For the 2nd time in a month, Republic has failed to pick up trash on scheduled day. It has been sitting curbside for 4 days; when I wrote their CC, I was told I would be scheduled for pick up Wed. Why bother? My regular day is Friday. What's 2 more days in 95 degree heat? I'm sick of their canned, rote apology letter. I'm sick of my trash being the only one curbside for a week, waiting for this crap company to decide to do the job I'm paying them to do.

Not really shocked to see the Horrible rating for this company. One week they pick up just my recycling and the next week only my green waste. When I call to complain or have a special pick up, they want to charge $40. No, how about your lazy drivers actually do their job and pick up my trash. I wish we had a choice on who picks up our garbage. No way Republic Services should be in business.

There was a Recycle Pickup Scheduled today and my neighbors had lots of material on the curb. We spent hours collecting recycle materials and they never showed up. I am wondering if they will show up tomorrow, but if I go by experience they will not. So I have to go outside collect all the boxes and cardboards etc. and the container bring them back in the house. What a mess. They often skip the service.

It took 3 phone calls to get my service cancelled. Even though they picked up my containers immediately. Then I was sent an invoice for $36.00 ($18/container) for "container removal", several months later. Am I legally obligated to pay this fee for "picking up the containers"?

Again I call on Thursday 6th of July. They said they pick up today. Until now nobody pick it up. I later today to talk with emergency supervisor. He said they will pick it up on Friday 7th. They keep repeating the same story.

I was a customer for many years with Republic and in May 2017 I received a bill stating it was 83.00 for the next 3 months of services, this bill was over 20.00 more than the last bill and no explanation was stated on the invoice. A couple days ago I received showed I owed 67.40 which is normally close to what I would have paid for the billing cycle. I called them and it took forever to get a hold of anyone and I basically got nowhere with them. The Rep tried to tell me that the 67.40 was a canceling fee which I was never told about. I finally found the canceling info on their acct, and it stated that up to 45.00 would be applied to my acct if I cancel. The numbers do not add up here at all. I HIGHLY recommend not using this company. They will try to rip you off.

Recently, Republic Services took over from our previous vendor, whom we loved. We were promised a smooth transition with minimal hiccups. However, for the past 2 months it has been nothing but empty promise after empty promise. Our usual pickups are Wednesday and Saturday, but since Republic took over our service, they have missed far more Saturdays than they have serviced. Not only that, but each and every time they have missed a Saturday pick-up I have called and requested a make-up pick-up. Each time they have promised one and each time they have failed to deliver.
We are an apartment building, so trash piles up quickly. It is imperative that our dumpster is serviced regularly for health reasons. Yet, still, Republic has yet to make good on a single promise of theirs to pick-up our trash on Saturdays or for make-up days. I've talked to several customer services representatives and been refused to speak with any supervisor who may be able to help. Our previous trash company has graciously tried to mediate to no avail. There is simply nothing we can do to get Republic to do their job and are at wit's end.

We were happy with our prior company but the city of Los Angeles did changes and we are force to have Republican trash company as our vendor. The transition was two months ago and since then I have been calling them to pick up our trash for one of our property. We paid on time. We have a schedule pick up for Saturdays and Wednesday. Every Saturday the big dumpster is not pick up.
I call the company and every time I call they claim that they will escalate the problem to a supervisor and never get a callback. The trash dumpster was never pick up again and tomorrow is 4th of July and you can imagine how bad the trash dumpster will be. This is an apartment complex of 23 units so you can imagine how bad this is for us as owner of the property and our tenants to have all this trash all over just because this company is forgetting the Saturday trash pickup. This is the worst company I have work with. I wish the city of Los Angeles would let us pick our own trash vendor.

For 18 years we used Raritan Valley Disposal, NJ and never had an issue. Republic took over and all continued to be ok until June 23, 2018, when garbage was not picked up. I called and was told it would be picked up on Monday; it was not. I canceled service and wanted empty can picked up. When I called again, I was told it should have been picked up on Saturday, June 24. I called again and told it would be within 1-3 days. No pick up. Called again, and again, and again, and each time I had a different answer. Container was left outside all of this time, approx. 9 days, which is against the neighborhood regulations. I was finally told it would definitely be picked up on Friday, June 30. By 3 pm on Friday I called and was told that specialist would contact Mr. ** and get back to me. No one got back to me. At 4 pm, I called specialist who said there was a notation that if pick up was not on Friday, it would be Saturday, July 1. Naturally, it was not picked up.
I spoke to Jasamine ** on Saturday, who seemed to be knowledgeable. I told her that if pick up was not on July 1, I would NOT keep can in front of house again. Naturally there was no pick up. I would estimate that I spoke to at least 10 specialists, Tana, Jaqueta, Ms **, Shatasa, Jasamine, Jeffrey, etc. Charlotte, Indianapolis, Arizona. I have never in my life seen miscommunication like this. I was told they called dispatcher on many occasions, escalated request, etc. Oh, how I miss the small business personal service. I am now with a local company and know that I can call their office, speak to a person in my area if I have a problem.

My husband and I are customers of Republic Services. We had a mattress and box springs which we needed to get rid of. My husband called Republic in Kalamazoo on June 15th to see it they took large items. We were told to put both mattress and springs out with the regular garbage. They never took the items. My husband called again to reschedule (June 26), hauled the mattress and spring out of the garage on the new day and they never took the items. When he called to reschedule again (June 28), he was told "they didn't see the new reschedule". Third date, move the mattress and springs back to the curb and again no show.
We borrowed a friend's pick up and drove to the Republic dump site. My husband checked in, surrendered his driver's license and dumped the mattress and springs. To add insult to injury, the women at the Republic gave him the wrong driver's license back!!! We've paid ahead for the next three months. I would love to tell them where to shove their trash cans, however, we've also had trouble with their billing department. I doubt they have the capacity to refund our money.

They did not pick up my garbage yesterday and the customer service rep was not someone I would have talking to my customers. I have to pay for other garbage pick up while they are holding my money. Republic Trash in Winder, GA - This is the worse company I have ever dealt with for trash pickup. I have been missed so many times and calling in to complain does no good. I have not had my trash picked up in two week and I have called every day. If I had not already paid for three months I would cancel today. Can't talk to a manager and when I finally did I was promised that it would be taken care of by yesterday and I'm still waiting with trash piling up in my garage. I would never recommend this company to anyone! No one and I mean no one cares about the customer.

Approximately one month ago, my wife began receiving a service fee that was out of line with what we had been paying in prior billing cycles. When she questioned the customer service rep(s) that she reached over the phone, they assured her that the errant billing was a clerical error and to not be concerned and that they would correct the information in their system. Yet the incorrect service charge continued to show on our online account information and today things finally came to a head. Today the customer service rep du jour (anonymous), told my wife that we did owe the amount that we have been questioning and that no adjustment would be made to our account and that our account was suspended.
So another call was made and my wife reached a better informed, more reasonable rep and she explained what their system showed a billing error and promised to make the corrections and update our account, lifting the suspension and releasing us from potential collections agency harassment. Now that this has been "resolved", we have cancelled our account and will never return to Republic Services again. Wow, who has time for this type of a hassle?

I began my service in early 2016. My bill for 3 months trash collection at that time was $64 and some change. During the time I received service from Republic, there were many times that my trash was not picked up as scheduled and a couple times the person picking it up spilled trash in my driveway and just left it there. This bill steadily went up almost each billing cycle until I received my bill in may for June, July and August trash collection. It was $104.28. When I called the company to question this I was told that their cost had gone up so the bill was raised.
I live 2.5 miles outside of a small town. Residents of this small town pay $11 a month for trash pickup through Republic. When I questioned this I was told that the town has a contract with them for trash collection at this price. I canceled my service and immediately secured service with another company for $74 every 3 months. I had signed up for autopay when I started my service with Republic. The day I canceled my service, May 23, I went online and canceled the autopay. On June 9 Republic took $104.28 out of my account without authorization. I have made several phone calls and am still waiting for my money to be refunded. These people are at best, completely incompetent and at worst, complete criminals. I will burn my trash in my back yard before I will ever do business with Republic Services again.

I negotiated the price with your Rep to around $27.00 dollars per month. You have been screwing me for a decade. So screw you Republic. You have all the money you are ever going to make out of me. Republic garbage pickup is provided by the city I live in. We pay for it on our utility bill each month. I contacted Republic Services to rent an extra trash receptacle. The charge was $5 per month, so I paid the full year's price of $60. Three times during that year, Republic sent me bills for trash pickup and stopped collecting my trash for 2 weeks because they said I had not paid for their services. Three customer service calls later, the issue was "resolved". A week later I got another bill for services. I cancelled my contract and had them come pick up their receptacle. It took them 6 weeks to come and get it and they sent me ANOTHER bill!! This company has no idea what they are doing. I would not use them unless I had no choice. I will not use them again.

Horrible company!!! They take your money and your delivery fee but don't pick up your garbage. What a scam of a company!!! We signed up for them in April with service to start on May 5th. They picked up the garbage the first week. The second week they did not pick up our garbage. I called that day to find out why and was told 'probably 'cause the driver was sick or the truck broke down or something.' I then spoke to a supervisor who assured me that this is not how they operate and told me it would be picked up by 5 the next day which was Friday.
On Friday at 4:45 they still had not picked up our garbage. I called and spoke to a supervisor, who told me that I called in too late on Thursday to be put on Friday's schedule. He assured me that it would be picked up on Monday. Well it's Monday and they didn't come out. Go figure! I called at 4:30 and was told that the truck would be out that day, that it wouldn't be there until 6 or 7 (of course, after their office is closed). True to their nature they never showed up. In addition to their crappy pickup service, their call center is a mess as well. Expect to be on hold A MINIMUM of 15 minutes. (That should have been my first clue. Everyone's probably calling in to find out why their garbage hasn't been picked up.) When I set up the account I requested two garbage cans. Only one was delivered. When I called back I was told there would be another $20 delivery fee. I told them no, because it was their mistake. She assured me that she would waive the $20 fee.
A few weeks later I realized they did not pull the money from our account. I called and was told it had been paid. I told them the money did not come from our account. After pressing them about it, they finally gave me the account number that it pulled from. It was a Wells Fargo account but was not one of our accounts. In fact the account was not even close to any of our account numbers. I was told not to worry about it, that it had been pulled from the other account for almost a month, and they didn't notice it. I told them that was not right. They needed to credit that other account and bill me. They finally agreed.
They gave me the amount coming from our account, it was different from the original amount. I asked why, they explained there were prorated charges. They also mentioned two delivery fees of $20. I told them that I should have only been charged one delivery fee of $20. The first girl never did credit me the $20 as she told me she would. They are a bunch of liars and will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Stay away from this company!!!

You would think that a highly recognizable company like Republic Services would try to work with their customers. WRONG. I wished I had read all of the complaints but assumed the above. Never again. I canceled my service on 3/31/17 because I was moving and had my containers picked up on 4/6/17. I was billed for March, April and May. I paid for March but continued to be harassed to pay April and May. I have already been sent 2 letters from a collection agency with FINAL NOTICE and demanding payment immediately. I wrote several letters to Republic, gave then my new address twice and they still send these notices using my old address.
Like other reviews you can expect at least 30 minutes on hold and DON'T fall for their bait of if you would like a return call in the order you are in line, you will never get it. Also beware of the containers pick up fees. This is the same as 3 months of regular service. The garbage can is $22.00 and the recycling can is $27.00. What a complete ripoff. As far as the trash collection service I never had a problem. It is all customer service. All of this was over a six week period.

I have over the last 15 years used Republic Services for my trash removal and never, ever had a problem. If I changed a room around and threw out an old chair, washer, dryer... they took it. Something large, they took it as I paid the higher rate for that privilege. So this week I called as I threw out a couch that I broke up and a chair. They call me back and said "They took the maximum and I have to pay $45 per piece of bulk." I'm like what!!
A year ago you took a large lounger. When it wasn't taken with the regular trash I called and was told as long as I gave a heads up, it was fine and they would send another truck in a couple days because I pay for it. I'm paying a higher rate for that!! She flat out said "No we never, ever did that." Liars... They changed something to my account that I did not catch without notification to me. Still arguing with them. Hoping to find an old copy of invoice in my files to show them I always paid for that privilege of bulk item pick ups.

I cancelled because I was being charged $112 for 3 months of service. I went to a different provider and am being charged under $40 for 3 months. I guess the $45.90 is one last way to stick it to me. After more than 5 phone calls concerning the matter, I finally got someone in Customer Service to admit that we didn't have the dumpster and that the severe overcharge was due to an error by their company.
Still several months after this initial admittance of their record-keeping error, my business has still not received our due refund. I continue to call a couple of times a week and get the runaround from various customer service reps, all with promises to call me back after checking with a supervisor. Worst customer service ever. I cancelled my service and then got a bill for $83.49. $33 each to pick up the trash can and the recycle can, $12.24 for a fuel surcharge and $5.25 for an administrative fee. This is outrageous. I will relate this story every time I talk with someone and the word trash is mentioned.

Basic facts: Always on time. Found cheaper service from local family. Scheduled account cancellation before end of current invoice period. Their container was not picked up until days AFTER it was scheduled and into the next invoice period. Customer Service rep tells me at time of cancellation to disregard invoice. There will be nothing due. So after all this I get a "final invoice" that includes partial credit for the previous invoice. I'm still charged "Administrative Fees" because as the rep told me "that is charged anytime an invoice is generated". Almost $6 just for a computer generated invoice!
So to cancel my account BEFORE the next invoice period I basically had to pay: Container pickup fee for them to get THEIR container. Partial service fee for the period in which THEY left their container past the new invoice period. OH, get this one...a.45 late fee for the invoice I was told to disregard. Administrative fee for this invoice for them to recover THEIR container. Fuel recovery fee. Environmental recovery fee??? It cost almost a full month of service to actually discontinue my service.
Basically, as customer service and satisfaction go, Republic are money grabbers. It appears their major concern is greed and likely because, from my understanding, they are either uncontested in a lot of areas or they are the "big dog" on the block. If I could have given them zero stars, or negative stars, I would have. Speaking with the customer service rep gave me the impression that she had no empathy whatsoever for any of my concerns and was basically saying 'just pay it because we charged you'. If you have the opportunity to choose a more homegrown trash service, even if a little bit more (mine was actually about $1 less a month), I would highly suggest it and if at all possible turn and run from Republic Services. If you've seen the recent commercial with the little girl selling lemonade and charging all the extra fees, well that is just like Republic. Steer clear.

I have been using this company for approximately 14 years for their container service. I had an account that I required 4 dumps per month. I paid them on time for the duration of the required service. I called to cancel my account with a 30-day notice. Initially upon my phone call to cancel service I was told that the container would be picked up (March 30, 2017), and I thought that was the end of it. When the container was not picked up, even several days later that I was told, I place another call to Republic, at which time I was informed I had another 3 years left on my contract because I called to have my monthly service rate reviewed. I had them review it because they increased their rate substantially. The sales rep appropriately reduced my rate slightly, and there was no discussion about a renewed contract. The sales rep they would send me (email) a copy of a contract that I signed which I never received.
Republic continued to send out a truck to dump the empty container. I received only one return phone call from a supervisor that said I was tied into a contract, and the general manager would call me within 24 hours. The call was never returned. I made one final call today 4/17/17 to let them know I have changed my bank account so they would no longer be able to access payments, and I will have the container removed myself if they don't pick it up. I just went online to discover this is a normal practice with cancellations after reading the reviews. There are many container companies out there and if you are thinking of getting one, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Republic Services will try to rip you off when you attempt to cancel.

I have been complaining to the household waste services that they are illegally pyramiding late fees on my account. This is done by Republic Services by adding an additional late fee for the same payment period in success months such that late fees equal original servicing fees. In the past they also would lien property tax for payment and continue the amount due on their invoicing so that they would and could bill twice for the same service. I'm out hundreds of dollars. A few years back, when I complained, the City of Richmond finance person told them their practice was illegal yet they continue to do this to me and hundreds of other homeowners serviced in Richmond, California. When I called customer service (first attempt: 16 minutes wait, second attempt: 12 minutes) looks like they don't have anyone who actually responds to your call. I don't know what to do. The last letter says that service will be discontinued from next week.

Recently canceled service as I found that Waste Connections was $100 less per month and I wouldn't continually be harassed by the workmen begging for tips and asking why they didn't receive a Xmas gift from the owner of this company. I was fed up, did everything correctly to cancel, sent certified letter asking them to pick the cans and that I wish to cancel service. I gave them 2 months notice. I just received notice that they pulled monies for service I ended. I see this has been a complaint by others as well. They may be more reasonable than many other companies, but don't be sucked into service with them and don't do any long term contracts unless they guarantee on contract that price can not be raised more than a certain percentage within that time period.

As I read through the reviews of Republic, I see the same complaint over and over again... which is the same complaint I have. They seem to think cancelling a service is a way to make more money. I moved into my new home in October. I contacted Republic to start service. I found out that Republic was not one of our preferred service providers in our subdivision, so I called and cancelled. I got invoices for $75 for drop off container, pick up container, partial month service, service fees... and I never did or got anything from them. I cancelled the service before a container ever was delivered. So now after 6 months and 5 phone calls each month, I'm being contacted by a collection agency. How do I stop this insanity? My next step is to contact an attorney, and file harassment charges against them.

I signed a contract with Republic for 1 year and I had the same problems that everyone else on this site had (late OR NO pickup on scheduled days). Even so I kept the account for about 4 years and the original contract started at $65.00 monthly. By the end of the 4 years I was paying $148.00 per month. I Told them to pick up their container since we did not have a contract. The lady told me that I could only end the contract at certain times of the year. I explained that we had a 1 year contract and they should pick up their container because I had another trash service. She refused and told me that they would continue to charge me rental fees on the container. So I had to rent a U-Haul and return their container.

Unreliable service and inconsistent charges. I feel like this garbage service is holding me hostage and it doesn't matter how good my negotiation skills are with Republic. I am still a captive of this trash problem. Our dumpster is always full and I have bags of trash in my garage #HailSeason #Garage4CarsNotTrash. Our alley is in excellent condition and has been every week except one since January. We have been missed more weeks than picked up. I am tired of calling to complain, I cannot stomach any more excuses and I don't need an apology (although one would be nice). I just need a solution to this. I don't see any effort on Republics part to "make this right" and provide us some sort of option. It seems as if because it doesn't affect them on a personal basis they just don't care. Does anyone have any other trash company recommendations?

We canceled our trash & recycle pick up with Republic Services because we got a better rate with a local company. I paid the balance we owed and thought I was done, but then we received another bill of $30.47 to pick up containers. We have switched trash providers before and have never been charged for container drop-off or pick-up fee before. I told them we would not pay this ridiculous fee and the company said they would turn us over to collections if we did not pay. I called Better Business Bureau and they said I could file a complaint but if that is their company policy, there is not a lot we can do about it. We will never do business with this company again!!

I was later billed in January for an attempt to collect the recycle bin. I called willing to pay if I needed to, but was told since I cancelled services on 12/2/16 that they would credit my account and I would not owe. I then received a letter from a collections agency on 3/4/17 trying to collect $115 from not paying a bill with Republic Services. I immediately contacted Republic where I spoke with Cecilia and she told me I had a CREDIT of $8.96 on my account and I should have not been sent to a collections agency. She told me she was sending an email while I was on the phone with her to Republic billing dept. and she told me to call back in a couple days.
I called back on 3/9/17 and was told they did not see a credit and "Cecilia" never put notes in on 3/4 or back in January! Since there was no documentation on their end the supervisor told me it is owed and I have to deal with the collections agency. This is a "company" that needs to be shut down and ran out of the country. I'm a customer in Wayne County, Michigan. I have a small business and had a dumpster through this garbage company - big mistake! I've had their rusty dumpster out in front of my business for seven years. They claimed I signed a contract with them back in 2010, I don't recall signing any contract with them at all as I don't like to be tied into any sort of legal obligation without any good reason. My monthly charges started out at $58 per month, which has been steadily going up ever since 2010. My last bill in 01/17 was $109 for the month, oh they have it padded with all sorts of erroneous charges like environmental fees, refreshment fee $9? etc.
I tried quitting them a year ago and they never did "call me back". That's what they say when you want to discontinue their fraudulent scammer service, they'll have someone call you, they never call unless you threaten them with legal action. Don't call us, we'll call you BS. I tried quitting them again back in 11/16 and they never called then either. In 01/17 when I threatened them with legal action, one of their snide, sarcastic "account specialists" called and informed me that I couldn't quit as I had a contract with them. They said "we have your signature on it and you're locked in for another three years".
These SCAMMERS roll you in to a contract without your knowledge and renew it every three years without your knowledge and then try to hold you to it, I'm quite sure that is ILLEGAL. I told these people I simply want to quit, they threatened me with the balance of the contract ($3924), I told them what they could do with their contract and we could let a judge decide that if they wish. They said, "well there is a balance on the account for the last month" which they didn't render any trash pickup service whatsoever. I requested that the last month's charges be removed as we weren't using it and I had already informed them of that and for them to come pick up their dumpster. They said they would. They are liars. They did pick the dumpster up in a few days. This morning I open a letter from a collection agency dunning me for the last month. These SOB's turned me over to a collection agency damaging my credit score.
Allied/Republic needs to be investigated by State/Federal authorities for fraudulent business practices. Price-gouging, entrapment and fraud. I should have known with them operating under two different names, they were typical thieves operating under an alias. Judging by the reviews here, they've burnt many people. What are the authorities waiting for? P.S. Just found out the $9/month refreshment fee is for painting the dumpster, the bent up rusty POS dumpster, I was paying $9 a month for them to keep it looking nice? What a joke these people are.

It started with the break-down of the vehicle that we used to transport trash to the dump. Could not find a local company to pick up trash because we are rural. Finally find out Republic can do it. I go online to sign up in September. I got a stock email that someone would contact me in 24 hours. Over a week passed before I tried again. Same email. Three days later I called in. They set up service telling me they would drop my trash container in 5-7 days and my pickup day would be a Monday. 10 days later we still have no can. I email them. I get a response. It should be there in a couple of days and pickup will be on a Friday.
We are now a month into this process and my trash is piling up. Every three or four days I call in and each time it's something else. They don't know why I don't have the can. Once someone got hateful with me (I'm always nice to them) and said it takes more than a couple of days to get the can. It had been a couple of weeks by then.
It was the end of October before we got the can after it took them a week to find my house which by itself was ludicrous. Three miles from the interstate and one turn later our house is seen long before you get there, is the first house you see on our street, has the number on the house and the mailbox but they couldn't find it for a week. Oh, and the pickup day wasn't Monday or Friday. It is Wednesday. Right as we get the can we got our first invoice. They billed me for the month of October. It was literally the end of October when we got the can. We hadn't had service yet. I called and they acted like I was an annoyance but promised to credit the account.
Considering I had a month and a half's worth of trash piled up, the one can was not going to take care of the issue. I had asked for another can temporarily or a one time pickup of the extra trash. Every time I asked they acted like no one has ever asked for such a thing. They are a trash company and had no plan for how to solve this issue. It is the middle of January and it was today after numerous unanswered emails and unreturned calls that they finally agreed to pick up the extra trash. I have never encountered this level of incompetence and terrible customer service. If it wasn't for the fact that there's no other option for trash pick up, I would cancel in a heartbeat.

My former trash pickup service was bought out by this company. Since then, the price for pick up has steadily been going up! Past $30 as of this past year. During a rough time in September I was late on my payment. The company picked up their trash can in early October during the time my wife was having our baby. I went ahead and signed up with a local MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE service and called Republic to see what money I still owed. With no call back or further statements, I assume my account paid up.
Then three months later I receive a letter from them threatening to send my account to a collection agency! After several attempts I finally get a hold of a service rep who tells me I still owe money, including a trash can pick up fee AND a service suspension fee. The rep could not explain why they were charging a suspension fee on top of the other fees. I can understand having to pay for the labor and gas to pick up the can; but to ALSO charge a separate 'suspension' fee of $35 on top of that is ridiculous and makes no sense other than pure greed. So now, I am enjoying a much more reliable service from a Local 'mom n pop' service for only $21 per month!

The week following the Christmas holiday (so you know we had a lot of trash) my husband and I set the trash out at 430am that morning of our service thinking it was a normal trash day. So Wednesday came and went and our trash still stood (Now mind you, we live rural where there are lots of wild animals that would love to get into our trash. Not to mention it is colder than you know know what out here...NW Wisconsin). So we looked at our schedule and thought that maybe since we had a holiday on Sunday that they were running a day late. So we called and got someone in AZ I believe who reassured us that we were on the schedule and that they would pick up that day.
We waited and still no pick up so we called again. This time we got someone in NC advising us that would be picking our garbage up on Friday (Now our trash in the house is running over because we have no place to put it outside). So again we waited. At about 10am we called again just to be guaranteed pick up by 12noon.
Needless to say 12 noon came and went, at about 5pm we called again. This time my husband had had enough and was very upset and let the person on the phone know as much. This person proceeded to tell my husband that with the correspondence over the email between locations that we were said to be a no show with our can. So basically whoever came to get our trash said that our trash was not out on the curb. This was a flat out lie. That can had been out there for 3 full days. My husband let them know as much and continued to let him know that they had just lost our business to their competitors. This all could have been avoided but I do not appreciate being lied to, giving the runaround and then being called a liar.

She looked and said the driver said it wasn't at the curb. My can was out there since Saturday evening, I told her that wasn't true and that they just missed our street. Because it was a lie, I made a complaint and someone was to call me back, they haven't. I have an extra can (fairly new) that I just use for clippings. They came by Tuesday evening and crushed the extra can. It was a company with another name and she said it was also theirs and they weren't responsible for my cans. I have put it out before and there was nothing wrong with it. I asked to speak to a supervisor who was suppose to call within 24 hours and again hasn't. When they picked up my can, they left my neighbor's. We are the only two on the block who use them. They stink.

If you are one of the unlucky victims of having to deal with this company I would recommend running as fast as you can to look for other services. Not only do they change service agreements in the middle of the billing cycle they fail to pick up trash and recycle on a regular basis and fail to follow up. When they do pick-up they leave empty cans in the middle of the driveway, in flower beds or worse in the road. Calls to customer service are a waste of time as nothing they promise is ever carried out. The worst part is if they owe you money for any reason they hold it instead of refunding as they promise to do. This is the worse trash removal company by far in the last 30 years that I have had service with. Look at all the BBB complaints!

Since signing with Republic Services Waste Management our nonprofit organization has experienced fraudulent charges, been overcharged, had a rate increase almost every month, went without garbage pick-ups on more several occasion (then they tried to charge extra because they had to pick up on an "off day" to make up for the day THEY missed), have had our driveway and drain pipes damaged by the dumpster driver, have had to twice move the edge of the dumpster off of the road where it was placed (after being dumped) in a very dangerous location to automobile drivers, and have had to pick up trash strewn all the way down the road from the dumpster truck driver's sloppiness. I have called their office numerous times to try to resolve these issues but your hold times of 45 minutes to 1.5 hours are outlandish. (The IRS actually answers the phone faster than Republic Services.)
We tried to switch companies only to find out that we were locked into a 3-year contract. So we decided to downsize the dumpster thinking we would save a little (and also be able to push it out of the road more easily on dumping day). But, switching sizes of dumpsters actually locks you in to a new 3-year contract. We are now in the process of sending a certified letter to the company (which they require) in order to cancel our contract. Republic Services is just one irritating thing after another after another after another. Bottom line - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Ending service after 13 years - 10/3/2016 spoke to customer service Shawna and manager Amy. Stopped my service a month ago due to moving out of state. Was told I would receive refund for months not used and then get a bill to remove containers which was never disclosed and we are being billed for it now. Customer service and management were very rude and unprofessional. We have had consistent overcharging billing issues that takes months to clear up, and if you wait for a credit they interrupt your service for nonpayment. They are not willing to work with their customers. I have never been treated so poorly. Also, being charged for pick up of containers that are still at the residence. My advice is to steer clear of them.

Our church canceled service with Republic when their competitor offered to take over the waste service. Unknown to the competitor, they were bidding our service at 1/3 of the cost of Republic. After checking previous bills, I discovered that Republic had been increasing our bill approximately $50 per month for the previous months. I contacted the Republic representative to cancel service, and ended up in an argument in trying to end service and have their container removed. Robert, the rep, stated that ALL charges had been paid-up by us, and that the can would be removed.
During the next three weeks I placed other calls trying to get the can removed, because I did not want to get into an argument on the can being used. Our church is a public place, and people have dropped their trash off into the can when we are not here. Many phone calls, very long wait periods on the phone, a few people that always told me what I wanted to hear and one terse email to Robert... the can was finally removed, and we did receive a bill for that month. I called and informed Republic that we would not be paying it, and they agreed with me.
Today I received a bill for removing the can. $213.01!!! As far as I am concerned Republic is dishonest and conniving in the way that they do business. We entered into a "fixed rate" contract with their competitor, and when I mentioned this to Republic, their response was, "You didn't ask for that!" I didn't ask for it with our new service, but they offered our church, who needs fixed bills due to fluctuating donations, a good deal. Republic just wanted money. I do NOT recommend using this service... even if they are the only one in town.

We are a 55 and older community who signed up for their trash and recycle disposal. We have been loyal customers of theirs for 14 years. Every 3 years we sign a contract with them at a very low rate and it slowly creeps up until it is double what we signed up for. We recently decided to cancel with them and they want to charge us 500 dollars to remove the bin, and $1,270 for "liquidated damages." They are stealing from old people and trying to hold us to a contract that is completely illusory. It's criminal what they are doing. If you do sign a contract, and do not send certified mail to them 60 days before the end of the term, it automatically renews you for another 3 years. Do not fall for it! Do not sign up for them. You will regret it immensely. It is a huge headache to cancel, and a tremendous waste of money.

At the end of July 2016, my trashcan was taken from outside my residence. I called Republic Services to order a new one, and the lady I spoke with was very pleasant and said it was on its way. 2 months, 6 phone calls with 6 different representatives and 1 supervisor later, I still do not have a new trash can. Every time I have called, the representative is very nice, but ultimately not helpful. Allegedly, multiple "cases" have been submitted, but every time I call, they have no record and are "appalled" at how long this process has taken. I have offered to come pick the trash can up myself, but was told "I don't even know where they come from".
This has been a completely absurd and unnecessarily lengthy process when they are at my residence once a week to pick up the rest of my street's trash, and when the representative told me they are in my area each day of the work week so it "shouldn't be a problem". Keep a close eye on your containers... if they mysteriously disappear, it will be a hassle to get a new one. I never even received a recycling bin, but I am so burnt out from the trash can, I won't even pursue that endeavor.

I have had 3 different experiences with this company in the last 3-4 months. The 1st issue happened when I placed trash in front of my home and everything was picked up except one bag... apparently deemed too heavy and not worth picking up. I left it out there and luckily the following pick up day they took it. The second time, I had my trash out in bags and in my trash can and nothing was picked up. All my neighbor's stuff had been taken, except for mine. I called and the first thing the woman on the line asked was how it was out there and how many bags I had in an accusatory tone. I explained and they arranged a pick up.
Most recently, I moved out of my home and left a lot of trash outside but took the time to make sure it was organized in boxes, bags and in my trash can. My neighbor text me that they didn't pick up any of it! I called and explained to the agent I had moved out of state and needed to request pick up since they missed my home again. When I told her there were boxes she said they would not touch any of it because of the boxes (which if this is the case maybe you should do a better job at informing the community of your rules). I asked her if there could be any exception since I am no longer there and can't do anything about it. She flatly said "No, we can't make exceptions." This was upsetting... would they just leave the trash out there indefinitely or wait for it to fall onto someone else's shoulders? So rude and unhelpful!
Stumped and bothered I got off the phone to contact my neighbor which needless to say was an uncomfortable request. Luckily my neighbor was beyond kind enough to bag up my trash. I called today to inform the agent (who based on her voice I believe to be the same as the day before), I told her that my neighbor had bagged the trash and that it was now ready for pick up. I also informed her I called the previous day. She then proceeded to tell me that my scheduled pick up days are Monday and Thursday in my old neighborhood (which thanks... I know, I lived there for a year!).
So I explained again that it wasn't picked up the previous day and my neighbor had bagged it so it didn't have to wait 3 days. She said it would have to wait til Thursday regardless. She wasn't helpful at all and had a snotty tone. I felt like she was annoyed I'd even ask! Between the inability to regularly pick up trash, the rude customer service rep and the inability to be understanding after I moved to a different state, I absolutely rate this company 1 star!

I recently moved to the country and had trouble finding a trash service. I called Republic Services and left a message that I needed a quote for their service. A week later I received an email that said the charge would be $27.42 monthly for a once a week service. I then called them and told them I would like to set up a new account. During the call, I was never told that there would be additional fees charged each month. It took 2 weeks to receive the toter that they insist you use.
The 1st month's bill was over $50.00 but since I didn't receive an invoice, I had no idea what I was being charged for. I paid it because I figured there would be extra fees the 1st month and I didn't worry about it. The 2nd month's bill was $44.00. I called to find out why they had extra charges on my bill and that no one informed me that I would receive these extra fees. The next day I called to cancel service and thought that would be the end of it, but it wasn't. 1 week later, I had a message on my phone from a supervisor stating they would like to offer me a lower monthly rate to offset some of the extra fees. I called them and asked what lower rate amount they would like to offer and she said $22.00 a month rather than $27.42. So, they wanted to offer me $5.42 savings??? I said that doesn't seem to be much of a savings to me and that I would just rather stick to my cancellation from July 1st.
By this time, it was already July 14th. She said she would cancel the service and I said, the service was already cancelled July 1st and she said, "No your account is open and active and that the last bill will be for half of the month of July. I said, "NO!!! I cancelled 2 weeks ago!" So then she said, "Ok, we will not charge you for July but we do have to charge you $35.00 to pick up the toter we delivered to you!" Why should I have to pay for the toter that they wanted me to use? I could have just used the trash cans that I already own! I put the toter out for them to pick up on July 21st. I received a letter from them that said they came by to pick up the toter and it wasn't available for them to pick up and that they would charge me $75.00 if it wasn't picked up or brought to them by July 29th.
I called and spoke to customer service and they said they put it back through for them to pick up and that I shouldn't be charged. On July 29th, I called again to be sure that this was all taken care of and that I would not be charged $75.00 and customer service acted like this is the 1st they have heard of it! She told me the pickup was scheduled for August 3rd and that there would be no charge. I am not sure that this is over yet. We will see. I would not recommend using this company if you have a choice. The customer service is unacceptable in my opinion.

When I opened my business in 2010, I was required to switch my residential account with Republic Services to a commercial account. In 2010, this company had all their containers and the rates associated with them available online and it was easy to determine what size dumpster I would need and how many days a week I would need pick-up service. After careful consideration of the options available, I chose a 4 yard dumpster container, along with pick-up service 2 days a week, for a quarterly-billed amount of $600 + a nominal container charge. I had to call customer service to formally execute the contract. (This service is no longer available online. You have to call them for assistance.)
For 6 years Republic Services, with the exception of a few missed pick-ups, regularly emptied my dumpster 2 days a week...until a few weeks ago when I noticed that it was only being picked up once a week. I called customer service to report a missed pick-up day. The CS rep said they would send a truck out that day to empty the container, which they did. The next week the container was only emptied once. I called CS again to report another missed pick-up. This time I was informed that I was only scheduled for one pick-up a week.
I told the rep that wasn't correct, I had signed up for 2 pick-ups a week in 2010 and they had picked up 2 days a week for 6 years. That's when, "the trash hit the fan", so to speak and the CS rep started to get a little annoyed. She told me that even though I had requested service once a week, sometimes their drivers would pick up containers more often, if they were in the area, so I was actually lucky that this had been happening for so many years. After hanging up, I figured I had better check into the matter further.
Later that day, (Friday June 17th) I went online to the Republic Service website to review my account and was surprised to find that this company literally makes NO information available to their customers, other than the customer's name, service address, any past due amounts owed, the current amount due and a payment history that only shows the last quarterly payment. You have to call them for "assistance" if you want any other info regarding your account, or anything else. It wasn't possible for me to review what services I had previously, when/why/how those services were modified, or who it was that actually modified/updated/made changes to my account. If I wanted to know more, I had to either fill out a request form and state my issue, or call and speak to an account representative. I filled out the online form, stated my problem and hit send.
Monday morning, (June 20th) a Republic Services account rep called to inform me that she had thoroughly reviewed my account and investigated my issue. I was once again informed that their records indicated that I had only requested pick-up once a week and the amount I was being charged was consistent with that. I told the rep that their records were wrong, because before I switched my residential service to their commercial service in 2010, I had spent a considerable amount of time comparing what they had to offer with what I could afford. Because of that I distinctly remembered ordering the 4 yard container and 2 pick-up days a week, as I knew that one day a week would not have been adequate for my needs. The rep asked if I had a copy of that agreement and I said, "No, it was all done over the phone and a hard copy was never made available to me."
After a long pause, (so long that I thought the call had actually been disconnected) she sighed and said she'd have to ask customer service if they had the initial agreement. (How this woman, "... thoroughly investigated my account..." without referring to that document is beyond me.) I told her that would need to be done in order to move this issue forward. She sighed heavily again, then haughtily replied that she'd contact CS to see if they had a copy of the agreement and then get back to me.
That was 2 days ago and I really don't expect to hear back from them. It's standard procedure for them to claim the agreement says 1 day a week, or say they have no agreement on file. They are aware that this will leave me unable to prove otherwise. Apparently, they don't have to provide customers with hardcopy of the agreements, or make details of accounts available online for customers to examine when problems arise. This company knows the only remedy customers have is to take them to court, which costs more money than the average customer can spare. If a customer does manage to get them into court and wins, it's well documented that Republic Services retaliates by placing liens on homes for non-payment, whether it's true or not. They get away with this over and over again!
This company has been allowed to run rampant for FAR TOO LONG! The issues I've had and those I've heard from other Las Vegas residents indicate that local management does whatever they can get away with in order to squeeze more money out of us, including physically altering contracts and changing the terms in agreements. This company has a government contract in Las Vegas, so they are a monopoly and are accountable to no one...a fact they use to their advantage with impunity!

I did not appreciate the accusatory tone that I got from Terra, the service representative, that we did not put the bin out by 6 am. Even when she told me that the charge can be removed based a dispute, she still insisted that we were at fault. The unprofessionalism displayed by your service representative was really uncalled for. I called to complain about her the following week, and I got the same type of treatment from the supervisor, Angela.
Just because this company is the only company that service my area, I do not think anyone should be treated like unfairly and unjustly. 3 weeks from the incident of extra charge, I got another missed collection, and again I had my bins out the day before. I truly believed that they have an on-going issue, but is afraid to address it.

Republic's introductory letter assured us that they would continue the Pay As You Throw program as run by our previous company.
The deal was to include every other week recycling pick up at no extra charge. Instead, we were billed what amounted to an additional charge of $14.50 per recycling pick up. We were also billed an additional $30 for delivery of a recycling container. That fee was undisclosed both in their advertising and by their representative at the time we ordered the container. We also are being billed another $30 fee for pick up of a recycling container that we didn't have for a pick up that never occurred.
I have made 3 lengthy phone calls to resolve the bills. According to the Pay As You Throw plan, we owe nothing. I am assured each time that the fees have been waived since they were undisclosed and that the charges for pickup have been removed. What I get instead are suspension notices and letters threatening to send the "unpaid" bill to a collection agency, which would negatively impact our credit.
Today I received yet another suspension notice in the mail for our "unpaid" bill. I will have to waste yet another 30 minutes of my life on the phone in an attempt to resolve the issue. They refuse to respond when you file a complaint. I filed two complaints with the BBB on this company, somehow with so many complaints against them they still manage to have an A-plus rating with the BBB which is just ridiculous. If the BBB would actually look out for the consumer instead of the company it would save a lot of people a lot of trouble. Most people don't look past the rating to see the large amount of negative reviews on the company. There is honestly nothing good to say about Republic Services. They constantly do not pick up our trash. They do not pick up trash if it is a light drizzle. They sometimes only pick up the county trash bin and leave our personal trash bins full. I have requested twice now that bulk items be picked up. The first time they told me they couldn't pick up the small wood table I was throwing out until I called back to complain. The second time I scheduled for a small couch to be picked up and they never showed up! The worst part is they only pick up bulk items one day a week and the day all depends on where you live. Ours is Mondays so old couch literally sat in the Florida heat and unpredictable rain for two weeks!
The neighboring county I use to live in had a wonderful trash service. I honestly just want to cancel Republic Services and start delivering my trash to the dump myself. At least it would actually get there. It is the drivers I have the biggest issues with. Just being lazy! If you can't do your job right then go somewhere else. Back in the day the garbage men actually got out of the trucks and dumped the trash. They have a mechanical arm that does it and they still can't get the job done. Any other company would be looking into all these complaints and managing their employees better.

This company constantly increased my rate every year since the day I started using them. When it got to $750/month for dumpster service, I called to see if we could get it lowered. They dropped it to $250/month. So I had been overcharged by $500/month for several years. A couple of months after the rate reduction they tried to increase it by about 20%. I called and complained and they dropped it back down. Now they have added a "container refresh" fee. That is where they charge you $9/month and will come out once a year to swap out your container. Since the normal charge of swapping a container was $85 this seems like a bad deal. I am about to go to battle with them over this. I wish there was another company in my area that I could deal with. Republic would never see another dime of my money.

Undoubtedly, the worst Waste Management company in existence. Ever since the city of Jacksonville FL has hired this company, the service has been bad. The fees are charged to the citizen on their property taxes so there is no way to get a refund for loss of service. Filing complaints with the city and Republic's site has not resulted in one return call or email response.
I live at the end of a dead end street with very little turn around area. Most large trucks back down so they don't have a problem turning around. This hasn't been a problem until Republic took over our service. I have a manicured lawn with an in-ground sprinkler system. The driver continues to back up into my yard, at least 15 feet and maneuvers back and forth until he gets the truck turned around, but not without cutting huge ruts in my yard, breaking numerous sprinkler heads and lines. When this first started, I confronted the driver and he said he wasn't doing anything wrong and continues to do this every week. My front yard is a disaster, broken sprinkler system and a beat up mailbox.
I called the manager and he came out and first thing he asked, "can you prove our driver did this?" At the time I couldn't prove it other than my word. Republic did nothing, they continue to ignore my complaints and the driver continues to turn around in my yard. I just installed a outdoor video camera and now have 3 videos of him doing this. I plan to have an eye witness outside next week to verify what's happening. I will be filing a lawsuit against the City of Jacksonville and Republic Services. I will follow up with the results.

I'm very, very unhappy with Republic Service, this is the worst service ever. Last month their service workers came to my home to remove the trash and along with the trash bins they made their own decision to remove my $200 grill that was covered under a tarp. I have called the local office several times and received no callback. It wasn't until I had physically go to the local office twice before I was able to speak to someone. However the supervisors over the workers did acknowledge that he spoke to their drivers and they did state that they took it and now it's in many pieces. I told the supervisor that I want my grill back or replace it. He stated that he will have call me back himself later that afternoon.
Lo and behold I get a phone call back but it was from the customer service supervisor. We spoke about what happen and how could they fix this, well I stated that all I want was my grill back or replace it. He suggested that he could credit my 1st bill. I stated that it was not an option no way. I stated that anyone as well as himself would feel the same way. He tried to push it back on me trying to make it my fault, no way. He then stated that he will have to talk it over with the other supervisors and will call me back within 24 hours. Well guess what? I'm still waiting on that call. All I want is my grill replaced. This is not my fault. You cannot go on people's property and just trash what you "THINK" is trash. I want to go to the top with complaint, it's the principle behind this. Do anyone have any suggestions on how to get to the corporate on my situation?

This company is the worst company that I've ever had to deal w/ as a business owner. I have to constantly police my garbage & recycling being picked up. Most weeks only 1 is picked up. Sometimes I call & they say the driver said they picked up when they didn't or they say the driver noted a problem but if that's the case why is the other service done? I still get charged for services whether they pick up or not. They always leave the gates open & have damaged the company van because of it.
When I call about issues they argue w/ me or plain lie about the service. If I'm late paying my bill I get a late fee & service interruptions & more fees that they won't take off my bill. Their rates are higher than most & this is why they insist on locking you in a 3 year contract & nothing less. Interestingly I'm in a 3 year contract & can't break service but they raised the rates because of a "clause" in the contract. Just a little bit of a one sided contract. Needless to say I will be cancelling my service. I would never recommend this trash service to ANYONE. Republic Services sucks!

This is the reason that people feel the government is corrupt. Because Republic Services has a contract with Clark County that gives them a monopoly, They are required to give no customer service and attempt to make charges whenever possible. They do as little communication as possible to trap you into charges because they know you are no recourse. When you attempt to talk to them, and explain maybe they would prefer not to have awful reviews and upset customers. They say we are a utility so we shouldn't have competition. Anyone that would allow open competition or a chance for other companies to provide better service would get my vote. Zero advertisement budget (because everyone is forced). Zero customer service hires (because what are you going to do.) Zero intelligent management (because why pay someone smart when dumb work for cheaper).

Apparently our bill was paid late this past summer but in September we started getting an invoice for $25 suspension fee, though we had now paid our bill which covered services until June 2016. I attempted to pay the bill via the number on the invoice - didn't work and also set up an online account which didn't work. My service stopped in November and at that time I tracked down a customer service representative. First I explained how I was confused with charge and that I had attempted to pay the bill. At this time I am now being charged $50. She said "you only owe $25 and you are paid through June."
Well December I got a bill for $25 again. Talked with customer service and explained that I paid in November. She said "you only paid $25," I explained that is what they told me I owe. She then tells me I owe $50 (because my service was suspended since the $50 wasn't paid). So I paid the $50 and told her this has been the biggest pain in the butt that I am going with another company when my contract is up - since I paid until June 2016. Well I once again received a bill in January for $25 and I noticed that my service has been suspended. Yet my bill has been paid in full and I paid all penalties that kept showing on my account... And my garbage hasn't been picked up in two weeks. This issue has yet to be resolved and will be filing a complaint with BBB.

I am ashamed to say that we remained a Republic Services customer way longer than we should have. After many years I cancelled our service at the first of the year. I was ASSURED that we would not be billed for the next quarter. Guess what? We were billed! I called again, and was ASSURED again it would be taken care of. Guess what? It wasn't. I had to get my bank involved to get my money back. The lady at the bank had much dealing with Republic and was not surprised. How many customers do they just keep billing without the customer realizing it? I'm sure they depend on just that happening. Crooks!
Also to take the cake. They were going to charge me $20 to come pick up the container. Really? Charge ME $20 to pick up THEIR container? I told them it could rot in the yard or they could pick it up for nothing. They were charging over $10 a week for one residential pick up. They made their money, a few times over. We went with a new company that was well under that cost, and was very happy to have the business. Too bad if you live in the city and have to deal with Republic because of a city contract. I'm sure they stick it them too. If you live in the county and have a choice, don't choose Republic. They don't deserve your business, nor are they thankful for it. Bunch of crooks.

Had a interview with Republic in June for a position with the maintenance manager and discussed the job and 2 weeks later he called me back saying that he wanted to further pursue with me. So I met with him and we came to a agreement on what we both wanted out of each other. So the day before my start date he calls and tells me to be at work in the A.M. for training. After my day of so called training he tells me to report to work the following day in the evening which is not what we had agreed upon but didn't bring up the issue.
A few weeks go by at work and I start finding out from employees and backup union steward that were never told to me in my interview that on holiday weeks we get the holiday off but work that following Saturday. Again no big deal. Extra overtime. There was a sign on bonus given for my position. A total of $3000. $500 given @ 30, 60, and 90 days then the remainder given upon 1 year service. Explained to me just as I stated then asked if any conditions were on the bonus as to which I was told none. It was given for time period of position being open.
On a day I had work I woken with a severe migraine for which I am on prescription medication for but was out due to lapse of insurance. I was unable to report to work so I had called my manager well before the time period the union contract asks for. I was told I would lose my bonus for taking a sick day for which was news to me. A few weeks go by and I am on lunch and the union steward asks me how I'm liking the job and I had told him it wasn't bad. Just got blindsided by a few things I wasn't told prior to hiring.
That following Monday comes around and the manager pulls me aside and asks if I could do my job a little faster like the previous guy. As I reply "yes I will do my best" seems as I have 3 screws in my foot and not even a year since I had surgery and when you're on your feet all day with a injury like that anyone knows it's not fun let alone lifting semi tires on top of that. About a week goes by and I am pulled aside and asked if I am looking for another job and I reply "no". The manager continues to say "if you are I'm not upset" and "what you do on your own time is none of my business."
A few days following that talk the night shift supervisor tells me I "need to work on getting my times faster." I get called in the office about a week after that and I am written up for not following job description and my union steward is right there with nothing to say. Now 3 to 4 weeks later I get called in the office again because the manager is a cussing me of not properly torquing wheels on a truck which they did not fall off. Apparently did damage to the wheels. Just the rear drive axle and not the front. And he had print out every truck I did that specific day but no other truck had problems and nor can he prove I didn't do my job and told him to look back on the security camera to see I had done my job.
Meanwhile the same low life steward sitting there with his mouth shut nothing to say whatsoever. Not to mention a fellow employee forgot to torque a wheel on a truck and fell off while the truck was on the road and he wasn't terminated. On top of that a different employee accidentally damaged a truck causing the company $5000 or more and was suspended for 3 days and his suspension was over him falling off a rolling ladder 2 day's after damaging a truck so he had 2 write ups within a week. Now you tell me how a company can write you up for getting hurt even when you followed all safety rules.
And that's not the only person I have known there to have their job threatened or be punished over a accident which wasn't the employees fault. And not even a month ago a employee was fired for failing a drug test and the same union steward I had represented him and they took it to arbitration. Obviously some favoritism is going on at the least not to mention failure to represent and unfair labor practices. So that is what brings me here. I have actually witnessed the horrible way this company treats its employees. And people go to work to provide for their families not to be harassed or discriminated against.

Don't try to call their collections agent and then try to talk to customer service, because you will get two different answers. I was told that I was paying for a month ahead when I caught my account up, and it turned out that month was actually only the last couple of days I. I assumed this meant September was taken care of and apparently this was wrong...because months are only a couple days now.
They frequently miss pickups and actually missed this month but when I explained this to their agent, I was told that they had put me on service interruption yesterday and even though they missed December pickup two weeks ago, they had no obligation to make that up to me or credit the month. Disappointed in this company...their customer service agents are nice but have no idea what's going on and their collections agent will give you whatever story she can to make up for her mistakes and will do so in a rude manner. UPDATED ON 03/02/2016: I had written a review concerning my dumpster rental service with Republic recently and they got a hold of me quickly, which was great. However, their customer service is terrible. I was able to get what I thought was the issue resolved with a suspension for a month as my husband is a seasonal worker. Apparently what I had thought to be set in stone was not and I was supposed to call to confirm the suspension, whereas I had thought that I was supposed to call to end the suspension. The communication is terrible, the customer service is awful and this is coming from someone who has been to Wal-Mart. Now I have a hefty bill and a service interrupt fee. I have been using Republic Services for 15 years for a small mobile home park I purchased. In the beginning the rate was $175/month. Over the years they regularly increased the monthly fee, at one point adding in a Fuel Recovery Fee. I stupidly believed these increases were due to their increased operating expenses. When it got up to $750/month I called to see about getting a rate reduction. They dropped it to $200/month and a Fuel Recovery Fee of $50/month. So I had in effect been overpaying $6,000.00/year for many years. And what did they do to make up for the overcharge? They gave me a $2,000.00 credit. And now, only 2 months after signing the new agreement, they increased my rate by over 30%. I am fighting it this time, now that I know what kind of company I am dealing with.
Anyone dealing with Republic Services, review your invoice. Do not consent to ANY increase in your rate. Dispute any increase in writing. They can only increase rates for valid reasons without your consent, but if you don't dispute the increase then your consent is implied. I would advise everyone to choose another waste management company. Unfortunately for me, they are the only game in town here.

I found a deal online through Republic services to get our trash picked up on a weekly basis. Signed up and received an email stating that they had received my info and we would receive the containers within a week. Everything was going well until we received our first bill only to find out that the $13.25 per month deal was not a deal at all. They also added Administration charges, container delivery charges on both trash and recycling and a huge fuel surcharge. Total for 3 months over $77. Nowhere close to $13.25 per month.
I called customer service to find out what was going on and they said they can charge me whatever fees they want and that I need to pay the bill. I told them I do not do business with people who falsely advertise and told them to cancel my service. I told him I would pay for what I had used during the cycle. No problem. He said to wait for a bill in the mail to see what the final charges would be for the partially used service. Nothing else was said except that they would be picking up the containers next week.
They ended up picking them up a couple weeks later. Thought everything was good to go until I received a bill in the mail on August 25th for pick up of the containers. $118.59 and $66.92 for the 1 month of service (first bill I had received for the final charges on the service). Bill pay set up for $66.92 to be paid by 9/19 when bill is due. But on Sept 3rd they send me a letter saying that I will go to collections if I don't pay within 10 days. First off, $118.59 includes charges to pick up containers x 2 x 2 (double charged) along with a $25.34 charge for fuel/environmental recovery fee and $3.25 admin charge.
The way this company does business is outrageous. Picking up and delivering trash cans is the cost of doing business. Now the people are walking the alley and are filling up all trash cans. Last week the same thing happened and you guys had to bring a truck with claws to clean up alley because people could barely get through from all the trash that was dumped. It looks like everything is bulk. Something needs to be done about this.

The absolute WORST company ever!!!!! So my pick up date is Tuesday for my area. Every single week I have to be calling in asking them to come and pick up my trash because the driver missed it! There are 7 other houses on the same street getting serviced but mine! And on top of that they take another 2 days to come out and get mad because the trash is overflowing, and when it falls they leave it on the floor! And now it has not been picked up for 2 WEEKS!!! I called and they said "within 24 hrs". It has been another 3 days and still nothing! I called again today and they said "unfortunately because of the holiday weekend it won't get picked up till tomorrow"... Neighbors' dogs are getting at it and I have to constantly go and pick garbage out of my front yard. I called about getting a refund for the month and they said "oh no, we can't refund your money and you have to pay $20 for us to pick up the can"... Crap service. Absolutely crap.

I spent over 3 weeks dealing with this company over trash pick-up. I made a payment online through their billpay for July. The transaction went through on my end, but Republic Services says (1 month later, and only because I called and asked) that the transaction was declined by my bank. I double checked the account, made a payment again in August, and lo and behold, it was refused again. I thought it was just a banking problem; turns out that Republic Services does NOT have a verified website, that they allow clients to accidentally add non-numerical numbers to their account #'s online, and that really screws with people. So, instead of Republic Services online billpay recognizing that the card # is invalid, they try to bill it anyways.
Once the billing has been auto-rejected by the bank, Republic Services does NOT contact you. They simply add a charge to the account for a bounced check. Yes, they call it a bounced check for a VISA TRANSACTION online. So, they charged my account $50 for a bounced check. I tried making the payment a third time on the phone with them. I paid $288 for two months of garbage services. Thanks to in large part because Republic Services online billpay allows for non-numerical #'s in the data entry field for accounts #'s, then bills the client a fee for every transaction that doesn't go through. That said, my biggest problem is that during these three weeks of service interruption, they didn't try to contact me at all to resolve the account or warn me that the transactions weren't going through. They simply stopped picking up my trash, and sent me a letter in the mail 2 weeks AFTER cancelling my service the bill for $288.
They refused to take off the bounced charges on my account. They also refused to pick up my trash or help me out after 3 weeks of no service in a house with 6 people in it. We have more trash in our home than can be explained by mere words. 1 month of no service (since they won't come pick up my trash for another 7 days, when they're next on my schedule to get my trash). Funny how I make a payment on my trash servicing DAY and clear the balance owed, despite the $50 BOUNCED CHECK fee, and they refuse to service a now restored and serviceable account.

We have never missed a payment or placed our trash on the curb late, yet this company failed to pick up our trash. We contacted them immediately and they wouldn't send the driver back to pick it up. We contacted them everyday for a week and everyday they told us they were sending someone out immediately. The complaint dept was completely unprofessional. Instead of fixing the situation they made excuses about why they didn't send someone out the day before. One day they claimed that the drivers truck broke down (apparently they only have one garbage truck) - all day long we can see their trucks passing by our neighborhood but none ever stop to pick up our trash.
We expressed that we have two small children in diapers and need to be able to place our garbage in cans b/c wild animals will tear up our trash. They continually lie and say they are going to fix this and 5 days later our trash is still piling up on the curb. Cannot even begin to express my dissatisfaction with this company and their unprofessionalism/poor customer service. Unfortunately no other companies pick up in our neighborhood otherwise I would pay double to have another companies service.

I took the time to cut and neatly pile the trimmings together. Per the official City of Sachse website I didn't even have to do this: Brush Items. Although it is not required, Republic Services prefers tree trimmings, branches and shrubs be cut and placed in bundles or piles that are manageable for picking up by hand and placing in the truck. If the tree or brush trimmings are too large, the claw truck will be sent to pick up the debris. The city of Sachse, TX needs to get another vendor!

So I try emailing... and that results in a form response and then phone tag. Also they stated they had made several attempts to contact me when they hadn't.
After about three months and much wasted time I was finally able to talk to someone who could fill in the mystery of what it showed on the bill. They are not upfront about their charges and that was part of the problem. She said they would credit me for the $20.00 charge for picking up their container but I, of course, won't be able to verify that till at least the end of this month when she said I would receive an invoice. Republic Services took over my previous company, Raritan Valley and soon after I began having difficulty with regular trash pick up. Service was often skipped and I discovered that each of us in the neighborhood was paying different prices. There seemed to be no honesty in the company. I continued with them even after my neighbors all switched to another company. Why? Mainly because the trash can was a large size and I have a lot of trash. But, service continued to decline.
Eventually it came to the point where they had switched my trash pick up day several times in a row and no one was coming to pick up my trash unless I called to complain that it had not been picked up as scheduled. They would say that someone would come out and they would within a day or two. As of last week, they have not picked up my trash for about 3 weeks despite numerous phone calls and messages. They say that they are coming "tomorrow or the next day" and they don't. They apologizing but never actually pick up the trash. I have switched to a new company but still need them to pick up the can (which is filled with trash).
They do not return calls and do not have an interest in losing my business or the business of the entire neighborhood. I was a customer for 10 years but was left with no choice but to change companies. I explained to them that I can't pay for trash pick up when they don't pick up the trash. Even still, they have not come for my trash or can despite 10 phone calls in the last 4 days. This company has simply become too large to provide good service. If you are looking for consistent service, I would suggest that you stay away from this company. You will spend more time dealing with them than it's worth. We never received a call. We rented 2 cars ($$$) & had 7 people show up Friday to get this dumpster loaded over the weekend. The dumpster was never delivered. Saturday we called to see what happened... They stated that they couldn't deliver the dumpster because the road was unsafe & that they called & left a voicemail (we never received any such call).

Finally spoke to a manager on call 6 where she explained that no matter what, the responsibility of it was ours. So we said we'd go pick it up ourselves. She called back the next day to say that the new renters were using it now, so we did not have to pay for the can any more - but we do have to pay for a $15 pick-up fee (even though IT WAS NEVER PICKED UP). I wish there was something I could do because I feel like they are operating a scam and holding my house and credit score hostage.

The city of Tiffin, Ohio recently contracted a local company to be the exclusive provider of trash pickup and recycling for all residential homes. A few days later, the company sold their business to Republic Services - Waste Management. For those of you who are not familiar with this company, it is not from Republic Ohio, it is a nationwide company. They are required to provide containers for their customers for recycling. I called to order my container nearly a month ago. A couple weeks ago, when they dropped a few off on my street and drove by my house without leaving one for me, I called them again. I spoke with a man who obviously has not brushed up on telephone etiquette, but finally said I would get a container that same day.
After waiting over a week and missing one pickup because I had no recycle container, I hauled my recyclables downtown and called the Mayor's office. They called Republic Services (are you keeping count, that is three calls now) to get a container. For today's pickup I neatly placed my recyclables in a small Allied Waste container and left a note explaining that I was still waiting for my container. The $2 bag is gone, but they left the recyclables. They told my neighbor that we should put the recyclables in the bags that they charge two bucks for. Sounds like a good business to be in, doesn't it?
After checking out Republic Services - Waste Management with a Consumer Affairs site, I found some horror stories about their customer service and their billing practices. Of the 60 reviews I read, fifty eight had rated them a 1 star (horrible) out of 5, and the two others rated them a 2 (dissatisfied). Maybe it is time for our city leaders who created this debacle put a recycled boot to Republic Services' rear end and re-bid the contract.

After starting services... they failed to bill me. Apparently they used the service address instead of billing address. (After telling them specifically to use the billing address I provided). When I contacted them to ask where the bill was, they said they had shut off service and would not restart till I had paid the bill along with late and administrative fees. After several phone calls they finally relented on the fees but would not start service till I paid - even though it was their fault.
The next bill included the late fee again and an administrative fee they said everyone pays. Well, along with a $45 deposit and a $35 can drop-off fee... and the poor customer service, I called other services to find out that Republic charges $10-$15 more for waste pickup than other competing services who do not charge a can pick-up/drop-off fee. I started another service and cancelled republic, now there is a $35 pick-up fee and they won't promise to pro-rate the remaining amount. I asked to drop off the can myself - they said no it’s a "Liability" (even though we move the can to the curb every week!). These people are awful - never again!

I switched to Republic not less than 6 months ago after being with another provider for 3 years. I responded to Republic's flyer in my mail advertising 48.00 with a container. This "rate lock" did not last. My March (2015) invoice is 57.00, an increase of nearly 40.00 a year! I called and was told that they incur costs, and so increases are normal. I get this, but I did not receive ANY notice and a 19% increase? I did not have a SINGLE increase in the three years I was with the other company, which was actually cheaper. I did end up getting an adjustment, however. The only reason I am satisfied at all with this company is because of the driver that operates on my route. Even if I forget to put my trash to the curb (I keep the container outside my garage), he gets the trash anyway.

We terminated our residential services for Republica Services in Las Vegas due to a move. Services were prepaid, which accumulated a credit at the time of termination. Although we were required to provide a forwarding address for any possible unpaid or additional fees incurred not billed prior to termination, we had to call again to verify our credit/refund. We called 4 times and was told that it had been sent to accounting to be sent out. This has happened repeatedly over the last 10 months. The representatives continue to say that a manager has been contacted to ensure the refund is sent but as of this message, no refund and been received and no refund has been sent by republic services

I signed up for republic services 2 weeks ago with the understanding that my recycling would be picked up weekly. I just received a letter informing me that the recycling pickup would be switched to every other week. This would be understandable if the reduction in service was accompanied by a reduction in rates but sadly this company thinks reducing the services warrants the same rate as before.

Horrible! Simply horrible! I called three weeks ago to set up residential trash pick up, and never received a can. I was told on the first call that it would be three business days. No can. Called a week later. I was told three business days again. Still no can. I called nearly a week later, and I was told that my account couldn't be found. They processed it again, and I was told... you guess it... THREE BUSINESS DAYS! Want to know the funny part? I still have no can! I called a total of six times!
I finally called the operations department after I was promised by the call center that I would have my can today. The operations department said they had me down for today, but it would most likely be tomorrow. I told them where they could stick their can! I called back to the call center and canceled my account with them. They are the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my life, and I have dealt with some really bad ones. If you have another option for residential waste disposal, USE IT! Stay far away from Republic!

I now live in Las Vegas and prior to this we had an account in another state. Republic posted my payments to my old account (which was paid off) and now they want to repost to the current account and giving me runarounds. They told me to call my bank and have them fix it. Unfortunately, we are all stuck with Republic Services since they are the only waste company in whole Las Vegas. This is monopoly which I didn't think would happen in America! Now I am in talk with the supervisor to resolve this concern.

I was a customer of Republic Services fka Duncan Disposal for 10+ years. There are the only service in our area if you live outside of the city limits. I had trouble over the years with them over the billing, missing weekly pick-ups, etc, so I was glad that I was moving to town and didn't have to depend on their bad service any longer. I called the middle of October to let them know that I was closing my account at the end of the month and I was paid through that time.
A couple of days later my dumpster was missing. They had closed my account early and picked up the dumpster. So they had to bring out another one for me to use through the end of the month. In January I received a FINAL NOTICE for payment of $72.73 which was the amount I had been paying per month. I called and informed them that I was paid up. Guess what...that was the "removal fee" which no one had informed me that I had to pay. So if you close your account, you have to pay a month's fee in order to have them pick up their own equipment.
As a side note: since they are such a wonderful company -- the container they had to bring out when they removed mine too early -- is still sitting there and I am told is emptied each week and no one is paying for it.

The container was too big for two senior. They do not have smaller, in January they raised their prices. I paid 35.00 to have container delivered. When I cancelled service, I received bill for 24.00. To have container picked up. This is unheard of. You were not permitted to drop off container on your own. When I called girl was rude and said the sales man told me this when I order service. He did not. She also said that's the way it is.

Do NOT sign up with this company. They are GREEDY and DISHONEST. Their contract is a 3-year contract with automatic renewal!! How they gouge you is by quoting a reasonable monthly cost but then adding "Fuel Recovery & City Tax" fee which they vary and increase without any warning. This company charges upwards of THREE times local competitors. I researched and found out the City Tax and Fuel costs are about 10% NOT 1000%.
RUN from them. Good luck trying to cancel your service, you get bounced around and for some reason only the Service Rep assigned to your account will answer any questions, yet all she does is try to gauge more money from you. I manage apartment buildings and am appalled at how this company conducts business. Several agents from our company have contacted Republic Services to inform them of an abandoned bin. They give each person the run around. The bin is now overflowing from neighbors discarding their waste!

We received a postcard in the mail promoting one month free service for a quarterly fee less than our former waste company. We signed up and cancelled our other service. A month later we received a bill for $30.89 for "Container Delivery." This is an additional fee no one mentioned when we signed up. This cost includes $20 for delivering the container, a $7.64 "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" (I suppose for the gas used during delivering the container), and then a $3.25 charge for sending us the bill!! What a SCAM! In all my 72 years I have never heard of a trash hauler charging for delivering their container, especially when it is a hidden charge they do not tell you about when sucking into their advertising. I will NOT do any further business with such a company!

Hellam township passed an ordinance in 2009 requiring all resident who use trash hauling to use York Waste. York Waste is a division of Republic Services. From the very first, they took 3 weeks to pick up the first time. I have made numerous calls to the company, they say they will correct the problem. I have twice now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Republic services is the worst trash hauler I have ever dealt with. I would like to fire them, yet with the township ordinance I can not.

We used to use another garbage company. Republic Services took over and as part of the process, had us sign some documents. Later when I tried to discontinue service, I found out that the "switch over" documents was also a 3 year contract! And we have to pay 6 months of fees to cancel. I still went ahead and canceled. The person on the phone said that he would waive the environmental fee and I could pay slightly less to complete the cancellation. I was glad, but then they sent the entire bill anyway. I called again and made a payment and as per the rep everything was taken care of and my account was closed. But I got another bill AGAIN for a new fee/charge.

Contacted Republic Services several times starting last Dec 14 about getting smaller containers, as I have rheumatoid arthritis and can not manage the behemoths they gave us. Not to worry every week, they told us it will be out next week. Here 5 weeks later, I talked to Bonnie at Republic Services, who was very rude and claim they don't even have smaller containers. Very rude company to deal with and sorry. They just assume that everyone can handle and in fact need their huge containers. In fact there is usually one bag in the bottom of the container.

I wish I could give them zero stars. Price increase after price increase. Very unethical business practices. Other services give quote for half their prices. Do not recommend them at all. They sign you to a long contract (5 years) with low initial prices & without you knowing they will increase your prices after a year or so in the contract.

Every time I received a bill for garbage pick-up from Republic, the price had gone up. I just received my January 2015 bill for $75.00. I called my neighbor and asked her how much was her bill. She said it was $58.00. I called Republic and was told that when I sign up for services, the price I was quoted was the rate available when I signed up. My neighbor consists of three people. They set their trash out every week, I am but one and I set my trash out every other week. WHY AM I BEING RIPPED OFF? I believe I am being ripped off because I am a senior citizen and because this company is a big rip off and can charge anything they want to charge!

My husband received a sales call with the promise that we'd get the first 4 months free and it'd be about $11/month for service. He was told we'd get a welcome packet with a contract to sign and they'd take care of ending our current garbage service. 4 weeks passed and we never received the packet. Instead we got a bill for 3 months. our old cart was still there with our new cart. I called to follow up on the whereabouts of the packet and to ask why our old cart was still there. Customer Service said they sent a "card" to our other garbage company and proceeded to tell me to contact them to follow-up because a lot of companies don't honor a competitor's end-of-service request.
The lady I spoke to seemed a bit defensive after I told her our welcome packet still hasn't arrived and we are not bound by any contract to stay with them if it's this difficult to transition services. Afterwards, I called and ended service with my old garbage company. I called Republic back to ask why I received a bill for 3 months when we were told we'd get the first 4 months free. The customer service lady was much nicer this time. She apologized and adjusted our account to reflect 4 free months, and said she'd will send out another welcome packet (supposedly the 4th one now).
Now, 4 weeks after that conversation, we received another bill saying our account is passed due, NO welcome packet with the contract received as of yet. My husband called and cancelled service right away. From the beginning of getting pressured into signing up to now with the "past due" bills, to the invisible "welcome packet" that was supposedly sent out 4x, it just didn't feel right. Lesson of the day: Don't let salespeople/telemarketers pressure you into services/goods no matter how great the price sounds; if it doesn't feel right, think twice about it. On another note, I will be going back to my old trash service: Garbageman, A Green Company. 2.5 years and no issues.

Our city switched from a municipal system to a nightmare "privatization" idea. Republic Services will only pick up one garbage container bin. Should you have any additional refuse or your lid does not fully close, they do not have to pick it up and in fact, will not pick it up. This is the first time in my 52 years that I have seen a garbage limitation. What happens if you have guests, or are just moving in, or moving out, Christmas time, or bought some large appliance? Too bad! Call the city and pay an additional $35 to have it hauled away. As if this garbage limit was not bad enough, Republic often neglects to actually pick up the garbage or recycling (which is limited to one pick up a month). Calling City Hall and demanding that they come back to pick up the missed stop and do their job will get you nowhere.
From the mayor on down, there isn't a soul in county or city government in the town of Brunswick, Georgia who is the least bit accountable for their actions. There is no accountability here and they know it. Call to complain about anything and you do not get any response. These clowns do not feel that they have to serve the community that pays their salaries or employs them or that they should care. Republic does a terrible job and often does not even do their job. Why bother when the city will not make them bother to perform of fulfill their contract?

Rude and unprofessional customer service. Now that I think of it, the entire organization **! There has been time were the trash does not get picked up until the following week. Customer services said no big deal it will be picked up the following week. Drivers don't pick up all the trash most of the time. Customer service said we will have it picked up in a few days. Driver continued to do what he felt like on the day of trash pick up either way. When I went to cancel my services, they did not prorate me the balance and kept the money. I moved a week before canceling services and several months later I received a bill for the trash can. Customer representative did not close the account and so the trash bin was never picked up that Monday. Three months later I am still fighting to have my account closed. The bin was taken from the house and they are trying to have me pay for it. The BBB was involved and Republic is not willing to budge. I even offered to pay for half of the balance. No response over a month now. Bad Bad Bad company!! Stay away from them if possible.
