I paid because I did not trust them anymore and I prepaid for the year. They never called or sent a bill but they just sent me to collections. I explained to the guy what was happening. I have called at least 10 times to ask for a bill on what I owe them for two sprays because that is all I owe them. They tell me $225.
Really? How could that be when the whole year is $270. No one will send a bill. Then I called and two people I spoke to said I don’t owe anything. Then they tell me to call my local office and I do and I get someone in in another state. Very unprofessional. Again, no one will send me a bill not even the collection agency. So until I get a bill and someone will talk to me that can make any sense out of this—why some are saying I owe nothing and some are saying three and some don’t know?
I have never dealt with such a unprofessional place that has no regard for customer service. I do not owe tem for three sprays and I will not allow them to bully me into paying them. They threaten me with collections because I don’t owe them $225. They are a bunch of thieves and I want to take me out of collection and I want all my money back. They lied to me on the coverage and then sent a guy out with one trap with no bait. They should be sued.

Basically, they scammed me out of $1500. Long story short, I contacted national Terminex and they told me to deal directly with the branch in question, who refused to help me. Interestingly, I ended up meeting a woman who used to work for them (at a different branch) and she told me that there is no way to truly get rid of termites. This is for some advice from a former Terminix service manager. Having been in the pest control industry for some years, in 2005, I moved to a new state. For the short-term, I had to settle for working at one of the largest pest control operators (Terminix or Orkin). It was because, as everyone in the industry knows, they are always hiring due to a pushy, relentless sales force and massive employee turnover.
Within the industry, Terminix is known as a company that deals in volume, not quality. They hire tons of people (mostly as field technicians). They don't train them very well at all. They are teaching them how to answer just the questions that they will be tested on by the state, where they will be working, so that they will pass the pest control operator exam and get their license. And they send them out to work a route as soon as possible. You can be pretty sure that unless your technician has been in the business for more than 3 years, he doesn't know much of anything about how to get rid of pests. In the industry we call this the "spray and pray" technique. And, because Terminix is not a good company to work for, very rarely do technicians last 3 years.
Now, each Terminix branch has a branch manager. He is in charge of the service managers and the technicians. And he is the one who needs to find clever ways to deny your claim, that the termite damage you have in your home is their fault because they didn't find it or treat it properly. He also spends a great deal of time being harassed by the district manager for not making enough money per hour for the branch. Because of the pressure he's getting from above, the branch manager takes it out on the service managers who are in charge of the route technicians (the guys who come to your house). He'll tell the service managers to have the technicians shorten the amount of time they spend at their stops in order to increase the incoming dollars per hour. The more stops they do in an hour, the more Terminix makes. This, of course, is not a very good sign that you will be the recipient of quality inspection and pest control treatment.
You see, in order for a pest control technician to do a good job, he needs to do a thorough inspection first, not just whip through your house, spraying the baseboards, and getting your signature. He needs to spend time up front to take his flashlight and inspect the hidden areas for pest infestation. He needs to get under the cabinets, look under and behind the refrigerator and stove, and check the compartments of your electronics (microwave, blender, coffee maker) for roaches. He needs to check the drains for fly larva. He needs to get in your basement, in your crawlspace, and in your attic. He needs to circle your house outside slowly to check for rodent entry points etc. You see, pests don't often live out in the open where they can be seen (and if you can see roaches out in the open, then you've already got a huge problem, but that's another story).
The branch manager will also push the service managers very hard to reduce the amount of pesticides that are doled out to the technicians for use in the field, because pesticides cost big money. The branch manager wants to keep his overhead down and so he will have as little of it on hand as possible, and will be very stingy about handing it out. As a result, the technicians are often out on their routes with the bare minimum amount (and often less) of tools with which to fight an insect or rodent infestation. Many times they won't have any of the material required to do a proper job.
When he's done with the service managers, the branch manager will then hammer the sales staff about selling more new accounts and upgrading existing ones. He will call them to account for completing a certain amount of termite inspections per week and then ask them why they didn't sell each and every one of those customers on a termite job, even if they have no termites. The intent to sell you service you don't need is very real and it's how they make most of their money.
Also, as an aside, never buy termite bait station service. Termite bait stations do not work. They “can” work if the termites happen to be near the bait station, and happen to be hungry. But often the termites will cruise right by the bait stations. The word "bait" implies that bait stations draw the termites to them. This is not the case at all, and so the word "bait" is really not accurate. At best it's a hit-and-miss proposition. It's better to have your house surrounded with pesticide pumped into the ground and allowed to seep into your foundation as well.
The bottom line is that you are better off going to a smaller pest control operation. Look for a small company, or even a single person, where the PCOs (pest control operators) have been in the business for many years and know what they're doing. They will usually shoot straight with you. And they will almost certainly spend enough time inspecting and treating your home to do a proper job of it. I cannot stress this enough. Stay away from Terminix!

This was not the first time I had been told yes as when I started the service and was asking all that it covered they said if I had a bee problem to call them and they would be right out to take care of.
We set an appointment for yesterday between set hours, at the end of the set hours I called customer service and they said they did not see in the computer system why a tech did not show up so the supervisor would have to call me the following day as they were gone for the day.
Next day I still did not hear from anyone so I called at 3:00pm to inquire why, the customer service rep said they were all in a meeting and I would most likely hear from them the next day (day3). She then informed me that it will depend on what type of bee and asked me to identify them, as if I was a bee expert.
I cannot believe that they can get away with this and even question if they were performing the service that I was charged for. I still have not received a call and now I am looking for a company to take care of business. I believe now that the company is misleading and charges for services that they do not perform.
I am allergic to bees and have to take my children out in the dark so as to not stir them up and would have gotten someone out if they would have been honest.

I called for a free inspection of termites and treatment plan. The guy came out and I showed him where there were some types of insect damage on a tree, alongside my house. He did not approach the tree. I asked him if it was termite's damage, he said, "Yea yea and other insects too, you can see where woodpeckers chomped on the tree." I asked him how he knew it because he didn't even look at the tree. He came closer and said that those are termites. I asked him again, how he knew it because he can't see them and can't even test them. He answered, "I just know," then he added that they could do treatment by putting stakes in the foundation and yard.
I asked about the house, if they(termites) did get to the house. He was reluctant, but agreed to look at the house. I told him, "Since the tree is over the roof shouldn't you look at the roof, and he responded by saying, "Oh its fine." I was dumbfounded. He then looked at the basement rafters with a flashlight. He said that he could not see anything but the termites could be between the walls.
I asked him if he had anything to test with and he answered, "Oh now, we can just treat you are suppose to treat every year, anyway." I asked him how much. He goes, "I can give you a discount $899." I wondered because how is he going to give me a discount, without me having a coupon. Well, he said that he is giving me the lowest possible discount to benefit me.
I called my dad who is an exterminator and he told me that the guy is a bunch of nothing. They could put a stake in the ground and it will confirm if I had the termites or not. And he could have looked to see if there was any saw-dust looking damage along the foundation and inside the house. He didn't. This company or employee was not either trained well or he does not know what he is doing.

Terminix is a scam. Because of their national ads and brand recognition, people will sign contracts with confidence, laying out upwards of $500. After you get nothing, they promised and believe the so-called" 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" in all their ads. Consumers believe that and sign with confidence. Then, you call the only telephone number provided, and you will speak to numerous very nice operators. But you will never hear from or see the original person you signed the contract with, who took your money.

This is a terrible scam! They made promises and gave assurances that bees, hornets, and wasps nest would be rendered inscribe and then removed. They instilled confidence so I signed a costly contract. They sent out a kid with an attitude and one can of bug spray for numerous large active nests in eaves, gutters, and attic perimeter of house. He used the one can of spray and left. He never came back to remove the nests, but he cannot remove them anyway. They are just as alive and active as they were before the one can of spray.
They sold me a line of BS. They set it up so that consumers cannot reach technicians to cancel the contract. You get a call center in Tennessee for a NY state problem. Call center dispatchers are nice, but cannot help me with my swarms of bees. They are a complete scam. They take the money, run, and hide.

Terrible rip-off. Terminix's 800 number put me in touch w/ local operator. He came & assessed our extensive bee, wasp & hornet nest in eaves, gutters, attic and other areas of house perimeter. He assured us they had the equipment and ability to solve the problem. Felt confident, we signed contract. What a salesman! A technician showed up with an attitude a mile long, in a polo shirt & khakis, with one can of bug spray. The largest nest is in a hole in the eaves. Before we can have that hole repaired, the very large nest must be treated and removed. When I asked the so-called "technician" why he wasn't going up on a ladder to treat that nest (the biggest one), he told me he sprayed it from the attic. The assessor previously told me that the nest was not accessible from the attic. So, $500 bought us 15 minutes in our attic with one can of bug spray. Nests are just as alive and active as they were before they came. Now, I cannot get a live person, other than a dispatcher on the telephone. Terminix is a scam. They make sure you cannot reach anyone to cancel your contract on time or get a refund to hire someone else. I am contacting BBB and NY Atty. General's office. Do not use Terminix. They are great salesmen but after you sign, they are untouchable.

I called to pay for the bug report they did and was told I'd be called right back by the person I needed to talk to. Three hours later, I called again, got dropped twice, and finally got to the person who was supposed to call me back. He didn't think they had done anything wrong and didn't care.

I have had Terminix for over 30 years both in Florida and in Georgia. In the 20 years in Georgia, I have had many problems with appointments being kept. We have had Mr. Brian ** from Marietta as our technician. In the last few months, they have been trying to service my two properties out of La Grange. I request that the technician call the night before to confirm the appointment in order to ensure access at both locations for inside service. Mr. ** did a perfect job, both in confirming a time and being absolutely on time in servicing both homes. We haven't had that first need for return visits.
Now, they took him away from us and transferred our service to La Grange. I received an e-mail two weeks ago stating that we would have our service on that Thursday. No one called and no one showed so I called yesterday and was told that they serviced us on the outside this past Wednesday. This is not acceptable. We have now set an appointment for tomorrow between 10-12 and I asked that the technician call the night before.
This has not happened before. If tomorrow does not go well, I will cancel our contract for termite and pest control at both properties and find another provider. We absolute wish that Mr. ** (Marietta office) be reassigned to my contracts, it's the only sure thing from Terminix.

I used to work for Terminix in Temple, Texas. While I worked there, I saw many questionable business practices and I had my share of them. I had service with Terminix since I worked there. The technicians would go out and service the outside of my house, as they say, even though my service was strictly inside services. I complained to the manager several times about the poor service that I was receiving but to no avail; the manager wouldn't do anything about it. Believe me, I expected great service since I worked there.
I finally refused to pay the bill until a real service was done on my home and they sent me to collections instead of doing the service right and I have worked there. I dealt with harassment on the job for several months. I also witnessed a salesman sign a contract and a check for a customer without her consent. She was blind and thought he was leaving her pamphlets to go over with family but instead he signed her up for services and filled out and signed her check without her consent. I called Terminix very early the morning of 8/5/11. I explained to the call center in Atlanta that I had a swarm of bees inside my home in the main living area and that I needed someone to come as soon as possible to rectify the situation. I was told that the price was $175 for a one time visit and that she would try to contact my local office to get someone to come out. She explained that someone would come prepared with a "bee suit" and would take great care to insure the safety of my pets (dog and birds) and my family.
Finally, after calling the local office myself, I was given an appointment between 10:00AM and 12:00PM. At 12:20, Hugh ** arrived to assess the situation. He said that they were bees (surprise!) and that he would send someone out the next day to fix the problem. As I was swatting him with my fly swatter to get the bees off of him, I explained that I felt I had been misled and wasted hours waiting for someone to try to sell me a service contract and that this was an emergency. He said they had no opening for that day and the best he could do was 7:00AM of 8/6.
In the meantime, I could "suck the bees up with my vacuum". He also said I should be careful since, as evening approaches, they begin to "swarm" and this could be very dangerous. I told him I had already been stung numerous times and was frightened for my pets and family. He said there was nothing he could do.
How could a company like Terminix leave consumers with a swarm of angry bees and just walk away? Needless to say, I was able to find someone else within one hour who came and fixed the problem.
When I called Terminix to cancel the appointment for 8/6, I was told that her computer did not even show an appointment! That evening someone called from Terminix to confirm my appointment – after I cancelled! Obviously, customer service and Terminix inspectors need to improve their customer service.

I paid a deposit of $200 check #2293 to the rep and he told me there would be a balance due of $800 at time of completion of service.
The technician came and did the job and my husband who was home at the time gave the technician the balance of $800 check #2301. That would have been the end of that. A few weeks later, I started receiving invoices we still owed the $200. I called Mike regarding this and he wrote them a note on the invoice and signed it that we were paid in full.
A few months went by, another bill came we owed $200. I called them on this and they are adamant we owe them the money. I received a call last Friday, July 22 from Juanita (800-537-1476) about the same $200. I tried calling but to no avail. I called again on Monday, July 25, to complain why they are insistent we owe them. She said she would send our account to collections. I checked my register for the month of March, that check was cashed on March 21 for $200. I have called again today, July 27, spoke to someone and she said they will send our account to collections.
What really galls me is they are too lazy to look for the check. Someone probably posted to someone else's account and will not admit it is their mistake in the first place and I refuse to do their dirty work for them. It will cost me $800 plus to change companies. I feel I am trapped.
Also, I called them last year to help with a carpenter bee problem; a man came, and confirmed I had carpenter bees. He told me how to get rid of them. I am a senior citizen, and do not need to be on a ladder, mixing chemicals and applying caulking. I am not in the pest control business.

I'm currently a Terminix customer and pay for services quarterly to my home and feel that the customer service Terminix provides is awful. I manage the number customer service center in the health care industry and feel that the level of service this company provides can be compared to a trip to the dentist to get a root canal.
I'll review my experience with you. I called on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, to schedule an interior appointment because I was experiencing an ant problem in my kitchen. They scheduled an appointment on Saturday, June 25, 2011, from 10 am to 12 pm and guess what, no one showed up. So, here I spent four hours sitting at home on a Saturday (I gave additional time in case the tech was running late).
I then called your company on Monday, June 27, 2011, but something was wrong with your phone lines. I kept getting hung up on or receiving busy signals. I then attempted to call back on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, and finally reached a representative named Chris, who, by the way, did not provide his name when answering the phone. I had to ask for it. He sounded like he just woke up and he asked me for the phone number associated to my account and I provided it then the phone went silent.
Guess what, he placed me on hold without telling me. I thought he hung up on me, so I gave an additional minute and when he finally came back to the line, he asked me for the same information all over again. I explained to him that the tech did not show up on Saturday and that I wanted to reschedule. He asked me for my contact information and stated that he was going to forward to my local office and that they would call me to schedule the appointment. Well, I waited all day and no one called me.
So I called back at 3 pm on June 28 and asked for a supervisor or manager and the woman took my information and said she would send an email to have someone from the local Terminix branch call me back regarding my issues. To date, I have not heard from anyone.
As you can see, my experience has been less than great and here I sit and my kitchen still has ants. I will now try to contact another company to have them come and treat my house, which is a breach of Terminix's contract with me as I have already paid for this service this quarter.
I will be terminating my contract with Terminix. I've been a customer of Terminix company for a few years now and this is not the first time my appointment was blown off. Finally, I still can't figure out how I have ants in the first place when your company supposedly treated the perimeter of my house.

I allowed my brother and sister-in-law with their 5 kids to live in my house in 12/10. After a period of time, I started having insect bites. In 3/11, when they moved out, I discovered all of their belongings covered in bugs that turned out to be bed bugs. I panicked and ripped up all the carpeting from my house and had the hardwood floors refurnished.
I called Terminix and they sent a tech out to my house during the first part of April. The tech assured me that they handle things like this all the time and usually, one treatment is all you need. They had me bag up everything that could be laundered and wash it at the laundry mat. They asked me to take my pictures off the wall and stated they would treat them, too. My first visit lasted only 2 hours (I have a 1,500 sq. ft. home).
I left my debit card information with the man and told him that I would need to pull the money from my savings account; and he stated, "That's fine. We can call before we charge it." Within two weeks, I was having bed bug bites again and was seeing the actual bugs. I called back and they sent a different representative out. He came in and treated one room.
Within one week, we were having the same issues again. It took them a week to come out and spray. Still at this time (mid-April), my account had never been charged. I bought new furniture and threw away a lot of belongings, thinking that it might help the problem. The guy came back and just kept repeating, "I don't see any evidence of them; but I guess I can treat anyway." He treated a total of 5 rooms in less than 5 minutes. We lived in peace for approximately two weeks and started having bites again.
My husband said we should wait to call because they told us that they applied "birth control"; and maybe, this was just the last of the bugs before they died, and because Terminix told us that it took 7-14 days for bed bug bites to appear on a person. After a week, I called the company and was told that since my account was never paid, they couldn't help me. I told them my account was never charged; and they said I would have to speak to a manager who would call me back.
Within the hour, the manager called me back and told me that if he was the one who hadn't paid his bill, he wouldn't be calling the company to come fix the problem. He was very, very rude; and I was in tears by the end of the phone conversation. He stated that if I paid in full via cash, they would come treat my house again and I agreed. I just want the bed bugs gone.
They came out to the house and this time, the manager came along. They "inspected" my house and still didn't find any evidence of bed bugs. I asked them, "Are the bites not enough evidence?" And they replied, "You must be bringing them from somewhere else. We have treated and treated this house." I insisted that they treat the house again regardless because that was our agreement. They spent maybe 30 minutes treating and left--paid in full and in cash (minus the $200 discount he took off for making me cry). I was just happy they were gone.
In the following week, I noticed that the kids had bed bug bites. I called Terminix and was told I would have to speak to the manager, who would call me back. When I received the phone call, they informed me that the manager had decided to cancel my contract for lack of bed bug evidence; and they would not be returning to treat my house again, although I would be issued a refund. I still have bed bugs. I found two crawling around in my bathroom last night. If I was as hateful as the guys I had to deal with, I would put those bugs in an envelope and send them to them. I hired this company to take care of the bed bugs and instead, I received the run-around and was treated like **.

My horror story began in April 1990. I was hired as a service technician to service a pest control route. I, at first, wondered why there were unhappy employees, extremely low morale and customers were cancelling left and right. I soon found out the reason. The service department and the salesmen never communicated with each other, and that often would cause a conflict with the customer. I was never furnished any PPE (respirator, neoprene gloves, and safety glasses).
On my first day, I got a bad sunburn type rash on my face, due to no PPE. I also had to furnish my own MSDS and label the book at my expense. I was never paid for the day it took me to put it together. There were none of these on service trucks. If we ran out of chemical, I was told to use water. I was working one day about an hour from the office in SLC, and I got pesticide in my eye. I immediately went to an Urgent Care type facility, and handed the nurse my copies of the MSDS and label of the chemical that was in my eye. The doctor washed out my eye, and I was lucky that it didn't do permanent damage.
A few months later, I was issued a company credit card as I was going to be servicing accounts about an hour away. I filled up my truck, and their credit card for the gas was declined. I tried several times to get a hold of my manager and service manager, and they would not answer either of their cell phones! (Big surprise there!). I had to beg the cashier to let me come back the next day and pay, which is what happened. That same week, I also recieved a collection notice from Urgent Care for their services when my eye was washed out. I guess Terminix never paid that bill either! So, a declined company credit card, a collection notice for my my eye injury that went unpaid by Terminix. Could this get any worse? Yes.
I had a job coming up on an office that had drop down ceilings, and I needed to have access to these areas. I asked my manager for a proper OSHA approved ladder for this job coming up. I asked all week long, and he basically ignored my request. I was forced to use an old, wooden, rickety ladder that I found on the job site. Well, I am not a heavy person, but I was up on the ladder when it collapsed, and I was flung into a desk with my leg landing sideways upon impact of hitting the desk. I was off work for at least a week or two, and I never was given disability or workers compensation for that accident. If any employees had overtime, then the managers would force employees to cross out any overtime hours worked and initial it in front of manager. I was forced to work off the clock on many occasions.
A few months later, I had to have abdominal surgery, and the doctor wanted me to be off for at least three weeks to recover. My surgery was on a Thursday, and the manager ordered me to be back the upcoming Monday, and if not, I would lose my job. I went back that Monday. I was in so much pain that I only got one account done and I begged the manager if I could go home. I couldn't even stand up straight. All he said was, "What about your route?" He didn't care about any of the employees at all. His only concern was to bring in that almighty dollar.
When a regional manager, Doug **, came in to SLC from Denver, he told me that I had to use my own money to call customers back during the day from pay phones. I informed him that was my lunch money, and he said that was too bad, and I could take it off my taxes. He knew I couldn't do that! When the EPA sent word through the higher ups at Terminix that a chemical called Orthene was being taken off the market immediately, and to stop using it, the manager told me to continue using it, as we still had another case of it in the store room. I didn't do it, and it made matters even worse. I didn't want to risk losing my state applicator's license.
One evening, I stopped in at the office to turn in invoices from that day's services so that I wouldn't have to do it the next day. What I witnessed still shocks me to this day. I saw a salesman at the office manager's computer deleting salesmen names from legitimate contracts that these other gentlemen worked on and sold. He was deleting their names, and putting his name on those contracts so that he would get the commission instead of the guys that sold them. He was also cancelling active accounts and "reselling" them and adding his name so that he would get the commission for those as well. Did I mention that this guy is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy reserve, and still is?
Don't you feel safe at night knowing that a dishonest thief like this is guarding our great nation? Not! I hope some military law type person or someone who works at the JAG office on any military base reads this. I think that his behavior was considered conduct unbecoming an officer. I do also know the whereabouts, location and name of this dishonest Naval officer. That just totally blew me away! I hope that someone contacts me about what I witnessed that night. In the end, I was fired, and I turned around and sued them for my unemployment, which I was awarded for wrongful termination. I think they just got rid of me because I was a whistle blower, and always confronted them on their lack of safety regulations.
In conclusion to my horror story, after reading this, do you really want someone from Terminix, Servicemaster, Merry Maids, Trugreen Chemlawn, American Home Shield servicing your home? I hope not. Yes, all these companies are owned by Servicemaster. Your home is your biggest investment, protect it at all costs. Don't let any of these turkeys near it! If you are considering employment with, or service in your home with any of these shady companies, I will let you come to your own conclusion on that matter. Hope that my horror story enlightens you all to what really goes on behind the scenes. If you do need a pest control service, save your money and go with a reputable company. There are companies and exterminators out there that really do care about their work. Too bad that Servicemaster and Terminix aren't one of them.

Terminix: a rip-off price for questionable quality. The Terminix representative gave me a quote for TAP insulation and installation of automatic vents. Verbally, I was given a price of $150 per vent, and with two minuscule-size attic spaces the price rocketed to $1,900 plus taxes. The whole job took 3 hours of low-speed activities by two gentlemen, during which time 5 vents were installed and (according to the application record) 4 bails of T.A.P. insulation were applied to two tiny attic spaces.
Later, I did some on-line research and found that the automatic vents are ranging in price from $19-70 but there was not a single one priced at $150. The exactly same vents with life-time warranty from another supplier were priced at $40. Terminix claims high price resulted from their life-time warranty added to the manufacturer's one year regardless of the customer's will to pay for it!
When I called the Terminix contractor mentioning this matter and the fact that the contract was not itemized, he suggested to drop the price by $200 without itemization, which still left me suspicious. In addition, the above mentioned two gentlemen expressed their surprise by how little of the TAP insulation they have had to use, although they were told to bring much more. I do know that I was ripped off by Terminix. Not to mention the non-itemized contract which I believe not very legal/professionally correct.
To conclude, Terminix over-charged at least $400 only on the vents, not to mention other related items. This outrageous behavior must be stopped. Being an extremely dissatisfied former customer of Terminix, I expressed my numerous concerns and dissatisfaction on multiple occasions. Finally, an agreement was reached with the local office of Terminix according to which all my contracts with the company were canceled. This agreement was confirmed in writing in a letter received from the local office of Terminix, indicating that the company canceled all my accounts and requires no future payments. Regardless of what I mentioned above, I continue receiving letters and phone calls from the payment processing department asking me to pay and to contact Terminix.

I had ants I signed a contract for $699 dollars billed to my charge card in $62 payments to make it easier. But in the fine print it automatically renewed for 12 more months. They didn't bill me in between the expiration and the next month. They did no service between the expiration and the charge but because I missed the 30 day cancellation period they can't reverse the charge. Doesn't that stink?
I'll never ever do business with them again. My fault for not reading it better and trusting the salesperson. Once they have your charge card number they are in control. To me if they did no service they should credit me the service charge. I hope you go bankrupt along with Blockbuster that treated their customers poorly with late fees and such. ** on you!

I called Terminix after a friend's dog had caused a flea infestation in my apartment of 2100 square feet. The first visit was September 9, 2010. Today is the 20th of October, Terminix has been here three times and the fleas have been here before and after they left and continuously since Terminix did the first of their "flea" treatment. Not only did they not get rid of the fleas, but now I have more fleas in more places than I originally had. I have not been unable to sleep at night because of this infestation. I cannot go into my closet because it is infested. The fleas are in my couch on my body, in my hair and in my clothes. Tomorrow I have a new company coming. I would like a refund plus payment for pain and suffering.

Initial window for my first appointment was one afternoon from 1-3pm. Towards the end of the window, someone called to say they would be late, and expect them to arrive at 4:45 pm. I waited until almost 6pm (5 hrs) and called them. Apparently, the exterminator was tied up, but someone forgot to call to let me know.
They set up another appointment for the following morning early 8-10am. In which, again no one showed up. I called at 10am. The service rep said that someone would call me back in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, a technician showed up. After all that, they didn't have the suitable materials for what I needed and said they would have to come back later or re-schedule. After all that, I said forget it. It was a huge let-down that such a big company does not the reliability to back up their name. I wouldn't recommend Terminix to anyone.

I didn't call; they serviced anyway, I guess, without notice. And now they say I owe $94.00. They make excessive harassing calls on a bill I don't owe. Caution! Terminix sales reps are more concerned about closing deals than actually caring if someone truly needs their services. My sister’s husband was out of town and Terminix wants to give their 'free' inspection. She is 20 years old and owning her first house. The inspector runs his numbers and facts on her and has her scared her house is going to fall down on top of her if she doesn't get treated and get it under a home repair guarantee. The contract says you have 3 days to cancel, but when I talked to them on the 3rd day they were hiding behind the contract saying she signed it and it's a done deal.
I thought I read on the Terminix brochure 100% satisfaction or your money back. My family is not satisfied with how my sister was charged $1600 she does not have for a chemical treatment. Please be careful letting sales reps into your home or any business bringing 'free inspections'. They are trained professionals and are there to get you under contract no matter the circumstance. Termites can easily be avoided by making sure your house is built with treated lumber, removing old stumps and any non-treated old wood from your yard and by making sure any and all water leaks in your home are quickly repaired. Termite colonies will not survive if they do not have food sources to flourish on.

The manager also said, "The employee is unemployed and will be for a while". I was only let go for not meeting sales quotes. I signed up in late Aug. for Ultimate Protection including 4-quarterly Pest Control Services (with facility to call anytime there are any issues) with an initial termite inspection and full termite protection. The monthly payment was agreed at $52. I received no contract but a payment of $62 was taken out from my account.
I was told two different people will be coming, one for termite inspection and one for pest control. Nobody came for initial termite inspection. The pest controller was ill equipped, he just sprayed some chemical around but did not take down webs and nets from garage and outside house. The treatment was also ineffective as wasps again reconstructed nets and spiders and cockroaches were seen in the house even after treatment.
I called Terminix on 9th Sept. to cancel; I was told to call back again on 10th October to cancel for reasons beyond my understanding. I was told that since I have ultimate protection plan I can get treatment to add my concerns before cancelling at no additional cost. I said that is fine and was told that someone will be calling me in a day or so. Nobody did.
It has been so frustrating. I do not want to waste my money. I want to cancel service with immediate effect and want my money back. I had totally different impression about Terminix as a professional organization but as it turned out, they are experts in extracting your money for a service that is really not worth the money.

My wife called Terminix and set up an appointment on a Wednesday Morning for an estimate. Come Wednesday,. we jumped online to read some reviews of Terminix and between us, we did not read one positive review, so we opted to cancel the appointment. When we called to cancel, they didn't have a record of our appointment in their computer, nor the name, phone number, address, etc. that my wife gave them.
Come Thursday, the Terminix man shows up. I asked if they ever called him, and he told me no. I said we canceled our appointment. He puts his chin to his chest and sighs and asks why. I told him it's because we didn't read one positive review of the company online so we're going with someone else. He slams the screen door he was holding in his hand inches from my face and storms off my porch. Under his breath, but loud enough for me to hear, he says, and I quote "This is ** sad, you ** people should know we're a ** A+ company." I know the guy had to drive from Batavia to Buffalo for this appointment, hence the reason why we tried to do him the favor of calling last night so he wouldn't need to make the drive. It is not our fault the Terminix dispatchers didn't tell him that we canceled our appointment.
As he was going on on his ** word tirade, I mentioned to him that maybe it's things like that that make people jump online and give you poor reviews. He turns around and says "we're a ** A+ company, this is real sad" and I advised him that he get off my property that very second. To top that off, I called Terminix back the moment the door shut (and locked as this guy looked unstable at best), I got on the line with a young woman who could not find my appointment, my address, the phone number, my name, the name of the man who came out here, not a thing. To them, it's as if it never happened. I made my complaint and told her everything I just typed here and heard not one keystroke, not one pause for writing with a pen, nothing. I'm fairly sure my complaint wasn't even taken. I have never been so appalled by a company's business practices in my life. If you have the chance, go with anyone else.

I hired Terminix for a defined period and paid them for it. Since then (the period ended over a year ago), I have received an unending stream of phone calls suggesting my account is "in arrears." In fact, my account is unambiguously canceled. I no longer live at the house in question. As the calls have persisted and I've gotten a sense of the people that are placing them, I've come to realize that Terminix is not really, in the end, a pest-control agency. Rather it is a large, organized consumer-fraud operation, nominally selling pest control, but essentially just pressuring people for money.

I was a service manager at Terminix and so I know how things operate. First and foremost, you need to understand that it's all about how much money the company makes per hour, per day, per week, per month, per year. The Branch Manager's future with the company, as well as his salary, depends upon him doing more for less. The Service Managers who work for the Branch Manager are tasked with making sure that the branch makes a profit, that no customers are allowed to cancel their accounts and that new accounts are set up on the same day that they are sold. Technicians, who work for the Service Managers, are then expected to solve the problems of all their customers in a limited amount of time while not actually costing Terminix money in the way of pesticides (the materials used to kill your pests cost money) or time spent actually doing the job. Time is money. In essence, pest control companies are selling time.
On any given day, a Technician will have his regularly scheduled service calls (usually anywhere from 14-18 per day) as well as any immediate "callback" visits where a regular customer has called to report that they are having a problem. They may also have one or two new customer set-ups to do. These, of course, are the highest priority. In short, the workload on these technicians is ungodly. I have been in the pest control industry for 27 years and I have never seen a company treat their employees or their customers with such disregard. I knew Terminix had a horrible reputation within the industry, but I needed a job quickly and took that one while waiting for something else to open. Their sales people are encouraged to convince you that you have termites- even if you don't.
Their "bait stations" are a joke. In essence, the only way they can stop termites is if the termite finds the bait station and there's no guarantee that they will. They may burrow along 6 inches away from it toward your house. When you get termites, even if you already have Terminix, it is incumbent upon the Branch Manager to put out the fire and somehow document that it is not the fault of Terminix. There is lots of document manipulation at Terminix so read what your technician writes very carefully. I was at a Sales and Management meeting once and the District Manager (who oversees all of the Branches and Branch Managers) put up an excel spreadsheet to demonstrate which branches had the highest and lowest amount of customer refunds, money paid off in termite damages and lawsuits. He then went on to give a lengthy talk directed at the Branch Managers on how not to refund customers or pay out money in termite damages.
All of the pesticides are strictly under lock and key (normal for the industry) and only managers can dole it out to technicians. The problem is, the Branch Manager expects the Service Managers to control costs so, in turn, Service Managers will often send their technicians out in the field woefully unprepared to do the job they were sent out to do. Technicians are mostly ill-trained. They watch videos, are coached on how to take the state pest control applicator's license, and are rushed through the training so that they can get out and start making the company money. They are expected to do perform their service calls in a lightning fast manner, get the money and then get the hell out and go to the next sucker. In this way, Terminix realizes a better dollar-per-hour return.
At the end of the day, the technicians are expected to make a certain number of phone calls to their regular customers to tell them that they will be coming out the next day. The technicians are then told to call their old customers (ones who have cancelled their accounts) and badger them into starting up the service again. Another thing- when you cancel your account, get it in writing. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen Temrinix blatantly and willfully ignore a customer's account cancellation request and then end up doing the service the next month (usually outdoor "barrier treatments" where they spray around the house when the customer doesn't have to be home). When the customer refuses to pay, they are sent to collection.
Terminix is the most vile, unethical company that I have ever worked for. The funny thing is, they are part of Servicemaster and Servicemaster makes no bones about the fact that they are a "Christian" enterprise. Stay away from Terminix. Far away!

Terminix has been billing me for services they have not even conducted. They do not return phone calls and continue to send bills with new charges. The account had been canceled months ago per a phone representative, but when I called again they had never closed it. I purchased the home in 07/2009. The previous owner had Terminix and we decided to continue the termite contract the previous owner had. I made payment up front for one year of services with termite control and a guarantee that if there was any damage or infestations, it would be taken care of with no additional cost. After making payment a few months later, we saw some ants in the kitchen and scheduled an appointment. We were told there would not be any charge for any appointments or treatments as this would be part of our contract and they would come back as many times as we needed them to. They said there would be a money-back guarantee, if they could not resolve the issue.
A termite service man from Terminix came to our home in 03/2010 and stated our contract would not cover ants and we would need to purchase a pest control contract. Originally, we were told the termite contract would cover ants, termites, etc. I asked them how much it would be and they said it would be $224.85 after the seasonal discount and it would cover all services, including free in between scheduled service visits if needed.
They sent a service man to the house to spray for ants. He sprayed for ants and left in about 5-10 minutes after arriving. We continually had ant problems in the same exact spot the service man had sprayed. I called them, and asked for them to spray again. They sprayed and we still had problems with ants. I called and made an appointment again, in which they had not shown up for, but then charged us for. I went online and then noticed a few days later they started billing me for the extra visits, which we had been told we would not be charged for.
All sorts of charges started showing up on our Terminix account, even on days they had not provided any services. They started billing us for appointments they had not even had and had not even shown up for. I called up and canceled all the services and asked for a credit back as they had the money back guarantee if they could not fix the problem. I called 1-800-terminix. A woman answered after a few phone prompts. I told her the problem and she said she would take care of everything and cancel the services. She said, “Don’t worry, I will credit your account and your contract will be canceled.” I left it alone, believing it had been taken care of. Now it’s August 21st, 2010 and I received a letter in the mail stating we have a balance of $521.94 and total amount currently due was $353.03. I called up and asked for them to fix this as I was not supposed to be charged. I also mentioned they continually charged me for services they had not even provided.
The customer service representative gave me the runaround and said they could not make any decisions. It would have to go through your local office located at 45 S Service Road, Plainview, NY 11803, which they spelled wrong on the billing statement as "Planview". They said they would call the office and see if they could get a manager to answer. She came back on the phone and said no one was around and she would leave a message for them to call me back.
I waited a week from August 21st to Friday August 27th. I did not receive any phone call backs and decided to call again. They had said, again, “We can not help you, you have to wait for a manager to call you back. We will send you a message on his Nextel to call you. He will call you in the hour.” I did not receive any messages or call backs. I called again on Saturday and Monday over four times. I received the same run around, and was hung up on 3 out of 4 times I called. They asked me to hold for the local office and disconnected me. Called again and the lady yelled at me, saying someone would call me back in the next 10 minutes and hung up on me.
The last person I spoke with was a man, who said it didn’t even show that I called over the past couple days. He said the only call I show was on August 21st and there was an email sent to 2 managers to give you a call back that day. I said nobody had called me and we went over the phone numbers and contact information. He said, “Ok, hold on and I will transfer you to your local office on Long Island.” He then hung up on me. I called again and said I am going to file a complaint with Consumer Affairs and to relay that message to your management. It is now 6 hours later and still no return phone calls.
They sent me a letter stating if I don’t make payment within 10 days, they will refer my account over to their collection agency. I have been calling to resolve the balance they state I owe when I do not actually owe anything. The lady threatened me, saying they would file a negative report on my credit report. I have an 820 credit score and perfect credit, which has made me very upset and stressed out. I do not know what to do to get this resolved as they clearly try to corner you into paying for false charges through threats. I am very protective of my credit and proud to of never ever made any payments in my life late. I am very responsible and do not want to be negatively affected for unauthorized fraudulent charges. My customer number is ** with Terminix. Please help me. I did a yahoo search on complaints with Terminix and see this is a very widespread problem. I signed up for Terminix about 6 months ago. And I cannot wait for the 12 month contract to expire. I have never had such horrible customer service in one place. When I first signed up, they apparently didn't even write my phone number down, so my first "scheduled" appointment they did not show up for and they claimed it was because they did not have my phone number to call and verify the appointment.
Then my first bill came, and I was told I did not have to pay until the end of the first three months (quarterly bill). So, I sent in my check around the middle of the third month. I look on a totally different credit card account, one I used to put the initial deposit down for the services, and they charged that card. So I basically got double charged. I called customer service to explain what happened, and they said, Yeah sure we will credit your account (on the credit card, not my checking account. So I wait a couple weeks, and nothing appears credited to my account.
I call again, and they say, "Oh, okay we will credit your account and told me a totally wrong number, less than what I should have been credited. This kept going for another month until finally, I discover a check in the mail for the amount I double paid. Which is not even what I wanted. I wanted my credit card account credited. I did not even call to complain because I knew it would get me know where. From there I have had at least three instances of scheduled appointment issues- either they really didn't put me on the schedule, they scheduled an appointment without even calling to tell me, so the guy just showed up just as I was leaving for work. Appointment times have been wrong.
I am so sick of the company. I do not recommend it to anyone. They need to learn how to run a business. Oh and one more thing. The customer service reps were all rude women. They all need to be fired.

I saw this as a small remedy for the situation and to warn other potential consumers about a bad company. I spent almost an hour completing the form on their website and writing out my experience. I received a confirmation email from **** to acknowledge receipt of my submission. Then later that same day, I received an email from **** that said exactly this: “Your complaint has been selected for publication on our site and will appear within the next 48 hours.” I have checked back several times and it has not been published. I have tried to email them but the email address proved as the one to respond to on their emails to me does not work.
It is truly ironic that in my complaint to a consumer affairs website about a company that failed to complete a promised service met with the same result. I feel like I wasted my time with **** and it’s the most frustrating because this was supposed to be my remedy, my method of spreading the word.
