Worst product I've ever purchased. Have to leave door open when not washing or it mildews and smells. If clothes stay in washer after washing they start to smell. All the writing on the dials has come off. Can't tell what setting you’re on. Samsung will do nothing. Have an extended warranty from home depot, they will do nothing.

My husband and I purchased a Samsung front load washer from Sears just over 4 years ago (April 17, 2010). We were happy with our purchase until last week when the machine would not spin. I performed the tests from the manual to see if I could get the tub spinning again, but it did not work. The manual said to contact a repair service. We contacted Sears who sent a tech to come look at the machine (we didn't buy an extended warranty). He said usually there is something that gets caught in the machine like a sock or something and once it's removed it should be fine. Upon his inspection he said nothing was stuck, but that the drum had disintegrated. The repair cost is $1,200 (almost twice of what we paid for it). He said these type of washers don't work well with water softness which was never discussed when we purchased the machine. We were charged $84 for his service call. I am planning on writing to Samsung to complain about their product, but after reading these reviews it doesn't sound like it will make a difference.

I bought this set in June 13 with stands for $2,000. I regretted this purchase almost immediately. Washer takes forever to do a load of clothes. After finally finishing the clothes in washer, then the real fun begins with the dryer. When you start the dryer, it will tumble the clothes into a tight ball and nothing dries except the outside of the ball of clothes. Stop, untangle, ball back up, stop untangle, ball back up, stop, untangle, add tennis balls (per Samsung suggestion), ball back up, stop, untangle and on and on.
Samsung sent their repair people out on two occasions and did nothing. Samsung support told me they were working the way they were designed to work. (I've never owned a set that worked this way.) The last time I used these, I spent 12 hours trying to wash and dry 3 loads of clothes. After dealing with this for 1 yr. and 5 mos, the stress factor was too much, so I donated them. I replaced them with top load washer and dryer set made in USA that aren't made with plastic gears and electronic panels. Samsung can make a good looking set, but they sure don't perform.

First that was not enough water, the clothes stay dry through washing. They told me it's energy and water efficiency. I start to add more water by myself. Then it was something like loose part I can hear during washing. Still there. The worst part, it mixed up all my water setting for temperature, when I need hot, it's barely warm or cold, and for the wool, for example, it give me super hot water. Of course it was after my coverage was gone, now I add more water every time I wash (take another 20 min), and mix water by myself to the temp I need. Take so much time. Have other problems, like others, rust, and bad smell if I cant take my clothes out right away. I have to wash it 2nd time then. Dryer work ok for a while, now I notice it's make burning spots on my towels, or pillowcases. I can't understand how. Feel so bad, I spend so much money, and can't use it normally.

I purchases a samsung VRT Steam front loader washer July 2013 from Best Buy. Within two months of having the washer, I noticed a terrible mildew type odor. I contacted Best Buy and they sent a technician out and I was given pointers to eliminate the odor. I did everything they advised me to do and the odor still persisted. I called them again and they came out and still very bad if not worse. Right before the warranty was up, I decided this was ridiculous and contacted Samsung. They sent a repair person out and he informed me that this was a type of manufacturer defect with front loaders. And other than all the things I was doing.....sanitize cycle with vinegar or bleach, wiping it down after each wash, leaving door open, empty a tray and hose line, there really isn't anything that can be done.
Let me point out the service by Best Buy and Samsung has been wonderful. The service reps on the phone and those that have come to my house were very attentive and tried to give me as much advice and ideas to alleviate the odor as they could but the problem still exists. The product itself is a good washing machine but it is overshadowed by the smell and because I have to leave the door to the washer open, my laundry room also smells. I realize at this point, I am stuck with this product but I just wanted to put it out there in case there are others with this same experience or thinking of buying this particular front loader.

So disappointed with Samsung's handling of my front loader washer problems reported in the first 30 days of purchase. I've spent countless hours on the phone, missed several days of work, had repairman out 3 times, continue to get errors, washer spins and spins for hours creating burning smell, loud motor jamming/stalling noise between cycles, no water on some cycles, too much on others, clothes come out dirty and smelly. Water drips down front of machine during wash with door closed and seal wiped clean/dry. Virtually ruined all of our clothes because sets in dirt causing stains. Some clothes actually have only a few water spots after the load is finished washing and the rest of the item is still dry. The list goes on but Samsung keeps telling me that the washer needs to be deemed defective to return it. What more proof do you need?!?! No service - Even accused me of coming up with new issues - like I'm asking for this! I have young kids and work full time and do not have time to spend all weekend doing laundry! 3+ hours to wash one load is absurd! Stay away from Samsung appliances!!!!! They do not care about their customers.

Purchased a Samsung front load washer WF350QANWAA04 from Lowe's along with a dryer. First problem was I noticed a musty smell in the washer and couldn't figure out why. Evidently you need to leave the door open some to prevent this from happening. Second problem was with the door latch - it will not stay latched during the wash cycle regardless of the size of the wash load. The only way I can use the washer is to wedge a long broom handle between the door and an opposing wall which prevents the door from opening. I checked with Lowe's to see if there had been a recall but evidently not.

have a problem with the pot metal yoke that attaches the inner tub to the drive shaft. This problem starts with a vibration from an out of balance yoke because of soap residue and failure of this part. This should be a factory recall. Samsung has a good washer but it is unacceptable to have a major failure in 2 to 4 years on a machine that could last 10 years if this failure was addressed.

Offered me a extended warranty $361. Exceeds the price including repairs we have already paid for the washer. I have since made several calls, emails, requests, been irate, reported to department of fair trading and NOTHING. It's now the 18/11/14 and I continue to get an occasional reply of "Your refund request is being looked at, should take 7-10 working days"... I too had extensive rust around bleach dispenser but they did send someone out to replace top housing even though it was out of warranty. Of course after that the softener dispenser never drained just on occasion. Now the water runs for maybe 30 seconds and then just slowly spends. Took one water hose off to check filter but of course there was no filter on the faucet side and water is coming out of faucet. These washers are crap. They should take them off the market. It is only 3 years old and of course their last fix was "an exception" because it was out of warranty. I'm sure they won't do anything about it but I will raise hell once again.

So I bought a Samsung washer and dryer only three months ago!!! Already the dryer has broken down. I cannot believe it could break down this quickly... Obviously not very well made. The problem began three weeks ago. To start with we were on the phone with Trail whom we bought the product from, who then referred us to some Samsung operator over in India, who then referred us to someone else and lastly were told we should receive a call from a repairman in a few days. First of all what a ridiculous system. We were told when we bought the machine they had a great way to deal with repairs. Two to three hours on the phone and calling multiple people does not seem great to me. Now even with that problem aside we got a repairman a week later (now a week without a dryer).
He claims it's some sort of sensor and says he will order the part and schedule another appointment. Now it's three weeks without a dryer and they came today with the parts to fix it which didn't work. He now claims they need to order different parts because Samsung sent the wrong ones. He even showed me the order number to confirm what he asked for is not what he got. Now they will have to order another part and be back in another two weeks. That will be 5 weeks without a dryer!!!! I don't know about everyone else but I have a job and University, I don't have time to be flying around the city trying to wash my clothes. Let alone I should not have these problems from a three-month-old dryer!!!! Avoid please! These products are made poorly and not worth the money at all!!!

I had contacted a customer service rep from technical department at Samsung about my 3.5 yr. old Samsung washer on November 1st and November 3rd (notification number **) whom initially informed me that Samsung offered me a first time extension warranty on parts and labor at no cost to me after I submitted my model and serial number to her. A&E repair did not have it in their system for coverage. I called Samsung to reconfirm (notification **) what was offered to me and they reversed their decision leaving me holding a repair quote for $700 from A&E repair technician. Samsung claimed they would not cover repair and it would do me no good to pursue this matter.
After the call the A&E repair technician charge me $60 and informed me if I chose to have them to do the repair it would cost an additional $30. Wow not a scratch on washer and my wife and I are the only ones in our home. We also maintained the washer by cleaning out the filter. I informed Samsung I would not be irritated if they did not inform me I would be covered with a first time extension warranty. I also proceeded to inform Samsung that this was bad business ethics. After researching my problem I discovered that my issue with Samsung washer is a common failure. What I discovered was that the drum is probably good, however the spider bracket is broken. Cost of part less than $100. I never thought Samsung would practice bad business ethics with their customers. I will see what options are available at this point with this washer and what direction I will pursue.

The rust is getting on my clothes now... I searched the internet to find Youtube videos regarding this problem, complaints on amazon, complaints on the Samsung site, complaints all over the place. 11/11/14 I called Samsung. First I spoke with a John at the Samsung in the Caribbean, he then transfers me to a Jay employee #**. Samsung said they are sorry but there is nothing they can do with rust it's not covered under their warranty. They both said, "Read your book. The warranty clearly doesn't cover rust."
I asked for a manager. He said there is no manager there. I asked for his supervisor. He said there is not supervisor. However, Jay said he can have Rosie call me in 24-48 hours... I said, "Okay so no management is managing Samsung employees regarding consumer complaints?" I told Jay, "it's all over the internet, how can Samsung not see their machines are defective..." My goodness I spent over $2,200 for my machines used them for three years and I now will have to purchase new ones if Sears can't fix my machine... I just had the pump housing failure on my Samsung top-loader washing machine that lots of people have been describing on this website. Luckily it happened when I switched it on so only my kitchen was flooded before I managed to switched it off. The machine was 2 weeks out of warranty so Sears refused to do anything but I called Samsung and they agreed to fix it as a goodwill gesture. This has now been done with the upgraded mounting. However, the relay that switches the drain pump is now jammed on. The technician said it was probably caused by the water leak. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am now waiting to see if Samsung will pay for a new control board to fix this latest issue.

I have model WA5451ANW as so many other posters do. I also assure you this is NOT from over filling. Samsung gave me the same song and dance regarding physical/cosmetic damage (both terms used). They want me to pay a local company $125 to send a tech out and diagnose the issue. Well the local company told me that this is almost always cosmetic once Samsung views the issue via photos the tech sends them. Purchased a top of the line Samsung Washing Machine front loader back in 2011 and it has been nothing but a nightmare. Clothes smell and don't rinse properly. It takes forever to wash so what you're saving on water you’re spending in electric. The bleach dispenser does not distribute correctly while washing and causes the clothes to produce burn holes or bleach blotches. Three and one half years later it breaks down receiving "error code no drain call for service." First service call and the gentleman said it may need a pump. He orders the pump, comes to do the repair and it still did not work. Called for service again to come and they gave me an appointment a week later. A different service man comes and said it may be my drain. I call a plumber and 185.00 later no problem with the drain.
Call the service company again and tell them I need service again. They give me another appointment a week later. Service man shows up and said it may need a motherboard which is the control front panel with all the electronics. He orders it and I wait another week for the part and service call. The gentlemen shows up and puts the part in and said, “this should do it” and leaves. Put a load in the washer and run the machine and THE SAME ERROR CODE APPEARS AGAIN. Call for service again and they give me an appointment a week later. Man comes and said we have to change the rotor, electrical wiring kit and something else. Another week I wait for the parts and another service call. Service man comes and puts in the parts and says, “This should be it because there is nothing left to change.” Man leaves and I start a wash and wait by the machine. Seventeen minutes later I hear and see ERROR NO DRAIN CALL FOR SERVICE.
Call again for service and a different man comes and said, "I will try replacing the pressure valve". The repair man orders the part and I wait again. Four days later the part comes and the repairman arrives to my home and replaces the part. He leaves and I put a load in and the same ERROR NO DRAIN CALL FOR SERVICE comes up. I give up. I want a replacement now. Lost six days of work, 328.00 dollars in laundry service, 185.00 dollars for a non-clogged drain, 110.00 in service tips and 324.00 for a service warranty. All I could say is STAY FAR AWAY FROM SAMSUNG.

DV520AEP/XAA - I am amazed at the reviews submitted by consumers regarding problems with the front load washers are being ignored by the company. You would think they would have a task force looking into these matters. I purchased our washer in 2010 and had it installed in our Florida Home and it stood idle until Nov 2011. It is only 3 years old and now I am replacing a circulating pump to the tune of $200.00. I should not feel compelled in buying extended warranties on equipment that should last for many years, not a few years. We were told that the pump had a 1 year warranty and that this has been a problem with the front load models. I will certainly pay close attention to customer reviews next time I'm in the market for household goods. Respectfully Submitted.

Well, after having to give them my credit card for a $150 charge, was told a repairman would be sent. After 7 days and no call, email or response of any kind, called back and was told parts were on order and should be in the next day.
Two days later still no response so called again. Again was told waiting on parts. I asked to speak to this person's supervisor and got Andrew (who I found out later was higher than her supervisor). He checked and found out my part had came in that day, Thursday. He talked to repairman and set up appoint for today, Saturday, and the repairman just left and told us washer is not repairable. The drum bearings were shot.
Now why do they have a 10 year warranty on something that almost never goes out? But from reviews I have read, the same problem has occurred on several washing machines. Will never by a Samsung appliance product again. They are cheap, junk machines and not worth the money. With only two people the washer should have lasted more than 4 1/2 years. I have a Samsung WF219ANW/XAA01 front load washer which has a widely recognized and well known design defect with the rear drum support. The material used to cast the rear drum support is dissimilar from the stainless steel tub of the washer, and its longevity in this particular style of front long washer is insufficient and subject to frequent premature failure. The failure resulted in the plastic washer tub and front seal melting and burning and posed a significant fire safety risk. If I had not been home while the washer was running, I fear that the defect would have resulted in a fire in my home. I filed my complaint with Samsung via telephone in Aug 2014 and requested that they repair the unit but my claim was denied because the product was slightly out of warranty. I purchased the required part for $90.07 and invested 6 hours of personal labor to perform the repair.
I continued to request assistance from Samsung, specifically requesting reimbursement for the cost of the part and labor to repair it. Samsung did provide reimbursement in the amount of $90.07 for the defective part but has been non-responsive to my requests for reimbursement for 6 hours of labor. I feel they should recall all their front load washers in this series, perform repairs with modified parts of sufficient strength and durability, and extend warranties for those that have experienced this issue. My attempts to resolve this with Samsung have been futile - they are a gigantic company who contracts out customer service to third party contractors who have little to no reach within the corporate Samsung structure. I have tried my hardest to get someone at Samsung to listen but it is impossible. The products they make look nice but they do not last and Samsung customer service is non-existent.

Top Load Model WF328 AAW/XAA - Stainless Tub Flange motor mount. Stainless Tub Flange motor mount disintegrated over time causing drum to spin out of balance and cause blockage to water pump. Two months ago the drain pump stopped working. I am mechanical so I removed pump and found the weirdest material blocking the pump. I could not imagine what it is or was. Today, during the spin cycle something loud clunked in the machine. Again pump stopped draining. Before I removed the pump this time I noticed water inside the machine. After looking around the plastic housing that holds the water for the stainless tub, I found two holes that blew outward, meaning something punctured the drums from the inside out. I removed the plastic tub to find that the Stainless Tub Flange mount had disintegrated, large pieces broke off sending it around the tub and punctured the plastic wall.
I conclude and believe that the material used is deteriorating over time due to electrolysis and this is only exacerbated by the heating element just below the flange. After reading the reviews on this site and other sites I deemed it useless to talk with Samsung. I believe I will report to our states attorney general to push for a recall. I will keep all my parts for show and demonstration. Warranties should cover defective material and parts, not just something under normal wear and tear. No more Samsung products for me.

We purchased a Samsung washer and dryer less than 2 years ago. The washer has the outer drum replaced, a new transmission and 2 new motors. Now the dryer drum is cracked. Samsung told us they weren't aware of any problems with their dryers and ours was out of warranty. We had decided to give up and replace them with a better brand when we happened to look at "Samsung Home Appliances USA" on Facebook. It appeared that Samsung answered every complaint and did so quickly. We posted our complaint and got an almost immediate reply. In a couple of days we got a call from the local repair company to come out and replace the dryer drum at no cost. Samsung is not good quality and their customer service is a joke.

I purchased my washing machine in May of 2011 and recently it starting shaking violently during spin cycle. I called Samsung who sent out a technician from a local appliance company; although he was very nice, he misdiagnosed the issue as simply being a bad shock absorber. I agreed to have all (4) replaced as a precaution. A week later (of course on a Friday night) he returns & replaces the shock absorbers. Unfortunately the shaking had INCREASED. The technician checks another area and informs me he was wrong and it must be the bearings are bad; he proceeds to tell me it's very expensive and I should call Samsung to see if they could offer a discount otherwise I would have to buy a new washer.
That night I called Samsung (not for shopping purposes) and spoke with a very friendly customer service rep - tells me the bearings are not under the 1 year warranty anymore and he could do nothing but transfer me to a supervisor. Another extremely professional and friendly supervisor informs me that the bearings are no longer under warranty and I need to call the appliance company back and have them come out and provide me a quote to replace the bearings. I explained the tech told me to call Samsung to inquire about a discount due to the heavy expense; after 30 minutes on the phone the rep stated she would contact the appliance company and call me back on Monday; today it's been 8 days and no call. Yesterday I received an email. They CLOSED my ticket!!
Coincidentally, 4 days ago my SAMSUNG microwave (5) years old completely quit working as well. Although they have exceedingly friendly reps their level of actual service appears to need vast improvement, not to mention, better QUALITY products. Needless to say, while I am shopping for a new washer and microwave I will not be considering SAMSUNG.

Similar experience to other customers that had purchased the Samsung top load model #WA422PRHDWR/AA. Started logging all the problems and I ran out of paper! As per other comments, a 35-minute cycle took 2 hours to complete. Tried every cycle and the same thing kept happening -- the washer started dancing around and time kept getting added on. When it was on the spin cycle, it would start adding water again. I started my laundry yesterday morning at 9AM and was not done until 8PM. The last load I gave up entirely on -- threw it into the dryer for 2+ hours. This machine is only one and a half years old. There should be a recall on this model. Oh by the way, the dryer had issues as well but was under warranty. The drum had to be replaced after just one month. Too bad for you Samsung. Replacing my kitchen appliances and trust me they will not be from your made in China product!!!! Absolutely disgusted. They won't even acknowledge that there have been issues.

In the Fall of 2012 we purchased a Samsung VRT Steam GSF front loader washer and also a front load Samsung dryer. Now, less than two years later, the washer no longer works. The controller board needs to be replaced at a $190 expense. Samsung does not cover the board -- only the "direct drive" motor. Don't be fooled by the 10-year warranty sticker on the front of this unit.
When we contacted Samsung, they said it was out of warranty (the board) but would be happy to sell us a $300+ service contract. Nice. In summary, STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG! They do not stand behind this product. Why would I think they would stand behind any of their products. So, no more Samsung products for me -- and I certainly will not buy a Samsung smartphone. I would like the address of the Samsung Home Appliance Group CBD. Apparently they are unaware of a defective item that exists in their Washing Machines. I am stating this since I have bought 2 washing machines in the last 2 years, both becoming unusable for the same issue which was the unbalancing during the spin cycle causing the machine to shut down. Both occurring a year outside or the warranty period. On the first machine when I called Samsung and scheduled a repair tech, it cost a considerable amount of money of which when he appeared he diagnosed the problem in 2 min. stating it was unrepairable. He then went on to say that a $100 credit would be given on the purchase of a new machine. I had to purchase the new machine because I was stacking an existing Samsung dryer on top.
I then proceeded to tear apart the old washer to find out what truly was the problem. What I found was a defective flange Shaft which had collected soap residue and became weakened and broke, causing the unbalance to occur. At that point I contacted Samsung informing them of this issue. I thought at that point Samsung would surely correct that problem on future machines. I bought the second machine and sure enough 25 months later, the same problem existed causing the machine to be unbalanced during the spin cycle making it unusable. Again I contacted Samsung regarding this issue KNOWING what the problem was, I did not purchase the extended warranty because of cost as well as I felt the machine would last longer than 24 months. Samsung's final offer was they would cover parts but NOT labor. Big deal. This fix takes a few hours to complete, then its a huge cost to me again.
When I began researching this issue on YOUTUBE, sure enough I found a video of a man who had the same problem and videoed his breakdown of the machine and the defective flange shaft. The reason I want the address of CBD is I'm going to again tear apart the recent defective machine and collect the defective part which I would like to send to Samsung because it's quite evident they are unaware of this obvious problem. Perhaps future consumers will benefit from the correction; if this issue is not resolved then it will surely be a good description of how Samsung is more interested in selling defective products to make those big dollars. No need to worry about me, I have now switched to Whirlpool Products and will not ever buy a Samsung Home appliance. It's quite evident what their focus truly is. Attached are pictures of the defective part. Is there any wonder the tub was out of balance?

I have two issues with Samsung. First we bought the front load washer and dryer. After a few months, the washer started to smell moldy and musty. All of our clothes smelled so horrible. I contacted Samsung and told them about the problem. We even purchased the three year extended warranty. We already had a service man out to look at the washer. His conclusion was that the bin in the washer holds water therefore after a while collects and makes all your clothes smell moldy. After explaining this extensively to Samsung, their only recommendation was to leave the door ajar when not in use. I explained to them I was not comfortable doing this since I have a cat, and a small grandchild that comes to visit. What would happen if I left the door open and horribly the cat or my grandchild climb into the bin and shut the door. I cannot believe this is the remedy that Samsung has given us as they have closed the case.
We have spent a lot of money on these appliances and all Samsung can do is tell us that we have to leave the door open when not in use. I even asked them if that was documented in the manual that you had to leave the washer door open when not in use. They wouldn't give me an answer on that because of course it isn't. I have tried everything to correct the problem. I have left the door open against my better judgment, used the freshening tablets, I have run the cycle with bleach, and then the sanitation cycle that takes almost 2 hours or more to complete. All of our clothes still smell badly. It's an embarrassment to me to have to go out into the business world everyday with our clothes smelling musty and moldy. Samsung has turned a deaf ear. The sad thing is they know it's a problem.
Then we bought their four door stainless steel refrigerator. This was before we knew the washer and dryer problems. When the ice falls from the ice maker into the bin it honestly sounds like a machine gun going off. The first time it happened I literally hit the floor. Once again I contacted Samsung and the remedy was to come out and change it out with the same exact ice maker, with the same exact results. Anytime we have company I have to turn off the ice maker because people become so startled by the loud noise it makes when the ice drops. Once again Samsung has chosen to ignore the problem after many hours on the phone discussing the issue with them. I am so fed up with their appliances. I just feel it is necessary to tell the public that they do not back their products. We are not unreasonable people, and have worked long and hard to buy these appliances and have spent close to $3500 on. I am stunned by their lack of compassion, their lack of caring, and their lack of not standing behind the products that they make.

In 2011, purchased matching washer and dryer from major store. 2 years later the dryer broke. Spent TWO MONTHS dealing with Samsung and store. Ended up calling a different service repair company and they fixed it in the same day (had to pay for it myself). Fast forward to 2014. Washing machine starts making a terrible, horrible, scary loud noise during the spin cycle. Go look at the washing machine and it is literally smoking!!! Stop the machine, grabbed a fire extinguisher and had the wife go to the breaker panel. Samsung authorized repairman comes out to do diagnostics. He stops the process for fear of the machine doing something bad (noise and such). He also told me that the door lock mech. is broke and that it shouldn't run, period, and was surprised that it did. Estimated cost for repair is as much as the machine cost as the "bearing" has gone out. Have roughly 4,000 word document on this incident. Three words: DO NOT BUY!!!
For some of the reviewers asking what can be done, contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission (US Govt) and file a report on the problems with machine(s). They are the ones that can force companies to do a recall. If your machine has or does smoke, list that in your report. This is the only way we can get Samsung's attention. Also, if you go to the CPSC website, you will see recalls on Samsung Washing Machine (WF318 and 322 I believe). Never have I been so frustrated with something I have purchased. Like many reviewers, 2 person household, small loads a couple time a week, and more the 2K paid for the set. Wished we had looked at reviews first.

My Samsung Top load washer wa456drhdwr/aa is roughly 2 years old now. 6mo from purchase, washer emptied water contents into garage. After 3 weeks of waiting on repairman, he came out, diagnosed problem (inferior design - pump mounted to drum and broke when out of balance), and ordered parts. 3 weeks later part came in. Repair lasted 6 months. Washer was out of warranty. After 1.5 hours on phone with Samsung, they sent a conversion kit that moves pump mount to body of washer. This kit required a new wiring harness to accommodate new location of pump. This is admission of a design flaw. Three weeks and still no repairman or communications to come install new parts. I installed kit myself. The issue was fixed.
Currently the washer has started getting out of balance and slamming tub into the sides of body of washer. This occurs for about 10-15 seconds and washer shuts down and gives a dc code. This means out of balance. I checked leveling and redistributed load, same issue. No matter what amount of clothes, washer will not do its job. Samsung wants to send another repairman out. I cannot spend anymore money on this junk. I could have replaced the washer in what i have spent at Laundromat.
I have the tub disassembled and nothing looks out of order. Support springs and hangers look okay. Next step is target practice. We bought a Samsung Front Loading Washer and the base in September 2011 for almost $1500. Today we had the repair man out because it was making loud clunking sounds. He looked at everything and said that it will cost about $1000 to fix it! He said the washer for that year had a soap dispenser that was showing that too much of the HE soap was being put it for each load. He said that Samsung knew about this because they changed the dispenser the next model year. He said that HE laundry soap gets stuck in the pump when too much is used and corrodes all of the parts in the system. Because the parts are so corroded, the washer starts banging, which causes the tub to warp.
So, I called and tried to talk to Samsung today. They said that they don't have any information about the dispenser problem. Really, then why did they fix the dispenser the next year? I was transferred to a total of 4 different people and was on hold for over an hour. Samsung does not care about the products that they sell! I can't believe that for as expensive as this washer is, it is only designed to last 3 years. If I pay for the repairs, how long will the washer last again? I think I would be much better off just getting a washer and dryer for the $1000, any brand will do, and put these out by the curb with a big "Free" sign on them!

We have had this Model # - WA422PRHDWR/AA washer for 2 years and recently the drain pump broke and flooded our house. We found out it was the drain pump after looking under the washer. The picture is of the drain pump which is put right under the tub that spins. No wonder after regular use it will wear down and break off! So after talking to Samsung they want to wait a week and then have someone call us to set up for someone to look at it to MAKE SURE that it is the drain pump. They want to make sure people get so tired of waiting that they fix it themselves.
I don't have time to wait for their bull. They want to only fix the issue, but not the real problem. There are drain pump kits that move the drain pump to a place on the frame of the washer where it won't break down over time. But Samsung doesn't want to redesign their poorly design product - they just want to replace the drain pump. That would just mean that it would break down again, causing multiple repairs. Sounds insane to me.
I thought Samsung was a great company, but if they cannot listen to their consumers then why should anyone purchase their products. I told one of the customer service reps (who had horrible grammar and English) that there are hundreds of complaints from this issue and they said that there are no reports of this issue in their system. My less than 2 year old washing machine model number WA422PRHDWR/AA that they had already come out and fixed when the drum fell inside the machine, now has a broken pump assembly and rust around the bleach tray and lid hinges. They obviously won't do anything about the rust so I focused on getting it working again. I read their service bulletin, verified the problem, and did my own search for the part with no luck.
The first hour of my phone call to them (yes one full hour) was spent being placed on hold more times than I can count and being bounced between departments and transferred over a dozen times. Finally I reached their executive resolution department (think that's what they called it) and the quality service continued. I explained my issue to them, told them I knew the warranty was up and just wanted some help finding the part I need. The lady argued with me stating that if a certified tech didn't come out to look at it then there is no way of knowing what's wrong with it and therefore no way to verify parts needed. This is after we discussed the Samsung service bulletin specifically for this problem - BULLETIN NUMBER: ASC20130222001. BULLETIN DATE: 6/6/2013 MODELS: WA400, WA422, WA456. Problems like leaking, rusting on the top metal section, 2 pumps failing, waterline hose rubber disintegrating to the point of leaking all over my laundry room, shocks replaced twice due to loud noises during spin cycle...etc.
The topper is what happened on Saturday, September 13th, 2014. Washer was spinning and then we heard a loud noise... the drum completely ripped itself away from the unit housing causing all sorts of parts, including the top ring to be thrown all over the room and into the hallway. I'm getting nowhere with answers or getting this so called "warranty" to be honored and my new washing machine fixed. Now I have a useless washing machine filled with water and completely not working, no idea when I'll even have a person call me back to give me the slightest idea of when it can be fixed, laundry piling up, and our family of 5 running out of clean clothes. We were GIVEN a Samsung WA456 Top Load Washing Machine and found out really fast WHY it was GIVEN to us!!!! I thought "WOW this is a nice machine!" Boy was I wrong!!!! You have to babysit it constantly through the spin cycles. It keeps saying it is off balance and sometimes it may take once (not very often) and most times it takes 10-15 times to get the load balanced to where it will spin!!! I had a Maytag and it lasted a lot of years and I have only had this for a few weeks and I am going to most definitely trash it. I would NOT give it to anyone I know because I value my friends more than that! A word to the wise... SAY NO IF IT SAYS SAMSUNG ON IT!!!

Washer model 422 - I bought the washer/dryer pair 2 years ago. Dryer is great; however the washer has been a disaster for 3 months now. The drain pump housing broke right off, flooding my basement - luckily we were home and caught it quickly. You have to buy a whole new assembly, wiring, etc, and then the holes don't line up and the hoses don't reach! I figure I ordered the wrong part, so I called up customer service. Samsung claimed I had the right parts and needed a professional to install it, so I get one and he says the same thing! He says the correct part is discontinued - I read the same in another post. On Friday, September 5, 2014, Home Depot delivered a Samsung front loader washer and dryer. The first time I looked at the dryer it had a dent in the front side of the dryer. Calling their customer service resulted in a monetary reduction in price since I paid for a new, not a scratch and dent appliance. Secondly I am in poor health (78 yrs. of age) and I did not want the job of leveling another appliance which the delivery team failed to do. This was the agreement that they would level both appliances which didn't happen. Then the wife ran 3 loads of light laundry over the next three days with no problem. The fourth load consisting of bed sheets (3) the washer would not fill with water, and worst of all locked up so we could not empty the load. It is still in there.
Calling customer service (California) we were connected with a female who spoke with a heavy Spanish accent at a speed that made it almost impossible to understand. After approx. an hour I asked why we cannot get a repairman to fix a washer we have had less than a week and can’t be unlocked to retrieve the load inside. She said we needed to copy or fax all our paperwork to them to review. Well, not having a fax machine I took all the paper work back to Home Depot and they faxed it in on Tuesday, Sept. 9. On Wed. the 10th I get a call from Samsung of California telling me about my problem (as if I didn't know) and even reading off my model number.
For some unknown reason he asked me for my telephone number (how did he contact me in the first place) and then asked for the paperwork so they could start the processing. Hey, you should have had that already since it was sent in over 24 hours ago. Am I going to get this machine repaired or not? After saying they would look into it the following day and I didn't want more delays over paperwork, he said he was going to connect me with a supervisor but instead I got a dial tone. End of conversation.
I called Home Depot right after that and was put on hold for 15 minutes then the appliance dept. answered and said they would call back in 5 minutes. Two hours later still no call. I am in need of a repair to a brand new washer and so far absolutely nothing has been arranged. How does this make me feel? Fix it now or come out and get your broken machine out of my house and give me my purchase price back. I will never buy another Samsung product again just because of their very poor customer service. If you venture to buy their products, hope they never stop working.

Machine is also showing rust coming out thru the edges and paint discoloration. First service company from Home Depot charged me $120 just to look at machine and tell me motor is gone. Samsung comes out to replace motor, ends up also replacing motherboard, and leaves. When I come home and use machine it still doesn't working. We replaced the lid switch lock and it still would not make it through a cycle. The 3 E error code called for a bad Hall effect sensor but to get that you have to order the entire motor for $168.00. That didn't fix it. Another techline call and they said it's a bad motherboard and oh by the way check the wiring harness and that's bad too!!! This washer is only 18 months old, but of course off warranty. I would find my clothes sitting in water while the washer beeped. I would restart and usually it would complete the load. It happened on some cycles more than others. Eventually, it began to happen on EVERY SINGLE CYCLE. Even the pure cycle can't complete without the 3E error code. This error code is due to motor failing. This machine says it has a 10-year parts warranty on the motor. Contacted Samsung and they indicated neither labor or parts are covered. Explain exactly, what is the 10-year motor warranty for? I'm gonna have to call out a technician to work on a machine that cost me $800 and it will likely cost me 1/3 of that to fix it.
Overall, this machine really sucks. Clothes come out looking dirty, especially whites.. and it spins them so violently everything gets stretched and impossibly tangled. Also, the cycle minimum time for a normal load is supposed to be 52 minutes (my old washer was 30 minute cycles). The dryer works great but the washer has never worked properly; my white clothes turn grey because it doesn't clean the clothes, only spins the water out about 50 % of the time requiring many extra. I received my water bill and it had doubled and I was trying to figure out why. This has been going on for over a month unbeknownst to me. The machine is in the garage and I simply check the time the load takes and go back out to put it in the dryer. I noticed I would go out and it would say 35 minutes. 35 minutes later I went out and time left on machine said 60 minutes. So I sat out there and watched and waited thereby enabling me to realize something is amiss.
Called for service and was told A&E would be out a week later. They arrived and diagnosed it has a bad control board/panel. The part was shipped to my home and a week later another tech from A&E arrived to install the new board. Upon arriving he said he didn't think it was the board given the symptoms - out of balance. So he installs new board and we wait for it to fill up and same thing happens. Tech thinks the drum is bent. So he ordered a new drum assembly which is being delivered this week. Next week someone will come out and install the new drum. At this point I am not holding out much hope. I have been hand wringing my clothing for a month and unable to wash larger items like blankets, curtains, etc. Not possible to wring them out.
I did my research and this machine was highly rated. About 2.5 years ago, I purchased a Samsung dryer (model # DV350AEW/XAA). Recently, it began making a noise which sounded like sneakers knocking around inside of it. I assure you, we don't wash and dry our sneakers! We discovered, when clothing got snagged, that the dryer drum had come apart at the welding and had a large crack. After some internet research, I found that this is most certainly not an issue related to normal use or ordinary wear and tear. It is a defect, complained of by hundreds of Samsung customers (regarding multiple different dryer models). Samsung has refused to repair my dryer without me incurring either the expense of the labor or the parts, and my portion of the charges would be almost as much as just buying a new dryer.
I would strongly encourage all of you to avoid purchasing any products from Samsung. They will sell you appliances and electronics which are of poor quality, are defectively manufactured, and which will cost you FAR more than you should spend on something that will need to be discarded after a couple of years of completely ordinary use. After several weeks of stringing you along, they will make it clear to you - the customer - that your satisfaction is unimportant to them, and that they have no intention of standing behind their products or their brand. They will also (rudely) make sure that you feel as though you are a waste of their precious time and energy, and they will flatly tell you that they don't mind losing customers and garnering negative publicity based on their poor customer relations and failure to recall a product which is clearly defective.

Furthermore, the machine seems to go into an infinite loop during this spin cycle. What should only take 35 minutes to wash on 'quick wash' takes an hour and a half to complete. After spinning the clothes, it then pours water back into the washer and starts the rinse-spin cycle all over again. Incidentally, I have never set the washer to the "extra rinse cycle". After having enough of wringing the clothes by hand, I contacted a repair technician. The technician said he didn't know what the problem was and began to look it up online. Twenty minutes later, the technician said he would need to contact a Samsung Technician and would get back to me in a couple of days. He politely ask me to pay my deductible and left.
After reading other reports about how difficult it is to get in touch with Samsung staff, I am apprehensive about this repair guy getting through them and returning in a couple of days as promised. Prior to purchasing my washer, I checked the reviews and found them to be very positive. Apparently, I was looking in the wrong place.

I purchased a Samsung washer two years ago. I have been happy with it up until 1 week ago when it flooded up my whole garage. I tried to call some appliance repairmen and was told "We don't work on Samsungs." I finally found a repairman. He told me it was the drain motor pump assembly and he showed it to me. I couldn't believe that the plastic was all broken off into little pieces. And it was cracked off from the drum. He told me it would be $350.00 to fix it. It was too much to pay to fix and it didn't seem right for the parts to be so cracked up since this is relatively new and supposed to be a good quality machine. I just paid the $30 for him to give the estimate.
I then saw when I googled all the other similar complaints on the internet and now realize this is not an isolated problem! Tomorrow I will call the company and ask what they can do, since I now understand that some of their models must be made with defective materials and are assembled in a way that breaks down. This is very disconcerting to me as I spent a lot of money to buy what I thought was a good product. In addition I take care of my elderly mother and a grown handicapped daughter and being without a washing machine while we figure this out is a hardship.

I purchased a Samsung Washer less than two years ago. Last week, the water pump broke. The laundry room is on my main floor. However, the machine released so much water that it flooded my basement. I had to remove a couple of area rug, had to throw away boxes of items damaged, and have had a dehumidifier running in my basement to dry out the space. I have been amazed at the number of complaints that I have found online of people experiencing similar problems and additional problems once repaired. The SEARS repair person came in today and indicated that Samsung has created a repair kit as this is a common problem with these washers. I am really surprised that they have not recalled these machines.

After Superstorm Sandy, we purchased a new Samsung Washer & Dryer. After 18 months, the pump on the Washer - model# WA422PRHDWR - broke away from the machine assembly. Luckily, someone was home to minimize the flooding of our laundry room. The next day, we contacted Samsung Customer Service, a misnomer, & we were told that since it was "out of warranty", we could have it repaired with the purchase of an extended warranty for approximately 1/2 the original price of the machine! They stand behind their product, right!!!
Being handy, I then looked into getting the replacement part myself. That was when we discovered that this pump is an apparent design flaw that Samsung changed with NO REGARD to the consumers already in possession of the machine - NO RECALL, NO NOTICE, NO PARTS AVAILABLE! NO Customer Service! Since this machine was not repairable in a timely manner & after reading similar complaints, we purchased a new machine - NOT Samsung! Their motto should be Caveat Emptor - buyer beware!

Since purchasing this machine over two years ago, there has been a progressively inverse correlation between the stench and cleanliness of the clothes. In other words, the clothes get less and less clean and the odor from the machine gets worse and worse. YES, I do all the proper maintenance according to the manual and then some: weekly Tide machine cleanser, emptying of the reservoir, bleaching of the drum and rubber seals. And this was sold to me by LOWE'S as the "absolute top of the line washing machine with a price to match?" PLEASE! Now, how can things get worse?
For the past six weeks, I have been in communication with Samsung's customer "service." Their customer service corresponds to their equipment: Junk! It became clear that any customer service person (if you're ever lucky enough to get through to one) is focused only on checking off your complaint or dissatisfaction on a computer screen, not solving the problem. Be that as it may, penetrating a hardened nuclear site would be far easier than getting through to a manager - ANY manager. Let's just say it's an impossibility. So the bottom line? I now find an easier solution is to simply bite the bullet, throw this Samsung junk out, and go buy a Maytag, GE, ANYTHING but a Samsung. As a friend of mine questioned, why would you buy a Samsung washer - you buy a Samsung phone or TV, NOT A WASHER! No truer words were ever spoken.

The repairman said the bracket supporting the discharge pump was cracked. He looked at some feedback online and read that Samsung had recognized it as a design flaw and was covering it under warranty and sending a replacement pump housing. He suggested I call Samsung, get the part and he would install. I called Samsung and was told that the part is no longer warrantied because it is over a year old. My repair person said if he gets the part and installs it, I will pay close to $300 for the repair. I am a single parent. The washing machine is just over a year old. The company wanted to have it break 3 times & send a technician out before they would replace it. However I was determined enough to not allow this & they agreed to replace it after the 2 times it broke. I received my replacement washer (same model) on 01/14/13. We have registered complaint and after so many repeated follow-ups, they finally turned up and took the machine for repair and delivered the same, saying the complaint was with the drum and they have replaced it and charged me approximately 4500/- rupees. Then I found the complaint still exists while checking in presence of the delivery mechanics. I noted down the same in their bill and registered the complaint again. They said they don't charge anything as the complaint is within 1 month of servicing. The problem is with the alignment of the drum which was not properly installed.
After repeated follow-ups and complaints there was no response. Finally I called the owner of the Trivandrum service center. Then I understood that the response of the staff was even better. He is such an irresponsible and arrogant person. I know that it was a waste of my time and energy calling him. I am sure that similar complaints will be reported to Samsung company and they the least bothered. Finally I registered my complaint with the company directly in Mumbai (not sure through website toll free no.) and a managerial level person called and took the details and told me that everything will be sorted out soon.
Now, it is almost 3 years. My complaint is still unattended and unanswered even after repeated call to the company directly. There is no one responsible in Samsung. My TV, fridge, washing machine etc., is Samsung. The greatest mistake I've ever done in my life. Please beware before purchase. I'll never recommend any Samsung products to anyone. The sound of my double door Samsung fridge is similar to that of a helicopter. I've reported that to QRS on the first week of my purchase itself. They said it is because of my tiled floor. I was told the problem is "very common" by the tech. By June 2014, the "dc" error code appears whenever washer spins. Also, washer goes into a rinse cycle at will. I contacted Samsung. Once again, authorized techs contacted me. Once again, "defective design" issues were raised by the tech. Once again, I was told the problem is "common."
The diagnosis: need a new packing pump (whatever that is), a new tub and a new motherboard (under warranty). Cost for repairs in excess of 400. I paid 650 for this junk. I complained to Samsung and was told the Executive Customer Relations would contact me within 2 business days. Well, 4 business days have lapsed and still no call. Why? I called Sears Service who said it wasn't under warranty and so I'm paying for a Sears service person to come next week and look at the problem. But after looking at the online reviews, I see that this is a reoccurring problem and Samsung is negligent in its manufacturing process if the inside of this many machines are rusting. This thing has been trouble since day 1.

This is an expensive piece of junk! #1. I can't believe that this machine is rusting from the inside out. #2. Around the bleach port, the paint on the machine began to turn cruddy orange. This was because the machine was rusting from the inside out. The paint began to blister and now the rust is like a disease that is taking over the outside of the machine. #3 Only after owning the machine within 6 months of it being new, the pump quit and incurred a charge of $250 to repair the pump because the repairman said the filter was inadequate. The machine used to sing songs "a cute tune" when in operation but that too recently stopped. You have to fool the washer when loading clothes by adding water from the tap manually because it fails to properly to cover the clothes therefore never properly washing anything.

Refrigerator compressor failed after 5 years and we were told no warranty because it was a component not a part. Warranty covers parts not components. Our Samsung dryer ceased to work in early April, 2014. We had a service call from Sears set for April 28 - the earliest available - but nothing could be done as parts were needed. The next appt was scheduled for May 12 but the serviceman did not show or phone to say he wouldn't be here. When I called Sears to find out what had happened, they said the parts were still not available and made another appt for a service call for June 3. I received a call just before noon on that date (the service call was supposed to be between 8am and noon) and the caller said they were calling from Ontario, having been asked by Sears to do so, to tell me that there would be no service call that day as they still had no parts. If it were not for the fact that we have another year to go on an extended warranty, we would have called in a local repairman but can't afford what the parts and labour are going to cost if we do!

Samsung top load washing machine - The washer started rusting around the bleach port. The repairman said it was my fault that bleach had splashed around the opening and on the metal. That would be impossible to have that much bleach in that area and not hit the wall next to the machine. Of course, this isn't covered under the warranty and is now rusting through to the drum. It doesn't matter what I put in this piece of junk machine, the DC light comes on... (off balance). Once this happens and I try to reposition the load, the cycle starts all over again! It took 4 cycles to try and wash 5 towels the other day. You cannot just rinse something and spin it dry.... you have to do the complete cycle which at this point isn't working. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!! The dryer is another story with a mind of its own. The only way to dry anything is to fry it! DON'T BUY THE DRYER EITHER AND DON'T BUY EITHER FROM SEARS.

Purchased the Samsung top load washer and dryer at HHGregg back in November 2012. I have since had 3 service calls (claims) under the manufacturer's warranty, and at least 2 more under the extended warranty I purchased (thank goodness)! It started with a clamp that broke which threw it off balance, the next call - wouldn't spin out, the next call - temperature sensor error code (wouldn't let me continue with the wash), next call - another off-balance issue, only this time they thought it was the mother board! All of these calls were made before the machine was a year old!!!
The last two calls made on this machine had to do with the temperature sensor....I am FED UP. The machine is only a year and a half old. Parts for this machine were sent directly to our home, so I've seen how much money has been involved with this machine. I paid over $700 back in November of 2012, since then Samsung and Warrantech has thrown at least another $1200 in parts and labor. I still have another 3 and a half years to go on the warranty I purchased, and I am estimating that the machine has been out of use approximately 4 months total since I had it delivered. I've made multiple threats to Samsung and Warrantech. This time, I'm seeking an attorney! DON'T EVER BUY A SAMSUNG WASHER!

Within months of purchasing, my husband suffered a severe major stroke which left him paralyzed on left side. Few weeks ago (May 2014), the Dryer started making the most deafening sounds I have ever heard emanate from a Dryer. It was as if a dead body was rolling in the dryer. So noisy. We are afraid the machine might catch fire and an explosion might happen in the house. In desperation I called Samsung Customer Service. I was told a Product Specialist would call within 48 hours. Bought a Samsung top load washer from Lowe's in Oct 2012. Never spins without DC code and then has to go through complete rinse cycle each time. Not much energy savings there. Noticed that the top of the washer under the bleach cup and the detergent tray were rusting out. I have chunks of rusted metal in my detergent cup and now rust spots on my clothes. I called Samsung cust. service. They said I was using the washer excessively. I asked them what constituted "excessive" as it does not mention this in the owner's manual. They also said I need to leave the lid up all the time to dissipate the humidity. I told them again there is not instruction on this in the manual.
I explained that this is a washing machine that uses water and not air. They told me that my rust problem is because it is getting salt mist from the ocean and I live in a high humidity area. I live in the Arizona desert with average annual humidity of 7-15% and last time I looked I did not have an ocean. They suggested that I geographically move my washer to a different location (less humid). I extraneously explained that it is in my LAUNDRY room (geographically speaking) and my last Frigidaire washer sat in exactly the same spot for 20 years without a single rust spot.
I have called them and been on the live chat to them over 6 times now and it gets worse and more insulting as I go. 10 minutes ago, my wife called to inform me that the washer started smoking and quit. I am getting a lawyer. This is hands down the most ignorant and insulting travesty of customer service I have EVER had the misfortune of being involved in. DO NOT buy Samsung!!! I purchased my Samsung steam washer and steam dryer online from a online seller. I paid close to full price. Got it home and set it up and ran a test load. I was in love. Was the coolest washer I ever bought. Then the second load I heard a loud pop noise in the back. I thought it was a belt so I had opened the back up to see what happened. I then realized it was a non belt design and that something else popped. I called Samsung and they said that they would come out and repair it. I live near Sacramento, I was thinking no big deal. After 2 weeks of calling Samsung they finally said there are no techs to fix my product in my area. They stated they are going to replace my product. Then they changed their mind because I bought it third party. So it wasn't covered under warranty. I then did some research to figure out how to get this fixed only to find out parts are not available for my product. Like anywhere.
So I'm out almost 1500 dollars and I have a beautiful washer that doesn't work. Even their company don't sell the parts needed to fix this unit. The repair bill is estimated at 500 dollars if the tech can even get the part. I don't know what to do. I'm mad and I feel like driving down there and just beating some serious butt. The unit was in a factory sealed box. I'm going to call them tomorrow and fight this because there is no clause to support where I buy it. They're saying it cannot be covered under warranty even though the machine wasn't off the assembly line over a year. And the fact that there is no parts available just makes me quite upset. Never buying a Samsung again.

Samsung is sending out someone to repair it, and also, my model did not have the '01' on the end which the service bulletin said is required to relocate the pump, but our technician said he has done this repair many times and is able to relocate it.

Samsung sent a repairman named Chris ** who was very knowledgeable and confident about model WA456DRHDWR. On the second visit, he brought a plethora of parts but found that only the motherboard needed to be replaced. He whizzed through all of the diagnostics and revved the spin up to 900 rpm's, tested cold, warm and hot water intake functions, normal and pre-spin agitation and draining agility. I was dirty and sweaty after spring yardwork but he tutored me on the diagnostics and coding of each function to ensure I was satisfied.
After he left, I did a heavy load of bath towels on a normal setting without a pre-wash cycle like I would normally do. The washer now has a pleasant vigorous agitation and the laundry swims in rivers of water like I have always wanted. The bleach and fabric softener dispensers work perfectly now. If you live in the Louisville metro and Southern Indiana regions and have problems with your Samsung washer, I would urge you to demand repairman Humfleet to resolve the issue. I am officially satisfied with my Samsung washer.

This was when I realized the impeller was worn away badly. I called Lowe's and of course there's no warranty and they gave me the phone number for the parts ordering company.
And I called to see if I could order just the impeller and the answer was "No, you have to order the whole pump," which is nonsense. I ordered pump and now unit is working. We bought a new Samsung washer model # WA400PJHDWR/AA 16 mos. ago from Lowe’s. The drain pump motor bracket broke during spin cycle and the pump motor came off, pouring water all over the floor. I soon learned this is a known problem affecting 155,000 units. Apparently, Lowe's got an internal recall from Samsung to fix their in-store stock only. Units manufactured in mid-2012 are affected, but SAMSUNG has not issued a recall to consumers, and apparently, the part was modified starting in Oct. 2012. (Ours was manufactured in July 2012, purchased in Sept. from Lowe's). Many consumers are having this exact same problem, and are posting this on Lowe’s and on Amazon.com and this site. Worse, they are posting that the washers fail after the initial repair, failing a 2nd or 3rd time. So, this is clearly a "lemon" product.
I contacted Samsung and demanded that they cover the repair under warranty (Labor is not covered after one year), and they agreed, but after a week, we have yet to see a service tech. Others are reporting nightmare problems with this particular model, as well as other similar SAMSUNG washers. Some have had water damage to their homes when the pump bracket breaks and floods their home. SAMSUNG is ignoring a huge problem, that should make for a good class action suit, once the word gets out. In the meantime, those who do their research should BEWARE of buying Samsung home appliances. The price is high; the quality is low, and the service is dreadful. And, for the first time in 30 years, I am now having to take my clothes to the laundromat again.
I would welcome contact from a FL-based class action attorney. I believe there is plenty of evidence of SAMSUNG failing to issue a large recall on a defective and unsafe product, and leaving consumers to foot the bill. This would be possible bad faith, unjust enrichment, and a violation of Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (DUTPA), as well as other issues under the Uniform Commercial Code. Please feel free to contact me if you are a FL licensed attorney interested in this matter.

Like the sun also rises, the drain pump fell out of our Samsung WA422 washing machine, turning it into a piece of junk and a huge waste of money. If you look up LEMON in my dictionary you will find two definitions. The first is the yellow citrus fruit and the second is a picture of this washing machine. We bought ours a year and 4 months ago. We have kids, so it got nightly usage, sometimes twice in an evening. About a month ago we started to hear a really loud noise during the spin cycle. I mean really loud; clearly bothersome on our second floor, and the machine was in the basement. I checked online and learned the horror stories about this machine. I should have known that this clunking noise was the washer's death rattle.
Well, one night the noise was particularly loud, then it just stopped. I had been wary of this since I heard it, so I quickly headed downstairs. Sure enough, a trickle of water was leaking from the bottom of my machine. Luckily, the damaged happened at the end of the spin cycle, so there was very little water in the machine. And yes, if I hadn't been there or had not been listening, the machine would have proceeded to try to fill for the next cycle. Of course, it wouldn't fill, but instead pump all of the water on to my basement floor. I turned the machine on for a few seconds to check. It only stops pumping when the electrics eventually shut down (just imagine the mess, many people have posted online that they suffered $1000+ of water damage to flooring, carpets and drywall).
Now, you want to know the most galling part? Samsung knows about this, has known about it, and shows almost criminal neglect when it comes to helping consumers who have all paid in excess of $800+ for this worthless piece of junk. You see, on June 6, 2013 Samsung posted Service Bulletin ASC20130222001. (You can't find it online anymore, but I found a copied version on a plumbing site.) This document clearly describes the Assy pump cover damage problem. Repairmen are instructed to buy new parts and replace the pump (which with labor will certainly cost a minimum of $250).
Does this fix the problem? NO WAY! This is just a patch. You see, Samsung attached the pump cover to the washer drum! And on top of that, they made the entire part out of plastic. So what do you think happens to the part after, say, 350+ spin cycles (a year of use)? Well, the cheap plastic clamps break, the pump comes loose (which will be the rattling you hear) and finally the pump cover will crack and break and the pump falls out, taking the hosing with it. It is like they designed it to FAIL! The two knowledgeable appliance repairmen I consulted said they have never heard of a washer with the pump mounted on the tub. If you replace the parts, the damage will just happen again and again.
But, there is more... Here is the SMOKING GUN. Samsung later put out a modified version of the washer (suffix 01 at the end of the product code) and it had the very same problem. So, on September 5, 2013 they put out another Service Bulletin, ASC20130509001, instructing repairmen to replace the pump with an expensive kit that moves the pump off the tub to a mounting on the lower frame of the washer. Samsung knows exactly what is wrong with its washer. Now, the really unbelievably galling part, the pure rip off, is that you can only use this kit on washers made after December 29, 2012.
That is right, if you bought one of the original WA422 machines, you are out of luck and money. And Samsung is perfectly aware of this. And if this is your case, well, you will know that your one year warranty is expired, and there is NOTHING Samsung will do to help you. They sold me a LEMON, they know the machine is defective, and they will not lift a finger to help me. How do I know? I wasted 45 minutes of my life talking to the absolutely useless and unhelpful people at Samsung who did nothing for me and did not bother to call me back. Their customer service is the WORST, simply beyond terrible.
Our solution: I'm junking the whole machine, bought another brand, and have, with much seething, resigned myself to having wasted over $800+. When shopping for a new machine, I was stunned to see several stores still had this in their showroom. They all said the machine was discontinued and they were trying to unload it, but they have to know about its monumental design flaw. SHAME on them! Funny, but the last sad fact was that it didn't do a bad job washing clothes. One thing I discovered was that the "high efficiency" claim was a joke... It used just as much water as any older machine we had. So, the moral of my sorry tale: DO NOT EVER BUY SAMSUNG PRODUCTS. Consider yourself warned.

Drum cracked on DV210AGW/XAA dryer - This dryer was purchased in February 2012 from Sears. It's serial number JJVY5WBBB00631X. It started making a thumping noise at around 14 months. I thought my son was washing his sneakers. Then I realized it wasn't sneakers and a quick look didn't reveal any apparent issues and I kept running it and it seems to be okay although very loud.
One day, I noticed that a sock was stuck and I reached in and tried to pull it out, it wouldn't come out. So I leaned further inside and that is when I noticed there was a big crack in the drum. I called Samsung and it's out of warranty. I started looking on the internet and discovered this is a major issue with this dryer. Further research into this issue shows that Samsung will not repair and that it will cost me about 70.00 for the repairman to come out and $900.00 for a new drum. I DO NOT recommend buying any Samsung products.

We had not owned the washer even a year and the drain motor broke off, and water went everywhere. In less than 6 months, the drain motor stopped working, then it stopped spinning properly (it would spin, but not very fast). I would strongly advise anyone never to buy a Samsung washer. I have never had a washer with which I had so much trouble, especially after so short time!

Loved it for the first year... then the flaw showed itself. The machine would not spin, or drain. The serviceman first said the motherboard needed replacing, but after waiting almost two weeks for the part, that was not the problem. He said it was a loose wire. One week later the same problem, would not spin or drain, and the serviceman said it was another loose wire. My husband said there must be something else causing this, but he said he was experienced. A little less than a week later disaster hit! The bracket that holds the pump shattered, and the hoses came unclamped (all poorly, cheaply designed) and flooded our upstairs... dripped down to our living room and bathroom, and all the way down to the basement!
Now we have read over and over on the internet that this is a common problem. It has happened to so many people, and it is the identical problem. Samsung is very aware of the problem, as they have now changed the design of the new ones! They relocated where the bracket that holds the pump in the new machines! But where are we, who are left with the duds??? They will not recall them!!

Sound like Samsung has created a mixed bag of tricks. Had the housing break on a pump on ours and it flooded the laundry room. Called customer service and after three weeks I'm still going to the laundry mat. This is a machine under warranty. There is no urgency, everything is next week. If you make a commitment to purchase Samsung don't get your hopes up because whatever you read is a lot of smoke and mirrors. We have phones, tablets and TVs. Maybe they should stick with what works best. Screw Samsung and the horse it rode in on!

We purchased this washer approximately 6 weeks ago from a very reputable local dealer. We have been on vacation a week and a half of that and it hasn't worked for another week due to the fact that we were waiting on a part to be replaced - the mother board! You have to be kidding. There are only 2 people worth of clothing being run through it and it wasn't used for part of that time!!
The repairman replaced it yesterday and as I ran the first load, once again it stalled mid-cycle with a 3E icon flashing. Of course, now I am playing the waiting game AGAIN. After reading these complaints on this website, I am so sorry for the purchase and fear we will be shelling out another $1900 in the next year - but it will not be for a SAMSUNG. Their television isn't worth a darn, either. We had to replace it after 4 years. UGH!!! I will purchase Whirlpool next time.

I bought a WA422PRHDWR/AA top-load Samsung washer in September 2012. From early on, I noted the clothing came out soiled with white lint/stains than when it went in and there were large dry spots. Doing the same clothing 2 - 3 times didn't get the items any cleaner. Now it has started leaking. Too bad I didn't read all the bad reviews about the product before I bought it. According to Samsung, there are no similar complaints about this lousy product. They "don't check" 3rd party sites, however there is no way to lodge a complaint directly to the company. Poor customer service - buyer beware!!
