Can't get my money refunded or awning installed properly. We have still not gotten everything we paid for. And have been denied any solution. We have called and emailed numerous times. We have tried everything from calling the manufacturer to the owner of Total Home Solutions who did the installation.

I've had a couple of friends that had SunSetter and we wanted to get one. We have a pool in the back and we wanted an area there shaded. When I ordered my awning, I got the automatic sensor that rolled the awning up in inclement weather, and I never left it down. We went away one day and a thunderstorm came up. When we got back, the awning hadn’t rolled up and it was collapsed to the water and was broken. Then, when I called my guy that we bought it from they wouldn’t stand by it, but they compromised with me. They said I've had to pay $365 to have it fixed and part of it replaced. So, I had that done and I paid the money and got another awning out there. I thought that was a bad deal, but that was the best that they gave me.

I have that sensor on here now, but I wouldn’t trust it again. I wouldn’t go away and leave my awning down. We brought it down a couple of times to see that it worked. We checked out the sensor, and the next time I went out, the sensor part was on the ground. So, that wasn’t installed very good either. Overall, we're not too happy with it. It's a nice unit, but things just weren’t done right.

My husband usually does the grilling outside but the portion is too hot so I decided to get an awning. The installation team set it up. My husband was on his trip that time and when he came back he was so excited about the awning. He said it's very nice and he can't wait for the summer.

We built a deck on the south side of our house this summer and it was too hot to sit on there without any kind of shade and we couldn’t put a roof over the deck, so we just decided to do an awning instead. I read the reviews online and decided that SunSetter Awnings sounded like a company to go with. The guy that we purchased it from was very helpful and the two guys that came and installed it were here and gone in two hours and everything was ready to roll. We got the motorized, extra-large awning and we have no complaints about the quality. I’ve told multiple people that we have a SunSetter awning and that it is really good.

I figured that an awning was less expensive than adding on a whole screen and porch. It just looks easy to operate and easier than buying a gazebo-type canopy. It also adds some environment to a plain deck. A representative for SunSetter, who was a with the third party, came out. He was very nice, was easy to deal with and was fair. He also happened to be a contractor-installer with the third-party company. He and his team installed my awning.

They were excellent and the installation went very smoothly. They were quick and thorough. They stayed here long enough and they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to just get in and get out. They answered every question I had and they also showed me how to operate everything which was a good thing because there was an issue with opening the door when the awning was extended. They fixed that. One of the guys even offered to install the hook for the motor on my inside door here so it would always be handy. He did that voluntarily which was a little above and beyond.

When I was doing some extension on my patio in the back, I saw that some neighbors in my community have awnings. I decided that that was good for me and so I got a 10 x 20 motorized unit from SunSetter Awnings, which has LED lights as well as a sensor. I would highly recommend SunSetter. Everything from the sales to input was really great. The team was here when they said they were gonna be here, did what they said they would do, and did not leave a mess. They were also timely. I'm using the awning to block the sun so that my dog and I can go out on the patio and sit and enjoy it.

I had an aluminum rollup awning for years and it was pretty well worn but they don’t make those anymore. When I saw SunSetter's ad on TV, I thought I’d try it. I had a little problem to begin with though. I ordered it in July but it was lost in transit for a month and when it arrived, the package was damaged. So I had to reorder and it took three weeks again. It wasn’t SunSetter's fault that it got lost in transit. That was UPS. But the whole experience was quite troubling. It took me two months to get the awning in the house and it got here quite late. It was in the fall when the weather was changing already.

The number SunSetter had to call for the installation was a disaster as well. It was about 50 miles away and they were really expensive. So I had a local carpenter and his helper put the awning up and saved myself about $300. The awning is up on my front window now but it would be a little better if it was tipped on the end. But I understand there is a way to do it and I would contact SunSetter when the weather changes. That aside, the product seems all right and it's holding up fine so far.

We've got a deck at the back of our house that faces the South, and we wanted to get a SunSetter for it. We saw the ad on the television and called them. They said that they would be sending a rep from Jacksonville, North Carolina, but we're in Kinston, North Carolina. They sent a rep over and we showed him what we had. I asked him if he was sure that the SunSetter was gonna work. I said to him that in the morning at 9 o'clock, the sun comes in from the East, and there’s sun on that deck then. At 12 o'clock and at 5 o'clock, there’s sun on that deck, only in a normal Daylight Saving Time hours. He agreed, so I got a 14 x 11 x 4 XL with the motorized motor. He knew we had the storm coming and it delayed the installation of the SunSetter when it came available because it went back ordered. They told me that the sample that we picked out was one of the popular samples, so there was a delay in actions.

SunSetter called us and said they were ready to put the awning up. The salesman told me that the installer wanted to put it on the siding of the house. Wwhen the installer came, he said that it needed to go on the siding of the house. I told him that the vinyl on the siding of the house has been there for 26 years and I don't want the SunSetter mounted on the siding because it could very well crack because the sun has been on it that long and the vinyl does over a period of time. He said that he won't put it up unless it was done this way. He added that he didn't like the idea of being told one way to put it up and then another way I described. So I told him to put it that way if he thought it was the best.

He put it up in the middle of the day and it was kinda cloudy. He couldn't tell what it was gonna do, so I told him that the installation was good, and then he went through the motions of how it works. The next day, I didn't get a chance to put it out at 9 o'clock because I had an early doctor's appointment. The day after the doctor's appointment, it was really sunny, just like being at the beach. I put that thing out at 9 o'clock, and it didn't have any shade at all. I run it back out at 12:00 and still no shade. I did the same thing in the afternoon, but we only got a little shade which was 4 feet from the back of the house. My wife had to take chairs and put them against the wall of the house to get some shade, but her legs were still in the sun.

I immediately called the people that put it in down in Jacksonville and told them what was going on. I was told that they found it hard to believe. I asked the guy if he was calling me a liar and told him I need to talk with somebody higher up than him, so he said that he would talk to the President of the company down there. They sent one of their tech reps up here a week later because we have another storm coming. He came over promptly at 9 o'clock. The SunSetter was completely out, he asked where the shade was and I told him that was what I was talking about. He told me upfront that I have no tress on the back of my house and that the SunSetter will not work to my perks. I asked him if it would work, but he said that he was going back to the office in Jacksonville and talk to the people there. He went back down there and I didn't get any answer from them.

A day or two went by and nobody was giving me a follow up. I called them and talked to the receptionist. I told her that I need to talk to the President of the company because the product is not working and I want a full refund. According to SunSetter's packet that they sent us, we can get our money back if we're not fully satisfied. I looked at the bottom of the contract that I signed, and it says, "non-refundable." When I talked to the President about it and told him that the SunSetter was not working, he said that they were not responsible for the SunSetter. He said that they're the dealership. I told him that I dealt directly with SunSetter, and they sent me a package and people from the dealership to talk to us about selling us the product and installing it. I expected him to honor what their contract is from SunSetter.

He only said sorry that it didn't work out, but it was non-refundable. I told him that I feel like they took advantage of me and my wife. I told him that the guy that sold us the SunSetter did not say anything about that it was non-refundable because I wouldn't have bought that SunSetter. I even thought about contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General, but I'm not gonna go out and waste my time. It was a bad experience and I will not recommend SunSetter to anyone. People that will buy this product should be aware of what they're getting into.

Don was the one who did our first SunSetter awning and the job was great. He sent a couple who put it up and they were fabulous. It was wonderful and we never had a problem for five years. But it got within a fire so we were replacing it. We got an 18-foot one rather than an 11-foot. It is motorized and it’s the same color as the last time. It’s like wheat with the stripe in it.

But this time, we weren't quite as pleased. Ordering the awning was the very first thing we did when the fire was over. Don said three weeks but three weeks came and went. Then three more weeks came and went. I called him and asked what was going on. He said that they had to order it, that it wasn't his fault and that it was the manufacturer's fault. Okay, fine. Finally, the awning came. But he came and installed it with a guy, not the great team that he had before. The bolts weren’t right and he didn’t hang it. He kept saying that it needed to be pulled down a certain way. But I didn't think so. Anyway, he left. Afterwards, we called him back again and said that we've got waves in it. He said, "Oh, yeah. You get those.” But our awning never had waves before.

He came last weekend and finally put in the rest of the bolts that he said was sent wrong. He also stretched the awning a little bit but it’s not stretched the way it should be. It wasn’t smooth. It wasn’t good and I’m still not sure about the material. There are a lot of little marks in them that were never in there before. Maybe, the company changed the design or the material itself in five years. Nonetheless, I like Don. He is a very nice guy. It just seems like he might be having some problems. Maybe, it’s time for him not do this anymore, especially installing. He’s not an installer.

The awning is out everyday now. We live in Florida and we have it on our lanai, which is screened in. So the awning is always open. We also have carpeting on the lanai and a big table under the awning. We really made a big investment again with this awning. Don also charged us to take the old one. Then he charged us separately to put the new one up. That was $175 to take the old one down and another $350 to put the new one up. Then he took the old one with him so I don’t know if he was able to do anything with it or not. I don’t know whether would I go back to SunSetter or not if anything happens with this. I would tell others to look around to see if there’s another company and really check them out. Make sure when they say how long it would take that it’s close to that, not double or over-double.

SunSetter provided great options and dealing with them was fantastic. Their rep, Jonathan, lives in the same city as I do and he is really good. He told me about the hurricane down south and how it delayed the people who manufacture the fabric and slowed the orders down, which I completely understood. So everything is going fine and we're just waiting on the proper time.

I have a backyard and in summertime, the sun comes to the back mostly, so I needed an awning. I had two choices and the other company didn’t call me back, so I went with SunSetter. When the agent came I told him that I want to put in something to prevent the rain from coming in. It goes to the back of the awning. But he didn’t give me that. Then finally, he gave me one but now it’s very hard to put around and I don’t know how they are gonna install that thing. The agent was irresponsible because he didn’t call the company when he was supposed to. He only called after two weeks. I had to call the company because I paid him and he cashed the check the next day but when I called the company they said nobody placed the order.

But the installation was very good. There were three men who came and they did it in a few hours. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about it. Every questions that I asked, they answered me. The awning is also very nice. It’s very comfortable. We had breakfast and lunch there. The few people that came and saw the awning liked it and asked me about it so I gave them the number of the company. But when I told them the price I was charged, they told me that was expensive.

I ordered a SunSetter Retractable Awning and the company gave me the name of an installation company, Kapstar LLC, as they don't install their own product. The president of the company came to my house. Discussed installation. I told him I had outdoor furniture that I needed protected from the rain. He told me where the proper place was to install the awning. His installers were 3 hours late, he was not there for installation, it had started to rain. The awning was not installed properly and water was pooling up on the awning. The water did not drain off the awning. The installers kept poking the awning with a pole to get the water off and said, "That's what you have to do," they would not correct the problem and kept asking for the rest of their money.

When I spoke with the president of the company, the one who sold me the awning, he never cared to take the time to come out my house to see if the awning was installed properly. He just kept asking for the rest of his money and did not care if I was satisfied, or even if the work was done properly - there was no pitch to the awning. He was extremely rude, unprofessional and incompetent. I was disappointed in SunSetter because I found out later they had many complaints about this company, yet they continued to recommend them. Don't EVER EVER use Kapstar LLC for installation.

I live in a subdivision that has an HOA and they allowed me to put in a permanent type of glass covering. I needed a sort of shade so it would deflect the sun that was coming to the dining room that I have around sunset time. And in the fall, it’s an ideal thing to go out there and have some breakfast or barbecue. The shade would also deflect the sun so the heat wouldn’t get into my sunroom. The team at SunSetter Awnings is very helpful. They helped me pick a style out. My installation experience was very good. There were two boys that came out to do it and they installed the 12 foot wide by 10-foot awning efficiently. They ran a line down to the outlet for the remote control. The awning is sturdy. It has an electric motor that lets the awning retract automatically. It has some sort of an electronic eye that measures the wind, and if it’s too windy and I’m not in the house, it picks itself off.

Updated on 06/07/2019: Wrote a review last year after the awning showed up in a packing tube that looked like it had been run over a few times (not SunSetter issue), and the cover and hardware were not in packaging. Their solution was to send new mounting hardware for the cover so the installer could get it installed prior to the awning going up. Long story short, that was a year ago, a year, and they had told me the cover was being “redesigned” and would ship in November. The next info was the cover would ship in 2019 and the hardware that was installed may not work with the new cover. Doesn’t matter because here we are a year from this starting and no cover, no communication. It’s a cover, not a highly technical product, a year?????

Summation, don’t do business here based on “free” material....you may never see it. For something like this work through someone local who you can get the straight scoop from. Awning is OK, but the experience has been less than.

Original Review: Ordered a 15' awning back in June. Showed up weeks after their initial ship date. When we ordered, one of the incentives was a free cover. The free cover was not with the awning when we finally received it, and we have still not received it...almost November. Never heard from them other than an email a long time ago that they had 1000 covers on back order. We had hardware mounted for the cover when they put the awning up, can only hope that this hardware will work when we receive it...or if we receive it. Rare for me to write a review like this but feel all should be aware of these issues and their lack of communication in regards to an obvious long term issue.

I was looking at awnings for quite a while and I thought that they would work good for what I wanted when I’m on my deck or around my pool. I was right but I was waiting. The cost was a factor and it held me off for some time. When I cold finally afford them, I went with it. The customer service rep came out to talk to me. He explained everything, made the prices and got all the measurements. He was very professional and pleasant enough to talk with. The team showed up and they were quite the characters. They knew what they were doing and made everything look easy. They joked amongst themselves and with me. I stood out there watching to see what was going on and they enjoyed what they did. They were enjoyable to have around.

The color of the awning matches with my pool. I was gonna go with a different color but the initial guy who came out recommended blue and pointed out the reasons. I took his advice and I was glad I did. What I wanted and what I thought would work probably would not have. I bought two motorized awnings with the remote control. They work perfectly and I’m extremely happy with them. I’m thinking of putting another one in. I really like those things.

I had a number of people comment on them and they asked me about it. My daughter lives across the street and she’s thinking about putting one up at the back of her house over her hot tub. I’ve recommended it very highly. I have the rep’s business card and I showed it to people who copied the information down whenever they walk by the pool. I’ve had three people who said that they have seen the ads on TV and now, they have seen how it works and that SunSetter is reliable. They were as impressed as I am.

We were gonna be redoing our deck this year and we wanted to put an awning on. I received some advertising in the mail, and then I called SunSetter and ordered additional information. It seemed that their product was exactly what we were looking for, and it was a little less costly than other ones. We had a local person that we went through to order it and that was a good experience, but it ended up being very delayed. The store kept saying that they were in touch with the company and they would let us know as soon as it was shipped.

Initially, they told us it would take about six to eight weeks, but ours, for whatever reason, seemed to take much longer, and we weren't able to find out why. I wasn’t very happy with that. We ordered it sometime in June, and we didn’t get it until the end of August. Our biggest disappointment was that we didn’t get to use it this summer. We don’t know how it will stand up and time is the test. But we're satisfied. We’ve told people where we got it and because it’s a lovely awning. We really like it so far and have recommended it.

We looked into putting up a pergola and we looked at the Building Department. Our property goes right up next to a National Monument property and so, we couldn’t get an easement to do that to put up a new structure. We then decided on SunSetter. Everybody seemed to be nice but we were disappointed on how long it took to get here. It came in bits and pieces instead of all coming at the same time. They told us it was gonna be on a specific date and we hired people to come and we had our own people install it. I’m in a wheelchair, so I can’t do any of that and so, we had to cancel them three times before we finally got everything altogether.

So far, we love the awning but the biggest part of the summer was gone by the time it was up. SunSetter needs to get their shipping squared away so it all happens closer at the same time. Otherwise, we’re happy with it and it’s working. I would recommend SunSetter to a friend and I would ask them to come over and check out the awnings themselves.

It gets hot here in Sebring. Last month, the thermometer in the backyard was reading over a 100. I wanted to do an aluminum closure, but the counties down here are crazy with their permits and anything that’s permanently attached isn’t tax-free. So, I decided to purchase an awning. The people from SunSetter Awnings did a great job. Joe, the guy who came in, was a very nice man. He went over a whole bunch of stuff and he was very thorough.

We looked at the book which has the material in it and gives you a good view of what the pattern actually is. It has colors that SunSetter's TV advertisements do not show and they should show all those colors because some people would like different ones. I picked one out of the pamphlet and then Joe called me up a couple of days later. He said that they didn't have that color at the time, but it would take about three weeks to get it when you order it. A week later, he called me and said SunSetter got the color in so I could still get it if I want it. I told him to change the order back to the original one we picked and everything worked out well.

Joe, together with the technical guy that he had with him, also did the installation and I was very impressed with them. Joe kept me informed of everything including shipping, they did what they were supposed to do, and they had all the tools they needed so they didn’t have to go running around for nothing. They even changed some things as far as the way they wired the awning to the way I wanted it. The only issue I had was they forgot the side curtains that came with the package deal that I bought, but it was no problem. I called them up about that and Joe said they got the curtains. Then in about ten minutes, he called me back and asked me if he could bring the curtains the following week, which he did.

I’m pleased with the awning. It works fine and I got the remote control on it. It also does what they say it would do. It cuts the temperature down and you could sit out there when it’s 90 degrees and you’re not dying. You put the awning back and you’re soaking wet in ten minutes. The only thing you gotta do is remember to close it. I bought the wind sensor thing, but still, I have to close the awning because when it poured rain and it got wet, I hit the button standing there waiting for the water to come off, and the water came but the sensor didn't let me know it was coming so I got soaked.

I was not happy with the light kit that came with the awning too. It has cords in between it that are kinda curled up like crinkly or curly fries. I’m 6’4 and the outside back comes in just a little bit lower than 7 foot. Those wires hung down and when I'd walk out there, they were about to touch my head. So, I called SunSetter up, talked to Joe and asked him if I could get some of the little plastic clips they have to hang with the lights.

He called me back a day later and said that SunSetter would ship me those for nothing. I told him I'd pay them since that was something I wanted extra to put up there, so the wires would be out of the way. He said, "No," and told me I could send them back if I want. He then gave me a phone number to call which I called really quick. The rep who answered the phone was also nice. I was told that the clips were shipped the day before I called and I should have them the next day. So, I can't complain about that. The awning's got a wind warranty on it as well so if anything goes wrong with it, SunSetter will fix it. I'd recommend SunSetter to everybody. They’re not cheap, but they’re good. I’m very, very happy with them.

We’ve been customers with SunSetter Awnings for a long time. We started out in the 80s buying an awning and their product is absolutely fantastic. Their flagpoles are resistant to anything and they are wonderful products. However, their downfall is their shipping. They say it’s free shipping but they use UPS. On one of our purchases, I kept calling and saying, “You said it would be two weeks, now it’s three weeks. Where is it? Now, it’s four weeks.” They said that UPS lost it. Those were 12 feet long tubes and they lost two of them, so the summer was practically over before we got them. We ordered an Oasis, a new product that's free-standing, and a regular one to be attached. I ordered them in June, but we got them in August.

I ordered another one again and the product itself was excellent. And just recently, I ordered another one and it came through UPS. The man from the UPS who delivered it wrote an ink on the label that the tube, which is tough hardboard, had been punctured, but they didn’t see any reasonable damage. I called SunSetter and I said that we haven’t opened it because I needed a handyman to put them up. I also read to them what the note read and I said, “So when we open it up, if there is any damage, I want you to be aware of it.” The customer service team was excellent and they were apologetic. I called to say that there was a slice in the tube and they said that they took all my notes down. They also said, “We tell them not to use a forklift but many times they do and using a forklift, they puncture the tube.”

SunSetter is an excellent product and I don’t think it can be beaten. Since we lost the whole summer with the UPS losing the product, at a certain point, I said to them, “The summer will be gone and we still don’t have it. Can you just order us a new one?” They said they make them as they are ordered and they are not something that is kept in stock. I finally convinced them to create two new ones for us and get it within the two weeks that they promised. Within a week, the original ones appeared, so I quickly called them and canceled the second order. They were very accommodating in trying to placate us by saying, “We’ll throw in a free cover and a few other items,” that are accessories that we didn’t need. They tried to be accommodating by giving us those items for free which were about a total of $500 retail, which was considerate.

We’ve been wanting an awning for several years now and we know people who have SunSetter Awnings and they’ve always seemed to be very happy with them. The price was very good and we purchased a burgundy awning with tan stripes. It can do motorized operation but if the electricity happened to be out, I could do it manually. SunSetter was late in getting the awning to us though. When we got a hold of them to find out what had happened, they said their orders were way up and that they would have to special make ours. So it was a couple weeks more than what they had told us in the beginning but they clarified that they were behind schedule because they had a lot of orders. Still, we tracked it with a tracking number, and when they said it would be here, it was promptly here.

The instructions were very good and once my husband and a couple of friends laid the awning out the right way, they were able to put it up. It’s heavy so they had a little bit of trouble but other than that, it was very easy to install Since then, it has worked wonderfully. Anytime it’s really sunny and we wanna use our patio, we put the awning out. The advertisement said that it’ll lower the temperature of our patio by about 30 degrees and it definitely has done that. We got the hood for the awning too so it would keep the snow off and in the rain. That works well also. We’ve had a very good experience with SunSetter Awnings and I’d absolutely recommend them. They stand behind their word and they make a very good product.

When I work out in the yard, I don’t have any place to go without getting right in the sun. I’ve also got a table and chairs out there and I’ve been wanting an awning for a long time to put on this deck at the back. Then I got SunSetter brochures in the mail that said that you would get $350 off if you would order it by a certain time, plus you would get six patio lights to go across it. When I called them to get an estimate on it, they came right away and they put the order in that night. Then it came here in about three weeks, but I didn’t like the way they delivered it. The guy just pulled up in front of the house and opened up the back of the truck, pushed it out, and dragged it into the garage.

We had to have the awning installed on the top of the house because there was not enough room above the door to put it. They had three guys to install it and it didn’t take ‘em too long. Then as quick as the guys unrolled it, I saw that it had spots all over right away. They got the ladder out and got up there and they said that it was where the ink dye dropped and went all the way through it. For the price I paid, I wasn’t gonna accept it. So they ordered a new replacement canvass that night and I got it within three weeks. But, they have never come to replace it.

The second time I called SunSetter, I told them that the new replacement was here. I also asked how I could order one of those wind sensors to put on there, so if I'd be in the house and wind would come up, it wouldn't damage the awning. They then said that they would order the wind sensor and pay for it. Then I could just pay them $295 plus tax when they would come out to install this new canvass and the wind sensor. So I’ve got a bunch of money tied up with this awning, but it’s gonna be worth it. Sunsetter advertises that if you’re under their awning, it’s 20 degrees cooler than it is outside. But on a really hot day, I stayed under the awning and it did go down 10 degrees, so it does help.

We were gonna build a hard patio cover, but there were some challenges with the clearance that we had to do that, so we looked at SunSetter for quite a while and we made a decision to go with their product. Though we looked at other options, the SunSetter was the best one for what we were working with. The rep came out and we talked about it. We did some measurements, paid the deposit and ordered it. It took a week or two to get the product in and once it came in, he made contact to set up a date to come and install it, and it all worked really well. It was a good experience.

We got the motorized awning and it is remote-controlled. We just push the button and it goes out. We can take it out as far as we wanna take it out. We can take it all the way out or we can only go halfway with it. It depends on what we are looking for and it is something that we can take out and bring back in. It is on the patio that is right in front of the swimming pool. When we wanna go out and it’s sunny, we can let the awning go out. Then, we put it back in because if the wind kicks up, we don’t want it to get torn off. It’s a fabric-type cover with a metal frame on it but it works very well and I don’t have any issues with that. It’s a good product.

Purchasing an awning had been on my mind for years and now was the time to do it. The guy from SunSetter that first came over explained everything, and we wrote up a contract. He then called me ahead of time and his crew came in. It looked like they were tearing down the whole house, but they did it right. They put the awning up, tested it out and it was great. We chose the color to match up with the roof, and the trim around all the windows are also the same color. We got the electric model without the wind sensor since it would roll up if the wind started getting too much. I also got the remote and it’s up on the wall here so I can undo it and do it when I want. The few times I've had to pull the awning out to show other people, it worked perfectly.

We have been in this house for 32 years and we had a patio out at the back but we can never sit on it from 1:00 o'clock to 5:00 because the sun was on it. I've been wanting to get some kind shade, and we went to Sunsetter since they had a good deal and they had the color I wanted. The salesperson came here two different times. The first time he did, he explained everything including the sunrooms, screen rooms, and pergolas. Then he came again, and I decided on the awning. He was good. The one I have is a motorized awning with remote control. It's navy blue with a white pinstripe and it has a wind sensor on it.

The installation took three hours. They came at 9:00, and they were done after 12:00. They even took a break ‘cause it was a very hot day, and they went and got some water and gotten shade for a little bit. They were very skilled and you could tell that they had done this before. After they were done with the installation, they showed me about the lights, how to turn them on and then to dim them. I caught how to turn them on, and then for days, I tried to dim them, and I couldn't get them to dim. I went through the book and DVD but nowhere in there said how to dim the lights. So I called their representative and he told me what I was doing and how it should have been done. Dimming the lights was very simple, but it's not in the book and not in the video either.

Other than that, the awning changed our outdoor activities immensely. In fact, I got out some Adirondack chairs and plants. You can go out there first thing in the morning and also sit out there in the sun from 1:00 till 5:00. It has LED lights too so you can go out in the evening after supper and sit with the lights on. Overall, I'm ticked at how it turned out. It's like another room.

My SunSetter awning was getting old. It has been many years since I got it and I needed another one for upstairs. Since the first one lasted for a long time and the motor is still good I decided to still go for SunSetter. I left the existing motor because it was still good and I just changed the fabric and then for upstairs I added a whole new set, which is 8 feet. The installation team was professional.

The awnings keep the deck clean and since it’s waterproof it keeps us from the rain and dirt. However, it’s important to pick a good SunSetter dealer because I had a couple of issues. There was a problem with the installation but they came right away and fixed it. The product is also very costly. A friend of mine found a much cheaper deal with the same fabric and that was something that I found out after. Nevertheless, SunSetter has an excellent product.

We looked at a SunSetter awning before but it was out of our price range. Then we got the coupon and the packet in the mail which said $250 or something off. It had all the prices listed in it so we could do the math and figure out what we could afford and it prompted us to look at buying the awning seriously again. Then we made the phone call and their local rep was very accommodating. His name was Robin and he was very nice. When he came to the house, he was here on time and he went over everything. It was a low to no pressure sale and he helped us get the awning delivered.

We had an issue with UPS for the delivery and they were difficult to get in touch with. They would leave one message and when we tried to call them back, we couldn’t connect. It took almost two days and Robin had to call them and said he would pick it up at this location. So, that was a bit of a dissatisfier but it was more the UPS side of it. Once Robin had the awning and he came to the house, my husband helped him put it in the yard. Then that following Saturday, he and another guy came and installed it in about two hours. It seemed to go out very easy and there were no issues at all. Robin also installed it when he said he was going to.

We went with the 10 x 20 awning and the color is like a burgundy and taupe almost with white stripes. It's beautiful. We got the electric one so it automatically comes out. We also got the sensor so that if it's too windy and the awning is out, it will retract on its own. Considering the fact that we've had a real warm spell this summer, it has really helped keep the area of our deck over our garage, which is kind of a game room, a lot cooler. Even with the blistering heat that we had, we were able to enjoy being outside a little bit more and the awning has extended our ability to use the outdoor space. So it was a perfect year to do it with the weather and overall, everything was very good with our experience.

However, I haven’t gotten all that they’re supposed to send me. They've sent me the side panel but I'm still waiting on the front one. I guess it's on back-order.

I was told that they could come and put it up but when they told me what the installation would cost, it was high. The person I hired to put it up did a fine job though. Now that I have the SunSetter awning, I can get out on my patio and stay longer. Initially, I had decided not to get one because it’s so windy here. In fact, I was about to lose my awning yesterday. I had it all reeled out and I was sitting out there and enjoying myself. All of a sudden, a gust of wind came up and I thought it was coming down but it didn’t. Ordered a Vista 15' awning and waited for delivery after the first ship date was pushed back weeks. When it finally showed up, UPS freight left it on our back deck without a signature. The tube it was shipped in looked damaged and one end was open. Not a SunSetter created issue, but the response has been poor. First call I was told to take the awning out of the tube and inspect it, they would then ship me any parts I needed to repair any damage. I told them after paying what we paid I had no interest in fixing a brand new awning. After many calls and emails I had no choice but to take the awning out of the tube and found that the "free" cover and all the mounting was missing along with the touch up paint.

More calls and I was told to install the awning since the cover was on back order, in fact they told me they had 1000 covers on back order. Watched the install instructions and read the install book, both said to mount the cover before the awning. Called again and was told they would ship me the install kit via second day shipment. Would have been good but it did not ship for three days and when I received it all that was I the shipment was two mounting clips, not a complete mounting kit. Called again and was told I was not shipped the correct material...no kidding.

Still waiting for mounting kit and the install instructions for the cover are built around having the cover, which I still have no idea when I will receive. Actually was willing to return but since the shipping tube was damaged when received it we tossed it. Believe it or not they told me I could ship it back but would have to pack it in a "box" to ship it back. A box for a 15' awning??? Needless to say if I could return I would. At this point we still don't have the awning up after all this time. My advise, check out local companies so you have someone who is interested in the sale and is willing to solve any issues.

At first, SunSetter Awnings was hard to get a hold of. We finally got a hold of them and they signed us up. However, they were having trouble getting a shipment from Chicago. We were about ready to give up the whole nine yards and they were too, but they had finally gotten the shipment. Then they came and put it in.

The installation went fine. SunSetter Awnings had three men to start off, but they had to call the main place to set up the computer on the awning and that took forever to do. The first person they had on the line was in training and didn’t know exactly what he was doing. Eventually, they got to the right person and had it set up. It had been fine ever since then. However, they were supposed to bring us back a different remote control, but I never heard back from them on that.

We use the awning every day because it’s very hot during the day. We were mainly worried about the sunroom that we have on one side with all the windows. The awning gives the sunroom shade, but it also takes in our bedroom and it really helps keep some of the heat from coming into the room. Overall, our SunSetter is excellent. Several people in our area have them already and I haven’t heard anybody complain about the brand at all.

We just moved into a condo and the sun hit our back section from the south and it was heating up fast, so we wanted to have some covering over our patio. The neighbors in our complex all have SunSetter and they have restrictions. They only want us to have SunSetter of two different types. The SunSetter sales rep went through the pricing and he was helpful. When the installers came, they did a wonderful job and we were very satisfied with them.

I was reading the manual after they had left and it says that if I want to make any adjustment on my own, there was a certain size Allen wrench that came with it but they didn’t leave that. That’s not a big deal though. Allen wrenches are a dime a dozen, so if I ever wanna do that, I can certainly get one on my own. I use the awning every day and it's great. I just pick up the remote. It goes out or back in. The sun doesn’t hit us now. It doesn’t get too hot in the back of the house and we've enjoyed the awning since we've got it. My friends would also enjoy having the awning and there was no problem dealing with the company.

SunSetter had a presentation at a home show we went to and with the way the guy presented himself, we decided to get an awning from them. My husband decided to book an appointment with the salesman. This salesman was kind, honest and knowledgeable but not pushy. I liked his approach. The installation went very well and the team was professional. They came out, went to work and knew their stuff. They showed up when they were supposed to and did what they were supposed to do without wasting time that it was enough to answer questions and to demonstrate everything.

We had a very good experience with SunSetter and we thought of getting an awning because we are retired and are spending more time at home but it is hot during the day. Now, the porch and deck are cooler. I felt like the porch was more of a room instead of just a deck. My husband opens the awning up every morning, and most days, we are sitting out there. When the sun comes around, I pull it back a bit to make sure that the geraniums get enough sun when the sun starts moving to the other side of the house. The product is well-made and it makes me wanna spend a lot more time out.

Wanted a SunSetter for years. Finally ordered it, waited 8 weeks and the installers were installing it. Then came the "knock, knock" and "We're sorry but the arm is broken and it has to go back". Meantime, I already have the ugly brackets on the roof. Dealer got it replaced (wanted to send pictures but were told not necessary). A second part was received and not only was it the wrong part it too was damaged. Now supposedly a whole new awning is being sent. It's 8/27 and I've been waiting since 6/8. When I call customer service they just tell you that you have to talk to the dealer. The dealer has been fine. Sunsetter evidently doesn't have QC of their manufacturing or their packing. No concern is ever expressed by customer service whatsoever.

It is their brand that is being tarnished when I tell my story. And of course, when I have company on the patio they always ask what are the brackets on the roof? So many people have heard of the experience. I have no idea what to expect when the 3rd shipment arrives but I don't have hope it will be in good shape based on their history of QC and disinterest. The indication of a good company is how they handle the challenging situations and make good on them... Not the case with the Sunsetter company. You are just a sale to them and if you bought from a dealer that they authorized and back, you are of no interest to them whatsoever. It's amazing to me especially in this day of social media. This is the first review I have ever posted. But I've given up on their customer service department.

I liked SunSetter's local dealer and I ended up purchasing a motorized awning from them. When they put it in, the installation was very straightforward. However, I'm a little disappointed with the remote's design. The buttons are backwards on it and it is the most ridiculous design fault I’ve ever seen in my life. I asked the dealer about it and I was told that every single person that they ever set up a motorized awning with had complaints on the very same thing. All they had to do was flip the buttons around but I haven't done that and it’s a pain in the neck enough that I will have to probably do it someday. SunSetter Awnings was also a little overpriced for what I got. The remote's design ought to be right for what I spent.

My husband and I ordered replacement fabric for our SunSetter awning on July 24, 2018. We were told it would arrive within 3-4 weeks. Over three weeks passed, and I noticed I had received an email confirming shipment of our awning cover, but had not received an email regarding the actual awning. I contacted SunSetter and the representative informed me that our material had been backordered and that it had not shipped yet. Irritated that I had not been informed sooner given that the summer was coming to an end, I asked what SunSetter was doing for its customers who were affected by this backorder. She offered to send me a cleaning kit free of charge. I told her I wanted to speak with my husband to see if he wanted to cancel the order and wait until next year, since the awning would just sit outside in the rain all season.

When I mentioned canceling the order, the rep (after first threatening that there was no guarantee that prices wouldn’t go up next year) informed me that the awning would be shipping on August 20th (which was only 5 or so days away) and that it was being shipped FedEx to make up for the delay. She said it would be arriving by the end of that week. Feeling that this was an appropriate solution, I got off the phone and spoke with my husband, who agreed. We called back and accepted the cleaning kit (which we found out later doesn’t even work on the fabric we ordered) and agreed to go forward with the order. August 20th came and went, and I still did not receive a confirmation email regarding the awning shipment. On August 23rd, I told my husband to call SunSetter to see what was going on.

My husband spoke with another representative who said that the material was backordered and wouldn’t be shipped for another 1-2 weeks. My husband informed the rep that we were assured the awning would ship on the 20th. Apparently, that was a lie. So, that meant the awning wouldn’t be arriving until mid-September, assuming that this new estimate was true. SunSetter offered us some deck lights (which we have no use for, and declined), but refused to offer a monetary discount on the product that they had literally failed to deliver. This type of delay, on an awning meant to be used in the summer months, with no genuine recompense offered is outrageous.

It is the company’s fault that we didn’t receive our product when promised, and it didn’t cost the company, it cost us the second half of the summer without an awning to shade our deck and keep our utility bills down. Needless to say, we cancelled the order. I haven’t researched whether we can get the fabric elsewhere, because if we can, we will. This company treated us poorly: they failed to deliver our product as promised, lied to us regarding the situation, and refused to compensate us for their fault. Very disappointed with this experience.

It was a good three months from the time I ordered an 18’ motorized awning till it was up. The first two awnings sent to me were damaged in shipping. A very frustrating experience to say the least. The damage to the first was only seen after it was installed. It would have been MUCH worse except for the customer service at SunSetter. They always had a customer first attitude. They were reasonable and helpful through the many calls during the summer-of-the-awning-installation. My wife suggested we just cancel the order after the second awning arrived looking like it had been run over a few times. But then we thought, “what are the odds of getting customer service like this from another company?” Slim to none these days. We have a five year warranty and confidence now that it will be honored!

You don’t expect things to go this bad when you order a large item like this. But in the rare case when it does, you want to be dealing with a company like Sunsetter. The awning itself is great. The LED lights, metal hood and wind sensor look good and work well. Everything went up as expected. Easy to adjust. Good documentation. So far, no problems. I strongly recommend the awning products and more importantly the company.

I live in Florida and the back of my home is in the sun all day long. I was also looking for a roof covering to go across the extended lanai. I decided to get an awning and I had familiarity with SunSetter from a friend of mine who has two of their awnings. So, I had them come out and Michael from the Sarasota division was phenomenal. His knowledge of the awning was not over my head and he presented everything it did, the fabric content, the motor, and all the details of the awning package in such a way that he wasn’t pushy. He wasn’t trying to upsell me either. He was just presenting the facts. He was very professional and easy to work with. Several times, I asked him for his opinion and he gave it in such a way that it didn’t favor one product or the other.

I went with the motorized awning and the highest fabric upgrade. It's 14 by 10 and a half and the the fabric is platinum. The 10-year warranty on that particular fabric was important to me because down here, the sun is so hot and penetrating. I wanted something that was more fade-resistant than whatever they offered. Also, we live very close to Tampa Bay and because of the bay breezes, I needed something that was breathable and flexible.

We’re outdoors 10 months a year and here, you have to let the air come out. Otherwise, you drop dead of the heat. I also have the awning in the extension on my lanai and I put it out each morning because it helps cool the living area of the house as well. My experience with SunSetter was very positive and the awning is something the neighbor have to see before they get it. I would recommend SunSetter Awnings. In fact, I’ve sold three in my community since I put mine up.

I had been in the market for an awning for awhile and since family and friends have used SunSetter, I bought one from them as well. Their team was very interesting to work with. It took me a while to get the rep to get in touch with me, but he did, and he was a very nice gentleman. His name was Neil and it also took a while for him to get the product in for me. I told him I was gonna have it for a party that I had been planning and I'd gone to him four weeks before the party. But that didn't happen. We overcame that, though, and that was all right. During the installation, the three guys who came out took three hours to do it and they did a great job.

After I got the awning installed, I got a call from the distributor's owner, the boss of the rep, and he told me that I had not paid for my awning. I told him that I paid the whole bill in cash but he said that his record showed that I didn't pay anything. He also said that they were having problems with the rep, that he was holding money, and that I needed to call him and make sure he paid his boss. But I told him that that had nothing to do with me. Then, nobody ever called me back to tell me if the issue was settled or whatever happened to it. So, I had such a disappointing experience with the sales rep and the owner of the distributor.

The other thing is, I told the rep I wanted the awning to come out and cover my deck but it's about half a foot short. So when you're sitting in chairs at the edge of my deck, you're gonna get wet. So overall, I love my product. It's a retractable awning that's roof mounted. But at the same time, I wouldn't recommend this distributor to anybody.

The first awning from SunSetter that we had was getting old and it was one that was manual. We're up in the age, and we wanted a controlled one, so we purchased a second awning from SunSetter. We had the number from the old SunSetter and we thought it was a number in Kalamazoo of a company that sold it. We were gonna go through that company, but instead, we got the general headquarters when we called that number. And then they supposedly were supposed to get in touch with the store in Kalamazoo, and then they were supposed to get in touch with us. It went about a few weeks before that happened. Finally, I called again and just ordered it right straight from that company. The one that we finally ordered it from was okay, but, after we got them, we got a message from the one from Kalamazoo that they'd liked to get in touch with us. However, we already had ours bought and shipped here.

The company where we bought it from said that we would get notified when they were gonna ship, but we never heard anything. My husband was having hip replacement surgery, so we wanted it before that. Then we were going on vacation as well so we didn't want them to call while we were gone. And yet, every time I called to see where it was, it was in Illinois and they had a problem and then it was gonna go to Battle Creek. We just called them and told them to hold up on shipping it, from wherever it was until we got back from vacation. Eventually, we got it.

During installation, we had to jerry-rig it a little bit because we did not look at the directions real good, and you had to have so much room from your overhang down. If we had the correct amount of space, it would have been a breeze, but because we didn't, we had to lower it down because there wasn't enough room between the sliding door and the overhang. We managed to get it done though and it's also a whole lot nicer.

We added on a new porch and deck so we wanted an awning so we could sit on our deck easier. The contractor who had built our deck had seen a coupon in a paper for people that sold SunSetters and he recommended going SunSetters. The SunSetter rep was very upfront telling us about the company and telling us how far it was going to get out. The only thing was he said, "We’re pretty close, up-to-date, so within two weeks, you should get it." And I said, “Oh, good. That’ll be before we go on vacation.” Then they called us and said it was gonna be delivered the week we were on a vacation. I told him that I already mentioned that that week wouldn't work but that was the only disappointment with him.

The other disappointment was when we get on our deck during the afternoon sun and as the sun’s going down, there’s no more shade or anything there and it’s so hot. So I keep thinking, “What can we do to help that?” I know when I was at the county fair, a trailer had a type of screen that they put on to help with the sun but that’s not gonna help because it was hooked to the rollers, and I’m needing it on the right side of the rollers to do that. If I had to do that, I would probably have to pull it up and take a `bit down, and I’m only 5 foot 1 1/2 and the shortest place of the thing is 6 foot. That’s a little bit of a problem. The only thing I could think I guess we could’ve done, we thought we wanted it exactly centered over two windows we have, and that’s where we wanted it.

If we knew that the sun’s gonna come down at that area maybe we could’ve moved it little further towards the front door, and then that definitely would have the afternoon sun maybe covered. It could still be off but what we lacked was the shade was over in the yard. This has been our biggest disappointment in it, but that was something we didn’t think about at the time.

The only thing that I also keep getting concerned on is that it gets a little breezy. Our TV station would actually come on and say it was 25 miles per hour wind. I don’t know my wind strength to know how much is coming in there. Other than that, we make sure that we put the awning away. I will recommend SunSetter but think about where you're getting your sun from.

My townhouse faces north, so my backyard was in that terrible heat. It has a big patio and it was so hot, I couldn't use it. So, I finally decided I would need to do something and got an awning from SunSetter. But I didn't care much for the guy who installed it. I also got a panel that hangs on the east side of the awning, because when I was outside, the sun would come up, go right under the awning, and hit me in the face. I thought that wasn't gonna do, so I called and the guy said they have something for $191. It's like a sheet, except it's plastic and it's porous. When the installer came, he said to look at it in the box before I take it out, like I would take it out and say I don't like it and put it back. I was to put it back, so I didn't like his attitude about that.

The installation wound up really fast. I would have liked to have one that was 10-feet wide but that would cross my back door right in half under the vent there from the upstairs bathroom. So, I couldn't have 10 but I'm not sure though that eight feet is enough. Other than that, it's true what they say, it keeps your patio 20 degrees cooler than where the awning isn't. So, I will enjoy that. But they kinda told me to only leave it open when I'm gonna be outside and by that time, if I don't go out until 11 o'clock, the sun had already heated up that area like an oven. So, that part hasn't been good. But I understand that if we would have big a hailstorm or a windstorm, that wouldn't be good to leave it open.

I've always liked everything I've read about SunSetter, and I had my girlfriend check into it a lot for me. I was real pleased with the customer service that I got here. The gentlemen that came out and put the awning in were very careful. My satellite was right there so they moved it over a little but so it wouldn't touch the awning. They worked hard and did what they were supposed to do. They asked me anytime they did something if it was okay. The only thing that went wrong was after it was all in and I went to put it down, it was the wrong color. The gentleman that came out ordered the wrong one, and he called and apologized plus he gave me a credit. I've also had two follow up calls from them since the installation.

The awning I got is the small one but it covers half of my patio. I got a remote and a wind sensor with it because I have crippling arthritis and because living in Idaho, we have a lot of winds here. Yesterday, I took my Australian Shepherd to the vet for her checkup and it was blowing 50 miles an hour here, and I forgot to put the awning back up. But when I got home, it was already up. I'm very pleased with it and I've already recommended it to five people. I have a girlfriend that has an appointment with SunSetter next week.

Seriously research if you're considering a SunSetter awning. The gentleman who sold us one really didn't give us the idea that we would have a problem where we positioned it. When we tried to use it, we can’t sit under it in the first 3 hours in the morning then the same in the last 3 hours of the day because the sun comes in both sides. I thought that the unit would come down and give us protection, but it doesn’t because we face north-south. We would have had second thoughts if we would have known it was gonna be an issue.

Also, they were a little crude when they did the installation. Something wasn’t fitting right and I didn’t expect them to use hammers to beat the pieces to put 'em in. I thought they were gonna break 'em. SunSetter charged us for a piece that goes on in the end, but that faces north and so that has no advantage. That was something that came with the package but I didn’t realize that I had paid for. Now I’ve gotta figure out how to get my money back and return that piece ‘cause it’s no good to me.

The canvas was shot in our old unit. But that unit had to be about 12 years old so it didn’t pay to just put the canvas on without replacing the old unit. So we decided to put on a new unit and SunSetter is one of the better companies in the market. They have a good reputation. We picked out the fabric that we wanted. The motorized unit that we wanted was a certain size, which they had in stock. The team we worked with was very efficient and friendly, and they did a good job with the installation. We use the awning for relaxation now and we recommend it.

I love my SunSetter awning. I have a nice shade on my deck from 10:00 till 4:00 in the day, and that's the time when I want the protection. I have a deck that faces due south. I had a good sized umbrella for a couple of years, but the deck is fairly large and the umbrella didn't do the job. In the summertime, it gets hot during the day. I couldn't even walk out on my deck in my bare feet. The deck was so hot. I went around my subdivision to see and I knew there was one awning. I spent about an hour, one 90-degree day sitting under that awning and I said that was for me.

There's a franchise here in Bloomington and I called a person there to give me an estimate and I thought his estimate was excessive. I had no idea they were that much, and I thought I'd call SunSetter and get some information from them. I did and found out the person was about $1,000 over what it was gonna cost me. Then I started getting determined to get the whole thing. It took me a while, but I'm a cautious person. Everybody from SunSetter I talked to was so nice. If I had a question, I called up and asked to talk to somebody.

I bought a 14-foot awning made of the laminate material. It's nutmeg colored and has the automatic control. I had to get my own installation done and did not go with the franchised person. Afterward, when the franchised person called me back, he was hostile and really upset that I did not call him back to tell him that I was ordering the awning. I just called him for an estimate and I didn't think I had any obligation to call him back. He asked how much I paid for it. I told him and he asked why didn't tell him. He said he could've offered it at the same price. I didn't think he could and I asked why he didn't do it in the first place. I was glad I did not deal with him. I recommended SunSetter to another neighbor of mine who came over to look at my awning at her son's advice. I told her all the good things about SunSetter and ordering it from the factory.

Everything was explained to me by their rep who kept in touch with me and told me it would take three weeks for it to be delivered. There were three technicians who came and they had the installation done in five hours. They also cleaned up afterward. Overall, everything went smoothly with SunSetter.

Although this is a nice product, the one and only reason I spent such an exorbitant amount of money vs other awning companies was because it was being offered by Costco, who I very much like and trust and because it had a 5-year warranty. Before I actually purchased the product I asked a LOT of questions such as installation. I was told that ANYONE could install the awning. I ordered the product, received it, and after contacting approximately 10 handymen, not one of them knew how to install this product. I was about to return this item and started the return process when SunSetter contacted me and gave me the name of a person who was familiar with SunSetter products.

They came and install the awning in 30 minutes and charged me $450!!! Apparently awning installers make more money than doctors or attorneys! Two years later, I have problems with the awning (the fabric has little holes and the hardware doesn't open/close). I called Customer Service and apparently the warranty is now limited and this is a do it yourself repair. I WOULD NOT recommend this product unless you are a very good handyman or a contractor who can do all the repairs yourself, or the cost to do something will be astronomical! Definitely do not recommend this product and the warranty is very deceiving.

SunSetter Awnings came up while I was researching the other companies that look like they were the ones that have awnings. I definitely wanted the SunSetter. Since they were an approved vendor, I used them. We got the 16-foot mocha with canopy over the top for damage and it’s motorized. Their reps were really good and efficient. They put it up, it works and it’s everything I expected it would be. When the installation started, it began to rain so they had to postpone it ‘till the next day. They did come in and because it was so long, and we wanted to have it up over a bay window, it took four guys to do it. They were very efficient and very good, and they did what they needed to do.

Since then, we’re outside more often than we were before and we have used it quite a bit. We have a large patio and we had nothing back there before so it’s nice having something out there now. Overall, I'm satisfied with SunSetter. It does everything we want it to do. It’s a little pricey, but other than that, everything is good. When you buy SunSetter, you know it’s gonna last. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s the best one in the market, which is what you’re paying for.

We bought a 10 by 16-foot motorized awning and it was about 100 degrees when these poor guys were putting it up. Other than that, there were no problems. We take the awning out and it keeps the sun off the back of the house. I’m sure in the years to come, it’ll be used more. It was an expensive proposition at $4000 but it serves our purpose and if someone could afford it and has a need for it, I’d tell them to buy it.

We live in the mountains and our deck is in the direct line with the morning sun, so we wanted to be able to use the patio more. SunSetter was the one that was advertised so much and I called about it, and I thought it would work out. The person who got me on the line helped me order and I thought that worked out fairly well. We got the best awning we could find to cover as much as we could. But then after all the items all arrived, I was very disappointed 'cause I ended up spending as much as I did for things I couldn't use. Plus it took forever. I started in March last year and it didn’t happen. This year, I started in March again and it took until the 18th of last month for the awning to be put up. I was very upset with all that.

People kept calling me and trying to get me to sign a paper on the computer. I told them that I'm 71 years old and I haven't used my computer since I retired. I was trying and trying then I couldn't find the password. My son helped me get as far as he could on the computer for me to use it. Then my daughter worked on it and made all phone calls from her house back in Maryland to make this happen, but SunSetter kept typing in the wrong things on the other end and they were sending it to somebody but it wasn’t coming to us. I asked them if they could just send me the paper in the mail, and they said it had to be done over the computer. It was crazy. I'd already sunk in $3,500 and I couldn't get the awning put up. I looked around for somebody down here but I couldn't get any help.

All of a sudden, a guy called me and said they'd be here on the 18th. They put the awning up but then he advised me not to use the the protection thing and he didn’t put it up. He didn’t know how to do it. They worked on it for a long time, but now I can use it and I'm very glad it's here. But it was hell to pay to get it here and months and months of fighting. Now, I've got lights I don’t need. I've got other things here that came with this big package that I don’t need either. I got charged for the fanciest awning that gave us all those items for free. But if I had gotten the one at a lesser price, it would have been better. I like the awning but it was a horrible experience.

The sales team of SunSetter was good while they were trying to get the contract. They were very responsive, however, once they had the contract, I was kind of feeling alone. I can understand that at the time that I called them they were busy and they were handling a lot of orders, but if you expect a consumer to use you again, you really have to be responsive also after the contract is signed. Also the level of care changed dramatically. I didn’t have that great of an experience. They seemed to be in a hurry and their attitude "Let’s just get this done."

The problem also is they’re the only SunSetter company that does installation. They have a monopoly for this area so I didn’t have many choices. If I had had other choices, I would have continued to look around and if there was simply a contractor, I would definitely not use them as I didn’t when I needed to have something fixed. When they installed it, part of the board that holds the awning came off the house again and rather than call them, I called my contractor to just fix it.

My previous SunSetter experience was back in ’93 and they were very responsive and polite/ They took care of it and they seemed to be concerned about resolving it. Even though I have used SunSetter twice, if I needed another awning, I would look around for another company and it’s not because of the product. My issue is with the contractor. So if you live in a different area look around and if there are other contractors around, check them out.

I wrote to the company several years ago and they sent me a whole bunch of papers. The salesman was a real salesman, and he sold me all kinds of things. But the crew that came here and put it on was just fantastic. We then gave them an extra good tip. Our awning is motorized in a way that when the wind comes up, it runs back automatically. It's colored white with blue stripes.

I use it every day. We roll it back at night and in the morning, we’d get up, we roll it down and it keeps the sun off the room. When you got up it was 70 degrees in there, by 10 o’clock, it would be in the 80s. On the first day, I checked it and it was 72 degrees when I rolled it out, and when I came back in about four hours later because the sun got over the house a little bit more, and it was still 70 degrees. It was a great thing. However, I got a card in the mail and it said to call this number and I did, and I stood on the telephone for 45 minutes because they were so loaded. Still, I would tell my friends who will ask about the awning to not put it off too long.

I had SunSetter Awnings before so I got them again and I got the expensive one with stripes that go out. But someplace along the line, somebody screwed up. We measured out the width of my deck, which is not very big, and how far it goes out. I understand it goes all the way out to the end of the road, like your belt on your trousers, but the new awning is going out past my west end, but the north and south are 2 feet short on each end. I tacked nails and used a ruler, and I was happy with SunSetter. And this time it's automated and it’s worked fine. It just can’t go in farther than it’s programmed to go. I saw the guy write the measurement down and the width is worth that.

Now, the awning goes left about 3 feet more. And that’s fine, I understand that it unrolls. It doesn't have to be there and it doesn’t get out there. But the north and south side don’t cover the deck. I was so disgusted. I thought, “To heck with this. I’m not gonna pay around anymore with it. I’ll just use it and never go back.” Overall, SunSetter is a quality product, but they screwed up when they put it together. The awning doesn’t cover my deck and the guy that installed it can do nothing but install what he has at his hand. I paid almost $3000 for this, and it still doesn'’t come out the right size. I liked the awning, but it’s not what I paid for and there’s nothing we can do about it.

They set up an appointment with the guy by the name of Drew and it took about five weeks to get the awning. He came down and once he got it, it was installed right away. It took two hours and it was done. The awning goes out easy and has its own remote control. The wind catches it and brings it right back where it’s supposed to. However, the lights don’t dim like they want them to and I never heard back from that at all. There was supposed to be three settings in the light and we only got one. The rep was very nice and helpful, and I had a great time dealing with the team that helped me. Likewise, the interaction was good when our awning was installed. The installers came early and got the work done very fast. Also, a guy went through all of the instructions with me and he was good. I got a motorized awning and I’ve been enjoying it very much.

During the summer, it’s very hard to go out to the back deck because there wasn’t any shade or anything there. The salesman was great but the company itself was the problem. We ordered the awning the first week in May and on the first part of June, I called the representative. He said that it has been ordered but SunSetter didn’t have the color in stock and that it was back ordered. I wasn’t happy with that.

Another three weeks went by and the awning came in. Right on the order, it said that there was supposed to be three brackets that hook onto the rafters to hold it in place. After unloading the awning and as the guys who came to install it were getting ready to put it up, they looked and said that there were no brackets there. So, they had to put it back in the tube and called SunSetter. Two weeks later, the parts arrived. The installers called the day before that it was scheduled to be installed and asked where the brackets were. SunSetter had to overnight them so that it could be installed. So, from the time we ordered it in May, we didn’t get it installed until the end of July. Nevertheless, we love the awning and it’s excellent but you have to expect delays.

My cousin got SunSetter and he said that we couldn’t have a nicer person explain everything. So we tried the same rep and she was very helpful. She couldn’t do or explain enough for us, and she was very pleasant explaining everything about the SunSetter awning. When we picked the one with the black, beige and gold stripes, she started to laugh. She said that it wasn't because we chose it but because it’s the one that they sell the most. We paid cash for everything right away. We got everything that we could really want in the awning including the push-button. So when my cousin came, he said that it's beautiful and bigger than theirs. The rep said that our deck could use a 16 and we figured we had the space so we went with it. Our backyard has sun from the first thing in the morning until almost at night, and we just can’t sit out there without something like that.

I am very satisfied with SunSetter, and the two fellows that came to install it were also wonderful. They came late in the afternoon and so I said they’d never finish the job. Then they said that they would and one fellow said that he has done it for years. I could tell he was the one with knowledge. He also said that their bosses are the best he has ever had. So, I was very pleased.

The only trouble we had was I had to take off my screen door on the back because, with the hardware, the door couldn't be opened. I would suggest that anyone who'd get SunSetter Awnings to get the motorized one because we’ve had a few gusts and we ran out to close the awning and it was already doing it on their own which was really nice.

We had a very large tree taken down and the area has been very hot since, so we decided to purchase an awning. Our salesperson at SunSetter did a very good job. He was very punctual. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him just because he answered any questions that we asked, he didn't pressure us, and he chose the color that would work with the color of the house and the shingles. So, we bought a striped, retractable awning from SunSetter. The salesperson and the carpenter that he brought did not rush the installation of the unit. They even took time to level it with the level tool, which I thought was important so it wouldn't be crooked. I noticed that right away. They took pride in what they did. It is really pretty and I'd like to put it out all the time just because of it but I don't want to wear it out or damage it when a storm comes up. So, I only put it out when I'm home and it's so hot or when we sit out on the back patio. It has the perfect color combination.

I had seen SunSetter Awnings' advertisement as well as I’ve gotten little brochures in the mail and I liked everything I’ve read about them. I’ve known other people that have gotten them and have always heard nothing but good stuff about the awnings. The rep who came out was very professional and very informative. He knew what he was talking about and answered all my questions. He did things and got them moving along in a timely manner, so I was quite pleased. Then there were two guys out here that did the installation and I couldn’t have asked for better. I was impressed by their work ethic. They did not know that this was gonna be an eaves or a soffit mount, so they had to leave and get wood. That was no big deal to me. They had the awning installed and showed me all the workings, all the ins and outs, and all the little amenities. They also told me about other little things that could be bought to put on the awning such as lighting.

The awning provides plenty of shade and gives me a 15-degree difference than being right in the direct sun. It’s everything I thought it would be and more. My granddaughter and I went out there and she fixed us cheese and crackers and juice. We sat out in my little Adirondack chairs and had the SunSetter out. It started to rain, but we still stayed out there, so we were happy. I show off the awning to everybody and I have recommended SunSetter. If one is thinking of putting a roof over their deck or a porch, then SunSetter is what they wanna go with. Definitely, get the electric one too.

We had also talked to a couple of people about it that had already purchased it and they absolutely loved it. We bit the bullet and tried SunSetter. Their sales team was absolutely nice, down-to-earth and very respectful. They were the same people that came out and installed the awning and they were great. The guy that actually installed it was really young and so funny and it was fun just to hear him talk.

We got a motorized awning that's 10x16 feet. It's big and has a solid beige color, and it's attached to the house. I have a screened-in-porch that's hooked to the port to the deck on the outside, so, in the mornings, when the sun starts hitting it, I put the awning out. That way, it also helps shade the screened-in-porch more and we don't get that heat from the floor. If it's not raining, I try to use it every day. If my friends are outside and they do a lot of entertaining or it's just unbearably hot, the SunSetter awning is well worth the money and I would tell them to get one.

They contacted me 11 days later saying that the order is being delivered on Aug. 1 which was on a Wed. I made arrangements to have someone at home to receive the order because of it being freight. They leave it at the curb. Shipment never arrived on that day so I made arrangements for the following Friday. Again, we waited only to be disappointed. Phoned UPS Freight in Wallingford, CT and was told the order was never put on the truck.

Rescheduled for Monday and again no order. Phoned UPS and was told they could only find 1 piece and they would contact me when they locate the rest of the order. Received a call the next day and was told they located it and that they would deliver it on Friday the 10th Of Aug. Here I am on the 10th writing this review because again there was no delivery and I was told that they couldn’t get it out until Wednesday or Friday of next week. That would bring us to Aug. 17. Almost 9 weeks later. Didn’t want to risk it again so I cancelled the order. All through this ordeal SunSetter’s customer service was of no help. I was told to work with UPS to get the order delivered.

In the wintertime, you want the sun to shine on you to get warm so we didn’t want to build a permanent roof. And then when the sun is out in the summer, you can use the awning to get in the shade.

The people from SunSetter Awnings that we talked to on the phone, all the way to the guy that came out to show us the samples and talked with us about the different models, and the installers, were easy to work with. The installers came out and did a good job. They introduced themselves, went straight to work, got it done really fast and they explained how the awning works and how to use it. It’s a nice awning.

We ordered the awning a little bit bigger than the deck because we wanted it to hang off past the deck so when it rains, the rain would drip off onto the ground instead of on the deck, and the installers made sure that we wanted it larger than the deck. They felt that might have been a mistake and they weren’t gonna put up the awning until we okayed it. That was really good because apparently, most people get it the same size as the deck and we didn’t wanna do that. Our whole experience was good except for them not coming back in three weeks to check and adjust it like they said they would. But that’s the only mistake they made.

The trees, especially in the summer, were high enough that it created some shade on a concrete pad that I had outside, my lanai, and we could sit out there. Now, since all of the trees were cut down on that whole area up and when the sun’s high in the sky in the summer, we couldn’t get close enough at the back of the house to be in any shade, so I thought that purchasing an awning might not be a bad idea.

I had seen an ad on TV and it talked about, “It’s 20 degrees cooler under this”. At that time, they were running a special of $200, so I got online to figure out if there was a local dealership close enough here. There were two. I put a call in through one of these two and I ended up with this gentleman. He was a nice enough guy and he explained things, but he was somewhat overbearing and was good with his tongue. Nevertheless, I went with him and we picked out what we wanted. I had done some measurements and I knew the size. He had come to the house and he spent an hour with us, and I signed up to get it done.

The guy that did all the work during the installation was a nice guy. He did all the hard work and the lifting and he knew what he was doing. We had a good interaction and I asked him some questions. We were good up until that point in time. The very same day that the awning was put up, it was out about halfway, not totally extended, and it started with a slight drizzle, so I wanted to close the awning. I heard a creak first, then a crack and one arm broke and came right through the screening of the lanai. The whole awning collapsed on the concrete pad out back.

The guy that put it up and represented SunSetter misrepresented SunSetter. I was watching the TV and SunSetter had the thing on. It wasn’t a downpour or a hurricane, but there was rain and the grandkids could now go up and down on the porch in bikes and all of the benefits of this SunSetter. I realized that the guy was giving me all the grief about something I didn’t understand, so I called the ad number that was on the TV. I asked if the awning could be up when it drizzles or rains a little. The rep said yes and that there's no problem with that. That’s what prompted my letter and I sent it to SunSetter because I felt that the guy was misrepresenting them. The awning wasn’t properly installed. It was not SunSetter’s fault but the guy's fault.

He finally agreed to come back out and took down the awning. It cost me another $298 to get it reinstalled. Before he even did that, he kept telling me that the awning was to screen the sun and it does not do anything for the rain. I cannot have it out when it rains at all, but he just overstated that. It was almost like, “You know I told you this.” He was putting words in my mouth and he was not that adamant about the thing. So he put it back up and now, I tried to find somebody to replace the screen. The person came out and said that they couldn’t put the screen up because the SunSetter that I have there interferes with where they would have to put the new screening in, to push that in with the little rubber grommet all around. He insisted that he couldn’t do it, so I called the guy who installed it back again and he said that the screen people didn’t know what they were doing and that he knows that they could do that.

I finally had a callback from the people that were gonna replace the screen and they said that they have a solution. The guy got back and said they could drop it by 2 inches where the screen gets attached by putting a 2-inch piece all across the lanai and put the screening on at that point, and that was what they did. It cost me close to $300 to do that. Nonetheless, the SunSetter product lives up to its billing. The material seems great and it’s supposed to be mildew resistant and also water-repellant.

I would recommend SunSetter if somebody had the same need as I have and I would tell them to give it some consideration, but I would tell them to be careful who they get to install it. The guy that installed it called me less than a week ago and he started out by talking nice. All of a sudden, he said to me that if I cost him any money through my letter to SunSetter, he is gonna sue me. That really set me off and I said that he better hire a good attorney. I was gonna continue, but he hung up on me, and that was the last I heard of it.

We built our mother a deck and my brother bought a motorized SunSetter Awning as a gift for her. He wanted to use a local dealer and she picked out the color and everything went well. I'm particular with my stuff, so I didn't want the guy we bought it from doing it. I ended up installing the awning myself and it was almost too easy. Plus, it is a great product.

You can’t watch TV without seeing the SunSetter Awnings. I have one on my RV and I like them. We got a motorized model and I enjoy sitting underneath it. The rep was fine and the installers did a good job.

We have an area in the back that was not usable because of too much sun so we decided to get an awning. I have a friend who was very pleased with her SunSetter and we had ours installed a few months ago. We paid $4,000 for it and the installation which was a lot of money. The awning is very pretty and so far, it's a great product. I was a little concerned about getting the dark one thinking it would be hotter and they assured me that it wouldn't. They said that the fabric will take care of everything. However, it's not quite as cool as all the advertising talks about.

The awning is about 21 feet wide and it's the extended one that goes far like 11.5 feet. They put together panels to create that width and I noticed the other day that there's a little scallop edge. From the house all the way out, it's fine but the scallop edge did not match up the pinstripes. It's a navy one with pinstripes every six or eight inches, and they don't line up. It was a part that SunSetter manufactured and didn't have anything to do with installation.

The weather here is hot and I didn't want a deck, so I decided to get an awning. I checked into two other companies that are here and SunSetter Awnings had the best deal and I liked what they offered. Dealing with their team was an outstanding experience. The salesman and the guy who came to put it in were great. I got their motorized awning and I'm loving its quality.

I was gonna have a big party and my deck was not usable in the summer so I wanted a good awning. SunSetter was recommended to me. I dealt with Backyard Solutions here in Paradise and they ordered it for me. It took quite a while to get my awning because UPS lost it, and it was a mess but the salesman followed it up because my awning wasn't coming. It was stuck in Redding, and the weekend was coming for my party so they came a day before and they had a loaner. That one was on consignment and they found out it had never been put up and it was flawed, but it was still functional for me and that was all I cared about. They put that up for me and it was a lifesaver. I really appreciated them doing that. They went above and beyond.

The awning comes in two parts and there was something they did not deliver and they couldn't put it on without that. Also my awning has a beige and sort of a maroon color and black in it but the cord is off-white and it has to be attached around the house. It's hanging down and hitting my eye so I needed to buy something to either paint it or wrap it because it looks yucky. They should make a different color because it doesn't blend in.

I built a new deck and it was so hot out in our summer house so we decided to buy a SunSetter awning. I ordered it on the phone and the guy I spoke to was very nice. I told him I wanted the awning to go out longer so it covers more but he said that it doesn’t. He sold me a guarantee instead and that for 15 years, it was against everything so I bought it too. He also told me about the LED lights. I got a 10 foot 3 inches awning and it is all electronic. I also got the LED lights with it as well as the shade that comes down in the front and the side. It was almost 3000 bucks.

My cousin came down and helped me install the awning as he had put up a couple SunSetter awnings for himself, his father-in-law and his brother. The installation was very easy and good. I wish though that I had another bracket that goes through the house. I let the people from church come up to our vacation place and I show the awning to them. However, it’s still hot out in the deck and the awning doesn’t give us enough shade. It doesn’t keep our deck cool like they say on TV and the video. I would have bought a 13 foot instead of a 10 foot.

I purchased my first awning more than 20 years ago. This time, I got the 10 x 16 awning with a remote from SunSetter Awnings. It’s white with a blue stripe across the bottom. Purchasing the awning was simple. We contacted the local dealer and they came out and did the whole thing, and it was a piece of cake. They're a father-and-son business and the son and one of the workers came out to install the awning. Then they adjusted it and cleaned up everything. The work was quick and it was all done in less than an hour. We’re out there all the time and we also use the awning halfway down to shade us from the sun and to keep the heat off inside the house. SunSetter provided great service and they were easy to work with, and our experience with them was super.

There was a local place that dealt with a different brand of awnings but we couldn't get them interested in even following up with a phone call. So I went online and found SunSetter which seemed like a good one to go with. Their team was good and very helpful but they couldn't seem to get somebody scheduled to show up here at the right time for the installation. We had three different appointments set up and people just never showed up. Eventually, they got somebody new and the guy did a reasonably good job. However, it seemed like he hadn't really worked on the product before. He had to read the directions and when I asked him a couple of questions, he didn't seem to know.

After he left, the awning looked like it was very slightly tilted. I didn’t really care that much but then, it looked to me like it was a little more slightly tilted. Maybe something slipped or maybe it’s my imagination. I've been thinking about calling the guy to have him check it out. But the unit is up, it works, and we didn't pay anything for the installation. So overall, my experience with SunSetter Awnings has been positive. They have a great product and people oughta check it out. They should get a price, a person to talk to and see what the options are.

We had SunSetter awnings done years ago in Jersey and we knew they have a good reputation. This time, the two guys who came here to do the installation were an uncle and a nephew. They were very good and professional. I talked to them and they were nice guys. We got a motorized awning and it goes good with the house because the house is a tannish color. And the awning has darker brown and lighter brown and tannish with the stripes down. I can utilize the awning now and it certainly helps. It would be nice this fall and winter because it is so hot out here.

I got a motorized awning in burgundy and beige and SunSetter Awnings was able to put it up so fast. The awning is a 10 x 12 and for the space that I have, it is still small. I wanted it right by the back door where the sun comes in and it shades it but the sun is still coming through on the side. Also, I paid too high for it. It’s 2,000 and something dollars for the awning and 450 for the guys to put it up.

One of my friends had purchased a SunSetter awning last year and he really liked it. The sun was hitting on my deck and it was not really a good place to put a roof, so I gave the awning a try. I went through a dealer and he met the prices that I found on the internet. It was over six weeks to get it delivered, but other than that, everything went well. I got the motorized axle and I did the installation myself and it went fine. I enjoy the ease of operation and I've told numerous people that I really like it and it’s doing a good job for us.

Our porch was very hot. When we called the people at SunSetter Awnings, they were nice so we ordered a motorized awning from them. It took a while to get the awning, but it didn't take long for SunSetter's team to put it on once they got it. It took them three hours and it all went well. They did a good job and it was fast. Since using the awning, it cooled our room a lot. It was nice. If friends would ask, I'd tell them to go ahead and get an awning from SunSetter.

Buy a SunSetter awning. They’re very nice. I bought one when Costco had SunSetter awnings on sale. SunSetter took a couple of hours to do the installation and I'm very glad that they have done a good job. They also cleaned up after themselves and I liked that very much. Now, I’m very happy with the electric awning. We live in a cottage where there is a house after house after house and it gets really hot in between the houses, so the awning cools it down. And as soon as it stops being so hot, we could enjoy the outdoors.
