I am extremely disappointed in the product. My husband and I purchased the washer and dryer about 3 years ago thinking it was one of the best. The reason for this was I had a Maytag washer for over 30 years and had very few problems with it. It was still working when we purchased the new ones. Now less than 4 years later, it will cost at least $800 to repair the product and about $650 is in parts. I take good care of our appliances and this really irritates me, that we trusted a product this much. Now I hear from a lot of people that they also had this product and had the same problem. My question is, why were they not recalled? Every salesman and individual I have talked to says the product was junk. Yes, we will purchase a new washer, after hearing the other horror stories about this product. I will not spend another $800 on repairs to have another problem with it. But I can assure you it will not be a Maytag, Whirlpool or Kenmore since it is my understanding they are all the same and will not stand behind the product they are selling. What a piece of junk.

Purchased Maytag Neptune TL - top-of-the-line - state of the art - $900 washer 4 years ago. I knew Maytag reputation and wanted to avoid problems and have the best and most energy efficient, water saving washer I could find. The washer knotted up my clothes and left soap in them. An extra rinse was required so no water savings as promised. Quit spinning. Called local repairman who told me the clutch was out and it was not worth fixing, charging me $65. Maytag says "Get Lost". There are so many problems with this washer, so varied, that there was obviously no QC at Maytag. The washer is a Lemon and Maytag (now Whirlpool) says, "Too bad - it is not our problem". My last washer cost $198 and lasted 12 years before needing a repair. Clear case of corporate greed. The $900 washer is now junk. I want to know if there is ever a class action suit.

About four years ago, my wife and I purchased a Maytag washing machine, model # FAV6800AWW, along with the extended warranty. This past September, we started having problems with it. It stopped spinning. I called customer service and after several visits and several different parts were ordered, it was discovered that the part that I needed is not only not covered by the warranty, it's not even available. Maytag does not supply the item any longer! I wish I had known that when I first purchased this high efficiency washing machine.

Sears charged me $138.08 to diagnose and fix the problem. As I stated before, three different parts were ordered at different times. With each visit, I had to take time off from work. When they discovered they couldn't or wouldn't fix it, they told me they would refund me the money. The serviceman took back all the new parts and I have not been reimbursed. Now, I'm stuck with a 4-year old top end washer that can't be fixed and three less vacation days and I'm out of the overtime I could have worked on the days I had to be home to receive the repairman.

I have had problems with my Maytag Neptune Washers & Dryers. First, the lid locks failed and we could not open the lid. Now during the extraction mode, it sounded like the machine will explode. It has become a noisy piece of garbage. I am now researching for an alternative washer. I will replace it immediately because I am tired of the repair bills. I have paid for the original acquisition cost 1.3 times over in repairs, not to mention our inconvenience. I owned the most expensive washing machine on the planet!

I purchased my Washer and Dryer brand new on Sept. 26th, 2007 and since that date, I have had to have someone come out and repair my washer three times. The transmission has gone out all three service calls! Even the 800 number on the washer at the Maytag center, the several times I have called has had to extend warranties on this appliance so they could have it repaired. The service man from Shelton Appliances with whom Maytag sets me up with every time says that he has never seen an appliance have so many problems in two years, especially the transmission every time. I have a copy of the work orders and history of calls made. They have been within 6 months of each call. I would like to know how Whirlpool plans on making this right to me as the customer. It has been a very stressful and inconvenient matter. When you purchase something brand new and spend your hard-earned money, you expect it to operate properly and not have to be repaired every 6 months in the past year. Please make this right! The Dryer Model # is MED5570TQ and the Washer Model # is MTW5570TQO.

I had a Maytag washer delivered on Aug. 7th and have been trying to get it repaired since Sept. 17th. The first company, A&E, never showed up and the second company that was sent, Accurate Appliance, came to my house on Sept. 21st and told me it needed a new timer and it would take about four days. I'm tired. I cannot tell you how many times and left voicemail messages to return my calls without success. I called Maytag and also kept getting the runaround and was told they also left messages in my behalf and also faxed them but did not receive an answer either. The supervisor they gave me to call is the Carlton at 866-64-7146. I talked to him and he was going to see what he could do now. I cannot get him to answer either or return my calls. By the way, this was a brand new washer that I purchased.

My Maytag Bravos that was purchased in 2009 has severe internal damage. Maytag replaced it In October 2009 with the same model and the internal part was damaged again. There’s long delay in sending the part to the agent. The agent tried to fix it, but the part was defective. I wanted a replacement model and not a part due to the delay. The manager (Aaron) stated they couldn't replace it until the third time that it will be broken. Also, they lied about expediting the part. They didn't send the claim form for damaged carpet (water damage). This is general disrespect for the situation. The economic result was over $1000.00, not including fees to others for water use. I need a washer every day due to a special needs child.

Then the computer jams and you have to take the entire soap dispenser thingy apart. I cannot watch TV when it is going due to the sound. My local repairman said the Maytag quality has plummeted and he no longer recommends the products. He only repairs but will not sell them and he has supported Maytag products with his father for two generations. It sucks to be a Maytag. The repairman, not so lonely anymore.

I purchased a Maytag Centennial washer and dryer in July. The "hand wash" cycle is a joke. I truly cannot tell the difference between normal, delicate or hand wash - they sound the same and the clothes come out the same (wrinkled). I have had the store where I purchased the appliances come out and they say the cycle starts, washes and stops as it should. I do not disagree - it is how my clothes come out that concerns me. I hate this washer.

Stay away from this company since they care nothing about product quality or customer service. Guess the joke is on me for believing Maytag's hype. Bored repairman indeed! By accident we found that Maytag was replacing this faulty material. A local repair shop completed the repair and said it wouldn't do any good, that the mildew would reappear. Has it ever! It is in places you can only see, but not clean. It is in all the gaskets and rubber parts. It is on the softener dispenser. It stinks up the laundry as well as the utility room. My 4 year and 2 month old Maytag Neptune washer broke. I called Maytag warranty service, which in turn set up an appointment with A+E Factory Service for a repair visit. This visit cost me $129. The tech from A+E Factory Service told me the machine would cost $630 in parts alone to repair. Not happy with that news, I called Maytag and was transferred to customer service. They told me that I could get the parts from them at $530. I told them no. I'll buy another machine. It won't be a Maytag, but I feel that one of their washing machines, which is not yet 5 years old, should run for many more years without a breakdown of this magnitude and cost to me, the consumer.

I purchased a Maytag Neptune TL in August 2006 from Lowe's in Columbia, Missouri. It immediately needed locks replaced. Soon after, it needed the tub, gears, etc. replaced. The Maytag repairman came and repaired all the items. He stated that it was basically a "rebuilt" machine now, and we shouldn't have any issue with it for a long time. Well, now it will not complete a wash cycle and stops in the middle of any setting. I don't understand why Maytag would promote and sell such a product that needs so much repair.

I have tried to troubleshoot problems rather than hire a repairman. While researching on the internet, I am finding that I am not, by far, the only one having problems. There are so many people with complaints on this machine, and I think that products should be designed to last and last longer than a few months before needing the first round of repair. Thank you for taking my opinion, and I hope to receive a response from you and/or Maytag.

In April 2005, we purchased the Neptune top loader washer and dryer at a local Home Depot store. Exactly 3 months after this purchase, we encounter our first problem with the washer locking sensor. Initially, we contacted Home Depot about the problem. They informed us that the problem was a manufacturing problem and therefore, we needed to contact Maytag directly. We then contacted Maytag and reported the problem and were told that we would need to contact one of their technicians to have the problem fixed. Upon diagnosing, the technician determined that the washer computer board needed to be replaced.

A couple of months after the replacement of the washer computer board, we again experienced another problem. By this time, we went back to Home Depot and told them that we wanted to return the washer. Home Depot told us that they couldn't take the product back because it was a manufacturing problem and that we needed to contact Maytag. Maytag refused to take the product back and informed us that they don't take products back but would have their technician fix the problem again. Needless to say, Maytag is not a consumer friendly company.

Basically, we got stuck with a defective product. We were given the runaround and being bounced from one department to another and being put on hold for long periods of time with no resolution. It has now been 4 years since we purchased the washer. The computer board to the washer has been changed 3 times since then and the locking mechanism sensor has been repaired 3 times. Every year during these 4 years, we have had to contact Maytag for repairs on this washer. Every year since we bought the washer, we have purchased an extended warranty. Unfortunately, we did not renew our extended warranty on time for this year, 2009. By the time we were able to purchase the extended warranty on September 1st, my old warranty had expired.

On September 21st, we contacted Maytag for service on the washer again. I was told that since my old warranty had expired before I renewed it, that there was a 60 day waiting period before my new contract would be effective on October 31, 2009. I was also informed that since this is a pre-existing problem, it would not be covered even when my extended warranty became effective. I explained to Maytag that this problem was the same problem that I have been having since I purchased the washer in 2005. I then was transferred to a supervisor in the Service Department. After explaining the situation to her, she suggested that since this was a manufacturing and recurrent problem, that I should speak to the Manufacturing Department to see if they would take the product back.

I informed her that I didn't see how that would be possible since I had already tried doing that 3 months after I purchased the product and Maytag didn't take it then. She gave me their phone number and suggested that at least I give it a try and that it wouldn't hurt to ask. I then contacted the Manufacturing Department to no avail. I was informed that they would only fix the product and not take it back. And basically told me that since I let the warranty lapse between the renewal of the new contract, that I would be responsible for fixing the washer on my own, and that I would need to submit proof showing that the problem was fixed. Needless to say, I contacted a Maytag technician to come to my house and diagnose the problem. It turns out that the computer board has to be replaced once again.

He proceeded to inform us that they have been having a lot of problems with the Neptune washer computer boards. He also informed us that it would cost us $461.00 to replace the computer and that he would guarantee the computer for only 3 months. He said that they used to guarantee it for 1 year but it was changed to only 3 months. Well now, we are stuck with a broken washer that keeps breaking down every year. Why isn't there a lemon law to protect consumers from companies like Maytag? There are a lot of complaints against Maytag and yet they fail to compensate their customers. We will never ever purchase a Maytag product again.

We bought a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in 2003. We now find out that the bearings are going out of my washer. As my husband and I are the only people in our home, I only do laundry for the two of us. I have taken very good care of this set; they still look showroom new. We chose Maytag with the belief that this would last through our retirement years. Now we are told that the repair will be well over $500.00, because the tool the repairman had to buy for this repair is around $1,000.00. I think if this was a known problem that Maytag should have had a recall and fix this with no charge to the consumer.

Now we are going into retirement with a broken washer that we expected to last the rest of our lives. If I would have known that Maytag was not the quality that it used to be, I would have chosen another brand. We now need to replace the bearings and do not have the money to do so. I am on S.S. disability and my husband has just applied for S.S. last month. We don't have that kind of money to pay for the repairs. That shouldn’t be needed in the first place.

We purchased a Maytag Front Neptune and dryer in December of 2000; didn’t have any problems until 2007. That’s when we had to have the circuit (mother) board replaced at a cost of just under $300. Now in June of 2009, the machine would not spin. We had Sears come in and they replaced the timer. When doing so, the serviceman then tested it and popped the breaker. He then said that we needed a new starter and another piece that goes with it. We waited for over a month and were finally told they (Sears) could not find the part anywhere to fix the unit. We could not wait any longer so we went out and bought another washer as the cost of going to the laundry mat was getting expensive. To date we have a Neptune sitting in the garage with a broken start button. It’s hard to believe that a machine that is 8 years old is obsolete for parts. It makes me feel that someone is trying to hide something from the public on these units.

It’s a Maytag Neptune Front-Load machine and I just paid $400.00 to have it repaired because they put faulty parts in them which required me to have to replace a bunch of other parts because they all needed to match and work together in order to operate properly. My warranty says the motor is covered for 5 years and that was what went wrong but because the harness and controls only go with the new style replacement motor, I had to by all of that also. It was their mistake by making the units faulty in the first place and I am so disappointed with my original purchase. I was not aware of any class action lawsuit because of a mold problem when I bought my washer. Had I known about it, I wouldn't have wasted $600 on this washing machine. I did buy it at a scratch and dent sale, so I didn't pay full price like other people. I will now have to buy a new washer, so my family and I will have clean, nice-smelling clothes to wear. I should not have to buy a new washing machine after only 3 years due to a problem I was not aware of.

Save your money and do not buy a Maytag Neptune frontload washing machine, unless you want many headaches and clothes that smell horrible after you wash them. Once again the dryer doesn't work. I called to set the appointment for repair and I was told that they already have invested more in the dryer than what I paid for the dryer, and will not service it or replace it. To rule out the possibility of unbalanced loads, I ran the washer without any laundry items in the tub. The machine was also checked for level. I called Maytag's 800 number and was told that this was an unusual complaint and that there was no history of this noise being a widespread problem. The representative then informed me that Maytag may cover the cost of any defective parts, since the washer was so recently out of warranty, but any labor costs would not be covered. I thought perhaps that I was just unfortunate with this particular washer, then I came upon this website. I purchased a new Maytag Bravos washer and dryer. Both were horrible to the extent that I had to send them back and buy a different set. The washer twisted articles into a tangled mess, didn't get clothes clean, and put in wrinkles due to the constant intense spinning. The dryer caused more wrinkles and would change cycles on its own; e.g., if I specified 20 minutes, after that time, it would re-set to 60 minutes. And it's much too hot! I had to watch both machines constantly to prevent damage to clothes. The technology is seriously flawed in these machines.

Bought top-of-the-line Neptune front-loading washer & dryer stackable in 2001. No problems for the first five years and I LOVED the machines! Then in 2006, the washer stopped spinning; the cycles would finish with clothes soggy wet. So I called the repair line from Maytag's website. Although they come through on the repairs, it's $75/visit with limited warranties on the parts & labor (3 months). As soon as the three-month time period expires, the washer stops spinning again and I'm out another $75. It costs $200/year to keep the machine running; it may be cheaper to purchase another front-loader...but NOT from Maytag. I'm thoroughly disappointed with the brand.

Under the name Maytag, the company designed and sells a HE washer that develops mold, mildew and odor-causing residue in hard to reach areas, which I bought in recently. Today, I received a letter from the company that proudly announces a new Affresh Washer Cleaning Kit they want to sell me. So we now have a company who sells a poorly-designed product (washer) and then created a new product which they now want to sell me to overcome their design flaws?

Maytag Washer SAV205 DAWW Legacy Series was purchased in October 2003. After about 6 months, the washer became really loud. Service on the washer was still under warranty. The washer was fairly quiet for another 6 months and then became really loud again. I had a service call again (not under warranty). Repairs including service call were approximately $165-$185.

Last year, the washer started making grinding sound. I contacted Maytag by letter on June 29. They advised they would give me a 15% discount on any replacement Maytag or any other Whirlpool branded appliance. I decided to forgo their offer, and put up with the grinding noise. Two weeks ago, I noticed water on the floor (small amount) and had a service call today. Repair person said the washer needed a "main tub seals with bearing" and it would cost anywhere from $300 to $350. It was his recommendation to replace the washer since we were running the risk of causing the wooden floor under the washer to deteriorate. Also, I was told the washer had probably been leaking for about 6 months from the appearance of the interior.

I just sent another email to Maytag. I am furious. I bought the washer and dryer following the completion of a first floor laundry and figured they would outlast my husband and me. We're in our 70s, so it's not like I'm doing an excessive amount of laundry. I sure wish there was a class action suit. I asked Maytag if we could receive more than a l5% credit. What I would really like is to have the washer fixed and would be willing to share costs with Maytag (their response to me was that they also were consumers and understood my frustration). How insulting!

I bought this Maytag Atlantis in 2005 and within the first 6 months, the transmission went out on it. In less than a year, the problem arose again. And because of the warranty, they came back out again and did an adjustment that worked for a couple of months. The warranty ran out and then now some of the cycles quit working. I have to use the extended spin and sometimes the extra rinse to get a load of clothes clean and to get the water out of the clothes. It is putting holes in the clothes too.

Now, this washer stinks all the time and I have to run bleach in it at least once a week for the mold and odor. I paid a lot of money for this machine, and thought it would be worth it because I had a Maytag before this and it lasted 22 years. When I save enough money, I will purchase another washer, and it will not be a Maytag. This has been a piece of junk. Consequences: mold and odor, chews up the clothes, have to use more water to rinse clothes and more utilities to spin the water out of the clothes.

In 2005 I purchased a Neptune Washer and Dryer from Appliance Connection in Moundsville, WV. It was over $1500. It has had to be repaired several times. On the 19th of August the repairman came again and I was told several things were the matter. The control panel had a problem, the motor had a problem, there was oil and grease on the floor under the washer. There is also mold on the gasket. I was advised that it would cost too much to fix it and I should just get another one. I was also informed that these brands were not being made anymore due to these same problems and that Maytag sold out to Whirlpool.

I started to look at the Internet and ran across story after story about the same issues I was experiencing. There were also issues with the dryers of overheating and running the cloths. My dryer casing gets so hot at times it cannot even be touched. I also found that some models were recalled due to fire hazards. There was also a class action lawsuit involving my washer model. This was in 2004 and paid out to the people the money they paid or replacement certificates in 2005. I bought mine in April 2005. Appliance Connection after contacting them acknowledged they knew about the lawsuit but had to sell the appliances as they were a Maytag dealer. According to Whirlpool it was there option to sell or not sell.

The bottom line is that I bought a washer and dryer that was still in the stores after they had been part of a lawsuit for defective equipment. Whirlpool has offered me a option. That is to buy a new washer and they would give me 15% discount once I sent them the purchase information. I asked for this is writing and was told that as soon as I produced the paperwork I would receive the money.

So I believe that I should have never been able to buy the washer and dryer in the first place as they were defective and should have been pulled out of the stores. I was not informed by Appliance Connection there was a lawsuit on this model and now since these are the same machines in question I should be compensated just as those who were part of that suit. I am trying to also pursue the mold issue as a health issue. I and thousands of others are in the same situation so I think it is time to revisit the class action avenue for those of us who have the models in question.

The economic damage is that I have already paid out for the washer and dryer and the repairs and should not have to put out more money to have a washer and dryer. I am not sure with the mold issues if this is not a physical issue as well. I have an elderly mother with health issues and a son who is in the intensive care unit right now with respiratory problems.

Most recently, a bearing has gone out and I think the neighbors hear my washer in the spin cycle. Of course, it is out of warranty and Maytag won't even offer any incentives to help repair this machine or help us to buy a new one. I have a Neptune front load washer, and the machine has had a motor and timer replaced. The clothes do not come out clean. I have spots on the clothes after they are washed, even with the extra rinse cycle. I have taken apart the soap/bleach dispenser on the top of the machine, because it is rusting under the plastic dispenser, and the rust is flushed out when the water is being pumped into the dispenser, dumping it into the washer drum, and getting on the clothes. The other problem I have is that I have to use tweezers to pull out the wet lint, which stays trapped around the brushes that are around the grey drum seal, and this takes about one hour sitting on the basement floor. I believe this is causing a musty, mold smell when the wash cycle is complete.

Also, I was told by the repair guy to leave the machine door open to dry it out from time to time, which I did try numerous times, without any promising results. He also suggested running a bleach cycle to clean the machine, but that did not help the smell. I believe the pump on the machine does not totally pump out the water and that water sits in there and also causes the smell. This front load machine is supposed to save water, but if you have to run it once a week without clothes in it to clean it, or run the wash twice because the clothes are not clean, then how can this be economical. On the other hand, this is just one more piece of junk added to the overflowing landfills.

I am so tired of the junk that is being produced now. I had a top load Maytag washer, which lasted 23 years, before I purchased the Neptune. My old machine ran two or three times a day, because of my four kids, without ever having had a service call. I purchased the new Neptune when my top load Maytag machine finally quit working because my husband said it was probably not worth fixing because it was 23 years old. I am sorry I didn't just get it repaired. I now have a fairly new piece of junk that cost almost triple the amount of my old Maytag, and it still is not working the way they say it should.

Whatever happened to "made with pride in the USA", and not the made in some foreign country for a profit only. What option do we have as consumers? Our only option as consumers is to purchase another appliance every couple of years, and keep filling the landfills with the junk that is being produced. I would rather pay a little more for quality that is guaranteed to last for years, than fill the landfills with the junk we are forced to buy because no one believes in making quality products to last. They only believe in making quantity products for profit. My family and friends all will be informed of this piece of junk, so they will not have to deal with the problems I have had to.

Complaint: one year later, the washer would not drain. Repair was called. Three visits were eventually fixed. The cause was a coin in the pump. A few months later, the washer would not work. Repair was called and it took two visits to determine the pump was broke. We replaced the pump in January of this year. Complaint: On July this year, the washer would not work. Error codes would not display. I contacted FixYa online. Good advice: "pump was bad.”

Complaint: we have 90 days on parts and warranty; they took out the pump only after the 90-day warranty. I spent my money on my dream of having a Maytag washer. There’s no resolution to complaints made. Maytag still won’t work and I continued contacting Maytag with emails (after form was submitted, they stated that the site was under construction, try again later). I called and stopped into the Maytag dealer where I bought it and they said to contact Maytag. I have had no luck getting through calling. I wrote a letter - no response as of today.

There’s no resolution to get machine repaired (90-day warranty on machine and parts). There have been more days in the 3 years that I have had the machine that it did not work than the days it did work. I went to the Laundromat. I will have surgery this Friday. I will have no use of right arm due to the rotator cuff injury and will not be able to drive for 4 months. It’s difficult to accept that Maytag are not standing behind their products when they cost so much. People buy reliable products so that they can count on them and experience ease of use if they are disabled and do laundry at home.

The washer has been terrible. About 6 months ago, it started to sound like a piece of heavy machinery that had not been oiled for a year. How many of us could provide a product/service for thousands and thousands of people, have it work for a very short period of time, and then make every one of those customers pay again to have it fixed, or even worse, purchase a new one all over again! We would be in jail if we did things like this. Like everyone else, I don't have the money to purchase a new washer nor do I have the money to go to the laundromat for the next year while I save up the money. Today, a repairman (from the official Maytag service company in St. Louis) told me, in essence, I needed to buy a new washer because this round of repairs would cost more than buying a new washer. Among the repairs were a new pump and belt, idler and spring, the main/triple seal. He said the main or primary bearings were out. The total repair cost was in the neighborhood of $490. So I paid the $89 service call and called customer service at Maytag.

The best they would do is a 10% discount on a new Maytag washer. Given this, I decided to buy a new washer (from Home Depot) that is not manufactured by the company which makes Maytag (I bought a new GE washer). The repairman told me this should not have happened to a five year old washer. I wanted you to know how extremely disappointed I am in my Maytag washing machine. After 25+ years of marriage, my husband and I were in need of a new washing machine. Our old Whirlpool was 15 years old and had about 3 visits over those years from our repairman, when it was time to buy new. I talked my husband into going with the best - a Maytag. After all, we were not newlyweds but well-established career people and I did not want to have a mismatched washer-dryer setup.

So, we paid the extra money needed to upgrade to a Maytag top-of-the-line Neptune. After all, I told him it would last for 20 years based on the reputation of the Maytag name. We have three grown-up-sized children and needed big capacity and longevity. Even though our dryer was still working fine, we got a new matching set (spending around $2,000).

Four years later, my washer repairman told me that the seals and bearings on my new Maytag Neptune needed replacing! What?! You're kidding. It's only 4 years old! It would cost $800 (3/4 of what I paid for it) a trip to the shop to be broken down, plus parts?! Four years earlier, I could have spent $300 for a machine that lasted only 4 years, not $1,000! Now, it needs costly repairs? I could have gotten a brand-new washer for that. But no, I insisted that my beautiful Maytag set stay together. So we paid $800 for the repair. After all, it would last at least for 4 more years, right? Wrong. It lasted 1 year and 5 months! One year and five months later, it was broken down and leaking again!

I could not justify another $800 (It was the seals and bearings again.) to repair it. I went to Sears and bought a $400 Kenmore washer and had the Maytag hauled away. Now, I have a mismatched set. I can only hope that the Maytag dryer will last as long as my Kenmore washer. I am hearing from salespeople, as well as repair men, that evidently Maytag created a lot of junk for a few years that there was a lawsuit? That some customers received some kind of compensation for the poor quality of this machine.

I'll tell you that I received nothing but financial hardship, disgust over my bad timing, and great disappointment in my selection of Maytag. I am a public school elementary teacher and cannot afford mistakes like this again. I will do my homework in the future and not rely on a name again. As far as the name Maytag goes, I will never buy anything (nor recommend to others) anything with that name ever again.

I did not figure a washer that cost less than $400 would need a extended warranty which costs $337 for three years or $132 for one year; also, since my mother had a Maytag for over 20 years and needed no warranty or service repair the entire time. Guess what? Within 11 months of the new timer being installed, it is now not working again. So I'm guessing the timer has only an 11-month life.

I purchased a Maytag Top Load Washer in 2007 from PC Richards. It is now June 2009 and I was told by a PSEG technician that the problem was the transmission. I called Maytag and was told by them the warranty was only for 1 year for my model, MAV2755AW. Oh well, I guess this is how Maytag stands behind its products, 2 years and the transmission blows. How can a company do this to consumers who trust in their brand! Disgusted w/ Maytag.

My husband and I purchased a Maytag Neptune front loading washing machine (model #MAH5500BWQ) and a dryer through Sears on 9/13/06 to put in our new house. The washer has developed a very loud noise when it spins. I asked the Sears technician, who was here servicing another Sears appliance, to listen to the noise and tell me what could be wrong. He said the bearing was gone. I told him we had only had the machine for less than three years. He said he has seen the bearing go as early as eight months after purchase. He said the casing around the bearing is plastic and doesn't hold up. I asked what it would cost to repair and he said about $500.00 for the part and another $200-plus for the labor because it takes two men to take it apart and fix it. I told him that was as much as I paid for the washer. He said he knows, but that's the way it is. He said there have been many complaints about this issue. He said Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool.

Is there anything we can do to remedy this situation? It seems unfair to buy a product of that cost that was explained as a great machine and have something this expensive go this quickly. It has been making noise for several months now. Thank you for any advice or help you can give me. He says if the bearing breaks, water will keep leaking and could do great damage. He says to never leave it unattended. It is only my husband and I. And I do 2-3 loads a week. I'm so disappointed.

After having my new Maytag washer delivered and trying out one small load, I found that the instruction book failed to list the problems associated with an auto-water level sensing feature. The machine will not fill with water or operate if the lid is opened. Therefore, if you want to add one more item to the existing load during the initial fill, the water level automatically fills to the maximum, even if only two small items are in the load. How can this be considered and energy star appliance when the automatic water conservation feature is inadequate?

Once the washer is delivered into your home and hooked up to the faucets, it becomes a used appliance, even though it has never been used. It can then not be returned or exchanged, even though at the time of purchase, the feature's flaws were not explained or even mentioned to me. I now have a brand new "used" washer that uses twice as much water as a non-energy efficient model.

On July 2, 2009, I hired Jose to fix my Maytag stackable washer in my home. Jose came along with another person named Chuy. I explained to Jose that the washer would wash clothes but that it seemed to not be spinning because there would still be a lot of water in the clothes as well as in the water after it stopped. Jose stated that the washer needed a water pump. When I asked for the cost, Jose stated the cost with parts and labor would be $200 and I would need to give him a $110 deposit in order to fix it.

I gave him the deposit, and on July 3, Jose, along with Chuy, returned to repair the washer. Jose came to me when he had finished the work and told me that the washer was completing the washing cycle but it was indeed fixed, and he collected the remaining $90 for the work. After the washer stopped, I put a load of clothes in. But when it stopped, I still had the same problem as before. I immediately called Jose and informed him of the problem. He told me that he would return the next morning, July 4, to repair it.

I called Jose the next morning to confirm the appointment, but I was told by Jose that he would not be coming because it was a holiday but that I would see him on Monday morning at 9:00 am. At 10:30 am, I called Jose, because I had not heard from him. He told me that he forgot that he had a doctor's appointment and that he would be at my home after 11:00am. At 3:00pm, I contacted Jose, and he informed me that he had needed to go to the hospital to have test done on his liver. Jose told me that he would be at my home on Tuesday.

Then on Tuesday morning, I did not hear from Jose; but by Tuesday afternoon, a person by the name of Edgar showed up at my home, saying he was there to fix my washer. When I asked where Jose was, he told me he didn't know he had other clients but that Jose had hired him to fix my washer. I asked him his name, and he told me his name was Edgar. I asked what company he was from, and he said Garcia Appliances (562-423-8199) in Long Beach, 741 East Artesia Blvd. He worked on my washer on Tuesday. When he was finished, he left the washer running and he instructed me to call him after it completed the cycle to give him the results.

When it finished, I called to inform him that it was not fixed. I called Jose on Wednesday morning to let him know that my washer was not fixed. Jose never returned himself to fix my washer. Edgar returned again on Wednesday, but at the end of the day, I still had the same problem. I contacted Edgar again as he instructed me to, only to be able to leave a message letting him know that not only was my washer not fixed but that now, the washer is cutting off at the wash cycle and not starting. I had not had that problem before. Edgar never returned my call.

I contacted Jose this Thursday morning, July 9; and Jose was very rude and belligerent. He stated Edgar would not be coming back. I asked him why would he not fix my washer since I did hire him; I paid him $200 to fix my washer, and I have a 6-month warranty that is stated on the receipt. He told he that he would only give me back $100, because he claimed Edgar's service was over $350. But he would not give me the $100 until Saturday after 1:00pm. I had requested an invoice for the water pump, which I never received or an itemized list of the work from Edgar.

I contacted Garcia Appliances in Long Beach, and I was told that Edgar was not an employee but that he did work for them from time to time. I was told that they would contact Edgar on my behalf, but I have not heard from anyone. When asked, Jose would not provide a business address or a business license number. I did a telephone search, and the telephone number is not under Jose Gonzalez or Gonzalez Appliance, but it is under Mario ** at Los Angeles, CA 90059. I asked Jose why won't he fix the washer since it is his business, and there was no legitimate response. I never asked for my money back. I would like for my washer to be repaired, and I think I have been fair and have given him an ample amount of time, even though I am frustrated. The reimbursement was Jose's solution, but only for $100 and at his discretion.

I am on a fixed income, and I don't have the money to hire someone else at this time. I feel it is only fair that I be reimbursed the total amount of $200.00, if anything. My daughter Mina also contacted Jose regarding his business ethics as well. You may contact Mina and my daughter LaRhonda, who can vouch for everything that I have told you.

One of the springs broke (probably from the violent spin cycles) dropped onto the motor/wiring then shorted out the circuit board. Good riddance! We spent a lot of money for this appliance and have been unhappy ever since. The washer we had before that cost 1/2 as much was so much better and lasted 20 plus years. We purchased a Maytag steam washer, supposedly top of the line. Within one month, the machine would not work. It was obviously defective, but we were told it could not be replaced. We waited for a week before anyone would come to look at the machine. We waited another two weeks before anyone would come back with the part. During that two weeks, we attempted to contact the service providers, but they would not return our messages, would not answer their phones and even turned them off after we attempted to call.

Of course, they finally come, but Maytag had told the repair man to order the wrong part. I called myself to order the part that they now say they need and was assured that it would arrive the next day by 4:00 p.m. Of course, it did not arrive. When I called to check on my part, all I am told is that my order did not go through but that they would send it again.

So now, I am waiting two to three more days. I asked to speak to management and was treated horribly. He told me that they would no longer speak to me about my past inconveniences and that he would only talk to me about the part not arriving and that he would not compensate me in any way. He told me that I should not have scheduled service so late in the day, even though I was assured by his service department that the part would arrive. I have already waited nearly a month, of course, I wanted the machine fixed as soon as possible. I am now out 4 days of work. I have no clean clothes to wear and the machine is still not fixed. I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life. I will never purchase another Maytag or Whirlpool appliance.

We purchased a washer and dryer set on 03/17/2006. Since 2006, we have had multiple problems with the washing machine. Maytag has replaced the circuit board twice and the console once. On June the 7th, a repairman came to fix our washing machine again. He called another repairman on June 15th, at which time he let me know that the circuit board needed to be replace again and some valves on the unit was not properly working. The Maytag repairman was to order the parts and install them within 7 to 10 business days.

Two days later, I received a call from the Maytag repairs office informing me that my washing machine was no longer covered under the warranty. I was told that a person from logistics would be calling me. Andrea from Maytag Dependability called me on June 24th to explain that the repairs to the machine had exceeded the purchase price and there was nothing they would do for me. I asked her where we could find this information as in the clause of the warranty. The section she told me to look in is as follows:

    3. Claim Limitation

The total claims limitation under this contract is the original purchase price of the covered product less sales tax, delivery and installation. During the term of the contract, we may elect, at our option, to buyout the contract for the original purchase price of the covered product less claims paid, less sales tax, delivery and installation, or replace the product with a comparable product. In the event we reimburse you or replace the product, we shall have satisfied all obligations owed under the contract.

Andrea informed me that due to the fact that the other claims have almost exceeded my purchase price, no repairs will be made to the washing machine. She needed me to fax her my original invoice for proof of purchase and sales amount. I request that the machine be replace with a comparable product and was informed that option was no longer available. I would only be refunded what was left from the claims per the purchase price.

We purchased a five-year warranty that was to end on 03/26/2012, and we purchased an additional warranty on the motor of the washing machine for another six years. Both warranties totaled $199.00 for the full price of $399.98. The purchase price of the washing machine was $899.00, plus taxes. We still, to this day, do not have a washing machine that works. To me, when you pay $1,298.98 and only have an appliance for three years and three months, the company that manufactured the appliance should stand behind that appliance.

We have not received a refund check to date. I am unaware of how much they will refund back, due to the fact that they can set their own price for repairs.

My Maytag washing machine has been serviced three times because during the spin cycle, I think the drum becomes unbalanced (or perhaps it is warped). The grey rubber scrapes against the door of the washing machine and made a hole in the door. The door has already been replaced twice. Now, the same problem is occurring even though we are putting less clothes in the washer (half full). As a result, I am washing more times, using more electricity, more water, more soap and wasting more time!

The last time, the repair service also replaced a computer board. They said that it would adjust the spin cycle speed but the same problem is happening. GE keeps telling me the door is not covered under the service contract. The company that was initially supposed to come for this third service call does not have an opening for nine more days (I have not washed clothes for five days since I called for this service).

GE called another repair service company to come tomorrow. This company called and when we said it was a Maytag Neptune Washer, they said they do not service this washer--too many problems, too many headaches with them. Now I had to call GE back again and the woman told me the door was not covered and I told her the drum is spinning up against the door and scratching it--so she has called another company and I am waiting for them to fix my washer. GE is sending me a check to wash my clothes in a Laundromat. This is ridiculous.

In addition, my washing machine smells really bad all the time. We have complained about this on our first service call because we can hear water inside the washer when the drum moves when loading and unloading the machine. Is this normal? The smell is really bad. It smells like mildew or something, not like fresh soapy water!

We reported this to Queen City. Nothing was done to correct the problem. We reported it again. We were told that they did not receive a complaint from us. Fact was the person who took the complaint never registered the complaint with the managers as we found out 2 months later. I wanted the washer replaced since I purchased new. I expected it to work like new. Queen City said we had to let them send out a repair tech first.

The repair person did come to my house but said he did not have time to hang around to put the washer thru a cycle to find the problem as the company gives him a tight schedule and he had to do so many appointments in an allotted time period and left without determining the problem. We called back to Queen City Appliance to complain about this behavior. At first the female employee was upset with the repair company as they pay them by contract to do repairs. This repairman went back and lied to the company saying that the washer was ok and that the problem was my plumbing, which was totally not true.

So then Queen City sent out a private repair man from another company they do business with. He figured it was the timer that was defective and replaced it but that did not fix the problem. We called back Queen City and wanted the lemon washer replaced. But they refused flatly, claiming that they would not stand behind the appliances that they sell. They told us if we had a problem, call Maytag ourselves. We called Maytag 2 times with no results. It has been 2 and a half months ago and we still have not been able to get the lemon washer replaced. We purchased a new washer and dryer for over $1000, not damaged or second hand appliances. Also, the dryer was dented which we were willing to over look. But the washer has not worked correctly since day one. We believe we have the right to receive a working new replacement. We purchased a new washer and dryer but that’s not what we got.

My wife and I bought a new pair of Maytag washer and dryer at the Navy PX. After three years of use (two 70-year-olds), both have fallen apart. First, the pump went out on the washer. It cost $177.00 to have it repaired, then the bearing on dryer drum went out. Now the belt broke on the washer. I am calling Goodwill to come and get both of them and I will never buy another Maytag again. Whatever happen to the lonely old Maytag repairman with nothing to do? The washer model is SAV2655AWW. I don't know what the dryer is, but it's all junk, not what they made years ago.

I did contact Maytag who at the time said, "I'm sorry but we won't help you since it didn't show the problem within the 1st year." Then I filed a complaint on the internet complaints board and someone from Maytag did contact me to try and help. They said they would pay to have one of their authorized repair services come out and gave the list of authorized companies.

I made an appointment with one of them, Koczaweiz, who did not show up on the scheduled day on which I had off from work. Maytag claimed they couldn't do anything. I cannot take another day off from work in the hopes that another repair company will show up. Maytag said they couldn't ask their authorized repair companies to reschedule around my schedule so that I didn't have to take off again. I would never spend another penny on Maytag and I feel it's my duty to let as many people as possible know that buying a Maytag product is nothing but a headache and has tripled my water bill every month.

I didn't really think anything of it at first. Then I noticed that it would totally skip the spin cycle and when I opened up the lid, there my clothes would be-sitting there in soapy water (in retrospect now, I realize that it was/is probably skipping the rinse cycle also). When I put a load of laundry in, I have to time the washer for exactly 30 minutes and then manually stop it, put the knob in the middle of the spin cycle and let it do its thing. I shouldn't have to do this! It's been doing this from early 2003 on. And I have noticed the bad odor coming from the bin for a while now. I have never really felt that my clothes have cleaned to the extent they could be cleaned. I don't notice a smell to the clothes-I just don't believe that they are getting rinsed properly because of the fact that I have to manually run the spin cycle every time. I don't really know how I came up with running the spin cyle again, it was just the thing that I did to get the water to empty out of the washer at the time! I can't believe, from all of the complaints I've been reading on here, that some recall hasn't happened for this model/brand. We have had the repair person out at least three times, for items found in the pump.

Smoke was coming from under the drum of the dryer, there was smoke everywhere. We managed to disconnect the dryer from the wall, pulled out the clothes, and the fire subsided. I purchased a Neptune front load washer in December 2005. It worked well for about a year. Then the mildew odor started developing and it started dancing around the laundry room during the spin cycle. The only thing that keeps it in place is either the wall or the hoses. I'm expecting it to rip the pipes out of the wall one of these days. I've put rubber anti-vibration pads under the feet and this helps a little but on most loads, the machine simply vibrates off one of the pads and then it really starts rocking.

I've had the Maytag repair guy out as well as the repair guy from GE (GE has the extended service contract). Neither could stop the vibration. They suggested that I load the machine up with towels whenever I do a partial load. That makes a lot of sense. I will use it for a while longer, since it cost about $1K and when I get annoyed enough I'll put it out on the curb with a sign - DO NOT BUY MAYTAG APPLIANCES!!!

The salesman at the local Lowe's said that these machines are known to be problems and were intended to be used in the basement on a concrete pad. The store I bought it from naturally said nothing about these problems. I suppose that they just wanted to get it out of their store. I also own a Maytag gas range. The oven doesn't work. Bottom line - I will never buy another Maytag appliance and will advise my kids, sisters, brother, cousins, neighbors, work colleagues, and anyone else who asks not to buy Maytag either.

I told him that my previous washer had no problems and it was used, so we wanted something new and nice looking since our hook ups are in the kitchen. He still insisted it was the floors, so I sucked up the often walking of my washer and only did laundry if someone was able to sit on the washer during the spin cycle.

In February 2009, my washer shuts off after a few seconds of running. Then it would kick back on after about 10-15 minutes, and a few seconds later, kick off again. It took over a full day to get a load of laundry done. Now in March, it began washing right again. In April, it began not spinning out the load, like the timing was off. However, if I turned it back to spin cycle, it would spin out the clothes. It still wasn't rinsing the clothes out properly.

I called Maytag and they sent someone out; that cost me $65. He informed me that my timer needed to be replaced, which I told the lady on the phone. I called a repairman to come out tomorrow but something tells me that I am screwed. My stomach just hurts, not to mention my neighbor is already tired of washing my clothes. Three boys and a husband tend to make a lot of dirty laundry.

Like everyone else, I've had problems with our washer (neptune front loader). The washer has 9 months of extended warranty left (three years), but of course coins stuck in the filter entrance aren't covered by the extended warranty. I convinced one of the repair men to show me how to fix this myself. So right now there are no coins stuck. However, the last time I called them out, they said there was nothing else wrong with it. It doesn't drain or complete the spin cycle. It stinks and we've resorted to going to a laundramat again. We paid almost 1000 dollars for this stupid machine and We're going to just have to eat it. Maytag should be sued again for continuing to have machines with such poor design out on the market. I would like to know why this product was still allowed on the market after the first class action lawsuit. This is foul smelling!

During the time we have owned the Neptune washing machine which was purchased in 2001, we have had the lid lock switch, circuit board, and motor control board replaced. Now the front door boot seal needs to be replaced. At the time the service tech was out looking at the front seal, he mentioned the pump is on its last leg and will need to be replaced. One of the main problems we have encountered with the machine started when it was approximately one year old, is it releases water from the machine onto the floor, which has created several problems. The first is the carpet that surrounds the outside of the room has gotten wet.

The other is the wood door jamb leading into the laundry room has been damaged from the water that the washer has released. We have had the washer checked out several times by a service tech. The service tech was unable to find any reason for this action. The service tech recommendation was to install a metal catch pan under the washer to catch the excess water the machine discharges on to the floor. The metal pans have water residue contained in the pan approximately once a month depending on the usage of the machine.

Waco store did not have replacement in stock. Had to drive to different Home Depot in Waxahachie Texas. Picked up. Purchased extended Warranty. Warranty has expired. Will not spin. Googled the Washer model number and found numerous complaints and problems. I was told by one of the service people that this particular model was an Amana with a Maytag name. It is a piece of junk. I will not buy another Maytag. Too many problems. Warranty service is poor. Took six weeks to fix one of the Maytag machines. We do have an older Maytag Dryer that is probably made by the real Maytag Company. Knock on wood, it still works. Poor customer service for repairs from Warranty and terrible products. I purchased a Magtag top loading washer that has had to have the motor replaced because the override switch was built into the motor and could not be fixed separately, then the agitator stopped working and then smoke came out of the washer. This machine is used to wash 2-3 loads of wash per week. As we are retired, obviously, the machine doesn't get used excessively.

I purchased a Maytag Atlantis washing machine in Sept. 2003 because my mother previously had a Maytag that was very reliable and I thought the company would stand behind their product. The washer was not used that often the first two years with only 2 people in the house, then only slightly more with the addition of an infant. Well, after owning the machine for 26 months, I did a load of laundry and heard a gushing sound after the spin cycle--all the water came pouring back in the washing machine instead of being extracted! Maytag was very rude and matter-of-fact when telling me a service call from a repair man would cost $158 just to look at it. When I found out it would be less money for a local repairman I refused to be ripped off by Maytag. Local repair shop replaced the pump for slightly less than Maytag wanted just to show up at my door. Washer seemed to work okay for about another year. Then it started getting extremely loud when going into the spin cycle (so loud you can hear it outside with the doors closed). Also noticed it wasn't spinning the clothes completely dry. Add this to the fact that, throughout my ownership of this wonderful machine, I have had to keep an eye on the filling cycle because the water will continue to run into the machine without filling it up (only remedied by switching to a smaller load size--where's the water going?) and the timer will often get stuck so the cycle will not progress without being physically reset. I recently noticed water damage to my baseboards in my living room (directly behind my wall where the washer is located). My suspicion that the washer was the culprit was finally confirmed when the floor underneath and around the machine became flooded with water while doing a load of laundry. After this experience (and learning of others' problems with the same model) it doesn't seem worth it to repair the machine. I will NOT be purchasing any more Maytag appliances for my home.

The Maytag repairman has been to my house 9 times since I purchased my MAH8700AWW on 3/1/06. The drum has been replaced 2x's, the drain has been clogged because coins and such can go into the fins of the washer and go into the pump 2xs. Who's idea was this? It vibrates the entire side of the house it is on 5xs. I had to remove my under-drawer, and still it shakes and vibrates. The repairman is very much a difficult arrogant man. And I have a five year warranty! I am disgusted with this product and in turn I will never purchase another Maytag Whirlpool product. I called the warranty hotline and they claim my complaints are not valid.

In the fall of 2008, I bought a new Maytag Bravos washer. I was interested in all its features, especially the Hand Wash, which I planned to use for my washable business clothes. However, it only took a few loads to determine that the clothes coming out of the machine looked dirtier than when they went in. They have lint all over them, especially black slacks. My husband and I looked for a lint trap to empty, called the service number, and they informed us that the Bravos machine does not have a lint filter. Their explanation was that's what you have a drier for. Needless to say, things that qualify for hand wash do not go in the drier. Further calls to the service number proved equally unsatisfactory. A service tech was sent out, who billed us $80 to tell us there was nothing wrong with the machine. Follow up calls to the service number could provide no additional assistance, although this service rep did try her best to help. Meanwhile, I've got a $1000 washer that makes clothes appear dirtier, and there's no energy efficiency, because I have to run an hour-long cycle every week to wash the washer before I can wash clothes.

I contacted Maytag, but they were rude. I contacted Hudson's who contact Maytag and said that Maytag would replace for free. After replacing, Maytage charged Hudson's Appliance who charged me and I had to pay for it out-of-pocket. Then, in 2007, the front door of washer began to leak during each wash onto the floor and the door seal is black with greasy mold.

I have called two companies for repair, both said they would not touch the machine. Went to Lowe's, they said just to cut my losses and get a new machine.
This is not my first Maytag, others I have owned lasted 13 years at the very least. This washing machine was not cheap, I do believe there should be some recourse.

My husband and I bought a new home 5 years rs ago 2004 and the only appliance we had to purchase was the washer and dryers.
We thought we were doing a good deal when we purchased the Maytag Neptune, top load, washer, and the Maytag Neptune DC dryer with the cabinet for laying and/or hanging for drying. Other than the control buttons wearing out and having to push them ten times to get them to work, there have been no major issues with the dryer. The washer is a different story. The washer tied clothes in knots that you could hardly get out. The dryer could not even get the wrinkles out, needles to say the washer tied the clothes in it together in knots making it almost impossible to get the clothes separated. We have had nothing but problems with it. Having to have a repairmen out 2 times for the LC button not being able to clear from the screen and being able to reset the washer. We were only one step away from the lemon law that could have worked in to place if we had had to call service repairman out just one more time for that repair. How ironic, it worked. Then the washer started making a horrific noise sounding like a jet engine was landing in my home. We had repairman out and the repair cost was $1200. Heck we refused that and used it til the end. TWo days ago it stopped draining the water from the tub, the lid was locked, we had to force the lock open to get our clothes out of the machine. Now tonight we had to go out and spend money that we did not have at present time on a new washer when ours was only purchased not even 5 years ago. My husband and I refuse to ever purchase another Maytag appliance. We always heard good about Maytag, but this surely changed our minds and we would never refer a Maytag appliance purchase to anyone.
