    I put a complaint in to BBB because I spent several hours on numerous days both on hold for long periods of time and also with technicians and my issue never got resolved. Then after all that they wanted to send someone out so I would have to be inconvenienced again to be home in the time frame they gave. My response was I pay you for alarm service not for my door cam. Well, when I originally got the service through Protect America the door cam was a major part of me going with the service due to previous stalking issues so I am sorry but didn't appreciate that.

    I was very anxious due to the fact that it continued to not work and every time I would have to spend hours at a time on the phone trying to get someone. I just wanted to cancel the service. Your customer service is terrible and to think it wasn't even your company I signed up with. I unfortunately got stuck with Brinks when they took over. I tell all of my friends and family who are looking for alarm companies to not consider Brinks because of the customer service and inability to resolve issues in a timely manner.

    Had been with Brinks for over ten years. Received call from them 6 months ago with offer of a new lower rate because we are a good customer. They did not say anything about a contract or any restrictions with this new rate. Due to major family change, no longer in need of service. Called them and was told that I had to pay $200+ in cancellation fee. I did not sign for or agree to a new contract. They did not care even after explaining the reason for the cancellation. Customers be warn of deceptive practice by this company.

    Four and a half years ago, Brinks was the only one that could provide us with the fancy GC3 console and we did a purchase. Overall, the customer service people that answer the phone have helped us out in the first call. Very rarely have they had to send someone out.

    I would recommend Brinks to others. It's a good alarm system. The guy who came out for the installation did a good job. He was very fast and got it all done. We're satisfied with the system. I can check on it and see who's outside at night. If my husband hears anything, he could get on my phone and see if anybody's out there. They're also nice people that I've had to deal with to come out. They get to it and solve our problem right away. They don't beat around the bush. I couldn’t get the light bulb to work and they came out and fixed it. They were helpful and explained everything.

    We've been a Brinks/Monitronics customer for four or five years now. We had them in Virginia where we lived originally. Since we moved to North Carolina about four years back, we've had nothing but problems. It's been a nightmare. The most recent visit we had with them, we had some sensors that had failed. This was the first time in many visits that we had a Brinks employee come to the house. He was fantastic and restored my faith in the brand. We were waiting out our contracts so that we could go somewhere else because the service and the support have not been there. He assured me that they've done a lot of in-house hiring and there's a lot more in-house labor. Instead of having somebody come from three to six hours away in North Carolina, he can service me from his Virginia location. He took care of the problem and he's gonna come back. He upsold me some more cameras and some more security features.

    Now that I am getting the support that I need from Brinks, it's definitely great. The pairing with alarm.com makes things so simple and easy. I'm much more interested in the home automation and the fact that I can pair my garage door and my thermostats to my alarm.com app. It's not as easy as just clicking a button but the ability to have everything controlled on one central app on my phone is the selling point.

    There was another security company whose whole thing was, “We are cloud-based and automation-focused. We're here to take over your current contract and take over your current system.” They were running a special and had me call Brinks to find out what I owed left on the contract. They said they'd buy me out of my contract. I did call Brinks with the gentleman sitting right here. I asked the price to get rid of Brinks and it was like $1,200.

    This gentleman wanted to sell me services for 70 to 80 bucks a month. I called Brinks back up to find out what I was paying with them and my bill is either $20 or $30. It's significantly less than this startup guy wanted. I said, “If you want my business and you're gonna buy me out of my contract, you're gonna at least match the price. Otherwise, there's no value.” He looked at me and said, “I gotta pack my stuff up because I can't come close to your price.” Long story short, Brinks' price for the value is definitely there. I've had to fight for several years to get to where I am with our pricing and the setup that we have but what I pay, what services I have and what features I have in my alarm and automation, they can't be beat.

    A year or so back, I was fed up with Brinks and I called ADT. I said, “How soon can you guys get out, replace everything, and I'll pay the contract myself.” ADT was gonna come out and do the installation but their pricing was not where Brinks was. As upset as I was with Brinks at the time, I was not interested in paying double or triple what my current services are unless they plan on doubling or tripling the technology or the convenience or the cameras and make it worth my while.

    I'm excited to call Brinks back out, have a couple more cameras installed and continue to upgrade and build on my system. The more things evolve, the more things become one platform and one standard. Brinks is doing a great job of not only keeping up with the times but keeping competitive as well. Also, the coverage in this area was absolutely deplorable but that appears as though it has changed quite a bit, and it's done a 180.

    The system from Brinks has good quality and I like that I can see the cameras through the smartphone app and then use it wherever I am. The guy who installed the system knew his stuff but after it was installed, I got some emails saying the cameras had been deleted and that my email address had changed. So, I didn't know what that was about. I had to call them back and the rep reinstalled the cameras. She said she was able to see that some person had gone into the system and deleted it, and changed my email address. But she didn’t know who that person was or how they did it. She had the name of the person but I've never heard of him. It wasn’t the guy who installed it.

    Brinks technician service is the worst. I installed a new system a few months ago, it failed and I called Brinks. I spent more than an hour over the phone with a technician and finally he told me I need a tech at home to see what happens. He confirmed an app for the following day (today) and I was called again saying the tech is "busy" and I have to wait 8 DAYS for the next available... Horrible... Why do I have a new system if I'm without it for 10 or more days????

    Brinks' service is great. I wish there was a cheaper service because we barely use the alarm system. I'm stuck in this contract and I gotta pay it regardless. It would be great if they offered something for people who are on low-income. They'll give you like a few months for free, and then they prolong your contract. I tried to cancel but I would have to pay the extra amount because it's a contract.

    I live in a pretty secure neighborhood, overall. I have cameras on the outside of my house. There's normally somebody up during the night because of work schedules here. So, it works out. But we will put the system on every now and then. When I had got the service years ago, it was just me. Now, there are about seven of us, so it's completely different.

    I had signed a contract with Brinks security system for 3 years. My previous owner had it from them so I decided it may be good if I start a new system with them as well. Without activating my service they started billing me. I had numerous calls with them and the only thing they insisted, "You have a contract and you have to pay irrespective of whether the services are active or not." No resolution/no help on how they can solve the situation just you have a contract. I need legal help to take down establishment like this. No one called or explained on how services need to be activated. They just want your contract. It’s better to have no system than to go with a company like that.

    We’ve always had a home security system. We just wanted to go back to Brinks because we got switched to ADT when they weren’t in our area anymore. I called Brinks for service and they were able to get somebody scheduled to come out right away. Brinks could improve their hold time though because I think I was on hold for a while. The person that was sent came the same day as I had called. He was able to replace the broken thing and get it all working right away. We already had everything installed, and one of the sensors wasn't working. So, he replaced it. Call Brinks.

    About a decade ago, Brinks was the most well-known, and they came out this far. The customer service team at Brinks has been great so far. I hadn’t used the system in like seven years. I started leaving my dogs out when I leave the house if I go away for work. I'm out the house too long. I didn't know I could leave the motion sensor off. I didn't want the cops showing up and shooting my dogs, so I just didn't use it. When we had a power outage weeks back, I was getting alarms. The battery was dead but the guy came out and said it just needed to be charged.

    Brinks should really consider making those little signs that they put up. I don't understand how the company, Ring, is so new. They're a tech company and Brinks has been around a lot longer. Brinks should have a similar sign outside that lights up at night so bad guys can see them. Brinks could also reach out to their customers more often and say, “Hey, why aren't you using your system at all?” I get frustrated very easily with automated systems when I call the company. It’d be nice if Brinks could help work through some problems. They should do follow-ups with some new products. I'm looking at the products online, and they're expensive compared to a lot of other options out there. My friend was telling me I should just get my own type of security camera system instead of paying for the one that Brinks provided.

    Brinks could look at competitors a bit more and see what's out there since people are more tech-savvy and not so reliant on companies anymore. We can just buy a system, set it up ourselves, and do the redundancies in power and battery back-up. We’re not all that helpless when it comes to the tech part of it. But the security part of it is outstanding. That’s why I keep it. Also, Brinks has great people to speak with. I like speaking to every person I've ever spoken with at Brinks. The service that they provide is great. The people that they normally have are great. I'm satisfied.

    It was an ordeal due to the pandemic. I kept calling and never could get ahold of anyone. It says they have technical service Monday through Sunday but it wasn't there that day. They were closed. The system was out of whack for at least three weeks. It kept saying offline. The back sensor was not working. I finally got through and when I did get a customer service representative, he was very helpful. They had to send a technical support rep out here ‘cause it kept saying low battery. My sensor on my door doesn't have a battery yet. He recognized that immediately when he walked in. He put a new sensor up there and it works fine. He was great.

    I've had Brinks way back and I've always had good luck with it. This is an older system from Monitronics and it was poorly put in by Monitronics. They sent a contract person out and he didn’t know what he was doing. He tore into a hell of two holes in a firewall. I would assume that if you install a lot of systems, you would know that there's a firewall there. I don't like the system but it's gonna have to do because if possible, I’ll move.

    On Friday October 30 my alarm was set off because the door sensor fell apart, the equipment is less than 6 mounts old. When Brinks called me they did not have my correct number even though I moved and told them my number changed and gave them my new number. The only way I knew there was a problem is my daughter was texted by Brinks and she called me.

    When I called customer service they told me they would send me a new sensor for the door, I told them I was a senior citizen and did not feel comfortable doing it and getting on a ladder. She then said that I would have to pay for the technician to come and replace the sensor, I told her I wanted to talk to a supervisor. She told me they would call me on Monday November 2 and today is Wednesday November 4 and still no call. The equipment they use is cheap plastic and this is the second problem I had, the first was a motion detector fell off the wall two days after it was installed. They did come and fixed that problem. The reliability of Brinks is very poor.

    We had a false alarm one time. We had set the alarm off by accident. Brinks' response time was very quick, and we haven’t had any troubles with them. They came out, upgraded the system, and it took about 15 minutes.

I was assured that it would be closed and the proper paperwork would be sent to me immediately. Imagine my surprise when next month I was charged. I called again. Same reassurances, yes she could see that I had called before, no she didn’t know why it wasn’t canceled yet, no they weren’t able to refund my charge. After more than an hour on the phone, I was promised again that they would cancel my account and reverse the charge.

    The next month I went through the same ordeal again. We have now closed on the house, been out of the house for more than six months, and canceled the automatic draft. This week I received a letter that they are charging me a fine for canceling the automatic draft, And am going to send me to a collection agency. I have to call them again. I am also still receiving alerts whenever a door or window is left open... I don’t want to know when the new owner leaves the door open! Creepy! Do not use Brinks! Their security may be fine but trying to cancel is a nightmare! It’s not worth it.

    So far, Brinks has been good. I thought I was having an issue abought the camera. It wasn't working properly, and they kept tossing me all over the place, so I kind of gave up on that one, but it’s okay. When I called last week or so, they told me that I need to get like a Wi-Fi extender and that would help with the issue. The rep I spoke with was really helpful though.

    When the doorbell is on record, it doesn't continue. It just would start, and then, after 12 minutes later, it keeps recording. So, if there was an incident that took place here where the police was involved like when this child was missing, I only saw one camera when the girl came over, and then no one opened the door, and we didn't see where they went right because the camera did not even pick that up. That was why I called. I said, “So, what can we do? It doesn't make any sense if it's not picking up every motion, or anything that happens.” That's the main reason why it's there because the last time too, my neighbor said somebody keyed their car. I said, “Let me look at the camera.” I looked. I didn’t see it. It just showed 4 o’clock, and the next one that showed like 5 o’clock. So, it keeps beeping.

    A tech from Brinks came out to upgrade the system and that was fine. I had to call them afterwards because one of my motion sensors needed a new battery. He put a new one in and when I got my statement following that service call, it had a $27 charge for a battery. I had to call them about that and tell them they can get that battery. I’m paying $27 for a battery that I can get at a local drugstore for $5.

    Also, I like my old control panel better because it had the buttons for an emergency. I would hit two buttons together and it would sound off the alarm or call the fire department. With this new one, I gotta go through a couple of buttons in order to get to it. But it is okay and I’ve kinda gotten used to it. Also, Silent Exit is fine. Then, I wasn't getting my statement and their reps were helpful. They verified my email but I'm still not getting my statement. I called again recently and they verified the email again. I don’t know next month if I'd get a statement or not. But overall, Brinks is good. When I set the alarm off accidentally a couple of times, they were quick to respond to make sure everything was okay.

    I had Protect America which was taken over by Brinks Security. I called and requested an updated touchscreen panel to replace the obsolete Simon XT panel they said they would send one. Not only did they send it to my sons' house who has same last name. They sent an IQ Remote panel which is incompatible with the Simon XT. When I call I get disconnected and if you request yard signs they will charge you for them?

    I love Brinks. They are a great company and I'm satisfied with them. When I have any issues, their people come and take care of them. They upgraded all my sensors and my panel at no charge. My system is a lot quicker now. Before, it lagged a little bit when I was trying to set it. What I do is arm/disarm and there is no lag time. The guy who did the upgrade was awesome. A contractor is gonna come out and put some HD night vision in too.

    I have the Brinks app and with it, I can set and reset the system if I'm at work. It gives me access to it through my mobile. I have four cameras too. They're old and they still work, but I'm gonna get them upgraded. They’re not Brinks cameras though. They’re something I probably have for about 8 or 10 years. Overall, Brinks has taken good care of me.

    Brinks didn't change the system at home. But it works. When the alarm goes off, they'll call. They'll get the police there or ask you how everything is. Everything is on time. When somebody was trying to come through the front door at 10:30 at night, my alarm went off. I saw their shadow and my six-pound Chihuahua was growling. But I sensed that they heard the alarm. So that was cool. Then the Brinks reps called the police for me. My kids said that it could've been really bad if I didn't have the alarm on.     We went through three different companies before we ended up with Brinks. Brinks kept buying them out. We've had Brinks for years. We had it in the house and over at the store. We've had the same system in our house for 15 years until the other day. They came and changed out the main deal. But I've had to call them because something wasn't working right and they'd walk me through it. Sometimes it’s just a matter of changing the battery. But this last time, it was showing that the little sensor on my front door wasn't working and they had to come change that out. The technician that came out was wonderful. Overall, we're satisfied. We have people call us every day, 10 times a day, wanting us to switch companies. But we say we are happy with Brinks. We feel secure with all the security around the house. I like the easy access of how to arm and disarm the system. It notifies us so fast if someone enters the house that's not supposed to.

    We moved into a house. We were new in our area. We’ve had good luck with Brinks. The only thing I have trouble with them is their billing. I never seem to be on time. And they always tell me I owe them extra money, but I don't think so. Most of the reps are down in Jamaica or someplace that I'm talking to, and it’s hard to understand them. They are all professional. It’s just that I keep asking them, “Why didn't you call me or contact me, or let me know if the bill didn't go through my prepaid billing all that?” And they just don't ever answer that part. They could definitely let me know if my payment didn't go through by just a text or something.

    Make sure that they keep their payments on time or straightened out with the bank. Because the only way I ever know, sometimes, I would call them up, and they would tell me I owe them two payments. It looks to me the payment went through. So, I don't understand what a lot of that is. Other than that, the service has been very good.

I called their customer service as my camera had been having issues in saving snips. The second call, I just kept getting placed on hold, I didn't get anywhere.     Brinks was the first one that knocked on my door when I moved to the neighborhood after my home was completed. I pay about 70 bucks a month and I'd like to add another camera or two new ones. I just can't afford to do so yet. I don't wanna be switching over to a whole another servers and whole new equipment. It'll probably be easier for me to just stay with Brinks even though I've had some challenges like the door lock was jammed a couple of times, and right now, I'm not showing any recordings on my phone.     Updated on 10/31/2020: Since my original post got to dun notices on the same date, 10/21. Again checked my AMEX Charges and found Brinks had been paid by auto pay for all months, their records must not even record payments! They completely ignored my request to terminate the contract. I have no recourse but to contest every charge against my AMEX account. And I’m not even sure I’m being monitored since I let an accidental alarm continue just to see if they would call my cell but they did not.

    Original Review: Brinks bought out Protect America so I was bounced over to them. First I get is a past due notice saying my credit card (which I had on autopay for months with AMEX) was refused but bill showed a late charge with a months charge on it, no mention of a missed month. I called and wanted the late fee removed and since they messed up the billing transfer from Protect America I didn’t feel responsible for a missed month I knew nothing about.

    They refused so I said discontinue my account. They then informed me I had a contract with them and I would owe for 48 months. I said “show me a contract”. They said it was verbal. Right. Sure it is. They threatened my credit rating, in fact may have already dinged it. I don’t care. They lost a customer who had been paying like a slot machine for months. Goodbye Brinks. I’ll never do business with you.

    I was with Protect America then Brinks got it. They've been trying to make things good. They just haven't been pulling my money out of my account on the time that I had told them that I wanted it withdrawn and that caused a few problems with my bank. But the bank rectified it for me and Brinks somewhat did help out a little. The customer service has been good. Even though I was angry about the situation, their level of professionalism was great.

    I like that I could double-tap on my control panel for no quick-entry. If someone entered real quickly, it'll go off. However, I have a neighbor next door and I really don't want my neighbor to hear my control panel. I kinda put it way on the other side of the house.     Brinks bought over our Protect Alarm system and it's been a disaster. 1st our alarm sounded but we never heard it. They sent a new panel to install, with no instructions. Then two of our sensors need batteries but keep reading low battery. We were on hold for hours every day for weeks. They set up a date for a tech to come out and the day he was suppose to come he canceled stating he was sick. They set up another date for a month later, and after confirming the tech was coming the next day, he called to cancel again, stating he was sick. So we've been without a working system since August. That's 3 months! THE WORST SECURITY SYSTEM!!!

    I have two buildings where Brinks Home Security is installed. I have tried to contact the sales department to have another system installed in my RV. Wasted my time.     Brinks worked with my system that I already had. The installers didn't really know what they were doing though. They completely set my cameras incorrectly, which made me remove a bush that would probably cost me a couple hundred dollars to replace. Instead of setting it to where the motion sets off the camera, they said the little box that you cover over was where it wouldn’t set off motion, and he came out twice and set it so that the box was over the top of this bush, thinking that that would be the area that it wouldn't pick up. So every time the wind blew, the bush sets it off. I ended up tearing the bush out only to Google how to fix this issue, and he completely set it up wrong.

I like the features in my system very well. I called them because I had a problem logging on, and they quickly fixed it. The rep said, "We need to update your system." Immediately, I had someone calling me that was gonna come out and work on the system. They were here within the time specified. That took no more than an hour. Everything went as well as clockwork. They were very professional. I really enjoy my security system. In fact, I'm going to upgrade it here in the next month or two. I feel very secure, too. I'd tell others to get Brinks.

    I grew up with a security system in the house. My parents had never used Brinks, but when the company was recommended to me, I didn't hesitate. The installation went smoothly, and we discussed the different monitoring options. I elected not to have the motion sensors, given I have dogs. The panel is unobtrusive, and the camera in the panel is perfect for getting a wide view of the main living area. The glass break sensors are really sensitive! The only video I have is when my dogs got into something and set the glass break off... you see one running one way, and one running the other way. I love the app and Bluetooth features.     Brinks recently purchased our precious alarm system provider earlier this year. Our interactions with the Brinks customer service department at the 1-800 number were frustrating, time consuming and exhausting. We kept getting transferred to different representatives to which we then had to recite the issues we were having over and over again. No one in customer service would ever give us an answer or return our phone calls. Brinks never contacted us in reference to them being our new alarm system provider, we had to initiate all contacts.

    We were about ready to switch to another provider, however a Brinks technician was sent to our home to assist us with the new Brinks app. Thankfully, the technician was very helpful and knowledgeable and was able to assist us in getting our alarm system transferred over. In all honesty, that technician is what kept us with Brinks. Brinks is fortunate to have dedicated technicians in the field because their customer service reps at 1.800.447.9239 need a lot of assistance and training.

    One of the worst customer service experience's I've had. I called to cancel this months ago and got verbal confirmation it was cancelled (after about an hour on hold). Then they still charged me. So I changed my CCard to a fake number so they couldn't auto-charge me. They then told me today that I'm not allowed to cancel until I pay these several months of service payments when it was their error in the first place. They said they would send me to collections if I didn't pay them. Who's to say this process won't continue forever, this is such a SCAM. I don't want to take the time for legal action against them but BUYER BEWARE.

    I had a company before that Brinks took over and then I cancelled because the price went up. But I went back to Brinks a month later. They gave me a good price and I’ve been with them ever since. In April, a rep came out and fixed the camera. He was nice, very knowledgeable and he got it back running. He'd been out here twice because the first two times it didn't work. He got everything working on the third time and it's been doing good up until the last couple of months. It records sometimes and sometimes, it doesn’t. It keeps going offline and then I have to unplug it, calibrate it and get it back online. But the security is fine and I have no problem with it.

    We recently had a break-in in the house and knew we need to put security in, so we chose Brinks. However, we've had some issues with the unit. We've had to have some service work done on it. We've also needed some advice as to how to get out of a situation when we were in it, so I called customer service. They were always extremely helpful, very polite and very knowledgeable. There's definitely peace of mind since having the system installed. We've had a couple of incidents when it's gone off and the wind's blown the door open. They've been prompt in getting ahold of us or getting ahold of the police department, as the case was at one point. They've been very efficient. I'd recommend them.

    The security system provider I had before was very dishonest. I was having problems with my alarm system. I also had one that is a backup that was in my closet. I had to pay for the gentleman to come out, I had to pay for the battery to be replaced, and I thought that was strange. A couple of weeks later, someone said to check the thing that was in my closet if the guy actually changed that battery. When I opened up, there was no battery in there at all, and I was with that company for many years. I was so hurt 'cause I didn't think they would do something like that. I left them alone.

    I looked for a reliable company and someone mentioned Brinks to me. They knew just what to do. They understood what I was trying to tell them. We were able to pinpoint the problem that I was having when my alarm system's saying that the master bedroom was being tampered with. The young lade was able to resolve that for me.     The control panel needed an update. It kept sending these false alarms. I called customer service and since the update, it has been good so far. The technicians were pretty awesome, very punctual, and not afraid to work. However, I was getting ready to call Brinks because they didn't put my garage sensors in. The technician came out and fixed it just previously. I asked him when they're gonna put that in or how that worked. He said they should have done it when they put it in the first time. I don't know what I need to do. My wife might have called them, but I'm very busy and I just never got around to do it. It kinda came up as a concern for us as we're gonna be out of the country for a few months, so it’s why we’ve been back on the ball again about that. But then again, they should keep doing what they're doing.

    We just bought our first home and it's in an area right next to a city that has high crime, and we wanted to feel a little bit more secure so we decided to get home security with Brinks. I had called them regarding payment information ‘cause I was going through switching my debit card over, so I had to update them with that. Communication was good.

    They were the most affordable out of all of the security companies that had come up to us. Their system is really easy to use as well. One time, our alarm went off ‘cause my husband forgot to disarm it when he got home and didn't realize the alarm was going off ‘cause he was outside, so they called me. I didn't answer ‘cause I didn't recognize the phone number, and then they called him. So he had a good experience on the phone, too, with that.

    I’ve had the Brinks system for nine months. The sales rep was great. He was very informative and let us know how everything worked. Everything went together fine. We liked it and we appreciated how he treated us. We got the extra garage door thing, like being able to open and close the doorbell that had the camera, and then just being able to know that it's secure. When something's opened, I can get the notification on my phone. The app is user-friendly. You open it right up and if you wanna arm it, it's one touch and you're there. The doorbell disconnects every once in a while and then reconnects. Part of that was because of our poor internet. Since we've gotten the internet changed, it's been a lot better.

    I've had problems with the sensor ever since it was installed. For about a month and a half ago, I always had that when I walked in, the alarm would immediately go off. It then never went off and I found that strange. That's when I asked for the two sensors to get corrected. I called and Brinks said, “Well, we'll send you two sensors, but it’s gonna cost you $57, $58, or something like that.” I said, “Well, I'm not gonna pay that. I’m gonna just use another service. But if you'll let me have your supervisor, I'll see what we can work out ‘cause I'm not gonna pay that.” They took me offline. My front door was taken off the protect line for a while until I found out what was happening with the sensor.

    I talked to the supervisor and the only statement he made was he would send me two sensors. I gave my address and he sent the other guy to me. He didn't say anything about cost or anything about expense and paying for it. He was would just take care of the situation. That was my understanding because he never talked dollars. The guy that sent me to him did.

    Last Friday, I got a bill for $29 for a sensor. I'm appealing that cost of $29 dollars. Apparently, whoever I had talked to took it offline because when they came back on and I talked to them, that sensor began to work. If they're planning on charging you something, when you go to a supervisor, the supervisor needs to say, “Okay, I'll send it to you, but I'm gonna charge you X amount of dollars.” But that was never conveyed to me. The reason I went to the supervisor was I was disgruntled over having to pay for a sensor, and the problems that I had gone through with it, and having that door taken offline. I’m not a happy Brinks customer right now.

    One other concern I have is I have never been able to reach them with my issue by just calling and getting the response. I've been on the line sometimes for up to an hour waiting for someone to come on. And then, finally, one time they said they would get back with me on the following business day. That was a long time coming. That was all the way from Friday that afternoon. I got a phone call Tuesday morning saying what my needs were. That was not a good experience, either. I've had some questionable situations in the last month. I advertised for them in the past and had several people who took on their system based on our experience with them. But this has been very frustrating to me. If I can't get relief on that, I will just go to the other service and use them because I had some friends that have had some good service from another company.

    I was just moving into my newly purchased home and a Brinks representative came by and talked to my husband. And we said okay. Buying and setting it up was very easy and informational.     I started with Protect America for my home security, kept getting sent faulty equipment that broke or accidentally alarmed the police. They refused to allow me to get out of my contract. This last summer I was informed that they were bought by Brinks. I called Brinks hoping to get out of my contract and was told I could and they'd cancel my contract if I filled out a cancellation form. They told me my last payment would be in August. I was excited until I received a bill in September, when I called Brinks I was told that that would be my last bill. Well now it's October and I continue to receive bills. I called today and they said I cannot be cancelled from my contract. At least Protect America was honest about how awful they were! Brinks will just waste your time and give false hope, which honestly feels way worse. Awful place and they gave me zero alternatives to lower my bill or help with my faulty equipment.

    Brinks was just here the other day to put in a doorbell camera which isn't working. I'm waiting for them to come and fix it but they're supposed to come and put in some cameras for me. It was supposed to have happened yesterday, but we had to move it to another day. I’m not mad with Brinks because I understand stuff happens, but I have to wait for a tech to come out and do that.

    They scheduled for them to install the cameras, when they had to reschedule the camera installation. I told the lady to make sure to include on their ticket to make sure the doorbell camera works again. That really wasn't Brinks’ fault in that sense, but the gentleman from Brinks who put in the door camera told me that my upload speed was too slow. It was 0.68 and he was nice enough to let me know that I needed at least a 5.0 on my upload speed to put in three cameras. So, I called my provider, CenturyLink, and they have upgraded my system so I now have a 10 for upload speed. I can add as much as I want.

    From that standpoint, it was great because I learned something. The Brinks guy was very informative. But what I didn't catch was when they came out and put the new Wi-Fi thing in the router and they put the router in and changed from router to router, I didn't realize that no longer would my doorbell camera work. It's technology's fault. Brinks has been very responsive. I'm just caught in this defugalty. They’re gonna come out because they have to make your equipment work. Because then, it would look bad on the six o'clock news if they don’t fix it. They have to come out and make everything work because that's what they do.

    We started out with Protect America and Brinks bought them out. We had a fire detector and we took it down off the wall. They called us within seconds after doing that because the alarm went off. The reps were very nice. One time, I was talking to them and they said that they would give us a free sign to put on the outside. I told the customer service rep at that time that we had not gotten that. She said she'd check into it but we still have not gotten one. But everything looks good. They served us well.

    Brinks was the best available at the time I bought it. I've had it for almost 30 years and it was Monitronics at first and then they took over. I've always had good service with them. The reps have always been nice and friendly. For some reason, twice in the past couple of weeks, in the middle of night, it's giving me an alarm on the front door. Nobody can find anything, including the sheriff. So we're gonna have Brinks come out and check to see what's wrong. They're gonna send a tech out.

And so, I replaced the batteries, but the motion detector just kept beeping and it was saying it was still offline.     In Oct of 2019 a salesman came to our door to get us to switch from Vivint to Brinks. His pitch was a great one so we did. BIG mistake. They sent a tech to come switch our panel settings to Brinks and was supposed to changes all our batteries on the sensors which he missed a lot and used very cheap batteries. After a few months our sensors stopped working and garage sensor never worked. So I called Brinks customer service. Long wait time and the female agent would not give me her name. She was very argumentative as I explained everything that happened. I asked to talk to a supervisor and said many times I would wait since she said they were busy. So after 40 min. Of argument she says we are under warranty and they will send someone out and bill the warranty company Capital Alarm.

    I had no idea there was two different companies. She only offered this because I said I was going to call corporate office. So after waiting 3 weeks I get a call to set up the technician appointment. He comes out and checks the batteries of the sensors that were not working and said they were never changed so then he goes through all our sensors and changes the one that didn't work or never got changed. We thought he fixed the one garage sensor but it is still out. He has an invoice that says they are billing the warranty company like 399 for the service call. Weeks later I get a bill for the total amount. So I called again and explain everything and the agent says she will put in to have them bill Capital alarm.

    My concern was because I'm on auto pay I would be charged. She assured me that I wouldn't because it's a separate charge not my reoccurring payment I agreed to. Well they went into my bank and took out the entire amount. Over $400 and put us in a bind with our bills. I was furious so I called again and now I'm told there is nothing they can do that I need to get reimbursed by capital alarm.... WHAT!!!! I said everyone I spoke with even the tech said they were billing them. Had I known Brinks was going to rip me off I NEVER would have switched to them. The agent gave me a number to capital alarm that is not the correct one. Very poor business practices and the agent once again would not let me speak to a manager. Beware of this company!!!

    Brinks was recommended to us when we purchased our house through our warranty program. Their service technician was really good. The only concern I have with Brinks is when I called when I've had a couple of false alarms due to batteries being low in the house that we're not staying in at this moment, the person calling talks too quickly and muffled. It was not the connection. It's just that they talk a little too quickly leaving phone numbers to call back or what their name is. They're just not the clearest. I feel like when it's something around an alarm going off, they need to speak slower and more clearly. Anybody who has an alarm system feels more secure. Yeah. I feel more secure having it, and the app is good. I can at least have a sense of whether it's armed or disarmed. So, it's comforting.

    I got Brinks two years ago and at that moment, I liked the price, the service and the equipment such as the camera and the sensor. Everything was installed and by that point, I had 3G technology. Now, everything is 4G and more, and my system is not working very well. At the beginning, they said they were gonna send the technician from the company that works with them. The people were gonna be available according to their agenda and I was told to contact them. I did it but I didn't understand why I have to contact somebody else. My contract is with Brinks Home Security.

    I called the company and we made an appointment for September 21st. I didn’t go work that day because the technician was supposed to come between 8:00 in the morning and noon. I stayed here at home and the rep called me that he had a situation and he couldn’t go here. I would have to reschedule and the next appointment is one month from this time. I said that I was losing one day working because I stayed at home waiting for them. The company is supposed to have more technicians. It's not my fault and I am not sure if they come in and nobody's here, they're gonna charge me for some kind of things. Nothing happened and now, I must reschedule for this morning on October 16th. Hopefully, everything runs well for that time. If it's not, I'm going to cancel the service.

    Before this time when everything was working, I was so good, happy and excited. But at this point, I am not so happy with the service. My app, cameras and doorbell are not working. My thermostat is just controlled by hand and not by phone. Nothing is working except the alarm itself in the home. As long as I am paying completely, I’m not paying the half or three-quarters of the monthly payment. If I pay everything, I‘m supposed to have everything in the service that they offered me. But that’s not the reality right now.

    When you have all the features working, everything is good with Brinks, like other companies in the market. Today, they are not offering something that means they are the only one. They are between others in the market and they say in the advertisement that their customer service is the best or the first thing in the company.

    We had Protect America for years, after Brinks absorbed them the last 3 months of trying to do my monthly alarm test has been a nightmare. I spent 1 hour on hold with various departments trying to test my system. They told me there was no signal and put me on hold for tech. support, after a half-hour Tech. Support informed me my signal did go through and there was not a problem. Customer Service Rep. did not have command over the ENGLISH language and had to repeat everything over and over until I understood. I Will Cancel my contract when the time comes and inquire into different alarm systems. I never had these issues with Protect America.

    My overall experience with Brinks was very good. The other system, half of the sensors weren't working on it. I'd have to go to the battery store to get the batteries to put in them and it was a bit much. Now, I feel much more comfortable with Brinks. We have the camera and the tablet on the stand. All the sensors and glass break detectors are working. It's a much better feeling. The technician that came out to install was very good. He was on time, very knowledgeable, very pleasant, and very helpful. Everything that he told us about the system and things that we can do on our own was crystal clear. It wasn't like I had to call anybody and say, "Well, I didn't understand this. I didn't understand that." I was very pleased.

    When I got the Protect America system, it was not as easy to do as they made it seem. Getting someone to come out once I had the do-it-yourself kit here at home was very hard. When I had the ADT system, it was the pad on the wall and it was okay. But I got to the point where I needed to do something else that's why I did Protect America. I thought that this was gonna be a better fit for me. But it was hard to get somebody to come out so you would get them on the phone and they would walk you through it. With this, I requested that they come out, do it, show us how to do it and what we could do if we needed extra help.

    When Brinks bought Protect America, they acquired my account. So far they've been okay. The picture is clear. My phone was fine when someone was at the door. But I don't get my clips consistently. I'm still kinda working out the kinks with the cameras and trying to get video clips. They start and then once I surpassed that time cut off, they start back up. But we’ll get them pretty regular because it's on the side door. We go on in and out of the side door. So I probably am using a lot of the clips with the activity but they start up and they are good for about 10 days but then they stop. After about 10 days, they start back up again.

    When they were with Protect America, we didn't have any issues with getting clips whenever someone was at our side door. But after Brinks took over, we started having issue. I’ve talked to the technical department before and we walked through it. The clips were coming back in good but they started falling off again. I think there is an allotment per month and maybe that's why they're cutting off because I've reached them.

    We wanted to get rid of a completely-wired home security system and go to integrating Google Home with the rest of our Google Home stuff. Brinks was the provider that could then provide the monitoring. Security systems are largely useless but everybody’s supposed to have one. It's as much to stay in line with our high-end home furniture as anything else.

    We don't use our alarm very often and it's more of having it because you're supposed to have one. We were playing with it and set it from a remote location, and we got a false alarm on one entry. I haven't even gone back and I just turned it off from my phone. I talked to customer service, we reset the system and I haven't turned it back on since. They were easy to deal with. It was a great experience and I have had no problems. I set everything up. I didn't even talk to anyone to set the system up or to activate the monitoring. It’s very easy to use. With Brinks, I could do everything online. I didn't have to have anybody out during COVID, which was nice. It was a very seamless process.

    We have been with Protect America for many years. We were advised that Brinks Home Security has bought them out. Our credit card has always been on file and our payments were made automatically. Suddenly, we get a paper bill for $74+ stating that we are behind on our payments. We called as soon as we got the letter and gave the representative the credit card that had always been on file. She also said that we were due a credit and credited our account for 1 month payment.

    Today we got a letter from Brinks Home Security that we owe $37.05 and we are being threatened with cutoffs in our service and may be reported to a credit bureau. WHAT A HORRIBLE COMPANY. I am waiting for a call back from them. The wait time was more than 25 minutes. This was NEVER the case with Protect America. Their service was great and their support was the best. Agents were always courteous. Support is now overseas. You know how that goes! We will stay with Brinks long enough to research another security company. Perhaps it is time to go with the latest technology. AVOID BRINKS HOME SECURITY!!!

    I was calling Brinks to cancel the service because I've been without a battery for about a year and no one did anything about it. The young lady that I spoke with really tried to accommodate me to not get rid of the service. She told me that from what she could see, I needed to upgrade because I've had the service for a while and it hadn’t been upgraded. I was questioning about the doorbell ringer and she offered me a free doorbell ringer. But I had no idea what was required for that. It turned out that their technician would replace my doorbell with the new doorbell ringer but it had to be hardwired. And unfortunately, my wires had dropped in behind the wood that was holding it and when the technician came, he said that he couldn't do that because he needed it to be wired.

    So, he did the upgrade but he wasn't able to do the doorbell, and he had a very hard day because he was supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00 and he didn't get here until it was really late. He said that I had to call Brinks back and explain to them what was the problem with the doorbell. But we had a storm here and I haven't been able to get in touch with my electrician, so I still don't have the doorbell ringer.

    The Brinks salesman came to our door and I decided to use them. When the batteries were low and my system was out of date, it was good speaking with their customer service team. They were very nice. The system is good but it does not always record and it only gets me so many recordings. We had a party here and people were going in and out. Our daily was used up and we couldn’t get any more recordings. I don’t like that part of it. It seems wrong. The doorbell camera records at dumb times. It seems like, as much technology as we have, when I go out that door and I have my phone on me, it shouldn’t record. Somebody walking up to my house, it should record them. I have an autistic son and sometimes I don’t feel safe leaving him here.

    My little nephew, my mother-in-law, and another nephew got Brinks. I got it as well and it's a family affair. I like the system the way it is and I like the way everything’s set up. When I talked with them recently, they were so very lovely and helped me out. They took put two payments to the end and it's helping me out right now because it's kind of crazy outside with everything happening. There is no work and nothing's going on.

    Aside from that, when their reps came out, they were good and very professional. They cleaned and set up everything. They showed us the cameras and how to set the system up on the phone as well as how to turn it on. The first time they did it, they did it with the internet. They had this little box and they were having trouble with that box through the internet. So they hardwired it and they took care of that. And now, the internet is running directly to the box. Other than that, I had a break in in one of my trucks and the video camera caught it. I also caught on video when one of my neighbors at the corner had a package from Amazon and some kids on bikes stole it. I’ve told them about it and that helped out. I also told them that it’s good to have a security system like this.

    Brinks took over Protect America, so they are now my security company. I called them up to verify the takeover, and I asked them to upgrade my system because it was analog, not digital. The tech came out to do that today and he was very nice. I'm in a condo now. I had the security system put in because my wife had Alzheimer's and she would wander. I needed something that I could turn on at night because we didn't sleep in the same bedrooms and in case she got out of bed and tried to go out the door.     I have automatic withdrawal and I was beginning to see Brinks was withdrawing money instead of Protect America. I live in New Jersey and I knew that Brinks had been purchased by ADT. So I wanted to know what was going on. I called them and the customer service gave me the full explanation that they bought the name. They're not the original Brinks because that's ADT. Now, I asked the individual how many people they have servicing the Brinks out here in New Jersey. He said only three, which I don't like. I was seriously thinking about canceling this company and going back with ADT.

    Having three service techs is very little for the density that New Jersey is. But I stayed with them because they kept the system at the same price that I was paying monthly. But if I find that it's having to go up, I will cancel, and then I will contact ADT. When I used their webpage, it took a while, which I found very interesting. Because it's an indication that they are not necessarily really out here in New Jersey.

    I moved three months ago to another state. I took my Brinks alarm panel with me and ordered new sensors for the new house. It has more doors and areas for motion sensors, so that seemed like a sensible thing to do. For the past three months I have been trying to add the new sensors to my panel. To no avail. I am a software and hardware engineer, so this process is usually not very difficult for me. The system showed the previous sensors as disconnected for three months, which seemed to not have raised any issue with the 'monitoring' company. Calls to tech support always ended with a timeout on my part as 40 minutes on hold is about the maximum time I can afford. I was able to change my billing address on the account but you cannot change your service address online. There is actually very little you can do yourself on the system you paid for.

    When cancelling I had to go through endless holds and discussions to get an invoice for the early termination (it is full price, no room for negotiations) and then pay it. I was told that this is not possible, I need to pay up and then get a receipt. 30 minutes later (still on hold) I get an invoice with "Due at receipt" and a "PAY NOW" link. That is after I already paid close to $500 to terminate the account with my credit card associated with the account. When I asked to have a paid receipt the agent got quite unruly. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told 'she' is in a meeting. I am somewhat surprised that Brinks apparently only has one supervisor.

    I honestly do not know at this point if the contract is indeed properly terminated or not. The time to go through this cancellation process is about 2 hours. So if you are ok with 'living' out your contract with them, it may be for you. If you want flexibility or if you have a move on the horizon, better go with a provider that has more flexibility if things don't work.

    My experience was the same with Protect America. I had some issues a couple of weeks ago. I was on hold for three hours. And then, I got disconnected. I spent my entire evening on hold with Brinks on the phone, and that was my complaint with Protect America. Because every time you call in, you spend hours and hours on hold. The time that you have to spend on hold is not acceptable. People have things to do. When I upgraded my system, I got an explanation of, “We bought out several other companies, and everybody's working overtime.” You can tell me all the excuses you want, but it doesn't help me that I lost my whole evening sitting on hold.

    I had some issues with my sensors. The technician came out and we wound up doing an upgrade, even though I had to sign a new contract, which I don't have a problem with the contract as long as I get the service that I'm paying for. I told them that. But they had a stipulation. You only had a timeframe of about three weeks before your contract automatically renewed, that you could cancel. If not, you were stuck again. So at least with Brinks, she said, “No, if you wanna cancel tomorrow, you can cancel, but you'll just have to pay for the equipment.” That's fine. Other than that, we got Brinks on the app so we can keep track of our alarm system. I liked the new display because it's all Wi-Fi. And the things you can do with the system is pretty awesome. Everything’s good, except for the hold time, we got issues.

    Guy knocking at our door around 9pm, we agree to system and he says installer is 30 mins behind him, it was 90 mins later he showed. Doorbell camera quit working, appt scheduled for 10am today, guy called yesterday 4pm saying he was close, I let him know my appointment was today. He said he was the technician and he made the appointments and nobody else could. He logged onto my phone and system didn't work, he said I needed more wifi. I checked my wifi where Doorbell camera was and it was 93.7 Mbps download and 119.4 upload, more than enough. Problem still exists and I will have my friend help me on it from here on out, technician did nothing for me.

    Camera has been out for 45 days but I just recently contacted them. Technician changing appointment and helping nothing was very frustrating! Also, staying up late for technician "30 mins away" wasn't the best start. Disappointing experience and equipment. I guess you live and you learn! It's only $50 for 36 months. When you agree on contract, you also get $9 or $10 fee because system will bounce between Verizon and AT&T depending on which one has better signal, I don't understand that? So, $40 turns to $50 after you agree to whatever services. Online lady, was nice and helped as much as she could but we couldn't resolve my issue. Lesson learned!

    Brinks allows their techs to come into your home working under Brinks and selling cny alarms. The tech did not seem to know what he was doing to install a video doorbell. I ask for a refund, never received doorbell or refund. Have call Brinks several times and the tech does not answer cny **. Have notified BBB and will continue to write letters year after year till refund is given back. This is a con. Be aware. This has been going on since July 16, 2020. Must not pay very good for their employees to rip people off.

    I got a little confused. I had an outside camera that come with bricks. I was having a bit of an issue with it. When it was recording stuff, I couldn't switch it over to my video from my ring doorbell. So, I called. They kept putting me on hold. And they said they were calling Pro-Tec America. They also said I had to change my keycode box, which made no sense, and they would charge me for it. I've tried to call customer service back a couple times. I've sat on hold for a long time. I realize they're busy. But I wasn't real happy with that. I didn't ask them to switch. They did that on their own. But I don't see why I should have to pay for a new box. I don't wanna talk to customer service because they don't know what they're doing.

    The only person that knows what they're doing is Denise. I have spoken to her in customer retention. Absolutely fantastic lady. She has been very helpful. She needs a raise. One day I requested for her. They said she was busy and they would tell her to call me. I know Denise well enough that if she knew it was me, her and I talked quite a bit, and she would have called me back, which means she never got that message. I know she would have called me

    Last month on the 18th, I called. Since we switched from Pro-Tec America to Brinks, I needed yard and window signs since it's a different company. We talked, and the lady agreed, and she said she would send me up. And they come in a package of one yard sign and four stickers. She would send me three sets of them. When I called and talked to customer service today, the guy there told me an entirely different story. He told me that one was free, and the other ones were 10 bucks a piece. I said, “Hold on, that's not what she told me.” So, he looked further into it, and he saw, “Oh, yeah, that's right. They're all free,” which I haven't received yet. Why would he tell me what he told me without looking first?

    I’m a little leery of customer service. If you're gonna talk to somebody and discuss a particular problem before you have a conversation with them, look at what transpired in the past. If I called you and I said, “Look, I called a month ago” and I request this, make sure they were going to send it free, I would think that you would go on the computer and go back and look at that, which you can. And she, “Yes, sir. That's right,” instead of giving me a bunch of excuses, which he didn’t. He said, “Well, they're on backorder since we switched.” I don't wanna hear all that. That doesn't matter to me. When something is explained to customer service, they need to review the whole case before they say anything. Look at the computer and see what it says before you open your mouth.

    I was with Protect America and Brinks took over the company. I had a problem with the smoke alarm but Brinks took care of it and didn’t charge me for an outside contractor to come and do the job. It was an emergency. I had a lot of problems with Protect America, from customer service to the pricing of their equipment to responses. If they went out of business, so be it. They deserve it. Brinks has been good and they’ve helped me out a lot. Although it's not like before that you call the alarm company and you can speak to someone. Now, you have to wait to speak to someone.     Brinks was the first company we received a representative from in our house and we were pretty convinced to go with them. So far, they are very good. One time, the battery was low and I called them. The rep I talked to was great, then somebody came here to change the battery. All in all, Brinks has been very helpful. The person that came here helped us with the different issues that we had and answered our questions. So, it was nice. But every time I call, I have to wait 40 to 50 minutes to speak to a technician, so I have to separate a time of my day to call if I have to call. If I do it during my lunch break, I won’t be able to fix the problem. The other time that I called, I waited 40 minutes as well. At the time, I had to reset the system because I changed the Wi-Fi password. So the very long wait time bothers me very much. But everything else looks good.

    I always went with ADT because it was the most common one I knew of. But I've enjoyed having Brinks and I've had it for the last couple years. The house that I just moved into has ADT capabilities, but I wanted to stick to what I was already familiar and comfortable with. The Brinks' customer service over the phone was great. They were very helpful in trying to find me the most convenient day as well for getting everything installed. At some point, I didn't hear from them and they called the person and had them call me. So it was good. The installer was great. He was very personable, professional, and quick. He went through everything and made sure we understood how it all worked. He also tested it out before he left.

    I like the system now that it's more light. It's easier to take it with you where you go. That was the biggest breakdown from my last place to here. It cost me a little bit of money because when it was installed on a wall, it was harder to get it removed and keep moving, especially if you move out of a place quick. Overall, my experience has been great. I don't perceive myself switching to anyone else because I'm satisfied. It's great knowing that you have a system and I love the fact that it sends me the little alerts on my phone when it's been disarmed. So it kinda keeps me aware of what's going on, even if other people are dealing with the actual panel.

    Brinks bought out the company I was already with. So, I just stayed with them. Their reps have been out here for some upgrades and service. They said there was an upgrade to the main control panel for a better chip, so they were coming out and doing it. It wasn't anything that cost the customer. They put the new chip in and did a good job, and off they went. With the system, I am able to log into my cameras if I'm away, and look inside the house and see if anything's going on that shouldn't be going on. Every time it storms, something messes up with one of the detectors, if the power goes off. So, I can look at my camera and from my cell phone, wherever I'm at, and see that nothing’s going on in there, and I don’t worry about it. I’m very pleased with Brinks so far.

    I had Monitronics at first and then, Brinks merged with them. I recently called for my camera in the front of my house. The camera broke. Brinks outsourced the install for the camera to another company. They referred me to them and then, the guy was supposed to call me back but he didn't. I kept calling him. Then I called Brinks and then they sent an in-house technician who came right away. I was able to get my camera the next day. They replaced it since I had a warranty on it. But now, the camera that they installed is not recording properly. I need to call Brinks to schedule for somebody to come over. I looked at my phone and there were some days that were skipped. When somebody is at my door, it's not recording that somebody is at my door. I always look if somebody’s at my door or go back and save clips to see if there's somebody but I can't.

    During deliveries, I don't see anybody at my door putting the package. Before, it used to record if somebody’s at the door, somebody's ringing the doorbell or if somebody just passed by. It records everything but now, it's very seldom that it’s recording stuff. I checked the camera and then, I put it on an angle where I could see myself on my phone. I did see myself but as far as recording if someone's at the door, it doesn't. But overall, Brinks is great and I don't have a problem with the alarm system. My mom is 97 and I have the panic button in case something happens and I have the panic as well. Also, the monthly premium is good, so it's fine.

    We used to have Protect America and we loved it. After Brinks took over, it became an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. They are horrific and by far worse company we ever had to deal with. We have been trying to cancel for 5 months now. We emailed many times with no response. We called and each time talked to 3-6 people since they constantly transfer you then after we go through everything, we were told we would get a docusign to cancel it and it would never come through. We sent emails about this concern and there was nothing.

    After we finally called and finally talked to manager and got the docusign, and signed it we were still constantly getting billed. We got a phone call a few weeks later and they said said just because we signed it, does not mean it was processed. Even after they processing it we are still getting billed. We were told 2 times that the payment it would be the final payment but they are keep on going... Dealing with them is the worst. RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS FAR AS YOU CAN!

    I was an ADT customer for very many years and I liked their equipment. But the problem with ADT is that my needs got bigger than what it was. I had neighbors moving out and left areas unprotected that normally would be protected. So, I was calling to get ADT to come in and take a look at my new issues. They did not want to do this. They ignored me and passed me off, which upset me, and I went on about my way. I called a couple of local people and one local guy who was a neighbor of mine never got back with me.

    I called Protect America and I was extremely happy with the equipment that I received as far as the amount. However, once I got the equipment, I was surprised with the quality difference. The sensors and the things that I've got in my house doesn't look as well made and as nice as those from ADT. If you go to one of my windows, there's a piece of sticky on all my windows. Everything that they gave me has a piece of Velcro. So, I just glued a piece of velcro onto my frame and then put the sensor on the velcro. I pulled the sticker and these things stuck on there. So, I was shocked that I didn't get the quality. I stuck my foot in my mouth. I became their customer for three years. I signed the contract. I agreed to it and I'm a man of my word.

    ADT called me probably about two months after into my contract and I promised them I would return because I liked their equipment. In the process of all this craziness, apparently they're out and I get a bill from Brinks. I threw it in the garbage because I don't have Brinks security. Then, I got this third bill and my wife told me that I probably ought to pick up the phone and call them. So I did and found out that since Protect America went out of business, Brinks is picking up their customers. It’s a great opportunity. They are very ingenious with doing that smart business because even though Protect America went out of business, there are still customers out there needing to be serviced. I talked to a guy and he told me that he could move me over to Brinks. I was fine with that. I’ve been using the same equipment that I had before.

    I have made some phone calls because there are still other things out there that I'm not happy with. I live in a bad neighborhood and I've kinda pushed their security in the back burner. I was gonna deal with it a little later but I would be interested in more equipment and in furthering my security. One of the things that really boggles my mind is that I have, all around my house, stickers that says ADT. I was thinking that if I own the company and I was securing that guy's house, I would want my company stickers on that man's house.

    I kept having problems with ADT because they would say they were gonna send the police. I still have trouble because I have two dogs and sometimes I don't remember that my back door is open. Then it's very hard for me to run back there to shut the door and turn everything off. So for a while, I didn't turn my alarm on 'cause I figured I looked like I was armed to people outside. Brinks had to replace my sensor and the nicest guy came out and did that. Now, I'm trying to work with them or an electrician so that they could literally drop down my doorbell thing that's up in my attic, 'cause it's not through. Once they do that, then I can put the Brinks stuff on there. They have a SkyBell so that's fine.

    Their people are good. However, they're impossible to get ahold of. I go through all these things and I am not tech-savvy. They need to have something to help people like me. I need to get ahold of them because the police were at my house yesterday. I have a Ring, which B&D Security, their subcontractor, didn't alert me to the fact that they couldn't install it in my home to make it work. Evidently, there's a battery charger on there and they didn't give that to me. I've had an electrician come in and he didn't do the right thing either for $250. Then, I had a camera, which Brinks really tried to help me with. The police wanna know if I have any film because it was a murder. I tried to get ahold of them yesterday and I wasn't able to 'cause I had other things to do too and couldn't stay on the line.

    I feel that Brinks is responsible for their subcontractors. I don't like their subcontractors. They have the nerve to report me to credit because I said I won't work with them. Don't send them into my house. When dealing with them, you have to be tech-savvy, be very careful, and you have to ask the right questions. I got scammed by a contractor but now, I have some good people around me. I like Brinks, once I found that they weren't the subcontractors.

    I was with Frontpoint and two guys came to my house and tried to convince me to switch over to Brinks. I had sensors and things, but I didn't have cameras at that time so they offered to give me cameras for free. That was what got me to sign up a contract with them. When I initially signed up, it was MONI, and I still have the old yard sign. I requested a new one about two weeks ago, but I never got it. I'm gonna call them because it's going on to three weeks that I haven't received what I requested. But other than that, I'm pretty happy with their service.

    I bought the home from my dad and he had an alarm system put in about six years ago. As the time went by, I called a number of the monitoring service that my dad had and Brinks had bought that company. I did some research and they seemed to be okay. I had a guy come out to give me a quote. The guy who came out was nice. There had been four different technicians that came to my home for some problems that I had. They were all nice guys. They didn't waste time.

    It's hit-or-miss with Brinks. The cameras work sometimes but sometimes they don't. They work 8 times out of 10. I had a technician come out a couple of weeks ago. I had the alarm go off a couple of times and I told that to the technician while he was here. The alarm went off three times. On the third time, I did it on purpose to see if somebody would call me back. I let the alarm go off for quite some time. I was expecting them to phone call back and say, "Hey, your alarm went off. Are you okay?" But no one ever called me back.

    It all started when I didn't get the call. I was supposed to from Wilfred. He put me on $10 for 6 mos. And he was supposed to call after 6 mos to discuss another contract. He never a called and I was billed $34 without my permission. I called your C/I and spoke to an agent. He kept saying that he'll check with his Supervisor. After a halve dozen times I said let me talk to the supervisor. The supervisor refused to get on the phone with me. I told the agent, "If that were the case then I'm going to the bank tomorrow and cancel your withdrawal privilege." I cancelled called my month to month contract.

    A short time later I received a letter in the mail stating to pay $34.23. You may report me to the credit bureaus. I haven't missed or been late with any creditor for over 15 years. Shortly after I spoke to Timothy then he said he would waive the $34.23 and to call tech Support in 2 weeks and they would work me out a real good deal. I called them and the best they could do was $31 a month. I said no. I'd had enough with your new company and sent you a final payment of $34.23 on 9/10/2020. I suggest you listen to the tapes of my conversations or have someone with authority call me.

    Have not had service since 8-27-20. Call twice to talk to a technician for assistance. Held for an hour call. Was disconnected. Second time called again. Held for another hour to speak to someone but problem not solved. Ask to speak to supervisor but each time no one available at the time. I would have to hold the line again probably for another hour. Have been with Monica and others for almost 10 years. Brinks has really not been doing good job lately. Having to wait over an hour to talk to someone and not getting the job done it’s not a good thing. Seems like Brinks has more work than they can handle. This is the first time I speak badly about some company.

    I had very good service from the installer named Andre. The first doorbell was defective and rang a few times during the night, and I couldn’t access the camera through my phone. I am a little disappointed the Brinks Co made me do a 1 1/2 hr session of troubleshooting over the phone with them before they approved the replacement. Between that and how long you hold before getting a technician on the Brinks line, it is a lot of lost time to the customer.

    I renewed my contract with Brinks after they had purchased the company I was with. The only issue I have is the company that I had never offered the warranty. One of the devices that I have which is the smoke alarm keeps going off every so often. I did talk to the representative and that was when they told me that because it's not under warranty, they couldn't do anything about it. It doesn't make sense that I'm with them, I'm paying monthly payments, and I have a device that keeps failing. I would think that because we are getting false alarms and the fire department is being dispatched on a faulty case, Brinks would wanna do something as far as replacing it.

    The times that it's failed before, we were here so it wasn't a big thing. But this last time, we weren't here and they had to dispatch the fire department which I think is kind of a waste of their time. Sometimes I get a little worried when we do leave that this thing is gonna go off and they gotta get the fire department out here again. Maybe they didn't install but the initial company installed it. I've complained about this smoke detector. It didn't start becoming faulty until after they came and did the upgrade on the control panel.

    When they did the upgrade, it was more of a circuit card at the time. All of a sudden, all my other devices kept failing. They came and replaced the control panel. They found out that the thermostat wasn't compatible with the upgrade and with this device. We took the thermostats off but the smoke alarm should be be something that this thing could sync up properly to. It's always the same one which is the one right here by the kitchen that keeps failing. The times that it's gone off, there hasn't been any cooking involved.

    The thermostats are from the company as well and offering maybe discounts to upgrade or to get the ones that work properly with the control panel would have been great too, but that's not even an offer. I had to pay the full price. I thought of just disconnecting it. I'm just recovering from an injury and I like the feature where I had the capability of turning off certain air units or lowering the thermostat at certain points without having to get out of my bed, which I couldn't.

    I'm a little frustrated but overall, Brinks has been pretty good. The cameras that I recently installed all work. The guys were good. I have a lot of Z-Wave devices that I plugged into the alarm system like all the lighting and they took their time and installed all of them back in there again. I really appreciated that especially this last time because I had an injury so I couldn't get to a lot of devices that I have plugged in their outlets. The guy went ahead and did them anyway. I felt bad for him because he thought it was the control panel. He got his boss to give them the approval to replace the control panel which they did and I'm grateful for that. He resynced everything and everything was fine.

    We have three levels in our home. My mom is on one level and I am on another level and we couldn't tell when somebody was in the middle level. We got a home security system to know when we had traffic in the house. I'm interested in setting up a camera on the second floor. I’ll know or she’ll know how to look at it on the first floor. I hear my friends talk about them having a camera here and there, but I haven't really explored it. Any time you say spend money, I’m the person that you don't wanna talk to in the house. I spent $158 to put a panel on the first floor for my mom when all the panel really tells her is somebody opened the front door but doesn't know who opened it. When she's in her bedroom, she doesn't even hear it so I'm thinking is that really helpful? But because she wanted it and she lives here, we got it. But if they are outside barbecuing, hers is so sensitive and right there near that area that it sets off the alarm on the first floor.

    But overall, I'm satisfied with it. We got an upgrade to the wireless system about a couple weeks back. One of the features of Brinks is I could be in the bathtub and unlock the door for my grandkids. My system is fine for as much as we use it and we have never had a problem. Any time I call, they're super nice. Any time anybody sets off anything near here, they're awesome.

    I've known about Brinks for a long time and we purchased our system years ago then we upgraded it. That was pretty easy. We had a repair and when I was talking to them, they said they could extend our service for another couple years so I went ahead and did it. I had the doorbell through Brinks at first. But I wouldn't get notifications and it wouldn't record. I took it out and I put in a Ring system. Now, I have eight cameras and a doorbell through Ring. When I had a problem and we had some things going on, Brinks sent somebody out. From the time I called until they came out, it took a little bit longer than what I would’ve liked. But the guys who they had out, had always been top-notch.

    I had Protect America, month to month, no extended contract. I tried to cancel in April. They said I had to wait 2 months, not sure why. I tried again in June, no answer when I called multiple times. I wrote the cancellation letter, no reply. I stopped autopay. Now I'm getting dunned by Brinks Home Security and threatened with collection agency. I was never monitored by Brinks and have spoken to their accounting department several times with no resolution. I plan to take them to court, even though it is a small matter. They send me "please come back" flyers offering service from $14.95, so they know I am not a customer and never will be.

    I'm going through a bunch of changes with Brinks. Everything's got a price tag on it. I've been with this company for a while and right now, I'm not too happy with them. I recently moved from a property that I lived in for about 15 years and I was covered by them. The name changed about three different times then the service would change. When I moved back here in July, I wanted a new service put back into the old house where I was. They wanted to up me with new equipment 'cause the system that was in here was back from maybe 20 years ago.

    A very nice young man came in. He said he'd been working with them for a couple of months but he was really good at what he did. His charisma was awesome. He was a good person to deal with what I had to do and he took care of everything. When he got done, he showed me all the steps. I took notes and I didn't think at the last minute to see about signing. Normally, they offer you the little decals that go in the window and they also will put a sign in the yard. I have a sign in the yard that says ADT from way back when but nothing saying Brinks.

    When I did call the young man and got him on the phone, I told him to have the house covered for signs and decals. He said they could take care of that. He ordered up and said they were gonna get a package to my house. But he failed to tell me that's an $11 charge which is what I found out yesterday. I'm on a budget and don't have the extra money. He could've mentioned to me that it's gonna cost me to get those services. If I had known all this upfront, I could've had them just redo this whole system. I've been in sales and when I'm dealing with my customers, I let them know all the ins and outs. That's how you get the comeback customers - by telling them the truth and being honest with them and offering good service. If you don't do that, the word-of-mouth will be bad on you and you will not get them back.

    The young man walked me through my password to have this coming off my Android phone. I called yesterday to get back onto the Brinks line through my internet, not my phone. I spent about four hours trying to sign on, getting myself an account online on my computer and still could not make it work. When you try to call somebody, that's another long wait to get them to walk you through it. Then in the midst of it, they hang up on you. I still didn't get anything done after that four hours. Plus, now, I'm stuck in the deal for a contract. I'm also the one who keeps track of what's going on in our house. I wanna see what my bill is. I need a prompt to sit down and pay my bills but they're gonna charge me $2.99 to send me a paper bill.

    The young man did walk me through, but he did not fix it. They didn't enable the pad. I don't know how to stop this thing from giving me these prompts every day. It's at least 10 of them every time I go in and out of my front door, lock up and come back. I called in the other day and when you try to call in, that's like a two-hour wait before you can usually get somebody. But I've found out that if you call late at night after 10:30, you get better service.

    I was a satisfied Protect America customer from August 2016 until Brinks Home Security acquired Protect America in July 2020. I did not think there would be any change in quality of service until I had a technical support question - I was repeatedly kept on hold for as long as 45 minutes and was then transferred multiple times (each time I was required to hold again). And my question was never resolved. Based on this experience, I decided to change my home security provider and did so. I contacted Brink's Home Security in early August to notify them that I was cancelling my service. They indicated I had to complete an online 'Action Required to Cancel Service' document - which I did and submitted on August 6.

    I was also told by the representative that I would have to pay one final month although I had already paid Protect America for the month of August. So I went ahead and paid that amount. I also received an email (dated August 6, 2020) from Brink's Home Security titled 'Your Cancellation Request' stating that 'We hate to see you go' and offering me a reduced rate. Based on my conversation with the representative and this email I thought my account was cancelled.

    However, today I received a new statement from Brink's Home Security for monitoring charges from 9/1/20 to 9/30/20. I tried to contact the customer service number on the statement but was cut off after holding for about 10 minutes. I have sent an email to the only email address I could find on their web site, and also sent a letter to the billing address. This company's support is terrible and needs to get better! If I receive any further statements or bills from them, I will contact the Attorney Generals' office of the State of Indiana and other local officials.

    I had had one incident of an intruder in my home while I was home. A home security system seemed like a good idea and Brinks was offering a really good price at installing a system. I was happy to get what they were offering and didn't go with a lot of bells and whistles. Since that time, I've had the system in my house. It's nice to have a sense of security when I'm here. I had a second episode with someone trying to get into my house when I was home again. Since the alarm went off, I woke up hearing the alarm and the police came because the alarm company notifies them. They didn't catch the man but I was safe.

    I did have an issue recently where one of the sensors wasn't working. It was on the doors that walk out onto my back patio. I live in an almost 100-year old house and I've had a significant foundation issue develop. The patio broke up into pieces and things shifted. The sensor on the door got askew and it didn't connect anymore. They came out and it took a little while to get an appointment but they told me how to figure out how to bypass the situation so I could come and go and still have a working alarm. The gentleman came out, did an upgrade to the panel and installed new sensors in that door. Because I agreed to extend my contract for a year, there wasn't any cost. I had no plans to go anywhere in a year so I thought it's fine. They're keeping the price the same for a year.

    The system is easy to use. It works. When I did have to call customer service or a professional, they were courteous and helpful. I'm comfortable with the price that it costs me on a monthly basis. I have options to add cameras and more sensors and do other things so that it isn't just, "This is all we got." It does connect with the city so they are then going to be in contact with the police if something happens. Those are all things that I like. An average person, if they felt they needed a security system, would want that. The product works, there's flexibility in the plan you can have, the people you deal with are good and dependable, and the product is solid.

    Called to cancel. I was told they’d email documents. Waited the required 48 hours and nothing. Called again. The excuse was the documents did not get to me cause my address was sent in all caps. Lame excuse. They “resent” documents. Still haven’t gotten them. This was not another mistake. Brinks does not want to send me cancellation documents but emails telling me don’t go can come through.

    I've had Brinks for 17 years and I love the system. They’re a great company to deal with than dealing with ADT. One thing though was when they came to do the upgrade on my system, they didn't upgrade. But they gave me a new monitor. Also, when I reset the system, the glass break went off making the policeman come out. A tech came back and unplugged the one in the bedroom because he felt that was what the cause was. But evidently, it’s still doing the same thing so I don’t reset the system.

    I always wanted to go with Brinks but Monitronics came by and offered me a deal. That's how I got them and I've had them for a long time. Then Brinks bought the company. With Monitronics, I would call and I'd get someone and they'd take care of the situation. With Brinks, I had a difficult time with the appointments which might be due to the pandemic. I was trying to get something done and needing to go out of town. I wanted it taken care of because it kept making this noise. And they needed to upgrade my system because it was an old system. I finally got to someone that took care of me. Once I explained that they were putting the appointment off way past the time that I needed to be out of town, they came out and helped. They did what they were supposed to do. I was really happy and they came out the date that I wanted them to come out. It finally got done before I left.

    Brinks representatives came to my door and gave me a good deal. The installers set it up and they explained everything. Their customer service is always very helpful. They always alert me if I'm away from home and there's an issue. I've been happy with the service. When I first took them on, they wanted me to do a five-year contract. They also wanted to put a device on the windows in case the windows were opened up. But I have to have my windows open in the summer and even in the winter, I leave my bedroom window open a crack. So, they put a glass break detector instead. Then I did not want to sign a five-year contract and they went with a three-year contract. I was okay with that even though I wasn't real happy. After the three years, I was gonna cancel because I had to cut down expenses. But they lowered the price significantly. So I'm still with them. They also gave me a button for my husband, a button and it was a nice added feature.

    I installed Monitronics in 2017 and it was bought by Brinks, everything was working perfectly until I moved in 2019. I had 1 year left in my contract. Brinks then sent a sales person(Jen) that did not do what we asked for. Instead of transferring the service, he opened a new account with another 3 years contract, months later I found out I was paying for two contracts every month, when I call him to complain, he then saw himself in that spot and paid from his own pocket the cancellation fee of my old contract and left us stuck in a new 3 year contract. His approach was misleading, unethical and all he cared for is to do his sale. Also the Skybell stopped working and we have requested many times service with no response from Brinks. Now Brinks requires 1429.78 fee to cancel this service that does not even work.

    I was a Protect America customer for 7 years with no issues and received great service. I upgraded my panel and signed a new contract with Protect America on 6/25/20. Had I known Protect America was going to sell my contract to Brinks, I never would have signed. Protect America sent me a panel for Brinks system that incidentally does not communicate with the existing sensors that all over my house. Basically, the panel they sent is worthless and does not do anything.

    After multiple calls, emails, texts (as of writing on 9/9/20), I still do not have sensors that communicate with the panel, so I do not have a functioning security system for 2.5 months. I have spent over 8 hours of very frustrating time on the phone with no resolution. Brinks refused to give a credit back for the months of service they billed, but have not provided. Worst customer service ever. I have now had to file claims with my credit card. No service, no payments. See you in court. I would never recommend Brinks.

    Brinks bought out our security service which was Protect America and our experience with their reps has not been very good. I can't understand them. It's kind of their accent and they'll repeat several times. I called Brinks because we had some problems with one of the sensors. I was going over what I had and asked, "Don't I have fire alarms?" They said, "No. You don't have fire alarms," but I know I bought two.

    When the service tech came, he said the fire alarms I have will work but they've never been hooked up. So, I bought another fire alarm that I don't need. When I called them and told them about this fire alarm system, they initially said there isn't anything they could do about that and that was on Protect America. I said, "You did buy their headaches. When you bought them, you have to take care of their customers." I asked for a supervisor and got someone that spoke English. They said to call retention and I'll be able to send that fire alarm back or get credit for it. I was probably on the phone an hour and 20 minutes getting all this resolved.

    The technician that came was excellent and I really was happy with him.. But I get real frustrated when I call and can never understand anybody. I'm a little older and maybe my hearing is not as good. But there was one time when we were trying to go over the security system that I couldn't understand this gal and she got kind of vindictive. She said, "Just go get a piece of paper and write it down 'cause you don't seem to understand what I'm saying." If the technician wouldn't have been so wonderful, I probably would have discontinued the service. But this guy that came to our house was awesome and that's the only reason I'm still with Brinks.

    Brinks' customer service was very good. Their installers came out to install the whole system up. They were nice and polite. They got their work done in a timely manner and I couldn't ask for much better. The features are good. It set up my account, but I hadn't been in it through the mobile app. So I had to call in and get some help with that and that worked out fine. I was given these little things for if someone fell or something. But they're sitting exactly where it has been placed because I don't know how to use this particular device. It just has buttons to show mainly what's on the app. But I'm not dissatisfied. I just don't know how to use it. I would like to find out more about that.

    Ever since Protect America was taken over by Brinks Security the customer service has been horrible. I called and was on hold for over an hour. When they finally answered, I spoke with a technician that either didn't understand English very well or was not well trained. We spoke for over an hour and resolved nothing. Their app say they are available 7 days a week and when I called on a Saturday, I got the message that they are open M-F. When I called today, I was on hold and bounced around from person to person. I wish to cancel my contract and there is so much red tape just to cancel. I would advise anyone looking for a security system to look for a customer service oriented company. They say they were rated #1 in 2018 but today we are in 2020. I can't believe that having a customer on hold for more than hour can maintain that rating.
