Safe Step did a very good job of installing our new step-in shower and I’m delighted with it. Everything, so far, has been difficult in the installation. We’re unique and we have the first floor of a condo. And the bathroom above us had a problem with the line for their heater and defroster that came right down under our tub. And the day before Thanksgiving, they found that they couldn’t proceed without us getting an electrician in here and getting Freon emptied out, and it was very complicated. We got that done. They had to come back a second time and do the complete installation, which they did. The doors from the get-go were delivered damaged, not to us, but to our local storeroom, and they had to wait for those doors. So, we had a temporary shower curtain put up. And so, the third time they came back, I was in the hospital, but my husband said they put in the doors.
At this point, all of that technical stuff is done. But the shower head is not powerful enough. We’ve asked our technician to find out whether there is another one that has the holes a little bit more spread out. So, we’re in like process. But I’m not complaining. The men were wonderful. They were training one new man. I couldn’t believe in my little bathroom I had four men. One guy was tearing out the little pieces of tub. They protected everything beautifully, and they were very professional. They were very disappointed that they couldn’t do it right away, and I know they would have if they had had no complications like we had. But everything was resolved. We have a non-skid flooring, and it’s perfect. I’m so confident. We’ve got the seat that goes up and down, and that’s wonderful. Everything is all set.
Now, my husband had put down $8,000 and it needed to be done in 2019, and they’re researching us now with the home office. Somebody screwed up and they put it in on 2020, and this is gonna mess us up as seniors for the deduction and the medical part of it because my surgery was done in 2019. So, the financial part of it is still unsettled. That was $8,000 out of our pocket. This is unacceptable. So, they were checking with the home office as to who messed up on this.

I had Safe Step put in a walk-in shower and everybody's in love with it. The Safe Step rep talked to me, and he showed me the demonstrations of the tub, how they would do it and how they would order it, but I told them no one here took baths. Everybody here took showers. And with my age, it is easier for me to just take a shower than to get in a tub because I have had two back surgeries. With the shower with two showerheads, I could have the second showerhead go and get on my back where I had the surgery because when it gets cold, I have a lot of pain in the lower part of my back. Also, being in the tub like a sauna bath, it takes some of the breath out of me.
The Safe Step salesperson was very professional, and after we looked at the family here thinking about the tub, he listened to what I wanted and then he went in the bathroom and looked. Then he said, "Really, we could do that." And the guy that installed it was with his wife, and they weren't here but a day. To them, it was a day. It was eight hours. To me, I worked 12 hours shifts, so that wasn't the whole day to me. They put mat cloths down where the fiberglass stuff wouldn't get on the floor, on the carpet, and then they cleaned up after themselves. They cleaned up the driveway, and they put everything in place. And then he told me it had to be at least 24 hours before we could use the shower so that everything would set up, and we did just as they asked.

I heard about Safe Step either through American Leisure or the VF magazine, and I got the shower instead of the walk-in tub because of my age. I had it placed where my tub was and the interaction with the installation team was great. The shower head comes out, goes up, goes over, and comes down with a flat head on it. I’m getting used to it, but it’s not like the ones I had before. I might go with another one if I knew that they had any other one.
Hi John, thank you for letting us know that you enjoy your tub! We're so happy to hear it, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-989-5101. Enjoy!

We agreed to a Safe Step walk in SHOWER from this company. As many salesman do, they promised high quality, quick install and misleading construction info. 10 weeks later they are finally finished. Floor pan is only high quality piece installed, and to their credit, seems very good design. The rest is very basic, Home Depot supplied material. Overall experience is very disappointing per the total cost we paid. My advice is to either do it yourself, or find a local contractor.

Safe Step seemed like a good shower so we went with them and it went pretty good with their sales rep. But they damaged the shower during installation. There was a towel rack on the side of the wall and when they were moving it in, they knocked this towel rack out of its mounting. They were supposed to call about setting out an appointment to get it reinstalled and I'm waiting for them to call me. It has been 10 days now and I haven't heard anybody call to reschedule.
Hi Don, I'm sorry to hear that we haven't gotten back to you. Please call our customer service department to follow up with that and they'll be able to assist with any other questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you!

I was gonna have a friend of mine put a shower in for me and he said he couldn't handle it. He saw Safe Step's advertisement, so I talked to them. The sales rep I dealt with was really good and he did everything he could for me. The guys who installed the product were awesome as well. They'd done everything they were supposed to and they laid pads down on my carpet. Then they vacuumed the floor and down the hallway after they got finished. It's been four weeks now and the product is awesome. I would highly recommend it.

We saw an ad in the paper for Safe Step Walk-in Tubs and I saw it on TV as well. A guy came here and told us about it. He explained it very good and showed us brochures. Then, we went on about the prices and we decided to get the shower. The installation team came in at 8:30 in the morning and they were done at 4:30. They were very good people and cleaned up. When they left, there was no mess. I like the wand, the shower and the seat. I’ve showered in it twice so far but I’m gonna be using it more. I also like the way you turn it on and off. I’m very satisfied with Safe Step.

I was having some issues with my mobility and I also have fibromyalgia. And I felt like getting a Safe Step would be something that would help me. I had very good interactions with the sales representative from Safe Step. Everyone I have talked with has been very knowledgeable and wonderful to deal with. The installation team was very professional and courteous. They asked me opinions on how I wanted things. They cleaned up after themselves and they did a marvelous job. I love the shower that I got from Safe Step. I get in and I don't wanna get out. It's easy to get in and I don't have the issues I was having with the original shower that I had. And it is really a wonderful thing. If you are looking towards safety and comfort, and you have mobility problems, Safe Step is definitely the way to go.

I had a new shower installed by Safe Step and they did the same thing in my mother’s. The whole process was very good. I told them I would have to wait a little bit because of what was going on, with my husband passing away, and they were very good about everything. I did my mother’s first and it was a lot of money, but it was well worth it. They were right there to help with every step of the way.
I have two bad knees and getting out of the old tub would get my foot caught. I fell a couple of times. It’s so much different with the Safe Step tub. There’s a nice, big chair I can sit on and it’s very comfortable. Also, I like that when I get in, I have the water coming down on me. Then, I can turn that off and put the handheld thing on. It holds the handheld shower and I do my hair with that. I feel very good about it.

I like Safe Step's sales pitch. They said that they would back up everything and it seemed to be a good deal. They were very polite and hardworking, and everything went really smoothly. The rep who came in was very friendly and was telling me all about the tub and the guarantees. I just got the shower and the installers were here from about 11 o’clock in the morning until about 6:30 that evening. Then they cleaned up after themselves. I like the rain shower head and the handheld shower. I also like the little seat back there where I can sit down if I get tired. I mostly got the shower for my handicapped cousin who comes to visit quite often. The shower is nice, and I’m enjoying it.

The Safe Step sales rep I worked with was very friendly. His name is Jeff and he explained everything well. The two installers who came were great. They got here around 9 o'clock and left around four o'clock. They did a good job. I have the shower and it's fantastic. I got problems with my back and legs, and I wanted the shower, so I got it.
While you couldn’t ask for a better shower, I had a couple of deals we had to get like the shower rod. But they didn’t have that when the installers came. I called the Tennessee office and somebody told me they were out of stock. Eventually, I got the shower rod and they then come out and put it up. Also, I didn't like the caulking that they did around the walls. They used old silicone which will not take paint. So, I called and Safe Step sent the same two guys back because they happen to be in the area. They put the other caulking and it works fine. Other than that, everything else went great. Safe Step did what I asked them to. I’d recommend them.

I was very, very satisfied with my experience with Safe Step. Their sales rep was good and I had pretty good interactions with their installation team. The installer had to come back the next day to put a bottom steel in, but that was the only problem I had. The walk-in shower makes me get a shower now a lot easier, and I like that it has plenty of things to grab a hold of. I've already shown my shower to several people I know that have handicap problems and they love it.

I’d seen Safe Step on TV and commercials before and I went with them based on their reputation and our lack of contractors in the area. The sales rep went over everything and was real helpful. The installers were here early. They said they were gonna be right here at 8:00, and they were here at 7:30, which is unheard of for us. There was a small issue with the glass not meeting in one spot, but it doesn’t cause a leak ‘cause there’s enough of a ledge around. They worked with what they had and did a good job. They were also very conscientious. I got a walk-in shower and I like the grab bar around the faucet and the dual heads. Being able to adjust the backing seems like a nice feature too.
Thanks for letting us know Patrick! We're so glad to hear that!

Getting our Safe Step walk-in shower is one of the best things we've done. My wife and I are both really happy with our shower. My wife couldn't do a tub anymore as her health is going down. She's having to use a wheelchair and couldn't get her legs over the tub. The Safe Step reps explained everything well. The installation took about eight hours since they had to take everything out and redo a lot. But it was done well and they didn't leave a mess. They did a super job.
Thanks for the review Ronald! Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

We got the walk-in shower from Safe Step and their sales rep was nice. He came, sat and talked to us and explained everything. And then he measured. We wanted a tub since my husband is a bit handicapped, but the rep said that he was sure that the tub would not fit in our bathroom. It wouldn’t go through the door. That was when we decided to get the shower instead. So, they took the bathtub out that was in there and put the handicap shower in. The installer was nice and did the job. He also cleaned up.
I like the shower, except that we had to put a curtain. I would rather have had a door. But they said that a door wouldn’t fit right. Other than that, the shower is fine with me. My husband still hasn’t used the shower. We got the handicap chair in, but he has a hard time getting through the house on a walker. So, it’s not very handy for him. Another thing was that the shower could be installed cheaper. Safe Step advertised that the shower head and the shower wand as coming free with the tub. That was what we got with our shower, but there was one grab bar. The bar is where the wand comes out, and they put two of those small shelves in there. And it seemed like that was an awful lot for a shower.

I was gonna have to do something to our shower. This house was built in the '70s with the plumbing. It was gonna have to be redone and I really wanted a tub. But my wife had a stroke about 11 years ago and the more I got to thinking about the tub, I figured she wouldn't be able to get in it. Our bathroom's really small so she really wouldn't be able to get in and sit down. I had seen Safe Step talking about the shower and I had heard the shower would be better with a fold-down seat. But we got the wrong fold-down seat. It has a curved hole in the middle of it. My wife has only got use of her right side so she's got to sit on the seat, grab the bar and try to scoot across. But her leg was getting caught in the hole. She couldn't scoot all the way across.
I didn't think Safe Step would do anything because I had signed the papers for that seat. But they work with you. It was real good dealing with them. They're coming in and putting a new seat in, a solid one. Other than that, I like the whole setup. I'm using it too. I'm pushing 70 years old and I was having a hard time getting my foot over the top to the bathtub. Now, all I gotta do is walk in the shower. My brother-in-law and my sister-in-law came over and looked at it. They got a sunken tub years ago and my brother-in-law said he wished they would've gotten this. I really liked the installers too. They were real nice and knowledgeable. They've done their job and they didn't stop from start to finish.
Hi James, thank you so much for your message!

My husband talked to somebody at the Safe Step headquarters in Texas and went with them based on what the salesman said to us. The installation worked out well and they were very professional. We've had the walk-in shower for three months and I love it. I like the fact that I don’t have to try to raise my leg up eight inches to step into the tub. It had a two and a half inch threshold and I could just step into the shower.

The Safe Step Walk-in Tubs sales rep was very nice. I told him that I didn't want a tub and I wanted a shower so he made arrangements for me to get a shower. He was very knowledgeable. The installers were very quiet. They came in, did their work, cleaned up and then left. They came back the next day to finish up and that was it. They did a good job. I like the chair that's in the shower. And the hands, it sprays the shower water when you hold it in your hand. I like that feature because after I shower and soap up, I'm able to get all excess soap off my body easily. It's faster because I'm not hopping in and out of a tub to try to shower which was what I was doing before. It's just a more pleasant experience.

When my shower came, the bottom part was warped. I had to return it and wait a whole month before I got it back. The new one was all good but the other problem I had was that it slides even if it was not supposed to. However, the installation team was great. They were very courteous even when they came back. They let me know what they were doing. It was a walk-in shower and it has bars I can reach. I don’t need help in getting in and out it. I'm satisfied with it and I would recommend it to anybody that’s handicapped or has arthritis. It's great.

I’ve heard about Safe Step for years and they come here all the time. When it was time for me to have my tub done which is needed for my handicap situation, Safe Step was the company that I saw on TV. Their sales reps were excellent. However, we didn’t have a good experience with them after the agent came and took the deposit and wrote everything up. He doesn’t have the actual eyes because once the crew came to take the install, they found a problem behind the wall which wasn’t the agent’s fault. But other than that, my experience with them was great. The guys that came to install were excellent. The whole thing is just a blessing to me. I'm very much satisfied because everything was just excellent.

Initially, I was interested in the bath. It looked like something that I was looking for. I was getting it for my daughter who has multiple sclerosis. Then the lady told me we also do the shower, so we ended up doing the shower. It's very nice and so spacious. We opted not to put the door and I got the shower curtain. I was talking to my granddaughter about it a couple of days ago. She adjusted opening the door making it wider into where the shower is so that my daughter could get in with her walker or if she had to go in with the wheel chair. I had already taken off the door off the area where the shower and the toilet is. So all they did was widen the entrance. They took off about four inches and that made all the difference in the world. Because we were trying before and I couldn't get her in with the walker. It was almost not safe because sometimes she'll be walking and falls. Now, my daughter is able to take a shower by herself which is a big deal.
The installation team was also very nice. Initially, the young man came but didn't do the cart measurements so they had to redo it. We had to put off the installation and they did a good job on it. We have everything - the chair and plenty of shelves where they put where we asked them to. I love the shower head, too. One part of it is the rain shower and then we have the one that we bring over to the sides. And it's easier for my daughter to do the hand held. So far, everything is great. I had a very good experience with Safe Step and I love it.

I have arthritis and I'm not able to use the regular tub. I got the Safe Step shower and my favorite thing about it is the seat because I can't stand long when I'm about to take a good shower. However when I sit on the seat, I cannot reach the cut of spigot. If that could be adjusted some way, it would make it much easier. To turn the water off and on, I have to get off the seat and make a step to the fountain spigot. The two people that put the shower in were very friendly and seemed to be knowledgeable of what they were doing. However, the pan of the first shower that they put in had a hole in the bottom of it. They came back, took it out and replaced it. Other than that, it's been a favorable experience.

My brother-in-law always wanted to put a tub in for his mother but my mother-in-law wanted a shower. I called Safe Steps because he had already contacted them and they ended up charging me the same thing for the shower for some reason. $8,000 was a ridiculous amount for a shower. It should have been a lot cheaper. Then a man came and measured everything and measured it wrong. What I also didn't like was they promised me a certain day and it was three or four weeks later before we even got the shower installed. The installers were nice.

I had a regular tub before but trying to climb in and out of that with what I have was almost impossible. We called several companies and we didn't know who to choose and Safe Step was the first one to respond. The sales rep was a good person and the installation team did the job well. I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis so it's very hard for me to get up and down the stairs, but the installers patiently waited for me to get up the stairs to check out things for them. We got their shower which we have first seen in a home show. The seat is my favorite since it's very hard for me to stand up for a length of time. I also use the handrail a lot. I now feel a lot safer and I'm glad we got the shower.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs allowed me to make payments for the walk in shower I got from them. However, I was thinking that maybe I should have gotten credit for some benefits but he just gave me a fixed price. The installers did the work in one day and they vacuumed too. I’m 74 years old right now and don’t know how long I’ll be able to be mobile. Eventually, it will get harder for me as I get older. I like that I can walk in and don't have to raise my legs as opposed to a regular tub. There are grab bars there too. I received a bill from Safe Step but it didn’t reflect the $1,900 that I sent. It only showed $700 and something. Also, there was the $100 that I owed which was supposed to be $75.

The Safe Step installation team came at about 8:00 in the morning and were gone at 2:30. It's a lot of money, $8,000, for a short time like that but they left everything clean after installing the walk-in shower. I got the smooth siding and I was expecting it would be interlocking on the corners, but these are just straight panels and they glued them on the wall. If the corners would be interlocking, no water would get through it. The floor is very slippery, so I had to lay a rubber mat down on the floor.
I needed to buy some more hand grips with the suction cup because I didn't realize I could not add anything after the installation. They said it's the way it shows on the pictures and that's the way they install it. When they took everything out, they put 2×6's on the back where they put the grips. I was asked how I high I wanted the handles and I said if he could put it more level instead of an angle but he cannot because that's where the wood is. Also, the fold down seat seems to be far apart from the shut off handles. The bath tub before was six foot long so everything is quite a bit apart so I had to put a chair so I could get closer to the shut off. But it's okay for anybody who can stand or walk, which I can't.

It was a good experience with the Safe Tub salesman but he was a fast talker, a high pressure salesman, and got us going in on a lot more money but then didn't deliver what he promised. What I got was not seamless like he promised and it's not a custom-made thing. The installation team didn't know what level means as well. They put two shelves and a soap dish and all three of them were out of level. They left an open can of a plastic cleaner sitting on my counter, a piece of pipe with jagged edges in the bathroom and another piece in the pile of sawdust. They did not clean up. They made us pay a $100 for a piece of plywood that we didn't think was our fault so we did not have a nice experience. I like the idea of the walk-in shower though. It works okay in that I’m able to sit down and take a shower.

Also, there's a lot of room in it for him to take a good shower and wash his hair. The reps were great. Everyone of them worked with us. They were kind and considerate, answered every question we had, and did everything we asked them to do. The installation team was like part of the family.
