Years ago, I had a walk-in tub installed in one of the other rooms and we are very pleased with that. So, when it came time to have a walk-in shower put in, I just called Safe Step. The sales guy was really friendly, really nice, and knowledgeable. As far as installation, I stayed out of their way. The installers were very good and courteous. They cleaned things up as they went and, at the end of the day, made sure things were cleaned before they left. Two people came out on a Monday, tore it out and then on Tuesday, they had to wait for the inspector to show up. They came back on Wednesday and put it all back together. The only thing is waiting for the permit took four days. I started on a Monday, and I got my final permit on a Thursday that I could go ahead and take a shower. Otherwise, everything worked well.
As of right now, everything is working well. The grab bars are located in the right place. I have a nice large seat to sit down on. Once I step into it, I feel safe standing there. The floor is very solid and non-slip. It's just on the end by the showerhead that I have three things to put soap on, I wish I had another one closer to the seat where I could put my sponges and stuff like that. They said they do make them, but I said I'll give it time and then I'll call them up. Overall, it is really great that I can go in a shower and sit down and enjoy myself. Walking alone with a walker, I couldn't step into the regular tub that was in there to get a shower and clean up. I'm satisfied with the workmanship, the quality and the price. So, I would recommend it.

Somebody came from Safe Step and told me what they offer, how much it costs and when it will be done. Four men were here for the installation and they took the old bathtub out. It took them all day to clean up and take things apart and put the new walk-in shower in. The shower helps me clean and shampoo my hair. At times, I can do it myself but at times, I need help. The Safe Step walk-in shower is excellent. Right now, I can't live without it.

The Safe Step installers cleaned everything up and everything was done good. They were here late the first day so they had to come back the second day but that was fine. It was no big hurry. The only thing I'm having a problem with is they gave me a 74 by 74 shower curtain that’s a clear one for the inside. And I can't buy one anywhere that size. It's way off and I got two inches of the clear shower curtain showing.

I like my Safe Step walk-in shower. It's comfortable. I like all the features. However, I thought the installer would put one of those racks for me to get out with. But he said that would have to be extra so I don't have the bar to get out of the tub.

I have a walk-in shower and walk-in bathtub from Safe Step. I like their availability and workmanship. The installation team was very good. I also worked when I was growing up. I did physical labor so I knew what a laborer can do with a hammer and tools. They came out with their vehicle. They took all the stuff out and put it outside. They had a way to assemble it right there. They came in and removed everything within about 15 minutes. They cleaned up then brought the stuff in as they built it. These people knew what they're doing. They answered all my questions. I asked them about things. They were very clear and simple. The quality of the product is great. It gets between your toes. I'm 80 years old so the hardest thing now is you clean between your toes and behind your ears. You get inside, close the machine, turn the water on, and it fills up just about to your neck. Then you turn on the jets and that feels good.

I liked how they came out, how we discussed things, and how they put things in and cleaned up. They were very professional, nice and respectable men that came out. They did their job very well. I like the shower. Before, my husband was scared getting over in the tub because he's off-balanced. But now, he showers all the time.

The Safe Step reps were pretty friendly. They explained the product to me. It was a good product. The installers took out the old tub and got everything cleaned up, and then they installed the new shower. They impressed me. It only took them a day to get it all done. So they did a really good job. It was done very quickly. Before they left, they made sure everything was nice and clean. They also explained the product and showed us exactly how to use it, all the features, and how it worked. It was a very good experience. So far, it's been a good shower for me.

The sides and the showerhead are fine. I had several other security bars that the VA had installed on the previous shower and the installers installed them with the one that comes with the set. I get my husband in there and he showers on his own now. He loves it.

I gave Safe Step Walk-In Showers a call to set up an appointment. They had a nice man come and sit down at my house. He explained everything to my husband and I. I'm my mom's healthcare proxy. So, I need to make sure everything that we need and she needs, being that it's the one shower in the whole house was exactly what everybody across the board in the house needed. The man was very helpful. I was running late that day. He wound up doing the presentation to explain everything twice, which was nice. He did one for my husband, and he explained it fully to him. He did it again when I got home. He was efficient, understanding, and down-to-earth.
Several men showed up for the installation. They had one particular man whose name was Sergio, and he was awesome. I was very surprised about how well it was done. It's a one day install. They made sure everything is protected. Everything was sealed, so no water would get in. And they were out the door. They were done by decent hours so that we could have dinner.
The quality of the shower is phenomenal. My mom wasn't able to tell us where she wanted the grab bar, that they get us as part of the package, installed. So, I wanted her to get into the shower, get a feel and then let Safe Step know. Sergio said, "Not a problem. You call me whenever that happens. And I'll come back and I'll install it for you." I called him on a Friday and said, "We have the bar. Mom knows where it is. Does tomorrow work for you?" And he said, "Absolutely does." He came. He never asked for any money, made sure that it is exactly where we wanted it. And he left. It was phenomenal.
There were a couple of foundations that Safe Step said they've worked with over the years to come up with simple ways for people who cannot grab hold onto something and wash themselves. They came up with such unique ways to help out. It's a very positive experience I've had. It wasn't a wham-bam-thank-you-maam, "I'm in and out. I have the next job to go to."

Everything went well with Safe Step. Everybody was very polite and professional. They were a little slow getting started but that had to do with my local town's permits department. Other than that, everything went smoothly. The guys were nice and courteous. They came in and cleaned up after themselves. The shower looks great. I like that it's very low level to the ground shower so I can get in. It's got nice bars. I'm a very tall person, and they accommodated me by putting it at the tallest height for me when they installed. I would highly recommend them. I'm a 100% disabled veteran, and this is a veteran package that they offer to us vets. Not all companies do that.

Everything he said is exactly what happened. The installers came early and got to work. There were three of them. When we had any questions, they answered them. There was not much that we really had to say until the very end when they explained everything. They did everything. They cleared everything. They took everything with them. Nothing was left behind, which was great. Everything was finished before 5 o'clock.

The process with Safe Step was too long. We started in February with our first measurement, and it was not completed till June. When they came to start taking the tub out, the measurements were wrong. They had to redo everything. They got the shower put in. But then the seat that they were going to install did not come with the bolt. We waited on the safety bars to put them up until we knew the exact height compared to the seat. I was very disappointed. But my husband loves it.

It was just two of them and they did a great job. They walked me through it, showed me everything and explained a few things about it. It's roomier than the tub that I had. The only thing I was wondering about is if they had some magic way to keep the water in instead of losing some of it. I didn't know if they had bigger shower curtains available or anything like that.

He reached this lady and she was on vacation, took the call and told him what to do. Everything just fell into place. They started building it the next day.
Their customer service was the greatest thing in the world. I love the way that I was treated. The installers were very professional and friendly. They went even further to make things happen. They had a little incident and they worked it out. My favorite feature is the way the water comes out in all four positions. I was disappointed about the whole situation. The guys that came out had to do the job twice because there were many mistakes made. And they left it in a mess. My husband who's a contractor had to fill in things because one of the guys was not experienced helping the other guy. I could tell immediately when the guys pulled up. The helper that did stuff was being taught as they went along. They were nice guys, but I was not pleased with the job.
SafeStep was more expensive than everybody else. But they were supposed to give me some extra money back. According to Henry, they would give us a check because they charged too much. Once I paid them in full, $10,000 and some change, in a check, they went right to the bank and cashed it across the street from where I live, at Chase. I never heard from Henry again, or the supervisor or whoever is supposed to be in charge that was supposed to take off money from all the stuff I went through and charged me extra. I would not recommend Safe Step Walk-In Showers to a friend.

The response time from everybody has been good. Everything's gone well. We did the walk-in shower specifically for my husband and it's been wonderful. The Safe Step rep was wonderful. She was a good saleswoman. I made a decision right there and then to do it, even though I knew it was more money than I probably needed to spend. I could have got it done somewhere else cheaper, but I felt I liked her presentation, I liked her, and I like the guarantee, and I didn't wanna shop around. Also, the payments made it easy. Just one person came for the installation and he was phenomenal. I can't speak more highly of him. Because of our permitting requirements here, he had to come in three times. The first piece had to be inspected, second piece had to be inspected, and then the final. He was on time every time, cleaned up after himself, and didn't bother me. He even tightened the lock on my front door. I can't praise him enough.

I needed to have my bathroom remodeled and I was looking for a way to get it fixed. I called Safe Step's number and was able to get through and work along with them. The rep took his time and explained to me all the options I had, and I took the one that I thought was best for me. The installation went well. The installers took a day to do it as long as I was willing to give them the hours beyond the time they were to stay. Because according to them, they came from Orlando. They could stay as long as they wanted to complete it so that they wouldn't have to drive back two or three days doing it. So, I stayed all night and they completed the work and it was good. Since they finished, it is good so far.
I like the way the walk-in shower looks. But I have to find something that when I clean the floor, it would be clean white as it is because I'm finding difficultly having it to be like it was originally. The one they use on the wall is good, but the one they use on the floor gets stained and I'm finding it difficult to remove the stain. But overall, it's good. If you want the work done efficiently, you might as well take SafeStep than going for a contractor that wouldn't have your work done when you want it.

The rep that I talked to was honest and told me that, "If you're thinking about doing this, now would be the time to do it because we can get you a better deal right now than if you wait till the next month or whatever." I was there when they did the installation and I was amazed. I'm handicapped, so I was here observing the whole time. The installation happened to be a rainy day. The installers put down a carpet and nothing came in or went out of this house that wasn't in a box. There was no dust. They closed the door of the bathroom, so there was hardly any noise. It didn't interfere with anything I did.
I live in a ranch and I have a ramp because I use a walker and a wheelchair. So they had to carry everything off the ramp and back down the ramp and up the ramp. When they finally got finished and took me into the bathroom to show me and explained it all to me and showed me how it worked, I told them that I hoped they get paid by foot mile because between noon and 5:30, they had gone up and down that ramp 80 times.
I love my walk-in. It's been a challenge to learn how to use it. I have a personal care person who's right there with me. So we had to learn. I needed a new walker to use it because my wheeled walker was too slippery to get in there. But it wasn't anything that had anything to do with the shower. I love the shower. It's wonderful. It's easy to clean. It's so bright. It's airy and nice in there. I'm very, very happy with it.
I've had many people come who have had other people do similar things in their house, and they were astonished at some of the things that I told them that Safe Step had done that are happening behind the pretty things that you see when you walk in there, how well it was installed and everything, and the guarantee that it comes with. It wasn't cheap but it was worth the investment.

I like the height of it though it keeps falling down every time I have a shower. I can't hold the bar up and turn it at the same time. I'm not capable because I have to stand on a ladder. When the rep comes next weekend, he's gonna help me fix that bar. I don't like baths, so the walk-in shower worked out perfectly for me. It is easy to get in and out of, and I've got my chair. I've talked to quite a few people who said they can't take baths anymore because they can’t get out of it so I would suggest anybody that they do it even though it's expensive. Because in the long run, it's going to help you because you're safer.

Safe Step Walk-In Showers came into my house and told me what was different with theirs. The sales rep was very professional. He answered all my questions. He showed me pictures and videos, and explained exactly what would happen. And if I had any questions, they gave me a number to call and said, “Hey, just ask.” He was very good in his sales pitch. What they offered was the bottom of it was very well textured, so it's non-slip, plus all the safety bars and seats were what I wanted. And Safe Step offered us a lifetime warranty on all parts, which was nice.
The installers made a mistake when they first came in. They took everything out. It was good that they made the mistake because it would have caused problems in the long run. They took out the bathtub, the walls to make sure that gas lines would not get interfered with. Fortunately, everything was where it should be. When they went to check the drain, now, part of this was not their fault,
Whoever originally put in the drain put it in wrong and didn't screw it together. So, we would have had a whole major leak. But the installers said that the drain pipe had a crack in it. We never saw the crack. But they said they couldn't go any further until we got a plumber in there. We ended up getting all the plumbing redone, not just the drainage, but also all the stuff coming in, which was corroded. They were very nice about it and apologized. But I said, “It's good you did because we've now got new plumbing in the house.”
Their work ethics were very good. They were very professional. We bantered. I like to talk to the people that work for me. They screwed up again. And he admitted. He was very apologetic. They have three different kinds of showers. We ordered the middle range shower, which means you have to cut the holes a certain way. And he miscut. He cut it through the cheaper shower and looked at the paper, said, “Oh, no.” And he said, “What we can do is we can put the wall in and do it and then come back with the other wall and take the wall that we put in so you can use the shower.” I said, “Just do it. Just bring the wall back.” And they were able to fit me in two days later. So, I didn't have to wait a long time.
It is a huge investment. But I love the whole thing. I've been spending nights here. And the chair is wonderful to have for my mom to sit down. Because she had one of those chairs that you could remove and plastic. This folds down off the wall, so we don't have to lift it in and out. If I want more room in the shower for myself, I've got it. The hand bars are wonderful for her. She uses them all the time. The plumber that did the work was very impressed with their work.

I love the shower but I would not recommend Safe Step.

The sales rep was a fast talker. I didn't understand some of the things -- what it involved and what the things look like. He also didn't show me any samples, which I would have liked to see. He was a nice guy, though, and so were the installers. The only thing is they had to build a short wall, too, and $800 is way too much but I paid it. They built the wall but they never finished it. I asked if they were not gonna tape the wall and coat it to get it ready to be painted and they said they don't do that. But they had a sales lady that I talked to who said that when they're done, the wall will be ready for paint. They didn't do anything about it and I spent several days taping it, coating it, and sanding it myself. I talked to somebody else a few days later and they said they would knock off $250 off the bill. It's worth a lot more than 250 bucks and I didn't even want the money. I just wanted it to be ready for painting. Other than that, the lady I talked to a couple of times, Pam, was very well-mannered. Also, I like the walk-in shower. It's more room.

Everybody was pleasant and very informative. The salesman didn't try to upsell me. He actually talked me out of doing the sit-in tub because it wasn't right for us. We would have to change out everything and it would have been a very expensive purchase. The walk-in shower was just right and works out great. At first, the shower seemed to be a little too curved, but I got used to that. The only thing is when I'm standing in it, the angle of the head is tilted as down as it can get. It puts me right where the wall holder for the head is on the right and my elbow tends to bump into it here and there and there's no way to tilt it any further down. But other than that, it is a great product and it's worth it if that's what you're looking for.

Then, we were surprised at how fast the installers were able to do the installation. They got here at a little before 8:00 in the morning and they were done by 2 o'clock. I'm very happy with the shower and I recommend Safe Step to anybody.

The glue they use during installation is terrible. The smell in the house was terrible but it went away after four or five days. Also, when they sold me on the shower, the rep said it wasn't slippery but after the installer did the job, he said I'm gonna have to contact the company to make it not slippery. It's really not great. I had an occupational therapist in there helping my husband and they were shocked at how slippery it is. They were sliding around. And I didn't really realize that it's lifted. It's really hard for the wheelchair to get over and we're having to add a little ramp inside.
Another thing is we can't ever have the rain going when we have the handle thing and there's no place to put the handle thing properly. It's like we're just slinging the handle thing, that by hand nozzle, some place. Also, I thought the top shower thing was supposed to move out more towards the middle. The Safe Step shower is not quite what I was hoping for. It's okay but had I known it's the way that it is, I would not have purchased it.

I interacted with some of their workers that put in the walk-in shower and it was good. They said that they were gonna finish in one day and they did. But a couple of days after the shower was in, I noticed the chip on one of the sliding glass doors. I called them no sooner when I noticed it and they said they were gonna put in a work order, but I haven't heard from anyone. Other than that, the shower is easy access -- easy in and out compared to the tub we had.

There was one thing that they didn't have that I needed though. They had one soap thing to go at the back of the tub, but I needed one to go at the front of the tub.

The installation of our Safe Step was fine, but the folks didn't clean up after themselves. Other than that, everything's fine. The shower is great. I like the way it cleans. We also get in and out without falling. We put some rails in there for my husband in certain places in the shower, so when he stands up or sits down, he can get up and down. This shower was ideal for him because he'd get in and take a good hot shower and not be afraid that he's gonna fall. It has really come in handy lately because he had a bad abscess on his elbow. I had him stick his elbow in a thing of water, and then I said, "Why don't you get in the shower?" One day, he got in the shower about four times to protect his elbow and held it under the hot water and that helped speed the healing process up.

I talked to the Safe Step salesman when he came out, and I met the installer, but I wasn't here the whole day that he was here. Everything seems fine though. We had a little back issue after the installation like the toilet wasn't flushing properly the next day, but it's all been resolved. I had the gentleman's number from him calling to confirm, and they didn't come to fix it at all. They said that it was not anything that they could help us with, and if we were having problems, we should call a plumber. My son fixed it.
I'm not impressed about Safe Step, but my dad seems to be good with it and he’s the one that counts. They said that they used high-grade products but to me, it looks like very average products. Also, with the other functions of the house not functioning properly after they left, I was kind of disappointed in the response that we got on that.

A guy named Kevin came and spoke with us. He was very nice and knowledgeable. It then took a couple of days to get the shower put in properly. The installers were okay but they did not install the walk-in shower quite like how we would have liked. Their workmanship was just not that great. They left things that my husband had to go and point out to them so they would cover them. When they took out the old sink or put in the new shower, they didn't put a gooseneck in it so they had to come back. My husband said things were not installed straight. They did come back in about two days and put the gooseneck back in. Nothing has been done to the rest of it. They said they weren't coming back.
The other problem is the showerhead. The spray does not reach where the seat is so if you want to sit in the seat and take a shower, you couldn't do it. The price of Safe Step is a little too high for the work that they did. I left an email to their rep Sierra if they had or if they were supposed to give us a wand to put the showerhead in if you're sitting in the seat. I haven't heard back from her yet. The wand is there but there's no holder to put it on.

He also gave us time to talk it over. As it turns out, the tub has really been a savior for me. I recently had knee replacement surgery and I am recovering from that. I can get in and get a shower, which I couldn't do before. That was one of the reasons why I went with the Safe Step because I couldn't get in and out of the shower before that. The installation crew was very methodical in what they did. They went above and beyond. I got the walk-in shower and one of the installers came down and asked me how tall I was. I told him I'm 6’2. He said, “Okay. I don't want you ducking under the shower to take a shower, so I'll set it up so it's high enough, it'll be above your head when you shower.” That was very nice because he didn't have to do that. I was very pleased with it.
My walk-in shower has a handheld showerhead that you can put back onto the holder. It also has grab bars and a little lift. It’s very maintenance-free and I really enjoy that. I had to contact Mr. ** about the seat and he sent one. Also, when they said deluxe shower, I assumed that the shower doors would automatically come with the shower. There are a couple of rough spots on the walk-in shower that doesn't look quite finished, but the main problem was within two weeks, the shower started leaking down the bottom in the basement. The Safe Step reps had to come out and fix that. About two weeks after that, I was taking a shower and the whole metal piping from the shower fell down on the floor of the shower and I had to wait about five days for the reps to come out and fix that. But it seems to be fine now.
I was disappointed in the look of the walk-in shower. Where the reps had to cut the shelving for the shower still looks rough. They could have sanded it down. I didn't like that look but there wasn’t anything they could do about it. When the rep came out to fix the part that fell in the tub, they didn't have any screws. I don't know what was holding us up there and the drain looks very messy the way they put it in. My husband asked if there was anything he could do about that spot and he didn't say anything. I'm surprised he didn't do anything. He was the one who put it in.
I'm not a picky person, but for that much money, it doesn't look professional. It doesn't look as streamlined as it should look. It doesn't bother me that bad but as much money as we paid for it, you don't want to see jagged edges. It is disappointing but I can live with that. I don't have to climb out of my tub anymore. When I called Safe Step, the reps were very nice and the installers came back as soon as they could. When I told the guy it was leaking and we had to replace drop ceiling panels, where it was leaking, he came out the very next day. The original order was that my wife would be able to get into the shower without having to go over anything. There was a rubber strip at the bottom that she could step on. The sales lady with Safe Step that came by told me that this new shower was going to be a little bit larger. We signed the deal and gave the down payment. They set up the payment at the bank and everything went good.
We waited about eight weeks then finally, somebody called. They came by with a shower that was 32 inches which was smaller than what we have right now. They said we had to go to a 40-inch. The guy drove off and came back about 15 minutes later. He said the 40-inch has a step over which was about 2.5 inches. I discussed it with my wife and she said she was able to do that. But that was not what we wanted. We had about a 7-inch step on the original shower and she said Safe Step's sounded a lot better. I have a 40-inch shower, and they put in the grab bars everywhere that we wanted. I asked for an enlarged chair in there. The first time that the guy came out, he had a small chair that was rated for 250. My wife is close to 200.
I’m happy with the shower, but the experience was a little bit frustrating. Later on, it slipped out that the standard sizes are 32 and 36. 40 is an extra. The sales lady wrote down a 32 but to me, she was talking about a 36. Now, I’m still not sure if the 36 doesn’t come without a step over. I asked that, but I was quickly silenced. They said it doesn't. But it was being dragged out from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. The office didn’t follow through on some of the requests. You better have everything in writing and read what they write down.

Recently had a walk-in tub installed for my 90 yr old father who came to live with us after his wife passed. The design of the tub, despite the sale's associate description, was not that user friendly. The opening of the door into the tub, while it may be good to eliminate possible leaking out, is not convenient to anyone with mobility issues. The location of the drain inside the tub is not located at a convenient location as there appears to be more probability that the drain cover will be step on and water starts filling the tub. If one, who may not be aware of this, opens the door, the water spills out all over the floor. The location of the hand rails are not at a convenient level or location to provide good stability for getting into and out of the tub. The one handle to the front of the tub, is hindered by the door opening into it.
Had I seen this tub in person and had been able to measure its convenience and functional utility for my father's usage, I more than likely would have passed and gone with a simple walk-in shower with a seat. After spending over $18,000 on this product, I conclude it would have been far better to simply have stayed with the shower already present. I would not recommend this product to anyone with mobility issues and I certainly would not recommend this product given its cost.

There wasn't enough room, so we needed to put shelves. They came back and put them in. And they put the other corner to make it match. So, we couldn’t put the one arm rest on. But my sister uses it. And that one arm rest does help. They had to take the little thing that look like a half of a steering wheel, which is fine. But I had fallen out of a tub or two. We couldn’t take baths anymore because we couldn't get in and out of the tub easily. So, we’re pleased.
I like that I can walk right in the tub. There is one thing we have to be careful about. We have to make sure that the shower curtain is down all the way. Because if not, we can get water out on the floor. It's an investment for a lifetime. Go for it. You have nothing to lose from it, especially in my age group. He can sit there and let the water run as long as he wants to to soothe his aching body. He's a very tall person who has problems with arthritis in his knees. The previous shower was included with the bathtub so he had a high step to get into the shower.

If the salesperson thought it wasn't gonna work, she shouldn't have taken the sale. When you're making a $10,000-plus purchase, you shouldn't hear people whining about installing it. But the installers were good guys. They had to reconstruct the water lines and the drain because it is a mobile home and they did a great job on that. They also had to go to Lowe's and get some parts.
The good news is everything works. The shower is for my mother-in-law and she loves it. However, the seat is ridiculous. I'm a big guy and it takes both my hands to set it down and pull it back up. It's way too heavy for an elderly person and the salesperson should have advised on that. The chair was a big deal to my mother-in-law because she's 91 years old. What she does is just leave it down all the time so it makes it a little bit more awkward to get in and out. The grab bars were put because we assumed that the chair was going to be up. However, I wasn't thrilled over the fact that the back of the metal thing around the handle wasn't attached right. It just hung loose. There could have been water down the wall so we had to be real careful how we used it. We did have some issues with the shower too. It was leaking. We love the shower. It's easier. It makes the whole bathroom bigger and more accessible. It's very convenient that the showerhead is up high because my husband's tall. When he can't stand up, he can sit on the nice little bench that just folds right down. It's not in the way all the time. I decided to get the Safe Step shower back in the first of December because my wife was bedridden and needed a new shower. And Safe Step promised they’d have it within five to eight weeks. They didn't make the schedule, and they haven’t completed the installation. I got a very nice lady call me over a week ago. She offered a $1,500 discount for the inconvenience that is involved. And I agreed that once they finish the installation, to pay them their balance immediately, which would be 8,500. That was the last I heard of her.
Safe Step has a very good product. And what they've done so far is a good job, except incompletion of the job that's fitting all the rails and the shower curtain, and then caulking the empty spaces where the fixtures have been installed. We can partially use the shower. They broke through to the closet, and that has to be repaired too. And in the process, they broke the hasp on the outside door so we haven’t been able to lock the door since. All those have been listed in telephone to Angelica, who is the initial contractor. So everybody has the action, the action is sitting there waiting to happen.
Timeliness was the main feature, and another feature was putting everything within my wife's reach. They blew on those two so I wouldn't recommend it. I know Safe Step has a national reputation. I don’t want to destroy it. But for my own personal point of view, I wouldn't go with them again based on the timeliness of completion of the job. Time was of the essence in the condition of my wife, for which the shower was purchased.

My wife fell in the shower and I thought she fainted. I got on the internet right away and looked for some shower then found Safe Step. I didn't look for a second one. I just called them. I was anxious to buy it. I didn't care much about the price. If it hadn't been an emergency, I would have been more deliberate about my thoughts and how much it costs. I just wanted to get my wife in a safe place. The saleslady was very courteous and informative. Just surprised me when I got the final price. But other than that, she offered if there was anything wrong, she would come back.
The people that did the work were very meticulous. We had a couple of problems outside of the shower itself, one that I needed to call a plumber. The other was that the floor was not substantial under the old shower, and they had to replace it so it took them a little longer. But they were very conscientious about what they were doing and they did a beautiful job.
The one thing they didn't do right was install the seat at the height that my wife needed it. She could reach the floor when sitting, but only with her toes. Somebody came back and readjusted it as low as they could without showing the drill holes behind the seat. But still, it's an inch higher than her chair that she was using in the old shower. They can’t adjust it lower without tearing it apart because if they go lower, it's going to show the drill holes. The girl that was working with her dad might have fit her height, but it certainly didn't fit my wife. We're just gonna have to accept the fact that the seat is too high. Somebody should make sure that they adjust the seat height properly to the customer's need. My wife is still using her old chair and puts it in the shower every time she goes there, so that's a disappointment. Other than that, everything is good.

I'm not quite happy with the way the shower is set up. The shower is the flex hose and I have to put it up high, which is my problem. I can't reach very high to put it there to use it as a shower, which I enjoy. Also, the guy explained that to get hot water, we gotta turn the handle to the right, which is the opposite of everything I've ever done. But that's another thing we just adapt to. I was rather disappointed that I was trying to save money and I chose the wrong package. But other than that, the installation was great. They were done a lot sooner than I had anticipated and it was clean. They did a tremendous job of putting it in.

The salesman of Safe Step pitched the product pretty well. We liked what he had to say. However, when the installers came, they did a terrible job. They brought the wrong pieces and brought damaged parts. They cut through two of my walls and said they repaired them but they didn't repair them yet. When they installed the drainpipe, they also broke my ceiling in my basement and it's not repaired correctly. It's not done yet.
This has been almost a two-month ordeal. Parts they say that they need are in but they haven't contacted us in over a month. So we have a shower we can't even use in our master bath. I wish we had never used them now. The salesman was good at first, but now he wouldn't respond back. The initial cost of this was 13,000. We paid in good faith, 5,000 and that's all they're gonna get. If they don't come back shortly, I'm just going to tell them not to come back. I'll get somebody else to put the other piece in and that's it. I'm done with them.

The sales rep from Safe Step was pleasant and nice. He told me about everything. He introduced the walk-in shower and showed me the catalog that comes with it, and I decided I would go for it. The final product is good. I can get in the shower now on my own although I still have to have my daughter in there with me because I’m still shaking. I'm not standing strong enough to be on my own yet. Safe Step did a very good job. The only thing about it is when I tried to get in to check it myself, the seat is too low when I sit down. Because of my knee, it's hard to get out of the chair so the reps are supposed to come back and bring the door. I ordered the door after I had ordered the shower stall, which is a shower curtain. But I didn't like the shower curtain. So the next day, I called and told them that I would rather have the door. But they haven't brought it yet.

However, when they finally put it in, it looked like they were putting leftovers from another job. The seat wouldn’t fit in and I couldn’t close the doors. But when I called them, they said they would take care of it. They sent the guy back. He ripped the whole thing out and he put the right one in. They took care of their mistakes, so I’m happy in the end. They really did a good job and the equipment they put in looks very nice.

The installation team members were very nice and courteous guys. They put a rug down where they were walking back and forth and they kept things lean. Since then, I've been enjoying taking a shower. But the water flow is not all that great. It's slow so I was gonna take one of the shower heads off to see if there's a pressure reducer. I'd like a little more pressure but it does its job.
There was a time when my drain was clogged and it kept backing up. But I finally got that fixed. I had to put Drano and some other stuff down. I had to stop the shower in order for it to drain before I could finish the shower. I used a plunger to try and pull the stuff out or in. After about four showers, it finally went fine.
Additionally, Safe Step put in a hook for me to put my towels on so I can get them from just around the corner of the shower curtain. But they didn't put it in with drywall screws. Instead, the tech put it in with hardwood screws and it just came back out with a little square of drywall. It looked like the tech tried twice and it didn't work so he tried to screw in two other holes. So I stuck one of those towel holders that are using the sticky tape that can come off.

We got a Safe Step walk-In showers for my mother who couldn't get into a bathtub anymore. The installation took about four days. The installers did a good job of removing things. They did a good job with the installation and we're happy with it. It served the purpose that we wanted. But they did not align the fixtures, which is not a functional thing, but it's an annoying thing. The circular grab bar that goes around the controls is off-center. Then, the controls aligned with the showerhead are slightly off-center. Part of this is a design flaw with their showers in that the shelves are too large to accommodate that circular grab bar.
People would go with Safe Step to put safe showers in there for the elderly. Otherwise, they could do something else less expensive. There were also lots of delays with the permitting, but that's the city. That's not really in their control. Other than that, they did a great job. The quality is good. It doesn't feel like fiberglass, it feels like real tile. It looks good, too. It doesn't look like a hospital bathroom.

I like the Safe Step walk-in shower. It gives me a little more room than I had before. My wife was not too happy though. She'd rather have the tub there because she said too much water escapes from under that shower curtain. That lip ought to be about two inches. Another thing, there's no place to put a bar of soap. All the other tub surrounds, they got a little alcove in the wall you put your soap in. There are just two shelves and they're on the opposite end of where you're at when you're taking a shower. They're up by the showerhead. If they were back in that corner where you're actually standing or sitting on a chair, it would be a lot easier to reach. But I'm pleased with it and it's so easy to use.

Doug, the sales rep, was fantastic. But after the shower was installed, I was surprised that I didn't hear from him. The people were good but I had all kinds of problems with the installation. They were supposed to come on the 28th of February, but they came the following week, which was fine. I asked the guys how long it would take and they said, “Oh, we'll be done by the end of the day.” However, they didn't have all the parts. They had to come back. They came back, and then it was complete.
I noticed as I was doing dishes downstairs that I had a leak in the ceiling. So, I called the company there and they sent the guy out. Because I told him, “I can see where some of the seams aren't sealed,” and thinking it was that. He was the one that helped install the shower, and he sealed the areas. And then he left and I let it dry. We didn’t use the shower for three days, and we still had a leak downstairs. I called them back and they sent the young man out that did the caulking. But when he was troubleshooting, he was trying to find something that we did that caused the leak. And I said, “Our tub that was there never leaked. You've caulked every area. I'm gonna give you a flashlight and let you go around the shower area again and make sure everything was caulked at this time.”
And he did. He went downstairs out to his van and called somebody. He came back and said, “Well, they said it's either the shower head attachment or the piping up there or it's the drain.” So he tested the shower attachment, drain pipe, and said it wasn't that. And then he checked the drain and said, “Well, it’s the drain, probably.”
A couple of days later, the kid that installed the shower came. It was another young man, tall kid, that said he just came back from a 90-day training on installation of things. So he said it is the drain and he asked the one man that installed the shower. He said, “When you put the drain in, there's a flange that goes over the piping.” And he asked him if he did a sealant with that. The guys said, “No.” He said, “Well, in school, they told us to put a sealant around that flange to make sure we weren't going to have any problems.” Then they had to replace the top part of the drain and the attachment. The girl from the plumbing office, whoever Safe Step hired, called me and told me that they were going to order it. That was on a Thursday and she said, “We'll get it in next week. And because of our schedule, it will probably be Friday of that week, or the following week, before we come and install that.” I got pissed.
I called Doug's telephone number and left a message on Saturday. Told him, “This service is totally out of line. We've paid for this thing and we're not getting the service.” It has been dragged out for one reason or another. And if they were really interested in getting this job complete, they could have FedExed overnight that drain. And they should have been on the phone telling me, “If it's okay, we're coming out to install it the next work day.” And they did not. Doug didn't call me back, but apparently, he got ahold of the plumbing company that was installing the shower. And on Monday morning, at a quarter to eight, which I know Doug got ahold of them, they said the part was in and they were going to come install it right then.
I know that Doug got ahold of him and probably chewed their butts out. But this service just wasn't right. And when we had the walk-in tub put in here in Michigan, it was all done in one day, no problems. I was happy with it. Then when we had the shower put in, down at our condo in North Carolina, I thought, “This was a big, big mistake. Really big mistake.” But now, it's working.
The thing that pissed me off with the girl that handled Safe Step at this plumber’s office, I said, “So y'all are going to repair the ceiling in our kitchen, too.” “Well, I don't know if we're going to do that.” And I said, “Somebody better do it. I'm not paying to have it done. This was your fault to begin with.” I told that to Doug in my phone message that I left with him. They repaired the ceiling that day, too. So I’m happy with it now. But to get to that point, it was ridiculous.
I was almost ready to talk to Doug and tell him, “You need to give me a discount off of what I've already paid for the shower, for the time, the frustration that we had to go through to get things taken care of.” But I never heard anything on that. I would not recommend a shower or walk-in tub down in that area only because of the company that Safe Step had to come and install it. This kid that installed the shower learned that he needed to seal the flange to ensure a good seal and no leaks. But that in itself is what caused our dissatisfaction.

The tub did not suit me because I needed help to get in and out, and Safe Step can't help getting in and out in the tub. You have to be able to do it yourself. And I couldn't. And then Safe Step said they did the shower. I liked that the way everything in the tub was set up was different. It was more expensive than the cheapest of the other people, but I liked how you turn the faucets on and off and how close they were to me, and the seat. I liked everything about it, so we decided to go with it.
The man that installed the tub was so good. He took everything out. I wanted to make sure that there were arms on the chair that was being installed and a few different things, and if it was high enough for my husband's wheelchair to back into it and not fall over. The man answered every one of my questions and showed me. He unwrapped the thing to make sure that it was what I wanted before he put it in. The faucet and stuff that Safe Step installed were so much superior to what others were going to put in that I don't use the up-above shower at all. It's there, but I can't stand long enough to do it. But the handheld one, I love it.
The only problem that we have with the tub is that it wasn't put in level. And if the water accumulates behind where you sit down, under the seat, it eventually evaporates. But I'm the only one using that shower, so it's not too bad. But I called Safe Step on it. They never came back. They never answered us. I've been waiting for a call on what they are gonna do about it. I don't want them to take it all apart again, but there must be something that they could do because it just is a bit crooked. Though the guy that came and looked said it's probably about a 16th to a 32nd of an inch off in the way it's level to drain. It doesn't go down to the drain properly. Other than that, I would recommend it. I hope Safe Step gets a lot of business because it's so easy to use. Everything was fine and the installer people were wonderful. That one was the one that installed the walk-in tub. The only thing was I didn't get the stool. I wasn't pleased because the stool was exactly what I bought the shower for. The boy called the salesman up and he said they were getting that taken care of. I talked to a guy about some of these issues that came up. It turned out that somebody on their part didn't check the order of the parts that were supposed to come here.
I also talked to a lady and she got a little aggravated. I put out $10,000 and when I buy something, I expect to get what I paid for. The lady didn't get out of the way but she said, "Just tell them to stop work." I have a bathroom and a half in this house so I don't have an extra shower. I told her and the guy "No, we ain't doing that because I don't have anywhere to take a shower. They've got all this torn out, so what am I going to do in the meantime?" I can't go rent a motel room every time I needed to take a bath. I was gonna have to go with what I got. They knocked off about $500 after I called the lady.
After the installers left, there was a leak. The crew came back once and they thought they fixed the leak but they didn't. It started leaking again. Safe Step was the first to respond. They were the first one to come in and give their pitch. After speaking with their representative, we decided to go with them based on their representative’s pitch as well as his personality, demeanor, understanding of what the issue was and what our concerns were, especially when it came to the monetary cost. He went over everything in great detail. Before he left, we said, “Yes, let's do this.”
The installation guy told us what was going on step-by-step and what he was planning on doing. At the end of the day, he briefed us on where he's at, where he needs to be by the next day, and we would coordinate the times he would show up. He showed up, finished the work and then, also while he was putting it in, he fixed one of the holes in the drywall, which my wife can do. But he said since he had material left over, he would use that to help patch up at least one of the walls, which he did. So, we were very pleased. He was very informative. Put it over closer to the wall," but he just left it like this. I have called and called and I can't get anybody to come out here and see about it. They sent some man out and when I was trying to explain, he walked out. Safe Step won't answer the phone and they just put a recording on. I'm very displeased with them. They didn't do one good job.

The shower came out good but the lid is too low and water falls over when my wife showers. I'm not satisfied. I've called and let them know that if they could put an inch more on the surface, that'll keep the water in. Also, I saw in the AARP that Safe Step has a discount in AARP, which we are members of, so we wanted to know if we get that credit. I spoke to a lady but she hung up on me.

He knew everything that he should have known. Then, he looked through the house, because he thought they were gonna have to go under the house or through the attic. He was quite knowledgeable.
On the installation day, there were two young men. They looked where they were going to have to take the tub out and if they would be able to get the tub out of the door. They were excellent young men. They wasted no time. Within three hours, they were finished and ready to go. Since the installation, it has made me wanna shower more often. What I don't like is the water coming out under the door every time I take a shower. The glass is cut a little bit too short and it's not coming all the way down to the floor that's why it's leaking. I called and the guy said that they will send somebody out one day this week. I called the sales rep and he hadn't gotten back to me. He sent a $500 card, but it couldn't be cashed at my bank. On the other hand, my interaction with the installers was fine, even with my dog, and she's a pit bull. I trust a dog's judge of character more than I do my own some days. We let somebody in the house one time and our dog happened to be outside. She tried to come through the door to get in, and I asked him to leave. This time, my dog barked at the installers, and then that was the end. They just kept running in and out and doing what they needed to do.
We got a water saver shower and we know that this is just the way it is, but we don't like the amount of water flow. Still, the ability to get in the shower, feel like it's roomier and safer and the ability to get out of the shower is so much better than a regular tub, which is what we had prior to it. After about six weeks, finally, I'm satisfied with my Safe Step walk-in shower. I ordered one of the newer models that had a shelf corner piece. I also ordered a 36-inch pan. The installers came out, took everything out then put everything back in. The young man said, "They sent a 32-inch pan. Unfortunately, I've taken everything out of your shower. I gotta order another one." I asked how long would that take and he said a week. It would be a week without a shower.
We called and they said they'd come back out. They did and worked maybe two hours. One of the employees cut his finger and had to be taken to the emergency room. The other young man that didn't get hurt came back and worked till 6 o'clock at night. He was dragging and he still didn't get it in. He came back on Thursday by himself then his brother showed up with a broken leg. They worked until about 5 o'clock that day. They were satisfied with their job and left.
I looked and at the top, it was not sealed properly. The corner shelf comes in a 92-inch piece and they cut it at the top to fit. They cut the molding part off so it didn't have any mold to it. It was open and you can't have it unsealed at the top. Moisture is gonna get down in there. I called and let somebody know. Somebody came out here and decided they were gonna seal it but that didn't work. The guy called the manufacturer and the manufacturer said to cut that one off above the bottom shelf. They ordered me another one and he left.
A week later, he called me and said he's got the part and he was coming out. He put it up there and it was half an inch short. I told him to get rid of the shelving so he ordered a piece that’s non-shelving. Plus, because he had to take that corner piece down too many times, we got blemishes everywhere on panels. He had to order a side panel and yesterday, he finally did all of that. He got the corner piece in there right and got everything sealed. The installers had been great but this was the first time they had put in that corner piece and they hadn't taken that into consideration the measurement.

The installation wasn't good in the beginning because it was left for me to figure out how a bath shower should have been installed. The first installer was not good at all because it's like I received the revelation knowledge of what was wrong with it. I kept looking and trying to check what was wrong only to find out in the middle of the night the installation was not complete. They left the whole top where you had to put in a second wall against the existing wall open.
They took up the floorboard edging around the tub where it used to be and put it back. There was about a three-inch space open there. I had to call them and tell them I was very dissatisfied because that cost me a lot of money. I gave them cash and that was the kind of service I got. When they said custom-made, I thought they were going to design the stuff to fit around the window but it seemed they didn't understand how to customize it and how to make it waterproof around my window. I told them, "You should never go in anybody's house and do a half done job. If you don't know it, you should refuse to do the job before you come in the house and take my hard-earned money." I wanted something good that I could use for the rest of my old age that was why I started out with getting qualified contractors through AARP and the contact with Safe Step, but that was not it.
The guy finally came back the following week in the evening. There were a couple of other things that I noticed that I hadn't noticed before. At the bottom where the drain was in the back edge of the shower, it wasn't even. He put strips across the top and the bottom to fill that off. But he was charging his tools in the outlet on there and every electric circuit in there is out now and I got that expense to deal with.
The Safe Step walk-in shower is a little nice and the features look good. It was a little steep but it's something I needed. But I did not like when I had to go behind them and tell them what they did or didn't do. They walked out of here acting like they were finished. The bathroom turned out to be better than what it was but it took me through a lot of emotion and they're gonna take a while to heal. I was really upset.

The walk-in shower has been helpful. However, my sister can't do like I thought she could do 'cause she can't hold the shower wand and shower herself without squirting water everywhere. We are enjoying our walk-in shower very much, particularly me. I'm in a wheelchair and it makes it very nice to get in. And it just worked out nicely. I like the access to it. I could get out of my wheelchair onto the bench to take a shower, and be in and out of it without getting all shaken about falling.

I'm at the age where I need something like a walk-in shower and the one I got from Safe Step has been very nice. My experience with their sales rep and installers was really good. They did the installation in one day and I was very pleased. Both the workers were very good. I'll make them to come out again to put a door on that shower, but I'm going to pay this off a little bit before I do. I like that the showerhead is so flexible and I like the big seat that I have to sit on. I can still get in and out of my other tub, but I like the fact that when I get a little older, I can just walk in to the shower.

I have some leg issues so I needed to have that short clearance to be able to step in and out of the tub without having to lift my leg too much. I was looking at walk-in tubs and unfortunately, the walk-in tubs did not provide enough leg room so that meant a shower was the next option. I went with Safe Step because I liked their price better than the other ones. I have to give the guys for the installation credit. They knew what they were doing and they we were even out here yesterday fixing one of the grab bars that loosened up slightly. It took them maybe 5 or 10 minutes at the most to fix it. I have no complaints about their ability to properly install it because I sat and watched them. So far, so good. The shower is what I expected.

The salesman did a great job. The installation team came and did everything in one day, and it worked out great. We're very happy with it. It's a good thing for my husband. We got it so he can get in and out and able to sit down in the shower. It's been a blessing to us. But it's very expensive even though you get extra stuff in it and that's one thing I wasn't aware of.

The Safe Step installers took about a day and they were out of here. They did a good job. I like the shower. My favorite feature is the water falling on me.

Safe Step's installers did a great job and cleaned up behind them. With my new tub, I like that I'm able to sit down in it rather than stand up or sit in a stool in the shower. This is the best of the best. I love it.

I’m sort of crippled right now and I couldn’t get in the bathtub to take a bath. When I saw the ad I called to see what was going on, and I bought the Safe Step that day. Their installers did a good job. I had particularly liked that rain one that comes down over your head. However, I had just bought a bathroom grab bars all over the house and I had a long one just under the window in that shower all along the wall, and I told the installer, “I'd like to keep that one,” but he said he'll give me a new one. I said I’d like to keep it for my son but I haven’t seen it. Another thing is I thought we had a leak in it last week, but it was just the way we were closing the doors. Other than that, I really am happy with it. It was good money spent.

The sales representative was friendly but the installation, which took a day, was terrible. He was supposed to be there to supervise and to help me understand what was happening and he was way out of town. One installer was pretty decent but his helper wasn't a friendly type guy. I also don't like anything about the tub. I wanted a regular walk-in shower. My wife and caretaker thought that the walk-in tub would be best for me 'cause I've got Parkinson's disease. And so, she kind of hinted me in that direction and then, she stopped it. She said it was too small for the room. I told the man to go ahead and do it. I shouldn't have done that because he didn't help me. He kind of forced me into buying it. My wife does not like the tub either.
We're trying to get rid of it. We've called the people at Safe Step, telling them to come and get it out, and they wouldn't come and get it. They finally send a man over from Safe Step Tubs. He was gonna take this out and put in a regular shower. He's supposed to be doing that. Safe Step didn't do what they say they were gonna do and they didn't return their phone calls. I've even tried to call the president of that company and she said she'd have him call me back, but he never called me back either.

After I built the house, I put down Luan and then I put tile down and that raised the floor up a little bit higher. When Safe Step took the old tub out, they didn't build up the floor, like with plywood, to make it even with the tile floor. And I wish they had done that. I asked how big is the lip that you step into and they said it would be three inches, but where the tub is not up to the height of the tile. It only gives me about an inch lip, where I'm supposed to step in and to keep the water from splashing back out. I had to be very particular about the shower curtain being in the right place and all that kinda stuff so it doesn’t get on the floor.
Also, the rain showerhead has a gooseneck to it that comes over. I wish that could’ve been a straight-out and not have that big hump in it. Other than those, there are no leaks and stuff and I'm satisfied with that part. Also, the installers were very friendly. They cleaned up their mess real good. There are a couple of little things I wish could’ve been done differently, but I didn't want to stand there, look over his shoulder, and boss him because I know that can be aggravating. And I realize that those guys tried to get in and out in a day’s time because they were booked to go some place else the next day. If they took the time to go on the loose or some lumber company and got the extra plywood to build the floor up, it would probably took a couple more hours.

We first ordered the tub, but when it came and arrived, my wife couldn’t close the door on it while sitting in it. She has restricted mobility. So, we sent that back and took the shower situation so that we’d have the open shower and that was put in. The installers did a good job. The shower looks very nice and it keeps my wife happy.

Safe Step Walk in Tub/Shower misrepresents the services and products regarding shower installation. When purchased, salesman said Safe Step manufactures, installs, and maintains their product. They do NOT. An area plumber is subcontracted to install. When I informed Safe Step representative that having a random plumber install is not the same as Safe Step installing it I was told Safe Step pays the plumbing company to install the product and subcontracting is common in construction work. I then asked if the plumbing company’s only employment is installing their product and they don’t do any other work. Representative said she can’t say that.
If the subcontractor does other work then they do not have the same vested interest as a Safe Step employee. Not installing Safe Step products might cause some financial loss but not unemployment or loss of company benefits. The Safe Step company does not install their product! The standard installation package includes a rain shower head. We specifically told the salesman we don’t like those and want a regular shower head. We would not have purchased this or signed a contract if told it wasn’t provided. However, the salesman said no problem and wrote our request for a regular shower head in contract notes. Contract signed in October 2019. Work didn’t start until 12/4/2019.
Contractor tore out shower on 12/4, gutting half the bathroom. Work delayed 6 days while I had a separate plumber move a water pipe in the way of Safe Step install. Safe Step contractor arrived for second day of work. On arrival I asked he check to see if regular shower head had been included. It wasn’t. Contractor immediately walked off the job doing no other work. Construction stopped while plumbing company contacted Safe Step.
I was told by Safe Step representative they don’t have an option for a regular shower head. Safe Step approved contractor go to a local Lowes and buy a showerhead. Safe Step representative could not explain why salesperson would say regular shower head was available. Perhaps salesman wanted to make a $10,000.00 sale rather than lose it over a $30.00 item? Doesn’t anyone at the company review contracts? Why didn’t someone at the company contact me prior to any construction to say they don’t offer regular showerheads?
Salesman said Safe Step product has lifetime warranty. Received warranty on completion. The shower walls are just 3/8 inch thick sheets of acrylic material glued to drywall. Only the acrylic material and shower pan have a lifetime warranty to not split or crack. Warranty is voided unless the shower is cleaned monthly. Bet they use that excuse to void warranties. Prove it was cleaned every month. The built-in fold up chair, THE main component of the shower package, has only a 2 year warranty for defects. Installation, caulking, and “other shower components” also have only a 2 year defect warranty.
Salesman said work installation would be 2-4 days. Old shower was torn out on 12/4/2019, but new install was not completed until 12/29/2019. Contractor was there a total of 4 days. Delays caused by contractor failing to show up for 3 appointments. A different excuse used each time. Another delay caused because of earlier issue with shower head. Of the 4 days contractor was there, on 2 days he arrived almost 3 hours late. Safe Step also doesn't cover any work to finish area around the install. Expect to pay a couple hundred more on that!

I like that the rep of Safe Step was low-key. I had salespeople from two other places, and one was very pushy, nervous and seemed really desperate. Other one was fantastic in terms of the presentation was very slick and nice and she had all of the correct information, but l like the low-key attitude. I was dreading the installation though. I thought it was gonna take a couple of days. I didn't know how they were gonna do it in a day, but they did. They were courteous and they couldn't have been nicer. The nicest feature of the Safe Step was the two kinds of showers. I like that you can go from one to the other or just stick with one. I also like the adjustable part, the one with a long hose. The showerhead itself has five different adjustments as well and I wasn't expecting that. I also feel safer with it because there's plenty of room. If my husband's aide needs help or he is struggling in any kind of way, she's right there. She can get in, get up, and it's easier.

Safe Step did a very good job of installing our new step-in shower and I’m delighted with it. Everything, so far, has been difficult in the installation. We’re unique and we have the first floor of a condo. And the bathroom above us had a problem with the line for their heater and defroster that came right down under our tub. And the day before Thanksgiving, they found that they couldn’t proceed without us getting an electrician in here and getting Freon emptied out, and it was very complicated. We got that done. They had to come back a second time and do the complete installation, which they did. The doors from the get-go were delivered damaged, not to us, but to our local storeroom, and they had to wait for those doors. So, we had a temporary shower curtain put up. And so, the third time they came back, I was in the hospital, but my husband said they put in the doors.
At this point, all of that technical stuff is done. But the shower head is not powerful enough. We’ve asked our technician to find out whether there is another one that has the holes a little bit more spread out. So, we’re in like process. But I’m not complaining. The men were wonderful. They were training one new man. I couldn’t believe in my little bathroom I had four men. One guy was tearing out the little pieces of tub. They protected everything beautifully, and they were very professional. They were very disappointed that they couldn’t do it right away, and I know they would have if they had had no complications like we had. But everything was resolved. We have a non-skid flooring, and it’s perfect. I’m so confident. We’ve got the seat that goes up and down, and that’s wonderful. Everything is all set.
Now, my husband had put down $8,000 and it needed to be done in 2019, and they’re researching us now with the home office. Somebody screwed up and they put it in on 2020, and this is gonna mess us up as seniors for the deduction and the medical part of it because my surgery was done in 2019. So, the financial part of it is still unsettled. That was $8,000 out of our pocket. This is unacceptable. So, they were checking with the home office as to who messed up on this.

I had Safe Step put in a walk-in shower and everybody's in love with it. The Safe Step rep talked to me, and he showed me the demonstrations of the tub, how they would do it and how they would order it, but I told them no one here took baths. Everybody here took showers. And with my age, it is easier for me to just take a shower than to get in a tub because I have had two back surgeries. With the shower with two showerheads, I could have the second showerhead go and get on my back where I had the surgery because when it gets cold, I have a lot of pain in the lower part of my back. Also, being in the tub like a sauna bath, it takes some of the breath out of me.
The Safe Step salesperson was very professional, and after we looked at the family here thinking about the tub, he listened to what I wanted and then he went in the bathroom and looked. Then he said, "Really, we could do that." And the guy that installed it was with his wife, and they weren't here but a day. To them, it was a day. It was eight hours. To me, I worked 12 hours shifts, so that wasn't the whole day to me. They put mat cloths down where the fiberglass stuff wouldn't get on the floor, on the carpet, and then they cleaned up after themselves. They cleaned up the driveway, and they put everything in place. And then he told me it had to be at least 24 hours before we could use the shower so that everything would set up, and we did just as they asked.

I heard about Safe Step either through American Leisure or the VF magazine, and I got the shower instead of the walk-in tub because of my age. I had it placed where my tub was and the interaction with the installation team was great. The shower head comes out, goes up, goes over, and comes down with a flat head on it. I’m getting used to it, but it’s not like the ones I had before. I might go with another one if I knew that they had any other one.
Hi John, thank you for letting us know that you enjoy your tub! We're so happy to hear it, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-989-5101. Enjoy!

We agreed to a Safe Step walk in SHOWER from this company. As many salesman do, they promised high quality, quick install and misleading construction info. 10 weeks later they are finally finished. Floor pan is only high quality piece installed, and to their credit, seems very good design. The rest is very basic, Home Depot supplied material. Overall experience is very disappointing per the total cost we paid. My advice is to either do it yourself, or find a local contractor.
