We have this big deck and we were not using it until the afternoon when the sun goes over the roof. Shade is so important so we decided to buy an awning. It was for our own personal pleasure and to be more social. We also bought a grill and we plan to have some parties there. When people are hot in the sun, they can go under the awning. We saw SunSetter Awnings on TV and we knew they were reliable and they'd do a good job. We heard testimonies on those commercials from people who had it plus, we asked around town and the one who had one was pleased with it. So, we went with them and we had a very good experience.
Their team instructed us well and we had a very pleasant interaction with them. They did a good job. They put the awning in last summer but we didn’t have a chance to use it because the weather turned cold and we were not using the deck. But it works fine. We got the electric thing and it rolls out itself. We also have a manual in case that motor doesn’t work. I bought the awning as is and I like its color and design. It should be very useful and would allow us to use the deck for the first half of the day before three o'clock in the afternoon when the sun hasn't gone down over the roof. We have a table and six chairs around it and my fiance is looking forward to sitting under the shade and reading in the sun chair.

SunSetter Awnings is where to go. We like to sit outside and it was too hot for us because there was no shade. We went to SunSetter, looked at the awnings, and decided that we wanted the retractable kind so that we didn’t have to work as we’re getting up in age. The SunSetter team came, had it up, and explained how to work it. It was real good and we’re very satisfied with them. We've had the awning since September last year and we like it real well. We just have to push the button and it goes out and the lights would come down and support it.

I love our awning from SunSetter. I've had it for eight years now and it's holding up great. It’s very durable as well. I've had too much sun on the back of the house, and since I've had the awning, it made the inside of the house a little cooler on that side and I can sit out there in the middle of the afternoon and all summer long because it’s in the shade. I have the one with the remote, so I just hang it up and plug it in. We keep it retracted unless we’re going to be out there. Everybody from SunSetter was also great including their rep and the installers. I’m happy with SunSetter Awnings and I would recommend them. I also went back to them and bought one for my daughter's house.

When the sun goes down, it goes across the whole back of the house and it beats down on the bedroom. We thought it would be a good idea to get an awning there for the day and then be able to put it away at night. The color of the motorized awning we got is very light and it goes with the house. I didn’t want it standing out like a barbershop. The size is about eight feet out and 12 feet across. The installers were very friendly. Experience means a lot and they seemed to know what they were doing. The father was the start of it and he was also with the boys who were installing. They did a good job. It was nice, neat and clean, and everything worked out great. They also left me instructions and I can call anytime if I have a question or problem. I would recommend SunSetter. They seem to have a better product. I had looked at the others and I wasn’t overly impressed.

We had used some sails and they had worn out. We decided to get a little more features and went to SunSetter. And we had good experiences all the way with them. Their rep was on time when he said he would be. His installers were on time, too, and did their job properly, and went on their way but they cleaned up after themselves. We have a regular motorized awning and then we also got a portable one. We spend quite a bit of time on the lanai. I spend a lot of time out there reading and my son does also. And we're getting good use out of it. I would recommend SunSetter.

It was very easy with Sunsetter and I recommend them to anyone. We were trying to decide whether to put a roof over the sliding glass doors on the outside or whether to use an awning. And the decision was made to do an awning because I like to have light come in when it’s not being used. I had known other people that have gotten from Sunsetter and they have had great look with them. And I wanted something that I knew would be guaranteed and had good quality. My husband was with the install team and everything went very well. We plan on using the awning in the summer when we wish to sit outside and enjoy being outside and to have something in case it rains.

My wife wanted to purchase an awning. We got our motorized awning from SunSetter late in the summer and we only used it about twice, but we’re satisfied with it. We have the setting sun on the back of our house and that’s where we put it to keep the hot sun from coming in the family room. The person from SunSetter who came out to measure was very intelligent on his job and he knew what he was doing. The installation was very good, too.

I've owned a SunSetter at my summer place in Wautoma, a free-standing one. And when I decided that I needed some shade on my deck here in Appleton, I thought I wanted to check out the SunSetter again to see if it could be installed in my home. I dealt with Stella in New Berlin, for the Wautoma. And then this time, I dealt with a guy and he was nice and very dedicated. He told me what to expect and he came doing it. I chose the color taupe and it extends 10 feet out and 16 wide. It's got a remote and a wind sensor. All which work perfectly and I love it. Now, I'm looking forward to every day, counting away the hours that I can get back on my deck.

Go for SunSetter Awnings. It’s worth it. I have an old awning by SunSetter and I replaced it with an electric one. The SunSetter team made an appointment, showed up on time, did a good job on the installation, cleaned up, then left. The awning is motorized so it goes out when I push the button and comes in when I push the button again, which I like. I put it out when the sun is too hot. It’s in red stripes and there are figures in the gap.

We've been thinking about purchasing an awning for a while. We've seen SunSetter Awnings for so many years and when we decided to make the move, we went with them. The guy who installed it was the husband of the woman who sold it to us and he didn't give us an option on the mounting. He wanted to put it on the roof and that was the only way he did it. It came out okay but it was a bit more expensive than had we mounted it up on the side of the house. Other than that, the awning is a quality product and you get what you pay for.

The sun in the afternoon got too hot and we had an umbrella but it wasn’t big enough, so we decided to go with an awning. My buddy had one from SunSetter Awnings years ago and he gave me their phone number. I had a great experience with their salesperson. Also, we were happy with the installation. The guys who came out were really nice and polite. Although it was raining and they waited outside a couple of hours to put up the awning, they were able to do the installation on schedule. They did a really good job and they also showed us how to work everything. We got an awning that goes up to 12 feet with a remote switch. In the late afternoon, we go outside without the sunshine on us all the time. And it just helps when we got family over because we do not have to keep running around the table to get out of the sun. We're happy with it.

We tried umbrellas and it just didn’t have enough shade for us. We kept dodging them and moving the umbrella and so forth. We decided we needed a little more protection. SunSetter Awnings had a big advertising program and I have almost decided a few years ago to put one up and I just put it off but I've been getting some literature from them and their booklet and so forth, and they seem to have a good reputation so I went with them although they’re slightly more expensive than one other one I'm thinking of. When I really got down to it, I talked to the professional that put it up. He came by to look the situation over and we decided on what size we wanted and he actually was the one that made the order. I had a professional in to install the awnings and it works fine. We live in Port Angeles and the guy was from down the road about 40 miles.
It’s everything we expected of it. The only thing that I was a little bit surprised about was the height to get to it. Ours was a 10 footer and I'm 5’10” and I get under it okay but the arms might make you duck a little bit. But that’s no big deal.

I had my house lifted and I had a back deck but I didn't want an umbrella. I'm disabled and in a wheelchair, so an awning would be a really convenient thing to keep the morning sun out. It's for protection too. My friend in Shark River Hills got an awning from SunSetter and he was the one who told me the name of the woman who sold the product to me. He had a good discount coupon too.
The woman was on vacation, which surprised me that there wasn't somebody but it didn't matter. She was great. The installers were in and out. They explained it to me and did a good job. I got a motorized awning with the automatic thing. It has a three-button switch. But I didn't get the aluminum cover because I plan on using it even in the off season when there's a light rain. It also helps keep things dry for my dogs when they're going out, then going down the stairs on the side to use the bathroom. I also have an electric lift in the back now that I'm raised up. I made the awning wide enough that it covers the lift, so if there's light rain, I can leave it over that and I'm still dry going down to my garage. I'm also thinking of getting another one for the front of my house. Because I have these big picture windows across the whole front of my house and it gets really hot.

When I got a new deck, I stayed with it for a week or two. Before it got so hot, I could walk with no shoes. But it was burning hot in the summer and my poor dog's feet must have been burning. Then I said that it was too hot on my deck and if I was going to use it, I might as well get the right shade. So, I got an awning from SunSetter and I didn’t even price around to get the best deal. The rep was very nice and helpful. He said everything about the awning and he gave us all the information that we needed. The delivery was good and the installation was no problem. The installers finished off in no time and they checked the awning out.
Since we put the awning up, I've only had a couple of months to try it and live with it, but I love it and I can’t see not being without it. There was no care to it since it wasn't the one made of wood. Also, we went with the motorized one since we didn’t want to crank anything and I’m more than happy that I got the automatic opening for my awning. It was a pleasure in the summer. Sometimes, I had company that came and they enjoyed it. But now, because of the weather, I didn't go out and open it up yet, so I’m hoping that there would be no problems with it during the winter. To make sure, I also bought the cover for it. So, we’re all set and ready for the new season if it ever stops snowing here.
But I wish the awning came in a couple more colors. Although I’m more than happy with the color of the awning I got as it goes with everything, I was looking for a teal color. Plus, I wanted the screened-in awning, but they said that one could give us some problems. They were truthful about that and I’m always more than happy with the truth, so I didn’t get the screened-in one. But if they ever come up with some way to screen it in that’s not too much trouble, that would be lovely and I'd love that, and I'd be even more happy because there are too many mosquitoes and bugs outside at night, so we have to go in at a certain hour and come back later outside.
In addition, someone was saying that people have to be careful with the awning. A woman didn’t close her awning at night and the whole thing was all trussed up due to the wind, and it cost her $2,000 to fix it. So, as soon as it starts getting too windy, I close my awning right away because I can see it moving in the wind. Nevertheless, I've had a very good experience with SunSetter Awnings and I’m more than satisfied with the awning that I got from them.

The sunshine was awfully hot on the side, so we bought a striped brown and light brown awning from SunSetter. We chose the mechanical push button awning that goes up, but it often comes back down, and the wind sensor. Their sales team was very nice. They explained everything, were very prompt, and got everything up as promised. The installers came out when they said they were, and got it put in. It did not take too much time. So, that was fine. Since we have put it in the fall when the sun was mostly gone, we have not used it that much -- we will notice changes more this year with the summer coming up. Nevertheless, our experience with them was great.

To have shade on our patio, SunSetter Awnings came and installed an outside awning. The salesperson we dealt with was very good and we got the motorized, extended one. Then the installers came out, figured out where it should go and had the whole thing up in about 2 hours, which was really quick. They did a fine job. We did it towards the end of the season, but it's worked fine. We only used it maybe half dozen times. It’s nice and it provides shade in the back. Our patio is always in the sun until late afternoon so, we can go out in the morning and so on and not get sun.

I have a home in Florida that I needed shade on one part. There were two SunSetter reps who came out and they were great. One did the installation while the other one talked to me, and they were fine. Everything was here and the guy brought out his tools, screwed the awning on the wall and attached it. They weren't here half an hour. I got an eight-foot motorized awning that has red stripes. Usually, I click it on around noon time and then click it off when I close up the place for the evening. I got a SunSetter awning 6 years ago and I knew how it worked. So, I knew what I was getting and I am quite happy with what I got. I also tell others how satisfied I am with it.

I have a big deck and I needed some covering from the summertime sun or the rain. A friend of mine had one from SunSetter Awnings and he was very satisfied and happy with what he had, so that little bit of knowledge from him helped me and I went with SunSetter. I got a couple of prices of awnings that were the same amount, within a few dollars of one another. The rep treated me very well. He’s a salesman, so he would treat everybody well in trying to make a sale. I just let the installers go and didn’t interfere at all with them, and they spent four hours putting the awning up and getting it ready, and then they showed me the remote control and how the awning worked.
The awning was put in last August, so I've had it for nine months. I got to use it last summer, from August to September, and a little bit in October. Then, the winter came and I put it away, and it has been away since then. But everything worked fine when I was using it. Also, there were no extra charges and I never got billed for anything more than what they told me about. A lot of times, when people get something, the company will say that they ran into trouble so they've got to get another $50 or $100. But that never happened with SunSetter, so I was happy about that. Everything went very well with the service and I would recommend SunSetter Awnings.

I've seen other people that have a SunSetter awning so I wanted it. I loved it because the place right here in North Andover sold them so I didn't have to go through the mail. I could see the fabric right on hand. I'm old and I had the awning motorized. I have it right off of my deck of my kitchen and I've had it open three times. It made my kitchen a lot cooler and added to the comfort. But I might have gone a little bit bigger and it would have been better. The other one would've been better for the rain, but who the hell is going to sit out in the rain when it comes right down to it. It's a little bit off-center but it's not their fault. The man would've changed it right and then that day but I didn't want to put more screws into my vinyl siding. But it is off-center. I will call them and I'm sure that they will come. Nonetheless, I'm happy.

I bought a new house and I was shading a deck. SunSetter had motorized, remote controlled awnings and they had waterproof material which I wanted. Also, they worked through Costco and because of that, I was able to get a good price. However, the person who came out measured beyond the limits of what the installers were able to actually install. He measured it so that the awning would go all the way out to the end of the house without taking into consideration the installation. I just wanted it to go out past the railing. Instead, it goes out an additional three feet. Also, they have a crew coming back to put an endplate on the hood because it's about 50 feet off the ground and they could not reach it from the deck.
Nevertheless, for as long as SunSetter's installers are able to put the end piece on, I'm happy. I'll be using the awning more in the summertime. When the sun is more overhead, it will protect that area that I want. I've been impressed with how SunSetter has been proactive in contacting me to tell me that they are going to resolve the issue. I'm very happy with that and I recommend them.

I am a maintenance person who has worked with Sisters of Mercy. They said that I had put an awning up four years ago in one of the houses in the convent. And then one of the other houses requested it. So I checked around and the original awning company that I got the awning from is no longer in business so I tried SunSetter. SunSetter did a good job. We had to put an awning in the house, and everybody is really happy. However, I'm a little bit frustrated with their sales team. They wanted to hold back information which I did not like. I said, “Is there someplace I can look at it?” “No. We’ll send you up there for that.” And I said, “Well, how much would it be?” “No. We’re going to have someone come out.” Because I had to get an estimate, I said, “Can you give me somewhere a ballpark that I can hand in or an estimate, because I have a budget?” And they said, “Well, no.”
Finally, when I have already given up on them, one of the people say, “Well, it’ll run for about $3,200. You’ll have a good installation.” So I said, “Okay. So in that way, I can put it into my budget.” They sent out a pack, and that was fine but if you have a budget and you are in a time crunch, you need a little more information quicker. But other than that, after that, it was fine. I got a stripe 10x14 motorized awning, and they put it in quickly. The awning works well in summer because it is on the west side of the house that gets a lot of sun. But during the winter, sometimes it gets pretty cool, foggy and wet in Sacramento so they don't go out, so they keep it in most of the time during the winter. I would tell my friends about them definitely.

I bought the house about 13 years ago and it had a previous awning from SunSetter Awnings, which was dilapidated over time as well as had one of the folding arms broken. So, I called the company in San Antonio and they came out and made some recommendations. The salesperson was very helpful and wasn’t pushy, but he pointed out some deficiencies. I wound up buying a complete new awning and motor, and I was essentially pleased with the awning itself. I had the same model and size put in, but with a different pattern that I’m very pleased with. Installation was good and it went fast. The installers were very competent. The awning was put up in late autumn and I really haven’t had occasionally use it yet but I’m very pleased with the service I received and also with the quality of the awning. Before we moved here, I had two retractable awnings on our patio and on our deck in the house we had up in near Mansfield. They were put there by a company that sold them and they were more elaborate than sun setter because they went into a housing when they retracted and it protected them. But we enjoyed them. And when we came down here and have this deck, the first thing we want to do is have some kind of a retractable awning on it. We saw ads for SunSetter and we liked what we saw and we liked the price. So, we had them come out and measure and tell them what I would take. The installation went well. We were gonna put a roof over our deck but the issue with that is when you change the roof line or whenever you add anything to a structure, you get into the permitting process and the inspection process. You’ve got to meet code requirements regardless of wherever you live. In Oklahoma, it gets hotter than hell here in the summertime and we needed something to keep the sun and the heat off the deck for our grandchildren to play on. They’re very young. If they fall and bump their heads, wood is a lot more forgiving than concrete in a garage so we went for an awning instead. Also, a roof was going to cost more money aside from the permitting and the structural issues especially if it’s a habitable space.
A guy who was the rep of the distributor/retailer here in the State of South Carolina for SunSetter Awnings came out and we looked at the product and we bought it. He was a nice guy. The experience went great and they put in our awning after Labor Day, in September. It’s a nice awning and it’s exactly as described. The process was flawless. With the SunSetter, it had been easy-peasy. They attached it to the side of the house and there was no permit needed since I didn't change anything on the house. And if we ever go back with a different siding, it's going to be very easy to take it off and put on. I watched them put it up and I’m familiar with how it goes up. It’s something that I could take down probably in 10 minutes and put up in 20.
Evidently, the company has a pretty good reputation. I’ve never heard anything bad about it. I had a cousin and her husband down to visit with us over the weekend, and she asked me almost immediately if it was a SunSetter. She said those were fantastic and that they had one when they lived in Boston. They relocated to Charlotte and they're going to be putting one there too.
Another thing that was nice about SunSetter was the good customer service. They walked us through the whole process. I could have saved significant money by buying one at a local hardware, like a Lowe’s or a Home Depot, but I looked at SunSetter's, the warranty and what people had to say about them. The awning was not that hard to get up. Also, the owner called me twice which was something that he didn’t have to do but that mattered to me as a consumer. All they had to offer a consumer was customer service. He asked me how everything went and even the place where we got it. I appreciated the fact that he took enough interest and it wasn’t a big deal. It was a $4,200 purchase which was not a lot in the scheme of things. If I couldn't get them from a local distributorship or retailer, I could buy it on Amazon or somewhere else.
But I tried to use the awning the other day and I couldn’t get the remote to work. That was maybe due to a loss of signal. I haven't had a chance to call the local dealer to get instructions on how to reset it though. It’s just a little remote clicker and they might need to reprogram it. But the times that we used the awning, it operated flawlessly, exactly like it was supposed to, and we were very pleased with it. I trust that it’ll be operational for quite a long time.

We bought a place in the Reno area and it happened to be a particularly bright, sunny region. We'd look out and I'll see the way the sun comes in late in the afternoon. It just beats down on our place. We called SunSetter, and the person we talked to put us in touch with Shane. He came out, measured, quoted and then installed them about three weeks later because the fabric, pieces, and parts have to be manufactured offsite -- they were custom-tailored. Still, everything was done a few days earlier than the expected timeframe. The installation was done in two or three hours. We got the biggest model they have, and it is all automatic. It there is any wind, it would track it. We got the push button deploy and retract feature. They are nice awnings.
We have used it for the sun protection feature to cool down our backyard. It definitely reduces the amount of heat. Where we live, it can get 95 in the summer. The sun comes into the backyard. We have two sets of big awnings, so we can cover a big area. That way it keeps the backyard a lot cooler. Otherwise, it is oppressively hot when you go out there. We live in a high desert, but it is still good. Go for it.

We wanted something to shade the windows on the sunroom at the back of the house and we got the top-of-the-line model from SunSetter Awnings. It's got the wind sensor to it and it's 20 by 12 with beige and white stripes. It’s motorized with the manual override and it has a light stuff under it. My experience with the salesman was good. I had to call him back one time and make an adjustment, and it was done easily.
For the installation, the owner of the franchise around here came out but the window was a little bit taller than the ladder they had. Also, there were only two of them and they needed more than two people to put the awning up because of the length. So they had to reschedule and come back the next week to put it in. Other than that, it went smoothly. But after I put the awning on, I went to a home show and there was an awning that was a little bit cheaper. The rep there said theirs is the best one too but maybe they are different. Still, I've recommended SunSetter to a friend.

The people that installed our awning were not local people. SunSetter led me to believe that they would be. But they came all the way out of Warner Robins. And I had a little problem that I had to fix myself because I couldn’t get them to come. The problem was that the awning would automatically come back in by itself without the wind blowing. That was after about a month after they installed it. But I was able to fix it myself. I talked to the corporate people and they kind of gave me the runaround. I will not buy another one from them.

We wanted to have more space outside covered and when SunSetter came up when I googled, we got them to install the biggest awning that would fit the area. Their salesman was very helpful and we had a very positive interaction. The installation experience was very positive as well. The awning is motorized, attaches to the house, retractable, and in navy and white stripes. Now, our outdoor activities have improved a lot and we watch TV out there. And I've also referred SunSetter to a friend.

The sun hit the back of the house and it always gets hot here. We decided to get awnings and the girl down the street had SunSetter's. She referred us and we also saw it a couple of times, so we went with them. Their rep was awesome. If I knew people that were going to buy, I would send them to this guy. He was the nicest guy and whenever we sat here with him, he was honest. He was always there and told us that if we had any questions, we could give him a call. My sister called them one time because this thing was supposed to program up and down and it lost its memory because one of the kids took the battery out. And their rep stopped by and fixed it.
We got two awnings and they are motorized. We looked at swatches for the fabric and had them customized. We put them out to block the sun and to keep the heat out of the kitchen. One of them goes over a little deck where our grandkids go out and the other is upstairs. All in all, our experience went well and we're happy with the products.

We purchased a new house and wanted to have an awning. It seemed to fit well for the place we have. I did a quick search online, looked for who my local person is, and then SunSetter Awnings came up. I had an all good experience with their team. They showed up, installed the awning in a couple of hours, gave us a tutorial and we were good to go. I got a 16-foot motorized awning in dark color with gold stripes. We use it to keep some of the sun off the house in the summertime and then basically for shade to hide in a good day. We’re good fans of SunSetter Awnings. Go for it if you can afford it.

I got a motorized awning that has a wind sensor and two arms. Their team was always on time. They put it up like they said they would and showed me how to work it. Fortunately, I already had one so I knew everything, they asked me how I wanted it adjusted and I was able to tell them and it was really easy. They told me that they would have a couple of guys come out first thing in the morning. They called before they got here, they showed up, they got it done and they were out of my hair in a few minutes.
My only complaint is I was under the impression that the cord would be more hidden and it’s very evident. And in order to have that done differently it would cost me quite a bit of money. It was in October that I got it installed and it’s summer and it would draw up and it’s not going to do that, it's just too long. But it is what it is. I’m south facing and so in the mornings the sun will come through into my kitchen bump my door from where I’m sitting, so I’ll move it out to protect me from just sitting in the kitchen. And then the nicer days I put it out because later in the day it comes directly into the house and I can sit in the shade. Overall, I had a good experience. In fact my neighbor is getting one. They came over, looked at it, and it was what they wanted.

The sun beat me in the head so I wanted to get some shade. My in-laws had used SunSetter Awnings so I used them too and purchased a motorized model. It's color brown and the installation went great. One thing I didn't like about it though was the whole back of the house is brown, and everything underneath the shade is white. It looks funny. So I'm not sure if they only sell their products in white on the bottom side, or if there was an option for brown, the salesman should've contacted me.

I got tired of not being able to use my porch because the weather is too hot or it was never a good time to use it. My brother got an awning 15 years ago and I just noticed one day when I was at his house that he always uses it. I asked him where he got it and checked into it. Plus, I saw the commercial. The team at SunSetter was super friendly and installed it. I have a beige-striped automated one and I got the wind sensor. I was asking about the warranty and the guy said, “The only thing you really have to worry about is not to get snow or ice on it ‘cause that can tear them up.” I came back from Florida this year in December to the snowstorm, looked down the porch, and saw the snow on top of it. I remembered that, so I got out there, got it out and closed it because I leave it partially open to keep the porch clean, which is awesome. I got it at the end of the winter towards the end of the year and I’m looking forward to using it.

We needed a shade. And we were planning on buying an awning and Costco had a sale and was offering a really nice price on Sunsetter compared to the other manufacturers. The team who came to set our awning up was awesome and accommodating. They tested the wind sensor. And then when they changed the wind sensors to a different area at one point it was more protective from the wind than the other, so I thought that the awning wasn’t closing. So, they repositioned it. And then they were able to come up with a way to link it on the other arm. They went beyond. They made it a point to come up with solutions to make it fit our house.
We use it all the time and the only problem is that it gets very windy sometimes, so it looks like it’s really moving. We have the larger size that SunSetter makes. And sometimes it’s very scary with how much it moves. So, we end up closing it. So far, we’re happy with the purchase, and I'd tell others to get SunSetter awnings, too.

I needed an awning when the rainy weather is here to able to cover over a certain area. SunSetter Awnings popped up during my search so I called them and they were ready to work with me. The purchasing part wasn’t a big deal but I'm not really fully satisfied with the installation because there are still some items missing such as the crank and the wind gear that I paid in full but I still did not receive. Also, the installers left without saying anything about the missing items. It's been about almost two months since it's been installed.
I told the installer that I was about to do a credit card chargeback on the labor portion and I got a callback. The guy said, “Sorry, my brother was with cancer.” I said that was fine but I texted him three weeks ago since he said he would be out here and get it done but it still wasn't. I felt bad about his brother but he should at least be respectful to call back or text back and tell me that his brother was going through a family problem and he couldn't make it out here. That would be understandable. I have a problem when they don't call me back and ignore my calls.
Other than that, everything is fine. We use the awning pretty much every day. It's at a hotel and even when it's windy or too sunny, we put it out. My friend is getting his patio done and he is planning on getting a SunSetter. I gave him the number. But I will definitely tell him to think twice. The product is fine if you get it all in the time that they said you're going to receive it. When a company sells something and they want payment, they should deliver the product at the same time which is great and they should do a followup call.

SunSetter was in the medium range and so I went with them. We got the motorized one. Their rep came out and set up a date for installation and it went without a hitch. When I called, they called back. I was very happy with them. I got it in the late Fall so we haven't really had a chance to test it out too much because, in Ohio, we're here in the winter weather. My husband called a young man and he wanted to come down the next day. He sat with us and gave us an opportunity where we could choose what we wanted. I was even able to make a copy and send it to my daughters just to get their suggestion and recommendation. It was a great experience.
We got a motorized awning and I was a little bit skeptical when the rep told me it was not to go all the way out. We have a fairly large deck. But he was able to recommend something that filled that space where we really wouldn't need a cover over it. I just love it. I'm taking into consideration of moving my grill there or maybe putting my flower pots in that area. My husband was there through the whole installation process. They installed it in a fairly timely manner and when I got home and looked at it, it was a definitely professional job.
Whenever we have to go on the deck and pull out the awning or push the button, we really enjoy it. When my girls come in, they may sit out on the deck and use it. Just listening to them, they love it. We use our deck a lot and this year, we will definitely start using our awning. We have had people that have visited us who want to know where we got it from. SunSetter would definitely be my first recommendation. The foremost important thing to me was the good customer service. Their rep took the time to sit down to talk to us and he didn’t rush us. Everything was fine with the reps. They shipped our purchase when it was supposed to come.
We made the measurements properly ourselves and that was pretty cut-and-dry and no big deal. We just had to get the awning over some sliding doors and it didn’t have to match anything. I just needed help in putting it up because it's quite heavy and weighs 150 pounds. My son also has an awning and he helped me with the installation, which was definitely a two-man job. We needed shade in our backyard. I looked online at a bunch of things and SunSetter seemed like it was the best company for us. I liked the automatic bringing in and out. And it also seemed like they’ve been around for a while. So I requested something online and someone called me. I was very impressed because I got a response very quickly.
We had two people come out. The first time, we just did two sections that are downstairs, our side yard and our backyard. And I really wanted to do an awning upstairs on our balcony, but I was afraid that it was going to be really showy. So the rep came out and I explained it to him what we wanted. He said we can do one very nicely. He gave the number of the guy who installs them. So we ordered. The rep had us leave it at the warehouse so that we didn't have to store it and hold it by our house. The installer picked it up for us and brought it to the house.
The installer was here for half the morning with his assistant, super kind and nice. They did it all and showed us how everything works. He set all the buttons for us. And then I said, “Can you look at the upstairs?” He showed me exactly what it was going to look like, drew it out really quickly, how far it would stick out. He said, “Call your guy back and then get it all set up and we’ll do exactly the same thing.” I said, “Perfect.”
And so, this time, the pieces came to my house. And it was fine. The installer said, “The minute you get it, call me. I’ll do my best to get over here quickly ‘cause you don’t want that in your driveway for forever.” Sure enough, he did it. The second time around was even easier ‘cause I knew what was going to happen. He was in and out and that’s it, done. They had to go upstairs in our house so they had covered their shoes when they walked inside. Just really very professional. They honestly did a great job.

My husband went to a local restaurant and they had an awning over the bar area of the outdoor portion of the restaurant. He saw it without an umbrella and just having the awning at the bar. He came home and he mentioned it to me. We had an umbrella in the portion of our yard and the cross breeze tend to knock the umbrella over and break it.
We were thinking of buying another umbrella but we weren’t sure 'cause it will probably break like the one we had before. So, he said, "Why don’t we try putting an awning up like I saw at this bar?" I remembered seeing the ads on television for SunSetter. I went online and I had difficulty with the website in terms of trying to connect with a local dealer. I had tried to fill it out and send it in but it didn’t seem like it was working and I gave up on it.
And then finally, someone called me from a local dealer because evidently, my information had gone through, even though I didn’t get an acknowledgment from the website. The man came over and he seemed very nice. When the men came to put the awning up there was some difficulty in trying to get it up in the location where we wanted it. They really worked hard and were here much longer than I thought they were going to be. They got it up and we haven't had any problems with it.
We got our SunSetter Awning during the summer. We put it up just to block the sun in a section of the yard. After we got it up, we decided rather than just having a table in that area that we went out and we bought an outdoor bar to put there. And I probably should have gotten a bigger awning now because it needs to cover more space.
The awning was more expensive than I thought it was going to be but for such a small size but we didn’t compare prices to other companies so I have no idea how awnings cost. Especially because I had planned to buy an umbrella which is a totally different. You pay $200 for an umbrella versus around $2,000 for an awning. It's a big difference and I hadn’t really been in the market to spend that much money for such a small awning. We wanted to put more of them up around the house but when I saw how much it cost, I decided we're not going to buy anymore. We'll just buy some window shades but it was a nice experience and we're anticipating getting a good use out of it.
One problem is that my husband forgot to put the awning down before the winter started. And ice got on the top of the awning and we weren’t able to put it down because he couldn't get the ice down. So, we left it there and then when it melted, he put it down. I'm hoping that when we put it back up again in a month or two, that it will work. It doesn’t look as though it's wet. And if it is, it's our fault for not putting it down properly so, we wouldn't hold that against the company. But I expect that it'll work. I would recommend SunSetter to anyone who was interested in pursuing it but they should get some price comparisons to see how it works out versus other companies.

The awning we purchased is tan and burgundy with a little bit of green and white in it. We didn't have a birdcage or anything for outside, but with the awnings, we're now able to be outside. We had also negotiated lights in it. We got them on a discount and the lights are unbelievable. Even if it’s pitch-dark outside, it’s like daylight when you’re out there. I also like the fact that if the wind gets too hard and it’s out, it automatically goes in. I also like the remote. I like everything about the awning and I would highly recommend SunSetter Awnings.

The arms of the awning I had blew off when we had a very heavy rain and windstorm. For years, I have seen Sunsetter advertise and I figured it is not a fly-by-night company -- they have been in the business such a long time now. It is wonderful that I got a SunSetter. I got a burgundy awning with a beige stripe. It is motorized and what I like about it is that it has a wind sensor, which is very good, so that if it gets a little windy, it automatically retracts. The reps were shimmying it just to give a little vibration and showed me how it works. However, I am very paranoid about the awning -- a little wind and I close it. One time, it was such a beautiful day and I went to the mall. While I was there, we had a severe storm. When I came home, I found everything down. It knocked off my lights on the walls, and all my patio furniture were turned over. The storm did not last long, but it was enough to do damage. So, I never leave my awning open.
The fabric is very nice and the price is reasonable. The company has been reliable and dependable, too. Their people worked together as a team, and they were very fast. I had a lot of questions and they answered all of them. Then, when I saw all the wires hanging out, I said, “Where are all these wires going to?” And they kept saying, “Do not worry. We are just going to connect to the existing electric that you have.” And I could not imagine. They then did a very good job and they cleaned up nicely too. They knew what they were doing and they went right to the job and got it done. They were very accommodating too. I got a 20 feet long motorized awning that extends 10 feet out. The awning is of tan-ish color. They also installed some LED lights on each end that totally light up the patio at night. I’ve given two people who live in this townhouse area where I am the company's name and number as they were interested in doing something as well.

We wanted to sit outside and have fun even if it was raining. My husband and I talked about having an awning then he looked around and he was the one who called SunSetter. The person who came in was good in his manners. He showed me how to operate it and what happens if the auto mechanism doesn’t work and the whole manual thing works. It's an auto awning and it has wind sensor. If it is too windy, it curls on its own. Recently, my daughter had a party in the night and all her friends came in and they were sitting outside and they had fun even if it was raining outside. But mainly we have a breakfast table in the kitchen and we eat out lunch there and in the afternoon, it's still sunny so the awning helps us with the sun too. We love our awning, it's good and I really recommend SunSetter

We liked the advertising of SunSetter Awnings that we saw on TV and they responded quickly by email, sending us a mailer with booklets. We called and a guy came out, measured and showed us samples. With him coming out, the transaction was pretty personal. The technician was also very responsive to our call and orders. The SunSetter team were quick hard-workers who were good and professional. We got the largest awning available and the color of it is called saddle. It matched the colors outside of our house very well and we’re very pleased with the awning.

But otherwise, we had a good install. The guys that did it quickly and they knew what they were doing. It all went well. We primarily wanted the awning to shield the rain but the guy said it would give us shade but it was no good as far as rain went. That was one thing that I was disappointed in but then I was very happy that it is somewhat waterproof. It is 12 feet in width, blue in color and with a remote. I asked for SunSetter's package, got it in the mail, and read all about it. I didn’t look anywhere else. I called the name that was on the paper in the packet that they gave me and told them I’d like someone to come out. Then, someone came out, measured and looked, discussed and we went from there. I purchased a motorized awning. It’s a tan color with a very thin pencil-like line through it in brown and it’s scalloped on the edge. Two men came out through the company that I had called to install it and they had it done and everything working within two hours. I love it and the service was very, very good.

If the association wouldn’t let you do it, then put up an awning. I looked at the bylaws of the association and they said I had to go to Queen City Awning who was going to charge me $9,000. I kept looking around at the competitors and the young lady that came out was very charming. She showed me all the particulars on the SunSetter, I presented that to the board, stated my argument, and they agreed that SunSetter had everything that the other one had for about half the price. The crew was excellent when they put it up and I've recommended SunSetter to my neighbors.

We just bought our house and having an awning was one of the things that we have planned for the house. We have been saving our money. It was kind of a little bit more than what we wanted to but we were pleased with our purchase with SunSetter. We were going to get a smaller one but we went ahead and got the biggest and motorized one. We weren't going to actually jump into that but we did and just was really happy.
I was pleased with the installer and his work and knowledge and all of that. We really had no issues with that other than when he took the awning parts out of the box the post that run down the middle was bent. And we didn't know it until we put it up and actually started to open it. Of course he wasn't happy about that. I don't blame him. Probably the last thing he wanted to happen is to have something damaged. It was impossible to ship or they had just decided to run a forklift over it or something.
We had to wait for a couple of weeks for a new one to get shipped to us. But if there was any glitch that was the only glitch there was and that was nobody's fault other than whoever shipped it. I would definitely recommend SunSetter. I also really like the offers that were online. I didn't need all of the things that were being offered online. But I found out that they were giving away a free grill at the time. And when I called I couldn't separate them. I had to get the whole package or nothing so I didn't buy it through the SunSetter direct and I bought it through the local guy here.
It would have been better for me to be able to just do it all at a one stop shop and get what I wanted. But they won't really accept it when I called them in regards to that. So I would tell people to do their shopping. Do their homework and make the time to choose what's right for them whether they have to do it online or they're doing it with the local installer. I ended up getting everything I wanted except the grill because they didn't give me the grill. I really did want that. But the local guy did give me everything I wanted and I ended up spending less money. I paid about $500 doing it that way. I probably was spending an extra hundred just to get the grill. But I can buy a grill for $700.

The way Sunsetter Awnings advertised on TV looked good and when we were at the Dawes County Fair, which is in the county that we live, we've finally seen them there. They had a display there. We were thinking about purchasing an awning. We had the deck up and during the summertime, the sun's beating on the deck and it gets too hot to sit out there. We talked to the guy and he came out and did the measuring. He was part owner of the place, so he was good. He explained everything. Our deck is bigger than the biggest awning they had and we don't want to go with two awnings because that would get too expensive. So, he figured how he could place the awning and that's what we went with.
The installers did a great job because they measured and we did have enough room for it to be installed but in between the overhang and the windows. And when the guys come to start installing it, they were having trouble with the fit and studs where they were supposed to be putting it. So, then they went to the local lumber yard and got a 2x8 to put it up there. And they put that up and install it. They showed us how they had done and they never charged anything extra. And I thought we had to pay extra for the 2x8.
It was September by the time we got awning. So, we didn't use it a whole lot. But when the sun came out in the fall when it got hot and we put the awning open, the porch, right off the deck, stayed a lot cooler. There was a lot of difference. I was very happy with the job they did and how they did it. And they were always on schedule. I do highly recommend them.

He laid out the fabric on the table and I picked out. He didn’t sway me one way or the other 'cause I basically knew what I wanted.
The installation was longer than I anticipated but I didn’t realize that the awning is as big as it is and it's heavy so the installation team took their time. They cleaned everything up so when they left, you never knew that there were workmen here. They were good. The awning is motorized. I think it's 18 feet wide. We use it all the time. Our door going outside kept hitting the lights and the tech came back and fixed it. He was right there and it was great. If my husband wants to grill outdoors and it is raining, he sets the awning out and stay dry and go ahead and do what we wanted to do in spite of the fact that it is raining. With SunSetter, there's just one price with the one that he gave me. He also told me that if there's any issues that I have, I can call them and we can take a look and go from there, without paying, which is a good thing. Then the installation was good and the guys were really nice and fast. They came to my house at the time that they told me and they also told me the installation will take about an hour and a half and that was it. I kept getting a lot of brochures and reports about Sunsetter Awnings. Their name was also more predominant than other companies and they seemed to have a better information for their product. Plus, the way they advertised and presented it was pretty professional. I liked their shipping and the way they packed their product, too, and all those good stuff led me to get a big electric and motorized awning from them. It’s 19 feet long and it took three big guys and myself to put it up. We followed their instructions and the video that they sent with it. I also viewed it online before I ordered the awning because I had to go make some measurements, make sure I had the clearance, and that the joist and studs were in place.
So far, my experience with the awning has been good. I put it over my garage and not over a normal patio like most people do. The support is stronger in the garage because you got your header over your garage door and it’s pretty sturdy, more so than just the regular studs alongside a house and that's important because it’s a pretty heavy awning. I also have a Styrofoam stucco type siding, so I have a one-inch Styrofoam over the studding. It took a little creativity to mount that awning so the stucco siding didn't collapse. I also made a backer plate to go underneath the mounting bracket and that really prevented the Styrofoam stucco from collapsing.
I have an 18 and a half foot garage door and I use the garage for a lot of different things like as a gym and a workshop. It's also an area to park my car in. And in summer when the sun comes in that direction, the awning provides shade for the garage, which was the primary reason why I got it. Then, every once in a while, I’d have extended activities in the garage and the awning would work out pretty good for that. I had several people stop by and they were pretty impressed with my awning. I got additional little cards from Sunsetter and I passed those up to them. I told them I enjoy it and as a matter of fact, I got one of the neighbors thinking quite seriously about getting one for his garage. Sunsetter also needs to promote the garage business. All their ads are showing their awnings over a patio.

We were replacing the awning that we had. It was a hand crank and after about seven years, it was caught in a windstorm which destroyed the arms to it. It was going to cost more to replace the arms and the fabric itself than it was to just buy a new one. There were good recommendations online for SunSetter. I kept receiving a number of different advertisements and all the reviews I read were very positive so I went with them.
The installers didn’t come out the first time because they were getting ready to load it in the truck and they found out it was defective. It sat in the warehouse for over a week. I don't know why they didn’t check it when it first came in. They waited until it was time to do the installation before they checked it. They said they were going to expedite the shipment but it took over two weeks before they sent a replacement. And then it was another half week delayed before it could be installed. So from the time we ordered it to the time it was installed, it was about seven weeks. That was not a good experience. To compensate us for all the trouble we went through, they gave us $100 off which I didn’t think is satisfactory. But once they got there and they did everything, we were very satisfied with everything. They went through a demo with us so it was fine.
The awning is 14 feet long and it has the electric and the wind sensors so it automatically retracts if the wind gets up to a certain amount. We really liked those features even though we had to pay extra for that. We mainly use it provide shade and reduce the heat on the west side of the house. The quality is great. But whoever is going to have to do the installation, if they're SunSetter's dealer, they're going to need to give a more accurate information as to the timeline and the installation.

And so, I called the fella that sold and he said he'll have the other guy call me but I never heard from him. I just used the cords for the cover and I had to tie them. But the clips would have been nice. They should have been put on before the awning. It's not exposed off the fascia board. Its protected, but I'd like to have those on.The installer had a jack with a nice machine to put that up. I can't handle it myself. They could have just draw a chalk line and put them all in a row and that would have been a fast way to do it, but he just kind of talked me out of it but it's kind of nice because I covered it.
I noticed that the awning doesn’t take a lot of wind for it to retract itself. We got it late in the fall, so we didn’t use it that much but it's off of a sunroom on a deck and it's on the west side of our home so, you get some western wind. And even from the south, I noticed too that one day I was sitting there and it started to retract. So, this wind maybe got stronger, and so it was giving a signal to pull it in. SunSetter Awnings has been around for a long time and carries a good reputation. We have a new home where we get very hot sun on one side of the house in the morning and then on the other side in the afternoon. We tried umbrellas which didn't work. I had to keep running out and put them down 'cause we're on a lake and the wind would blow them off. We even put them in cement but that didn't work as well. Having an awning seemed like the best solution without it being a permanent cover on our deck because we like the view.
The awning that I bought is motorized with the wind sensor. It's beautiful and it matched up with our two stationary awnings over our doors which we got from another company. It's really nice and we use it mostly in the summer. The team I've worked with has been wonderful and more than accommodating. They were here when they said they'd be here and cleaned up after themselves. However, I have to figure out if it's coming in on its own after 60 minutes. I probably have to replace the batteries, but we haven't had enough time or good weather to check it out. Nevertheless, it has been a great experience with SunSetter Awnings and I would recommend them. In fact, I thought of having another SunSetter. We have a very hot summer afternoon and it would make the front look so much nicer.

I needed an awning and SunSetter Awnings had the cheapest one. But they said that they shipped the awning. I checked the site and they said it was delivered. I contacted the shipping company and they said that they could not leave it because they needed a signature, so they took the awning back. I called SunSetter and they were supposed to contact the shipping company and they’ll deliver it. One time, SunSetter said they were going to investigate and they knew that it was returned but they couldn’t figure out where it was. After a month, I ended up canceling. The funniest thing is they called after about three months and said, “Where do you want to deliver it again?” But I don't want it anymore. SunSetter Awnings is not nice. Don't even try them.

I have a deck and there is no roof over it, so I just bake in the summer. I got a burgundy and beige awning past the full-summer-blown time, and I now get the shade that I want with it. But here’s my only problem. Sometimes, I like sitting out there in the rain. Without a brace down the center, when it is fully out, it tends to collect water on the end. I worry about the integrity because it is free-standing, and I'm not sure what is going to happen with that extra water weight. If it just has one little extra rib down the center or something towards the end, the backwater would not pool in there. We had to use brooms to push the water out. Nevertheless, if there is sunset, it is beautiful, be it during a warm summer day, fall day or when it is raining out. I like being out there even in the rain.
Also, I love that the LED lights along the edge add a nice feature to it because if we are sitting out there and we want to dim it, we can do that. Then, if we need to see what we are doing, we can always turn the lights up. It is just phenomenal. Furthermore, their team was very good. They came in, installed it, and they showed me how to use it. Everything was awesome. They were here and got it done within two hours. I’m lucky enough that the roof comes out over the wall about almost 2 feet. So, when I retract my SunSetter in, it is fully covered over the winter. I do not have to worry about it being exposed to any snow.
Now, I have not got it out yet because we are still in really wet, rainy weather and I have not been outside. But I’m hoping, when I do go out on my first sunny day and work out on my porch, that my SunSetter just sticks right on and goes. I truly love it except for that thing with the rain. My neighbors come over and they love it. Other people that I know who have had SunSetters love them, too.

I extended my deck and wanted to add the shade. I saw my neighbors with SunSetter and they had good comments about it. I got a 15 feet x 16 feet electronic awning in a color that matches the house. They said they had a special where it had the wind detector so if the wind was going too hard, it would automatically retract. They had to do some measurements and took less than 40 minutes to install it. Once they anchored it into the side of the house and added the attachments, it helped keep the actual material in place. Everything was pretty much a good deal.
I work from home and use it when I'm taking a break or if I want to sit outside but not for parties. However, one time, I left it out when it rained. But then, it rained harder than I had realized so it bent. But they came out within a couple of days to fix it and I haven’t had any issues since then. I would recommend others to try the awning versus putting a lot of money out into having a sunroom or screened in porch.

As part of some of the remodeling and upgrades I was doing at my house, I purchased two awnings from SunSetter, one this year and another one two years ago. When I went to Costco, I got directed to SunSetter. With the simplicity of their product, the quality standards and the fair price, SunSetter was the best value. So I purchased directly from them. I liked the sales rep that I dealt with, so I called him back directly for my second awning.
Their reps treated me well. The same construction crew came out here on the second installation, and they did a great job. They showed up when they said they would and they put up the awning when they said they’d put it up. They were here about two hours and the installation was very well done. Everything works great. I’m very impressed.
The awning I got from them is a basic canvass. It's black with a beige stripe, on remote and automated. I live in a gate guarded development. It’s very regulated as it relates to what you could do architecturally to your homes. So, if you do things that match the color of your home, then they all get approved easily. And they knew about SunSetter, the quality of the product and of the look. So, I didn’t have any problem getting it approved.
I have awnings over the two openings of my house. One is over a sliding glass door opening in my master bedroom, and another is for the sliding glass door opening out of my kitchen family room. I have paved stone across my entire patio, so I have a nice place to sit out there with my wife and stay out of the sun or the rain. The awnings work really well and are very reliable. We’re very happy with SunSetter. I would recommend them to anybody. It was an excellent experience from the beginning to the end. I would give the SunSetter reps here a high recommendation.

It's probably normal that people sell stuff that they don't carry and then they have to depend on somebody else to get it to them. And SunSetter doesn't act very fast. But other than that, they did okay. I purchased an awning to keep the sun off and I got a 10-footer and an 8-footer and these are both motorized. The installation was very good. We use the 8-footer to put over where our barbecue is so, my wife doesn't have to go out in the rain. It's a good experience if one got lots of money.

In our backyard, we had a patio redone and we get a lot of afternoon sun so it was a perfect spot for a SunSetter Awning. We can put it out when we need it set out there and roll it back up and not block the view. We got a call from the local SunSetter dealer here and we also got one from another company that had a different brand. We were very happy with the company that we dealt with but SunSetter had a better price.
We called up SunSetter and a husband and wife team came out in a very timely fashion and went over everything. They had all the fabrics and they were very good about getting it allotted. The awning we got is 20 feet long. It’s the powered one that goes out 10 feet and we also got the LED lights. Once the awning got dropped off, we called the dealer and he got his crew out within the next day. He was here pretty much the whole time his crew installed it and keep an eye on them. The crew did a good job and we’ve been pretty happy about everything from start to finish.
When I went out there to have lunch on the patio, I put the awning out and it worked very well. We’ll be using it more now that it’s gotten a little nicer to be outside. We got the awning because every time we had lunch out on the patio, there used to be too much sun there to do that. The awning is nice. I would recommend SunSetter. In fact, my neighbor across the street was looking at it and I gave him the card from the company we bought it from and he may be calling them. He might do it next year.

I have always wanted an awning, but I could never afford it. I moved from my house to a condo, which is a little bit smaller and has a deck. I had a handyman and he had helped me with a few projects when I first moved in here. However, I didn’t know how to get ahold of them. I thought they were on Highway 40. One of my sons whose patio is about ten times the size of my deck was quoting prices because he had looked into it. Then I asked him, “Do you think SunSetter is that good?” He said, “You’d be stupid if you didn’t do it, do it with them.” He’s a firefighter with Metro West. So, those guys are pretty thick. If there’s a bad thing out there, one of them is going to know about it. SunSetter has a pretty good reputation around here.
From the SunSetter team, one guy's name was Hector, and the other was Charlie -- he was kind of quiet. They worked like a machine. There were no screw-ups. I was delighted. They had it delivered to wherever their store is because I live in a condo and the streets are really narrow. Evidently, they’d come on a piggy-back truck and they couldn’t get through. I said, “Oh, my gosh.” One of them said, “No problem.” And there was no problem. They were just dynamite. I asked questions and he answered them. I said, “Do I want this?” He said, “This is the deal,” and he explained the difference. It was fantastic. And I kept egging them on, “Come on, come on, come on,” because I want to sit out in the rain. I then got it in October.
I have the automatic extend and retract. I’m the one that when you go in, like in the evening, I put it back because I have squirrels and I am afraid they’d party up there. It is a heavy-duty one as opposed to the sheer one that lets the sun come through a little bit. It almost seems like it is stuffed with tar paper and I can’t really tell that it is black.
I get direct sun in the morning and I just extend it a little bit to block the sun from coming through the French doors. Even in October with the crazy weather, I'd tell everybody we get at least 10 degrees. When I brought my mom here for a week, we had some nice weather and all mom wanted to do was sit outside. I opened the awning and put her out there. This is a woman who is 95 and is taking chemo and she said, "I can't believe it made that much difference". She is a Depression-era kid and she does not believe in spending money. She said, “I don’t want to know what you paid for it but it was worth every penny.” It’s more than paid for itself, as far as I’m concerned, on people enjoying it and being able to get my mother outside. It is phenomenal.
When I go outside and sit -- whenever I have company or friends, they love to go out there and sit. It’s really nice. I've talked to several people about them including my son-in-law. I'd tell friends to do it. The difference it makes is unbelievable. Nothing personal, but a stupid awning would not make that much difference.

Their team was responsive and did everything they said they were going to do in a timely fashion. They also corrected some of the things that didn’t work out. They installed a certain bin which turned out to fit with the mounting that I had, then they mounted the awning under the eaves. The installation, which took them three hours, was fairly painless and the cost was fair to what I got. When I pushed the hand-type one on to a rock, I knocked something off of it, allowed rain to get down in it, and destroyed the motor. I could still roll it out by hand but it wasn't electric so I replaced it last fall. I got a 16-foot wide motorized awning that's self-supporting. It took two people to install it because it's big and fairly heavy. But the instructions were very complete and it wasn’t hard to install. The quality of the awning is good. It's automatic and it takes it back in by itself if it gets windy. I figured 1500 might be a good price but I paid around $2000 for it, which was a little high but that’s the price they go today. I watched SunSetter Awnings' commercial on TV and liked what I saw. I thought it was a really good idea and that I should invest in it. We had all that backyard but we would go inside because it'd be too hot. With it, we could sit outside and not have to worry about being warmed by the sun beating on our heads. I discussed it with my husband and he said he wanted to do that.
When I purchased it, they were having a special where they said to me that I was calling at a really good time. The awning would come with a screen and I could put lights on it if I wanted. I was under the assumption that the awning would have the screen mesh thing around it but that didn’t happen. It was just the awning. And then I got another flyer in the mail saying that if I ordered between a certain time, I could get the screen. But I was like, "That's what I ordered but that didn’t come." That was a little bit off. I spoke to a lady about that two months ago. She said that the screen wasn’t with my order. When I asked about the special they were having as I was still within the time, she said they didn't offer it anymore. I felt like I got the brush off about it.
My husband and my brother installed the awning and it was pretty easy. They were up on the ladder and they were able to mount it to the house. They didn’t have any problems with it. Once they got it up, we started using it immediately and it worked fine. About four weeks ago, we had a stretch of nice weather and we had a cookout. We opened up the awning and we ended up inviting a couple of family members over. It was just really nice. SunSetter has an awesome product and I wish it could go all the way around the house. That would mean I'd have to buy two or three though. It's another way to be outside where the sun's not on my head. I like to sit outside when it rains too. It's just nice where I could just go outside and enjoy our yard and still be at our house.

Their team was a little aggressive though and I dealt with around three different salespersons because I didn’t purchase right away. I got quotes, got some stuff mailed and emailed, and there was some difference in the pricing and deals. Once I received those, there was no follow-up and that was disappointing.
Other than that, the awning is a good investment. I also bought the extended warranty on it which sounded really good. I installed the awning myself at almost 11 feet above the ground. I got a scaffolding which was easier instead of ladders because the awning is pretty heavy. I needed a lot of muscle but it was not really complicated. But once I laid out everything, it was all pretty much easily done. Three installers would be the best way to do it and two would be hard but you can do it alone. I put the awnings on the side of my house where I could drive up and have protection from the sun and anything else. The vehicles take a beating here as well so I like the shade. We live here in Northwest Oregon and some of the nicest parts of the day here are the mornings. We have an east facing deck and kitchen, but when the sun is so bright, we can't enjoy it out there because it's low in the sky during that time of the day. It also beats in the kitchen and gets the kitchen really hot so an awning was going to shade the kitchen and allow us to be outside without having to stare into the sun in those pre-noon hours.
My wife has a cousin who has had a SunSetter for 30 years and it has been trouble-free which was what I was looking for. We placed the sales call, got some information and it was all good. The awning turned out to be just the way they said it would. It's a 14 feet wide awning and it's the type that extends out without any posts or any bracing that is going to be in the way, moving in any direction from the awning. There was only one style. The bracing that was required was all above our head. It was not down in the traffic zone where we'd have to avoid it if we wanted to exit one side or the other. The awning was motorized and the installation went fine as the directions were good.
Overall, the awning is going to shade the sun from beating in the kitchen through midday because of the way our house is oriented and we'll get more use out of our deck because of it. The awning was expensive for how I'm going to use it but I'm at the stage in life where I can afford it. I'm also anticipating it's going to be trouble-free so that'll be the big deal and I'm going to really like it.

In fact, I haven't had any problems with SunSetter but I had problems with the company that installed my awnings which happened to be one of their approved contractors. There was a little slack in the material and I had to stretch it out. I called and talked to the contractor directly. I asked the them to come out, take a look at the awning, and see if they could adjust it a little bit to make it a little tighter. The lady who did the scheduling was supposed to get back to me to schedule a specific date and time but in spite of two calls, she never did. So they haven't come back and repaired that problem.
The awning I got is a yellow and brown striped, and it's the remote one. It has the wind sensor and the extended warranty that SunSetter sells. Love the awning. Would give it 5 stars. The problem was with your local installation co. - Authority Home Solutions in Ocala Fl. The owner, Chris ** came out and gave us a great sales pitch. After the awning was installed, they left a mess from drilling concrete block which stained our newly painted deck. Mr. ** was a complete ** at that point and told his installers they weren't in the cleanup business. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Our SunSetter awning has made a significant difference in our outdoor living. The difference in our living room temperatures, due to the shade provided, is really amazing and more than what we expected. Installing, however, was not as easy as implied. These awnings are heavy. I would recommend having it installed rather than doing it yourself. It also is questionable whether it would withstand 55 mph winds as suggested. However, for the most part, it is well worth the investment.

We have a west facing living room and patio behind the awning, and we were looking for something to help out for the summer sun. We looked at different options and decided we didn’t want a bunch posts out there, so having an awning was the answer. Our neighbor has one that he installed last year and we liked it so we copied. It was easy to reach SunSetter and it’s the same brand of what my neighbor has. We ordered the awnings online and the sales lady was outstanding. She helped me design the thing in terms of what I needed. I needed two awnings and we talked about the measurements, how far they’d go out, and all the good stuff. I ordered them from her with a credit card and less than a week later, they were in my front yard.
A good old neighbor and a couple of other friends came over and we got it together and did it in a morning. It was easy and quick. The afternoon sun kills, so the awnings give us an increased shade and decreased heat, so we love it. I found that they're one inch too high to stop the sun just standing here. But that’s my fault. I highly recommend SunSetter Awnings and I volunteer to help.

We needed an awning which we got from SunSetter and had a very good experience with their team. One of the awnings that we bought was an automated model. We got an 18 and a 10 footer, and both of them had the same color with higher end cloth. My wife and I installed them and it was easy. One has a wind sensor on it and it worked well. We had it out and when I was demonstrating it to some folks, the wind came up and the awning closed and they were impressed. We’ve enjoyed the experience with SunSetter Awnings a lot. I would recommend it.

I needed an awning for our back porch. I've always seen SunSetter's commercials and thought I’d give them a shot. I had shoulder surgery, so I had a bunch of friends come over and put the 18-foot deluxe model, remote controlled awning up for me. Setting it up took longer than what the instruction said. It took four guys about four hours to put it up. After my friends left and I went and rolled it out, the awning was tilting really bad to the righthand side. It may be out of balance and break something, so now it’s on the back of the house not being used.
I asked SunSetter if they would pay for somebody to come out and adjust the awning but they said no. We emailed back and forth and they said they would help me adjust it over the phone or through email. They tried to talk me through it, but me not having my friends over, I couldn’t get up there and do anything with it. I wouldn’t be right for about six months. I told them that I needed somebody to come take care of this and they asked if they could send me $50 to help the situation out. But if I called people here in town, they wanted $150 to come out, and I don't have that.
So I’m a little disappointed in SunSetter and I don’t know why they wouldn’t come and take care of business. I've tried calling them twice about it then, I gave up on them. It’s at a stagnant point right now. I spent $1,800 or so on the awning and I expected that when it rolled out, it would be perfect, but it was not. I shouldn’t have to adjust or mess with something when it's brand new. It’s like buying a car. You go back for a $10,000 oil change, it should run perfectly.

My wife and I were pleased to purchase and operate our Sunsetter Motorized Shade. It was just what we wanted. We expected a the product to work. Nothing more or less. Fair, right? The shade stopped working within 1 year. So, it required a new motor. OK, things happen, and Sunsetter sent a new motor at no charge. But now I need to pay someone to replace the motor. So, 2 install costs for 1 year of product and about 12 (twelve) up/down operations. We have now owned the shade for 2 1/2 years. The motor went bad again. Sunsetter stated they would not send another motor at no cost for the motor. Recognize the product failed at 14 months after replacement and they will not make good on their failed product. Also, the 2nd motor only had approximately 15 operations.
When I talked with Sunsetter they stated I should be able to replace the motor myself. Hard to do when I am handicapped with shoulder and foot disorders. I asked 'do you think my 90 year old mother should be able to replace the motor?' The response was 'yes'. How insulting is that to state I was inept, and my mother should be able to replace the motor. 'Sure, it only weighs 3 pounds'. Really, that is a credible response? And I asked if I should be expected to replace the motor every year and a half. They said yes, that is a possibility. The product is unreliable and the customer service is atrocious. Based on my experience I think it clear this is not a credible product or company to do business.

They were really helpful and I got a better awning that was motorized. It came in a long tube, had the mounting hardware and instructions so I mounted it. A couple of my grandsons lifted it up into place so I could secure it. It is nice and level, and it works great. We have another SunSetter Awning up on the balcony. The company was always handy to get to as well. The purchase was all done by phone and the people I talked to were fine. I got a 16 feet wide awning, right about 12 out from the wall, and it was an electric one. My son and I installed it ourselves in three hours from total scratch and I thought that was good. We hung it up, put the roller on it and plugged it in, then it took off. It was just going through the motions of getting it done and installing the awning was easy and simple. The awning is right on the spot where I needed it and everything is right on the money, too. I’d recommend SunSetter easily.

RE: Collapsed Awning. While I was temporarily away from the house on Sunday morning Oct 22, 2017, torrential rains and tornadoes started sometime after noon. By the time I rushed home, the awning had filled up with water, causing it to sag severely in the center from its normal height. Even though I put one side lower than the other, a maneuver required by the company; the rain was coming too fast and overwhelmed the awning. I tried to release the catchment of water with no luck. A properly designed awning should be able to encounter heavy rains without immediately collapsing.
I called many people including 2 engineers and could reach no one to get help. Finally, I was able to get two friends to come over. Before anything could be done, the awning collapsed on one person, pinning their arm between it and a metal chair. The arm was badly hurt so they rushed to the Emergency Department at Thomas Hospital to get it x-rayed. My right rib was also damaged. Both of these matters could subject the manufacturer and dealer to serious lawsuits.
While speaking to Sunsetter Awnings on Monday 10/23/17, Dillan, representative, requested that 2 incident reports be filed for the injuries sustained. He completed them and said he would send them to the Sunsetter Products Corporate Department. It is a design flaw that caused this accident to happen. There are 4 legs/arms that each have 2 levers that must be released to start telescoping each leg in PRIOR to being able to wind in the awning. The 2 legs/arms are 20 feet apart from the other 2 which makes it difficult to operate.
They sold me a defective and faulty designed product. Immediately upon installation, the first heavy rain the next day, caused it to break in half. The main 20' aluminum bar across the front that carries the awning in and out, broke in half. ( there are 12 pictures to prove this statement ). It is critical that these 2 companies (SunRay Home Solutions, Shalimar, Fl and SunSetter Awnings, Malden, MA) accept responsibility for the collapse of said awning and refund the entire amount paid in good faith by me for this product.
It is very fortunate that no one was killed when the weight of the awning and water collapsed to the ground. It is necessary that they stand behind their product. The consumer must be protected from these dangerous products. If they continue to sell this particular design, other consumers will be hurt as well. On Mon. 10/23/17, I made numerous attempts to reach SunRay Home Solutions. The owner David ** never responded to my calls. I spoke with the manufacturer, Sunsetter Awnings, several times over a two week period. They said they spoke with the dealer to no avail. I wrote David ** a certified letter Nov 2, 2017 stating if they would not refund my money by Nov. 28, 2017, he would force me to take them to court. To date 11/16/17, he has ignored my calls and letter. Today is 11/29/17 and my letter has again been ignored by Dave **, owner SunRay Home Solutions.

I had a porch that faced the sun and it has a deck. I've never used it because it is unbearably hot. Somebody told me about SunSetter and that he had installed a few of them. He said they were really nice and I finally decided that I was tired of not ever using my deck. I asked for information online and a sales rep called me within half an hour. He's probably about two hours away and I set up an appointment for him to come down.
He brought all these displays and samples. He also had pictures of awnings that they had installed and was very thorough. He was very fair and very honest, too. He said that nobody gets the fabric that I wanted, that it was not a good fabric and I felt like he was very knowledgeable. He was very helpful and suggested a fabric that would look good which I ended up getting. He didn't feel like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need and want. Then I looked at the screening that I can also get and he said he didn't recommend that. He said that I wouldn't use it that much and it's kind of a hassle. Also, he said that it wouldn't look right with the way my porch and deck is built. A friend of mine wanted one, too and she came down and listened to him. He walked down the street, measured hers and went through it, too.
For the installation, the installers bailed out a couple of hours but they were very good. They'd obviously done it quite a bit. They knew what they were doing and they didn't have any problems with it at all. Now, with my new awning, I'd sit out here all the time and it's really nice. I haven't even folded it in yet. It hasn't been windy enough to pull it back in and it's great. Everybody that sees the awning loves it and the fabric. It's remote-controlled and has sensors. This awning is the best investment I ever made. I thought it was expensive but it was worth it. It's certainly cheaper than building a roof over the deck and I wish I'd done it before because I've had this deck for several years and never even used it.

I was previously in Pennsylvania and I had a built a sunroom on the back end of my house that face south. The afternoon sun used to come screaming in the windows on that side. I saw the ad for SunSetter Awnings' manually retractable awning at a home show in Allentown, I purchased it and put it up and then when the hot sun would come screaming through the left side of the sunroom, that awning would block it out because it overhung. And it was always a plus that it was over the patio. When we bought our house in Florida it was logical that I would do the same thing that I did in Pennsylvania.
SunSetter Awnings wasn't available on the day we moved because we just moved in with everything. We had a problem connecting. The awning was delivered to the house or the business. And then we finally connected after about a week. They came out and they did the installation. But then I lost over a foot of awning that I would have liked to go out further because the one I wanted went out to 11 feet 8 inches, and it had to be a minimum 14 feet wide. The area that I had available is only 13 feet 6 inches wide, and that meant I had to go with the 10 foot 6 inches awning. But that's my only complaint. It retracts easily and it's one of the better features. It's fully electric and I also have the wind thing on it so if we're not at home and I have left it up and the wind blows hard it will close itself. There were two fabrics and what I currently have is softer but the better of the two.
When there was a problem with one side of motors making a contact or the remote because it would go out but it wouldn't come back, they worked on it to figure out what that was and when they found it they resolved it. I've never had another problem with the awning since then. If any of my friends were interested in an awning, I would show them what I have, tell them it's a good one and say how I got it.

Purchased SunSetter Easyshade manual from Costco just over 5 years ago. Parts started to dry rot from the sun within 3 years, was not covered by warranty. Now the shade, the principal part of the product is starting to come apart where it attaches to the rod. Customer service said, “Sorry, just out of warranty.” Offered to sell me replacement shade for me to repair. This product does not hold up well to the sun and SunSetter failed to stand behind their product. I cannot say I can recommend this product as it fails to stand the test of time and SunSetter fails to stand behind their product.

When I lost my willow tree, I purchased an awning from SunSetter due to their reputation. We had a company out of Indianapolis that does SunSetters but they do others too. The model I purchased is quite wide. It's the longest one that expands out the furthest. It's also a remote controlled one. We were able to sit on it and get out of the sun.

We bought our first SunSetter, a 20-foot manual, 20 years ago. It was in excellent condition because we took care of it and we never left it out when it rained or got windy. But we're getting old and it was getting too heavy to maneuver when we put it out of the rain. So we decided to get a smaller 12-foot one then we decided we would get the lights and get it remote-controlled. You hit the button and it all comes out which is absolutely wonderful. However, I wasn’t happy with the people who came to put it up and the leftover wiring from the LED lights. It was rolled up, tied with the baggy thing and left sitting up there, and so much of it was showing. I’m flossy but it’s also going to snow and rain and that is a pain.
I had the installer come and look at it. I asked him if he would want his house to look like that with all those wires. He said he hasn’t had any complaints from other consumers but he hasn’t installed too many awnings with the LED lights either. He said that was the way it came and there was no way to hide it. I tried to hide it underneath our siding but it was not working. So I had to get an electrician to come and hide the wires.
He came and added a box to put the wiring in and up the top but he had a very difficult time trying to find a box to put it all inside. He went to Amazon, eBay and the electrical stores. Even when he did come up with something, I'm not 100% happy with it but at least the wiring is not exposed. It was a big deal too as it cost me more money than I bargained for in the end. It was complicated figuring out what to do with the excess wiring from the LED lights. SunSetter made the cord so long and maybe they have reasons for that too but they should come up with something extra to hide the wiring.
Now, there's the problem with the lights going on and off. So I called SunSetter and they were very good about it. They troubleshot it with the electrician and they figured it was the ballast on the lights that was not working so they're sending me a new one. They said it should arrive within four or five days then the electrician would come back and do it again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the lights work because that's really the point that I love about it. Otherwise, their products are made well and as far as the awning itself and the lights, I would recommend SunSetter to anyone. I've had a very good experience with them. It's only now that we have a small issue but even then, they've been very cooperative.

The shipped item was almost too heavy to even get out of the semi that had to deliver the 20+ foot rolls. Which is maybe why... The shipping tubes were broken in multiple locations, parts were missing and after final installation a tear was found in the fabric. On the good side my installer was fantastic and SunSetter sent me a new canvas to replace the damaged original.

Had unit little over 5 years. Did not extend it out everyday and recently one day it was working next day it wasn't. It would run out but not return. Called factory for advice which walked me through many checks. After we were done, it now would not roll in and all she could say you now need a new motor which is $500, and about $250 for installation which is now out of warranty. Believe we paid almost $3000. I can't recommend this company for that was not good service for the little time we had it.

We LOVE our motorized awning. The selection of fabrics allowed us to match a canopy cover that we already had and now both the awning and canopy appear to be a matched set! After using our awning for a few months we are so happy to have added it to our home. It's just too bad we didn't do it a long time ago. Previously, the deck outside our patio door would get so hot that we had to keep the door closed to stop the heat from pouring in. Now, even on warm days we can still have the patio door open and enjoy the outdoors while the temperatures have been reduced inside because the sun doesn't heat up the deck. The remote control makes it easy to adjust the amount of shade we want, and the wind sensor guarantees that if a quick thunderstorm passes thru, the awning will retract and not be damaged. Your local installers did an excellent job and no additional service has been needed to date.
We would gladly recommend SunSetter and your local salesman in Perham, MN to everyone and would buy again if the need ever arose. It's a great product. For purely personal cosmetic reasons, our suggestion would be to have the option of a brown awning cover and cord available as the white doesn't match our red cedar siding and dark brown windows as well as a dark brown would. Otherwise we have no complaints or would make no changes in your product.

I give my awning a 10! My experience with the company a 3???? Didn't do a good job of communicating at all... Didn't hear from them for almost 5 wks and then when they couldn't make it out didn't call me. I had to call them to see if they were still coming. Other than that it was fine.

It works great but I believe I paid too much. I believe your TV ads are misleading. They show a great price, but by the time your salesman gets done and convinces you to buy the remote controlled model, and the automatic wind sensor and the extended warranty, you're paying a lot more than what they show you on TV. Classic bait and switch. I ordered it, I paid for it, I'm stuck with it, and I wont ever buy another one.
We are happy to hear you like your awning. Your purchased from a local independent awning dealer, not SunSetter Products, so we don't know what you paid for your awning, and can't really speak to your comments about the pricing. We do know that when you buy from a local independent awning dealer you are getting added service not available through SunSetter. Your local dealer likely came to your home to measure for your awning and make a recommendation to fit your deck/patio and your shade needs. They accepted delivery of your awning saving you the time and possible day off from work to wait and sign for the delivery and the probably installed your awning for you. Those added services make it difficult to compare what you paid the local dealer vs the factory direct pricing for the DIY consumer. The Motorized Awning model, Wireless Wind Sensor and the All Weather Warranty are all recommendations we would have made to you as well. No one ever regrets adding the motor, but some do regret not adding the motor at the time of purchase. It looks like you made all the right decisions to be able to enjoy your awning for many years to come. We, SunSetter are the manufacturer of your awning and we hold the warranty. If we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

It's been one month since it was supposedly sent out. Terrible customer service follow through. Terrible delivery service!!! Would NOT order again!!! I wish someone would follow through with their orders.
After reviewing the photos you emailed to us and tracking your awning delivery we completely understand your frustration and disappointment. We too are disappointed with the lack of care in the handling your awning while in transit. We at SunSetter we take great pride in our product quality, our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers. We regret any unpleasant experience that our customers may have. I am very pleased with my awning. (No fault of yours, but a 16' would have been better.. given me more coverage.) However, now, my screen door does bump the first light on the left, going out of the house. I just don't know how to express the problem. If speaking with a service person is possible... maybe we could figure a solution to correct this issue. This was not a problem in the beginning but currently is.

Our deck faces the West, and in the hot days of summer we didn't set on our deck, until we purchased the SunSetter awning. Now we sit out in the evenings, and watch all the birds and animals scurry around backyard. We live in the country and have a one acre backyard with trees and lots of flowers. The SunSetter lets us enjoy the great outdoors. Thanks.

I received defective clips for lights. Once I drilled the holes and clips wouldn't work I was not given any reasonable answer. Would not ever buy from SunSetter again. Very poor customer service and poor resolutions for the issue. Sunsetter had very poor customer retention.
We sincerely apologize for your experience with your Dimming LED Lights. We appreciate the feedback and would like to make things right. We will reach out to you privately to understand more about your experience and how we can can make things right.

We have been very pleased with the service provided and the product. We would and will recommend your company and service providers. The awnings help keep the house cooler in the hot months of July and August. The awnings are a breeze to operate.
