I bought a dishwasher. It's maybe a year-and-a-half old. The motor went out after I made an appointment with customer service to come fix it. They stood me up the first time. Finally came out and fixed it but now some other things have gone wrong with it. I make an appointment and then they keep changing the schedule then I get hung up on from customer service... I would highly recommend never using Sears for any kind of appliances whatsoever. What's the point of buying a warranty when they don't stick to it!!! A very rude customer service. They don't even speak English. Will never buy any kind of Sears appliances again. I will spread the word to anybody that I know to never go to Sears to buy anything!!!

I have Sears Total Home Warranty, which costs $70/month and $100/repair. My dishwasher broke a month ago. Sears sent out a repairman who diagnosed the problem and ordered the necessary part. He said it would take 10 days to arrive. That is a ridiculously long time, but whatever. 10 days later the part arrives, he shows up. Oops! Wrong part. That's going to be ANOTHER 10 days. "We're so sorry..." I call for some resolution. At $70/month and $100/repair, I feel I deserve better service than this. "Sorry, no can do. OUR error, is YOUR problem. But good news! Your part will arrive the 6th of April." The 6th comes and goes, and no part. I call. "Oops! We see it's scheduled to be there on the 7th!" The 7th comes and goes...no part. Oops! Now it's going to be the 10th...for sure. I'll be calling my lawyer on Monday for help getting this resolved. This company is unbelievably bad to deal with.

I purchased a high end dishwasher online from Sears including installation. The total amount charged on my account was $968.98. On my order it was to be delivered 3/15. What that didn't say was the delivery was to a warehouse and the installer was so busy it would take 2 more weeks for him to install it in my house. I called to cancel and was told it would be refunded in 5 to 10 business days. I waited the 10 days and I have been calling and now they are saying it was processed and should take another 3-5 days. I have been told they are working with my bank etc. But nothing! They took the money immediately, why does it take 3 weeks and multiple phone calls and no refund.

In Nov we contacted Sears Home Services that our dishwasher was not working. No one could come look at it until Dec 9. At that time the serviceman said it was possibly electronic board so one was ordered. It was implied that we had an appt on Dec 16 to install. They did not come. Next available appt was Jan 3. The service man came back and installed the electronic board. When he finished I commented that the dishwasher door and sides did not seem to be wet. He showed me how it filled and assured me it was fine. The dishwasher was not fixed.
Next appt available for them to come look at dishwasher was Jan 25. They finally came out and found that maybe it was another part. Part was ordered. Next available appointment: Feb 19. Today they came out and found that part also did not work, and the service man was recommending the dishwasher be replaced... I do not know yet how much money, but I am sure it will not be enough to cover a dishwasher, nor cover the last 4 months without a dishwasher.

Purchased a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher on June 20, 2017. Broken on December 3, 2017. Called for Sears repair. No appointment available until Jan. 4, 2018, one month later. On that day it snowed. Sears called me and left a voice message that they are canceling the appointment and I need to reschedule. Next earliest appointment is Feb.5! THEY canceled and I had to go to the back of the line for a new appointment. I called customer service or used chat more than 10 times to get an earlier appointment. No help. Called complaints. No help.
I called every service number they had and nothing. They often said, "We will call the District Manager and we will contact you in 48 hours." LIES. Nothing. I called the Brooklyn store and spoke to a manager. She said, "Nothing we can do because you purchased it online." I said, "But I came into the store and YOU used the online service." She said, "Nothing we can do." Still waiting for repair. I asked, "What if the technician can't fix it right away because a part is needed?" Another month to wait. What if I want to return it? They answer, "You can't because it's more than one month since purchase." But I have a one year warranty! Too bad, they say. You can't return it UNLESS 8 repair attempts are made and can't be fixed. EIGHT? Yes, I promise I didn't make this up. If you buy from Sears, you are taking a huge risk. Good luck.

I had Sears repair my dishwasher sometime last year. It was a fuse that went out. Recently my dishwasher stopped working so I called Sears. Found out it was the same fuse that was replaced the first time. The technician explained the wiring was not done the first time and that's why it failed. This time the wiring was replaced. I am very disappointed with Sears as I had to pay twice for something that was not my fault. I called customer service only to be told they only guarantee workmanship for 90 days. They were not interested in making it right.

I ordered online a dishwasher from Sears on October 26, 2017, and paid for a warranty also. As of today, December 26, I have not received the dishwasher or been able to have my Sears MasterCard credited back for the charges. Each time I call I get a customer service rep in the Philippines that assures me they will have it taken care of in three business days. The only response I get in three days is an email stating that they are not able to credit my account and the whole process starts over again. This has happened at least four times with no resolution. Is there any way to contact a Sears rep. that will truly help with this matter?

We bought a Kenmore Elite dishwasher 4 years ago for $1000.00. It has leaked since it was almost new. It has also never ever cleaned well. It leaves a scum on the dishes. I have done everything the techs have told me to do including the soaps and spot remover as directed. It always leave filth and scum on the dishes. We have to rinse them by hand to get the scum off the dishes. It has ruined almost all our dishes and silverware.
We bought the extended warranted. I have had them repair the leak now 6 times and is never stopped leaking and it has never cleaned better. They replaced no parts that seemed to make a difference. One tech even tried tweaking the dishwasher door. They have erased several of the appointments from the history. It leaks randomly. It has ruined the floors and baseboards. I have a claim number for the floor to be repaired but there is no purpose as it still leaks. The front kick balance has not been on in years because it molds the insulation when it leaks.
Now it take three weeks to get the techs out to do a repair. They are useless. The Sears new lemon requirements requires four visits in one year with replacement parts installed each time. This means 8 visits arranged and 8 times off work then the hassle with the useless people on the phone. They are making it so hard to get service that it just is not worth it. The company is totally out of integrity and have become slime. I hope they go completely out of business. I am left with a ruined floor and a ** dishwasher.

Over 3 months ago, we called for service on our dishwasher, the door kept opening and stopping the cycle. I told them the latch was worn and perhaps they should bring one with them. We were told it would be 3 weeks before a service person would be here, I figured they would bring a new latch with them. The man arrived, looked at his service order, says he needs to order parts and leaves, doesn't even look at the dishwasher. The parts are to be delivered to the house, and we are to call them, to schedule installation, when they arrive.
The parts arrived but no latch assembly, we call, another 3 weeks for a serviceman to arrive. A different man arrives, installs new springs on the door and somehow gets the door out of alignment, now it is hard to close, he leaves without responding to our questions about the door not closing without difficulty. Ten minutes into the cycle the door pops open. Another 3 weeks to get someone out. The first one reappears, "adjusts" the door, I ask him to stay for a test run, says he does not have the time. I start the machine, 5 minutes into the cycle the door pops open. Again we call for service, another 3 weeks!!! I told them that maybe they should send the third stooge next time. Still not repaired.

Sears customer service and repairs department is the worst. Frustrating is putting it mildly. They are rude, arrogant and totally disrespectful towards their customers. I will never buy an appliance (Kenmore Elite dishwasher) from them again because they are impossible to work with to reach reasonable resolution of broken, non functioning appliances. My dishwasher has leaked since I bought it and their first technician came out and charged a chunk of money and did nothing to fix it except tell me I should not use as much soap.
The next time I called I was on the phone for an hour going through a robot and 5 different people with no resolution. They want to charge me again to have it diagnosed but I said I would only pay if it was fixed, that's reasonable right...but not when you are dealing with an unreasonable institution whose only interest is collecting money from customers without providing a service. I will never buy from them again. I hope they go out of business. The world will be a better place without them.

We bought this Sears Kenmore Elite dishwasher having bought from Sears before and expecting quality and value for our over $1,000 washer. We chose not to buy the extended warranty since it was so expensive. The control panel broke within the first year and was replaced for the cost of the labor only. It broke again within the next year and again about 6 months later. Each time it was repaired was almost $400 parts and labor. It has now broken again. We have gotten a total runaround from Sears, Kenmore and LG who we were told actually manufactured the machine. The numbers they give always go back to Kenmore repair with a recorded voice that gets you to a foreigner operator who just tells you they can do nothing except sell you another even more expensive warranty. We will probably have it removed and buy another product and never buy from Sears again.

We purchased several Kenmore appliances from Sears during a kitchen remodel (total cost $7,800). One of the appliances purchased was a Kenmore Elite dishwasher (Model 665.12763K312 at a cost of $800.00) which came highly recommended. The unit was installed in summer of 2015. Usage of this unit has not been high as we are a family of two. We were very pleased with the unit to begin, cleaned well, extremely quiet, etc. In August 2017 the unit began leaking, damaging our hardwood floors. We called a recommended service technician (as Sears in our area does not have in-house service) and he came within two days. The diagnosis was a leaking seal at the bottom of the motor. The seal was replaced and the leaking stopped. About a day or two later we noticed that the unit began making a groaning noise when running and never completed a full cycle.
The intense heat melted several items that were deemed dishwasher safe. In fact the plastic stopper at the end of the top rack to allow the rack to stay on the guide, melted. We called our service technician again and he ran the machine through a couple quick tests and did not find anything wrong. We ran the unit and it seemed to function normally for one load but for subsequent loads went back to the same behavior. We are afraid to run the unit at all! We are very disappointed with this product!!

I purchased several appliances including a Kenmore Dishwasher in August 2016. My dishwasher was delivered on 09/19/2016. I called Sears on 09/09/2017 to inform them my dishwasher was broken. The Sears rep was helpful and told me that my dishwasher was under the manufacturer's warranty so there would be no charges for service or parts. The first technician arrived on 09/11/2017 to diagnose. Parts were ordered and delivered to my home.
The second technician arrived on 09/19/2017. He re-diagnosed and said that the parts ordered were wrong, so he ordered new parts. That same technician arrived again on 09//29//207. He completed the repairs and after he took his tools to his truck, he came back in and asked me if I was interested in purchasing a home warranty for future repairs. The warranty sounded good, so I said yes. I received the coverage outline and summary of coverages a week ago. After reviewing the coverage, I decided that I didn't want the coverage.
My coverage was going to go in effect on 10/29/2017. I called Sears Home Warranty and cancelled on 10/26/2017, 3 days prior to the coverage going into effect. As soon as the customer service rep realized that she couldn't "upsell" me to another policy, she told me that she was sending me a bill for $200.00 for the repairs made on my dishwasher. I explained to her that the dishwasher was covered under the manufacturer's warranty, which both service repair guys knew that I had, but apparently, the second service repair guy submitted the repair costs to Sears for reimbursement of his time. The service techs don't get paid much when an appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, but if they can sell you a home warranty while they are at your home, they then submit the work order as a warranty claim and then receive a higher payout. Shame on you Sears for not catching this and/or not doing anything about this internal scam!

There was a problem with the dishwasher draining with an HE error message. I used the chat service with Sears, they were to come over the next day with all the repair parts and fix the machine that day. When they came over, they had a cursory glance. Without checking anything with the machine, they said two pieces probably need replacing, they would order them, and it will take two weeks. When I called customer service, they were a nightmare. Their basic response was "That is the way we do it," and refused to connect me with a supervisor or give the number for Sears corporate. I have contested the financial charges. This ALMOST LOOKS LIKE BAIT AND SWITCH.

Each Times Sears Home Warranty send out A&E to repair. Excellent technicians who have tried everything and replaced numerous parts only to fail again. Last repair technician said, “If this doesn't fix it nothing will and tell Sears to do a deal with you for a replacement.” Next day dishwasher failed again. 4 Calls to Sears Home Warranty - all promising to call back within 24 hours and arrange replacement. Never phoned back. Second last call lasted 45 minutes whilst dumbo on the line tried to work out what she should do. In the end I gave up and phoned in the next day and finally got connected with someone, James who said he would take care of it. Checked all the service records and could only go back for last 6 repairs as all previous had been wiped clean with no further details. Therefore in his mind that was my problem not his.
As such not prepared to honor any liability to help me replace the dishwasher other than saying they will nominate another repair service other than A&E who they might trust to do a better repair. I have no idea whether I will ever get any satisfaction from Sears, but as I have no intention of ever dealing with them again, probably won't matter. Today the dishwasher took 6 attempts to get it to work and I will do the sensible thing and buy a new one from either Lowes or Home Depot. I will also cancel my Sears Home Warranty renewal. I should have the Consumer Affairs reviews on Sears Home Warranty before ever signing up with them and saved myself a lot of aggro. Clearly my poor experience is a common problem.

I called the Jackson store and was told it was my fault as I didn't use the machine every day. Also the owner told me whoever hooked up the garbage disposal last year didn't do it correctly. The next day I noticed my wood floor was damaged in front of the machine. I called service. Took almost three weeks to get someone out. Called Sears home repair, got an appointment for Wed 6/28. The person on the phone tried to convince me to buy the home appliance warranty that would cost $49/month but I politely declined. Few days before the appointment, got a call saying a tech has been injured and my appointment has been pushed out by one week. So the new appointment is 7/5. Got multiple reminder calls on my home phone and cell phone, along with email reminders.
Finally the tech came as expected. I described the observation and my speculation to the tech. He did a quick check and confirmed that the seal needs replacement. He also will replace the whole pump assembly because moisture has very likely gotten into the bearing. The total cost would have been $514. He immediately told me that I am getting 50% discount with a total home warranty contract. Then he explained the contract costs $69/month that will cover any repairs of all home equipment repairs.
I asked whether it makes sense to buy a new dishwasher if I don't want the total home repair warranty. He quickly helped me found a $399 dishwasher on Sears website. With tax, delivery, installation and disposal charges it would total to >$700. He immediately tried very hard to convince me to purchase the $129ish extended 3-year warranty. After I sternly declined all the offerings, and showed him Costco has similar dishwashers that offers free delivery, installation and disposal, we started to process the payment for today's home visit charge of $59. The payment process felt like taking forever. It was obviously a pretty antiquated system that requires doing same thing twice.
Of the ~45min the tech was here, less than 10 minutes was spent on diagnosing the issue and discussing the options. 40 minutes was him selling hard on those highway robbery crap and me repeatedly refusing them. The other 5 minutes was processing the payment. It was so irritating. Before he left, he wanted me to give him 9 or 10 rating for the visit. About 10 minutes after the tech left, he called me and told me that he forgot to close the service call. I wasn't sure what else I need to do in order to close the service call. He said he would bring somebody else on the line to finish the job. So I waited for him to bring the other guy online, and only to discover that was a after-service survey. I declined to participate because I need to go get my new dishwasher from Costco.
All and all, I got the clear impression that Sears must be super desperate and are pushing their service and repair guys super hard to sell those highway robbery crap. I wonder whether they may get a commission for any deals. In my humble opinion, when a company turns every customer service opportunity to aggressive cross selling with no regard of customers real interests, they are destined for doom in no time.

We were thrilled when they called and arranged delivery as scheduled. Here's where they dropped stars… Third party delivery guy made no effort to fit it through a door to kitchen (we paid extra for install and takeaway). Told us when we got it in to call and he'd come take the old away as he was in area all the time.
I removed the doors and drawers from the new fridge and walked it into the kitchen and installed it. Removed old and left on my front porch for him to pick up. I called delivery guy and he said he was right around the corner but I had to call Sears which I did, got overseas customer service and explained the fridge sitting on porch and delivery guy around corner. She scheduled pick up a week away. I stressed that he was around the corner, waiting for her direction, she agreed. At days end, I called again to hear it was scheduled for a week away. I will pay someone to take it away. It's too bad because this was almost a 5 star rating and I felt great contributing to Sears which is struggling. My Samsung dishwasher that I purchased at Sears on 3/31/15 has been broken since 3/17. I have had numerous (6 or 7) repairmen visits, with many, many parts replaced, only for it to break down that night or the next day. There were 3 service calls where Sears replaced parts. Sears says the contract requires 4 repairs with replaced parts. Why do they keep insisting on repairing a faulty designed Samsung dishwasher, only to have the same problem. It leaks water all over my floor and flashes LE, makes a horrible noise, and then turns off. In the last service call they ordered parts the cost over $900.00. Why do they keep putting money into a LEMON. I want a new dishwasher. Enough is enough. This is why I purchased an extended warranty, and all Sears does is fight with me & they keep sending out repairmen. We bought this Kenmore Elite dishwasher for over $800 in 2014. It has never really cleaned the dishes all that great (especially for what it cost), but the reason for this post is that in late 2016--it was barely two years old--it started not cleaning at all. We called for a repair (and they canceled on us three times before they came, telling us that the service person "was sick" on three separate scheduled visits two weeks apart). Finally, the guy came and said, essentially, that the inside drain valves were plastic/rubber and had eroded, which made the water drain right out as soon as it filled. The cost to fix it? $679! I explained that was the cost of a new dishwasher, almost. He sort of shrugged.
I'm so pissed. If I'd know the dishwasher was disposable, I would have bought a much cheaper one. Going forward, I am never spending that much on a dishwasher again and I'm doing my homework. And I'm never buying anything from Sears (this dishwasher was purchased along with several other items and the other Sears item--a Kenmore Elite--is equally terrible).

Having been a Sears customer for over 50 years, my husband and I sent back our charge cards to the CEO of Retail, because many of the company's products are now substandard and unreliable. Dishwashers are suppose to last 9 years. Since 2014 we have had to replace the sprinkler wands, door latch, dish rack sliders, and now the computer panel needs to be shaken to work. Sears has offered 10% on a new dishwasher (they always have this sale), or a service agreement for around $300/yr (we can buy a new dishwasher at $300/yr in 3 years instead of repairing an old one). We put away money for a few expected repairs, but so many major repairs needed in such a short time is alarming. Consumers have to put out a lot of money for a service agreement or to hire an independent company to service their products as they break down, even on top-of-the line products. American consumers are trapped.

I bought a top-of-the-line Bosch dishwasher and had Sears deliver and install it. I also purchased the Sears Master Protection Agreement that purports to provide the "Guaranteed BEST Coverage in the industry". It - in fact - does not. Two nights ago the dishwasher stopped and the control panel had an "E24" error message. I called the extended warranty number and the "technician" at the other end told me that this was caused by a blockage in the associated plumbing and was not covered by the warranty and that I should have a plumber look at it. So I called my plumber and he said, "there's nothing wrong with your plumbing, but the guy who installed your dishwasher did not do it right". So I paid him $150 to fix it and looked to Sears to reimburse for my out-of-pocket expenses.
After 2 hours on the phone and 5 or 6 different "experts" I was told that since the installation was over 12 months old Sears did not feel obligated to cover this cost, despite the fact that the installation was demonstrably faulty. Bottom line: there is a good reason - actually a VERY good reason - that Sears is heading the way of the Dodo bird. Poor service, poor customer support and little, if any, concern for their customer satisfaction. My advice: buy your appliances at Costco or Sam's Club. The sooner this dinosaur is dead the better.

Sears use to be a good place to buy appliances. Not anymore. I purchased a dishwasher from them. Four months later it stopped working. The repair people they send out don't care. The first appointment I had with them I requested they call me so I could open the gate to my driveway. They came, never called, just left a sticky note on mailbox. I rescheduled. The next time they were a complete no show. Rescheduled again. They came out this time said it needed a relay switch and has to order part. Had to contact them to find out if part had come in so they came out again said it needed another part so they have reordered another part.
I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased anything from them. I never will again. I don't see how they stay in business. My co worker said he purchased a fridge from them and had problems. And after the repairman had come out, it was not better but worse. You don't want to do business with this store trust me. Don't go there. Take your hardworking dollars elsewhere. My expensive splurge on the top-rated all-stainless Kenmore Elite Dishwasher 12783 has become extremely upsetting. The dishwasher leaked underneath, causing some cabinet damage but luckily my floor is tile on a slab. A wonderful and honest repairman came out, and after an hour of careful diagnostics he was incredulous, told me he thought I should complain to Sears. First I decided to research a little, and after much reading it turns out I am not the only person having this problem with this high-end dishwasher. I am at a loss as to how to next proceed.
From my reading, it appears Sears hasn't yet recognized that this is a defect, and the repairs recommended are expensive - varying from technicians replacing the entire sump or the entire motor - yet the replacement isn't always solving the problem. I also read a few customer reviews stating they determined that a gasket was installed incorrectly (upside-down), and they ordered an inexpensive part and repaired it by themselves. I certainly don't want to be abused by Sears overcharging or incorrectly diagnosing the problem. All descriptions of this leaking issue sound exactly the same! A dishwasher of this caliber should NOT be having such a problem.
How do we customers get Sears to recognize this common defect and take responsibility for the repair? At this point we are hand-washing rather than paying several hundred dollars for a repair that genuinely sounds as if it should be a recall. Is there any way to gather forces to demand that Sears look more closely at what seems to be a common defect? Such a disappointment to purchase the top recommended model, be faced with a truly unexpected and expensive repair, & then find that many other customers are having the exact same leaking problem.

We purchase the Sears Kenmore ultra wash - quiet guard standard dish washer in 2007. In 2009 the circuit went bad. I call Sears, they said it's out of warranty. I paid 320 to replace the board, fast forward to 2-20-2017 that same board gone bad and now cost 425 to replaced. I am so dissatisfied with that brand, with 2 yrs the main board went bad and then went bad again. Not a well-made product, not a happy customer.

When service person came out he said would cost $269 to repair and said it was the pump and also said "that is what you can expect." We paid over $1500 for what we thought was the best after talking to sears sales. You can't talk to anyone in the US about your concerns only someone from overseas that reads off a computer and not willing to help. If you think you're getting a quality product/service from Sears it's not the case today. I spent over eight hours on the phone and most on hold and being transferred, it's BAD. I even purchased the Sears Protection Plan, was told repair would happen on FEB 28 and the day of was told by the services to ask of a refund on service agreement because he was told not to service by Sears. Sears charged my credit card but will not service.

We bought a dishwasher in early 2015 to replace one that was around for roughly 10 years or more. The new fancy dishwasher came with all the bells and whistles and cost us well over a grand new. We bought a 5 year warranty too just to cover the thing. Then the troubles began... 3 months out was the first break down I believe it was. The washer wouldn't heat properly. They replaced a control board. A month later it wouldn't wash at all. No water. They replaced the pump. So we said, "Look, we want a replacement. There is no reason something this 'new' should breakdown in less than a year." We got a replacement. What they neglected to mention was it reduced our warranty value. Why? You see the warranty covered "up to" the amount we paid. They picked out some discount clearance 400$ washer without saying anything like this. They really screwed us over doing this.
Our washer got home and installed. Every month or two it was the same story. The washer would breakdown and not wash properly. They would then send a tech sometime taking in excess of a month to fix the washer. Then the cycle would repeat. Here we are today. We were so sick of it that we told them they were giving us a replacement. Customer support, I don't recall which department now, said they would do it. This is when we were first notified our warranty was only worth 400$ and why. My washer was suppose to be delivered on December 31. Which at that time I had already been more than a month without a dishwasher. When I called asking where it was they said it wouldn't be delivered until January 6 due to shipping delays.
So I am waiting here right now. Typing this up as I wait for a delivery. A delivery I might add which was suppose to be between 830am and 1030am. It is now 1210pm (just after noon), almost two hours past the delivery scheduled times. I called the Sears delivery line a while ago too to try to find out where things were. They said, "They must be running late with their deliveries. They have not called in to update us but if they do we will let you know." This is why we are never buy ANYTHING from Sears again. There has been too much trouble with them. Everything breaking, no accountability, and on top of that their own employees have told me that Sears uses refurbished parts. Now don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against refurb... if it works. My own paper shredder is refurbished and works great. If it is going to break down every month though...

The repair person told us it was the control unit, and that it wasn't worth fixing, that these models are known to have the control unit fail especially since it didn't have a surge protector (it is directly wired). We ordered a new control board on our own at a cost of $150 and replaced it. Fairly easy task. The dishwasher has worked until now (August 2016). When they sold me the Master Protection Agreement, no one said, nor was it in any of the paperwork they gave me, that mold wasn't covered. It said: "unlimited service and no charge for parts; no-lemon guarantee; annual preventive maintenance check; produce replacement if your covered product cannot be fixed." I am incensed. I have lost track of the exact number of times." Similarly to Jeff, we've had 7 repairs on this machine in 2 years and one week. 6 repairs occurred in the first year but the rule is that a certain number of parts must be replaced in order for it to be considered under the "lemon law" and lots of visits were different technicians without parts.
Who has the time to take so much work off? One tech tested a motherboard and wouldn't leave it in - so it didn't count towards replacing a part (lemon law) and just put it down as unable to fix. Ultimately the 6th repair "fixed" the unit. Here I am a year later and it broke again. A technician came out (7th visit now) and I spent $150 spent on a water valve (based on the dishwasher error code) but that didn't work. I have had the same bad experience with this dishwasher as have a number of you and I truly do feel your pain. Fortunately, I have not had an issue until December of 2015. The issues were two-fold: (1) malfunction of cycles (running too long), dishes not being cleaned and soap residue from packets and/or powder on the bottom of the machine, (2) the "Big Bang", water gushing out from under the dishwasher.
This is the manufacturing flaw (clamp on hose to motor) by Whirlpool. Bottom line thus far: new control panel, new pump motor, and $4,000 in damages to cabinets. The only thing that will resolve this is a class action suit against Sears and Whirlpool. They have known the problems with this machine for some time now. It is time to do something about this issue!

We called Sears and they offered to sell us an extended warranty and then came out to fix it. The repairman said that this is common as the machine uses a low quality hose clamp on the back which allowed the water to come out of the hose. This happened again around 6 months later while still under the extended warranty and just happened for a third time (no longer under the extended warranty). It has obviously been leaking for some time undetected because when it was pulled out there is standing water and mold. My lower cabinets and baseboards on either side of the machine are ruined.

Bought DW in March 2012. In Jan 2013 it required a repair. The pump hangs from the bottom of the DW under the pan. The pump is not secured with a screw or locking bracket, it literally hangs from a slot and relies on the rubber hose (3 inches long) to keep it from sliding out of the slot. The clamps to hold the hose in place, and the pump too, aren't strong enough. Hose disconnects, water pours out and into my basement, pump falls onto the floor. First repair in 2013 was covered by warranty, but still inconvenienced me for over two weeks.
Repairman immediately knew the problem and said Sears had made some type of improvement to fix the problem. Repair resulted in whole undermount unit being replaced. A HOSE comes loose but no sense being environmentally conscious and fixing the problem - replace a whole bunch of working parts too. Guess what happened today? It's not even three years since they fixed it and the exact same thing happened again. Hose came loose, water pours out and into my basement, pump slips out of slot and sits on floor.
Now it's "out of warranty" according to Sears. This is not a normal wear and tear problem - it's a basic design flaw. No parts are worn! The hose simply won't stay connected because of some idiot(s) who designed it that way. Estimated repair cost is around $350 - $400. And what assurance do I get that gravity will no longer exist in the future and I won't experience this again? I'm not doing it and I've had other problems with Sears too. As a side note, I'm reasonable handy and have removed and installed dishwashers before. I tried different clamps to solve the problem the first time with no success. The repairman, a local guy paid by Sears for service calls, confirmed that I wasn't crazy and was trying the right things but it wouldn't work. He'd seen this problem too many times. Other side note, had a delivery nightmare with Sears for a different appliance. When will I learn NOT to buy from Sears?!

The Kenmore Elite pre-HE dishwasher may have been a top-notch machine, but I'll never know. The Elite HE is THE worst dishwasher I've ever owned in the last 35 years! The sole problem is that it is a HE and I've discovered than anything HE is expensive and worthless. I never had to do anything to my old dishwashers but put the dishes and detergent in, turn it on, and take the dishes out - clean and dry - when it was finished. With this new HE dishwasher, even thought it's set for "heat dry" the dishes are puddled and splattered with water and I end up having to towel them dry. Worse, just like the piece of junk HE washer I have, water NEVER completely drains out of the dishwasher and it started to smell really bad. I washed and towel dried the inside of the dishwasher, but it still stunk.
Then I took out the filter, which has to be cleaned monthly, and found the source of the stench - standing water that never completely drains out of the dishwasher. Again, like the HE washer, whenever you start a cycle, you hear the machine draining water - only it never drains completely. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend the Kenmore Elite or any HE dishwasher or washer because they are horrible and eventually start to stink unless you wipe them out after every use, clean the filter, and sop up the water that never drains out of them. I'd give this dishwasher a -10 stars if I could. Expensive junk!

We bought a dishwasher few month ago. Since Sears installation charges almost double of the local plumber, we paid local for installation. During the process of moving, water leaking on the dinner room floor. After first try out washing, water won't drain completely. I called plumber for help. I was told that I have to call Sears, it was a default product. However, Sears call center in foreign country refuse arrange plumber even to take a look. I was told that they can ship me another one, if I can put the default one the box ready for moving.
It was not my fault that the machine did not work. But they said it was not their responsibility to uninstall the machine. If they installed for me, then they would uninstall it for me. I have to pay another $180 for uninstall the machine. Actually, I did not even have the money to do so. I have to keep the default product till month later. I paid another plumber fix the machine. Almost in every three weeks interval, I would receive a letter from Sears ask me to buy their warranty coverage for my dishwasher. They only care about the money customer would pay, care less about provide quality service. No wonder they are closing many store nationwide.

In truth, when it was working, did a pretty good job of cleaning the dishes, and was exceedingly quiet. But we did not even have the unit for two years when it broke down, and a new computer board was required, costing me about 25% of the entire purchase. It is a sad, sad state of affairs when a major department store such as Sears cannot stand behind a major appliance with their own name on the front. Unbelievable, it did not even last 2 years. Bottom line, based upon my experiences, stay away from Sears, stay away from their brand products, especially, if it has the word "Elite".

When we placed an order for a new dishwasher from Sears, I went back and forth nailing down that the old one would be taken away and the new one installed. This was an extremely important service for us as we wouldn't know how to install a dishwasher. When the dishwasher arrived though, it was dropped off and the fellow said, "No, we don't touch the old one, you need to call an installer." We were floored! All this after receiving call after call instructing us to have the old appliance disconnected so it could be taken, which we did.
Then, I went into Customer Service Hell - round and round but no help and the endless "we're so sorry". When I contacted Sears Installation, the fellow kept trying to put me back to CS. I then spent an hour (collectively) waiting on hold to try and schedule an installer... As I write this, I'm still trying to get through. I keep being apologized to and then fobbed off. Unbelievable. Never again. Awful experience and, as I write this, we have a dishwasher sitting in our hallway and our old one disconnected.
It's impossible not to think that we were willfully deceived about having to pay an extra $155 for installation... What's also shocking is how hard it is to get a helpful person. The fellow who could have scheduled the paid installation told me to try CS again to maybe get the fee waived but I realize now he was just fobbing me off - I just went back into the useless circle of hell again and now I can't get through to the Installation Department... Never again.

AVOID SEARS!!! We bought a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher after reading good reviews on Consumer Reports. Huge Mistake! After 12 months of use we noticed our hardwood floors warping. We stopped using the dishwasher. $7,000 in damage to the floor alone. After numerous phone calls Sears sent a Service Tech out. $550 to repair the dishwasher that is only a year old! He strongly recommended NOT doing the repair and buying a Bosch! As for the floor, they passed us off to Whirlpool for that. We've been fighting with Sears and Whirlpool (who originally made the dishwasher) ever since. Both Sears and Whirlpool admit there was a defective part that was under warranty. Whirlpool (after many, MANY hoops) are sending a big check to fix the floor. As for Sears/Kenmore? They won't answer our phone calls or emails. What few people we can get through to have few records on our issue and we have to start all over again. Almost a year into this issue and we still don't have a dishwasher and I have to PAY to fix it. AVOID SEARS!!!

On 6/10/15 we purchased a Kenmore dishwasher from Sears Home Appliance, 1150 Fry Rd., Houston, Tx. 77084, as a replacement for our old Kenmore unit. Additionally, we purchased the delivery and installation package for $150. Upon delivery, the installer said he could not install the unit because the shut-off valve to the water line had a compression connection for the water line rather than a threaded, he did not have the correct type and we would need to call a plumber at a probable cost of $125.00 to install a valve with the appropriate connection. (I actually purchased the correct valve at Sears later that day for $6.49 plus tax and installed it in about 10 or 15 minutes.)
I contacted the sales representative and requested they either credit my account for the $150 delivery & installation charge or cancel the sale and take the unit back to the store. Sears would not agree to the credit so they took the unit back. My credit card was later credited for the original charge except for a $45 delivery charge which Sears claims is not refundable.
This was probably the first unpleasant experience I've had with Sears and it never occurred to me they would not be able to do the installation because the old water line connection was a compression fitting and the new one threaded. Surely, my installation wasn't the first time this came up. Actually, it would seem to be a somewhat common occurrence when replacing older units. Nothing was mentioned about possible installation problems by the sales person when we looked at the unit in the store or later when we called her and said we would purchase.
Since we didn't receive the "delivery & installation" package we presumably purchased, we will not be paying a delivery charge. Had Sears mentioned the possibility they would not be able to do the installation but would have charged a $45 delivery charge, I would not have paid extra for the "delivery & installation". In fact, I actually later purchased a unit, picked it up and installed it myself. I don't think that store (actually a Sears franchise store) has the same customer satisfaction goals as I had become accustomed to from numerous prior Sears purchases.

In July our dishwasher started to leak. It was already repaired about a year ago so we decided to buy a new one. July 30: I took measurements to Sears and bought a dishwasher that we were assured would fit. Aug 7: Installer arrived and said dishwasher would not fit space so he did not take it off the truck. He took it back to the warehouse and said he would do the paperwork for the refund. Sears advised it would be about a week for credit to show up. Aug 11: Purchased dishwasher #2, I was assured this one would fit. Aug 13: Installer arrived and said dishwasher #2 would not fit space so he did not take it off the truck. He took it back to the warehouse and said he would do the paperwork for the refund. Aug 20: Purchase price of dishwasher #2 credited to my AMEX acct. Purchase price of dishwasher #1 had still not been credited. Aug 25: Purchased dishwasher #3. Purchase price of #1 still not credited.
Sep 1: went to Sears to follow up on credit for #1. Sears rep said this had to be handled by sales rep since they do not have an on-site customer service department. Sales rep took information and said he had to complete some form and would call me with a response within about 2 hours. Being a realist, I did not expect a 2-hour window but I did expect a response. None was ever forthcoming. Sep 3: Dishwasher #3 installed. Sep 10: Back to Sears to inquire about the credit for #1. The sales rep looked it up said it was cancelled but he had no idea why the purchase price was not credited. He said he could not do anything but he did dial customer service and handed me the phone. Aha! There is a customer service department, just not on-site. I spoke with Carrie of C.S. who recognized the problem and received permission to manually fix the problem. Again, it would be 7 to 10 days for the credit to appear.
I acknowledged that she was not responsible for the problem but that I was very dissatisfied with the service I received previously through the store, that this would be my last appliance purchase at Sears (I have purchased appliances exclusively at Sears for 50 years) and that I hoped my comments would not stop at her level. Apparently, Carrie did pass my comments along as I received a call from Diane in the afternoon who gave me her number and told me to call if the credit does not appear. I hope I do not have to call her. I appreciate the work of Carrie and Diane but why wasn't this resolved weeks ago? Why weren't the sales reps on the floor more helpful? Today's representative turned around without a word after dialing the customer service number and handed me the ringing phone.
When I left, he was chatting with 2 other sales people and apparently could not drag himself away to ask if the problem was resolved or if there was anything else he could do. The one that was supposed to call me over a week ago was one of those involved in chatting with co-workers. He had time for chatting but not for providing service. Who trains the sales staff? If asked to rate this purchase on a scale of 1-10, my response would be 0. This is September 26 and there is still no credit on my AMEX. On Monday I will be following up one more time. It took less than 7 minutes to charge my account but they have not been able to credit it in 7 weeks.

We purchased a Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher on 5/15/2011. Fortunately we purchased the extended warranty that covers us until May 2016. The control board broke the first time 6 months after we purchased the appliance. A new one was installed on 11/14/11. Then it ran fine for a little over 2 years. It broke in the middle of January 2014 but the earliest we could get someone to look at it was 2/5/2014. The repair person determined it was again the control board and it took over a MONTH to get the part! It was installed on 3/6/14. We ran the dishwasher the next day. It didn't complete the cycle and the controls didn't work. The control board was replaced again on 3/17/14.
It broke again on 12/23/14 when I had a dinner party the next night and house-guests. Sears wanted to wait until 1/10/15 to repair it, but after my husband made numerous calls he finally got someone to come out on 12/30/14 and the control board was replaced. The most recent time it broke was in May. On 6/2/15 the control board was replaced for the 5th time, the 4th in 1-1/2 years. Now it is broken again and the earliest someone will come out is two weeks away. This is unacceptable! Repair service should be much more timely. Kenmore=trash. We've always purchased Kenmore appliances but never again. 3 yr old dishwasher, a year in the locking mechanism goes. 3 years in, I need to replace the diverter motor and pump housing for a grand total of 384.00. Not happening. After researching complaints, I see that these parts are replaced many times after the first few months because they come out of the factory leaking. Unfortunately for us, it last a few years and then failed so no warranty coverage. Seems that it's a poor design with many problems. Pretty slick on Kenmore's part. Design a product that after a bit destroys itself, repairs are hundreds of dollars, consumers are forced to buy another. Never ever again. Will make sure many many people are aware of these inferior products.

Sometimes it has been repaired 2 or 3 times during the year. The last time it needed repair was the 4th time in 12 months. I was asked if I wanted to replace it and I said yes. The original cost was close to $900.00. When the warranty company called me they said they were allowing $540 for replacement. I was so angry---the warranty is for replacement NOT an allowance to replace. I asked them how they came up with that figure and was told they did not have to replace the original item---only allow an amount for a "comparable" item. My question back was how could my $900 dishwasher compare to the low end GE in the store. I was told they did not have to replace the original item just find a comparable item and offer that amount.
How in the world can a $900 dishwasher be comparable to a low end GE??? I was so furious I could barely speak. I have been without the dishwasher for 3 weeks because I refuse to settle for less than what I had. I am looking into taking them to small claims court. This warranty program approved by Sears is a total rip off. DO NOT EXPECT TO RECEIVE REPLACEMENT OF YOUR ORIGINAL PURCHASE IF IT GOES BAD.

Since I married over 34 years ago I have only bought my appliances from Sears. They have all lasted years. The customer service was wonderful and they stood behind their products. That's no longer true. I ordered a dishwasher in July and it was delivered while I was at work, so I had someone else here to accept delivery. I had paid to have it set up and the packaging taken away. When I got home the young lady who'd been here for delivery was upset because she had felt intimidated by one of the delivery men. My husband was when more upset because he'd made her cry.
He'd tried to get her to agree to having them leave it in the box and stood close asking her repeatedly if she was sure she wanted it set up and to sign saying it was delivered properly. She kept saying they should do what the slip said I'd paid for. After they left she noticed the bottom left Side was popped out of place and she put it back before I got home. Looking it over I noticed a dent in the door. This was a brand new item and I expected it to look new. I called and complained and was given a discount and another dishwasher was ordered to be sent without a problem. I felt the apology was sincere. At that time I said, several times I did not ever want those guys back at my home. I was told it was put on my account and they wouldn't be sent again.
Just before the delivery date of the second dishwasher, which was two weeks after my call, I got a call saying it would be another week before they could deliver due to the factory not having enough of that model and Sears was waiting to get more from them. Yeah, right. The delivery guys get here with the second new dishwasher and they are great. In and out in minutes, set up, hauled away the packaging, nice. They leave. Next day I used the dishwasher and was surprised at how cheaply the dishwasher was made. I had to do half the dishes by hand after they went through the machine. I used it a second time getting the same results. Everything about it was cheap. The racks came off track without pulling hard, no upper spray arm, the heated wash did not heat the water.
I called wanting to exchange it for a more expensive model fully willing to pay the difference in price. I was told I was a couple days out from the return period and would have to pay a 15% restocking fee to exchange it. As far as I was concerned the refund period started when the second dishwasher was delivered three days before. I had not used the dented one so had no way of knowing what it was like. It was not due to me the dishwasher stay unused so long. After talking to several people I got a wonderful woman who listened to me and let me buy the more expensive one without the fee. Once again I was taken care of with respect. (Had to keep going up the chain the second time.)
This morning the third dishwasher gets here and the delivery guy looks a lot like the description I'd been given by the young lady who'd been so afraid of him and the same guys who'd not taken care to do their job right denting the first one. I wasn't feeling great, I'd worked until 2 am the night before, I was tired. They brought the dishwasher, took the crappy one, I tipped them, signed and they left. I didn't look the dishwasher over just went back to lay down as the plumber knocked on the door. I was busy all morning after that and it wasn't until later I went to look at the dishwasher. THE LEFT SIDE WAS DENTED IN!!!
I called Sears to find out if they had sent the same delivery people as I suspected they had. I was told they didn't have that kind of info. "Don't you pay them" I asked? Then you have a record. "We don't give out that info. You can't talk to them." I don't want to talk to them or even know who they are. I just want to know if it was the same people. The answer to the question would be yes or no. That's all. She put me on hold then comes back and tells me she has no record of who delivered it. I asked to be transferred to someone who could tell me. She paused a second and said "No."
When I asked her what she meant she said "No it wasn't the same guys." Now which is it, there's no way to know that information or she can suddenly see on her screen it wasn't the same people? During all this she's pushing a $50 gift certificate on me trying to get me to tell her where I wanted it sent. Then she asked if I was okay with the dishwasher. I told her I didn't know and had to think it over as by now I was angry at being lied to and then them trying to trick me into committing to the dented item they'd delivered. I told her I'd have to call back with an answer. This has all happened today.
I talked to the person, who'd been here for the original delivery, comparing notes on the descriptions of the delivery men, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least the same one that tried to intimidate her that day. It's beyond me to understand why a company with a solid reputation for so long would revert to such business practices. Earlier this year I replaced my twelve year old dryer, that I'd gotten at Sears new, with one from Sears with no problems. The quality is good and it's solid. I'm sure I'll have it for years. I'm still using the washer and fridge I bought at the time of the original dryer. I've got my gas stove from Sears that's over twenty years old.
All of those appliances still work perfectly and are cosmetically fine. A simple part went out on the washer a couple months ago and we got the part from Sears to replace it ourselves. I need a chest freezer soon, but honestly I'm not sure I want to buy it from Sears. I'm really shocked at what's happened to what was once a great store where one didn't have to worry at all about the product or service. I'm still shocked at how poor the quality of the original dishwasher was.

I called Sears two times and spoke with someone at their customer support Center about the issues I was having with the dishwasher. It is not cleaning the silverware at all. When I take the knives out of the dishwasher, they have a black sticky substance on them that they did not have on them when I put them in the dishwasher. It is very hard to get off. The upper rack slides out every time you open the dishwasher and there is no way to adjust it to keep this from happening. This is SO frustrating because you have to hold the upper rack in with one hand while you put the dirty dishes in with the other hand or take the clean dishes out. It is really maddening.
I got no help from the support people at all. Their response about the black gunk was that I needed to run the water in the sink until it was very hot before I started the dishwasher each time!!! This is ridiculous and it also did nothing to correct the problem. As for the upper rack issue, they said there was no way to adjust it to make that stop. We purchased a Sears Kenmore Elite Dishwasher in December 2014 for around $1,000 and thank God we purchased the extended warranty. This dishwasher has now leaked 4 time. The first incident occurred on September 8, 2014. The water flowed from the dishwasher through our breakfast room then through the living, damaging our hardwood floors in the living room on its way out the back door. According to the repairman the clamp that the manufacturer uses on the pump is a faulty clamp. He replaced the clamp with a standard clamp. Well lo and behold, the dishwasher leaked again one month later to the day. This time I was lucky enough to catch it before it ran all the way through the house.
Well we had another incident (3rd) again where I did not catch it time and the water followed the same path as the first leak. Now we are fighting with Sears, Whirlpool (manufacturer of dishwasher) and the extended warranty company, Sedgwick, over getting our flooring in the kitchen, breakfast room, living/dining room, laundry room and hallway. They are saying that there is nothing wrong with product. I will let all our friends and family know to NEVER purchase a Sears product again. Then to add insult to injury, the dishwasher leaked for a 4th time last night. I want this dishwasher out of my home but probably will have to fight tooth and nail to get a replacement for it...the dishwasher won't be Sears, Whirlpool, or Kenmore product.

I told technician this information. His diagnosis is I need motor for a cost of 337.73. I just paid 598.00 1 year ago. This dishwasher is just weeks over 1 year old so out of warranty. Call Kenmore customer service to complain and the most they are authorized to do is 65.00 credit or 20% credit on service. No more Kenmores for me. Very aggravated that they cannot make an appliance that will stand up for more than a year.

My new Kenmore Elite Dishwasher 665.13964K017 was delivered on 1/4/2013. In late 2014, before the 2 year warranty ended, I experienced a leak that almost ruined my kitchen cabinets and floor. I discovered this only because the leak caused the breaker to trip when the water reached the power cord, under the dishwasher. The leak was caused because a pinch clamp (the kind that is commonly used with PEX tubing) was used to clamp a hose to the main water pump under the dishwasher. The pinch clamp leaked because it was the wrong size for the hose being clamped. Although the clamp was clamped to the maximum limit of its travel, it was still too big for the hose being clamped. I consider this a design or manufacturing error. As an aside, I also noticed that the pump was lying on the floor, even when hooked up. I cannot imagine that having the pump touch the floor is consistent with good design or installation guidelines.
I called Sears warranty service and was told that they had no record of my having purchased the $800+ dishwasher and so could not help me. I told them that I have the receipt and can thus prove when I purchased the dishwasher. They said they would do some research and would call me back. You guessed it, they never called. I resigned myself to having to fix the problem. After all, it was just an incorrect application of a clamp; one that I thought I could replace easily myself, with a better fitting clamp.
But because the area, around the hose, where the clamp was installed, is narrow, I could not simply replace the pinch clamp with a standard hose clamp (which is somewhat wider). I had to find a 5/16" wide hose clamp that would compress the hose properly. Much to my chagrin, I had to call and/or visit thirteen plumbing supply houses, hardware stores, etc., before I found such a specialized clamp. I was able to dry the cabinet, dry and seal the floor, install the properly sized clamp, and reinstall the dishwasher. Now, nine months later, I have a blown control board. A new one costs $151, plus shipping, at Sears Parts Direct. Fortunately, I can replace this myself. I imagine that, if I had to pay for repairs, for the leak and the now blown circuit board, I could have purchased a better dishwasher instead.
In the forty years since I bought my first house (I'm now in my third), I think I have bought four refrigerators, three ranges, three clothes washers, three clothes dryers, three dishwashers, countless mowers and other yard equipment, an air conditioner, numerous vacuums, many small kitchen appliances, many beds, tires, tools galore and many more items than I don't have room to list here. This habit of shopping at Sears for all my major home purchases was handed down to me by my parents who trusted the quality and relied on the service Sears provided during my childhood. Unfortunately, those days are gone.
Sears has lost interest in quality in their continued focus on making more and more profit. I used to hate the thought of the Sears, closest to me, closing due to the proliferation of big box stores that compete with them now. But now, I think I've made my last major purchase at Sears. Their stores are poorly staffed by people who are incentivized by commissions, their products are inferior and cost too much. Based on what I've read about Sears appliances, in particular, on this website, it appears to me that many others will also be buying their appliances elsewhere.

We purchased a brand new home with an installed Kenmore Elite dishwasher. Soon after moving in we noticed that the dishwasher had a garbage odor after just a day or two of loading dishes. Although the manual said we did not have to, we thoroughly rinse all dishes and silverware before putting them in the machine. We checked the filters - nothing except a small amount of water. We did not use Jet Dry as we had never had to use it with our old dishwashers.
We called for service and the repair person, after barely looking at the machine, said the problem stems from a change in manufacture from a single, larger motor, to three smaller motors to accommodate more room consumers want for cookie sheets and pots and pans. The smaller motors do not remove all water, leaving a residue and leading to odor. He suggested using Tang (yes, the drink mix!) a couple times a month that deodorizes the machine with citric acid and buying Jet Dry to use with every wash. He said ALL dishwashers are made this way and have the same problem. Not sure we believe this. Sears called a few days later about the service call and when told what the tech did (did not) do and said, tried to talk us into an extended warranty. Will NOT buy another Sears dishwasher or maybe any other Sears product.

It worked for the next day and then went out again. After 10 service calls, the whole brains.. Switchboard being replaced 3 times, motors and wiring being replaced they still will not replace the unit. Each time I call they give me the run around and a different story on the requirements for replacement. 3 service calls in a 90 day period, 3 items being replaced, 3 of the same items being replaced, etc.
The last service tech I had out I had him call the store himself and find out what they want. He was told he had to deem it not repairable on the receipt and they would replace it. He did such as that and now, even after that I am being told they only cover it for 60 days I have to go through the mfg. After trying to get to management several times and being told that their customer solutions dept is the highest I can get, they will not transfer me to a manager. I purchased this Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher Model # 665.13203N411 from Sears in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 27, 2014 along with the 5 year protection agreement. Our kitchen was not completed until June 2015. Once the plumbing for our kitchen sink and drain line for the dishwasher was completed by a licensed plumber, we had both the plumber and the electrician install the dishwasher. Once installed, and "quick cycle" button pushed the machine began to smoke and immediately started "beeping" and "displaying numerous error codes" none of which are located anywhere in the use and care guide manual. I called 1-800-4-MY-HOME immediately and the female customer service representative said I would have to call back tomorrow.
I called the same number the following day and a service technician tried to help troubleshoot it via over the phone. Nothing he said to do was working. He put in a "service call" and said the repair technician would be out there June 8, 2015. A technician did arrive, but was scheduled for a "Maintenance check on a dishwasher" and was not a specialists so he could not even order the part he believed was defective. He said, "It looks like the control board is defective. I cannot order the part because this is not my specialty, but I can try to get someone else out here so they can order the part". He continued to inform me that the next available date someone could come out would be July 1, 2015.
I started calling for the next two weeks non-stop because 1) Had someone not sent the wrong type of technician out we would already be in the process of getting the appliance fixed 2) Waiting a full month for a technician just to look at it is ridiculous. I called customer service and was hung up on 3 times. I called back and asked for a supervisor, which never happened because then I got numerous excuses why a supervisor was not available. I called back and finally, FINALLY got a hold of a supervisor, as well as the store department manager to obtain repair services. So instead of waiting till July 1, 2015 another technician is scheduled to arrive June 13, 2015.
This technician arrives and immediately states that it isn't the machine, but our electrical. Now keep in mind, my house has been completely rewired by a licensed electrician, drains hooked up by a licensed plumber, and had a thorough inspection by the city inspector/code enforcement. This technician continues to inform me that 1) The entire house has no ground. 2) Each appliance is not supposed to be on its own breaker. 3) The Sears price for the control board is $600 plus an additional $400 which is a total of $1,000 dollars for a dishwasher I have already paid $569.99 for. But if I order the part online I can get it cheaper. And if I call my service technician personally, he can install it for me a lot cheaper than through Sears.
My issue with comment #1 is: If a current has no ground, then nothing will work; not the refrigerator, microwave, outlets, lights, or stove, but everything is working completely fine. Second, if I didn't have any ground, then how did his voltmeter manage to pick up current... As for comment #2: Per city building codes, we have to have each appliance on its own breaker due to fire hazards and/or malfunctions. And comment #3: So it is okay to personally promote oneself and make money on the side?
Not once during this service call did he ever remove the dishwasher door face. Not once did he even attempt to acknowledge that this machine was newly installed nor did he even once consider manufacturer defect. I also have his personal phone number if you'd like, but do not feel comfortable listing this as it is personal information. So my husband and I pulled the door face off and tested the entire control board. Everything in the control board has electrical continuity except the capacitors. The 3 capacitors within the control board had popped/expanded. The rest of the control board is testing fine. Now I find it very sad that a man who claims he is a "professional" whom has "taken numerous electrical courses" cannot even remove the door face and test the board he claims is bad.
I spent a total of $3,861.09 with Sears for all my appliances and the majority of the costs were attributed to the extended protection plans. I will be canceling the protection plans seeing as how they don't actually cover anything. I am highly disappointed with the lack of service I received, as well as the run around and complete waste of my time spent on waiting for incompetent people. I will fix the machine for a total of $30 on my own because the machine is new, but I am currently looking for a replacement dishwasher elsewhere.

Bought Sears Kenmore Ultra wash Pro Model 665.1317 dishwasher in 2009. Purchased extended warranty which ran out 2015. Had several issues with racks rusting. Sears replaced them. Consistent issue is that this is a stainless steel appliance and the front of the dishwasher has about 1/2 inch line from top to bottom also has what appears to be finger smudges all over it. Sears replaced the door in 2011 after several service calls, and all the repair guys did was try to rub it out and said I had to deal with it. It is obviously a defect in the stainless product used in manufacturing this model, which I have found out is made by Whirlpool.
I have other stainless steel appliance that are older not Kenmore brand that look new. I paid too much for this dishwasher to have it appear to be dirty with smudges and a line through it. All I would like is Kenmore to replace the front panel. They have again said it's out of warranty now and was only covered the first year, yet they replaced in 2011? I would never buy anything in Sears again.

They called on the Friday morning to tell me that was changed to between 1 and 4 pm. The haul away did not happen. My washer is on the curb in front of our house. Installer shows up at rental property and calls me to say they need to install shot off valve. It will cost an extra 150.00 or they can leave the dishwasher and you can have your own plumber install it. I call this taking advantage of the situation. I had my tenant pay the extra 150.00 and decided I would deal with Sears later.
Now here comes the fun part. I call Sears customer service. All I can say is wow. They seem nice enough once you finally get someone on the phone but no one has any ability to make any kind of decision at all. I was told my issue was being sent to issue resolution and I would receive a call back within 24-48 hours. Well that time came and went and I received no call. So back on the phone getting switched from case manager to supervisor and still no answer. I finally was able to get HNS and Sears on the phone at the same time to talk about the extra 150.00 they charged. Sears said this was a standard fee charged by HNS and HNS said this was a fee that Sears developed for the Valve install service. I will not buy anything from Sears again.

I'm a recent new home owner. 2 years ago I bought 4 brand new Kenmore elite appliances. I bought a washer, dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator. So far in the last month I've already had 2 service calls, 1 for the dishwasher, and 1 for the washer. The dishwasher service call was placed because the top rack of the dishwasher broke apart and crashed onto the lower rack. When the service technician came out he said, "this happens all the time, I'm constantly fixing these racks." We had to pay out $75. And couldn't use our dishwasher for a week.
The service call for the washing machine was placed because the washer kept going into "unbalanced" error code. One day while running it, it went unbalanced and then shut off. There was no power running to it, couldn't reset it or anything. Plus the washer "locked" so I couldn't even get my wet clothes out of the washer. When the service technician came out he said that this is the new norm and appliances don't last like they use to. The technician also said that the control board failed and needs to be replaced. That's now costing me $63 for the service call and places my washing machine out of service for 2 weeks. Bottom line, don't buy Kenmore elite appliances. They are not ELITE. If you do make sure you get an extended service plan. Kenmore elite warranty is only good for 1 year, maybe they know that after the one year the appliances start falling apart.

I got called by NHS to install it (which I was never told there would be a third party installing it) and they set up a date. I waited all day and called several times, no answer to my calls and no show!! These appliances were installed in a summer home and have had very little use in 2 years. I called Sears repair and they estimate the cost to repair the dishwasher at from $150 to $250 depending on what is causing the valve to stay open. I paid over $700 for the dishwasher with installation and probably used it a total of 50 times. I called Sears Repair to look at a problem with the electric panel on my dish washing machine. The dishwasher works fine, but the panel turns itself on and off when I'm not using it for dish washing. When on, it makes a pinging noise until it turns itself off, then goes quiet. This cycle continues and has been going on for some time. I made an appointment with Sears repair and was told to stay in all day from 8 to 5. I called at 8 am to find out if they knew when the repairman might come. There was no record of my appointment. However, they said they could send someone over later in the day. This man came and took the dishwasher apart. Fiddled a bit with the opening latch. Put it all back together. Lost a screw and spent some time looking for it. Then couldn't connect with the computer in his van so had to reboot his system, which took another 15 mins. Told me it would all work properly, and charged me $139.
Ten minutes after he left, the panel came on and the pinging started up again. Next repairman took the whole dishwasher apart and said I needed three parts for a total of $99. He will return to put these parts in in a week or so. He may be right about all these parts being needed or not. Meanwhile, today I noticed that the dishwasher was looking lopsided and upon inspection, the door is broken at the bottom where it screws in, so that the screw cannot hold it up on one side. Either repairman no. I or no. 2 is responsible for this as it was perfect before they came.
Now $238 out of pocket, I wonder what this is going to cost.... perhaps a new door will be needed? Added to this, the first repairman chatted in a friendly manner but didn't seem to know what he was doing. The second one was taciturn and even rude when I asked questions. I understood the delivery (free for orders over $400.00) and installation of the dishwasher would be the following Saturday, March 21, 2015. That was the date that was established when the order was placed and I was very clear with the Sears on-line service agent that the order was contingent on the March 21st installation date. I had expected to hear from Sears Service sometime on Friday, March 20th, but never did. On Saturday morning I called Sears Service to get a delivery time only to discover that I had not been scheduled for the installation that day and was in fact scheduled for some time in mid-April. In a subsequent call to Sears Service I understood that I was to be rescheduled for delivery and installation of the dishwasher on Wednesday March 25.
On Wednesday, March 25, I was to finally get a dishwasher installed. But again, I had not heard from Sears regarding an approximate time and they were to have called the day before. So with some trepidation I called Sears Service. Cheers!! I was told that installation was scheduled between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. I was also given the name and telephone number of the appliance installation company. Hard to believe, but when I called them I was told that my installation had just been cancelled by Sears. What?! How can that be, I had just confirmed with Sears 5 minutes earlier.
I called Sears Service back only to be told that I would have to start the process again. The dishwasher had not been picked up by the installer as I had assumed, but was waiting on some loading dock for pick-up. (Evidently the on-line agent was not concerned with the free delivery aspect of Sears advertised offer.) With no assurance they would get it right on a third attempt to deliver and schedule the installation of the dishwasher, I decided to cancel. When I talked to Sears On-Line Service, I was told that charges would be refunded in three to five business days. On day 6, I'm still waiting!!
I must say, I have never had such a bad experience with another merchandise/service vendor as I have had this time with Sears. In the past I had always ordered my appliances through Sears and always trusted Sears to be a great American company. That perception has certainly changed with all the problems I encountered with this transaction.

I called the service department only to hear "I understand, I am sorry, I can schedule a service call, and you can buy maintenance plan"... how ridiculous!!! Clearly we got a faulty product and Kenmore is not standing behind their products.
I have NEVER paid so much money on a dishwasher and had to have it repaired so soon! Why should I pay a high cost to repair an item only after 15 months of owning it! I have shoes that last longer!! Very disappointed in Kenmore products!!! I will never purchase Kenmore nor would I recommend them to anyone! In fact I will make every effort to share with as many people as possible how terrible of a product Kenmore is and how bad of a service I received. Nobody will care about your "fake" high ratings!!

We bought our Kenmore Elite in May 2013. Today we got the F2E2 error code. We called Sears and were told that we have to replace the control panel and we were outside the manufacturer's warranty. We were also advised that we could not transfer the warranty we purchased. The salesman sold the warranty to us with the promise it can be transferred to any of the 4 appliances we purchased that day. We then looked online and figured out that the dishwasher is probably leaking. My husband looked and the entire pump has come off and has been leaking underneath the dishwasher.

I purchased a Sears Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 13963 (665.13963K017) 23 months ago (March 2013). Last week it started leaking. Called Sears for service and the service person was great. But what he told us was not great. He indicated that the reason for the leaking was that Sears was using a known-defective hose clamp that was known to loosen and allow leaking. He indicated that Sears has known about this for a long time and has never acknowledged the problem. There has never been a recall. But this known-defective hose clamp was not the originally used clamp (which was better quality) and that Sears has recently decided to go back to using the original hose clamp that never loosened and leaked (original GOOD hose clamp part number = 665-W10548433).
And to add insult to injury - or is that to add injury on top of injury - Sears charged me labor to fix a problem due to a known-defective part that could have resulted in massive damage to my kitchen floor. I have used Sears Kenmore appliances my whole life, and I will NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE ANY SEARS APPLIANCE. I cannot do business with any organization that shows such contempt and disregard for their customers. NO MORE!!!

Well, now, as of May 2015, history has repeated itself. All over again. The upper rack adjuster and runner assembly of this dishwasher is made of cheap and flimsy plastic and it just broke. Just looking at the design and construction of the upper rack adjustment assembly, it was immediately apparent to me that this was a super cheap plastic injection molded part that was going to fail quickly. The repair tech told me that this was a known problem, that Sears knew all about it but never acknowledged it, but did come up with a retro-fit repair kit (kit # W10712394 Adjuster) that is made of steel and heavy plastic that is based on an older and known-successful design. Why do they not use this part in new construction? Simple. Because it is made of steel and heavy plastic and uses real screws and bolts to install, so it is more expensive to make and takes more time to install than a cheap plastic slap-on part.
So the bottom line is that Sears is making and selling expensive appliances using known defective parts and designs in order to save up-front money, and then fixing these issues while charging their loyal customers a LOT of money to do so. The tech also told me that virtually all of these types of dishwashers have their electronic control panels fail in their 3rd year or so, that it costs around $500 to replace these panels, and that this issue is also well known to Sears. And ignored.

Second machine failure repair October 30, 2014 and November 13, 2014. Third machine failure repair December 4, 2014 and December 15, 2014. Another machine failure on February 19, 2015. Each failure resulted in the machine not completing cycles until the December 4 failure when it just died. I made a demand for a replacement machine which was denied. The repair technician supported my request. After the denial, he replaced all the main electronic components and got it going again... until the latest failure.
Each repair request took 10 to 14 days to complete and if there were no parts available, they had to be shipped and a follow-up visit had to be scheduled, adding an additional 10 to 14 days. I had to be available all day for each repair visit. This model is defective as many have reported. It is manufactured by Whirlpool. It has not been successfully repaired. Sears did not stand behind the product and replace it. This purchase was a terribly expensive and very time consuming mistake by me. I will not be making the same mistake ever again. No more Kenmore or Whirlpool. Never.

This is the cheapest and worst built appliance I have ever encountered. The parts are mostly plastic and began falling off within months of purchase. The water continues to pool in the tub and now it won't drain at all. I've read reviews and I see that it seems to be a very common problem. Many people have had property damages that have cost them 3-4 times what the dishwasher cost them. Why has Sears not issued a recall on the dishwasher? I think a class action lawsuit would be the next logical step. Don't buy Sears appliances!!!

Sigh. This is our 3rd dishwasher in 10 years. This time, we ponied up and bought the Kenmore Elite, figuring that we'd have no issues for years. Wrong. After just over 2 years, it stopped emptying. I bought the part, put it in (drain motor), and it worked fine. Check box for handy husband. About a month later, we noticed our floor starting to buckle. We blamed the flooring. It got worse, and sure enough, there was a steady trickle coming from the dishwasher. This time, through the motor, and was a bad sump seal. I figured - no prob, I'll buy a new seal!
Nope. Gotta buy the whole sump assembly. For a .25 seal. I did that, and it didn't ship until almost a month later. So here I am, trying to replace the sump, and I'm just mad enough to write a review. I don't normally do this, but I am pissed. If they're defective, recall them. If they suck, stop selling them. If I knew Whirlpool made them, I wouldn't have bought it. No more Whirlpool, no more Kenmore. New flooring required. Thanks, Kenmore/Sears! Hope it works when I'm done.

How can this be happening to everyone who buys this dishwasher (Kenmore elite dishwasher 665*) and Sears still doesn't have a recall!?! My kitchen counter walls are ruined from soaking all the HOT water the pump drained onto the floors. The ceiling tiles in the basement have water stains as well. Roughly $1000 in damages. I had a plumber look at the problem and he showed me the pipe that needed to be replace but funny thing Sears doesn't sell just the pipe - you have to buy the HOLE SUMP assembly ($100 service call).
Upon receiving the new assembly I decided to replace it myself instead of paying a plumber. (2 yrs old out of warranty by 2 months!) When successfully changing the old part with the new one I clenched my teeth and turn the machine on. IT WORKED!!! Well for 2 minutes then the house flooded once again. I found that the pump motor was the issue this time. Brand new. Out of the box. Just bought it a week ago for $280. I immediately phoned Sears to complain and was told that I have to send back the part explaining to the factory it MAY be defective. Yes it’s freaking defective!!
Then Sears told me that in order to get my money back the factory has to deem the part defective. WHAT!! And it could take a month of testing the product for issues. If the factory tests are not conclusive that the part is defective I do not get my money back. This is ridiculous and I will never buy from Sears again. (Kenmore/Whirlpool/Samsung are all the same parts just different labels.) Total $$ spent: Kenmore Elite Dishwasher - $750, Installation - $150, Damages to house from water - $1000, New Sump Assembly to fix the problem - $280. Total - $2180.00. Oh and I still don't have a dishwasher. Thanks Sears/Kenmore!!

I couldn't be more upset with Sears. I purchased a Kenmore Elite (we all learned from our parents. Buy Kenmore, Sears stands behind their product). Obviously it doesn't apply anymore. 1 month after warranty expired it stopped working. Sears’ repairman came and realized the unit was leaking. Rubber hose came off pump. Caught it in time to not flood house. Less than a month later the top rack fell down. The plastic wheel broke off. Sears did nothing to help. A short time later the sprayer arm totally melted off. Filling the unit with smoke and the house like melting plastic. It woke us up at night, thinking our house was on fire. Again Sears was no help. Oh sorry they offered me a $100 off another unit. Mine was 14 months old. But they wanted me to buy another.
Today again the protective metal covering the spray arm was found on bottom of dishwasher. This dishwasher is a lemon. Sears knows it; Whirlpool knows it. They just don't care. Sears is not the company it once was. Whirlpool should know better than to use plastic with a high heat source. But I guess it's cheaper, right? Both companies have lost a customer. One by one these companies will lose clients, loyal clients. That will be their demise.

We called for service and before the technician could arrive, it stopped working completely. A technician arrived on December 31st and determined that it needed a new part. On January 8th, another technician arrived and realized that the incorrect part had been ordered. He then ordered the correct part and set up an appointment for January 17th. On January 17th, we were told that the part was back-ordered and would not arrive until February 13th. Sears would not even help us until the part was back-ordered for 28 days.
Due to the wrong part being ordered originally, we are only at 9 days when we should be at 18 days. This entire situation is completely unacceptable. This is a brand new dishwasher and it has not worked now for a month. It will be at least another month before it will be fixed and who knows if that will happen at that time. Upon inspection of the DW, a nut holding the heating element appeared to have melted around the heating element. DW apparently got too hot. Thank goodness we were awakened by the smell or the house may have burnt down. I called Sears and Whirlpool (the manufacturer of the unit) and neither of them seemed concerned about the potential loss of life or home and is going to charge me a service and repair fee even though the DW is only 6 weeks past warranty. I purchased a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher several years ago (Model #665.13102K902). I want to make buyers aware of a problem I have had with this dishwasher that began after I owned it for about 1 year. The control panel that appears to be one solid unit has circles that state the various cycles you can select - such as Smart Wash, Pots Pans, Normal Wash etc. all the way across. These circular tabs keep coming loose and falling off. There are 12 cycles to select and 5 have fallen off and 3 more are very loose. I have tried using superglue to reattach but they won't stay. It's very difficult to remember what the tabs originally were so I have to look it up in the manual. Not to mention cosmetically it's very ugly. Underneath is silver metal so not attractive. I have attached images because it is a difficult problem to explain.
The dishwasher functions but obviously the quality of this panel is very low. It is past the warranty period but would not have been covered under warranty anyway. I have called the warranty department and they said I would have to pay for the trip charge and parts. I cannot even explain how something like this could happen. We do nothing more than push the buttons when turning on the dishwasher. Apparently, doing so over time has made them fall off. I either have to live with it or pay a bunch of money to have it replaced. There is no guarantee the same thing would not happen again. I will never buy a Kenmore appliance again.

We called and turns out Sears laid off all their technicians and was using new subcontractors.
The call centre person said our experience was very common. The call centre staff also indicated that she was being laid off in 3 weeks. We very angrily called the store, Sears corporate etc. We were told that we could rebook, but that honestly, this might happen again. Sears kept trying to use the excuse that the techs were subcontractors (which is only because they laid off their own staff).
Finally, someone comes a couple weeks later and looks for 30 seconds and identifies that I need this one little plastic piece I'd told them I needed when I initially called. It was out of stock. He told me it would be in and they would call by June 25th. July 16th, they finally called and set an appointment for August 5th, 12-4 pm. They didn't show. We called again and complained up to corporate customer service. They told us that someone would be by that evening. No show.
August 6th in the evening out of the blue, a guy shows up, installs little plastic piece in less than 90 seconds. He was a very nice guy, said he will never work for Sears again. I would strongly recommend avoiding Sears at all costs. And certainly never buy the extended warranty. Hilariously in the middle of all this, they called to sell it to me. I laughed at them. I purchased a dishwasher from Sears with their warranty. Not long after, it stopped working, so we called to get a technician come to our home. We wait 3 weeks for this. He shows up and accidentally pulls a hose off the dishwasher while it was still installed under our counter, and it gushes water into and under the floors, down behind our walls, and into the basement. The technician who was in no rush at all to get the dishwasher out to stop the leak, gets my husband to fill out a damages kit. He fails to use the camera in the kit to take pictures of the damage done, and does not leave us a copy, or a receipt of any kind of his visit to our house.
We were left with no paper record of anything. He says we will be contacted in two days and leaves the dishwasher sitting on my patio. My husband calls Sears customer service to report the incident. We are told from that point on until now, after many, many phone calls that we will be contacted. We have been told that we will have someone to come out to take pictures, that the tech should have taken pictures, that the tech still hasn't sent the report, etc, etc, by a bunch of French Canadians who don't give a rip about you, that you can barely understand.
We amazingly get the executive phone numbers to Sears, which I will be happy to share with anyone who wants it. My husband calls the CEO. We did get a phone call back that time. The executive that calls us back says he is going to take care of this directly. Great. He schedules us a 'service' appointment to have the pictures taken and our dishwasher reinstalled. It was for Aug 31st. We come home early from my summer holidays for our appointment. Guess what? No show. Seriously. We call the executive dealing with us. He says our appointment had been re-scheduled in another three and a half weeks. We had received no phone call to inform us of that. THAT WOULD MAKE US BEING WITHOUT OUR DISHWASHER FOR THREE MONTHS. I HAVE THREE KIDS, NOT TO MENTION THE WATER THAT IS NOW BECOMING TOXIC UNDER MY FLOORS AND IN MY WALLS. My husband refuses to wait longer, and we are told that he is going to contact the regional manager to deal with it - yep, no call back. Go figure. When the head honchos of a big corporate company like Sears don't perform any better than their employees, it explains a lot. I'm taking them to small claims court.

Very unhappy that after having my Kenmore dishwasher for a little over a year, I have had same complaints and problems as other people on this site. From first week, loads ran for extended lengths of time greater than 3 hrs. The dishwasher has never dried dishes well. Top rack always would fall off track and was a danger. Here we are a year later after the purchase of this middle of the line dishwasher and it has been making a sound similar to a few beans in a coffee grinder. And now my wall in kitchen and my carpet/padding adjacent to dishwasher must be replaced due to a leak under this dishwasher from one of the plastic parts and not a hose. I guess after reading all the similar complaints, we are going to cut our loss and go with a different washer. Sure didn't expect to buy a new one again this soon.

I installed a 24 Kenmore ULTRA WASH Dishwasher in December 2012 and have had poor performance issues ever since the installed for 19 months of operation. I have been a Sears customer for my home appliances for the past 20 years. I will probably never purchase a Sears product again. Performance Summary:
SPRAY WAND: Spray wand for bottom tray collides with a standard 11 diameter dish. Plates have to be tilted to avoid collision when loaded. DRAIN HOSE ORIENTATION: Drain hose connect is not oriented for different drain locations. Typically on most dishwashers, the drain connection faces front of the dishwasher so the customer can route left or right depending their drain location. This unit was facing left, so I had to route the connection hose to the back side of the unit to prevent kinking in order to connect to my drain located on right side of the unit. This created difficult to connect and set arrangement for install and poses a blockage threat and make it difficult to service. The whole unit must be removed in order to service the hose due to this poor design.
DRAIN PERFORMANCE: Poor drain performance. After installing the unit did not drain completely even though the drain filter was clean. In 19 months of operation, the unit does not drain properly and poses a sanitation threat. I am currently manually bilging out the drain sump with cups. DRYING OF DISHES: Dishes do not dry properly and are left with a slippery finish upon removal even the pump was fully operational. The drying agent dispenser remains at a proper level for months. Possibly the drying agent dispenser in this unit is not operating properly.
CONTROLS (Cancel/Drain): There is a manual drain operation button. It is combination button for cancel or drain. Combo function button are cheap way to reduce costs of fabrication. This feature is a very poor choice since cancel is such an important function. The user has to wait a period time is selected before one can manually drain or restart. Furthermore, since the control panel is a hidden unit, it relies on the door being close to initiate the desired action. Then can cause confusion and make it difficult to clear if done out of sequence and will make restarting the cycle to wash problematic. It takes over 30 seconds or more so you have to wait around. If you push it again the process starts over again. My wife and I have messed each other up several times and had great difficulty restarting the unit after we walked away to some other task. This caused us to miss a night time run and have no clean dishes in the morning on several occasions. Bad and cheap design. Needs dedicated cancel and drain switch.
CONTROLS (Display): The hidden display is ok but there is no visible indicator where you are in the cycle. If want to break the cycle to add or remove an item you have three seconds to close door to resume the cycle. Hopefully, you don't get phone call or request for someone in the house or you will have big mess resuming the cycle or you have to start the cycle all over.
CYCLE TIME: Typical normal wash with heated dry cycle takes about 4 hours. Way too long. CONTROLS (Manual Drain): I have never seen a manual drain button on a dishwasher. Most units have a sensor to automatically drain the sump at the beginning of the cycle if not fully purge. This leaves me to believe there is something inherently wrong with the drain design. The first part of the Use and Care Guide recommends cleaning the drain filter once a month. Since when is typical to have to clean the drain filter in other dishwashers? They have another whole section on the number of loads per week and frequency of filter cleaning. You would think it's a service requirement for a car. Sure I'll track how many loads I have done a month! Not practical.
SEARS SERVICE: My drain pump is out of service in 17 months of operation for family of 4. Seven cycles per week on average. I figure 4 to 6 years of service for a typical appliance. I contacted Sears for a service call and/or to furnish a replacement drain pump for me to install. They gave me the following options: $59.00 - Site inspection of unit to determine the problem; $204.99 - Extended 1 yr Warranty: Cover up to $500 max repair cost Free site visit; $187.00 Replacement drain pump; $142.00 Replacement Cycle Selection Switch (required per the phone operator).
So it will cost me $329 to do myself or $204.99 for Sears to do for unit costing $427.32 I purchased 19 months ago. It does not make economic sense to repair this unit after the 1 warranty period. No wonder they push so hard at purchase for you buy the extended warranty. This manufacturer cannot statically guarantee no performance in the first few years of operation, since they would lose money on repairs. They have to sell the customer an extended warranty to cover themselves the first 3 years of operation. So much for quality. Do not purchase this product.

We purchased a new KitchenAid dishwasher from Sears last week. First, on delivery the truck driver drove over our new walkway damaging several pavers and cobble stones. Second, the dishwasher was installed (not by Sears) and started to leak around the pump housing after the second use. The leaks are not at the plumbing connections of the supply or drain line. Third, we called Sears for a repair appointment, only to find out that Sears never scheduled the appointment after I took a day off from work. Fourth, after a couple of hours on phone with Sears customer service and seven people later issues are not resolved to my satisfaction.
The best they could offer me was lame condescending apologies and a service appointment 5 days from now. I'm told I have a case manager but no one has contacted me. Also no one has contacted me about the property damage to the walkway. I've been tweeting SearsCares all morning, but again no help. I also just got of the phone with Lori, the most condescending and non empathetic person I have ever spoken with from another division of Sears customer service. Again was told that a case manager would be contacting me. I will never purchase from Sears again.

Three months later and we have a leak, damaged floor, and waiting for new parts. I called and told them we have a lemon and I want a new dishwasher. She told me they would have to come out to my home three to four times within the first three months to receive a new one. Could not believe it, but my husband gets on the phone and next thing you know, we are getting a new dishwasher. Not feeling good about it, I think it will fail too, after reading all the comments. Even the person I spoke to on the phone to set up the repair appointment knew exactly what the problem was without much explanation from me... I bought an extended warranty, as it costs about $200.00 every time I need a repair, and the technicians have said this will keep happening, just don't put very many dishes on the top rack. Great, the dishwasher cost about $800.00. It's broken twice and now we can only fully use half of it. What a disappointment.

I just spent the morning on the phone telling my story to many, I will say, well trained customer service people. I guess I know where the money is spent when you purchase crappy products that fall apart and stop working mysteriously as soon as the warranty is up. I am so unhappy at this point that our year old Kenmore dishwasher - expensive - and two year old chest freezer - that just decided to stop working - will be headed to the dump. Honestly, I was not even looking for much. Just wanted to see if we had a defective dishwasher... It needed a new motor in the first month. Should have been a clue. But I refuse to pay more money for agreements or service calls on a product which has been nothing but trouble... Parts fall off. It doesn't clean. It runs for hours. It's a safety concern. I truly hope that no one else has the same scary situation. I will be pursuing other options to make sure the safety issue is known.

I wish I would've replaced the entire unit. After only 11 months the electronic control board went out and it is essentially dead now. I called to see if there was anything they could do; at least give a discount on a new control board, but they said it was after the one year warranty. I had a retired technician come look at it who became angry himself at Sears and said it should last a lot longer than that. I emailed Sears but never got a response. I put it back together but it happened again few days later. A call to Sears and I was told only a one year warranty applied & I was past that time. Long story short, a year later, the wheels & track system disintegrated, so to use the rack I have to reach inside without pulling the rack out. Huge disappointment for a $1400 dishwasher!!! I have been attempting to be compensated for damage to my family room carpeting, bamboo kitchen floor, underlayment and subfloor, mold mitigation, repair to cabinet surrounding the dishwasher. In November 2012, my dishwasher sprang a leak and flooded my kitchen. However, I was unaware of the problem until my floating bamboo floor started warping and my cabinets had water stains and water was in the cabinet next to my dishwasher. I had a Sears repairman come in and repair the dishwasher. At the time, he told me that the damage would be covered by my extended warranty. Since he told me that I didn't put in a claim to my Nationwide Insurance. However, based on a request made by Whirlpool to have my home owner's insurance evaluate the amount of damage done from the flooding.
I have spent the last 11 months trying to get either Whirlpool or Sears to pay for the damage. I had to continually contact each company weekly or bi-weekly to find out what was going on. Since I am a senior citizen, I don't have a lot of extra income to pay for all of the necessary repairs. I needed them to pay at least part of the damage. I have been refused by both companies. The Sears representative said that since my appliance was 8 1/2 years old and my prior repair was done in Nov. of 2011 and I hadn't replaced my hoses, they were refusing my claim. However, the company didn't decline my extended warranty payments each year.
I am totally disgusted with both companies. What is insurance for if not to protect us from accidents or problems? I had to contact him since he told me that someone else was going to take his place and I hadn't received any correspondence from anyone else. At first I thought that he was very cooperative and professional, but as time went on and I still didn't have any satisfaction, I changed my mind. I have been a customer of Sears for decades and have purchased many appliances for both myself and my income properties. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance or purchase ANYTHING from Sears again.

Sears has gone downhill. It no longer believes in providing customer service and following through on commitments. It will do anything to make a sale, but then treats the customer like dirt after the cash register has rung. Sears broke several promises, and then refused to make a prompt refund. I bought a Kenmore Elite 12783 dishwasher from Sears and paid them to deliver and install it. The installation date, which was five days after the sale, was printed on the receipt. The day before the scheduled installation, the company Sears had contracted with to do the job called and said it was booked for my scheduled day and would have to do it another time.
Other stores have procedures that prevent them from overbooking installations, even when they contract with other companies, so why can't Sears? Sears would do the same if it cared about its customers. I had already asked to take the day off, so this was a problem. I called the Sears 1-800 customer care number and was put on hold for a long time, because of unusually heavy call volume, which is code for "we don't think your time is valuable". When I finally got through to someone, I was told that Sears would have another company install it the next day, as originally promised. But that company didn't show up either.
I called the salesman, who gave me the runaround. He didn't seem to care that I had lost a days work because of their broken promise. Several hours later, he admitted that the dishwasher wouldn't be installed as promised. I then asked him for a refund. He told me it would take several days because they had to verify that I didn't have the dishwasher, even though he had admitted that it wouldn't be delivered that day. Several days later, I'm still waiting for a refund, washing dishes by hand.

I had two visits from a "repair man" - both times he was sent out without the correct part. The part is now on order and might be in a week from now... or might not. I will never, ever buy Kenmore again. Even as I'm angrily telling them I don't want to hear about service plans, they read on with a pitch for a new service plan. The guy who came to fix it said what was wrong with ours was a common problem with that brand and they've since fixed it. If that is the case, why didn't we get a letter from Sears about fixing it for us (like a recall)? A company with this approach to customers should not survive.

We called Sears in hopes that they would want to keep a long term customer happy and replace this lemon, but got transferred to 5 different customer service people, most of them trying to sell me an extended warranty. I told them I had no intention of giving Sears another penny if they weren't willing to stand behind their product. I was told there was nothing they could do since the 1 year warranty was over, even though the problem the dishwasher is having is the same repeat issue that was fixed the first year.
It’s hard to know if the repair people are incompetent, or if we just got a bad model, but I'm guessing from the comments that other Sears dishwasher customers have made that it’s a combination of both. It’s really sad to see a previously good company like Sears go downhill so dramatically in their quality and customer service. We purchased a Sears Kenmore Elite dishwasher in March 2012 and also purchased an extended warranty. The dishwasher stopped working in Dec. 2012. A Sears Home Services technician diagnosed the problem as water pump failure. The pump had been leaking for an unknown amount of time causing extensive water damage under the floor, cabinet bases and into the crawlspace under the house, etc. A Sears technician repaired the water pump and mentioned that it was a common problem with the water pumps in that model. The dishwasher including the water pump was manufactured by Whirlpool Corp. For our damage claim, Whirlpool Corp. legal dept. had several requests, including that we obtain two independent estimates for the damage.
Our home insurance did not cover the damage, but did recommend contractors for the estimates. We had two of those contractors do estimates, both had the damage amount as approximately $20,000. We submitted the estimates to Whirlpool Corp. legal dept. claims advisor Carry **. Ms. ** responded that Whirlpool Corp. would hire a third party independent adjuster to assess the loss. Eagle Adjusting Services conducted an estimate for Whirlpool Corp. On April 26, 2013, we received an email from Ms. ** with a Settlement and Release Agreement in the amount of $2,835.92. We requested and received a copy of the Eagle Adjusting Services estimate. So far, the entire process has taken from Dec. 18, 2012, when we scheduled the original repair to the present time. At this point, we feel that we are not in a position to contend with the Whirlpool Corp. legal dept. We would like advice about the best way to proceed.

Kenmore elite dishwasher - I discovered water leaking in my basement under my kitchen where the dishwasher is (water damage, yes). I checked out the dishwasher and removed the faulty part (IBC 7801 W10056349) which is mostly made of nylon. A nylon shaft part of this unit spins within a rubber-like seal. Over time, the seal wears a groove in the nylon causing the leak. No matter how many times this part is replaced, it will happen every time. Sears and the people who manufacture for them must know this. They sell this dishwasher knowing that it will leak and cause water damage. And to think I bought the Elite model because they say it was their best.

I originally purchased a Samsung dishwasher to match the refrigerator purchased at the same time from Sears last year; it was the President's Day Sale. We paid for delivery and installation, so that if there were any problems, Sears, being the big company with a good name (so I thought), would be held liable. Having said that, the installer (which I now learned, is a 1-man operation, with one helper, one rickety van and his wife answering and making rude calls for his personal business) is Independent Appliance Inc., Richard Savasta (President, VP, and with only one employee, public knowledge, and Corporate Sears should be aware since it is a lawsuit just waiting) and is the only subcontractor for Sears for dishwasher installation, for Staten Island, NY (which I find impossible to believe, especially since Hurricane Sandy).
Sears salespeople say that dishwasher installers are licensed plumbers that do the install and are professionals. Since last year, I had said installer Richard Savasta (now representing Sears) telling me within 5 min. (total) of him being in my home that the 24" standard fit Samsung dishwasher wouldn't fit, because Samsung makes that model an eighth of an inch larger in the back making it impossible to install. The dishwasher was not even brought into my home. This was told to me purely on all of the experience he had that he didn't even to attempt it. He didn't even remove the old dishwasher to see what kind of an area he was working with. Also as he fled out the door, he said that I would have to go back to back to the Sears store (where I purchased it) and order something else.
With an unusual twist, I would be unable to do so until the installer returned the dishwasher? With the manager of that floor being aware of this situation, my family and I returned to the store and were sold a Kenmore Elite (being it was priced much higher than the original purchase) only paying a $200 difference instead of of the bigger difference, for my troubles. If I only knew what was to come. It was installed and that was not until April of 2012. A box with a brand new dishwasher was never brought into my home, nor in fact did I ever see one nor was any paperwork left by the installers, stating that in fact they did the installation, nor were any phone calls made to anybody stating that they arrived and the job was completed as does any delivery, never mind installation of the appliance.
The dishwasher had a smell to it, like rotten eggs. Finally after doing research and many sanitary rinse cycles with recommended products, the smell went away. In early December 2012, the dishwasher broke. I called Sears, with the first appointment a no-show, no phone call, nothing. I called back to complain and reschedule. Three repair visits later, and a back-ordered part until after the holidays, Sears decided it was now time to replace my dishwasher with a brand new one. Being a household without a dishwasher all through the holidays, I didn't care at this point.
Sears with all of their various departments wore me out. Finally, a new dishwasher, or so I thought. As I waited patiently for the arrival of my new dishwasher, the doorbell rang. And much to my surprise, it was the same installer, Richard Savasta and the same assistant. They walked in, put their tools down, went outside and came back inside, without carrying in a new box properly padded with a brand new dishwasher in it. They went into their rickety van. I'm unsure if they even went into the back of van for 2 min. (I'll have to double check my surveillance cameras, which footage I would be more than happy to provide to someone to expose this scam/sham of a company which represents Sears). And they came back inside and said, you're never going to believe this, "But your dishwasher is damaged; there is a dent in the front."
I was so frustrated at this point I was almost ready to accept a damaged item. So I said, "How bad is it?" The installer changed his story to say, "Oh no, it's uninstallable, the back part of the dishwasher is engorged(?)." Again he and his sidekick fled out of the door, telling me I would have to call Sears to have them send another.
First, what is the policy of Sears? Wouldn't the box have been severely damaged? Do they not check the product before it leaves the warehouse? And if they did check and it was fine upon departure, it surely would've been damaged being put in the white, falling off lettering saying no company name, just an address of 430 (missing a #) Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY, beat up rickety van, without proper strapping for anything valuable. Having expressed those thoughts to someone who called me representing themselves from Sears, not the installers for Sears, I told the wife/dispatcher of this so-called company, unsure of her call then. She told me she would have to call back when she got the dishwasher delivered. So now she would call me on Friday (how did she know when it would be delivered? And what was the point of that call?).
She called on Friday to say they could come on the next day, I told her absolutely no, not another wasted Saturday because of the dishwasher saga. So we made it for Monday, Martin Luther King Day, unsure the company was working that day (still thinking they were legit plumbers). The installer and helper arrived at my home, same routine, bring in their tools, so I went downstairs. My kids were home and needed my attention, I was downstairs, maybe a total of under 15 min. The entire removal and installation of my dishwasher was done, unusual, since the first install took at least 3 hours. I remember because my husband was not home. They had me sign a paper and weren't leaving a copy, so I took a picture, and they were in such a hurry to get out of here, I had to stop them to tip them. Unusual, I thought.
Then no boxes were in my home, nothing, but there was a manual of a dishwasher tub, and Kenmore, not my model specific manual. I opened the dishwasher and I knew it was not the same one as I has. They installed a different one, not as big or nice as my original one. I immediately called and it was confirmed that yes, it was a different model, only because the installers submitted the work as being completed on Saturday, that is why the representative was confused. And what exactly did they put in my home, was this a refurbished model? Because also left behind was a paper, saying Sears would be calling, and their jobs depended on a 5 rating and if we felt they didn't deserve a 5 to call (718)317-7860 which is the company phone number, not Sears. The wife has been taking all the calls of unsatisfied customers and deferring them from Corporate.
I am disgusted with this whole experience. And the following day, I got a call from Sears, I don't know what dept. explaining to me that a minor cannot be present during an install/removal? I had no idea what this was about. I then arrive homed with my younger twin boys to speak with my older son who told me there was a van and a phone call to install and remove a dishwasher. I was on the phone all morning and the previous day and nobody mentioned to me that this was going to happen. Was this company trying to get their refurbished piece of junk dishwasher removed and the proper one installed quickly before anyone would be the wiser? Or else, how would they have the correct model the following day (which I would have waited if anything was even mentioned to me).
This was creepy, since we had no appointment, who was this A&E appliance van parked by my home as Sears rang my home phone? I do have all of this footage, and I am still stuck with this dishwasher, but I do not want anything to do with Independent Installers inc., or Richard Savasta. The old switch and bait, How many Hurricane Sandy homes have sub par or refurbished appliances in their homes thinking they are new?
I am awaiting media to expose this scam company. No one expects this from Sears; that's why we use them. I requested a brand new dishwasher be delivered to my home, in the box, off the large Sears delivery truck. I spoke with countless people from Sears and have numerous open complaints and am still awaiting a new dishwasher and we will have the one installed pulled out in front of media. Shame on you. Help Me Howard. This has caused me much stress and money lost due to this dishwasher. I could have bought 3 or 4 of them if I counted up my time and hours on the phone.

With all due respect, I live by myself so the unit is used at most twice a week. I had the Sears technician out today. Forty five minutes after the 4-hour window, only to find out the control panel is defective. The repair cost approximately $550.00, which is more than the actual cost. I can't believe that Sears sells such defective merchandise. I will never purchase a product from them again! Delivery costs, installation costs and permit costs - Home Depot will deliver and install for free!

We purchased a Kenmore Ultrawash QuietGuard Deluxe from Sears in July 2008. I talked my husband into spending a little more for this brand/model because it was top rated by Consumer Reports. After this experience, I will never be allowed to pick out an appliance again! We paid Sears to do the installation. From the start, the dishwasher has performed poorly. Sears replaced the unit after a month or so because the rinse aid dispenser wasn't working and the dishes weren't getting cleaned. New unit corrected the problem with the rinse aid dispenser, but we discovered that unless we thoroughly rinsed the dishes before washing them, we were pulling out dirty dishes even after the 2 1/2 - 3 hours wash cycle. I decided Consumer Reports had missed the mark on this one, and we'd just have to make do. (Even with the required pre-rinsing, it was still easier and faster than hand washing dishes.)
The control panel on the unit started to malfunction last November. We called Sears, and of course, we’re told we'd have to pay as we did not purchase an extended warranty. We opted to pay $230.00, which would cover service, parts, and a 1 year extended service contract. The dishwasher was only 3 years old. The Sears repair person replaced the control panel and also informed us we would need to call a plumber as the unit was not draining properly because it was incorrectly installed! I told him that Sears installed it, and he suggested I call the customer resolution department and see what they can do for me. Of course, they were unable to help me as we were outside of the warranty period for the installation. So, the dishwasher was performing poorly because it was improperly installed.
The control panel malfunctioned again in July, and the rinse aid dispenser stopped working in September. These were covered by the extended service contract we purchased last November. However, yesterday, the dishwasher stopped working mid-cycle. It just quit. My husband rightfully refuses to pay Sears another dime and called a few local repair people. I believe in giving people an opportunity to make things right, so I called Sears to see what they could do for us. I eventually spoke with a "member of their management team" (who apparently has no authority whatsoever), and she informed me that the repair done in September (replaced rinse aid dispenser) was still under 90-day warranty, so they could send someone out for that; but if it is a different issue, we will get charged for the service call and the parts.
I politely explained that we were not giving Sears any more money for this lemon, but I felt strongly that we needed to give them an opportunity to make it right. We will now cut our losses and purchase a new dishwasher from a local retailer (which we should have done in the first place). The woman then had the audacity to ask if we planned to get our new dishwasher from Sears (are you joking?!). Frustrated that she clearly wasn't listening to me, I reiterated that we will never, never purchase an appliance from Sears ever again. She replied that if I'd let her finish, she is authorized to offer me a discount on the new appliance. She can give me 10% off of up to $100.00. (Is she saying this with a straight face?!)
I don't understand how Sears fails to realize the value of customer satisfaction. I would have been happy had they agreed to send a technician out to repair the dishwasher. I don't think that's unreasonable given our experience. You don't have to give away the farm to please most customers; you just need to be reasonable. Buyer beware! We will never purchase another appliance from Sears. I will make sure to tell anyone who cares to listen about the poor service we have received from Sears. I will take pleasure in watching the company go under, which will inevitably happen if they continue to treat their customers so poorly.

We purchased a Kenmore Elite dishwasher one year ago. To date, we have had 4 service calls. The control board, drain pump, drain hose, and door gasket have all been replaced. In 3 of the 4 instances, parts had to be ordered. The last technician suggested I use "Scotch tape" to patch the door gasket. I upgraded his suggested repair and used red vinyl electrician's tape to serve as a reminder that I should refrain from ever purchasing appliances from Sears.

We have been loyal customers of Sears for many decades. We have purchased many appliances and yard equipment for many decades. We bought a new Kenmore Elite 2011 dishwasher back in July of 2011 for a lot of money because the lady at the Morgan Hill store was very persuasive and reassured us it was one of their top of the line products. While we have owned this dishwasher, we have had a lot of service repairs for the same issues at least four times. The top rack comes off constantly because of the cheap parts. We have had that fixed 4 times, the bottom twice for the plastic parts. I have tried to return this dishwasher many times and have been told I could not return it because of the period for returning has passed.
We didn't even think we would really be stuck with this lemon and hope that I would get some customer help and satisfaction! Their reply was to get an extended warranty for the same parts and issues I had since I have owned this cheap dishwasher we bought from Sears. We don't believe this is the right way to take care of consumers on lemon products and services because we paid a lot of money for a good product, as we thought. Really, why should we be stuck with a lemon and pay for an extended warranty for the same issues it had from the beginning? Being stuck with the dishwasher that has not been functioning like it should and having issues with injuries trying to get the top rack to function properly! We just want this resolved as soon as possible for this unfortunate lemon!

Near the end of September, the new dishwasher we bought in March went out. It took Sears just over a week to come check it out (after cancelling the initial service call without telling us). Tech said the control board went out and needed replacing. He checked that the part was in stock at their warehouse while here, ordered it, then said it would be delivered here sometime the following week and he would return a week after that to install it. Well, week after week rolled by with no part. Calls to Sears said that the part was never in stock and that the part was on back order from the original manufacturer because there were no parts available.
Sears could not answer as to why a brand new dishwasher for a new model had no parts to be found anywhere. Apparently, they had plenty to continue building other new dishwashers, but none for customers who had bought one that was defective. Part finally arrived yesterday and the tech is supposed to be here today to fix it. I'm uncertain as to whether I should be holding my breath. Word to the wise, avoid Sears appliances. If there are any issues at all, they are incapable of providing any level of acceptable service. There is now little doubt in my mind as to why Sears is nearing extinction. It is self-inflicted. Yes, I am ranting and still angry.

Kenmore Elite dishwasher - Sears has been out three times for this brand new dishwasher, 3 years old - Twice for control buttons that would not turn on or off. The third time, had to replace the entire control panel. This time (the last straw), it's water pipe leaking (without our knowledge). It leaked down into our finished basement, down the walls (newly painted) and soaked the carpeting. If all this was not frustrating enough, each time we called the Sears repair line, it takes 5 to 7 days before they come and sometimes did not call when they could not get to my house to do the repairs. I will never buy a Kenmore item again. FYI: It was the most expensive dishwasher Sears carried under the Kenmore line!

We paid about $750 for purchase and installation of a Kenmore dishwasher about two years ago. It ceased working, and we were told "a button got stuck on the control panel that will cost $275." We declined to pay, because it is likely the buttons will stick again, and we will be forced to pay, again. This is not an acceptable repair bill for a two year old dishwasher. We will not buy another Sears appliance.

The dishwasher started to smoke from both ends. It was on fire. My husband turned off the breaker and disconnected all sources of power. All Sears wants to do is charge me to repair it or give me a 10% off a new dishwasher. I believe they should replace or repair (if possible). Apparently, it was a few months out of their 7-year whatever, but I believe that they are extremely lucky that the damage was contained to the dishwasher because of my husband’s quick response. I believe the possibility of major damage and/or possible injury should outweigh a -year warranty. Their offer is not worth crap. My emotional stress due to this is worth more than they are offering!

Please pull my file from Sears Customer Solutions. I have battled a dishwasher issue for months. Your customer service, bouncing around, making appointments and not telling me it's canceled, etc., have been a nightmare. If I could pull this dishwasher out and give it back to the store and go elsewhere, I would. I want some type of compensation for my time, my stress and the runaround I have received.
First, the dishwasher purchased in 2006 had issues, and then the keypad cracked. Part was not available therefore replacement was needed. On 5/11, replaced with Kitchen Aid, but there's much condensation. I was not happy, waiting for another replacement on 6/6. My issue is with the customer service and the **. Please review the file. I was told I was going to get a $50.00 gift card, I never received it. Fifty dollars is nothing with the time and energy I have wasted. I’ve been told I'd get return calls, never happens. I demand someone to look into this and compensate me for the stress and trouble. I will never recommend Sears!

This is a warning to everybody. Do not buy anything from Sears or Kenmore. All of their products start rusting, plastic parts crack, parts corrode, hinges fail, and they are just appliances only good for a few years. We bought a dishwasher that does not process the normal detergents on the market and had to call a tech to clean it out. He told us that our elite dishwasher does not have enough heat to process normal cleaning agents, and we can only use a teaspoon of detergent (liquids prohibited). This was a $900.00 dishwasher 6 years ago. We just had to replace the bottom rack for $150.00 because it rusted out.
Our Kenmore refrigerator is rusted on the outside, and it makes noises when cooling. Only 6 years old, and the doors are sagging badly. It also results in freezer burns on all meat and other frozen food in around 6 weeks. It has a heating climate for defrost in the middle of the freezer, and it actually defrosts food every night next to it.
Our Kenmore oven and stove, purchased around 6 years ago, has a glass top that is impossible to clean, and the plastic on the oven door and seal is cracked all over and discolored. It also has severe rusting on surface and needs to be replaced. Our washer and dryer stack is also making a great deal of noise and bagging the walls. It is also only around 6 years old. The washer spin is so loud that my neighbors complain, and it is also rusting.
Do not buy any Kenmore products, especially on a credit care, they rust and fall apart right after the warranty expires. They are a rip-off in the first place, and all their products are almost 50% higher than places like Costco, Home Depot, and Lowe's. I can't believe that Sears is still in business, but their credit cards and interest rates explain everything to me.

On 07/30/07, Sears installed a new dishwasher in my kitchen (Sears sales check **, dated 06/23/07 refers). On returning from holiday on 04/12/12, I noticed the front panel on the machine was not working. I checked the fuse trip switch in the garage which was switched on. I checked and confirmed there was electricity at the plug under the sink. I therefore assumed the machines digital panel had failed and being a 5 year old machine, I decided to purchase a new one rather than incur the cost of an unknown repair bill.
Before the new machine arrived, I decided to disconnect and remove the old machine. To my horror, I found the wiring at the back of the machine had a join bound together with silver tape and that this had burnt through burning a hole in the external padding material of the machine and charring the water drain pipe and surrounding area. I have taken photographs and have retained the faulty wiring, external padding material and the chard water drain pipe. I count myself extremely lucky that my house did not catch fire!
I find it unbelievable that a trained electrician installing a machine like a dishwasher would join an electrical cord between the machine and the electrical outlet plug, let alone join it in such a potentially dangerous manner. I am well aware that electrical equipment should not have any joins in the wiring between the machine and the wall plug.
I have phoned Sears and have sent an email to the service section but cannot get any help from anyone. Apart from nearly causing a fire in my house, this failure on the part of the Sears installer has caused me to incur the cost of a new machine ($625.74).

Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash (model number 665.13929, 13924): As far as cleaning dishes goes and for being a quiet dishwasher, this is pretty good. But, that's about as far as it goes. First of all, the control panel. They call it a crown assembly (PN W10335626), and it sits right above the outlet vent which in and of itself is ok. But the dimwit who designed it (or should I say, approved the design) designed the vent for the washer to vent into the cavity right below the control panel with no definitive way to exit the steam without allowing the steam into the control panel.
I've replaced the control panel in my Kenmore Elite dishwasher twice in 14 months. The first one was under the 1-year warranty. I thought it was just a coincidence. No, it wasn't. I therefore recommend to anyone buying this dishwasher to also buy the extended warranty. It's really a poorly designed piece of crap.
