I'm old and I was having a great deal of trouble getting up the outdoor steps to my front door every time I left the house, especially when I have to carry a bag of something inside from shopping. I did a web search and I was most impressed with Stannah Stairlifts. The salesman came and provided me with all the information that I needed. Then I selected a reconditioned outdoor chair and a week later, an installer came out and installed it. It took a long time because there was a good deal involved, like wiring and bush trimming. Plus, he did not put in the remotes that the salesman had told me I would get. So I called back and the installer came back and put the two remote controls on so I could send the chair up and down from wherever I am. The workmanship was done perfectly.
The installer was nice to me. He explained everything, gave me printed material about it and showed me how to use it. The stairlift does what it's supposed to do. I like that I can turn it to the side to get out with my cane and the fact that it goes up and down with a mere push of a button. Also, the seat and the foot can be raised so that all the weather doesn't hurt it and keep it wet. It impacted my life positively. I used to have almost everything delivered because I couldn't make it up the stairs if I had to carry anything in. I'd tell others that if they need one, they should get one. Even though it costs a fortune, it's definitely worth it.

We're 91 years old and the Stannah stairlift makes it easier. We had a recommendation from a friend and everything went very smoothly. We got a straight stairlift and it's convenient to use. We're perfectly happy and we're satisfied.

I like Stannah Stairlifts' price and I'm very happy with the stairlift. The salesman came out, looked at the site, took his measurements and gave me some insight on how the chair works, how it operates, the construction and the quality of it compared to others on the market. He submitted a price on it with the pamphlet on exactly what I was gonna get, the quality and the warranty. They came in one day to install the stairlift and it has been very good. We've had it for a little over a month now and the quality looks fine.

We called Stannah and asked for them to come out. They gave us some information then we did our research on the internet. We asked for another company to come out to do some comparison and based on track record and reputation, we decided to go with Stannah. The installation was done within two and a half hours and we interacted well with the team. We also did a couple of test drives once they were finished. We have a curved stairway and the stairlift does curve around and fits our home well. It’s not overly big or cumbersome as we’re seeing in different places, and it runs smoothly too.
Our son has muscular dystrophy and we had added some stuff to help give him a little bit more support. Aside from the five-point harness seatbelt, we got him the headrest and we actually put a Velcro type body harness that wraps around. It’s used mostly for wheelchairs but we were able to adapt it to the chair to give him more total support. It's better to use for people for whom the five-point harness doesn't work. All those things are portable so we attached them ourselves. They're all Velcro and the headrest is like a strap. So I looped the strap to the back of the chair and I’m able to adjust it depending on how he’s sitting. Then I use that to support his head so he doesn’t lose any type of head control. He can rest his head and then the total support wraps around the back of the chair. So it works pretty well. He's able to sit up better and be a little bit more stable.
It was a long process but in the end, it was rewarding. It gave my son and my wife peace of mind, and he’s able to get up and down the stairs safely. It gives him a sense of independence too. We just have to get him onto the chair then he can do it on his own. He can operate using the remote or the one on the chair itself. He likes the remote control more though. Stannah was the best and the experience was smooth.

My father is now living with me so I purchased a straight stairlift from Stannah and my experience with them was very good. I called and the person who came on explained all the products to me. When I was ready several months later, I called again to make the purchase. The process was very straightforward and there were no problems. The stairlift was delivered on time and everything was as promised. The installer was excellent as well. He came on the day he was supposed to come and spent a good part of the morning installing the product. He also explained the product and showed me how it worked before he left but it was self-explanatory too. And even though I don't have too much space, the stairlift fits well. It looks very nice and sturdy.

My husband is unable to make steps. My son did quite a bit of research on different companies and he felt that Stannah was the best because it also had a 10-year warranty. The sales rep was very good. We got the straight stairlift and it's only affecting the eight steps. The man that installed it did a good job, and everything was all cleaned up. When the stairlift was all installed, he showed us how to operate it. He also told us to give them a call if there were any questions. The stairlift is doing very well and my husband already used it. He seems to like it and he's able to get up with no problem.

I got a stairlift for my mother and I didn't think I was gonna need it for more than a year so I went with Stannah Stairlifts for the fact that I could rent it. Their rep was there the following day for the measurement. They called and said they had somebody in the area that could come earlier which was good. I got the straight, indoor stairlift and it was a good installation. It fits fairly well into the staircase. I leave it in the middle and so I have to sort of walk around it. There's a window that I keep open at the top of the staircase and in case it rains, I don't want it to get anything on there. Also, the cat likes to jump up on the window. If I'm using it, I bring it up and down. But when I'm not using it, I take the remote and get it to a third way down and stop it. That way, it's out of the way.
It has been working fine. But I tried to use it the other day and it got stuck in the middle halfway down. It wouldn't go down any further. For some reason, it would go 2/3 of the way down and just stops but it would still go back up. I had that problem once and I took it up to the top. Then, I sat on it and used the little toggle under the arm. And it went all the way down. But I haven't tried that yet. I was gonna call them and I know that if I call up, they would come right after. I'd recommend Stannah if anyone asks.

I have a two-storey house, was not supposed to climb stairs so I had to buy a stairlift, and was told that Stannah Stairlifts is the best among stairlift providers. I had a very good interaction with their people. They were very responsive. When I had put in a new central air conditioning system in and somehow, the installer moved one of the rails so the stairlift didn’t work when I tried it out at 4:30 in the afternoon. I called Stannah and I had somebody here within three-quarters of an hour. The stairlift is excellent and I'm using it all the time.

The stairlift takes me to where I gotta go. I sit there and I get to the top. Its quality is very good too. When our neighbors came in the house, they tried it and loved it as well.

I purchased a Stannah Chair Lift 1/17. On Thursday, 5/31/18 the chair malfunctioned, since the labor warranty was up, I paid a $150 service repair fee. Handi-Lift Service Tech came that afternoon. On Saturday 6/2/18, the chair had the same failure. Handi-Lift stated that they do not have emergency service, and if we waited until Monday or Tuesday they would repair at no fee, otherwise we needed to pay $350. We opted to pay the $350 as we needed to get to bedroom/bathroom and couldn't stay downstairs for 3 days. I figured I would call Monday and get the fee reversed. THEY REFUSED!!! I now paid $500 for a repair that should have cost $150, as well as the anxiety of being stuck on the chair and a loss of confidence in the chairlift itself. Handi-Lift's motto is "Accessibility with Dignity". They need to amend that to "Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 only. Evenings and Weekends are at your own risk."

My parents are having difficulties walking and their house is set up where you need stairs to get out of the house. So a chairlift was pretty much mandatory based on their physical condition. We looked at Stannah, A1A Mobility and Acorn. Doug from Stannah Stairlifts did an excellent job in the presentation. He was very straightforward with Stannah's pros and cons. He told us the price, what they were good at, what they were going to do, and what they won't do.
He did not badmouth his competitors, while the other ones had little digs about what their competitors did and didn't do. Also, the pricing was very upfront and honest. The other companies gave us a big price and then two days later, they called back to say that they can make a better deal for us. Then two days later, they called back with another deal. As the person making the decision on behalf of my parents, I felt like if I wasn't here, my parents could have been snowed a little bit about the prices people came in with. And I really was turned-off. I felt like they started high to see if people will bite on it. And Doug did not play any games like that at all. I live close to where Stannah headquarters was in Franklin, so I met Doug there on a Friday afternoon, and I tried out the chair.
Also, Stannah had a good program, which is what we ended up going with. Doug was very helpful when we decided to go used. We had gotten a top-of-the-line gently-used chair, which was about $3,000 less than the $11,000 Doug quoted and almost half the price of some of the other quotes that we received. I like that they have some type of buy-back program over the next few years in case we no longer need the lift. I also found that even with a used chair, their warranty was better than the other companies'.
The house is split level and we had a curved lift installed from the basement all the way to the top floor. The installation team was excellent. They were very nice and made sure that both my mom and dad knew how to use it. They also watched my parents use it to make sure they were comfortable with it. They were very accommodating, polite, professional, and clean. My parents were worried about the aesthetics of what it was gonna look like in the house, but now they think that it wasn't as cumbersome looking as they thought it would be. It's a smooth ride. It exceeded expectations and they are glad that we had gotten it.

We have two floors with 15 steps to go up and my 87-year old brother needs a stairlift. Stannah Stairlifts is local and their reviews sounded more passionate when I went online and checked their reviews from other people. The Stannah sales team was very good and there was no pressure. They just gave us the facts and volunteered to come back anytime if I had other questions. The sales lady did a great job as well as the installer who came. The installer was a very personable young man who seemed to know what he was doing, didn’t have any issues, and was very pleasant. Overall, my brother likes the swivel part at the top of the stairlift and I'm very pleased with it. I would definitely recommend Stannah Stairlifts.

I was happy with the price, and the sales rep answered any questions I had. He was very informative. I was very happy with him. I got a straight stairlift and its perfect. I feel very safe on it. I’m up and downstairs a lot all day. The installer took him a couple of hours doing it, and then he spent plenty of time with me making sure I knew everything and how to use it. He was very thorough. With the stairlift, it has been easy for me to get up the stairs. I didn’t think at first that I’d even use it. I just got it to shut my kids up, but then when I got it, I just loved it.

The Stannah salesman who paid us a call to tell us about the stairlift was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. There was nothing that he couldn't answer as far as our questions. There is also an added benefit that we didn't even know until the salesman explained it to us. If my doctor signs the paperwork, the state won't charge us the fee for taxes and that's on a pricey item so that's not a small thing when you're on a limited income. The gentleman who installed the stairlift was also extremely professional. He told us approximately how long it would take, which it did exactly, and he treated us in a respectful manner. He also cleaned up and he didn't leave anything behind.
I also noticed that neither one of them treated us like we had less than a mental capacity. Once you reach a certain age, people seem to talk to you louder, whether it's well intended or not, thinking that you're deaf or to explain minute details that you're quite capable of understanding. Even in commercials, there is one from another chair company that shows the couple as feeble, old and rickety. But the Stannah people treated us with intelligence and respect, and that meant a lot to me. People that need this particular piece of equipment are going to appreciate that as well.
We have a large house, with 14 rooms and four bathrooms, and getting around on one level isn't bad but it's the stairs. I have severe asthma and COPD, and my husband has very bad arthritic knee. We've only been using the stairlift for a short time but we use it every day and night, and I've seen a huge improvement in going up and down the stairs. We found the stairlift exactly as we were told it would be. It's probably one of the best investments we've ever made. I would recommend Stannah.

I'm renting a straight stairlift for six months because I had a knee replacement done five days ago and I'm very pleased with the stairlift. It's working out well for me now that I'm home from the hospital. The only blip that I had was that when they initially scheduled the appointment to come and install it, I was given a timeframe of between 9:00 and 11:00 AM. But come 11:00 AM, the installer was still not here and I became panicky 'cause I knew the job was gonna take about four hours and I had this doctor's appointment in a couple of hours. We found he was then 30 minutes away and I was so upset that I cancelled it. But when it was rescheduled, a different installer was scheduled to come and he did a good job.

I have a bad back, two knee surgeries, and I live in a house with stairs. And Stannah had the best reviews out of all of the stairlift providers, so I called them to see what they had to say. And I liked the system a lot, so I got one. Everybody was great and they did a nice job. The system is pretty good-looking. It's two flights of stairs, but there are landings halfway so it has three curves in it. It’s lovely, very graceful and there’s plenty of room there. And it has a lot of safety features, which the other provider do not have. It’s much better than I thought and it works beautifully.

I had trouble walking up the stairs and it got so bad that if I had a package I couldn’t make it, so I was really forced to have the stairlift. My interaction with Stannah Stairlifts' rep was really good. They've been around for a long time and I was impressed with their history. Also, he wasn't very pushy about it. He told me the price and what they will do and he gave me his card. I called him a few days later and he came. I talked with two others and their's were a lot cheaper. One was even significantly cheaper but I didn't like the rep. The installation went fine and it took about three hours to have everything done. The Stannah Stairlifts sales rep's visit took only about a half hour. He showed me pictures of the stairlift but I had been through it when I went to their home office and checked the thing out. I already pretty much decided that was what I wanted to do. I like that they were close to the home office in Franklin. The guy came to see us, he was right on time and I had no criticism of him at all. We were about to leave for Florida for a couple of months during the winter so we said that we were gonna do it as soon as we get back. We submitted all the paperwork and then when we came back it was like we started all over again from another planet.
We got a straight stairlift and it fits into our home perfectly well. The installer who came in was one young man in his early 20's. He put up the staircase, showed me how to push the buttons and he left. I like about the stairlift the most is that it goes up and down. The machinery and the feet itself is fine. The Stannah sales rep was very good and helpful and the installer was prompt and worked diligently. He went through every function of the unit with us and he did a good job. We got the straight one with a retractable track at the bottom. And it runs smoothly, though it goes slower than I do so I have to wait when my wife is coming down the stairway. They were on time and they got it done in a timely manner because I told them I needed it for next week. I got the straight stairlift and it's the best that they could do. My mom is 94 and she doesn’t have any trouble using the machine. The cost seems reasonable but I wish Stannah hadn’t changed their rental period. They have a minimum six months rental now, but they had a three-month rental when I previously rented from them. I liked the how responsive the company was, because what I usually do is I call a phone number to see how the people respond, if you need service or whatever. Out of the three different salespersons I had here, the one from Stannah was head and shoulders above in his attitude towards explaining how the lift would work. He was a delight to have in my house.
The two guys that came for the installation were very respectful and very neat. At the end of the service call, they went over to my father and thanked him for his business and shook his hand. That’s remarkable. My father said the Stannah stairlift arrived just in time. Our experience with Stannah was pleasant from start to finish. We just had some workers in the home to install one of those walk-in bathtubs, so when you have various people in your home you can really appreciate when you have a group that’s quite respectful and clean about how they approach things. The Stannah stairlift was fine. We went with them because I had used one in a business setting. During the sales visit, everything was professional and we got a quick response. The installers were quick, straightforward, polite and on time. They called us before they arrived. My father's enjoying the stairlift. It's helped tremendously as it gets my dad up the stairs without us worrying that he's not gonna be able to do it on his own. It allowed us not to have to move his bedroom to the first floor at this time. The stairlift is straight and it's durable and seems very safe. We're very happy with it. All in all, my Stannah experience was very positive from start to finish. If anyone asks me about them, I will tell them to look into it depending on their need.

Our neighbor across the street recommended Stannah Stairlifts. My wife had a fracture and I was not sure whether she would be able to walk up the stairs, so while she was in the nursing home, I arranged to have the stairlift installed. The installers were terrific. They were very efficient, very fast, and did a nice job. However, we had one concern where the stairlift did not turn a full 45 degrees. A very nice gentleman came over, explained the whole workings of it, showed how strong it was, and then since then, we have been comfortable with it. It has only been about two weeks since we had the stairlift but it is holding up well. My wife is happy that we got it.

If you have a mobility problem and have to live on two stories, Stannah is a very practical solution. I decided to purchase a stairlift because of a major leg surgery. We looked at several companies and we were impressed with the salesmanship and history of Stannah Stairlifts. They have a very good salesperson. I requested and received a lot of information from him. We then went to their local center for a demonstration. We got the straight stairlift and its installation took a relatively short time. So far, the quality looks good.
Our bedroom is on the second floor and now my wife can go up and down. In order to stop the beeping every charge though, the stairlift has to be at or near the top and there is no command that just sends it to the top. I have to essentially keep pressing until it does so. Also, there's no practical system to carry either a folded wheelchair or a walker, which would be needed at the end. Still, we would recommend it to a friend.

We Purchased our Stannah stairlift's because of its ability to move to top level without aid. We’ve had Stannah in the house since 2013. In that same year, when we called several people, three people showed up. We asked for references, and they did not send it. It was only Stannah that followed up through. Also, when we look at the reviews of other stairlifts, I read the complaints about people who are using other kinds. The reviews confirmed that it was Stannah that we needed. With the stairlift, we can use the whole house, not worrying about going up and down. Also, we like Rich, and the guys who came were also good. They did a good job.

I checked them out as best as I could on the internet and I sold myself before they even got here. Their sales rep had a very good attitude, not like a hard-driven salesperson, but she was there to help me and to discuss what I needed. The installation team was quite efficient in getting the work done. They installed a straight stairlift and it serves the purpose. It narrows the stairway a bit, but it's doable. It's a means to an end. They showed my wife how to work the stairlift and my favorite feature is the smooth ride. The stairlift is very good and its cost is comparable.

My husband has Parkinson’s disease and the bedrooms are on the second floor. Stannah was recommended by one of the editors at The New England Journal of Medicine where my daughter works. We spoke to two of the reps. The first one came out and worked with my daughter when we were still in Florida. My daughter was very impressed and the rep left all kinds of wonderful information for us. And then when we came home, the three of us went down to Stannah's place of business in Franklin. The rep went over it all again and he had my husband and I both try riding one stairlift. It was a very good experience, and I purchased a straight stairlift.
The installer spent a lot of time explaining the stairlift to us and had us ride it up and down again, making sure we were comfortable. He left us with written details also. The stairlift fits very well. However, we had one problem with that. We had a hall closet that’s on the same side that we had to put the stairlift. So we had to take the drawer off and once the stairlift is down, it blocks the door. But eventually, we’ll figure out something to adjust to be able to close it. All in all, everything went very smoothly and was explained well. The cost of the stairlift was worth the money and it looks nice. My granddaughter loves it. We’re very happy and we definitely will recommend Stannah if anybody asked.

I needed a stairlift for my parents to make it easy for them to go from one floor to the other. Stannah was better than the others I looked at, and I liked that they seemed more professional in terms of the display and the interaction. Also, they were more established and I'm getting the installation right from the company. My interaction with the salesperson turned out to be very good. I had done all the homework so I didn't need a sales pitch. The one thing that was concerning though was they insisted that someone had to come over and do all the measurement when I had a simple installation. So I resisted, but it turned out to be good. I'm glad I did it even though I didn't feel I needed to.
The installation was straightforward and the installer, Dwayne, was excellent. And when he got through installing it, I felt like I made a good choice because I had the sense that if he gets it from the company that makes them, it will be better. And he couldn't be any better than he was. He was neat and his attention to detail was very good. Overall, while I had a very good experience, Stannah is a little expensive even to the others. We went with the straight stairlift and it fits our home perfectly. The wall did not come to the edge of the steps and it cost us an extra $1,000 for the extension. We can sit on a stair, trying to get up the rest of the stairs and we had to have our feet on the floor so it had to be extended. The installation experience was perfect. She was knowledgeable, nice, not pushy and helped us to make a decision. They followed up and did a wonderful job. They did everything the way we wanted them to do it, and we were completely satisfied.
Our stairlift is curved and it fits perfectly. We didn't even expect it to look and fit as nicely as it does, but it's perfect. The installers did their job, and they were professional. They demonstrated the stairlift several times, and then they went through all of the various options and things that we needed to know about it. The best thing about it is that it is not too big. It was a real issue about our stairway being narrow and it just fits. We also bought an extra leather cover for it, so it has a very nice look. I would like it if it was faster, but those things are all the same speed. Stannah was more expensive than the others that we looked at, but it was worth the investment. We had confidence in him, he was very knowledgeable about the product and very clear about how it would be, the follow-up and the service that was available. He also told us to check the computer for feedback about the company. The straight stairlift we had installed takes up space but it doesn’t matter because I’m on the chairlift. But for my husband, he’s getting used to it.
The installation was on the day that we were expecting a snowstorm, so I didn’t know if the installers were going to come. But Rich, the installation guy, was here at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning. He was very friendly, delightful, and pleasant and he gave us such confidence. As he worked, he worked efficiently and he got the job done in a very timely fashion the way he said he would. He showed us every button and dial and it was great. My husband likes the stairlift's ability to minimize or eliminate the pain in climbing steps. Every time I climbed the steps, I would be in so much pain and it was terrible. Now I come up the steps in a chairlift and I arrive at our living level without any more pain than before. The chairlift has gotten rid of all that pain from climbing the steps and it has really enhanced my quality of life.
It's good that Stannah has a showroom that we could visit and Louise, the rep there, was very sweet and patient. We had to call back one or two times after that visit, before the installation, and she was very accessible and helpful. It was also helpful to go there and to try the stairlift out and really see what it was like. My husband and I had been thinking about putting in an electrical outlet closer to the stairlift, and when I was at the showroom, I was able to see that it really would be fine not to do that. We’ve had the Stannah stairlift for only about three weeks, but it’s been wonderful. And from what we have read on the reviews on the consumeraffairs.org, people are very happy with it and hopefully, Stannah stands behind their product. We were told by the salesperson as well as the installer that we should have very few problems with it. But if we do, the Stannah team will be here within 24 hours or even on the same day if we call in the morning.
The Stannah stairlift is was more expensive than Acorn, the one that we had considered buying. But we decided to go with Stannah because it seemed like a better product and maybe a better company. What scared us a bit about Acorn was when went on consumeraffairs.org. Acorn had a lot of negative posts about it and Stannah had almost all wonderful post about it. I’m not sure how that could be because the Better Business Bureau site had very few negative complaints about Acorn and they were rated an A plus. So, my husband was very surprised about the disparity between consumeraffairs.org and Better Business Bureau site and we have to configure what the difference was there. Nevertheless, Stannah is a great company and a great product. Louise, Edwin, and Rich make a difference and everybody knows a lot about the product which is fabulous. It caused us to find a chairlift company and a local laundry guy gave us two names and we chose the Stannah. During the sales visit, their guy, Rick, was an excellent presenter of the material that we were curious about and the information that we needed to know. He had a nice presentation and he covered everything. We got a straight stairlift from them and we got it within weeks. It was installed down the stairs to the basement from our kitchen access.
The installation team was good. We planned three times to have it installed and every one of those dates, we had one of those glorious snowstorms that we had through the month of February. Derek, the last guy that came, was very efficient. He had the truck opened up and ready to go. After a little bit, Derek came looking as hangdog as anybody could and asked if we have a schedule for some other day. He said that it calls for cutting off 16 inches and he cut it off but it seems like somebody else already done that. He said he'll come back on Saturday which was two days later. He did came and conquered, and we have a stairlift.
My husband and I ride it, but I ride it mostly. My knees don't operate very well anymore. It's easy to use and it's quiet. We can't speed up on it and it sticks to its own pace. It really has been great for that purpose. It also has a dual purpose. We also have our refrigerator downstairs. And when I come home from the grocery store, I just put all our heavy things right on the chair and remotely move the stairlift downstairs. In terms of the quality of the stairlift, it is fine and it's lovely. The stairlift has improved our life. I could have gotten down to the basement, but it impacted my knees going up and down the stairs. So now, I feel I have access to another level. It was a very pleasant experience. And if a friend of mine asks me about Stannah, I will tell a friend the wonderful things about them.
I also told this to a nurse practitioner I had seen a couple of weeks ago. She was so interested and wanted to know about it. She said she has a lot of older patients and she wants something to show them. I found the brochure that Rick had left when I came home and I took it over to her. The gentleman that was here was very helpful, answered all of his questions, and understood the issues of an older person coming to terms with a physical need and how long it takes to make these kinds of decisions. We have a very narrow stairlift that goes straight up. As a caregiver, I like the safety features of it and the versatility insofar as we can control it and he can too, so he has some independence with it. It's an excellent option for him and for us. It's very sturdy and he's very comfortable on it. I would recommend it and I'm very glad it's here.

We used Stannah Stairlifts when my daughter had hip surgery four years ago. Since they already had the measurement to my stairs, we rented a stairlift from them for a short period of time as my 13-year-old daughter underwent hip surgery again and I couldn't get her upstairs. She's too heavy and big. However, I was not happy with the change in their policy. Before, I only rented the stairlift for three months, but now the policy is six months. That was very irritating and I didn’t feel I had a choice because starting over with another company would’ve been more work for me because I was at the hospital and it would be tricky for me to get back home and have somebody come and measure my stairs. And although it took the guy to install the stairlift a long time, it was fine. He was great and very knowledgeable too. The quality of the stairlift is great as well. It gets my daughter upstairs safely and that's the most important part.

My husband and I have difficulties climbing stairs and especially bringing stuff up or down, and we needed a stairlift. We had different people in for interviews and we were most impressed with the Stannah salesperson. We liked the presentation and the fact that he answered all of our questions. We got a straight stairlift and the guy that installed it was pleasant and very good. He also cleaned up better than when he arrived. However, the stairlift was fine in the beginning but now I've seen in the track that there's a bump. But other than that, we go up and down the stairs with ease. We just recommended it yesterday to my brother, and he came down and tried it out.

They came and did the measurements. With Stannah I don’t have to carry or lift her anymore. She’s slow to use it ‘cause she’s anxious about the equipment but I’m sure over time she’ll use it more and more. The stairlift seems pretty good quality and I’d use Stannah again if I needed it. The guy explained it, and he was informative and polite. The install team was also great and everything went really well. The indoor stairlift goes up a couple of steps then it turns, goes up the major part of the staircase and then turns a little bit. It fits pretty well where it is.

I have a hard time to walk and I need a hip replacement but they can’t give it to me right now. We thought that a stairlift would make it easier for me to get up the stairs because our bedrooms are upstairs. And then, I have a neighbor that has Stannah, and she talked us into it to go with them. The salesperson we dealt with was good. He has a nice presentation and that's why we decided to go with them instead of Acorn. We have a curved stairlift and it fits okay with our townhouse. It does not distract anything. I was a little afraid that it would take away from my little condo, but it did not. The guys who installed it were perfect. They were two young men and they were very good, polite and nice. My experience with the workers was very good.
I like that I just sit on the chair and I go up. It is safe and I don't hesitate to get on it. The quality is very good too, and it is working well. However, the cost is a little high. Also, I called and they came back a few days later because the bottom part that sits in my hallway became dislodged from the foam inside of that little steel thing, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the working process of the chair. It didn’t stop me from using it. Still, overall, I’m very satisfied.

I have got a 91-year-old aunt that has arthritis and pneumonia and we are trying to keep her in the house. I did some research and I just like the way they came across with their ads. And then, I talked to a rep and he was really nice. The tech, after that, was also nice, so that did a lot. I got the straight stairlift and it has a robotic arm that does down to the lower level and it has an automatic turn where it pivots to turn her at the top of the stairs. It also has a footrest that comes out automatic, so it is nice. My aunt is in love with it. It fits right into our home and it's good for her and it leaves enough room for guest to walk around it. It is perfect and it does everything. I like the convenience of not having to struggle over stairs, plus she puts a soft laundry basket and there's a lot to hold the stuff up and down the stairs. She is not struggling with trying to hold stuff and then hold both railings.
The installer who came were polite. The guy was clean and he cleaned up after himself. I felt bad he did it all alone and it took him almost eight hours. I thought maybe another tech should have been helping him. It just seemed like an awful, lot of work for one guy. That was a little weird, but everything else was fine. The cost was reasonable. I would love something for $2000 than just to cost us $57, but it is half a month in an assisted living. It gives her three to five more years in that house before she has to go somewhere else, so it really has a value. I’m already talking to people about it. The neighbors and all came over and wanted to see it. They saw the track there so they’re all happy for her that she got it.

Our straight stairlift from Stannah has a retractable track and it fits in good in our home. It’s easy for my husband to go up and down the stairs and I like sending the laundry up and down the stairs. I’m very satisfied with our stairlift. The quality is very good, and it has a 10-year warranty. And with our stairlift, we can stay in our home longer.
Our experience has been excellent all in all. Somebody I knew had a Stannah stairlift and they had good luck with it. So, I also bought a stairlift from Stannah. The sales visit was very good. Everything was explained to me and there was no pressure to buy the stairlift. The installer was very good and he gave a demo of how it worked. Somebody was going to give me a stairlift for free, and it was going to cost half of the cost to have it removed and brought here and installed. And there was only a couple of years warranty left on the used one, so I bought the new one. And with that, the cost wasn't that bad.
I highly recommend the stairlift to people if they don’t want to give up their homes and go to assisted living or buy another home all on one floor. It is a good option. Also, I'd tell my friends to come over, take a look at our Stannah stairlift, and try it. I think they’ll like it. Also, I like that if I don’t like the stairlift or if it isn’t for me or if I sell our house and the people coming in don’t want it, Stannah will come and remove it free of charge. That is a plus and not many other places would do that without a cost involved.

My mother has limited mobility and the stairs have been becoming more and more difficult for her, so I got a stairlift to make sure that she was safe moving about and still have the freedom of standing to and from the top floor to downstairs without a problem, by herself. When my brother and I were looking at all different types of chairs and we went to the Stannah showroom and they showed us Acorn and all the other brands, it was obvious to us that the Stannah chair had better features. Also, their people were very good about making sure that we have what we needed. We ended up getting a refurbished chair because financially it made a bit of a difference for us. We waited a little longer to get it but it was worth the wait.
The installer was great. They walked my mom through everything and it brought tears to her eyes. It’s a bit of a life change and it’s also the relief of knowing she’s assisted upstairs. Once the chair was set up, it had an automatic swivel on both the top and bottom of the stairs. It was working when they installed it at the bottom of the stairs, but when they left it wasn't working. I don’t know what happened. I have to figure it out.
But my mom is happy with the overall comfort of the chair. She’s tall, about 5’9. We did the Siena and it’s so sturdy, and we also ended up getting the curved rail, which was worth it, based on how my mother has to maneuver to get in and out of the chair with her walker. It was worth the additional money invested for that curved rail. It sets her up best to get into the chair. We made the right decision based on her needs. I would definitely recommend Stannah, and I would tell friends to have them come out and give that computation and make sure they’re checking to see what all the different brands are doing out there for different models, and check against prices.

Stannah has availability and was able to do the work quickly. And the salesman didn't try and outsell me. It was refreshing. He was very informative and gave me all my choices. Because of the configuration of the stairs, the house, and the front door, it was a little difficult. And he was very helpful in designing it and recommending what we need that they have.
A straight stairlift was installed and it fits well. I would have liked it better if the seat had folded up but I understand that's an option on a more expensive and it wasn't necessary. It went on my basement stairs so it was a little tough to get downstairs with that, but we accepted it because it is what it is. You need to have somebody be able to get down the stairs.
Unfortunately the day we put the stairlift in, my mother in law passed away so we didn’t get to use it too much. We had Stannah take it out and their team did a great job in doing it. When we called to have them take it back, they said if we had called sooner, we would have gotten a bigger refund, but we just weren’t thinking at the time when she passed that we were going to call them right away to take it out. I did get a call from the installer on that first scheduled day. And I was like, "Oh no, no, no. You're not coming today. I can't be there." And I have to say he was fabulous. He said, "I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding and I'll get back to you." He then called me right back. And he said, "We're all set. I'll see you tomorrow." There was the little mishap with the scheduling, but they corrected it immediately without any argument. It was wonderful. And he did a great job. He was meticulous, and very concerned about my home and my floors, keeping everything as neat as possible. He gave me a demonstration too.
It was a positive experience from start to finish. And the stairlift has been functioning great. It works and it's smooth. The speed isn't too slow and not obviously fast, which you don't want. Be very careful if you decide to work with Stannah Stairlifts. The person who came out to do the evaluation of our house did not know the product. I'm an occupational therapist and I liked the fact that the Stannah representative had a certification that I was familiar with. But he didn’t use his skills and and we had multiple visits before we got things right. I have an outside lift and initially, it would have ended up in the middle of the doorway and that was obviously not appropriate.
Anyone who comes out to look at the house needs to know how the chair is gonna sit on the lift and where it's gonna end up at, so that that person can use the lift, particularly if the person is very limited in their mobility. My husband had a stroke in October and can't do the stairs. I told them exactly everything that my husband has and they tried to fix it by suggesting to put it on the opposite side of the stairs. But that would never have worked given my husband's limitation and they didn’t seem to look at that.
My husband and I can do a stand with the car stand pivot transfer but he does not walk and that is a critical piece to whether that person can use a lift or not or how it's gonna function for that person. The person who came out to evaluate our home was only looking at the track, not at how the seat's gonna extend over the end of the track and get in the way. He also did not know the specifications that the installers look at like how close the foot plate is to the floor or to the top of the stairs. That's a critical piece to whether they're gonna put your lift in or not. There was too much space and my husband's foot could potentially get caught.
So these people really are very limited. Stannah needs to make sure that every single person who comes and looks at the customers’ houses has enough background and knows all the specs of the lift and how it's going to function. I made full step adjustments to my stairs and the stairlift worked fine. It ended up where it needed to be. A friend and I did the construction ourselves, and it cost me outside the supply. But most people don't have the expertise that I do and for someone who knows nothing about construction or who would need to make other arrangements, to have that additional cost would be ridiculous because they didn’t tell the customer the correct thing in the first place.
But if I didn’t have the knowledge I have and I followed the rep's instructions, they would have had to come out a third time to try to install the stairlift. So I was not happy. I knew more about what they should be doing than he did. But I should not have to be the coordinator of this. That's their job to know and they didn't. I even asked an installer how often the people who come out to look at the house work with installers and vice-versa, and the answer was very disappointing. The installer has been doing it for a long time and he knows only of one person who comes out to look at the house.
Also, I bought a "refurbished lift" and I've had them out three different times to fix things so I'm not overly thrilled. The first time, they put the controls on the wrong side and the power cord wasn’t tracking properly in the track 'cause they didn’t lubricate the wheel initially. Second time, it was getting stuck in a specific spot. They came out but they did not find the problem. He tried to blame it on the foot hitting the footplate or the jacket getting in the way. That was not the issue and I kept telling them it was stuck in a specific spot. Those people weren’t listening and it really made me upset.
The next time they came out, they finally corrected it because they did it as if my husband were sitting on the lift and they did it in the exact conditions I told them to. But that was only because I was standing over them and telling them to do it. It turned out there was a bolt that was loose and it was hitting a bracket at that point. I have used the stairlift since and it worked. The only one bright spot is that they did discount my lift for my hassle initially.

Then I had their person come in, listened to what he had to say, and I was on board. His visit was pleasant and he pointed out things I had questions on. He actually came here two years before when I was thinking about getting one but my mother wasn't living with me then. So, when I revisited their company and investigated other places, I went back to him.
I got the curved stairlift and their reps did what they had to do when they put it in. When they couldn’t deliver when they had to, they made a phone call and told me that they were going to be late with it. Then they came when we thought they might come. They also said it would take about four hours and that was about right. Then they showed me all the parts, had me sit on it, and ran it. The stairlift works fine for me and and the rail that it goes on looks and sounds sturdy enough. But my staircase could have been a little wider because my mother is very tall. So the space is not that great and we had to do a little improvising and move things around for her. I would have also liked for the warranty to be a little bit longer because there was one company that came and theirs had a lifetime guarantee. But apparently the warranty period is about as long as they think the Stannah stairlift is going to last.

I had a stairlift before with another company and they didn't repair the old one that I had, so I purchased another one. I didn’t want to buy it right away and I wanted to rent. I saw Stannah’s commercial on television and I called. I spoke with a very nice sales representative. He was very helpful, and he took care of everything with the paperwork. He called back to give me the date. They came on the date that he said they would come and everything worked out well. The installer was a very nice and informative gentleman. He gave me a good tip with the old chairs that I had. I have six chairs up a platform then seven stairs to get to the second floor and one was still good.
There was one gentleman who came and he put it together. He replaced the six stairs up, and it took about a little less than two hours. He had me test it and also showed me how to operate it and it worked out well. The first time after he left, I didn’t realize that the bars on the side of the chair had to be pushed all the way up for the chair to stop. It's a safety feature and it is very good. So, I called Stannah's customer service and they told me what to do and it worked. I thought it was malfunctioning but I just didn’t know how to operate it properly. Now, I'm an old pro at it.
I like that I don't have to walk up the steep stairs. I also like the comfort of the seat and the style. The gentleman said it was an obsolete chair and he said that I had the last one of the replacements and I'm okay with it. Although, I do not like that I can't put my feet on the platform comfortably. And I leave one foot hanging while I was going down or up that sometimes the back of my knee hurts and makes it sore. Sometimes, I go up without it and just walk up one foot like walking up a stair because it's difficult and the stairs are tiring. Initially years ago, we bought the stairlift for my husband who had neuropathy in his legs. However, he didn’t want to use it, so I started using it and it was the best thing for me because of my knee concerns.
Stannah Stairlifts is a hundred percent for the best. I got it done now and I'm happy. Everything was professional and my experience turned out the way I like it. I would recommend Stannah highly. They give the option to purchase it after you rent it for a certain while and it was a good feature. And if you don't want to buy it at all, you don't have to. You just have to pay a certain amount at certain times. My friend that I referred got the newer chair. So, when I went to her house, I tried it out. I have another friend I want to make a referral also.

I’m getting older and I had hurt my knee previously. My place has two floors and 13 steps. Last winter I had a really difficult time getting up and down the stairs so I said I was going to stay in my home. The Stannah Stairlifts sales representative came earlier on but I didn’t purchase it. Then I got news that my neighbor’s husband passed and had the exact same unit on the exact same site so I was able to get mine from her. Since we are in exactly the same units, the stairlift fits perfectly. It's the heavier duty stairlift and it has the automatic folding arm. And even though I bought mine used, the Stannah people quickly came out and did what they had to do no questions asked. They made sure that it would fit and were very professional all the way around.
The same guy came back the second time. Before they set up the installation, he checked and made sure things were okay. He was great and really nice. He explained everything including the advantages. He was very professional and he did what he had to do. The installation was wonderful. I was sick that day and I was downstairs and the installer was in there. There was one little repair he had to make and it wasn’t that long. It took a little while but he cleaned up everything and he insisted on showing me how to use it. I was feeling really really bad so as soon as he left, I got in my chair and went upstairs. Without the stairlift, I could not have gotten up and down the stairs. And I know that as I get older, I’m going to need it even more so.
I need the stairlift and it is working well but it takes up a lot of space on the stairwell. They did the measurements and they were saying this and that but to be able to use our stairwell, it’s difficult. Even if we put a railing on the opposite side, to get anything up and down the stairs is difficult. I thought the stairlift would be really close to the wall but there is a big gap before he placed it in and that’s because the seat has to go out in back of where he placed it. I don’t use the stairlift every day but for others going up and down the stairs, it makes it difficult. If you have one elderly person that needs it and one elderly person that doesn’t, everyone can ride on the stairlift and that beats being able to use your stairs to keep up your strength.
The quality of the stairlift is good but I couldn’t get new colors. It’s also way more expensive than Acorn, almost by a thousand dollars more. That’s a lot on a person with a fixed income. I have the stairlift down to my basement and there’s no way I could have afforded two. I talked to a friend and I knew they were having difficulties. I asked them how they were doing and I could see they were struggling with walking. I told them to put a stairlift in as it has made a big difference in my life on how I get around the house. I’m not sure how Acorn is on taking up the stairwell but it does take up a bit of the stairwell and makes it hard as a senior to be able to maneuver up and down the stairs which could be more dangerous.
I had the Stannah reps come to my church to look at putting stairlift in our Church for the elderly to be able to go into the fellowship hall. They were very accommodating. I’m sold on the stairlift and I talked to other neighbors in here about it. And I was telling one that I had put it in and they noticed about two days later, there was a truck out in front of their house to do whatever they needed to do like measure. There are a couple of companies out but Stannah is at the top of the list. As you’re getting older and these places that have two floors, you need it.

I can’t navigate the stairs and when you need a stairlift, you have to get it. It’s a matter of life and death. You don’t want to fall down the stairs without it. I had an older Stannah stairlift model in my home and when it went, I put in a rebuilt one. Dealing with their sales rep, Justin, was great. I had a straight stairlift installed and the installer was very pleasant and respectable. He is dependable for the company. I’m still trying to get used to the stairlift and figure out some of its little kinks out, which happens when you buy a rebuilt one. Nonetheless, I would recommend them.

I have MSD. After doing a lot of research Stannah Stairlifts seemed like that one was made the best. The sales rep who came was awesome. He explained everything to my husband and I. Moreover, he answered all our questions and gave us more to think about. He explained things I didn't even think of. For example, I didn't think about getting a stairlift that had an automatic turner on it, which end up being very important.
We had a straight lift installed and it fits very well in our home. The installer who came was great. In addition, the lift's quality is very good and I'm pleased with it. However, the cost is steep and I'll be making payments for it for a long time. I had to have someone put it on their credit card for me and I'm paying them back. But I can now go upstairs anytime I want to. Stannah Stairlifts has been wonderful from the beginning to the end. Their support system is very good. If I needed anything, they were right there. Working with then has been a very good experience and I can't praise them enough. I've suggested them to my friends.

I couldn’t get up my stairs then I went on the internet, I read about Stannah and I took a chance. Everybody that I dealt with presented themselves very well. The sales visit went fine. Then, my interaction with their installation team was good and efficient. They also demonstrated the stairlift before they left. I had a straight stairlift installed and it’s working reliably. I live alone and it allowed me to be mobile. I’m perfectly satisfied with Stannah Stairlifts and I'm glad I have it.

I’ve read write-ups about Stannah Stairlifts and a couple of other companies. I concluded that Stannah looked the best from the way they presented themselves in their ads. My husband was going to have hip surgery and would have difficulty going up and down stairs. And the entrance to the main level is not where the bedrooms are. So, we were looking at dealing with the Stannah Stairlifts.
Then when I went to talk to the doctor’s nurse who was going to have to authorize it in order to take care of making the sales tax disappear, she was far more comfortable signing it on the basis of my asthma than she was on my husband’s temporary problem. And so, she was perfectly willing to sign it for that. And I've got to admit, I've been using the stairlift a great deal. I don’t worry about going up and down stairs anymore. Stannah also had a buyback policy. We know that we are not going to be here over the long haul. We are on waiting list for a CCRC, and I thought that getting some money back is better than nothing.
The stairlift is a straight one and it is by the entrance from the garage, you come into that room. That room is where we have an endless pool. In effect, it works very well since if you are having problems getting up and down, there is now an easy access to the pool and that pool is a very enticing thing to be able to go into.
Our bedroom happens to also be right off the top of the stairs. There’s a little loft that was created when we did a renovation about 10 years ago which includes that loft going into the master bedroom. The master bedroom is now able to come out and go straight down into the pool. I'm just concerned that there is a greater degree of humidity in the air because of the pool. I'm hoping that the amount of humidity is not so great that it causes a problem. In general, we have a tendency to leave our bedroom door open to the loft in order to get the slight degree of humidity that comes on up because during winter the house is always too dry, except in the area where the pool is.
But all was very good. The concept is a great one and I’m very glad we went with it. The company is a very responsible one. The installers are good and the product is very good. The installer finished the job in a relatively short period of time. Then he showed me how to use it. I got out my little book the first day, but after that, I've been flying up and down the stairs on a regular basis. I like riding on it. From everything I've seen, I’m very pleased. And I’ll be more than happy to talk to people asking if it’s a good idea for them.

My mother-in-law is 91 years old and she wants to continue to live in her home. She lives in a big home with a full staircase that goes upstairs and my major concern for her was her ability to navigate those stairs every day. In fact, she had been ill and weak, which only amplified the urgency that we had to get something so that she could safely navigate the stairs.
I purchased Stannah Stairlifts after it was recommended by a friend. Their salesperson met me at my mother-in-law's home and he took some preliminary measurements. We discussed the options that would work best for her. He made sure that the measurements were consistent with what they were able to install. The people I spoke with on the phone and the person that came to the house were very knowledgeable. There was no pressure sale there for me. They gave me the information I wanted.
And when the installation team came, my mother-in-law was there and she was very pleased with the service. They came when they said they were gonna come and they finished when they said they were gonna finish. They gave her lessons on how to use it as well so that she was comfortable with it. So far, the stair lift has a very big impact in her life. For her, it was a great thing to have. And the seat is very sturdy and the mechanism works fine. The cost is consistent with the quality. Overall, I had a good experience and I would recommend Stannah Stairlifts as well.

The quality of the stairlift turned out to be excellent. It was a little bigger than I thought but the rep explained that the track was going to come out into the hallway area a little bit so that wasn’t a surprise. He was very professional, kind and understanding of difficult situations. And then the installer was very good with my mother-in-law and helpful in teaching her how to use it. It has been a seamless experience.

We're getting older and getting a Stannah Stairlift is a precaution for falls and stuff. The sales visit was really remarkable and I received all the information I needed. I have a very narrow stairway and the rep was concerned the lift wouldn't fit so I ended up having a door frame taken off by my contractor. I had a curved lift installed. It comes from the top floor that had a little hump, then goes down closing around in the kitchen and then to the family room. It fits the house well and doesn't scream, "Well, look at me. I've got a stairlift here." The wall was a sort of cream color and I've got the cream seat so it matches. Initially, they put in the tan one and any of the other colors would have still screamed, "Look at me."
I made sure my contractors were here when the 2 installers came. The installers were here all day and were very polite and professional. They had a hard time leveling the lift because of how it was, the width of the stairs and the height of the tread. The installation wasn't disruptive because I knew they were coming and I planned for it. I usually use the stairlift first thing in the morning when I'm stiff as a stick and I don't want to fall going down. I use it more because of the fact that I have sore feet and I love using it as a dumbwaiter. It's closest to the garage so I put things on there and send it off to the kitchen. While no one is in a wheelchair and the stairlift is expensive, I'm trying to have the house totally handicap-accessible and having a stairlift is cheaper than a nursing home.

My aunt Helen is 98 years old and is in rehab right now. She lives on the second floor and she’ll be needing a stairlift when she comes home. I looked at all of the stairlift companies and saw that Stannah had a showroom up in Elmswood which isn’t too far away. It was a good idea to go to the showroom and see a Broadway show in the theater up there and make it all in one trip just to get an idea of what was going on and I liked what I saw.
The Stannah rep came to our home and he gave us the cons and mostly the pros of taking that stairlift which sounded really reasonable. The installer was one young fellow and he was very good and professional. I got the straight stairlift and it fits very well. There’s a pillar at the bottom of the staircase which is pretty narrow but it works out very well. That was the main thing to get the model, we did something that was closer to the wall and takes up less room. I like the ease of using the stairlift. I was happy with what I purchased.

I planned on getting a Stannah stairlift over a year ago but my wife was in and out of the hospital and she could and couldn't walk. It got to the point where we really needed it. I called Stannah and a rep came out the next day. He looked it over and went over all the different variations and he said, "Basically, the straight stairlift is about all you can put in here unless you do more carpentry work." He then gave me the price. I got a $200 off because I got the original ad out of one of those things that come through the mail. Plus everybody I recommended buys one and I get another $200. We didn't have much time then because my wife was scheduled to come home so he re-scheduled someone else's installation so I could get this done a day before she came home.
The one we got was a straight model because at the top we have very little space and at the bottom we don't really have that much space to make a curve. I liked that it has a vertical rail and it's close to the wall. Some of the other stairlifts have a horizontal rail which takes up a lot of the step and we only had a 35-inch wide step. The only thing I wish is that the seat would be able to pivot to the left. Right now the seat only pivots right and it's a manual latch. If I wanted it to pivot left I'd have to go with the automatic system which cost $300 more.
In order to install it I had to take the door frame out because otherwise it would infringe on the steps. Also my wife would not be able to rotate the seat. I then had the drywall guy come over to fix the wall. I also had to pre-install the electrical outlet where the battery charger is because the outlet was on the other side of a door and you can't have an extension or a cord running over to the other side. The installer came at 8:33 and finished by 11:00. He just worked.
The unit is good quality and the rail is very substantial. The only thing that bothered me was we have rails on either side of the stairway. We had to one take the one off when the chair goes up because the stair goes within a half-inch of the wall. But I found that I could use the rail. The rail is shaped just like a stairlift so I use that to brace myself going up on the radiant side.

My wife was having a lot of trouble walking up the stairs. She has leg problems and she was down to a point where she couldn't really walk the stairs and she didn't want to move the bedroom downstairs. We have a room but she wanted to stay up in our big bedroom. I saw Stannah Stairlifts’ ad on the Yankee magazine that said they have a showroom in Franklin, Massachusetts. I called them up and said that I got all the measurements with my stairway and I wanted to look at their stairlifts as I needed something that would fit my narrow stairway. The rep said that if I wanted to come, she’d fit me in between their appointments. She was very good about it and she asked if she could schedule me at 12 o'clock of the same day and I said yes.
I was taken in to the showroom and Nate showed me the four-stairway on display there. I took my measurements and he explained that the stairlift should work. I looked it all over, took a ride on it, and I liked it. I wanted to get the one with the bottom lifts up and the chair that had the electric swivel on it. I told them to set me up with a salesman to come out and the woman that I talked to on the phone did it. Then, a salesman came out and he told me about his feelings about the stairway that I wanted. He made it in such a way that the stairlift would lift with a straight base on it and didn't need the lift up piece on the bottom. It sticks out for a few inches in the doorway coming in from the dining room, and no one would trip on that, being that close to the edge of the doorway. And when the chair is down there, it’s near the bottom so you’ll see the chair. It made a lot of sense to me.
He also told me when the chair goes up to the top, it swivels and it's wide enough so when my wife gets off the chair, it will be impossible for her to fall down the stairway. The stairlift swivels to the platform upstairs and it works. We went over the whole thing and he spent quite a bit of time with us to do that so we agreed to it. We were asked to sign the papers then two weeks later, the seller called me up and came over. He had the stairlift in in about four hours and he was a nice guy. He talked to us a lot about the whole thing, too, and I was impressed with him.
My wife is very happy with the stairlift. When she comes upstairs, I don't even hear it running on the stairs. We're very much satisfied with it. Even though we got a small, narrow stairway, it works out fine. There's also plenty of room when it's down. And when she lifts the handle and it's flat against the wall, there's room enough to walk by and not fall into it. My son also lives here and he has a bedroom upstairs, and neither one of us have a problem walking by it. And when it gets down to the bottom, where the stairway is a little wider, it gives us a few more inches but it's not an inconvenience walking by that.
I put an outlet in at the top of the stairs where we plug the charger in. The quality of the stairlift is good. It's mounted to the steps well and there are wall brackets and holes in the track going up and down so there's no move or anything. It's nice and steady. It's like a cog. You got to gear it in and it takes you up and takes you down. I also like the chair that automatically swivels. I'd recommend Stannah Stairlifts. Everybody I spoke to there was very nice.

Somebody recommended Stannah Stairlifts. The straight stairlift was purchased from them to make it easy to go upstairs and down. It's perfect. It fits with the decor. The people who came in were very efficient. Within the short time, they were able to finish the installation and then they put everything back in place. They were very neat. They positioned it in a way that it wouldn't interfere with anything and they made it blend in with the house so it's not an eyesore.
The stairway and the living room is split by a wall. And there's a door that goes in between the living room and then into the stairs, that goes upstairs. There's a lever, that is like three feet, that is installed in a way that when the chair is coming down, it blocks the doorway. But then, it's not that straight, there's a split from the doorway to the other side so that folds back onto a beam of the chair, so it doesn't block the way and it doesn't prevent you from going to the living room.
I recommend Stannah Stairlifts. It's very economical. It's not too bulky and it stay out of the way, not like a fire hazard. Sometimes the kids play around with it. They sit and lift themselves all the way up then come down. And everybody who comes in was asked if they would like to try it. It feels so comfortable. They go back and forth. It's something that I'd like to install in my own home in case I have a two story as it's not handicapped accessible.

I had a foot surgery and I can't walk for several months so I got a straight indoor stairlift from Stannah installed and we rented it. Their rep answered all my questions and was very cooperative. The installer was fine but one of our stair treads cracked when he put a screw in. I called up and the rep I talked to told me to send them the bill after I get it fixed, which was fine with me. So far, the unit works. It's not very aesthetic, but I didn't have a choice. I like that I don't have to walk up and down the stairs. The quality is fine. It's pretty expensive, but sometimes you just got to do it. If you need a stairlift, Stannah has good products and is a good company to deal with. My experience was great and I'd recommend them.

My mother, a 93-year old woman, came to live with us. She had a Stannah Stairlift at her previous residence and we decided to get one, too. The sales rep came out and explained all the different options available. We chose one that seemed best both in terms of the equipment we needed and the price. They then scheduled the time to install our straight stairlift.
Within the first two weeks of installation, they had to come back three times before it was operational and it was very frustrating. When they first came out to install it, my mother wasn't available, so the seat was too high and they had to come back to adjust it. Then it kept getting stuck repeatedly, going up and coming down, so we had two other service calls. There needs to be more QA in terms of the installation and of checking the product out before it gets to their client's house. They were good about fixing it for us but we shouldn't have had to go through that. Other than that, the lift's quality is good. Although it's used, it is sturdy and reliable. Stannah Stairlifts is the best option.

Stannah Stairlifts is completely satisfying to me. We made two or three different calls in and they were very responsive. They are very obliging and very pleasant starting with the original salesman. The track that it runs on had gone beyond the point where it should have at the bottom of the stairs so there wasn't room for my walker to go through. Two young boys came in. They were very workmanlike and made the correction. They made the adjustment to make the track about two inches shorter so that my walker could go through and I could get on to the lift. I am liking it very much.
There was one other we looked at and I like it almost equally as well. They were both quite satisfactory and both had a pleasant salesperson. But it helped that I had had the chance to try Stannah at a friend's house to choose them over the other company plus the reputation that they seemed to have. I also liked their advertising that I have seen.
I had a hard time deciding between the two styles of railing that they ride on. I am glad I decided on the double rail versus the broad rail against the wall. It doesn't look as quite as bulky to me. It's a little more delicate and I like having the automatic foot lift which is very convenient. I just have to press the button and have the foot lift.

I checked two stairlift providers and although Stannah's rental rate after the rental period is over is higher, the rental cost for six months is lower. The sales representative was very helpful and all expectations were set well. The installer who came was also great but I have to call back because the stairlift is plugged in on a switch and it just doesn't work. For my mother, it takes a little bit on the swivel part to get a hang of the stairlift and I know there's an automated way to make that happen but that would be the only thing that needs to be changed for me. Otherwise, it works fine and it's what we expected. I'd recommend them.

I wanted a stairlift because of my disability and I've been watching the ads on TV for Acorn. I talked about it, and then my family told me to go ahead and do it, so I had Acorn come in. The rep talked to me and I told him I didn't know how they sold items with the bad feedback they had online. They only had 2 stars and I told the rep I don't think I would go with them. The next company I talked to was Bruno and they were good, but I thought I'd try Stannah. Everything the others had that I wanted were all add-ons and were an extra $500 or so. With Stannah, they came all built-in and there's a one-year warranty on anything that might go wrong with it, other than the motor and the railing, which were under warranty for 10 years. That's fantastic. Their service charges are lower too. The others' service charge was $250 to come in, while with Stannah, it's $179.
The sales rep was a great guy, but what sold me most on Stannah besides all the other things is that I'm in Massachusetts and their headquarters is also in Massachusetts, a few towns over from me. If I needed parts, they're available within a day or so. Acorn comes from Florida and they job out the people that come in, while Bruno comes from Tennessee. I would rather stay local and I did. I live in a four-story townhouse and I had two sets put in. The two men who came put one in the area coming from my front door up to my living quarters, and then I had another one put in my living quarters to the second floor, which would be the third floor if you call the basement. If I had to give up going to the third floor, which is the top floor of my bedroom, I would be right on the guestroom floor and that would work out all right with me. I like the stairlift and I feel that it's the best I could get.

I love Stannah Stairlifts. My experience with the rep was really good. He was very helpful and explained everything. Sometimes, others use fancy words and everything you don't really know. But this guy was very good. Also, the installer was good. He did what he had to do. I and my husband love the stairlift. He has a problem with his knees and he said he's feeling so much better having that thing going up and down.
We live in a house where we got the garages underneath the living room and when I used to come home from shopping, I used to have to drag all those bags up the stairs. We bought a basket that fits into the seat of the stairlift and I put all my groceries in there. We send it up and I take the grocery bags one after the other off of it. I do the same way with my laundry. I'll take it out of the dryer, put it on in a basket and I'll come up and then bring it down. My husband puts the laundry basket on that and brings it back up to me. No carrying of anything. It's great. We already told our friends about it.

Stannah had a good review online. They had a very nice program to say that I can try the product out. In choosing the right stairlift, the rep also explained one or two differences, that I was like "Nope, don't want that." I like the stairlift's form plate. I've been using it for probably about two months and it has affected my everyday life tremendously. I'm able to go upstairs without a problem. Everything went very smoothly and perfectly well with Stannah.

I researched the various offerings on the internet and Stannah seemed to be the oldest and most responsible company that's involved in the industry. I had a very pleasant experience with their sales rep. He was knowledgeable and answered our questions, and that's part of what prompted us to go ahead and continue the installation. The installation took about three hours and went very smooth. The fellow knew what he was doing and at the end of the installation, everything worked. He also went over any of the important features that we should know about. Our stairlift has made life easier for me and my wife. I have difficulty going up and down the stairs so it was very helpful for me. And my wife can now move groceries and laundry up and down the stairs by putting them in the chair and running the chair up and down. If anybody is interested in looking at stairlifts, Stannah should be on their shortlist.

I had looked at different stairlifts but Stannah happened to be a local company and I liked that idea. I could go to the office and look at the stairlift if I wanted to. The sales rep was an older gentleman who certainly knew everything about stairlifts. He tried to present not only a new lift but a used one too. So he was good enough to give me alternatives even when I didn't ask for other specific options. The installation experience went smoothly. The installer came when he was supposed to and took about as long as the salesperson told me he would. I was also perfectly prepared for how far the stairlift would come out and about not removing the rail because I didn’t want it removed. There were no surprises. It was clean and easy. I signed off on it and got the instruction.
My mother-in-law is extremely weak at night and we could get her up the stairs but I felt like it was jeopardizing us, the ones who were trying to help her. The stairlift has helped a great deal. The stairlift comes with not just the ability to control it when you're sitting in it, but I also like the idea of having two remote controls. It was not that I thought that was going to be anything of great need, but we use the two remotes all the time when we're either up or down. The person who's using the stairlift can actually control it herself too. My 95-year-old mother-in-law is losing her independence and it’s nice to be able to give her the freedom to go up and down when she wants to. But when the stairlift is not in use and I'm upstairs and I want to move it somewhere, it’s nice to have the control where I have the remote. It works that well.
There's also a button that you can push for the footrest to come up and down and it's extremely convenient. But the button is right next to the on-off button and my mother-in-law kept pressing that button when she wanted to turn the stairlift on. She would try different buttons and she would finally get it but the piece actually broke. It wasn't just her either. The PT and OT from VNA who came in also did the same thing. They kept pressing the button so the stairlift would only partially either go up or down.
We had to manually put the stairlift and that had done something to it. I don't know if it blew or surged, and it was not something that I thought would be a big deal, but it evidently is a big deal when you're an elder or somebody who doesn’t know the equipment. Otherwise, the stairlift is a nice piece of equipment that looks decent when it's installed. The company also did what they said they were going to do, which was very important.

We had both Acorn and Stannah come out and though the guy from Acorn was okay, we felt much more comfortable with Stannah. The rep from Stannah was very sociable and seems much more knowledgeable. We were going to have the Acorn guy back to find out about the price after we had the stairs redone, but then my wife just said, “No,” and let Stannah put the stairlift in. So, they did. The installation team was one fellow and he was exceptionally good and knowledgeable, and everything worked out very good.
We like that the stair lift goes up and down the cellar stairs, from the main floor to the cellar, and it's very helpful. I'm having a little heart problem and the stair lift makes a tremendous difference. Also, my wife is old, we're about the same age, and she has bad knees. And now, she doesn't mind going up and down stairs. She was against it at first. But now, she uses any excuse to go down the cellar. We have told a number of people about Stannah and we've invited people over to try it. Before we got it, we went and tried the stair lift at a person's house. It's the best way of finding out if you can use it. And if I had to do it over again, I'd do the same thing. Stannah’s people were very pleasant and the fellow who put it in was terrific.

I had my 91-year old mother come from Cleveland to Boston for Christmas and I rented Stannah’s Stairlift for six months. During their sales visit, the dealing I had with them was great and they completely helped me choose the right one for her needs. The installer put it in and left in after an hour and a half. When I had a bumper delivered from my husband's car during that time for Christmas, he was over the top and helped me put it under the tree. He answered my question also perfectly. It turns out that it's the same price to have it for one week as it is for six months so we figured we're going to own it for six months and it was cheaper than it is to buy it outright.
Next year, I'm not sure if she's going to make it, but the stairlift made it more possible for her. The whole thing worked really well. With it, I didn’t have to carry my mother up the stairs. There was an option of renting it for $150 a month and God willing, my mother will make it back for next Christmas. My experience with them has been awesome and if a friend inquired me about Stannah, I would say to go for it fully. I also dropped off brochures for Stannah so that people know that they can rent them.

I like how easy the stairlift from Stannah Stairlifts is to use. I'm disabled so I use it every day and I'm thankful for it. At first, I was a little nervous using it but it has been a lifesaver. We felt comfortable going with them since they have a store in town. We went there and everybody was informative and we had a good experience. Also, because they were in our town, we have seen the other reviews. The sales rep came then out to our house, which was then yet to be officially ours, to measure everything. We did that because we wanted to make sure that it would all work out if we did the buy the house since without a stairlift, the house wouldn't work for us. They were able to answer all of our questions and they were also very thorough and informative.
A guy then the came out and spent half a day here to install the unit. He was a hard worker and he got it done. He discussed how everything works, what he was going to be doing and where everything was going to end before he did the installation. He also asked for any questions that we may have. The only thing I wish it had was a home base that you can set somewhere on the staircase. You can then just hit home for it to go charge rather than having to stand there after you use it and wait for it to go all the way back up to the charging station. We tell everybody that we use a Stannah stairlift and that we had a great experience and just how happy we've been with the whole process.

So from beginning to end, it was done very professionally. So far, we're very pleased with the installation and it has served the purpose for which we bought it. We liked the way the Stannah stairlift worked, the way it was set up on the stairs, and how it turned to load a person off instead of on a step. We thought it was a very well-built type of thing that we needed. Their sales rep was very helpful, very convincing, and very good. When the stairlift was installed, there was only one person here and he was excellent. The stairlift gave me access to things that I do on the second floor. I have a few hobbies and most of them are located up there. The only thing is, it would be good if maybe when they're in the area if a sales rep would come in. I have a little concern about the security of one of the supports on the step. It makes a noise and I'm wondering if it's just a normal noise or whether it's something that should be tightened.

I wasn't sure I was going to be getting anything and it became more apparent to me that I'm going to need something. Stannah Stairlifts’ advertising was better and their name popped up as I looked for something up online. They were more prevalent in terms of their marketing than other companies. I'm an occupational therapist and their name was in some of my catalogs. I don't use it daily. It's hard for me to go up or down anywhere. I've only used it a couple of times. And sometimes, somebody bumps into this thing and then it goes down to seven, where it doesn't move. I've been in it where the stairlift doesn't go down or up and it's because people are bumping into it. You go up and down the stairs and it's jetting out too much so that's annoying, where I've had myself and my mother strapped.
I have a 97-year-old mother living with me and now she can't walk down the stairs because the stairlift sticks out of when she has to use it. But if the thing has been on seven because somebody bumped into it and changed the settings, it's not going to work. It has to be on two. She's been in it and I've been in it, and it doesn't go anywhere. I have to get up and somehow get this thing to work. I just needed it when I'm going down. The weather is cold and there's ice and I can't take a chance slipping so it’s not going out very much. I'm not extremely happy with it. When Edwin, the salesperson, came to the house, he looked at the space. My husband was there with me and he said there was no problem in installing the stairlift and that we needed to pay to have the retractable track extension added.
He also talked to me about the swivel and that was the only concern. He said the space was fine. When the technician came to the house, one of the first things he asked me at the time, "Do you want the banister removed?" And I said, "No." He didn't explain to me why the banister should be removed. I didn't get the reason why. He said, "Okay." He put the stairlift in but it's too narrow. And I did not see it completed until four hours later or more when he was done. The problem is I can get in this thing down but if I'm carrying something, I have to be careful that I don't hit the other side because if the banister would have been removed, more space would have been better. When people are walking up or down the stairs -- my husband and my daughter almost fall down the stairs sometimes -- they get caught on the stairlift, and this is a safety issue. And it was something that Edwin or anyone in the company never addressed with us.
The technician that called the house before told me that this is something that should not have been discussed with us by the installer. In other words, they don't make that recommendation. And maybe, he saw the space and he thought in his mind that it should be done but he didn't present that way either. I'm not mechanically inclined and I have no idea what he was really talking about. But if he explained, “You're going to have a very little room for anybody to get by. It's really too narrow.” I would have said to him, "Fine, do it. Do what you need to do." They wanted to make a sale and that was it. They got a sucker in me. This is something that should have been addressed because this is a safety issue. I got to use the chair a couple of times to go to a doctor's appointment and my husband carried blankets for me. He took the walker and had to go down the stairs but had almost fallen down the stairs. He got caught on the chairlift.
It was the same thing for somebody carrying a bag. It's really something in the marketing of this thing. Edwin should have made this into an issue. He measured and it was nothing that was ever mentioned. I have to hold my leg too that I don't bump into the other side because it's bulky and I have very little room. I hope that with the next customer, they should come back and fix this. Now that I'm getting stronger, it's a phone call that should be made. They should come and fix this thing. It was not something that was done properly. And Edwin instructed me, “Well, we won't install the track unless you get the retractable. We won't give you because of the safety issue.” That's how he presented it to me. We went ahead and spent $900 more to get the retractable tracks. This is more of a safety issue than that, it's basic installation.
Hi Judith,
We're sorry that you have been displeased with your installation. From your review, it sounds like it would have been better to remove the handrail, as the technician recommended. We're sorry that we did not communicate our reasoning clearly enough. Keeping a handrail alongside your stairlift, is going to invariably reduce the amount of space on the staircase. Additionally, bumping into the safety edges or swivel levers is going to prevent the lift from operating, because the stairlift will think that you're either running into something or trying to turn the chair. The retractable rail is only recommended in certain situations, where there is an obstruction at the bottom of the stairs or if it is a potential a tripping hazard. Edwin would only have recommended this as a safety option, if it were absolutely necessary. We want you to be happy with your stairlift, as it should be something that makes your life easier, not the other way around. One of our managers will be reaching out to you to discuss removing the handrail and reinstalling your stairlift, so that it will fit better in your home. We hope that this will clear up the issues you've been having and improve your experience with Stannah.
Sincerely,
The Stannah Team

It was a great experience that I had with Stannah Stairlifts. When I started calling around, they were the first ones to get back to me. And then I looked online about how the company was run and what other people thought of different companies. Stannah had the best customer service rating. I called them and they called me back, and they came out. The gentleman who came out to the house to give me a price looked at the house, sat down with me, explained everything and showed me videos. He was really good. And so I decided to buy it. A young gentleman came in to install it. He couldn't have been nicer. He explained more about how to do it. And they were in and out of here within three hours. It was a good experience all the way around with the customer service; with the installation and with the first guy who came out to give me the estimate. Everything was out in the open and upfront.
And then I had a problem because I didn't remember how to get the footrest up. I was pulling it up myself. When I called them, they said they'll send someone out to the house on that day. But they asked me first to hit the reset button and then they explained to me what problem it is. I told them it doesn't go. I was with the understanding that when I lifted the seat up to the full position, the footrest would automatically come up. I forgot that I had to hit a button on them. So I reset it. They taught me right over the phone how to do it. And it's done. It has run perfectly.
It's wonderful because I'd only have a problem getting my husband up and down the stairs. We have 14 stairs up to the second floor. So, it has really helped a lot. I like that the Stannah stairlift has a lot of safety features. It won't move if it's not in the right position. My husband is saying it's a two-hand operation. And he has problems with his left arm. So, it's a little difficult for him but he just needs to use his feet to turn it around. I would definitely recommend Stannah.

I found Stannah Stairlifts quite helpful. I used them 10 years ago as a rental when I broke my foot. Then they came two weeks ago and put in a stairlift now that we're going to keep one. Most of these companies are all the same. It was just that I knew Stannah Stairlifts, I liked them, and I had a good service last time. I enjoyed having the sales rep over here. The installation process took longer than I thought it would since I remember it being shorter last time. But the installer cleaned up after himself, showed me how to use the stairlift again, and left me a lot of materials. Both their sales rep and installer were very nice and very helpful.
For now, I've been using the stairlift mostly to send down my laundry to the basement. And when I go shopping, I have big bundles sent upstairs on it since I can still walk well and I want to continue with my exercise. So, that's very helpful. I am perfectly happy with Stannah and I would recommend them to people in our age group.

I was investigating stairlifts and I found Stannah Stairlifts on the internet. They were quick to respond, the price was reasonable and I had a rental option. Some of the other places I contacted, I had to buy them outright. The sales rep was great, informative and he went through everything with me. He told me all the different options we had like the six months rental and the option to buy at that point or I could buy it outright.
The installer set it up and said it would take about two plus hours. He did it in that amount of time. He showed us how it worked and explained if there were any issues. He asked me several times the location of where I wanted it installed or how I wanted it installed and we were all in agreement. He was very thorough and it was very easy to work with.
The stairlift works as I expected it to. It has a lot of safety features built into it, it has the strap and the armrest and there are tilts to move sideways. It is easy to operate and it seems to be safe. The ride is very smooth. We use it for an elderly parent who can’t get upstairs. We have to get him up there so he could shower. And we do that three times a week. We also use it to carry up some heavy stuff. We've had it for a month and I’m very pleased with it. In fact, I’ve recommended it to few other people. I'm very happy with it. The sales rep was excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly and a real gentleman. This is the man that I would like to deal with in any type of transaction. Also, the installation team was very neat, particular and did a beautiful job.
I like the fact that the stairlift’s chair swings at the top so that I can wind up on the level that I actually want to be on rather than have to step up a step. It is quiet and reasonably fast. Having it made life a lot easier. It's made it possible for me to go upstairs. It has gotten to the point where I can't climb any stairs and we do not have a shower downstairs so it came in a nick of time. I used to fight my way upstairs but I wouldn't make it now. I am very disappointed. Stannah Stairlifts never called back to see if we were happy with the installation. They sold it to us, they came and installed it. That was at least four or five weeks ago. Somebody from the company should have called to say, "Were you satisfied the way they handled the installation?" Nothing. No follow-through. It was like make the sale and run, like a used car salesman, so I was a little taken back by that. The customer never received a follow-up call whether they were happy or not, which is utterly shocking. You don't do business that way. Both installers were very polite gentlemen. One installer was very knowledgeable and very nice but the other one was very young. He was very sweet but he took a ridiculous amount of time and was a little sloppy because I saw nails all over my driveway when I went out from my car. He could have cleaned up a little bit better.
Nothing was done with any consideration. It was a very bad day and there was a lot of rain and I saw them trooping to my house at first on their shoes with mud and all. I said, "Not on my wood floors.” They didn’t have any type of wall covering or something. My husband looked at another stairlift – Acorn. I wasn't around when the guy came and my husband had a little apprehension but when he told me the guy said, "Oh when you gotta sell you have, this could be, you know, a plus with this stairlift." I said, "No way. It's a negative. How could he be so stupid to even say that to you?”
The plus on Stannah Stairlifts was we co-rented for six months. I don't want this as decoration of my house. It's not the type of furniture I want at my house. I don't know what's the situation's going to be with my husband but as soon as I get it, I'd be so happy to get it out of the house. It helped my husband going through the steps although it made mine a little more difficult. In one of the staircases, they had to put down a little narrow. But we did it for him.
Hi Brenda,
We're sorry that you did not receive a follow-up call. We do try to check-in with our customers after installation, but sometimes, we don't end up getting in touch until we come back for the initial inspection a few months later. We're glad that you liked the installers, who came by, but we're sorry about the mess. It's tricky on a snowy/rainy day, as they have to go back and forth to the van, but need to wear shoes for safety. Also, not sure about the nails in the driveway. We do not use nails, but if any parts or equipment were left behind, that's on us and we apologize. We're glad that you chose to go with us and that our short-term rental option worked for you and your husband. And while it might not be your favorite piece of furniture, we hope that the stairlift continues to serve you well.
Sincerely,
The Stannah Team

We looked at company reputations and Stannah has a good approval rating. During their sales visit, they seemed to be knowledgeable, they made recommendations and explained every detail. They recommended putting the handrail and setting it more so I had a contractor come out to do that. But there was a small glitch because we have a dropped ceiling downstairs and there was nothing solid to mount it to. So the contractor's recommendation was to mount it on the other side. I called Stannah and their rep, Tony, looked at the pictures again and said that the contractor was absolutely right. Then the installer came and he explained every feature of the stairlift, how to operate it, and the keying. He was only here about four hours so he did a good job. I live upstairs and my sister lives downstairs. She was having some knee problems and the stairlift had taken care of that. Also, the stairlift rides smoothly.

Our neighbors had done a very exhaustive search of stairlifts companies and ended up going with Stannah. We trusted their research and I was told later that Stannah was the best. The sales rep was imaginative and thoughtful about where we wanted to put the stairlifts and how to do them. He did that in an outstanding way. We have three stairlifts and the installer did a great job of installing them.
However, I called Stannah yesterday because I was noticing that there were dark marks on another one of the stairlifts. I was told to try to remove some with Windex and some paper towel. I was surprised that they came off. That must be dirt from the mechanism of the machine. We’ve only had the stairlifts for a couple of weeks so, it’s not like there’s been any huge accumulation of dust on them. But the contractor is worried that one of the stairlifts has an actual wear on the rail, which shouldn’t happen at all. The contractor wrote a note to the installer but hasn’t gotten a reply back yet. Stannah has been responsive but there have been these couple of hiccups with the equipment. And so, we just want to make sure that the questions that we have are responded to. They could at least pass their call on or respond in some way. And until that situation is resolved, I will only be partially satisfied.

I’m 71 and my wife is 66 and we’re both still working every day. We’re capable but it is 15 steps to the main level when we drive into the garage and it’s a pain in the neck on grocery days. We had looked at putting in a dumb waiter and we even looked at putting in an elevator. The elevator was too expensive and the dumb waiter wasn’t structurally feasible for what we wanted. So we put in the stairlift with the forethought that we’re going to need it eventually. We had called a couple of companies and got it down to two. The Stannah Stairlifts salesman was the first one out. He was good and he sold us on the product.
The installation took approximately four hours. It was an 8:00 to 12:00 window and the installer was here at 8:00 a.m. on the nose. There was no charge as long as we let them know within a week that we didn’t like it. We decided on the sixth day that it was not working for us. We were happy with the product but the staircase was so narrow that we couldn’t get up and down easily carrying anything without having to use the chair. My wife tripped once and I was also in downstairs headlong. We had the stairlift returned because it was more of a hindrance than something worthwhile at that time. So I set it up and got a full refund. Other than that, I was very happy with Stannah Stairlifts and when the appropriate time comes, we will go with them again.

I called Acorn once and they wouldn't work with me. I called Stannah Stairlifts because somebody I know has a Stannah, and I'm very happy with it. The salesman was great. He explained everything and worked with me. Also, the installation guy was awesome. He had a problem with one of the PC boards and he had to call, and the other guy came and he delivered the PC board to him within half an hour. He cleaned up after himself, was very friendly and he knew all about the product. He also showed me a couple things and before he left, he showed me how it worked. We sat my wife on it and he went through everything. My wife has had two strokes and the stairlift gets her up and down the stairs. It saves our backs and helps tremendously. It does what it's supposed to do and I couldn’t be happier.

Stannah Stairlifts was the name that stuck in my head over other stairlift providers. The salesman we had, Doug, was very good at explaining the three different types of stairlifts and we were able to pick the right one. The gentleman who came to put the stairlift in took about three hours and cleaned up after the installation. I have it for a month now and it is working very nicely. My mother and I could get up and down the stairs easier with it. She’s in her 80’s and has a hard time with the stairs, and I’m having a bit of a leg problem. I would recommend Stannah very much because we enjoyed the service we got and we've had no problems with their product so far.

Stannah Stairlifts had the features I was looking for. We have a straight stairway and their stairlift had the automatic fold-up thing at the bottom, plus it pivoted at the top. I also liked the idea that they've got the buy back program and they had a competitive price. When the sales reps were here, my wife was comfortable with them. And when the installer was here, he was accurate as far as what he was doing and how long it would take. He told me he would do it in five hours and he did a good job. The stairlift was expensive but when my mom came up for Thanksgiving and she used it, it worked wonderfully. She couldn’t have negotiated the stairs without it.

Stannah has a long history of reliability. I got their stairlift for my spouse and their salesperson was very informative and not pushy. The installation was also done well and efficiently. The installers who came out were knowledgeable and neat. I'm very satisfied with the stairlift and I like that it runs smoothly and quietly. But I’m waiting to see if it holds up over time. I also wish that the chair turned the full 90 degrees when it got upstairs, to face the stairs rather than a slight angle that makes it a little harder for my spouse to get on and off. It’s like an 80-degree angle and, in my mind, it’s a design fault because for someone who’s really handicapped, they need to back up to it. Other than that, I’m happy with my experience. They’re very professional, informative and accurate. I would also highly recommend their product but with an explanation about the seat not turning a full 90 degrees to face the upstairs platform.

I was disappointed during the first time we came up with the price of the Stannah stairlift. Then, instead of having it on the right side, we moved it over to the left side and the price went up $1,000 more and I was also disappointed in that. I didn’t think it was worth that kind of money just because they had to make that curve. However, they haven’t made the curve and there was still a price rise so I wasn't happy with that. But, the installation was fine and they did a good job. The installers were really knowledgeable and they gave me a good explanation of how it works and how to use it. They also cleaned up after they got through. My son and my wife use our Stannah stairlift and so far, it has been working good. But, it's not as smooth as I thought it was going to be.

I have mobility problems especially getting up and down. I go downstairs from the kitchen to my office. The laundry room and my husband's workroom are down there, too. I’m up and down all day long from the first floor to the bottom floor and it became too much for both myself and my husband who's now battling another big problem. We both have leg problems now and I have lower back problems and that’s what prompted us to look at Stannah Stairlifts.
I went online extensively this summer and fall, studied Bruno, Acorn and Stannah and other independent ones. I looked up the pros and cons of each. I would certainly not buy an Acorn based on the reviews and the problems. Bruno did better but Stannah did the best. Also, they were priced very appropriately. In addition, there was a lovely new assisted-living place being built almost ready for occupancy but it was $8,000 for what we wanted. With two stairlifts, that equals one month at Brightview would cost us. We figured it was cost-appropriate. We love where we live and we love our neighbors. We’re close to our family in the same town so we’d love to stay in our condominium as long as we can. The Stannah Stairlifts is giving us that option. So, there was no doubt in my mind that we were going with Stannah based on the reviews, the service, and the product. We were so thrilled with it.
Their people were so professional, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. They answered all our questions and explained everything to us so clearly. They also took all the time in the world and they were outstanding. The installer was an absolute gem. Everything was perfect. I called today to put in an order for a different set of stairs in the same home.

The Stannah Stairlifts sales rep was very good in addressing my problem. However, they could have gotten back to me a little sooner. He said he put a rush on it but it's been a month so I had to call them back. I was disappointed with that. If you’re getting a stairlift that means you need it. Nevertheless, I was very happy with them. Their reps were very nice and the installation team was fine. Their stairlift has good quality although I’ve only ridden it once. I got it for my groceries because I have a bad back and it was a lot to carry the groceries up. So, I don’t really ride the stairlift but my grandchildren do and they love it. I've had it for a month and so far, I have not had any problems with it yet.
Hi Janet,
We hope that you're still enjoying your stairlift. It's good to hear that it's making some of your daily chores and activities a bit easier (as well as providing some entertainment for your grand kids!) We understand that it can be difficult waiting for your installation, but with the custom curved rails, there is a bit of lead time, as they have to be made from scratch for each unique staircase (this isn't the case with straight stairlifts). Now that you have it, we hope that you're satisfied and that your stairlift serves you well for years to come!

I have three floors in the house and Stannah Stairlifts is my second stairlift to another floor which has been there for so long. The salesperson came to measure the stairs and gave me a price that I was happy with. The stairlift was put up by the installers and they demonstrated it for me. They even had me test drive it. They were efficient and did everything they were supposed to do. They cleaned up after themselves as well.
The improvements of the new stairlift are excellent and works well. I like the footrest on the new stairlift where it goes up and down quietly. The older stairlift that I have goes down with a clunk. Anybody in the house could hear it and it may wake up my wife if I get up earlier than her. I also like the way the new stairlift behaves at the top of the stairs as compared to the old one where I have to manually turn the stairlift to get out or to get in at the top of the stairs and it’s becoming increasingly dangerous. I feel safer with Stannah since I can’t deal with the stairs.

Stannah Stairlifts was recommended to me by several people who had them. When their sales representative came, he looked at my home and figured what was the best thing for my home. He assured me that they were a reliable company and they have been around for many years. Their installer was a wonderful man. He came in and went right to work. He was very efficient and good with the situation all around. The stairlift goes up and down without any difficulties. So far, having it in my home helps a great deal since I just came out of the hospital.
However, there's a double outlet on the wall in the bedroom. One side of which controls a switch for the light on the wall. As it turned out, they used that outlet so that when we go into that room, we can't use the wall switch for the light for the bedroom. I went to the program here in Massachusetts where the state pays for it and talked to a lady who told me what type because I have to make out. They sent a paperwork for me, we put it in and we were okayed for it. She came by and we signed all the papers. The process was seamless.
The sales person that we dealt with was fantastic and every time I called them with a question, they called me right back. The installation was great and it only took them about two and a half hours to do it and they were very courteous with my wife. We enjoyed the experience. We’ve known about Stannah for a while and we never even considered other providers because of Stannah’s reputation. The same salesperson, Tony, came out more than once. Anytime we called and needed questions answered, whoever answered the phone was accommodating and got our questions answered. If not immediately, then they knew who to go to. The installers were also great and they were very polite. They were very clean and neat. They did a wonderful job instructing us on how to use everything.
I like that the stairlift is not only automated going up and down the stairs but it actually swivels. We have a swivel chair that’s automated by continuing to push on the lever and it’s very good. Stannah has been helpful because the stairlift we have is one that goes from our basement to the first floor. It’s a very steep set of stairs and this really helps us to not have to climb up and down those stairs. It’s made our life easier. Everything they do, they should continue because it was all done very well from beginning to end.

We were looking for stairlifts and the person we know said he had gotten a Stannah Stairlift and it worked okay. So we just went off with his recommendation. A guy came in from Stannah. He explained the stairlift process and extolled its virtues. He then measured the floor and gave me a quote. However, I wanted to get a sense of other possibilities. So I have asked another person, who gave me a wider range of quotes. I have two turns to come downstairs on the lift. So the Stannah stair guy said that the best thing for me was a stair that wraps around. I thought that was much more sensible than the guy who gave me a quote for a straight one, the one with one turn so I picked Stannah.
The installation team was straightforward and sensible. They came when they said they would and it took them less time to do everything than they said it might take. And though they were perfectly nice, we had some minor problems. One is that it's foolishly finished. It turns three-quarters of the way toward the wall. But not all the way. While there's enough space to get on and get off it, it would be more sensible if it went all the way around. Also, it doesn't lock instantly when my wife sits in it. You have to push it a little bit to make it lock perfectly. So far, the stairlift works exactly what we were told it would be. But since my wife needs help because she can't get from the stairs to the bedroom, or the stairs to the rest of the house, having Stannah Stairlifts means I don't have to haul her up a flight of stairs. I would recommend them.

I evaluated all of the stairlift providers based on commentary online and I researched each individually on features and found that there were only two that I was interested in. I went to ask each to come to the house and demonstrate the product and I also went to the Stannah office in Elmsford, New York to see the actual demonstration of the product. Stannah Stairlifts had uniformly good reports back from the people that were using it which was important to me. The inclusionary feature of the automatic foot stand as part of the price rather than as an extra was also important to me. Also, I wanted a smaller profile in the chair and the chair could be purchased with narrow width arms because the person that was using it was a small person.
The sales manager who came from the Elmsford office was quite good and thorough. The other company came and I was a little dismayed because the rep used some kind of ultra scan of the staircase which was impressive, whereas the sales manager just took measurements and eyeballed it. She explained all of the variations including the rental option. In addition, they were also very flexible in the negotiation of price. They waived a $75 charge and the extra charge for the narrow arms and they also quoted me a price. There was a little confusion about it both ways before going in and they held to that price. I said if it was a confusion, I would gladly pay. They were extremely nice about it.
The installer was excellent and extremely clean. He had thought that there was no need for the narrow arms because there was plenty of room on the staircase but that’s not why I wanted the narrow arms. He didn’t realize I wanted it because of the size of the person who's going to use it. So, he had to go back in and do the job over. It took him another 45 minutes to disassemble and put on the narrow arms which he did gracefully and without complaint. The installation was perfect.
The performance of the unit is excellent. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, it’s quiet, efficient and sturdy. I also like that they were able to get the color and it was not one color fits all. The person using it is very pleased with all the aspects of it. She likes the color, the way she fits into it and the way the base folds in. It’s very easy to use. I recommended it. All of what was promised in terms of the unit and its functionality has held exactly as was promised. They met all of the expectations and I was really pleased.

My wife really needed the stairlift. The lift gives you a chance to quietly think away what you’re going to do on the next platform you hit. In this busy world, between doing this and doing that, you’re always on the run, it gives me about a ten-second pause and they’re pretty refreshing. When we had the Stannah salesman out and he gave us the rundown of the whole thing, there was absolutely no pressure and a lot of choices. It was 100% our decision. There was no pressure to decide to get it from his perspective. I also had a good conversation on the phone with their reps on the other end. We had already talked to Acorn and they would have been good too and I’ve seen their product. My sister in Rhode Island who was older had one of those and it was good. But Stannah Stairlifts simply had a way shape to it that was better for our stairway and less obtrusive so we went with them.
The installer that came out was so authentically terrific. I called the company and I wanted to talk to the fellow in charge of all the installers for the stairlifts and I wanted to compliment him for having that young boy that came out. He knew exactly what to do and he did a perfect job. It was terrific from the beginning to the end. Everything he did was articulate and he was careful. There was no chaos in doing it. Every step he took made the next thing a lot simpler. We really felt that we lucked out when we got the installer.
The chair was great but the installer was commendable too. I’m a primary school principal and when I see behavior like that, I don’t let it go and wasted by not telling the company. I usually call up whoever is in charge of that person to let them know as well. Sometimes you get a good product but you have to get the service that goes along with it, that’s the other half of what a good product has to be. Overall, it was a great experience. Stannah gave us what we wanted and my wife is happy. She’s not struggling going up and down the stairs anymore. It was getting to the point where I worry about some danger because if she had tripped, she would really hurt herself going down the stairs. Stannah is a reputable and terrific company. If I needed to, I’d buy other products from them too.

I like that the chair is easy to get access to and the arms give it support. However, I think the swivel should be a different design and instead of sticking out the way it does, they could have it in a downward position. Also, she had said that Stannah had serviced it once a year the entire time that she had owned it and that’s really why we purchased this specific one. She also said wonderful things about Stannah in general.
She had Stannah come in and uninstall it then we went and picked it up from her. We came home and called Stannah to have them come back and reinstall. They were very friendly and their knowledge was great. They took some basic information from me and they were kind enough to ask me if I knew the address of where I got it from and they were able to pull up her account information and put that into the work order. I’m confident that if I have to call Stannah for any reason, that I would get the same service no matter who walked into my house.
We had another stairlift that's very old and my poor grandmother had to walk up and down the stairs for almost four weeks when her other one broke, and she’s not having to do that right now so I'm extremely happy with the Stannah stairlift. It is very nice that it’s a little bit more closed compared to our old one and I’m not really worried about things falling on the track and getting stuck in there. With the old one, there was grease everywhere too. That aside, if one of my kids is on the steps and they're in the way when my grandmother is trying to get down the steps, there’s a bumper on it which is really neat because it automatically stops the stairlift. That's one of my favorite things about it, as far as safety goes.
My concern is the actual speed of the stairlift but I don’t know if it’s the model that we have because it’s seven years old. It’s very slow and if my grandmother were home alone, it's not the best in an emergency situation. They should have an emergency switch where it can go faster or put on the lawnmower where you can put it in bunny or turtle speed. In the case of an emergency like if there was ever a fire in the house, I could not carry my grandmother down the stairs and I’m not sure that my husband would be able to either so we were going to inquire about that and find out if there’s a way to adjust the speed on it.

The sales rep of Stannah Stairlifts was excellent. He knew what he was doing, answered my questions and was quick. The installer was good and he also knew what he was doing. He did the installation quickly, answered my questions and moved on. The stairlift works and it gets me up and downstairs which is what I need. It runs from the first floor to the basement where all of the mechanical equipment is and I was not able to get down there. Now, I can get down there for the furnace and all the other stuff that’s down there so it makes a big difference. If I haven’t had the stairlift, I’d have to get out of the house. I had an excellent experience with Stannah Stairlifts.

I read about the recalls from the most advertised stair lift, and Stannah Stairlifts is the better. We purchased two of them. We’ve had the first one for three years and we just had the other one put in on October. The sales personnel were extremely pleasant, low-pressure and the nicest people. The installers, the maintenance and staff were also really nice and down-to-earth. I’m very comfortable with them.
The stair lift provides access to the upper-stairs for my husband who has Parkinson’s. It makes daily living here possible. And we got the good model. The add-ons were necessary features that make it easier for my husband to navigate. When this was installed, the maintenance man was here for six hours. He did a phenomenal job. The quality of the work, the quality of the finishes and just the look of the machine itself is high-end. We were extremely pleased. That’s why we chose to get an additional one for going into the basement. Friends of ours have seen it. They were extremely impressed with the mechanism, with the rail that goes up. The experience has been pleasant, quick and efficient.

I have a very bad balance problem and I bought a Stannah Stairlift as a precautionary measure to prevent me from falling down the stairs. I could go up and down the stairs fine, but very slowly and usually, I crawl up and down. With the stairlift, I can ride in comfort. I've had it for three weeks now and I like it very much. It's very nice and quiet and I like that when you go down and you're coming to a stop, it has a gentle stopping motion rather than just stopping. It also goes a little bit further. The guy who installed it was a very nice guy. He was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Also, Stannah was responsive to calls. I was very happy because it’s unusual to run across service like that nowadays. The only thing I would like is if they have a cover for the unit's light since it shines right up in the eye. I understand they put it on there so you can find the stair lift in the dark but they beam upwards and I can't really see anything else. It would be nice if you could just shut it off.

Stannah Stairlifts was outstanding in every way. When the family decided that we needed a stairlift, our research showed that there were a couple of firms that we would consider. And Stannah being one of them had a good reputation and they are located fairly close to us here in the Boston, Massachusetts area. I decided to call them to get some information, and it was very productive and I was very satisfied with the person who answered the phone and talked to me about setting up an appointment to have someone come out and look at our situation and also inviting me and my wife to come to their showroom and to look at possibilities. I felt very encouraged.
We weren’t able to go to the showroom because of some other appointments that we had but the rep from Stannah, Bob, came out to look at our situation within a couple of days. And he went over the options very carefully, so we have a good idea of choosing among alternatives. We liked him and everything we saw. Our initial dealings with the company were all extremely positive.
Nick, the installer, was here around midday until early evening because it was a big project. The stairway doesn't have a huge amount of steps but he had to install a retractable bar given the space that we're talking about. He was professional, friendly and he explained everything really well. After he finished, I called Stannah here in Massachusetts to let them know how happy we were with everything they did because too often in our economy, people are fond of making complaints but they don't do as much on the positive side to let people know they did a good job.
My wife uses it every day and it's excellent. It's what we were hoping for and it's going very well. Also, the information from a human being from Stannah and the printed literature that was given to us are very thorough, such that if there are any questions, we know exactly who to call and go top. We had an excellent experience, and I highly recommend Stannah.

My wife and I are in our 90s and we needed a stairlift. My daughter researched stairlifts and found Stannah to be the top-quality one. Their sales rep gave us a demonstration at their factory and he was very informative and excellent. Their installation team was young, very knowledgeable and cooperative. The stairlift has worked very well and it was excellently installed. I had felt we dealt with professional people. The stairlift’s measurements were accurate and the base was evidently made in London. Our safety was primarily the issue and the stairlift made going up and down the stairs to the bedroom and any time going to the second floor a lot safer for us. My wife and I both can use it independently. She has Parkinson’s and a pacemaker in her heart, and it’s made me a lot more comfortable with having my wife use it plus it’s made our children more relaxed too. We’ve been satisfied and we're perfectly happy with it.

I heard that Stannah Stairlifts were good so I chose them. Their sales rep answered all my questions and he made suggestions. He also got me the best care for my needs. The installer was also excellent. He was on time, polite, neat and he taught me how to use the stairlift. It has made my life easier and my favorite feature is jetting up the stairs. I was very happy with all the services I received from them, right from the first phone call. I have found them very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful.

Stannah Stairlifts was a necessity for mobility and we’re very satisfied with our decision to go with them. The sales rep has gone above and beyond and our interaction couldn't be better. We've had the stairlift for a couple of weeks now and I like the fact that it works. Aesthetically, it's nice. It functions well and it's comfortable. I'm happy with everything and I would continue propagating the word of mouth about Stannah Stairlifts. The experience was very good.

My father has a little trouble getting around. We thought getting a stairlift would make it easier for him to go up and down the stairs when he moves back home from assisted living. We went on the internet and checked the reviews, and we came up with Stannah. The salesperson came to the house where the product was installed. He was very good and went over the whole program, the options we had, and all the details. He made clear how everything works and explained the rental versus the purchase versus refurbished. The installer was a nice guy, very polite and cleaned up everything when he left. He took all the boxes and wrappings. He went over the whole process with us to make sure my father understood how it all worked. He also left the manual for us for any information. We're really happy with them.

We have both indoor and outdoor lifts for about 2 years and were satisfied until yesterday when the outdoor chairlift did not work. I telephoned Stannah requesting an urgent repair as my handicapped wife has no other way of leaving the house. I was told a serviceman would get back to me early today, At noon I called again and was told to call back if no one contacted me with 2 hours. At 2:30 I called again and was told the message would again be passed on. It is now 6:30 PM and no one has called.
