This will be the fourth time in 2 1/2 years that we had to have this model repair. The repairman has stated it is fixed each time, chairs works for about 5 months and then breaks again. This is very upsetting because I cannot get down in the basement to the laundry. Husband can't get down to work on his hobby. You would think they would know what they are doing.
Thank you for your review Terrie.
Our records indicate you have had the powered footrest serviced on 3 occasions. To prevent injury to the user, the powered footrest is designed with a stop mechanism if an obstruction is detected. To eliminate this as a factor that could hinder operation of your stairlift we recommend ensuring there is no weight on the footrest and nothing is in it’s pathway when pressing the footrest button. If you have any questions or concerns regarding safe operation of your stairlift do not hesitate to consult your user manual or call your Stannah dealer.
As a reminder, the Stannah warranty is void if a stairlift has been serviced, repaired, or modified by anyone other than our authorized technicians or has been subjected to negligence, misuse, or lack of maintenance. If you have any questions regarding this warranty you may reach out to your Stannah dealer for clarification.

Acorn is always on TV and they came over first but it was high pressure and the guy was weird. I didn't want him in the house. Plus they were pricey. Stannah is rarely on TV. They ran a commercial, I saw them so I decided to give them a call. The lady who came out was wonderful and very professional. I loved them. They were about $6,000 cheaper too. Both companies claimed to be high quality, but the Stannah lady was less pressure, very honest and very nice. She reminded me of myself when I used to be in sales. You either like it or you don't.
Two straight lifts needed to be put in and the installers were wonderful. The two guys took anywhere between three and four hours, and they were very professional and polite. I would recommend their company to anybody. I'm only 55 so I never thought I'd be using something like that at this age. But it makes a huge difference for me. It is awesome. I may even ask them to come back. I may want one going from the second to the third floor. But I gotta wait and see and consider its affordability.

I needed a stairlift to be able to get from one level up to another level. So, I got a straight one from Stannah Stairlifts. The installation of the stairlift and everything else went fine. However, the customer service at the home base needs to be spiffed up as it was not that great. I had one person who came out and went over the whole installation with me before I decided whether to buy or not. And once I decided to buy it, I called them and told them I met with the individual and I was ready to buy. Then, they sent somebody else out here. It was not a good situation. Once the second person realized that he was following up on another person, he went with what the original person said. It could've been a disastrous situation and I just bought and he agreed to the terms of the first person. Nevertheless, the quality of my stairlift is of very good quality.

I broke my hip and I have arthritis in my knee. I cannot go up the steps. I saw Stannah Stairlifts advertised on the computer. I looked in the phone book, and they were fairly near this area. The sales person who came to my home was very nice. He explained everything very well. We had a straight stairlift installed and it fits perfectly. The installers didn't bother us. They were even speedy considering all the work that had to be done, and they were very nice. So far, the quality of the stairlift is fine.

My wife and I are getting older. Going up and down the stairs with groceries is getting out of hand a little bit. I walked around and I looked at a couple of stairlift providers and they couldn't do what I wanted. So, we had Stannah Stairlifts come over. They have been in business longer than Acorn and they were polite. Jonathan came and measured everything. We explained what we needed done. He had camera and all those other stuff. There were two installers who came as well. Stannah was not cheap but they did a really good job. The quality of the stairlift is also very good.

When I looked at Stannah, I've looked at the cost and reviews. I got the curved, indoor stairlift which the installation team installed quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up after themselves. Since the stairlift was installed, my husband, who can't walk, can now go from the second to the first floor. And although the stairlift is expensive, it works well. It's also something that we needed so that's what we have.

My experience with Stannah was beautiful. We had a Stannah stairlift before that was older, that my mom had bought. It was starting to get squeaky and noisy. A Stannah representative came to the house and gave us the materials, then we decided to purchase a new one, and we love it. It’s quiet and it runs beautifully.

Our orthopedic surgeon required some kind of help for my husband and we were even looking forward to a wheelchair that he can use in the living room, that he can guide himself instead of me pushing. I’m 87 and he’s 95 so we needed something and Stannah Stairlifts was the group I knew about. The man that came was wonderful. He was clear, patient, quick and prompt. He knew he was selling something, but he wasn’t overbearing. He was just perfect for his job. The two men that came to install it were very polite. I couldn’t ask for anything nicer. Stannah's service has been great. I haven’t had any need to have them come back and put little batteries in for the light or anything and it’s been wonderful for me. My husband’s the one who really needs it but I ride it up and down. I don’t have to carry the laundry up and down anymore so I get a little bit of relaxation.
My husband rides it with a laugh on his face too. Because of the dementia he has, it took a little while to learn how to move the little guide for up and down. He kept trying to lift it and pull it. And like dementia patients do, he started out swinging his cane and denting the refrigerator, an anger burst every once in a while. He was treating the stairlift that way at first. Now, he doesn’t have a problem. He can go in, sit down, he knows how to make the little platform go up and down so he can get close enough with it in the upright position, so that he can get on the chair, push the button, make the stand go down for his feet. He also zips up with a big smile and he has a rollator waiting for him to go to the bedroom. So, it’s wonderful.

I can’t walk very far so I needed a stairlift to exit the house to go to the doctor’s. I had Stannah for my wife about six years ago and it worked well then, so I went back to them. I called them up, ordered the stairlift and sent a check in. I had a straight one installed and it fits into our home just fine. However, with only one arm available, it was hard for me to get into it. I had to do an adaptation on a railing so I can get into it better.
The only thing is, the installation went very poorly. The holes in the wall were there before and, six years ago, I saw it only took a few hours to install. This time, the guy took all day. He refused to do certain things because he said the door was too close. We had to call his supervisor to get that changed. The installer did those things eventually because his boss told him to, and it was installed fine but it took eight hours and arguments. It was not a pleasant installation. Whereas in the past, when I dealt with Stannah, everything was fine. Still, I would recommend them. But I would hope they wouldn’t send out the same installer.

My husband is in his 80s. He had a fall and the physical therapy practice gave us the name Stannah to go with. The sales people and the reps we worked with were very lovely. We have rented two straight ones for the basement. While my husband doesn't like it at all because he'd rather be walking, I wasn’t going to take any chances. Besides, he does use it to go down the stairs so he can take a shower. He also uses it when we have to go outside or when he's tired. Other than that, the quality of the chair is very good, Stannah Stairlifts is terrific and I highly recommend them.

Since having the Stannah stairlift installed, my husband can go up and down the stairs. He has MS and we decided to go with Stannah as they're local to us. My experience working with their sales rep was fine. I did a lot of research on the internet before we even spoke, so it was an easy sell. While the quality of the straight stairlift was fine, our doorcase overlapped on our staircase by about six inches, so it makes our staircase narrow, which would require us to widen our doorcase. Despite that issue, my husband likes the ease of getting in and out of the stairlift.

The fellow who came to install the Stannah stairlift was good and thorough. He had to come out from Franklin, MA and by our standards, it's a fairly long drive. But he came within 10 minutes of the time he said he was going to arrive, which I thought was good. This fellow was pleasant and knowledgeable as well. He showed me everything to do and showed me the trouble code is a little LED counter that tells you if there's a problem with it. We ran it up and down. He showed me all the features too.
The stairlift I have is a used one but that one is good. It has some peculiarities like if it's been sitting for a long time, which means the batteries have thoroughly topped off to be of low voltage, and I'm going down the stairs, it starts fast. And then, for 2 feet, it goes its normal speed and then, it goes slow all the way down to the bottom of the stairs. If I stop to go back up the stairs, I then go back down, it goes down at its normal speed. And it only happens if it's been sitting unused for several hours. Other than that, the salesperson was very good, the unit is nice, and having local support and a local installation is worth a bit.

Stannah's salesperson came and we were very happy with the presentation. We concluded that we wanted to get their stairlifts, called their customer service department and told them that we wanted to go forward with the order. Their installers were prompt and came as they said they would. They did a very thorough installation that was very neat and clean. Afterward, they gave us considerable instruction on how to operate the unit. The tech wasn't in any hurry to run away so we couldn't have been happier. Now we have two straight stairlifts from them. It looks bulletproof and I can recognize the quality. Our stairlifts are remarkable. They're easy to operate. If we want to bring things up or downstairs, we can put it on our lap. Having the Stannah stairlifts has been very convenient.
Thank you Dean for your review. As a family focused business, we appreciate hearing how a Stannah stairlift has made going up and down the stairs easier and impacted your life for the better.

I used Stannah stairlift for my wife 10 years ago and it was very, very good. They are only one of the few companies that I called that's rent to buy which I find very convenient so I decided to purchase a stairlift from them at this point. My son did mostly the ordering and everything else. When I came home, it was already installed. So far, everything's fine. I like it very much. The button for the foot, the arms go up fine. However, it's a little slow. I also have to reach for the crossbelts underneath the arm, pull it across the legs to install it. I wish it was in the back that'd come across the shoulders so that it'd be easier to reach. Other than that, I have no complaints. We have it in our staircase and it fits perfectly. Once everything is folded up, we can get by. If anyone asks about a stairlift, I would recommend Stannah very, very highly. Their company is very good as well as their policy.

Both of my parents needed help getting up and down the stairs and Stannah Stairlifts has been great. I looked them up and they were extremely responsive. They were there on time, early, and provided everything they said they would. They explained to me my different options for ownership over the phone, versus leasing, versus new and old or refurbished, and answered all those questions that I've been pointing. The guy was there in 48 hours on time, sat down with me, checked the house up to make sure it could accommodate the stairlift. They showed me where everything would go in terms of the wires and plugs and was very comprehensive and said it would be installed in five days.
He was back within that time frame installing, so it couldn't have gone any better. My mom has dementia and she was able to use the stairlift, figure out how to do it with a little supervision. She's on it and doing what she needs to do. It took her a couple of days to get used to it, but she's good. If people wanna call me as reference, they can. I would speak the world of Stannah.
Thank you Ed for sharing your feedback on your Stannah stairlift. We’re glad your mom is able to use it and benefit from it.

My wife is not able to walk up and down the stairs so we had to purchase a stairlift. I looked up the names of a few stairlift providers and a representative from Stannah came out. I also met with somebody else but we decided that we liked Stannah’s product and we had the arrangement to purchase it. I met with the sales rep and he went over everything. We went through pictures to discuss the various options available, pricing and how to order. We have the straight stairlift installed in our home. It goes up one side of stairs and it fits in fine. My wife likes the whole thing. The device has a light on the left arm of the chair and a little switch that energizes the chair at the moment. There is also a couple of power switch but there is no way to turn the light off.
Then at night, with the chairlift at the top of the stairs in the dark hallway, that thing blinks and it really lights up the whole area. It's amazing. I wouldn't think anything of it during the day, but at night I do. I have to cover it with something so it is annoying. I don't know how to turn that off the power switch on the underside of the chair itself. Nevertheless, we are satisfied and very pleased with the Stannah Stairlifts. Everything seems to be fine right now but we’ll see how things hold up. The idea of having it made it possible for my wife to go up and down the stairs in the style of house that we have. She probably wouldn't have been released from the hospital at that time had we not have the stairlift installed right then. I would recommend Stannah. In fact, we show the stairlift to anybody who comes in here and we talk about it.

My mother has very poor balance because and because she's arthritic, she was having great difficulty climbing the stairs. She's on oxygen, so it was getting very difficult for her to climb the stairs, and she would always be out of breath. Her staircase was unusual, it has two curves, so we needed something that was going to fit her circumstances made specifically for her situation. My sister and niece insisted on Stannah Stairlifts. I had my misgivings, but I am very pleased with the way it is on the staircase. It's not overwhelming, it's extremely secure. It's been a very positive thing here. The young men who installed it. They were very professional, congenial, and did their work. They were very efficient that it actually went together faster than I had anticipated.
My mother does not use it unsupervised but it makes her life easier and this has facilitated her daily routine. The bathroom is upstairs, her bedroom downstairs and hygiene is very important to the elderly even if she's just sitting all day. It's a part of your self-esteem to be clean. So, in that regard, that area is easier to facilitate.
Thank you Mary for your honest review. We’re glad to hear your Stannah stairlift has made life easier for your mother and your overall experience with Stannah has been so positive.

The Stannah stairlift is a good product to have when you have an ailing elderly person in the home and it's the only way for them to get up the stairs. Otherwise, we would have had to get a hospital bed and put on an extra room in the first level for our mother. So the stairlift pays for itself. We chose Stannah because of the warranty and their reps were all excellent, very accommodating and flexible. The straight indoor stairlift fits perfectly into our home, and the guy who installed it worked very hard to make sure we understood exactly how to use it. He did a couple of trial runs just to make sure we were all on board with how to use the device. He was very personable and accommodating as well.

My experience during the sales visit was wonderful. And I liked Jacob. He was very cute and nice. And Hanna was very cooperative. Everything about Stannah was wonderful. It's heaven. The Stannah Stairlifts sales rep and installers were great. The installers demonstrated the stairlift and they were very patient with my mother. My mother is 95 years old and 110 pounds. She couldn’t go upstairs unless there was somebody walking with her. I went upstairs with her at night, but now, with the Stannah stairlift, she could say goodnight and go to bed. The stairlift gives my mother the freedom to go up and down in safety. It’s perfect for her. However, it would be better if they could make the motorized seat so that when it gets to the top of the stairs, it completely turns towards her room. I don’t mean it has to deliver her into her bedroom, but I thought that it would turn away from the stairway more. The seat where her butt is turns 60 degrees, but it doesn’t turn 110 degrees. Plus, the foot platform stays where it is and doesn't rotate. The post moves and turns the body, but the feet don’t move with it.

A member of my family got very sick and wasn’t able to use the stairs, so we had to install a stairlift. Stannah was referred to us. We got the straight stairlift. The dimensions suited the tight stairwell. I was actually in Florida at the time, and it was installed in New York. So the interaction with them was over the phone and we had a friend take care of the installation. It was superb and seamless, and it couldn't have been better. The rep was very professional, too.
The installation took two hours which was mind-boggling because I expected it to be sort of a day or so. Literally, they were in and out in a couple of hours. The only issue was we had to install an outlet there. But other than that, it was just so easy. No mess. Everything was done so cleanly. I have used the stairlift just to ride it to see how it worked. When we came back from Florida, I got on the stairlift first to make sure it was all good, and it was great. It is simple to use and inexpensive. I was amazed at how not cheap but inexpensive it was. I expected to be spending an awful lot more money on something like this.

Stannah's salesman was excellent as his arguments were better than the one from Acorn. Acorn started $1,000 higher than Stannah but then they matched Stannah's price. They were trying to gouge too much while Stannah was more honest with their price. Also, Stannah was the better product based on the way it was made and the fact that it was one piece cut into sections. The double-rail system looked sturdier to me.
I got one from them and the installers showed up right on time. They were very efficient and gave the information. I talked to them about a couple of things, and their answers were really good. They gave us a complete demonstration of how to operate it. They clearly knew all the features. They did their business and cleaned everything up perfectly. We have a much older house so it has a lot of small rooms. Stannah's curved stairlift with one landing and 90-degree turn fit in there perfectly.
Thus far, we've had no problems operating the stairlift and it seems to be working really well. The power footrest is good and my mother who had a hip operation doesn't have to bend down. Otherwise, she would have trouble lifting it with the toe of her food. That’s a good feature which was included in the price. Another good feature is the seat. It needs to be smooth enough so the person sitting can slide on and off a little bit. One of the other stairlifts had seats that weren't nearly as slippery. The one we have has a comfortable seat that allows the passenger to get in and out very easily. The movable armrest is a good feature too. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the stairlift.

I have a concern about either my husband or me falling. Originally, that was the case, and he adjusted it so that it’s up higher. But it’s still a little bit of a concern. But other than that the installation team has been fine. Everything was appropriate. The quality of the product is also very good.

Long before my wife had the need for those kinds of services back in October, I recognized that she was having difficulty climbing the stairs, so I arranged for a visit by the representative. The rep was wonderful and she explained everything that I would need, what the costs were and the functions of the stairlift.
The experience with the installer that came out to put it in was absolutely excellent. It took about five hours to do it, which he explained ahead of time. Everything that he did was very professional. We had a straight stairlift installed and it had to have an arm. The stairlift takes up a lot of space but it can be easily moved out of the way. I wish that it could be at the bottom location but it does not get charged when it is down there. So, we moved it in the middle of the stairway, which kinda blocks the stairway. If I had any druthers, I’d like it to be powered to charge the battery while it is in the fully down position. In the fully up position, there is no hope of getting by it, but in the fully down position, we can get by it fine.
My wife is presently in rehab and she is gonna be discharged on March 5th, so I am making preparations to service her at home. One of the things that she can’t do now is to stand. Eventually, she will be able to use the stairlift to go upstairs to her bedroom and to her TV room. I am totally convinced that we made the right decision by having the quality and the functionality of Stannah Stairlifts. I saw the reviews on the internet. Other people took the time to recommend the product and it was influential in my decision. Stannah got some good people and a good product, too.

I looked up on stairlifts on the internet and Stannah came up. I called and spoke to their salesperson. He came out and was very professional. I liked him a lot. He knew his product inside and out and made suggestions on what he thought would be the best for us, which were spot on. It was a good purchasing experience. Then the installation took only a couple of hours. There was one rep and he was very fast. We got a straight, indoors stairlift. It’s the chair that turns when it gets to the top of the stairs and/or turns when it gets to the bottom of the stairs for easy sitting and getting up. It does what we wanted it to do. We use it for a combination. Occasionally, my wife would use it for sitting. We’re using it a lot as a lift too. The garage is on one floor, and the main level’s on another, so we use it to get things from the garage to the main level.

The price of the Stannah stairlift was good. And their rep who came out for a sales visit had a nice demeanor. He was very knowledgeable about the product and he wasn't even pushy at all. The stairlift was definitely an asset. It fits well into my home and since I have elderly parents, we definitely needed it. So far, they like the stairlift.

My father couldn’t walk anymore. And the stairlift from Stannah saved his life. It’s great. Stannah was the best at what he looked at. It was within his price and they also had a leasing program. When my father and I first spoke about it, he was gonna buy one, but I told him, “Your best bet is try to find somebody that leases it.” So, that’s the route that he went. He uses the stairlift every day, and he likes the swivel effect. When you get to the top of the steps, it swivels out. He also likes the fact that it goes up and down the stairs. It’s simple.

We needed a stairlift because my mother, who is elderly, came to live with us. I liked Stannah's salesperson. He was upfront and honest. He explained everything to a T, so when the stairlift was installed, I knew exactly how to run it. The installer was here for around three hours. He was on the perfectionist side and he made sure that nothing was ruined on my stairways. He was very good. He gave me instructions on it again and showed me exactly what he had done, and what it was supposed to be in case there was a power failure.
I like the stairlift and it fits perfectly within our stairwell. My only problem is when it reaches its destination, either to the top or the bottom of the stairs, it doesn’t fully turn and it goes at an angle. And for somebody in a wheelchair, it’s a little difficult to get in without assistance. Nevertheless, my mother had a doctor’s appointment and we had to get her out of the house, down the stairway, and into a chair car. If we didn’t have the stairlift, I have no idea how we would’ve gotten her down the stairs.
Thank you for providing a review of your Stannah straight stairlift. We also like Tony and Joe, our salesperson and installer who came out to visit you. Stannah is a family business, and we pride ourselves in putting the customer first, so if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to our customer support team.

Stannah is local and that meant a lot to me in case anything happened with the stairlift. My husband and I enjoyed having their rep at the house. She was very nice and answered all our questions. I had a good experience with Stannah. They came when they said they were going to. They gave us rebate options and we could also keep it if we wanted to, which is good because it was expensive to have the stairlift put in. Meanwhile, the young man who installed the stairlift did a great job. He kept it clean, and he showed us how to use it. I bought the stairlift for my mom and it's good for her since she wouldn't be able to do the stairs at this point. Stannah is a good stairlift. I would recommend it if someone was looking for one.

My husband has ALS. A friend recommended Stannah Stairlifts because we can buy directly from them and there’s no intermediary. Their sales rep left me all the information. It’s a very expensive item but we couldn’t be without it. They installed it on the date that we needed it, which was an important date because my husband was coming home from the hospital that afternoon and he wouldn’t be able to get up the steps if we didn’t have it. After we had it for a week, the chair level needed to be raised because my husband had trouble getting out when he got up to the top step. A guy named Richie came and he adjusted it. It has been fine ever since.
The rubber that gets the chair moving is starting to tear though and a cap on the right arm of the chair falls off. I also don’t like the noise that it makes to remind you that it’s down so nobody trips over it. I understand the point of it but when I get my husband out of the chair and then I have to get him seated someplace else, it keeps making that noise and I can’t attend to it right away. But other than those, everything has been fine.

I've looked over who was available, who was local and who had a good reputation for a stairlift and found Stannah. Their salesman was very knowledgeable and seemed to be great with it. I got the curved model and they did an excellent job of installing it. It'd be nice though if it was closer to the rail so that there is more room on the stairs but other than that, it's all right. It's also pretty smooth however, I can feel the teeth on the drive when it comes up but that's expected. My wife is the prime user of the stairlift and it has impacted her life considerably. It made things easier for her.

My husband was having a lot of difficulties getting around. He was 84 and he liked to be outdoors as much as he could. I talked to my friend and she said that she was very happy with Stannah. My son also did some research and he felt that it was as good as any of the other ones, if not better. So I ordered the stairlift based on my friend's recommendation. The stairlift that we purchased goes from my living room down to the basement. We have a walkout cellar, and I have a basketry studio down there.
When it was installed, we were in the middle of going from the hospital to the nursing home. But I've met two different guys from Stannah because when I called it in to order the stairlift, my son told me which one to get. I just took the bottom number and that was not the one that he had circled. I didn't get the one that turned automatically so I called and paid the extra money and had the totally automatic one put in. My husband never made it home, but I decided to keep the stairlift because I have trouble with my back and my knees. Sooner, I'm going to need it.
While there was a demonstration of how the stairlift worked, I would like to know if I can disable the beeping when it goes to the bottom of the stairs. There was no beeping when the first guy installed it, but when they came back to put the correct automatic swivel at the top and the bottom of the stairs, he told me there was an alarm system that had to be on it. I would leave it at the bottom of the stairs during the night, and then during the day, I would put it halfway up so that it would charge. The guy that I spoke to told me that I have to leave it on the stairs, part way up because of the trickle charge. If I bring it down to the bottom of the stairs and just leave it there, it keeps going "beep, beep," and it drives me absolutely crazy. My son said to shut it off. I did shut it off but when I turn it back on, it doesn't seem to work quite right away. Other than that, everything is fine. I use it to take the laundry and the groceries down.
Hello Margaret,
Our deepest condolences to you upon the passing of your husband.
We are glad that your stairlift has become a beneficial addition to your lifestyle. Our records show you purchased a retractable rail. For safety reasons, these rails were designed not to charge while parked at the bottom of the stairs to prevent a user from inadvertently obstructing the walkway. The beeping is an indicator that the unit is not charging, which could explain the delayed function upon turning it on again. We recommend parking the chair a few steps up from the fully retracted rail to prevent this issue. If you have additional questions or issues please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Stannah's guy came out right away within appointment and he was very impressive. I'm an engineer and I build clean rooms all over the country, which is the most complicated construction there is so I can tell when someone is doing a good job. He was very well-organized, professional, and knew what he was doing. There were some small issues that I didn't realize before the installers arrived, but everything was taken care of splendidly. The stairwell is tiny and they managed to cram the stairlift in so that it fits us. Neither my wife nor I is small and it works fine. It's a pleasure to ride up and down. The stairlift is very ingenious. We're old people and it is how we get to the basement where the laundry is. We're aging baby boomers and we both need the safety and security of the stair climber. We have a one-storey house but we have a basement.
The stairlift is very comforting to have. We could've paid less but we like the service. We expected to get it and we got good service. I like what we got and should we ever move to a house with more stairs, we'll put another stairlift in. Also, we would be delighted to give Stannah's name if anybody wants a referral or recommendation, .

The guy who did the installation waited until my mom got there to go over on how to operate it. We had a straight stairlift installed. It has only been there for two weeks and it seems to have very good quality. It fits very well on the stairwell. I have to squeeze a teeny bit if I walk by it at the top of the stairs, but it's very efficient for the space overall. Then one gentleman came and he did the installation, and he showed me how the stairlift worked. He was good and he seemed to know what he was doing.
The stairlift I have is the indoor type and I have like a split look. You come into the garage, you go up seven stairs to the foyer, and then six stairs up into the kitchen. So, I had mine put in straight up, and then the other one because it was cheaper that way. It's almost $12,000 for the whole thing new, so I got it split like that and I got a used one to cut down the price. The stairlift fits well into my home and stairwell, and its quality is good. I've got a friend who’s about 300 pounds, and the stairlift is tough. And when I go up and down myself, without using the stairlift, I just push the handles up, which is good. It gives me enough room to get by without getting hurt. Overall, my experience with Stannah has been very good.

On the other hand, the people from Stannah Stairlifts who came for a sales visit were wonderful and I liked them a lot. They were very efficient and informative. We had Stannah install a straight stairlift for us. Likewise, the installers were wonderful. They were punctual and cleaned up after themselves.
I like the stairlift that we got. I had a little issue with the foot thing, but they fixed it. In terms of how the stairlift fits our stairwell, it is tight but it works. It has made things much easier for my husband and me and it works out for both of us. I have a heart problem and the stairs knock me out, so I use the stairlift too. I had to have the installers come back, though, and they should be here sometime this week to extend the railing for me. My husband is disabled, so we purchased a stairlift from Stannah. My experience with Stannah was fine. The process was smooth and the reps were courteous. However, there are a couple of mechanical issues with the product. I told Stannah about it and a guy went out. Part of the problem was that the patented rail extension doesn’t sit correctly. But it doesn’t happen all the time. The guy worked on it, but it’s still doing it. And on top of that, the little round button at the end of the arm to make the footrest go up and down seems to stick.
It’s easy enough for me to jump into the chair and operate it. But for somebody with Alzheimer’s, that’s a harder job because of the ability to know that you’ve gotta hit the lever and hit the button and put the arms down and then go charge it after. That is a lot of things for somebody with Alzheimer’s to try and keep straight. Most of the stairlift seems really solid, but my husband’s 220 pounds with very bad balance and when he goes to sit down, he plops in it, and I keep wondering if it’s gonna tear the rail out. But the guy assured me when he put it in, it would handle my husband’s weight. Nevertheless, this stairlift is a godsend for my husband to be able to go upstairs and downstairs.
I have an office on Mill Street in Springfield, and it’s in an old mill building. There are no elevators in that building which makes it arduous to get up to the second floor where my office is and virtually impossible for any elder law clients that I might have coming in. I am going to approach the landlord of the building and suggest he put one of these stairlifts in.
Thanks Linda for your review. We have attempted to reach out to you to schedule a service visit. If you still have concerns about the rail and footrest you can reach out to our service department.

The stairlift from Stannah was probably the best product of the couple that we had looked at. We had a couple of companies come in and explain their products and what they did. And this one was more expensive, but it was a much better product. It has drastically improved the quality of my sister's life. It's helping her a lot. She can get up and down the stairs as she wants to, doesn’t need to have one of her siblings or her children actually come over and help her up the stairs at the end of the day, or down the stairs at the beginning of the day. My sister is loving the stairlift.
The rep stressed the safety and the quality of the product, as opposed to trying to detract from other products. And the gentleman who did the install really made sure that my sister felt comfortable with it before he left. He stressed the different safety features and made sure she was able to work with it. I’m 83 years old and just getting a little worn out. I’m still able to go up and down the stairs and I’m still able to do things. I wanna keep doing things that I’m doing as long as I can. The Stannah stairlift was given to me by a friend. They lived in a town here in Suffield, then they moved to South Carolina and then they went to Florida. They had a house up here and they were gonna sell the house. Their daughter said that if I wanna hire the stairlift people to remove the stairlift there then install in my house, that I could have it for whatever it would cost to do it, so I did it.
The installer from Stannah was great. He knew exactly what he was doing and went right to work on it. He’s a real asset to the Stannah team. He also demonstrated how the stairlift works. It’s fairly simple, straight up and down. It doesn’t go around any turns or anything. The quality of the stairlift is excellent. It's a wonderful thing. I have a very difficult stairway that's bold and straight. It looks more like the kind of stairway you would find in a boat coming up from the lower deck to the upper deck. It's flat, steep and no backing on the stairs. But after 45 years, I'm used to it, so I've never had any accident on the stairs. I'm going to need a stairlift, however, probably within the next five years, so getting a stairlift seemed to be the right thing to do. Having one also made my son feel more secure since I had this experience of a fall.
The rep from Stannah was terrific. Whenever I had a question and I called, the wait time to hear back from her was always less than an hour. The overall quality of the build seems great. I watched the installation all day and everything was professional. No kids have come in and bumped on it. It has just been me. The unfortunate thing is that the stairlift is here. And since it's here, I'm much more prone to use it than to walk up and down the stairs which is too bad because I should be doing that. I don't wear my Fitbit going up and down the stairs, but I miss out a bit on the exercise. But that's all right.
Stannah has got that stuff together. They know what they're doing and their representatives are trained well. They are usually dealing with older people and they know how to handle that. It's a specific quality of personality you have to have. If people are crotchety, they have to know, "How do you soothe people like that?" Most of us don't wanna ever be old, but when someone comes in and installs a stairlift, they're like,"Oh, I guess I am old. Still, my experience with Stannah has been excellent and I couldn't be happier. The Stannah stairlift works.

He was very interested in me, and why we wanted the chair and what we were looking for.
I wanted to go and see the stairlift. I wanted my husband to be able to sit in it and make sure it was good for him, but he fell out of the shower before I was able to do that, so we never got that opportunity. In the end, we bought it in good faith. The installer, Jacob, was a sweetheart. Whenever he talked to me, he stopped what he was doing, he got off his knees, looked me in the eye, and we had a conversation. You don’t know how infrequently that happens these days. The product is great. Jacob did not leave the house until he knew that I felt confident about running that chair.
I love everything about the stairlift. I love the way it looks. It’s not overwhelming. I’m very fussy. I live in a condo, and the lift is unobtrusive. It does a great job. I have recommended Stannah. Their reps were wonderful and they were one of the reasons why we decided to purchase. The gentleman came to the house to speak with me about it, and there was no pressure. He was very personable and knowledgeable, and he answered all my questions. I didn’t ever hear, “Well, if you sign with us today…” which is always irritating. My husband was in the hospital at the time that he came out, and he gave me his card and told me to call him if I or my husband had any questions. My husband came home unexpectedly, and the rep arranged for our stairlift to be put in quickly. I was quite surprised that he was able to do that. Those are the things that mean a lot.
We went with the straight stairlift that's for indoors, and the chair part swivels at the top of the stairs. So, when you get up, you’re not on the edge of the stairway and you’re facing the wall in the hallway. The person who came to install it was wonderful. He had it up and running and he taught us how to do it. My husband has balance issues as well so the swivel at the top makes a huge difference. I feel much more secure with him getting out of that chair, standing in the hallway, rather than teetering on the edge of a stair. As for the sturdiness of it, you get in it and you're going up the stairs, and you don’t feel like, “Is this gonna make it?” Stannah is the company to go with, and we have not been a bit sorry. I would highly recommend them to anybody.
Hello Sharon,
Thanks for your kind words. We're glad you had such a great experience with our representatives and installers! Stannah has worked hard to ensure the highest safety standards and we maintain a strict process from design through installation. We're glad that this has helped you and your husband feel safe and secure at home. If you ever need anything, we’re just a call away.

My husband has Alzheimer's and he can't walk. A stairlift is a necessity so we purchased one from Stannah. However, the step for going where you put your feet didn't work. So, I called the company and Benny, the serviceman, called back. He was prompt but he could have been a little more polite. He asked why I didn't know how to work it and why I didn't read the manual. I told him I wasn't here when it was installed. He also said, "Oh, you can fix that yourself, blah blah blah." I did fix it. He walked me through it but he was abrupt. My only problem with the stairlift was it doesn't turn automatically, which I wasn't aware of when I bought it. I just bought it online that's why I didn't realize that it doesn't change. Apparently, you have to pull up a lever and then my husband has to turn, which is difficult for him. Nevertheless, the stairlift takes him up and down.
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry that you felt the serviceman was abrupt. We always try to be courteous. We’ll make sure we address it so that in the future you have more positive experiences. We do have a power swivel option that automatically turns the chair to face the landing as you hold the hand control. This comes at an additional cost, but can be retrofitted to your stairlift. If you would like find out more about this option you can call our service department.

We went with Stannah since my father had used them before, and everything was good during the sales visit. The rep answered all my questions, and she was pleasant. There was a little confusion on where to put the stairlift, so the installation guy had to come back again 'cause he had the wrong parts. It works well, though I feel that we should move it to the other stairs. Still, he also answered all my questions.
Andrea, thanks for your review. We’re sorry that there was some confusion with the installation but we’re happy that your stairlift is now working well. If you’d like to move your stairlift to another staircase or explore other solutions give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

He put together the straight indoor stairlift in no time and we had a beautiful experience with the installation. The stairlift made it easy for me to walk up and down the stairs. I can't walk and I needed a stairlift. My wife had a pleasant experience with Stannah's rep during the sales visit and she said that he was very personable. We had straight stairlifts installed and they fit our home beautifully. We have two stairlifts. One with five steps going up to the bedrooms and another one with five steps going down from the kitchen to the playroom. There were two men who did the installation. The one who did the upper one seemed to know precisely what he was doing but the one that did the lower one installed it, but it needed adjustments and it wasn’t operating absolutely perfect. She said he was a lovely man, but he didn’t seem to be as knowledgeable as the other one.
She said that the installation was absolutely perfect once they're done and there was no clean up on anything necessary. Everything operated at that moment as she expected it to. However, my wife said that the stairlift doesn't always respond immediately. She used it herself on occasion. If she sits in, she has to wiggle a little bit, then there’s a click, and then it goes on. Sometimes, it just goes immediately, it kinda hesitates then she has to shuffle a little bit. With the stairlift going up to the bedrooms, she said she’ll hear a scraping that sounds like metal against metal as she turns it around to get off on an occasion. She's wondering if that isn’t aligned properly also. Other than that, I like that the stairlifts work and they made our life a lot easier.

The installation experience was perfect. The installer was on time and he was done in less time than expected. Also, the quality of the stairlift is very good. I am 80 years old and as one gets older, one needs some assistance going up and down the steps. I looked at three stairlift providers, had them come out and talked to them. All salesmen from all three companies that I interviewed were very pleasant and helpful. I also read about the experience, read about overloading mostly and Stannah was, by far, the most reliable. The facts about experience with the equipment, availability of service and speed with which they respond to a request for a service sold me on them. And although I’ve only had these chairs for a few weeks, that has also been my experience.
They were very competent and the people who came out were very forthcoming with information about what specifically was wrong. They explained to my full satisfaction what they were doing to remedy the issues and I’m very, very, very impressed. The guy who installed the straight one was new so he flubbed a couple of things which caused me to ask for the guys, who came in later to install the curved lift, to take a look at what was happening to the straight one. They spent a lot of time undoing some of what the first guy had done and remedying that. But they were not defensive about it and said that he’s new. I understand why he may not have done a perfect job, but they sure fixed it and now it’s working perfectly.
The stairlifts are of excellent quality and they fit perfectly into my home. They’re not cheap though. The core methods of Stannah's appeal to homeowners is instead of moving, why don’t people adapt their home to their needs. For a while there, I was getting a lot of pressure from wife and children to move to a single story dwelling. But it’s a lot more complicated than adapting the home to one’s needs, and the lifts have made a tremendous difference. So, it’s no longer a household, to move from one to another. It has made it a lot easier to access a garage which is at the basement level. So, instead of tending to leave cars outside, we now tend to always garage them, especially for my wife who’s even more impaired than I am. It has meant a radical change in comfort, so it’s well-worth the expense. The expense is negligible if you compare it to the cost and hassle of moving and changing location at one’s advancing age.

A friend that had Stannah referred us to them and we got the chairlift when my husband came home from rehab. The first measurement wasn't correct and they wouldn't install the chairlift unless it was correct. So, the reps went back to their warehouse and got the correct piece for that measurement. Then, they came back and they worked diligently. We had two options for electrical plugins. And one, I have to put on by a switch. So, they changed it around and put it on something else that just goes on automatically. They were in and out as fast as could be and they even helped me carry something down the stairs. I can’t say enough nice things about them.
The only little problem we have is the chairlift that’s going from my front door down to the basement. We screwed up the footrest and it doesn’t wanna work on the button. But it’s not a huge issue. We had a Stannah stairlift when we were living in Plymouth over a year ago. My husband was very sick with myasthenia gravis and he came back from rehab and could not walk. However, he only used it for three months when I was renting it. He got much worse and we had to leave, and he passed away in February. I was very satisfied with Stannah Stairlifts and it’s the only one that I know of that you can rent for six months. I’ve looked into three different companies, but you have to buy it. With Stannah, whatever you pay for the rent, which is half the price, would go towards the full price if you decide to buy it after six months. You also have the option to rent by the month, which is not a very good idea, or to buy it.
I have bad knees and I’m having knee surgery. I have a second floor, so I have to go downstairs for the laundry and to go outside. The stairs are killing me with my knees. I have bone on bone on both knees and the stairs are the pits. The interactions I had with the sales representatives, both in Plymouth and here, were excellent and the installers are very pleasant to work with. If I have any problems, they are right on it. It was just one guy and he was training another one, and he was an extremely good teacher. As a teacher myself, I picked that up very fast. It took him a little longer to install, but it didn’t matter to me and I paid the same.
I would tell my friends not to buy the stairlift if they are not sure if they wanna keep it and to just go with Stannah and rent. They can rent a secondhand one which is almost new. They can’t even tell that it’s secondhand and it’s half the price, so if they really look and do their homework, they can save a lot of money. Stannah is family-owned and they’ve been in business for almost 70 years, and they don't push you. I also had Acorn before and they were very pushy and aggravating and they kept calling even after I told them that I got another one. The people at Stannah don’t push you and they give you the options. They’re not aggravating people and they’re very nice to work with. No matter who the salesperson was, I had the same experience in both. They were really good.

They also didn’t leave until I understood how everything worked. And they said if I had any questions or especially when my father got home and wanted another demonstration, to call the salesperson.
There was one thing that the salesman didn’t bring to my attention though. They tell you how to swivel the chair and that’s all well and good when you’re healthy and you’re able to get up and down. But when you’re at a certain age and you’re using a walker or a cane to begin with, swiveling the chair is one thing. Getting up and then hanging on to something is another thing. My father is 91 and he just broke his hip. He uses a walker to begin with. It’s not easy for him to get up from that chair and just go. He has to hang on to something and I didn’t realize that myself when we were talking about it with the salesman. I might have to put a safety bar alongside the wall for him to grab on to when he lifts himself up. That's my concern but that's something we'll have to deal with and that aside, everything went well.

And both the gentleman who sold it to us and the gentleman that installed it were delightful people. They did a very good job.

Stannah was fantastic. I couldn't be any happier with them. The other one was Acorn. I inquired online and they harassed the hell out of me. They were calling me 50 million times a day, not leaving messages and leaving messages. It annoyed so much that I decided not to go through with them. On the other hand, when I contacted Stannah, they were out within a week and had everything done. They did a fantastic job installing, explaining and following up with us.
I have two little ankle-biter puppies so I kept them locked in my room with me while the technician was installing the stairlift. It was as quiet as it could have possibly been and it was done in a timely manner. I expected an all-day affair but it was done relatively quickly. The technician also explained to more than one of us how to move with care. He answered the questions we had and gave us a little magnet thing for the fridge in case we have a problem, which we did. We couldn't figure out something and when we called them, they answered the question and it was fixed right away. It was great. A wider staircase would have been better for me because when the stairlift stops at the top, there's not a lot of leeway there for anybody who is trying to go by. But the stairlift itself is fantastic. I don't have any complaints about quality or durability so far.

I had a good experience with Stannah Stairlifts and the person I dealt with was good. The stairlift we got from them was for my husband and myself. The reps were fine and knew everything about the stairlift. We had a lovely experience with them. The installation team was very good. I had to call the dealer that we purchased the stairlift from and they were very good on the service call. They answered our question and were able to help us over the telephone, and we got the stairlift to function again, although it had not stopped working. But now, they may have to come over because I'll discuss it with them. We are going to call them to take care of something that we think is the matter with the stairlift.
Other than that, the stairlift is doing its job exactly as we had wanted. Right now, we're very pleased at not having to step down steps and having our knees scream at us for help. Our Stannah stairlift is wonderful and it's adding a few years to our life. I would recommend it. We're telling our friends how happy we are and glad that we got the stairlift after our sons had tried to get us to do it for three years. They were insisting on it, so we gave in and it worked out well.

The Stannah stairlift looked like a nice piece of equipment and I needed it for my husband. He was coming home from the hospital and the salesperson got me an earlier appointment. He did everything he could and was excellent. The installation was a four-hour commitment and the team was excellent. We have a straight rail and everything worked out fine with the stairlift. The people we dealt with at Stannah were very nice and I was very happy. The product is also a very good system and we enjoy it. It's convenient. If we didn’t have that, my husband couldn’t walk up the stairs. I’m really satisfied with it.

My husband is ill so we got a stairlift. I researched a little online and Stannah was the first stairlift provider that caught my eye. The sales rep was really good and he explained that we could rent the stairlift as opposed to buying it if we thought it would be short-term use. That made sense to us because my husband has terminal cancer, so that's what we did. Stannah told us ahead of time how long the installation would take. They also told us what we needed to set it up as far as the electrical and that they could provide that if we didn't have it. Then a young man came one day and put the stairlift in. He was clean and fast, and he explained how to use it.
The quality of our stairlift is really good and I definitely recommend it. It's much more than I expected. It's nice that it's so portable that we can put the arms up because it's on the stairway and I walk up and down the stairs, so even if he's on a different floor I can still use the stairs without it being a hassle. In addition, the cost was fair and the service was great.

Considering our age and looking at the price wasn’t gonna go down, we decided we might as well get a stairlift right then. We were planning ahead and I went out and got estimates. Stannah had a very solid product and gave me the better value for my money. I was also fortunate in that I happen to know somebody who had this brand so I could actually go there and see it. The person that I dealt with at Stannah was also very specific about the product and the process of installation. So we had a very good idea of what we were getting before we got it.
The installers were very helpful in explaining what they were doing and why they were doing it. The end product of the installation is somewhat intrusive just by the nature of it. But they made it as unintrusive as they could in the way the track is installed. Plus if we have guests, we can send the stairlift by remote up to the top. So the chair itself is not taking up space. Stannah was expensive and the price could have been cheaper. But we’re happy with it all the way around. At this point, we feel that it’s a very solid piece of machinery. In fact, I have recommended Stannah to others. They were very good and they did exactly what they said they could do.

Stannah Stairlifts has been in business for a long time and they were very prompt about getting me a quotation. It was very interesting though because one of the things that I was not happy about and I considered a black mark against them was they did not have anybody local in my area. But I found out in my checking around that there are a few fly-by-night operations that are guys who must be working out of their garage. The stairlift is a kind of a device that you don’t want a company or an installer that’s not doing it so often. It turned out that a friend of mine has an Acorn at his house in Queens and has been having a hard time getting somebody to service it.
One of the companies that I considered came very promptly and did whatever they do, but it took them eight days to get me a quote. I was in business long enough that I could smell the problems between the lines. However, Stannah was very prompt in calling back. There was also a person answering the phone, not an answering machine, and I got the quotation immediately after they arrived. They were prompt in all the areas. Their guy showed up early for the look-see and showed up early for the installation. You can’t go wrong with those.
We had a straight stairlift installed and we have a wide enough staircase that, with this chair and everything down, we can still walk by it. The only thing that I don’t care for so much is the vinyl seat covering. It has come off twice. It was not very well-designed and it would be nice if that was improved in some way. The color fits right in because our colors happen to be close to the unit’s color. The installer did a very nice job installing the stairlift and did a very thorough coverage of the things to look out for, and I was pleased. I was interested that the unit had a rack-and-pinion drive instead of a worm drive, but since it has a sectional track, it makes slightly different noises at different sections of the track. There is something not perfectly aligned, but it seems to be running fine. It has gone up and down at least 20 times.
The Stannah stairlift has allowed my wife to go back upstairs again. We have a master suite upstairs and for a while, she was unable to do the stairs and we had moved into our guest room down below. She wanted to get back upstairs and the stairlift has allowed us to stay in our home. I have not needed a service call and that’s the only place where I had questions since they don’t have a local office, but since the fellow who came to do the measuring and the fellow who did the install were early, it gave me a bit of good feeling about them showing up if I have a service issue. The other issue for me is we have power outages much more regularly than anywhere else and the battery thing isn’t a good piece of the design of the unit. Still, Stannah has been doing the chairlifts longer than anybody else and they’re pretty together. I thought Stannah was the best and, so far, I have not been disappointed.

We have had a Stannah stairlift for about 18 years. Towards the end, we had a few issues but we had no complaints with it at all. We ordered a new one about three months ago. We didn't even look elsewhere because we loved our other one. We took a unit out on a six-month rental and then we were gonna buy it after the six months. The man who came and sold it to us was very nice. They were very cooperative and everything was wonderful.
However, this unit is absolutely nothing like the other one I had! First of all, the stairlift is made with what appears to be rinky-dinky plastic. The seat before was somewhat cushioned but with this one, there's no cushioning at all. Fat people are not the only ones that use these. A lot of these things are used by people with diseases. My husband has multiple sclerosis and if you have a neurological disease, most of the time, your body starts breaking down after a while. My husband can't sit on this thing that's as hard as a rock. What they call a cushion is not even for a baby. Never mind somebody who doesn't have any meat on their behind anymore. We had a home health aide here last week and he wanted to take my husband upstairs for a shower. But my husband said he would rather be washed up because he can't sit on that seat.
Number two, Stannah has also shortened the part that you rest your foot on. Before, you were almost at a 90-degree angle when you sat on the chair. Now, you almost have to tuck your feet under. If you're paralyzed, things like that are very difficult. Number three, the seat before was a nice, heavy-duty seat. When you put it up and you weren't using the stair glider, it stayed up. This thing here keeps falling down. These are major issues. What I'm complaining about is the overall comfort and configuration of the chair for a handicapped person. The motor might be good but the concept of it is nowhere near what it used to be. The other one that I had was comfortable. It was well-made and it didn't have all this plastic. For people who are handicapped, it's useless. This one is definitely made much cheaper and yet, it's $1000 more than it was. I definitely would not buy them first off, not for the comfort.

They answered all our questions and were very clean. We got the curved stairlift and my mother-in-law loves that it goes off all three floors really quickly. It also looks very sturdy compared to the other models that I had looked at with the other company. The craftsmanship on this one really looked like it was a good quality. I would definitely recommend Stannah.

My mother-in-law has moved in with us and we sensed a stairlift was gonna be needed. I looked at Stannah's website and saw what they offered. The salesman did a great job. He came to the house, spent about an hour with us, and went over a lot of information with us. He was really good with my mother-in-law and myself. He measured some stuff ahead of time and said what the issues we might need to address if we decide to go with Stannah. He said we have to have an outlet put in over at a certain area and I said that there’s an outlet on one side of the stairwell. So he said the installers would figure it out and tuck it away.
He also took the time to go over everything with us and let us asked every question no matter what it was about. He was so funny too and I really liked him. But we didn’t seal the deal until I took my mother-in-law to the office in Franklin, to have her sit at the chair, look at them so she would have an idea what we were getting into. We lived in the next town over Franklin, MA which comes in handy in case something goes wrong.
I was present only when the installers first came and then I had to leave. But my mother-in-law said that they were great and in the short period of time that I had with them, I explained where the battery was gonna go. They said that they would make it all nice and seamless. They put cover on the wire and did a fantastic job. I’m very pleased with the installation. They were also very nice and receptive. One even said that they might have to drill against the rug and might pull it.
We tested the stairlift a couple of times once it was installed while they were here. When my husband rode it, it stopped at the top and something had shorted out. So while the guys were here, they fixed it right away and since then, we had no issues. We got a curved stairlift and so far, I’m very pleased with it. My mother-in-law has her own space in the basement wherein she has everything like a full bath and a kitchen. So the stairlift was for a basement stairway which is a bit narrower than a typical stairway with just so many steps, then a landing, and then three more steps. The remote is a nice feature at the top and bottom of the stairs. When the chair is curled, wrapped around, out of the way, everybody could come in and out. However, we wouldn't be able to move furniture in and out that way. We have to go up to the bulkhead.
In general, it has worked great and seems very durable. Even the physical therapist who comes to help my mother-in-law was totally impressed with it. And she sees quite a few ‘cause she has a clientele of the older group as well. The stairlift costs $11,400 which is pretty expensive, but if it does the job and the quality stays as good as it has been so far, I see it as a good investment.
We actually had to start using it a lot sooner than we thought so the timing was pretty good. The stairlift had a positive impact on my mother-in-law because she had a couple of weeks wherein she had serious knee pain and getting up and down the stairs was tough. And there was one point where she actually couldn’t even walk to the chairlift. We had to carry her to it. So in that extreme situation, it was a Godsend that we had it. It has also alleviated her work to get up the stairs, therefore making her probably more like, “Okay. Yeah, we can go ‘cause I have that to get me up to the main level.”
I’ve recommended Stannah Stairlifts to another person who told me some very surprising things from another top-selling chairlift company. They came to her house to give her an assessment and a quote. She told me some information that the other chairlift company told her and I was in shock. They didn’t mention to her about a battery pack, which they offer, and said that if she loses power, she should look in to getting a generator. I said that the stairlifts run on batteries. I also said, “You leave the chair on. It charges all the time. If you lose power, you’ll have multiple trips up and down the stairs. The battery lasts plenty of times for that.” So I said she has to go with Stannah because they'd come out and explain everything to her and have every answer for her questions and she could buzz over to the next town over 'cause she was in a town also very close to Franklin

He discussed the fact that they were the only manufacturer in the industry that manufactures as well as install the products. He took his time and he was very thorough and he explained everything. Also, the price was right.
Then, the installers came and they were awesome. They demonstrated how to operate it. We had a curved custom stairlift installed and it's huge. The rails look like something from a rollercoaster in an amusement park, but it works just fine. Where my sister lives, she gets off of the chair on the landing and switches to a different chair on the stairlift but she doesn't have to that with Stannah's and she really likes that. They were also very neat about the job. They brought all the package materials out of the house when they left. It was excellent. We have them installed a curved stairlift and it fits a little tight in our home. But it’s an old house so the stairs are not wide and the Stannah people explained that to us when they came in and measured.
I like the utility of the stairlift. It’s doing exactly what they told us it would be. We’ve only had it for a short while but we haven’t had any problems with the use of it. It’s very easy to use and the mechanics of it, for what we have to use, are very simple. It was expensive, and I know that there are other systems that are cheaper. But Stannah had good reviews. The installation team did a good job and did it quickly. I like that Stannah stairlift facilitates my wife in getting up and down the stairs by herself without having to have manual assistance. It has made her somewhat more independent, and that leaves me free to do other things like cutting the grass.
10 days ago, I gave a call to the salesperson and pointed out to him that there were a couple of minor defects that were not significant but it was something that they should know about so that they could correct it and they wouldn’t have people being bothered by it in the future. The pad on the seat had poor stitching and did not have any way to be secured to the structure of the seat itself, something that could be easily solved with a couple of Velcro attachments. He indicated to me that he would get back to somebody in the company and that I would hear from them. That was quite a while ago and I have not heard from them. Then she came over, examined everything, laid out the options, and gave me pricing. She also followed up with me while I looked at the competitor and decided to go with Stannah. Then she called me multiple times to confirm installation. They were more informed and had better service. The quality of the straight stairlift is very good and I like the battery back-up. However, it doesn't leave a lot of room left for other things. It would be a little tight if you had to carry groceries or stuff and you couldn't walk down alongside it.
My parent passed away and never got a chance to use the Stannah Stairlift. The rep coordinated with me when I had it removed. But when I went to see if there was a way for me to get a credit, the rebate policy was absolutely horrendous. I spent about $7,500, and it was never used not even a month later. But I was only able to get 30% of my money back. I would highly recommend Stannah Stairlift to people whose parents were generally healthy and might be around to use it for a year. Stannah has a showroom that has all the different stairlifts lined up and I narrowed it down to a couple of them before I even went there. Once I physically saw and touched it, and rode on the different ones, I got a feel for it and that was very convincing. Going there made a difference because the Stannah stairlift cost a bit more money than the others and I was pretty much set on the other one that was less expensive. The gentleman I dealt with wasn’t high pressure and we had a lot of things in common. He understood the business and what he said was what happened as far as installation.
I got the Siena 600 straight stairlift and it didn’t make as much as noise as I thought it might. It also folds up closer to the wall than I anticipated. I thought it was gonna be more intrusive than it is. It makes it easy to go up and down the stairs and it impacts my wife more than it does me because she does it more than I do. Our garage is under the house so any time we go shopping or to laundry, it’s downstairs. The stairway that they put in goes from the basement to the first floor. Once you get to the first floor, everything is on that one floor but you have to enter the house from the cellar.
It annoys me though that the remote controls are VHF. You have to have a minimum of stairwell and it has to be aimed right at the chair to make it work. The buttons are installed on the outside and I didn’t wanna have to go into the stairwell to push buttons to make the thing work. The remote won’t work unless you have it in the side there, so I have to take it out, hold it in my hand, aim it up the thing, and wait for it go up and down. It could have been solved with a different type of frequency such as that of the television remote. You don’t have to aim it at the TV anymore. As long as it’s in that room that you’re in, it changes the station. When you’re paying the extra money above what competition was, that was a feature that they should have.
The chair that I got is not the top-of-the-line. It’s a middle one and the handles that you pull to swivel it to the left and to the right is just a little stick. For the money, it could’ve had hand grips on it that would make it a little bit more appealing. When I called about it yesterday, they said that for $700, I can get another option. I’m not paying another $700 to have a better handgrip on the handle. It’s just not that big a thing. I’ve been trying to buy some to see if I could put them on but the pipe is less than half an inch so that it’s very small. I went to some fabricators and they could very easily make them to fit that bar and they’re less than a buck. For an extra buck, you could have a handgrip that would look half decent and be easy to use. So, they should have investigated that.

I broke my hip and I decided to purchase a stairlift. Stannah seemed to be the best option financially and they could do it right away. My wife called them on a Monday and they installed the stairlift that Friday, while I was still under rehab. She also said that the installer was here for 5 hours and he really took the time to install it. The quality of the stairlift is really great and using it has been life-changing for me. I’m glad we did it. It surpassed my expectation and I would absolutely recommend the Stannah Stairlift.

I purchased a stairlift for my daughter who was disabled and after she died, her family gave it back to me. When Stannah Stairlifts came to take the measurements for my stairs, everything was very well done and they were very helpful. Also, the installer just kept working and when he was finished, he let me know. The installation was completed in at least half a day. I use the stairlift now as a dumbwaiter on my cellar stairs. I also use it sometimes when I have a sprain. I noticed lately though that the footrest seems to be not solidly put together. When I put it in the upright position, I could see a gap at the top and the bottom. A screw is missing to hold it together. But I'm very happy with the stairlift and I would definitely recommend Stannah.

I had knee replacement and it didn't work well. I couldn't go upstairs so I got a stairlift from Stannah because it's local. My wife just went over to their office and spoke to them. They told her what they had and how they could put it in. We got a straight, indoor stairlift. It's in a public hall. We're on a house with apartments and we live on the second floor, so it's outside the house. My wife dealt with the salesman who was very nice and explained everything to her. He put an outlet on the first floor and explained to her how it wouldn't make too much damage on the stairs. I can now sit and get up and down the stairs easily. We have a room downstairs we use too, so I can get down into there.

I just moved and I wanted access to the basement and enjoy the full capacity of the household, it's just that I have physical disabilities. I saw Stannah on the internet and it looked like it was a good description so I said I’ll go with it. Everybody was great and thorough. The salesperson that came was very compassionate and explained everything. Then the guy that installed was Christian as we had a whole uplifting talk ‘cause we’re Christian too, so it was nice.
I like the fact that the straight stairlift affords me the ability and mobility to get up and down and to enjoy the house. The chair is wide and comfortable enough, and so it works well. Sometimes I think that it should go faster but I guess for safety reasons, it goes the pace that it goes. Everything is cool, it’s very useful and helpful. My mom is 87 too and she walks with a walker so we can even put her on there and she can get up and down if she wants to.
I only wish I would have waited until I thought things through because I have some people trying to make a bathroom and do different things down in the basement. The people have to go over to the stair to try to get equipment through. The guy from Sears that was delivering a new washer and dryer looked at the stairlift and he was making a face. The technicians are not supposed to lift anything higher than their waist, but I have these guys that are strong so they’ll lift it up over their shoulders if they have to. I understand that it’s something like $150 to have the stairlift disassembled temporarily through the company. Also, I saw other products that seemed much cheaper although I didn’t know what the quality was. But I’m satisfied with how Stannah is working and the money was well spent.

My husband has to walk with a walker and Stannah Stairlifts came to my mind so I called. Their sales rep was great. She explained everything to me. We got an indoor stairlift that goes up straight and then turns around at the top of the stair and at the bottom. It fits great in the stairwell. My husband thinks it works great and that’s how he gets upstairs. We bought a refurbished one and my husband had to call three times for a service on it but their reps came out right away and took care of the problem. In fact, the last time, they changed all the circuit boards so I got almost a brand-new piece of equipment. What happened was almost like fine tuning wherein they’d send a new guy out, then they’d send another guy out, and then they sent the guy out that knows everything, and he took care of everything. They were great about coming out and doing the fix right away.

I was having some serious back problems, so I purchased a stairlift. I saw the ad and I read about it, and then I looked at others. I liked what the Stannah ad said in the guarantees, however, the price was high. The salesman did not push and he just told the facts. The installation of my straight stairlift went fine, too. It took the man a couple of hours to do it. The fact that I do not have to run up and down the stairs is helping me. This is the first time I live in a townhouse and it took me a year to get used to the stairs, because every other house I lived in, even when I lived with my folks, they were one-floor ranchers. My den is upstairs, as well as my washing machine and dryer, so I would use the stairs more than the average person.

The Stannah chairlift is overpriced, but it is the only one that has the power swivel. I could’ve bought a similar one for $2,700 and I even liked the chair from their competition, but they didn’t have the power swivel. When the visiting nurse and physical therapist came over, I showed them the Stannah chairlift and told them that we paid 30% more than what we could afford because of the power swivel. And the physical therapist said that this was probably the only safe one because, on a lot of her clients’ homes, the person living with them that would use a chairlift would have to pick it up and down, otherwise they could fall down the stairs and cause a severe accident. I also like that the rail on the Stannah chairlift is protected which makes it a nice unit. I have dogs and a lot of dog hair. With the other chairlift brand, I know that they can get a lot of dog hair in it because it doesn't have a cover over the rail.
The salesman that came to the home was above personable. He was a typical salesman who knew the right things to say, but he was very nice. And the person that installed the chairlift was extremely nice, as well. I thought a curved chairlift would work but with the way the house was constructed, it would walk down the stairs and be in the way. My husband has wheelchairs, walkers, and a transport chair. And it would not be easy for him to access a curved one. We have the straight chairlift instead and it is perfect for the application.
In the beginning, I didn’t think the Stannah chairlift is well worth the money, but I do now. I am thrilled with it and it has been a godsend. I recommend it to other people that are looking at chairlift. I also told people if they wanted to see mine, they could come to my house and look at it before they would let one of the other chairlift companies to come in.

The Stannah Stairlifts sales rep was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was a previous installer and had the credibility. He just presented the product and didn’t try to sell us anything. But the installation was difficult because the product line suddenly changed and not everybody was up to speed about it. So, it extended the installation, but the techs were wonderful and they did the best they could with the product.
The stairlift seemed to make a lot of noise. Suddenly, it was jumpy in the gearing and the bending of the rails was not proper. We said that to the people and they came out, checked it, re-measured, and then went back and discussed it. They then decided to remake the whole system and re-install it. So, I’m extremely happy with the way they stand behind their product. On the other hand, it would have been nice to get it right the first time. But overall, they did a good job and everybody we interfaced with was very professional, knowledgeable, hardworking, and cooperative. Stannah is a solid company.

I got a couple of recommendations on stairlift brands and Stannah was by far the most affordable. Also, we didn’t need to purchase a stairlift and Stannah was the only one that was willing to lease it. The lady who came in was very accommodating and we got the six months' lease. The product looks new and we've had no troubles with it. We have a straight wide staircase so the stairlift was a perfect fit for us. My mom lives here and we can't bring her up and down the stairs so the stairlift has been great. But the back of the chair that's like a piece of plastic was not flush and my mom scratched the back of her leg on it. It may be because she's on a blood thinner but it looked like a blood bath upstairs in the bathroom. Other than my mom, older people also have sensitive skin and it can be easy to cut. We used a material like the soft side of the Velcro though. We put that right around the edge of that part and we haven't had any trouble since.

I didn’t have many stairlift companies to choose from and I found problems with the other companies so I got down to Stannah. All the companies seem very remote from where I was and the only brand that I’ve ever heard of was Acorn ‘cause it advertises all the time. But with the other brands, I searched on the internet. I ended up with Stannah by default and part of it was the price. They were better priced than others but then, they were much higher than others too. But they gave me a reason to believe why they were so expensive, and it's because it's a curved stairlift, but I’m still having difficulty believing that.
Stannah's sales rep was too high pressure for me and that made me go out and looked around. But then when I got back to Stannah, I didn’t deal with the same guy. It was much better and I ended up liking him. The installers were excellent and it took them three hours to install, which was quicker. The stairlift fits okay into the stairwell and seems to be all right, but I don't use it that much. I get on and off the stairlift differently than the way I thought it was gonna be. I thought it was just gonna be parallel. I realized after I’ve got the stairlift that when I was at the top of the stairlift and then going into the basement, it would be at an angle because I wasn’t strong enough to pull it around straight. And then I said, “Well, that’s the way it’s supposed to be,” which I didn’t believe at first but then I ended up believing it.

My husband got meningitis and he can’t walk. Our house has three flights of stairs to get to our second-floor apartment so we are renting three Stannah stairlifts. I liked their rental agreement with the option to buy back the stairlifts after we are done with them or if we decide to sell the house. Their price was good too. The salesperson was responsive and offered the best advice. Stannah helped assess my whole property. They helped look around to see if there were other options that we could use and they were not quick to tell us to get three stairlifts which were a lot.
We were gonna get two Stannah stairlifts and a “walking wheelchair” since we have three flights of stairs and one empty side into the street but Stannah would not install the walking wheelchair unless we had a permit from the city that it empties onto a proper sidewalk. A guy recommended me to take a picture of a potted plant at the bottom of the stairs and go to the city with the picture so they would give me a temporary permit for the installation. The city gave us the permit and we were able to just do Stannah stairlift instead of getting the ridiculous walking wheelchair which we really didn’t wanna purchase. It was more expensive.
I mainly worked with the guy named Tony and he was very personable. He came and did the measurements but he made one wrong measurement so the installation was delayed one day but it was quickly corrected. They came out and did it by the time my husband came home so all was good. The installers hustled and made sure that it was good. They were professional and did their job.
Also, an electrical cord had to be buried underground for one of the stairlifts outside. They did it in sections and Tony told me to buy some PVC piping at Home Depot. But when one of the guys came out to do one of the sections, the guy told me to instead call an electrician and have him do it. It was something that should have been recommended at the get-go. It took a bit of finagling to get an electrician out quickly in the summertime but I got them and everything worked out fine. The stairlifts fit in our very narrow staircases and they work great. The installers were also able to demonstrate it multiple times. My husband wasn’t home yet but the physical therapist got here and we practiced. I had a very positive experience with Stannah Stairlifts.

It’s not obstructing anything when it’s parked up on the main floor or downstairs in the basement. It has a nice-looking seat. Also, it's safe and very sturdy.
I have a lot of nerve damage in both my legs and I have a lot of trouble walking. My house is bi-level so it's 18 steps coming up from the street and another 5 more stairs after I get in. My 95-year-old mother was gonna be released from rehab within about a 10-day timeframe. I spoke to a couple of different stairlift companies and the first one that I called could not guarantee that they could do the installation on time. I then called Stannah and their representative indicated to me that they could more than likely get it done on time. I arranged to have somebody come out to the house to do a physical inspection and they quoted me prices. We were in a bit of an emergency situation and it was one of those situations where it was definitely a seller’s market. I just agreed to do it. I was also told that I have six months to make the decision whether we're gonna ultimately purchase the stairlift or we're gonna rent it.
However, we had one horrible incident on a Friday afternoon. The stairlift got stuck halfway up the stairs. When I called Stannah, I got an answering service. Unfortunately, the person who answered seemed totally unaware, in spite of the fact that she was staring at a computer screen, that there was an emergency number that could be called and that since it was a weekend, I might have to pay for the service. But under the circumstances, I would've paid anything because my mother was stuck halfway up the stairs. It would have been nearly impossible to get her out of that stairwell. I spoke to somebody up at the Massachusetts location and they informed me about the emergency number. They were horrified that I didn’t get the correct information from the answering service. I never heard back from them again either. But we haven't had a problem since a representative came out on Monday. Everything seems to be under control now.

Our elderly mother fell down the stairs and we wanted to put a chairlift in there to make it easier for her to get up and down the stairs without actually walking it. The reps at Stannah were informative, nice, and helpful. They explained some of the uniqueness of our particular staircase and some of the options that were available if we wanted them. Then, the installation went exactly the way they said it would. It took a couple of hours in the morning to install the indoor straight stairlift and it was done by noontime.
Once it was installed, the installer showed me all the remotes and the different buttons on the chair and how to put the footrest up. So, I know how to use it and my brothers and sisters also know how to use it. Once in a while, our mother may need a little help. She knows how to sit down and push the button on the right armrest in the direction she has to go, but she is not too good at pulling the lever that allows the chair to swivel. At this point, we're on a rental agreement with Stannah and when the six months is up, we'll make our decision where we go from there. So far, it's been a struggle to convince our mother to use the stairlift. She is very stubborn and keeps on saying that she doesn't need that. But she knows that it is there for her and all of us are constantly reminding her that she has gotta use the stairlift. Other than that, our experience with Stannah has been fine.

The Stannah stair lift is a first class product with a first class operation. My wife had been going through a difficult time. She had a number of serial hospitalizations. She also had been having gait and balance issues and had some falls. So, I decided to purchase a stair lift. Stannah Stairlifts seemed more of a first class company. The sales person who I worked with had something to do with my decision to go with them, as well as the reviews that I had read. There was even one company that had more, but I was impressed with what I saw about Stannah being a professional and quality organization.
Edwin, the rep who I spoke with, was professional. He was certainly very pleasant. I didn’t have to pressure him to get the information and full disclosure about all the aspects of the product and the coverage. He was very open and easy to talk to, and he listened. Then we also went to the showroom and that was an important part of our decision-making. My wife was able to try out the product and there were a couple of products there in the showroom. I wanted to make sure that that would work for her and the other companies didn’t have that option. That was certainly an additional plus. We got the straight stair lift and the top-of-the-line in terms of the extra features in the stairwell. It electronically turns the swivel. Also, the installation person was very pleasant, helpful, and worked with me, making certain adjustments in terms of the remote control unit.
We got the stair lift between my wife's second and third hospitalization. But finally, when she came home after her last and the most recent hospitalization, which was the beginning of June, that was really when she began to use the stair lift the most. It was very important because obviously, she gained access to our upper level in the house where our bedroom is. It was much better than just being a captive downstairs and with everything that goes along with that, but the story has an ironic twist to it because within a month after she came home the last time, her condition improved profoundly in a lot of ways and she doesn’t need the stair lift any longer. It has been quite a miracle.

When we got the stairlift installed and then I looked at it, I realized that the way the stair lift was didn't make sense because if it came down the stairs, it's going to the kitchen or the dining room. The stairlift is on the right side when it comes down but then my father has to get up, close it, and push it back up to get it to the kitchen which is very difficult. It should have been put on the other side, and that should have been discussed initially. Another issue that we had was the option discussion of an automatic swivel. I'm having them come back two weeks from now to put this automatic swivel and perhaps it will make it functionally much easier for him to use.
The salesman should have discussed the options, what happens, and how it works. I never really knew about the automatic swivel until after. The installation team did what they were supposed to. They had to come back to move the stairlift from one side to the other side. When I called to have them move the stairlift from one side to the other, I also mentioned to talk about any automatic swivel but somehow that wasn't communicated to the staff so they weren't prepared for that. Other than that, Stannah's product seems to be very good.

I needed a hip replacement operation so I decided to purchase a Stannah Stairlift. My interaction with their sales rep was good. We had a choice to buy it outright or put a down payment on it and see if we like it. We knew that we didn't have to pay outright and we're six months in advance. If we didn't like it then we could have it taken away. We had a straight stairlift installed and it fit very good. The installation was great. The installer came on time, put it in and explained to us how to use it.
The cost is on the high side but the quality is good. We have a bedroom on the second floor but we're downstairs a lot using the living room, kitchen and the other room. And when it's time to go to the bedroom, the chair is quiet but a bit on the slow slide. It does its job like it's supposed to. I just wish it was a bit faster. I'd tell others to definitely go with Stannah Stairlifts. So far, my life has been very good. I used to struggle to get up the stairs. Now, I just ride up and down, and I like that very much. My left hip hurts but with the stairlift, I have less pain.

My daughter is totally paralyzed and cannot bear weight. We’ve looked at four vendors and Stannah was the only one that had the lateral transferability. The others were more for persons who could stand and move their bum to a position to be seated and she could not. So, this made it work. The sales visit went well. The people were knowledgeable enough that we could figure it out. We did a follow-up and as we got closer, we went to the company to see the product because they did not have the seats that they bring out with them. So, we needed to go a couple of hours to drive to their place and check it out. We did so and realized that it would work.
I was working out of state when the stairlift was installed. So my wife handled that. But I did not have any problems and they did it all in one day. It was pretty flawless in getting it going. So far, while the quality of the stairlift is good, we can’t get it down to the first floor with the remote. It's not calling it down. And if my daughter were ever home alone, you gotta get up and ride it down to bring it down and so she can’t do that. Other than that, we're thrilled to have it and it’s working. It is a good product and we hope it lasts for years.

We did some research online and talked with some people that had gotten stairlifts. We also had four people come to the house and give us plans and estimates, and though Stannah was not the cheapest, it was the best. The sales rep gave us a lot of information. We had been told by three other salespeople that the chair had to go up facing the stairs on the left side, and that would’ve been quite costly and very inconvenient as this is an old house. Stannah was able to put it on the right side and it is a great design. The installers were here a little shorter time than they estimated, and they were very neat, helpful, efficient and they explained what they were doing. Our stairlift is curved and the quality is excellent. I'm very happy with it. The only problem is my husband is not very tall, and in the beginning, he didn’t like the fact that the seat seemed a little high.

I have a Stannah stairlift in Connecticut and then, I got a second one which is here in Rhode Island. I had several stairlift companies interviewed, but Stannah Stairlifts was the one who could do the best stuff. I've had the first one for two and a half years. It's a double one and it goes up to the third floor. I've had the brand new one this year and it only goes to the second floor.
The reps at Stannah were fun. They came out and did a drawing and showed me the colors of things to pick and explained all about it. Stannah's workmanship was perfect. The installers put in the stairlifts and it looked good, and they cleaned up after. Once, I had a minor problem with my stairlift in Connecticut and I had somebody out there in 36 hours, and they fixed it right away. I like the fact that the stairlifts have a power pack, so we don't get stuck if there is no electricity. I have already mentioned Stannah to several people.

The installer spent the morning here and put it together. It’s a straight stairlift and the quality is fine. However, it gives me trouble sometimes when I’m on the way down. The stairlift gets stuck somewhere in between and I have to go back up again. I then resume and it goes back down again. But my overall experience with Stannah was a good one. It’s a great thing to do when you have the same kind of problem as mine.

We met up and they wanted to know our concerns. They weren't pushy at all and they kinda discussed what the issues were gonna be, where we would lose a little bit of space in our stairs and that type of thing. So, it was a pleasant experience.
We got the curved stairlift and it's a good fit for our stairwell. It does exactly what we wanted it to do. When it was installed, their team called ahead and let us know when they were gonna be here. And they came at that time and they took care of it. So, it was a very smooth installation. They also showed my mother all the parking spots as well as what to do and what not to do. They were very thorough.

The rep came out, told us about the situation and explained everything to us. We made a downpayment at that time and then when we got everything ready in the house we were living in, we contacted them again. We needed to put in an electrical switch and put a platform in, and they came out within a week once we got everything set up. We were very pleased with the way the tech installed everything and the conscientious way that he did his work. He was very good at letting us try it all out and in answering a lot of questions so we felt very confident when he left that we would be able to handle everything.
Our stair lift is straight and it's an interior one. We happen to have a nice wide stairway and it works very well. It's made going up and down considerably easier for both of us. It also looks first class. We put a lot of money down but it was a good investment, and we know that if we need to take it out of this home, it could be removed and we would get some compensation. They were great to deal with from start to finish and any questions I had, they always followed up. The installation of the stairlift went great, smooth and easy. We didn’t even know that any work was done at all. It went into the carpet so there was no drilling in the walls.
We have the curved stairlift which goes up the stairs from the first floor of my apartment and it fits perfectly into the home. I like that there is a safety feature in the stairlift when it gets to the top. The way it turns, it blocks the stairway, so if you lose your balance, you wouldn’t fall back down the stairs. Everybody from sales to customer service was wonderful. I bought a curved stairlift from Stannah Stairlift mainly because of the company's reputation but during the sales visit, I was told that our stair rail was on the blueprint and that it will remain in place. At no time during that process did I get a copy of that blueprint. I had the chair rail removed prior to the installation so when the installation was made, the chairlift was installed away from the wall, which means that I can’t really use it the way it is now because it’s too close to the wall on the other side. The gentleman who measured it should have taken that into consideration but he didn’t. Now I’m being charged an additional $1,500 to have the chair rail moved. That's not fair and it’s almost fraud because I was not told that the chair rail would remain on that wall or I would have told them that I was going to have that chair rail removed so they have to adjust their measurements.

We have a three-story condo. I'm 80 and my wife is 77. When we bought the condo, we were healthy and fit. But then, I had a terrible spinal disease and had operations in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. I also ruptured my knees and I had to have those put back together and I'm walking with a walker unsteadily. I can't do stairs with them. It also happens that I'm a psychiatrist who has an office on the bottom floor. But I can't run when the people come in and I didn't want to move. So my wife angrily said that we needed a stair rail. I knew of Stannah before and I had a patient whose wife had a tumor for a lot of years and she got along with them. In the last five years, she needed a chairlift and this patient is a mechanical engineer and he had vetted everybody and looked over the prints and I figured, if it's good enough for an avid trained mechanical engineer, it was good enough for me.
Stannah's sales rep was marvelous. His name was Tony and he had explained every step of the way with the cameras and the computers and the 3D drawings. I would have sooner bought from a fellow like him than from someone with a suit with a tie. And then Brad and Joe installed it flawlessly, not noticeably and it runs fine. The building was built in such a way that one rail goes from the bottom to the top. So, that was very curved around a lot of corners and landings but all we need is one chair so you don't have to get off or have to change. All in all, the Stannah stairlift is comfortable and easy. It also has a fair price. It's a proprietary product and well-made. It's made in the shop, so there's no mess. Most of all, it solves the problems we have.

A physical therapist gave me the name of Stannah Stairlifts, so we went with them and we had two indoor chair lifts installed. I called Stannah and a woman rep, Michelle, came to my house. She looked at the property and she was quite helpful. But we had some back-and-forth in scheduling the installation date and it looked like there was some delay caused. Ultimately, however, the process was fairly seamless and very straightforward. Everyone was super helpful and very nice. A gentleman came and it took him five hours to install the two chair lifts. He was very friendly, nice and professional.
We got two refurbished or used chair lifts. The first one is good because we can control the footrest and the seat separately. That was what I was supposed to be getting for both chairs, but once they had been installed, what I didn't like was that with the second chair, the footrest and the seat must come down together, which makes it difficult for my mother to get onto this chair lift because she can’t walk very well. So, instead of being able to sit down and then put her feet on the footrest, she has to back in to the footrest, which was annoying. This chair is a bit older too and part of the casing fell off the first time we used it.
I mentioned all these to the salesperson and she said we could get someone out to change the chair. But that didn’t seem like a good use of anyone’s time, so I just put a piece of a plastic taping onto the console to deal with the problem. Also, I didn’t love the fact that they had to drill holes into our stairs to install the railing, but there was nothing that could be done about that. But other than that, the chair lifts we got are fine and we’re happy with them. It has only been a month or so since our chair lifts were installed and hopefully we won’t have any mechanical or operational issues for another six months. If things continue to be all right, we’d very likely recommend Stannah to someone else. Their chair lift seems to be a well-thought out and well-designed product, and the spacing is minimal.

I had some medical issues and needed a stairlift just to help get up and down the stairs. Stannah Stairlifts' sales reps were excellent and knowledgeable. I wish it would've come a little sooner. They said they'd put a rush in, but it would be something that has to be specifically designed. They gave me an estimate which was expensive, but they have a good reputation so we still went with them. They also said that sometimes we could get a chair that's been used before, but they couldn't guarantee if it would work perfectly fine. But that would've saved us maybe $300. They didn't lead me on and were completely honest.
When they came here, they were prepared. They unpacked everything and were familiar with stairs that had to be specifically designed. Then, they said it would take around two and a half hours to install the stairlift which was just about how much time it took. They made sure it worked and showed a few times its different features. One can hardly notice the stairlift when you walk into our house because the color of the pipes matches the woodwork. However, there ought to be some way for the remote that sends the lift up or down to say that it has reached its destination. My husband could only tell that the lift has made it down to the bottom of the run because he has good hearing.

I can't climb up and go downstairs. I have a heart and lung problem so when I move I can't breathe. I had another quote from a different provider and Stannah was the second one and I decided to go with them. But I was shocked at the expense. It was like three times the other one was. Also I got a curved stairlift and was a little disappointed. There was an existing railing on part of the stairs and they didn't remove that when they put the stairlift outside of the railing, so it narrowed the stairway even more. It still clears but I think they could have done a better engineering job.
They installed it fine and they had me sit in it and ride it down the stairs once. But they left no instructions on anything else about the chair. There was no demonstration whatsoever. And when I had my first service call this past Saturday, the rep explained to me but I didn't even know where the seatbelt was because it is hidden. I've had it maybe a week and I'm on oxygen. I was coming back up the stairs on the chair and it grabbed my oxygen’s header into the gears. It stopped the chair and cut of the oxygen and I panicked. But I managed to take the mask off and get another mask with another oxygen tank so that part of it was okay. And then I tried to get the header out from the gear. I cut it trying to pull it out. But I was deciding it was gonna stay right where it was.
So I went on the internet and noticed that they had 24/7 service. I called and was put on hold. I think the message said very busy and I was on hold for about 20 minutes and there was absolutely dead airspaces and no recording. There was not a sound and you would think you had been disconnected. And after about 20 minutes, I finally hung up and called back again and took the option of leaving a message for a call back.
Two hours later, I still haven't heard back from them so I went on the internet again and found another number and called for service. A woman did answer after a short period of time of five minutes. I told her my dilemma. I had a doctor's appointment on Monday, but I don't think I told her that. But she did tell me that the phone’s conversation would be recorded. I told her what the problem was and she said, ”They can have somebody out there Monday.” And I said, "Well, your ad says it should have service, even on Christmas day, 24/7. And she seemed irritated that I said that and she said, "Well, I said that wasn’t your only option.” And she said, "We'll have somebody call you back today."
A half an hour later Brad from Stannah called me and said he was on his was to Massachusetts for a call but he would come see on his way back. An hour later he called and he said it was gonna take him two hours to get back from Massachusetts and I said that was fine. At least he kept me updated. He came and he was very courteous, very nice and very knowledgeable. He unzipped the header from the gear and he said, "You're not the first one that did this."
The thing was brand new to me. I didn’t know how delicate it was as far as sucking up stuff. But he was here probably 45 minutes to one hour making some other adjustment, which I didn't understand. Because it was a brand new machine I figured if it needed adjustment it would have occurred when they installed it. So he finished and it worked fine. He tested it himself and then he said, “$225 please," And I was bound to have a heart attack. I said, "What?" And he said, "Well, it's Saturday and that's considered an emergency and you were told that there'd be a $225 fee." I said, "No I was I not told. But the phone call was recorded so you can go back and see that I was not told."
But what can you do then when he really repaired it so I wrote him a check for $225. And he went out to do it and he felt very bad that I haven't been told that. It was total shock to me. It was a brand new machine and within a week you have a problem because you're still so new using it with no instruction when it was installed. I thought I will have a minimal fee. But $225 to me was ridiculous! So I am not a happy camper with the company. As a whole they maybe fine but their customer philosophy is terrible. And I was so glad that they said that the phone was recorded. I hope it really is because they can check to verify the fact that I was never told of $200 or that a Saturday call was considered an emergency.
But Stannah kept me independent for a little bit longer. I live alone and I'm trying to stay as independent as possible. I live in a raised ground so this gets me down to the garage into my car and from the garage I can access the land level of the house so it works. The ride is also very smooth and very quiet. It appears to be made well. I got a refurnished one, so although they promised me a different chair and a different color upholstery, I didn't get that either but that's beside the point. The chair itself is a quality product and that portion of it I can certainly recommend to anybody. But I'd also tell others don't ever call them for service on a weekend.

My wife has severe arthritis as a problem and the stairlift that we had from another company finally broke after ten years. When she was walking up the stairs and I was sitting in the living room, reading a book, watching her go up was painful for me. We went out to the showroom in Westborough at end of October and my wife and I liked Stannah's units. I had to wait a bit to pick up some cash flow before I made an appointment with them. The gentleman that came out was named Rick. He was very professional, went over the details with me, took a look at the stairway, measured it quickly and gave me a figure. My wife and I talked it over, then we went ahead and put in the order.
It cost $8,000, which sounded a lot. Thank God, there was no sales tax. Their product is very nicely made and is imported from England where they're manufactured. Even the packaging was well done. The installation team unwrapped it on the lawn outside before they brought it in. They were quick, very professional and explained everything. They did a good job and were thorough about vacuuming the carpeting on the stairs. They took the old stairlift apart and took it out. It was something that I had actually installed myself and it took me considerably more time to put it up than it did for them to take it down. They installed a custom, curved, model 260 stairlift which we tested out and were contented.
The profile is a bit smaller than the other. The stair at the top is narrow and with the stairlift sitting in the normal position to go down, it interferes with me unless I breathe in and go in sideways, which is awkward. So, I use the remote control to turn the stairlift and lift it up and I have plenty of room. And then, I use the remote to turn it back, so the wife can jump right on it and then lets her off in the hallway. Both of us are much happier and much more comfortable with the Stannah stairlift. If there's any way other people could afford it, they should buy it as it could change their lives.

My husband and I are both getting older and my husband broke his hip in February and having trouble getting around. Our cars are in the garages which are down in the basement, so every time we go out that way, we have to go down a flight of stairs. We go up and down a lot carrying stuff and we want to stay in our house as long as possible, and a stairlift would be a good idea. Stannah Stairlifts has a good reputation, plus my best friend got a stairlift and she was very happy with it, so we got one, too. We got the indoor stairlift that goes down the basement stairs and at the bottom, it goes around the corner.
The representative from Stannah was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. And I've had an excellent interaction with the installation team. They were very conscientious, courteous and they cleaned up after themselves. They even helped me move a branch out of my driveway. They explained the basics and told us that we can call them anytime If we have any questions, problems, or adjustments.
I really like that the stairlift turns when we reach the top because otherwise, it would be very difficult to get out of it. When it comes up the stairs and reaches the top hallway landing, it turns so that we can get out of it safely. It fits very well in the stairway and there's plenty of room. I'm very satisfied with Stannah. It has made a world of difference. I told my husband that I'm so glad we decided on this. It was a lot of money and we're both on social security, but it made such a difference for both of us in our day-to-day activities. It's very helpful.

We went with Stannah Stairlifts as they had very good reviews on a particular site where I found all the same complaints I had with the previous company. We had someone come to the house and we also went to the showroom. The salesman was not pushy at all and gave us plenty of time to think and ask questions. The people at the showroom were also not pushy. They were patient and really had all of our concerns and questions answered. Everything was great and we were very happy.
We got a curved unit and the installation team was wonderful! I explained to them what we had, why we were getting rid of the old unit, and about my mom who was a little wary of using her old stairlift because it wasn't very reliable. I had to run an errand at the time and they waited until I came home to work with my mother to make sure she was comfortable. They installed the unit professionally and the stairlift's quality is better than other brands. The track itself is better than the other one that we had. Also, the cost was very reasonable and very competitive with other brands. The overall experience was much better and I would tell people to go with Stannah.

My wife has congestive heart failure and she’s legally blind and the stairs are just too much for her. We contacted three stairlift companies but Stannah Stairlifts was the only company that offered a rental. Also, I was very impressed with their salesperson. He was very respectful and understanding of our situation and urgent need. He explained very patiently and I didn’t get the idea that I was just another customer on his list for the day. We rented the 15 steps curved stairlift. The installers got down to business and they sure knew what they were doing. We needed to extend our bottom steps to create a landing platform and had somebody come in to do that and install an outlet for them which was a unique situation but Stannah did very well. Also, the senior worker was very pleasant and sociable.
Then, there was a demo and I appreciated getting those instructions. When the chair got to the top, the seat swirled on its own. I would have to lift the lever on the side of the seat and manually move the seat around to fit the floor. Everything is routine. It brings my wife up and down. The seat would get up to the top and turn around automatically and I was very happy to see that feature. This stairlift is very secure and it had a lot of features built into it. The top part after the curve is a little narrower than the bottom part and I had weak knees and I was concerned about taking the banisters off on both sides. We had to take one banister off on the day of the installation because our knees were gonna hit that banister. But I’m able to use the track of the chair very well as my banister.
Being blind and not being able to see stairs is a high-stress situation. My wife is only blind for the last couple of years and she’s 80 years old so she hasn’t gotten used to that fearful situation yet. The stairlift has taken away a major fear for her and it has been a tremendous help. I’m extremely happy with that. Also, if we reach a point that we don’t need the stairlift anymore, Stannah will come in, take it down then take it without charge. That was really quite extraordinary and wasn’t offered by anybody else. I’m glad that we found Stannah Stairlifts. I highly recommend them. They cared for us very well from beginning to end.

My husband has Parkinson's and he's still coping pretty well. However, getting up the stairs later in the day or at night was getting more difficult. We thought we were gonna need the stairlift down the road and we might as well get it sooner rather than later. I had called around to get recommendations and the people I talked to had usually used the contractor and gave me some different names I'd never heard of. When we found out Stannah had their headquarters, it worked out. They had all the information we needed and we liked it. Stannah had a very good presentation online about having their headquarters in Franklin. We're on the Cape and it was easy to get to. I called and they said we could come up and talk to a representative, which we did. We got to try it out, liked it, and made the decision.
Stannah sent somebody down to take measurements, which they did very quickly and then assigned somebody up to install it. The rep who did the measurements was excellent. We have a nice wide staircase and it has a rail which we could only use on that one side. We're glad that we could use and keep the handrail that we had and add the track and the chair to go up and still have room on the stairs. The one we got is a straight stairlift but it's extra long because our ceilings are a little bit higher.
Also, the installer has been working for Stannah for quite a while and he knew exactly what to do. It only took him three hours. He also made sure we knew how it worked and tried it out. He also said that they've been in business for a long time, started in Great Britain, and do their own manufacturing. Overall, the quality of the stairlift is very good. It has been a big help and we're using it a lot. I wanna stay in the house and everything is just a two-storey colonial. The bathroom and bedrooms are all upstairs so the stairlift makes it so we can stay here. The cost was reasonable and I feel that we made a good decision. The whole system is excellent and my husband is able to operate it very easily.

I'm unable to climb the stairs easily and my boys wanted me to have a stairlift to make life easy to go up to my bedroom. We liked the comments about Stannah Stairlifts as opposed to other companies so we decided to use them. The people who I spoke with during the sales visit were very nice. The installer did a great job and there was a demonstration on how the stairlift worked. I've only had the stairlift for several weeks and it looks wonderful because the stairway is against the wall and the chair and it looks like it's part of the house. It's great going up and down and I haven't had to climb up since I had it.

For about two months, I was going one stair at a time. My husband was behind me and he was afraid I was gonna fall. When I couldn't walk and went onto a wheelchair, we called on Stannah. They came out quite fast and the rep was very nice. He showed us a picture of a straight indoor stairlift and described it, then we decided that that unit was the best for us. It took another week to set it up and put it in and the installer was very nice. He picked up after himself and the stairlift fits the stairwell perfectly. I got home a little later so that he could show me everything and tell me all about the unit even though I read the book.
The stairlift works very well. I’m pleased the little stair comes down when I'm riding down and I like that at the end, it picks up as I'm going up so that nobody can trip on it. When it comes to the top of the stairs, I turn and fold it up so somebody can use the stairs. But when I have to bring it down, the lever is on the outside going down the stairs rather than on the left side where I’d be able to work it. I didn’t realize that until I tried to use it. I have to reach out to use it but at this point, I have this fear of falling. Nonetheless, it was a relief to have the stairlift put in there. I’m going for back surgery and it’s gonna be a long recuperation. I won’t be able to get upstairs to bed if I didn’t have that stairlift. It improved my life and the price was not bad at all.

I couldn’t negotiate the stairs and when the salesman from Stannah Stairlifts came in, he explained and showed us some stairs. He also answered questions from my son-in-law and daughter. He was very personable and I felt secure with him. But when they installed the outdoor stairlift, I was in the hospital so I was not here for the gentleman to adjust it for me. When I came home from the hospital on a Saturday, it wasn’t working. It was binding on the stairs so we had to have somebody come back and readjust it. The man came to adjust it the following Thursday. Now, the stairlift gets me down the stairs and up. It gets me out of the house and to the doctors to get my medical check-up. I’m satisfied with Stannah.
