SunSetter Awnings is the largest American manufacturer of retractable patio, window and deck awnings. The company produces four different awning types, including motorized and manual hand-cranked models. I've always wanted a set of awnings because I like them. They look nice on people's homes. I got the motorized model and chose SunSetter because I like the brand. I like the way they look and their colors. Also, their team was very nice and intelligent. They did a good job putting it up. So far, everything is fine.

I had moved into a new house and experienced the summer without an awning, so I decided it was time to get one. A friend had a booklet from SunSetter Awnings. Also, some other people in the area where I live in who have an awning all have SunSetter. The company's team was very helpful. They wanted to make sure that I have the height that I needed.
The only disadvantage I had was that I was leaving for an overseas trip and the awning did not get here before I left. What ended up happening was I got ahold of the truck company where I was supposed to be and gave them a friend's phone number so they could contact that person, yet they ended up leaving a message on my phone. But, it all worked out fine. My friend was able to take the delivery and he was able to get it installed while I was gone. I would definitely recommend SunSetter. Several neighbors stopped by and inquired about it because I've had it up and had it out a few times. I also mainly use it to keep out the afternoon sun in my living room.

We weren't using the other half of our patio. We have a screened in porch and the extended patio and I needed more space out back that was usable. I had looked at SunSetter years ago and I really like the way they're made and the fabrics. So, I didn't even consider any other brands when I bought an awning because I was kind of impressed with what SunSetter had to offer. They also did the installation and all of them were very nice. We had a trouble with the motor, but they came out and fixed that. Everything's fine right now.

We built a double-deck in 2015 and the upper deck was always rather hot because it’s on the south side of the house. We started thinking we may want a SunSetter, but we never did anything about it. In March or April of this year, we went to the home show in West Springfield close by to our house and there was a SunSetter display there. I told my husband that I didn’t know if we really need it and then, when we went to the show, I told him that we would just get some information. But when Sergei came and sat down with us and explained everything to us, we decided to do it. We asked some questions and the gentleman was full of information and was very friendly. He was very easy to speak with and to ask questions from and he took his time with us.
We booked an appointment for that day for two weeks later and we knew what we wanted for the most part, but he suggested a few things to us that we probably never would have gotten if he hadn’t suggested it. About a week later, it was installed. My husband and I had spoken before and we thought that we wouldn’t need the LED lights. And when the gentleman was here, he mentioned to us that we have some lights on the deck, but the way these lights would illuminate would be mostly for the other side and the whole deck would be lit. So, we decided to go with his suggestion. We made the right choice and we are so pleased. The other thing that he suggested was, since it was the upper deck, for our canopy to reach a bit farther than the railing. And this way, when it rains outside, we are well covered. That was something that we never even thought of.
He knew what he was talking about with everything that he recommended. It really added value to not just the look of the house, but value to the house because when people come over, it’s like a whole other room out there now. Everyone is so well covered and come night time, we turn on the lights and we don’t have to go into the house. It’s really nice.
The two installers knew exactly what they were doing. They explained everything to us before they did it and set themselves up. They were here an hour and 15 minutes at the most. They were professional, polite, neat as a pin and there was nothing left behind. They picked up after themselves and wiped everything down. They left the place better than it was when they came. Another thing is they insisted on someone being home during the installation and that was such a good thing. I wouldn’t be comfortable not being home even though they didn’t have to have access to the house. And before they left, they gave us another business card and they said told that if any questions come up or for any problem we have, for us to give them a call and they’ll be here. So far, there’s no problem and we use it practically every day.
I was very happy and I’m totally thrilled with it. I’m glad that I got it and it was from these people. I made photocopies of their business card and I told others about SunSetter because people don’t really think about it until they experience it. People has told me they have thought of this, but they weren’t sure and they were kinda leery. And I told them not to think about it twice and get it done. I was very pleased with them and I know there are other people out there, but I have recommended them to everyone who has come to my home.

Our deck in the summertime gets really hot. We don't have any shade back there so we decided it was time to purchase an awning. The SunSetter team was here when they said they would be and they were proficient. We got a motorized awning and the installation team was excellent. We're satisfied with the product and we've set with the neighbor to sit out there just to read the paper and hang out outside.

I wanted an awning on one on the side of the house and I didn't care about aluminum sidings as I've seen them collapse on the snow. SunSetter's salesman told me everything and I got a 10 x 16 motorized awning that is brick red with a stripe in it. Their team came, installed it and the experience was great. The only problem was they advertised on TV that I could get it for as low as $500 if I'd get a tiny one but what they were showing on TV was not the one that would be $500. Mine started at $2,900. Other than that, I like the awning. I also like that it doesn’t have to stay out all the time and I have a remote to pull it in.

I purchased an awning from SunSetter because I wanted to protect myself from the sun at my little hobby shop and keep the cancer off my head and my back. The awning has the best quality. The installers and the other guys I bought it from did a good job. I have a motorized, sand and burgundy colored awning with LED lights and it's very beautiful. Mine is actually different because the guys said it's the highest they ever mounted. They mounted it up 12 feet because it's above a 12-foot working door. But it works very nice and I love it.
I'm able to work in the rain and in the hot sun. I have a wind sensor on it and it works good. But they have to send me $50 credit for all the people that are gonna buy from them because there's six people that are gonna buy from them. My brother-in-law and a bunch of people that have looked at it said, "I gotta get one." They were gonna do something else but they decided to do this instead because it looks so nice and works so nice.

Over my deck, it gets really hot there from the sun. I heard SunSetter had good products so I got an awning. The installers were quick. I had to go to a place about 40-mile away and when I came back two hours later, they were gone and the work was done. However, I had to redo the wiring for the motor on the awning. The salesman that came out told me that they would put the cord to my socket but the installers said they couldn’t do that because they didn't want to go on my roof. So, I went out and did it myself. I got the loads and got some brackets which cost me a little extra.
Also, I had them comeback because there was a big belly in the awning. When the guys came back to fix it, the guy told me, "Do you understand this remote?" I said, "Yeah." "Well, if I have to come back, it's $175 for me." I said, "You gotta be kidding me. I spent $5,000 and you gotta tell me that." Nonetheless, I love my SunSetter awning. It is a good product. The first thing to do in the morning when I see that the wind's not blowing hard, I put it out and I enjoy it. It's a maroon with white stripes down it. I got the LED type, the wind sensors, so it was almost $5,000. I went top of the line. I love the LED light. It lights the whole deck up.

I've seen SunSetter Awnings' advertising off and on over the years. I actually did sit in for one of their packages and watched a video. It's just that I have a patio and an eastern exposure, which is really, really sunny, and getting an awning just made sense. I wanted the shade for obvious reasons, rain protection, but I also wanted the ability to open it up because I didn't want to shade all my plants over there all day long. I needed something that would open and close, depending on when and where I was using it.
The installation was good. The installers always kept me updated on when the delivery would be scheduled. I had a Saturday installation because it was convenient for me. The installer wanted me to be around and I needed to work during the week. Also, I don't know if SunSetter ship UPS or freight or whatever, but the guys in the warehouse used a forklift on the awning and I had a 20-footer so they bin it in the middle. The installers went to all the trouble to put it together and started rolling out, and the thing's going 'loop, loop, loop', and the installer said he'd seen that happen.although he didn't imply it was SunSetter's guys. He thought when it was getting freighted out and redelivered. It was a delivery at his place and then he brought it out, so I didn't have to deal with a 20-foot tube in my front yard.
Moreover, the quality is excellent. I like the finishes on everything, it looks good and it's a nice color. I let my daughter pick it. It was absolutely perfect from the inside and the outside. There is one thing that I would recommend. I have the lights and I have the motor so I need two plugs. I have two plugs right next to my slider, so it worked out perfectly. But the one of the plugs come out and goes down. And so, you can't put two plugs. The two plugs that they sent, one is a bent 90 and one is straight out or bent, and so you can't use it. You have to put an adapter on there. I'm sure a lot of people have the light and the motor, so you have to put either an expansion deal just so you can put more plugs in. So you're plugging a plug into a plug, or in my case, the installer just cut the end off and put a new plug on it. Nonetheless, I'm really happy with it.

My fastidious brother-in-law told me about SunSetter since he knows everybody in our town. We purchased a 12-foot motorized awning from them. Since getting our SunSetter, it has done its job. We have direct sun throughout the day and it blocks the sun when we're out. We have a deck and the awning covers a good part of it. It's very comfortable. However, the installers left a piece of canvas. They rolled it up and all of a sudden, when they left, it was behind the door and I don't know what to do with it.

We just had built a deck and needed a sun shade. We've seen the advertisements of SunSetter Awnings and then I talked to a representative. Everything was as we expected and so we moved ahead and purchased a motorized awning. The rep was knowledgeable and he answered the questions we had. The installation was great as well. We thought that there was gonna have to be some custom woodworking done but the installer was able to do that without having to cut any of the existing wood. We're very satisfied with SunSetter. The awning looks great and it has given us exactly what we were hoping for.

My friend told me about SunSetter Awnings because she was supposed to get a discount if she told someone else about it. I contacted SunSetter and they gave me a name that was in my area. I purchased a SunSetter awning from there for about $3600 and I love it as it’s good. However, the process wasn't nice. When I went to get the $100 for my friend, nothing happened. SunSetter told me that they didn’t deal with it and it was the company that I dealt with. I could have looked elsewhere but my friend gave me this offer. I will never call the place that I dealt with again because they kept telling me that I would get this and that but it didn’t happen and no one wanted to claim responsibility. They said, "Oh, no! You had to get it through SunSetter to get the $100." But SunSetter said they didn't have anybody. And you had to go through someone. So, it's not legit. SunSetter Awnings didn't come true with their advertising.
Dear Kathy,
At SunSetter, we take great pride in our product quality, our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers. We are glad that you are enjoying your new awning and hope that you enjoy it for years to come.
SunSetter's referral program is a perk available to current SunSetter customers who purchase directly from SunSetter. SunSetter dealers are independent businesses that purchase awnings and shades from SunSetter and resell them to the general public, and are not part of the referral program. Individual dealers may have their own referral programs, and we do encourage you to talk with them about such programs.
Your friend referred you in good faith, and your satisfaction--and hers-- is very important to us. As a one-time exception, we will honor the program terms for your friend. We will reach out to you privately regarding this issue.

We needed some shade on my back porch. We ordered a motorized SunSetter awning and it came in quickly. The installer did a good job and he was quick, very nice, very professional, and very thorough. The price of the awning was about right for the size that I have. And I’m very pleased with it. It was too hot to eat on the porch before and with our SunSetter awning, we can eat outside which we can also do when it’s raining. I’m enjoying my awning and if that’s what my friends really want, I'd tell them to go ahead and buy it.

I had my first SunSetter awning for about eight years but I had claimed on it on my homeowners’ insurance ‘cause it was a manual and it took a hit on some hail. We ordered over the phone and the team was fantastic and nice. But when I got the second one delivered, there was no proof of purchase. I need that to settle my claim with State Farm and I called SunSetter. The lady said they would get it out to me but I think she said about 10 days and it's been at least that, yet I’m still waiting for it. On the other hand, my brother had put the awning up and it's absolutely beautiful. It’s 18 x 11½ with gray-and-cream stripes, and it’s fully automatic. It folds up and goes away underneath its cover. SunSetter can come to my house and make a commercial ‘cause it’s so beautiful. My house is all-windows and the sun heats up the house so I put the awning out every morning and I would tell others to get one as well. You'd be stupid not to.

SunSetter Awnings is a quality brand. We had an awning already in the same location. It’s a SunSetter awning, but we felt it was a bit old. It wasn’t functioning exactly the way we wanted it to and it was too short. The local distributor was very responsive, helpful and easy to do business with. Also, the installer was excellent, but there were some challenges with the installation itself. The product was not working exactly as it needed to so it required the installer to swap out the motor. And subsequent to that, we’ve noticed that the awning was not closing properly. It’s closing and then it’s reopening itself automatically. We’re talking to the distributor to make arrangements to do some repair, but we’re generally happy with the install.

I got a $10,000-porch in the back and I didn’t use it, so we put SunSetter up and we’re using it now. The awning is the perfect thing that I wanted back there. I’ve been out on the porch twice when the awning was open and I enjoyed having it like that because I can see where we’re gonna have a lot of shade. The sun beats up there, so I will open it every morning. I will go out there and I have a little DVD player that I can go out there with. I saw SunSetter Awnings on TV and after looking at the commercial, I went online to look at it and I called the one that was provided in South Carolina. I also got the videos online to show me how the motorized awning works and the type of material. And when the representative came by, I got more information and it was very helpful after me looking online.
The installation was a quick experience. There were two guys who came out and they acted with so much expertise to go out and see if it was level enough. They were very knowledgeable about everything, they showed me how the remote controls works and then, did a test run. They also did the wind sensor. Our awning's overall quality is awesome. I’ve already tried it out last weekend with my family members over and they enjoyed it.

We moved into a new house and the back of the house faces south where it would get sun all day. Being a cancer patient, I can’t be in the sun all day. So, an awning was the best thing that I could get as I couldn’t put up a permanent one since I’m in a condo situation where it had to be approved. A SunSetter awning was the only one that I could get on there. I talked to a sales representative of SunSetter and he gave me the colors to choose from, but that again was up to the condo community's rules and I could only choose one color which I’m not fond. I got the awning that’s electric or motorized, and it comes out by itself. SunSetter put the awning in last October and I was surprised that they came out because it was snowing. I figured that they wouldn’t come out until the spring, but they put it up right away. The installation was fast and easy and, so far, I'm pleased with the awning.

I had rebuilt my patio outside, and I needed an awning for it. SunSetter Awnings is a well-established brand and per quality, my dollar was well-used using them. I ordered a brown, striped, motorized awning and I use it all the time in the morning and afternoon for the sun. I also have social get-togethers out there on my patio. I ordered it through Patico Awning in Houston and they put it up. When they started putting in the bracket, they just used their knuckles to find the studs. There are seams in the siding and all they had to do was find that seam and go up straight from it then they'd have hit the studs. They made at least three holes before they found the stud and I wasn't happy about that. They said that they'd just fill it full of caulk.
When one of the guys first started to unroll the awning, he didn't take the packaging out. So it started to unroll quickly because there was a piece of the packing foam in there. I tried to get them to come back to adjust it, but nobody came nor returned any calls. They had gotten my money, and so that's it. No service. I like the awning, but I couldn't recommend the installer to anybody.

SunSetter is in my hometown and at first, they were very good. They came out promptly and gave all the information, and it looks like a good product so we bought it. The installation was terrific. It was put up right on time and we were happy with it. But we’ve experienced some trouble with our SunSetter and they haven’t come out to take a look at it. When it rains, the water pools in the middle of the awning and collects so much that it creates a lot of weight and deforms the awning. That is a little bothersome, but other than that, it's great. We use the awning when we eat out and we have coffee out there. I would tell others to make sure when they put the awning in that they got the right pitch on it and to think about which one they want. SunSetter has products too as far as they can put in different types of awnings.

I have a deck that gets uncomfortably hot and the umbrellas don't seem to do the trick and are always blowing over. I tried to get a SunSetter awning the year before and the installer they hooked me up with, canceled on me several times. Then he wanted to make a third appointment but I didn’t make that appointment with him and just bought an umbrella. Then this year, my husband and I discussed trying again but I better not get the same installer because I'm not gonna use him. But the guy that responded this time was just a couple of towns over and he came for the estimate and the installation and he never canceled me. He was very knowledgeable, very down-to-earth and easy to have around the house working. I was very happy with him. He was quick, clean and he also showed me how to do everything once it was done.
I wanted an awning that’s more vinyl than cloth. The awning is the motorized type and I also put the wind sensor on. It covers two-thirds of the deck and I use it every day to keep the porch and the house cool because the sun beats in the sliding glass door. And it shuts itself if the wind comes up, which is great for me. The SunSetter Awning is expensive and it took me several years to afford it, but it’s a great product.

I started to make this move a year ago so I made it in my mind to get it done but I didn’t know any other awning companies except SunSetter Awnings. I got the automatic motor roller to roll it back in. I wanted first class and it's the best they're making. There was a lot of green color in the awning but I don’t care what color it is as long as it covers and saves my bald head. Because I'd burn the hair off the top of my head out there at three o'clock in the afternoon. It was terrible.
The SunSetter's boys just got started and they load their stuff out of the truck. I told them that I can't move around very fast. I'm a handicap and I just got out of the hospital Friday. I'm using a walker to get around and I said to them that if they need anything, they come in the house and holler at me. They're good people to be with and I'm really pleased. I'm also really tickled with that awning to keep the sun off my bald head.

I have had a terrible experience with SunSetter Awnings. I went on their website in March and asked for one of their local dealers to contact me. I was contacted and the dealer came out 3/7/18. The awning was ordered March 7, 2018. We wanted a nice awning, we ordered an 18' motorized awning, retractable, wind sensors, LED lights, made with Captain's Watch fabric, with the motor on the left side. When delivered, the awning was the wrong color and the motor was on the wrong side. The correct fabric was installed May 14, 2018. We adapted the electric for the motor. We enjoyed the awning, including Saturday, May 26, 2018 which was a very sunny warm day. During the night, we had an unpredicted rain storm and the awning collapsed, due to water pooling on the awning, breaking the arms. For this to happen, in my mind this is poor engineering, the water could not drain.
I wrote SunSetter and requested refund until their 90 day guarantee of $5,178, the cost of the awning. I received a call that they would not honor that warranty as the warranty is only good if I installed the awning. As I used the dealer they sent to my house, there is no warranty. They wanted to fix the broken arms and that is it. Obviously this is not the awning for our house, we have wind, and we have rain. I was told by the representative of SunSetter, “You cannot leave the awning out overnight to protect your furniture. You must retract it every night.” So if you live in an area where there is no rain, sun only and you want to babysit your retractable awning; this is the awning for you. If you have rain you need to look further.

He said he would come out and give me an estimate. He did and I thought it was reasonable. Also, I liked the salesman and I got along with him great. The awning that we have is 14-feet wide and has the electric motor on it. I use it when I sit on my deck and I really enjoy it. That's about most Sunday afternoons. If anyone asks about my awning, I would give them SunSetter's number and tell them to go with SunSetter.

I have afternoon sun and I needed something so I could sit outside on my patio. I liked the idea that the awnings from SunSetter are retractable. I also had seen one at a friend's house and I know that they like it. I called SunSetter and then someone called on me and came. The person treated me very well and was very helpful. Then the installation team was very good and didn't take very long. I got a motorized awning and I have a remote control for it. It's a tan color and the striping is brown and white. Now, I go out there and take care of my flowers. The SunSetter awning works great. So if you are looking into getting a SunSetter awning, go for it. In fact, my daughter and her husband are thinking of getting one.

The sun faded the furniture in our other house and now that we're in a new house, we decided not to let that happen here. The SunSetter salesman who came to our new home was helpful and his knowledge for their product was good. We got the 12 x 16 feet awning and it's motorized. The installers were very knowledgeable and they did a good job. It took them less than an hour to do it. So far, we've used the awning a lot. We put it out when the sun comes up at about three, then we leave it until around 7:30 or 8. Everything is fine except that if the wind comes up and the awning is out, we have no idea how the sensor works, so we need to call SunSetter about that.

I've had an awning for eight years and that was kind of a pain. So, I decided to get one that would run remote. I got a SunSetter and I had good luck with it. I got a neighbor up there that has put them up for years. He came down and got a couple of guys to help him and they did that in about 45 minutes, so he knows his business. I'm out there in northern New York and they have the nicest place to live in the summer. So, when the weather is nice, we go outside and enjoy it. Mosquitoes drive us nuts, but now SunSetter has got some stuff out that is supposed to help but that depends on the way the wind blows. With my experience with them, I'd buy another SunSetter awning and that's what I'd put up again.

The sun just shoots down right on the back side of the deck and the grandkid plays out there. We wanted something to cover it so my dad looked around online and found SunSetter Awnings. We got the motorized version and my dad’s friend who is a contractor helped install it. It was easy. We love the awning and we use it while playing with the baby and when we eat like when we have breakfast.

I had put a deck at the back of my yard and it gets hot in Tennessee and I wanted to cover it up. SunSetter Awnings' sales representative was okay but I haven’t heard from him since the installation. It would have been nice to have the manager or the salesman do a follow-up after the installation. Their installers were nice but there were some bolts that were attached to the building that they forgot to tighten down. They did when I asked them but they tried to tighten them down after the awning was already up. And it looks like they were in a hurry because they’ve got other things to do. The overall quality of the awning is good. However, I had to put the back sink because the guy that sold it to me didn’t check the eaves to see if I had rafter tails. Nonetheless, I will recommend this awning to anybody but you have to install it yourself. So far, it’s doing its purpose for me and I like it.

I'm very impressed with SunSetter Awnings. We bought a home in the country and it is all sunny. I had been checking SunSetter out for a long time and it was just what I wanted. Their representatives were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable and personable as well. When they came out to the house and showed me the product, they were not pushy. I knew at the time I wanted to buy one. I purchased a big one, a 14x20. It's tan, grey and burgundy, and everything is motorized.
The installation was perfect and I'm glad I had them do it. However, I couldn't figure out how to work it so I called them back and they walked me through it. Since then, my outdoor experience is more enjoyable. We have had the experience where we had been sitting out and the wind picked up, and the awning went back automatically. So far, everything works and we use it every day. Also, the quality is very good but I noticed a spot and it looks like it's got some mildew on it. Still, SunSetter Awnings is very upscale and I'd tell others to buy one. In fact, several of my friends liked it.

I had a fine experience with their team and they did a really good job. Their representative was a little disorganized at one point in time, but not bad. Their installer took two hours to install it and they got it all done in one visit. The awning did its purpose really well. When the sun is shining on that part, I put it all the way out and it makes a new patio for me. And then when it looks like it's gonna be windy, I'll put it in. It's got the thing that automatically cranks it in, but I put it in and out as I use it.

Since we lost a tree during a storm last year, there was no shade on the patio whatsoever and it got very hot. If we wanted to really use it and enjoy it, we needed to have something for shade. My sister has an awning on her back porch and we’ve liked hers so I ended up deciding to get an awning. We found out we had a SunSetter dealer right here, Marvin, and we know him so it all fell in place. The awning is wonderful but I would tell others to have a pocketbook because they’re not cheap. Nonetheless, everything was in good shape when it was delivered. The installers came and the guy we dealt with was more than accommodating. They used a certain kind of board so the siding wouldn't be crinkled, wired the awning in our garage and had it up within three hours. They did a beautiful job and they showed us how to put it in and out.
We’ve sat out on the patio and put the awning out, and it definitely makes a big difference. You can sit out there and enjoy it. You gotta be careful with the winds though. They said it can withstand up to 55 mph winds but when the awning starts to shake around, I don’t wanna abuse it for nothing. Also, the valance on the front doesn’t quite line up with the stripes on the awning. They’re off just a little bit but you gotta sit there and stare at the stripes. I guess the valance has to come off in the winter and Marvin’s gonna come show us how to do that. Then next year, we’ll make sure to have it lined up. All in all, SunSetter did a wonderful job.

When SunSetter installed the awning, it was nice and they were sweet. But the slope of it was too low and I asked if I could have it a little higher. They said that it was standard and I should keep it like that so I was happy. They also told me that if ever I wanna raise it, they would be happy to do it and they gave me the name of somebody I could call. A week and a half later, my buddy, a tall dude, came over and said that the awning was really low. It was 4 feet up but when it came down, it was around 7 feet. It was crappy the way the people installed it. And when I called back and said I wanted to raise it, the guy gave me the runaround for three days. They set a date but it changed then it changed into another one. They were supposed to show up at around 2:00 but they never called me back. I called them back around 5:00 o’clock and they said that the truck broke down.
Also, the guy said that when they come out, they would have to charge me. Although the guy who set it up didn’t say there was no charge, he said that they would be more than happy to come back out. In the end, I told the guy to forget it. They could’ve fixed the awning easily but they didn’t and that was the only thing I was mad about. I wasted a week and a half and I ended up doing it myself. When I talked to them and asked how would they do it, I was told to google it. I had been googling how to raise it up but I didn’t wanna mess with it. But I finally got it. My next-door neighbor came over and we raised it. It’s fine now. The awning is great and I like the fabric. I love the awning and I’ve enjoyed it. There’s nothing I don’t like about my SunSetter awning except for the installer people.

We bought a new house and the patio faces the West so we needed some shade back there. We live in Arkansas and it’s pretty hot here. I liked SunSetter's component that the awning could be electrically retracted. The team also was very helpful in picking out the size that we needed and the features that we wanted to add to it. The installation went well too. Our interactions were all very positive. We got the 16-foot XL with the light features and the wind sensor, and the color is charcoal gray. We ordered it in mid-March and it probably came within six weeks but the installer kept it at his place for several weeks until the porch part that we were adding on was finished. It all worked out well and we’ve had it up for a couple of weeks now. As the afternoon sun begins to come out on it, we’ll extend it out more as it gets hotter. I would tell others to get one but to get their pocketbooks ready as they are expensive.

Nonetheless, I love it and it looks fine. And the people I've worked with were all very nice. I've used the awning twice and I loved it. When you have it extended it looks really nice. I was a little skeptical in the beginning because I didn't want my house to look like those little awnings I see in trailers parks. But it’s not like that at all. It's very rich and I’m very happy. It was very important for me to see somebody that was gonna be responsible putting it in and then to have them come out to the house.
The sales team from SunSetter was very punctual, but I couldn't get back to the rep that came out. I had to go out of town and I had to have him reschedule. I wanted to be able to see the awning before I left. They were kind enough to shuffle people around to get it in for me. The rep came out on Saturday and moved his schedule around. They showed me everything about it and went over all the functionality of it. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It looks beautiful and it matches the house perfectly. And it looks like another room now. I'll spend a lot more time out there in the heat of the sun and when I have people over, they won't have to stand in the heat and grill. They'll be able to spend a lot more time and also with the lights at night.

I had a lot of windows in the south side of my house so I needed an awning. I knew people who had SunSetter and they were fine with it so that was what I did. Everybody at SunSetter was very professional and courteous. Three guys came and got busy. They didn’t mess around and they got it done in two hours. I chose a color that matches the color of my home. It is a pale yellow with brown trim so that’s what the awning is as well. It looks nice, especially the colors, and I’m happy with it.
This model is the best one they have and the quality is good. I have a remote control for it and it winds itself up if the wind blows too hard. The wind had blown hard enough here one time that it rolled itself up so that showed me it does what I expected it to do. It does it well too. I like that when I roll the awning out, I’ve got all that shade immediately. I come out here in the evening sometimes and it’s nice. The awning makes a big difference in the amount of heat that comes in the house.
Everything was a positive experience except the price. Their advertising was a little erroneous because they showed a big window and said, “This is affordable. You can take care of this for $500,” But when they came and took care of mine, it was almost $7000. That’s a long way from $500 and I have a problem with that. So if you're interested, get prepared to triple or quadruple what you thought you were gonna pay ‘cause that’s gonna be the end result. If I had known I was gonna be paying $7000, I might not have done it. But I had the money and I spent it. I may also be putting this house on the market in the next year or so and one thing that influenced me was that it would help sell the house. I’ll get my money back and if I don’t get my money back, I’m enjoying the awning.

We were looking at several options to cover an area outside and happened to see a SunSetter display at a Worcester, Massachusetts home show. And we decided to take a look. My wife wanted one thing and I wanted another and the awning was a happy medium between the two. We could tell by the way the salesmen treated us at the home show if they were gonna be a problem. Others just constantly hound you, but SunSetter's salesman was low key. He came out, measured, and gave us all the info we needed. He told us about the materials we can choose, the options we can get and the price. He also told us that if we are interested, to give them a call. We waited and weighed it for a couple of weeks before deciding what we were gonna do. I appreciate the fact that there was no pressure.
The installer was very professional and knew what he was doing. He and his assistant came in, banged it out for a couple of hours and they were all set. We bought a 16-foot by 16-foot motorized awning and it has been working fine. We leave the awning at open quite a bit of a time to keep our outdoor kitchen area and equipment covered. We have a grill, a refrigerator, cabinets, and a sink. We've really only retracted it when there was gonna be a bad storm or wind. After we bought it, we thought it was a tad expensive, but comparing it to building something more permanent, it's a lot less expensive. Plus, it performs as advertised.

I bought this house about five months ago and the sun shines into the dining area which makes it very hot. I wanted something to help block the sun a bit, so, it would not get so hot inside the house. I also wanted something that would give me shade outside that window because there's a deck there. I get the AARP magazine once a month and I kept seeing all the advertisements about SunSetter there. That's where I got their number. There aren't many companies around like SunSetter that offer an awning with a remote for retracting and opening it again, so I called them and ordered one.
The person who installed it was very nice and very informative. He was helpful in every way that he could be and it took him three hours to finish the installation. He worked very hard at getting the awning out the way I wanted it but he was new at it, so he didn't have a clear understanding at how far out it would go. I got the awning with an eight-foot width and it didn't go out as far as I thought it would. So, it doesn't look as big as I thought it would. But it passes the window and that's what I wanted it to do.
Also, I don't think the installer was completely aware that if the sun moves, the awning may not shade the same way. I didn't realize that as well, so, it doesn't shade as much area outside the house as I would have liked over the deck. But it does the job for the window. Other than being dissatisfied when I saw the size of the awning, I like everything else about it and the way it works. I like the fact you don't have to keep it out if you don't want to. You can bring it in and still see the sky and the trees from your window if you choose to do so.

I wanted an awning for years. I bought a cheap one and kept it intact for five years. I was on the north shore of a small lake, but we had a lot of wind. I lost many umbrellas due to the wind and my main concern was being able to keep it from being ripped to shreds. And then I went with SunSetter’s reputation for quality. Those folks in Leroy, which is a small town just down the road from me were very thoughtful, very thorough and just really helpful with what you need, what you want, and they knew where I lived and what I was dealing with as far as sun and wind is concerned and were very helpful.
The installation process was done neatly. When the installers left, you would have never known that anybody was there. They had to take the old one that I had down for me and got rid of it. They carried it out to the dumpster and threw it there for me. They made sure that there was nothing left lying around. They also made sure I understood how the awnings worked and that it was also clear to me that if I had any additional questions, they would be really happy to answer them.
I purchased two awnings and they’re both 12 feet wide. The color is reddish and they have tan and red stripes. They provide excellent shade. We've had some really hot weather here and they worked really well. When the wind has blown to the velocity that the umbrella senses that it's not safe, it has gone ahead and closed itself perfectly, so I'm really happy with it. With SunSetter I'm dealing with a local businessman which always makes me feel good. And the service and the quality of the product are absolutely exceptional.

The sale at the Christmas tree shop was not happening, so I was looking at the SunSetter. The motorized one is a big discrepancy but my husband said I could have it. SunSetter is well-known and I figured that this one would last longer.
The SunSetter sales rep came in and he was very nice. We told him what our budget was and he knocked a little bit off of that. He said he'd be back in the beginning of June but then June came and there was no rep and no cost. I called SunSetter on the number on the card he left. Since we had so much bad weather, he was just looking for a good day to come. So they showed up at my house right around noon-ish, and by the time I finished my shopping, they were done and backing out. Two guys had it up and running in just a couple of hours. And I got a cover, so in the winter, it won't get all beat up and destroyed. The SunSetter awning is making our outdoor activities much more convenient with the motor that goes in and out. Now, I can use my porch. Otherwise, the sun's just beating down on us right on the ocean.

I ordered the awning and two weeks later, they came and installed it. It was done two months ago, and my dog and I love the awning. I would recommend SunSetter to anybody.

I saw an awning at a home show and I decided to get one from SunSetter. I bought a motorized awning that's 12 foot by 10 foot 2 in size. We had a little difficulty in installing it but it wasn’t the installer’s fault. They gave a socket mount when the guy was here to sell it to me and when they came to put it in, there was no wood out there for them to attach it to. So, I had wood at my house and they were able to use that, so they could put it up that day.

We wanted to shade our back patio and my sister-in-law has a SunSetter awning. SunSetter's products are well-made and we’re real happy with ours. The one we purchased is 12-foot across and it comes out ten feet. It's tan with brown stripes, which is also the color of our home so it almost matches the paint perfectly. We leave it open all the time and it creates another room in our house ‘cause it’s between two walls. It’s perfect. But the installation created a problem.
There was a mix-up with the salesman. The old fellow came over to give us the cost and what we wanted but even the lady we talked to admitted he was 82 and he didn’t quite get the whole thing. It was just a big miscommunication between him and the company when it was ordered. The put the motor on the wrong side. I wanted a plug on the left side but it came with a plug on the right side so it was running down the wall. It was too late to fix that and we tried to talk to somebody but nothing ever happened. Somebody said they would get a-hold of engineers and see if they can change the motor from one side to the other on site. But I already had electricians putting in some plugs for a fan so I had them move those wires all the way across, hide them behind things and bring it down between pipes. That solved the problem.

I bought an awning from SunSetter in 1996 and I liked it. But, it has started to deteriorate. It was manually operated but I had to pull that out and then retract it manually. I then got a motorized unit with a remote and I like it better. It being motorized made it a lot easier. I was pleased with it all these years. Also, the installers were great and professional. They knew what they were doing and everything went well. I would recommend SunSetter to anybody.

I built a new sunroom and a deck. I’ve been using a deck umbrella and it’s a pain in the neck putting them up, putting them down, and worrying about the wind. I’ve seen awnings in the magazines and I kinda knew that’s what I wanted, so that’s what I got. The advertising of SunSetter does a better job than other companies. I’ve seen a couple of different brands, but the SunSetter seemed to be more prominent. And there’s a local firm that installs them too. So I did it. In the beginning, I had them come out and take a look. And the rep was nice enough to bring color samples with him and before it was done and said with, I decided to save myself a little money ‘cause I’m a little bit handy and buy one and just put it up myself. And that’s what I did.
After I installed it, I bought the wind sensor unit on it. But I had some troubles trying to make that work. When I first put it up, I couldn’t get it to work so I called them. And they were very patient with me in walking me through the process and we got it to work just the way as it should now. They did a great job. We’ve been using it this spring and enjoying it. And the sensor works very well too. If we get a little gust of wind, it just rolls itself back up.
My deck gets the full sun from the west and living here in Atlanta, the temperature gets very hot early in the day and throughout the day. So the awning extends the use of the deck for us. I’m also a fair-skinned individual and I can’t get sunburned. So I’ve gotta get underneath shade and it does a good job. I would highly recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We needed shelter from the sun so we bought an awning. We got an 18-foot XL automatic awning from SunSetter Awnings and it was easy. And the value was decent. It’s by the pool and it hangs over our bedroom and our living room sliding glass door and we just walk outside. It really is nice and it adds an extra room to the building. The people who put it up did a very good job. The owner of the company who installed the awning told me what's good and what's not and he also said that the awning should last a long time. Also, his employees were very competent. The SunSetter Awnings team did everything that they said they were gonna do. We had some little fumbling with the communication but it could have been my fault too. We’ve had a couple of issues and they were happily gonna fix it. They called and they are going to take care of it this week. I’ve already recommended SunSetter.

Since I've had a lot of sun on my house, I decided to get an awning. I researched about SunSetter Awnings and they have good reviews online. I then purchased one of their motorized units from a third party installer. The installation went smoothly and the awning has been up for a few weeks now. It seems to be working fine and I've enjoyed it the few times that I've used it.

I got a pool and instead of building a hard top to where it was gonna be permanently, we opted to have an awning because sometimes we want sun, sometimes we don't. I'm picky and have to have the best, so I got the motorized awning from SunSetter. Installation was top-notch. The mason dude that run the show knew exactly everything. It was well-designed and he did a great job. I show off my awning to my friends. The only thing I hate about it is that I've put two little round batteries in the remote but they don’t last for about one or two run-outs. Other than that, I absolutely love my awning.

Here in Central Pennsylvania, there are winters where you have to figure out how you're gonna get the snow off of the roof to keep it from collapsing on your deck. We didn't wanna put a permanent roof over our deck and we had seen some advertisements for SunSetter, so we gave it a try. We had a SunSetter awning for several years and it was my husband and my brother-in-law who installed it themselves. But that was one that you had to crank out and so we had the video. That was a bit more complicated than what we wanted to get into this time, so we called SunSetter and they linked us up with a local dealer. When I called them to make arrangements, they were very helpful. And the people who did the installation last month were excellent. They were very good and they did it very professionally. They were here for a very short amount of time and assured that if we have any issues, they'll come back and make it right.
We upgraded to an awning that is automatic and we have a remote control. This awning was different, so they had to make a couple of repairs to the siding on our house. With the other hand-cranked awning, it's either you had the bar that went out and people were always bumping their heads on it, or you had to extend it out and attach it, and then you have the pole there that took up space. But this motorized one doesn't have any of that, which is another nice thing about it because I have young grandchildren. So we really like it. My husband and I are getting older and we've arranged our house so that, hopefully, as we age, we're able to stay here much longer. And having the motorized awning makes that one more thing that is easier for us to operate. We added the LED lights to the post arm that takes the awning out and we've used that several times this summer. That's really helpful too.
We appreciate the quality of the products that SunSetter is selling. We had our previous awning for years and the only reason we decided to upgrade was because we wouldn't have been able to get some of the replacement parts if we needed them. But even as old as it is, it would still service somebody very well because it really held up nicely. We have a lot of friends and we've recommended SunSetter several times to people that we know of that are in the same situation. Now, this one will be even nicer than the other one because it's got a metal cover over it that it folds up into, so it will be more protected from the snow and the ice in the winter. We're hoping that this one wears as well as the other one did. It was a pleasant experience that SunSetter gives us a lot of use on our deck.

The way I designed my deck is south where the sun shines into the corner and it makes the corner very hot. But then I like the open sky so I didn’t want to rebuild a permanent roof over. And that made the awning a good solution. A friend of my son has had one SunSetter awning for 15 years and loves it. She recommended SunSetter and several other people mentioned them as well. The team at SunSetter was great and they were nice guys. And also their installers were very good and did a very nice job.
I have an automatic awning and it’s desert color stripes. It stands out 12 feet and 12 feet wide. It’s installed on a surface, not against the building. The SunSetter awning cost less what the roof would have cost and it certainly looks nicer than anything I could have devised. I have one little issue though. When it closes, one of the support arms doesn’t come all the way back and sits a bit lower than the other, which SunSetter wasn't able to fix. Despite that, I’m totally happy with the awning. It helped the inside life a lot. It keeps the living room cool since there’s a window there that is now shaded when it needs to be. Also the deck is much more comfortable on a hot day. I have recommended SunSetter Awnings to others and told them that it’s a great solution.

I made the decision to stay in my house through retirement and I decided to do certain things to it. Getting an awning was one of them and I picked SunSetter thinking they were more reputable than others. I placed the order for two 14-foot awnings and when it came to their installation, one awning was missing. So, they had to go back to the shipper, the shipper had to verify that they lost it in shipment, then SunSetter had to remake it. After that process, the shipper left it in my yard during delivery. There was a 240-pound container in my yard, so that didn't go over really well.
The installation of the first unit was also very unprofessional and I had it reinstalled by an electrician. And now, I'm still waiting for an install date for the second awning. It was agreed that I would pay for the installation of both once the second unit was installed because they need to match up, especially when they're extended because they're side by side. But last Friday, the salesman called me and said that that was not what he agreed to. He said that he agreed that he would be paid for the first awning when the second one was delivered. And so my comment was, "Well, you really can't verify delivery because no one signed for it but I'm telling you I haven't."
Last week, I called the corporate office. They called me back and I explained the situation to them. I also told them that I did not wanna talk to their sales rep anymore. They said they understood that but the one who called me back to try to schedule the installation was the salesman again. He insisted that I needed to pay for the first one when they come to install the second one. I said I was not doing that because if I paid for it, I'd be saying I was satisfied with it and I didn't know that until the second one is up. He didn't like that. He said it was taking too long and he wanted his money, but that's not my problem. I refuse to pay for the installation until the job is complete because they were ordered at the same time and on the same invoice.
Then, I got a call yesterday from a guy named Justin in the corporate office asking me if I could prove that I had the funds to pay for the installation. I paid cash for the two awnings, to the tune of 7600 dollars, and I told him that I felt like I have suckers stamped on my forehead and that as a woman, I was being taken advantage of. I probably make twice what he makes in a year and to ask for proof that I had the money to pay for the installation was very insulting. So far, I have not heard back from anyone today. I told them that if we couldn't get this straightened out in the near future, they could come and get both awnings and fix my roof because the first one is installed on it. And if anyone asks me about SunSetter, I'd advise him/her not to purchase from them.

However, this is a 55 and over community wherein they have rules and regulations. They only gave us the okay to put an awning up if it was a SunSetter or something else. Our neighbors have SunSetter, so I chose that.
We got the motorized awning that has the stripes and the vinyl. Then there's a man that does the installation here for the community. He was experienced with putting the awning for the others that purchased theirs, so we got him and it went very well. But we had to go to our neighbor next door and look at a DVD just to refresh his memory and to make sure we were doing it right. Now we use the SunSetter awning to keep the sun from coming in the sunroom and to shade it more. And so far, things have been fine with SunSetter Awnings.

The purchasing experience was really good.
I needed to install it on my roof, which is basically four stories in the air. I contacted a gentleman rep here in DC and he has done this work a lot and has been in the city a long time. And it worked out well because they did whatever they needed to, to figure out how to get it up there and how to install it correctly. They were excellent to work with. At first, they had it a little out of line and it ripped a big hole in the first canvass. They had to order another one but that didn’t take a week. We had a few misunderstandings with it at first because we didn’t realize that we didn't have to tie the awning in every time it rains. If we didn’t, the rainwater would just puddle up on top of the awning. We’ve been taking it back in about every night if we thought it was going to rain. SunSetter has been around for a long time and I felt that I'd be better off with them in case something happens compared to the other awning company that no one knew anything about. I got a motorized awning from SunSetter and it was good, except that it was too high and wasn't working in the area that gets sun all the time. Other than at night, I could sit out there nice. There’s a breeze through that area which makes it comfortable. But primarily, I wanted to sit there and have coffee in the mornings. So, I called for a couple of guys who were very skilled and strong. They’ve lowered it and now, I got plenty of head room. When I put that side to side, it blocks the sun. It works very well that way.
I don’t say nice things about stuff if I don’t feel it but I've recommended SunSetter to others and there were people that got interested for the same reason that I have. I wanted to put a permanent roof on but there isn't enough pitch on the roof. I have a brother-in-law in Virginia who had SunSetter before he moved. I was afraid because I used to have a trailer and the awning fell apart after about five years. But he told me that Sunsetter's lasts. He had his for nine years before he moved and at that time, there weren't any problems with it at all. So I decided to give it a try. We then got the motorized unit and it's a much heavier awning than you have on your camping trailer.
The installation went well. Three people came to install the awning and they took an hour and 15 minutes to do the job. They had everything with them. It was really easy to get to and there also weren’t a bunch of chairs and stuff there for them to fall over. They have a wide open space. They didn’t make any damage to the floor or to the side of the house and the brackets went on good. I sat there in a rocking chair and watched them. The guy, who is a local, told me that he was gonna send me a set of lights so my wife told me to give him a call and I will.
We use the awning often. We can eat out there, we sit there in the evening, and when it gets better in the morning, we’ll probably have breakfast out there. My wife quilts and that’s where she is today all day. My wife and I used it late yesterday evening and had dinner. If the wind blows and the awning is down, it would come up automatically. Also, when I hit the button, the awning comes out and when I hit again, it goes back in. I'd tell a friend to come and check the awning and I'll show them how it is.

I was talking to my neighbor and she told me to come up because she had one over her kitchen window. We have terrible winds here and I asked what she does for that. She said she winds the awning up and gets it out of the wind. She also told me to come out and look at her boyfriend’s on his house. She said that they have one where all I have to do is have it connected and it automatically goes in on its own.
I just got my awning up the day before yesterday and it took two days for it to be installed. Last night we had it plugged in, but the electrician hasn’t come to put the electricity in for when the wind blows, so we're waiting for him. I also ordered the hood that protects the awning from the sun, but when I measured, it goes under the overhang on the eight-footer. I didn’t realize it because I thought the thing would just get it up and then it would snap it on over but, on the 16-footer, the installer said he had to have clearance. The roof comes down too soon for him to slide it in, so I was going to return two boxes that he told me to return.
Overall my SunSetter awnings are absolutely beautiful. When the installer had it up, he didn’t even have it out yet and I could see the edge of it coming down, and I said to myself that I picked the right color. They checked and it got lost in shipping. But they came back as soon as they got it, which was a week, and reinstalled it. I’m very happy with the quality of the awning. We got it with the wind sensor on because it gets very windy at times out here and it works beautifully. I love it. It’s definitely worth the money. And it’s definitely worth having SunSetter install it.

We had three installations with SunSetter Awnings before. This time, we got them to install the largest awning they could make, which is 20 feet wide. The awning is motorized and we paid about $4,000 for the installation job itself, the canvas and the material. One feature that is helpful is the automatic rollback when there is wind shaking it. Every afternoon, we have wind coming through in our place and so I don't have to worry about bringing it back up since it'll do it automatically because of the sensor.

Most of the negative reviews that I read on SunSetter were directly related to the installation process. One of the positives though was the ease of installation for an average user, for as long as you have a couple of hands and could read the directions. I understood a little bit about structural framework but because I needed the Sunsetter motorized awning installed on brick veneer, I didn’t feel confident in my ability. So I got ahold of Frank whom I’ve known personally as a friend for a long time and had him do it. And because of the sensitivity of the bend drilled into my brick veneer, I also asked for Frank’s wife’s brother, Terry, ‘cause he’s been installing this stuff for Frank for a long time. I wanted somebody who knew what they were doing. Terry had it up in less an hour and functioning.
The awning's usually used for an outdoor cooking space that I have. We barbecue a lot so I had it installed because inclement weather typically doesn’t deter us. It doesn’t get used that much though. Then we had a microburst come through the other day. It blew our stuff off our fence, turned about a 100-pound umbrella that was weighted down completely sideways and blew my neighbor’s umbrella to my pool. It also blew the awning up in the air, but the awning didn’t bend, didn't get ripped off the wall nor pulled up loose from the veneer. I got my remote and got it closed.

The way our house is set up, we have a lot of big windows in the west that are exposed to the afternoon sun. They're 5 feet high and 3.5 feet wide and we have five of them on the deck across the back of the house, as well as a double French door. So that lets a lot of light in and it makes the house hot in the afternoon. We liked the products that SunSetter Awnings offered and when we met with Mike, the San Antonio local dealer who was very nice and informative, we decided to go with them. We talked in his office for an hour and he had a model in there and he showed it to us, as well as the different options for colors and all of that. He also explained the process and how he had to order it with Beachhead.
Then, the expectations that he gave us were excellent and right on as far as the timing of it. It was awesome. SunSetter was priced more than the other options we found, but we had choices. We then got a retractable awning, the longest one we could get, since our deck is long in the back. The unit extends and it's 20 feet out. Once the unit came in, Mike was out in two days. The only reason he wasn't out the first day was because we weren't gonna be home. Then, the installation went great. Three people came out and they did the job quickly.
Since having the awning, the house has been cooler. We have it open during the day and it blocks direct sunlight. We still have to close a couple of the blinds on the windows because the awning wasn't long enough to reach each end of them but it's no big deal. We let them sit out at night when the sun is still setting and then we adjust it. Sometimes we have it fully opened, sometimes we just have it partially opened. I was out there the other night after dinner and I had an open partial and I was planting some plants. If we didn't have the awning, the sun would be heating down on me. So it's very nice.

The sun is very hot and I felt like my deck needed some protection from the sun. Plus, I was trying to keep my house a little cooler. I bought an awning from SunSetter and the process went smoothly. The only thing was the pattern that I had wanted didn't come in the extra long. Also, they weren't able to deliver the awning to my home. We had to go and meet them to get it to my home, which, if I didn't know people down there, that would've been a big problem for me. I also asked for an installer but SunSetter Awnings said they couldn't have one. So I just installed it yesterday because I had it for a house in another state and I got my chance to go down there. The color goes okay with the house but the awning is hanging very low so I have a problem with that as well. But quality-wise, the awning's fine.

I had moved into a new house with some patio doors that opened up. I’ve got the deck facing due East so in the morning, I have lot of sun streaming in here. I wanted to block the morning sun from coming in and heating up the house and fading all my furniture. That was half of the reason to get an awning. It felt like the appropriate thing to do. The time was right too. SunSetter's price was quite competitive and they were very responsive. They called me right back and they came out and did the measurement.
I got one of the bigger, motorized ones and the installation went well. They were in and out in about an hour, and they were very good. But I thought when they first put it up, the arms extended out completely so that they’re perpendicular to the house. But after it had been up for a few days, I started having trouble getting the unit to extend all the way out. It goes most of the way out and then it stops. The arms don’t fully extend and they’re bent in a little bit. So I need to call the installer back. That aside, I've been happy with the product, the application and the installation. It was a good experience and I have recommended SunSetter to a couple of other people who had asked me about it.

I had an awning that was old and ruined. It's gonna cost me a thousand dollars to buy the canvass so I thought buying an awning would have been a lot little easier because it's retractable. The SunSetter awning was very nice. I bought two of them off of them -- one two years ago and one this year on two different properties. I bought a 12x12 feet. It's a self-retractable with a remote control and I got the upgraded canvass and the winter cover.
The installation team was the same people that did my last one and they were great people. They convinced me that it was the best product and helped me. I asked the questions and they answered it. They came in and three hours later it was all installed. They had a few little issues and they were able to overcome them and make it right with my roof design. We put the awning at the beach house. It's right on the ocean and sometimes it's nice to be out of the sun and sometimes it's nice to be in the sun. I've already told many people that this is a little expensive but if you want an awning, you want an awning and this have all conceptions and it's good quality, so I'd tell them to buy it.

We've had a very good experience with SunSetter Awnings. We have a pool and a deck, and the only place where people could go out of the sun was in the house. I don't want them in my house with a wet bathing suit, so we got an awning. I read some information online, and SunSetter was highly recommended. Their salespeople were wonderful. Sunsetter has a husband-and-wife team out of Lower Delaware, and the wife, who was very informative, came. She made suggestions of where would be the optimal place to put the awning.
The installers were very efficient too. They explained everything--how to use the lights and about the wind things that’ll detect when the wind is too much, it’ll close itself. We got a 15x10 awning in light tan with the light brown smaller stripe on it. It's all automatic and we've got the lights and the storm or wind things. We’re very pleased with it. We'll use it for recreational purposes and to keep the senior citizens out of the sun. I would highly recommend SunSetter.

My back deck is in direct sunlight. I saw SunSetter on TV and it was talking about being 20 degrees cooler. The customer service and also the installation team turned out to be great. But then I got an awning that is 16 feet wide, 13 and a half feet out and it's terrible. You can't even have a little breeze without it puffing up. And the arm material of the awning is actually the cheapest plastic I ever seen in my life. So don’t buy it.

From the advertising I saw, I looked into SunSetter Awnings and they introduced me to the local person here. So it worked out quick and easy. The local installer I bought it from was great and I’ve actually purchased two in the last year, one for me and one for my parents. I got the 15’x12’ and the other one was 12’x12’. They were good grade vinyl and motored, with all the options like the lights and wind speed sensor. I had a great experience with our installer and the way they do business.
We leave our awning open and it covers our outside patio dining table. It’s a very easy product and it’s better than having a built-in patio cover. The awning doesn't have to be out all the time so if you want the sun, you can have it. My parents live next door and the awning has changed the way they use their outdoor patio completely. They’re outside a tremendous amount of time now and I wish I would have done it years ago for them.

I bought a 14-foot wide remote-controlled awning from SunSetter. It has a sensor on it in case it vibrates due to too much wind. It was a better merchandise than the others and the price was right. Also, the SunSetter team was very good. They answered all my questions and gave the right answer. I bought a metal cover over my awning and when I called the other day to ask if they had something else that I could put over that whole thing in the winter, like a vinyl cover, so I could keep the snow out of it, they said, "No." I’m hoping the installation holds in the winter months because there are only four bolts in it. Still, it works nice and I like it. I'd tell friends who ask about my awning to give SunSetter a call. They’d get some use out of it and they’d enjoy it.

I wanted to get an insurance on my SunSetter awning and when I called them they told me I couldn't get it from them because I didn’t purchase it from them directly but through the installer. They told me I would have to contact my installer. So I left a message with the installer but nobody ever got back to me about it. Now if I had purchased it from SunSetter directly, I would have to install it myself. My husband and I couldn’t do that. So we went through the channel that SunSetter told us. They gave us the installer and all the information. So you would think that SunSetter would allow me to buy the insurance on the SunSetter because everything else was fine. So I'm kind of upset about that.
But I like the awning. We also had a SunSetter awning before when we lived in the house we moved into at '55, except we didn’t have the motorized SunSetter that we have now. When we lived in that house, my husband used to be able to do all those things. But now that he has dementia he can’t do any of the work. So I figured I might as well get a motorized one because if there is a problem, I can call the installer. But other than that, I can operate it. I’m satisfied with SunSetter.

Also, the condo developers and builders offered the option of the SunSetter awning then their employees put it up. It's a beautiful item and we love its color and design. It perfectly fits our condo. We also got the hood that went with it which is a great feature as it keeps the awning covered from the sun and bad weather. Everything is remote-controlled on the awning and it's fabulous. We got the automatic wind thing, too, that goes right on the awning. So, it's great and we're sorry we didn't purchase one a lot sooner for our other home. My daughter’s had a SunSetter awning for years, and it's the automatic one with the motor and the remote. When I bought this house a year ago, it had a SunSetter awning but it wasn’t automatic and it was old. My son-in-law and I put it out once, and he had to crank it up. It wasn’t hard to do at all but I didn’t wanna do that because I’m old. I just wanted to get something that was very easy for me. SunSetter didn’t have the parts for it anymore but I wanted one so I just bought this one. The salesman was very nice too. I had a piece of siding on the front of the house and he said he’d fix it for me when he came to put the SunSetter up. And he did. They really did a nice job and I was very pleased with them.
I also liked the way SunSetter advertised. They've got $200 off which was a nice thing and I got some other things with the awning like the curtains on the side and the lights. I’m not going to use those though, and I should’ve gotten the cover instead of one of those. But I had told them I didn’t need the cover because it’s under a wide eave of the house and that’s the only thing I should’ve done differently. Also, the other awning was in excellent shape and I hate just throwing it away. I should have let SunSetter take it or I wish someone had bought it. If someone was handy, they could put it on there house.
My deck isn’t a rectangle or a square. It goes out about 10 feet and then it angles in on both sides so that made an awning awkward to get. I just got the same size the previous owners had, which went out quite far but not to the end of the deck. I just have to have my furniture in a little bit farther than I have to put it normally but the awning works fine. I picked the green and sort of a taupe stripe, and I like that the color matches the house beautifully.
My kitchen and dining room is really a big section of the house. I have French doors and big windows that go almost from the ceiling to the floor. The whole dining room is glass on one side and when the sun poured in, it got really hot. I’m sure that was why the previous owners had an awning and that was also why I wanted it again. The awning is wonderful for that and I absolutely love it. I put it out and it makes the kitchen a lot cooler. Living in my house is much better and nicer with the awning. I don’t know what I would do without it in this house and I highly recommend it.

We moved into a townhome area and I didn’t wanna put up a pergola because it doesn't give enough shade. And then it’s up all year and sooner or later, we’re gonna have to replace it. We were out at the Home Gardens and saw some patios and we saw the SunSetter shades. The woman taking care of the booth started us and then she gave our information to the salesman. So, he came in and talked to us. I almost didn’t go with it because of the price. But after all, we didn’t wanna put up a pergola which would cost us more than the SunSetter. And then when we did it, we had some incentives that they get to buy it because of it being off at the show. Also, we did our research and learned about their very good warranty, among other stuff.
SunSetter was more than what we wanted. They had the installer come in and he explained everything that he was doing. Then he raised it so somebody 6’5" wouldn’t hit their head on it if they come in up the stairs. He showed us how to do it and how to install it and if there was any problems. And so, we’re the first one out of 40 of the townhomes here to get it and people are interested to see how it was gonna look. It's the top of the line model and we have the remote control to let it out and we can’t do it by hand.
The SunSetter gave enough shade that it covers our big sliding glass doors in the patio that we’re putting it. It would give shade on that and we can still have the curtains drawn so we can see out, but not look straight at the heat and the sun. We had a direct south exposure and we put the SunSetter out the other day when it was really sunny and it kept the kitchen cooler by blocking the sun out. I enjoyed my experience with SunSetter and have sent people to another show.

Then we looked at SunSetter. We got the DVD years ago and we just called the guy. SunSetter is reputable and they’re well-known throughout the whole country so we decided to have an awning from them. They were very friendly and congenial, and they showed me how it worked before they left. I’ve been happy ever since.
The awning that we got has green and white stripes with the tan which matches the house. It’s a 12 by 15 and it’s motorized. We got the tiny little lights with it too which were attached to the house, right above the patio door, and the patio door goes out onto the deck. I call it utopia because we got palm trees there, the awning, the deck, the nice chair and the glass table. The dog loves the awning too. He lays down and looks up when that thing is moving. That being said we purchased our unit (XL 20' Awning) in August of 2015. Here is what we have till now. We have been very pleased with the product and the installation. Although I felt as though I could have installed the unit the installed price was what I felt was worth it... It took 3 men to do the install and they all seem well qualified, were neat and professional. When they did the prelim on the project they ask if we could get an electrician to install a 120V outside power plug which we did, no problem.
The quality of the product seem sturdy and we have had no issue to date with the equipment... I am hopeful that we will see 7 to 10 years of use out of the SunSetter. We have had no issues and the only thing we are trying to do now is blend the Somfy remote control with our Amazon Alexa echo system. There are not real instruction that I have been able to find thus far and am hoping Sunsetter will respond to my email request. Otherwise all is well, I would recommend this product.

This whole thing began with Costco. They had an offer in their monthly program.

He is a distributor and he has licenses for Ohio and West Virginia. He's a very active and effective guy as well. And then, he got his lead salesman for Northeastern Ohio to come up and see me. I got the VISTA awnings. It's a SunSetter retractable awning. It's 20 x 12 and it's kind of an off light that matches the siding of our house which is important in our neighborhood so I didn't have to get the approval of the homeowners' association and I had the dealer's guys install it. And after all the years that we had the awning, it was in great shape or worked well, and we couldn’t complain about it. It had served us well but it was old and needed to be replaced so we purchased another SunSetter awning. The reps were great. When the shipment came to us, we called them and the installers were out very shortly thereafter. They installed the awning and we had to do nothing. They did a very good job with the installation and stabilized it well. We had taken the old parts down and took away everything that needed to go, so it was good. A SunSetter awning is a good thing to have particularly if your deck is on the south and west side of your house.

I've had a few SunSetter awnings. Their product works fine and I always have a good experience. I had moved to a new home and this awning is probably my fourth one. I called the representative personally again and he was great. I got the same as I’ve always had. It’s motorized and about a fourteen-footer. But I may wind up another awning because I don’t think it’s quite long enough and that was my error in measuring. The installer said that they can easily remove it, move it over and then put the other one up. So they're good. I use the awning all the time. It's in the patio and I also leave it open on very sunny days so the house doesn’t get too hot.

We bought a new townhouse and we thought we needed an awning to keep the sun out. Sunsetter Awning's advertising on TV just kind of sold us. Their people were very good too. When I had a problem with the awning, the SunSetter team came out to check it and they said the motor on it was bad. Then they fixed it, so that was good. I would highly recommend SunSetter. Our awning makes it quite cooler and I've had a very good experience with them.

We decided to purchase an awning years ago and then my husband got ill, and that got put aside. I finally got it up as it would make the patio more usable. We had SunSetter in our other house in South Carolina, and we were pleased with it. We bought a very large one from them as well. The purchasing experience was very good. Also, the installers came when they were supposed to and did it then followed up on it. There was a slight little problem though but they came back and fixed it. We use the awning to cool the patio, and it cools the inside of the house also. With my husband just passing away, it's hard and we haven't had complete use of it but I enjoy it.

SunSetter was the only awnings company that was promoted in our area and we had seen it sold at Costco and different places. A lot of the neighbors had gotten one and were pleased too. The salesman presented it to me and my neighbor at the same time to save time for the two of us. We called and got an appointment the same day that they were going to talk to them so they didn’t have to sell it very much since we were already sold. Our neighbor on the other side had already bought it so he sold three within the space of an hour.
We got the 20-footer awning and it was acrylic in colors to match our vinyl siding and shutters. We got the remote and the wind detector as well which was a special that day. But instead of the snap-on cover, we got the vinyl cover that keeps it intact and covered all winter. The installation was delayed a couple times -- once because of the weather and once because of a personal issue with one of the installers. In spite of that, it was very efficient. It was put in a couple weeks ago so we have only used it once. Overall, I had a positive experience with SunSetter Awnings and we are enjoying them.

We have a patio behind the house and there’s too much sun so I got a SunSetter awning. The reps at SunSetter were quick to respond and efficient. They came in, gave a presentation although I had kind of decided that was the direction I was going. They were actually ready to go too quickly in a sense because I haven’t got the okay from the homeowners association yet. So I had to put them off a week or so. We’ve ordered at a price and that was the price I paid. Everything was as I expected it should be.
The installers called and said when they were to come. And they came when they said they would. They put it up quickly and that was the end of it. The installers did not leave any mess behind. We’ve used the awning twice and it retracts when you need it. In the summertime, we spend a lot of time sitting out in our patio whether we’re having guests over or I just get up in the morning and sit out here and read the paper and drink my coffee. Once it warms up, we expect to use it a lot more.

We have a fairly large patio and a partial earth contact house, and our backyard is mostly a hill. My wife can't climb the hill 'cause she staggers, and if we put an awning on, we'd have something we could use that would be in the shade. The guy from SunSetter came out and talked with us, and he did a bunch of measuring 'cause it's a 19-foot awning. I made a comment about it being manual, and he said, "You probably don't want that." I said, "No. 'Cause if I'm not here, my wife has to do it, so we need electric." He went over the options as to what the differences were and how it worked, and then my wife picked some colors. They were here an hour to an hour and a half and they were done. They gave us all the paperwork and showed us how everything worked. They also gave us information about wind stuff 'cause we didn't get a wind sensor.
We haven't had the weather to use the SunSetter awning yet, but I'd recommend it for the most part. We're gonna use part of it to help block the front of the house from the sun in the summertime and that might help to keep the house cooler. The only possibility we're looking at now is some type of flap on the one end 'cause when the sun goes down, it still catches the porch.

We had a patio in our backyard and we wanted to have shade back there. An awning costs so much lesser than building a roof over the back patio. We used SunSetter Awnings and we saved a lot of money. Everything was real good with the team and they were friendly, nice, and informative. They also showed us how to use the remote control scrubber. The awning is a black and white stripe and it also retracts to the roof, which is a great feature. We don’t have to shovel snow off the top of the roof in the wintertime. And I can tuck it out of the way on a cloudy day. Then I got my barbecue set up right next to the awning and so it comes down and covers the back door then we can put chairs underneath there. We have chairs alongside of the house so when the awning’s down, it’s a shaded area. And even when it rains, we can go out there and sit.

I have the 10 x 20 SunSetter awning. The metal is cream and the color is almost like a wheat. It’s solid. I only used it three times and I’ve loved it. I’ve been in the hospital so I didn’t get to use it more. But I would definitely recommend SunSetter. I was very pleased with my awning installation. The installation people were very good and they could have done the job with eyes closed. But I wish that their salesman told me everything when he came out. I made a big issue out of the fact that I'm in a windy area and that I wouldn’t leave. I asked, “What if I’m sitting under the awning and a wind picks up?” It was the installers that told me to have the safety mechanism put on and that it would be $218. If the wind should pick up to 60, the awning would automatically close without me even doing it. But the salesman never told me about it.
I called SunSetter and I asked them to order me one of those little mechanisms. The lady was a little snippy. I told her I wished I had been told about the safety mechanism option and she told me she would put me in touch with my salesman. But I didn't want to talk to him. He didn’t know enough to tell me about it then. I made my order in and I have not heard from them. Now it has gotten to be more time consuming to see when it’s going to come in and have that installed.

My previous awning got destroyed in a huge windstorm. What I had was a SunSetter so I went with them again and purchased a motorized awning with the wind thing and LED lights. The reps were great and absolutely outstanding and our installation experience was perfect too. The awnings from SunSetter are very good and very useful as well.

We have a new house and our backyard faces the east. It was pretty bright in the mornings so it was time to get an awning and we looked at SunSetter. I felt better with them and they had a dealer who was in town. They were at a home show and I was able to talk to a person out there. They also had one on display and demoed it and I liked it. The guy at the home show was knowledgeable and after we ordered it, it came about four weeks later. We had an interaction with the owner of the company that does the installation and they did a very good job so, we were happy.
I got the 12 feet wide and 15 feet deep motorized XL Pro. We don’t have a screened-in porch so it goes over the entire patio slab and we use it in the mornings to shield off the bright sunlight. We have sunlight on that back until about 2:00 in the afternoon so, it’s usable throughout the day. So far, we haven’t had any problems and we don’t expect any. I also got a couple of compliments on it. I had a friend that had one so I knew what to expect and it’s what I expected. I would tell friends how and why I use it as well as what it caused me to use it. I would tell them that I looked at others and this is the one I chose and they should get the same model that we have.

My next door neighbor had an awning and we’d been looking at it for a couple of years. We like our patio and backyard and we needed some shade. The SunSetter rep was excellent. We got a motorized awning and its installation was seamless. It took about two hours and there was no issue at all. We use it a lot and as often as we need to. We sometimes eat dinner outside or just sit out there in the back or just let the dogs play out there under the awning.
