I chose Stannah because they are family-owned and the salesman who came to the house was really nice compared to some of the other guys. He’s very prompt and informative and cut right to the chase. He told me what I wanted to hear and then he executed it. The installer was an awesome guy too. He did a perfect job. The only thing that was left was the chair. We had a little trouble with it, though, and we called for service. They came that day and took care of it and it's been perfect ever since. That was another good thing. The whole product is an excellent thing. It's working out real well. If I knew anybody that needed a chairlift, I would definitely recommend and say, "You should use no other company."

I wanted to purchase the Stannah stairlift for my aunt and my uncle. They are 90 years old and they don’t have any children, so I’m the closest person to them. They also live on the second floor of the house. I’m a handyman and I work in a lot of people’s houses. Everyone I know that has a Stannah stairlift is very happy with it. I usually go with what I know and what works.
I was with my uncle when the gentleman, their sales rep, came. He was very pleasant and very efficient. He did his job, answered all the questions and left us all the brochures. The gentleman that came to install the stairlift was very professional. He called 10 minutes before he got there and then he showed up just on time. He showed both my aunt and uncle how to use the stairlift and had them both try it till they were semi-comfortable with the stairlift since it’s going to take them a little while to get used to it. He knew what he was doing and he did a very nice and clean job.
Even if the Stannah cost a little more money, it’s a good product because one of my customers has had it since 2002. They use the Stannah stairlift all the time and they’ve never had a problem with it. My aunt only got to use the stairlift once to go to the emergency room. She’s been between Salem Hospital and a rehab ever since. Hopefully, she’ll be home next week and it’s definitely going to give her the freedom to be able to get out of the house more, instead of having to worry about going up and down the stairs. I have recommended Stannah Stairlifts to other people. It was a very pleasant and great experience for me, from the first phone call to the final installation.

I had a total knee replacement and I just got out of the rehab center. I had Acorn come first but they told me my entrance was too small for their equipment. I then saw Stannah Stairlifts' truck outside the house of my neighbor whose husband fell ill. I gave Jane, the wife, a call and she told me that they love their Stannah stairlift. She told me what to do and who to talk to. She also told me that she would talk to the manager who measured theirs. Stannah's reps were professional, caring and understanding. I got a mirror image of Jane's which made the manager's job much easier. The manager also knew exactly what we were talking about. Stannah's installation team was marvelous. They were in and out fast and I was very thrilled with it.
But the stairlift is that it's a little slow. I understand that you don't want to go too fast, but when somebody is at the door, a lot of times they won't wait and I don't have any way to tell them to wait unless they call me before. UPS, a lot of times, don't knock. This morning, my friend's father tried it out because he's the one that helped us pay for it. When he got off, he left it and didn't get it off the last step. So when somebody was knocking on the door, I can't figure the stairlift out unless I had to reboot it and figure out how to get it up the last step because it was not going right. I had to yell out the window to the guy to wait and that I was having problems with my stairlift. Other than that, I absolutely love it and I really feel grateful for it. Without it, I would never have been able to come home yet because I can only take three steps and that was very painful. I'm elated with my Stannah stairlift.

I happen to live in a house that has three levels and my sister has dementia. When people have dementia, they lose various understandings of how to do simple things like walking, brushing their teeth and for my sister, climbing steps. And you can't reach from one level to the other without going down the set of steps. So I did a process of elimination of stair lift providers because I don’t want to purchase one outright. I wanted to rent it and Stannah Stairlifts offers it so that was an asset for me.
Their salesman was very cordial and informative about his work and his company. He’s a very pleasant man that you would like to invite in your home. The installation team was also very professional and they did the job as quickly as they could. They're very informative in explaining the stair lift’s features and everything that I needed to know. And so far, it’s been good. It’s been helpful to my sister who’s using it. I just put her in it and she rides. It’s not so difficult to use the stairs anymore. I would recommend Stannah Stairlifts.

I was doing some research online and Edwin, the guy from Stannah who came by, was very good. He showed me lots of options and I was glad that there were options for pricing because there were really expensive ones. Luckily, there was something affordable for us. Getting their stairlift seemed reasonably affordable and a good plan that I ended up buying their product. It's as good as it can be. It's complicated that my house is a little bit older and the hallways are kind of narrow. Also, sometimes the people using it are not always 100% anymore like my mother. But it's enabled her to stay out of a nursing home so it's good.

The sales visit was timely and very positive. The salesman was knowledgeable, helpful, and gave practical recommendation as opposed to just trying to push a money-maker. I needed to do a follow-up phone call, and he responded immediately considering he was on vacation. After he came right to the house and worked with us, I wanted to see the stairlift in person to try it with my dad, so we went to their showroom. The woman there was fantastic. One guy came for the installation and he did a very nice job. He was neat and polite. He explained and demonstrated the stairlift real well.
I like the automatic swivel, the foot rest, and the remote control. But I have a recommendation on their equipment. I would like to see it swivel a full 90 degrees. They told me it doesn’t do that because they don’t want somebody’s arm to get pinched. It only goes about 45 degrees which leads my dad trying to squat and sit on a chair that’s in an awkward position. If he were to lose his balance, he is going to fall into the chair and the handrail and the foot rail. If it came and did a full 90 degrees, I wouldn’t have to worry as much about it. As of now, he has to back up and get his feet on the edge of the wood on the top of the step. I could’ve called in and asked them to extend the rail but that would come into the way in the middle of the pathway at the top of the stairs. If the chair swiveled more, it would be a lot easier and less awkward. He wouldn’t have to put his feet out of the edge of the stairs.
Other than this, every time I’ve had anything to do with Stannah, they’ve been very professional. We’ve had them before from my father’s house when my mother was unstable. That was more than 25 years ago. My dad’s going to sell his house and the fact that they will come now to take the stairlift out for nothing out of his house and dispose all the equipment is fantastic. And the fact that they were good with installing and maintaining it made me so very comfortable to use them on this one.

I read about stairlift providers and Stannah Stairlifts seemed to be the best. The sales visit was very positive and the rep's explanation was very clear. Everything he said was represented in the product. The cost was just right and I didn't feel pestered. There were two stairlifts installed because we have a landing. The installation was fine and the stairlifts look great. The tech was very professional and worked out how to get the stairlifts plugged in, making them practically invisible. They looked beautiful and they were fun to ride.
But my husband felt unsafe with them. He was wobbly on his feet getting on and turning, and there was always somebody with him getting off, walking a couple of steps, and getting on. We don’t have a grand, Newport Mansions staircase and it was very tight going up the stairs and transitioning from one stairlift to the other one. Whoever was with my husband had to maneuver to get around the stairlift to get up the stairs and then wait for him to come up. I tried quite a few times and it was very awkward. My husband didn’t like the stairlifts and he's not doing them anymore, so we stopped using them. We rented a fold-up bed for the living room so my husband is on one floor now and he doesn’t have to go up and down.
We could have tried the stairlifts out before we had them installed. If you're really deft, flexible and agile, the stairlift is a fun but expensive toy. Otherwise, you’d feel vulnerable if you were to step over. It's a beautiful piece of equipment and it works beautifully, but the human factor has been a problem for us. I’d certainly recommend it, though, to people who are better on their feet.

My wife went on the internet and found that Stannah had a very high reputation. They also have other industries that are very popular and we liked the idea and we went with them. Their sales person was very professional. A very nice man came by himself and he made the installation in about three hours. The stairlift has met my expectations very well. It's very quiet and I like the smoothness of the ride. Also, I'm a big person and I rely on its quality as far as breaking down.

We bought a used Stannah Stairlifts system and they installed it for us at our house. There was a gentleman who came out, measured everything, and talked about what the process would be. He was informative and friendly. The installation team was great. The work was done very well and there was a lot of attention to detail. And they did not leave any kind of mess. Everything has worked great ever since. It's a very quality equipment and all the people who we dealt with were easy to deal with. They did a great job and it was a good experience.

I have a couple of concerns about the outside stairlift that I bought from Stannah Stairlifts. I got it because it didn't jut out at the end of the staircase as much as the other one, which came out further after it came down the stairs. I also like the freedom that it gives me to go up and down the stairs. But after the installer put it in, he told me that it needs some sort of a piece and that people buy a piece of gutter and have it cut to fit over something that's exposed to the snow. I asked the installer why didn't he have that for me and the only answer I got was that it was made in England, which I didn't care about. I spent $5400 to have the stairlift done and I was really annoyed with that. I'm disabled and I can't be running around finding people to cut a piece of gutter. They never got me one so my husband did instead. I don't know who's going to cut it, but we'll figure it out.

The salesperson who came here, as well as the installation team, was very helpful. They met my every need. The stairlift made it possible for my husband to get in and out of my house. It's easy to use. I've recommended them to other people who have used them and they've been happy also.

Stannah Stairlifts fulfilled everything that they committed. There was no pressure put on me at any time to do anything other than to give them the opportunity to provide the unit that I selected and to make sure that it was installed according to schedule. They communicated to me clearly what would be involved, what my responsibilities would be, and what they would do to make sure that I was in compliance with the New York City code.
The installation team came in a timely way and they indicated to me the approximate time it would take to accomplish it. They met that time frame and upon completion they carefully explained to me and my ground supervisor how to operate the system and made sure that we got a complete understanding of everything we needed to know so we could operate it safely. Plus I'm satisfied with the unit itself.

We’ve had a Stannah stairlift for several years and we got another one which is different because of the configuration of the stairs. I’m very satisfied with it and with the service. When we bought our first one, the representative was a very hands-on guy and he knew his stuff. The stairlift seemed like the best one at that time and probably the most expensive but it’s the best one made. For the sales visit on the second one, the sales rep was very professional and knowledgeable. Also, their installation team was super, knows their business and right to the minute. The stairlift is very efficient and does what I want. I love it and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

We needed a stairlift and Stannah was the provider that could put it in in a timely fashion. The person who came to our home to discuss our options was very pleasant and very informative. The installer was very pleasant, too. He explained everything, cleaned up, and had me ride the stairlift up the stairs. We also put my mother on it and she rode up and down. He went through all the safety devices and it was good. Having the stairlift is fabulous because my mother was having difficulty getting up the stairs and now it's a pleasant experience. She just sits on it, I bring her up and I have her walker at the top and she gets to go into her bedroom without a lot of exertion.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I went to bring the chair lift back down and it wouldn't. So I first looked in the booklet and then did the things that they told me to. Nothing worked. Then I called Stannah and talked to someone. She had me go through all kinds of things, but nothing seemed to work. I called about 3:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. She said she'd have a service person out here first thing in the morning. I told her that's not really going to work for me because my mother was in the bedroom and I needed to get her to my house. And my understanding was that someone would come immediately to fix this in an hour or two. She told me she'll call me back.
Then a service person called me back and had me do all kinds of things. Nothing was working. He told me he was in Rhode Island but he could be here in an hour or he could come in the morning. An hour was fine and so he came and he fixed the problem. There was some switch that he said never ever went. It was some safety thing and he replaced it. He was very pleasant, very nice, and very accommodating.
One reason we went with Stannah was our understanding that the chair would be serviced in a timely fashion. But I felt that the initial person I spoke with didn't really understand that when one needs a stairlift, it's a matter of life and death. There's a reason and one can't be without it. That's like being without water. I can understand if it was a power outage and we had terrible blizzard. Had I not pushed to get somebody out here I'm afraid I would have had the service person coming out in the morning. But other than that, I'm more than happy with Stannah.

My wife got a broken hip so she needed a stair lift to get up the stairs. A friend recommended Stannah Stairlifts and then I talked to a woman on the phone and she set up an appointment with this guy. He came out and explained everything and I signed up. They looked at the situation and made a couple of suggestions. They also helped me choose the right stair lift. I thought it was practical and went ahead and did it. The guy who did the installation was very helpful. He explained everything that he was doing and why he was doing it. It can pick up my wife and bring her from one level to the other. I'm happy with the product. It works fine and I got what I paid for.

We were looking at three companies and Stannah came through with the highest rating. The sales team was very accommodating and my interactions with them were excellent. The installers did a great job too. I like the design of the stairlift and that was one of the concerns because we have a very beautiful house and I wanted it to fit in. It seems like it has a very good quality as well and I’m very pleased.

I called another stairlift company but they didn’t seem too enthused to me at that time. Then I saw Stannah’s ad and I called them. A man from sales then came over and he was very informative. He explained everything and he was very good. The guy who installed was also excellent and showed me how to use it. Since having the stairlift, I don’t have to walk up and down the stairs, and I’m saving my knees now. I was supposed to have had a knee replacement and they can’t do it. So it used to take me a little bit longer to go up the stairs. Plus I have COPD, and when I get up the top of the stairs I’m puffing like an old steam engine. Not now, though. Everything is perfect.

When the Stannah salesman came to the house, he looked professional and clean. He arrived on time, which was really important because the two people that we had dealt with before arrived on the same day. But I had to call one and they asked me what window of time they gave me. I told them they didn't. I am a chaplain and they didn't give me a window. And then, the second man who came was talking about used and new. We were uncomfortable because I thought he was pushing used and I wanted something that was mine and brand-new.
In contrast, the Stannah man was pleasant and he told us how it would be done right up on the stairs, whereas we didn’t hear that from the other two. It wouldn't hang from the wall and it could be done in three to four hours. He was specific, right down to what color of seat we would want. He seemed to be honest and trustworthy. We chose Stannah knowing it was at least $1,000 more and that was okay. The installer arrived and he had his own coffee in his hand. He asked if he could have it in the house and I told him I'd have fixed him some coffee. He had his coffee, and when it came down to leave, he made sure he took it and he left the place immaculate. When he needed to use a bathroom, he asked and I couldn’t believe it. He put in the stairlift in three hours and I had a fantastic experience.
Our stairlift adds to our life nicely and is a big difference. It was really timely and we can’t believe how much or how often we use it. There were times I would have liked to have been downstairs and done something and I wasn’t doing it because I’d have to climb back up. It’s a little elevator for our belongings too. The laundry, food, and groceries go on it. However, the grandchildren do not and we now hide the keys.
Also, I like that at the top of the stairs, it turns towards a little claw so that I couldn't fall down the stairs and I feel safe getting off. My husband likes that it all folds up so that people can walk up and down the stairs without feeling scrunched. It’s neat-looking and it’s better than we anticipated, which is a nice way to feel about something you bought. I thought it would be clumsier but it’s not and it's smooth. We’re both very pleased.
Hi Mrs. Flagg,
We pride ourselves on employing professional, courteous and well informed installers and sales people. We're glad that our team made you feel comfortable, provided you with a clear understanding of the product and left you feeling confident after you purchased. We hope that you and your husband continue to enjoy your stairlift, just make sure you hide the keys away from those grandkids :)

Stannah was closer in Massachusetts so we chose them over other stair lift providers. The salesperson Doug was very nice and he came back several times. One thing that he did for me that has proven to be most helpful was he gave me a pamphlet about the Mass. Commission of Disabilities. It’s a place run by the state that allows people to get loans or grants to make their home accessible, including the stairlifts. It was wonderful. He even gave me a couple of more pamphlets ‘cause my therapist didn’t even know about this.
I just gave another one out and I’m going to ask the man to bring me extra so I can continue to give them out ‘cause it would put within reach for a lot of people the ability to have something like Stannah Stairlifts or to make their bathroom or kitchen more accessible too. A publicist of the state agency's even coming on Friday. Because a lot of people didn’t know about this organization so they’re going to come and see if they can get more publicity about it. So, that is a lifesaver from the Stannah salesman who gave me the idea of it.
I just had the stairlift installed in July. The installation team was terrific. They were very knowledgeable and sweet. They worked fast too. I’m still trying to make all the adaptations like having threshold adapters put in and doing work downstairs in the front hallway. That's one of the reasons that the therapist is going to come with a series of appointments, to help me at the bottom of the stairs to see if I can get out of the house. But so far, it's very smooth and all the features seem to be working well.

Stannah is a good quality product in my research on different stairlift providers. I had read some very good reviews and also liked that their office was in Franklin, Massachusetts which is in close proximity to Webster, Mass. They had a showroom and I could go there if I needed to talk to someone if there were issues. The sales visit was excellent. The gentleman was so informative, helpful and very compassionate. He used to be an installer so he knew everything about the mechanics of the chairlift. Also, he had been to the manufacturing site, the research and development in the UK, and had seen how they cast it out and he explained all that to me.
We have a staircase then there’s a landing and one more stair, and my mom can do the stair. But if she can't do it, we also talked about the curved stairlift and rail. Then he also suggested if we could get a carpenter to make the landing flat with the last stair. He ordered the rail slightly longer so we would be able to do it and the chair would get to the top landing. One gentleman came to install and he was very polite and knowledgeable in what he was doing. He had installed in two and a half hours or less then showed me how to it. My mom like that she can get up the stairs. Also, we saw a commercial of Acorn and noticed that the person had to lift up the footrest with their foot to get it up but with Stannah, it’ll automatically go up or come down if a button was pressed.
We talked about it as being one of the better features of the Stannah plus it is very, very sturdy. It’s been installed for almost two months now and so far, we've had no issues. She won’t be able to make it up the stairs to get to her bedroom if we didn’t have it. It was a great experience and a better quality of life for her to be able to sleep in her own bed and bedroom and be comfortable.

Stannah was the best as far as being heavy-duty. We’re heavy, so we needed a good one. And I had Acorn here, and I wasn’t happy with them. They put the stairlift up and I made them take it right back down. They had the tracking in the middle of the stairs, so people couldn’t use the stairs to go down. They started at one end and ended up at the top going right into the middle of the steps. But Stannah did it really well, and I’m very pleased with it.
Edward, Stannah's salesman, was very nice and explained everything to me. When Acorn was here, they told us the reason that they couldn’t put the tracking even was that the doorjamb on the top of the steps had to come down. And they wanted me to do construction. And when Edward was here, he said, “There’s no reason for you to alter anything. Our stairlift is going to fit perfectly here. You don’t have to do anything to take anything down.” And when the person came here to put the stairlift then, I was very pleased with him.
My sister was afraid when Acorn was here. She panicked and made them take the stairlift down. And the person from Stannah said, “Look, I’m not going to leave here until you feel absolutely safe, and nothing’s going to happen. I’m going to prove to you.” And he sat and bounce on it. He said, “You’re not going to fall. Don’t worry about it.” He was very good with her because she was afraid the first time. She’s very confident now. And she’s got a quality of life.
I just had a hip revision, and I hurt it on the stairs coming home from work. So the stairs made me a little nervous, and I knew I had to get stairlift because I’m still recovering. I’m not walking. So when I go to the doctors, I’m able to get on to the stairlift, go down to the basement, and get right out to the garage into my car. I was happy about that, and I’m happy now when I go back to work knowing after working eight hours, I don’t have to climb those stairs and worry about my hip. So it’s good for both me and my sister. Overall, the people at Stannah were very courteous with me. And I called a couple of times. I had to ask questions about taking the doorjamb down. And they got in touch with Edward, and he got in touch with me, and he said, “No, please don’t touch nothing. I’m going to show you that the stairlift is going to be perfect.” And it was.

Right now, Stannah hasn’t been the best. We’ve had nothing but trouble with this chair lift since we bought it and it’s the same problem every time. It brings my friend upstairs for a little while and every time he goes down, it stops either at the curve or all the way down. He’s had to use the red switch all the time. This chair is choosy. When I call for service, Jennifer answers the phone most of the time and she says she’ll send somebody as soon as possible. Everybody I talk to is very pleasant and very patient with me. They’re very dedicated and somebody comes over almost instantaneously. Justin came, and then Jacob and then Joe came two or three times. He changed the circuit board and said I won’t have any more problems.
Joe said he wouldn’t come back because it’s fixed, but that same night, it stopped working again. Joe came back and we joked around, but it’s not funny. The technicians are so sure and confident they fixed it right and we shake hands but the repair only lasts us a day or so. The problem starts all over when my friend leaves at night. Nobody seems to know how to fix it. Kevin, the last technician who was here, came over on Friday and spent two or three hours here. The chair lift worked for two days and we gave him a standing ovation. Then Monday came and the problem started again. We’ve been doing what Joe told us to do and Kevin also told us to do that, but it’s not working and we have to use the red control.
I've been calling almost every other day. I've been more than patient and they are trying very hard to fix the problem, but they’re not succeeding. We keep telling them we want a new chair but they won’t hear about it. They keep sending technicians and I gotta stay home every time they come over. If Stannah doesn't do anything, they’ll have to come and get this chair ‘cause I’m not gonna ride a chair like this. I was hoping to not to have to do that but nobody wants to listen to me and give me a new chair. I am so frustrated over this and I cry all the time.
I paid $13,000 for this chair and it’s still not working properly. There’s got to be a little glitch in there and once they find it, it’s gonna be fine. It’s aggravating and frustrating that I've had the machine since June and it’s been down since June. All I want is to have this chair fixed and I hope they can because I've grown attached and fell in love with it. I can hardly walk and the chair is a godsend to me, but it’s been a curse the way it’s operating now. Stannah has been 150% excellent as far as coming over to see if they can solve my problem but everybody that comes over says it’s solved and it’s not.

Our experience with Stannah Stairlifts has been excellent. Their local distributor is about three miles from me and their salesperson was very good. He wasn't pushy. He knew what I wanted and I got taken care of quickly. The installation process went smoothly. The person who installed it was very talented and polite. He took care to explain the operation of the stairlift to my wife who is the primary user. There are 16 steps to go up to our home’s second floor and now, we don't have to climb the stairs. It made it easier for my wife to get up to her bedroom upstairs several times a day. Given that we're in our mid-80’s, Stannah Stairlifts helped us and changed our lives considerably.

Stannah responded to my email and the other provider called me back two weeks later. So we called Stannah and they sent someone right out. The salesman was very nice and wasn't pushy. He explained that I pay a certain flat fee for the first six months and then I could pay it per month, give it back or buy it. He showed us basic kinds of stairlifts, nothing too fancy, but nice. I wouldn’t be let me out of the hospital if I couldn’t climb more than two stairs and I have 21 stairs to get into my house. I had shoulder surgery and it was a little more difficult because I'd have to reach across and it was the other side so I got a stairlift.
A rep from Stannah did all the measurements and within a week, they had someone install it. He had some questions since I live in an older house and the installer said that there was something with the stair and he needed to put in a support and it might cost more money to install it. I didn’t want more money and we had a contract. He called his boss and his boss said to do whatever was needed to install it. The guy put in the extra but we didn’t pay for it. The stairlift works beautifully. I like that I don’t have to walk up all those stairs and it's very easy to use. I can walk right on it and sit down. I can swivel so I can get on it without stepping out over the stairs. I feel like an ad on TV, slowly going down the stairs.
Stannah got it here in time and it's so much easier for me. I had just gotten out of the hospital and I had a need to get out of the house and go back to see the doctor. I don’t hesitate to schedule things or see who can go with me. I can go by myself because I know I can get in and out of my house by myself. Plus, I get out more. My nephew lives downstairs with his wife and his daughter. I get down there to bug them more.
Hi Andrea,
Thank you for choosing us. It's important to us that our customers feel a sense of independence and freedom after purchasing one of our lifts. We're glad to hear that your stairlift has helped you to feel comfortable making and keeping appointments. It's also good to hear that our installation team was able to schedule something quickly, so that you could come home and get back to the things you enjoy, like bugging your nephew :)

Stannah Stairlift was recommended by my friend. The sales visit was a very positive experience. The rep was very helpful and professional. He explained what we wanted to know. The installer also knew what he was doing and he did it quickly. It was also a very good experience. My mother-in-law is the one using it and she likes that it's easily used. She's able to go up and down if she wants to and not just when somebody is around. Plus, we now have ease of mind that she's safe because we're not there with her. It was an awesome process overall.

The first stairlift we had with Stannah was over 10 years ago and we just purchased a new one. The salesperson, Barbara, was absolutely phenomenal - very good and very knowledgeable. We were concerned about the amount space because there’s a foyer that the stairlift comes into. We wanted to keep it open and the extension made that possible. So, that’s one of the reasons why we went with Stannah. We like the extension piece because of having the ability of putting a wheelchair into that room which happens to be a dining room. I'm extremely satisfied and I would definitely recommend Stannah Stairlifts.

The Stannah Stairlifts salesperson did a very nice presentation and he explained everything well including the functions then gave me the options whether I wanted a new or a used one. The young man was here for a couple of hours. He was in the basement and I was on the first floor. He was also knowledgeable and told me that if I had a problem over the weekend to feel free to call because he was on-call for that weekend. But the only question I had is if the light supposed to be on all the time in the armrest, like a little nightlight. I called them, but nobody returned my call. Other than that, I’ve only had it in for 10 days and use it in intervals, and I'm very satisfied. It serves its purpose and I’d recommend it.
Hello Mrs. Stewart,
We're sorry about the delayed response to your inquiry. Hopefully you've been in touch with someone, but in case you haven't, the light on the armrest is supposed to stay on. When the stairlift is turned off, the light blinks. Glad to hear that you had a good experience with our sales and installation teams and hope that you're still enjoying your stairlift!

I had my knees done 23 years ago and they couldn’t do them over again. I was going to call Acorn. They put a chair in the church to go up to the loft and it looked very good. I also have a girlfriend that had a chair and she had it done just the same but my son told me that somebody else told him that Acorn wasn't good. There’s this guy we knew and his sister got Stannah Stairlifts and so I used them.
The Stannah sales rep was very nice and showed a picture of the straight stairlift that comes up and down. Seeing that my son had told me that they were very good and that the guy said that it’s only straight and it's not a problem, I put my confidence in him. The installation team removed the old one which had been there 23 years and they had to put the WD-40 in it. They cleaned up after themselves and took everything with them. Then they had me sit on the chair of the new stairlift to go up and come down.
However, the rail is too long and it’s about seven inches away from the wall. At the top, the rail’s stuck out in front of the frame. If the door was to go in through, the door would hit the rail. Then the downstairs it's too close to where my grandson is. The rail is so close that when people come by, they’ll have to be very careful not to step on the rail. The downstairs was also close to the wall of my bathroom that if I try to go by, I gotta either go sideways or bring the chair up a little bit. My washer, dryer, and sink are on that side. Then, it also has cones underneath to hold every two steps when there were none in the picture the rep had shown to me
I called and the guy came back. He explained to me that the thing I have my feet on has to be almost to the floor to get off at the top and bottom. He said that’s the way it’s gotta be and he could’ve put something different as I didn’t like it. But I’ll have to take it. It’s installed and there’s not too much that I can do with it. I use the lift when I’d go downstairs to do my wash and things.
Hi Gloria,
It sounds like there was a bit of confusion during your sales appointment. All of our rails are secured to the stair treads by small legs that attach to every second or third step. Almost all of our pictures show this and it's a standard design throughout the stairlift industry. As for the issues you're having with space, there are some code restrictions that we have to observe, but it is possible that a retractable rail could clear some room for you at the bottom. If you'd like we can have the salesperson get in touch to discuss your options. We want you to be happy with your stairlift and will do all that we can to make sure that you're satisfied.
Sincerely,

We had a stairlift before that we didn’t like and we had to take it out. It had an older, clunkier design and it didn’t leave us much room to walk by. It was slower, louder and looked more like a machine rather than an accessory. I looked at the Stannah Stairlifts and it was a fine piece of equipment. It’s clean cut and well-designed. So I went with a name brand that I recognized and a company that was very well known and stable. During the sales visit, their employees explained everything and were very thorough. There weren’t any questions afterwards so we made up our minds and went ahead with the situation right then and there. The installation took three days. The stairlift is very compact and quiet. We always use it to carry the groceries up. My wife uses it but we’re at that point where it will become increasingly important to us over the next couple of years. It’s a very nice product and we’re very happy with it.
Hi Mr. Monroe,
We're glad that your Stannah Stairlift has been a marked improvement from the older lift you had. Also, my mother's happy with the design. The footprint is discrete. It doesn't block the stairs and it works well. It allows people who can't go up the stairs to negotiate the stairs too. I also like that the stairlift goes up in two stages, having remotes at the bottom, middle and top so that if I’m in another place and the chair’s down the bottom, I can call it.
The sales rep was also very informative, low-key and didn’t try to pressure me, as well. My only problem with it was, it took several weeks from the time I ordered till the time it was installed. But the installation guys were very fine people. Also, when I had a problem with the battery, Stannah was there within hours to fix it. Overall, it was very satisfactory.

I'm in a wheelchair for three months so the stairlift enables me to get in and out the house and do what I want to do. It's very smooth and very secure. It was a very good choice on our part. Stannah Stairlifts’ customer service ratings were very good. It was just a very calm, smooth transition from the sales person to the installation. I didn’t feel pressured or rushed, they gave me a lot of information about the stairlift and answered all my questions. They arrived on time and were very thorough. They were perfectionists. Cosmetically, the stairlift looked amazing. They took care in trying to hide the wires and make them blend in with the house, which was great. They were also clean, and even asked if they should take their shoes off, which was very nice.
I love the remote controls. However, I have a real problem with my hands, so it would be nice to have a voice activation feature for people who have minimal use of their hands. I also like the fact that I don’t have to have the stairlift at the bottom of the stairs. I can keep it midway if I have to, to allow for the door to open at the bottom of the stairs, and doesn’t bang into the chair. I also love that you can fold it up and keep it as close to the wall as you can. Considering it's such a big apparatus, they have streamlined it in such a way that allows the rest of the people in the house not to have it in their way, which was a concern of mine. We've been able to allow for the rest of the people in the house to use the staircase appropriately, which is great. And it's very nice to look at considering what it is and what it does and how big it is. It's very pleasing to the eye. Having the stairlift makes me want to go out more. It's not such a chore to come home and go out.

We have two Stannah Stairlifts, one coming from the main floor that goes down to a landing and one that goes down into the basement or toward the finished first floor. We chose Stannah because we could rent from them. My husband is using the stairlift right now and if he continues to use it, we’ll go the whole year and purchase it. But at this point, we don’t know what will happen and that’s why we like that we are able to rent. Stannah will come and pick it up when we’re done with it.
We had to cancel at first because things happened with my husband. We also had to put an electrical outlet for one of the stairlifts before they came and installed and it was hard to coordinate but they were very accommodating. Nobody tried to talk us out of it. They’d send the check back and they told us to call when we’re ready. When we called back, they gave the schedule. It was very nice because we were not being pressured. They understood that things happen and we rescheduled a week later. The salesman was very nice and competent and the man that installed it couldn’t have been nicer. He was neat. Everything was done beautifully and very well. It’s quite an operation, easy and done very quickly.
We have a three-story house and on the first floor is our main television. We have a television upstairs but we decided that this would be more sensible for him to be on the main floor. The stairlift has made it possible for my husband to get down to the first floor and also, to get out of the house because he could take the second stairlift down to the main floor and out to the garage. However, he can’t operate it himself and the control on the end of the handle is exactly where he wants to hold on. So I always have to move his hand off it because we were operating it with the remote.
The stairs are narrow and we would like it if the chair lift could move a little bit more to the side and turn to make it easier for my husband to get out. He can get out of it but it goes down and it doesn’t turn to the right. Another thing is, when the stairlift is off, the light blinks. It doesn’t bother me but it is very bright. I would change that but it’s very minor. Other than that it has been an excellent experience. I would recommend them.

The installer was terrific. I liked him. I had to leave to take my husband to the doctor and my niece stayed and he explained everything to her. She explained it to me while the installer was here, and I was able to operate it from her instructions that she got from him. He approved of what she was saying. When I made the decision, it was then from the time we saw somebody at the house which was quite quick, to when it was actually installed was a week. The installer was very good, thorough, and he took his time. He told me everything I needed to know and I felt he really knew what he was doing and that things were going to be okay. Stannah Stairlifts sounded like it was perhaps a good solution though an expensive one. We got several estimates and for some reason, we liked their salesman. He was helpful, quick and got to the point. He described everything about it. But then we were disappointed. I am responsible for other people’s care and what that salesman sold me wasn’t adequate for our disabled person. When we received the stairlift and got to the top of it, the disabled person was facing a wall and if she got off the machine, she would’ve fallen down the stairs.
So, we had to get them come out again. It took time and then they had to put something automatic to be able to turn the machine around so that it would face the floor. So that when she’d get off of it, instead of facing the staircase, she would be facing the floor where she could put her feet down and get off. However, she wasn’t able to spin the chair around. It was a little more complicated than we thought it should be. She had to pull this lever to do some things. That salesperson should have gone into detail and should have told us that it’ll stop and she’ll have to push it this way and spin it but if we get the extra thing, it will just automatically turn. Overall, we’re not happy. I wouldn’t buy it again. I spent $10,000 for the stupid thing with a lot of aggravation and I'm stuck with it.
Hi Maureen,
We're sorry that there was a bit of confusion in regards to the design of your stairlift. A swivel seat, manually operated by levers, at the top of the stairs is a standard design, not just for our company, but across the industry. For those unable to operate the swivel levers, we offer a powered swivel option that automatically turns the chair to face the top landing by simply holding the hand control. It sounds like that option should satisfy the needs of the person that you're taking care of. As this option requires additional parts, it does come with some added cost. If you'd like, we can send your sales person back to your house to explain your options further. We want you to be happy with your purchase and pleased with our company, and will do all that we can to satisfy your concerns.
Sincerely,

Someone in my family did some research on stairlifts and said that Stannah was the company to go with. The sales visit was excellent. The installation team was a nice couple of guys and they were obviously enjoying their work. They were very professional and had a wonderful rapport. It was a very positive experience. Everything about it is 100% perfect. My father is very happy with everything about how it works. He can go up and down the stairs as often as he wants now. It’s a huge improvement.

Unlike another company that was fairly new, I heard of Stannah a while ago and they could install the stairlift right away. The sales visit was straightforward and there was only one product they offered so that's the one I got. I wasn't interested in the higher priced ones. The installation team did their job very well and they were fine. I like the fact that the stairlift is there. I'm an old man and I get very tired walking up and down the stairs. Now, I can walk around and get things done much more easily, Today, for instance, I finished my laundry which took me three trips to the basement. Overall, everything worked out well.

My 17 year-old daughter has to be assisted in going up the stairs and I couldn’t get her up without a stairlift because she’s too heavy. We have used Stannah Stairlifts in another house and we had a good experience with them so we had them install a stairlift in our summer house. We did the transaction over the phone and it was very easy. I was not there during the installation so I had somebody meet the installation team. My contractor was also there and the installation went smoothly and all good. My experience has been great from start to finish and the stairlift has made everything much easier for us.

A friend has a Stannah stairlift in his home and he recommended it. All the sales reps were very wonderful and professional. And the installer was very good. I have cats so he abided by what I said about keeping the door to the house closed so that he could do what he needed to do in the basement and run outside. I'm 62 and I have gout in my knees. So I use the stairlift to go up and down the basement stairs. I had to get the least expensive one but I'm happy with that. My mother's also riding it. She's 91 and has a pacemaker so she would get winded going up and down the stairs. We love the Stannah stairlift. It's very good and very useful. I wish it was faster and had a speed button on it but it's saving my knees and I'm very satisfied with it.

My sister and I are in a ranch and we have a cellar which has the washer and the dryer. Trying to get up and down for that between ourselves and the baskets of clothes was really wearing on us. So the stairlift has been a big help and it's making life a lot easier. The sales person from Stannah wasn’t as pushy as someone else we had from another company. And he explained things a lot more so we were very happy with his visit. The installation team was great and patient with us because my sister’s 90 and I’m 75. And they showed us everything. Our experience has been very good and we have recommended Stannah to a couple of people.

The sales guy at Stannah Stairlifts was knowledgeable and helpful as far as what we needed. He knew what he was doing and what he was talking about and he recommended the stair lift that I got. It’s for my brother and he likes the remote control feature the best. It moves the chair up and down and he can get to the second floor with no problem now. I would recommend Stannah to someone who is looking for it.

We saw Stannah Stairlifts in the magazines at the rehab where my dad was. We called them and the rep we talked to was a good salesperson. He gave us several ideas and options because my mother has a raised ranch which is two levels. We rented two but then we had to cancel one because they didn’t work out. The young guy that came and installed it was very nice and amazing. My dad had a stroke and I like that we can bring him up and down instead of walking and taking the steps. It kinda rotates and there's a lock so we sit him there and through the front door. My mom sits there too with the laundry as sometimes she’s tired to go downstairs. It's expensive but my parents like it.

My daughter picked Stannah Stairlifts online. The sales visit was wonderful. It was an emergency. My husband was all of a sudden coming home after two years in the hospital. There are 12 steps to get down to the basement and he couldn't get down the stairs, so he missed the dialysis appointment. In the meantime, they sent him to the hospital and in that week, I had the chair lift installed. And the guy who came to the house was very nice. He wasn't pushy, explained everything to me and he had a nice little presentation on a laptop. Jacob came for the installation and he was fantastic, quick and polite. And he did a fabulous job.
I like the quietness of the stair lift. I use it myself now and it is exactly perfect for my needs. I had a stroke five years ago and I have to get up and down the stairs to take the trash out. It's been very helpful. And my washer and dryer are down in the cellar too. And I use it for that. Anybody who has seen this chair lift can't believe how nice it is. It looks like it's always been here. I would recommend them to anybody.
Hi Mrs. Carroll,
We understand that hospital and rehab discharges can be sudden and create an immediate need, almost overnight. We try to be as accommodating and prompt as possible, without pushing you into a decision that you're not ready for. We're happy to hear that in your case, the stairlift was the right decision and that you and your husband are finding things easier. Thanks for the kind words about our salesman and installer!

My wife likes the Stannah Stairlift a lot. It helped a lot but right now, I have it shut down because she's in rehab. The salesman was able to explain the product well and I went with the more expensive one but I got a good deal on it. Also, the installer who came was very good. On the other hand, the only complaint I have is when the installer hooked the wire up to the plug, it had to go on the floor and around some posts which are all dark wood. All Stannah has is white vinyl that covers the wires, so it doesn’t look very well against the dark brown, wooden floors and they don’t offer anything different which is unusual so, I will have to paint that at some time. Other than that, I've had a good experience.

We had a Stannah Stairlift at the church we go to. Then I put it in for my mother at her house. When I called and made an appointment, the sales representatives didn't show up. They said they didn't have anything in the system. Then the second time, they came late. But the installer, Nick, was absolutely fabulous, conscientious, courteous and efficient. He was very concerned that the stairlift would be put in correctly. He was there longer because there were some difficulties with lining it up. My mother's enjoying the stairlift. Her life was greatly improved because she has congestive heart failure so she needs it to up and down. I was very pleased.

The Stannah stairlift is so close to the wall and smaller than others. What it runs up on are smaller too and it's pretty looking. We saw other people's and they had these big tubes. Some of them are also ugly looking while ours is sleek and really attractive. It was also a little less expensive than a lot of the other ones. I'm really pleased with it and I'd recommend it.
Moreover, the sales reps were wonderful. They came right out within a few days, got right back to me and had all the information I needed and all the different types that I could put in. They told me exactly how much it was going to cost and it was right to the penny and what my choices were. Then the installer who came out was terrific and really nice. The installation was supposed to take six hours but I don't think it took him that long to install it. He also showed us how it all worked and asked us a couple of questions on how we wanted to plug it in and where we wanted it.
Our stairlift has worked beautifully. It runs nice and smooth and it gets my daughter upstairs with all the other bedrooms and she feels part of the family again. She was in the dining room so that worked out perfect for her. We also have this extra run that comes down right to the ground. Otherwise, the runner would come out and stick out. So this one is retractable and I love that. A lot of the other kinds don't have that.
Hi Mrs. Walsh,
We put a lot of care into our stairlift designs. We're so happy to hear that the extra effort made the difference for you and your family. Thanks for your kind words!

I only have five stairs and many of stairlift providers won't put half a stairlift on but Stannah did. The rep gave us a lot of information that we couldn't get from the phone from anybody. It was a cold day and then the installer told me that he could get it done within two hours. I have COPD and the stairlift is not so much going down as it is trying to get back up on the stairs. It has been great for me since and the footrest is my favorite. It was adjustable and it made me comfortable when I sat down. But I had a crap under the seat and I called Stannah. And then in two days they were here and knew how to fix it for me. The service that they gave afterwards was fabulous. Overall, Stannah is the best company I've ever had any business with. I have all my friends come up on the stairlift now. After all, when we all get to be in our 80's, we won't use the stairs very well.

My husband's cousin bought a house and then had one of those stairlifts in it. I saw it and I heard of Stannah somewhere along the line so that name stuck in my mind. I kept thinking I'd be okay but it just got worse and worse and I said, "We've got to do it." The rep came from Stannah and he told us about the loan that Massachusetts has for seniors to be able to modify their homes so they can stay in them. He was very nice, very informative and helpful. My husband called him for something and he said, "Oh, yeah, sure." It was good service. I was in the bedroom when they installed it and it went all right. When I came out, there wasn't any mess. We're having a sliding chair put in and handles put on so that I could get in the tub. It's encouraging to me because I was so limited for a while so I really appreciate the chairlift. My husband appreciates it too because he doesn't have to lift my legs anymore and I can run the thing myself.
We have a split level and at the upper part, there's a handle on the side that you have to do. The other one that goes downstairs has its automatic thing where you keep pushing the thing and it turns for you. At first, we got the one going downstairs like the one upstairs with the handle that you had to move yourself. But, because that one didn't turn, that was too difficult for me to get out. So my husband called the rep and they came and they put the other one in that turns itself. You just keep pressing the thing and it turns itself so we like that one a lot better. It's easy for me to operate.
I'm really glad we got Stannah Stairlifts put in. It's like a breeze going up and down the stairs now, where before, it was such a struggle. My husband had to lift my legs up on the steps and I had to use the cane. I fell a couple of times and it was awful. It was so painful. Also, at first I wasn't able to even bend from side to side. Now, I've got the walker, I've been doing some physical therapy so I'm walking better overall. I have more movement and I'm not as stiff as I was so I'm able to operate it myself. I don't dread going up and down the stairs anymore. I would certainly recommend it to anybody. It has made a huge difference for me. However, one thing that I don't like about it is the plastic. I was concerned about that at first. I'm leery about plastic because of how long is that going to last. Yet, it supports me all right. I hope it keeps doing the job.

We expect my wife to recover from her disability so we did not want to make a purchase but Stannah offered a lease so we chose them. The sales visit was fairly straightforward. The gentleman gave me pricing and suggested the model that would go in and said that it would then be turned over to an installer. I didn't know how many different models or products there were, but they came and put in what they thought was appropriate. The installer indicated it would take him several hours to install. We left him to his job and he then demonstrated how the remote controls and stairlifts would work.
However, it's been extremely aggravating because the stairlift does not operate consistently. They would indicate that there was a code and we would try to look up the code in the instruction booklet that we were given. The code would indicate that there was a blockage on the stairs but there were none. We would try to bypass the code system by taking the cover off and pushing a series of buttons. When that wouldn't work, we called for service but the service wasn't available on the weekends. They were very rude to us and gave us a lot of aggravation. My wife missed the doctor's appointment because she couldn't get down the stairs. We were extremely disappointed in the customer service from Stannah Stairlifts.
Hi Mr. Gendron,
We're sorry that you've had some issues with your stairlift. It sounds like the safety pads were pushed in, triggering the error code. An easy solution is to push on all of the pads, making sure that nothing is stuck or pressed in. We don't recommend taking anything apart though, as the error codes are the result of actual operating errors that need correcting. As for weekend service, this is not something that is typically provided for minor issues, but we do have emergency service available if your lift is not working over the weekend. We're sorry that you had a negative experience with our answering service and we will be sure to investigate further in order to correct the issue. We hope that you'll be happy with your stairlift and the service we provide going forward. If you need anything else, please give us a call!

My husband has Parkinson’s. We purchased Stannah Stairlifts, however, we had to have repair guys come because he inadvertently turned off the footrest by holding it too long but now we know that there’s a reset button in the back. The repair guy said, “Why didn’t you get an automatic one?” I didn’t know there was one. If it was mentioned, it was passed over too quickly to really think about it and my husband would have been better with one that swiveled on its own. Many times, it’s not turned the right way or he’s inadvertently turned it off, or he’s bumping into the lever that makes it go up and down or he’s turning the lever the wrong way. It’s not a complete success.
Also, the levers that swivel would be easier to notice if they were longer. Even now, I put green magic tape on it and he’s always reaching too far down. If it were the same length as the seat, it would be more automatic to notice it. It would be harder to make a mistake. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needed a stairlift because I couldn’t climb stairs. The service people have been very good but their sales people should highly suggest to have the automatically swiveling one in the future because it’s one less thing for a person to think about.
Hi Mrs. McCowan,
Thanks for providing this review. We agree that the powered swivel is a great option. You can definitely still add this to your stairlift at any time. This should resolve many of the issues you've raised here. Please contact your sales advisor or call our office. We're happy to help!

The salesman from Stannah was a very, very nice gentleman and the sales visit was very good. The installation man was nice too. He's a young boy and he spent a lot of time with us showing us how the stairlift works. And I was even on it just to learn how to use it. The presentation was very good. We picked out the color and the mattress. It’s navy blue and leather and it's very well with the house.
My husband had a knee replacement and he loves the stairlift. It's doing beautifully and he said it was so easy for him to use it. He had no complaints about it at all. He just sometimes doesn't want to use the seatbelt. Our favorite features of the stairlift are getting on it and the room for the legs. The ease turning around when one has to get up to the top of the steps is also wonderful. And it was very easy for my husband to get off the stairlift. We really like the stairlift and I’ve recommended it to a lot of people. If anybody is having trouble walking up the step, this is the perfect chair for them. I walk with a cane so the stairlift is here for me as well.

My stairway's a bit unusual and very tight. The end of the stairs is the doorway to the bedroom and the other companies I had tried didn't have a way for the chair to turn and for the track to end without causing an obstruction to the doorway. They would just make their apparatus fit my stairway but then Stannah Stairlifts said that theirs would be custom built so I thought that would be a better choice.
However, Stannah is a lot more expensive. But they are imported and it's like the cars. If we don't get an American car we're gonna pay for it. The others weren't free but they were half the price. I didn't have thousands in cash but I didn't have to pay for it all at once. It was nice that they have a flexible payment plan so even though it was costly, I was able to pay in six payments with no interest. That made it much easier. If I did it on a charge account with the other company I would have to pay interest.
The installers were wonderful. They came when they said they were gonna come, were very cordial and worked really hard. When they were done, there wasn't a wire, a tack or a piece of thread. They didn't destroy anything and they did a beautiful job. The wires had to come from a plug in the room so the wire had to come around and that's wall borders where the track is. The wires are attached right into the edge of the carpeting and the wall and I can't even tell there are wires. Plus, it doesn't interfere with vacuuming around the track.
I'm just concerned that it makes a lot of knocking as it goes around the curve where the junctures are. When it clanks my husband who's the one using it gets very nervous. He feels like he's getting a jolt and he's afraid that he would fall. But the technicians came a couple of times to try and straighten it out. They worked very diligently and it was very good. They lubricated it and that eased over those spots. We still knew it was going over a connection but it was nice and quietly smooth.
The men explained that there's an interruption and the teeth don't continue. That's a bad thing and that's part of the dilemma of having a curve. But then, my neighbor got hers from someone else and it's just a straight piece. It didn't come around the curve and I don't know how she manages to get her mom up the bottom three steps before the curves.
It seems that the greasing doesn't last. It was great for a week and a half and then it started clanking again so I have to call them again. I feel like the girl who cried wolf who's annoying. But they come, so I don't care, and they don't make me feel like an idiot. That's very important. Plus, it was quite costly so I'm hoping that it will not need something all the time. Otherwise it's been very well. I'm not even disappointed in them because they stood by their product. They kept trying to correct that little problem.

Just tell me what I need to do and I’ll sign on the line. And it’s got to be put in tomorrow or what it might be. Whenever.” He said, “No, no, no. I got to tell you this.” I said, “No. You don’t. On what?” He said, “Well, what about the color of the seat?” I said, “When you get in the car, pick a color because that’ll be right.” He said, “Maybe it won’t be right.” I said, “Oh, yes it will. It’ll be perfect, whatever color you pick. I don’t care what color it is.”
The stairlift gets my husband upstairs faster. He was in a car accident. The whole thing works. I had an accident while carrying clothes downstairs to the laundry. I slipped, fell the whole length of the stairs, and had a concussion. I heard Stannah Stairlifts was very good at service and they live nearby us. They got the stairlift in very quickly and we’ve been satisfied with it. The sales visit was very good. We had an older man who was very nice. He took his time and I was delighted with him. Their installers were definitely very nice people too. We have been very happy with Stannah Stairlifts, as well, because when we called them, they set up an appointment right away. I don’t hear about that from other companies. We looked at Acorn and they were extremely nice sellers, but since they’re bigger and distant, I think they won’t get things done for you if you’re having trouble because they’re too busy. But with Stannah, any time that we’ve needed any service, they were quick to send somebody out.
They're all nice people. However, there’s this one man who we’ve had twice for service who was very good but grouchy. You don’t have anything to do with him but he’ll tell you that he’s going to work on this part and which side are you doing to go up and down. I noticed that he’s a little disgruntled but it didn’t give us any problem because the work is done.
It didn’t take me any time at all to catch on how to use the stairlift. I use it sometimes and other times I walk because I don’t want to lose walking completely. There’s still plenty of room for me to be able to walk up and down the stairs, but I have to squeeze a little bit. I can also lift up the arms and if you design the stairlift properly, it can slide to the side. Stannah’s service people had to come back in a week and redo the arrangement because it came too close to my elbow.
The stairlift’s best feature is that it has downstairs’ things that you leave there on the table. There’s one for each. And then there is also a feature where you can do it by hand, so it's very hard to get into trouble with the stairlift if you want to use it. The thing I like the least is the footrest because I can keep my feet down but it's dangerous. My physiotherapist said it wasn’t a good idea because you could catch your feet. But if you go slowly, there would be no way you could catch your feet. Also, the cushions are harder, but I looked at somebody else’s and they’re almost as hard. Stannah has any color that you want to go with your wall. They do a good job of making their stairlift look as good as possible which a lot of places just don’t.

We figured Stannah Stairlifts is a well-known company and they have a good reputation so we chose them. The rep was very nice. He explained what was going to happen and he did a good job. They knew exactly what we needed and where it should end. The installation team was very neat and polite. I asked a few questions and they answered them. They knew what they're doing and they were doing a good job.
It was originally for my mother who was 97. We called Stannah Stairlifts because she was getting old and she had been going up and down the stairs. We thought to do it in a safer way. It was placed in her basement because it has a drive-in basement for her car. She passed away and it was placed in my sister's house who was blind. We were laughing because we use it mostly at my sister's for the groceries going up because we're all getting old. We said it's the most expensive dumbwaiter around. It was good for my mother and my sister. It made it a little bit easier for them. My sister passed away so we have it in our house now. We use it to get upstairs and downstairs to bring a lot of items. It's very handy. My grandkids also love it.

Stannah Stairlifts did a great job. They installed a lift for my mother and it's been great. They were in the area and they provided services like repairs if I needed since people need the equipment to work. I have tried other companies but they didn't have service available in the local area, unlike Stannah which is accessible. It's important that they're available in case the equipment is not in function.
The installation team was only one person and he did everything fast. My mother has many issues and somebody can help operate the stairlift. Also, it has a remote and unlike other companies, it doesn't need a lot of overhaul for the electrical. Stannah was easily able to connect the stairlift. I would recommend them 100%.

Stannah has been excellent across the board. The sales person was very thorough and he was right on time. He was very polite and very informative but wasn't pushy. The installer came on time. He was very young, very enthusiastic and well-trained. He called someone when one of the bolts fell out. He wasn't quite sure where to put it and the other gentleman helped him so everything was done in three hours. We tested the stairlift and my mother took two rides in it. He was very careful to make sure she could use it. She wouldn't use it alone because she has a movement disorder but it was good to have the practice. They also weren't rushing to their next appointment.
Stannah's features are better compared to others. We like the automatic foot board, the quietness, and the reliability. Also, the covered mechanism that makes the chair go up the stairs is easier to clean and it looks better than others. We also like the way the chair tilted at the top of the stairs where you could get the piece installed that turns it and automatically raises the footrest for my mother.

My sister had a Stannah stairlift put in and was very pleased with it. What better advertising is there than to have a relative say it's working fine. So we decided to get the same thing. The sales visit was very easy because we had already been down to Attleboro, seeing hers at Rodis. The agent didn't have to show us the video because we know all about it already. We talked to them about what they had and what they didn't have and we told them we wanted the exact same thing my sister had. The installer worked very hard and quickly because it is a long process. He was very good and polite. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
I like the whole thing. I can even put something heavy on it and then turn around and walk downstairs. Plus, seeing that I fell and hurt my ankle, I ride the chair up and down pretty much everyday depending on how much it hurts because I'm trying to walk on it. Anyone who needs help getting up and down over the stairs and are afraid that they're gonna fall should get a Stannah stairlift.

My wife had a problem with her walking up the stairs so I got a lift from Stannah and she likes it very much. My daughter told me that she knew and saw some people that had the same lift and liked it. The sales visit was very, very good. It was installed on February 14 and a guy came in yesterday for a follow up visit to check if everything was okay. The installer was also very good and knew his job. My wife said it's very easy and simple to operate. I also use the lift a couple of times even though I have no problem doing the stairs just to see, and I like the way the operation runs very smoothly. We are very pleased and made the right choice.

I would consider myself handicapped. I have a problem with the leg and it would be easier for me so I got Stannah Stairlifts. Now, I can come down without worrying that I'm going to have to walk up the steps again. Overall, it has been a wonderful experience except that when they installed it, the chair was damaged. The installer had written a note on it and said they're going a couple of weeks but it took a little longer than that. But, they have now put in a new chair and it included the push button to automatically turn on the seat which I didn't know about when I ordered it. The seat and the equipment were wonderful. The people who I dealt with were also very nice.
But, when they replaced the chair with the automatic turn, I discovered that it was $495 more. They never told me about it when we ordered it. I was shocked about that. The man who installed it said he would share that information. However, it's a wonderful thing to have it automatic rather than to have to bend over the steps to turn it by hand. Those were the only complaints I have about it. The equipment is working well and I enjoy using it. My favorite is the safety feature. In some places, it's a little bumpy ride but when the new chair was installed it's better than it was. It's a very comfortable seat to ride in and it has a foot rest which a lot of them don't have. It also has a seat belt to put across and it comes with a basket that fits on the seat so if you want to send stuff up and down or even hold it on your lap, it's something comfortable to do it with. I would recommend it.

I love Stannah Stairlifts very much. Everything that you wanted in it was there. We've really made a comparison and chose it because it's perfect. Their salesman was very, very helpful, answered all the questions and took his time doing it. It was a wonderful experience and I even watch them when they installed it and it was quite fascinating. I can get upstairs and do my paintings whenever I want to. It's been really a godsend. Moreover, when it gets down near the bottom it'll give two little jerks because it's going over that piece that comes down to the floor, so even if you had your eyes closed you'll know your down near the floor.

Bought a Stannah chairlift 9/10. The chair beeps meaning no power because contact with the power rail is intermittent. This caused the battery to fail early. It was replaced once under warranty and twice out of warranty. The chair does not go fully to top and bottom of stairs. Seat keeps tilting forward until they reposition it and re tighten bolts, but it comes loose days later. The seller came back often. They would reposition the seat and run it up and down a few times and pronounce it fixed. But within 24 hours it would fail again. After the warranty expired I had to pay hundreds of dollars for each visit. I called their home office in England but they just ignored me and wouldn't do what they promised. The owner of the dealership did not help either. 6 years later, nothing has changed, except I have given up using it.

One of my chairlifts has lost power. I was told initially that it was due to a motherboard and that it would take a few days to have it shipped in. It was the replaced but it again lost power. Then I was told an electrician need to repair the source. That was four weeks ago. Last week I was told they would come with the electrician to repair the problem on Friday, the 30th of Oct. No one showed and I had to try and help my wife down the stairs and we both fell and got injured. I called again but got no response as to when they will fix the problem.
