    Awning material is not holding up. Purchased 08/11 for $2692.00 and is already full of small tears along the lower bar. Also a couple of seams have opened. Very poor quality and all SunSetter offered was a patch kit for $16.99. Will definitely not recommend.

    We weren't sure if a SunSetter would work on our house because of the amount of clearance we had on two different walls. I called the "local" dealer, which was 50 miles away. He said they do a lot of installs in our area, and would be in town in 3-4 days and could stop by and check out our situation. The dealer was very helpful and gave us the option of a roof mount, which we wouldn't have known about from the website. We ordered the day he was here, and the parts were delivered about 5 days before the 30-40 day window he gave us. They added us to the schedule and our awning was installed 19 days later. We've been VERY happy with the product. The wind sensor works GREAT, even in Wyoming wind.

    I think a lot of the complaints on this site have nothing to do with the product, and more to do with the local installations. The dealer in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming is WONDERFUL. It took 2 installers 12 hours to do the entire installation, with the first part taking what I thought was an awfully long time. But, I guess the prep work is important, and once it was done, it was completely done. The installers did have a hard time with the light clips, so those complaints here seem to be legit.

    I purchased a solar powered SunSetter EasyShade in Jan. 2015. It had a 3 year warranty, or so the SunSetter webpage and sales material said. I began having trouble a couple of months ago (May 2017) and called for help. We concluded the battery needed replacing but SunSetter wanted me to pay over $135 for the battery, stating that the battery would have had to be defective to get a replacement for free. Isn't a battery that fails in less than the 3 years warrantied by definition defective? In any case, in spite of the length of time between purchase and problem Costco Customer Service stepped up to the plate and arranged for a pick up and full refund. While the shade worked it was fine, but beware that the warranty is not a warranty! Thank you Costco, you do know what the term "customer service" means.

    We received our 15' awning via UPS Freight and both end caps of the 150+ lb package were completely destroyed. The material and design were completely insufficient and the screws used to hold the particle board pieces completely tore into the awning when it apparently slid out of the tube in shipping. When I tried to contact customer service to communicate my frustration and dissatisfaction, they immediately offered me free accessories. I iterated that I was only interested in speaking with someone responsible for shipping so they could correct what is clearly sub-par packaging (at least the method used to close the ends). They said they had no ability to communicate with shipping (it's a different location, building... whatever).

    So, Sunsetter Customer Service maintains that they have no ability to let a customer directly provide feedback to the shipping department! Seriously? The singular physical contact point between the company and the customer is the shipment and they don't have any way to funnel photos, documented issues with their packaging? The shipping tube likely costs over $100 and they use 50 cents worth of particle board and some sheetrock screws in the ends. Now I am supposed to "properly" package and return with completely destroyed packaging they used. So, I have to cut my own end caps using $1 worth of 2x12 solid wood, but they will not let me do them the favor of communicating a proper solution to their shipping department. I have pictures and they clearly show the shortcoming of the packaging design.

    When the particle board breaks, and it will, the remaining inward-facing screws will tear through the plastic and awning material when it slides out of the tube. The tears on ours were 8' into the center of the awning, so it had been more than halfway out of the tube during shipping. It is maddening that "Customer Service" would provide no conduit to me to ensure this information would reach the correct hands and that something would be done. The representative would only say, "I'll see if they can use 2 tubes for your replacement"!!! Really?

    In retrospect, I should have refused shipment simply based on the fact that both ends were destroyed and no longer in the tube (the freight driver simply handed them to me). All I can say is the company culture and competency is terrible. If a customer called and iterated this sort of issue, you would expect they would be interested in the details and nature of the failure. They were not. They only would offer me appeasement via lights, covers and cleaning kits that I didn't order and didn't want. I have requested my money back and now having difficulty getting a Return Authorization. It seems that those managing to receive the product in-tact are happy. Those having to deal with Customer Service, not so much. If you value transparency and a company that will stand behind its products AND operation, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

    We have had our 14 ft XL motorized awning for over a month and love it. We had a small hole in the fabric that the installers noticed. Called in that same day to the warranty department and they sent out a replacement fabric immediately. Wonderful product and it makes a world of difference on the temperature of our composite decking. Can now walk on it with bare feet. And the wind sensor works great to pull in and prevent wind damage.

    I bought the 20' motorized awning and 16' manual awning direct from SunSetter. I had it installed correctly at my expense by their dealer. The 20' awning arm supports metal arms both snapped, metal broke one at the end and the other at the joint the FIRST night it was up. It rained that night - no warnings, no wind gusts over 15mph just rain. When I contacted sunsetter they were not helpful. Won't pay for repair, parts will ship and be there in a week and, "Fix it yourself or pay someone to do it. Read our warranty. We don't pay for repair". I would not recommend this awning to my worst enemy.

    The experience with SunSetter was fine, until I tried to install the LED lights under the awning. The clips were too big and when I called for help, all that was done, was a new bag of the same clips were sent to us. I called back and got no help from SunSetter. I was told no other complaints about the clips had been reported. I am a master electrician and know how to install LED strips. I then called a company in our area, who installs your awnings, in reference to the lights and was told by their installer they were a pain to install. He went on to say all the clips had to be bent in for the LED strip to clip on to. If it were my company, and I got this call, the first thing I would of done is picked up a clip and see for myself if it fit in the back of the strip. That way they would of seen the problem and would of been more help to me and future customer.

    I got SunSetter motorized awning installed through one of the SunSetter authorized dealers in late June 2017. Getting the order done and getting installed went without any issues. The product has also been working fine so far. Experience of working with dealer was also very good for the installation of the product. Want to comment about what SunSetter calls as "authorized dealer". Turns out SunSetter advertised savings are not passed over to customer when ordered through SunSetter "authorized dealer". I got a mail during last weekend (August 5, 2017) from SunSetter indicating free accessories available with the purchase of the awning.

    When the local dealer was contacted, I was told that they don't get the same advertised savings passed over from SunSetter to the dealer. Contacted SunSetter directly and was told they can't provide the advertised free accessories as I didn't purchase directly with SunSetter even though the purchase got done through one of their authorized dealers. So a word of caution as the SunSetter authorized dealer list is misleading when it comes to any advertised SunSetter savings.

    We love our SunSetter Awnings! I manage a four building - 76 unit property and we had awnings put on both of the main apartment buildings over the existing patio.     After ordering our shade (handcrank vinyl) we received a flyer for $300 off which we had to call and ask to take advantage of. The installer had a helper with him and I'm not sure which of them had difficulty getting the bolts in on the one leg attachment on the house siding. One of the leg anchors was not placed in such a way so that the leg would be 90 degree angle from the ground.

    Sunsetter recommended a dealer for ordering and installation. They gave me one option. The Design company was lackluster in their service and the quality of the work (the awning broke the day it was installed and the design company said just live with it, it is under warranty). Then they wanted to charge us for ordering the defective part. Sunsetter then told me I could have installed the awning myself. They offered me a free cleaning kit (which I have not received), a coupon (which the design company would not take). They basically did not show any regard for the poor service they recommended. For the money I spent I was very disappointed and felt Sunsetter should have stood by their recommendation.

    The 3 position manual switch that powers my Sunsetter awning has failed. I contacted Sunsetter technical support to order what I thought was going to be a $10 power switch. I was informed that the awning motor has been discontinued and therefore the power switch for it was also discontinued. I would be required to purchase a new motor with attendant wireless switching for more than $400. The broken switch is a standalone 3 position rocker switch that is housed inside the aluminum, waterproof box that is attached between house current and the motor. The switch itself is a very inexpensive item, or should be. I can't believe that Sunsetter will not support a product that I purchased from them by supplying me with such a small and expensive replacement part.

    I love the awning. I do wish because of the size of the awning I would have been encouraged to get the electric one. The hand crank is easy to open but tiring to close. We will probably end up having to spend more to get the electric installed next year. The cost of the electric was making me hesitate but now that we know how much work it is to close we would have gotten but we do love the awning.

As you mentioned your Manually operated SunSetter Vista Awning can be upgraded to accommodate a motor which will make closing the awning with the click of a button the a breeze. The additional expense in the long run will add to your enjoyment of the awning. Tidbit FYI... the lateral arms under the awning fabric have internal springs that assist in opening the awning.     While extended and no wind blowing the 20 X 11 awning had total failure at the far end of the extending arm. The metal broke and the entire awning crashed down into the side of the house. Luckily no one was under it. The awning took several chunks of stucco off the house and knocked the BBQ grill into the natural gas supply line which thankfully did not break off. I immediately called Tess ** (the rep who sold it to us). I left a message and never did get a return call even after several more attempts by myself.

    I called the 800 number for SunSetter and ended up a sales manager named Brian. He was fantastic. He took care of all my concerns. The guys who installed the awning were also fantastic. They were the first phone call I made and were here within 30 minutes and cleaned it up and made it safe from further collapse. Again it took more than one phone call to get Tess to follow up. She eventually made the arrangements to have the installers remove what was left of the awning and again they did a great job. The repair of the damage done to the stucco has yet to be done but that guy has been out to see the damage and is scheduled to return for the fix.

    We put our XL up a few months ago and we truly have enjoyed it almost every day. It took me two years to talk my husband into it and once it was up he said "why did you wait so long to do this." We wouldn't be without the remote or the wind sensor, they both have been wonderful. The only problem I had was with the dealer. He was very helpful and all, but wanted $500 to install it. He didn't want to do it very bad to ask that much. Anyway it came with a DVD explaining how to do it and some young friends came over and did it for a beer, much better deal.

    I was very pleased with the professional and courteous work from M&R remodeling that installed the awning and would recommend them to anyone desiring installation of your product. I am however not completely satisfied that the awning does NOT provide the coolness and shade of my 12 X 12 deck. You have to sit pretty much back against the wall of the house which the awning is attached to get any shade at all. The rest of the deck is still largely exposed to the hot afternoon sun!!! Also I wasn't planning on buying any additional components seeing how the way your product was advertised you have instant gratification which isn't the case!!!

    I am a private home owner and the box containing the hardware was open and all hardware was missing/except the arms. I called Sun Setter and they were polite and got right on it.     We ordered 2 SunSetter Awnings on 4/14/17. They were delivered on a timely basis and installed quickly. I really enjoy the motorized feature of both awnings because we have gusty winds at times and I can easily adjust the awnings. We have a wall of windows overlooking our patio. They also face to the West. The awning has diminished the sun pouring through the windows and heating up the kitchen/ family room. Our dining room had the same problem with a wall of windows facing the South. The awning has reduced the heat pouring in those windows as well. It also protects our beautiful antique dining room table from bleaching due to sun damage. I'm quite sure the awnings have reduced our utility bill for air conditioning our home.     Very happy with this BIG Awning. We sit high so wind is a factor and the sensor has saved us at least 3 times to date. Size 19 ft X 11 ft, red brick striped facing South.     I had my SunSetter 900XT installed in late May with the screened porch. Prior to the install, I rarely sat out on my deck because the insects were annoying and made it an unpleasant experience. Since the install, I sit out almost every evening and in the mornings on weekends. It provides shade and protection from insects. My pets love it, too! Not as easy as the cd would like you to believe, putting up and down. I have no trees in backyard around my deck. The sun sets in a position that comes under the awning from the side. You have to keep moving chair to keep out of the sun. I will have to plant some trees.

You are correct, unlike our motorized awning that opens with the press of a button the Model 1000 XT awning does require a bit of effort to open and close. The good news is once it's open it can remain open for the season except in extreme weather conditions. The awning does very well in the wind. As long as you follow the proper operating instructions and do not allow water to accumulate on the awning fabric the awning will give you many, many years of enjoyment.     We had an awning installed in 2012. For the last 4 summers so far so good no complaints. However last week we noticed that the awning fabric end that is just above the valance is coming out of the groove. I called SunSetter and reported my issue. I also called my installer and he says he'll come to check things out. Then I took off the end caps (two Phillips screws on each end). I was told there is a cord that is fished through the hem on the fabric end and that holds the fabric end in the groove. Lo and behold there was no cord inside the hem. At the SunSetter factory they just slid this hem into the groove without the cord. This greatly reduces the staying power of the fabric end in the groove with any wind, rain or weight. Now it’s out about 6 inches on one end and an inch on the other. No fabric is ripped or any other problem it’s just not in the groove and looks ugly.

    I called SunSetter just now they told me it was unusual to happen. The evidence appears that at the SunSetter factory the rolled awning was assembled and shipped with no cord and I was the lucky one to get it. Now lets see how honorable they are about THEIR MISTAKE? I paid for and expected ALL THE COMPONENTS FOR MY AWNING! The entire setup is bogus and I was wronged by them but now that I caught their mistake lets see what happens?

    We are do it yourself folks and we purchased a 16 ft XL motorized awning. We should have purchased it 15 years ago. It is absolutely the most marvelous thing we did for the outside of our living area. Because we were do it yourself as there's some things we learned in the process. First of all the instructions that are given for installing the mounting clamps need to be more detailed. We found that they need to be positioned very critically in order to get the awning to go up and fit into the brackets. To solve this problem I purchased a 12 foot length of one and a half by one and a half Square pipe to use as a template and it worked out well.

    Another important point is to understand that the 16 foot motorized awning weighed 130 pounds and it took two young strong men to put it in place. Once in place it was easy to secure and it looked great. One of the important features that I like to point out is the quality of the product, the engineering is superb and the quality of the product is first class. Thank you SunSetter. We also purchased the automatic wind sensor that closes the awning in case the wind were to increase. It works well and it's certainly an important safety feature.

    One thing to note the awning which sticks out from the house about 10 feet has a drop of 29 inches from the point of which it's mounted to the outer edge and that lowers the awning to a point where I hit my head on the support brackets. I raised the outer edge of the awning so that there was only a 12 inch drop and that provided plenty of space for me to walk underneath it and for us to see out into the yard and our property. I was able to make this adjustment using the provided instructions without any major difficulty. Hooray for SunSetter. They are a quality company with good engineering and provide what they say they're going to provide.

The company I use was JODIMOR from Whitehouse Station NJ, high skill with the install and the men were the best.     We ordered an awning through a local dealer at the end of March. It was delivered and installed in mid April. However it was the wrong size. The dealer returned and remeasured and ordered a new awning. This was in early May. As of this date (6/20/2017) neither the dealer OR SunSetter can tell us when the awning will be shipped. The customer service agent does not have any information other than the fact that it is in production. This is very frustrating for all involved. The awning looks good and does a good job of shading out south facing patio BUT it takes a very long time to extend the awning the full length. It took 60 turns of the poll to extend it halfway. Is there something wrong with the gears on our current awning, which will be replace... at some point.

    Read instructions carefully especially for wall mount and use a 1/4 drill bit and be careful not to use the Brick mount which is 3/8 drill bit.     My awning blew off the house within 2 weeks! The wind sensor tried to retract it but it was not fast enough. They did replace the thing but I do not trust it! Every time I've tried to use it a little wind comes up and it starts to flop around and retracts. It is useless! They say that it is engineered to withstand 65 mph winds, it will not stand up to 25 or 30 mph wind. I asked them to just remove it and they told me to call the local dealer who installed it. He wanted $200 to remove it. Customer support is useless!

Experiencing high winds on a daily basis is not the norm, so for most homeowners the awning operates as intended and provides protection from the sun. Our records indicate that the first time your awning was damaged it was left unattended in the rain. We caution against that in your Owner’s Manual. The sensitivity setting on your wireless wind sensor can be set from 0-9 with 9 being the least sensitive. In the factory we set that setting on a 2, so it is very sensitive to wind and will close the awning in lighter winds. We recommend that you adjust that setting one step at a time until you find the setting that is most suitable to your area. Based on the information we have your awning has never failed, and our Customer Service was there for you when your awning was damaged.

    Now that the hot weather is here, I am really glad that I had my Sunsetter installed. I recommend having it professionally installed. I have the 20 ft. model which covers both the sliding doors and picture window. When the awning is extended, the house instantly cools and is much darker inside. The only drawback is, when the strong afternoon breezes kick up the awning starts to dance around. I can retract it halfway and still have plenty of shade and it handles the wind okay.     IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THESE SHADES, PLEASE READ ON!!! I ordered a 6' and 11' through Costco. Installed and they were the envy of the neighborhood. Solar powered, remote controlled. No wiring! I continue to have problems with them. These problems can not be fixed by following the manual. I have been on the phone for hours on three sets of occasions, spending most of that time atop a ladder while the customer service tries to figure out the problem. This ladder is 30 feet in the air while I am plugging and unplugging both shades, having to move the ladder and climb up and down each time. Today I am trying to get help. While I am on the phone atop the ladder my cordless phone battery starts dying. I ask the rep to call me back on my cell. He takes the number and I wait. And wait. Atop the ladder.

    I finally call back, working through the customer service choices and the rep answers the phone and starts asking me questions as if I were a new caller. I asked him if he was going to call me back as I was on the ladder waiting. He said yes. Yet he was picking up new customer service calls. After speaking with his manager about this incident, I now have to wait until tomorrow to get a call from a more experienced tech, climb up the ladder and go through this entire fire drill again. Can't wait! The idea of these shades is awesome. The reality, at least from my experience, has been hell! Who wants to get out and set up a ladder multiple times swinging in the air trying to reprogram their shades once a month??? I sure don't. VERY disappointing product AND customer service!

    We bought 2 12 ft solar shades to cut the sun from warming our home. Thought they were reasonably priced but no one would install them. We called SunSetter they said we were on our own. Called a handyman to install both shades which cost us around $300.00. They are about 20 ft up on a ladder so I didn't mind paying someone to do it. They got the shades up looked great until one worked and the other not a chance. Called Sunsetter they made me get on the ladder 20 ft up switch the power cords and a list of other troubleshooting ideas. After doing that they shipped a new battery. Up the ladder I go again which is not my favorite thing but I did it and behold that doesn't work. So again I call after being hung up someone finally is shipping me a new motor which has no guarantee that it will fix it.

    So the whole shade has to be taken down, which I cannot do myself so again I will be out another couple hundred to hire someone to take down, fix, and put the shade back up. When I brought this problem up to SunSetter they said that wasn't their problem and they just sell them. Well yes one works but the other doesn't which obviously they don't sound too concerned about. So we will wait and see if more money and a new motor works if not they are both going back and I will buy them from someone who will take care of their customer. Never again will I purchase anything from them!

    I ordered replacement fabric for my awning a week ago. I was told I could find shipment information in the "owner's corner". This has never worked.     Got my SunSetter in decent time, but from then on it was a nightmare... still is. No SunSetter installation in my area. Really? I live in Florida!!! Why no installation here? So, I had to hire a crew to put it up. Instructions were easy enough, got it up... 2 holes in the awning. Contacted SunSetter, they said I would have to send it back in order to get a new one. Had to have the crew back to take it off, more expense. Got package from SunSetter, NOT the awning, but a weather cover to put over it. Called SunSetter, let them know they sent the wrong piece, they said they would send the right one with postage to send back the wrong one and send the awning back. Received the right one finally after waiting a very long time. Had the crew back out, more expense. Put the new awning on, and it was good.

    SunSetter had put 5 shipping labels in with the corrected shipment, so I called them to ask which I should use for the 2 packages I needed to send back… was told that I didn't need to send the large awning back. Now mind you, I had to fold this 20-foot awning to fit into this small box, and tape it up to get it ready, and I am disabled. So, I threw it in the trash. Disgusted. Why in the world would they sell a 20-ft awning without an automatic roll out/roll in feature? They boasted about how easy it would be to do manually... NOT. It is a pain each and every time I use it. You would think that after paying well over $2000.00 for a product that you would have a better result. No, I am NOT happy with my purchase at all. And now to top it off, it is already coming off the wall. This was professionally put up on a brick wall. Did I say I was NOT happy?

    Ordering the Sunsetter 15' X 10'2" Awning through the local dealer (Authority Home Solutions) went exactly as planned. Awning arrived as scheduled and I notified the dealer who arranged immediate installation. Two installers arrived and in short order installed the awning and accessories. They had to adjust some to avoid a tree on opening which was acceptable. I removed the tree and now going on 3 weeks for follow up adjustment. I would highly recommend this awning to all my neighbors but somewhat upset with the follow on support.

    My SunSetter is okay. It's not what I thought it would be. A little hard to wind up. I'm not sure if I would recommend it to others. I can't open it if the wind is blowing because it gets to shaking the awning, and the wind gets underneath the awning and lifts it up really bad. I got this awning to help keep the sun out of our family room and to drop the temperature in this room. I hope I get to find out if the awning does the trick.

    I waited 2 years before I bought my awning. I'm not one to drop $3,000 without thinking about it for a while (though I now admit 2 years was a bit long). Anyway, pulled the trigger on the awning and I love it. It blocks the sun perfectly, it operates smoothly with the remote, and it's now possible for me to enjoy the deck I've had for 8 or 9 years but was barely using. I liked the awning so much, I purchased a La-Z-Boy outdoor recliner just so I could enjoy sitting out there even more.     I paid $450 for the alum. hood. I was under the impression it would completely enclosed the awning, it doesn’t, the front is completely open, a waste of $450. The electric cord was to be “inconspicuous”. It isn't, it hangs against the side of the house, it looks like crap. Plus the worker knocked a quarter size hole in the house siding. And I paid $3500 for this. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't buy it.

    Motorized Awning -- No response from Customer Service, via email, notifying product delivered w/o appointment. Packages left in carport, standing on ends that were dented, tubes punctured and torn... Luckily, upon opening all items fine BUT no response from Customer Service on "lack of delivery notice and container conditions." Square Bar Fitting for Hood Attachment not a match for Open End of Square Bar (had to file to fit); some of the DVD installation instructions do not match written instruction (out-of-date) and had to replace a mounting bolt that had improper manufactured threads. AFTER all this and finally mounting product it seems to work fine. Dissatisfied due to lack of pre-delivery date/time notification and follow-up customer service. I have recommended to brother in Sacramento, California not to purchase product because of these issues.

    I have had awning about two years. We paid to have Sunsetter or professionally install it. A few days after the arm caught the fabric and almost ripped it off. They came and adjusted it but it still was hanging low. They came back and adjusted it higher but said I couldn't leave it out all the time because it will continue to sag. I was very unhappy with this because the salesperson said that I could leave it out all the time. I was trying to decide between the awning or building a permanent roof over the porch. I specifically asked the sales person if it could be left out all the time and he said "YES". That was reason the chose this awning.

    I felt like the product was totally misrepresented. I spent over $3000 for this awning and he is not doing what I needed to do which is block the sun during the day all day. Probably due to the fact that I leave it out more than I should it's constantly creaking even with the slot is win and hanging lower and lower. I totally regret not going with the permanent roof over my porch.

The issue with the fabric drooping can easily be corrected by setting the open stop limit so the awning will stop opening before the fabric starts to droop. We’ll be happy to walk you through that process over the phone. We are mailing you a copy of your Owner's Manual in case you misplaced yours. Appendix A in the Owner's Manual outlines the steps necessary to reset the open and closed stop limits. It can all be done using your remote control. You will also find those instructions on the Owner’s Corner of our website.

    We do not recommend leaving the awning open and unattended. Allowing rainwater to collect on the awning fabric would be a problem. The weight of the water could damage the awning, it would stretch the fabric and it could cause personal injury. As long as you don’t allow water to collect on the fabric and you use your Wireless Wind Sensor you should be fine. In the evenings close the awning with a click of a button.

    I'm looking to replace a 16 year old Sun Setter awning. It's still working GREAT but we have redesigned our porch and now have a door on the side that used to be a window and need a model with horizontal supports. The design has changed since 2000 when bought this one, but the solid construction and original laminate material still in good condition. The "old" design took a couple minutes to open and close. It appears the new crank system will be easier. Nevertheless this one has done great and endured many "accidental" exposures to big winds, rain and even occasional snow and held up very well. Well made item :) I'm looking to buy a new 900XT (12 ft model). Arlington Va location btw.

    I am very pleased with my Sunsetter Awning; however, I would think twice about purchasing this product again, solely because I would not want to work with the dealer who installed the product again. In my opinion, he was extremely unprofessional for these reasons: 1) After my awning had been installed, I had to ask the dealer to wash down my deck carpet (it was filthy with dirt and debris caused by them); he was planning on leaving when I requested he do this.

    2) He said he could not find the siding that needed to be replaced with the installation and asked me to pay everything except for $500 and that when the siding was installed, I could pay the remaining $500. He said he would be back in a week or so to finish the job. I had to make several phones calls (5 weeks later, he told me the summer was the busiest time of year for him and he wouldn't be able to get to me for another week or two).

    3) He finally installed the siding in early September. Again, when I came home from work that night, I looked at the siding and it was filthy with dirty handprints (I couldn't even reach it if I tried because I was too high). So again, I asked the dealer to come back and clean the siding. 4) The icing on the cake was after he came back to do this, they had gotten my brand new deck furniture cushions dirty, which I have been unable to clean! I was, and continue to be thoroughly disgusted with the amount of time I had to follow up with this dealer to make sure the awning installation was done professionally and was beyond ticked off that he ruined my deck cushions. Sunsetter is an expensive product. I expect far better service.

    We are pleased with our awning, but our experience with customer support was not that great. Mo ** from "Shades of Cool" in Independence was the sales rep. He really didn't seem to know much about what he was selling and wanted us to pay an additional $350 to have some of his crew come and help with installation. We declined installation, due to the cost, and got everything put together ourselves with the help of some friends. We have had problems getting the LED lights to fit in the brackets that were supplied so still do not have working lights under the awning. At the time of sale, Mr. ** told us he didn't even know you could put the LED lights on an Oasis model, so we have not called him back for help.

    I called customer service and they told me to watch the video on the website, which does not show a clear picture of how to get the light bars into the clamps/brackets. They sent another package of brackets, but they appear to be the same as the ones that came with the awning. Other than our issue with the lights, we do love the awning. If you have anyone else in our geographic area that could assist us in getting the lights installed, we would appreciate it. However, we don't feel we should have to pay several hundred dollars for this service.

    I bought a 10' by 12' Oasis free-standing awning with power operation. I did the assembly myself. Delivery was somewhat slow, but the unit was packed well and assembly was straightforward. I hired a couple day-workers to help and it only took about 45 minutes. I am impressed with the quality of the unit. The awning material is first-rate and the power operation is smooth. I have not used the Oasis much this year, so I have no opinions about its durability, but it looks as if it will last well. One of the end-caps on the awning was missing after assembly and some small damage was done to the corner of the awning material. I do not know if the damage was done during assembly or during shipping. The end-cap is a small part about 2 inches square. At any rate SunSetter supplied a replacement part at no cost. I would rate the Oasis at four-and-a-half stars. And, if it holds well up through next summer, I will recommend it to friends.

    We bought our first awning and installed it on the west side of the house before I had installed our deck. We fell in love with the awning immediately because it did so well in reducing the temperature on the inside of the house. I did become disappointed with the awning because the one I bought was too small (11') and had the laminated fabric. After seven years of enjoying that awning (and finally getting the deck installed), I bought a 14' XL awning with woven acrylic fabric, wireless wind sensor, aluminum hood, and front weather breaker panel. We are very well pleased with the upgrade. The product is extremely well built, giving me no maintenance problems all of time we have owned one.     Rep visits me on 7/22/16. I place an order on 7/22/16. Paid in full on 7-22-16 by check number ** for $1220.00. I told rep I have friends who will install 900xt awning. He told me if anyone other than authorized dealer's contractors installed awning the contract would be void. He tells me the cost would be $600 charge for their people to install. Long story short warranty would not be affected at all whomever installed it. Authorized dealer refuses to give me a refund. He could care less. I am sick of repeating this.

    Came to install back in Sept I had to crawl under the arm to be able to stand on my deck. One of the installers told me the awning was not made to fit the type of deck I have. It looked hideous. The awning was too long and not wide enough. The installers insinuated this is how it's gonna be. They never said "Wait we can make this work." Basically they acted like this is it. They even admitted they would not accept this nor pay over $1000 for the awning. Spoke to auth dealer 2 weeks ago and have called him but no return call, no awning. And he cashed my check a few days after I gave check to rep. I told him I am taking this to court and he said "Go ahead. I don't care."

    Never in my life have I encountered a business like this nor treated like this. My neighbor was interested in purchasing an awning but she told me after seeing what I have been through and seeing the awning installed... SunSetter is the last place she would purchase an awning. Also the infomercial on tv is very misleading. I thought when I contacted SunSetter at the phone number on the infomercial I would have the 90 day no risk guarantee advertised. Wrong. This company has caused me a great amount of stress and anxiety. I already suffer from anxiety and manic depression. Beware is all I can say.

    I am preparing for court. My dealings with this company has physically and mentally made me sick. I am disabled and I receive a set income and am a single mom caring for my 12 year old. SunSetter customer service... waste of time... even an hour long call with a supervisor did not offer help. Another wasted call. Oh and I have spoke with several supervisors at SunSetter.     My unit was an 18 foot awning, motorized and extra length. The installation of the mounting brackets was pretty straightforward. Locating studs was the difficult part. This is a large unit with a weight of about 130 lbs so it should have been a two person installation. I did not have anyone to help so I did it myself. It was difficult but I managed. I also purchased the wind sensor unit which works great so I am pleased with that. Overall, it is a well made unit but it is costly. I looked at others and choose this one because it looked sturdy enough to withstand shore conditions. The material we chose was the heavy woven stripped. With a length this long, it is spliced with heat tape so it will be interesting to see how well these joints hold up in the intense heat of summer.

    I do not like the center tube that the covering wraps up on. It is not perfectly straight so it kind of wobbles when extending and contracting. It rubs on the center guide which I don't like. I am not certain if there is an adjustment that can be made. At the moment it is wrapped for the winter with the cover they sent me as a free gift. The clips supplied for the cover are just plastic and I really don't expect them to last. So after spending over $3100.00 on this unit, time will be the test if it was worth the extra dollars to go with SunSetter. I am hoping it will be.

    We are extremely pleased with our awning. It allows us to spend more time out on our deck. Had a friend help me install and even though it was heavy it was not difficult to install. Took a couple of hours. Took 4 of us to lift it into place because of the weight (it's a large awning). Sales staff were very helpful when I spoke to them over the phone. Only complaint I have is that there wasn't a local dealer in the north Texas area. It turned out that we didn't need the dealer, but it would have been nice to be able to have the option of an installer and to be able to look at actual samples of materials.

However, I am not as happy with the awning cover I also purchased. The contractor keeps telling us that it is because Sunsetter is so backed up and they take a very long time to make the custom product.     The seam where the awning edge was wrapped around a plastic dowel completely failed after just 3 years! The thread disintegrated and I was left with a row of holes and the canvas flapping in the wind. I'm told this was a manufacturer defect but I was responsible for a prorated amount (still hundreds of dollars!). The fabric is $629 if I purchase it and $395 if the dealer does. If this is truly a manufacturer anomaly and not normal wear and tear then why should I pay anything? I already paid $2300.00 for an 11' awning! If it is expected normal wear and tear then I would have stayed clear of this product. SunSetter, you need to stand by your product! Very disappointed and dissatisfied customer.

    Product seems good, customer service ABYSMAL. First, they only sent part of my order (awning but no hood) so I was going to have to pay an installer to come out twice. Then, when I first opened my awning, there were several small holes in the fabric. Ok, I thought, stuff happens and I called to get things resolved. Then the run around started. I was left on hold for over 20 minutes 3 times, disconnected once, and when I called back the 3rd time and got a so-called customer service rep named Nancy and told her how mad I was getting, she hung up on me. I finally got to talk to a caring human and asked for a supervisor. No luck there. They were all busy but she would have one call me back. Their recording says someone will call back in under 3 hours. Apparently they think that means 8 and you better carry your phone everywhere, including the potty and shower, because if you miss their call, you're back in the queue.

    No way can you get right through to a real person. You ALWAYS have to leave a message. I wanted the fabric replaced, which they agreed to do and I wanted them to cover the additional cost I was going to incur (about $100) to have someone come back out and replace the defective fabric. One person said I could "install it myself" - hardly. I'm a single 71 year old woman and it took 2 big 30-year olds to do it the first time. Another said it was my option whether to install it or not - so I should spend $2500 to leave it on my garage floor??? After 5 days of this garbage, I called Costco. I got right through, spent 20 minutes on the phone with their rep, and they took it from there. The hood was shipped (actually they now shipped 3 of them), the fabric was shipped, and Costco covered the costs of the additional install.

    DON'T BUY DIRECTLY THROUGH SUNSETTER. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. Costco offers better pricing and exceptional customer service. The people at Sunsetter kept saying how sorry they were, but that was pure lip service as they would do NOTHING to compensate me for my additional expense. I finally said to stop telling me they were sorry because obviously they didn't care. I'LL NEVER BUY THROUGH THEM AGAIN.

The gentlemen were courteous during the install. However, they left debris from the installation on my deck and they could have wiped down the siding from the dirty hands when they finished.     I love my replacement awning but when the sales man came to measure for a new awning I was not told of possible complications in installation of the new item. The installers had to unbolt the old awning and could not use the exact place for the new brackets, leaving two uncovered areas on the rear of my home. The installer made an appointment to return and with an additional fee, replace the siding, which I purchased to match my house. He cancelled and I cannot get in touch with a live person at LI Awnings to reschedule. I get an answering machine and no return calls. At this point I cannot recommend the installers and if one can put up the awning themselves would encourage anyone to buy the product. This experience sours me on ever purchasing from Sunsetter again and strongly recommend you drop LI Awnings from your dealer list.

    Wife and I both love it, was very easy to install. Installed on our outside porch which we just re-decked and put in an outside kitchen.     I ordered two 5' Easy Shades and one 10' Easy Shade. The 10' Easy Shade was missing one mounting bracket - was surprised that the company said it would take 7-10 business days to get one. Quick mailing, like Amazon Prime, would have been greatly appreciated. The shade cloth, on one of the 5' shades, was attached crooked at the top of the roller - which resulted in an uneven roll up or down. Customer service did direct me to directions on how to take it all apart and re-roll it - which took about an hour.

    One of the BEST parts of these shades is the Somfy myLink network option (optional purchase) which allows you to control your shades with iPhone or Android from anywhere, and the myLink system allows you to set a schedule for auto up/down. Controlling shades via iPhone seems to extend the range of the 'remote' and works better than the included Somfy Telis 4 RTS remote. Would have given a 5 if it weren't for the missing part, slow shipping of the part and the manufacturer's non-plumb assembly of one of the shades.

    If you're using an installer and you're getting a Winter cover, be sure to go to the SunSetter site and read up on the space requirements. My installer did not allow enough room for me to properly install the cover using the recommended procedure and I will need to jury rig something to hold the cover on.

    I purchases my SunSetter Awnings with confidence as I checked reviews and the BBB ratings. I paid in full which was probably my first mistake. I had to continually call within the time slot I was given to check and see when it would be installed. Within 3 weeks of installation the awning is leaning to the left which I called about the first week in Aug. and was told it was probably an adjustment. No one has contacted me to fix the tilt as of 8/22/16. Now I see there is a frayed area of the flap on the awning. Very disappointed with service and quality.

    I bought an awning from SunSetter dealer, GOLDEN NEEDLE AWNING, MI, with an installation included in the price. When the professional installers from the dealer came for installation and tried to install it, they mentioned that the floor extension (first floor for hanging the awning) and wall (hollow bricks) was not good enough and was not safe to install the awning.

    I requested a refund because I can't let my family and friends sit under the awning knowing it is unsafe. However, the dealer is not returning my money back, mentioning that after three days of contract they don't refund. He is claiming that his installers don't know how to install, but he can still install the awning. He just wants to dump his product on me and get easy money. When I called SunSetter, they said they are not responsible for dealer purchase. My question is why do you advertise their name if you are not responsible. If someone gets injured your good product will get notoriety. How can I get my hard earned money back and blacklist this dealer? Thank you.

    We like our awning, and have enjoyed it. However, it doesn't extend quite as easy as your video suggests. The angle of the crank handle has to be just right...and it is easier at different levels. I'm approaching 79, am in good shape, and can extend the awning without much effort. My wife could never do it. Also you indicated a lubricant came with it, but don't seem to have it. Can you resend it? Thanks.

    When I purchased the awning, I didn't take into account that my house faces the south. Sun all day and the awning only gives some shade for about an hour. I have tried to get a refund, but they say that is impossible because I didn't order direct from the factory. All the literature directs you to call the local distributor. Your advertising is misleading and a deceptive practice at best. I am very unhappy and would like to get a refund. I am thinking about contacting our local tv station that handles consumer complaints and tell them my story and they will do a buyer beware segment. That's how unhappy I am. Tess ** was the local distributor for Las Vegas and she just refuses to take me seriously. I can't find my order # at this time. I would not recommend your product.

    Operational adjustments had to be made two weeks after installation. Within the first month the fabric color is coming off the center seam and the arms don't open or retract the same. One arm closes too tight/hard and hits the mounting bolt and bracket with the light bar. The other arm didn't close completely but has been adjusted. My local dealer has evaluated the problem and has ordered a replacement awning. I'll await its arrival and installation before making any final review.

    I hired a friend to install. He is in construction so I knew he would do a good job. What I am upset about is when I called in, it was apparent I was not knowledgeable in these things. I have a rancher and the salesman should have been very clear that the awning would sit low when opened. We couldn't even stand when opened so my friend kept working on it until it is manageable. Your video is deceptive also regarding one floor homes. Other than that it is wonderful to have shade on the deck.

    The selection process was easy, and it arrived as scheduled. Not as easy to install per the instructions. We had to hire someone for installation. Since we face the west in the evening, it does not provide the shade that we thought it would provide. We get direct sun under the awning. They should come a shade or something that you can adjust as the sun is setting. I checked your website and I feel what you offer is too pricey. Not able to use it as much as we thought we would due to the evening sunset. :(
