Persuasive, friendly, quick service over the phone when purchasing a policy. They explained everything. Once purchased they were quick to get off the phone, which rubbed me the wrong way a bit but that's was a minor detail. Haven't had to use the service yet but hopefully they are as good as their reviews if that time comes!

Air conditioner went down 12 days ago. Sent out technician. Reported unit needed to be replaced. I called daily. Today 12 days later requested service records. Home bought year ago. No records were given. Refusing claim. Terrible company.

This was our second claim and it was handled very professionally from reporting the claim through the actual repair. The technician came out and diagnosed the problem, the company received authorization to order the part and returned as soon as we received the part to complete the work.

Liberty Home Guard is a scam and actually worse than that. They tried to profit off my broken AC. They tried to get me to pay them via PayPal for a claim I made that would have had me pay them more than the personal quotes I went and got on my own. I have all the proof. They are con artists. Stay away. Read the real reviews. Notice they are all either 1 star (legit reviews with commentary) or 5 star plants. I can bring the receipts/proof. It's a scam.

I own an appliance repair company, Liberty Home Guard called me and asked me to do a repair for them, they stated they would pay me via credit card when the work was complete. They stated authorization would be easy and quick and payment would be done as soon as job is completed. As of now, I have over two hours on the phone between getting authorization and trying to get paid, getting paid may take another five years. Highly suggest any repair company avoid doing any work for this outfit.

I am very disappointed with Liberty Home Guard. I filed a claim on 5/29 because my A/C went out in TX, in the summertime. I was sent an email telling me when my technician was coming and that’s it. I have received no communication since then other than me calling every single day to get an update. On 6/3 I called and they said someone would contact me in 24 hours. Exactly 24 hours later I called again and when I told the customer service rep that I was supposed to have gotten a phone call he said “do you know the difference between today and yesterday?” Which was so utterly shocking to me. After telling him that his tone and his question were disrespectful and inappropriate, he said he would have someone call me.
About an hour later, someone called me to say that they were working on it and that I would get an email. She had no other information for me. I finally got an email on 6/4 detailing the “quote” to replace my A/C unit (which was recommended by the technician). I was told that I would get a refurbished unit and I would be responsible for $5600. Or I could get my own technician and only pay $2900. They said that either way, LHG would be contributing $900.
However, I was informed that if I got a brand new unit from my own A/C guy (for a total of $3100 including labor) and didn’t use the refurbished unit provided, then I would only receive $200 from LHG. It's very hard to understand why I will be penalized for getting a new unit, which is warrantied for 10 years. Why would this company want me to use a refurbished unit which will absolutely not last in the TX heat? Is it because they want to keep servicing the unit? So that they can keep overcharging for their parts? I would never recommend this company.

Paid Liberty for 6.5 years of coverage. Had system failure on 3 zone HVAC system. Contacted liberty. Liberty sent out Howard ** who recommended a full replacement. Fast forward 4 months of the heat not working correctly and Mr. ** finally shows up and provides a partial installation over the course of 14 hours. Installation isn't completed. Out of 3 zones, only one is operational. Contacted liberty. Apparently they'd already paid Mr. ** even though the work was never marked completed. They have tried to force me to pay an ADDITIONAL $2000, the amount needed to actually finalize the installation I'd already paid for while they continue their "dispute". Contact with the NC HVAC board exposed that Mr. ** doesn't have an HVAC license and was still the preferred vendor for Liberty. They have refused to make this right and his installation is actively damaging my home through leaking and moisture accumulation on improperly installed equipment and ducting.

Absolute nightmare. Had AC issues in Texas...in 90 degree weather. The tech came out and gave wrong diagnosis. LHG would not follow the diagnosis and keeps making up new information 2 months later. (They are making up things NOT in the tech report and then claim they won't cover anything.) They waited two weeks with us in the heat...not kidding... then forced us to pay to get another opinion.
The second guy we paid for (full price since LHG wouldn't help), found nothing wrong with the system and it worked perfectly. Liberty Home Guard broke contract by not following through with their own policy timelines and we just want to separate from them and get our money back since we didn't use anything and even had to pay for two techs. They refuse to refund us for over a month now. However, they are constantly calling us to try to raise their contribution to a new system when ours works just fine. They apparently do not communicate within the company. Anthony ** the "Senior Director" per his email can't figure out what to do when I asked for a refund...He said he had to consult with another department...then never got back with us. Still hasn't...
Today I talked to resolutions hoping it would be for a refund...Antonio in resolutions says he'll have an account manager get a hold of me 24-48 hours later. I requested the "director" Anthony...I was told that he was in the account manager's queue...Hmmmm....so odd...Do these guys make up their positions? This is odd and crazy! We've been trying for weeks to get out and they continue the run-around game. Oh...and when you see they claim to be BBB certified and include it on their communication with you...they are not BBB. Also note that whatever their rep promises they do...they have a clause that says they will not honor what the rep states. So the rep can tell you in writing whatever they want to get you to sign up. I wish I was making thing all up... I wouldn't use them and would not recommend to anyone.

I have a 3 year plan with Liberty and so far I've used them 3 times and every claim has been handled very smoothly. I use the app on my phone to submit a claim and and the tech literally comes out within 24 hours. I had a problem where the tech needed additional parts for my AC claim but he was able to run to the store so I waited 3 hours that day but I think it is worth it because at the end of the day the problem was resolved. Hope my experience remains this good because I have 2 more years with them.

I have had warranty companies for the last 10 years. I don’t know why I switched, but I did. I was with American Home Shield and should’ve stayed with them. Liberty Home Guard makes their vendors do so much work before they even begin the job and clients do so much to get the job done. I’ve had no lights in my house for over a month. I have had one electrician say they won’t come because they’re not going to work with Liberty Home because they keep them on the phone for too long. Electrician and construction company and Left my house or worse than when he got here.
The third electrician came and they kept him on the phone for three hours and wasn’t even able to complete the job. On the phone regarding this issue, at least 10 times and I’ve written five emails, sent pictures. It does not end. I still have no lights after the electrician came. Not because he couldn’t do the job, it was because they have to do things in stages. I wish I would’ve never left American Home Shield. Night and day difference. (Voice to text). Do not Go with this company.

Overall I was not happy with the surface. It took them forever to get workmen out of the house. Thinking that things were covered fully was a mistake. For my washing machine because it was a few years old they gave me $225 towards a new machine.. Same thing with my Refrigerator. Pay $80 to have somebody come out and diagnose it and then take days to get one and only get partially reimbursed about 20%. Waste of money.

I would provide a zero if I could. I'm not thrilled with purchasing home warranties, and realized all the complaints about them. I figured it was the best option for a rental property. I purchased warranties in the past but this has been the absolute worse company I have used. For a $1200.00 water heater they are only covering $175.00. I was given excuse after excuse on what it wasn't being covered.
First we didn't go through one of their approved repair companies. When after 5 days we were given the approval to hire an out of approved service company. Then we were told the cost wasn’t approved because the water heater wasn’t being properly maintained. What! How would they have any way of knowing this! Now they are stating that it's not being covered because the following, and claim this statement pertains to water heaters (interesting): "u). Unless stated otherwise in this Agreement, valves of any kind and leaks, leak detection, and leak searching of any kind." My advice is to STAY AWAY from this company. My property Management company will no longer accept clients who use this warranty company. And they were by far the most difficult warranty company they have worked with.

Liberty Home Guard is a scam - stay away! For all the warranty repairs I have had to do with them - they basically find a way to recover their cost (and more) by either 1. depreciating the appliance saying it doesn't have any value (offered me $125 for a Frigidaire dishwasher that needed new electric panel), 2. charging co-pay that more than covers their cost of parts/repair. This is on top of the $75 technician visit and the $700 cost of the warranty itself. The most crooked home warranty company I've dealt with.

Update don 5/23/2024: The saga with Liberty continues. On May 17 I spoke to Nino the Sr. Customer Service Manager who only reached out because of my review. I called her because I noticed my unresolved claim was marked as resolved and removed. I found out that because I canceled the auto renewal of the policy they "paused" open claims but what that really means is they cancel your policy and all claims. My coverage is good until July 7.
My dryer has yet to be fixed. They have also been giving the contractor the run around and have told him they are not processing my claim. Nino offered to pay the cost of the repairs and issu a special refund of the policy for my trouble. She said she would figure out the numbers and get back to me. We'll I had to call her back. She offered 250 for repairs and 50 for my trouble. The 2 months without a dryer, the countless hours on the phone not to mention the stress and frustration and costs of going to a laundromat was only worth 50 bucks.
LHG clearly does not care about the consumer or the fact that they are supposed to provide a service and do their best to just make money. I told Nino to keep the money and resubmit my claim and that my policy is good until July and is what I paid for and they need to do what they were paid to do and that is to provide a service! GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE!
Original review: The service at LHG is poor at best. The contractors are not the best and unreliable. LHG also would not cover my furnace claiming the heat exchanger was not covered...well no one repairs heat exchangers due to safety reasons and even though the other issues with the furnace were covered they did not want to make good on the claim. I have a clothes dryer claim still not resolved for over a month. The first tech didn't fix it. The second tech diagnosed the problem but could never get through to LHG nor could LHGs dispatch get a hold of their own tech, which is a a bigger joke than their customer service team. I had a dishwasher claim and the tech they assigned was in a different state and never showed up...go figure. These guys are the absolute worst!

This is the 3rd company we have used for a home warranty, and it is the worst by far. It is nothing short of a scam. The company asks you to rate them at 5 stars after signing up before you ever have to use them. We had 1 claim, and had to pay out of pocket for the entire repair service. Liberty said they scheduled a repair. When the technician arrived, they told us they do not work with them for any claims. The technician was nice enough to service our AC. We paid in full but were never reimbursed by Liberty.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! Their salespeople will promise you the moon and promise to "REPAIR OR REPLACE" your appliance or pool part. HOWEVER, when you make a claim they will refer you to several parts of your policy that ultimately come down to the fact it really isn't covered OR has a drastic limitation on what they will pay. We purchased the policy because it covered a saltwater pool. NOWHERE in the sales pitch or on the website that is listing all the covered appliances does it mention only a tiny portion of what a salt cell would cost would be covered.
Their policy refers to 3 different sections that ultimately indicate the limitations. It is written in a way to defraud and misrepresent the coverages that ultimately are not there. Additionally - THEY DO NOT PAY 1 PENNY TOWARD INSTALLATION OF AN APPLIANCE IF IT HAS TO BE REPLACED!! The customer is responsible for 100 of that labor!!!

Recently filed a claim for a leaky pipe. Their technician came, did repair of the pipe, changed some other part in the system and said that it is all good now. A day later, the pipe exploded at the point of the repair and flooded the whole apartment! 2 inches of water, damages to walls, flooring, belongings... This happened on Sunday, I called them immediately and also spoke with customer service via chat. They said that they do not have emergency services on Sunday and will find a technician on Monday. This means, no water, no shower, no toilet for us until then... I asked if I can call the plumber myself? "Yes, but they need to be authorized by our department and that department is closed"... So it is a closed loop... No authorization - no reimbursement.
I submitted the photos and the videos of the water damage and asked them to contact me regarding the water damage remediation on Monday - prepared to take them to court on this if they do not pay for the water damage remediation and all required repairs. I do not know where they get these "technicians" ... It is supposed to be local trusted businesses... but it looks like this whole operation is a scam... On one of my other claims, the "technician" said that he never heard of them, received a call from their dispatch and asked if he is servicing the area... That is about the extent of the familiarity he had with their business. In the end, he refused to work with them because he could not get anyone to take ownership of the claim, and he did not wanted to waste time with their representatives.
Yes, about these customer service representatives... they all have the same accent, and it is not US accent, sounds like someplace in South America call center. They just log calls and tell you that they are forwarding the issue to Dispatch or Authorization, or some other department. They do not solve any problems, only apologize and are very unclear about the next steps in the process... Anything you call about, even if it is a new issue on the existing claim, they will say that it will take 24-48 hours.... which is unacceptable when you are dealing with heating or water in the cold or hot weather!!! Like I said, will be back to dealing with them on Monday and in the meantime looking for an attorney to take them on for this horrendous water damage to our house.

The washer remained broken for more than one month. When we contacted LHG regarding the failure to provide service, they told us that it was their service provider's problem and they were not responsible. It was LHG THAT WE PAID THE 75.00 service fee. When they failed to stand behind their warranty, we cancelled the contract on 03/18/2024. They refunded $475.00 of the $525.00 we paid for the contract because they said we had the benefit of the contract for that month, despite not providing the services promised. Basically, you're paying your premium and trade fees for them to deny the claim. My final straw is how they handled my HVAC claim. The tech recommended replacement. They only offered $800 if I go with their supplier but the amount with the discount is the same price other suppliers have the same unit listed for. If I use my own supplier, the price drops to $200. This lets me know, there is no true discount of ($800) because if so, I should be able to use my own supplier. Liberty Home Guard is a scam. They don’t cover all the appliances in your house, but only the newer ones. If you have an old one, you’re on your own. In my case, my water heater needed to be replaced. It was 26 years old. They told me that the useful life of a water heater is only 12 years, so after that it has no replacement value. Which is their way of saying they won’t fix it or replace it for me. I’m sure this is in their fine print somewhere, so it’s my bad for not figuring it out. As a gesture of kindness, they offered me a $250 credit toward the purchase of a new water heater, which costs $4000 where I live. Since I already paid $100 for one of their technicians to come out and examine my water heater, their credit was actually only worth only $150. What a ripoff!

I had a pipe break as well as had a tech come out and recommend water heater replacement upon inspection. Mistakes were made by the tech which they corrected and apologized for the mistake stating the water heater was leaking which it was not. I provided picture proof. Ultimately Liberty Home Guard wouldn’t cover the problems which are stated covered in the contract. They have in small wording in the contract they do not pay for installation or fees so they stated they would only provide some help with replacing the water heater and I would need to pay for the rest and the installation as well as a 500 dollar deposit for the pipe repair which I followed up with this company asking what they were charging for as the pipe should never cost 500 to simply solder the joints. They stated it was the cost for everything so essentially this company was only willing to cover 300.
I paid for the highest plan possible and made sure I asked about their cap limits and whether they paid for the installation as to which I was assured they did but PAY ATTENTION TO THE SMALL PRINT. THEY LIE ABOUT WHAT'S COVERED ON THE PHONE AND WHEN YOU MAKE A CLAIM IT'S 100% OPPOSITE. Company is scandalous even after knowing I called to set up a claim as a new customer and asked these questions again and was told all of those are covered in your service fee as I have previously experienced with other companies but not with these guys. This feels like a cruel joke. We are flabbergasted and feel as though all of the details and information given over this past week have been useless. We are doing everything we can on our end and have been overly patient, respectful and flexible but unfortunately do not feel as though Liberty Home Guard is doing the same. We were told so many conflicting things by Danelfy, Luke, Maria and others, throughout this nightmare of a situation and do not know what to believe now.
On the last phone conversation (3/14), we were told by Maria during our conversation that your technician would be getting someone to come out and repair the damage he caused to our ceiling. Maria said we needed to get another technician out to verify that the unit was installed improperly so that we can get it fixed and hopefully we get an honest and legitimate technician to install properly the heater, because we were told by a firefighter that if we use it now,it would cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
In addition, we had contractors come out and look at the ceiling for an estimate of that repair as well. What is absurd to me is that I handed over $10,000 to Liberty Home Guard and you guys have dealt with this so poorly. This technician has proved to be illegitimate and has not only lied to us but now is lying to you guys so he can collect money for a job that isn't even finished. This repair company and the technician, that you guys chose, is unprofessional in every way possible. I know if this was your home or his home then this matter would be treated differently.
We expect to have a working HVAC unit and our ceiling looking like it did before the technician arrived. You are holding the funds from the installation company and we expect to be either compensated for those repairs or a different licensed HVAC technician and reputable person to repair the ceiling. Please quit delaying and changing contacts and address this situation. PLEASE HELP!!!! (Lazy Pine Drive, Huffman, Texas)

By way of background, I am an attorney so I read dense documents like the Liberty home warranty for a living. Prior to purchasing the Liberty Appliance Warranty, I read the fine print to understand the exclusions. etc. Given the relatively low cost to cover all of my appliances ($450 for the year), I decided to give it a shot to see how these plans work. After filing my first claim, I now understand how it is almost impossible for these policies to make financial sense. Here's why:
The "headline" policy suggests that they will repair your appliance up to $2K or replace with a comparable one. Buried however in the fine print is a limit that they only need to provide you with the "book value" of the appliance. So in my case, I had a GE refrigerator that was over $2K new but ten years old. The ice maker broke, which was a covered item. I paid the $150 deductible to get it inspected, and was told the repair would cost $300 (so $450 total with the inspection fee). The claims department indicated however that as my refrigerator only had a book value of $150, they would only apply $150 to the repair (and I would then lose future coverage on the unit) or they would give me a $150 credit towards purchasing a new refrigerator. So either way, Liberty's responsibility was capped at $150.
These guys are very clever. When an appliance is new, it is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. After that time, the appliance depreciates quickly in value (the useful life of most appliances are less than 10 years), so any significant repair will likely exceed the book value of the unit. So the policy only "works" when an appliance breaks in the first few years after you buy it, when presumably issues are less common. Bottom line, Liberty has designed the policy so that its responsibility in most cases will be significantly less than your annual premium, regardless of the actual cost to repair or replace the appliance.

I paid for the Total Home Guard coverage plan for 3 years + 4 months. Total cost was $1,550 and a service fee of $70. Everything seemed fine until my first service call. Technician came out to look at my HVAC unit (AC and Gas furnace combo) because the furnace was sometimes not firing. He said he would recommend some replacement parts and that all. A few days I get call from LHG to tell me my unit is too old to repair so they will need to replace it, but because my unit is also too old, the book value of my unit is $0, so they will not cover the replacement (which is not needed according to the technician). They happily offer options to replace ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 out of pocket cost to me. What a total scam. Buyers beware.
In the agreement section H.10.a.i.3 it states that LHG will only cover up to the book value of any covered item. So unless you have a brand new unit (which is typically under manufacture warranty) they will determine that your item is worth $0 and will try to sell you a replacement. This warranty is just a cover to sell you “wholesale” out of manufacture warranty products.

This is regarding claim: **. This company is a SCAM and Probably buys their ratings. I opened a claim and I explicitly typed twice in the claim that there was a smell or what I believed was mole. The technician arrived with no clue as to what was in the the Claim and called Liberty Home Guard to get approval to fix. Liberty Home Guard called me and said they are not cover everything because they do not work mole and that this would be maintenance and not break fix.
First, I explicitly stated in the form what the issue was. If Liberty Home Guard understood that they could not work on it, why did Liberty Home Guard dispatch a Tech and make me waste $125 (very expensive fee compared to the competition) for that crappy service. Second, I disagree that the Air Unit is not broken. The smell is coming out of the vents for a reason. You do not get such a smell when the AC is working well. Third the customer service rep was a joke - horrible service. Then and the companies they dispatch seem to be in it together, as soon as they get to your house they looking what they can you extra for or sell services you do not need - this to me FRAUD. I will continue to denounce so and this scam over social media and BBB and Consumer Affairs and other entities. Don't buy this insurance and if you have it cancel it - it's a piece of crap.

I signed up with Liberty Home Guard and paid for about 7 months without ever using their service. Now, my washing machine is broken, and I've made a claim. After paying a $125.00 claim fee, they informed me that they will only cover the cost of parts. The $250.00 labor installation fee is to be paid out of my pocket. I pointed out to them that for the total amount, I could have my machine fixed directly at the repair shop, quickly, and without having to go without a washing machine for 2-3 weeks. They replied that this policy is outlined in their terms, and they do not cover labor installation costs at all, only parts. As a long-time homeowner who has dealt with different home warranty companies before, this is the only company that covers just parts.

Updated on 2/1/2024: After previously posting details of my HORRENDOUS experience with this company failing to repair or replace my broken furnace, they had a "senior manager" reach out to me by phone and email to "apologize" for not meeting my expectations, and offered me 2 months refund ($130.42) if I agreed to sign a release and remove my 1 star review. I declined that offer, send them the costs I incurred to replace the furnace they refused to replace, and told them to make me a serious offer. A day later they offered me $500 to remove my review. My cost was $26,000 ---- and I do not regard $500 as a serious offer and declined that.
Bottom line: this company BRIBES those who post the truth of their terrible experiences to remove those reviews, giving those who research them the false impression they are a legitimate home warranty provider. NO legitimate company BRIBES customers to remove their negative reviews. Any who would like to receive a copy of the multiple e mail BRIBES I received from Liberty Home Guard can send me a request at ** and I will forward those e mails.
PS ---- ConsumerAffairs should seek to discover companies that use BRIBES to get reviewers to remove a negative review. Otherwise, how can any consumers find the reviews posted here to be credible?
Original review: BEWARE this company. As a home warranty company - not an insurance carrier - they are not regulated. As a result, they insert onerous fine print in their warranty that enables them to deny most claims. For example ---- they cite an exclusion for appliances that have a leak. Then they send "technicians" to find a reason (like a leak) to later deny repairing or replacing damaged items. In my case, they denied repairs on a broken furnace, took over 3 weeks to review to let me know that, but did agree to send me $500. To go away. The cost I incurred to replace the furnace: $26,000.
They sent a survey to ask about my experience, which I completed. When I cancelled coverage I was informed I needed to first speak with a supervisor. Who called days later ---- "just to make sure you understand what canceling means." Or --- to try and collect another month on autopay. I am happy to document my experience to any who seek more information to avoid being swindled by these frauds.

The worst was waiting over a month for a technician to show up. They lack transparency, always saying the customer has to do more work. LHG gives instructions on what YOU must do to get reimbursement, and once all completed they give more instructions on MORE that you have to do to get the refund. I already did the work myself to get the problem resolved because I have learned it takes weeks for LHG to get a technician to respond, now I have learned getting refunded for doing their work is just as painful. Please be aware of this insurance company. I became member based on good reviews but I would like to share my recent claim experience which one was the first claim in 2023. I had a minor roof leak so I called and submitted claim paying 65$ copay. They send roofer who find missing shingles and some nails damage. So roofer gave repair estimate of 2000$ to replace missing shingles and some patchwork. Liberty called me and said they don’t cover missing shingles but will pay 150$ for patchwork and I pay rest and roofing company is laughing at me so basically Liberty wants to pay 150-65(my payment)=85$ to settle my claim.
I would love to cancel my policy but they are going to give hard time to refund any money so I requested manager to call me back but still waiting. I am not sure what to do now. They put so many fine prints in contact and want to pay 85$ for limited roof repair what a scam. Who even goes on roof for 85$ in cold weather forget even to fix anything in post Covid inflation era. I want to take away even one star if I have a choice.
Resolution rep told me he understand my concerns but he said only manager can revise the 150$ claim reimbursement to adjust so I requested manager to call me but still waiting for weeks and still no responds. Very poor customer services so be aware and don't be get fooled with US news ranks that they advertise everywhere. What is worse than negative stars? Cliff note version: DO NOT USE LIBERY HOME GUARD if you expect them to have any decency, honesty, or if you expect them to actually help. I submitted a claim on October 31, 2023 due to my home heater not working and it remains broken as I write on December 6, 2023, December 12, 2023, December 22, 2023.
A Liberty technician was sent, and he reported that the pressure switch was the issue. Because labor for install is not included, I had my technician out to install the new switch only to find out that Liberty sent the wrong pressure switch. So at this point I have paid the $125 claim fee and a $150 service call fee for my technician even though he could not replace the part because Liberty made a mistake. After it was brought to Liberty’s attention that the part was incorrect, the new part would NOT be released until I returned the incorrect part to USPS. They also refuse to reimburse me for the claim fee or the service call fee that was wasted because of their error.
Once I returned the incorrect part, I had to wait on the next shipment. The next shipment included the correct pressure switch AND other parts that were 'accidentally' ordered. Again requiring me to make a trip to USPS for Liberty’s mistake. During this time, I called my technician to install the correct pressure switch. Despite the part being replaced, and having to pay another service fee to my technician, the unit is still not working.
I called Liberty once again to let them know the issue is not resolved and the issue was not what their technician said it was. The first call, the individual said a technician should give me a call in 1-2 business days and there would not be an added fee because it was within the 60 day window from the start of the claim. I did not receive a call, so I called back. Upon my second call to Liberty, since their technician had not reached out, I was told there would be another $80 fee for the technician to come back out to diagnose the issue. The individual with Liberty that I spoke to even asked me to send a diagnosis report from my technician. My tech was only at my house to install the part that Liberty’s tech previously said I needed.
I did not employ my technician for anything more as I have a home warranty company that should be able to do what a home warranty is supposed to do. I made it clear that the Liberty technician needed to be dispatched and that I would not be paying the $80. I logged into the website today to find a message that my claim was on hold. I received the following message: “You are seeing this notification because we have either attempted to contact you and have been unsuccessful, or because we are awaiting information from you in order to progress your claim. Please contact us at your earliest convenience so we can resolve this hold. The best way to do so is by using our live chat feature below, or by calling us.”
This is despite the fact that I received a call from someone at Liberty yesterday and spoke with someone about my claim. I informed them once again that the heater was still broken. The intended part was finally sent to me by Liberty and my technician was able to install it. Despite that part being installed, as directed by the Liberty technician, the heater is still not working. I spoke to yet another individual this morning and she restated the same things with no comprehension as to why I will not be paying more or doing the work for Liberty. I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old and have not had a heater for all of November and December. Even without children, this is not acceptable.
I will give Liberty credit for training their customer services representatives well. They sound like well programed computers that can calmly restate the exact same thing again and again and again even when it makes no sense. Even after a technician was sent back out and agreed the unit needed to be replaced, LHG tried to offer me $500 in lieu of the contractual cap amount of $2000 per the contract. Another round of calling them, waiting, explaining simple facts to them, and not getting anywhere. Again, the claim for my heater was submitted on October 31, 2023. It is now December 12, 2023.
December 22, 2023 and I still do not have a functioning heater. Liberty remains incapable of calling back when they say they will and will not respond to emails. Policy section H.2. states, “We have the right to request purchase records, repair / installation records, maintenance records, certifications, and home inspection reports, among other pieces of evidence, for any reason at any time, including but not limited to reviewing any claims, or reviewing Our decision to deny any claims. Should you not provide Us with the aforementioned pieces of evidence, We reserve the right to limit or deny Your repair, replacement, and/or cash in lieu of repair or replacement.” Section H.3. also states, “All Covered items must be in place and in proper working order on the Effective Date of this Agreement. This Agreement does not cover any known or unknown pre-existing conditions.”
I only have a home warranty policy (because clearly they are a scam) as I received it with the purchase of my home. With the purchase of a home, I do not have maintenance records. I offered to send the home inspection, and despite that proving the system was in working order, they would not accept the inspection and provide the correct contribution amount. I’m out $275 because of Liberty’s scam and even more in the time spent following up, pushing my claim since they wouldn’t, being home for technicians, and returning parts for them.

ConsumerAffairs is paid by this company as a partner so I would be VERY suspect of this review they posted. In short: LHG is terrible. Had a fridge go out. Technician did nothing to repair. Just looked at it for < 5 minutes and reported it was the sealed system. Guess what LHG doesn't cover? Sealed system. (That's literally the 'fridge' part of your refrigerator). Offered measly $150 cash towards their new recommended fridges. Not only was I already out $90 for the initial service call, but they also kept pushing me to purchase a replacement fridge from them.
Months later, I our dishwasher went on the fritz. Tech says it's a control board. Days go by and eventually LHG says it's 6 years old out of 10yrs and not worth repairing. They want to give me $250 towards a new one and recommend Frigidaire crap models I can purchase towards. Like others say: they don't get wholesale pricing on anything. It's the same price as if you bought from Home Depot or Lowe's. They also charge $250 for installation and haul-away of your old unit. It's a scam to drum up more revenue sources.
I've had two legit claims and literally nothing has been covered. I can't find anything in the policy saying specifically _how_ they find the 'book value' of your device (my old dishwasher wasn't $500 when it was new!), but they hold all the cards and don't budge on this. Therefore, I've basically made it my goal to carpetbomb their reviews with factual information about how their company operates. Not these ridiculous 'reviews' that sites like CA and This Old House post.

I thought we would give a home warranty a try since many of our appliances were starting to age as was our roof. After doing some brief research, I settled on Liberty Home Guard. Our first experience was with our built-in microwave. It was an 8-year-old kitchen aid unit. It stopped working shortly after buying our home warranty. I submitted the claim and paid our $80 deposit. After a few days, a technician was assigned. They came by and determined that the motherboard had gone out. Unfortunately, the motherboard was no longer manufactured therefore the entire unit had to be replaced. This is where it gets interesting.
The way that liberty (and I am sure most if not all home warranty companies) make money Is by determining what is more affordable to them: Repairing your existing unit or replacing it at its DEPRECIATED value. They have a reference guide that they use to determine this. Well guess which option ends up being cheaper in almost every instance? That's right, the replacement value of your depreciated unit. Of course, most appliances that are old enough to be having significant mechanical issues will also be old enough to have a minimal residual depreciated value.
In the end, they offered a $100 check to replace our $2400 built in microwave. We could not afford the $2300 difference so we went down to Sam's and bought a $70 countertop microwave that we have been using since. This same scenario played out with our dryer which also died shortly thereafter. In this case, they offered a $150 check which we did use to purchase a new unit only because we had no other option. Just recently, we developed a leak in our that resulted in some interior wall damage. I called and filed a claim again, paying my $80 deductible.
After a week passed with no word, we finally had a technician assigned to our case who came out and did an assessment. It was determined that "several shingles" would need to be replaced. This is perhaps the most laughable part of this entire review. So I get a call from one of liberty's representatives explaining that shingles are not covered under their limited roof policy. That's right, the roof is not covered by the limited roof policy. I literally laughed out loud at the representative when he told me this, said thank you very much and hung up.
To summarize, you would literally have to have 4-6 major appliances die and need to be replaced within the same year to even come close to breaking even on this policy. Furthermore, you can't choose your own technicians and the delays in service related to liberty's process which requires an initial visit for assessment followed by a second later visit for repair after they have approved the work make using their product not only next to worthless but also time-consuming. Imagine if your air conditioner went out in the middle of July and it took 2-3 weeks to have a repairman get his work approved before they could even begin work. Save your money and save yourself a lot of hassle. Avoid this product.

This also means they should have helped. Not only did they charge me $125.00 service fee which should have been $85 as per the agreement signed but they never fixed any of the issues. I then had a plumber come out and they fixed it. Just had another service now. Tech out to clean the furnace and he verified this unit is in great condition. Then after they finally show up (and usually diagnose the problem wrong) the claim is submitted to liberty who says they'll cover like $120 or some measly amount of what the estimated repair is. So after you pay the service call to get the technician out you're only saving like $60 on the repair. We had a plumbing issue, and AC issue and an electrical issue and on all 3 the technical was dead wrong on diagnosing the problem so I had to get someone else out (out of my own pocket) to make the repair. When I went to cancel my policy they gave me $700 back on the $3000 plan I purchase for a 5 year policy. They claim I used up all of my claim budget.

As others have reviewed here, I got the run around twice with Liberty Home Guard. First my dryer died and they dispatched a flyby night technician that took a month to get it working, but for one day. When it failed again we told them we were going to get a new one. They told us to send the receipt and photo of new dryer to support@liberty**.**. Never heard from them again. One year later the fan on my AC died, July, in Florida. It took a week for a technician to come out and confirm, it took another 2 weeks for Liberty to decide they should replace the whole unit, however they would only give a $500.00 discount (10%) on the new unit, we agreed due to age and wanted to be done with it. It took a month to finally get the AC working again.
During this time I left a 1 star review on Google and then we heard from Albert (mentioned in other low reviews here) who said he would take care of everything. He offered additional $300 on the AC and $500 for the dryer they never paid. But there's a catch, they sent an agreement that actually says we have to remove the one star review and can never hold them to a claim "from the beginning of time until the end of the universe itself" meaning the warranty he paid for three years coverage would now be worthless. We didn't sign it, told them to make it specific to the claims at hand and haven't heard from them again. Liberty's star rating is because they buy off people who can't afford to hold them accountable. Don't do business with them.

Contacted them to have the drain cleared and the company they contacted did not even clear drains only did plumbing work. I got the fee I was charged refunded and contacted a local drain clearing service to do the work and paid them myself. Second claim for a burnt-out oven element in the kitchen stove. Filed claim in Sept. Very poor updating and communication with the customer and the technician they contacted to make the repair. Going round and round with the company as to when the repair would be made.
Found out today repair was made two weeks ago. All this time everything from their end was a status of under review and contacted back to replace the oven. Of course at my expense or make the repair 130.00. I paid on top of the 125.00 service call initially. Told them again make the repair. I called the company today and again they said under review. I call the technician they used. He said repaired two weeks ago. So why does this process have to be like this?

They respond back very quickly whenever I had a question or asked for an update. And their pricing seems to be more than justified by the savings. I saved $350 on this first dishwasher claim alone.

Do not waste your money. They will find every way to deny your claim. They will send unverifiable contractors to your house. Contractor will stop investigating as soon as one issue is found and refuse to complete a full inspection. Would give even lower review if allowed but sadly one star is the lowest. After reporting to BBB and was contacted by a Ms. ** who after agreeing to give me an "elevated refund" then told me to receive it I HAD to update my review to 3 or 4 stars to qualify for it. I also have to request the BBB not post my complaint publicly. (still have the email proof)
Emailed to tell them to cancel my policy and that My reviews will NOT bought or bargained for. Also request cancellation via their website. At 1:58 pm Natile ** called to make me aware that because I was not signing the agreement I would not be getting the elevated refund and claimed to be unaware for my email. I told her that if that was true it was due to her mistake of not emailing me directly the two times I asked and through the course of conversion insisted they were not trying to buy my reviews and that "she doesn't make mistakes". Ms. ** also informed me multiple times one bad review doesn't hurt the company but they were willing to pay me $490 if I took down or changed my 1 star review.

I've been a customer of Liberty’s for over 3.5 years now. I am writing this review from a place of extensive experience–filing more than 12 claims with them. My experiences with them on each and everyone have been positive. First off, not once have they denied me financial coverage. They saved me money on each one. Second, the longest a claim ever took was 24 days and that was for a complete replacement of two HVAC systems for my house. Third, every single person I’ve dealt with associated with Liberty, from customer service to the technicians they send have been professional, competent, and charming. As someone that has had pretty much every other national home warranty provider, I am telling you to do yourself a favor and get a Liberty Home Guard home warranty.

On two separate occasions, I’ve had to make claims for my LG washing machine and for my LG dryer. Both times Liberty made it very easy to get an appointment set up. The repairs were made with no issues and unlike other home warranty companies, there were no delays or hidden fees. We were able to just repair the dryer but the washing machine needed to be replaced. Layla from the Liberty side coordinated that replacement for us after we called in. The new unit, which frankly was an upgrade to our old one, arrived 8 days later. Great service and great people with a great attitude. Thank you Liberty!

We purchased this policy after extensive conversations with the sales team, who assured us that the age of a large AC unit would in no way impact coverage. Then, our AC died, and instead of replacing it (as the sales team promised-we have multiple recordings of them assuring us of our coverage), the company cited a loophole in the contract which ONLY covers the “fair market value” of ANY unit. This means that on older units, they can simply say they have no value and therefore will not cover the unit. We could not get anyone to explain how they determine fair market value, they simply denied the claim. We spent hours with rude managers, being put on hold, and having managers refuse to speak to us. I cannot emphasize enough how worthless this policy is if you have a home with used units in it. Save your money for real contractors.

I purchased a home warranty with Liberty Home Guard and it has been a very aggravating and disappointing experience. My GE Profile 5 burner gas stove top cannot be repaired and Liberty is trying to replace it with a $300-400 no name brand sold in Amazon. It is next to impossible to reach anyone on the phone and it takes days to receive an email response. They sent another option offering $600 credit towards the purchase of a $1000 stove top that I would have to pay $400 for and no installation. I have been without a working stove for almost three weeks now. Do not purchase a home warranty with Liberty. You are better off having no warranty.

Join me for a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT against Liberty: Our experience with Liberty has been disaster and we simply warn you from dealing with this company. What they do is just FRAUD. The reviews here reflect that notion. Don’t believe their BS that “We apologize for.. blah blah…”. They're just a bunch of fraud. Here are the issues:.. We paid $85 each for two issues, AC and Stove, and despite a 2-month wait, they addressed NOTHING. Our interactions with their customer service were always disrespectful, displaying a lack of concern for resolution whatsoever.
In fact, the comments made by one of their representative appeared even racially insensitive (giving me comments about my English etc. even though I’m a college prof.). As for the two claims we filed, none of them were resolved as I explain here: a) The technician sent for the AC failed to resolve the noise issue originating from the attic, as it’s still making the noise, b) Similarly, the RUDE technician they sent for stove only took a pic and provided no follow-up. He did not fix anything for the stove but charged us for that. As per our coverage, we should have only be liable for the $85 service fee, not the sum negotiated between Liberty and the technicians, but they charged us for that once we decided to cancel our premium, which is FRAUD again!
From our original premium payment of $570, they have reluctantly agreed to refund only $100, shedding light on their fraudulent and deceptive business practices. Despite their failure to address any of our issues, they have pocketed $470, all while subjecting us to a two-month wait for nothing... As evident from the numerous people affected by this fraudulent company, we, the VICTIMS of this deceitful shit, can pursue a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT to address the issue collectively, as individual filings can be costly. If you are interested in joining me in this cause, please contact me via email at "**", and we can proceed accordingly.

I have had two issues over my 1 year of warranty and they have responded quickly and professionally. My issue is that their policy is written specifically to not cover installation of parts. Clause H.1.P says they do not cover: "p) Installation of parts of or the entirety of systems, appliances, and/or optional add-ons." So, when my refrigerator needed a part replaced, they paid for about 1/2 of the cost (the parts) and I paid for 1/2 (labor). So, beware when you buy this you will still be on the hook for 1/2 of most repairs.

Paid $700 for a full year of Total Home Guard. Unexpectedly, one of my AC units broke down. Filed a claim and paid the $125 to get a technician over. Found that the compressor in the condenser failed, but the entire condenser would need to be replaced. The technician was courteous, knowledgeable. About a week later, I get an email from the Resolutions Department that the total cost would be over $5k and Liberty Home Guard would contribute $500 towards it. The "book value" of my AC was $0 because it's old. They don't cover the cost of installation for new equipment (anything that requires equipment like a crane, etc.). I didn't realize that I was going to have to be in a situation where this company was going to find every possible way to not cover a claim. I asked to cancel the policy and provide a refund and was told that they would submit my request to cancel. What?
Today (9/14/23), I get a call from a retention specialist who offers me an additional $200 to the $500 they would contribute. I declined and asked to move forward with the cancellation. He finally agreed and said that he would submit the request to underwriting where they will prorate the month that I was a member plus an additional $50 from the total $700 I paid.
This is a losing bet. This policy is suitable for new homes, but if you have a new home, you won't have breakdowns and most likely your warranties on the appliances will already be covered. I made an expensive mistake with Liberty Home Guard. I advise you to review any policy they propose before signing up. If your home is over 15 years old, I don't believe there's value with this company.

The claim for the microwave went relatively smoothly, but now the third claim, again for our dishwasher, has been a disaster. It has now been two weeks since the technician originally visited our home and recommended replacing the pump assembly. Despite more than five phone calls and sending several messages through both their online form and chat, I have received no response. The app just says that our claim is under review.
I have twice been told by phone that I will be sent replacement and repair options within 24 hours. The last time I was told this was 1 week ago and we are still waiting. After multiple calls a day to follow up on my claim for two weeks, I finally received my replacement quote. Two weeks without AC or an answer. They were willing to cover $500 of the $8,000 replacement cost. I have quotes from trusted AC technicians for $5,000 to replace the unit. When searching for a home warranty service, Liberty Home Guard LLC initially seemed like a promising choice. However, the reality of my experience was far from satisfactory. Service Quality: I anticipated a smooth process, given the company's claims and customer testimonials (FAKE REVIEWS). Instead, I was met with a labyrinth of communication barriers. Speaking to Pedro was like hitting a wall; there was no assistance, no willingness to transfer me to a more knowledgeable colleague. Subsequent interactions with Jesus and Katie only deepened my frustrations, with apparent technical glitches and seeming indifference to my concerns.
Operational Concerns: The delays and hesitations in addressing my claim were not just mere inconveniences. They highlighted a potential systemic problem within the company's operations. For a home warranty firm of their stature, the service was severely underwhelming. Review Discrepancies: While researching the company, I came across a series of glowing reviews. However, given my firsthand experience and whispers about potential manipulations of feedback, I'm left to wonder about the authenticity of these reviews. I'd hope a company would prioritize genuine customer feedback over potential FTC regulation breaches.
To wrap up, Liberty Home Guard LLC has left me with a bitter taste. Their service, or the lack thereof, and potential ethical grey areas are concerning. I feel completely scammed by this company. I should not have had to pay an $85 service fee (on top of my contract that I've already paid) to have the technician do nothing and tell me the model of dishwasher I have is too old to repair without even trying to repair it. Before purchasing this contract, they never said anything about the age of covered appliances. Now, I have to pay an additional fee to have a new machine delivered and installed. I paid $85 for NOTHING. If there is a deductible or any other type of payment required to replace a covered appliance, that should be made clear upfront at the time that the contract is offered. The common understanding of this home warranty is that covered appliances will be repaired or replaced when the contract is purchased and the service fee is paid.
This business model is underhanded and scams customers out of money. I could have purchased a dishwasher outright with money left over if I had never gotten a home warranty to begin with. It will now cost me MORE to replace my dishwasher than it would have if I had never had a home warranty at all. For a $349 dishwasher, I will now have paid the $550 for the year of service, $85 for the service fee, $349 for the dishwasher, $260 for required installation and parts - and then I'll receive a $200 refund towards everything. That's a total of $1244 for a $349 dishwasher - minus the $200 and the cost of the new dishwasher of $349, that's a total net loss of $695. And going forward with this plan, every time I have an issue with another appliance, I will have another net loss.

They responded promptly to my service claim for our oven. Repairs were not temporary as the fix has lasted us 6 months now without issue. I intentionally waited because my past home warranty company, when they would even provide service, would always always do a band-aid, temporary fix. The entire Liberty team were great when they communicated with us, explaining the problem, service process, and coverage terms.
Our oven is high end so the repair job was expensive at around $900. Liberty covered $600 of it and we covered the remaining $300 which we thought was generous and smart since the unit was still under manufacturer’s warranty and the $300 was for the parts which the manufacturer did end up paying for. There was even a noticeable difference in quality between Liberty’s agents and the manufacturer, with Liberty’s agents being superior. They were all strong communicators and knew a ton about our home appliances and how they work. Oven works perfectly now. Very pleased with Liberty’s services.

Updated on 08/30/2023: Following the debacle of trying to get Liberty to fix my stove, I decided to cancel. They assert that their policy on fixing any appliance is based on the depreciated value of the product. It appears to me that by doing this they essentially absolve themselves from have to pay for any repair. They told me my oven was worth $58.00. My previous home protection company (SEARS) paid for EVERYTHING over $75.00. If the repair was over $500.00 they would send you a check. Liberty Home Guard (LHG) decided they would send me $175 AFTER I purchased the new stove/oven and then send them proof of purchase. I'm usually pretty good at determining whether a company is a good service provider. This time I missed the boat. In my opinion, LHG is nothing more than a huge unmitigated rip-off. I would suggest that you stay away.
Original: On August 8, 2023 I called Liberty to let them know that my oven wasn't working. They told me that they would contact a technician and I would be contacted by the tech. On August 9th I received a call from Liberty telling me that they couldn't locate a technician, and asked whether I would like to find one, and they would pay. I told them that is not the service that I'm paying for. A technician was found and I was told he would be at my house on Tuesday, August 15th. On Monday, I was informed that he would not be able to come until Thursday. It was apparent that Liberty had no idea because they sent me an email on the 16th asking about the repair. I filled them in. The technician was pleasant and seemed to know his stuff. He told me that the oven needed a new motor and control board. This is where Liberty showed who they are. For days they said that they did not receive the report. When spoke to them on (I believe it was) the 21st, they said they didn't have the report. Then they said that, "It's coming through now". I reached out to them yesterday (8/23/23).
They told me that the report was in process and they needed to determine whether to do repair and pay for replacement. Today was the worst. I did an online chat with Liberty. While doing so, I had the company who sent the technician on the phone. Liberty first said that "the technician has not confirmed the compatibility and the installation quote". The company that sent the technician said they didn't know what Liberty was talking about. When I told Liberty that I was on the phone with the tech company, they replied "The information was sent via email, when our authorizations team call they will confirm why he did not receive it and confirm the information verbally." The tech company says they have not received any email from Liberty. The simple fact is that Liberty has been horrible from the beginning. I don't know how this nightmare will end, but we have been without an oven for 16 days.

Most recently (Jul '23) filed a claim when an old galvanized and cast iron pipe burst in a 2nd story bathroom. I received $430 for what has become a $19k project. Homeowners covers damage and most access/finish work, but not pipe work/replacement which is incredibly expensive in older homes...Liberty Home Guard caps pipe breakage at $500. I have paid the $600/yr premium plus $130/claim for little to no coverage. I'm actually losing money with this service so, I'll be cancelling my warranty service immediately. When you come to Home Appliances, Liberty Home Guard is the worse company you can think of. Here is my Justification. I filed a claim for my Refrigerator, they send a tech for Diagnosis, (I have to pay $80 for it). After the visit no reply for two days, so I called him he said he ordered the parts to fix it, so I asked him what part and what is wrong with it. But he doesn't know. Then Liberty Home Guard send another Tech, He identify the mechanical issues and he submit his report. He said, "Your Insurance will fix it or replace the Refrigerator."
Even though the policy agreement shows all Mechanical part covered in my policy, the Resolution DEPT manager Pedro (WHO doesn't want to give his last name or his ID#) come up with excuses. (Compressor, motherboard won't cover) Policy agreement doesn't show any exception on certain parts. So he refuse to do anything for my claim. He was willing to find a new Refrigerator for me. But I have to pay the full amount. (I don't think none of us need any help to find new appliances).
Most of the time Companies like this abusing customer like us, because there is nothing we can do once they refuse the claim. Or most of the time we don't do anything!!. But this time they are wrong. It is my right to get the service they promised which is in my policy agreement. So please Ladies and Gentlemen, it's our hard-earned money these companies are stealing from us. Ask and get a copy of their policy before exchange of any money. Won’t cover anything with the word leak. Maximum coverage $500 on anything, if you get them to pay. Replacement appliances are substandard to your existing appliances (in my experience). Example -You have a 19 seer HVAC system, they will try to replace with a 16 seer Goodman. Again, max is $500 coverage. High end appliances are not covered - KitchenAid, Jennair, etc. I don't know how this company has such a high rating on Consumer Affairs, there is no way unless the positive reviews are paid bought or fake! Read their policy word for word. If you still think it is worth the purchase price, then you deserve what you get. I will never trust consumer affairs reviews again.

They regularly deny claims and make excuses to not cover claims due to factors they define after you file a claim. They refer to an arbitrary determination to the life of your covered appliance or other device which is clearly advertised as covered ultimately telling you that the appliance is beyond the life expectancy of the appliance and therefore the claim is denied or you will be offered a fraction of the value. Read through their BBB complaints to get an idea on how they operate. They respond to the BBB complaints with a well versed response but never make contact, which it appears the BBB will consider resolved unless the complainants afterwards responds within a short time that the complaint has in fact not been resolved. Very deceptive and undoubtedly they have been reported to attorney general offices throughout the country for deceptive practices.
I am personally reporting to the NY AG’s office as well as the AG of the state I live in. I have utilized several home warranty companies in the past and I have had the worst experience with Liberty Home Guard by far when it comes to actual coverage. I was sold a 3 year policy for $2500 with the promises of excellent coverage and have had most claims flat out denied or was offered a fraction of the cost to repair or replace on claims I have filed. They will offer you wholesale appliances to purchase through them which in many states would constitute a conflict of interest to the consumer which they are providing a service. Denying a claim then setting your customer up to sell them a discounted appliance they desperately need while increasing their revenue could be perceived as willful intent to deceive the consumer.
Fortunately Consumer Protection Acts in each state protect consumers from unfair trade practices. Save yourself the frustration, go elsewhere for any home warranties. The reviews do not appear to reflect the truth, it is suspicious as to the published reviews they advertise do not reflect similar BBB complaints that can not be removed.

Anytime I tried to ask my salesperson at Liberty a question, he wouldn’t answer. And the claims dept wouldn’t give me a co-pay credit for the bad service. The warranty itself is subpar. We got the highest tier and they’ll only cover $500 of an AC replacement. Disappointing but you have to read the fine print, they don’t tell you these limitations when you sign up. The problem though is that we put in a claim a month ago (June 16, 2023) and a month later, our AC unit has not been replaced. It hasn’t even been scheduled. They respond to our inquiries every couple of days, with unhelpful answers.
I’m pregnant and miserable in this heat and can’t enjoy my home. They didn’t even give us the option to hire our own technician and reimburse us. So we just have to sit and wait and replace it out of pocket without reimbursement. What a waste of a warranty. It’s 117 degrees outside right now. They claimed to have expedited our case, they said we’d get a contract to sign in 1-2 days. It’s been a week since they said that. How can home warranties get away with NOT doing the one thing they’re contracted to do? Isn’t this literally what we pay for?

Even after paying upfront service fee for any claim, if any part needs to be replaced for covered item then you have to pay all fees for installation, they just cover part not any labor which doesn't make sense. Also, they will find some minor issue which might be unrelated with needed repair and use that as an excuse to provide no coverage. This was total waste of money, and would never try them again.

Request to speak with upper management, was denied by Michael, state he was Resolutions and there was no one else to speak to higher than him. I advised him there had to be someone else and I wanted to elevate this and would contact BBB. Then received a different quote via email advising me they would pay replacement cost of $1500, but we would have to find installer, pay the difference for a new unit (thousands of dollars) and cost of installation (thousands of dollars).
Tried looking up number for corporate office, upper management, CEO, but numbers listed on internet were not working. Horrible, horrible experience, seniors still don't have a/c and no one to speak to. I read another review about the deception and I would have to completely agree. When we switched to Liberty Home Guard, there was a sense of urgency on part of the sales person stating that there would be no lapse in coverage if we switched right away since we would be switching from another company. If we let the other company expire and later went with Liberty Home Guard, then we would have a waiting period for filing claims. So we switched right away. 63 days into the policy we filed a seemingly mild claim and we owe over $800 for it. Why? Because it was filed before 90 days. I immediately told them we were not subjected to pre-existing clauses because we did not have a lapse in coverage (as the sales guy explained it). He said that is true in a way, but there is still a cap on the amount they will pay out in the first 90 days. That was NEVER told to us!
In addition, the customer service was TERRIBLE. I do not expect much in terms of customer service in the 21 Century, so when I am disappointed after having extremely low expectations to begin with, then it is really bad! Needless to say, we will already be cancelling. When I asked what part of our annual refund we will receive back after we cancel, I was told they cannot tell us that information until after we submit the cancellation form. Run far away from this company!

I don’t know where they are getting their ‘good reviews’ from, but I am very suspicious based on my interaction. It felt like classic overpromising sales tactics- after believing everything the salesperson said I paid over the phone with CC, after which I was supposedly going to get the policy to review and 30 days to cancel. Surprise- I did not see it in that period. When I had an issue with a covered item 6 months into the plan, and submitted a claim (and paid the $75), I find out they only pay for the parts/item and not for installation. I told them this was not my understanding and that I wanted my full premium refunded instead, and after getting the run around with several departments they refused. It’s hilarious on the agreement front as well- they’ve tucked the applicable ‘clause’ umpteen pages into the legalize of the policy, near then end- in a way that seems to me intended to maximize you not seeing it. Needless to say that clause makes this ‘warranty’ completely useless in all practical terms in my opinion! Installation is most of the cost for most things you are going to run into like this, and beyond that I would guess all the service providers will jack up the quote because they will think you have a dependable warranty company who is going to pay the bill. You will probably fix basically any issue you have much cheaper out of pocket then going through LHG. This ‘Warranty’ was a total waste of my money.

My experience with Liberty Home Guard (LHG) has been one long string of poor customer service, broken promises, and deceptive practices. LHG has consistently failed to provide promised resolutions or return my calls. On multiple occasions, LHG's customer service representatives promised callbacks or responses that never occurred, and provided conflicting explanations about coverage.
To resolve a claim on a broken A/C unit, I had to contact their customer service through 7 live chats and 2 phone calls over the course of an entire month, in which they told me repeatedly that the technician had not required needed documentation (even after he had...even after they *admitted* that he had), and finally agreed to pay only $200 on a $2000+ repair because I couldn't provide documentation that was never stipulated in my policy agreement. Very clearly, LHG is not interested in or capable of providing the services for which they took payment from me.

Deceptive and Disappointing. TN: **. I am writing this review amidst our city's scorching temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I feel deceived by the positive reviews of Liberty Home Guard and regret choosing them. Their reviews have misled me. After conducting thorough research, I decided to warranty my home with Liberty Home Guard nearly two months ago. Unfortunately, my experience with them disappointed me, especially when our AC system broke down last week during the extreme heat. I promptly filed a claim, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. I paid $80, as agreed upon during the plan purchase. However, the service I received could have been more satisfactory. The technician they sent concluded that the AC unit needed replacement instead of repair.
When I reached out to them, explaining my battle with cancer and the impact of the heat on my health, they showed no empathy. It took them a whole week to respond, and they did not take any action until Friday afternoon, just before 6:00 PM, when I received an email stating they would only contribute $500 towards the replacement cost. Upon contacting their customer service, I was informed that my AC unit, manufactured in 2001, was considered too old for coverage. However, this crucial information should have been more conveniently noticed during the plan purchase discussions. Their lack of transparency and failure to communicate this limitation upfront was deeply disappointing.
I expressed my frustration, questioning why they hadn't disclosed this information earlier to prevent such a situation. Unfortunately, their response only acknowledged my frustration without resolution or accountability. Their lack of compassion and subpar service during the year's hottest days further added to my disappointment. In conclusion, I regret placing my trust in Liberty Home Guard. I hope this review serves as a warning to others, highlighting their deceptive practices and disregard for needy customers.

This is after 3 weeks from my claim, of which, the first week was a complete waste of time due to their unreliable contractors who never came by. Not only that but when it was time for them to actually help me replace something, they sat around and waited for me to call them every day to actually take action. The local contractors who they hired to actually do the job also complained about them, how they took forever to approve (or disapprove) work orders, and would not call them (the local contractors) back unless they were called and questioned every single day. They should have told me that up front. The process went fine until they called today to tell me I owe 150, and the guy was not nice. "Oh, you should have read your policy." You don't talk to me like that. They said the job is $400, but because it's within the first 90 days, they only cover 250.
If that's the case, they need to explain the policy more, telling me, "You should have read your policy." If he would call and ask me how I would pay, "How you gonna pay? Are you gonna pay now or are you gonna pay the technician?" That was how he talked to me. And I doubt if I would renew my policy.

I liked Liberty's price and rating. But when I signed up, the rep I talked to was pretty much in a hurry to get me off the line. The explanation of the coverage was not that great either.

I am a realtor who has been recommending my clients to use Liberty Home Guard for the past 3 years now. I have not had one client complain to me about an issue, which compared to the past home warranty company I used to recommend, is a night and day difference. Not only does Liberty Home Guard provide excellent service and use quality contractors, they’re constantly improving. When I started working with them, they didn’t even have a customer app, now they have a customer app, contractor app, and a realtor app. Speaking from my experience of directly using the realtor app, it’s extremely useful and intuitive. In my opinion, they are the only innovative company in the space and the only one that is forward thinking. If you want a provider that cares about its customers and knows how to use technology to make the experience better, you should 100% go with Liberty Home Guard.

They sell you lies on policy limits, then send you paperwork with 1/2 the amount covered. Submitted a claim after 6 months of paying, plus a 80.00 copay, and 7 weeks of lies about when a tech is coming! Final straw is when you try and cancel, they tell you "You can spend $175.00 MORE of your own money, hire your own tech, and they will reimburse you". WHY EVEN BOTHER having coverage? 7 weeks since I filed, 3 no show no calls from tech, the tech blames you for calls he never makes, and btw - the tech isn't even from the same state you live in. I don't even know if that is legal.
They have NO techs in the state of CT, send a guy in a minivan to your house with NO ID, he tries to upsell you on a new appliance instead of fixing yours, and then ghosts you! Refund? HA! They claim since the tech has been paid upfront, that they can not refund you. They lie, steal your money based on a business model they have no intention of fulfilling and then you're in the same spot, no working appliance and no money! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Oh yeah, they are NOT accredited with BBB either, they sell you on that, but they are not!

The repairperson that Liberty sent to fix our fridge was great. He came two days after we made our claim. Not only did he fix the fridge issue we originally called in for, he actually fixed the ice maker, which we only mentioned to him when he was on site. Liberty did not charge us any extra or hidden fees and still covered the entire job. Thank you Noah for helping us get set up with this policy to begin with. You were not kidding when you said Liberty was the best. I never expected such exceptional service from a home warranty company!

Liberty Home Guard is made up of great people. I’ve spoken with Lauren, Michelle, Ryan, Jake, just to name a few on their team, and they were all knowledgeable and cared about the problem we were having. From a technology standpoint, I find the Liberty Home Guard customer desktop app to be very useful and pragmatic, where my prior company’s was very confusing. They get their contractors out to customer’s homes quickly and they are generous with the coverage and savings they provide to customers. They seem to be a company that works hard and ensures that the customers’ outcomes are positive. If you are looking for a home warranty plan, I would go with them because in my mind, they are the best.

If I could, I would give them ten stars. On Christmas Eve, we called because our HVAC’s heat cycle was not working at all. It was FREEZING in our house! Fifteen minutes after our initial call, a service professional called us letting us know he could arrive in an hour. We were floored, we thought it would take days to get someone out to our house. He arrived promptly and diagnosed the issue being caused by our air filters clogging up. He proceeded to fix the issue. We had guests coming over and as a result of his speed never were inconvenienced. Based on this and other interactions we’ve had with them, I do recommend Liberty Home Guard as a home warranty service provider.

My oven was not turning on. I tried to fix it myself, even resetting the breaker in the house, but I just couldn’t get it back on. I proceeded to contact Liberty who assigned me a contractor then and there on the spot. The contractor called me not five minutes after I hung up with the Liberty agent. We set an appointment for the next day. The next day the contractor arrived on time and not only diagnosed the issue, but fixed it also. I appreciate Liberty’s organizational skills in communicating and keeping everyone coordinated because it yields fast service, consistently.

Beware and read the contract!!! They don’t pay for the installation which other companies do. The rollers in the dryer were broken. I paid the $125 fee to get the guy to come out. He came out quickly and made the diagnosis and then said I had to pay $179 for the installation. So total payment was $304 which is what I could have paid with my own plumber.

My Viking refrigerator was not cooling. I was extremely anxious to say the least, given that it was a relatively new refrigerator that we bought about 8 months prior and it was very expensive. Thankfully I bought the professional series coverage from Liberty and when I called in, I was immediately connected with a very competent agent, named Manual. He did great in reassuring me that it was a fixable issue and helped me coordinate to get a service professional specially trained on Viking out to my home the next day. The guy brought all the tools and parts he needed and was able to fix the issue in that visit. The unit works good as new and has not had any problems since, fingers crossed it stays that way. Thank you Manual and team. I sincerely appreciate you.

As a customer of theirs for the past 2 years, I can confidently say that Liberty Home Guard’s performance is consistently excellent. Lorraine, throughout a few of our claims was always very helpful and the representatives she supervises were also great in assisting us, many times. Their app makes placing the claim easy from a computer, and I appreciate that their systems keep us apprised almost every step of the way. All the contractors they sent our way were professional, and motivated to help. Strong recommendation.

We signed up with LHG approximately 3 years ago and prepaid five years upfront, after days of going back and forth with a sales rep over the details. We had just left American Home Guard after about 6 years of absolutely horrible service there and had been burned. Due to the prior experience, I knew what to ask LHG to make sure we got what we needed from the plan. We bought a house that came with all high end brand appliances, ie Viking, Dacor, etc, and I specifically made sure each of these brands would be covered, listing them to the rep. He assured me they would, so we agreed. For 2 and a half years LHG covered our appliances, even when the Viking fridge died multiple times and then needed to be replaced. But when the Dacor oven died a month ago, they suddenly claimed luxury appliances are not covered under our plan and never were.
When I refuted this, stating exactly what I’ve written above, the reps told me that they had previously been paying me the courtesy of covering our appliances but cannot any longer. I told them I’d like the recorded call pulled from the sales call and they said I’m not privy to that call. Then the rep admitted to me that whatever the salesman might have sold me is not necessarily what is in my contract and the language of the contract is what they stand by. He fully admitted that the salesman can say whatever they want to make the deal and they don’t have to stand behind that.
To this, I told them the salesman said I could cash out the rest of the plan whenever I’d like if I’m not happy, so I’d like to cash out. They proceeded to send me an email DEDUCTING the cost of every single claim I’d made to them from the amount they would have owed me for cashing out, which fully negated my remaining balance. This company is an utter scam and has no integrity at All.

My guy, Noah, was really good, and I really like him. I completed an application online and he called me almost immediately. He was very helpful, outlining the options. Liberty Home Guard had a promotion at the time, which worked for me. It was in my budget and it seemed like it covered everything I needed. I've had the plan for a week, and I put one of my friends on as well. So far, so good.

We've had two claims, and Liberty took care of both of them as soon as they said they were going to. One was the oven. The hinge wasn't working properly. It was pulled away from the back of the oven, so they had to order a new hinge. The other claim was for the dryer timer. It stopped working, and they replaced it. Liberty Home Guard has been great so far, and it's definitely nice to know that I have that to fall back on before I have to have a lot of money out of my pocket.

The work their contractor did fixing our heating system was excellent. You can tell that Liberty knows what it is doing. I personally know that not every contractor in my area is the most professional, but every time they’ve sent someone to my house, that contractor was nothing but. Professional and hard-working contractors along with a wonderful team of personnel we speak to when we call in, or get called. I am more than satisfied with the quality of their service.

We needed to get outlet covers reinstalled and we wanted to switch out our light switches. I called in and Lauren I believe is the representative I spoke with took me through the Liberty project management program. They offered to provide me all the discounts they receive on labor and parts and to deal with actually managing the project–scheduling, invoicing, payment, etc. I took them up on it and it worked out flawlessly. I saved about $350 and they did really help as opposed to overcomplicate things. Their team is clearly highly motivated to help.

I'm a little disappointed with Liberty because one of the main reasons I signed up is that I have continuous problems with the freezer on my refrigerator, mainly the ice maker. That was something I was very specific about with the gentleman that I signed up with and I was assured that everything was in there. But upon looking at my paperwork, since I am now having problems with my ice maker, I saw that it's not part of the coverage. I am gonna have to go back and re-sign up and have the ice maker on the policy before I can use it again.

Liberty really did a great job underwriting coverage for some of my nonstandard needs. We have these two waterfalls on the side of our pool and they had no problem custom underwriting coverage for them. We also got them to underwrite an outdoor sauna and an electric fireplace. I was nervous if we had claims on these items how they would go, but they actually facilitate repairs on the electric fireplace and the sauna and everything went well overall. They covered us and saved us around $1,200 on both claims. Their contractors really went the extra mile to be accommodative. I had to reschedule an appointment with one I had on a Friday, and he agreed and came out to my house to perform the repair on a Saturday. Thank you for being trustworthy and putting out a good product, Liberty.
