When we purchased our Kenmore Elite dishwasher, we were told it would be delivered on November 18, 2000. On Friday, November 17, 2000, we received a phone call from Appliance Installers -- Sears' required installers -- that our dishwasher had not yet arrived. Finally, on Saturday, December 2, 2000, two buffoons, Phil and Hadi, from Appliance Installers showed up. They upgraded our electrical and plumbing connections at a fee of $171.40, forced the dishwasher into our undersized kitchen cabinet space and left.

Upon our first use of the dishwasher, the condensate began to leak out of the left top onto our hardwood floor. On December 18, 2000, Sears sent one of their own repairmen who promptly told me that the installers improperly installed the dishwasher. They were supposed to size the cabinet opening so the dishwasher would slide in easily. Tomorrow the buffoons from Appliance Installers are supposed to return to properly install the dishwasher. The people at Appliance Installers rudely asserted that something was wrong with our connection.

Maybe I misunderstood the installation date. Maybe they meant it would be properly installed by November 18, 2001!

We purchased a dishwasher in May of 1998 (Kenmore/Whirlpool - 464.). Subsequently, every 3 months the machine would stop working. Each time, it took Sears two weeks to order parts and come and fix it (we have an extended warranty -- up until lately, I think).

Each time (four at last count), the technicians replaced the same little fuse/thermocoupling. Each time the machine stops, we smell something burning.

The technicians think we should have a new machine. Sears is playing hide and seek with us and won't talk to us at all anymore because we had the temerity to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. We actually had someone at Sears say they had been instructed not to talk to us.

Seems that is the case in all the departments (service etc.). We are now in limbo. BBB is waiting for Sears to resolve, but I rather doubt it. We are waiting for the fuse to blow again.

Well, its a pain in the bumper, but we're also kind of scared of this machine, because this part is in the door (plastic) and is a THERMO-coupling fuse. Also Kenmore-Whirlpool dishwashers were recalled in 1996 for a VERY similar problem by the CPSC.
