I wanted some awning over my patio and I saw the SunSetter commercial on the Inspiration Channel. I thought that would work and it would be cheaper than putting a roof on. The sales representative was great, really nice, and didn't talk me into things that I didn't need. I ordered the awning and it would be put up once the house's siding would be done. I'd recommend SunSetter Awnings.

I decided to purchase an awning because of the time of the day that the sun beats in. I went with SunSetter Awnings because of the reputation. The people there were great and very professional. The young man explained things to me. I was also very surprised at how quickly the installation went, so they knew their business. The overall quality of the product is very good and I would recommend the company that did it.

We had an aluminum awning that is 50 years old and so we thought about getting one of the SunSetter Awnings kind. The SunSetter team was nice and they came out and showed us samples. We picked one and then they installed it a few weeks later. We got the green and tan Spruce 6968 model and it’s motorized. There was a big post with the old, metal awning, so it was in the way with the outdoor table. Now, with the SunSetter on, we don’t have the post and there seems to be more room. And then we have more light in the window when the awning is closed. We also use it more when sit out there. When the sun is up, we open it up. It’s nice and others should get one too.

We made some improvements on our home. We were gonna move out, and then decided to stay because we enjoy our house, and when we got the siding finished, I said to my wife, “We can’t enjoy our deck without a really big umbrella or something to make us happy.” And then we looked it up and found the advertisement of SunSetter Awnings in American Legion magazine. I had heard about it before and that’s the one I wanna do business with. We sent it in, got the package, made the deal, and we’re all set to go now. We got an electric motor roof mount that’s 20 x 11. The installers were fast and very polite. It was a one-day installation that was completed in less than six hours and it was great. My wife and I have enjoyed the product. We’ve been out there many times already.

We had talked about getting an awning years ago. We had a big 70-foot tall pine tree that was right by our deck that used to give a shade. And that pine tree got a disease, so I had to chop it down. Then we looked at SunSetter. We got the DVD years ago and we just called the guy. SunSetter is reputable and they’re well-known throughout the whole country so we decided to have an awning from them. The installation went smoothly. I hired a contractor to do it and they were here about four or five hours and they did a really good job. They were very friendly and congenial, and they showed me how it worked before they left. I’ve been happy ever since.
The awning that we got has green and white stripes with the tan which matches the house. It’s a 12 by 15 and it’s motorized. We got the tiny little lights with it too which were attached to the house, right above the patio door, and the patio door goes out onto the deck. I call it utopia because we got palm trees there, the awning, the deck, the nice chair and the glass table. The dog loves the awning too. He lays down and looks up when that thing is moving. The first time we made it move, he ran. But now he likes it. And he lays there at night and looks up at the light and he thinks they're stars. Our SunSetter awning is great. I would tell others to get one.

I needed some shade on my patio. Because of SunSetter's price with their awnings, I decided to purchase from them. SunSetter's reps were responsive and very professional. The delivery was quick too. We got two motorized awnings in navy blue and white stripes--one was 13 x 10 and then the other one was 8 x 10. Then, we had a local guy listed on SunSetter's website come and install the awnings, and he was great. So far, I’ve been very happy with the awnings. I would recommend SunSetter.

We bought a new house and we thought SunSetter Awnings was the only awning company around. The sales guy who came was great. But I was a little disappointed that the installers were a guy and his son. I thought it was gonna be professional people and not someone who just got out of the hospital and has heart issues. When we took the SunSetter out, I heard a big old click on my house and I’m afraid to even use it now because I don't know if that means something cracked on my house or something was broken when they installed it. I don’t trust the installation and the guy is the only guy in Michigan. The awning we got is green with a stripe and it’s large. It also has lights on it. We paid for the wind retractor, which I don’t think works and we paid for some cover that really doesn’t cover it. I’m disappointed.
Dear Charlotte,
We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with your new Awning. At SunSetter, we take great pride in our product quality, our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers.
We will reach out to you privately to discuss your experience with your independent SunSetter dealer.

I had wanted to get an awning for a while and SunSetter’s price was something I was comfortable with. I went to the store and the reps showed us what the options and colors were. They measured to see how big an awning we wanted and finalized the details. Installation was pretty easy. They told me when the awning would arrive and when they wanted to come and do it, then they came. I wasn’t there for any of it but I came home and the awning was there. It’s tan grey in color, 20 feet long and it has lights and a remote. It looks great. I’m very happy with the way the colors look against the house.

I’m staying at my mother’s house in Tennesee. I came out here the end of October and while I was here, my mother passed away so I decided to stay longer than I planned. Summer came and the house has no kind of overhanging on the roof. I needed to place something where I could come outside if it was sprinkling and make sure my doggy was okay. Also, if I wanted a cigarette, I could come outside. I saw SunSetter's ad on TV and their representatives were friendly. They were also knowledgeable and they answered every question that I had.
I got an 8 feet wide motorized awning with a two-tone brick color. The installer who came was professional. He showed me how the awning worked and cleaned up everything. For the most part, the awning is just perfect. The only bad thing, which nobody can do about it, is if the wind happens to be blowing in from the side, I’m going to get wet. But overall, it’s been great. I like the awning. And if someone is interested in getting something similar to mine, I would recommend SunSetter.

When trying to purchase an awning I was naturally able to find all kinds of poor reports however I am one that believes if people have a issue they will write a bad report however if they have few or no problems they don't say anything. That being said we purchased our unit (XL 20' Awning) in August of 2015. Here is what we have till now. We have been very pleased with the product and the installation. Although I felt as though I could have installed the unit the installed price was what I felt was worth it... It took 3 men to do the install and they all seem well qualified, were neat and professional. When they did the prelim on the project they ask if we could get an electrician to install a 120V outside power plug which we did, no problem.
The quality of the product seem sturdy and we have had no issue to date with the equipment... I am hopeful that we will see 7 to 10 years of use out of the SunSetter. We have had no issues and the only thing we are trying to do now is blend the Somfy remote control with our Amazon Alexa echo system. There are not real instruction that I have been able to find thus far and am hoping Sunsetter will respond to my email request. Otherwise all is well, I would recommend this product.

We had one awning and it was 19 years old, so it was time to get a new one. We saw SunSetter Awnings at the Home Show and got prices, and it was good. The sales team was good too. We purchased a motorized awning and it's the beige with the green stripe. The installers did a nice job. My husband sits down on the patio a lot because he likes to look out on the golf course, so he needs to sit in a shade. We're all satisfied and I would recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We have a patio that's in the southwestern setting sun. We needed protection from the sun so we purchased a SunSetter awning. So far, it's been good. SunSetter was the only one I was aware of with an extendable awning I could hang on the wall that could be without remodeling the house or going through the homeowners' association so we went with them. This whole thing began with Costco. They had an offer in their monthly program.
I also found SunSetter by calling Weather Armor, a local dealer. The president of Weather Armor called me within 24 hours after my leaving a message. He is a distributor and he has licenses for Ohio and West Virginia. He's a very active and effective guy as well. And then, he got his lead salesman for Northeastern Ohio to come up and see me. I got the VISTA awnings. It's a SunSetter retractable awning. It's 20 x 12 and it's kind of an off light that matches the siding of our house which is important in our neighborhood so I didn't have to get the approval of the homeowners' association and I had the dealer's guys install it. I already recommended SunSetter to a neighbor. I gave him all the contact information, how I went about it and what the price ought to be.

We had one of those gazebos off our back door and we replace the top of it about every other year. I was looking for something a little more permanent and an awning was more convenient and fit the bill. SunSetter Awnings was a better choice compared to other awnings companies. The guy that came and did the initial sales call was very knowledgeable and really personable, and we liked him. We purchased a motorized awning and it's a 10 x 12. The installation was very efficient. The installation guys did a really good job. They're a great team and it didn’t take them time to do it. They came, put up the brackets, put the awning on, plugged it in, and it was good to go.
We've got several dogs and we use the awning to sit out and watch them play. I've also got to watch being in the sun because I take blood thinners and I can't be in a real direct sun for long periods of time, so my awning helps that way. And it's really nice underneath the awning as opposed to being out in the yard out in the sun. SunSetter was a great choice.

My deck is really hot and I wanted something to cover up our sitting area that was easy to take up and down and would last a while so we decided to buy an awning. The salesperson was really nice. However, I didn’t get much information afterward. They never reached out to make it easier for me. We had somebody put the Nutmeg 14x12 motorized awning in which took an hour and a half. They were really quick and the installer was friendly. He was just playing with my dog whenever I would come out and visit to see what they were doing. SunSetter Awnings is a very nice addition but it is a little pricey for how much it actually is.

I've had a few SunSetter awnings. Their product works fine and I always have a good experience. I had moved to a new home and this awning is probably my fourth one. I called the representative personally again and he was great. I got the same as I’ve always had. It’s motorized and about a fourteen-footer. But I may wind up another awning because I don’t think it’s quite long enough and that was my error in measuring. The installer said that they can easily remove it, move it over and then put the other one up. So they're good. I use the awning all the time. It's in the patio and I also leave it open on very sunny days so the house doesn’t get too hot.

Two different contractors back in 1990 recommended SunSetter Awnings to me as the best one to use and we did it. And after all the years that we had the awning, it was in great shape or worked well, and we couldn’t complain about it. It had served us well but it was old and needed to be replaced so we purchased another SunSetter awning. The reps were great. When the shipment came to us, we called them and the installers were out very shortly thereafter. They installed the awning and we had to do nothing. They did a very good job with the installation and stabilized it well. We had taken the old parts down and took away everything that needed to go, so it was good. A SunSetter awning is a good thing to have particularly if your deck is on the south and west side of your house.

We had a temporary canopy and it got shredded, so we looked to do something that would be more permanent. My wife had been seeing SunSetter's advertisement for years and she really liked what she read about the product. SunSetter came up and the guys were very informative. They told us that because of our dimensions and space requirements, we couldn’t put up a permanent cover since it’s close to property lines. Then, a fellow who was in training and just getting into the SunSetter business came and did the installation. Ours was the very first installation that he ever did. We got a 10-foot beige awning with long stripes which is also motorized and attached to a standing wall. We've only had it for a few months, but with my experience, I’d recommend SunSetter.

SunSetter was the only awnings company that was promoted in our area and we had seen it sold at Costco and different places. A lot of the neighbors had gotten one and were pleased too. The salesman presented it to me and my neighbor at the same time to save time for the two of us. We called and got an appointment the same day that they were going to talk to them so they didn’t have to sell it very much since we were already sold. Our neighbor on the other side had already bought it so he sold three within the space of an hour.
We got the 20-footer awning and it was acrylic in colors to match our vinyl siding and shutters. We got the remote and the wind detector as well which was a special that day. But instead of the snap-on cover, we got the vinyl cover that keeps it intact and covered all winter. The installation was delayed a couple times -- once because of the weather and once because of a personal issue with one of the installers. In spite of that, it was very efficient. It was put in a couple weeks ago so we have only used it once. Overall, I had a positive experience with SunSetter Awnings and we are enjoying them.

We decided to purchase an awning years ago and then my husband got ill, and that got put aside. I finally got it up as it would make the patio more usable. We had SunSetter in our other house in South Carolina, and we were pleased with it. We bought a very large one from them as well. The purchasing experience was very good. Also, the installers came when they were supposed to and did it then followed up on it. There was a slight little problem though but they came back and fixed it. We use the awning to cool the patio, and it cools the inside of the house also. With my husband just passing away, it's hard and we haven't had complete use of it but I enjoy it.

We have a patio behind the house and there’s too much sun so I got a SunSetter awning. The reps at SunSetter were quick to respond and efficient. They came in, gave a presentation although I had kind of decided that was the direction I was going. They were actually ready to go too quickly in a sense because I haven’t got the okay from the homeowners association yet. So I had to put them off a week or so. We’ve ordered at a price and that was the price I paid. Everything was as I expected it should be.
The installers called and said when they were to come. And they came when they said they would. They put it up quickly and that was the end of it. The installers did not leave any mess behind. We’ve used the awning twice and it retracts when you need it. In the summertime, we spend a lot of time sitting out in our patio whether we’re having guests over or I just get up in the morning and sit out here and read the paper and drink my coffee. Once it warms up, we expect to use it a lot more.

We have a fairly large patio and a partial earth contact house, and our backyard is mostly a hill. My wife can't climb the hill 'cause she staggers, and if we put an awning on, we'd have something we could use that would be in the shade. The guy from SunSetter came out and talked with us, and he did a bunch of measuring 'cause it's a 19-foot awning. I made a comment about it being manual, and he said, "You probably don't want that." I said, "No. 'Cause if I'm not here, my wife has to do it, so we need electric." He went over the options as to what the differences were and how it worked, and then my wife picked some colors. They were here an hour to an hour and a half and they were done. They gave us all the paperwork and showed us how everything worked. They also gave us information about wind stuff 'cause we didn't get a wind sensor.
We haven't had the weather to use the SunSetter awning yet, but I'd recommend it for the most part. We're gonna use part of it to help block the front of the house from the sun in the summertime and that might help to keep the house cooler. The only possibility we're looking at now is some type of flap on the one end 'cause when the sun goes down, it still catches the porch.

I have the 10 x 20 SunSetter awning. The metal is cream and the color is almost like a wheat. It’s solid. I only used it three times and I’ve loved it. I’ve been in the hospital so I didn’t get to use it more. But I would definitely recommend SunSetter. I was very pleased with my awning installation. The installation people were very good and they could have done the job with eyes closed. But I wish that their salesman told me everything when he came out. I made a big issue out of the fact that I'm in a windy area and that I wouldn’t leave. I asked, “What if I’m sitting under the awning and a wind picks up?” It was the installers that told me to have the safety mechanism put on and that it would be $218. If the wind should pick up to 60, the awning would automatically close without me even doing it. But the salesman never told me about it.
I called SunSetter and I asked them to order me one of those little mechanisms. The lady was a little snippy. I told her I wished I had been told about the safety mechanism option and she told me she would put me in touch with my salesman. But I didn't want to talk to him. He didn’t know enough to tell me about it then. I made my order in and I have not heard from them. Now it has gotten to be more time consuming to see when it’s going to come in and have that installed.

We had a patio in our backyard and we wanted to have shade back there. An awning costs so much lesser than building a roof over the back patio. We used SunSetter Awnings and we saved a lot of money. Everything was real good with the team and they were friendly, nice, and informative. They also showed us how to use the remote control scrubber. The awning is a black and white stripe and it also retracts to the roof, which is a great feature. We don’t have to shovel snow off the top of the roof in the wintertime. And I can tuck it out of the way on a cloudy day. Then I got my barbecue set up right next to the awning and so it comes down and covers the back door then we can put chairs underneath there. We have chairs alongside of the house so when the awning’s down, it’s a shaded area. And even when it rains, we can go out there and sit.

I got the 12 feet wide and 15 feet deep motorized XL Pro. We don’t have a screened-in porch so it goes over the entire patio slab and we use it in the mornings to shield off the bright sunlight. We have sunlight on that back until about 2:00 in the afternoon so, it’s usable throughout the day. So far, we haven’t had any problems and we don’t expect any. I also got a couple of compliments on it. I had a friend that had one so I knew what to expect and it’s what I expected. I've always wanted an awning and I finally got the money. The dealing I had with SunSetter's reps was good. But the boy that put that thing in didn't explain and tell me enough about it after he installed it. I had it working for four days. And after seven days, my daughter-in-law came to see us and she wants to buy one but it wouldn't even work to go up and down. The boy said he'd be here the next day. But he came back two hours later and showed me what to do and what that reset button was down there on that switch. There were three switches in there and he said there was a red and white button. He punched the red button and it took the top off. But there ain't no red and white button in there. It's that little old flap button and it ain't big. It's nothing but an inch square and both of them are white. When he showed it to me, I knew what he was talking about, I reset it and it started working.
However, money was the biggest thing and SunSetter charged way too much for what it was. It costs over a $100 a square foot. It wouldn't go down about $200. I called and wanted my $200 deposit I was supposed to get, and he said that he had taken that off the price. If I haven't had the money, better off the last ten years since I retired, I would have never bought it. Other than that, I like it. They say I got the best material and I hope I did 'cause I sure like to feel like I paid for it. I would recommend them and it all comes down that evening when I called SunSetter and the boy was here in four hours.

We had been wanting to get an awning because my husband doesn't like the sun. Our neighbor got awnings last summer and when you think awning, you just think of SunSetter. Everybody was efficient and professional but when I called the 1800 number, I assumed I was getting Wheeler's, the dealer. Instead, I got a receptionist who made me believe that she was the receptionist at Wheeler's and she couldn't speak English very well. She right away wanted my name and address. I was skeptical about getting information over the phone with somebody that was more interested in getting my information than giving me any information. Then when I was asking her questions, she didn’t really understand. When I finally gave her the address, she had a very hard time putting the zip code in. I almost gave it to her in Spanish because she wasn’t understanding it. When I asked her where she was located, she told me that she was in New York.
I then asked her to give me the number of my dealer and I called Wheeler’s and within a few days, their rep, Mark who was very nice, came out. He told us that the awning would work very well because we have windows off our family room but there's a big plank above it and they were able to secure the SunSetter off there. When the guys came, they were here in less time than even expected and it worked great. They took their time and showed the awning to me. They were very prompt and they did a great job. We moved into a condo and it didn't have an awning at the back. We wanted a nice, little patio with an awning over it. I had seen the advertisements of SunSetter Awnings and we wanted a retractable awning, so I answered the ad and somebody called me right away and I made the appointment. They're the only awning company that's approved by our condo association, other than the ones that have permanent awnings. The awning model that we got from them is 15-foot and motorized. It has the wind sensor on it and it's in the one color that's approved by our condo association here.
The same man that did the selling of the awning installed it with his niece. The installation was fine and didn't take very long. The installer got here around noon or so and he was done early in the afternoon. He even changed the light out and rewired that for us for free because we had a light that was too high for where the awning was gonna go, so I had bought a new light that hung low. But the only thing was that he didn't show me how to put the cover on the awning and I'll figure that out somehow. We've used our awning a couple of times and it has really been nice to sit under it. I've already told some people in our condo that we liked the way our SunSetter awning was done.

We moved in to this new house and there were so many things that needed to be done all at the same time. And one of them was the awning. But we finally got a SunSetter installed. This is the third SunSetter I have purchased. Every house that I’ve moved into, I’ve added a SunSetter awning to it. First of all, they’ve functioned just fine and the price is something that we can afford. I’m a do-it-yourself person so it appeals to me that I'm gonna install it myself.
The new awning looks fine but the installation wasn’t easy. I’m almost 90 years old now and things don’t quite go as easily as they used to. But my wife’s son was here. He’s a big, strapping guy and so he was able to lift it into position because I couldn’t lift the 75 pounds of weight in order to put it on the bracket. I’ve been pleased with everything about it except that it closes by itself. We put it out to keep the sun off of us and all of a sudden, it closes for no reason. We finally just got it functioning just in the last two weeks. So I’ve been wanting to call them to see if they can give me some explanation as to why this is happening.
The awning is motorized. That’s the biggest improvement I’ve made. The last one at our last house was an eight-footer and I really could have used a slightly larger one, but the next size up was too big. So we actually end up with a little less than what we would have liked. But sometimes, you have to adjust. In the last house, we put the awning up at the beginning of the summer and took it down, folded it up at the end of the summer. It was an additional room for us.
The first one was down in Arizona. It was a big thirteen-footer. We used it every day. We had a problem down there. There was a lot of wind, so I never could leave it up like I did up here in Washington. I had to put it out and use it and then when we’re finished, we’d retract it because of we had neighbors who had one and the wind actually just tore it right off the house. So I didn’t want that to happen.
The first two awnings were manual. If they had a motorized back awning it would have been about around 2004. Back then if they did have a motorized one it was out of my price range. So the big change is that they’ve made this motorized awning so I could afford it. I’m very satisfied. I’ve told a lot of people about it. I showed them how it works. This is a retirement community and they highly approved SunSetter. That was one of our first questions when I looked at the first house and the landscape. The manager was out inspecting some of the works that I’ve done. I’ve demonstrated the awning for him and he said that he thought that he might like to get one.

We moved into a new house and the back has the sliding glass doors. Last spring, the sun beat down on the interior floors and the exterior. It was very hot. We had an awning at another house we lived in years ago and we thought that was what we needed to keep the heat out of the living and the back porch. So we looked up SunSetter, called, and got a representative to come out and talk to us. My husband said they were wonderful when they came to put it up. They did a great job and they were very efficient. He was very pleased with it and we love having it. It just makes the world of difference.
Our awning has like the arms that fold back and forth. It is striped and it does have the wind or alarm thing that makes it go in automatically in the weather. It's one of the high-quality ones. Some days, if the sun's too hot, we just open it up, cooling and helping to shade the interior of the house. We have our outside table and chairs and we've eaten out there several times. We've planned to use it for that all the time. SunSetter is excellent.

It was hot so I purchased an awning and I did it through SunSetter Awnings since it seemed to be more convenient to use. I just push the button and it goes out, and push another button and it comes in. You'll sit under it and drink your lemonade and be happy! I had a sales gentleman and installation group and everybody was very satisfactory. The awning is wonderful except that it's very sensitive to small amount of wind. It could be damaged by strong winds since it slaps up and down. Also, I have not gotten any confirmation of my insurance on it. But everything was very satisfactory.

I have an outdoor deck on the second floor and we are really not able to use it because it’s too hot and sunny up there. We wanted an awning to be able to use our deck more. My friend had a SunSetter awning for many years and she told me that it’s been a good investment. So we got one too from them. It's a nutmeg-colored and it was an electric awning but not the turning one. It isn't too large since it's for a small area. We went through Golden Hammer in New Hyde Park and they were very good at scheduling and setting up. The unit was installed within three hours and the installers cleaned up. It was a good experience. The awning was a good purchase and it has definitely helped.

I needed an awning and purchased SunSetter as they were offering a promotion at the time. Also, after doing my research, I found that it was what will meet my needs better. When I called them, they transferred me to the local guy who does the installation. We interacted and we saw the covers and selected prices, and it was a good experience overall. Everything went well during installation as well and the guy was very professional. Two weeks later, however, SunSetter had an even better promotion. Something I paid for was now being offered free for something else. Nevertheless, my SunSetter awning is very useful and it provides the shade, which is what I was trying to do for my deck area.

I had to have all my trees cut out of my yard and I had to put a new patio in so I didn’t have any shade. I kept seeing the advertisement in the magazine so I thought of doing it. I have heard about SunSetter for a long time and the sales agent was fairly good. He measured it but he didn’t explain straight and good enough to the workers. I said I wanted it over to the edge of my patio and that way, it will be closer over to my door. When the workers came to install it, they put it way over to the end of the roof so we called them back and they moved it over. They were nice guys and they should have done it right the first time but they wouldn't listen to me. They said they couldn’t do it and it's gotta go all the way around. I told them no and that it was not what was measured. The guy who came and measured did it right but the workers didn’t do it right.
Aside from that, they left a plug with a cord dangling and I could trip on that if I step out since I’m old. So I made them redo that and move the SunSetter over a little bit. They were in a hurry and didn’t pay attention but they came back to fix whatever I was complaining about. I got a motorized awning called Forest Green and in the commercials, I kept seeing that it was very cheap. The materials were $500 but by the time you figure out the taxes, the workers and everything else, it comes to big numbers. I haven’t had a chance to do very much because I had to go to the hospital but I had Bridge at my house yesterday and all the ladies and the gentlemen liked it. All my children are going to come down and they want to see. I told quite a few people about it and that if I ever have to cut my trees down, I’ll order one.

I wish I had purchased from SunSetter Awnings years ago. I was tired of getting cooked on my deck. I was looking at reviews of different awnings companies and SunSetter kept coming out good. They came out when they were supposed to for the initial appointment. They also reminded me of common problems and challenges that some of the owners have as far as forgetting how to adjust the slope. They gave other helpful tips too. One thing I didn't realize though was that the installation team needed dry weather for a certain number of hours before they could work. My installation got rescheduled because it was gonna rain that day and they let me know the day of. But other than this hiccup, it was a really good experience with SunSetter.

We have a patio on the west side of the house. In the afternoon, you can't stand it out there. So I needed to do something that could also help keep a Carolina room that we have cool on that side too. The salesman of SunSetter Awnings came out as very nice and knowledgeable. We had to order the awning and it took about a week to get it. And then two installation guys put it up. I had no problem at all since then. The installation guys had to move a downspout on a gutter and they did a real nice job with that, and they patched up the old hole. You can't even tell where it was.
They asked me a couple of questions, had me check out the height of it and had me make sure the slope was up high enough. They showed me how to adjust it, how to operate it and how the hand crank worked in case a motor didn't and they were good. It was very clean, in and out. The awning is attached, has a motor and is 16 feet long. It goes out about 10 and is a brown stripe. The awning just allows us to sit outside in the afternoon and enjoy the chaise lounge. I'd tell a family member to go ahead with SunSetter because I have no problem with it. The guarantee is good and everything on it.

I wanted to get more use out of my patio. I live in Georgia so it’s hot and a lot of times, it’s nice to sit out there with that direct sun you feel. I looked into purchasing an awning and SunSetter was the only awning company I looked at because of the reputation. I worked with Randy and he was awesome. He did everything he said he’d do and he showed up when he said he would. His helpers were nice and everything went very smoothly. I got what I ordered, but I didn’t like the color. I even didn’t like the fabric that I picked. But Randy swapped that out for me at no charge and didn’t even charge me labor to swap it out, which was really nice because it was my fault. So, I couldn’t say enough about Randy.
My only issue was with the shipment through UPS. Both times the SunSetter Awnings team came in and UPS wouldn’t deliver the awning for days. One of the installers sat there close to a week and a half and UPS wouldn’t deliver it to him. He was sending me copies of the tracking showing that it was in the area and not delivered. Awnings are big and bulky and they probably take up a lot of room on the truck. It might be hard to work around, but still, it should be 10 days if they tell a customer 10 days. But that wasn’t Randy's fault, it was UPS’s.
I went back and ordered another sunshade after that. And once he got it, he came right out and got it right to me. I was very pleased. Then, I have a neighbor who loves it and said that they thought about getting one, but they didn’t wanna get a SunSetter because his wife said that it’s something an old person would have, like a retirement home. So, I told him to tell her wife that the reason younger people don’t have them is they probably can’t afford them.

Our SunSetter awning is working fine. But I've reinforced it because they didn't put it in the way I told them to. I mounted it, drew them all away through the mobile home like I asked them to do and didn't do. But I'm happy with it and I am finishing the deck. I have the sun in the back and it creates too much heat coming through the breezeway and the carport but after I installed my SunSetter it helps keep everything cooler.
The other type of awnings are like the old fashion way, you just hand crank it like an umbrella. But I've seen there was like an automatic or remote control thing with SunSetter so it works nice. I had the wind adjuster thing so if it gets too windy, then it just closes by itself and I like it. But it's not the color I wanted because I wanted just black and white stripe, but I ended up with a gray and black stripe. And it's about 18 x 10. It's a big one. Everybody, including my friends, seems to like it and it creates a lot of shade. They always advertise the discounts and rebates but I ended up paying $3,600 for the damn thing and it was advertised at a certain price. But that's the average size. But then again, I'm happy with it.

J&M Awnings and More have wonderful people who installed the awning and I will highly recommend them to anybody. The awning is motorized and it's in stripes. It’s not the most expensive material but I’m happy with it and it matches the color of my house. It’s an eight foot and mounted to the roof. We just started using it recently because it’s been rather pleasant until now. It seems to be working fine and I use it for shade when I wanna sit in the deck swing. Overall, I would tell others who ask to go with SunSetter Awnings.

I needed some awning in front of my garage because I hang out in my garage a lot. So we made it on to get the sun and the heat out. The installers were good. But when they shipped the product, somebody took a forklift and rammed it through one of the awnings so they were damaged. I bought two awnings the same time and the brackets of the other awning were missing for the hood. So that never got shipped out after way after. But point being I had the installers call the manufacturer to see if they can do anything for me because it took three weeks to get the thing sorted out and get the installers out here to do it.
The installer guys told me the manufacturers said they’re not gonna do anything for me in terms of compensating me for the time that was completely wasted. So I’m not gonna buy anything from them again nor would I ever recommend anybody to them again. That’s terrible customer service. What happened was the front one that was exposed to the element -- the rain and everything, has no hood on it. So it was just terrible. And it isn’t really exactly cheap. I spent 7,000 and change for the two of them and that’s cash money. You’ve spent so much money on something you would think they can help you out with something else. Like, “Hey. Yeah, we know messed up. This thing came in damaged. Here’s 200 bucks off or whatever hell it might be.” I’m not asking for a 50% discount or anything. They need to work on their customer service and I wouldn’t go back and buy anything from them again. That’s just the end of that. So don’t buy their pile of junk.

He then ordered it and told me he’s going to call me when it’s in. He was reliable. He installed the awning and then, my canvas was torn so he had to reorder one and then he came and changed it out. I love my SunSetter and it's great. My patio is not big enough to put up a permanent one so I like that you can retract the awning. I would also definitely recommend it to a friend. In fact, I was in Arizona where I have a niece and I saw that she has a balcony. I told her that it would be perfect if she has a SunSetter and that she should get the motorized one.

SunSetter Awnings is in some ways, good and in some ways, not so good. We don’t have much shade in our backyard and we have a patio that’s totally exposed to the sun. We explored various options and decided that SunSetter Awnings was the way we wanted to go. They advertise a lot and it’s the only one I really knew about. I’ve always read good things about them and we had a local dealer. The carpenters came out to install the SunSetter awnings and quickly learned that there was nothing solid enough for them to attach the awning to with the brackets. It’s not what they called a fascia which is the decorative board that runs below the soffit. When they went to attach to that, we found out that there was this six- inch gap between that board and where our house starts.
That wasn’t the carpenter’s fault but we had to figure out a way to get something back there. And one of the things that annoyed me was that they suggested mounting it on the roof and to me, that looked terrible. We have pine trees across the back of our yard and the awning would have been full of pine needles. There’s no way I would have attached it to the top of the house. They say people do that but to me, it looks tacky, so I told them we were not doing that. I replaced the soffit and fascia at the back of the house and while they had the old soffit and fascia off, we removed the board and they added boards behind there so that he’ll be able to attach the awning. We don’t have it attached yet so when the guy came out the first time and said he couldn’t attach the awning, I told him to take it back and keep it at their warehouse until we can get this worked out, which they did. The carpenter was very cooperative.
The owner of the dealership which is actually a fireplace store has SunSetter Awnings as a side service. And it’s mostly just dealing with the owner of that store that has not been the most pleasant experience. He’s not a people person. Also, the salesman that sold it to us ought to do a bit more checking to see whether they have everything they need to attach an awning before they sell it to us. We took care of getting that fixed but that cost me a couple thousand dollars. I would have been doing it probably next year anyway and we just had to do it a bit prematurely.
Then I called dealership and told them to come on back out and the rep said it’s gonna be June 4th before they can get here. We were already on their list so I asked if they can put us in a little earlier and he said they're booked up until June 4th, so we have to wait 'til then. When I asked if they can put us on their list for any cancellations, he said they'll consider us. Nevertheless, the carpenter who came out was extremely respectful and was very professional. But all he does is install awnings and he couldn’t fix the problem.
I’ve already paid half down on this awning and they're custom made. I knew that we're gonna have to come up with a different solution for our shade and that probably we are gonna have a battle. How am I supposed to know that a house that was built in 1960 didn’t have wood behind there to attach to? Maybe more needs to be done upfront since these awnings are custom made. I feel that the SunSetter awning is very pricey but we decided we were gonna do it anyway so that was our call. My overall feeling is that what it actually cost them to make those and install them is a lot less than what they’re charging for their product.

However, we have one small incident right now. The wind has rubbed the canvas part of the awning two little holes in there so I've gone up there and I foamed rubber around where it was rubbing and making the holes. But I don't know if there's a way we can patch it. The gentleman who installed it was well aware of it and said that they need to cut that back but I think he forgot.

I just had a new deck put in and I've been looking at the awnings in SunSetter's commercials for years and I thought I'd try one. My experience with the team at SunSetter Awnings was generally okay but they sent me the wrong cover and I had to order another one which was a little traumatic. When the awning was shipped, it was bent and I couldn't get it to straighten out. It was like a curtain that was not hanging straight. I called them and they said that it should straighten out after I have it put up. I left it a month or so but it never did, so I ordered another one and they sent one without a problem. They didn’t want the cover back so I had to find a place to do something with it. It was 13 feet long and aluminum, so it was a big package.
I had a neighbor that had the same awning but it wasn’t motorized and it was quite a job getting it cranked up and down. So, I immediately made a decision to go with motorized and I really liked it. It's good. I had help with the installation since I'm older and I can't get in the ladder well anymore, but it wasn’t easy. You have to know what you're doing or you mess things up. But the installation went well and it worked. I would definitely recommend SunSetter Awnings and I would tell others that I buy from them. And if I needed anything else, I'd look there first. The people were all knowledgeable and cooperative. They're doing a good job except they have to be a bit more careful when they ship the awning so they ship the right thing.

We've been looking at an awning for a year and looked at all online purchasing places. I ended up calling Sunsetter directly and we seem to have gotten the best deal and service calling them. I also had a great experience with their representatives. In fact, I called back to the same fellow and we bought some aftermarket accessories as well. However, I talked to the local SunSetter guys and I wasn't impressed with their installer. I installed the brackets myself since the instructions were easy. But it was a sixteen-foot awning, so I needed a couple of buddies to help me get the awning up.
We have it for five months now and have no issues with it. However, I purchased the extra five-year warranty but I haven't gotten the final invoice documenting that I received the awning, overhead, hood, wind sensor and the extended warranty. But I’ve paid five months on a row on my AmEx. Other than that, Sunsetter has been amazing. They have turned our deck into an additional 160 feet of living area which we should have done 12 years ago.

I had had an awning at a home that we had before we moved and it worked out wonderfully. Then, I was putting a screen porch on that had to have a screen roof and I knew I needed shade. Somebody suggested that and clicked in my mind, "Oh, yeah." My previous one was a SunSetter and there were a lot of features that I really liked like the remote. I didn't even look at another company.
The man who came out to measure and talk to me about it was great. And the same guy who sold it and another man came out and installed it. I have my SunSetter on this enclosed porch and I have the full 20 feet motorized awning. We use it mainly for the shade and when we're out on the porch, I open it. I really like the product but when I'm using my remote, I have to be on top of it because otherwise, it will hit the end of the porch. The guy could not tell me how to set that remote so it would stop and he said, "Go online and figure it out." I can't do that. Af first I thought it would be easy but I'm untechie. I'm very afraid with it if my grandkids come over because it could ruin it. Somehow, I have to figure out how to set that remote so that it stops that awning from opening all the way.

We needed some shade for various portions of our house and for our porches. However, it has got to be the right price, has a good reputation, and the color was very important because it has to be compatible with the house colors. We did our research and my wife and I liked both the price, the quality, and the color selections at SunSetter Awnings. Moreover, the team who sold it to us was very knowledgeable and my wife handled those negotiations.
The installers were extremely well qualified. They took their time and made sure we knew how to operate the system. Since we purchased two motorized awnings, one for the ground level and one for the second floor - it was one in the front of the house and one in the back of the house - their team worked with us. The installers were better than the person who sold it to us. It's because we got it here and you could look at, you could see that they had a very good understanding of how it had to fit and looked right. So far, we use our awnings primarily for shade.

It was so hot on the deck so I got an awning and it made it cool in the house. It was a lot of help, and will be a lot of help for the sunshine this summer. I got everything motorized. I got the wind sensor and all. The installation seemed like it was okay but the installers put the awning a bit too far to the front because when my backdoor opens on the screen door, it rubs a bit up on the top 'cause it made it heavier and pushed that down. I called in once and the installer didn’t think I needed it but it still rubbed a little bit and I told him I was trying to keep it from rubbing up the little thing up there and put through in it myself trying to hold it up higher. It was rubbing up against my door but he didn’t want to do anything about it. I told him it needed two posts on each end. It needs two little bit on each end where it comes out over about 10 inches or something and they put it up on the top of that. And it seemed like the heaviness brought it down a little bit.
Also, SunSetter charged me too much. I paid over $3,000, but they're advertising now that you can get them for less than a $1,000. But it's important to have because it keeps the sun off. I mentioned it to my neighbor to put it on the side of her house since they have no carport and they have nothing to cover her car and she backs it up into her yard once in a while. It's right out from my kitchen and I know I see it setting it but it's in the sun. She sees mine because it's right out at my back door. I would recommend it. It's a good idea to have.

Here, the weather comes from the south. The door in the southwest part of the house that we use a lot for going out, back and forth and to let the dog out into the yard had no cover over it. When the weather is inclement, it’s handy to have some cover. And we wanted one that we could retract to the south. I looked at other alternatives and SunSetter Awnings just seemed to have worked out best for us. Plus, I like their quality. The installation was a very good experience. The system was shipped here and I had it rolled out of the way. Then the installation crew installed and set it up.
But I have a problem with the inward stop, which doesn’t work and I don’t understand why I can’t get that to work. But that’s probably just me. It’s programmable and so instead of it coming and slamming against the house, I can program it to stop short of that. The average stop works fine. If the inward stop comes in on its own and I don’t control it specifically, like if the wind gust hits it, it retracts on its own. It slams when it hits the house. In addition, if there are damp leaves on it and it gets retracted, the leaves get rolled up in it. Unless you put a really steep slope on one of those, there’s no way to avoid that. It’s been really great to have the awning on there.

We didn't hesitate to get an awning here in Kentucky when we needed to get one since we have two SunSetter awnings in the yard that we have had for close to 10 years and we have been very happy with them. We got the electric one and we got it through one of their vendors here and our interaction with their rep was very positive and the installation was no problem. I was able to use the awning at the end of last season and it was great. I like that it provides shade to the back of the building and keep the inside cooler. That's a nice benefit. Also, having the automatic retractor retract before I would retract it is a nice feature to have.
The quality of the product is good. The two that we've had for close to 10 years only had damage to the cover that I put over during the winter. The birds love nesting behind it and they were picking some threads then trying to use that as material for the nest building. I don't use the cover anymore but it's been fine. But other than that, the product itself has held up well. I like having it. Get one if you need an awning.

We bought a house that has a manual crank awning and we really like it but we had to manually crank it out so we decided to go with an electric one. And years ago, I worked for ATA Transport. They were out of New Jersey, close over to where the twin towers went down, and they used a lot of SunSetter awnings and I knew about it too. We called SunSetter and we really like their product. It's doing us a good job.
The person who installed it and SunSetter's representative were both nice. The rep explained to us about what we could get with it, what we wanted, and what would be good for our application. He measured it and said that the awning that we had could be expanded another foot and a half and it wouldn't have any problems. He was very helpful. He ordered a color for us -- it was like green and white. We just got it towards the end of the summer.
I got a 30-foot enclosed car trailer to hold my classic car in and he went over and looked at it and told me that my application would work on a car trailer and would stir away from it. We did put one on our car trailer too. But he said that the application for the home wouldn't work with the car trailer. He was honest and truthful with us. He was really good. Plus, his friend who he contracted and put it up for us was professional too. We have nothing but good things to say about SunSetter.
We like the awning. We were able to use it for a couple of times last year. It was getting late and we're older. We get around, go to other places quite a bit, but we had the awnings out several times to enjoy it as long as we didn't put up the light kit. We didn't like it. The guy who put it up told us about it. It's a promotional thing so it's not like we paid extra for something we didn't use. We also purchased an extra helm that protects the awning. We could see where that works really well.

We're too old to use crank and the motorized version is a godsend. We use a remote with the awning and it is easy to use. The sun was awfully bright and hot in our living room. We shopped around for awnings and we found out that as Costco members, there were some discounts for SunSetter that made it a bit more lucrative for us to go to that direction. Plus, SunSetter is much more well-known than some of the other awning companies that we were investigating.
We went directly through SunSetter and we had their representatvie come out to do an estimate. He was an older gentleman and was very nice and informative. He's a third-party contractor and he has been doing it for a long time. Then, we let him know about the discount from Costco, which he matched. So, the initial interaction was fine as well as with the installation. We got the full boat from SunSetter and now the exterior awning overhangs the balcony which is off of our living room. Everything went fine as expected and so far, so good. We got the awning during the late summer and we’ve only had it up for about eight months. I’ve had two humongous trees removed from the backyard that were old and the trees were leaning toward the house. I was concerned that if there was a storm, they may come down and end up right on the house. I had those taken down and in that process, the trees that had been blocking a lot of the sun were gone. I was out pedaling on my motor one day, cleaning it up after I mowed and I was right in front of the shaft doors. The sun was just glaring down and it was really hot. I thought I could put an awning here and eliminate some of that. My house is light colored outside. The sun was reflecting off there and it’s a two-story house. Spending time down there at ground level in that particular spot was just brutally hot. My neighbor got their awnings installed first and that’s really where I got the idea. I had been looking at them, talking about them, and he had been talking about them. I wanted a color screen that would go with the house.
I went online, got SunSetter's number and called them. When I first called the guy from SunSetter, we sort of connected. He seemed like a really nice guy. His son and another worker did the installation. They were here when they said they would be here. They were very pleasant and they did a great job. I had an awning put over my deck and one over my shaft door down in the basement. I had to be out of town on the day that the installers came and I told my neighbor's wife, “Look, you know my color screen, you know what colors I like, why don’t you just pick out a good color?” I don’t want anything light. I wanted it to look good. She did a great job picking the colors and it worked out great. And my neighbor is pleased with his awning also. I really enjoyed both the awnings. You can retract them and I had them put the light strips on the one on the deck. It just makes a real serene setting in the evening. Even if the sun is not out, it's pleasant sitting back there.
The people that I’ve played golf with, during the cooler months when the leaves are going in the winter, they can see my awnings from the tee box and they’ll ask me about them and how hard are they to roll out. The awnings got a remote so you just push the button. Then, if we have a big wind storm and they are out, they’ll automatically roll back up and we tested that. I typically don’t leave them out, unless I’m going to be out there. But if I forget and leave them out, and we had a huge wind storm and they start shaking from the wind, they will automatically roll back up and that works. You can test that with your hand and start shaking. They’ll roll back in so you don’t have to worry about it. I can’t say enough about the professionalism and the service SunSetter has provided. I’ve had absolutely no problems with the awnings and I had them both put it in last year.

It’s a sliding scale.” Only 80% is covered after a year and only 60% after two years. After five years, there’s no warranty at all. That really bothered us because we invested a lot of money in it and that’s not what we signed up for. That really pissed us off. The person had put on his salesman cap because he wanted the project and that's typical with companies these days. They just throw fast ones left and right, and that was one of them.
My wife and I were also pretty upset with how the issue was handled. I called SunSetter and they told me that it was clearly stated but it was not. We went over everything with the guys who installed it and it was never mentioned once. We had another miserable June and July on our deck. Every time we want to have people over, it would be like, “Okay, move four different umbrellas around," and none of them work. I purchased an awning from SunSetter and when I had the guy come out and look at the site and measure, that was all fine. Then, they turned around and fired the guy because he lied and screwed everything up. It went downhill from there.
I got a roof-mounted one that was supposed to come with the hood that covers it up. Clearly, we discussed it. But everything he did supposedly was wrong. It wasn’t in the contract and I’m like, “There is a contract. I never signed anything.” It turned into this big ordeal where I threatened that I was going to go Diamond Certified and tell them how terrible they were. Then, they said, “Okay, it costs $1,600 for this.” But it was unreasonable and I said I wasn't going to pay that. We negotiated it down to $800 and it took another month when they came out to put it in but they finished. I said, “Okay, so I need to give you my credit card.” They said there was no charge but I said that we negotiated it. They said, “No. No, look. See – it says here charge blah blah blah.” But a month later, they were telling me I owe them $800 so, it was a disaster. I eventually gave them the $800 and told them to go away.
Also, the installation was awful. They said it would be three hours but it turned into six hours because they brought some guy they were training. And in every step of the way, the other guy would have to tell him, “No, this kind of wrench. No, that kind of wrench.” It was like, “I know more about this than this guy does.” And then, they didn’t have the cover which was supposed to be installed. They also didn’t do the electrical routing the cord and they were like, “Oh, well, we don’t know about that. We have to come back.” Once they finally did that, they had to take the whole awning down, put the cover on, and put the awning back. They managed to gouge a hole on my deck, scratched the marble on top of my fire pit, and not point us out. It was bad all around.
I'm not super enthused with the awning. It has some kind of odd little features like the flap at the front is supposed to be like a sun shield from an angle. But it just flaps around in the wind and it would rip off. They said there are clips I can buy but you can't have them on all the time. You can put them on when it's closed and when it's open, you can't use them. And I have to get a ladder to put them on. So I made my own little clips. Also, the cover doesn’t fit correctly. If I had to do it over, I would not do it and would not have bought it at all. Maybe the product itself isn’t that awful but it’s the company that they are using as one of their authorized distributors or installers. I would say, “Stay away from them.” I wouldn’t want anybody else to have to go through that.

We wanted to get parts for our old awning but we ended up buying a new one. We had a good experience with the first one from SunSetter Awnings and so we got a replacement from them which has blue and white stripes. I bought the biggest one that was made which was 20 feet wide and 12 feet deep and the automatic kind. We had one of the professionals attach it to the house and the experience was fine but we had a little scheduling difficulty. Ultimately, the installers figured it out and got the job done. The awning is on the sunny side of the house and it’s primarily a summer place so, when the sun is blaring in the midday, the awning is the perfect thing. It’s a really good product and we’ve had a great experience with it.

The house came with an awning but it was a crank-out type. I have multiple sclerosis so I was unable to open it, so I went with the motor one. SunSetter Awnings has very well put together commercials and an excellent rating. They told me it would take about 10 days for me to get the awning. But when I asked who comes out to put it on, they told me that they couldn't install it and that I had to hire a handyman. That was disappointing. I had to buy the awning then I had to pay someone to put it in. I had to pay twice and it also cost me an extra $600 because the old one had to be taken down. The warranty was part of the package but I don’t know how it would work when they didn't install the awning. Obviously there was a miscommunication between how and who installed, but they make a good product.
I like the unit and it works well. I have the lights with the awning too. But I'd like one of those shields that go over the awning. It is on the left side of the house and it gets beaten up really wicked by the wind. Otherwise, the awning is doing everything that I wanted it to do. My backyard faces west so as the sun goes down, it's right there in our faces. The nice thing about the awning is it has a little lower overhang so it blocks out the sun until it is just on the horizon. It also helps with the coolness.

We bought the SunSetter awning and we’re satisfied with it. It's motorized and attached to the home. It’s 12 feet x 10 feet with red and yellow stripes. When I did an addition to my house, there was a long expanse of space that is on the backyard side. We would need an awning for the shade and also for the looks of the house. I had heard of the SunSetter and a couple of friends had installed them, so I went and looked at theirs and I got their number from somebody who already had one. I made the call, got some information that was sent to me and I opted to get it done while I had some workers here. We got an awning that was 20 feet long and remote controlled. It was delivered and we put it up.
Fortunately, I had carpenters and they put a reinforcement board then took the siding off that they already put on. They may have done extra from what was necessary, but they felt doing it right if we were doing it. It was an easy process if it were just my family doing it but it would not have gotten up so soon or as reliably safe. SunSetter did what they said they would do and the product was satisfactory from quality and expectations. The awning accomplished a couple of purposes and balanced out the expanse we have. It was a very positive experience.

The heat on my deck was too much and I needed a way to cool it off. I wanted a retractable awning so I went with SunSetter. I got a motorized unit with a remote and automatic sensor to retract if the window blows so I don't have to worry about it being left open. Their reps were excellent. They gave a great evaluation of what needed to get done. What I needed, what my options were, my upgrade and how everything worked were all clear. They also helped me pick the color, which worked out great. Then the installers came in and removed the existing hard, awning-like thing on top of the roof. They also took off the doorway for me and put it in the garage. Then they put up the awning. The electrical part ran perfectly and was tacked down neatly. It was excellent.
The awning is great. They don't skimp. We use the awning at night because it's nice to have coverage during that time. It almost makes another room in the house when you have a covered area like that. Then during the day if I want to get some sun I can retract it. If I want shade I can put it out. Go with the best, which is SunSetter. I could have bought cheaper ones online but they’d be a nightmare right now. And I know if I ever have a problem with the unit, SunSetter can fix it.

And then they have enough nerve to send me a thing in the mail when they’ve had my money since August, yet I haven't had a working one since.
I was promised everything one can think of and none of it ever came true. I also asked for a new one as I've put up with enough and they still won't do it. We had a 14-year-old SunSetter awning that has fallen apart. We knew what it was gonna look like but we should have looked around more than we did because I wasn’t thrilled with the installer. SunSetter uses local installers. They came over after we went through the main number and put a proposal together which we thought was ridiculously expensive and he said, “This comes free, and this comes with it, and this comes with it.” We said, “Well, you know, we’re gonna have to look around.” And he said, “Well, it won't hurt you." And he came and we gave him a price and he said, “Okay. I’ll do it for that.” But none of the free stuff was there.
I'm very satisfied with the way our new awning works and I don't have anything against it, but the installer was a disappointment. The awning that was previously there was bolted to the house. It was a manual type of awning. Our new one was a motorized version and they haphazardly threw caulking into the holes that were there. They didn’t fill all the holes. They left the support arm holes open so we had to go do that. I felt that the installer pocketed the $500 and went from there. He really came off as a very shifty individual. Normally, they’re at quite an angle. It’s been winter time and I haven’t used it. I had it out and it caught me on the first snowfall so I was worried about that. With the snow, it kind of drooped down a little bit. I had to get the snow off and then reel it back in. Other than that, I’d recommend SunSetter. The sun kept getting in my eyes. I looked at different awnings and though SunSetter's product was the most pricey, it was the best reviewed and you get what you pay for. So, I sucked it up and paid the price. Initially, I looked online and saw what I wanted. But their website was a little difficult to navigate for finding certain things. I could find an item one day then I couldn't find it the next. So, I ended up finding a local dealer from their website. I called them up and organized the sale on the awning. I gave them the order number and they were cooperative on delivery dates. But I opted not to have them install it. I had my guy who did things around the house install it for me. I had to help him because the awning was pretty big. So, it was cumbersome but we only had to do it once.
I got three swatches which SunSetter sent out. They had two styles, one was water-resistant and the other was waterproof. Their authorized dealer explained the difference then I made my choice from there. I got the one that you plug in and came with the hand crank. I do not leave it plugged in after the winter because there was one instance where I did not hit the remote and the awning went out and retracted. So, I am a little concerned about leaving it unattended while plugged in. At another time, when I retracted it, it just moved and kind of went back and forth a couple of times. I waited for it to retract all the way and I unplugged it. I don't think the remote was stopping it. But I'm also still at a point where I'm trying to feel it out through the instructions and maybe I hit a button I shouldn't have.
Also, there's an angle on the awning by design and when it's fully extended, you can move the pitch up and down a little bit somewhere between 6 inches and a foot. So, when it's fully retracted, the end of it can go down further. I was a little disappointed that it couldn't go down any further and I couldn't make the pitch any sharper because unfortunately, there's a tree line at the end of my yard where you can do the shade. So I have to look at the manual for that. Other than that, the awning has been going as expected. I also got the aluminum cover for it so that when I retract it, the inclement weather can't harm it. If someone was going to get an awning, I'd tell them to get one of SunSetter's products rather than trying to cheap out and get one of the other ones.

He wrote down the price and asked for a big down payment. He said he needed a check for 3000 and the rest would be due upon installation. When he asked for the final price after the installation, I told him that I’m 82, I live on social security, and there was no way I could pay the whole thing. He said he was sorry but they put the awning up and they do not finance them. I talked to someone at SunSetter about it and he told me that the financing only comes if they send me the item and I put it up. But I didn’t read that so, it was very confusing. So, I went to the bank where I was able to work something out temporarily. Now, I’m paying what SunSetter had taken out of my savings in six months.
I got the motorized model and the wind construction because the awning is in the wind area. The installation went pretty well from what I could see and the only thing that disturbed me was when they shipped it, it looked perfect. But a lady friend happened to be here at the time they installed it and after they finished, she looked up at the top and told me she could see cuts in it. When I called SunSetter back, their rep said they were going to call me about that. I asked what were we going to do about it and that was when he ordered a new one. Then they came out and redid the whole thing.
The awning looks perfect now. It’s out most of the time because it’s a protector for the animals going around in the morning if there should be raining and what have you. If it does rain heavily, I bring it in automatically so the water doesn’t sit on the top. I would tell my friends that SunSetter is by far the best. It’s a lot better than what I had in that bigger house all screened in and sun all the time. I also like this very much because I have the picnic area out there and I would tell anybody who asks me or comes out and looks at it to go with SunSetter if they can.

Sunsetter is a national brand. I ordered our awning and I called back like a week later to change the color and they were able to accommodate that without charging me extra, so I really appreciated that. They were responsive. We purchased a motorized awning and it's the maximum size that one can get -- that was one of the things we liked about them, too. Ours is like 15 or 18 feet long or 13 feet long. Their team installed it for us. The awning is on my pool deck and we sit under there on our lawn chairs. The glare and the light can be too hot when it's the high point of the summer. Also, the salesperson, who was assigned to our region, was pretty great, too. He also did my neighbor's house and they were pleased with him as well. Overall, they were great.

I bought a new house and wanted to cover the back porch. So, I bought an awning and the SunSetter team was great. I was able to pick the color and everything. There was a little confusion as to what side to put the motor on but they fixed it easily enough. It also broke at one point. They said it was a manufacturing defect because it wasn't super windy and it just snapped. We had owned it for three months then. They came and repaired it under warranty. There was a little confusion about the right parts getting ordered so the repair took a couple of weeks but nothing that crazy. Having the awning changed our outdoor activities and created a whole new other outdoor room. We use it all the time. If someone asked me where we got it, I would recommend SunSetter.

SunSetter Awnings was advertised on TV and I liked the ad. I talked to their rep on the phone and he sent me the information. I didn’t want to spend the money to enclose my back patio with screening and a roof and the SunSetter Awnings sunscreen serves the purpose for me. I got a motorized model but there was a problem with the installation. I have a brick wall and the screws that were originally given to me were not long enough to get into the wood section. Fortunately, I have a man that has been doing work for me and he got longer screws to put in to hold up the sunscreen. Also, the box was damaged. The delivery people would not deliver it to me until they checked back with SunSetter to make sure everything was okay before they delivered the final project to me but it was not a problem.
SunSetter did a great job. The awnings are wonderful and I have enjoyed every minute I’ve had it. I can sit outside and be in my garden. But one thing I have to be very careful with is the high wind we have down here. I’m in the southern tip of Texas and on a golf course, so I have to make sure that I have the awnings down when the wind comes up.

We've had SunSetter Awnings for 10 years. I enjoyed it but it was too difficult for me to put out and back in by myself. If I had been able to put it back in, the metal thing wouldn't have broken because we had a bad storm and a lot of water got on it, and the wind whipped it and it broke the bar. I called SunSetter about getting another one. And because my husband passed away and he isn’t here to put it out, I got the automatic awning where I push the button and it goes out. It's much easier and I can use it.
SunSetter’s team was very nice. They're in another town but as soon as I called them, the man called me back and then I told them what I was looking for. He sent somebody out right away to measure my deck and tell me all about the different things and what I would want. During installation, the guys couldn't put it where the other awning was because the deck in our little porch didn't have enough space. So, they had to mount it on top of the roof and I wasn't happy with that because I didn't realize that when they did it, the rain was going to run right down in front of the door. I had to go and buy a gutter to go across to catch the rainwater so it wouldn't run down on my head. But the installers did a good job and they did it when they said they would.
The SunSetter awning is blue and black and it has blue, black and white lines on it. It’s 12 feet over my deck. In the summertime in Florida, I keep it out as much as I can because the difference between sitting on the porch in the heat and sitting under the awning is at least 10 degrees. It's really nice and I really enjoy it. The awning that I had before lasted so long and I recommended that to a lot of people. Now, since I've had the motorized one, I would recommend it too.

I had always wanted an awning but I was working. The kids were home plus the deck had also been repaired and painted so I went ahead and got one. The SunSetter team was very nice and helpful. They have someone here in Newberry who put the awning in so I didn’t have to hunt for somebody to put it in. The installation went very smoothly as well. The awning is very heavy, sturdy and pretty and it’s a beige-and-green. I also like the stuff the awning is made out of. Mostly we have a nice breeze but sometimes we have a nice wind and I like the fact that it retreats back into the holder automatically when the wind picks up. The cover is very nice-looking too. The awning is on the east side of my house where the sun is unmercifully hot till about 1 o’clock and I would recommend the awning for shade. I would tell friends to come on over and sit under mine too. I’m looking forward to the good weather and getting some nice furniture to put on the deck.

Also, my sister had one installed and I liked hers and the performance of hers. The lady who came and did the measurements did a phenomenal job at that time. She was so nice, very pleasant, and she had a lot of information. I was very impressed with her. But when I called to see when the awning was going to be installed, she didn’t respond and I thought it was a little odd. Her voicemail box was full and I tried several times, and she never returned my calls.
Her husband and another fellow came to do the installation. They called first and said when they would be here, and they were great. They were very neat and did a very smooth job. Also, the lady who took the order told me that my sister will get a hundred dollar gift card and my sister never got it, and I never called them back. The team that came in and put the awning up was very good. They moved my patio furniture off and quickly put up the new awning and explained how to use it. My house has brown and beige bricks, so I got a brown and beige awning and it looks nice. I put it on for beautification, to make the house look pretty. My back porch is like a front entry and it looks really nice when I let the awning out and when I leave it open. I love my SunSetter awning so much. When I got it, it was like Santa Claus brought me something on Christmas. But I haven't had a good chance to use it yet because it was cold when I got it. But the experience of confirming our installation time and date was not favorable. On the day of installation, I had my maintenance waiting all day. I finally called and asked them where they were and they said they didn’t have me in the book. It was a little frustrating. I had an awning from SunSetter once before. I had it for over 25 years and never had any problems with it, so I thought I'd try a new one. The old one was smaller, so I thought I would get a bigger one which had a remote out and in. I went online, talked to the SunSetter team and found that there was a dealer that sells it here where I live, so I went and talked to him and I ordered one. It’s motorized and white with black stripes in it. It’s 18 or 20 feet wide or long when it extends out. It’s attached to the outside of the house. I got it last fall and the company I bought it from installed it. I would tell my friends that it's a very good awning. It’s overpriced, but they’re good ones. However, they could get a better price someplace else. I paid about $4,000 for this and it’s not worth it. I won’t get another one at that price.

Our patio did not have a cover on it. And sometimes, it would be nice to shade it from the sun in the early evening. So we decided, “What the heck, we’ll go ahead and do it.” SunSetter was the only one that we knew about. The owner was the one who came out and talked to us. When he talked to us, it seemed like a logical thing to do. He was very knowledgeable. I purchased a cover that was heavy-duty when stretched out, and that was over 14 feet long -- it is the longest one that they make. It is also motorized. They installed it and it went fine. The only thing that I had to do myself was they let the cords just hang. That was kind of an unpleasant thing, it almost looked like an unfinished job, so I had to hire somebody else to come out and tuck that in. I suggest that they hide those cords because it is doable.
They were able to mount to an overhang which already protected from the wind and everything. I probably would have reservations if it had to be installed on top of a roof because then it would be exposed and I would have to buy extra stuff to cover it. We are using the awning leisurely. When we will have a dinner or the people are over there at the fireplace which is just beyond the awning and the sun’s out and bright and beating down, we just open that up. Also, what was really good was that after it was up, just a short while, it kept coming out on its own. And they came out, no questions asked and installed a new wind sensor. It has worked well ever since. The awning is nice in the summer and I recommend them.

They go out and grill a lot, and they enjoy it.
I told my friends that we enjoy our awning. We had a problem this past week, though. One side was lower than the other. And we didn't understand how to straighten that out, and if somebody needs to come out and adjust it or if there was some adjustment to it. My son-in-law hasn't opened it back up since we saw the problem since we're going to have some storm windows put in. And they're going to be going around the house, so we wanted to leave it closed in case they came while we were away. SunSetter told us to call them and they would take care of an issue. None of us paid much attention to it because the awning was new. But I'm sure they will get it taken care of. They've been very good about things like that.

We use it for shade and Sunsetter was recommended by the guys who installed it. We recently got a motorized one with a remote, and it is pretty sweet. My only issue, and it has nothing to do with SunSetter, is that the people who installed it wouldn't do the electrical part of it. They just would plug it into an outlet and I had to run it through the wall like an on/off switch. But the product itself is fine, and it was installed as it was designed. It is attached to the house so when it's during the summer, on the hot days, we just like to shade our deck with it. It's on a deck with a view, so it's mainly for lounging around or entertaining.

We'd always had an awning but none that we could roll up, so it was always out there and we'd take it off for the winter season. When I saw the SunSetter advertisement, I thought that it might be a good idea. We got a motorized awning and the original guys that put it up didn't do a very good job. As they were about to leave and I was trying to walk into our house, the awning was rolled out and I couldn't even get into my house. We don't have a sliding door. I called them just as they were ready to leave and said they had to come back. So, they had to raise it a little so that I could open my door to get into the house. They should have seen that. They never even tried to open the door, and that was not a good idea.
When I called back, SunSetter sent us another team and they did a terrific job. They took off the awning and then put some extra wooden boards because we have siding. I also had to call back because the arms made an awful lot of noise when they folded up, and then they were shaking quite a bit. So, that setting wasn’t correct at the beginning, but the second team corrected all that. I would recommend SunSetter as long as they get the right people to install it.

I've also compared quality of awnings at Lowe's and Home Depot, and it seems SunSetter was the better quality from what I saw because of the acrylic and the way their fabric is woven. A couple of guys came with all the parts in boxes, unboxed them and put it on the house. A couple of young guys seemed to know what they were doing and the installation didn’t take too terribly long. There had been some strong winds but the awning was still attached and works fine. We have the motorized awning and there's a white cord on it. The mechanism is good.
The awning is custom-made so it seems like it takes a long time to get it. Once you get it, you have a choice of 20 fabrics but you don’t get a choice of the color of the wire that they plug it in with. That is ridiculous. With the rest of it being customized and special order, that’s an interesting oversight on their part from a marketing perspective. Instead of me getting on the roof, rewiring the motor and putting my own cord in it, it was going to be like, “You can paint it.” But why didn't they all paint it before it got here? They're very expensive and the bright white wire looks like crap. They need to offer black, white, brown, and grey cords on these things because everybody’s house isn’t the same color.
Other than that, we recommended SunSetter to other people. We tell them to come look at our awning and that they'd like it. We use it for both for sun shading and for light rain. If we're sitting out there and it starts to sprinkle rain a little bit, we'll put the awning out a few feet so that we don’t have to run right in. It's facing due east. Depending on what time of day we're out there, we might have to put the awning out to keep the sun off of us.

I purchased a home that already had SunSetter Awnings, so they mailed me information about this account. I knew that SunSetter was one of the major companies providing awnings so I didn’t investigate any other companies.
The previous homeowners had a manual unit and even though they left me the instructions, I probably needed parts for it. Also, the instructions for setting up the awning didn't make any sense to me. I had family over and they couldn’t make sense of it either. We couldn’t even get the awning open and we’re not sure how long it has been closed up. A friend of mine told me to open the awning at least once a year to make sure I clean it, even with the electronic remote control one. If I were to recommend SunSetter Awnings to people, I would tell them to buy the automated, remote control unit.
So, I ordered a new unit from SunSetter. I did everything over the phone and the sales team didn’t have to come out. I had the previous owner's name, so SunSetter had all of my information in their system. They already had the measurements of the previous unit in their system, so they knew what size I needed. Plus, I had enough materials. I had responded to a flier and they had sent me all the materials that I needed, so I was able to pick out the fabric the way that I wanted it.
When I ordered the awning, they said that it was easy to install it myself. But when they delivered it, I saw how heavy it was and I didn’t think I was going to be doing that. The weather is still cold here, so I haven’t looked into installing it yet and I didn’t know if I need to call a local retailer in Maryland to arrange an installation appointment or call SunSetter's 800 number back. Nevertheless, SunSetter's service was great and very helpful overall.

The guy that I ordered the SunSetter from came in and put it up. And it was done in one day.
I used my SunSetter awning this past summer when it was really hot and at first I had a problem with it because the remote wasn't working and it ended up that it just needed new batteries. But the guy came and took care of it and it works fine. It's automatic. I have a remote and a side panel on one side and I think I'm going to have to get another one for the other side because the sun comes through both ends. So I'm going to have to spend more money and get another side panel. My awning works for the purpose that I needed it. It's a little expensive. I didn't really plan on spending that much and, of course, I had to pay extra for him to come and install it but otherwise it's very nice and it works.

I wanted to sit on my patio and got a motorized 20-foot awning from SunSetter. When my dog goes up or uses the bathroom and I don’t want the sun on me, I let it out. It's beautiful and all the neighbors ask about it. The only thing I don’t like about it is the loud noise it makes when it shuts all the way, but that’s just how it has to be. The installers were quick, fast and informative. They did a wonderful job.

The sun comes to my living room and an awning was a good way to block it. I did my research and found out that SunSetter was very reliable. The guy who came was very professional. He took his time telling and explaining things and all the different materials that he had. And then the follow-up was excellent whenever I call on when it's going to be ready, when it's going to begin installation. Everything was good. The installation crew explained to me how it works. My awning is dark brown and it's with white lines. It's a good product and it serves the purpose.

I was going to build out the roof of my house and needed an awning to come out from the house instead. SunSetter's awnings didn't have any support posts so I chose them. Their representative was helpful and did a good job. I had to go with a motorized model as the awning was too big for people to roll out. While the awning tries to pool up if I have it out because the house is too short, it still works well in blocking the sun.

The SunSetter rep was a nice guy, and the installation guy came when he said he was going to and got the job done without any difficulty. They were very good people. Our awning is powered and it works fine. We couldn't use the deck at the back of the house before because the sun was so intense, and we roll the awning out so we can eat and cook out there. Everything has been positive.

My daughter gave me a SunSetter awning as a present for my birthday and I absolutely love it. I can extend it about 2 feet out. My pets can sit under the awning and not get wet, and it has provided the perfect shade. I’ve used it and there has been no glitch. It’s as smooth as it can be. It will be a year in July since we've had it and it’s holding up great. I haven’t extended it because it’s been in the wintertime. We get a lot of snow and that’s too heavy for it. But I use it quite a bit it in the summertime. It changes the whole temperature of my main room.
When the reps came to install it, they were perfect. There was no problem whatsoever and it didn’t take them very long, about 30 to 45 minutes. My house is an older house and the rep said he hadn’t run into a wood that hard in a long time. So, there was a bit of trouble piercing the wood. But other than that, everything went smoothly. They couldn’t have been more polite. They showed me how to work it and showed me how to work it with the little hand-handle if I wanted to. They were great and they were on time.

I have a cabin up in the mountains and I wanted to block out the sun. The west sun made it impossible to use the area. SunSetter's prices were good and the people were nice. The installer was outstanding. He ended up having to rehab my soffit to make it work, and he wouldn't leave until he had it right. As soon as I called them and got it put in, everything was usable again. I want another one that’s a little bit bigger and longer, and they’re going to install it in May. The one that’s there now, they’re going to move it to the back. Then I’m going to put a bigger one on that west wall, and I’m going to put another one over the little door that I have over there. SunSetter is the best and I wouldn't use anybody else.

I got a SunSetter awning to use for shade when it's sunny. Their track record shows they have a very good product. The awning itself is no problem. I paid and the first time it didn't operate because it was not programmed correctly from the factory. So the motor would not work correctly. And the second time after they fixed it it did the same thing again. So they finally ordered a new motor for me and now it works perfectly well. It took about 2 weeks to get the new motor. We paid about $3,000 for it. And so that was very disappointing to me that it was two trips out here to go ahead and finally give me the finished product.

I have had skin cancer since 1984 and I’ve not had much use of my deck because I can’t sit out there with skin cancer popping up. I saw an awning advertised on the television and I thought, “That would be cool.” I won’t have to sit in the sunshine and I can get the breeze blowing. I called SunSetter Awnings and everything went okay. A man from Baltimore came over and talked to me. And within a couple of days, they came and installed it. If anyone I know is interested in it, I would tell them that SunSetter is a good company to work with.

We're re-doing our deck and putting in some new furniture. We bought a motorized SunSetter awning and their distributor did a good job. The people we dealt with were responsive to our request for a quote, and the quote was attractive. Then the fellas came for the installation and they were efficient. They got the job done. The awning is over the top of a sitting area and we'll use it either for sun or rain. It was a good experience and I would recommend them.

We've been using our cottage a lot more, and in the deck, we were sick of the umbrella table being blown over, so this past year we thought we’d try the awning. SunSetter was the company that installed awnings locally and we had seen their advertisements. We've been looking at them for a few years and we liked what we saw, so we purchased from them. The two gentlemen who came were excellent. They were at our location before we even got there and started on it. It didn’t take them long to set up the awning. There were also no mess, damages or problems after the installation.
We've had the awning for almost a year and we've only used it for two months, and it worked great last year. It takes a beating up there with the wind coming off the lake, but the awning looks good and seems to be holding up fine. It was a good experience with SunSetter. Anyone who's thinking about putting an awning should not be afraid to do it with them.

We have an awning at home and we needed one for the beach. SunSetter has a good price, good value and a nice product. Their team was great and they matched the price that we were looking at. They were really accommodating and they came out quickly and did a great job. Everything went well with the installation and it didn't take long. The installers were neat. The awning is of a solid color and it's motorized. We got a lot of sun at the beach, so we opened it half of the day when we're down there and it works quite well. I would definitely recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We bought this house in June, which is the heat of the summer in Alabama, and moved up here from Florida. The sun sets in the west, which is through our backyard and the back porch, and I needed an awning there to give some shade if we're going to sit down on the summertime. So, we purchased awnings from SunSetter. But it's not doing what I hoped it would do. It wasn't big enough. About 3 o'clock in the afternoon, there was nothing but sun on the deck. That was the largest extension that would go out. They make them a little bit wider but they don't go out any further. If SunSetter would be customizing it, I needed it to go out and buy another two or three feet. Also, it took three orders and three times for the installers to get the right size awning up there but they were great people to deal with and stuck with the program.
I had a salesman come out and measure and then they took it back to the office, turned the measurements in and they hooked it up with the one that they have to order. They give you the size, widths, and length, how far it will go out and so forth, and that's the one we marked. But the person at the office didn't get the right order in. We weren't able to use the awning in the summertime. It took about a month to get here and it was in the Fall when it came. So, we'll make use of it this Spring. In the future, I'd like for them to make one that extends out further up. I'd have to get a customized one but I don't know if they do customize because they have a chart which tells you the dimensions. So, you try to get from there to fit your patio. I'd like to be able to order based on what I want and not on what they can make.

I spent over $2,000 on the 8 x 10 beige shade from SunSetter Awnings and it looks tacky. We bought it for shade over a table to barbecue and eat outside, and time is so valuable now that I got one bid and went with it. I made the mistake of not getting at least another bid from another company in Overland, Missouri. It was really disappointing that when we ordered the electrical wiring with the awning so we can just use the remote control, there is a cord on the left side that comes 10 feet down to plug into an electrical outlet on the house. It looks ugly. That is exposed and there's nowhere to put that unless you hire an electrician to put it under a conduit and they wouldn't pay for an electrician to do that. It would probably cost me a couple of hundred dollars to hire one because electricians charge a lot to cover it properly for the weather. So we had to put a lunch baggy around the prongs that plug into the wall for storage for the winter on the window sill.
Before a customer orders one of those, they should go through the process of visualizing where the electrical cord is going to be for the customer so that when we get it, we're not surprised. The best thing we could have done was to order the awning without electric because we can hand crank those things. They also advertised that they have a cover to put over the awning for the winter. But they had a hard time installing that so they might want to improve upon that as well.
The salesman was all right and the installers were as nice as they could be. But they didn’t have a solution because the boss didn’t have a solution. They didn’t want to put in any extra money to hire an electrician to hide that cord to make me happy. They didn’t want to be responsible for that. I was surprised 'cause this thing cost a lot of money and I'm not real happy with it. They took off $200 the total cost instead. Still, it was a bad experience.
Dear Pat,

I had a very good experience with SunSetter Awnings. They have a good reputation, and when the team came out, they were very good. The awning is motorized and is a yellow and a brown. But the plug is a two-sided thing and you have to put the three-prong in there. I have to get on my hands and knees and hold the cover up. That design is very poor and it's a pain in the butt. But everything else works. We've used the awning and it's wonderful. Unfortunately, the awning was up when we had that windstorm and we were not home. The whole pole came out of the side of the house so I have to call my representative. Nonetheless, I'm happy with everything.
