We got an awning with a motor through SunSetter because someone recommended it. Their reps were all fine. Our order fell through the cracks but I’m not upset about it. I don’t want it right now anyway. I’m not gonna sit out there. It's too damn cold. I don’t know when that’s coming but they’re gonna let me know.

This is the second awning I purchased through SunSetter. I bought a new house and I knew that the first thing I would put on up to the deck was the awning. Their team was wonderful and I was very pleased with them. I got the 18-foot motorized awning with floodlights but I can't figure out how to turn the lights on. I was going to call one of their reps, but I haven't done it yet. Other than that, I would buy again and again from them.
We are pleased you have returned to SunSetter for your new home and that you received great service from your local independent SunSetter Dealer. We take great pride in the reliability of our products, the quality of our service, and especially in the satisfaction of our customers.
We hope you enjoy your new SunSetter for many years to come. We will reach out to you privately regarding the functionality of your lighting system.

SunSetter's reps and installers were cordial, professional and they were dressed decently. They were easy to work with. Their rep came and gave us an estimate. I gave him the downpayment and about four weeks later, they called saying they have my awning for me. The tech then put it up. We're well pleased with our experience with them. If you're looking for an awning, you might as well buy one of SunSetter's products.

With the pandemic, we're spending more time at home on our deck than we have in the past. We looked up a vendor that sold awnings and we looked at what they had to offer, and SunSetter was what we chose. The rep was very helpful. The first day, when we called, he had somebody in the area so he had a couple of guys stop by, look at our deck, take some measurements and give us some initial information. We followed up and went to visit at the shop and saw some actual samples. They were extremely helpful.
They did not try to upsell also. There were a couple things that we looked at and they were saying, “Realistically this isn't going to do that much for you.” So I felt like they really looked at what our needs were, what we were looking for, and did not try to run the price up just to be doing that. We got the awning late in the year so we've only used it a couple times because winter showed up. One of the reasons we got it is on our deck, we do get a lot of leaf fall and a lot of pollen. I'm looking forward to the summer and not having to go out and blow leaves every time we want to sit down and use the deck.
We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your experience with your local independent SunSetter Dealer. Here at SunSetter, we take pride in the reliability of our product and the quality of our customer service, but most especially in the satisfaction of our customers.

I have a stepson who purchased form SunSetter and he was very happy with them. Then, I saw some ads in some local newspapers where they were running sales, which caused me to contact them. The experience with their team was excellent. They couldn't have done a better job. With the COVID, SunSetter was having a lot of problems getting materials because they couldn't produce them fast enough. But these guys were terrific. They kept in touch with me during the entire time I was waiting for them and they spent time with me beforehand. They showed me how to do the installation and they were professional. The awnings were put in during winter so we have not had the opportunity to use them but the reps showed us that they worked well. So it’ll be very nice to be able to use them this summer.

SunSetter Awnings had the best reputation and we haven’t found any better. The girl that worked in the office helped me a few times and answered questions. The guy who did the installation did his job. I don’t have an electric outlet that works out there and I haven't got that fixed yet. But so far, the awning has been good. I haven't used it that much but when I have it out, it works.

We liked SunSetter's price, so we went with them over others. Their sales rep, Paul, was great and we liked his personality. Then, the delivery was fine and they installed the awning with no problems. But there's a little bit too much wire that's sticking out there that has never been put anywhere else, just to plug it on. It’s excessive, so it looks bad.

I called SunSetter and the rep came over a couple of days after. He showed me other options for colors and an awning with lights in it. During the installation, the guy had to find an electrical outlet which he handled really well. He didn't make a mess and he cleaned everything up. He showed us how to adjust the awning and how the control thing worked. We love our SunSetter. It's easy to use and it looks so beautiful.

We needed an awning for our back deck. It needed to be covered. We wanted to screen it in but it was a little bit too expensive. I've heard about SunSetter for years, and I had to call them. The representative that came out first, measured everything and told us what we would need. The only thing I didn’t like is nothing was listed as far as prices. It was just sitting off the top of his head, and I wasn’t like that. I like to have everything listed. Other than that, we like the unit and it does what it says that it’ll do because we've got a lot of fun on our back deck.
The installation was wonderful. The rep that came out had told us that we needed to mount it on our roof. When they got here to install, they said it didn't need to go on the roof, and that saved us $300. I would recommend SunSetter Awnings, but I would also recommend that they give a list of everything. In the catalog, the rep has a list, to me, it’s kinda confusing when you don't know one material from the mix. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely want something that shows me a list of everything I'm being charged for including the warranty insurance.

So far, I'm really not impressed with SunSetter Awnings. The guy who sold the awning to us should have done more. He came to our home and he showed me all their products and all the different conglomerations we can do. We took a day or so to think about things and then we called him back and made arrangements. We decided on a smaller awning so that it would fit in the space where we needed a bit of clearance of their product to extend.
I had to call to find out when our awning would be delivered. Then, the seller called me back and said, "Oh, yeah, we'll deliver it next week," which was last week. And then, the seller showed up earlier than I expected them, so it was not as convenient. I didn't mind them coming early. But then, they couldn't install it because they said there wasn't enough framing in the area where they had to install it. They have to come back and do some framing so that they can install it some other time.
The fella who sold me the awning should have known that. He should have checked that before the installers got there because it was an aggravation to them. They didn't say that and they were very nice. They knew their stuff and didn't want to put it in wrong. I spoke to the guy who sold it to us yesterday after the installer left and he said that one of the installers is a construction guy and that he can open up the sheathing and put the framing in so that we have studs for the awning to attach to. If I had realized this was going to happen, the guy who built our deck would have done that.
SunSetter is doing their best to remedy things but I'm kind of unhappy with their preparation. The seller didn't prepare his installers. They didn't inconvenience us and my world isn't coming to an end because they have to come back. This is mostly irritation on my part. When I was working, I was expected to do the job right. If I didn't do it right, people suffered. The installers are trying to meet that standard.

The salesman was great. He was very thorough and professional. We got one of the power ones that go out. It has the remote shut-off. We had it mounted on the roof. The house is gray, so we picked something that would go with the gray and the maroon shadows. We had planned on the installer doing it when we weren't here. So we were in Aruba when he did the installation. He contacted us immediately once he knew we were going to be back. Then when we came back, he came back and went over all the functions of it. We recommend SunSetter highly. It's definitely a high quality. You can buy cheaper ones and you get what you pay for.

They were the nicest and I was more comfortable with them. The only thing I was upset about was it took forever to get the awning because they were out of stock. They were trying to come over here and put up another awning and then leave it up and take it down when mine came in. But I didn't want to bother them with all that nonsense. So I just waited. But it was well worth the wait. I'm very satisfied with it. It's absolutely beautiful. The rep answered all my calls and he tried to make me happy until mine came in.

My porch is on the south side of my house and it gets really hot from the sun. I needed an awning and it was unable to come off the roof, so I decided on the Oasis. The reps were very nice. I loved them. The installers were really nice too. The awning pretty much covers the deck and the colors go well with my house. I have a neutral-colored house and I got a neutral color with the dark blue. A neighbor of mine wanted to see it and I had to show him everything about it and he was delighted.

I had neighbors in another neighborhood who had used SunSetter, and I was really happy with the mechanism. I had an excellent experience with them, especially during this pandemic. I got called back quickly and got my appointment quickly. I liked the people I worked with. When the guy showed up, he went around the back of the house and he got his mask on and he said we could talk out there. He was very polite about it and we got a lot done quickly. The awning covers my deck and if wind blows, it rolls itself back in. I also have the remote control. I have homeowners association, so I have to keep with certain colors. The front porch has an awning over it that is black, so it had to go with that. So I got a stripe with black charcoal and a light tan. I'm very happy with it and it changes my deck. I can use it a lot. The price was right, and went up quickly. It's just what I wanted.

We were getting some terrible West sun on our outdoor kitchen and wanted to block that out. We got a couple of different quotes and we felt very comfortable with the company that we went with and with the quality of the SunSetter product. The tech came over and measured everything up. We talked about different options and he knew his product. He was very professional. The installation took about three hours. A couple of guys did it and they did a nice clean job. They cleaned up after themselves and showed us how to work the awning. The one we got has a remote and it automatically retracts. You should really look at SunSetter if you need an awning.

We recently bought the house we're living in, and there was already an awning here. We wanted to add another one next to it. We went with SunSetter because it was the same company. They referred me to a local guy that came out and measured everything. This guy was from the local company, Bast Awning. He was okay. But then SunSetter kept sending me coupons for $200 off and a free cover and he didn't wanna honor any of that. It was after we wrote up the contract. He had given me a discount. But then I said, "Can I get the free cover that they're offering?" He declined. That was the only thing that I wasn't happy with. I kinda wish that I had gone directly through SunSetter and maybe I would have gotten a better price.

My deck is on the third level. There was nothing else there but a big large umbrella and I've been through three umbrellas with the winds that kick up here. The SunSetter looks like a good product. I've seen it for years. Steve, who put it in my deck, had done my patio for me in the big house I had. He did a phenomenal job out there. He was so easy to work with and I could've been more happy with the price.
Having it put in as late as we did, I've only got to use it twice but it's good. Because of the angle of my roof, I can see too much bracket so my only complaint would be how it looks like from the sidewalk. It doesn't have a big white box covering it. There are a couple of cords they promised to come back for. They're kind of loose so they're hanging between the whole thing and the roof. You can kind of see loose chords underneath. The whole street can see it. But they stayed so late and worked so hard. They said "We'll come on a warmer day and we'll fix them." Other than that, it's an A+. It functions great. It looks phenomenal when it's open and the lights are on. We both love it.

We've owned a SunSetter before. We had them installed when we lived in Hawaii. We just moved here about a year and a half ago. So, we had an experience with the product. They've got a lot of advertisements on TV and they also get some things via email or through the web. It was a combination of all those things that said that was what we need to do.
There was a broad array of options on the brochure that was provided. When we went online, there was a lot of data, a lot of pictures, a lot of things, so we could see what it would look like. The other nice thing about it is that there's an app that allows you to take a picture of your house or where you think you want it and then Photoshop or insert what it would look like if it was there. So, that was good. That sort of takes some of the guesswork out of it. The only roadblock that we ran into, which had nothing to do with SunSetter or the rep, was we had to get the homeowners association to agree that this was okay. They initially pushed back on us, saying we couldn't have a scalloped versus a straight-lined edge and some other administrivia.
We then proceeded to walk around the neighborhood and took pictures of places where it existed. We sent them back and said, "Hey, you got a problem here if you're gonna deny us this because it's already here. So, now you got 20 or so other properties now you have to go back and retroactively fix." They folded, and everything was fine. So, we proceeded.
We have a western exposure, so that if we wanted to dine outside or sit outside and watch TV where I have it installed in the afternoon, it made it not possible to not have it glaring in your face. So, we either had to wait till the sun went down to eat at our dining room table outside or not eat there at all. What our Sunsetter allowed us to do was do both of those things and give us another 12 feet of shade that shielded the living area from that afternoon sun. So, that was a good thing.
I definitely will recommend SunSetter to others. In fact, I already have, and I have a neighbor that came up to look at them and they said they wanna do the same thing. So, we absolutely would do that. Shane was great. He was a great representative and was very responsive. The only thing that they could do better with the product itself is the extension cord that plugs into the outlet. They got only two choices, a 12 or an 18-foot extension cord. The outlet's right next to the awnings, so they had to roll them up and sort of tuck them in behind in order to hide them in behind the awning hardware.
I told to Shane, "I don't understand why you don't have like a 1 or 2-foot extension cord. Isn't that an option or can't you modify it?" He said, "No. We only got the 12 or the 18-foot or the 20-foot. And we'll just have to sort of loop it up, and we'll try to make it so you don't see it." He tried as best as he could. We can see it. It's bulky, but it's not a showstopper.
Another thing is we have considerable amount of wind here where we are located, occasionally, and the fringe along the little part that hangs down has frayed because it's been whipped by the wind over the last three months. I know that eventually that can be replaced, but the material itself did fray a little bit due to being whipped around by the wind. It's really not a big deal because it looks fine. If we wanted, they could replace it, but then we'd have to spend again.

The installation went really smoothly. The installers were very good, treated dad really well, and looks like they knew what they were doing putting it up. They installed the awning very well. It's a good product. The only problem we've had with it is that he bought the light kit with it, and the double sided tape doesn't hold it very well. In fact, it fell the very first day. They could figure out how to stick the lights on a little bit better.

My neighbor next door was going to get an awning at first and tried the one that was a local one. We weren’t satisfied with what the representative was telling us and I told her about what I saw in the American Legion magazine. She called SunSetter and got a free disk. She reviewed it and showed it to me. She called the representative from Jacksonville, North Carolina. He came down and showed us what he had and we both at the same time decided to install them. He was a little on the pushy side. He said, “You have to get it by end of the month because the prices are going up. I’ll get the credit card.” All he was interested in was swiping that credit card then he was out the door.
The installers who were 2 young gentlemen came in and what they did with mine was great. They asked me how I wanted it set up. I couldn't ask for anything better from them. However, my neighbor and I had two different experiences. Mine was no problem with the installation and no problem with any of the product at all. I was 100% satisfied with what it was. The product itself works fine. She is like zero. She's still trying to get back in touch with them. Between the both of us, it had to be $8,000 that was paid. The salesperson got fired from them and she never was able to get back in touch with him.

I like the electrical part of where it comes out, and then it goes back in. It was really a good experience and they covered everything. It's not installed yet because I'm waiting to get a new roof put on my house. They just called me today to find out if I am ready to have it put in. The new roof isn't on yet because I'm doing some refinancing on the house to get the roof put on.
Go with them because they cover everything. They're very thorough about everything when they explain it to you and break it down to where you can understand everything about the awning. A lot of places don't care. They just want to sell you an awning to be done with it. SunSetter cared and they took care of me. I'm very satisfied with them. However, the people at the office suck. I had spent thousands of dollars with them before in other things so I called up. I said, “Hey, I got this $200 coupon in the mail. It said I could use it on anything that were from you guys. I just ordered a $5,500 awning from you. Can I use this coupon?” They said no and I asked why. They said, "You have to have it at the time of order.” I said, “You might as well not even send them out.” She said, “Well, I guess that’s right.” It was a big freaking help. Then they ordered the wrong awning. They said they'd get me another one ordered but a week went by and I didn't hear anything. Two weeks went by but I still didn't hear anything. Three weeks went by so I finally called up.

Our SunSetter awning is gorgeous. I love it. I got me one of these awnings to knock the sun out over my mother when she'll come and visit me. The rep from SunSetter was sweet. He picked the color of the awning and I enjoyed it because it goes with my garage. It's tan brown. My gate is brown and my garage is tan, so it all matches. The installation was quick. It took the installers about two hours,to put it up and they put it up perfectly. My kids, my sister and brother in law saw it and they were like, “That's awesome. That’s beautiful.”

It took a company 3 months to send a fabric, it is ok too. Pandemic time. We understand that. But on 8/28/2020 when they actually processed the order they charging me twice, 684.23 x 2. So far called them more than 10 times, they were accusing credit company made an error. Provided them with proof. Statement was sent to them. Today is October 12th, still saying it is under review. How long can they review it? If it is clear they charged me twice. Everyone out there, be careful with them. I am really frustrated at this point.

I bought and had installed a motorized awning last Nov. Ten months later I still can’t use it. When the installation was completed it was fine. In March (before COVID) we had a beautiful day and I tried to use it. It was warped. I contacted customer service and was told it was a maintenance issue and with a helper I could fix it myself and to refer to the manual. This response was very dissatisfying but although I tried they kept to that response. So what choice did I have; I reviewed manual (not helpful) and the video (a bit better). Up on the ladder it didn’t look right and I couldn’t figure it out. I felt stuck and didn’t know what to do. I did know I was disappointed with SunSetter - actually pretty angry. Then COVID hit and there were other things to worry about.
Last month I decided to get help. I’d paid a LOT of money, never been able to use it and SunSetter was not going to help. So my help arrives and I was right. The screws that were supposed to be there to adjust the pitch were missing on both sides. I called SunSetter again. (BTW don’t leave your number. Stay on hold a long time because they will not call you back.) They said they would send units that hold the screws for each side. Eventually I got a package with only one unit. I called again and they said it was on backorder and they have no way of knowing when it would be available; set up and check my account for availability. Again a dissatisfying response.
Now I have to wait until the other unit arrives. Then I have to hire someone to replace the units. The warranty is useless. After spending all that money they accept no responsibility. By the time the other part arrives I wonder if they will even honor the warranty. If I have to pay for it the cost is going to be high because the unit weighs more than 8 lbs (a gallon of milk) and shipping will be expensive. Not only is the warranty worthless, once they get money for their product their response to customers is dead. Please do yourself a favor and buy from anyone else and stay away from SunSetter. Now I’m going to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Wish I’d thought of checking them out before I purchased.

We had positive and negative experiences in our recent purchase of the SunSetter Awning. On the positive side, the installers (KZ carpenting) were efficient, fast and clean. The whole job took less than three hours. They pointed out that the delivery company ABF, left out a small piece of the awning and KZ would reorder the missing piece which they did. This piece was delivered recently. The negative side, I was not told by the sales/company or the delivers that the delivery was CURBSIDE, and I was expected to remove two large cylinders from the truck which weighed about 175 pounds. The driver noticing my age (I'm a senior) and I'm sure this is not the first time he's experienced this unloading situation did the job himself. He had to use a lift and a cart to do this. He refused a tip but I gave him a generous one anyway.
When I complained to the dealer, about the curbside delivery they said they would contact the delivery company but they did NOT. Finally, as you may know if you want to enjoy your awning all summer, order by early May. I put my order in early June and was told that the awning would arrive in three to five weeks and it took almost six weeks. Of course, the price is NOT $599. Unless you want an awning the size of a postage stamp and hand-cranked. Also, the installation price is $475. My awning all toll cost $3,335.

This is a terrible company. Upon receiving a big packet of marketing material in the mail, advertising great promotions from Sunsetter, I called them. They informed me they contract with a rep in my area, Brian **, with Moreshades4less and told me to call him to purchase and perform the work. Brian had no problem calling me back right away and scheduling an appointment for a sale. On June 2, after a consultation at my house, the company charged my card for a new fabric cover, LED Lighted awning bars, and a new motor. It has been almost two months (about 1 month and three weeks) and with summer almost over, I still do not have my awning. I have repeatedly texted the rep at MooreShades4less and called Sunsetter over the past month to get an update on my order. The hold time for Sunsetter for the phones is about two hours.
If you put yourself into the cue, then they call you back which, somehow, mysteriously always manages to go straight to your voicemail without a ring. They leave a voice message that says, "We tried to call you, please call us back." If you send them an email, you receive one back that says, "We know you are anxious to receive your awning and we are working hard with production and have been slowed down with COVID." I got in touch with someone today and I asked to speak with a supervisor. The phone rep told me there was no way of contacting a supervisor from her floor position and that she would have to leave a message and they would call me back. I told her they had until 3 PM to call me or the order would be canceled. It is 3.30 PM and surprise, no one has called me back.
I also asked for the supervisor of the company they contract with - Moreshades4 less and no one there will return my phone calls either. I initially got in touch with the Moreshades4less rep about all the problems. After an extensive text thread where he even came to my house, he claimed he did not know who I was. As one of his clients, he did not bother to program in my number and record my name. He also told me he had no way of tracking down my fabric. Basically he is being paid to be the middle man and said he had no way of getting information from Sunsetter as to where my fabric was. What's more is Sunsetter is advertising extensive promotions. Yet, their phone voice messages state, they are having trouble keeping up with the demand due to COVID.
Well, I ask myself, then why are you pounding customers with promotional advertisements you can't keep up with and charging peoples' cards two months in advance of orders that are still not here? Furthermore, they are advertising several specials that they don't honor. I received glossy brochures advertising a free color changing mug and an awning cover. My rep did not know anything about this. He said he would check with the district manager and get back to me. He never did. Also, they have other ads enticing you in - "Save $500 when you upgrade to a new motorized awning". I was told that was for a new awning. Meanwhile, I purchased a new motor, new awning cover, and new lighted awning bars - so what qualifies as a new awning???
I asked the Sunsetter reps about the promotion. She also feigned that she had no idea what I was talking about and asked me to email her picture of the offers, promising someone would get back to me. More of my time was wasted, emailing these pictures. No one ever got back to me. I finally canceled my order today after no one could tell me where it was and every phone call attempt was two hours. I have wasted so much time with this company. The whole summer has gone by and still no awning. I can only imagine if something went wrong, what it would be like to discuss a warranty issue. I will see if they refund my money as requested. If not, I will have to get in touch with my credit card company.

I purchased the retractable awning along with the 10x10 screen room and related accessories in 2016. My warranty will expire in 2021. After suffering storm damage to the steel braces I was convinced my total investment was down the tubes and I almost scrapped the whole thing. Upon contacting customer service to identify the cost for replacement parts the service rep Volunteered that all my parts are still under warranty and I would only incur minor costs for shipping. I never think to review my warranties nor terms of service.
I opened the conversation with my inquiry on the costs for replacements so the agent knew I was prepared to pay, but was honest enough to stop me and asked me to allow him time to review my purchase history and warranty. In the end, they replaced multiple parts allowing me to return my awning and screen room to service at nominal cost to me.
The restoration of this exterior "room" has also been life-altering by elevating the quality of life for myself and my mother, (ages 68 and 90), during this pandemic. I am able to bring her onto the deck daily for fresh air, dining, and the increased safety the screen room allows with periodic visits from her children and grandchildren who sit on the deck outside of the screen room with enough space to maintain social distancing and allowing them to visit with her. I use this exterior screen room Daily as my work-from-home office. This purchase has turned out to be my best-ever buy, and the customer service has been phenomenal. I have never written a consumer review but this experience has been one I must share.

They got it done. The awning is definitely worth it. I have to take care of senior parents. We live in Florida and with this virus thing going on, the awning is perfect because it makes the patio more livable with the shades. I'm very pleased with the product and it was the best investment I ever made in this house. It's highly recommended.
But as far as customer service, I haven't talked to anybody. I'm sort of old-fashioned and I think a phone call after or an email saying, "How are you? Everything okay?" would be nice. Other than that, their treatment is fine overall. The only thing I'm concerned about is if there's a hurricane here. I was told me briefly what to do. But there's a part of it that sort of sticks out in the roof. I assume that's okay but I will confirm that with them. Maybe I need to call the store. I don't think there's an issue with it but I just wanna make sure that everything's protected.

And then the other one the guy did not tell me, “Absolutely do not install this over a grill,” which is exactly what I was buying it for. They were out within the next three days. Then, we waited a couple of weeks for the awning to come in and they were out here and put it up in a couple of hours.
We’ve enjoyed it but it does not provide as much shade for the whole day. It didn’t meet our needs as well as I really thought it would. But it’s the way our house faces. Other than that, it seems like a really good product. It retracts and extends real easily and very smoothly. And it might be a lot better as the summer goes on and the sun in the sky a little bit different in the fall. I’m kinda looking forward going through the seasons with it and seeing how much shade it gives us.

The SunSetter advertisement in the magazines sold me. I was impressed. It was very nice and I felt comfortable because they've been around for a while. There are a lot of other companies I could've bought one from because there are a lot of mom-and-pops stores that specialize in that but I wanted to get the name. But I think the company should do something with the installation price.
I could see maybe $500 but the installer wanted $700 for a 16-footer. I talked him down to 600. I understand they come with three guys and they know what they're doing. But a lot of people just don't have that money. There are more average people than rich people out there. I’m on Social Security. That installation was very pricey for the amount of time they took. Some people work 40 hours to bring home that kind of money and they can make that in two hours. That left a little taste in my mouth. If SunSetter worked on that, they will do a lot better than what they probably do right now with the installation, especially now, with the pandemic out there. A lot of people can't install the awnings because they’re big and heavy. But besides that experience, the guys that installed it were very nice and I like my SunSetter. It does what it's supposed to and it's very nice. I’m very happy with it.

We were gonna actually replace the awnings in the front of our house, so we called the guy that sold it to us and he was able to wash them. We didn’t know that you could do that. Then we were asking him if he could show us an awning for a deck and he showed us the SunSetter. Also, this company was really great the first time we had them, so I didn’t have any reason not to think they’d be great the second time. Their installers came in. I had left the gate open and they knew where the electricity was and I paid for it already. They did it in a couple of hours.
When the awning was all installed, the crew showed my wife how to work the remote control. They also gave her the manual stick to do it manually. We bought the package with the lighting package. We also bought the Wi-Fi remote hooked up and I got Alexa to actually open and close it. It was a little clunkier, but our whole house is like that. It has voice command and 100% solar. We have an umbrella on our table and we just put a new deck. The SunSetter adds more to the house and it almost feels like another room. Overall, SunSetter is good. They have been around forever. The company that we bought it from was always very nice and I would buy stuff from them in a heartbeat.

We had three tent rooms but we hated them. We tore them all down and since our son-in-law had a SunSetter awning, we called Carol. We got one as well and we just love it. It is 10 x 12, with the nice fabric in a really pretty green to match our house. We have the remote and it works perfectly. We have the awning out most of the time, depending on the wind, and so it works fine. We didn't get the kind that will go by itself in case it’s windy because we figured we didn't need it. We’re always here, particularly now, so we’re able to monitor it. If the wind looks like we don’t like the idea of it up there then we roll it up.
Carol was also absolutely perfect. I don’t know when I’ve ever worked with anybody that was better about telling us things. We’re quite old and a lot of those things don’t mean much to us but she was so good about doing everything. The two men who put the awning in were also absolutely perfect. They were very nice. They even had a little trouble and they had to go above and beyond to get it put in. They were so good and I couldn't have asked for a better time getting an awning. Now, we’re even in the process of getting a screen for it. The people were all very professional and they did a wonderful job. We’re very pleased with our SunSetter. I would tell others that it's very good. In fact, I have three people here in our condo build that are going to order SunSetters. They have been sitting under ours and they like it so well. Our son-in-law is very pleased with their awning too.

I've lived in this house for 52 years and had beautiful shade trees but I lost them so my deck was not covered and it was too hot to be out there. So I decided to put up the SunSetter awning and it's beautiful. I love it. Everybody loves it. I've even recommended it to several. The gentleman who came out to show me samples was very nice. I worked with fabrics most of my life so I have an eye for what I want when I see it. He was here for about 20 minutes and then he took the check with him. He was very good. The only extra thing I bought was the wind protection because Idaho has breezes and I'm 88 years old. I can't get out and do stuff. So protection to bring it in automatically was a good idea. Then people came to install it and they were very professional. They cleaned up everything and I'm very pleased with it.

The SunSetter Awning would be a nice feature at the back of our home ‘cause I liked the covering and didn't want like a permanent structure. My neighbor had given me a little information about them and I just called them. I gave SunSetter the measurements that I got and ordered it. We installed it ourselves. I thought it might be a little bit complicated but my son-in-law is a builder. We just located the studs and put it up in place and that was it.
Our awning is motorized and it has a wave fringe. It’s made of the more durable material. I’ve had it out a few times but not too much yet because there's been a bit of wind and I don’t have that wind protection on there. I'm sure we’ll be using it a lot but not necessarily leave it out because the back of my house seems to get a bit of wind especially at this time of the year. The experience with SunSetter has been very positive and the people that I've dealt with have been really nice and wonderful.

We’re very happy with SunSetter. We already have one and we just added a second one. The sales rep was very good. He knew his business and sold it. The quality is wonderful. The original one that we have has been there for many years. We enlarged the lanai and had to take it down and then put it back up and there was never an issue. One of them comes out over the lanai, outdoor eating area and the other one is an area that we have had a cabinet with a granite countertop where the grill is, and it’s over the grill. So, if it’s sunny or if it’s drizzling, then we can still use the grill.
The only thing that bothered me was when the rep came, it was $200 off. Then we kept getting pamphlets from SunSetter. Then it was 300, then it was 350. I questioned him about that, he said, “That’s the company. Nothing I can do about it.” But we hadn’t even had it installed and they were already offering a better offer. I think it would be nice if that’s the case, that the customer does get a chance to participate in that because it was just so soon. But business is business, and if that’s how they feel on the day you bought it, it was 200 off, then that’s how it goes.

We purchased a new condo which was facing a direction that needed some protection from the Sun. The secretary of our complex association gave us some recommendations for which SunSetter distributor to contact. A salesman visited when I contacted them and we signed an agreement. I liked the color and patterns on the awning I ordered. The installation of the awning did not go smoothly though. They didn't have the proper brackets. A Fascia bracket and a surface bracket needed to be used at the time. So, the installers came back a second time with what was needed.
Once they got to the installation, they needed to get additional material to support the awning 'cause it's a long unit. They added that at no additional cost to me but they had to go to the local Home Depot to get some materials. I was very happy with what they did and they assured me that my awning was probably the most stable unit in my area.

I saw the awning advertised on television so much. And then, I was shocked because SunSetter advertised on television that it costs $700, but mine ended up costing me $2,883. And then it turned out where it doesn’t even work. I have to call in to the sales rep, but with the Coronavirus, that’s delayed part of the response time. But the man who put it up and the way the sales rep sold it to me about where it should be placed does not work. It was a 10-footer to go across. It would cover the patio. Being in Florida, it’s supposed to be 20% cooler if you have a SunSetter, but I can’t even use the thing.
It’s in the pitch of the SunSetter. It’s up too high. It doesn’t stop the sun for anything. It’s the same regardless if I have it out or if I have it in. The installers couldn't slope it because of my door coming out, but it was put in the position it’s in because of the sales rep. He said, “This is the way to do it.” So, the guys put it in, and when the sun is coming in from the south on the late afternoon, it doesn’t stop the sun at all. It’s as though I didn't even have it.
I have sent two emails and I left a phone call this morning. Because even though we have the Coronavirus, they're working outside. There are only two solutions to the problem. One is the rep told me and told the guy to put it up in the wrong place. Because where they put it up, I can’t open my door if you lower it to stop the sun from coming down. We would have to angle it down. And it’s right above the door, because you open the door from the back. It goes out. So, if you change the pitch on it, you wouldn’t be able to open the door. It’s either putting it in another place on the back of my house or changing the pitch. And I would have to make sure that it’s always up when the door is opened. Something is going to get damaged. If they move the awning, then I would have all the holes in my side of my house. I’m not happy about it.
Nothing has been done to solve the problem. I had it opened twice and I’ve had it since February when I purchased it. The rep got two emails from me. He told me in the last email that he sent me that they would be back out here to look at it, but I haven't heard anything from him since. That was probably at the beginning of March. I sent him an email at the beginning of the week asking when they are going to come out. I wanted them to come out between 4:00 and 5:00 again because that’s when the sun is coming directly into the awning. And it doesn’t matter if it was down or it’s up. It’s the same thing. There is absolutely no difference. I also called him today about when are they gonna come out and look at it.

I’ve been having a problem with SunSetter Awnings and their contractor that put our awning in. The installation and the awning itself are pretty good. However, the fabric that I was supposed to get was defective and too small, and I’m not getting it. I spotted that awning for the winter. I’ve been asking since March, as far as because they advertised that I would get that awning for the winter. I never got it, and I still haven't. I called the company and the contractor. They're not notifying me at all like I was in outer space or something.
I’ve been trying to tell SunSetter what’s going on. They told me, “Within a week or two, you’re gonna get it.” I waited for a month, two months, whatever. The contractor that wrote me up for SunSetter said I would get that in a couple months. They never notified me whatsoever. It’s ridiculous. I’m surprised they're in business. If they're doing it to me, they must be doing it to other people. I had a lot of sun in my backyard and I wanted some shade. So, I called SunSetter, thinking they were a reliable company yet this is what I got.
I told the company and the guy that installs that they shouldn't leave the customer hanging. When you buy something in the store and something is wrong with it, and they are ignoring you, would you like that? You paid for it. Why is this happening? Why are these companies pulling that kind of stuff? This isn’t over. They owe me that awning. It’s a $115 item. And I want it because they promised me. I got the literature and everything. I’m gonna get it.

At first, I said, "No," because my electrician had not come and put my plug in up top for me. But, then I said, "Let's go ahead with it because I can get him to do that anytime," which worked out okay -- I have got the plug in up top now. So far, I'm happy with my awning. The one I have now is the remote one and I'm kinda sorry that I got this instead of the ones with the arms because if it rains, I'm gonna have to not only bring that back in but bring my cushions in too. I wasn't thinking.
That issue aside, I like the quality of my Sunsetter although I probably could have fixed those arms on my original one. They had come loose last fall and when I looked at it, I thought it was time for a new one. I was taken with the remote. You just press a button and it's there. The people at SunSetter are very courteous and very nice. I told them my situation and said, “I really want the back enclosed.” So they’re gonna send me the back piece free of charge. But they got to wait a month or so because everybody’s backed up because of the virus. They’re going back to work up there, so I can understand that. I really want the awning on my deck. I got a nice deck in the back and my wife is not in good health, so I can take her out there in a wheelchair and park her under it and bring her back in the fall. The thing is not mounted. It’s lying on my deck, so I’m looking forward to it. Quality-wise and everything, it looks good.

I purchased this awning for our second home. The installation went fairly well although the installers had a couple of fault starts. They were going into solid concrete walls and they didn't have the right bolts to start with. But once they got the right bolts, everything went fine. The awning was up securely and they did a good job. I'm very happy and pleased with the quality of the mechanism and the fabric.

I thought that SunSetter would come out and put the awning up, but that didn’t happen. There was another company and I wasn’t aware of that. We’re not in town and I didn’t realize that somebody else would come out and put the awning up. And then, I wasn’t happy with them. I have a hot tub and that’s what the awning was going over. They proceeded to stand on the hot tub to put it up and I did not like that. I went out and said, “Hey, what are you doing standing on the hot tub?” They had ladders. They were Hispanic and they said, “Well,” then looked at each other and talked in their talk. I couldn’t understand it.
I turned around and came back in the house. I was mad. That’s when we called the company and told them what was going on. And the rep said, “I will call them right this minute,” and she did. We watched out the window, and pretty quick, one of the installers' phone rang and, evidently, he talked to them on there and everything, and they got everything off. SunSetter called and everything was apologized. I just could not believe the installers were standing on my tub. I wouldn’t stand on it.
As far as SunSetter and the screen that I have, I love it. My hot tub is right outside my kitchen window. And today is our first hot day, and the sun was coming in my kitchen window, warming up my house. I put that SunSetter out, and it took care of the sun on my window. So, it’s serving two different purposes. We can get in the hot tub when it’s raining or snowing, and then we can also get in because we have the cover and that will keep the house cooler or warmer. I had a new patio put on out there and the awning covered the other end of the patio. One end was already covered, it’s fine. And then, that’s where we put the extended awning. It’s awesome. My sisters were over, and the brochure came in the mail, and I said, “Here, you guys, check this out.”

My wife and I bought an awning about five years ago from SunSetter and recently, we purchased from them again. Their team did a pretty good job. The salesman was here when we called him up then I spoke to the owner a few days later and had a good communication with him. We got the one that's about 20-foot wide and 12-foot deep. It's a fabric awning and it's brown with red stripes on it. The installers who came out were good workers, told me what they were doing, and took their time. Everything looks good, too. So far, the awning is great quality. We went back to the same thing because we approved of the first one that we got, and this one's just as good. We use the awning when we're sitting outside on the patio and we've told people that it's great. If they want one, they should go get one. All in all, SunSetter is the only place we'd go to and we are happy with what we got.

But I still haven’t gotten one delivered in South Carolina. They came out to put the awning in. They put the mounting brackets in then they found out that they were delivering the wrong one. When they sent it back and ordered the right one, they had discontinued operations for a while because of the COVID. It’s been months. But now they’re back to work so I hope I get it soon. Another thing is the installers had trouble installing the awning because they were having trouble giving me a place that I could use the hand crank if I needed to. And once they started having problems, they weren’t so pleasant.

I didn't get it but I wish I had now. I have the 15-foot motorized awning and it's pretty good. It makes it more convenient for us to get outside. I left messages and I’ve talked to my salesman about it, but no one has called me back. I keep getting the excuse that it's because of the virus, no one’s working in the office, and no one’s doing this, and all that kind of stuff. I also called because I didn’t have the wind part of my awning. I asked about that and I haven’t had a return call on who I’m supposed to order it from, like if I’m supposed to order it from SunSetter or through my salesman.
The salesman was a great guy and so were the people that installed the stuff. Everything is fine except for customer service. The customer service after you buy the thing, it takes an act of God to get somebody to call you back. And they tell you, “Oh no, I never got a message from you.” That’s BS. The customer service has been garbage. I’ve been in customer service for 35 years. And even with this virus, I’m working from home. Our customer service didn’t quit even though we’re working from home, so I don't know what’s going on with a good-sized company like SunSetter Awnings that’s been around for 40 years. A friend of mine referred me to SunSetter and I thought I'd give them a shot. They are local and I’ve heard a lot of good about the product they sell. Since they were nearby, I figured that if there were any issues, they’d be able to help us out. They could have done a better job as far as getting the awning into their store. They didn’t disclose to us that at the time they ordered our awning, they decided to do an inventory at their shop so the delivery of the awning was delayed. Other than that, they seemed like they were good guys and very knowledgeable. However, whenever I call the store, I’ve had trouble getting ahold of anybody. But whenever I call the in-the-field salesman, he gets right back to me.
We ordered some things custom. One of the features that we got was the automatic roller. When it gets windy, it retracts automatically. The install went good. The awning works very well and we're happy about that. Now, we can sit on our back deck when it’s raining and have the awning out, which was our number one why we decided to get one. At first, we were thinking about building kind of a hard roof cover that came out over the deck, but we decided to try the awning to see how long we had the awning out versus how long it was retracted, and make a decision on that. So far, the awning has been nice. We roll it back in on nice days and getting total sun cover on the deck has been nice.

We’ve seen SunSetter advertised over the years and thought the application would work well for our home. It looks nice. The quality looks good. We got it at the end of the season and we only put it in and out just to make sure it worked after the people installed it.

There are several people in this neighborhood who already have SunSetter Awnings and we have to stick to a design. That is why most of us go for SunSetter because of the coloring and the design, and I’m very happy with it. The salesman who came to see me was good and he explained things. The sun is out there in the morning and if I want to sit out, I will put the awning down. I use it to keep the sun off. Sometimes, I also put it down to enjoy the peace and quiet, and to cut down the wind.

We had had a SunSetter Awning before at a different house, and so we kind of knew what they could do and liked it. We had a really good salesman for our purchase this time. He came out right away and got it done. We picked the color we wanted and got the motorized awning. The installation didn’t take very long and they did a nice job. The awning was put on the right spot to block the sun when we wanted it to, so it worked really well.

The dealer owner hooked the awnings up incorrectly. When I had my handy guy come over, he was like, “This is not gonna work. You have to do this.” Then he started yelling at my handyman and at me. I told him that I’m his customer. I didn’t him. He’s like a redneck from Lakeland who has money. He's rude and he just thinks because he has money, he’s better than most people he lives around, and he just treats people like that. Excuse me. I just spent $5,000 for this thing. We had to figure out how to use and I had to call the people. There was no follow-up whatsoever. I guess the guy who was installing them ended up quitting halfway through, so we just had to wait. For spending that much, I felt the customer service is really lacking.
They missed a piece and they came back. It was a pain for a while. Then they forgot the LEDs and other things. But SunSetter Awnings is awesome. It has changed our whole backyard because living in Miami and not having any shade and we kept buying these big, long, chuchi umbrellas, it's been a Godsend and this is just pressing a button. Overall I was very pleased with the end product.

We had a representative who lives in our complex here and she recommended SunSetter. We found some ball bearings on the ground and we thought they had come from the awning. They sent people over the next day after we called and they showed that it had not come from the awning. It came from a swivel chair we had out. They acted immediately on it. We're satisfied. And we are very pleased with the awning so far. We use it more in the wintertime because the sun is at a lower angle.

I was very happy with SunSetter and and I love the awning that I bought from them. I like the look and comfort of it. And I enjoy the backyard being under the shade and out of the sun. Their salesman was very good as well and I liked the way they handled the call when I called for the information. Compared to them, I didn’t like the big company that did the big ads and offered a much cheaper product. It looked good but I didn’t like them to deal with. I also went on the computer to find out if people were satisfied with them and a lot of people weren’t. But when I asked the people where I live who have SunSetter awnings, they were very happy.

We're very happy with SunSetter Awnings. They did a great work and kept on schedule. The process took about four weeks. It was snowing, so it took a little while before it got put up. They spent one day installing it. The awning is a lot more useful than it was before. I’m not much on heat, sun, and all that, so it fits right in for me.

Updated on 05/16/2020: So, I had posted a comment how my wife and I bought a Awning from Sunsetter and all was great until the wind tore it down and we had to use our warranty to get it fixed. We found out that our warranty was exactly what it was explained to us to be. Sunsetter Awning blames the dealer and the dealer blames Sunsetter Awning.
So, I was told that I have to tell them what parts I need. I'm not an Awning guy. I have no idea. I had to get someone to come to my home and tell me. Then I'm told that I have to pay for shipping. After the new parts were ordered I provided my Credit Card to pay for shipping and was told they would be shipped in 3 days. I noticed my Card was not charged so I called Sunsetter back and was then told that the parts would not be shipped in three days and they wasn't for sure when they could ship the parts because of the Coronavirus. These people are not on the same page.
So finally I had a supervisor call me. (Probably because I left a bad review) and told me that because of all the trouble she was going to waive the shipping fee. I told her that she did not have to do that but she insisted. Two days later I received a call to confirm the PART I needed. So, I informed that lady that I don't need a PART rather I need PARTS. I once again provided her all of the parts that I need and during that call she confirmed that I did not have to pay for shipping.
Now here we are a full month later and I see that my bank account has been charged for the shipping of the parts. I call Sunsetter and the customer service rep tells me that the shipping fee can't be waived. Also, she doesn't see any notes in the system where I was ever told that they were being waived. So, here is my take away from Sunsetter Awnings.- All they care about is the original sale.
- The employees are not on the same page with each other.
- If you write a bad review someone (supposed to be a supervisor but probably isn't) will call you and tell you whatever hoping that you will change your review.
I'm going to have that Awning removed from my house because I do not want anyone to come over and think it's great and then buy one and have to deal with all of this. I will tell everyone that I know how bad it is to deal with this company and what they have to look forward to. If you feel like you want an Awning, go to Wal-Mart, buy one of those tables that has a big umbrella in the middle of it. In reality, it does the exact same thing and doesn't cost near as much. And if it is destroyed because of the weather, replacing it is no big deal.
Oh yeah, Sunsetter advertises that their Awnings will help decrease your electric bill. Not true. We never saw a change in ours. I hope this post saves someone some heartache. I now have to go dispute a charge on my credit card. I'm giving one star but only because you have to give something. Sunsetter Awning people. Don't waste your time responding because it's clear that whatever you say isn't going to be true.
Original review: My wife and I bought a Awning in 2016/2017. The Awning is great. When we bought it we were told that the Awning had a 5 year warranty. Well, we recently had strong winds that tore our awning down. We call about the awning because it’s still under warranty. Sunsetter customer service informs me that I have to pay for shipping of the new parts and I have to pay to have someone come fix it or I can fix it myself. Their attitude, they could care less. I order the new parts and I’m told that the parts will be shipped in 3 to 7 days. I notice my credit card doesn’t reflect the shipping charge so I call back and then I’m told that they aren’t shipping anything because of the Coronavirus.
Their customer service people are not informed, they could care less about their customers once a purchase has been made. All they care about is making the original sale and that is it. I will not ever buy a awning from these people again and certainly would not recommend them to anyone. As a matter of fact, I had recommended them to friends and I will be contacting them about this poor service when repairs were needed.
We do our best to educate our potential buyers on all of our models and sizes through our literature and on our website, including our warranty coverage.
We apologize for the unprecedented delay due to the coronavirus. We will reach out to you privately to discuss the next steps regarding your awning.

I'm the type of guy when I want something, I get it. I had a friend that had SunSetter Awnings and she was bragging about it that's why I went on and bought it. I thought the sales rep was a little bit aggressive. He came and started writing it up without much thought as if he knew I was gonna buy it already. I thought everything was about $500 or $600 according to the TV I was looking at. When I got the brochure, I saw there were different prices. It was a little bit expensive although it had a warranty on the window motor. The operation of it is okay thus far. My wife loves it and she only used it twice. I plan to use it more regularly this summer.

We have a small porch with three chairs on it and when the sun's out, unless you wanna get burned to a crisp, there was no way of sitting out there. We do it in the morning and the evening, but we just wanted some protection. We went with a popular name and went with SunSetter. The guy who came out was very good about helping us lay it out. We had a challenge of mounting it because there’s a slight angle to the roof that it was mounting against.
Now, I can sit out at the porch and the awning prevents the sun from going in our lanai and bleaching our furniture. Plus, when it rains, we’re not getting soaked because now, the awning gives some protection. I'm totally happy with it and I went with the automatic closure with the wind and remote control and it works fine. It’s exactly what I wanted.

We decided to work with them and the folks that installed ours were very professional. They knew what they were doing and they made it look easy. We enjoy our awning. Our back portion faces east so we get the sun in the morning and it shades the sun coming into the living room. Also, we have a pretty large deck, so it’s like having an extra room.
