    During the transition over to Brinks, there was a better fuller explanation of how the elements of the system work, a hands-on demonstration of setting and canceling when the system is armed, and how to arm and take down the system. The two technicians that came to do the upgrade of the items in the house were both very professional. They donned their shoe covers immediately upon entering and conducted themselves very well. They went about their job and they were very good at explaining what they were doing and why they had to replace several parts inside the house.

    Updated on 06/04/2021: This evening, I talked with a Brinks technician and he confirmed that in the last 12 months my 'Brinks touchpad' hasn't been connected to their server. I have always believed to be protected by Brinks but I wasn't and this horrified me. In other words, Brinks didn't check that my home was safe and I was convinced that I was protected by their service and paid around $50 regularly every month. At this point, I've asked Brinks to give me back what I paid in the last 12 months for the fault-service and I've asked to cancel immediately my contract with their company.

    Original: In the last months, I didn't get the right support about several issues occurred. Weeks ago, Brinks didn’t react after an alarm occurred in my house and I asked to cancel my subscription but Brinks denied my request because the existing contract. Yesterday night, someone tried to get in my house from my garage and I got an alert from the Brinks app on my home but nobody from Brinks contacted me or called the Police. My little baby was at home with my wife, and they were in danger but my alarm system/Brinks were useless. Since I wasn’t at home, I called my neighbor and Police by myself to get help.

    Today, I called Brinks and I explained everything and the Brinks operator told me that there was no alarm notification in your system. I got upset because it means my safety is in danger because your faulty service. I asked to talk with a manager but after waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes to talk with a manager, the manager refused to talk with me. When I've asked to cancel my subscription, they suggest to cancel my contract with Brinks Home but I need to pay the penalty for the advanced cancellation.

    During the freeze, I had a busted pipe and the restoration people cut the wires from the security stuff so a guy from Brinks had to come and redo everything for me. He was really great. He showed up on time and went through everything. He explained everything to me and got everything working. Also, somebody tried to break into my house one day and I had set the alarm. They opened the window and it set off the alarms so my neighbors ran out and cops showed up. I feel more secure and better having the system.

    Brinks came out and upgraded the system and it was wonderful. The tech did a good job and went through everything fine. The system is easy to set and disarm.     They do very good deals at Brinks and the customer service is great. The lady I spoke with was very friendly and she explained everything that I needed to know. Everything was perfect. I was told that Brinks was going to send a technician to do an upgrade on the internet or the signal of the internet panel. He checked and upgraded that panel, and checked all the alarm sensors. He did a great job. I got a good system and I don't have any trouble with it.

    We don't feel we have a need for the security system here but my wife feels very secure with it, especially if I'm not here. I've recommended a few of my other neighbors to go with it and a lot of them have Brinks. We've been with them ever since we bought the house and it's been four years now. The only issue I have is we placed a few of the items in the house that we would have placed differently. We have the open concept here with the kitchen, the dining room and the living room, and the smoke detector is not in a very good place. When my wife is cooking, sometimes if it's smoky, the alarm goes off and it's because of where the detector is located. But they call right away when the alarm goes off.

    It took from May 5th, 2021 to June 25, 2021 to get a refund of money taken out of my bank account for a month's payment after my contract had expired the previous month. It was like pulling teeth when dealing with people in the Cancelation Dept who were hardcore salespeople pressuring me to extend my contract. After coming to Consumer Affairs things started to get much better. I want to give a shoutout to a young lady in Brinks Customer Service who was very helpful in finally getting this resolved. Her name is Danila and her promises were golden. She was very pleasant to work with. Thank you Danila! Even though it took over 7 weeks to get this taken care of, I will give Brinks a big thank you for getting this settled with me.

    My contract with Brinks Home Security is up on June 5th, 2021. In March of 2020 I paid the balance of my contract and told them I wasn’t going to renew it. I was going to remind them of my cancellation in mid-May of 2021. On May 4th of 2021 I got notification that they had taken $72.96 out of my account for payment for June 2021. I got on the phone with Brinks the next day and said I did not agree to extend my contract and wanted out after the contract expired and also wanted my $72.96 refunded. I was then transferred to the Cancellation Dept. where I was harassed by very hard sell people who couldn’t understand that I didn’t want to renew my contract and I just wanted my $72.96 refunded and we would part company June 5th, 2021.

    Finally after about 2 hours on the phone and shuffled between 3 hard sell sales people, I was told that I needed to fill out a cancellation notice and send it back in electronically. After it was approved their people (yes approved by them even though my contract was expiring), they would electronically send my $72.96 back. I should see it within 7 to 10 business days.

    Eleven business days later, I not only had not received my refund, but had received another bill from them for $1.99 for a paper statement fee. So back on the phone I go. Another hour and a half I was transferred to another person who looked into what was going on and told me that the reason I didn’t get my refund was they decide to extend my contract one more month instead. I raised hell about that and the lady said she would fix it for me and I should receive my refund in 7 to 10 business days.

    Today is business day 8 of 10 and so far, no refund. I would like to add that Brinks took it upon themselves to extend my contract one month. However, after sending in the Cancellation Notice on May 5th, I got several promotional deals with cheaper monthly payments. Interesting that they said I could get the discounts if I signed up for a contract extension.

    One of the wires broke in the window. And of course, it didn't work. I called Brinks and they said, “Oh, we'll send you this little sensor thing. Call us when you get it. We'll tell you how to work it. It'll be fine.” I said, “Great. That's terrific. You don't have to come out. That's okay. As long as it works.” However, I didn't get it. I called and, “Oh, well, we sent it.” They sent it out, but they forgot to put the address on it. And, “We'll send you another one.” I finally got one of them. I called the people. They told me what to do. It didn't work. And so, the guy that I spoke to, it was a gentleman, I think, from Texas, I guess. And I said, “Why don't you just send a technician out? I'd rather you do that. I'm not great on this stuff anyway.” And he said, “Well, we don't send technicians out.”

    When trying to get the equipment out, one person was saying one thing, another person was saying another. “This will work.” Or, “We don't send people out. We don't do this.” Everybody said something different until my daughter was able to get ahold of someone that helped us. I was shocked at Brinks' technical department. I was very dissatisfied with the technicians.

    Long story short, my daughter got somebody on the phone. Brinks sent a gentleman out who finally came, he got it working. And that was fine. What bothered me was I would have thought he would have taken that old, broken wire out of my kitchen window. It was part of the system that didn't work anymore. But I felt that he didn't complete his job. Maybe he wasn't supposed to. My daughter and I have talked about it. She had just started a new contract the first of the year. When the contract runs out, I will look for a different company.

    The system is a straightforward system. What I like is the ability to bypass zones. I also like that it's hardwired because all the systems today want you to go to non-wired or some type of hybrid. My entire system is hardwired. If I were going to upgrade or get a new system, it would have to be a hybrid system. The year before last I had a service issue that I needed taken care of and it was addressed. However, I wish that the customer service and technicians or whoever I was connected to, that the majority of them were in the United States as opposed to being in the Caribbean or somewhere else overseas. I couldn't understand some of the people and they couldn't understand me. That was a challenge. But once I got to the right person and then Brinks sent the tech out, everything was taken care of.

    Before Brinks, I was with about three other companies. I was on a fixed income. I was trying to find something in my price range and something that will work for myself and my husband with only being two of us here in the house. Brinks sounded very reasonable to me. They got very good customer service. Anytime I needed to call to check my equipment, it’s very good. Being my age, I forget to close the door behind me and detonate the alarm. That’s why I got the key fob. It works better for me. Overall, I love my experience. Brinks is very secure. I would tell others to get it.

    1. I was not aware of the charge. 2: Brinks contacted me about upgrading my internet for the system. Since you were coming out, I asked to have a ring bell put in. Even though you contacted me about coming to my home, I was still charged the fee. I have no problem paying this if I requested service. However I was led to believe that upgrading the internet was a necessity. I do not understand why I was being charged,. The rep I talked to on the phone had no answers and kept repeating the same thing.

    Brinks's system has been very valuable for me since I live by myself. Customer service has been very good. When the technician came out to do the upgrade, Brinks had to replace some chip in the system because originally, the system was 3G and now it's expanded to 5G. The screen became very dirty that in certain light, the glare made me unable to clearly read what was behind it. So he had to come out and clean the screen. But that was the only thing and everybody was so wonderful and kind.

    Easy to install system, at a reasonable price. Monitoring cost are reasonable. System is almost 3 years old and still works as new. Phone app works well with system and also remote arming and disarming, and also to view video from camera attached to the system.

    We were forced to sell our home and move. We contacted Brinks as we no longer owned the home or had an active system-further our new rental home did not allow attached alarm systems. Brinks service reps told us that we had to pay them regardless or get reported to credit bureaus for nonpayment. We are former Protect America customers and never signed any agreements or contracts when Brinks assumed Protect America accounts. Bottom line - we are being billed each month (with threats attached of credit reporting for nonpayment) and we do not have the home or the equipment or the service. Brinks - reach out and help us by doing the right thing and help us during these difficult times.

    I live out in the country and for years, I didn't have a security system. I'd leave my back door unlocked. I'm a hunter and I have weapons in the house and some memorabilia when I was in the service, and I thought, "Man, I gotta just get an alarm system on that." So, I did. I've had this system a long time. It used to be Monitronics, but Brinks took over and bought them. I didn't want to interrupt the service for the security system.

    I rarely call because I haven't had to but within the past two months, I had one of their service guys out only because I don't know how this works. The system was older, so they had to update it. I was getting these messages saying that it wasn't reading my system, or it wasn't picking it up. Then, 10 hours later, I would get another text message. At first, I thought it was the house. So, I called Brinks and they said, "It's because your software's up to date," They sent the guy out and he was out here right on time right when I scheduled. He was a really nice fella. He took care of it, and I haven't got one of those messages, so I assumed it worked. They worked on the panels to upgrade it. I changed my own batteries on the sensors. On the main panel, I didn't know how to do that, and he showed me how to do it. But he was really nice, really professional and got it to work right.

    I would put a camera somewhere in the house, though. Other than that, I'm pretty happy. One thing that's pretty cool about the system is where I live, sometimes the weather gets kind of violent squirrely and thunderstorms can be a tornado in a second, and the alarm system will tell me. It'll beep at me and it'll turn red. It notifies you when there's really bad weather really close like tornadoes. It's very helpful.

    The installer came in and did what he had to do and he left. The installation went well. The system doesn't work like it did before, though. I do need to call Brinks back because somebody needs to come back out here because I can't use one of my keypads. I have to set the system on and off through my phone. My phone works but my keypad is not working. Also, it’s about time to update the cameras. The technology behind the cameras is delayed.

    At this point, I'm new with Brinks, but I'm totally satisfied. I had a home security system maybe six years ago with Protect America. Protect America was acquired by Brinks a year ago. I was always happy with what I had from Protect America. So, I signed the thing with Brinks. They sent a nice gentleman out here. He was here on time. He put the new control panel in, upgraded it, asked us if we had any questions and showed us how to operate the thing.

    The system is totally state of the art. It replaced a much older system that we had. The only thing is the older system we had had a really pleasing voice to announce that the door was open or your window was open. This particular thing, the voice is more mechanical. It’s more robotic. It took my dog two weeks to get used to that voice. When it would say. “back door open” or “front door open”, the dog did not like it. It's a shame that they don't have a panel where you could choose a voice. This voice on this new panel is very unhuman.

    Our Brinks system has been working fine. But, transferring service from the previous owner was a little confusing because no one understood that the system was already installed. And the previous owner had the same issue telling Brinks that he was going to leave it installed for me. Also, I got bills within two days of each other which was weird. Other than that, my system offers extra protection and I like the fire alarm.

    I like everything that I have with the system. But my wall panel could be a lot more brighter in terms of being able to really see what's happening. When it starts to get dark, I don't really have that much of a lighting on the panel. So I'll turn it up, and it still looks kinda dim. Other than that, the system is great. If I have any issues or I don't know how to do something, I can call in and get help with that. I wasn't that savvy with how things work and Brinks was good. I like them.

    When the installer came in, he confirmed my purchase, what I was getting installed, and what I've talked to the representative about. As he was doing the installation, he showed me how to operate all the things. He talked me through everything that he was doing. So I never had a doubt with what he was doing. It was good.

    A new system has just been put in last Thursday. The tech who was out had a few problems trying to get it where I could use it on my phone, but he worked it out. Now I am having a problem with the newly installed outdoor camera. The camera is doing a live feed but it won't save any events that occur with the motion sensor. I was on the line with the tech person on Saturday for almost three hours and she wasn't able to solve the problem. We were in the middle of scheduling someone to come out but I had an emergency and had to get off the phone. Since the call was ended abruptly, we did not set an appointment. But I've had Brinks for five years and the customer service people that I've dealt with always have been professional and they try to mitigate whatever the problem is. If they couldn't do it, they would send a tech out to the house.

    In February of 2018 I purchased a home security system from Live Watch, ultimately they were purchased by Brinks Home. Both companies were a great value in-home monitoring. When friends and family asked me who I used to monitor my home, I was a great promoter of the company and products, because I was always treated right. I am disappointed that the experience has changed upon selling my home where I needed options that Brinks Home simply does not offer.

    In November 2020, I sold my home. I was temporarily no longer in need of monitoring services and wished to pause my monitoring agreement. When I called Brinks in late 2020, I was told I could pause my services for up to three months at a time. This really means you get three free months of services once a year. This was not what I wanted. I was on a contract until September 2022, I wanted to honor my commitment that I made. As a consumer in transit from one home to another, I need options to pause my monitoring services and to meet my needs a consumer. I was even willing to renegotiate the terms of my agreement on the back end to extend it out further. I was told there were simply no options for me.

    I was once an avid promoter of Brinks Home, I was looking forward to installing the services in my new build this year. After terminating the agreement with Brinks Home and paying $288.83 to do so, others need to understand that if they need options, that a company that places you in long term contracts like Brinks will not offer you any type of options if you sell your home, even if your willing to take their services with you and need to temporarily pause those services.

    In addition, I find a company like Brinks that continually scrubs its social media of consumer comments highly suspect in its practices. Why does Brinks remove so many comments from its social media? Why are so many customers coming to social media to have their issues heard or resolved? Brinks alleges this is for privacy, as if we are talking about classified government secrets, but it's a well-known tactic among large companies to save face and control their image to remain profitable by deleting comments that could tarnish their reputation. They sent a stern message to my inbox in an attempt to quell my comments.

    Brinks wants to ensure prospective customers doing research don't see the issues that current or former customers are having because after they sign long-term contracts it really doesn't matter. It's sad because they do offer a decent product but few options for flexibility in a time when many consumers and the marketplace demand it. I would seek out alternatives to Brinks when shopping for home security and monitoring systems.

    I am writing this review to let the public know my experience with Brink’s Home Security. I am not a customer of Brinks, yet I received an email from my Credit Karma credit reporting service saying I was delinquent on a payment according to TransUnion Credit Bureau. I used to live with some friends over 4 years ago. I was a co-member of their security system with another company. Over a year ago this other company was bought out by Brinks. My friends made sure I was not on this new plan since I hadn’t lived with them for 4 years. Yet I got a bill for over $600?

    My friends had been in a dispute over an unfair billing. Brinks never took my name off their records as they said they did when they bought out the old company. So they went to me to get me to pay for an unfair billing. Worse, one of their South African call center reps told me my CC was still in their record and he had just deleted it. He told me it was a VISA and gave me the last 4 numbers on the card. I texted my friend who was outraged at Brink's lies. She sent me a pic of the CC the South African agent had said was mine!! It was her CC used to pay the Brinks bill. I put in a dispute with TransUnion (the only credit bureau affected).

    Brinks confirmed on a conference call with my friend and I the next day that they had the dispute and would resolve it within the 30 day processing allowed. I told them I would take legal action against them if they didn’t clear my credit report of the delinquent payment they illegally placed on my file. Bottom line, in my opinion, don’t use Brinks unless you want to have trouble, be lied to and get poor service. They have a 3.6 rating out of 5 stars on their reviews online.

    Brinks upgraded the system last week and it was perfectly fine. The young guy that came out was very nice. He's good. I was very pleased. Every time I've had a problem, they were right on cue. The only problem I had with the other system I had, they're now part of Brinks, it was supposed to be if I signed a five-year contract, it would not be increased. But they started to increase it. I said, "No. That's not what I was told." When you buy a company, you buy out their contracts too, so you need to adhere to their contracts. So, then they finally brought it down to where it was supposed to.

    While initially satisfied with the equipment and service I received from Brinks, I have become extremely dissatisfied after trying to move my service to a new address. I was directly lied to by the technical support representative regarding what equipment I needed. Additionally, I was told Brinks could assist me with the setup over the phone; however, when I called, I was told there was nothing they could do.

    After attempting to contact customer service and technical support on four separate occasions, I am either left on hold or the phone call disconnects. I also attempted to text customer/tech support, and the representative responded to my text saying “please call technical support.” I am not sure what caused this 180° change in customer service, but it is extremely disappointing and frustrating. I certainly will not be renewing my contract with this company.

    I had a big remodel at the house and new windows put in, so I called Brinks and they sent somebody in. We put new contacts on the windows and that went really well.     I have the system for almost five years. The technician came out to upgrade my system. He also helped me to unscrew a lock that I was not able to unscrew. The service is good, and the technician is excellent. But we had a bit of a hiccup in the beginning because I did not know that I have to upgrade my system. My service expires next year, but my system will not work in December. It didn't make any sense to me. Because if I paid for the contract for the whole five years, then they are supposed to give me all the service including the update because that is in the contract. I paid for everything. I never used anything. And then, if I have to pay for the upgrade also just because they upgrade the system, then that is not something that I know no consumers wanna hear.

    It was just because the screw was worn out. I could not find anything that matched the thing. For example, any information that I can go get the right tool. But they don't have that either. So, in order for them to come out and do something, I have to upgrade or extend my system for another 12 or 18 months. And I said, “That doesn't make any sense.” If that's what I have to do, then I have to just cancel the service, get another service in, and then get my new lock. Because if I have to go through that much trouble to get the lock open, then it didn't work. I haven't even used that service for the whole year because I was not able to replace the battery in the lock.

    The rep said, “Oh, okay. So, I tried to get a technician out for you. But in order to get the technician out, I have to have a new installment of something. So, I can give you either the sprinkler, or a sprinkler connecting to the service, or a new doorbell. And with that, you need to extend it for 12 or 18 months.” I said I did not want it. And then he said, “I can just send you the technician with $45.” I said, “Okay. I'll choose to have the technician of $45.” And then, we went around, and he came back at, “Oh, I’m gonna send you free, and with this feature or this feature.” I said, “Okay. So, I don’t have to extend?” At the end, he read the whole contract for me and I still have to extend it.

    At the end, the rep said, “Okay. I'll just send out the people to open the lock for you, and then upgrade the system for free.” He did a good job. But I experienced the sales pitch on top of it. I just expect that if my system expires, they should have called me, instead of I called them and they told me that I’m supposed to have my system upgrade. I feel deceived. I never have to call anybody because my neighborhood is safe. That's why when I called, I said, “Can I just cancel if I didn't use it?” And then, the lock was not working. And then, they tried to sell stuff. That is what I didn't like.

    I understand that when they have the customer service, they're trying to sell, they're trying to upgrade it. It’s understandable. But they shouldn't tell me that because my system needs to update, and then it will not work for the last six months before it's expired. And then, they did not try to do anything about it and asked me to upgrade it myself. The rep said that it’s not a breach of contract. It's just like, “Because we upgrade the system, so you have to upgrade with us.” But there's nothing in the contract that says that if they upgrade a system, I have to pay extra to upgrade it with them.

    The worst Customer service ever! I’m so frustrated, I moved from my house two months ago and I’ve been trying to cancel the account. This company is a joke, they put so many excuses to NOT cancel my account and I’ve continued to pay even though I moved because I’m afraid they ruin my credit. They say you can’t cancel by phone, there’s a specific time you can speak with a manager to cancel. They supposedly need to send you an email to cancel but I’ve never received one. Therefore the account is still active.

    When I finally got to speak to a manager he tried and insisted for me to transfer the service to my new address. I said no. I’m so surprised they can’t cancel only with a written letter, they validate me as a customer with my personal information and the secret word but they can’t cancel my account. I called today again. It’s after 6pm. That section is closed. Haven’t received the email not even in my junk email and I still pay for a service I’m not using. DO NOT HSE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU NEVER WANT YO CANCEL.

A technician had to come and update my system from 3G to 5G. I told the lady on the phone that I was not going to be home before a certain time and asked her to put a note down to make my stop the last stop.     Predatory practices against military and deceptive cancellation policies. **DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH BRINKS IF YOU ARE ACTIVE MILITARY, there is no "military clause"**. Originally signed contract with Monitronics 8/18 for monitoring and was told at the time of signing that if I was transferred before contact expiration due to PCS Orders, I would be able to cancel without penalty. I subsequently received involuntary PCS orders from South Carolina to Maine 07/19 and attempted to cancel but was told I could not cancel due to not selling the property at the time of transfer.

    I have been charged $71 a month (predatory fee) ever since for monitoring which hasn't been utilized. Transferring service as not an option as I am now in military housing which does not allow for the install of security equipment. I am now finally able to sell the property without financial burden and called Brinks to cancel - I signed the Docusign cancellation form and AM STILL BEING CHARGED AFTER THE FACT $71 a month. To top it off, the guy who handled my cancellation said Brinks may come after me for the remainder of the contract.

    I was able to get a free upgrade on our Brinks security system. It was being outsourced to another company and they cancelled it three times but eventually, I got it. The technician went into the basement and did something at the main base down there. He also told me how to set up the little beep thing. It just beeps every time you open a door to let you know the door has been opened. The system is great. I had a neighbor that’s feeding my cat and she did something that set the alarm off and I was notified immediately. It was good to know that if there would be a break in the system, we'd be told.

    Brinks sent me an email to upgrade to 5G. I set up the appointment and a guy came out on Monday. My alarm was so old and was considered obsolete so the guy replaced it for free. There are a couple of little differences now when I go to "arm away". I can just hit arm away, and I don't have to enter a code. With my system, I like the fact that I have the glass break option, motion sensors, and fire alarm because I have a dog. I have an old-fashioned smoke alarm but this calls the police or the fire department.

    Brinks security customer service is an absolute joke. I have been a good paying customer for years, this past November I switched banking institutions and called Brinks to update payment info. I have never missed a payment before this garbage service experience. The Agent not to my knowledge took my payment information incorrectly. It has now been over 5 months of me calling numerous times, spending hours on the phone with incompetent agents during my work day, getting hung up on by numerous agents trying to rectify the situation.

    My services have been restricted now for months and all they continue to tell me is to pay my balance. Not sure why I should pay my balance when I’m not provided the services agreed upon and continue to get treated like a low life. They threaten to take me to collections time after time for their mistake. All I can recommend to anyone looking for a security system is look anywhere but Brinks and/or Liberty security (as they are the ones that sold my contract without me knowing to Brinks). STAY AWAY FROM BRINKS COMPLETELY!!

    I had an account with Protect America on my home security system. The contract had expired. Brinks got my account in July of 2020. The 1st time I called Brinks they stated I was under contract with them until 2023. I asked them to email me a copy of the contract & they stated they couldn't email, they would send thru regular mail & I would get it within 7 to 10 business days. I waited 2 weeks & never got it so I called back & the guy stated he could email it to me. I said, "Great, I will stay on the phone with you while you email it to me." He stated it would take 72 hours for me to get it. I said, "Come on now we are in 2021, it should only take a few seconds."

    He also stated they did not mail anything with the US Postal service. I tried to cancel my contract & he stated he couldn't do it. I asked to speak to his supervisor & he stated he was the top man & wouldn't let me speak with anyone else. I went online & tried to cancel my auto payment but there is no option. I just called my credit card company & they will not honor any more payments to Brinks. The guy also stated we had a verbal contract, nothing in writing. I told him that is not legal in the state of Tennessee & he stated I was wrong. If you have an account & it is on auto-pay, just call your bank or credit card company & they will take care of it for you. They are nothing but CROOKS. Stay Away.

    We did not have an alarm system and my husband and I were both working full time. There was just the two of us in the house so the salesman’s approach put things in layman’s terms for us both and that sold the deal. My service was upgraded because we had a break in on December of 2016 and the alarm did not respond the way it should have. So instead of taking Brinks to court, we talked it out with them. Instead of going through a whole court hassle, they offered us outdoor cameras for free because we only had the alarm system. They kept the price the same. It’s less than $47 a month they take out of my account once a month. All these years later, I’m still with Brinks.

    My husband passed away three years ago so I'm widowed and I'm at home alone. Now, if I accidentally stub the alarm or disable it or go downstairs when it's set to pick up all motion, and I just happen to stumble downstairs at the middle of the night and forget to disable it, I immediately get the alert. It’s a text message and a phone call simultaneously.

    I love the ability to pull up my cameras from my cell phone and to answer the door remotely if I'm not at home. I’m able to monitor it online. Brinks has a quick response time in the event that I have a problem. Recently, the side camera was not connecting to the internet. I knew it was my internet service but I had my refrigerator moved to do some flooring and that unplugged the side camera from the system. I couldn't get back there to see it was unplugged so they immediately sent out a third-party technician to check out the problem. It was a reasonable cost. I pay my bill online and it's never late. The system and the professionalism and knowledge base that the representatives have is second to none. I would never switch.

    Brinks upgraded my system, was cheaper and seemed better than who I was with for 12 years. I like the system. Everything is touchscreen, so I don't have to enter a bunch of numbers to turn my alarm on or off. Also, I could check on my dogs with the video cam. But when I had to change out my router, it's a pain to change the camera. I tried to do everything it said online, but that didn't work so I had to call in. Also, I improved the number of actual video clips we can record, but I would like another indoor and outdoor camera added to my package. That would have been great.

    Updated on 05/12/2021: After a whole month of horrendous problems with my Brinks system and a system that was defective and not working at all, Brinks accepted my cancellation effective April 9th. I was assured by your customer representative that I would not be charged anymore following my cancellation. So image my surprise when I saw a charge of on my credit card on May 3, 2021. I understand this must be an error, and I do hope we can resolve this in the near future. If this is not resolved by the end of the month, you will be hearing back from my lawyer.

    Original Review: Worst experience ever. They just want your money not your safety. The alarm system stopped working and they did not even noticed - great surveillance skills... Spend hours on the phone with them trying to solve the problem. They keep making mistakes, sending wrong parts for repair. Failed to send a technician to repair. I would definitively not recommend.

    There's always the case when I speak to someone from another country and I don’t understand them very well. A lot of it is I'm a little bit hard of hearing. I had to hang up because I couldn't understand what they were saying and there was no sense in staying on the phone trying to talk to them. Other than that, I've enjoyed Brinks's service so far. They've done a good job.

    I was having trouble with the system here recently. I was getting all these emergency calls. Every time I handled my keys, the key fob is super sensitive and I was setting off an alarm that I needed help. I had police out here a few times because I didn't have my phone with me when it happened and I didn't even realize until the cops showed up. When I called, I tried talking to somebody to try to talk me through it to do it myself. I got ahold of a gentleman that I could understand pretty well. He got a little flustered with me because the board on the wall wasn't doing what he thought it should do. I asked him to send somebody out and they did. The tech did a very good job and he also tested the system to make sure that everything was working properly before he left.

    I liked Brinks a lot. I was with Protect America ad Brinks bought them out. Not only did they drop my monthly payment, but they also increased the level of service. I had a problem with one of my remotes, and I was upgraded to a really fancy nice remote from Brinks. They also upgraded my internal parts to my command center. I thought I was getting a little flat one, the new one they offer, but their rep said they were just sending me the gut, which is fine. She walked me through it. We put it in.

    I'm not crazy about the way Brinks handled the call outs when an alarm goes off. Other than that, it's okay. I had an alarm go off once and I told Brinks to send the police because I wasn't home. A door wasn't secure. Maybe some air got in between it, and it caused the alarm to go off. However, Brinks told me that they couldn't send the police. The rep explained it, and it made sense so I didn’t mind.

    I eliminated my landline phone and cancelled. Took two calls to customer service to get documents I needed to cancel service. That was 3 weeks ago.     The initial contact and the guy who came in was very nice and professional. There was a very thorough check of the sensors that the installer did. He went around and tested everything, and made sure the new panel connected to everything. The system works fine. Brinks called immediately if the alarm went off. However, they were very slow in getting things set up. It took them over two months to get into the house. By that time, the lady had mentioned things like, "Well, here's your rate. If everything's all compatible, it should stay at that rate." But when they came in to set up, they said, "Your panel is out of date. It will change your rate from $31 a month to $65 a month.” They had me under a 60-month contract, but I just said, "Well, I'll take my risk and I'll cancel on you unless you just upgrade the panel without this, what I considered ridiculous."

    They told me the price of the panel and the price of their sensors warranted it. And they are charging $125 for a sensor that I found online for 19. So, although it's a good system, I expressed to them that other companies come in and then install all the equipment, which they didn't have to do. And then they give their rates around $30. And they claim their service was better. They need to think about what they are doing to turn customers away in that environment, because I nearly committed to not being their customer. See if there are any statistics out there on the service you're about to buy on the response times, because the equipment is not a discriminator. It's probably equal across the industry.

    My wife had Brinks in her last house. But the customer service has been a little shaky because I've been trying to get the account changed over into my name. I'm taking over the bill payment of it. It has been a little tough getting that figured out. I'm hoping that with the next billing cycle, that will all take care of it. They ended up charging my wife's credit card, even after I had sent in the information for it to be switched. Getting some of these bookkeeping things taken care of, more expedient might be a preferred result. We're a special case, to moving and getting everything changed in name, all at once.     I had canceled my service and was planning to move. While remodeling, my sons talked me into staying. In the meantime, my back-up battery in my alarm system went bad. To my surprise they phoned the next morning and said they could make it then. The tech showed up. Reconfigured my panel to a cell phone instead of a land line, changed the system battery and checked every sensor. Went through all of the operating system again for me.     Patient, complete. We went through all the possible tests. This was the same problem I had with the other detector in 12/19, and the technician replaced it. We purchased an extra digital lock for another exterior door and he installed it, ensured that it operated perfectly, then checked and adjusted my other lock and all of my window and door contacts to ensure everything was working properly.     I place four calls to Tech Support without a resolution to the problem. By the fourth call I was thinking of canceling my service as none of the tech support staff would agree to send a technician to solve the problem. Brinks was sending a Tech to upgrade the cell phone function in the Panel. I him if he could solve the problem. It took him 5 minutes to resolve it. The panel kept sounding the alarm for a low battery in the Audio Smoke Detector (see photo). That is not the problem. See photo 2. This device is the Audio Smoke Detector. The battery was loose. Problem solved. Photo two (small box) is the item in question.
