My deck has a Trex decking and it was very hot on the feet. I utilize the deck as much as available throughout the year and I wanted to make sure that I could use it and cool it in when I need it to. I'd also like people to come over and utilize the deck. I liked that SunSetter Awnings was local. The other company that I looked at didn't have a person in my area. It was very important for me to see somebody that was gonna be responsible putting it in and then to have them come out to the house.
The sales team from SunSetter was very punctual, but I couldn't get back to the rep that came out. I had to go out of town and I had to have him reschedule. I wanted to be able to see the awning before I left. They were kind enough to shuffle people around to get it in for me. The rep came out on Saturday and moved his schedule around. They showed me everything about it and went over all the functionality of it. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It looks beautiful and it matches the house perfectly. And it looks like another room now. I'll spend a lot more time out there in the heat of the sun and when I have people over, they won't have to stand in the heat and grill. They'll be able to spend a lot more time and also with the lights at night.

We bought a new house and the patio faces the West so we needed some shade back there. We live in Arkansas and it’s pretty hot here. I liked SunSetter's component that the awning could be electrically retracted. The team also was very helpful in picking out the size that we needed and the features that we wanted to add to it. The installation went well too. Our interactions were all very positive. We got the 16-foot XL with the light features and the wind sensor, and the color is charcoal gray. We ordered it in mid-March and it probably came within six weeks but the installer kept it at his place for several weeks until the porch part that we were adding on was finished. It all worked out well and we’ve had it up for a couple of weeks now. As the afternoon sun begins to come out on it, we’ll extend it out more as it gets hotter. I would tell others to get one but to get their pocketbooks ready as they are expensive.

I kept seeing SunSetter Awnings on TV and I decided to get one. The rep was very good, very friendly and very nice. He explained everything to me. The installation experience was very good too. So far, the awning is working great. In fact, a lot of people who saw my SunSetter awning loves it. I would tell my friends to get one too.

I had a lot of windows in the south side of my house so I needed an awning. I knew people who had SunSetter and they were fine with it so that was what I did. Everybody at SunSetter was very professional and courteous. Three guys came and got busy. They didn’t mess around and they got it done in two hours. I chose a color that matches the color of my home. It is a pale yellow with brown trim so that’s what the awning is as well. It looks nice, especially the colors, and I’m happy with it.
This model is the best one they have and the quality is good. I have a remote control for it and it winds itself up if the wind blows too hard. The wind had blown hard enough here one time that it rolled itself up so that showed me it does what I expected it to do. It does it well too. I like that when I roll the awning out, I’ve got all that shade immediately. I come out here in the evening sometimes and it’s nice. The awning makes a big difference in the amount of heat that comes in the house.
Everything was a positive experience except the price. Their advertising was a little erroneous because they showed a big window and said, “This is affordable. You can take care of this for $500,” But when they came and took care of mine, it was almost $7000. That’s a long way from $500 and I have a problem with that. So if you're interested, get prepared to triple or quadruple what you thought you were gonna pay ‘cause that’s gonna be the end result. If I had known I was gonna be paying $7000, I might not have done it. But I had the money and I spent it. I may also be putting this house on the market in the next year or so and one thing that influenced me was that it would help sell the house. I’ll get my money back and if I don’t get my money back, I’m enjoying the awning.

I needed an awning. I got some prices from different people. The other one I contacted didn't put up awnings so I called SunSetter. I got a motorized awning from them. My experience with the rep from SunSetter was great. I just called his number and he called me right back. He said when he’d be here and he was here on time. Also, the installation went perfect. I use the awning when I need it and when I don't, I don't roll it out. I’ve also had three people look at it and liked it.

We were looking at several options to cover an area outside and happened to see a SunSetter display at a Worcester, Massachusetts home show. And we decided to take a look. My wife wanted one thing and I wanted another and the awning was a happy medium between the two. We could tell by the way the salesmen treated us at the home show if they were gonna be a problem. Others just constantly hound you, but SunSetter's salesman was low key. He came out, measured, and gave us all the info we needed. He told us about the materials we can choose, the options we can get and the price. He also told us that if we are interested, to give them a call. We waited and weighed it for a couple of weeks before deciding what we were gonna do. I appreciate the fact that there was no pressure.
The installer was very professional and knew what he was doing. He and his assistant came in, banged it out for a couple of hours and they were all set. We bought a 16-foot by 16-foot motorized awning and it has been working fine. We leave the awning at open quite a bit of a time to keep our outdoor kitchen area and equipment covered. We have a grill, a refrigerator, cabinets, and a sink. We've really only retracted it when there was gonna be a bad storm or wind. After we bought it, we thought it was a tad expensive, but comparing it to building something more permanent, it's a lot less expensive. Plus, it performs as advertised.

We reconstructed our patio. We tore our old patio down and put a brand new one up. But we've always had the sun on the left side of the patio. Instead of getting the windows darkened, we got a SunSetter awning and put it up. Joe, the salesman from SunSetter Awnings, was great. He was a heck of a nice guy and really professional. The installation process was great and the installer really knew what he was doing. He was in and out of there and the installation was done in two hours. Our awning is great and it solves the problem we have. SunSetter has a good product and the way that they did it was good. The only thing was that they advertised the price of the awning as $599 on TV, but the actual price was $3,200.

I wanted an awning for years. I bought a cheap one and kept it intact for five years. I was on the north shore of a small lake, but we had a lot of wind. I lost many umbrellas due to the wind and my main concern was being able to keep it from being ripped to shreds. And then I went with SunSetter’s reputation for quality. Those folks in Leroy, which is a small town just down the road from me were very thoughtful, very thorough and just really helpful with what you need, what you want, and they knew where I lived and what I was dealing with as far as sun and wind is concerned and were very helpful.
The installation process was done neatly. When the installers left, you would have never known that anybody was there. They had to take the old one that I had down for me and got rid of it. They carried it out to the dumpster and threw it there for me. They made sure that there was nothing left lying around. They also made sure I understood how the awnings worked and that it was also clear to me that if I had any additional questions, they would be really happy to answer them.
I purchased two awnings and they’re both 12 feet wide. The color is reddish and they have tan and red stripes. They provide excellent shade. We've had some really hot weather here and they worked really well. When the wind has blown to the velocity that the umbrella senses that it's not safe, it has gone ahead and closed itself perfectly, so I'm really happy with it. With SunSetter I'm dealing with a local businessman which always makes me feel good. And the service and the quality of the product are absolutely exceptional.

I bought this house about five months ago and the sun shines into the dining area which makes it very hot. I wanted something to help block the sun a bit, so, it would not get so hot inside the house. I also wanted something that would give me shade outside that window because there's a deck there. I get the AARP magazine once a month and I kept seeing all the advertisements about SunSetter there. That's where I got their number. There aren't many companies around like SunSetter that offer an awning with a remote for retracting and opening it again, so I called them and ordered one.
The person who installed it was very nice and very informative. He was helpful in every way that he could be and it took him three hours to finish the installation. He worked very hard at getting the awning out the way I wanted it but he was new at it, so he didn't have a clear understanding at how far out it would go. I got the awning with an eight-foot width and it didn't go out as far as I thought it would. So, it doesn't look as big as I thought it would. But it passes the window and that's what I wanted it to do.
Also, I don't think the installer was completely aware that if the sun moves, the awning may not shade the same way. I didn't realize that as well, so, it doesn't shade as much area outside the house as I would have liked over the deck. But it does the job for the window. Other than being dissatisfied when I saw the size of the awning, I like everything else about it and the way it works. I like the fact you don't have to keep it out if you don't want to. You can bring it in and still see the sky and the trees from your window if you choose to do so.

I have a back porch and there’s a lot of sun out there. I happened to find SunSetter Awnings online and I had an outstanding purchasing experience with their team. They were very friendly, sociable, quick, and had good knowledge of their product. And they came when they said they were going to. I purchased a 14 feet x 14 feet motorized awning which was installed in three hours. Massachusetts Awning ended up putting it on and when I called SunSetter's office and told them about that, they sent me another guy from Lawrence. He was upset and called me because I went with Massachusetts Awning. I know they’re all subcontractors, so I thought that was weird.

My husband put a deck out back and he would sit out there enjoying it at all. But I felt it was too hot for him at his age to be sitting out there. When we saw SunSetter Awnings at the home show and listened to their spiel for a bit, I thought it would be nice. So, we set up an appointment then they came out and explained everything to us. They told us what they would do and gave us options. We got a motorized unit and the installation went well. With our SunSetter awning, I can now hang out with my husband and have coffee. The only thing is, the awning doesn't block the sun in the evening because the way our house is situated, when the sun is going down, it comes in the side. But it's not that long because there are trees out back.

This may be a good awning but go through a dealer and not SunSetter Direct! They say it is a DIY project and I bought a 15 ft XL and 3 people can't even lift this. They are not upfront about everything in my opinion. They never sent me my lights and I see it was never put on the order. The shipping showed up late so lost a days work waiting for it thinking it was going to arrive. I highly suggest you go through a dealer if you want installation and they sell at the same price SunSetter does. Was not an easy experience and I am actually returning the awning and buying one through a dealer but I do not know if it is an SunSetter.
We at SunSetter we take great pride in our product quality, our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers. We regret any unpleasant experience that our customers may have. Please be aware that we built our business selling to the DIY customer. Customers have been installing their SunSetter awning for many years. The Motorized Awning comes to you completely assembled. Installation involves installing the brackets into the studs. You will need 2 or 3 helpers to lift the awning into the brackets, secure it with the retaining bolts, plug it in and you're good to go. For customers that are not handy with tools or prefer not to install the awning the awning themselves can use a local handyman or a local independent awning dealer. DIY is a great cost saving option for many customers. We provide customers with detailed written instructions for installing as well as an installation DVD. We also offer technical support by phone 7 days a week from 8:00am to 10:00pm ET should you have questions during installation. Regarding the lights. The promotion you used when you purchased your awning on our website included a free awning cover, not free patio lights. We credited the value of the awning cover towards the purchase of the aluminum hood. If you have questions about the promotion you received just give us a call and we'll be happy to review it with you in detail. We're happy to extend whichever promotion works best for you.

I had a previous awning that was very cheap and the weather finally got to it. I got a thing in the value pack in the mail and I thought I would really have to replace the awning this year. The sale at the Christmas tree shop was not happening, so I was looking at the SunSetter. The motorized one is a big discrepancy but my husband said I could have it. SunSetter is well-known and I figured that this one would last longer.
The SunSetter sales rep came in and he was very nice. We told him what our budget was and he knocked a little bit off of that. He said he'd be back in the beginning of June but then June came and there was no rep and no cost. I called SunSetter on the number on the card he left. Since we had so much bad weather, he was just looking for a good day to come. So they showed up at my house right around noon-ish, and by the time I finished my shopping, they were done and backing out. Two guys had it up and running in just a couple of hours. And I got a cover, so in the winter, it won't get all beat up and destroyed. The SunSetter awning is making our outdoor activities much more convenient with the motor that goes in and out. Now, I can use my porch. Otherwise, the sun's just beating down on us right on the ocean.

We have a little cafe and we needed some extra shade outdoors, so getting an awning was an easy way to do that. I knew a little bit about SunSetter and that was a significant part of the decision to go with them. Marty, their rep, was great and very helpful. He came out and talked us through it. We already pretty much knew we wanted a specific kind but because of the way our building is, we weren't sure we could install it so we wanted to have somebody who knew what they were doing to be part of the installation.
The installation was great and pretty quick, and the awning has been working very well. It adds another room to our building. We have a little wind sensor on there and we're glad we got that. We do have wind on occasion in Lompoc and the awning doesn't close unless it's really significantly windy. It looks good too and we're enjoying it. We've had a real positive experience with SunSetter and I'd recommend them. We've actually recommended our installer as well.

We got the motorized type awning from SunSetter and dealt with a company called Automation. We had a real good experience during the installation. But there’s still one arm though that hangs down a little bit farther than I’d like for it to whenever it’s closed. They came out once and tried to correct it. It’s still not perfect but I can live with it. I have direct western exposure in the back of my house and I have a pool. And we usually use the awning during the late afternoon so that we have some shade. The awning is beautiful and it works great too.

The installers were on time, cleaned up and were very much tidy. Since the awning was installed, we are able to sit down on our balcony. We use the awning every day. I had the best experience with SunSetter and I would recommend them.

We had a manual awning from SunSetter and it worked out good. We cranked it out, fastened it to the ground, and it just stayed there. We left it out almost continuously from when the rain in Washington slows down in May until we wintered in Arizona from October to the following March. It was up all the rest of the time when we were home. It was up for over 10 years and so it was wind-damaged and worn out. It was already bad so now, we got our second SunSetter awning. My grandson is an estimater for 5-star Gutters and Awnings, and they do SunSetter awnings. He talked the awning over with my husband and there was no question on the brand, only on the model. We went through with them and my grandson installed the awning. It didn't take him long so we were happy with it.
We got a medium-sized motorized awning and it's working great. I have a big family and the awning has given us an extra room out there. I also have a lot of flowers so the awning helps keep us from the sun. Our experience with SunSetter has been wonderful and the awning is worth the money. We were satisfied with what we got and I'm sure the awning will outlast us.

We wanted to shade our back patio and my sister-in-law has a SunSetter awning. SunSetter's products are well-made and we’re real happy with ours. The one we purchased is 12-foot across and it comes out ten feet. It's tan with brown stripes, which is also the color of our home so it almost matches the paint perfectly. We leave it open all the time and it creates another room in our house ‘cause it’s between two walls. It’s perfect. But the installation created a problem.
There was a mix-up with the salesman. The old fellow came over to give us the cost and what we wanted but even the lady we talked to admitted he was 82 and he didn’t quite get the whole thing. It was just a big miscommunication between him and the company when it was ordered. The put the motor on the wrong side. I wanted a plug on the left side but it came with a plug on the right side so it was running down the wall. It was too late to fix that and we tried to talk to somebody but nothing ever happened. Somebody said they would get a-hold of engineers and see if they can change the motor from one side to the other on site. But I already had electricians putting in some plugs for a fan so I had them move those wires all the way across, hide them behind things and bring it down between pipes. That solved the problem.

I built a new sunroom and a deck. I’ve been using a deck umbrella and it’s a pain in the neck putting them up, putting them down, and worrying about the wind. I’ve seen awnings in the magazines and I kinda knew that’s what I wanted, so that’s what I got. The advertising of SunSetter does a better job than other companies. I’ve seen a couple of different brands, but the SunSetter seemed to be more prominent. And there’s a local firm that installs them too. So I did it. In the beginning, I had them come out and take a look. And the rep was nice enough to bring color samples with him and before it was done and said with, I decided to save myself a little money ‘cause I’m a little bit handy and buy one and just put it up myself. And that’s what I did.
After I installed it, I bought the wind sensor unit on it. But I had some troubles trying to make that work. When I first put it up, I couldn’t get it to work so I called them. And they were very patient with me in walking me through the process and we got it to work just the way as it should now. They did a great job. We’ve been using it this spring and enjoying it. And the sensor works very well too. If we get a little gust of wind, it just rolls itself back up.
My deck gets the full sun from the west and living here in Atlanta, the temperature gets very hot early in the day and throughout the day. So the awning extends the use of the deck for us. I’m also a fair-skinned individual and I can’t get sunburned. So I’ve gotta get underneath shade and it does a good job. I would highly recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We had a little difficulty in installing it but it wasn’t the installer’s fault. They gave a socket mount when the guy was here to sell it to me and when they came to put it in, there was no wood out there for them to attach it to. It’s by the pool and it hangs over our bedroom and our living room sliding glass door and we just walk outside. It really is nice and it adds an extra room to the building. The people who put it up did a very good job. The owner of the company who installed the awning told me what's good and what's not and he also said that the awning should last a long time. Also, his employees were very competent. The SunSetter Awnings team did everything that they said they were gonna do. Here in Central Pennsylvania, there are winters where you have to figure out how you're gonna get the snow off of the roof to keep it from collapsing on your deck. We didn't wanna put a permanent roof over our deck and we had seen some advertisements for SunSetter, so we gave it a try. We had a SunSetter awning for several years and it was my husband and my brother-in-law who installed it themselves. But that was one that you had to crank out and so we had the video. That was a bit more complicated than what we wanted to get into this time, so we called SunSetter and they linked us up with a local dealer. When I called them to make arrangements, they were very helpful. And the people who did the installation last month were excellent. They were very good and they did it very professionally. They were here for a very short amount of time and assured that if we have any issues, they'll come back and make it right.
We upgraded to an awning that is automatic and we have a remote control. This awning was different, so they had to make a couple of repairs to the siding on our house. With the other hand-cranked awning, it's either you had the bar that went out and people were always bumping their heads on it, or you had to extend it out and attach it, and then you have the pole there that took up space. But this motorized one doesn't have any of that, which is another nice thing about it because I have young grandchildren. So we really like it. My husband and I are getting older and we've arranged our house so that, hopefully, as we age, we're able to stay here much longer. And having the motorized awning makes that one more thing that is easier for us to operate. We added the LED lights to the post arm that takes the awning out and we've used that several times this summer. That's really helpful too.
We appreciate the quality of the products that SunSetter is selling. We had our previous awning for years and the only reason we decided to upgrade was because we wouldn't have been able to get some of the replacement parts if we needed them. But even as old as it is, it would still service somebody very well because it really held up nicely. We have a lot of friends and we've recommended SunSetter several times to people that we know of that are in the same situation. Now, this one will be even nicer than the other one because it's got a metal cover over it that it folds up into, so it will be more protected from the snow and the ice in the winter. We're hoping that this one wears as well as the other one did. It was a pleasant experience that SunSetter gives us a lot of use on our deck.

I'm picky and have to have the best, so I got the motorized awning from SunSetter. Installation was top-notch. The mason dude that run the show knew exactly everything. It was well-designed and he did a great job. I show off my awning to my friends. The only thing I hate about it is that I've put two little round batteries in the remote but they don’t last for about one or two run-outs. Other than that, I absolutely love my awning.

The way I designed my deck is south where the sun shines into the corner and it makes the corner very hot. But then I like the open sky so I didn’t want to rebuild a permanent roof over. And that made the awning a good solution. A friend of my son has had one SunSetter awning for 15 years and loves it. She recommended SunSetter and several other people mentioned them as well. The team at SunSetter was great and they were nice guys. And also their installers were very good and did a very nice job.
I have an automatic awning and it’s desert color stripes. It stands out 12 feet and 12 feet wide. It’s installed on a surface, not against the building. The SunSetter awning cost less what the roof would have cost and it certainly looks nicer than anything I could have devised. I have one little issue though. When it closes, one of the support arms doesn’t come all the way back and sits a bit lower than the other, which SunSetter wasn't able to fix. Despite that, I’m totally happy with the awning. It helped the inside life a lot. It keeps the living room cool since there’s a window there that is now shaded when it needs to be. Also the deck is much more comfortable on a hot day. I have recommended SunSetter Awnings to others and told them that it’s a great solution.

My husband and I just moved and didn't have an awning outside where the patio part is. We wanted to sit outside more because there's a lot of fun there. However, this is a 55 and over community wherein they have rules and regulations. They only gave us the okay to put an awning up if it was a SunSetter or something else. Our neighbors have SunSetter, so I chose that.
We got the motorized awning that has the stripes and the vinyl. Then there's a man that does the installation here for the community. He was experienced with putting the awning for the others that purchased theirs, so we got him and it went very well. But we had to go to our neighbor next door and look at a DVD just to refresh his memory and to make sure we were doing it right. Now we use the SunSetter awning to keep the sun from coming in the sunroom and to shade it more. And so far, things have been fine with SunSetter Awnings.

The SunSetter awning is a great product. It works good and everything is the way it's advertised. I'm really happy with them. Get one of these things now.

I was getting some sun on the deck and if I was sitting out there, I'd have to keep moving around to bypass the sun. So I purchased a motorized awning from SunSetter. I moved quickly at it and I wanted to get it done. I had to beat the special. However, $400 for the installation was so expensive so I reached out to a friend and he installed the awning for me. Once I got the awning up, I wasn't getting much sun on my deck anymore. The trees grew taller and thicker as well. The rep of SunSetter was also very nice and now, I have to call her again because I didn’t use the plates that she had brought. I would recommend SunSetter Awnings to others.

I made the decision to stay in my house through retirement and I decided to do certain things to it. Getting an awning was one of them and I picked SunSetter thinking they were more reputable than others. I placed the order for two 14-foot awnings and when it came to their installation, one awning was missing. So, they had to go back to the shipper, the shipper had to verify that they lost it in shipment, then SunSetter had to remake it. After that process, the shipper left it in my yard during delivery. There was a 240-pound container in my yard, so that didn't go over really well.
The installation of the first unit was also very unprofessional and I had it reinstalled by an electrician. And now, I'm still waiting for an install date for the second awning. It was agreed that I would pay for the installation of both once the second unit was installed because they need to match up, especially when they're extended because they're side by side. But last Friday, the salesman called me and said that that was not what he agreed to. He said that he agreed that he would be paid for the first awning when the second one was delivered. And so my comment was, "Well, you really can't verify delivery because no one signed for it but I'm telling you I haven't."
Last week, I called the corporate office. They called me back and I explained the situation to them. I also told them that I did not wanna talk to their sales rep anymore. They said they understood that but the one who called me back to try to schedule the installation was the salesman again. He insisted that I needed to pay for the first one when they come to install the second one. I said I was not doing that because if I paid for it, I'd be saying I was satisfied with it and I didn't know that until the second one is up. He didn't like that. He said it was taking too long and he wanted his money, but that's not my problem. I refuse to pay for the installation until the job is complete because they were ordered at the same time and on the same invoice.
Then, I got a call yesterday from a guy named Justin in the corporate office asking me if I could prove that I had the funds to pay for the installation. I paid cash for the two awnings, to the tune of 7600 dollars, and I told him that I felt like I have suckers stamped on my forehead and that as a woman, I was being taken advantage of. I probably make twice what he makes in a year and to ask for proof that I had the money to pay for the installation was very insulting. So far, I have not heard back from anyone today. I told them that if we couldn't get this straightened out in the near future, they could come and get both awnings and fix my roof because the first one is installed on it. And if anyone asks me about SunSetter, I'd advise him/her not to purchase from them.

We had a large cantilever umbrella on our deck but that umbrella broke years ago. So we wanted to get something a little more permanent and easier to operate. I got a large 14 x 20 remote-controlled awning from SunSetter that has a wind sensor on it. And I got the protective cover that goes over the whole thing installed as well. The purchasing experience was really good.
I needed to install it on my roof, which is basically four stories in the air. I contacted a gentleman rep here in DC and he has done this work a lot and has been in the city a long time. And it worked out well because they did whatever they needed to, to figure out how to get it up there and how to install it correctly. They were excellent to work with. Installation went according to plan, as complex as I thought it would be. With the SunSetter awning, we're able to spend more time up there on the deck where there's direct sun versus before when we wouldn't even bother to go outside.

SunSetter has retractable awnings and I ordered the motorized awning online for our patio that gets straight sun. The awning is about seven feet across and is tan and red stripe. We installed it ourselves, however, getting it up and working was a little more challenging than what was advertised. Other than that, the awning now blocks the sun so it makes it cooler and more pleasant to sit out there. All in all, the awning is good and awnings from SunSetter are worth it.

We have a deck on the back of my house and we had cut the trees down in the back as well. We could hardly stay out here when the sun was shining so we needed something to cover the deck and knock off the sun. We had gotten an advertisement from SunSetter and my wife said that it might just be what we needed. We had talked to another company about putting an aluminum permanent awning on there, but it was very expensive.
The salesman of SunSetter was extremely nice and explained everything really well. We bought a motorized awning from them. It has a blue stripe in it. The people that installed it was great too. At first, they had it a little out of line and it ripped a big hole in the first canvass. They had to order another one but that didn’t take a week. We had a few misunderstandings with it at first because we didn’t realize that we didn't have to tie the awning in every time it rains. If we didn’t, the rainwater would just puddle up on top of the awning. We’ve been taking it back in about every night if we thought it was going to rain. We've had it for about four weeks now and we've used it to keep the sun out of the sunroom, which has been a big help. And we plan to use it more as we get on in the summer. I have recommended SunSetter to other people.

Rick was one of the installers and he was very helpful and informative. The guys that came out were quick and did a neat job. The awning was ready to go when they were done. I wanted to put a permanent roof on but there isn't enough pitch on the roof. I have a brother-in-law in Virginia who had SunSetter before he moved. I was afraid because I used to have a trailer and the awning fell apart after about five years. But he told me that Sunsetter's lasts. He had his for nine years before he moved and at that time, there weren't any problems with it at all. So I decided to give it a try. We then got the motorized unit and it's a much heavier awning than you have on your camping trailer.
The installation went well. Three people came to install the awning and they took an hour and 15 minutes to do the job. They had everything with them. It was really easy to get to and there also weren’t a bunch of chairs and stuff there for them to fall over. They have a wide open space. They didn’t make any damage to the floor or to the side of the house and the brackets went on good. I sat there in a rocking chair and watched them. The guy, who is a local, told me that he was gonna send me a set of lights so my wife told me to give him a call and I will.
We use the awning often. We can eat out there, we sit there in the evening, and when it gets better in the morning, we’ll probably have breakfast out there. My wife quilts and that’s where she is today all day. My wife and I used it late yesterday evening and had dinner. If the wind blows and the awning is down, it would come up automatically. Also, when I hit the button, the awning comes out and when I hit again, it goes back in. I'd tell a friend to come and check the awning and I'll show them how it is.

SunSetter has been around for a long time and I felt that I'd be better off with them in case something happens compared to the other awning company that no one knew anything about. I got a motorized awning from SunSetter and it was good, except that it was too high and wasn't working in the area that gets sun all the time. Other than at night, I could sit out there nice. There’s a breeze through that area which makes it comfortable. But primarily, I wanted to sit there and have coffee in the mornings. So, I called for a couple of guys who were very skilled and strong. They’ve lowered it and now, I got plenty of head room. When I put that side to side, it blocks the sun. It works very well that way.
I don’t say nice things about stuff if I don’t feel it but I've recommended SunSetter to others and there were people that got interested for the same reason that I have. I'd wanted to get awnings out here for many years, but I just put it off until I thought of doing it. Before I started putting away savings, I thought I gotta find out how much those are. I was talking to my neighbor and she told me to come up because she had one over her kitchen window. We have terrible winds here and I asked what she does for that. She said she winds the awning up and gets it out of the wind. She also told me to come out and look at her boyfriend’s on his house. She said that they have one where all I have to do is have it connected and it automatically goes in on its own.
I just got my awning up the day before yesterday and it took two days for it to be installed. Last night we had it plugged in, but the electrician hasn’t come to put the electricity in for when the wind blows, so we're waiting for him. I also ordered the hood that protects the awning from the sun, but when I measured, it goes under the overhang on the eight-footer. I didn’t realize it because I thought the thing would just get it up and then it would snap it on over but, on the 16-footer, the installer said he had to have clearance. The roof comes down too soon for him to slide it in, so I was going to return two boxes that he told me to return.
Overall my SunSetter awnings are absolutely beautiful. When the installer had it up, he didn’t even have it out yet and I could see the edge of it coming down, and I said to myself that I picked the right color. I show it to everybody and they're “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” and they've only seen it just partway out. I would recommend SunSetter to everybody.

Most of the negative reviews that I read on SunSetter were directly related to the installation process. One of the positives though was the ease of installation for an average user, for as long as you have a couple of hands and could read the directions. I understood a little bit about structural framework but because I needed the Sunsetter motorized awning installed on brick veneer, I didn’t feel confident in my ability. So I got ahold of Frank whom I’ve known personally as a friend for a long time and had him do it. And because of the sensitivity of the bend drilled into my brick veneer, I also asked for Frank’s wife’s brother, Terry, ‘cause he’s been installing this stuff for Frank for a long time. I wanted somebody who knew what they were doing. Terry had it up in less an hour and functioning.
The awning's usually used for an outdoor cooking space that I have. We barbecue a lot so I had it installed because inclement weather typically doesn’t deter us. It doesn’t get used that much though. Then we had a microburst come through the other day. It blew our stuff off our fence, turned about a 100-pound umbrella that was weighted down completely sideways and blew my neighbor’s umbrella to my pool. It also blew the awning up in the air, but the awning didn’t bend, didn't get ripped off the wall nor pulled up loose from the veneer. I got my remote and got it closed.

Every afternoon, we have wind coming through in our place and so I don't have to worry about bringing it back up since it'll do it automatically because of the sensor.

There was a little problem though as they had to come back for an issue with the sensor. Also, at the same time, we had them install blinds on our lower deck and one was missing. They checked and it got lost in shipping. But they came back as soon as they got it, which was a week, and reinstalled it. I’m very happy with the quality of the awning. I had an awning that was old and ruined. It's gonna cost me a thousand dollars to buy the canvass so I thought buying an awning would have been a lot little easier because it's retractable. The SunSetter awning was very nice. I bought two of them off of them -- one two years ago and one this year on two different properties. I bought a 12x12 feet. It's a self-retractable with a remote control and I got the upgraded canvass and the winter cover.
The installation team was the same people that did my last one and they were great people. They convinced me that it was the best product and helped me. I asked the questions and they answered it. They came in and three hours later it was all installed. They had a few little issues and they were able to overcome them and make it right with my roof design. We put the awning at the beach house. It's right on the ocean and sometimes it's nice to be out of the sun and sometimes it's nice to be in the sun. I've already told many people that this is a little expensive but if you want an awning, you want an awning and this have all conceptions and it's good quality, so I'd tell them to buy it.

We had to go and meet them to get it to my home, which, if I didn't know people down there, that would've been a big problem for me. I also asked for an installer but SunSetter Awnings said they couldn't have one. So I just installed it yesterday because I had it for a house in another state and I got my chance to go down there. The color goes okay with the house but the awning is hanging very low so I have a problem with that as well. But quality-wise, the awning's fine.

The way our house is set up, we have a lot of big windows in the west that are exposed to the afternoon sun. They're 5 feet high and 3.5 feet wide and we have five of them on the deck across the back of the house, as well as a double French door. So that lets a lot of light in and it makes the house hot in the afternoon. We liked the products that SunSetter Awnings offered and when we met with Mike, the San Antonio local dealer who was very nice and informative, we decided to go with them. We talked in his office for an hour and he had a model in there and he showed it to us, as well as the different options for colors and all of that. He also explained the process and how he had to order it with Beachhead.
Then, the expectations that he gave us were excellent and right on as far as the timing of it. It was awesome. SunSetter was priced more than the other options we found, but we had choices. We then got a retractable awning, the longest one we could get, since our deck is long in the back. The unit extends and it's 20 feet out. Once the unit came in, Mike was out in two days. The only reason he wasn't out the first day was because we weren't gonna be home. Then, the installation went great. Three people came out and they did the job quickly.
Since having the awning, the house has been cooler. We have it open during the day and it blocks direct sunlight. We still have to close a couple of the blinds on the windows because the awning wasn't long enough to reach each end of them but it's no big deal. We let them sit out at night when the sun is still setting and then we adjust it. Sometimes we have it fully opened, sometimes we just have it partially opened. I was out there the other night after dinner and I had an open partial and I was planting some plants. If we didn't have the awning, the sun would be heating down on me. So it's very nice.

The time was right too. SunSetter's price was quite competitive and they were very responsive. They called me right back and they came out and did the measurement.
I got one of the bigger, motorized ones and the installation went well. They were in and out in about an hour, and they were very good. But I thought when they first put it up, the arms extended out completely so that they’re perpendicular to the house. But after it had been up for a few days, I started having trouble getting the unit to extend all the way out. It goes most of the way out and then it stops. The arms don’t fully extend and they’re bent in a little bit. So I need to call the installer back. That aside, I've been happy with the product, the application and the installation. They were good grade vinyl and motored, with all the options like the lights and wind speed sensor. I had a great experience with our installer and the way they do business.
We leave our awning open and it covers our outside patio dining table. It’s a very easy product and it’s better than having a built-in patio cover. The installers were very efficient too. They explained everything--how to use the lights and about the wind things that’ll detect when the wind is too much, it’ll close itself. We got a 15x10 awning in light tan with the light brown smaller stripe on it. It's all automatic and we've got the lights and the storm or wind things. We’re very pleased with it. Also, the SunSetter team was very good. They answered all my questions and gave the right answer. I bought a metal cover over my awning and when I called the other day to ask if they had something else that I could put over that whole thing in the winter, like a vinyl cover, so I could keep the snow out of it, they said, "No." I’m hoping the installation holds in the winter months because there are only four bolts in it. Still, it works nice and I like it. I'd tell friends who ask about my awning to give SunSetter a call. They’d get some use out of it and they’d enjoy it.

I purchased a house last summer and wanted to have a little shade in the back. I liked SunSetter's reputation and price. I also checked out a couple companies and I preferred SunSetter's salesman and his presentation. The installation was all good. I got a 9’x10’ awning with the motorized remote control. When I’ve had some people over in the afternoon and the patio is in the sun, I can open the awning and it gives us some shade.

I wanted some awning over my patio and I saw the SunSetter commercial on the Inspiration Channel. I thought that would work and it would be cheaper than putting a roof on. The sales representative was great, really nice, and didn't talk me into things that I didn't need. I ordered the awning and it would be put up once the house's siding would be done. I'd recommend SunSetter Awnings.

My daughter’s had a SunSetter awning for years, and it's the automatic one with the motor and the remote. When I bought this house a year ago, it had a SunSetter awning but it wasn’t automatic and it was old. My son-in-law and I put it out once, and he had to crank it up. It wasn’t hard to do at all but I didn’t wanna do that because I’m old. I just wanted to get something that was very easy for me. SunSetter didn’t have the parts for it anymore but I wanted one so I just bought this one. The salesman was very nice too. I had a piece of siding on the front of the house and he said he’d fix it for me when he came to put the SunSetter up. And he did. They really did a nice job and I was very pleased with them.
I also liked the way SunSetter advertised. They've got $200 off which was a nice thing and I got some other things with the awning like the curtains on the side and the lights. I’m not going to use those though, and I should’ve gotten the cover instead of one of those. But I had told them I didn’t need the cover because it’s under a wide eave of the house and that’s the only thing I should’ve done differently. Also, the other awning was in excellent shape and I hate just throwing it away. I should have let SunSetter take it or I wish someone had bought it. If someone was handy, they could put it on there house.
My deck isn’t a rectangle or a square. It goes out about 10 feet and then it angles in on both sides so that made an awning awkward to get. I just got the same size the previous owners had, which went out quite far but not to the end of the deck. I just have to have my furniture in a little bit farther than I have to put it normally but the awning works fine. I picked the green and sort of a taupe stripe, and I like that the color matches the house beautifully.
My kitchen and dining room is really a big section of the house. I have French doors and big windows that go almost from the ceiling to the floor. The whole dining room is glass on one side and when the sun poured in, it got really hot. I’m sure that was why the previous owners had an awning and that was also why I wanted it again. The awning is wonderful for that and I absolutely love it. I put it out and it makes the kitchen a lot cooler. Living in my house is much better and nicer with the awning. I don’t know what I would do without it in this house and I highly recommend it.

I wanted to get an insurance on my SunSetter awning and when I called them they told me I couldn't get it from them because I didn’t purchase it from them directly but through the installer. They told me I would have to contact my installer. So I left a message with the installer but nobody ever got back to me about it. Now if I had purchased it from SunSetter directly, I would have to install it myself. My husband and I couldn’t do that. So we went through the channel that SunSetter told us. They gave us the installer and all the information. So you would think that SunSetter would allow me to buy the insurance on the SunSetter because everything else was fine. So I'm kind of upset about that.
But I like the awning. We also had a SunSetter awning before when we lived in the house we moved into at '55, except we didn’t have the motorized SunSetter that we have now. When we lived in that house, my husband used to be able to do all those things. But now that he has dementia he can’t do any of the work. So I figured I might as well get a motorized one because if there is a problem, I can call the installer. But other than that, I can operate it. I’m satisfied with SunSetter.

We moved into a townhome area and I didn’t wanna put up a pergola because it doesn't give enough shade. And then it’s up all year and sooner or later, we’re gonna have to replace it. We were out at the Home Gardens and saw some patios and we saw the SunSetter shades. The woman taking care of the booth started us and then she gave our information to the salesman. So, he came in and talked to us. I almost didn’t go with it because of the price. But after all, we didn’t wanna put up a pergola which would cost us more than the SunSetter. And then when we did it, we had some incentives that they get to buy it because of it being off at the show. Also, we did our research and learned about their very good warranty, among other stuff.
SunSetter was more than what we wanted. They had the installer come in and he explained everything that he was doing. Then he raised it so somebody 6’5" wouldn’t hit their head on it if they come in up the stairs. He showed us how to do it and how to install it and if there was any problems. And so, we’re the first one out of 40 of the townhomes here to get it and people are interested to see how it was gonna look. It's the top of the line model and we have the remote control to let it out and we can’t do it by hand.
The SunSetter gave enough shade that it covers our big sliding glass doors in the patio that we’re putting it. It would give shade on that and we can still have the curtains drawn so we can see out, but not look straight at the heat and the sun. We had a direct south exposure and we put the SunSetter out the other day when it was really sunny and it kept the kitchen cooler by blocking the sun out. I enjoyed my experience with SunSetter and have sent people to another show.

We wanted to get an awning years ago but we never did. This time, we moved in to a new condo and we made our final move, so we got our awning. We heard a lot of good things about SunSetter and they were the only one we've ever been interested in. Also, the condo developers and builders offered the option of the SunSetter awning then their employees put it up. It's a beautiful item and we love its color and design. It perfectly fits our condo. We also got the hood that went with it which is a great feature as it keeps the awning covered from the sun and bad weather. Everything is remote-controlled on the awning and it's fabulous. We got the automatic wind thing, too, that goes right on the awning. So, it's great and we're sorry we didn't purchase one a lot sooner for our other home. Now we can go out on the patio and enjoy it. The awning is so convenient to have and it's classy. We would tell our friends not to hesitate to get one.

We had talked about getting an awning years ago. We had a big 70-foot tall pine tree that was right by our deck that used to give a shade. And that pine tree got a disease, so I had to chop it down. Then we looked at SunSetter. We got the DVD years ago and we just called the guy. SunSetter is reputable and they’re well-known throughout the whole country so we decided to have an awning from them. The installation went smoothly. I hired a contractor to do it and they were here about four or five hours and they did a really good job. They were very friendly and congenial, and they showed me how it worked before they left. I’ve been happy ever since.
The awning that we got has green and white stripes with the tan which matches the house. It’s a 12 by 15 and it’s motorized. We got the tiny little lights with it too which were attached to the house, right above the patio door, and the patio door goes out onto the deck. I call it utopia because we got palm trees there, the awning, the deck, the nice chair and the glass table. The dog loves the awning too. He lays down and looks up when that thing is moving. The first time we made it move, he ran. But now he likes it. And he lays there at night and looks up at the light and he thinks they're stars. Our SunSetter awning is great. I would tell others to get one.

I had heard about it before and that’s the one I wanna do business with. We sent it in, got the package, made the deal, and we’re all set to go now. We got an electric motor roof mount that’s 20 x 11. The installers were fast and very polite. It was a one-day installation that was completed in less than six hours and it was great. There was a big post with the old, metal awning, so it was in the way with the outdoor table. Now, with the SunSetter on, we don’t have the post and there seems to be more room. When we took the SunSetter out, I heard a big old click on my house and I’m afraid to even use it now because I don't know if that means something cracked on my house or something was broken when they installed it. I don’t trust the installation and the guy is the only guy in Michigan. The awning we got is green with a stripe and it’s large. It also has lights on it. When trying to purchase an awning I was naturally able to find all kinds of poor reports however I am one that believes if people have a issue they will write a bad report however if they have few or no problems they don't say anything. That being said we purchased our unit (XL 20' Awning) in August of 2015. Here is what we have till now. We have been very pleased with the product and the installation. Although I felt as though I could have installed the unit the installed price was what I felt was worth it... It took 3 men to do the install and they all seem well qualified, were neat and professional. When they did the prelim on the project they ask if we could get an electrician to install a 120V outside power plug which we did, no problem.
The quality of the product seem sturdy and we have had no issue to date with the equipment... I am hopeful that we will see 7 to 10 years of use out of the SunSetter. We have had no issues and the only thing we are trying to do now is blend the Somfy remote control with our Amazon Alexa echo system. There are not real instruction that I have been able to find thus far and am hoping Sunsetter will respond to my email request. Otherwise all is well, I would recommend this product.

The guy that came and did the initial sales call was very knowledgeable and really personable, and we liked him. We purchased a motorized awning and it's a 10 x 12. The installation was very efficient. The installation guys did a really good job. They're a great team and it didn’t take them time to do it. We've got several dogs and we use the awning to sit out and watch them play. I've also got to watch being in the sun because I take blood thinners and I can't be in a real direct sun for long periods of time, so my awning helps that way. This whole thing began with Costco. They had an offer in their monthly program.
I also found SunSetter by calling Weather Armor, a local dealer. The president of Weather Armor called me within 24 hours after my leaving a message. He is a distributor and he has licenses for Ohio and West Virginia. He's a very active and effective guy as well. And then, he got his lead salesman for Northeastern Ohio to come up and see me. I got the VISTA awnings. It's a SunSetter retractable awning. It's 20 x 12 and it's kind of an off light that matches the siding of our house which is important in our neighborhood so I didn't have to get the approval of the homeowners' association and I had the dealer's guys install it. But I may wind up another awning because I don’t think it’s quite long enough and that was my error in measuring. The installer said that they can easily remove it, move it over and then put the other one up. So they're good. I use the awning all the time. We called and got an appointment the same day that they were going to talk to them so they didn’t have to sell it very much since we were already sold. Our neighbor on the other side had already bought it so he sold three within the space of an hour.
We got the 20-footer awning and it was acrylic in colors to match our vinyl siding and shutters. We got the remote and the wind detector as well which was a special that day. But instead of the snap-on cover, we got the vinyl cover that keeps it intact and covered all winter. The installation was delayed a couple times -- once because of the weather and once because of a personal issue with one of the installers. In spite of that, it was very efficient. They were actually ready to go too quickly in a sense because I haven’t got the okay from the homeowners association yet. So I had to put them off a week or so. We’ve ordered at a price and that was the price I paid. Everything was as I expected it should be.
The installers called and said when they were to come. And they came when they said they would. They put it up quickly and that was the end of it. The installers did not leave any mess behind. We’ve used the awning twice and it retracts when you need it. My wife can't climb the hill 'cause she staggers, and if we put an awning on, we'd have something we could use that would be in the shade. The guy from SunSetter came out and talked with us, and he did a bunch of measuring 'cause it's a 19-foot awning. I made a comment about it being manual, and he said, "You probably don't want that." I said, "No. 'Cause if I'm not here, my wife has to do it, so we need electric." He went over the options as to what the differences were and how it worked, and then my wife picked some colors. They were here an hour to an hour and a half and they were done. They gave us all the paperwork and showed us how everything worked. They also gave us information about wind stuff 'cause we didn't get a wind sensor.
We haven't had the weather to use the SunSetter awning yet, but I'd recommend it for the most part. We're gonna use part of it to help block the front of the house from the sun in the summertime and that might help to keep the house cooler. The awning is a black and white stripe and it also retracts to the roof, which is a great feature. We don’t have to shovel snow off the top of the roof in the wintertime. And I can tuck it out of the way on a cloudy day. Then I got my barbecue set up right next to the awning and so it comes down and covers the back door then we can put chairs underneath there. The installation people were very good and they could have done the job with eyes closed. But I wish that their salesman told me everything when he came out. I made a big issue out of the fact that I'm in a windy area and that I wouldn’t leave. I asked, “What if I’m sitting under the awning and a wind picks up?” It was the installers that told me to have the safety mechanism put on and that it would be $218. If the wind should pick up to 60, the awning would automatically close without me even doing it. But the salesman never told me about it.
I called SunSetter and I asked them to order me one of those little mechanisms. The lady was a little snippy. I told her I wished I had been told about the safety mechanism option and she told me she would put me in touch with my salesman. But I didn't want to talk to him. We have sunlight on that back until about 2:00 in the afternoon so, it’s usable throughout the day. So far, we haven’t had any problems and we don’t expect any. I also got a couple of compliments on it. I had a friend that had one so I knew what to expect and it’s what I expected. I would tell friends how and why I use it as well as what it caused me to use it. I would tell them that I looked at others and this is the one I chose and they should get the same model that we have.

We had been wanting to get an awning because my husband doesn't like the sun. Our neighbor got awnings last summer and when you think awning, you just think of SunSetter. Everybody was efficient and professional but when I called the 1800 number, I assumed I was getting Wheeler's, the dealer. Instead, I got a receptionist who made me believe that she was the receptionist at Wheeler's and she couldn't speak English very well. She right away wanted my name and address. I was skeptical about getting information over the phone with somebody that was more interested in getting my information than giving me any information. Then when I was asking her questions, she didn’t really understand. When I finally gave her the address, she had a very hard time putting the zip code in. I almost gave it to her in Spanish because she wasn’t understanding it. When I asked her where she was located, she told me that she was in New York.
I then asked her to give me the number of my dealer and I called Wheeler’s and within a few days, their rep, Mark who was very nice, came out. He told us that the awning would work very well because we have windows off our family room but there's a big plank above it and they were able to secure the SunSetter off there. When the guys came, they were here in less time than even expected and it worked great. They took their time and showed the awning to me. They were very prompt and they did a great job. We're very happy that we went with SunSetter.

I've always wanted an awning and I finally got the money. The dealing I had with SunSetter's reps was good. But the boy that put that thing in didn't explain and tell me enough about it after he installed it. I had it working for four days. And after seven days, my daughter-in-law came to see us and she wants to buy one but it wouldn't even work to go up and down. The boy said he'd be here the next day. But he came back two hours later and showed me what to do and what that reset button was down there on that switch. There were three switches in there and he said there was a red and white button. He punched the red button and it took the top off. But there ain't no red and white button in there. It's that little old flap button and it ain't big. It's nothing but an inch square and both of them are white. When he showed it to me, I knew what he was talking about, I reset it and it started working.
However, money was the biggest thing and SunSetter charged way too much for what it was. It costs over a $100 a square foot. It wouldn't go down about $200. I called and wanted my $200 deposit I was supposed to get, and he said that he had taken that off the price. If I haven't had the money, better off the last ten years since I retired, I would have never bought it. Other than that, I like it. They say I got the best material and I hope I did 'cause I sure like to feel like I paid for it. I would recommend them and it all comes down that evening when I called SunSetter and the boy was here in four hours.

The awning got red stripes with beige and it’s a 12-foot electric awning where I just push the button in and out. SunSetter is very organized and efficient with everything they do. I’ve had no problems with them ever. And they take care me. If I have a problem, all I have to do is call them and they’d send me the part I need. It was a great experience and I’d recommend anybody to get this awning.

We moved into a condo and it didn't have an awning at the back. We wanted a nice, little patio with an awning over it. I had seen the advertisements of SunSetter Awnings and we wanted a retractable awning, so I answered the ad and somebody called me right away and I made the appointment. They're the only awning company that's approved by our condo association, other than the ones that have permanent awnings. The awning model that we got from them is 15-foot and motorized. It has the wind sensor on it and it's in the one color that's approved by our condo association here.
The same man that did the selling of the awning installed it with his niece. The installation was fine and didn't take very long. The installer got here around noon or so and he was done early in the afternoon. He even changed the light out and rewired that for us for free because we had a light that was too high for where the awning was gonna go, so I had bought a new light that hung low. But the only thing was that he didn't show me how to put the cover on the awning and I'll figure that out somehow. We've used our awning a couple of times and it has really been nice to sit under it. I've already told some people in our condo that we liked the way our SunSetter awning was done.

We moved in to this new house and there were so many things that needed to be done all at the same time. And one of them was the awning. But we finally got a SunSetter installed. This is the third SunSetter I have purchased. Every house that I’ve moved into, I’ve added a SunSetter awning to it. First of all, they’ve functioned just fine and the price is something that we can afford. I’m a do-it-yourself person so it appeals to me that I'm gonna install it myself.
The new awning looks fine but the installation wasn’t easy. I’m almost 90 years old now and things don’t quite go as easily as they used to. But my wife’s son was here. He’s a big, strapping guy and so he was able to lift it into position because I couldn’t lift the 75 pounds of weight in order to put it on the bracket. I’ve been pleased with everything about it except that it closes by itself. We put it out to keep the sun off of us and all of a sudden, it closes for no reason. We finally just got it functioning just in the last two weeks. So I’ve been wanting to call them to see if they can give me some explanation as to why this is happening.
The awning is motorized. That’s the biggest improvement I’ve made. The last one at our last house was an eight-footer and I really could have used a slightly larger one, but the next size up was too big. So we actually end up with a little less than what we would have liked. But sometimes, you have to adjust. In the last house, we put the awning up at the beginning of the summer and took it down, folded it up at the end of the summer. It was an additional room for us.
The first one was down in Arizona. It was a big thirteen-footer. We used it every day. We had a problem down there. There was a lot of wind, so I never could leave it up like I did up here in Washington. I had to put it out and use it and then when we’re finished, we’d retract it because of we had neighbors who had one and the wind actually just tore it right off the house. So I didn’t want that to happen.
The first two awnings were manual. If they had a motorized back awning it would have been about around 2004. Back then if they did have a motorized one it was out of my price range. So the big change is that they’ve made this motorized awning so I could afford it. I’m very satisfied. I’ve told a lot of people about it. I showed them how it works. This is a retirement community and they highly approved SunSetter. That was one of our first questions when I looked at the first house and the landscape. The manager was out inspecting some of the works that I’ve done. I’ve demonstrated the awning for him and he said that he thought that he might like to get one.

I just push the button and it goes out, and push another button and it comes in. You'll sit under it and drink your lemonade and be happy! I had a sales gentleman and installation group and everybody was very satisfactory. The awning is wonderful except that it's very sensitive to small amount of wind. It could be damaged by strong winds since it slaps up and down. Also, I have not gotten any confirmation of my insurance on it. But everything was very satisfactory.

So we looked up SunSetter, called, and got a representative to come out and talk to us. My husband said they were wonderful when they came to put it up. They did a great job and they were very efficient. He was very pleased with it and we love having it. It just makes the world of difference.
Our awning has like the arms that fold back and forth. It is striped and it does have the wind or alarm thing that makes it go in automatically in the weather. It's one of the high-quality ones. Some days, if the sun's too hot, we just open it up, cooling and helping to shade the interior of the house. We have our outside table and chairs and we've eaten out there several times. We've planned to use it for that all the time. SunSetter is excellent.

It's a nutmeg-colored and it was an electric awning but not the turning one. It isn't too large since it's for a small area. I had to have all my trees cut out of my yard and I had to put a new patio in so I didn’t have any shade. I kept seeing the advertisement in the magazine so I thought of doing it. I have heard about SunSetter for a long time and the sales agent was fairly good. He measured it but he didn’t explain straight and good enough to the workers. I said I wanted it over to the edge of my patio and that way, it will be closer over to my door. When the workers came to install it, they put it way over to the end of the roof so we called them back and they moved it over. They were nice guys and they should have done it right the first time but they wouldn't listen to me. They said they couldn’t do it and it's gotta go all the way around. I told them no and that it was not what was measured. The guy who came and measured did it right but the workers didn’t do it right.
Aside from that, they left a plug with a cord dangling and I could trip on that if I step out since I’m old. So I made them redo that and move the SunSetter over a little bit. They were in a hurry and didn’t pay attention but they came back to fix whatever I was complaining about. I got a motorized awning called Forest Green and in the commercials, I kept seeing that it was very cheap. The materials were $500 but by the time you figure out the taxes, the workers and everything else, it comes to big numbers. I haven’t had a chance to do very much because I had to go to the hospital but I had Bridge at my house yesterday and all the ladies and the gentlemen liked it. We had to order the awning and it took about a week to get it. And then two installation guys put it up. I had no problem at all since then. The installation guys had to move a downspout on a gutter and they did a real nice job with that, and they patched up the old hole. You can't even tell where it was.
They asked me a couple of questions, had me check out the height of it and had me make sure the slope was up high enough. They showed me how to adjust it, how to operate it and how the hand crank worked in case a motor didn't and they were good. It was very clean, in and out. The awning is attached, has a motor and is 16 feet long. It goes out about 10 and is a brown stripe. The awning just allows us to sit outside in the afternoon and enjoy the chaise lounge. I have the sun in the back and it creates too much heat coming through the breezeway and the carport but after I installed my SunSetter it helps keep everything cooler.
The other type of awnings are like the old fashion way, you just hand crank it like an umbrella. But I've seen there was like an automatic or remote control thing with SunSetter so it works nice. I had the wind adjuster thing so if it gets too windy, then it just closes by itself and I like it. But it's not the color I wanted because I wanted just black and white stripe, but I ended up with a gray and black stripe. And it's about 18 x 10. It's a big one. Everybody, including my friends, seems to like it and it creates a lot of shade. They always advertise the discounts and rebates but I ended up paying $3,600 for the damn thing and it was advertised at a certain price. But that's the average size. I wanted to get more use out of my patio. I live in Georgia so it’s hot and a lot of times, it’s nice to sit out there with that direct sun you feel. I looked into purchasing an awning and SunSetter was the only awning company I looked at because of the reputation. I worked with Randy and he was awesome. He did everything he said he’d do and he showed up when he said he would. His helpers were nice and everything went very smoothly. I got what I ordered, but I didn’t like the color. I even didn’t like the fabric that I picked. But Randy swapped that out for me at no charge and didn’t even charge me labor to swap it out, which was really nice because it was my fault. So, I couldn’t say enough about Randy.
My only issue was with the shipment through UPS. Both times the SunSetter Awnings team came in and UPS wouldn’t deliver the awning for days. One of the installers sat there close to a week and a half and UPS wouldn’t deliver it to him. He was sending me copies of the tracking showing that it was in the area and not delivered. Awnings are big and bulky and they probably take up a lot of room on the truck. It might be hard to work around, but still, it should be 10 days if they tell a customer 10 days. But that wasn’t Randy's fault, it was UPS’s.
I went back and ordered another sunshade after that. And once he got it, he came right out and got it right to me. I was very pleased. Then, I have a neighbor who loves it and said that they thought about getting one, but they didn’t wanna get a SunSetter because his wife said that it’s something an old person would have, like a retirement home. I bought two awnings the same time and the brackets of the other awning were missing for the hood. So that never got shipped out after way after. But point being I had the installers call the manufacturer to see if they can do anything for me because it took three weeks to get the thing sorted out and get the installers out here to do it.
The installer guys told me the manufacturers said they’re not gonna do anything for me in terms of compensating me for the time that was completely wasted. So I’m not gonna buy anything from them again nor would I ever recommend anybody to them again. That’s terrible customer service. What happened was the front one that was exposed to the element -- the rain and everything, has no hood on it. So it was just terrible. And it isn’t really exactly cheap. I spent 7,000 and change for the two of them and that’s cash money. You’ve spent so much money on something you would think they can help you out with something else. Like, “Hey. Yeah, we know messed up. This thing came in damaged. Here’s 200 bucks off or whatever hell it might be.” I’m not asking for a 50% discount or anything. SunSetter Awnings is in some ways, good and in some ways, not so good. We don’t have much shade in our backyard and we have a patio that’s totally exposed to the sun. We explored various options and decided that SunSetter Awnings was the way we wanted to go. They advertise a lot and it’s the only one I really knew about. I’ve always read good things about them and we had a local dealer. The carpenters came out to install the SunSetter awnings and quickly learned that there was nothing solid enough for them to attach the awning to with the brackets. It’s not what they called a fascia which is the decorative board that runs below the soffit. When they went to attach to that, we found out that there was this six- inch gap between that board and where our house starts.
That wasn’t the carpenter’s fault but we had to figure out a way to get something back there. And one of the things that annoyed me was that they suggested mounting it on the roof and to me, that looked terrible. We have pine trees across the back of our yard and the awning would have been full of pine needles. There’s no way I would have attached it to the top of the house. They say people do that but to me, it looks tacky, so I told them we were not doing that. I replaced the soffit and fascia at the back of the house and while they had the old soffit and fascia off, we removed the board and they added boards behind there so that he’ll be able to attach the awning. We don’t have it attached yet so when the guy came out the first time and said he couldn’t attach the awning, I told him to take it back and keep it at their warehouse until we can get this worked out, which they did. The carpenter was very cooperative.
The owner of the dealership which is actually a fireplace store has SunSetter Awnings as a side service. And it’s mostly just dealing with the owner of that store that has not been the most pleasant experience. He’s not a people person. Also, the salesman that sold it to us ought to do a bit more checking to see whether they have everything they need to attach an awning before they sell it to us. We took care of getting that fixed but that cost me a couple thousand dollars. I would have been doing it probably next year anyway and we just had to do it a bit prematurely.
Then I called dealership and told them to come on back out and the rep said it’s gonna be June 4th before they can get here. We were already on their list so I asked if they can put us in a little earlier and he said they're booked up until June 4th, so we have to wait 'til then. When I asked if they can put us on their list for any cancellations, he said they'll consider us. Nevertheless, the carpenter who came out was extremely respectful and was very professional. But all he does is install awnings and he couldn’t fix the problem.
I’ve already paid half down on this awning and they're custom made. I knew that we're gonna have to come up with a different solution for our shade and that probably we are gonna have a battle. How am I supposed to know that a house that was built in 1960 didn’t have wood behind there to attach to? Maybe more needs to be done upfront since these awnings are custom made. I feel that the SunSetter awning is very pricey but we decided we were gonna do it anyway so that was our call. My overall feeling is that what it actually cost them to make those and install them is a lot less than what they’re charging for their product.

I ordered the metal cover for it and when they opened up the box, the metal cover was incomplete so then we had to reorder that and that took quite a while. They should have had all their stuff together on the parts before they even came to the house.
We weren’t home when they installed the cover and then, a couple of days later, my son found a tear in the awning so now, they’re looking at what they're going to do about that. I let the person who installed it know about it and I sent pictures last Monday but I haven’t heard anything back from them. When the awning came, it was nice and it looked like it was quality-built. So far, I've used it a couple of times and it worked really well so I'm happy with the installation and the awning but I’m hoping that they do it right and resolve the tear.

We cleared off our deck and we had room for an awning. I liked what I saw on the website of SunSetter Awnings. I called and spoke to them and the reps were very helpful on the phone. The SunSetter Awnings team was terrific. They said they would give answers to my questions and they did. They were very upfront as well. They didn’t try to pressure me in any way and it was a very relaxing experience with them. The installation crew also did a terrific job and it was perfect. SunSetter is good. I would give their contact information to my friends who are considering getting an awning.

We had considered an awning for some time and decided that we better do it sooner rather than later. We purchased our SunSetter awning through a recreation warehouse and we had already looked at it a few times so we were familiar with it and marked that vendor. Then the team came, measured and installed the awning within an hour or two. They were in and out before we even knew it. The awning is attached to the garage, it’s motorized and green striped. It was well worth it. I would recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We had been thinking about getting an awning for quite a while since we had no shade on our little patio. So we got a motorized black and brown awning from Sunsetter and I got the protective cover to put over for the winter. The people at Sunsetter were very professional and very nice. We got it ordered and they came and put it up. The installation team were done within a couple of hours and it works fine. They were very knowledgeable and showed me what I needed to do. So far I've only had the awning opened a couple of times because of the weather but as far as the quality and materials it looks like it's gonna be fine.

The hot sun is on our patio and I got a SunSetter Awnings referral from a neighbor and friend. The SunSetter team came and gave us a positive experience for the installation. They were timely, arrived when they said they would and quick about getting it done. They were very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The awning is a merlot stripe and it has the wind detector. It is motorized, has the LED lights, the side shade and the hood cover as well. I would tell others to get a SunSetter awning.

I called SunSetter Awnings after seeing their ads on the tv and I was satisfied with everything. They brought out the awning I ordered and put it in. They did what they needed to do and they told me about it. My mobile home is a cream color and they didn’t have an awning that was an exact match so I got one that is white at the top and across the bottom and with green stripes. It looks good with the awning and the awning is 12 foot wide. I’ve been sick that I haven’t even got a chance to buy a glider for my deck so I could sit out there but the awning keeps the sun out of the living room of my mobile home and makes it nicer. And if anyone asks, I’d tell them to get a SunSetter awning.

We had a brick patio out in the back and half of the time, we didn't use it as it was getting warmer. The sun was a problem and an umbrella didn't cover a group of people sitting around. We really enjoy sitting outside. We’ve always heard positive things about SunSetter Awnings and in our community, many people have had SunSetter and are satisfied. My husband and I were very pleased from start to finish with the salesperson who came out. He was very thorough. He answered all of your questions and we liked what we heard as answers. The price was within the range that we had in our mind. We went through the salesperson to get a 17x11 feet motorized awning and he had someone install it for us. They were very business-friendly, picking up after themselves and being respectful of the property. We love the awning. It enabled us to expand another room out and use it more often.

We needed an awning that would set its own umbrella and we went to the SunSetter outlet. We’ve seen SunSetter commercials and they have name recognition, and so I got in contact with the sales consultant guy. He came out, showed me different options and measured the stuff. He came up with ideas and he recommended one of the colors that suits the house. I looked at the type of colors and I like it. We looked it over, made the decision and then we called them back. The rep set up the time to install it and I got a large size awning that is motorized and with a remote.
When the installers came out, they put the awnings on quickly. So far, the awning is working but there’s a little gap there. I gotta have the guys come back and take a look. We’re into the season so the awning just opened up. We kept it open since last week and it’s raining here today so the awning blocks the rain. So far, so good. If you’re looking for a type of awning which fits in easily, SunSetter is one. SunSetter awnings are expensive but it’s all right.

The back of the house faces the west and we would like being outdoors and it is pretty hot down here in Florida so we thought if we could go with the largest awning that would be helpful and it worked. I did research a little bit and there were some people in the neighborhood that their daughters have it, and they've had it for five, six, seven years and never had a problem. So I said, I'm gonna go with something that's got that kind of a reputation. We love it. I was very pleased with SunSetter. We got a motorized awning that is colored tan and has beige stripes on it. I was very happy with the sales because he made good recommendations and suggestions. His installation was good. He was very professional.
However, we have one small incident right now. The wind has rubbed the canvas part of the awning two little holes in there so I've gone up there and I foamed rubber around where it was rubbing and making the holes. But I don't know if there's a way we can patch it. The gentleman who installed it was well aware of it and said that they need to cut that back but I think he forgot.

I just had a new deck put in and I've been looking at the awnings in SunSetter's commercials for years and I thought I'd try one. My experience with the team at SunSetter Awnings was generally okay but they sent me the wrong cover and I had to order another one which was a little traumatic. When the awning was shipped, it was bent and I couldn't get it to straighten out. It was like a curtain that was not hanging straight. I called them and they said that it should straighten out after I have it put up. I left it a month or so but it never did, so I ordered another one and they sent one without a problem. They didn’t want the cover back so I had to find a place to do something with it. It was 13 feet long and aluminum, so it was a big package.
I had a neighbor that had the same awning but it wasn’t motorized and it was quite a job getting it cranked up and down. So, I immediately made a decision to go with motorized and I really liked it. It's good. I had help with the installation since I'm older and I can't get in the ladder well anymore, but it wasn’t easy. You have to know what you're doing or you mess things up. But the installation went well and it worked. I would definitely recommend SunSetter Awnings and I would tell others that I buy from them. And if I needed anything else, I'd look there first. The people were all knowledgeable and cooperative. They're doing a good job except they have to be a bit more careful when they ship the awning so they ship the right thing.

We've been looking at an awning for a year and looked at all online purchasing places. I ended up calling Sunsetter directly and we seem to have gotten the best deal and service calling them. I also had a great experience with their representatives. In fact, I called back to the same fellow and we bought some aftermarket accessories as well. However, I talked to the local SunSetter guys and I wasn't impressed with their installer. I installed the brackets myself since the instructions were easy. But it was a sixteen-foot awning, so I needed a couple of buddies to help me get the awning up.
We have it for five months now and have no issues with it. However, I purchased the extra five-year warranty but I haven't gotten the final invoice documenting that I received the awning, overhead, hood, wind sensor and the extended warranty. But I’ve paid five months on a row on my AmEx. Other than that, Sunsetter has been amazing. They have turned our deck into an additional 160 feet of living area which we should have done 12 years ago.

I had had an awning at a home that we had before we moved and it worked out wonderfully. Then, I was putting a screen porch on that had to have a screen roof and I knew I needed shade. Somebody suggested that and clicked in my mind, "Oh, yeah." My previous one was a SunSetter and there were a lot of features that I really liked like the remote. I didn't even look at another company.
The man who came out to measure and talk to me about it was great. And the same guy who sold it and another man came out and installed it. I have my SunSetter on this enclosed porch and I have the full 20 feet motorized awning. We use it mainly for the shade and when we're out on the porch, I open it. I really like the product but when I'm using my remote, I have to be on top of it because otherwise, it will hit the end of the porch. The guy could not tell me how to set that remote so it would stop and he said, "Go online and figure it out." I can't do that. Af first I thought it would be easy but I'm untechie. I'm very afraid with it if my grandkids come over because it could ruin it. Somehow, I have to figure out how to set that remote so that it stops that awning from opening all the way.

I got the information on SunSetter and found out who the local distributor was and contacted him. And he came to my house, showed me the possibilities, measured, and gave me a quote. He was fine. The installation was good. I wanted them to make sure it was as I needed it to be done and it was not a problem. We’re still having crappy weather, but I had the awning out a couple of weeks ago. It went out and back in again just fine. SunSetter is already working with a friend to get one on their house.

I bought a Sunsetter awning, motorized with led lights. I love the awning. Five year warranty, but when awning needed a repair or service we were told to watch a video so we could repair it ourselves. I asked about local dealers and was told they don’t like to repair. Wow. Not everyone can do their own repairs. I still have a crooked awning and can’t get the screws loose to level it. The only help from Sunsetter is watch a video. Sickening.

We needed some shade for various portions of our house and for our porches. However, it has got to be the right price, has a good reputation, and the color was very important because it has to be compatible with the house colors. We did our research and my wife and I liked both the price, the quality, and the color selections at SunSetter Awnings. Moreover, the team who sold it to us was very knowledgeable and my wife handled those negotiations.
The installers were extremely well qualified. They took their time and made sure we knew how to operate the system. Since we purchased two motorized awnings, one for the ground level and one for the second floor - it was one in the front of the house and one in the back of the house - their team worked with us. The installers were better than the person who sold it to us. It's because we got it here and you could look at, you could see that they had a very good understanding of how it had to fit and looked right. So far, we use our awnings primarily for shade.
