I got a SunSetter awning when I went through Costco and read the reviews. The team at SunSetter was awesome and the installation experience was excellent. The installers got the installation done in a day. They were a great team of men and were very polite. I was very pleased and referred them on. The awning is over the deck. I got the biggest one that SunSetter has, which is 20 feet. I have the burgundy stripe in it. And then on the front windows, I also have two motorized awnings and another two that go on four windows in the front of the house. I love my SunSetter awnings.

We’re on the penthouse of a building and we get direct sun. During the summer, it gets to where the deck area is very hot. I’ve been wanting an awning for a while and one of my neighbors has got one and it looked good. I talked to the contractor and had one from SunSetter Awnings put in. It’s a 12 foot by 12 foot, sandstone-colored awning and it retracts and has a remote. Although they had to put the installation off a day or two because of rain, when they got to it, it took them three hours at the most from start to finish. Another neighbor has already asked and I recommended SunSetter Awnings.

Our patio was too hot. We live in a condominium community and SunSetter was the required awning. The team members who came were very positive. They answered all of our questions and they assured us that their awning would meet the requirements of our board, and it did. There was a required model. It had to be a certain color, a certain size, it had to have the wind sensor and the automatic closing on it, and we got all of that. The installation was perfect and faultless, and quick and easy. The experience was all very positive and the awning works well. We’ve already recommended SunSetter Awnings.

I purchased my motorized awning in June, 2016 and used it for 2 summers. It is now April, 2019 and I opened it for the first time this year. The motor is making a loud clunking sound. My installer came to check it out and now tells me that after paying him $3700.00 in 2016, it will cost me 300.00 for a new motor and $200.00 to install it. The 5 year warranty is a joke! I owned another one for 11 years, without a problem and with excellent customer service. Apparently, they feel they don't need to take care of their customers anymore. I will never purchase another Sunsetter and I will be sure to let everyone I know that they are terrible to do business with.

I trusted Carl who sold me my rain gutters and I liked the work they did on the gutters. When I inquired if he handled SunSetter, he said he did so I went with him as I have learned that when you go with somebody you trust and does the job, you don’t change horses. I had a great experience purchasing and setting up the awnings. It was put up late last year and we hardly ever use it, but so far, we are satisfied and everything is fine.

I have two different homes, one in Connecticut and one in Florida. With the one in Florida, SunSetter was very efficient. They followed through and did the proper job. The installers were good. But before this, I also dealt with SunSetter for my other home. If I had any complaints about the product, it would be that I would've liked something that comes down to maybe 9 feet. When my awning opens up, it comes down to 7 feet but when the sun starts to set, it comes through on the bottom half. Another two feet of material in there would've made me happier. Nevertheless, the quality of the product is excellent.

I had a SunSetter awning and because it broke, I called SunSetter Awnings again to get a new one. The first awning I had was a manual and it was terrible. It was hard to handle by myself and I could not do it. But, I have a motorized awning now. It is automatic where I have a push button and it goes out and comes back. It is very easy to use and if you’re out in the sun and it’s hot, you just open it and you’re in the shade. Moreover, it is easy to pull it back. We have a lot of storms here. My wife can also do it by herself. The SunSetter team did a very good job. The guys who came were able to take the old one down, take it away from the house and discard it. Everything was installed as it should be and they took care of my property and put everything back in order. My overall experience with SunSetter was very good and I would recommend it. In fact, I’ve had some people look at it.

My neighbor had a SunSetter awning and I liked it. The interactions with the SunSetter reps were very good. I purchased from them and they did a good job and followed up on the awning to make sure I understood it. The installation experience went very well and the installers knew what they were doing. The awning that I have is motorized and it's blue and white in color. We have two, one in the back which fits on our window and one on our front deck. We use the awnings when it's too sunny out on the deck. We also had the lights installed. Overall, I've been satisfied with my SunSetter awnings.

We bought a new home and when we were building, we did not think about how the house was situated. From early morning until around 1 o’clock, we get direct sun in our back bank of windows, and we have a lot of windows. We also like to sit in our patio and read the paper but it was just too hot. We have a market umbrella that we put out there but it was not giving us enough shade. SunSetter came recommended by the neighbors. There are probably three others in our neighborhood who have it. Then we did some research. The sales guy did fine but we got an awning that is too small. Unfortunately, when I told him what I wanted to do, he thought this would shade us. But even when the installer cranked it down to whatever degree it could go the most, it still didn't protect us.

In fact, when the installers came, they knew it right away. They said that we got a baby shade but what we needed back there was a daddy shade. We were hoping that the company would suggest to take the awning back and get us a larger shade but that was not offered. The only thing that was offered was this roll down plastic piece. They said it would slide into the SunSetter part that we have and it kinda roll down. But we would have to roll up each time. That was not satisfactory but since there didn’t appear to be another option, I guess that is what I’m gonna have to live with. We’ve ordered the extra piece online and I hope this shades us.

The sales guy also didn’t relay to me where the awning would have to be placed. It is bolted right above the window frame instead of under the eave. I was disappointed that it wasn’t emphasized to me where it would have to be installed and what it would look like, and that I didn’t go the next size up. Our installation guys were excellent though.

The house was getting too hot and my wife can’t take the heat as we get older. We liked the idea of an awning and what we saw with SunSetter Awnings. We also liked the power option versus cranking. We bought three awnings and the first and third installations were really good. However, the installer for the second one had a little bit of an attitude. He had an assistant helping him and that assistant didn’t move quite fast enough. He got mad a couple of times and that wasn’t professional. Other than that, the awnings do a nice job and they are wonderful for our house. They also last well. If you're considering to purchase a SunSetter awning, buy it. I recommend them.

I needed an awning, and I've known a couple of people who have had SunSetter. They seemed to be a good product. I won't call it inexpensive, but it was affordable, so I decided to go with that. The guy who sold the awning to me was a great guy. He was also helpful and I had a very good experience overall. The same guy came out with the installers. They got the awning up there and got it done. I even bought the cover, which I thought was a bit pricey. But I bought it to go over the awning because that side of the house gets morning sun until 1:00. Even so, they did a great job and the awning works fine.

I've had to make some adjustments in the angle at which the top comes out. But that's not SunSetter's fault because I was having a patio put in. The patio got done a month later. There was back order on the pavers and so forth and so on, so there was no way to tell how high the thing could be. But that was not a problem. I had a buddy of mine come over. I called Randy and he explained again. He explained this to me before, wanted to be sure I understood how to adjust it, and got out there and adjusted it, and decided that wasn't enough and just did a little more. It can't be adjusted much more than it is, but unless somebody was pretty big and tall, over 6'5, they'd be able to walk underneath the thing.

The SunSetter awning is a very nice product and we're happy with it. The awning is brown and I just wanted something that would do well in the weather and wasn't going to fade. The size is 20 x 11.8, the biggest one SunSetter makes. And it's 20 feet wide by 15 feet deep so it covers the majority of that. The way our house is set up and the way that side is, once the sun gets to about the 4:00 pm position, it's really not even necessary to have the awning. But it's nice just to have there in case. We're down in Florida and it's subject to rain any time. I've already had people come over and look at it. I've told them I like it.

I live in Florida and I have a west exposure, and I have a screened-in patio that we put the SunSetter awning over. But more than to keep the patio cooler, I purchased the awning because I have sliding doors to the patio and the awning keeps my family room and my den much cooler by keeping the sun off the glass. I ordered the awning, we negotiated the price and it all worked well. There was a delay in the delivery, however, and although I was told five weeks, it took almost three months. At first I thought I was getting the runaround, but it turned out that there were some shipping problems. The product finally came in January and I was very happy with it. Still, they could've done a better job of communicating what was really going on with the awning. Nevertheless, the awning is exactly what I was promised it would be and everything works perfectly well.

I have a back patio that has constant sun exposure, and we got flagpoles from SunSetter in the past, so I went back to them. I looked online and found that Randy was a contractor in my area and he was great. He came with samples and brochures and gave me a lot more information than what I got on the internet. He had to order the motorized awning and it took two weeks to come in, but everything was fine. Installing it was a lot easier than I expected and I’ve been using it on a day-to-day basis. Everybody that goes by says it’s beautiful and they love it.

Whoever did the ordering did not order it correctly, but the installation team was fine. The young people who came and installed did a fabulous job. We moved into a new house and did a nice deck, but there was no shade from the sun. I purchased a SunSetter awning, which is tan in color. We had it installed in September and the installation process was great. The installers were nice. We got the biggest awning that SunSetter has. We have a remote, and then a wind sensor, but my husband is too dumb to figure it out. We had moved from a place that had an older SunSetter awning and we enjoyed that. That was one reason we wanted to get an awning for our new house, and I was glad that SunSetter had them extra-wide because we have those wrapped around the deck.

However, when we had 11 inches of snow overnight, we heard this crash in the middle of the night. I told my husband to go back to bed since it was probably just the cat that knocked over a plant because that was what it sounded like. But when we woke up in the morning, we were totally surprised by the snow, and our SunSetter was broken. The snow broke the arm off one side, and the awning crashed through our screen on our patio door, and almost the glass. A guy from SunSetter came out and he manually closed the awning because it was at an angle. We couldn't even go out on the deck. And then, he had to order a new arm. So, the people from SunSetter are gonna come out in a week or two and repair our awning. I also asked the guy if we can install that wind sensor. I’m really excited about this wind sensor being put up. The wind sensor was a great idea because sometimes we’re not always home.

My deck is on the left side of my home, and it gets so hot on there that my grandchildren couldn't even go out there. They like to go out in bare feet, and so do I, and it was so hot that we couldn't use it. After 3 o'clock in the afternoon, there was no one out there. My husband and I had talked about having an awning, but we never got it done. Then, I wanted to get it done because I wanna enjoy it. My brother has a SunSetter awning in his backyard or over his patio, and he convinced me to get one. He loves his, and he said he has had it for quite a few years now, and he has never had any trouble with it. My brother then gave me the packet that he had, and I looked through it and decided what I liked best --- the length and everything else. I called and talked to them, and a short time later, I had it installed.

My neighbors have said how nice our awning looks when it's all open. I got the one with the remote, which is wonderful. The gentlemen who did the installation were great. I had the people from Fay's Tent & Awning because I was told that SunSetter does not usually do it themselves. Fay's Tent & Awnings had installed my brother's, and they were known to have installed quite a few of them here in this area. So, they did a wonderful job. I wanted to get an awning for my backyard and SunSetter contracts out to the local representative. Her name is Tess and when I first called her, she was quite available. She came to my house right away which was a couple of days after I called her. We set up the appointment and I gave her the deposit. Everything seemed great. About three weeks out, I called her because she told me it would be four to six weeks, so I wanted to know what was going on. I sent several emails, phone calls, messages and texts. I even sent them to one of the managers at SunSetter. I got absolutely no response from her about when my awning was coming in. I told her to cancel the order if she can't get it to me within the appropriate time, because I was having a huge party here.

I finally called SunSetter and I found out what was being shipped. I had somebody come out and install them, and that was only because I texted her and informed her when the product was arriving and that I wanted it installed the day that it was arriving. The person who came out was great but I would never deal with Tess again. I thought I got scammed and that I lost $2,000 that was just partial payments. I thought I was never going to see it and I called my credit card company at that point. They asked me if I wanted me to file a chargeback and I said yes but I called SunSetter to find out that it indeed was on backorder. All Tess had to say was it was on backorder.

I bought the automatic awning and it was beautiful when I put it out. I paid thousands of dollars for it. I have the remote control and I left it on purpose on full awning, just because I wanted to see. However, the wind factor in Las Vegas is so strong and I paid the extra money to get the automated retractable awning that has a wind sensor. It was so windy outside that it should have closed on its own. I finally thought it might get broken, so I had to close it myself. I thought about contacting SunSetter but they're just gonna put me back in touch with Tess and I don’t wanna deal with her again. I'm disgusted with this company and I'd rather hire my own person.

The awning has remained close since I got it because I'm scared that it's gonna rip if there's a wind. I'm a 64-year-old woman who has had a lot of work done on my house and this is the first time that I've ever had to deal with somebody who is so irresponsible and negligent in herself, to the point where I have $4,000 invested in an awning that I don't even use. The experience was awful, the representative was horrible and I would never recommend her nor order from SunSetter again. I saw some shades that I want but because they're made by SunSetter, I will go someplace else.

I have two awnings. I had one in Minnesota, and it had some storm damage, so I got a new one this last year. And then when I came out to my house in Arizona, I got the email about the discontinuance of the manual awning, and I thought at half price, I might as well get one for out here too and got a SunSetter. My new awning is a little more work than I thought. If I noticed that it's gonna be no rain for a number of days, we'd just set it up. But what I haven't thought about was, the wind area. Just like yesterday, I was sitting here and I had just gone outside, and it was kinda windy. I looked at my iPhone and it was 17 miles an hour. I was like, "Oh, the weather will get the awning down." If I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't have bought the awning I had in Minnesota just because it was just too big of an expenditure this year. But it's fine. I have it standing up now, and it's great. I usually have my breakfast out there and it's nice to be outside.

At one point they had some delays on the first awning. I called and they said, "The delays had nothing to do with your installer. It's entirely our fault." It was nice that SunSetter wanted to make sure that I was happy with it. They didn't pass the blame off. It worked out really nice. I'm happy with the SunSetter products. If anybody ever asked me, I would tell them to go with the one with the remote and the wind gauge.

It's on back order and I called them two weeks ago because springtime’s here. They're a good company to deal with.

About the 3rd year green mold started to appear on fabric and now just having it 5 years (a month over warranty) I called concerning mold/mildew growth and deterioration of ruffle and trim. Was told I could replace it for approx $1000 w/ installation. My original cost for product w/ install was $3500.... I did not anticipate it would need replacing in 5 years. NOT HAPPY. POOR QUALITY.

I live in North Texas, about 35 miles north of Dallas. My patio is on the north-facing side of the house so the summer sun is pretty fierce and the concrete gets hot. I wanted rain protection as well as shade. The commercials for Sunsetter Awnings always claim that it is much cooler under an awning and they show people saying how the awning allows them to use their outdoor areas in hot weather.

My awning was installed in July 2018 by a Sunsetter contractor; the two workers did a great job. I put thermometers in two shaded areas under the awning, not against a wall, one an ordinary analog, the other a digital, to find just how much cooler it was. Well, contrary to all the ads promising that it could be up to 20 degrees cooler under an awning, both thermometers showed more than 20 degrees HOTTER. I recorded temperatures over many days and at various hours each day in July and August. NEVER was it cooler under the awning than the air temperature recorded on those same thermometers when they were placed a short distance from the awning.

We had the awning installed late last summer and I was amazed with how quickly the installers did their job. They were polite, neat and clean. We got a striped awning that is power-operated. I have a deck on the back porch but at times, the sun was a little bit too strong to be sitting out in it. I like to sit outside, read books and enjoy the breeze as it’s blowing instead of air conditioning all the time so, I decided to go with SunSetter. At first, I had a problem finding someone to come put it in. My son looked it up on the computer and there was a business near Swanton, Ohio that installs them. It was a holiday weekend, so it was Tuesday morning before I called them. The young man from SunSetter was polite and did the work he was supposed to do. He gave the estimate and everything about it. So, when they came to put it on, I was prepared for the price. It was a couple of weeks till they had one in. They brought it over and the guy installed it that afternoon. We left it extended out and I learned how to work the automatic.

I left it out for several days although that was the only day that was warm enough to sit outside after that because that was in September when they installed it. It was colder and we were supposed to get in some wind and rain. I didn’t wanna take a chance on the wind bothering it, so I had it taken up. It was a day or two later that my daughter came over and I had her take some pictures of it to send over the internet. She sent some pictures, to all the rest of the kids, of it extended and then rolled it back up again. It’s been rolled up ever since and I’m waiting for summer but the quality seemed to be nice.

Our neighbors had those SunSetter awnings. I looked at those awnings and thought that if other people are having them, probably they're okay. The guy that I’ve been dealing with seemed okay until a week ago. I called and he was pretty rude to me. He said to my daughter that I’ve been a pain in the neck and I’ve had to call too many times, which is absolutely not true. I’m a teacher with a master’s degree and a guidance counselor as well. I know what’s professional and what isn’t. I was surprised by his attitude.

The reason I was calling was that I couldn’t get the awning up again. It was down and I knew it was gonna be a windy, rainy day over the weekend. It was starting to gust up a little bit so I called him. I had tried a number of times. One of the questions I was calling about was I got something in the mail about paying extra. And I was trying to tell him I would be glad to pay extra for the insurance since I live on the water. But I never got to ask him that.

I was taken back by his attitude that I never asked my question. As for the awning itself, it doesn’t work as a sun setter and I was disappointed at that. It doesn’t shade the sun. I thought it would block the sun. I have to get up every time in that room during sunset time. And then I have to go close the blinds. It’s kinda stupid. I wouldn’t recommend SunSetter awnings to a neighbor.

Our SunSetter awning is great. We moved to a new home that has a lanai. We’re in Florida and it gets hot here, but we didn’t want to cover over the lanai. We decided that getting an awning would be the best and most economical way. We had a SunSetter representative come out to the house. He and his guys did a great job. At one point about six weeks later, the awning needed some adjusting. The owner came out the next day and adjusted it. We have not had any problems since.

When the weather is nice, we roll the awning back and let the light into the house. And when it’s too hot out and the sun is too bright or it’s raining, we roll the awning out and it covers the eating area, which is exactly what we need. We are very satisfied with the decision to use SunSetter. It was a good value for the money and if we moved to a similar situation, we would definitely consider buying another one. We’ve referred the neighbors to not only get SunSetter but to also go to the same guy who installed and sold ours to us.

One side of our house faces southwest and there’s a patio out there. In the summer, masonry on that side of the house gets hot and radiates heat from the direct sun and we wanted to keep the direct sun off the house and off the patio where our cable is. We had a mixed interaction with the SunSetter Awnings salesman though. He was okay but he knew that there were only limited outlets out there to plug into and there were already claims on available outlets which were in a little hinged outdoor junction box. He said that it was not gonna be a problem but it didn’t fit well and there was some argument about what it would take to be able to plug it in.

His ultimate solution was just marginally acceptable and he came out and did some work himself. He trimmed some metal off the box. He had said that there would be an adaptor plug that he could get that would fit in there but that part was not fulfilled. The original installation was in the fall and it took about an hour. The salesman came back to solve this problem a little bit later and that took a couple more visits and several hours.

The awning is a single, fairly wide one that comes out at about 8 feet and we were skeptical that it was going to do the job adequately because it is sort of over the central part of the patio and the patio is pretty wide. Depending on the hour that we might want to use the patio and how low the sun is, the sunlight could come in on an angle and still hit the central part of the patio.

At the time, we talked about other sections needed on the last towards the right of the central section but for price purposes, we didn’t decide to go with that initially. The price was really more than what we were expecting. We left that for possible future options. It turns out we have used the awning only once. It was installed late in the fall and it provided adequate shade over the table only in the very middle of the day. Late in the day and late in the season, the sun ultimately comes under the awning. So, I don’t know what we’re going to do and we’ve concluded that it really is not a very cost-effective solution to our problem. But then again, probably nothing is. Still, we were satisfied with our overall experience with SunSetter.

We had a house fire last year, and on the back porch, the sun was too bright. We like the idea of the awning going there, and we decided to go with an automatic, tan stripe SunSetter awning. Their people came and installed it when we weren’t home and we would have been here had we known they were coming that day. When they put it in, our porch wasn’t totally in yet, so I don’t think they were thinking about how it was going to the back porch.

It's a little high, so if we let it all the way out, your head will sit on it. You also can’t hang it any higher because of the porch, the roof and the wall. Over the handicap porch, you can’t have it all the way out and have my sister coming out because it goes out so far and then it laps. The awning is so long that you can bump your head in, but that's all good because we don’t need to bring it out all the way either.

A remote control opens and shuts it, and we have a crank, but we didn’t get the winter cover for it, which my wife wants more than I do. The awning is mounted in the wall and it's so far up in there that it doesn't get wet. All in all, it seems to work fine and I’m not disappointed about it at all. I like that the awning goes back by itself when it gets really windy.

I researched this product quite a bit after trying other methods of shading our southwest facing rear deck with temporary and fixed structures which all had weather issues sails and canopies. A motorized awning with automatic wind protection seemed to me to be the best option short of a project to enclose a portion of the deck and modify our roof line. Awnings have some weather limits since they are not intended to be load bearing structures. But within those limits they could economically meet my need. To find out if this could work for you.

Number 1 the website will contain the answers to any questions you will have. Number 2 read as much on the web and YouTube videos as you can find. Number 3 look at your site and determine the size and model that would fit your needs, think about sightlines and sun angles to determine what is required. Number 4 after getting all the information decide whether you will need a contractor's help for install or if you will install or oversee the install. I am average at DIY projects and after some review of the mounting methods for the brackets was able to mount them in a couple of hours. If you select the right awning and locate the brackets level, plumb, and properly spaced per instructions you are >90% done. The actual install takes a no more than an hour with a couple of extra hands to lift and clamp the mounting bar into the brackets and adjusting the pitch.

The product is very well engineered, instructions are very detailed and hardware provided is first rate either hot dip galvanized or stainless steel. I did have to supplement the provided hardware for the brackets with some 1" long 1" diameter aluminium spacers with a slightly larger ID than the 3/8" lag bolts I found on Amazon. Because I had vinyl siding mounted on a compressible foam sheathing board. This also meant I used lag bolts 1" longer than normal for the bracket attachments.

Most of the complaints I read while researching revolved around the delivery process or a contractor install. This is a large piece of real freight not a 5 pound FedEx box, the delivery process can take 14 days after it leaves the factory and someone will need to be there when it arrives and sign for it. You also need to be able to shield it from weather until install day. It sat in my garage on a convertible hand cart for a month until I had time and weather to install it. Contractors are a mixed bag, I wouldn't think of getting one unless they had installed the product you have on the type of wall you have and you have spoken to that customer on their satisfaction.

They are a little more than than some of the other options but can be purchased with significant discounts during low demand periods of the year and larger discounts to Costco members, often with common options included for no additional costs such as the wind sensor. If a rain sensor was available I would be interested since I have low pitch installation but I can't find one yet.

I needed an awning and I wanted one that was retractable. So, I looked up on the internet and found SunSetter. I purchased from them the motorized awning that has a remote to it and the awning can be manual too. I had their installer install it and it went well. However, I had a bit of trouble with the financing because when their reps came to the house, they promised 12 months, no-interest financing. And when it came through, it was six months, so we had to cancel the whole thing and start all over. The financing part was a bit of a hassle but as far as the product, I'm fine with it and it has been good for me. I am very pleased with SunSetter.

I wanted an awning to cover my window from the sun, and I kept seeing advertisements on SunSetter. I had to be out of my mind, however, to pay $3,300 for an awning. I wanted to buy it, but I shouldn’t have paid $3,300. The installation was all right, but it wasn’t anybody that you recommend because they wanted $700 to do it and I got it done for $250. I got the automatic awning, but the automatic part has never worked and I can't get it to work. I put batteries in the little motor area and shake it, but the awning still doesn’t come in. I haven't tried calling SunSetter about it though because their guy was the one that wanted $700 to install it. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the awning, and I'm satisfied with it.

I have a porch that turns into molten lava every day and we looked at a whole bunch of different awnings. We figured that we would go with the one that seems to be well-engineered and thought-out for a major addition to the house and SunSetter was a little bit more in their premium and in the end result. The dealer we purchased it from took the money, screwed it badly to the roof, and has vanished. They didn’t communicate diddly-squat and has refused to return calls but SunSetter has been doing a great job to plug the gap. SunSetter has been fabulous and they’ve been trying to rectify what the dealer screwed up. We’re in Illinois and at the beginning of next month, the weather will be such that I’ll go out and fix it and we’ll be able to use it.

Their team was really wonderful to work with. They are a family company. We had gotten a really good remote controlled model. It was custom and when the installation team got it, they put it up really quickly. And in no time, we had the pleasure of having a cover in the backyard. We had been able to sit out afternoons during late summer in the backyard. We enjoyed it straight up until it got really cold. It was a pleasure just having the awning.

We got a big automatic awning. We had to get a new unit because the one didn’t work and we had to wait. After they got the new unit, the installation was okay. SunSetter needs to find a better way to deliver the awning to the household because my 16-foot thing is too heavy for me to carry, and the guy that bought it out couldn’t do it by himself. But other than that, I’m very satisfied with SunSetter.

My patio is in the sun from 10 o’clock in the morning until the sun goes down. With the other companies that I found, I would've had to arrange for someone to install an awning. It took me quite a while to get somebody call me back, but then as the SunSetter rep said he would do, he delivered it, took away the packing that came with it, and installed it. When a representative came here and measured, I had already decided on what size I needed. He then verified that my measurements were correct, and he explained what all the charges were and what he did, and that suited me fine. I haven't had a chance to use the awning much because it was put in late in the season. It's automatic and it has a crank so that if the electricity goes out, I can always crank it up by hand. SunSetter has a good selection of colors too.

SunSetter referred me to the local guy because we are older and couldn't put the awning up. The local company took care of it then. They were supposed to come out and then, it didn’t come in. It was kind of a hassle for a while but we finally got it towards the end of the summer. It was six weeks before the awning could be delivered. I would call and they would say that it was still backordered. So, we had to wait as well as the company that was putting it in. When we finally got it, the local company was backed up and it took a while before we got the thing up.

We got a motorized model and we told the guy where we wanted the switch to plug in but he put it on the opposite end. He said that they always go on where you’re standing and looking at the awning. We told him that we put a plug-in so they had to get a long cord and run it all the way across the awning and down the wall just to plug it in, because he didn’t put it right. It was the end of summer then and it turned cold right away but we were able to use it for a little bit. We love the awning but it was a hassle getting the thing.

SunSetter came out with this special where we could get all these free gifts. I told the local guy and he said that I would have to order and have it dropped in my driveway. So, that was a big rip-off. There's only one dealer in Omaha and they ought to offer that to the dealer also and at least we could get something from them. We paid this guy good money to do that and then, they didn't give us anything. We like the awning but the way they dealt was not right. I would tell our friends and family that we like SunSetter Awnings but I would tell them not to order it through Omaha.

I needed an awning over my garage because I couldn't get in there. If I'm walking out there, the sun would be on me morning 'til night and it would be hot. I ordered an electric awning from SunSetter. I asked them to install my awning when I was ordering it but then they told me to find someone in my local area. They told me that they didn't install the awning themselves. Also, when my SunSettter was delivered by UPS, the box itself was broken in the middle. When they sent the cover, they threw it over my fence. It landed across something that was there and so the box was bent a little bit. That time, I shoved it inside the garage. While I want to put it up, SunSetter didn't send me an installer.

I was upset with the way it was delivered because there was a break on the awning itself in the box. It was broken all the way around and they misplaced it so many times. I had to call back to find out what was going on and have you all contact them. Also, the awning I got doesn't have a bar post support. Still, I could just let it wheel on out and I didn't have to go out and crank it.

Our experience with their sales team was very good. They made their schedule flexible for when we were available, which was nice. The awning we bought extends itself and comes back in. And it has a little remote control for it.

The installers did a good job. They were in and out and in less than two hours, they were gone. The hard part was that they installed it in October and we didn’t get a whole lot of use out of it last year. They said they would give me a free metal cover for it if I had it installed then. We tried it out yesterday for the first time this year because we were getting a lot of sun in the back window. We extended it and it was great. It cut down on the sunlight coming into the back window. We like the way it looks and the way it was installed and so far, we haven't any problems with it. I’ve recommended it to a friend.

The sales rep from SunSetter was very cooperative and really accommodating. He didn’t try and oversell anything, and he actually advised against some things. He spent an hour with us, and then he did the installation himself with another person. Then he called back and asked if everything was okay. I had a neighbor who oversaw the installation for us, and she said everything was good. By the time I got home at the end of the day, it was all done.

We got the largest awning and the coloring is a blue-stripe with tan. It's electric with the remote control. We also got the cover that goes over the electrical equipment to cover it from the weather. We've opened it a few of times during the winter just to make sure that everything was okay, and I feel that it'll hold up well. My experience with the SunSetter Awnings team had been very pleasant. The representative that they sent out to give us a price quote and to go through all of the details that are involved was very courteous. Everything he said came to pass with the exception of a couple of add-ons like the wind sensor that wasn’t in the packaging when it was delivered but we got it later on. Then, they installed it the way that they said. It went up easily and quickly. They cleaned up really well too. Everything was fantastic and the product is fine. This is the second year that we're going to use it. I've still got it covered up with its winter shielding, but other than that, I've got nothing bad to say about it. I'd recommend SunSetter to anybody.

Showed up when they were supposed to and it didn't take them an hour to do the installation. The pricing was a bit misleading though. I was led to believe that I was gonna get the awning for $900. Also, they had to come back about two weeks ago to make some adjustment. The awning wouldn't open up level. It’s lower on one end than the other but the tech adjusted it and he showed me how to do it.

I like awnings. They're pretty and I enjoy them. I received a catalog from SunSetter and I had them once before but its hold got knocked by a snowstorm. I then decided to get another one and I ordered a motorized unit over the phone. The team that was supposed to come to install the new unit was terrible. They told me they were coming but they just made a big joke out of me. I got poor excuses from them until it made me wanna scream whenever I thought about them.

I ended up paying $900 to a place here in Birmingham to come and install the awning for me after it sat out there for the longest. It was pitiful. I would tell my friends and family members not to order an awning from SunSetter through the catalog because if you get a hold of the installers that I dealt with, they would treat you like dirt. However, I love SunSetter Awnings and I’ve had them for years. If I had to order again, I would order the unit from an awning company here in Birmingham.

They were very friendly and they did everything in a timely manner. The awning was installed quickly. We got a motorized awning and its quality was fantastic. I like its wind sensor which actually worked. Anybody who is exposed to a lot of wind should really look into that. It's more costly but I think people should get it because if the arm snaps, or something rips, then the awning would just turn into a costly thing. If the wind sensor goes off, then it really shouldn't be out.

I have purchased 3 Sunsetter Awnings in the past 18 years. Large one attached to my house partially covers my desk. Worked great and then damaged during Superstorm Sandy so I replaced it with another awning from Sunsetter. I also have an additional free standing unit I use at a vacation home. During recent renovation work a small part was damaged and needed replacement on my home awning. Trying to get the replacement piece from Sunsetter was a horrendous experience, several frustrating phone calls later and I finally gave up.

The awning itself is great but service was pitiful. Things occasionally go wrong and when needed I always had heard “After the sale it is the service that counts”, unfortunately Sunsetter does not seem to believe that which is very disappointing. FYI, I ended up finding the part on eBay and got what I needed for $15.00. Sad that for a $15.00 part Sunsetter has lost a customer for life. Beware -nice product, zero customer service with any issues.

I sit out there and eat breakfast and lunch when the weather is just right, and sometimes, I would also eat my supper there. However, I don't know how many times SunSetter had to come out because of the attachment that will automatically bring the awning in if there's high wind. They couldn't seem to make it work. They would put it on, it would work once, but once they leave and I would try to do it, it wouldn't work. We thought that purchasing an awning would be something nice for our patio and we went with SunSetter as they were reputable in all the ads. However, I was not very happy with the situation and I don’t know if I would even recommend SunSetter to anyone else. I was supposed to get a canvass cover for the awning which was part of my purchase pay but they said that they were out of production. Our dealer couldn't give me an answer and I can’t blame him because he just does the dealing.

I called consumer services and the first girl was very rude. She never said she was sorry that I was not getting my cover and that it was just not in production so I would just have to wait. I talked to a supervisor, and he wasn’t much better. He just said that it was in production and had to be tested, but they don’t know when we were gonna get it. I said that that was part of what I paid for. He said that he was sorry and that they'll ship it to me whenever they get it, and that was the end of that. I said that we don't live there full time and I needed it before we go back to our home state. Also, someone needs to show my husband how to put it on. He suggested they drop it off and maybe a neighbor could let it go in the backyard. I said, “Absolutely not. What kind of business is this?” So, that part of it has not been pleasant. I could have been handled a lot differently or given some compensation. Other than that, the SunSetter awning had been installed.

We have 13 impact windows and it's hot so we called some blind companies out here but they couldn't screw into the doors. So my aunt recommended trying the awnings. My aunt and uncle had ordered so many types of things in their house from a company and said that Richard, their rep, was good and that I should call him. I called Richard and he had a couple of different brands wherein he recommended SunSetter. He said it was the best. Although I should've shopped more, he gave us a great deal. He came highly recommended and I trusted what he recommended.

We got a retractable SunSetter awning and had it put in the back. The people from Richard's company came to install the awning for us. It was part of the package when we bought it. When the awning was installed, it was a little crooked. They came back a couple of weeks later to adjust it, so, that was good. I hope it doesn't happen again. But other than that, everything else has been good. The awning has been protecting the house, so it keeps the house a lot cooler during the day.

I was a little worried and thought that the awning looked a little tacky at first. Some of the pictures look like something people would have in a trailer. It's retractable and the idea of it was so weird to me. But actually, it looks so nice and it adds some value to our home now. The material of the awning is nice. Also, the color that we got looks good and I like the pattern. It has a lot of charm, character and color. The awning is also in a good spot and it blocks the sun. It's a win-win situation. In the commercial that I had always seen, the SunSetter awnings were always with old people who were sitting outside in their porch, and I thought the commercials were cheesy and weird. But the awnings are awesome and I love them. It's a good product. Although they are expensive, it'll be worth it in the long run and we'll be saving electric bills.

I purchased 2 solar powered shades and one manual shade in 2015/2016. I love the shades, they do exactly what I want them to do and the solar option was great as it kept me from having to run electric power to the shades. However, as I found out a year later, the solar panels stopped working on both units. The solution from the factory is to charge me, at that time, $100 each to send me the panel, me install it, and return the old panel to them.

Well the new panels worked for another couple of years. Now one of the panels has stopped working again and the solution is they will send me another new panel for $120, it was going to be $170 but they gave me a ‘break’ due to prior issues. There is clearly a problem with their supplier of the solar panel/battery units if they are not working for more than a couple of years. They say that they are designed to last at least three years, but they don’t. Be warned, if you buy the solar powered shades you may want to consider the warranty as long as it is less than the cost of replacement of the panel assembly. You will also have to replace it yourself. And in my case the unit is on a window 20’ up from graveled sloped ground :(. It’s really a shame because the shades are great otherwise.

I got the biggest one they got to protect my car and my wife’s car. It’s 20 feet wide, and then 17 feet comes out. Aside from the paint, it protects the interior too because the sun did a lot of damage. So, I got it for the summertime only. I have seen SunSetter at Costco and in TV and the two guys who came out were cooperative, nice and friendly. I had no problems with them and they did everything I wanted. Everything came out good and I’m happy. Everything went smoothly and they did what they promised. Also, they gave me the Costco discount which was a big help.

We got a reference from a neighbor for SunSetter awnings. We have two awnings. The awning upstairs is much smaller than the other one and it doesn’t have an issue with coming in whenever it’s really windy. The other awning is a bigger one. When the arm of that bigger one broke during a windstorm, we told SunSetter about it and they said we had a limited warranty and we had to go through our insurance company which we did. We then just went ahead and got an awning through SunSetter again, but this time it was with a full warranty. The installation was fine and I’m hoping that the quality of is good.

Their people were very nice about coming out and they took down the arm for us. That was good. They came back to adjust the wind motion thing on the bigger awning although it still seems a little iffy so I might have to have them come back and do it again. Unlike the smaller awning, this one moves around a lot and we end up just putting it in ourselves even though we have a motion sensor on it. But other than that, SunSetter's people were very easy to deal with. We also got that thing that rolls down. It’s a shade that comes out to block the sun and everything. We really like that part and we use that a lot. It comes out when the awning is out. If anybody wants to invest in a SunSetter awning, it’s a good product.

I ordered and had installed an awning back in August 2018 and was told that I would receive a free cover. When the installation contractor arrived, he did not have the cover, and told me it was on back order. After contacting him several times, he told me I didn't want it anyway because it was garbage. I told him I did want it. He then told me I had to contact Sunsetter's directly because there wasn't anything else he could do for me. So I proceeded to contact the corporate office several times. The person I spoke to on the phone was very rude and told me I had to contact the installation contractor because there was nothing SHE could do for me. I finally reached someone at the corporate office who promises to send me the cover right way. That was over a month ago, and guess what? NO COVER YET! THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! I am hoping that this message finally gets someone's attention so I do not have to take my complaint further.

I found SunSetter's customer service to be extremely business-like and very easy to do business with. The first installation of my awning was a disaster. I was given the name of an installer who did not install and subcontracted to another outfit. That other outfit was horrible. I refused payment on my credit card for these people. I then got an envelope with a SunSetter-approved installer’s phone number so I called them. They came very promptly and they said that everything was all wrong with the initial installation. The bolts used to install the brackets were wrong. The device that senses the wind and retracts the awning was wrong. The awning itself was ripped. They rectified all the things that were wrong. My awning has been installed and it’s entirely satisfactory. I would highly recommend SunSetter and also the second installer I got. I would warn others against the first installer I had.

I have a condo and I have a small deck. There’s a wooden deck over the top of mine and I could not go out there on my deck and relax without the rain coming through and all the dirt from on top. A neighbor had a SunSetter awning and was very satisfied with it. The awning looked very nice to me and I’ve seen the advertisements many times for many years. When I got an advertisement in the mail, I called the number. The customer service team were the Gibson’s and they were very extremely nice and explained everything very well.

I looked at a more expensive awning but it had to go by the rules and regulations of the condo. I ended up getting a cheaper SunSetter awning. But I’m very satisfied with it. It’s guaranteed for five years and I’m sure that’s all I need. But the installation of my awning took a while. Since I'm in a condo, I had to get permission. Once I got that, the installation went very easily and swiftly. I would tell a friend to come and see my awning. I love it. It saves me a lot of work from cleaning every time I go out.

I've had a couple of friends that had SunSetter and we wanted to get one. We have a pool in the back and we wanted an area there shaded. When I ordered my awning, I got the automatic sensor that rolled the awning up in inclement weather, and I never left it down. We went away one day and a thunderstorm came up. When we got back, the awning hadn’t rolled up and it was collapsed to the water and was broken. Then, when I called my guy that we bought it from they wouldn’t stand by it, but they compromised with me. They said I've had to pay $365 to have it fixed and part of it replaced. So, I had that done and I paid the money and got another awning out there. I thought that was a bad deal, but that was the best that they gave me.

I have that sensor on here now, but I wouldn’t trust it again. I wouldn’t go away and leave my awning down. We brought it down a couple of times to see that it worked. We checked out the sensor, and the next time I went out, the sensor part was on the ground. So, that wasn’t installed very good either. Overall, we're not too happy with it. It's a nice unit, but things just weren’t done right.

We built a deck on the south side of our house this summer and it was too hot to sit on there without any kind of shade and we couldn’t put a roof over the deck, so we just decided to do an awning instead. I read the reviews online and decided that SunSetter Awnings sounded like a company to go with. The guy that we purchased it from was very helpful and the two guys that came and installed it were here and gone in two hours and everything was ready to roll. We got the motorized, extra-large awning and we have no complaints about the quality. I’ve told multiple people that we have a SunSetter awning and that it is really good.

I figured that an awning was less expensive than adding on a whole screen and porch. It just looks easy to operate and easier than buying a gazebo-type canopy. It also adds some environment to a plain deck. A representative for SunSetter, who was a with the third party, came out. He was very nice, was easy to deal with and was fair. He also happened to be a contractor-installer with the third-party company. He and his team installed my awning.

They were excellent and the installation went very smoothly. They were quick and thorough. They stayed here long enough and they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to just get in and get out. They answered every question I had and they also showed me how to operate everything which was a good thing because there was an issue with opening the door when the awning was extended. They fixed that. One of the guys even offered to install the hook for the motor on my inside door here so it would always be handy. He did that voluntarily which was a little above and beyond.

I had an aluminum rollup awning for years and it was pretty well worn but they don’t make those anymore. When I saw SunSetter's ad on TV, I thought I’d try it. I had a little problem to begin with though. I ordered it in July but it was lost in transit for a month and when it arrived, the package was damaged. So I had to reorder and it took three weeks again. It wasn’t SunSetter's fault that it got lost in transit. That was UPS. But the whole experience was quite troubling. It took me two months to get the awning in the house and it got here quite late. It was in the fall when the weather was changing already.

The number SunSetter had to call for the installation was a disaster as well. It was about 50 miles away and they were really expensive. So I had a local carpenter and his helper put the awning up and saved myself about $300. The awning is up on my front window now but it would be a little better if it was tipped on the end. But I understand there is a way to do it and I would contact SunSetter when the weather changes. That aside, the product seems all right and it's holding up fine so far.

We've got a deck at the back of our house that faces the South, and we wanted to get a SunSetter for it. We saw the ad on the television and called them. They said that they would be sending a rep from Jacksonville, North Carolina, but we're in Kinston, North Carolina. They sent a rep over and we showed him what we had. I asked him if he was sure that the SunSetter was gonna work. I said to him that in the morning at 9 o'clock, the sun comes in from the East, and there’s sun on that deck then. At 12 o'clock and at 5 o'clock, there’s sun on that deck, only in a normal Daylight Saving Time hours. He agreed, so I got a 14 x 11 x 4 XL with the motorized motor. He knew we had the storm coming and it delayed the installation of the SunSetter when it came available because it went back ordered. They told me that the sample that we picked out was one of the popular samples, so there was a delay in actions.

SunSetter called us and said they were ready to put the awning up. The salesman told me that the installer wanted to put it on the siding of the house. Wwhen the installer came, he said that it needed to go on the siding of the house. I told him that the vinyl on the siding of the house has been there for 26 years and I don't want the SunSetter mounted on the siding because it could very well crack because the sun has been on it that long and the vinyl does over a period of time. He said that he won't put it up unless it was done this way. He added that he didn't like the idea of being told one way to put it up and then another way I described. So I told him to put it that way if he thought it was the best.

He put it up in the middle of the day and it was kinda cloudy. He couldn't tell what it was gonna do, so I told him that the installation was good, and then he went through the motions of how it works. The next day, I didn't get a chance to put it out at 9 o'clock because I had an early doctor's appointment. The day after the doctor's appointment, it was really sunny, just like being at the beach. I put that thing out at 9 o'clock, and it didn't have any shade at all. I run it back out at 12:00 and still no shade. I did the same thing in the afternoon, but we only got a little shade which was 4 feet from the back of the house. My wife had to take chairs and put them against the wall of the house to get some shade, but her legs were still in the sun.

I immediately called the people that put it in down in Jacksonville and told them what was going on. I was told that they found it hard to believe. I asked the guy if he was calling me a liar and told him I need to talk with somebody higher up than him, so he said that he would talk to the President of the company down there. They sent one of their tech reps up here a week later because we have another storm coming. He came over promptly at 9 o'clock. The SunSetter was completely out, he asked where the shade was and I told him that was what I was talking about. He told me upfront that I have no tress on the back of my house and that the SunSetter will not work to my perks. I asked him if it would work, but he said that he was going back to the office in Jacksonville and talk to the people there. He went back down there and I didn't get any answer from them.

A day or two went by and nobody was giving me a follow up. I called them and talked to the receptionist. I told her that I need to talk to the President of the company because the product is not working and I want a full refund. According to SunSetter's packet that they sent us, we can get our money back if we're not fully satisfied. I looked at the bottom of the contract that I signed, and it says, "non-refundable." When I talked to the President about it and told him that the SunSetter was not working, he said that they were not responsible for the SunSetter. He said that they're the dealership. I told him that I dealt directly with SunSetter, and they sent me a package and people from the dealership to talk to us about selling us the product and installing it. I expected him to honor what their contract is from SunSetter.

He only said sorry that it didn't work out, but it was non-refundable. I told him that I feel like they took advantage of me and my wife. I told him that the guy that sold us the SunSetter did not say anything about that it was non-refundable because I wouldn't have bought that SunSetter. I even thought about contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General, but I'm not gonna go out and waste my time. It was a bad experience and I will not recommend SunSetter to anyone. People that will buy this product should be aware of what they're getting into.

Don was the one who did our first SunSetter awning and the job was great. He sent a couple who put it up and they were fabulous. It was wonderful and we never had a problem for five years. But it got within a fire so we were replacing it. We got an 18-foot one rather than an 11-foot. It is motorized and it’s the same color as the last time. It’s like wheat with the stripe in it.

But this time, we weren't quite as pleased. Ordering the awning was the very first thing we did when the fire was over. Don said three weeks but three weeks came and went. Then three more weeks came and went. I called him and asked what was going on. He said that they had to order it, that it wasn't his fault and that it was the manufacturer's fault. Okay, fine. Finally, the awning came. But he came and installed it with a guy, not the great team that he had before. The bolts weren’t right and he didn’t hang it. He kept saying that it needed to be pulled down a certain way. But I didn't think so. Anyway, he left. Afterwards, we called him back again and said that we've got waves in it. He said, "Oh, yeah. You get those.” But our awning never had waves before.

He came last weekend and finally put in the rest of the bolts that he said was sent wrong. He also stretched the awning a little bit but it’s not stretched the way it should be. It wasn’t smooth. It wasn’t good and I’m still not sure about the material. There are a lot of little marks in them that were never in there before. Maybe, the company changed the design or the material itself in five years. Nonetheless, I like Don. He is a very nice guy. It just seems like he might be having some problems. Maybe, it’s time for him not do this anymore, especially installing. He’s not an installer.

The awning is out everyday now. We live in Florida and we have it on our lanai, which is screened in. So the awning is always open. We also have carpeting on the lanai and a big table under the awning. We really made a big investment again with this awning. Don also charged us to take the old one. Then he charged us separately to put the new one up. That was $175 to take the old one down and another $350 to put the new one up. Then he took the old one with him so I don’t know if he was able to do anything with it or not. I don’t know whether would I go back to SunSetter or not if anything happens with this. I would tell others to look around to see if there’s another company and really check them out. Make sure when they say how long it would take that it’s close to that, not double or over-double.

The president of the company came to my house. Discussed installation. I told him I had outdoor furniture that I needed protected from the rain. He told me where the proper place was to install the awning. His installers were 3 hours late, he was not there for installation, it had started to rain. The awning was not installed properly and water was pooling up on the awning. The water did not drain off the awning. The installers kept poking the awning with a pole to get the water off and said, "That's what you have to do," they would not correct the problem and kept asking for the rest of their money.

When I spoke with the president of the company, the one who sold me the awning, he never cared to take the time to come out my house to see if the awning was installed properly. He just kept asking for the rest of his money and did not care if I was satisfied, or even if the work was done properly - there was no pitch to the awning. He was extremely rude, unprofessional and incompetent. I was disappointed in SunSetter because I found out later they had many complaints about this company, yet they continued to recommend them. Don't EVER EVER use Kapstar LLC for installation.

I live in a subdivision that has an HOA and they allowed me to put in a permanent type of glass covering. I needed a sort of shade so it would deflect the sun that was coming to the dining room that I have around sunset time. And in the fall, it’s an ideal thing to go out there and have some breakfast or barbecue. The shade would also deflect the sun so the heat wouldn’t get into my sunroom. The team at SunSetter Awnings is very helpful. They helped me pick a style out. My installation experience was very good. There were two boys that came out to do it and they installed the 12 foot wide by 10-foot awning efficiently. They ran a line down to the outlet for the remote control. The awning is sturdy. It has an electric motor that lets the awning retract automatically. It has some sort of an electronic eye that measures the wind, and if it’s too windy and I’m not in the house, it picks itself off.

Updated on 06/07/2019: Wrote a review last year after the awning showed up in a packing tube that looked like it had been run over a few times (not SunSetter issue), and the cover and hardware were not in packaging. Their solution was to send new mounting hardware for the cover so the installer could get it installed prior to the awning going up. Long story short, that was a year ago, a year, and they had told me the cover was being “redesigned” and would ship in November. The next info was the cover would ship in 2019 and the hardware that was installed may not work with the new cover. Doesn’t matter because here we are a year from this starting and no cover, no communication. It’s a cover, not a highly technical product, a year?????

Summation, don’t do business here based on “free” material....you may never see it. For something like this work through someone local who you can get the straight scoop from. Awning is OK, but the experience has been less than.

Original Review: Ordered a 15' awning back in June. Showed up weeks after their initial ship date. When we ordered, one of the incentives was a free cover. The free cover was not with the awning when we finally received it, and we have still not received it...almost November. Never heard from them other than an email a long time ago that they had 1000 covers on back order. We had hardware mounted for the cover when they put the awning up, can only hope that this hardware will work when we receive it...or if we receive it. Rare for me to write a review like this but feel all should be aware of these issues and their lack of communication in regards to an obvious long term issue.

He explained everything, made the prices and got all the measurements. He was very professional and pleasant enough to talk with. The team showed up and they were quite the characters. They knew what they were doing and made everything look easy. They joked amongst themselves and with me. I stood out there watching to see what was going on and they enjoyed what they did. They were enjoyable to have around.

The color of the awning matches with my pool. I was gonna go with a different color but the initial guy who came out recommended blue and pointed out the reasons. I took his advice and I was glad I did. What I wanted and what I thought would work probably would not have. I bought two motorized awnings with the remote control. They work perfectly and I’m extremely happy with them. I’m thinking of putting another one in. I really like those things.

I had a number of people comment on them and they asked me about it. My daughter lives across the street and she’s thinking about putting one up at the back of her house over her hot tub. I’ve recommended it very highly. I have the rep’s business card and I showed it to people who copied the information down whenever they walk by the pool. It seemed that their product was exactly what we were looking for, and it was a little less costly than other ones. We had a local person that we went through to order it and that was a good experience, but it ended up being very delayed. The store kept saying that they were in touch with the company and they would let us know as soon as it was shipped.

Initially, they told us it would take about six to eight weeks, but ours, for whatever reason, seemed to take much longer, and we weren't able to find out why. I wasn’t very happy with that. We ordered it sometime in June, and we didn’t get it until the end of August. Our biggest disappointment was that we didn’t get to use it this summer. We don’t know how it will stand up and time is the test. But we're satisfied. We’ve told people where we got it and because it’s a lovely awning. We really like it so far and have recommended it.

We looked into putting up a pergola and we looked at the Building Department. Our property goes right up next to a National Monument property and so, we couldn’t get an easement to do that to put up a new structure. We then decided on SunSetter. Everybody seemed to be nice but we were disappointed on how long it took to get here. It came in bits and pieces instead of all coming at the same time. They told us it was gonna be on a specific date and we hired people to come and we had our own people install it. I’m in a wheelchair, so I can’t do any of that and so, we had to cancel them three times before we finally got everything altogether.

So far, we love the awning but the biggest part of the summer was gone by the time it was up. SunSetter needs to get their shipping squared away so it all happens closer at the same time. Otherwise, we’re happy with it and it’s working. I would recommend SunSetter to a friend and I would ask them to come over and check out the awnings themselves.

It gets hot here in Sebring. Last month, the thermometer in the backyard was reading over a 100. I wanted to do an aluminum closure, but the counties down here are crazy with their permits and anything that’s permanently attached isn’t tax-free. So, I decided to purchase an awning. The people from SunSetter Awnings did a great job. Joe, the guy who came in, was a very nice man. He went over a whole bunch of stuff and he was very thorough.

We looked at the book which has the material in it and gives you a good view of what the pattern actually is. It has colors that SunSetter's TV advertisements do not show and they should show all those colors because some people would like different ones. I picked one out of the pamphlet and then Joe called me up a couple of days later. He said that they didn't have that color at the time, but it would take about three weeks to get it when you order it. A week later, he called me and said SunSetter got the color in so I could still get it if I want it. I told him to change the order back to the original one we picked and everything worked out well.

Joe, together with the technical guy that he had with him, also did the installation and I was very impressed with them. Joe kept me informed of everything including shipping, they did what they were supposed to do, and they had all the tools they needed so they didn’t have to go running around for nothing. They even changed some things as far as the way they wired the awning to the way I wanted it. The only issue I had was they forgot the side curtains that came with the package deal that I bought, but it was no problem. I called them up about that and Joe said they got the curtains. Then in about ten minutes, he called me back and asked me if he could bring the curtains the following week, which he did.

I’m pleased with the awning. It works fine and I got the remote control on it. It also does what they say it would do. It cuts the temperature down and you could sit out there when it’s 90 degrees and you’re not dying. You put the awning back and you’re soaking wet in ten minutes. The only thing you gotta do is remember to close it. I bought the wind sensor thing, but still, I have to close the awning because when it poured rain and it got wet, I hit the button standing there waiting for the water to come off, and the water came but the sensor didn't let me know it was coming so I got soaked.

I was not happy with the light kit that came with the awning too. It has cords in between it that are kinda curled up like crinkly or curly fries. I’m 6’4 and the outside back comes in just a little bit lower than 7 foot. Those wires hung down and when I'd walk out there, they were about to touch my head. So, I called SunSetter up, talked to Joe and asked him if I could get some of the little plastic clips they have to hang with the lights.

He called me back a day later and said that SunSetter would ship me those for nothing. I told him I'd pay them since that was something I wanted extra to put up there, so the wires would be out of the way. He said, "No," and told me I could send them back if I want. He then gave me a phone number to call which I called really quick. The rep who answered the phone was also nice. I was told that the clips were shipped the day before I called and I should have them the next day. So, I can't complain about that. The awning's got a wind warranty on it as well so if anything goes wrong with it, SunSetter will fix it. I'd recommend SunSetter to everybody. They’re not cheap, but they’re good. I’m very, very happy with them.

We’ve been customers with SunSetter Awnings for a long time. We started out in the 80s buying an awning and their product is absolutely fantastic. Their flagpoles are resistant to anything and they are wonderful products. However, their downfall is their shipping. They say it’s free shipping but they use UPS. On one of our purchases, I kept calling and saying, “You said it would be two weeks, now it’s three weeks. Where is it? Now, it’s four weeks.” They said that UPS lost it. Those were 12 feet long tubes and they lost two of them, so the summer was practically over before we got them. We ordered an Oasis, a new product that's free-standing, and a regular one to be attached. I ordered them in June, but we got them in August.

I ordered another one again and the product itself was excellent. And just recently, I ordered another one and it came through UPS. The man from the UPS who delivered it wrote an ink on the label that the tube, which is tough hardboard, had been punctured, but they didn’t see any reasonable damage. I called SunSetter and I said that we haven’t opened it because I needed a handyman to put them up. I also read to them what the note read and I said, “So when we open it up, if there is any damage, I want you to be aware of it.” The customer service team was excellent and they were apologetic. I called to say that there was a slice in the tube and they said that they took all my notes down. They also said, “We tell them not to use a forklift but many times they do and using a forklift, they puncture the tube.”

SunSetter is an excellent product and I don’t think it can be beaten. Since we lost the whole summer with the UPS losing the product, at a certain point, I said to them, “The summer will be gone and we still don’t have it. Can you just order us a new one?” They said they make them as they are ordered and they are not something that is kept in stock. I finally convinced them to create two new ones for us and get it within the two weeks that they promised. Within a week, the original ones appeared, so I quickly called them and canceled the second order. They were very accommodating in trying to placate us by saying, “We’ll throw in a free cover and a few other items,” that are accessories that we didn’t need. They tried to be accommodating by giving us those items for free which were about a total of $500 retail, which was considerate.

We’ve been wanting an awning for several years now and we know people who have SunSetter Awnings and they’ve always seemed to be very happy with them. The price was very good and we purchased a burgundy awning with tan stripes. It can do motorized operation but if the electricity happened to be out, I could do it manually. SunSetter was late in getting the awning to us though. When we got a hold of them to find out what had happened, they said their orders were way up and that they would have to special make ours. So it was a couple weeks more than what they had told us in the beginning but they clarified that they were behind schedule because they had a lot of orders. Still, we tracked it with a tracking number, and when they said it would be here, it was promptly here.

The instructions were very good and once my husband and a couple of friends laid the awning out the right way, they were able to put it up. It’s heavy so they had a little bit of trouble but other than that, it was very easy to install Since then, it has worked wonderfully. Anytime it’s really sunny and we wanna use our patio, we put the awning out. The advertisement said that it’ll lower the temperature of our patio by about 30 degrees and it definitely has done that. We got the hood for the awning too so it would keep the snow off and in the rain. That works well also. We’ve had a very good experience with SunSetter Awnings and I’d absolutely recommend them. They stand behind their word and they make a very good product.

When I work out in the yard, I don’t have any place to go without getting right in the sun. I’ve also got a table and chairs out there and I’ve been wanting an awning for a long time to put on this deck at the back. Then I got SunSetter brochures in the mail that said that you would get $350 off if you would order it by a certain time, plus you would get six patio lights to go across it. When I called them to get an estimate on it, they came right away and they put the order in that night. Then it came here in about three weeks, but I didn’t like the way they delivered it. The guy just pulled up in front of the house and opened up the back of the truck, pushed it out, and dragged it into the garage.

We had to have the awning installed on the top of the house because there was not enough room above the door to put it. They had three guys to install it and it didn’t take ‘em too long. Then as quick as the guys unrolled it, I saw that it had spots all over right away. They got the ladder out and got up there and they said that it was where the ink dye dropped and went all the way through it. For the price I paid, I wasn’t gonna accept it. So they ordered a new replacement canvass that night and I got it within three weeks. But, they have never come to replace it.

The second time I called SunSetter, I told them that the new replacement was here. I also asked how I could order one of those wind sensors to put on there, so if I'd be in the house and wind would come up, it wouldn't damage the awning. They then said that they would order the wind sensor and pay for it. Then I could just pay them $295 plus tax when they would come out to install this new canvass and the wind sensor. So I’ve got a bunch of money tied up with this awning, but it’s gonna be worth it. Sunsetter advertises that if you’re under their awning, it’s 20 degrees cooler than it is outside. But on a really hot day, I stayed under the awning and it did go down 10 degrees, so it does help.

We were gonna build a hard patio cover, but there were some challenges with the clearance that we had to do that, so we looked at SunSetter for quite a while and we made a decision to go with their product. Though we looked at other options, the SunSetter was the best one for what we were working with. The rep came out and we talked about it. We did some measurements, paid the deposit and ordered it. It took a week or two to get the product in and once it came in, he made contact to set up a date to come and install it, and it all worked really well. It was a good experience.

We got the motorized awning and it is remote-controlled. We just push the button and it goes out. We can take it out as far as we wanna take it out. We can take it all the way out or we can only go halfway with it. It depends on what we are looking for and it is something that we can take out and bring back in. It is on the patio that is right in front of the swimming pool. When we wanna go out and it’s sunny, we can let the awning go out. Then, we put it back in because if the wind kicks up, we don’t want it to get torn off. It’s a fabric-type cover with a metal frame on it but it works very well and I don’t have any issues with that. It’s a good product.

Purchasing an awning had been on my mind for years and now was the time to do it. The guy from SunSetter that first came over explained everything, and we wrote up a contract. He then called me ahead of time and his crew came in. It looked like they were tearing down the whole house, but they did it right. They put the awning up, tested it out and it was great. We chose the color to match up with the roof, and the trim around all the windows are also the same color. We got the electric model without the wind sensor since it would roll up if the wind started getting too much. I also got the remote and it’s up on the wall here so I can undo it and do it when I want. The few times I've had to pull the awning out to show other people, it worked perfectly.

We have been in this house for 32 years and we had a patio out at the back but we can never sit on it from 1:00 o'clock to 5:00 because the sun was on it. I've been wanting to get some kind shade, and we went to Sunsetter since they had a good deal and they had the color I wanted. The salesperson came here two different times. The first time he did, he explained everything including the sunrooms, screen rooms, and pergolas. Then he came again, and I decided on the awning. He was good. The one I have is a motorized awning with remote control. It's navy blue with a white pinstripe and it has a wind sensor on it.

The installation took three hours. They came at 9:00, and they were done after 12:00. They even took a break ‘cause it was a very hot day, and they went and got some water and gotten shade for a little bit. They were very skilled and you could tell that they had done this before. After they were done with the installation, they showed me about the lights, how to turn them on and then to dim them. I caught how to turn them on, and then for days, I tried to dim them, and I couldn't get them to dim. I went through the book and DVD but nowhere in there said how to dim the lights. So I called their representative and he told me what I was doing and how it should have been done. Dimming the lights was very simple, but it's not in the book and not in the video either.

Other than that, the awning changed our outdoor activities immensely. In fact, I got out some Adirondack chairs and plants. You can go out there first thing in the morning and also sit out there in the sun from 1:00 till 5:00. It has LED lights too so you can go out in the evening after supper and sit with the lights on. Overall, I'm ticked at how it turned out. It's like another room.

Since the first one lasted for a long time and the motor is still good I decided to still go for SunSetter. I left the existing motor because it was still good and I just changed the fabric and then for upstairs I added a whole new set, which is 8 feet. The installation team was professional.

The awnings keep the deck clean and since it’s waterproof it keeps us from the rain and dirt. However, it’s important to pick a good SunSetter dealer because I had a couple of issues. There was a problem with the installation but they came right away and fixed it. The product is also very costly. We looked at a SunSetter awning before but it was out of our price range. Then we got the coupon and the packet in the mail which said $250 or something off. It had all the prices listed in it so we could do the math and figure out what we could afford and it prompted us to look at buying the awning seriously again. Then we made the phone call and their local rep was very accommodating. His name was Robin and he was very nice. When he came to the house, he was here on time and he went over everything. It was a low to no pressure sale and he helped us get the awning delivered.

We had an issue with UPS for the delivery and they were difficult to get in touch with. They would leave one message and when we tried to call them back, we couldn’t connect. It took almost two days and Robin had to call them and said he would pick it up at this location. So, that was a bit of a dissatisfier but it was more the UPS side of it. Once Robin had the awning and he came to the house, my husband helped him put it in the yard. Then that following Saturday, he and another guy came and installed it in about two hours. It seemed to go out very easy and there were no issues at all. Robin also installed it when he said he was going to.

We went with the 10 x 20 awning and the color is like a burgundy and taupe almost with white stripes. It's beautiful. We got the electric one so it automatically comes out. We also got the sensor so that if it's too windy and the awning is out, it will retract on its own. Considering the fact that we've had a real warm spell this summer, it has really helped keep the area of our deck over our garage, which is kind of a game room, a lot cooler. Even with the blistering heat that we had, we were able to enjoy being outside a little bit more and the awning has extended our ability to use the outdoor space. So it was a perfect year to do it with the weather and overall, everything was very good with our experience.

However, I haven’t gotten all that they’re supposed to send me. They've sent me the side panel but I'm still waiting on the front one. I guess it's on back-order.

I was told that they could come and put it up but when they told me what the installation would cost, it was high. The person I hired to put it up did a fine job though. Now that I have the SunSetter awning, I can get out on my patio and stay longer. Initially, I had decided not to get one because it’s so windy here. In fact, I was about to lose my awning yesterday. I had it all reeled out and I was sitting out there and enjoying myself. All of a sudden, a gust of wind came up and I thought it was coming down but it didn’t. Ordered a Vista 15' awning and waited for delivery after the first ship date was pushed back weeks. When it finally showed up, UPS freight left it on our back deck without a signature. The tube it was shipped in looked damaged and one end was open. Not a SunSetter created issue, but the response has been poor. First call I was told to take the awning out of the tube and inspect it, they would then ship me any parts I needed to repair any damage. I told them after paying what we paid I had no interest in fixing a brand new awning. After many calls and emails I had no choice but to take the awning out of the tube and found that the "free" cover and all the mounting was missing along with the touch up paint.

More calls and I was told to install the awning since the cover was on back order, in fact they told me they had 1000 covers on back order. Watched the install instructions and read the install book, both said to mount the cover before the awning. Called again and was told they would ship me the install kit via second day shipment. Would have been good but it did not ship for three days and when I received it all that was I the shipment was two mounting clips, not a complete mounting kit. Called again and was told I was not shipped the correct material...no kidding.

Still waiting for mounting kit and the install instructions for the cover are built around having the cover, which I still have no idea when I will receive. Actually was willing to return but since the shipping tube was damaged when received it we tossed it. Believe it or not they told me I could ship it back but would have to pack it in a "box" to ship it back. A box for a 15' awning??? Needless to say if I could return I would. At this point we still don't have the awning up after all this time. My advise, check out local companies so you have someone who is interested in the sale and is willing to solve any issues.

Our deck was very sunny, and our neighbors had SunSetter and I saw theirs and liked it. The rep was very nice and helpful. We got a motorized awning and the installation went excellently. We have a sliding glass door with a big half-moon window above. We had the awning put above that because it gets too much sun into the room and heats up the house. We’re very happy with the awning and I'd definitely tell friends to buy it.

We moved into this place and thought an awning would help over our deck. Several years ago, we bought one for someone's daughter who really liked it, so we decided to get one too. At first, SunSetter Awnings was hard to get a hold of. We finally got a hold of them and they signed us up. However, they were having trouble getting a shipment from Chicago. We were about ready to give up the whole nine yards and they were too, but they had finally gotten the shipment. Then they came and put it in.

The installation went fine. SunSetter Awnings had three men to start off, but they had to call the main place to set up the computer on the awning and that took forever to do. The first person they had on the line was in training and didn’t know exactly what he was doing. Eventually, they got to the right person and had it set up. It had been fine ever since then. However, they were supposed to bring us back a different remote control, but I never heard back from them on that.

We use the awning every day because it’s very hot during the day. We were mainly worried about the sunroom that we have on one side with all the windows. The awning gives the sunroom shade, but it also takes in our bedroom and it really helps keep some of the heat from coming into the room. Overall, our SunSetter is excellent. Several people in our area have them already and I haven’t heard anybody complain about the brand at all.

We just moved into a condo and the sun hit our back section from the south and it was heating up fast, so we wanted to have some covering over our patio. The neighbors in our complex all have SunSetter and they have restrictions. They only want us to have SunSetter of two different types. The SunSetter sales rep went through the pricing and he was helpful. When the installers came, they did a wonderful job and we were very satisfied with them.

I was reading the manual after they had left and it says that if I want to make any adjustment on my own, there was a certain size Allen wrench that came with it but they didn’t leave that. That’s not a big deal though. Allen wrenches are a dime a dozen, so if I ever wanna do that, I can certainly get one on my own. I use the awning every day and it's great. I just pick up the remote. It goes out or back in. The sun doesn’t hit us now. It doesn’t get too hot in the back of the house and we've enjoyed the awning since we've got it. My friends would also enjoy having the awning and there was no problem dealing with the company.

SunSetter had a presentation at a home show we went to and with the way the guy presented himself, we decided to get an awning from them. My husband decided to book an appointment with the salesman. This salesman was kind, honest and knowledgeable but not pushy. I liked his approach. The installation went very well and the team was professional. They came out, went to work and knew their stuff. They showed up when they were supposed to and did what they were supposed to do without wasting time that it was enough to answer questions and to demonstrate everything.

We had a very good experience with SunSetter and we thought of getting an awning because we are retired and are spending more time at home but it is hot during the day. Now, the porch and deck are cooler. I felt like the porch was more of a room instead of just a deck. My husband opens the awning up every morning, and most days, we are sitting out there. When the sun comes around, I pull it back a bit to make sure that the geraniums get enough sun when the sun starts moving to the other side of the house. The product is well-made and it makes me wanna spend a lot more time out.

Wanted a SunSetter for years. Finally ordered it, waited 8 weeks and the installers were installing it. Then came the "knock, knock" and "We're sorry but the arm is broken and it has to go back". Meantime, I already have the ugly brackets on the roof. Dealer got it replaced (wanted to send pictures but were told not necessary). A second part was received and not only was it the wrong part it too was damaged. Now supposedly a whole new awning is being sent. It's 8/27 and I've been waiting since 6/8. When I call customer service they just tell you that you have to talk to the dealer. The dealer has been fine. Sunsetter evidently doesn't have QC of their manufacturing or their packing. No concern is ever expressed by customer service whatsoever.

It is their brand that is being tarnished when I tell my story. And of course, when I have company on the patio they always ask what are the brackets on the roof? So many people have heard of the experience. I have no idea what to expect when the 3rd shipment arrives but I don't have hope it will be in good shape based on their history of QC and disinterest. The indication of a good company is how they handle the challenging situations and make good on them... Not the case with the Sunsetter company. You are just a sale to them and if you bought from a dealer that they authorized and back, you are of no interest to them whatsoever. It's amazing to me especially in this day of social media. This is the first review I have ever posted. But I've given up on their customer service department.

I liked SunSetter's local dealer and I ended up purchasing a motorized awning from them. When they put it in, the installation was very straightforward. However, I'm a little disappointed with the remote's design. The buttons are backwards on it and it is the most ridiculous design fault I’ve ever seen in my life. I asked the dealer about it and I was told that every single person that they ever set up a motorized awning with had complaints on the very same thing. All they had to do was flip the buttons around but I haven't done that and it’s a pain in the neck enough that I will have to probably do it someday. SunSetter Awnings was also a little overpriced for what I got. The remote's design ought to be right for what I spent.

My deck gets really hot and my neighbor has an awning, so I decided to purchase one from SunSetter. A local team installed it and then I had a few problems afterward. The people that installed it should come back out, but they told me, no and I had to get in touch with SunSetter. The SunSetter rep was very helpful and told me what to do. I had to crawl on the ladder and fix it myself, which I was not happy with since it had only been in place for about a week. Other than that, the awning keeps the sun off and I’m pleased with it. It is a standard taupe-colored attached awning that goes in and out with a remote control.

My husband and I ordered replacement fabric for our SunSetter awning on July 24, 2018. We were told it would arrive within 3-4 weeks. Over three weeks passed, and I noticed I had received an email confirming shipment of our awning cover, but had not received an email regarding the actual awning. I contacted SunSetter and the representative informed me that our material had been backordered and that it had not shipped yet. Irritated that I had not been informed sooner given that the summer was coming to an end, I asked what SunSetter was doing for its customers who were affected by this backorder. She offered to send me a cleaning kit free of charge. I told her I wanted to speak with my husband to see if he wanted to cancel the order and wait until next year, since the awning would just sit outside in the rain all season.

When I mentioned canceling the order, the rep (after first threatening that there was no guarantee that prices wouldn’t go up next year) informed me that the awning would be shipping on August 20th (which was only 5 or so days away) and that it was being shipped FedEx to make up for the delay. She said it would be arriving by the end of that week. Feeling that this was an appropriate solution, I got off the phone and spoke with my husband, who agreed. We called back and accepted the cleaning kit (which we found out later doesn’t even work on the fabric we ordered) and agreed to go forward with the order. August 20th came and went, and I still did not receive a confirmation email regarding the awning shipment. On August 23rd, I told my husband to call SunSetter to see what was going on.

My husband spoke with another representative who said that the material was backordered and wouldn’t be shipped for another 1-2 weeks. My husband informed the rep that we were assured the awning would ship on the 20th. Apparently, that was a lie. So, that meant the awning wouldn’t be arriving until mid-September, assuming that this new estimate was true. SunSetter offered us some deck lights (which we have no use for, and declined), but refused to offer a monetary discount on the product that they had literally failed to deliver. This type of delay, on an awning meant to be used in the summer months, with no genuine recompense offered is outrageous.

It is the company’s fault that we didn’t receive our product when promised, and it didn’t cost the company, it cost us the second half of the summer without an awning to shade our deck and keep our utility bills down. Needless to say, we cancelled the order. I haven’t researched whether we can get the fabric elsewhere, because if we can, we will. This company treated us poorly: they failed to deliver our product as promised, lied to us regarding the situation, and refused to compensate us for their fault. Very disappointed with this experience.

It was a good three months from the time I ordered an 18’ motorized awning till it was up. The first two awnings sent to me were damaged in shipping. A very frustrating experience to say the least. The damage to the first was only seen after it was installed. It would have been MUCH worse except for the customer service at SunSetter. They always had a customer first attitude. They were reasonable and helpful through the many calls during the summer-of-the-awning-installation. My wife suggested we just cancel the order after the second awning arrived looking like it had been run over a few times. But then we thought, “what are the odds of getting customer service like this from another company?” Slim to none these days. We have a five year warranty and confidence now that it will be honored!

You don’t expect things to go this bad when you order a large item like this. But in the rare case when it does, you want to be dealing with a company like Sunsetter. The awning itself is great. The LED lights, metal hood and wind sensor look good and work well. Everything went up as expected. Easy to adjust. Good documentation. So far, no problems. I strongly recommend the awning products and more importantly the company.

We loved the old one, so even though we haven't installed the new one yet, I'm sure we'll love it just as well. We had a good experience doing business with SunSetter and we always recommend them. We've been really happy with our awnings and we like having the living space that we wouldn't have otherwise because of the sun, rain, and whatnot. Then their installers came and did an excellent job. Everyone was nice, polite, and had very good craftsmanship on their part. I'm very much impressed with SunSetter's team and happy that they came and did the job correctly. They knew what they were doing, were quick, and didn't leave anything for me to clean up. And I'm very happy with my awning. It's a 14 footer, motorized, and has the upgraded fabric. All in all, it was an easy experience for me. I didn't do anything but sign the check and agree with the color.

I live in Florida and the back of my home is in the sun all day long. I was also looking for a roof covering to go across the extended lanai. I decided to get an awning and I had familiarity with SunSetter from a friend of mine who has two of their awnings. So, I had them come out and Michael from the Sarasota division was phenomenal. His knowledge of the awning was not over my head and he presented everything it did, the fabric content, the motor, and all the details of the awning package in such a way that he wasn’t pushy. He wasn’t trying to upsell me either. He was just presenting the facts. He was very professional and easy to work with. Several times, I asked him for his opinion and he gave it in such a way that it didn’t favor one product or the other.

I went with the motorized awning and the highest fabric upgrade. It's 14 by 10 and a half and the the fabric is platinum. The 10-year warranty on that particular fabric was important to me because down here, the sun is so hot and penetrating. I wanted something that was more fade-resistant than whatever they offered. Also, we live very close to Tampa Bay and because of the bay breezes, I needed something that was breathable and flexible.

We’re outdoors 10 months a year and here, you have to let the air come out. Otherwise, you drop dead of the heat. I also have the awning in the extension on my lanai and I put it out each morning because it helps cool the living area of the house as well. My experience with SunSetter was very positive and the awning is something the neighbor have to see before they get it. I would recommend SunSetter Awnings. In fact, I’ve sold three in my community since I put mine up.

I had been in the market for an awning for awhile and since family and friends have used SunSetter, I bought one from them as well. Their team was very interesting to work with. It took me a while to get the rep to get in touch with me, but he did, and he was a very nice gentleman. His name was Neil and it also took a while for him to get the product in for me. I told him I was gonna have it for a party that I had been planning and I'd gone to him four weeks before the party. But that didn't happen. We overcame that, though, and that was all right. During the installation, the three guys who came out took three hours to do it and they did a great job.

After I got the awning installed, I got a call from the distributor's owner, the boss of the rep, and he told me that I had not paid for my awning. I told him that I paid the whole bill in cash but he said that his record showed that I didn't pay anything. He also said that they were having problems with the rep, that he was holding money, and that I needed to call him and make sure he paid his boss. But I told him that that had nothing to do with me. Then, nobody ever called me back to tell me if the issue was settled or whatever happened to it. So, I had such a disappointing experience with the sales rep and the owner of the distributor.

The other thing is, I told the rep I wanted the awning to come out and cover my deck but it's about half a foot short. So when you're sitting in chairs at the edge of my deck, you're gonna get wet. So overall, I love my product. It's a retractable awning that's roof mounted. But at the same time, I wouldn't recommend this distributor to anybody.

We added on a new porch and deck so we wanted an awning so we could sit on our deck easier. The contractor who had built our deck had seen a coupon in a paper for people that sold SunSetters and he recommended going SunSetters. The SunSetter rep was very upfront telling us about the company and telling us how far it was going to get out. The only thing was he said, "We’re pretty close, up-to-date, so within two weeks, you should get it." And I said, “Oh, good. That’ll be before we go on vacation.” Then they called us and said it was gonna be delivered the week we were on a vacation. I told him that I already mentioned that that week wouldn't work but that was the only disappointment with him.

The other disappointment was when we get on our deck during the afternoon sun and as the sun’s going down, there’s no more shade or anything there and it’s so hot. So I keep thinking, “What can we do to help that?” I know when I was at the county fair, a trailer had a type of screen that they put on to help with the sun but that’s not gonna help because it was hooked to the rollers, and I’m needing it on the right side of the rollers to do that. If I had to do that, I would probably have to pull it up and take a `bit down, and I’m only 5 foot 1 1/2 and the shortest place of the thing is 6 foot. That’s a little bit of a problem. The only thing I could think I guess we could’ve done, we thought we wanted it exactly centered over two windows we have, and that’s where we wanted it.

If we knew that the sun’s gonna come down at that area maybe we could’ve moved it little further towards the front door, and then that definitely would have the afternoon sun maybe covered. It could still be off but what we lacked was the shade was over in the yard. This has been our biggest disappointment in it, but that was something we didn’t think about at the time.

The only thing that I also keep getting concerned on is that it gets a little breezy. Our TV station would actually come on and say it was 25 miles per hour wind. I don’t know my wind strength to know how much is coming in there. Other than that, we make sure that we put the awning away. I will recommend SunSetter but think about where you're getting your sun from.
