I purchased a Maytag top-loading Atlantis washer from Taylor's Appliance on May 24, 2004 for $579.95. It is used for a family of 3, so sees below average use. Today, the washer started making a loud noise, and would not run the spin cycle. After doing some research, I found that many people have experinced the same thing, and also, not very long after purchase. From the reviews I read online, it was almost always the transmission. Ours sounded like stripped gears, so I looked, and traced our to the transmision too. My mother looked in our User's Guide, and said it was wrrantied for 10 years. So, we called Maytag to have them send the part. They gave us the run around, and said it was not warrantied unless a professional shop came out to repair it. Funny, it didn't mention anything about that in their published warranty.
They referred us to a local number finally and said we could exchange our bad transmission in Colton, CA. We called the number and it had been disconected. This is the worst service I have ever heard of. With only a two year old machine, you would think they would be more willing to make the problem right, but they are not.
I am on disablity, and have a very limited income. I bought this washer and dryer on time, and it took me a while to pay it off. I certainly can't afford to buy another one. A washer should last more than two years. Search the internet and you will see I am not alone with my junky Maytag

I called the company because my washer's electronic panel went out and the washer was dead. I also have mold on the door.
I called at lease 4 times. The first time I was put on hold 45 minutes and then disconnected. The second time, 20 minutes and disconnected. The third time I asked for a manager and was disconnected.
Two business days later I tried again, got hold of a customer service person and was told I missed a class action suit of which my machine qualifed to be a part of. They said there was nothing they could do now and that if I wasn't sent anything in the mail to notify me, it was too late.
I have to have a special technician come out to work on my machine. An expensive service call on my 2-year old expensive washer!

Mold was growing around the rubber seal and I could hear water sloshing in the machine after it had completed the cycle. I called Maytag and their rep told me it was not water I heard but a silicone seal???????
She told me to use clorox on a cloth to clean around the rubber seal. I did, but it did not remove all of the mold.
I have not had any mechanical problems yet, but it sounds like I can expect them. No more Maytag anything for me!!!!

We purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer in October of 2001. Within one month a repairman came out to replace the pump and the belt and motor insulator; all of this was covered under the warranty. Now in August of 2006 I noticed a burning smell and the spin cycle did not appear to be working. I mentioned my woes to a co-worker who infomed me of the Class Action Lawsuit. I had not received any information from Maytag regarding the ongoing porblems.I contacted Maytag and they informed me that the deadline to file for eligibility to be have my machine repaired at their cost was in August of 2005.
When I told them that I had not received the information they told me that their lawyers only required that they mail the information and that once they do this it is the customer's responsibility. In other words, assuming they mailed this information they had no culpability after that point. Why were letters not certified?

We purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer in 2002. Our first problem was with the moldy gasket. A serviceman came out and told me to dry the gasket after each use! Can you imagine having to dry a washer?! The gasket was later replaced due to a class action suit for the problem. The main and most upsetting problem is we get white spots on our clothes. I have continuously complained about this. I was told many things. First I should not use bleach. I stopped buying bleach! Then I was told not to use fabric softener, that it may mix with the detergent and cause spots. I don't buy fabric softener anymore either. I wrote Maytag, sent complaints, called them, e-mailed them, and sent photos Registered Mail to show the damage. The phone calls and e-mails were never returned.
When I called about the photos I was told by a MayTag agent there was no record of the correspondence and that she couldn't help me because she delt with correspondence only!!!! I wrote Mr. Ealy a third time. He finally wrote back saying there was no evidence the spots were from the washer. I have never had such poor costumer service in my life! If I could afford to I would through this One Thousand dollar appliance out in the street. I will never buy a MayTag appliance again!!!!
Our clothes have been damaged continuously over the years. You never know if your going to pull something out of the washer that's now ruined! Many of the itema are my daughter's that are expensive and she paid for herself. It's extremely upsetting!

The latest appointment was schedule on 7/7/06 for noon to 5pm on 8/4/06. i called to confirm today, 8/3/06; they don't have me on the schedule. NOW they want me to stay home SATURDAY between 7-5. NOW THEY HAVE A SATURDAY APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE? I was told by Maytag customer service that I should 'contact your insurance company' and file a claim on the flooring damages. this is, without a doubt, the worst experience i have ever had. We purchased a Top loader Maytag Neptune washer in Sep 2005. As identified throughout the internet and on this site, we have encountered numerous problems with this machine. The spin cycle is terrible...if you don't have a full load in, the spin cycle will not work...the machine will fault and the clothes sit there in the water for hours if you don't catch it. Mold smell on our clothes all of the time...even if the washing machine completes a normal cycle...particularly bad are the towels...when you use a towel after a shower, all you smell is the mold smell while drying off...sometimes it's enough to turn your stomach! Bottom line is this machine isn't worth $10.00...we have had repairmen out many times, but to no avail...they simply tell us we are basically screwed since Maytag won't do anything to help out.
Spin cycle works intermitently, always have to do a large load...small loads will never complete a cycle. The mold smell is terrible. A thousand dollars down the drain...we are going to be forced to go out and buy another washer, and believe me, we WILL NEVER BUY A MAYTAG PRODUCT AGAIN!! Please spread the word to all consumers in regards to Maytag's poor product line and how terrible their customer service is in trying to resolve problems!! Hopefully maytag will be brought back to court again to deal with their top loaders (last lawsuit was only for the front loaders)...I would love for the consumers to take them to the cleaners for a change!

I too, purchased my Maytag Neptune TL from Home Depot. Within a few months of purchase I noticed water drainage problems and RUST. Maytag finally acknowledged and provided a service call to fix the problem. My recent problem with the washer is now with its not completeing the wash cycle. It does not drain/spin and I am now awaiting yet another service call. With two small kids, waiting over a week is a great inconvenince to say the least not to mention the $142.00 service fee. If there is a known widespread manufacturing defect/problem with this model, has Maytag acknowledged it? Is there a Class Action in this regard with their committment/responsibility to their customers? I am extremely frustrated and feel there are no recourses available that would not bog me down timewise.

My very expensive front loading Maytag washer has developed a leak. Maytag says they will not cover this product defect since the washer is out of waranty. They imply that a leaking washing machine is part of normal wear & tear. A leaking washing machine seems more like a function of bad product design.

I have been fighting with Maytag now for three years regarding my Neptune washer. The washer cost $1000 and basically results in clothes that stink.
I complained to Maytag via the lawsuit settlement website they posted and only received a brush-off many times over. I complained to the BBB and finally was able to get a repairman to fix the washer after two years of complaints. The repairs never worked so I complained again.
So after once again getting no response from Maytag, I contacted the BBB. This time the BBB sent me a letter saying that Maytag was now brushing them off. So they referred me to some government agencies for consumer protection in both Iowa and Tennessee.
Through these agencies I got a response from Maytag suggesting that they had attempted to repair the machine and that is all they were obligated to do.

We purchased a Maytag Neptune washer in June of 1997 and have used it for nine years. Just now the motherboard went out due to the wax hinge motor part.
What is interesting is that our son has had chronic sinusitis since birth. He is now seven and we have discovered that the problem with his sinusitis may be the result of the mold that our Neptune washer has been harboring.
We've spent thousands on his health condition, trying everything from having his adenoids removed to a $200 per month prescription drugs.

My Maytag Neptune washing machine has a very bad mold smell. I talked to Maytag and they acknowledged that there is a mold problem, but refused to do anything about it and said it could not be fixed. They said to just keep running bleach through it for a year.
Even with running bleach through it several times a week and keeping the lid open, it still reeks of mold and makes the whole laundry room smell like mold, not to mention our clothes. The mold is also making allergies worse.
I can't believe Maytag will acknowledge a problem with their product and refuse to fix it or make it right. We spent over a $1000 on a lemon.

Home Depot and Maytag have turned their back on my complaints, it's basically my problem now. After 8 service calls from an authorized Maytag repairman - the machine is still not fixed. Replaced the clutch, transmission, and circuit board. I am so upset over this because the Maytag repairman doesn't know how to fix it! From the first load in my Neptune washer, I noticed that there was water inside the drum after the load was done. Being a mechanical engineer, I knew that this would lead to mold and mildew and sure enough it did. I tried cleaning the outer rim with bleach but the mold was still present. It never went away and only got worse.
Six months in the door switch and motor circuit board went out. The drum bearing is going out, it sounds like a freight train. It finally got so bad my clothes were smelling like mold. This product is of poor design.

I purchased a Maytag Neptune washer 1 1/2 years ago. I have had a consistent problem with this machine that makes it nearly impossible to finish a load of laundry. The washer will stop mid-cycle, the LCD blinks dc and the laundry is left sitting in a pool of water. I have tried everything but it seems because this machine does not have a central balancing piece, it fails to keep the laundry correctly placed, resulting in a heavy lump of clothing that can't be washed.
I have had the servicemen come and they replaced a sensor. This did not help. What is most upsetting is that I carefully researched before purchasing this machine.

When I was shopping for a new washer I didn't want anything but a Maytag, so I purchased the Maytag Neptune front load washer. Within the year, I got divorced and insisted on keeping the washer. I gave up my stove and refrigerator to my ex-husband so that I could keep my Maytag.
Shortly after, I noticed that my clothes were moldy and musty smelling. The inside rubber webbing was full of mold that I could not get off. The tub never fully drains of water and the fabric softener container always had water left in it.
If I didn't lose so much in my divorce, this machine would be at the curbside (probably with a nasty note attached).

The Maytag authorized repair man says that the machine needs to be rebuilt. We are trying to have the seal and bearings replaced at a cost of $300 and hope to get another year out of the machine while we look for some brand that is a lot more reliable.

My 6 year old Neptune washing machine sounded like I was washing rocks. The local authorized dealer told me it needed a new drive motor which was covered under warranty, although the labor was not. After the drive motor was replaced I was told it needed a new bearing and that it was covered under warranty. Then I was told it was not covered and that you couldn't get just the bearing, the whole outer tub had to be replaced. The outer tub in not covered under warranty, only the inner tub.
After several phone calls and hours later I got Maytag and they agreed to pay for 1/2 of the cost of the outer tub. Two or three tubs were shipped out from their distributer and received damaged. On 6-23-06 they finally came out and replaced the outer tub. The machine still made the noise.
They told me now I need a new pump, that there was a penney stuck in the pump. I called Maytag 4 times and was told someone would be calling me back. I never heard from them and called again and was left on hold for 22 minutes the first time, 20 minutes the second time and the third time was told that they would call me back first thing Mon am. I haven't heard from anyone. I tried calling again and am left on hold. When someone finally does answer the phone I'm told I'm speaking to the wrong department and transferred and left on hold again.

I purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer set ($999 washer, $749 Dryer) with an extended warranty ($249). I promply called the customer service number to get a shoe drying rack which for some reason was not included with the machine. At that time I registered the machines with them and they sent me the rack.
Then about seven months later the mold smell started and I called CS once again. They told me to clean it with dishwasher detergent and leave the door open. The problem did not seem to get any worse but I finally got sick of the hassel leaving the door ajar.
I discovered the lawsuit against Maytag online, but the deadline had passed. I called Maytag one more time and told them I was never notified of the recall and they said it was because I never registered the product. I explained about the shoe rack and the call about the smell, for which they said they had no record.
The wax motor finally failed and took the control board with it so now I have an expensive washer with black mold growing in it, which will not spin due to control board/wax motor failure. Cost to repair the control board will be around $400 I am told by Maytag and the repair to the door boot will be around $350.

I purchased a top loading Maytag Neptune washing machine from Sears and paid close to $1100.00 for it. It could do everything, the salesperson told us. I had to delay delivery for about 3 months, and once it was installed, it was nothing less than a nightmare. The softener container NEVER empties, and you can't remove it to clean it. The motion system totally ties my clothes in knots, to where I have to literally untie them to get them into the dryer.
Most annoying of all, you can't do a small, delicate load in it. I have read the manual, and it says you have to load it at least to the bottom row of holes in the drum. Well, I have to load mine over the top row of holes, otherwise it never completes the cycle because it is continually stopping and giving me an error message. I have had the technicians out to my house several times, and stopped in frustration because they keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with the washer. It is absurd to have to continually overload the machine just to finish the cycle. And, despite my constant calls to both Sears and Maytag (who didn't want anything to do with me because apparently once you buy from Sears you are on your own-buyer beware) no-one mentioned any type of litigation.

Worse, there is a foul stagnant water smell in the washer and on the clothing processed therein.
My many emails and calls to Maytag have been completely ignored. They have a "cone of silence" around their plethora of infamous trash washers that were named in a lawsuit Maytag settled by trading out machines or refunding consumers purchase prices. They replaced the ring washer in the door and said run Sunlight dishwasher detergent occasionally to make sure the mold/mildew doesn't reoccur. That was a year ago. Today, my Maytag Neptune washer continues to ruin our towels and cloths. The mildew smell is back.
I am mad as hell about this because their solution last year was a quick fix. I paid over $1,000 for a washer thinking it would be the last one I buy. I called Maytag today and they told me it was my responsibility and they could only send a repairman at my cost. Maytag has handled this problem poorly and the only thing I can do as a consumer is warn people to stay away from Maytag products. I am going to have to replace this unit with another brand.

My MOm's Neptune would tear up and then about 3 months later my washer would have the same problem. Big problems that cost over $400.00. So this year in August after many calls and repairs Maytag gave my Mom an offer for a $450.00 rebate if she bought another Maytag Fronload. She did and they were good on the rebate. Well, my washer's bearing system went out about 3 months after my Mom's, so I called Maytag to give me the same deal as my Mom and they will not stand good for it.
I have written a letter to the President of Maytag, Arthur Learmonth, and Wayne Penuing signed the Certified Letter. Maytag has not had the character to even respond to my certified letter. I wrote the letter on Feb. 12, 2006. I was in hopes that I would recieve the same customer service that my Mom had gotten. Needless to say, I will never buy a Maytag product again. I am a Nurse and I know what good customer service is all about. Maytag doesn't have a clue about Customer Service. I will tell every person that listens about my experience with Maytag.

I was reading all the complaints about maytag on your site and it breaks my heart to read people say they will never buy a maytag again. I have worked at maytag for 19 years. I own a neptune and had problems just like thousands of other neptune owners. Had to replace wax motor and control board. I filled out class action lawsuit paper work and had to deal with the same crap as everybody else.
Maytag knew this machine was not ready for production when they started building it, but I think you already know that. Even though the neptune built today is a very good machine its to late. Maytags reputation as a maker of premiun quality machines has been tarniished for years to come. My hope is that people will still buy maytag, but cannot blame them if they never do.

The Maytag dealer told us the Neptune top loader was the best of its type, that water levels and other adjustments would be made automatically, and that our clothes would be wrinkle free and clean forever. The machine uses too little water to clean or rinse - we have to go through two or three cycles to remove blobs of soap and even then shirts aren't clean, nor is anything else.
There are no automatic adjustments, according to factory repairmen. Maytag says it just doesn't get complaints about its Neptune top loader, but the Internet is filled with complaints and some reports that the machine is designed so poorly that it will be taken off the market. Meanwhile, $1,200 plus the cost of the dryer, refusal by the dealer to do anything, wishes of "good luck" from Maytag corporate and a shrug of the shoulder by company repairmen, our clothing emerges twisted and often damaged, unclean and with more frustrations for us than can be described. We feel we were lied to and now are being patronized. Our clothes still don't come clean.

Purchased Maytag Neptune Washer in 2000. Less than 6 years later, I am one of the many customers who got stuck with the the door latch, wax motor, motor control, and related circuit boards problems. Called Maytag and they basically said too bad. They advised us of a class action lawsuit that had occurred (which we never agreed to be a part of) and we were supposedly mailed information about it. Perhaps it was sent to our old address but the fact remains we weren't aware. So we are now stuck with a repair bill of $400-$500 because of Maytag's poor quality. I will never buy another Maytag again. I will tell everyone I know about my problems and do my best to ensure others don't get screwed over by this unscrupulous company.

I purchased this item (Maytag Neptune MAH5500B) in Feb 01 to replace a 15 year old Maytag top loader which had performed well. The new Neptune was only 2-3 years old before it started exhibiting control panel malfunctions. I received the lawsuit info and joined the claim in 2004 about the same time I was contemplating calling a repair man since the washer was still under warranty. The lawsuit claim resulted in Maytag sending a repairman to my home in Nov. of 04 only to tell me the things that were wrong with the machine, (moldy door gasket, door latch would not open unless machine was unplugged and every button on control panel was repeatedly pressed until it responded and I could get wet wash out) was not covered by the lawsuit and fixed nothing even though they were on the claim.
He then left. I moved the washer to the back shed for a once a month use for animal blankets and rugs. I then purchased a Whirlpool Duet which has been fine and does not lock wet wash in it.
In June of 05 I was called by Maytag (because the lawsuit then forced them to) and they sent a new gasket and motor to my home and the same repair man came and installed them. I told him how the machine was still behaving and he said it was not the control panel but the door latch which was not under warranty and told me where I could get one.

I purchased a Kenmore HE4t washer, dryer, 2 pedestals,a dryer kit and 2 added warrantees all on my Sears Mastercard (the total purchase was $3264.73).
I had a leak in the washer almost 3 weeks ago. It flooded my laundry room and a 3 thousand dollar rug mildewed. I phoned Sears the day it happened which was a Wednesday morning and they told me they could not have someone to my home until Monday morning between 8 and noon. I protested explaining that I had kids in sports and I desperately needed a washer for towels and uniforms etc. They would not accomodate me. When they did come not until 4:30 on that Monday, they examined the washer and said that they had to order a part. The washer was sent from the factory without a certain part and the technician wasn't sure how it had held up as long as it had without it but the motor sits at the bottom of the washer where the water flooding occured.
The machine would not be usable without this part and would continue to flood. He said it would take another week before he could come back and the part would be sent to my home some time that week. I protested again, explaining that I had 90 people coming to my home that Saturday for a party , 10 of whom were going to stay two nights. I needed to wash sheets and towels and would need one over the weekend in case children had accidents etc. He said there was nothing I could do and gave me yet another 800 number to call to complain. I called. They told me to phone my place of purchase and complain to them. I did that they told me to call another 800 number and complain that they could not help me.
We are now on week 3 and still no washer. So I spoke with someone in the "executive offices" they said they would expedite the part and then they would have a repair person there by Thursday. (this was last week, week 2) The part never came never came. I finally called repair and they had someone check into it. The part is back ordered. So it finally came at the end of last week, on Friday of week 2.
I called yesterday and they said I don't have an appointment until March the 1st. for a repairman. I called back to the "executive offices" and they had me on hold etc. for another half an hour. I insisted to speak with a supervisor. At this point I not only want a relacement machine, but I want the bad one repaired until the new one comes.

I called Maytag and waited on hold for up to 60 minutes, called the salesman (who doesn't return phone calls), had the service company over and had replacement legs, riser attachments, and put some sandpaper looking discs on the floor (like that is going to stop a 200# washing machine from moving). We were told by Maytag by phone that we would be notified by mail. We never got the notification and found out today that compensation time on the lawsuit had expired in 8/2005. Further phone calls finally uncovered why we were never notified. The warranty has of course, since expired. The day before yesterday the washer failed again flooding the house.
I Contacted Maytag customer service. I Was put on hold for 15 minutes waiting for a supervisor. I suspect that it was expected that I would give up, and hang up. The door latch is defective, the washer door will come open in mid-cycle, splashing scalding water in the room.
Clicked the handle to open the door during a cycle to add a drinking glass, waited a couple of seconds for the water to stop, then opened the door. Dishwasher started up when the door was fully open, splashing hot water all over me and the kitchen floor. My 1-yr-old grandson was in the room, but luckily wasn't hit by the water.
I called the number that Lowes gave us (a refrigerator magnet showing the number) for warranty service and was asked what the date was on our extended service policy, but I don't have any paperwork with that information. Purchased a Maytag washer and Dryer in October 04. Spent a year in Italy. So washer was used approximately 6 months. Washer model SAV515DAWW started to leak water. We called an authorized Maytag repairman and were told it needed a Tripple lip Seal, an outer tub and a milk stool. I was told that Maytag was aware of the fact that this particular model had a defective lip seal and was replacing it with one that is not defective.
When I called Maytag they refused to admit any such thing. When repairman came to repair said unit he discovered that the machine also had a bad timer. The next day he returned with the timer but when he changed the timer he discovered that the motor was bad and replaced it. He charged me $218 for the labor saying the parts were under warrantee. I did my first load (I had over 10 loads backed up) but half way through the cycle I heard a loud sound and the smell of burning rubber. I called the repairman who came back to check it.
He said the transmission was bad and he would have to order the part but I should know that it would cost me close to another $400 to change it because it's a 4 hour job. So my top of the line Maytag washing machine with less then 6 months of use had to have: Tripple lip Seal, outer tub, milk stool, timer, new motor, and a transmission. Needless to say I called RC Willey and ordered a new washer and drier to be delivered the next day. I believe that their advertising with the repairman falling asleep constitutes false advertising.
By the way a couple of years ago I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher and had to replace the motor and pump three times within the first three months.

At this time we pulled the rubber seal back in the front of the washer and we were completely blown away by what we saw, black and orange mold everywhere. Shortly thereafter, I received the mailer about the problems with the washer. I mailed it in immediately and have not heard back from them.
I have called several times and stay on hold for over an hour at a time. I am reassured by all Maytag Customer Service reps that this is normal to have a wait of ONLY an hour. The last conversations that I had were that the settlement department was waiting on the third party to correctly enter all info in their systems before they can issue credits, but it's been a common problem for them to lose the information. Well, since I left off pursuing this my twin boys ( 2 years of age ) were hospitilized for unknown causes creating swelling and their skin to peal.
The only thing that's changed in our life is this washing machine is getting worse by the minute and this may be the cause of many sicknesses in my family. I no longer allow my wife to wash clothes in this machine because we are terrified that our children will be hospitalized again. Therefore, we have been going to the local laundry mat until this is resolved. If this cannot be resolved within the next few weeks I will have no other choice but to seek legal representation.

On December 5th, 2005 I entered my laundry room to find water all over the floor, and flowing into adjacent rooms. I contacted the Maytag Customer Service line, and was taken on a journey of rude conversations, and very unhelpful people.
I was finally able to get a service provider scheduled, and needed to fight for the parts and a portion of the service call being covered by Maytag. Low and behold, guess who didn't arrive on the scheduled day, and called late in the afternoon, after my wife had taken off work to wait for the repairman. He stated that he didn't get the required parts. Again I was relegated to call the customer service line (an oxymoron) to try and get a resolve to the situation. I was able to get another service date, and also the conceded to cover the full cost, but only after over an hour on the phone, and demanding to speak to a supervisor. Once I was able to speak to the supervisor, he was quire rude, and frankly had no concern that their product was defective.
After a verbal tussle with this pleasant man, he put me on hold for 20 minutes, and then came back to say that against his recommendation, his supervisor has agreed to cover the service call as well as parts. The day before the next service call was to occur, we received a call saying that the repairman was unable to meet the obligation, and would not be available indefinitely. Again, I was forced to spend over an hour exercising verbal judo with their customer service line. Finally, they conceded to contract an independent service to perform the repair this upcoming Friday. Again, one of us will need to stay home from work to be there for the repairman.
I am not holding my breath, and fully expect another disappointing experience. I have suggested many times that they replace the defective machine, and was only scoffed at, and given the company line. I will continue to battle this situation, and I fully intend to express my concern to the retailer that is also selling this inferior product. When at all possible, I will replace both the washer and dryer and will never purchase another Maytag product.

I bought the Maytag Atlantis washer about 5 years ago based on the history of my 15 year old Maytag (still going strong for my mother). The Atlantis smoked a belt after 2 years, no problem, and I replaced it. From that point the washer was groaning and making a racket no matter what type of load was in the tub. I didn't think the noise was worth a $100 service call as I figured something was wrong with the transmission. The transmission finally failed and after reading all the complaints online I don't believe it's worth fixing. I also don't believe I'll be buying another Maytag or any other brand they buy. $120 a year for a reputation that is worthless now.

Since the timer is broke the dryer never shuts off, which has lead to extra gas and electric costs and loss of clothes due to shrinking. The dryer can run anywhere from 4-12 hours, if left unattended !!!!

My Atlantis Smells like sewer gases and mold. The machine has never stayed balanced and runs around my laundry room. Like the complaints I've read about the neptune. What's up with that? I bought a Maytag as I was told it was the best. Is that why they have commercials with the lonely maytag service repair man because the don't stand behind their product and ignore complaints?

We purchased our Atlantis washer in March of 2001. It was only 5 monthes later, that a Magtag service man was replacing the motor and transmission on the machine. It is only 3 years old and Iam having trouble with it once more. It is making a high pitch whinning noise. What gets me with Magtag and their service, is that the company every time I have called doesn't care!!!!!! A $800.00 dollar machine shouldn't be having all these problems. Because of their attitude, Iam calling my local T.V. station and seeing if going public with this will help. It's not that I'll ever buy another Magtag, it's just the principle. Magtag, you need another slogen!!!! You are not dependable!!!!!!!!

and the stench is awful. I have not contacted any one at Maytag or Home depot where we bought the washer. The reason we would not be helped with the problem. So here I am informing others not to buy this product since it has become a nightmare. I too, wash my washing machine more than my clothes. My poor husband is beyond himself trying to get to the problem.

thought at first it was the way I was loading the machine that was knocking it off balance it is super sensitive the least thing throws it off. So I made the necessary adjustments. Now however it is becoming an almost constant thing I empty the clothes into the sink then a bit at a time spin them. Maytage have said there is nothing they will do,also complained to the store where I bought the washer they say there is nothing they can do its up to Maytag.

We bought a Maytag Atlantis Quiet Plus washer and dryer Dec 1999 from Sears and got the service agreement. The problem is the washer. The washer was no longer quiet after a years use and it began to migrate/walk during the spin cycle. We have left the house on many occasions to come back and we could not get in the side door because the washer had blocked the path. We have called serveral times and had the same responses that I have read here from not loading the washer properly (after washing laundry for over 20 years)to our floor being not level. Funny thing is that a Whirlpool sat there for 4 years and never had a problem! We have just about the entire bottom replaced springs, stabilizer board etc. All was fine with it not walking but the noice remained. Learned to live with it now there is another noise coming from the washer.
All this from a company whom professes that their products are dependable. That may have been the case 25-30 years ago but its not today. I am very disappointed in their service department/warranty etc.. regarding this washer that I will not buy another Maytag product. For the money we have paid for service agreements, I could have purchased another washer.
We have lost time from work, weekend and vacation activities, washing machine downtime having to make arrangements for service technicians, their supervisors to come out to make repairs to this washer. Its a shame and should not be, when you purchase/invested a great deal of money in a reputable company that does not back their product.

I have had to take off from work 4 days just to have my Maytag appliances serviced. While the machines are still under warranty, my washing machine valve is leaking again and I cannot afford to take another day off work without the risk of losing my job! I am a paralegal employed by a law firm in Santa Monica, California. How does one explain to their boss that they must take a fifth day off work to wait for a washing machine repair technician?

In December of 2000 I purchased a new Maytag Atlantis washer and dryer. I have six children and plenty of laundry. I grew up with Maytag products since my mother would only buy the Maytag brand and had given away a 20 year old Maytag washer that was still working when I got a new one. I needed a dependable machine and felt certain that I would receive years of satisfying, dependable service from my Maytag machines. Unfortunately, this is far from what has happened. The dryer has been fine, but my washer began having problems about 1 year after I purchased them. It began with a noise that just didn't sound right when it was in the spin cycle.
It was still under manufacturer's warranty so they replaced the motor. I purchased an extended warranty (thank goodness)which has at least saved me the hundreds of dollars on repair bills. Since May of this year (2003) this washer has had the pump replaced twice, the transmission rebuilt, then replaced, and now they say they think it is a bearing. It has not been in working condition now for over a week. The sound that I originally heard has never gone and has worsened. It became a loud, shrill, whirring sound during the spin cycle, then developed into a clanking, and then began happening during the entire cycle. Now it does not spin at all. The technician is as frustrated as we are. He has even held the phone up to the machine for the Maytag technicians to hear. They say things like we don't really know what is causing that, try ....... or let's just leave it and see what develops.
Bottom line is that it has never been fixed. I have contacted the Maytag company multiple times - they refuse to replace the machine. I have contacted Maytag Dependability Plus (the extended warranty holder) they refuse to replace it unless four separate instances occur. However, they do not consider it separate unless it happens more than 30 days apart. In other words, I could go on forever having repairs done all as ONE Incident!! I feel cheated and thouroughly disappointed in the Maytag company - I'm having second thoughts about their products quality, but even more so, I have TOTALLY lost faith in their customer service.

My wife and I purchased a Maytag Atlantis Stainless Washer a few years back and we have had service call after service call. During the warranty period the local service company came out, repaired the problems, but never documented any of them with Maytag National. Here we are again, having to figure out how to make this thing work through the holidays (July 4th). Maytag appliances are not what they used to be. Maytag has done very little, even during the warranty period to rectify the problem, except to get the washer going again. They are reluctant to give credits for crap machines and just say oh well it's out of warranty now.

On Aug.12,2000 I purchased a MaytagAlantis washing machine from Sears. From March,2002 to Feb.2003 I have had 11 service calls on it, with the replacement of the Tempature Control Switch being replaced 3 times. It has now went down again. I recieved a letter from Ms.Bowerman saying that Maytag would replace it if any machanical problems occured within one year of Feb.7,2003. It's gone down again ( same problem), I call her, she tells me she wants to send one out that is comparible to mine, as they have quit making the atlantis. The one she wants to send me is not comparible money-wise.
I did some research on the Maytag with local dealers, some don't or won't carry maytag, one place told me the cost of the machine she wanted to send was $600. Compared to the $766.78 that I paid for mine. ( plus all of the service call cost and parts cost) I called her back, now she wants to refund my money AS Long as I send her a copy of my original receipt. She won't re-emburse me the tax's or the delivery fee. I have not kept the original receipt for three years. I can send a copy of the Visa Statement I paid with. I feel I am getting a run around. I have contacted the Visa Company and they are trying to find the copy of my payment( where I paid it all off at one time)This shouldn't happen to the consumer. I paid $1299.27 for a washer-dryer set in good faith to the maytag co. and Sears and their both giving me the run-around. I don't know about you, but that kind of money comes very hard to me. I was expecting to use this set without problems for a few years, but all I've gotten is a BIG FAT HEADACHE I would appreciate any help you might be.Thank you!!
