My new dishwasher was delivered and installed on Monday, 2/27/2012. After installation, the installer turned it on and it would not work. It would pump water in, but not do anything else until cancel was pushed and then it would pump water out. The installer, who isn't a Sears employee but an independent contractor, said I'd have to call repair service. I have spoken with at least 11 people who have all told me something different. Yesterday, I was told that a new dishwasher was set up to be picked up at the warehouse and I would receive a call to schedule delivery.
No call came so I called Sears back and was told that I had to schedule an appointment with a technician to verify the dishwasher wouldn't work before they could exchange it. If I didn't want to do that, I would be charged a restocking fee. If I had been told that 2 days ago, I might have it resolved by now, but I'm back waiting with a dishwasher that doesn't work. No wonder Sears is in trouble. They don't seem to care about customers.

Our dishwasher's power finally went out after about a week of sporadic power outages. I called Sears, set up an appointment and when the technician came out, he said it wasn't getting power and to call an electrician. Another week later the electrician comes out and says the unit is getting power but the problem is the power cord which was the wrong gauge per the local electrical code and could have been a safety issue. Instead of waiting another week, which would have made it three weeks total, we opted to have the electrician fix it and hope Sears would refund or partially refund the repair as I had all the documentation, receipts and pictures. We thought the repairman was either poorly trained or incompetent and we didn't want to risk the chance he couldn't fix it again.
When I worked my way up the Sears bureaucracy, they refused to refund any of the repair despite the fact their repairman was at fault and completely missed the cause of the problem. Long story short, we will never use Sears repair again and will use an independent repair person once our appliance is out of warranty. To be fair, we've used Kenmore appliances and have never had many issues with either the appliance or inevitable repairs but their total disregard and lack of accountability in this particular case lost our business for good.

Our living room floors were badly damaged when a faulty hose connection caused leakage from our brand new dishwasher that was installed. We called the Sears person who installed the dishwasher and he immediately changed the faulty hose connection. A Sears adjuster took photos, we took photos and we were then given a claim # and contact with Sears Insurance people, Sedgwick CMS. We went through the process of getting a company to dry out the room. This included them having to rip up half of our flooring in the living room to dry out all the water.
Folks at Sedgwick sent a letter of regret for what happened and requested two estimates for getting the damaged floor, etc. repaired. After this was done, the Sedgwick person then said she didn't yet have the faulty part to determine whether Sears was liable or the manufacturer of the installation kit. She said it could take up to two months to determine liability before we received the okay to go ahead with repairs. Now, I have put things in the hands of my home insurer to address the issue with Sears and their insurance company, Sedgwick CMS. In frustration, I had also contacted Sears Customer Solutions, but they said that they had no information about my issue and that I would have to contact the installer to get him to send the faulty hose connection to Sedgwick.
This is extremely horrible customer service. If I get no resolve from the contacts of my insurance agent, I will seek legal advice and follow through on the process. I should not have to wade through all these hoops when the problem is so clear. I dealt with Sears in my purchase and installation. They should take care of covering the cost of repairs to my room in a timely manner and then recoup from whatever other parties were involved and/or liable. Why should Sears Customer Solutions ask me to call someone at Sears? Isn't that the job they should be doing? I certainly won't be buying anything else from Sears and will also let my friends know how horrible Sears and their insurance company, Sedgwick, is in resolving customers' problems in a timely fashion.
Now, we have several rooms in a mess along with the emotional anxiety experienced from a big company taking advantage of an individual consumer. I am extremely disappointed with the horribly poor and uncaring service from Sears and their insurance company, Sedgwick.

Our dishwasher is almost seven years old. On January 30, 2012 we heard a loud pop and ran to the kitchen. The dishwasher was smoking and a flame was coming out the bottom. I pulled the door open. That turned off the power so we had no damage other than a burnt dishwasher. We called Sears service and was told it was the control panel that caught fire. The repair man said it was just one of those things that happen. What could have happened is we could have been in bed and the whole kitchen could have been in flames. When we went to Sears to buy a replacement the sales person said 7 years was about all we should expect from a dishwasher. I thought this was absurd but didn't say so. We bought another Elite dishwasher and it will be delivered in two weeks. But the more I thought about it the angrier I got. A thousand dollar dishwasher should last longer than seven years and should not catch fire. I think that Sears should help pay for the replacement.

In June 2010, we purchased a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher serial number F02117032. Within the year warranty period, some of the labels on the function panel fell off and others were loose. Sears replaced the function panel free of charge. The technician told me that other buyers had the same problem. Then in January 2012, one of the labels fell off and others were loose. I spoke to 2 different service representatives and was told each time that we would have to pay for labor and parts because we had no extended warranty. We were told to call another number to see if the model was recalled. My husband spoke to someone who told him there was no recall of our model. We feel that the function panel is defective because it has no protective plastic covering like other dishwasher have. Sears has been very unresponsive. We will not be buying any more Sears appliances.

When I read about the recall through a series of calls, I was able to get the e-mail for the attorney for the class action lawsuit. I have been unable to get a claim form and called him. My dishwasher fits the description of the recall, date of purchase, make, etc. He asked if my dishwasher had caught fire. When I said no, he said they couldn't help me as it appears there is no problem with my dishwasher. However, the recall notice clearly states that the dishwasher can set fire even when not running. Why do I have to live in fear of it igniting when Sears can send someone out to fix it? And how do I get a claim form? No one seems to know.

I renovated my kitchen in 2007 and bought four appliances from Sears: a dishwasher, a refrigerator, range with oven, and a microwave. From inception the dishwasher never washed clean. I complained to them twice. The first guy said that one of the function buttons was not functioning. He fixed that, but I still had the issue with the dirty wash load. The second time I asked Sears to send out an advanced tech due to the fact that I was still having the issue with the dirty loads.
A gentleman came out. He ordered two parts, came back and installed it, but to my surprise the dishwasher still had the initial issue. I go very busy at work and began to get very frustrated. When I had a spare moment and called them back in regards to the same issue, I was told that my warranty had expired and that I should consider purchasing an extended warranty. Funds were very tight, and I could not afford it. Therefore, the dishwasher remained in my kitchen just taking up space. Last month the microwave and the oven just decided they had enough.
They cut off in the process of me using them and I was unable to revive them. Now it has been approximately 5 years since purchasing the appliances. I don't think it is co-incidental that their appliances last an average of five years since that is the length of the extended warranty they are so eager to offer to cover their inferior products. I think this whole appliance affair is a scheme and I would like Sears to replace the three appliances that are either not working as it should or doesn't work at all. The refrigerator is the only appliance that still has life. I bought this a few months subsequent to purchasing the other three appliances; hence the reason it is still working. It hasn’t reached that 5-year limit yet. I think this whole thing is a scheme. I think Sears knows that the LG and Samsung made products that they pass off as Kenmore Elite are inferior. Soon my entire kitchen would be useless due to the fact that I would not have any working appliances left. Help! Help! I would like to get this this resolved.

Kenmore Dishwasher model 665-175 has developed a hole in tub right under the heating element. It was causing a slow water leak. I’m not sure for how long this has been going on as built in dishwasher was in place for 6 years or so. People living in apartment below complained about water leak. I called Sears and they say it will be the service tech who will decide if it is covered under life long tub-warranty or other wise. Service call will cost $84.97 plus tax. And if replacement is not covered, tub alone will cost $328.99 plus tax plus labour. I would rather like to DIYS and get it working till it does and go for new after. For now, I'm thinking to cover hole with one extra heater holding clamp (perhaps item 4) in heater parts diagram. Of course, a little bit epoxy under there to cover gap from bottom up. Any other ideas out there?

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Quiet Guard Dishwasher. One night, we could smell something burning after running the dishwasher. It turned out to be the dispenser solenoid had burnt out. We had the dispenser replaced & also replaced control panel as this was suppose to have caused the problem (had to pay for the parts ourselves). 2 weeks later, we had the same problem again. We spoke with Sears "again" but they would not do anything for us as the dishwasher was past the warranty. Dishwasher was only 2 years and approx 1 month old.

Can I give 0 stars? We ordered our new dishwasher on 12/1 for delivery on 12/3. On 12/2, we had a call from the installation company telling me that they could not install on 12/3, but had to delay until 12/7. I was disappointed, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. On 12/7, the installers arrived and removed our old dishwasher. They then unpacked our new one and found pieces inside the tub that had not yet been installed. The wiring at the bottom was loose and disconnected. And when the sound proofing was lifted, the back of the machine was dented and bashed.
I contacted Sears to ask for an urgent replacement, but was left on hold for 45 minutes, being passed from department to department. We were told our order had been cancelled, even though we had not requested this. We were eventually told that we would have to go back to the store to re-order the dishwasher. When my husband returned to the store, he had to push to speak to a manager in order to get some sort of response. They offered us a $60 discount on the installation, and arranged it for Saturday, 12/10. We were told we would get a call the day before to confirm our installation, but heard nothing. At 2 pm on 12/10, we called the installation company. We were told they had left a message (which we never got) to tell us their truck broke down. We were told they would reschedule our installation, and call us back on Monday.

Sears customer service teams from installation, to repair, to home solutions, to the actual store where are bought my dishwasher have been a nightmare to deal with. We bought a 2010 Kenmoore dishwasher that worked okay for about 1 year. A couple of months ago, it stopped draining effectively and of course, was outside the warranty period so I called to have the appliance repaired. The repair technician told me that it was not a repair issue, it worked fine. The drainage hose from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal was installed improperly and that I needed to contact installation to get the issue resolved.
On the surface that seemed fine, what has transpired since is a customer service nightmare. I have talked to 12 different people in 5 different departments and all of them have passed the buck from one area to the other saying it's their problem. No one wants to help me at all at Sears. In fact, all the want me to do is take a 50 dollar gift card and go away and yet, I would still have dishwasher that was installed incorrectly by Sears and my own headache to deal with all because they hired a subcontractor to do the work. Please, please have an installer come back and fix my dishwasher.

On August 12, we purchased a Sears Elite Dishwasher (10-22100187) together with a multi-year home service and installation for $1,522.14. The unit was delivered on August 16 and the Sears installers determined that the unit was approximately one-half inch too tall to fit the counter space. The dishwasher was not brought into the house as the installers said that it would not fit. It was recommended that I return the unit and purchase a Bosch Dishwasher from Sears which is approximately one and a half inches shorter than the Elite Model. The paperwork was completed at the house, the unit was taken back to Sears by the installers for sales credit and we proceeded back to Sears to order another model.
We ordered a Bosch dishwasher from Sears with maintenance home service and installation on August 16 (approximately the same price as the Elite) and determined that Sears would issue credit for the returned Kenmore Elite Dishwasher. Ten days have elapsed and Sears has been unable to issue credit for the returned Elite Dishwasher. They claimed that the Elite Dishwasher was returned and verified but they will not issue a credit to my credit card. I continue to have payment for two dishwashers on my credit card.

Sears is the worst company ever, followed by the blue ribbon department, which is operated by sears. They make a bunch of promises only not to answer calls anymore!
We bought a dishwasher from Sears outlet in February of this year. They sold us a unit that was not working properly. After several calls, follow up and BS, they agreed after 3 months to replace it with a brand new one.
They ship the brand new one without a working front and it has been sitting in my garage for 2 additional months with promises of getting it up and running. But the part is on back order. I called asking for a different dishwasher and now they ignore my calls.
My poor wife with 3 children does not have a dishwasher because Sears are a bunch of con artist. To make matters worse, they took my money for full payment in March and have not even given that back. So they have our money and we have no dishwasher. Don't buy from them and please pass this on.

In September 2010, I bought a 3-year service contract on my Kenmore dishwasher from Sears for $200. Yesterday, my dishwasher didn't drain and dumped water in my kitchen. I can't use it this way. I called the Sears repair service to set up an appointment, assuming that like all repair services they would come to my house in a day or two. What I got was an hour runaround with the result being that they can't service my machine for 2 weeks.
This isn't service; this is non-service. What it tells me is that either they don't have enough service technicians or all of their machines are falling apart. I trusted them to do their job, and they lied. I won't trust them again.

On Sept 17, 2010, we purchased a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher. On Sept 26, 2010 we were contacted that installation would be on Sept 27, between 9AM and 12PM. The dishwasher did not arrive and the installers would not return our phone call or the call from Sears. Finally at 8:30 PM, the installers called and said that they could not locate the dishwasher as it was probably assigned to another installer incorrectly. I was calm and made arrangements for installation for Saturday Oct 2, 2010 which they said they would do Saturday installation at no extra cost.
On Oct 2, 2010, two men arrived, removed and hauled off the old dishwasher and stated that they were not licensed plumbers and could not install the new dishwasher, but that it was coming later. Several hours later the plumber and the dishwasher arrived. To install the dishwasher, he had to lift the countertop to get it to roll in the space. During the lifting he snapped a substantial piece of countertop facing off. He stated that he would be in touch with me in a week or so to have someone repair it and he even wrote on the work order that this was broken and would be repaired at no additional cost to me.
Sears customer service told me that this installer is no longer contracted with Sears and that I would have to get 2 bids for repair of the countertop. Of course the counter is 15+ years old and no one can match it. In fact Home Depot and Lowe's said that they do not even do this type of repair because it cannot be matched. They both stated that the only thing to do would be to replace the counter. You can guess that it is very doubtful that Sears is going to pay this to be done. We are still in the process of trying to get at least one bid for repair. Not one follow up phone call from Sears has been made. They do not care about customers or their complaints as long as they made a sale. I do not think there is anything that Sears could do to make me want to purchase another appliance from them.

Well it went out again in July. I went online today and found out there is a recall on the dishwasher from your website. When I called Sears they said our dishwasher is not part of the recall. However, the Whirlpool website says it is under the recall. Who is telling me the truth? I now have an appointment for Sears to come to my home to service the dishwasher. I bought the Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 665.13119K701 because it came highly recommended by the Sears sales rep and I have had good experiences with Kenmore in the past. Well, not anymore. I have had this model for just over 1 year. On the 13th month, the control panel shorted out and cost me $300 to have a Sears technician come out and repair. If I had known that this Elite model was prone to control panel failure, I would have spent the money and repair money on a better brand name model.
Buyer beware, the sales reps won't tell you what happened to me and many others out there. The original purchase price for this dishwasher was $700 and just over 1 year later an additional $300. So, that cost me $1000 plus taxes! I could have bought 2 mid-range dishwashers for this price!

I purchased a dishwasher in early Sept. 2010 from Sears and it was installed by Sears. On/around November 1st we noticed mold along baseboards in an adjacent room. At that time, we called a plumber who discovered that the dishwasher was leaking and there was a dam effect going on behind my kitchen cabinets. The water reached 12 feet to the left (3 ft. up each wall) and also 6 feet to the right. As a result, there are several cracks in my drywall. There is too damage much on my kitchen furniture and a bunch of mold in various places between my kitchen and dining room (and I have bugs now).
I immediately contacted Sears who referred me to their 3rd party claims service who later determined it was a manufacturer defect (Whirlpool). From this point up until now, I have placed nearly 40 calls and dealt with 12 different people (some of which never responded back to me). And I am no further than I was 2 weeks ago from when this was first reported. I took the initiative to have a contractor do an estimate (around $10k). All the while I have been thrown through a complete circus of events and false promises. We have a newborn (6 week old baby) and cats. And the fact we have toxic mold in our house does not seem to concern anyone between Sears/Whirlpool.
There is no doubt I will be displaced for up to 3 weeks while construction occurs (whenever that may be). But meanwhile, I am held hostage in a house full of mold while my child is at risk. I have made this abundantly clear to both companies that I need to get out of there ASAP. However, all I receive is a bunch of apologies and regurgitated policy. Most recently, I have been in touch with corporate Sears. I was told that all they can do is leave messages for the same person who has neglected to get back to me. They also refused to allow me to speak to anyone else up their company chain.
All I have been pleading for is some pro-active action, knowing I will be living elsewhere anytime now. But just get me out of this environment now! Bottom line is that Sears's claim process is a complete joke and a failure. And as soon as they can pin liability on someone else, they stop caring about the customer. The only thing I ever did wrong in this was buy a dishwasher from them.

I bought a new Bosch Dishwasher at Sears on October 27, 2010 and I received a call that it would be installed on October 29, 2010 between 9:00 am and noon. The salesperson was great. However, guess what, no show from the installer, and this is after I took the day off. I started calling Sears and was told by that their installer had disappeared.
Ok, so a new installer was rescheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2010 and guess what? The dishwasher was installed incorrectly. This is an expensive Bosch dishwasher with the controls on top of the door. The installer did not know this, and the dishwasher is now sticking out of the cabinet two inches on the top and an one and one-half inch on the bottom, so now it is not perpendicular to the floor and it sticks out beyond the counter top.
This dishwasher was supposed to be installed flush with the wood cabinets. Also, the installer slightly damaged my cabinets when it was installed. So, I called the Sears installer and they apologized and never received another call. I called Sears Service and they said that they would get back to me between 24 and 48 hours, and guess what no call back.
I am now in Sear's ** and just want them to take the dishwasher back. Also, I was going to reset the dishwasher, and guess what again, the Sear's installer broke the tabs off on the top of the dishwasher, so now it can't be reset in the cabinet. I have wasted volumes of time in trying to get the dishwasher fixed and now just want it out of the house. I cannot believe that Sears allows such bad service. I will never set foot in a Sears store again.

I have a Kenmore Dishwasher Model 363-14475792. Two weeks ago, it caught on fire during the wash cycle. I called Sears repair and discussed the problem and they told me my dishwasher was not under warranty and I could have a repairman come out and see if it could be fixed but there would be a fee for the service call. I declined and after doing some research, I found out that my dishwasher and serial number had been recalled due to possible fire hazard.
I called Sears, told them the problem and they confirmed it had been recalled and they would send out a repairman and he would either fix it or it would be replaced. On Friday, I took off work to meet the repairman and he never showed. I called Sears back and they told me they would have someone come on Saturday and that appointment could not be canceled or rescheduled. On Saturday, I waited and I received a call from the repairman and he told me he was an hour away and would be there shortly. 10 minutes later, he called me back and said he could not come, that a different repairman would be in contact with me. About an hour later ,the second repairman called and I gave him directions and 30 minutes later his dispatcher called and said a repairman would not be able to come out and today and they would have to reschedule for the following week.
At this point, I rescheduled my life twice for a total of 10 hours and have wasted over 6 hours on the phone discussing this with just about everyone at Sears repair and customer relations. They rescheduled for Tuesday and the repairman showed up and spent about 5 minutes looking at the dishwasher and wrote a report saying that the dishwasher fire was due to the recall issue.
The next day I called Sears as instructed and they said it had been referred to lost control to call back the next day. The next day, we called lost control and they had no idea why the case was referred to them and told us to call Sears customer relations back. We spent another 3 hours talking to just about everyone at Sears and they told us we need to talk to GE. My dishwasher is a Kenmore and was sold by Sears.
If GE manufactured the dishwasher for Sears, then that is Sears deal. I expect Sears to stand behind the products they sell and market. Right now I have no idea what Sears is going to do. I think I deserve better service and support from a company I have been doing business with for over 28 years. They should realize that this fire could have cost me and my family our life and our home. Thankfully the fire was contained inside the dishwasher so only a few dishes were ruined along with the dishwasher itself. I am very disappointed with Sears and the fact they have lost the ability to provide value and support for their customers. Shame on Sears!

We purchased a relatively high end Kenmore (Elite Series) from Sears. (We've purchased from Sears for many years. We've noticed a decline in quality; however, we were impressed with their response to US Veterans and chose to try to stay with them)
Within the first two months, the soap drawer broke. It was disappointing but it wasn't worth complaining since we use the little packets and can just throw them into the bottom of the dishwasher.
At a year and three months, the door stopped staying closed during the cleaning / drying cycles. My husband called and was told it was no longer under warranty and a service visit would cost between 75 and 125 dollars. Since I am currently unemployed, we chose to limp along securing the door with a chair to allow the dishwasher to function.
At a year and six months, the dishwasher began to make an awful noise and we knew we no longer had a choice on placing a service call. When my husband called, he was offered a one year service agreement for $220.00. The repairman came out and was able to fix the noise by cleaning out something (our machine is supposed to have a small garbage disposal function). He indicated that he didn't have the parts for the repairs.
Parts were ordered and the follow-up appointment was scheduled for September 30th within a four hour window. Somebody called from the repair center a couple of days before the scheduled appoint and asked if we'd received the parts. My husband told them we hadn't and they said they would track them down.
On September 30th, I waited at the house until the four hour window was closed and then called the Sears Repair Center. They told me they had cancelled the repair because the parts were back-ordered. That was the first I'd heard of the back-order and I was told at that time that the parts were not due in until December. I was also told that the part that was available would be held until the back-ordered part came in. The service center representative also told me that if the parts were not available within 21 days, Sears would issue a credit of up to $500.00 for a new washer (my understanding was that they recognized the inconvenience of being without a machine that's under a service agreement)
Lastly, I was told how sorry Sears was that the repairman had not explained the process to us. The following week, my daughter received a call asking if we had received the parts. She said no, not realizing we had gotten them. She asked if she could get an update on the back-order. The Sears rep said no and hung up.
I asked my daughter to call back the following day to correct the status on the parts which she did. Sears left a message on the answering machine indicating that they needed to reschedule an appointment for the repairs. When I called, they wanted to schedule on a weekday which I am unable to commit to. I had already spent one weekday at home and no longer had the luxury to stay at the house. I made it clear that I required Saturday service. They scheduled the appointment for Saturday, October 23, 2010 between 9 and 1.
I received a reminder/confirmation call on the answering machine on the 22nd of October. I stayed at the house and was available through the morning of October 23, 2010 and finally called the Repair Center around 12:50 pm as I had heard nothing from any member of the Sears staff. The automated message told me that my appointment was scheduled for Thursday, October 29th. (Had I not called, I would have had no knowledge of that appointment. )
I went through the voice prompts to speak with a live person. She told me the repair person had called out sick (after a five minute hold time) but I could be rescheduled for Tuesday. I told her I was not available during weekdays and I needed a Saturday appointment. She placed me on another five minute hold and returned with the information that the first Saturday appointment was November 28th.
I had asked repeatedly for a customer service contact number and was told there was no customer service. Finally I asked to speak with her supervisor. She verified that I wanted to speak with her supervisor and placed me on hold (another five minute wait). She came back on the line and told me she would transfer me now. I waited on hold for 30 minutes for the supervisor and was finally disconnected. (I had tried calling on my cell phone to see if there was some problem but was put on hold for a supervisor that way also.)
It was obvious that there was no one to speak with via the phone service center so I went to the nearest Sears. The manager I spoke with was caring and genuine. She listened as I went through this litany and, ultimately, called the group responsible for resolving this type of situation. The outcome is that unless I'm willing to take a Tuesday or Thursday appointment, I need to wait until November 20th. The information I received on the voucher for replacement was incorrect.
There are no accommodations that Sears can make even though I've already committed a day and half and have little confidence in the repair process arriving even if I do commit to more time waiting for the repairman. The Sear's Store Manager did offer a $50.00 gift certificate even though I told her that we would not shop at Sears again. It was thoughtful of her and we will pass it on to someone in need.
I spoke with Sears headquarters Customer Service. I found their number on the Better Business Bureau site. Upon asking, I was told that the service component was indeed outsourced. I was also told that when I asked for a number for customer service, it should have been provided. I expressed my concern with the quality of both the equipment and the service. The young man was understanding. We mutually agreed that there was nothing to be done but he would voice my concerns with the groups that make service decisions.
I was called again on the 25th in the evening with a reminder of my service which was scheduled for the next day, a Tuesday. I had not arranged this appointment but I decided that if I was home when the repairman showed up it would at least be done.
The service man appeared at 8:15 am. He went right to work and by nine, the new parts were installed. He told me I could just run the rest of my load through. I did ask about the start button which seems to be cut and he said there was nothing to be done until the whole panel stopped functioning. Our service plan doesn't cover cosmetics. I guess that is to ensure that people continue to pay the $220 for the yearly service plan!
He walked out the door and I pushed the start button. The machine started and almost immediately went to the flashing green light that started this whole mess. Originally we were told it was a latch problem. Since that's brand new, I don't have any idea what's causing it. I ran outside to stop the repair man and he was just pulling away. I immediately called the service department and they said they would send a message for the repair person to call me. I called back when I didn't receive a call and was told that they hadn't sent him a message to call; they'd sent a message to come back but now they would send a message to call. It's been 50 minutes.
I'm back on with Consumer Solutions. I am truly tired of having to be proactive and pay for the privilege. After an 8 minute hold, I was told that no one can come back today. They have appointments available on Thursday or next Tuesday. The only Saturday appointment is November 20th. I told them I would like them to buy back the machine and was told that they can't do that. I finished by telling them that my husband would have to take care of this. I will no longer let a Sears person in the door!
When I worked for Kmart many years ago, management was anxious that employees recognize the power of Word of Mouth. That being said, I need your management to know that I will do everything in my power to ensure that no other consumer gets this type of poor quality in the equipment they purchase or in the service they receive as a customer.
This history will be lodged with the Better Business Bureau and with Consumer Reports. I will also make every effort to communicate using social networking, the general media, and virally on the internet. If your company is so negligent in your treatment of your customers, it's time that you consider closing your doors! Thank you.

I purchased a top of the line stainless steel Kitchen Aid dishwasher and have hated it since I bought it. It has never cleaned the dishes. I stacked the dishes properly, preheat the water, use best dishwashing soaps etc. and it leaves murky looking water on top of glasses, spots on silver ware; nothing cleans properly. I have had the service technician out to make sure it was filling with enough water and I was stacking it correctly. Of course, I got charged for the service call and was told that it's just the new energy-saving appliances! I had an energy-saving kitchen aid dishwasher for over twenty years that worked like a charm. I never had a problem so I assumed I would be happy with another one.
I will never recommend Kitchen Aid nor will I ever purchase another Kitchen Aid product again. We have purchased lower end brand dishwashers for several rental houses that we own and they clean circles around this piece of junk. I should have saved myself some money and bought a cheap model that works!

Phoned company and was referred to "foreign" operator, who knew nothing. On 4th call, spoke to local employee, who told me that technician did not come to work today and they scheduled me with another technician whose workload was "already overbooked." Upshot? No service, no other plan and my confirmation that this is one inept company which refers their customers to "sorry madam" foreigners who have no power or knowledge of how to ensure service. We bought a dishwasher from them and have had nothing but trouble with it since it was bought about 2007. We still have a warranty on it to get it repaired but the last time we complained, the repair man said that we have to contact the maintenance agreement people to get the thing replaced with a new one. Also, we bought a refrigerator from Sears about the same year and lost at least $200.00 of food when the freezer quit working in the summer. We were told finally that the freezers don’t freeze foods in the summer. Why would anyone want one that didn’t? If I had known that when we bought it, I would not have bought it to start with and wasted my money. What I would like is to get a new dishwasher and not have to pay for it since I have had the insurance on it, if that is what it is called.

Kenmore dishwasher. Only 5 years old. Second servicing. Sears service charged $104.64 for a 5-minute service that basically told us the cost to repair the many broken parts of the dishwasher would be way more than the cost to replace it. I am disgusted at the price of the 5-minute service call and the fact that a fairly high end dishwasher is in need of replacement after only 5 years. I’m out $104.64 for a 5-minute service call plus the cost to replace it. Excess of what more than $800.00 plus tax for a new one.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher from Sears. In less than a year, the control panel quit working. I recently had a very bad experience with Sears service on another appliance and did not want to call on this dishwasher because of it. As it was still under warranty, I bit the bullet and called for service. Technician came out on 4/27/10. He said he had to order a new control panel.
Someone else came out on 5/6/10 and installed the panel. Dishwasher worked 1 time and then the same problem. Another technician came out on 6/3 and said the new control panel they installed on 5/6 must have been defective. A technician was scheduled to come out on 6/12 between 8 and 12 to install once again.
I received a call on 6/9 to see if I had the part. I informed the caller that I did not. She told me that parts department would call me. They did not. Saturday, 6/12, as I was waiting on a technician, I called at 10:30 to make sure someone is coming. I am told that the part is on back-order until July 3 but that the technician will be at my house next. I asked what he will be doing without the part, and I got no answer other than "Do I want to reschedule?" I asked for a supervisor and got Shelly with no last name. She said I have no options.
If the new part does not come in in 30 days, we will talk about a replacement. At 12:30 (30 minutes past the window), a technician called to tell me he was on his way. I told him there was no part. This will be 4 months without a disHwasher that is under warranty, and I do not have confidence that the second replacement part will work when and if it comes.
I have purchased Sears appliances exclusively for 30 years with very good results. In the last year, I have had 2 horrible experiences. The customer service is so bad. I will never, never walk into a Sears store again after I get this resolved.

Our Sears Kenmore Elite Dishwasher has been repaired 4 times all for the same issue, the latest being 4/23/10 when the latch and clip were replaced. Today, 4/29/10, the door popped again and refused to be latched leaving a load of dishes and a tub full of nasty, dirty water. Repeated phone calls, some dropped purposefully and 2 inadvertently, and 2 web chats later we were given a date of 5/7 (a full 8 days left with dirty water) that was finally moved up to 5/3. No one could provide me with an alternate method to drain the dishwasher, so I am left with fetid water until a service tech can be dispatched. The service contract has long been paid for but the "service" is missing. Each time the tech comes to my house, they are polite and helpful, but the dispatch of help is horrific and the most unhelpful. Nasty dirty water lies in the bottom of the dishwasher and the stench fills the house. Having to wait such an extended period of time for a repeat problem to be remedied is unreasonable.

We bought a new dishwasher from Sears and paid $169.99 installation fee with the purchase. When the installation personnel came to our condo, he wanted us to pay extra fees because some extra work needed to be done. The whole installation process took about 1.5 to 2 hours. At the time of payment, I asked for a detailed explanation for the $257.00 extra charge. Omar (the installer) told me that Sears changes $79.00 for shutting down the water. This is surprising and outrageous! All he did was to go to the garage and pull a string that shut off the hot water line. (The cold water shut off was under the sink). This simple action took him about 5 minutes to complete.
He did not tell me that he would charge me $79.00 for that, otherwise I could have done it myself. Besides that, Sears also charged extra $79.00 for installing the A/G which should have been included in the $169.99 that we had paid at the purchasing time. The other $99.00 was charged for a simple electrical work which took Omar 15 minutes to complete. I believe that Sears is overcharging the customers for the installation service. It is a crime to charge $79.00 for simply going to the parking garage and pulling a string which shut off the hot water.
Another complaint I have is that the installer should have given me my choices ahead of time, so I can make informed decision. I thought that I have no choice but let him to install because I already have paid $169.99. The installer should have told me that Sears would charge $79.00 for the hot water shut off. I could have done it myself to avoid this charge. I end up paying $427.00 for the installation instead of $169.99 that I expected. Overall, this is an awful, disturbing experience with Sears. I recommend that nobody should use Sears for anything.

I called the Sears store which took no responsibility. I called the installer who came out and said there was a defective hose in our new Kenmore 13893. I called the 800 Sears Service and they sent out a technician a week later. He said there was a leak, he saw no damage to the floor. He thought the hose clamp wasn't tightened enough to the leaking hose but he "gooped" the hole in the defective hose and re-taped it, ordering replacement hose. We used the dishwasher 3 times more before the Sears Tech. came back on April 6 to install the hose. (One month) We pointed out the floor damage and he said "Do you want me to take a picture? The camera is in the truck."
I asked him to note the damage on his report and he said he didn't have enough space to make that comment on his computer. He replaced the hose but said he thought we needed to have the compression joint on our water supply copper tubing replaced before we ran the dishwasher or it "might leak again." He thought that was the reason the machine leaked to begin with. We said it wasn't the joint that leaked but the hose! The joint has worked fine for twenty years and during the 2 weeks as we waited for the new hose to be installed.
Tomorrow, the appliance installation man is coming to remove the dishwasher from our kitchen. I want it out when the floor replacement comes and there is no need for him to come out to our home again in two weeks to remove it once more. He is replacing the joint but we are still without a dishwasher. (Going on two months). The amount of haggling back and forth with Sears people, repair, sales, phone calls from people I don't know, insurance claims examiners is too much for me. Everyone is saying it's not their responsibility. (Even the Sedgewick CMs examiner said "You know it isn't made by Sears but someone else is to blame.)
I turned the whole affair over to my home insurance company. We are still without a dishwasher and will be until our new floors are installed which will probably be at the beginning of May, going on 3 months. Don't you think we need to be compensated for all the headache and aggravation for our Sears purchase? I know you will pay for the replacement of the floors. My homeowners agent assures me as we have all the defective parts.
I am tempted to write Scott M. at the Sears Holding Group. He recently spoke in Las Vegas to the Marketing and Tech. people and said to contact him if there was ever a problem like this one! What do you have to say for yourself or please forward my remarks Scott. Surely we will get some satisfaction. Physical damages $2,200 to floor, not to mention the headaches and aggravation

After a few more days, we decided that it was never going to work and was originally told that I could get it exchange if I brought the dishwasher back to the store. I then talked to someone at customer care who arranged for a new dishwasher to be delivered to me on March 24th. I had to pay for another dishwasher but was assured that I would be credited for the original defected dishwasher that night, as soon as it made it back to the warehouse.
Well, that was 2 weeks ago and still no credit. I have called (no one has called me!) and talked to at least 20 different people in multiple departments with no one giving me answers or help. I have been placed on hold for up to 45 minutes only to be disconnected. I have pleaded to speak with a supervisor or someone at a level to help me. I have heard that the dishwasher instead of being treated as an exchange when Sears pick it up; it was treated as haul away. Somehow, this has become my problem and I can’t find help anywhere. I have received lots of, "I'm sure we can help you" and a lot of "thank you for shopping at Sears" and even some "sorry" but no real help and no conversations with anyone that really knows what to say to me.

In the meantime, the dishwasher has not even been delivered. I have been kept waiting all day, with the claim that the technicians are all "out" and that there is no way to contact them. This cannot possibly be true. They plan to "compensate" us with a gift card, while we deal with no dishwasher that we ordered and should have been here by now.
The error is clearly theirs. Not only that, it's Friday, so we can't have our dishwasher til Monday. It's not the lack of dishwasher that concerns me, it's that they screwed up the order and also didn't make it clear that requesting service for a particular day might mean you don't get it. I have a big family and I am spending another hour to wash the dishes every day. I paid for 5 years maintenance service agreement and I am expecting a reasonable service. They are stalling me every time when I call them. Finally I said I will make a complaint about this. The supervisor lady told me, "You can complain anywhere you want." I made over 15 calls and I even wrote to the Sears head office. I cannot get my dishwasher fixed and I don't know what to do.

Since I live in a small hamlet in Alberta, I purchased all of my appliances from Sears. Their motto is, "We service what we sell." They push the idea of extended warranties on the consumer for the consumer's peace of mind (not for their profit of course!). I own the following dud appliances from Sears - a dishwasher (2003), a fridge (2007) and a stove (2008). I own others also but so far, no major problems. The fridge cooks food, one of the flat top stove's elements is coming off and the dishwasher is nothing but a disaster after another. Its last mishap was to flood my kitchen this May. Water ruined my kitchen/dining room floor causing mold to grow under the sub-floor. Then the water ran into the electrical panel in the basement, plus it ruined part of the basement ceiling and rug.
I phoned Sears immediately when I noticed this problem and was told that they could get a plumber to my home in the next 2 weeks! I hired my own. I asked Sears to send someone out to look at my floor. I'm still waiting. I have phoned, emailed and faxed. I now am talking to some insurance adjustor (Gallager/Basset), whose main function is to decline my claim.

I need help. I have been a loyal customer to Sears for the past 25 years. Every appliance and TV has been purchased from Sears. I have been very satisfied with their products and service up until now. I purchased a top of the line Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher in 2007 and purchased the expensive extended warranty (I am glad I did). After about 6 months, the electronic control panel went out. No problem, I called and got it repaired. Since then control panel has went out about every 6 to 10 months. The dishwasher has went out again. This a total of 4 times. The last time it went out, Sears extended my warranty for 6 months. The next time it goes out, I am sure the cost is on me. I believe the product falls under the lemon law. I want the dishwasher replaced with a working product. Can anyone help me? If not I will probably pursue my legal rights and Sears will lose a lifetime customer. My current case number is **. We bought a Kenmore dishwasher from Sears in Clay, NY in October 2006. In late 2007, the motor blew in it and it was repaired. Now, not even 2 years later, it has gone again. I spoke to 3 different departments and all 3 told me that we should have bought the extended warranty. I believe that if you are going to buy an appliance, it should last more than 3 years. Sears won't and can't stand behind their product and since they can't, they shouldn't be selling a product that is seriously lacking in quality.

My husband and I purchased a Kenmore Elite dishwasher in 2004, model #665-15899100. It worked okay for a while. I used the sani-temp setting and the thing quit. I called a repairman and replaced the fuse thing in the front panel (still under warranty at this time). Not realizing it was the high temperature doing the damage, this happened three more times. The last two were out of the warranty period. After we looked at it ourselves (because it was getting rather expensive to keep purchasing the same part over and over), it was determined that the fuse in the panel assembly is pitifully inadequate. It never cleaned very well.
After all those commercials about being able to put dishes in without pre-rinsing was a joke! Forget about putting anything with rice or oatmeal still attached. It bungs up the drain tube and it takes me a day to get it open again. Recently, I have had issues with the tube that feeds the water to the top rack. The entire thing does not get water! The bottom arm is the only one that sprays. Now I am worried that the pump assembly is messed up and that costs (without labor) almost as much as a new machine! This is the worst dishwasher I have ever used. It is not worth the $ spent and spent.

We purchased another one which was advertised as 52 decibels. It was installed on 8/29/09 and did not have any sound proof on the sides or a kick plate in the front. It is so noisy you can't hear yourself think. We called the customer line immediately as they left the house and was told “too bad, it’s yours.” They have been hanging up on us saying they can't find the order and don't know who we are. About the first week in July, I got a call from Sears that there was a recall on my dishwasher, a Bosch, cost about $800, something to do with a faulty control panel that might be a fire hazard. I was told I had to call and order some new parts and when the parts would arrive, I would then have to call back and make an appointment to have it fixed. And I was told not to use the dishwasher until repairs was done. The parts arrived after 5 days and I then called back to make the appointment to have it fixed. I was then told that they had no available time for about 2-3 weeks to come and fix the dishwasher.
Needless to say, at this point, I was getting angry. I now had to go another 2-3 weeks without my dishwasher. I called Sears to explain that it was a long time for me to go without it, but I only encountered rude unhelpful reps, and could not at anytime get a manager on the phone. I was forced to wait 2 and a half weeks for the first appointment they could fit me in to. I work all week days, and they, apparently, do not make repairs on Saturdays when most normal people are home and not working. So, I then had to take the day off work with no pay (cost about $275-$500) to wait all day for a repair person.
I got a call the night before from Sears to make sure I would be home and I said I would. I then called back in the morning to make sure they were going to be here. They said they would. But about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I got a call telling me that they had to reschedule. I told the person that this is not possible since I cannot take another day off work and now I have to go even longer without my dishwasher. The person was very rude and could not have cared less. I asked to speak to a manager and was then thrown through a loop for over an hour before getting a supposedly manager on the phone who was as unwilling to help me out and put me through another loop.
I am writing this email because I have no idea how to get my dishwasher fixed and I want some awareness of the bad customer service from Sears' side. Can anybody help me?

Dear David, I found your name on a website where I was going to post my complaint about the extremely poor customer service we have received. I do not have all of the details as I sit here waiting at home past the allotted time your service person was supposed to call. Up until now, my wife has been handling this matter. This is the 4th time this dishwasher has had to be repaired in something like 6 weeks or so. The first time my wife took off work for four hours, your service people came out and had to order parts.
Then, she took off another four hours and waited for them to come and install the parts. Then, the dishwasher went out again because of something like a capacitor. It worked three days and died again. So now I’ve taken off four hours. Well, more than that as your person is late and has the unmitigated gall not to give me a courtesy call. That is more than 16 hours of lost time. I called your service number 45 minutes ago and was told the service person would be contacted and would be told to call me. Note that I said 45 minutes ago. The phone isn’t ringing, David. Are you able to take 16 hours away from your job to have something fixed four times?
I expect Sears to find some way of compensating us for this, even if I have to file a small claim in the local district court to make you people appear on your time. Hells bells, man, for the service calls alone you could have replaced this damned thing.

We did call. They agreed that the dishwasher had been short-lived beyond reasonable expectations and offered us $100 off on labor and $100 on parts. We scheduled their repairman with that agreement in mind. They assigned a case number to the complaint.
When the repairman came on June 2, 2009, he agreed that a new motor was needed and gave us an estimate which included one, at almost twice the price it could have been obtained on the internet. I purchased three appliances and a dishwasher - installation from Sears. The contractor came to my residence without the required equipment to install my dishwasher. I was never informed by Sears or the installer that they do not secure the dishwasher to granite countertops. The installer informed my husband after he removed the screws and replaced the old dishwasher. He then informed my husband that he does not drill into granite and he can use some adhesive, which he did not have on him. He then borrowed adhesive from my husband and reassured him that it will hold. About three weeks later, I was loading my dishwasher and it gave way (the adhesive did not hold).
We contacted Sears and was told the installer would contact us within 24 hours. We did not receive a return call from the installer, so I paged him. He then contacted us and explained that he does not screw into granite and Sears was informed of this. He wanted to come back out to the house and re-attempt to glue it. I was upset at his response and told him the glue/adhesive is not going to hold. Both myself and my husband attempted to get this resolved by contacting Sears directly and made numerous phone contacts. I was told it will be forwarded to the resolution area. After a few days and no contact, we called Sears back and was told that a manager will contact us.
One week later, no response. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I received a message from a representative from Sears/BBB on my cell phone and attempted to return contact with Stacy, but she was not available. I left a message with a representative requesting she contact me on my cell phone because it is very difficult to reach me at home. I received a return call from Stacy. She called me back at home and left a voicemail message. Unfortunately, I was not available for the contact. I returned the call, but she was not available. The representative Carlette told me that Stacy attempted to contact me on my cellphone, but I was not available. I have not received any other calls via my cell phone since the first contact.
Carlette then informed me that Stacy spoke with the installer, who stated he attempted to resolve the issue by installing side brackets. I was very upset at this time and informed Carlette that this was not correct; he stated he would only come and reapply adhesive. I feel that the matter will not be handled in a fair and impartial manner, and will be withdrawing my complaint with the Sears/Better Business Bureau and attempt to resolve it through Consumer Affairs. On 7/19/2008 I purchased a Kenmore ELITE ULTRAWASH HE Dishwasher (Model 665.13153K701) at SEARS in Lanesboro, MA. I was persuaded to purchase installation through qualified SEARS technicians (?), even though very expensive (total price $1,476.35). The installers arrived more than hour late; they pulled up onto our lawn in an unmarked, rusty minivan. Within minutes, our front yard was trashed with packaging material and old dishwasher parts. They were rude and unfriendly; they seriously damaged our kitchen tile floor. And since they were so late, but my wife had a medical appointment, we had to leave them with my 12-year-old daughter, very scary. They left the kitchen in a mess and my daughter upset.
It soon became clear that the dishwasher was not working right: It would cancel cycles, often with detergent still left in the dispenser, leaving the dishes unclean and wet. The green clean light is flashing 8 times pause 1 time pause etc. When I called the Parts & Repair Service Center, I was told that I needed to let the hot water run prior to starting the dishwasher; otherwise the sensor gets confused. This was obvious nonsense, but I obliged and followed this advice; to no avail.
The second time I was told it happened because I wasn't using Rinse Aid. Again, this was nonsense (the problem had occurred prior to my running out of Rinse Aid), but I refilled the dispenser; to no avail. The third time I called, I stated I was getting frustrated, and I did not want phone advice anymore: I insisted on SEARS sending a repair technician to our home. The representative put the phone down. The fourth time I called, I stated that I was going to file a lawsuit against SEARS if no repair technician was sent to my home: Thereupon, Technician A was dispatched.
Upon arrival he said: "I really have no clue how these modern dishwashers work?" He stated he could only order a new sensor and control board, and replace them. Several days later we received in the mail a generic looking sensor and control board; probably not original parts, but cheap replacement parts. During a second visit to our home, Technician A installed the new sensor and control board. To no avail: the problem persisted. I called the Parts & Repair Center again to schedule another technician visit. I requested a different technician, since Technician A as he himself had stated didn't know what he was doing. I was promised a Senior Technician(?).
Several days later Technician B came to our home. He immediately noticed that our dishwasher wasn't level - the top of the dishwasher protruded 1 in. from under the countertop. He explained that, due to not being level, it wasn't draining properly and triggering the overflow protection float. This made sense. He spent a long time righting the dishwasher; prior to leaving he asked us to call if we had any more problems, but he seemed confident that he had found and corrected the problem.
At first it seemed that way; pretty soon, though, it became clear that the incidents of malfunction were still occurring - less frequently. Instead of having an incomplete cycle and green light blinking 8-1 every other day it now occurs once or twice a week. I called back and asked for another technician visit. I was told to call One-Source: to replace our DW a technician had to confirm it's malfunction (apparently not in the record). I asked for Technician B to come back and asked not to see Technician A again. Yet, Technician A showed up at our house. This time he declared our dishwasher was fine and our water wasn't hot enough (it is 114 F). He left, problem unsolved.
I wrote a letter asking for a replacement dishwasher, installed by proper service technicians, or my money back. Today I received a phone call: A new DW was offered, but my request for different installers could not be granted. I was told we have nothing to do with installation. Also, I was asked to provide my credit card number - which I refused.

In a week I'll buy a new one and stick this one on the curb with a sign saying Sears Lied, Maytag Lemon but not after I call and report this breach of contract to every media and blog in existence. I'll also be filing a claim in small claims court and never, every shopping a Sears/Maytag again.

My two brothers and I helped purchase a Kenmore dishwasher, 12-31-08, for my mother who is 84 yrs. old. The dishwasher had to be ordered and picked up. My brother picked it up and installed it and my mother used it about three times and already the pump has quit. My mom is a cancer patient. She don't need something that don't work. They came out Monday 2-23-09 and told her it was the pump gone bad. Now she has to wait another 10 or so days to even get the parts and probably another week to get someone to repair it. I will never buy another appliance at Sears. My mom told them she wanted her money back, but they act like they can't help her.
To me when you purchase an appliance of any kind and it don't work any longer then that person should get their money back or a new appliance. They won't even talk to her about exchanging it or repairing and I know from experience that most of the time motors, pumps, etc. are rebuilt ones even though they say new.

I purchased a Sears Kenmore dishwasher at the end of September, 2008. It supposedly had a 1 year warranty. I bought the unit specifically because it had a sanitize cycle. After a few months, the sanitize cycle stopped working. I called Sears, and on week one repairman #1 came out, and ordered a part. Week 2, repairman #1 came and installed the part. Still didn't work. Week 3, repairman #2 came out, ordered 2 more parts. Week 4, repairman #1 came back, installed the 2 parts. Still didn't work. Week 5, repairman #1 back out, poked around, called on the phone, spoke to the manufacturer, who said the problem was that I wasn't using the right type of detergent (he claimed that I needed powder instead of tablets).
Needless to say, this switching from tablets to powder had nothing to do with anything. Still doesn't work. Repairman himself admitted that the machine is a lemon, and that he didn't believe what the manufacturer was saying about powder vs. tablets. Needless to say, he was right. It STILL doesn't work. Sears refuses to replace the unit. They say that they will just keep sending repairmen out, week after week, until 4 parts have been replaced on 4 separate occasions (2 parts on the same day counts as one 1 part).
The repairman, however, has stopped replacing parts as he doesn't feel that there is anything else to replace that would fix the sanitize function. The machine is still under warranty, but apparently that means nothing. I cannot continue to have repairmen come out every week, while I sit home for entire afternoon, and see no progress on resolving the issue. Sanitize cycle is a feature that I really want on the machine, as I have health issues. I am forced to be available every week for an entire afternoon waiting for repairmen who are unable to fix the thing, and have as much as admitted so.

My wife and I purchased new Kenmore Elite kitchen appliances (Refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher). Within a few weeks of install, we noticed that the dishwasher did not dry the dishes. Our inquiry prompted the response that stainless appliances created condensation if the door was not opened to release the steam. (This was not disclosed to us during the purchase.) Soon, we noticed that our dishes did not seem to be cleaned. We placed a service call and a service tech did some work. Several service calls later, we still have issues. Complaints to Customer Service have elevated to us requesting to speak to the supervisor, who happens to be busy, but will return our call.
We've never had a return call! I feel that the money we spent on this appliance and the efforts we have used to correct the problem have been unsatisfactory. I feel like we are being dragged along and am fearful that we will reach a point that warranty will no longer cover any service calls and we will continue to have problems. I realize that manufacturers have defect problems and am simply wanting our issue resolved to our satisfaction or a replacement.

The solenoid value on the dishwasher failed. Instead of just not working it's designed in a way that water leaks out of the unit all over your kitchen floor. We were so excited. Finally I had my dream appliances coming. Ordered new upgraded refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microhood. It was a $4,300+ order. We made arrangements for charity to pick up the old appliances (except broken D/W) and anxiously awaited. At the last minute, we get a call from the Sears store telling us they aren't delivering the appliances because the dishwasher is on back order. We ask why they aren't delivering the other three appliances. Store says that isn't corporate policy. We inquire, "What are we suppose to do without appliances for the next two weeks?" - Not their problem. Why weren't we notified and asked if it was okay to deliver the appliances WITHOUT the dishwasher - bring the D/W when it arrives.
The store told us the warehouse made the decision not to send the appliances for delivery. We called everywhere - corporate, delivery, warehouse, the store. Each party blamed the other. Warehouse insist that the decision was the store not them. Store insist it's the warehouse's fault. Corporate wouldn't even take the complaint - kept sending us to online delivery. Which didn't know about the order because we purchased at the store not online. Obviously customer service and making a sale are NOT what SEARS is about. We had to cancel the order and start all over looking for something that can be delivered same day since we have NO APPLIANCES now and food sitting on the counter melting. NEVER BUY SEARS if you want customer service.

To begin with, it takes entirely too long to get a technician to come out to your home. I don't understand why Sears doesn't have more people to work for them to get the jobs done faster. My dishwasher has been broken for about a month now - maybe more, I've lost track. I called the first time and it was going to be about 10 days before the technician could get there. I reserved that date but called the plumber in the meantime. I really felt like it was a plumbing issue. But the plumber said it wasn't and he thought it was the pump (the dishwasher won't drain). The plumber cost me $59.
When the first Sears guy finally got out here, he said it was part of the motor. He quoted me for the part and labor, part being $112.32 and labor being $193. And the service call he had made cost $69 already. My dishwasher, new, retails for about $300, give or take a little depending on where you buy it. He told me it was his opinion that the washer might not be worth the repair. He gave me the option of going through with it there and then for him to order it and schedule the repair or that I could take my time to think about whether to repair or replace it. He gave me a printout, which I still have, with all the info about the estimate on it, including the name of the part (As I discovered later, the name he gave me didn't exist - SUB MOTOR is what it said. I only found out after calling a few times to a few places that it was the motor/pump assembly that I really needed). He said I could order it myself and it might be cheaper that way, and that I could install it myself really easily or call Sears when I got it and they'd come do it for me. Regardless of who ordered it, the part would come to me and then Sears would come later.
I chose to wait and talk to my husband and do a little research into costs of replacing it. Never did the guy tell me that my rights were basically stripped at the moment I declined his estimate. So it took me about a week or so to decide what to do. I had the help of a family member who knows best how to do this kind of research and we decided to buy the part ourselves and install it ourselves. In comparison pricing, we found that Sears (with shipping fees) was comparable to another site (with only a shipping fee if you wanted 2-day shipping) and the shipment arrival date was about the same, maybe one day off and about $6 different.
I went with Sears b/c they were the cheaper by the $6. I placed my order online on Dec 20 and it said it should arrive on Dec 23. Notice how close this is to Christmas, and I had to entertain both Christmas and the day after. I really needed my washer fixed. But the part didn't arrive until the 29th. And when it came it didn't solve the problem. So I called 18004MYHOME that night and went directly to the parts dept. That's where I met a woman whose name I think was Martha. She was so incredibly rude and unhelpful. She was acting like this was my fault for not taking the technician up on his estimate and told me that I couldn't return it b/c I ordered it myself and opened it. I told her I only ordered it b/c the guy I paid to come out and tell me what's wrong told me to order that.
The DW was still doing the same exact thing as before, as if the new part had no effect whatsoever. She kept asking if I thought the part was defective and I told her, "How was I supposed to know?" I told her I thought the service was defective. I kept asking her who I should talk to about this and she said she didn't know. I told her she works for Sears and ought to know who to direct my call to. Finally I told her to connect me with Service. That guy, David, was much nicer. I knew he couldn't do what I wanted him to do for me but he did express that he understood my frustration and what I was trying to say - which is this: if Sears told me what part to buy, they should be responsible for it if it doesn't fix the problem. It shouldn't matter who ordered the part. I only ordered it b/c the Sears guy told me to.
So now in order to find out if the part is the wrong part or if it is a defective part, I have to wait for more than 2 more weeks for another technician to come back out, and if he installs it then it will cost me another $193. If he finds that the part was the wrong part then apparently I don't get my money back for it and I'd have to order a new one. So a new washer is looking really nice right about now - from another company! But meanwhile, this part, which won't be returned for me, and the lousy service which didn't help me, have cost me close to $200 and I've already found my dishwasher available for $249. All I'm asking for now is for them to take back the part, give me my money back, and let me go on my merry way with a new washer from another brand. All my kitchen appliances are Kenmore and our tools are Craftsman. We've got a lot invested in Sears for them to treat us this way. We won't be dealing with them anymore if this isn't resolved in our favor.

Sears has changed their way of doing business. The standard was all parts and labor for one year with the motor five years. I did not buy the extended warranty for dw but for the stove. Sears changed their warranties about three years ago unknown to me. I tried working out some type of settlement but the manager only offered the purchase of new dw for $550.00. Needless to say, I turn down the offer. A dw should last for more than 14 months, especially a high model. You should not be forced to purchase a service contract for a appliance that good for at least five years. I don't have many options. I will not recommending Sears appliances that for sure.

It does not wash the dishes, instead it spreads the detergent all over the dishes, and bakes it on. When the wash cycle is complete, the detergent will not come off, even with steel wool. Therefore, my wife's dishes and cookware are ruined by a coat of white material. They are actually etched? by the water/detergent. I first called Sears within a few days for a repair, after a very lengthy scheduling/repair visit/order parts/installation procedure, (which takes at least 3 weeks each time), the washer is still not fixed.
I asked for a new dishwasher. But Sears says there must be at least 3 service calls to my house before they will even consider replacing it. As well as telling me that it is up to their service technician to determine if the unit needs to be replaced, not me. So far, I have had at least four different service technicians come to my house and attempt to repair this dishwasher. And subsequently, each technician blames the previous technician for incorrect procedures and repairs. I tried to call the Sears contractor but they told me to call the service department they don't handle returns. I tried to call the service department, but they told me only the district manager of the contractor can handle authorizing an exchange.
I asked for my money back, but according to every service department member, no one here has that authority? He called his boss and told me a new part would be furnished and someone would be back in 2 days to finish the install.
A week later I called sears and was told that the installation people couldn't order parts like that, the consumer had to call if there was a problem. Didn't make much sense to me, but whatever. We bought our Kenmore elite dishwasher (ultra wash * quietguard deluxe model #655.13753K601), retail value @$850.00 just 18mos. before it brokedown. We bought the dishwasher because it rated well in Consumer Reports, was on sale and most importantly, we wanted a quiet, RELIABLE dishwasher. However, we encountered small, annoying problems from the start. For one, the dishes did not come out very clean, I chalked that up to hard water, so I followed the user quide on what to do for that with a little improvement.
Another problem was with the detergent dispenser --the door quite frequently gets stuck and never opens during the cycle and the soap (only powder kind) ends up making a hardened ball of detergent that gets stuck in the dispenser area and is difficult to clean out.
When it broke down, it appeared that water was leaking from the door and the electrical panel wasn't responding. I trouble shooted (using the user guide) but to no avail. Since the two suspected problems were still under warranty, I went on-line to Sears.com. Besides their phone service taking about 30 minutes to get to the right department and being disconnected once (bad customer service, transferred to 3 different departments and no one seemed to know what they were doing except one guy)
But the doozy that was the last straw for me was how Sears handles their repair/warranty problems. Once I was able to schedule my appointment, I was dismayed to learn I had to wait 2 1/2 weeks just to get somebody to come look at it. Since I think the problem is covered by warranty, I'm stuck in waiting for their guy. I sent an e-mail complaining of their service and all I got back was a sorry but that's the way it is.
The worst is, the day the service guy was to come, I receive a phone call saying he called in sick and needed to reschedule the appointment, first available appt. being in 15 days. So it will be over a month before I get service (unless he call in sick again, it could be even longer.) So my experience with Sears/Kenmore is that their dishwashers are unreliable and their service is horrendous. They could care less about their customers once they rope you into buying their product. I will NEVER buy another Kenmore product. It has been a huge waste of time for me and a great, frustrating, disappointing experience.
Luckily the leak did not cause any damage to the floor. It wasn't a drain issue, the water came from the dishwasher door and cleaned up promptly.

The repairman did fix the dishwasher without charge, and it worked 11 more months.
Within a month of the warranty expiring however, the dishwasher broke down never to run again. The little wheels on the racks had been coming off for months, but the breakdown was the bottom rotating washer stopped moving. We learned that the cost of a repairman visit would be about $200. (As an aside, our brand new washing machine from Sears also leaks--repairman out 3 times: still leaks.)
Just before the dishwasher 1 year warranty expired, we received an offer from Sears to buy an extended warranty for 70% of the price of the original dishwasher. We purchased all of our appliances at Sears on 09/28/07 for our new home that we were building. They were delivered the end of January 2008. We moved in to the house March 7, 2008. Around April 18 my Frigidaire Professional series Aqua Surge dishwasher (model # PLD4375RFC) shut off and showed an error code. We called customer service and they sent someone out to repair it on April 23. The vent located on the top of the machine was the problem. After waiting for parts we were back in business two weeks later. The other issue is because the vent is on the top of the machine it is leaving a big stain in our very expensive granite countertops, heating the counter up so much that you can not touch it and I am quite sure the moisture is not very good for the maple cabinet it is installed in.
Well another six weeks goes by and the same error code. This time though when the vent failed to open the heater kept running melting the sprayer arm and all of our plastic cups and Tupperware that was in the washer at the time. Thankfully I was home and noticed a burning smell and shut it off before it caught on fire. This is a serious safety issue. It took over three weeks this time to be repaired. Again the vent was the main cause. The moisture causes the circuit board in the vent to corrode and short out. The appliance repair company informed me that this will continue to fail until Frigidaire addresses the issue. Now four days after the repair all the dishes on the top rack will not come clean. After reading dozens of complaints online about other people having the same issue its obvious this machine has serious design issues.
I have called Frigidaire; they told me it has to happen three times before they will replace it. And then it will be the same model that I have. The one that is destroying my granite and has spent more time broken than not. When I called Sears they told me I had 90 days to exchange it. But it was 90 days from when I purchased it, not 90 days from delivery. So, I would have had to decide to exchange it while it was still in the warehouse. So after spending $6999.93 with Sears they tell me sorry the product we sold you was junk, thank you for all your money. $2899.98 of that was on Frigidaire products (double wall ovens & dishwasher) and none of them will do anything to solve the problem.

My kenmore dishwasher that I bought a year and a half ago, will not drain. It just has water sitting inside of it. I called sears to complain and was told that they don't have a manager and that maybe I shouldn't have purchased a kenmore product. They were rude and not even a little bit helpful.
I have standing water in the appliance which I can't get out, because it is a built in dishwasher.

I had a dishwasher installed and in the middle of installing it the repair man noticed a dent and said he would get a new one and be in contact about that. Ten days later and nothing, so I called Sears. I talked to a customer service representative and was put on hold for 49 mins and 46 seconds before I finally hung up. Then I called back and asked to talk to a manager in dishwashers and I was hung up on.
Then I asked to talk to a manager in customer service and a loud beeping came over the phone. I tried again and the same thing happened. So I called again and told them I wanted to talk to someone and didn't want to be transfered or put on hold, so they transfered me to fine jewelry and then I was put on hold twice (for 20 minutes total) before a store manager finally came on and got the dishwasher manager to call me back. The only reson I had to call in the first place was that their product was damaged. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM SEARS AGAIN!!!

This very expensive dishwasher worked a little over a year, then starting making a horrible noise in every wash and rinse cycle.I have gone in on the web to see if there are recalls for this make dishwasher. I can find none. However, I did find many customers with the same complaint. Some customers said their product was not even a year old.
Called Sears. They could care less that this product was expensive and lasted a little over one year. They have begun to tell me that it is 70.00 just for someone to come here to tell me it is malfunctioning. The last time they sent someone...the person could not speak English.

On May 21 of this year, I purchased a Kenmore dishwasher on line through Sears.com for a total purchase price, including tax, of $358.61. The dishwasher was delivered approximately one week later. At the time of purchase, I mistakenly believed I had ordered installation, and was surprised when the delivery team was unable to install the unit. I telephoned the installation team and requested an appointment and was told that none was available for more than a week. Unable to wait that long, I hired an independent contractor to install the unit, at the cost of $100.
Unfortunately, the unit was damaged in delivery and did not work properly. I called for service, and waited another week for a technician to come. He informed me that the water pump had been broken in transit (which, according to the technician, is a very common problem with this brand) but was unable to make the repair as the part had to be ordered. This struck me as poor business--if the breakage is common, why wouldn't the repair team have replacement parts on hand?
I ordered the part, waited five days for delivery, and one week after the initial repair visit, awaited the return of the repair man, who unfortunately called to cancel (at the very end of a four-hour window) as he was delayed. I rescheduled the appointment for the following day, the repairman arrived, installed the part (but not before giving himself an alarming electric shock after failing to disconnect the power on the unit prior to installing the part). He verified? that the unit was functioning properly and left. Sadly, it wasn't.
Because the unit was fewer than 90 days old, I qualified to have it replaced. This time, I specifically requested installation, and agreed to the additional charges. I received a computer generated call verifying that the delivery and installation would occur on the agreed-upon date, and then followed up that call by again verifying that the replacement unit would be delivered and installed. I was told that it would. When the delivery people arrived, they refused to remove the faulty unit and install the new one. I telephoned Sears again only to discover that no installation had been requested, and was informed that an additional fee of $140 would be charged for the installation. (Originally, I'd been told that the fee would be $65.) However, again, no one would be available to install the replacement unit for more than a week.
Because the faulty dishwasher had not yet been disconnected, the delivery was not completed at that time (this would now be the fifth afternoon I had taken off from work to deal with this issue). I had to hire a contractor to disconnect the faulty unit (at a charge of $80) and made arrangements for him to return to install the replacement unit when it arrived.
Delivery was rescheduled for Sunday, June 31. The delivery people arrived with an open box, did not remove the unit from the box or inspect it, and took the faulty unit away. My contractor then arrived only to discover that pieces were missing from the replacement unit which rendered it unuseable. However, he was still obliged to charge me for the appointment. I wrote him another check for $80, and called Sears to arrange to have the second unit picked up.
Thus far, a dishwasher that has NEVER worked properly has cost me $618money I can little afford to waste. In addition, I have spent approximately 40 hours of my time either on the phone or awaiting a repair or delivery. As I myself am a contractor, when I don't work, I don't get paid, further causing me financial loss. I am extremely disappointed in both the level of service and the quality of the merchandise I have received from Sears, and seriously doubt I will ever make another purchase from your company.
In calling to try to address the issues I was having, I was disconnected repeatedly, had to repeat my information and the details of the problems over and over again on each phone call, as it appears that each branch of Sears (Sears Oakland, Sears.com, Sears Service Center, and the third-party delivery company) works independently and no continuity of customer information exists between branches. In an unstable economy, one of the most important differentiators a company can offer is excellent customer service. In this regard, Sears is failing miserably.

I called them and I was informed that my submission was ok and they would send me a check in one to four weeks. As I could not locate the original receipt, I was happy I called. What would have happen had I not called is a mystery to me. I have purchased a new refrigerator & dishwasher from Sears in the last 8 m0nths. The rebate on the Fridge came in the form of a credit card worth $50. I had ask for a check. A salesperson at the store also called for me & repeated that I wanted a check. I wait for 40 minutes for help; it turns out the refrigerator person rang up the sale anyway. I did not catch the sales associates name but his number is 4655. The associate from the dishwasher department was on a wild goose chase with a customer that was just looking not buying like me.
I purchased a dishwasher, 3 year warranty and installation; with tax it came to $628.02 Dominick was the manager yesterday evening and all he did was apologize and tell me all his associates were busy, he did not offer to help at all, just ran off to do something else. I purchased the dishwasher and they apologized again, but were not sorry enough to give me some-thing for me waiting that long. I know a discount can be deducted further from the purchase if they were so inclined. I got the paperwork and was told to call for installation, but if I wanted to wait they will call me within 24-48 hours. I do not believe anything now.
I called the number 800- at 2:45 pm PST listened to the IVR and select 5 had to wait again for 10 minutes for someone to answer the phone. The person that answered the phone told me she could send an email to the plumbing company that was going to install my dishwasher. I asked for the phone number of the plumbing company; I called the plumbing company I got another recording telling me the operating hours from 7:00a to 3:00p. I left a message; it was 3:15p PST. What I am upset about is the lack of concern at wasting my time at every point of contact along the way. The proverbial shoulder shrug, what can I do!
I worked at Sears years ago and if I had given that kind of service, I would be fired. I know Sears was purchased by someone else and it is not at all like the old Sears; if you are going to have the name live up to the standard. The only reason I went to Sears is that the service was supposed to be better than Home Depot or Lowes which are both very close and I now know I should have chosen one of the other stores.
I want you to do something about this problem. If you want to keep your customer base happy, I suggest you find away to make me happy. Refund the installations cost or give me an over all discount on my purchase; Sales check # 014781224959 phone number 650-464-0534.

My husband and I built our dream home last year (finished in January 2007). We moved in at the end of February. We had purchased all our our appliances at Sears in December of 2006. Although they were not installed until February 2007, the warranty starts from the time you buy it, not from the time you receive it, even if it is on back order.
Anyhow, we have had problems with pretty much all of our appliances from Sears. The major complaint being with the dishwaher. Keep in mind this was not a cheap dishwasher. We opted to buy a more expensive item, based on quality and features. Since it was installed in February of 2007, there have been 13 service calls to Sears. Some, their techs did not show up for. Some, their techs would be scheduled for 8 - 5 and call at 6 or 7 to say they were still busy and would get out sometime before 9p. This is completely uncalled for.
They have replaced parts and have actually been out to work on the machine 7 times. The dishwasher still does not work properly and, now, Sears states its out of warranty so they won't replace it and they are going to start charging for the service calls. When do you just say enough is enough and hire an attorney to sue Sears? I mean, come on, Sears needs to take responsibility for selling sub-par appliances and just replace the ones that go bad. The money they spend in sending out service techinicians and replacing parts far exceeds the amount it would have cost them to replace the dishwasher. Frustrating telephone calls and idiotic service technicians have made me know that I will NEVER buy another appliance from Sears. You cannot trust them to back up what they sell.
I am still waiting for some kind of resolution from Sears. I have ANOTHER appointment scheduled for this Thursday. If something is not done to fix or replace the dishwasher, my next call is to my attorney.

I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am in SEARS and SEARS SERVICE. We have been customers of Sears for the past 15+ years, EVERYTHING we own has been purchased at Sears. At this point I am going to be taking my business elsewhere. About 2 weeks ago (at MOST) we purchased a dishwasher from Sears, we were guaranteed by the salesman that it COULD be installed the following Monday. Well that did not happen, it did LATE Tues. That is ONLY the beginning of the issues.
So after we had the dishwasher installed we used it as that is what one does when they purchase a new dishwasher. I received a call from my dog walker today, May 6th 2008 @ 3:09 PM, and she stated that the dishwasher was running (I put it on the 4 hour delay when I left) and the pipe had burst UNDER the sink that connects the water to the sink and that I had MANY inches of standing water on my brand new hard wood floors. The area under my sink which contains all my cleaning supplies was completely flooded and all the items under their were ruined and could no longer be used. I contacted a plumber and he took a look at it and then informed me that the pipe was put on BACKWARDS and then SLIPPED off from the pressure of the water.
So I have now had to contact a plumber at my own expense to fix something that is BRAND NEW and that SHOULD have been properly installed.
Then I contact customer service department where I spend over an HOUR of MY TIME on the phone being transferred and disconnected a number of times, then after waiting I am informed that the SOONEST a technician can come out to inspect the damage to see who's fault this is will be about 2 weeks. Not until Saturday, the 17th of May. As my husband and I both work and have already taken off an entire afternoon to wait for installation we refuse to take any additional time off, as we did not create this or cause it why should we continue to be inconvenienced? I asked CS person if someone could please come out sooner and they said NO! My frustration is that my home is NEW, I have hardwood floors in my kitchen and in the next 2 weeks they may (and possibly will) warp, develop mold and an odor. I am so frustrated right now. As a customer whether I have bought from Sears for years or only bought one time, I AM A CUSTOMER and I expect to be treated with a little common courteousy and respect.
[The] representative told me, how do they know it was a mistake made by the installer? How do they not know I MADE THE MISTAKE. Well I am not a plumber and if I was, I most certainly would NOT have installed the pipe backwards so that it can leak and then POP OFF spilling gallons of water into my home! And since this was an emergency and I had a plumber arrive ASAP and FIX the issue, how will [they] know that it was NOT a fault of the customer? People want to purchase from companies they can trust and have faith in. AT this time WE DO NOT.

While he was here, he sold me a 1yr warranty on several of my appliances, total in all was $330. About 30 mins after he left the dishwasher stopped working again so I called Sears to get him or someone else back out. The earliest they could have someone out was the following Tuesday.
Another technician came out that Tuesday and checked out the dishwasher and said he would have to order parts and quoted me $434 for this visit, I of course brought out the fact that I had bought a warranty and that I wasn't going to pay anymore money for parts or services. He told me my warranty wouldn't cover this and left shortly after our conversation. I then called Sears to find out what I just paid $330 for that previous Tuesday. After an hour on the phone and about 8 separate transfers I spoke with someone who told me that my warranty was good and the technician made a mistake. She then gave me the phone number to my repair center in Kansas City, MI. I called them on Wednesday in which they contacted the Tech Manager and about an hour after speaking to them the same service tech called me and said guess what? We purchased a dishwasher in May of 1998 (Kenmore/Whirlpool - 464.). Subsequently, every 3 months the machine would stop working. Each time, it took Sears two weeks to order parts and come and fix it (we have an extended warranty -- up until lately, I think).
Each time (four at last count), the technicians replaced the same little fuse/thermocoupling. Each time the machine stops, we smell something burning.
The technicians think we should have a new machine. Sears is playing hide and seek with us and won't talk to us at all anymore because we had the temerity to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. We actually had someone at Sears say they had been instructed not to talk to us.
Seems that is the case in all the departments (service etc.). We are now in limbo. BBB is waiting for Sears to resolve, but I rather doubt it. We are waiting for the fuse to blow again.
Well, its a pain in the bumper, but we're also kind of scared of this machine, because this part is in the door (plastic) and is a THERMO-coupling fuse. Also Kenmore-Whirlpool dishwashers were recalled in 1996 for a VERY similar problem by the CPSC.
