Sean **and Cully ** arrived on time and did a great job. They worked well together and finished both the installation of the Safe step walk in tub and the ADA compliant toilet in a timely manner. When they finished the install they cleaned up and left no mess in the house.

The installation team called ahead to notify me of their arrival time. They were polite, friendly, quiet and professional. The team leader made sure I understood the features of the tub, how they were to be used and how to properly clean it. My initial anxiety regarding installation was gone as soon as I saw them working as an organized team. When done, all 3 team members showed me the tub and the work they did, and asked if I was satisfied with the installation. They also tried to refuse a tip until I insisted. It actually was a pleasure!
Thank you, Ilene! We're so glad to hear that your installation experience was smooth and efficient. It’s great that our technician provided helpful tips to ensure that you feel supported and confident in using their Safe Step tub. We truly appreciate your kind words and will be sure to share your feedback with our team.

The technician that came out was very knowledgeable but Safe Step as a company it sucks. I have no more to said. This company praise on elderly people. I’ve had nothing for problems with my tub since I got it. My husband can’t even use it because the water doesn’t get hot. Stay hot because I have the 50 gallon water heater and for some reason it won’t stay hot. Company never answers me back.

We chose a Safe Step Walk-In Shower because of it being safer for me as a totally blind person & needing grab bars for stability. The salesman came out on 5/1/2025 & was very informative of the features available for the walk-in showers & gave us a quote. We also chose Safe Step because we like their product & thought that it would fit our needs. A decision had to be made hurriedly and was supposed to be installed in about 2 weeks which turned into 10 weeks.
We realized right after the salesman left that the measurement he came up with would not fit our bathroom; so, we called him immediately to make a change in the size. A deposit had been made while the salesman was in our home. The salesman told us that all their walk-in showers were custom made and the change in size would not affect the price. After our contract was accepted by Safe Step & was sent to scheduling, we were told that since we had to have a custom size it takes longer and they set our installation for 10 weeks out.
When the contractors finally came after 10 weeks to install the walk-in shower, they forgot one of the grab bars and said that they would bring it later. The contractors arrived at our home the day of the installation at 11AM & were finished if you want to call it finished at 3PM. My husband was asked to please turn off the water to our home so they could connect the water lines for the walk-in shower. The main contractor sawed for a while with the door closed and we let him work alone.
Later the main contractor asked my husband to please turn the water back on. After turning the water back on, my husband went into bathroom to make sure that the water was not leaking anywhere. The contractor had already put up the sheet rock wall at the end of the shower. My husband asked the contractor how will we know if there is a water leak and he said that we would not know unless we hear it spraying in the wall later or we see water in the floor. The contractor told him that he installed water shut offs on each water line.
My husband cut an access area and made an entrance area to be able to check on water lines in the future. We have never had anyone to say or do anything so stupid from a company that has such a superior product and sure never would have done something stupid like this ourselves! Our contract included a free comfort height toilet & it was installed & our old one disposed of by one of the contractors. My husband just happened to notice as he walked by that something was wrong with it. The contractor had installed the toilet, but the lid had gotten broken for the toilet tank in the process. Instead of suggesting that they could bring another one later they installed it and just put the old tank lid on it off our old toilet.
The old lid was wrong size & wrong color. My husband asked them what they were going to do about it & they just said oh it got broken. He asked how we will get a replacement for it and they said maybe they can bring one back to us later. It should never have been installed in the first place and they should have waited to install it later when they had a complete toilet. My husband asked the main contractor when they finished about the drain because it did not look right. The contractor never answered him and just hum haed around about the answer. My husband noticed before the contractors left our home the day of the installation that there was a large bulge on the back wall of the shower.
We did the demo except the removal of the walls of the bathroom ourselves in order to paint ceiling over shower prior to installation. The contractors came into our home with a clean open area to install walk-in shower. They never removed the walls as we were told in the beginning. We were told by the salesman that they would install green board over our studs after removing the walls of the bathroom. They never removed the walls and just installed over the existing walls. My husband tried to get him to remove the wall and make it right while the glue & caulk was still wet the day it was installed and he refused to do this. He said that it is okay. It most certainly was not okay and we had to pay the balance of our contract before they left on the installation day without a shower yet. We took photos of it and sent it to Safe Step. We were advised that it has a life time warranty and they will make it right.
The main contractor had to come back a couple days later to bring back the grab bar he had forgotten to bring. We advised him that the wall will have to be replaced. The contractor had brought some screws & a piece of trim to put in the center of the back wall of the shower. We would not allow him to put a screw into the wall because Something was wrong with the installation of the wall to begin with. Safe Step informed the contractor that that the wall would have to be taken down and made right & if it would not come down without messing it up then it would have to be ordered again & replaced. He tried to remove it and broke the corner shelf in 3 pieces. He was going to caulk & put it back up and we would not allow him to do this.
We advised Safe Step that it would be fine to wait on new wall & corner pieces to be ordered and then reinstall the shower. After tearing down part of back wall the issue was found. There was a difference of 3/8-inch depth between green board placed at top & bottom of wall & plywood in center. There was no way the wall would not have a bulge in it because it did not have a flat surface to lay against to be glued to. We took photos & sent them to Safe Step.
After the contractor left, we looked and he had brought the wrong color grab bar. We contacted him to bring the correct color when he comes back. The contractor came back the next day with 2 more sets of back walls & 2 sets of the corner pieces in case he messed one of them up to replace back wall. Looked like we were finally going to be able to have our walk-in shower. The grab bar that the contractor had forgotten the first installation did not fit because he did not put the water line in the right place for it to fit like it was supposed to fit. We had him to install it upside down and go ahead due to all the issues with his workmanship from the beginning. We waited 36 hours before using the shower for the first time. The shower had a water leak where the water line came through the wall into the shower.
We stopped using the shower until water leak could be fixed. This was done on a Saturday. The following Monday, my husband decided to go under our home and check the drain system and make sure there was not a leak since the drain did not look correct. When the insulation was cut under our home by him water poured out of the insulation. He knew that something was wrong. He cut it a little farther and the drain pipe fell out & hit the ground. He had asked about a p-trap & this was what the contractor would not give him an answer about the first day of installation. A P-Trap is a necessity to prevent odor from coming into house. While checking under house, a large chunk of our floor joist fell out and also hit the ground. The contractor had cut through our floor joist that supported the shower area. He had also cut out the sub floor under shower base. We basically had no support in the shower area except for the base itself.
Safe Step sent out another group of contractors to repair the structural integrity of our home. Needless to say, this has been a nightmare to say the least. After 18 weeks & numerous trips made by Safe Step to bring toilet tank lids & tank which were wrong color & wrong size, we finally ordered our own toilet tank lid. Safe Step finally agreed to pay invoice for toilet tank lid which we purchased ourselves. They would not listen when I told them brand of toilet and this is why they could never get correct lid or tank for toilet. The contractors which were plumbers came at least 4 times to bring different lids & tank and should have checked this while at our home. It took a blind person to get to the bottom of the issue and correct it.
I would advise anyone wishing to get a walk-in shower to stay close by and have someone to watch their every move to ensure that they are not destroying your home. Thank goodness we had a crawl space that we could check this out for ourselves because if done on a concrete floor I would not trust them to do the drain system correctly and then your walls would be destroyed before you would know about the leak it causes when not glued at all which is pretty ignorant for a professional plumber.

SafeStep's sales rep did a really good presentation. He showed me pictures and there was stuff there that my wife and myself liked. We bought a walk-in shower and the installers did a good job. At first, I wasn't going to get shower doors. Then once I changed my mind and I wanted to add shower doors about a couple of weeks down the road, when the panels came in, they were short. So, they had to reorder the panels and it took three days to get them. But that was on me. We also had to move the drain and they did that. They did everything we asked for. I love the way the shower came out. In fact, it came out just like their sales rep said it was going to come out. We bought it for my wife because she’s having back problems and it makes it easy step for her. She loves it. It was a little pricey, but you could see by the way the work was done and the shower itself that it was pretty neat.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Victor! We’re glad to hear that the sales presentation gave you a clear picture of what to expect and that the installation team delivered just that. It’s wonderful that the shower is making things easier for your wife and that you’re both happy with how it turned out. We also appreciate your patience with the shower door adjustment—it sounds like everything came together nicely in the end. The sales visit was amazing. The guy was awesome, he was a really good guy. He was very professional and answered all my questions. They did a really good job on installation day, tore out my old stuff and put all the new stuff in, but couldn't finish that same day cause my doors aren't here yet. I haven't used the shower yet because I’m waiting for the shower doors to come in, but I like it so far. Safe Step is a good way to go, trusted company and they do a great job.
Hi John, thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that your sales visit and installation experience were both positive and that our team delivered with professionalism and care. I'm getting older, and I can't afford to go to a nursing home. And I saw Safe Step on Facebook. The sales visit was good. The only thing I have a problem with is that I think it's excessively priced. But I don't know what it would cost at another place. I assumed they were all about the same.
The installation was good as well. The guy was very, very good. He did a nice job, except I do have a problem that I want them to come back and look at. It’s about a piece of rubber molding. He had stretched it to make a barrier on the bottom so the water wasn't coming out on where the shower curtain is. That piece of rubber he put down pulled away from the wall. And there's about a ¾-inch gap. So, I put caulk in it to keep the water from going out on the floor. And it helps, but there is still a small puddle a lot of times that comes out of the tray on the bottom. It's not bad but just a small puddle. But I would like him to come back and put a new molding there, ‘cause as much money as I spent, I shouldn't have to caulk anything there.
Other than that, the quality is very nice. Taking a shower is now a lot easier for me ‘cause I have the overhead rain shower and then I have the wand sprayer that is in the shower. That works well. So, I think I'll probably be able to get by with staying in my house because I've got it now to where I don't have to really worry about taking a shower or something like that ‘cause I have the facilities myself.
Hi Dennis, thank you so much for sharing your experience. We're glad to hear your new Safe Step walk-in shower has made bathing easier and more enjoyable, and that you're feeling confident staying in your home safely.
We're sorry to hear about the issue with the rubber molding and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. I saw something about a walk-in shower on Facebook, then I got calls from lots of different companies. Safe Step scheduled first to come and give me an estimate. So, they were the one I went with. The man who came out was very nice and knowledgeable. For the installation, there was a surprise for the guy who took out the tub and the brick outside of the house. They had not put down drywall, so he had to put 2 x 4s back there. He also put studs and drywall back there before he could install the shower. He was a wonderful guy and he did a great job. None of us thought that there wasn't a drywall and that it was just the outside brick that was there. He also had to make several adjustments because we weren't able to get one thing we had ordered as it required more of the depth than we had. He had an alternative for us that we loved, so we took that. Overall, it was a good experience. My son uses the walk-in shower and he loves it.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Safe Step! We’re glad our Facebook ad caught your attention and that our team stood out from the start. It's great to hear our representative left such a strong impression, and we're especially proud of how our installer handled the unexpected situation behind the old tub. Problem-solving and professionalism are exactly what we strive for, and we’re thrilled the alternative solution ended up being a hit! We're so happy your son is enjoying the new walk-in shower, it means a lot to know it’s making a difference in your home.

The installation team impressed me. They came in and they kind of just adhere to doing the project. And when they interacted with me, they were nice and friendly and calm, explaining everything, and cleaned up after themselves. So far, I like my walk-in shower. We're just having a little trouble with the sliding door and the water, it might have been leaking. But the person who put it in, Stacey, he came back and made the repairs. It wasn't really much to repair, but he came out within 72 hours.
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review! We're so glad to hear that your experience with our team, from the initial walkthrough to the installation, was professional, reassuring, and respectful. We especially appreciate you highlighting Stacey’s prompt follow-up and commitment to making things right. When my mom found Safe Step in a newspaper article, we contacted them and they gave us a consultation. Their prices were better than the other people we had spoken with. The person was very personable and friendly. They explained everything in detail, so it was nice. They have a tablet and he even had samples of the material. The samples were exactly like what we had installed, so it was the real material. The installer, Chad, was nice as well. Everyone I've spoken with was very friendly.
When I saw what they did the first time after installation, I thought they did an excellent job. The shower has been used and they love it. However, I don't like the terms of how long you pay it off, but as far as price-wise, it was comparable with everybody else. I got it because I needed it for my mom. AlI in all, I would recommend them, and I have also given somebody their information so they can contact them.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Safe Step! We're thrilled to hear that your mom found us through a newspaper article and that everything from the consultation to the installation met your expectations. When Safe Step was introduced on the internet, the advertisement showed that it was about a two-week process of getting one put in, but it was 16 weeks. I had already paid the deposit, and there was no way I was gonna be able to get out of it. My mother slipped and fell and broke her hip, and I was trying to get it installed before she came home from the hospital/rehab facility. So, she was home about a month before they actually came and put it in. She was out six to eight weeks. She was in the hospital and then moved straight to a rehab. I didn't have any idea how much the products cost because I've never inquired. All I've heard by word of mouth are the different systems, and how good it would be. So, I googled it, found it, read some reviews, and within a day or two, I was sitting down. That was the quickest because I felt like they just wanted a contract signed. Then after that, I was stuck.
When the rep sold me the system, we picked out everything we wanted and what was included in the system, and I had requested handrails in other locations other than what they normally do. Another incentive was to change out their commode and input more of a higher commode, and they installed a handrail right next to the commode, which was fine. I'm glad that they brought it up because that was something that needed to be done.
One thing that was such a sour taste in our mouths was they gave me a date, which surpassed the date, and then we rescheduled it for another day, whatever time that was a week later, and they never called one time to confirm. They gave me a date of installation, which I wrote down and told my mom. I own a construction company. When we are supposed to be at somebody's house, we send a reminder. They just showed up at the house five weeks later at 7:30, and I had told my mom, “This date is still a confirmed date, but I've not spoke to them. I felt like they would follow up, and they did not.”
When they got to the house, my mom was asleep still. I live next door, so I ran down there, and I was like, “Y'all should have at least called to confirm this.” So, that was a debacle that day. We had to reschedule it again, which was two weeks later, and the head of construction did reach out and confirmed the day before, and everything was good as far as installation. They didn't get it done in a day. They had to come back a second day, which wasn't a big deal to me, but that's one of the things. When they were selling, they should have said, “We'll be in and out of your home, and it'll be installed by nighttime.”
I ordered two extra handrails. I wanted one on the side wall next to the door, and they didn't come prepared to put it in. So, I called the man that has these crews and I said, “Don, I'd like two more, ‘cause I wanted to put a second one on the other side of the commode, lower." We wanted them to match. We didn't want to just go buy some at the local hardware and put them in. He said, “Okay, I'll order them and send them to you.” I said, “I have a maintenance guy that works for me, ‘cause I have some rent houses, and he could have put them in.” Don said, “No, let us put them in because it messes up your warranty if somebody else put in.” So, I still, to this day, have not gotten them.
There's no complaints about the shower. I just have one complaint about the floor. They have that built-in gritty stuff that helps from falling. So, I called Don about a week later to add some, and he said, “If I put anything on the floor, the warranty will be void.” So, I'm scared to put the regular plastic stuff that most people put in that kind of got the cushions on the bottom. They had one in their shower, but I was worried that they would trip on that going in if it wasn't completely down. So, they just have to be careful. It's a shower, it's going to get soapy, and it’s gonna get slippery, but the bottom base of that shower, to me, is not as tough or rough as it should have been for people.
Thank you for taking the time to share your honest experience, Darla. First, we’re truly sorry for the delays and lack of communication around your installation. We’re glad to hear the shower itself is working well and that the added safety features near the commode were helpful, but we also hear your frustration about the limitations around floor safety enhancements. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we will use to improve our processes and product. We have made management aware of your missing handrails.

When I finally used the Safe Step walk‑in shower, I realized the hot and cold were switched. If I turned on the cold, I got hot water, and if I turned on the hot, I got cold water. She was supposed to put in a work order and said someone would come within seven days. It’s been over two weeks now.
That was on June 19th when I called to get this sorted out. Since then, no one has reached out to me. The customer service was great, except the last time. I didn’t like that experience.

The independent contractor who installed the Safe Step shower did not tighten the plumbing. On the day it was installed, it looked beautiful and we thought he had done a great job just by looking at the shower when it was put in place. The caulking looked pretty decent. He told us to give it 48 hours for the caulking to dry, so we did. We even gave it about a week and a half because we had a guest bathroom shower and wanted to make sure it was going to be a good deal.
We live in a mobile home and have a 5,000-gallon water tank. When we use water in the home, like flushing the commode or using the sink, the pump sound goes off. In the middle of the night I told my husband, “Look. Listen. Don’t you hear the water pump going on?” That’s when we knew something was wrong. The water was scalding hot coming out of the faucet. My husband and his work helper went under the house and they found a flood. The installer had not tightened the plumbing.
That’s when we realized the water had been leaking under the house for a length of time. We called the contractor and he sent someone out the very next day to repair the leak, but that was after we didn’t even realize it had been leaking.
The day he left after installing the shower, we didn’t get a business card and he never said that if there were any problems we could give him a call. Nothing. The renovation company that our homeowners insurance got ahold of hired people to come and clean up the flood. In the process, they had to take out insulation and took the shower apart. When I walked into the bathroom, there was a bubble and the floor was raised on the linoleum. I even thought I was losing my balance. When the shower was taken apart, we could see where the acrylic panels were just glued to the wall. And for what we paid, I’m sorry, but they took us to the cleaners.
We have tried calling Safe Step about the plumbing issue, but they haven’t gotten back to us. Nobody has called us back or offered anything to help resolve the problem. We signed with them, so they should be the ones dealing with the subcontractor who installed the shower. Instead, the company they hired has cost us more money. It’s been a nightmare, and because of this experience we would not recommend Safe Step.

My experience with Safe Step was less than satisfactory. I’m 83 years old with 70 years of experience being handicapped. I know what I need, but they did not listen. In retrospect, I probably should have known that it would be unsatisfactory, because it was difficult.
The salesperson who responded to my inquiry did not communicate well. I told him I was waiting for another quote from someone else, so he got irritated and said that he needed to know in 48 hours. The other person did get back to me, but I went with Safe Step because the quotes were so close.
The installation was put off so long, so I was not pleased. I put a down payment, and it didn’t get back to me until after the new year. The contractor set a date, but I didn’t hear from him. I had to get back through the original salesperson to reset it because I did not have a name or a number.
They had a prefab setup. They put in large-sized grab bars even though I told them I needed smaller-sized ones. Because my hands are small, I cannot even grab them. Also, I needed to have no step up, and the plastic that rimmed the shower was not glued down.
They said they could do it in one day, but the workmanship was not what I would have expected of a quality company. There were loose ends everywhere, and they clearly were not gonna come back to finish the job. If I needed anything, I‘d have to go to the general number because they didn’t give me a number to call them back. My experience in doing that had been less than satisfactory to start with, so that’s a lost cause.
To use the shower, I had to hire someone to come in and put in a grab bar that fit my hand. He was able to finish up the area where the shower met the wall with caulking. I need an additional grab bar inside the shower, but I know that will be a challenge because this thing was not made for my space.
My bottom line is I was not happy at all. It was extraordinarily expensive for such a sloppy job. While I’m several months removed from this now, I was so furious at the time that I wouldn’t have been coherent if I called anyone and complained. To them, one grab bar is the same as another. It’s not, especially when you’re dealing with a shower where there’s water.

Safe Step makes it a lot easier getting in and out of the shower. I’m 88 years old, and I’m glad that I bought it so I have handles to hold on to. I can sit in my chair and move it to wherever I want it. The salesperson who came out was very nice and knowledgeable. When the installers came, they put it in and did it in one day. The quality of their work is very good.

Price was the reason why I picked Safe Step to replace our tub with a shower. When the sales guy came, he was very nice. I couldn’t justify in my mind spending $15,000 to $17,000 for a plain Jane shower, so he offered a no-rain shower for under 12 grand. I showed him exactly what I wanted, and we went into the bathroom. After we agreed on some things, I got a call from him several days later. Overall, I’m satisfied with the shower. I just wish he would have asked me where I wanted the second showerhead holder.
They had to build out a wall, and I wanted that to be drywall. They brought the acrylic panels. When I saw that, I told them that’s not what we discussed. There was a bunch of going back and forth. Finally, they said they can do the drywall and I’d have to pay for it. They would send a separate guy. But I shouldn’t have to pay for it since my understanding was it was already agreed on. Anyway, I paid extra to have a drywall.
The guy who did the install seemed knowledgeable. He asked me where I wanted the grab bars but didn’t ask me where I wanted the head to be put. They didn’t have enough greenboard and put in some other board, and he was blaming the yard for shorting him. They dug up some of the slab because the drain had to come out further. I thought they were going to fill it in with something, but he said they wouldn’t. He just put the broken pieces back in around the pipe. About a month later, I had my termite people for the annual inspection, and I asked them if we’re going to have problems with that. They said they’ll wait and see. I’m not really happy with Safe Step because of that. But I told my brother in Colorado about my experience since he’s also thinking of getting a shower.

I have a special needs daughter, and she got to where she could not get in and out of the bathtub, so I got her the Safe Step walk-in shower. I like the shower, but they did a very sloppy job and I don't like that. They were supposed to put a shower door that opened from both ends. Instead, they put one that's stationary on one end, and that was not what I ordered. I called and complained about that, so they ordered a new shower door and installed it. When they were replacing it, they chipped the base of the shower, so they had to send somebody out to come and repair that. They also tried to patch the holes at the top to avoid having to replace the walls, and it looked like a kindergartener painted it, so they had to come back and replace the end walls. The caulking is wide, thick and uneven. It’s horrible. I could have done a better job. If I'm paying $18,000, it better look good, so I’m upset and every month I go to make a payment, it really makes me mad.

We got the shower from Safe Step. My husband uses it all the time.
They came to my home and presented for an hour, and it was great.
The installation took two days to complete, but I found a chip spot in the bottom of the shower, so I called to let them know about it. They were really nice. They asked for a picture, and when they received it, they said they were going to replace it.
Everything was replaced – the glass doors, the walls, the floor. The second time also took two days. They had finished in one day but were rushing near the end, and the caulking was not a good job. When I contacted them, an upper-level person came back and took all the caulking out and redid it.
I would definitely recommend them to a friend because they will fix anything that needs fixing. The only thing I wasn’t satisfied with was the price. I think we paid too much for what we got.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Ethel! We're glad to hear the presentation and installation process—despite the initial hiccup—was handled with care and professionalism. We appreciate your recognition of our team's responsiveness and dedication to making things right, from replacing materials to addressing finishing details like caulking. I saw Safe Step in the newspaper and on television, and I chose them. I didn’t check any other companies out, which is probably not a good move, but I’m not much of a shopper.
Interacting with their sales representative went very well. The installation of the shower was very good. I enjoyed the father-son duo. The shower helped my husband so much. He is so independent now. He can get in and out on his own. I don’t have to help him. And he just loves it. We both like it.

The main reason why we did Safe Step was that we had just downsized from an older 1825 Cape with a tub and, at our age, wanted a step-in shower with safety bars.
We had a nice conversation with Bob, a very personable fellow, who came by to present the materials. Everything went fine. He said he was going to come back to get a testimonial from me, but I haven't heard from him, so that was a little disappointing.
The installation experience was fine. The two gentlemen got here at 8:30 and were done by 3:00. They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional and straightforward. They even did a little bit extra and opened up the back wall for me so I can now access the shutoff valves for the shower. Before, it was all behind sheetrock.
I love the new shower, there's no question. I love the handles and the two corner shelves, which provide the space for everything we need. It makes life far easier. We don't have to worry about slipping and falling and stepping up over the edge of a bathtub.
I've already told some of the members of my retirement community about it, asking them if they’ve changed their tub to a step-in shower yet.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful review, Peter! Downsizing from a historic home is a big transition, and we’re honored that Safe Step could be part of making your new space both safer and more convenient. It’s wonderful to hear that our installation team delivered a smooth, professional experience from start to finish. It wasn't very good. I thought I was gonna get a better quality job done, the way the salesman talked. He said all the people that do the work are not contractors, they all work for Safe Step, and they go through vigorous training. A crew of four came to install and only one of them could speak English. They were supposed to take tile off the wall and put up solid walls, but they left the tile on the wall, filled it in to make the wall come out to the same level as the tile, and it wasn't. I could tell it was thicker where the tile was than it was at the other place. I tapped around on it, and it wasn't even glued down well. The ordinary person would not have known, but I worked in maintenance for 30 years and I built production lines and kept up the lines. The job looked good, but it's like buying a new car and the transmission, motor and frame are worthless. There was also a mix-up on payment, and they got it straightened out, but it was a mess. Another thing was they were supposed to tell me when they were going under the house, but they didn’t. I had put up Styrofoam insulation over the faucet, and they pulled all that out. I had a heat lamp under there and they blew the bulb in it. They messed up all that, just left it, and didn't tell me anything about it.
One of the main guys at Safe Step called me because I had put in a bad review on Better Business Bureau, and said he was the guy who’s supposed to settle things. He said he would call, but it's been three weeks and I haven’t heard from him.

I absolutely love my Safe Step shower. I like the fact that I can get in and out of the shower and not stump my toes. The guy that came up here and gave me his spiel sounded really good. The installers were super nice. They took all the old stuff out, put the new shower in, and put the shower rod up for me. They put it up too high, so I had to have my son bring it down a little bit. And once in a while, there's water outside my shower area because there are no grooves where the water would drain back into the pan at the bottom, it’s all flat.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful and detailed experience, Doris! We had a very good experience. Safe Step had good reviews and was quick to respond. The guy who came out and presented to us was excellent.
The installers were nice. That man and his son were pleasant, were in and out, and clean as a whistle. I will say that right before Christmas, I called the helpline they gave us because I noticed that it leaked into the downstairs bathroom a little bit, and I was impressed. The woman was very helpful. Ours is a log house, and it's harder to get into things because of the construction, but that guy came the next day on a Saturday and spent a couple of hours getting it all fixed.
Our walk-in shower is set up fine. It has a nozzle straight up in the air like rain coming down, a handheld wand and safety grab bars, including a round one on the end. There’s an inch or two of a step up.
We were actually looking for walk-in tubs for our downstairs but the upstairs bathroom needed to be fixed up first, so when the salesman got here, we bait and switched on him. I know that the walk-in shower was less expensive, but he wasn't upset – He segued right over and took care of that. We liked him, so we didn't have anybody else come. He wasn't a BS-er. He was smooth as silk and did a good job presenting it.
It's expensive, but if you look around, the cost is comparable to others. It was a little more than we expected, but we paid for what we got, so it was fine.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Joseph! It’s great that the walk-in shower is serving your needs well, with thoughtful features like the rain-style shower head and safety bars. We’re especially happy to hear our team responded quickly to the leak and resolved it efficiently, even during the holiday rush. A gentleman from Safe Step came out and his presentation was very cut and dry. He told us how much it would cost, what our options were and he was very good. He wasn’t the typical high-pressure salesman, which we liked. It was a little high, but mom wanted to go with Safe Step. The installers came on time, worked straight through, and were out the same day, so it was a quick install. It's got three walls and it has a handheld shower. It has shelves for shampoo, soap and stuff like that. Because my mom is in a wheelchair, we chose to go the shower curtain route, and we already had a swivel chair that stays in the shower.

AARP magazine had an article about Safe Step and I was impressed with it. I did some research and liked the design more.
The day it was installed, the installer arrived on time. He was very social and talked to us about the different aspects of the shower. He spent the first day tearing down the old stuff. There was lots of demolition and noise, and then he put the base plate where the drain goes. We had it sit overnight so the cement and sealing could set in place. The next day, the rest of the shower went smoothly. We were very comfortable with the installer and the process went well. When everything was finished, it looked exactly like the picture.
Unlike a regular shower where you have grab bars and a seat you can sit in, the spa shower has a panel with an overhead shower, a rainfall shower, and frontal showers. If you want more water hitting you in the front of your chest or your back, it has six smaller shower heads that spray the water vertically. It also has a feature that focuses on your feet, a handheld you can use, and adjustable jets where you can change the intensity out front. It’s pretty neat.
I looked at Safe Step Walk-In Showers as a lifetime investment. It was relatively expensive, so I wasn’t pleased with the price. But I expect good quality for the money I paid. So far, I absolutely love it. It’s big enough for my wife and me to shower together, and we just look forward to taking showers. I couldn’t wait to get in there.

I have MS and as I get older, stepping over the edge of the bathtub is getting dangerous, so I was looking around to see who would be good. Safe Step were the ones who came to us the soonest. The other two I called would have been a month wait.
The gentleman who came out was very nice and informative. He wasn't a pushy salesman and was very honest. I've been through many sales talks in my day, and his was a really calm one in comparison to some. He was a sweetheart and had a good sense of humor.
Safe Step’s price was comparable to some I had seen online. It was a little bit higher to begin with, but a little deal came in that made it about the same price as one of the others.
I had to wait for a couple of weeks while they manufactured what we needed for our shower. The gentlemen who installed it were local. They came in and did it in one day. We just had to wait a couple of days so we could get into it, as everything aged properly.
The shower itself is a dream to use. Rainfall shower is the thing I love most. It's easy to get in and get out, and to keep clean. I could take a shower without somebody being in the bathroom with me. It gives me freedom. There are no complaints. One drawback I see is that if I ever have to replace the shower curtain, it will be a long time because it's a biggie.

I absolutely love my Safe Step walk-in shower so much. A long time ago, my foot slipped a little bit while taking a shower in a bathtub, so I needed something to take a shower and not fall. The guy who came out of Safe Step was really nice.
The installer got rid of the old bathtub and put the shower in, plus the two grab bars, the seat and the little ledge I can put stuff on. I have taken five showers already, and I just love it. The only complaint I have is that they put the holder for the shower part just a little bit too high for me.
I like the grab bars. In case I fall, I've got something to hang on to. I like the seat where I can wash my feet or cut my nails. See, I'm a senior citizen.

And the installation was fast. I stayed out of their way. And because of the shower, we did redo the whole bathroom. It is strange having the walk-in shower, and going from a bathtub to just a shower. It feels strange. It’s big, and we put glass doors on ours. And I like the doors on it. But I’m not sure I like how big it feels because it feels strange being so big. Because we had the tub and the shower curtains, so you’re confined in there. When I saw the Safe Step ad, I said, “I'll see what's going on there.” I called and talked to someone, and it turned out that it was within my limits. Everything's going well as far as the walk-in shower is concerned. I put it in my second bathroom. The installation team was fine as far as I could tell. The only thing that occurred was that they had the shower curtain but not the bar. I had to wait a few days in order to get that. But other than that, everything else turned out fine.
I've got a daughter and a son-in-law who are living with me and are overweight. I was a little leery of them getting in and out of the tub, and that was my main reason for getting the walk-in shower. They haven't had any problems that I'm aware of. It gave me a lot of peace of mind, knowing that, because they had both sat down in the tub and had a hard time getting out because of their sizes, I've had to help both of them.
I wouldn't mind recommending Safe Step. In fact, some of my relatives and all have asked me, so I told them where I got it. The only thing I left out was what it cost me. It costs an arm and a leg, it seems like, in order to get something like that done. But it's supposed to have a lifetime warranty and I hope that that is true in all respects. If it is, then everything will continue to be good as long as I own the house.

The interaction with the sales rep of Safe Step was all right, and their installation team did great. I'm handicapped, and I have more difficulty getting in and out of the tub. So, I needed to get something else.
We wanted to go for the tub, but it was 22,000. They were able to get it down to 18,000. But that was still too high. Well, the quote that the plumber gave us was nearly as much as the Safe Step.
But what went into consideration is that Safe Step had the warranties and the means to do the job without any worries about breaking tile because they would cover that. And the fact that we could pay it off in 10 years, we didn't have to come up with the 10 grand for the plumber right then and there.
The only problem with the tub was that the showerhead is so far away if you're sitting on the other end of the shower. I can't get up and walk across the shower. That's unsafe for me. It's not easily attainable without the help of someone else.
The guy put a thing on the wall so that I could hook it closer to me, but that's still way too high. So, they should make it possible for me to control where the seat was, or the water better.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Barbara! We're so glad to hear that Safe Step could make your bathroom remodel easier and that the warranties and payment plan helped give you peace of mind. The Safe Step Walk-In Showers representative was very professional and knowledgeable. He seemed to know what product he had and how good it was. The installation took six hours. It was excellent. They showed up, and did their job very well.
The walk-in shower looks beautiful. It has all the necessary requirements that we need. We waited 24 hours before we could use the shower. We enjoy it. It has all of the features. All of it was my favorite. I got the overhead. It’s got the side bar that I turn on. It’s very expensive, but I’m satisfied with the quality.

I had a positive experience with Safe Step. I also got a quote from a different company because I wanted to see the difference in price, and I ended up with Safe Step. My interaction with the sales representative was very good. The installer, Zach, had a good personality, worked very hard, and did a good job. The kind of installation was expensive, but that’s expected.

We looked at a couple of different brands, and when we looked at Safe Step, we decided it was the one we preferred. We were happy with the whole process. Installation was excellent, and so is the walk-in shower. It's in our guest bathroom, not in our bathroom, and our second guest to use it had fallen in his own shower at home and broke three ribs, and we didn't know. But when he came, I wasn't worried he was gonna fall in our shower.

I chose Safe Step due to the discount they offered for my mother. Their sales representative gave her all the discounts that he could offer her for her age. And he was very informative about the products that they would be using to put into the home.
I believe the person who came out to install it was okay. I wasn't there that day. But to my knowledge, they were very professional.
Well, I don't use it. It's for my mother, and it has impacted her life very well. She had a stroke a couple of years ago. And now, she can just walk in and doesn't have to step over to get in the tub.

Updated on 05/04/2025: Nothing. It said earlier, "Resolution in progress." There has been no resolution. Since this review the tub was taken out on April 7, 2025. It was discovered that the drain and supply hoses were extended improperly; the drain was extended around the sides and back of the tub to the main drain with no downward slope. The water supply hoses had PVC half the size of the flexible steel hoses attached to the original supply hoses, then arched around the two corners and side of the tub, the crisscrossed to the main water supply. Apparently this was done because the plumbing fixtures were in reverse from the original plumbing. This doesn't meet code, and the ROC has been informed of the violation by these improperly and unlicensed workers. Safe Step has been notified through the email they provide, but naturally no response from them because this is how unethical they are!
Original Review: I purchased the Safe Step Walk-in Tub in June, 2023 for relief of my SI joint pain and left hip trouble for which I was told I needed a hip replacement. The tub cost $20,000. Not being able to afford a $33,000 hip replacement, I opted for the tub in the meantime until I qualified for Medicare. I was wanting a private tub for which I could add Epsom Salts to the bath. I am already on disability so ADA compliance was important to me. Instead of receiving benefits of the tub, this is what happened instead:
1. The salesman told me that soaking in the tub would eliminate my varicose veins. He is not a medical doctor and can’t declare that.2. The salesman said that Epsom Salts can be used in tub. A previous Safe Step salesman said this will clog the jets. The salesman said that since most people don’t want to lose their shower, the shower is being provided for free, but didn’t mention that there would be less space for the shower area, only the benefit of a ledge.
3. The salesman said that I needed the top-of-the-line model, probably so he could earn more commission. I was skeptical about getting a tub that you’re stuck in when water is filling, then draining. I mentioned that I’ve passed out from IBS syndrome in the past, that I live alone, and concerned I would be trapped at some point. He said to keep a phone nearby, but by the time someone would break into my house because the door is locked, it could be too late. I realize that this should have kept me from buying the product, but a multitude of things should have kept the salesman from selling the product to me.
4. I have a 40-gallon water heater and 50-gallon water heater is needed to fill the 50 gallons of water and maintain the temperature in the tub. Note: Although I was supposedly given credit for that, I informed him that the water heater could not be upgraded due to limited location space. Salesman said to temporarily turn water heater temperature all the way up before using the tub, then turn it back down after using the tub. This is a safety issue whereupon usage of other plumbing sources would scald anyone else in the house in the meantime!
5. My bathroom is very small, the doorway and toilet area tight, not ADA-compliant. The tub that is supposedly ADA compliant was placed into a room that is too small to make everything ADA compliant.
6. The salesman asked me if I’m right or left-handed. I told him that I’m right-handed, but I was sold a left-handed model, apparently due to spacing limitations. Plumbing is on the left and grab bar and door is left-handed positioning.
7. When the contractor arrived, neither man told me his name.
8. They arrived two hours late.
9. A permit was not posted on the site as required by law.
10. The contractor did not have his license # on any form, only the permit # for the install. I had to ask the registrar of contractors for it.
11. The workers did not verify the tub that arrived was the tub that the salesman ordered, such as the model and serial #.
12. The tub that arrived was in an unmarked van and not in new or protective packaging.
13. They took the tub and shower out. They removed the bathroom door. There was hardly any communication about what was going on, so I just stayed out of the way.
14. Halfway through the process, a middle-age tall stocky man showed up and didn’t introduce himself – he just sort of barged in! I had to ask John who that is, and he said, “That’s Nick. He shows up on job sites when he has time.”
These are issues after installation:1. The existing plumbing had been removed from the right side of the wall to the left side without disclosure as to why. The hot/cold valve shows and operates in reverse, with the cold on left and hot on the right. The contractor even told me that water is in reverse after installing the tub. This is a safety issue as well.
2. The shower space is very tight, not ADA compliant, a walker can’t be placed inside, and not enough space to turn around and raise arms to shampoo hair. Rainfall shower head too large for small space. The add-on shower caused the 6-inch ledge for which the shower arm is attached to intrude on more of the tub/shower area, making the space even more confined. I wash my hair in the shower, so hair goes down the drain. People have mentioned hair clogging the drain, and since it’s a popup drain, there is no way to place an additional trap device to prevent this.
3. The door opening is extremely tight at only 21 inches max and the door closer handle is on the inside of the door. The door opens inward when it should open outward so as not to intrude on limited shower area.
4. Front grab bar is where the plumbing is located on the left side, and I am right-handed and can’t pull myself with that grab bar alone. I would have to push myself up off the seat instead, causing a potential slipping hazard.
5. When the unit is off (but the breaker is not), the seat heats up when my cat jumps onto it to find a warm place to sit.
6. The advertised step-in height is 4 inches, but for some reason when the tub was installed, the step-in height is 6 inches and 7 inches outside where it's contoured. Underneath the tub area is a 4-inch gap where the tub has been raised above the slab foundation, and I don’t know why this was done; no explanation from the contractor.
7. The water runs lukewarm, but after inspector came, the water seems to be hotter, but water temperature is quick to cool down, so 101 degrees that’s needed for soaking benefit would not be consistent.
8. The contractor hurried out after the install, getting me to quickly initial the documents on an IPAD without being able to review the information therein. I asked to receive the documents that day, was told I would, but never got them. I had to ask the main office for the papers twice, whereupon they arrived in an untimely manner.
9. After repeated complaints to the main office, I was told that everything I stated is not their problem and that I have a perfectly usable tub. I was informed that there is no such thing as left and right-handed model, and that the step-in height is what the height is uninstalled. Furthermore, I was told that the tub is custom and not returnable. If this is a customized tub, I wouldn’t want to see one that is not!
10. The first inspection failed. The second one was approved by photos only. There was no inspection during the install. Another inspection stated that plumbing is not in reverse and that workmanship was acceptable. Obviously, I am disputing all that.
I am searching for an attorney to take this case, so please provide me with your contact information so I can proceed.

I needed a safer situation for my wife. And we had talked to Safe Step before about a walk-in tub, but then we decided the tub probably wouldn’t work because she has trouble with her legs standing. So, we decided to go with the walk-in shower.
The installation team was good. The quality was good as far as I can tell, except that we paid for an extra safety bar, and they installed it in the wrong place. We wanted it by the seat so she could use it to help her get out of the seat, and it’s clear on the other end of the shower by the showerhead. And it’s useless where they installed it, and I don’t know how to get it fixed because the installers were already gone when I noticed it.
My wife hadn’t been able to use it because she’s in the hospital. But I’ve used it, and it works fine for me. And it’ll work for her when I can get her home.

I needed the shower. I had a tub and I had a shower in there when I bought this house. It was a small bathtub. It looked like a child's bathtub, so I took mostly showers. But I ordered a seat so I can sit down and bathe like that. Once in a while, I squeezed myself in that little bathtub. Anyway, I got rid of it. When I got the Safe Step, the only thing I don’t like about it is they put the shower curtain too high and water gets on the floor. My caregiver told me put a towel down on the floor so when it will catch the water. What I did, I ordered a mat. I took that new mat and put it on the towel so when it splashed underneath, the rug don't get wet. I tried that. I'm doing pretty good, but the shower curtain could be a little lower, so that way, when I take a shower, it doesn't matter where the shower is going down, it won't go underneath the shower curtain.

My age Told me I needed a walk-in. The sales visit was pretty good. The agent knew what he was talking about and spent three hours here. He's a good salesman.
The installers were good. They showed up in time, but we all didn’t know that the wires from the microwave and the stove ran above the bathroom shower that we currently have. They managed to disconnect the stove, which they figured out and fixed. But nobody realized about the microwave. And so, we didn't do anything. After they left, the microwave wasn't working. We called Safe step at least four times and nobody ever responded to us. I finally had an electrician fix it. There was no response from Safe Step. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
With Safe Step, we got what we paid for, more or less. We didn't need quite as nice as we got, but we like it. I'm very unhappy with the company, though. I had to call my own electrician with something that shouldn’t have been done.

My boyfriend loves it. He puts up some salts in it and it makes him feel so good. And he's really tall. I was worried he was gonna get in it last night. I said, "I'm glad you decided not to take a sauna or a spa," because I was afraid I would look in there and he'd be sound asleep or dead in the water, like he drowned. He said, "Are you kidding me? I can't even get my head under water." It's not for real tall people. He's 6'4. But it's good for me. I'm only 5'4 so it's just right for me. I showed my best friend, and she loved it. We needed a walk-in shower because my husband fell, and he was in a nursing home. He was not doing well. And the personnel at the nursing home told us that my husband should have a way to have a shower, or he couldn’t go home. And before we had it installed, he was going up and down stairs to the one downstairs. And so, my son looked it up, and I called. And my interaction with Safe Step’s representative, Dan, was good. He also went up with me to the nursing home to show it to my husband.
During the installation, two installers came, and they both did a great job. And Dan talked us into a shower curtain instead of a door. And we regret that now. He made it sound like it would be so much easier to keep clean, but we didn’t have a door. And we haven’t even used it. I don’t have a curtain yet. We’re gonna wait until we really need it. I thought it was kind of pissy the way they did me. They told me it would take two days, and they worked for two days straight. And I thought they were gonna come back the third day, but they came back on the 10th day to finish it up. I would have been okay if they called me and told me why they couldn’t come, but they left me hanging, which I didn’t think was right. And I think they overcharged me, too. It was a little bit expensive.
So, they were tearing out my tub and installing my walk-in shower. And they had to put more 2 x 4s in for the chair, where you sit on, for the support. So, they had to finish that. They had piped in the drain, and there were a lot of loose ends in it. They could have finished it up in one day. And the guys that were working on it now swore that they were not in control of them treating me this way.
But right now, everything has been installed, completed, and is in working order. I had another guy come by as soon as they got done to come in. This house was built in ‘62, but nothing was done to it. And the guy cut the sheetrock out, finished it up, and painted it. And then I had another guy come in and install glass around the shower. So, I’ve spent some money on the bathroom, and I’m enjoying it now.

Two guys came for the installation and it took two days for them to complete it. I've never had a shower in my house until now and I like it. I also take care of elderly people and they can use the handrails for them to hang on to. It's easier for them to take a shower that way.

On the edges where you step in, you have the low bar to enter the shower, they really should include this as some kind of option or courtesy install. I had to go out and buy extra pieces myself because water collects on the ridges around the tub and runs off onto the bathroom floor.
I bought what I’ll call “blockers.” They're small, L‑shaped plastic pieces that act like little dams to keep water from running off the lip of the tub onto the floor. Safe Step should either build these into the shower for free, or sell them as a low‑cost accessory. When you’re already paying around $13,000 for the tub, those should really be included.
After the third shower, I got pissed, so I went to the store and bought them myself. I spent about $20 and put one on the left side and one on the right side. After that, you don’t have to worry about water running out of the tub anymore.
The installation was easy peasy lemon squeezy. The only issue was that the installers made a lot of noise, which you can’t really avoid. One thing I would suggest is telling them not to leave discarded tubs and materials on people’s freshly sodded lawns. Other than that, the installation itself was easy.
My dad loves it. We have a walk‑in shower downstairs, but he can’t go up and down the stairs anymore, so we use the one upstairs. He uses a chair lift to get upstairs. There’s plenty of room for me to stand behind him. I don’t use the installed shower chair because I stand behind him while I help him shower. It’s great. The shower is nice and big.
We also got the extra shower handle holder that’s mounted around shoulder height. When my dad is sitting in the shower chair, that handle lines up about even with where he’s sitting. My dad doesn’t sit up straight. He hunches over. So, he’s always hitting his head or shoulder on it. All that needs to be done is move it up or move it back toward the rear of the shower a bit. Then everyone would be happy.
The handholds are placed very well. I would also recommend adding another handhold. Right now, there’s a diagonal handhold along the back of the shower and another handle on the left side where the controls are. Safe Step should add a handle on the right side as well, so there are handles on both sides and one diagonal in the middle.
I also have a recommendation about the flooring. It should be a little grittier so the water flows more into the grooves instead of staying on top. It’s not slippery, but if the bumps were a bit taller, that would be even better.
It’s made my dad’s life much easier when it comes to showering, 100% easier. There’s no slipping. If you don’t get it, you’re stupid.
Dan, thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that the Safe Step Walk-In Shower has made such a positive difference for your dad, especially in improving his accessibility and overall comfort. Safe Step was a little more expensive than I expected but I had no problem with them at all. I told them that my limit was $10,000 but we ended up at $13,000. I went on and put the $3,000 down. I'm gonna finance my $10,000, and I’ll end up paying that off as soon as I get it. Installation was a long one. It started in the morning and ended up in the evening, about six to eight hours. They did what they had to do. It was a little noisy, but aside from that, it was fine. The tech did a good job and my wife loves the shower. She needed it and was totally in love with what the rep was saying and demonstrating. She was the one that I got it for. I asked her, "Do you think it's worth the extra $3,000? She said, "No problem. I'll put it out." So she's happy, I'm happy, and they're happy.
My shower has a small lip just enough to keep the water inside the shower. It’s got safety bars and a seat as well. The only problem I have is that I found another safety bar in my linen closet next to the shower which should have been put on. I haven't talked to them about it yet, but I'm going to. There was also some type of problem with the joist that the drain was going down into. Someone, prior to me buying this house, probably a plumber, had made a cut-out on the joist. That cut-out did not provide the proper support for the P-trap. The inspector who came out told me this and did not approve of getting the job because that P-trap was not properly supported. The boss of the guys who did that job sent me a text saying that, because of the nature of the cut-outs on that joist, they were not gonna be able to provide me with any help. I didn't like that.
I called the Safe Step salesperson who told me, "Any time you have a problem, you call me." I cut and paste his text and the next day he called me, saying, "We will be out there tomorrow to fix your problem." A couple of guys took down my ceiling, spent another three or four hours, put in a new joist, and covered it all back up like nothing ever happened. They butted the new joist up against the one that was in there and that worked out really well. I was very pleased with how they came back out and did what they're supposed to do. I sent them a text thanking them for their good service and they sent me one back saying, "Thanks for being a good customer." We have a good relationship. I even send them prayers. I'd tell others to get Safe Step.
Steve, thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear that, despite the pricing exceeding your initial budget, your wife is thrilled with the new shower and the features it offers. It's also great to know that the installation team did a great job and completed the work efficiently.
We apologize for the initial miscommunication regarding the structural issue, but we’re pleased that our team was able to address it quickly and to your satisfaction. Your feedback about the extra safety bar is noted, and we’ll make sure to follow up on that for you.

The floor is non-slippery and the shower has a curtain, too. Overall, I would recommend Safe Step. I'm pleased with everything they did.

I had to wait until my husband died so I could have surgery and get Safe Step after. It wasn't okay, but that was my life. Someone came out to present and do the measurements.
The installer got the wrong date down and came a day early – I was making birthday cakes for the nursing home. He called the company and they told him to come back tomorrow. When he did, he tried to get most of it done in one day, but he couldn’t, so he had to come back for a couple of hours the next day. He told me to wait 24 hours before using it.
It's a shower with a little lamp to keep the water from coming out. There are bars on the sides, and a seat that comes down and with holes in it so the water can go out. He put a little thing in the corner to put soap and things on. My bathroom is tiny, so we had to work with what we had.
When I saw it installed, my first thought was that my husband should have had this 20 years ago. It would’ve been a lot easier on him. But even though my husband was paralyzed on one side, he would not have allowed me to get a walk-in shower. One of my friends thought I should've left the bathtub in if I’m going to sell the house. I like it the way it is, but I see what they mean, so I got a backup plan for that.
One thing I do not like about the shower is the showerhead itself. To get the water to come out, you have to push that plastic thing down. I would like it to be replaced because I don't like it. The first time I used it, I didn't know how to work it.
I don't remember how much it was, but I did compare prices – I called a couple – and they are a little bit higher than the other ones. I don't know why I went with them, but I did. They are not cheap. If they have a product and they put it in writing that there’s gonna be so much off, they have to honor it. Reneging on it, that's not good business.
Debra, thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear that the installation went smoothly and that the shower has been a helpful addition, especially with its accessibility features. We appreciate your patience with the scheduling mix-up and are happy to know our team worked efficiently to resolve it.

The negotiation was easy, and they were able to keep the timeline as to when they could install the walk-in shower.
There were two gentlemen scheduled for the installation. They called to let me know they were running a little late, because there was an accident on the interstate. We’ve had two other companies come and the one thing that stood out about Safe Step was they had different options. My mom is 79 years old, and for safety reasons, she needed one where she could get in and out of the shower, but she didn't wanna spend $20,000 on a walk-in shower. Safe Step had something that fit our price range. They gave us an estimate and a timeline, and it all went perfectly. My mom loved the installers. When they the presentation, we spent a couple hours. And then they came back a week later to install. It took them a long day, but it was in the basement and they had a lot of work..
It's just a floor, flat, and then they put up three walls. One back and one on each end. And then they put molding around it and a shower curtain on it, and they hooked it up to the water. That was it. We were able to pay for it but the price was high. We paid $11,000.

I initially learned about Safe Step from a card in the mail, and the main reason I considered purchasing a walk-in shower was due to my girlfriend's difficulties getting in and out of tubs, as her legs and knees are troubled.
The experience with Safe Step sales was disappointing. I felt misled as I didn't receive the shower when promised, and I think it is overpriced for what it is. Additionally, the installation wasn't done correctly. One of the rails wasn't fitted properly, and it was misrepresented in terms of accessibility. My girlfriend can't get up and down and we can't get to the valves setting on the seat to use the shower. It was supposed to be handy.
The installation process itself had challenges. Although I liked the guy that installed the shower as he was nice and came back to finish his job when missing parts arrived, it took significantly longer than expected. When I raised concerns to Safe Step, they offered a mere $250 off, which felt quite dismissive given the total cost of $12,500, especially since my girlfriend can hardly use the shower by herself.
My girlfriend was supposed to be able to use the shower on her own and she can't because she can't reach anything to turn the water on and off. There's a rail there where the shower head's on, but it's sideways instead of up and down so we can't adjust the hand wand up or down
Moreover, getting in touch with Safe Step for resolution has been frustrating. All you encounter are recordings, with no call-backs offered. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied and would rate my experience as a 1.

I’ve never had it done before but the shower looks okay. I have pink tiles in the bathroom which I got done way back when I bought the house. I thought they were going to take down some more of the pink tiles and put more white in it, but they only took all the part where they put the shower in.
The only thing we don’t understand is that it seems like when we’re going to get a shower, the red said it’s supposed to be hot and the other side’s supposed to be cold. We ordered the shower from Safe Step Walk-In Showers three months before we bought it. We paid a third of it down and everything’s set up to go on that day in December that they’re supposed to deliver it. They found out the drain was on the wrong end. Those three months, nobody looked at it. I had to figure it out as they couldn’t do it.
Later on, they came in and said that they were gonna do it on a certain day. Safe Step came and worked half a day. They found out that the drain was cracked. This was on a Friday. I asked them when they’d be back to finish it and they said they don’t know. Eventually, they showed up Friday of the next week, but they didn’t tell us they were coming till that day and when they were already here. They came in and finished working the damage.
But that’s not very good for a company. And it was terrible for us because we had people from out of town and everything was all messed up. We moved everything out and we had things scattered all over the house. I had to stay like that because somehow, another fouled up.
There were two of them who worked the first day and they did a good job. But I think they should have given us a discount or a shower seat for all the mess and grief they cost us. Plus, they just didn’t seem to be right. They did good work but you couldn’t count on them being there when they said they’d be there.
Our old shower head is a lot better than the new one, or they just hadn’t got it set up. We barely get a little water out of it, where the old one, we got sprayed. Somebody told us Safe Step may have it cut off. They never have checked on that, but we like it a little bit more spray on what we’re getting. As far as convenience though, Safe Step’s shower is a lot safer. It’s nice and it looks good. We like the shower pretty well.

I have arthritis in my knees and I got to where I just couldn't step over that tub. I thought it was too risky. So, that's why I decided on the Safe Step shower. But I noticed that when I wiped my shower down that the caulking is still kind of soft and I messed it up when I wiped over it. I could feel it piling up underneath my rag. It's not real bad, but it could get bad if a person didn't leave it alone and let it dry. So, I'm not using it. I'm letting it sit so it would dry out.
The installation team was wonderful. Les did a beautiful job. All his plumbing was fine. But when they got it done, I noticed the next day, I was mopping up some of the grit and when I got to my kitchen, I noticed my kitchen was flooded. My kitchen backs up to the wall in the shower. Part of my third bedroom and my kitchen had water standing in the floor.
So I called him back out. It was something that they did when they built the house that was incorrect and they put a boot with two pipes joined, and he said they put a clamp on it and it pushed the pressure further down. It sprung a leak somewhere else and they got that all fixed up. We got the water dried up and everything's fine. They used my existing shower where it was at for the plumbing and it was too high. I'm only 60 inches tall, 5-foot, but I couldn't reach my shower like it was. So Les showed me the little thing he'd put on the wall so we could lower the shower.
With that lower step in my shower it’s a whole lot handier, but right at this particular moment, I'm not using it because I ordered one of those lift chairs and I don't know if it's just the strain of pushing it back or the position I'm sitting in, but it has made my legs so sore. Everything seems to be fine now, it's just me trying to get over these sore legs that this chair has caused.
Betty, thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're glad to hear that the low-step design has made your shower more accessible and that Les and the installation team provided excellent service. We appreciate your patience regarding the caulking issue and recommend reaching out to our team if it continues to be a concern—we want to ensure everything is just right for you. It’s also great to hear that the plumbing issue was resolved quickly. If there’s anything else we can do to enhance your experience, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Our experience with Safe Step Shower was rocky from the start, all stemming from necessity after my wife broke her femur. We needed to install a safer shower option. Initially drawn to Safe Step by a consumer advisor, we decided on them after reviewing several options. The installation process, however, was less than ideal. It was meant to begin on January 15th, but after a late-night call from the installer, we agreed to start on the weekend of the 11th instead. Despite my early preparations, including shoveling snow and managing my diabetes, the installer didn't show up until 11 AM. His truck was disorganized with snow-covered materials, not what one expects for a professional installation. The experience set a poor tone, and the work didn't improve my confidence. The green board was poorly installed with mismatched pieces, and the whole process took longer than promised.
Once completed, we experienced issues almost immediately with water flow due to leaks and a faulty control valve. The service technician who later attended was competent and discovered several installation errors. It took several days to resolve, involving getting parts from another technician. Despite the bumpy start, the product ultimately met our immediate needs for accessibility for my wife. While we appreciate having a functional and safer shower, the installation and initial service left much to be desired.

Now, I love my new shower. It's simple and functional, which is exactly what I needed—no unnecessary fuss or decoration. Instead of worrying about tripping over the old step, I can now enjoy a hassle-free bathing experience. This shower has truly been a fantastic addition to my home. In fact, it's excellent enough that I'm recommending people to consider getting one if they need a shower. I am incredibly satisfied with Safe Step and the service I received.

My mom is limited on walking and mobility and I ended up coming across Safe Step online. The salesman was really nice. He was a little more pushy towards the end than what my dad likes, but we went ahead because we needed it quickly. The installers didn't think they could do it at first because ours had a six-inch step up, which is what we were trying to get rid of. I ended up contacting the salesman and he talked to his boss. He said that they could take that step out and lower it, so they proceeded to do it. They were very clean and packed everything as they went.
I like that the product is open, so I'll be able to step in with my mom to get her comfortable to sit down on the shower chair. I love that it's not slick. The material that it's made out of is non-skid. I like that you can take the wand off the wall. You can actually lower it to her level if needed. It is leaking a little bit where the shower head hooks on so I've got to call and get them out here to redo that. Overall, it was a good experience. I'm really pleased with the work.

I first contacted Safe Step like a year ago, but the estimate was too high. They then contacted me again to see if I wanted to talk to them. The salesman was very nice, and this time, it was like $10,000 less this time around because they had more discounts than they did before.
I got a shower because my husband, who's disabled and in a nursing home, wanted it for me because I was supposed to have surgery. Also, I’m kind of a short person, under 5 feet tall, and the tub is too high, making it harder for me to get into.
The installation took a little over a day. The installers arrived around 10 a.m., stayed the night in my second house since the nearest motel is 40 miles away, and finished the next day by around 6 p.m. It took a little longer than they thought it would, but that was fine. They did a good job and were nice, polite, and considerate. I really enjoy using the shower every day. It has a sprayer hose, and I also had a seat installed because my husband comes home occasionally, and he can't walk that far, but he can stand.

I have a medical condition and, in the future, I will be in a wheelchair. In preparation for what's to come, I had Safe Step update my bathtub to a shower. They sat down with me and gave me different options that I could do. They said they were giving me discounts because I was a senior, and then they gave me a couple of thousand dollar credits. I don't know if I got the best deal, but it is what it is. I was also told that there's a lifetime warranty.
The only thing that I have an issue with is that water comes onto the floor. We have to have a towel there all the time. They did tell me that the rubber thing that stops that from happening can only do so much. It doesn't flush 100% against the edge because the edge has a little bit of a curve, but the plastic thing they put down is flush. So, there's a little bit of a gap and water can get through there.
Isabel, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear that our team provided knowledgeable service and that you found reassurance in the lifetime warranty. I found Safe Step while googling state shower installs. I got three people that I wanted to talk to, including Jacuzzi and Safe Step. Jacuzzi came first, and they did their spiel, but it was very expensive. Then Safe Step came in, and their product has more benefits than the more expensive Jacuzzi. I had also looked at their reviews and decided that they were a good company, so I went with Safe Step.
The people who installed it were great. They came early at 8:00-ish, and I just left them alone and would come out to supervise once in a while. They were always working very hard and hardly ever took a break. The install was done in a day, and it was perfect.
Now, the finished bathroom looks much better. I had an outdated tub, and it now looks much more modern. I even have a teak seating bench in it, and it looks pretty good. I think their product is superior to others that you can get. One of the benefits is that they have jets installed in the shower. They have a handheld shower that you could turn. They also have these jets like you would find in a Jacuzzi, only they're shower jets. I didn’t see that on any other products, and I really appreciated that. I’ve already told a couple of people, my brother and my neighbors, about it, and I’ve been very positive about them.
Denise, thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with Safe Step—from our competitive pricing and benefits to our efficient installation team. I chose to buy a walk-in shower from Safe Step because the reviews were good, and I saw one of their constant advertisements. It sounded like a pretty good deal, but unfortunately, it wasn’t.
The sales representative, Mike, was okay, and I didn’t have any problem with him. Unfortunately, it was a crappy installation. The doors were installed improperly. Usually, you can open and close them with a finger, but this required my entire hand and arm just to open one side of it. The hot and cold water lines were reversed, so I got to turn it all the way over to cold to get hot and vice versa. In addition, the sprayer attachment fell off the wall on the second day. The shower tub was installed improperly, too. It creaks and sinks down when you step on it and makes all kinds of weird squeaky noises.
I reported these defects the next day after installation but received no response. Over the next two months, I've been through all of these issues with several Safe Step people, including Mike and the regional manager, and they expressed some regret about this whole thing going on. One of the installers, Chris, came out to take a look at it and basically said it probably couldn't be fixed. He said somebody would come out and replace this shower the following week. However, a week later, nobody called. I'm still really upset about how I've been treated by Safe Step, and I'm already getting a lawyer involved in it.

Except for the showerhead itself, I love it. I changed the showerhead on it because it didn't have enough pressure on it. So, I got a smaller showerhead and it seemed to help. I'd recommend it to anybody, it's just nice to go and take a shower instead of having to crawl over the bathtub.

I first learned about Safe Step Walk-In Showers from a brochure we received in the mail. Intrigued by the information, I decided to call them. The sales agent was very informative, showing us videos about the product's inventor and highlighting its benefits, specifically the non-slip feature built into the shower. This was significant for us because the person I care for has difficulty walking and stepping into a traditional bathtub was not only painful but also very inconvenient for her. The installation process was smooth and efficient. The team was polite and cleaned up nicely afterward. They even paused their work to allow her to use the bathroom, which I appreciated. The entire installation took only about five hours. They did a very good job.
This product has significantly improved her life. She loves the shower so much that she often doesn't want to get out of it. It's become a source of pride, and she frequently invites her nurses to come and admire it. Even I enjoyed trying it out! She has told her sister all about it, who also considers getting one eventually. Since other caregivers hadn't taken similar initiatives before, it's been a revelation. Thanks to the shower's design, her wound on her hip can stay dry, allowing her to enjoy showers again after six months of sponge baths.
Elizabeth, thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that the Safe Step Walk-In Shower has made such a positive impact on both of your lives. I needed a bathroom remodel because of my health. The bathtub-shower combo was hard for me to get in and out of, so I needed one that I could step in and out of. The sales representative was good. He was thorough about explaining things to me and telling me the price, and that was the reason why I went with them because he was honest.
On the day of the installation, they came out and took the old tub and shower combo out. They did whatever they had to do to the walls and floors to make sure that the new shower would fit and be safe, and they did a thorough job. Since they put this shower with the bench and everything in it, it makes it easier and safer for me to get in and out. The only drawback on features is the shelving. Some of them are not tall enough for tall bottles of shampoo. When those cubbies get wet in there, things want to slide off.
The only thing, however, was that the following day after they came back and finished the job, was that they didn’t get the hot water line all the way on where I can have hot water. That was an oversight. They forgot to make sure that they had it on all the way, because when I noticed it and called about it, before the guy came out and called me, and they were saying it was coming out. I turned both of them off and then I turned them both on all the way, and I started getting hot water then. Overall, they are very good and thorough, and that they are honest about the prices, and upfront about everything.

I could no longer step into my tub. I was scared I was gonna fall, so I changed it to a walk-in shower. I went with Safe Step but the sales rep that's in this particular area couldn't make it so another sales rep from Wisconsin came. He explained things to me and was very nice. In fact, I left word for him yesterday. The workers were good. They had to cut my old tub out upstairs and they cleaned up but not the basement. The plumber didn't clean up after himself, which plumbers usually don't. The tub had a lot of stuff in it.
Space-wise the walk-in shower is okay. They usually mount the towel bar slanted. I have a window so we decided to put it straight across but they put it slanted. The caulking looked okay. It's a good water resistant caulking but when you go to paint, it's a little bit different color and you can't paint over it. The person that was painting for me adjusted that, and they put some more caulking on it and got it matched up. There is a caulking that will take paint, so they should be aware of that if they're not.

A representative was here about three years ago and I said I did not wanna do the walk-in shower then. But I'm 95 now and I needed a shower that has a shower chair to be pushed into it. The first time the installers came, the salesman did not measure correctly. So, the walk-in shower did not fit and the installers had to take it all out again and put it back in the truck and reorder a smaller size. The second one was reordered correctly and the installers came and did the same thing. But it was defective. And each time, I had hired a girl to come and take things off the wall. Against the bathroom wall, I had a China cupboard so everything had to come out of that. My son-in-law had to come and move it an inch away from the wall, and it's gigantic. The third time, the installers came and everything was all right. But we had to go through the same thing of taking everything off the wall and putting it back. So, that was a very big trauma for everybody in my house.
The installers asked me where I wanted the grab bar and the little shelf for the shower for the shampoo. I said I didn't know and they put it in positions that were wrong for me. I cannot use them because when I go in with the chair, the grab bar is right by the arm of the shower chair. And I couldn't possibly use the shelf because it's so far back in the opposite end of where they turn on the water for the shower. So those things are totally useless. My daughter had to buy suction cups.
Still, I liked the quality of the work very much but the main thing was the workmen were the nicest young men that I have ever seen. Safe Step is very fortunate to have such nice young men do the work and they did it very efficiently and quickly. They were a delight and they were very fast. The workmen were wonderful but I would not recommend the company because of what happened to me.

I decided that it would probably be safer in the long run to have a walk-in shower instead of a tub. So, I talked to a rep from Safe Step and he was very polite. I've never been called "ma'am" so many times and it was a little over much. But that was just his manner. For the installation, the techs arrived a little after 8:00 AM. There were two men, an older man and a younger man, who turned out to be his son. They worked through the day and they did a very good job of putting down a cloth to walk on. I had very minimal interactions with them. They just kept working away and were very quiet. I had emptied everything I could out of the bathroom before they started to work and I'm glad that I did because to take the tub out, it had to be broken apart. So, if I hadn't taken everything off the walls, some things would have fallen. They finished at about 5 o'clock.
I am a little concerned that I found something after they left. My bedroom adjoins the bathroom and I found that something had fallen off my bureau, a ceramic figure, and it had broken. But really, except for the noise that had to happen taking the tub apart, it was quiet. They really were very thorough with what they did and they cleaned up beautifully after everything. Other than that, the product was far too expensive. But I expected it to be easier to get into and it is easier to get into. It's just that I end up with water all over the floor every time I take a shower. Opposite the shower curtain, there's a grab bar on the outer edge of the shower stall and the shower curtain is inside that, which means I have to move the shower curtain to use the grab bar if I need it. And I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Safe Step Walk-In Showers' rep was precise. He explained everything in detail. We were there for a couple of hours and he explained it nice and slow, showed us the different prices and what he could do for us. Safe Step's plumbers took the shower apart, and realized they needed a part. They didn't send the whole part. The plumber had to leave and reschedule it for another day. We called Safe Step because Ilene was handicapped and we needed some kind of a shower because my other shower was small. The salesman spoke to the boss. They made the plumber come in and put in a temporary shower so we could go in and have that shower, which was very helpful.
However, they had to stop the job because there was mold behind the tiles that they took down because they had to go to the wall. We had to get a mold company in here. We told the installers they would have to come back after this whole thing is over with so they could put in my shower. They came back when we told them to. They were very neat.
We have fixed showerheads. We have the overhead and the handheld. They wanted to put these special L bars, which they had to give us money back because the L bars couldn’t fit in my shower. They replaced the bars that we previously had in the shower so it’s safe for us. The new pan has ridges on it so we would not slip and fall. Also, they put a sealant. We don’t have to paint. The only thing is the piece of the ceiling. The installer didn't put enough glue in that piece and the ceiling would fall a bit. The painters fixed it up for us. Other than that, everything is pristine.
We can walk in, do the shower. It's easy access for us. If Douglas would eventually need any surgery, it will be easy access for him to take a shower. We can put a shower chair in our shower, which we had. Our shower is small, but our shower chair is good for that shower. Safe Step said they would build us a chair in there if we need it. But they can build us a shower chair in the shower if we wanted. We had to give back the shelves because they were too big for the shower. They credited our bill.

My mom makes payments on it, but I wish they would have better programs for disabled veterans so it didn't cost them much out of pocket. I wish Safe Step would have been able to work with the fact that my mom and my grandfather are both veterans and disabled. They're on a fixed income. We're trying to go through now with the VA to see if there's a way they would help them cover the expenses of it. But that's the only thing. I would recommend it. He was trying to push the tubs though and I told him that was not what I was looking for. I have a problem with getting around and I needed to get rid of the tub. He showed the picture of the company in Tennessee where the walk-in shower is made and brought in pieces of the flooring so you could see it. It seemed a better quality compared to even well-known products that you see in the stores. And he spent a lot of time showing us that. I didn't know what the price was going to be until after the salesman was here and it was a lot of money. It was $16,000 for just the shower. But I needed it.
The workmen were great and very professional. They were here early until just when it was gonna get dark. They put covers on the carpeting from the way they came in, all the way up to the bathroom. We like the price of Safe Step. The sales rep did an excellent job. We were happy with how they explained it. The installation was really good. The installers were super. They were here and got it done in one day. We were very impressed with them. I like the way they arranged everything, the way they installed it, and how quickly they installed it. It was just excellent.

The Safe Step rep was a lot of fun. He went over every detail of the product. He went in and looked at the bathroom to see what would be done and explained to us about the tile. The installation was quick. I couldn't believe the installer got it done in one day. What we had before was just a bathtub. Having to step over it to get in and also, it gets slick. So, it was dangerous. Now it's so much easier, we have two grab bars and a seat in our walk-in shower. It was a little expensive, but I know they all are.

Safe Step wasn't the cheapest, but I liked Brian. He's a good sales person and was the most straightforward with me. He gave me a price and I told him I was not gonna make a decision, that it would be the next week. He told me to give him a call when I was ready. I also liked the fact that Safe Step had too many installations and the others didn't have that many. I like the looks of what they had that I wanted as well.
The installers arrived early. They were supposed to be here at 8:00 and were outside the house at about 7:30. The guys were terrifically professional. They called me in when they thought that I needed to make a decision on something. They made a couple suggestions of what might look nice and I agreed with them. They were very accommodating. They worked quickly as well and were here until 4:35.
I love my walk-in shower. It's convenient and I'm comfortable in it. Because it's a little wider than the tub was, I don't feel like I'm gonna fall. I had a shower curtain on my tub and I always felt if I fall, that's not gonna stop me. I thought to put doors in on the shower, and I feel very safe in it. The flooring is rough. I had the chair put in, which cost me 800, and I'm glad I did that. I have two handles too. I also put a fancy showerhead in that I like a lot. I'm very glad I went with Safe Step. Though it's expensive, I got what I paid for.

When Safe Step reached out to me, I liked the guy on the phone. He came out then demonstrated, and he was a very nice guy. But I'm not very happy with Safe Step right now and I probably wouldn't recommend them to anybody. They could have done better. They didn't put any safety bars in my shower. They could have told me before they put the new shower in what they needed to put the handle bars on, but they didn't. They did not explain anything to us why they couldn't until they were done.
I offered to give them $11,000 for the shower because of the handle bars. My mom's 85 years old. She needs some assistance. The handle bars would have been great at giving her that. I have to be there while she's showering. I can't leave her in there by herself because she has no way to pull herself up. Also, the hose that's coming out of the wall is leaking. They're coming out Monday to do the handle bars, and they're gonna fix that leak. But the walk-in shower is safe. It's enough room. If I have to get in there and lift my mom up, there's enough room. It's beautiful that way. The floor is awesome as well.

My husband needed a safer shower to get in and out of. We got a Safe Step walk-in shower, and that part works - it's easy to get in and out of. The bench seat’s comfortable as well. When they were scheduled to come out, there was a cancellation so we got bumped up early. That was great, but we had an outpatient appointment for my husband, so we weren't gonna be here. They installed the grip bars and the shower rest thing in the wrong spot. I kept hitting my elbows on that showerhead thing. I accidentally knocked it off so they sent somebody out to fix that part.
The people that came and installed it unfortunately had to rebuild the floor underneath it, so that put them behind their normal schedule. But they cleaned up their mess really well. They were smokers but they did not smoke in my house. When I called back to let them know about the shower leaking, the handrails and the handgrips that weren't right, they had somebody out within 48 hours.
My shower is shorter than the standard shower because I'm in a manufacturer double wide, and the showerhead, when the water comes out at the top, it hits that back wall and that step up lip. It runs right out on the floor and floods the whole bathroom floor. I ordered some guard things from Amazon to put it on the corners of the shower so it wouldn't do that. Hopefully, that'll work because these things are not cheap. The walk-in shower is pricey.

A Safe Step rep came out and I told him what I wanted. I had a tub but I wanted a walk-in shower. The people that installed it did an outstanding job on it. I don't have to worry about climbing across the tub but I didn't know it's expensive and I had committed to this contract. I paid 1,500 down and I owe them 15,000. The walk-in shower doesn't work like your regular shower, but it's much better for me than a tub. It's really nice as well and I enjoy it so far.

Safe Step came out and, at first, we wanted a walk-in tub. Then we found out they also had showers so we got a walk-in shower as well. I have neuropathy, so I can't stand up in a shower and the lip on it was high. I have to think about how to get in and out of the shower if I'm in a wheelchair. I like that Safe Step has one that has almost no lip on it.
They were constantly updating us on when they were gonna do the installation. If there was a problem, they called and let us know right away. The tub was installed in one day and they took care of everything. They also got the electrician out there to run the wiring on the same day. As for the shower, they got a bad panel from their manufacturer so they had to come back a second time and replace it. But they had it completed in one day as well.

The installation was excellent. From 8 o'clock in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, the two young men never stopped. I said, "You didn't even stop for lunch." "No. We don't bother." There were supposed to be three, but one was ill and he never came. So, the two did it all by themselves. Everyone was very nice. In fact, later on that day, there was a little drip. I called the company the next day and they sent a man who was four hours away. He drove and was here for half an hour walking around and around looking for a drip, but there was none. Maybe it was a drip of water on the installer's hand. I said, "Oh, I'm so sorry you had to make that trip." He said it was such a nice ride. "I was never up this way. I'm not used to looking at mountains." I called the next day and told Safe Step that there was nothing. I said, "I'm so sorry." They said, "Oh, no. Any time you have any questions, you call us." So, I felt okay about the guy having a four-hour trip.
The walk-in shower is beautiful. All three of my neighbors from next door came in individually and I said, "Walk down the hall, put the light on, and see what you see." I heard the light clicked and "Wow." They knew what it looked like before and it was a big change. I had a pink tub from the '70s. Overall, Safe Step is wonderful, and my experience is perfect just the way it is. I was at the point where I was afraid of getting in and out. It was hard. Now, I just walk right in, do my business, and get right out. It's very enjoyable. The walk-in shower is very expensive, but with everything going up and the other companies probably more that I’ve heard, going with Safe Step was worth every penny.

I'm not happy with what Safe Step Walk-In Showers did. When I called the rep back he just talked to his manager, and his manager said that is what it was. But it's not what I got. I had to call them back four times before they responded, to send somebody out here to see what I was talking about. They didn't put enough grout at the bottom of the shower. They didn't give me a built-in pole. They gave me one that slid down. That is not what I saw on the demonstration that was shown to me. The rep was shocked too when I said that. He put me on hold and he called whoever he called, and they said that they didn't put those in anymore. I was very unhappy with that. They left the edge of my wall all messed up. It was horrible-looking.
When they finally came out, the tech tried to fix it. He did a good job at the bottom of the floor and on the edge of one of them. But on one edge, whatever he put up started running. I got a big ugly patch on the edge of the shower. That thing looks ugly. I just threw my hands up. The only thing I like about it is it's easier for my sister to get in without finding her a home care person. It helps me so I don't fall off the tub. It's easier to take a shower and be comfortable. But I won't use Safe Step anymore. I was disappointed.

Safe Step Walk-In Showers' rep and I talked about the shower and I was very interested. He quoted me a price and I thought it was too high. I made him a counteroffer. He called the home office and they decided they weren't interested. So, they left. A month later, I got a call and somebody told me that they had some kind of a special. They made me an offer that was $500 less than what I had offered to pay for it. So I said, "Sure, let's do it." The second sales guy came, we talked about it and came to that conclusion that that was a good price. I told him to do it.
Installation day went fine. The installers showed up when they said they would. Everything went perfect except there was one piece that was broken, and the tech said he could glue it back together. I said, "No, I'm really not interested in that. I'd rather you just come back later and fix it properly." Two weeks later, he came back and fixed it properly and finished the installation. It would have been much better had it been right and had it been fast.
I bought the deluxe version, so I got all the safety features that it had to offer. We're pleased with all of them. The handrails are very strong. The chair feels a bit springier than I would have expected. It's okay. As long as it didn't fall out of the wall, I would be happy. The design of it makes it a bit springy. But the product is exactly what I expected to get when I purchased it.
There's a lot of stuff I like about it. I like the handrails. It's sturdy. I also like the kind of shower that it is. I like having two showerheads, one that I can move around. I also like the seat and that the shower is an inch and a half off the floor to get into it. It has made my downstairs bathing situation a lot safer. I could have paid a lot more for something that is a bit snazzier than what Safe Step sold me. But for what my needs are, it was perfect.

Safe Step Walk-In Showers did a good job. They said the installation would take one day because we only had one bathroom in our house. They took two days and both of the guys that worked on it were polite. They just did the shower part where the tub was. They took the tub out and we just have a shower and a plastic curtain. The curtain is a liner, and we had to get one that went on the outside because the rod that Safe Step has had the hooks that went over the rod. Without another rod up there, they will hold another curtain.

We had a very pleasant experience. We like the price and the workmanship. Safe Step came on time. They finished at 5:00. The only thing was as the guy carried out the remnants that they took out, it left our front glass door all dirty. But I cleaned it up. I would look in the shower every once in a while because I thought, "Wow, how do they do all that in one day?" Everything was fine. They put in a plastic thing where they come in from the front door to the bathroom so there was no mess. There were no stains on the floor. They were clean going in and out.
The other good thing about it is the other places have a certain place where they would put all the stuff that goes in the shower but Safe Step was able to work with us to have the different things installed where we needed them to be for my husband because he's handicapped. My husband uses the shower every day. He has aches and pains. He is now more relaxed. He enjoys his new shower. My husband is very happy with it. I've been recommending Safe Step to my friends and neighbors.
We chose Safe Step over other companies because of the price, I think one wanted 48,000, 49,000. Also the VA helped us pay for a handicap shower. And they worked with us, helping us get the VA paperwork needed. Afterwards, they sent us pictures and said it was complete. We turned the rest of the paperwork to the VA so that they can pay us the other half of their portion. The VA pays 6,800, but we had to pay the rest.

The sales rep that I worked with was great. He was very articulate and specific. The mechanic got there to install, and they were all on the same page. We had some special issues because I was trying to level the plumbing behind the wall, where the original bath has been put in. They had to order a special part so he can lower the drain to get it to where it wouldn't be such a step, and that it would be just a minimal step for us. It was pretty quick to get the part. My wife was impressed with everything that she saw. I use it and I'm also impressed. It's very comfortable, and very roomy, which I like. It is something better than some of the other places offered. I'm a little unhappy with the process that Safe Step carried out to do what they did. I don't know if it's humanly possible to level the glass door slide on the bottom, but these doors are not. They can be leveled and they were not. The two parallel doors are slightly askew from one another. The seat in there is damaged. They said that there's gonna be a replacement sent. But I have not seen it yet. I'm a little worried about the floor support system underneath. It is going to break with time. But the shower works. It performs as more or less advertised, but they could have done better on the installation.
The salesperson was strictly on the phone. He was all right to deal with for what little we dealt. Then a guy came over and took a look at what was going to be the installation. This is an older home. So, I can't blame everything on them. But when they took the tub apart, they violently tore a pipe loose that broke more corroded pipe, and I ended up paying $3500 more to get the repairs done to the plumbing. It's old plumbing, but they could have been a little more gentle when they did the work. The woodwork was a poor choice on our part. More research should have been done. We overpaid for what we got. The installers should have spent a little more time. But they wanted to get it done the last day and they were gone.

So the price was great. The two installation guys were real polite and nice. This was the second time I used Safe Step because I had a tub put in first, and then later on had the shower put in. It looks great. They worked hard trying to finish it in one day, but had to come back the next day to make sure it was right. They did a good job. So I'm happy.
We're doing more showers now. My wife got hurt in March of this year and part of her doing better is that we put that shower in so she can do more for herself. That man got that tub out of here and the first wall put up before I even got back home that day. We had a few complications, but they were able to resolve it with just their knowledge. They boomed to the store and right back in the bathroom. She was done in two and a half days. Tore down, busted up, cleaned up, rebuilt another whole new wall to adjust to the fitting of the shower because it wouldn't have fit right. Excellent experience.
Everything is excellent, except for the shower curtain doesn't stick to the bottom. The magnets keep falling out and water keeps getting all over the floor. But we've been keeping a towel down. Also, it could use little shelves in it, because Safe Step only has the four. Other than that, it's wonderful. It cleans up very well. I don't have to use chemicals, because we were told not to. I saw an article on Safe Step in a magazine, and I looked at them, put a call in, and I liked what they told me. The salesman came out, and he was very knowledgeable. He went over what was offered and showed me all the options. I chose the one I liked, which is a classic walk-in shower, and it was a fair price. When the installers came in, they covered the floor with stuff so that they didn't track everything up. They let me know what they were gonna be doing, and they started tearing the old stuff out. My wife took pictures as they did it, so we got a record of how they did it.
The installation got done in the day, which was surprising. The installers were professional, doing it in a quick and safe manner. The shower in the tub and the outside parts people can see were great. However, one of the fittings on the faucet inside started leaking, so I had to have them come back and tighten that up. I had to wait, but they came out fast to fix it, so I was well pleased with that. The customer service was great.
We're getting older, and the tub we had was a big one. However, I just used the shower so I didn't figure going for another tub would do me that much good. We decided to go with the shower and it's been good for us. I've used the walk-in shower twice. I like the floor in it because it's rough and I noticed I didn't go sliding around on it. It worked good that way. Safe Step had two bars, and I had them put a third bar on the back. Now, there's one on each end and then one at the back. So, safety-wise, it looks like it's gonna be fine. I would recommend Safe Step to my friends.
