Filing a claim with Liberty Home Guard is reasonably easy. However, they have a tendency of grabbing the least expensive item to replace. I had a thermostat that had programming capabilities, and the best they would approve was something that was very low end. It functions, but it did not have programming capabilities. That’s a constant concern regarding Liberty. They seem to be prompt, but they don't replace quality.

Just bought a new home and wanted a home warranty company that would cover all the major items in case of breakdown. HVAC, appliances, etc. The product the salesman represented to me will cover all those items including Pro series appliances. It was a pretty quick process. I have yet to file a claim but the sign up process was reasonable and somewhat quick.

Sean was very professional and a pleasure to work with. If I didn’t understand something, he had no problem in explaining it again so that I did. I know my plan will start in one month and I needed this type of plan for my appliances, etc. Sean made the decision easy.

Edit: I called to act as if I wanted to renew my policy and it’s funny how the first thing the agent says was “our policies now covers installation and labor fees” And I told her that’s what y’all told me when I brought the policy I have now. She hung up in my face!!! I called back and was automatically routed by to customer service. And when I requested to be transferred back to the sales department they said they needed authorization to transfer me back. It’s funny how everyone in the sales department speak fluent American English and those in the customer service department don’t.!!!
Liberty Home Guard does not cover the labor/installation fees for your appliances/HVAC!!! My heater went out blowing cold air, the technician came out only to diagnose that the breaker tripped. He only flipped it back on (the outside main breaker). A couple of weeks later the same issue, the same technician came out and replaced the breaker (outside by the condenser). The next day it happened again!!! This time not only that but the fan continuously ran none stop for almost 3 hours after the heater was off!!!! (I have a heat pump)
This time the same technician is now saying it’s the Fan Relay and capacitor. Liberty Home Guard is only covering the cost of parts $102 and I’m responsible for the labor or $275. I called the technician and told him of the conversation and he said he’s never heard of a warranty company where the consumer has to cover the labor, that’s the point of a warranty. Well so did I!!! I requested a new technician, because why should I trust your diagnosis if you had to come out 3 times for the same issue. I was told that I can’t get a new technician, that the original technician has to complete the job. I was also told they cover everything such as cost and fees from the salesman when I purchased this policy!!! If you’re thinking about going with this company please think again!!!!

The prices were fair and easy to understand. I spoke with someone on the phone regarding any remaining questions I had. They called within a minute of me submitting. I do wish that he was the only call I received. I got six more calls that day from Liberty, which was annoying. I also didn’t like being sold even more items at check out.

What a crock! Liberty Home Guard insured me, as was promised, to pay if I had a sewer leak. About 2 months later, my plumbing went out and they said I was covered, they took the information about the problem and said they'd get back to me after I paid them another $85. The plumbing bill was $9,000. They said they'd give me $250!!!!! And when I complained I said, "Well, what about the possible sewer leak," the guy laughed and said they would ONLY give me $500, IF IT HAPPENED. I told him I wanted my money back on the policy and the only thing I heard from them was an email encouraging me to extend my warranty which was not up till June, 2026. Don't believe Liberty and I guess this alleged ConsumerAffairs ad is bullshit too. They never paid the $250 or gave me back my $687. If ConsumerAffairs is for real - do something for me!!!!! I guess I'll have to sue liberty and ConsumerAffairs.

Miscommunication on prices and coverage. I asked for steam coverage and then when I read over the contract, it didn’t even have it in there. And then I was told that he didn’t remember. It seemed like a great deal in conversation at first, but things didn’t turn out the way it appeared.

The options to add additional coverage for specific items clearly should be an industry standard. Customer service rep had good communication, explained options clearly, fast transaction. Didn't try to sell me products I didn't need, recommend giving these guys a try.

Tried to replace my $900 stainless steel dishwasher with a $295 plastic dishwasher. The policy claims they will replace it with one that is similar. According to them, similar only means that it washes and dries and then they choose the cheapest option possible.

The HVAC system's been tripping a breaker. A repairman came out the other day but couldn't figure out what was going on with it. It started happening again on Sunday. He was out again this morning but still couldn't figure out what's going on with it. But I appreciate him. It's nice that he has come back. A friend recommended getting a home warranty as he liked the convenience of having everything in one place and not having to constantly call this company or that company. I did a bunch of research and went with Liberty Home Guard. I like them. However, their app could be better. The login thing's broken. Every time it asks if I wanna set a face ID, I answer yet. But the next time you go in, it doesn't remember you, and you have to do it all over again. Otherwise, everything has been good and I'd recommend them.

I've had Liberty Home Guard for a while, but it seems like the service was charging me extra to install the parts. Once I paid the deductible, they should come out here and fix whatever the problem is and install the parts. So, I really wasn't happy with it. They didn't disclose that there was an extra charge on installing the parts. Because once I paid the deductible, then they want to slap an extra charge on there for installing the part. I should be covered under the deductible. The problem was a sensor in the refrigerator. The tech came out here and fixed the problem, but I had to pay another extra $83 for the install.

I had a water heater and filed a claim for it with Liberty. It took forever to get anybody to come out and it also took forever for them to approve it. Then they didn't want to fix it. They want to replace it, which would have been fine except that they're only gonna pay 100 dollars for it. The guy who came out and told me the part that needed to be fixed, it wasn't the correct part because it's still not fixed. When I told Liberty it was still not fixed, they said, "Then we're just replacing it. We're not gonna fix it." It was a big headache. I'm really pissed off about that. It's still broken. They've closed it because I refuse to go through them for a new one when it's gonna cost me less to do it on my own.

Company, they used for fixing Refrigerator (TopLine appliance), they have worst customer service. They are not replying phone calls, or text message. It took them almost month to get parts and installed it, after installation with two week it stops working again. After installation they didn't check properly that is there any leak or not. Problem is NOT Resolved yet. Almost 2 months without Refrigerator.

I had another provider but Liberty gave me a better deal. I also like that they let me call in my own repair people since I’m out in a rural area and don’t have many options. I got the service because I have appliances and I don’t want to pay repair bills when things break. I usually submit my claims online, and it’s easy. I always tell the contractors that I have a Liberty Home Guard and that I will pay them, and Liberty will reimburse me for whatever part they cover. I’ve been with Liberty for about three years and they’re Johnny-on-the-spot. I'm fine with them, which is why I keep them.

I made a claim for my oven and it didn’t go well. Liberty sent out a pair of techs who came out, diagnosed it, and said they would come back, but they never showed up again. Then another pair of techs was sent out to diagnose the issue again, and they couldn’t replicate the problem. One of the techs pulled the oven out, banged up my cabinets, and then put it back in. In the end, they never figured out the problem, and my oven was never fixed. This happened about a year ago and I eventually got tired of taking time off and trying to accommodate them. On the other hand, when my microwave went out, Liberty replaced it. You can see a bracket on one side of the microwave so it wasn’t perfect. But the tech did a good job.
Liberty Home Guard’s customer service has been okay overall. But I’m dissatisfied with my experience. People should stay away from Liberty. I’ve spent a lot of money on them. I signed up for a six-year term with them and the oven was my first claim and it never got resolved, so that’s disappointing.

Before I purchased a home warranty with Liberty Home Guard, I did a web search and found a couple of companies, then I went to look at the reviews and finalized my choice. Currently, I've been covered with Liberty Home Guard for one and a half years. I normally use the app for claims and it's easy. Sometimes the contractors are good, and sometimes they are okay, but I do not have a good experience with plumbing claims especially. Other than that, it's fine.
Recently, my refrigerator stopped working, and that claim is not going well. Initially, Liberty said someone would come to check that and it happened. In the contractor's point of view, the repair will be more costly, so he submitted a request to replace my refrigerator, then after that, I received a call asking about an extended warranty. It's been almost two weeks now and nothing's moving. I tried to chat as well, but I'm not getting a response. The claim is for a fridge, which is one of the essential items in a home. Without that, it's too difficult. Still, I can suggest people to go for Liberty Home Guard. Overall, I have had good experiences other than the current one.

I switched from another company to Liberty Home Guard. It's been about two years now and they're doing much better than the previous company I was with. The technicians they send out have all been professional and I have no complaints. Most of the time, I do claims online. While I don't directly deal with a representative, there was one situation where I was asking for more contribution to a new washing machine and I dealt with a person on the phone, which was all right. We agreed on a slightly higher payment by Liberty Home Guard.

Updated on 03/11/2026: *3 Yr update*. After 3 yrs and 3 policies with LHG, things have not changed. I have had conversations with multiple managers, left reviews and detailed everything that is wrong with this company but ZERO has changed. Here is what I have learned after 3 yrs and over 20 claims. When you look at the fine print on what they actually cover, you will notice that more than half of the components are not actually covered for each system/appliance. You will also need to have some good knowledge on the different mechanical and electrical components that make up each system in order to understand what the fine print is actually telling you.
There is a very important Limit of Liability under section H10(a)i.3 that states that LHG will cover up to the "Item's Book Value". They use an internal website that tells them how much they will cover for your appliance/system based on its age and model number. This means that it can be as low as $75 if your appliance is at the end of its "average" useful life. Here are the average useful life years according to one of their Sr Managers: A/C is 15 yrs; Microwave, water heater, refrigerator, washer, and dryers are all 10 years.
I have 1.5 yrs left on two of my policies and I am counting down that days. Has it been worth the "great" deal I thought I was getting by purchasing 5+ yr agreements and multiple policies? NO. The one policy where I have had the most claims, I am only about 70% towards recouping what I paid for the policy and what LHG has actually paid out. This would actually be less than 50% if it wasn't for their screw up with the A/C. (see 2nd yr update above)
I am literally counting down the days until each one of my policies end. The headaches, stress, frustration and anxiety are not worth it. If you fight hard and long enough, they will eventually assign a "Senior Manager" to do courtesy credits and/or higher reimbursements but you will have to fight tooth and nail to get anything above the minimum reimbursement.
Original Review: DON'T TRUST THE ALMOST PERFECT 5 STAR RATING!!!
Initial Review: Eric ** did an outstanding job. He was very professional and completed my transaction in a quick and effective manner. Excellent customer service!!
**First year update** LHG always hires the most non experienced technicians (NOT LICENSED/INSURED). Because of this, my new A/C that was installed 5 months ago leaked through my ceiling. After TWO months of wasting time to "determine" if they would pay for the repairs, I had to find and get an A/C tech out to fix the problem because no one would work directly with LHG. This ended up costing me over $8k in lost income.
This has not been the first time LHG has let me down. When my A/C went out last year, they only covered $800 out of the $8200 bill. And just to be fair and give you some context, yes it was almost a 20 year old system and I understand that they prorate the reimbursement, but $800 is a bit ridiculous. The point of purchasing this policy is to help cover these expenses.
Going back to my initial review of this company. I was really excited to have a policy with a company with an almost 5 Star rating. The onboarding process was amazing. The agent was incredible. LHG should hire people like him to work in their customer service department. I am in complete shock every time I have to call and speak to someone in customer service. They are the most ignorant and unhelpful agents that I have ever dealt with. They make up any lie to get you off the phone. They have no clue as to what is actually going on with your claim but they try to sound like they do.
After weeks and months of calling and getting different answers from customer service reps AND their supervisors, I got fed up and decided to change my 5 star rating here on Google to a 1 star. It took LHG less than a week and contact me to find out exactly why I rated them so low. Ever since, I have my own "personal" resolution specialist that updates me on every claim. We'll see how things go from here but LHG really needs to invest their money in training their customer service reps and getting resolution specialist to actually resolve a claim with the 48hrs that they claim it takes for them to make a decision.
To be fair I have three home policies with LHG. They have covered some of the smaller claims, like dishwasher replacements, microwave replacement, ceiling fan replacement, and a garage door motor. But when it comes to big ticket items like A/C replacement, water heater replacement and ceiling/roof repairs...good luck with getting them to pay anywhere close to what it costs to get them fixed/replaced. In the end... DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE ALMOST 5 STAR RATING... These are mostly ratings by customer like me who were asked to review their initial experience with LHG and not the claim process or customer service.
**Second Year Update** The A/C problem continues... The 1 year old A/C that was installed by their "Liberty Home Guard Certified" technician is broke once again. This time a $5k compressor. NOW, LHG is saying that they won't cover the repairs since it is under the manufacturer's warranty. What they don't get is that is was their technician's ineptitude that broke the unit. In the end, I had to hire my own technician to replace the entire system once again since the system that was installed in Dec 2023 was contaminated. So after paying over $28,500 in HVAC replacements and repairs, LHG has only covered $1,400 and this was only after escalating the issue to managers. What a joke!

We recently worked with Alex ** to set up a 6-year 'Total Home Guard' plan for my new property in Cromwell. Alex was fantastic—very patient, professional, and helped me lock in a great long term deal. As we are new customers, we haven't had to file a claim yet, so we don't know how fast the actual repair services are. However, if the maintenance and repair side of the company is even half as good as Alex’s help during the setup, we’ll be very happy customers. The salesperson of Liberty Home Guard lied to me. I got them because they said that they are one of the few people that covers well systems. But they don’t. I'm just waiting until my contract runs out and then I'm not renewing with them. I tried to call to cancel. It took two weeks to get someone to respond to the email and they really didn't want to do it to the point where they were willing to actually cover the well. But then, there were issues with the contractor. And it took six months before I could even get anyone to go out there.
But when I had a microwave replaced, it was relatively easy and painless. It went well. The person that they sent out there was good. He was amazing. There were scheduling issues because they put him on the schedule without informing him and he didn't know. I live in the middle of the woods and it's hard for people to come out to me. I had to call and reschedule with him. But when he finally had time to come out, it went great.
Generally, the contractors I've had with them have been good for the most part. People should just make sure they read the contract. There are some fees. If you get an electrician, and even if you just have to go up there and check a wire, it's over $100 just for him to do that.

I had a faucet frozen under sink, a technician came out. Spoke no English. The only part I could get, was $35O. New faucet, I cancelled warranty. I called and talked to Eli **. He said no problem will send all his information within 5 minutes. He said get a plumber out there, Send him paid invoice. Never heard a word, Then my credit card was charged for monthly fee. I called bank. Then I suddenly heard from them again, I was told send paid invoice and we will pay. I basically told them you send money and I’ll send paid invoice, never heard from them, they refused to send 90$ service fee. The bank got my monthly back. Not a very good way to do business, never received receipt from technician.

This was one of the worst purchases that I have ever made. We had purchased a home and decided to purchase a home warranty since the appliances in the home were older but high end units. When I contacted Liberty Home Guard about their warranty, I specifically asked about the older home appliances and was assured that there was coverage up to $2000 for repairs if there was a failure. Well about 4 months into the warranty, our Thermador Range failed. The claim was easy to make and a technician came to the house to diagnose the issues. The claim was immediately denied due to the age of the range.
I contacted Liberty Home Guard claims to discuss the denial, which ended up in complete frustration. They offered me $300 as a good will gesture to replace the range. This range new is over $12,000. The claims representative stated that the book value of the range was not adequate for the repairs required, which totaled approximately $1100 - well under the $2000 limit. I requested to be provided the "book value" of the range, which they would never produce since it does not exist. The contract does state that the book value of the appliance does factor into any claims but they will never provide you with an actual book value from an independent source.
I ended up canceling the contract immediately and had an incredibly difficult time receiving a refund. They even went as far as to send me a check, canceled the check and then provided the prorated refund via the credit card that I utilized to purchase the warranty. I would never recommend this company for a home warranty, as it was one of the worst experiences that I have been through.

The contractors have been pretty good. Luckily, the claims I did with Liberty were really simple and they didn't mind taking care of them. I had an AC issue, but it was just a safety valve thing so it was a real easy fix. Another really easy fix was the main pipe cracked and just needed to be repaired for the plumbing. For those type of situations, Liberty is good, but those are also things you could easily pretty much do yourself for cheaper.
I know that there are situations where they wouldn't wanna pay for stuff but I didn't have those situations. The only thing is I told Liberty I didn't want a renewal and to take me off automatic renewal, but they did it anyway. Last year, I had that problem and they helped me out. They said they fixed it and gave me a credit. If it does that again, I'm definitely gonna cancel because I'm not planning on renewing it.

My experiences with Liberty Home Guard have been favorable. Submitting a claim is fairly smooth. They immediately work with the claim and process it, and off it goes. I do my claims on the phone and they routinely send me information about the contractors by email and text. Generally, the contractors have been good. I've used my folks routinely, but on occasion, I use Liberty's.

I've been with Liberty Home Guard for a year and a half, and I've only submitted one claim that I did online. Their website was user-friendly. I was given information about the company that was gonna come out, and then the company called me before they came. The contractor looked at the appliance, determined that it would be more cost-efficient to replace it than replace the part, and then they submitted that to Liberty Home Guard. Liberty did me right by the one claim I've had, so I have no complaints with them.

I had very bad experiences with my previous home warranty provider so I swapped and went with Liberty Home Guard. On the positive side, they're usually pretty quick about finding a contractor though I've had to bug a contractor to get them to respond. However, the whole negotiation between you and them and finally getting to a resolution seems to take a little while. I haven't had an AC go out, but if I did, that would be very frustrating waiting a long time for them to do their negotiation while there's no air conditioning in my home.
Additionally, they should do a better job of communicating that if they do a replacement, they'll never cover installation. I had to find that out the hard way. That needs to be better communicated upfront. One thing Liberty should look at is adding an add-on coverage that would take care of installation. That would be something that people would be interested in. But everything else has been pretty smooth. Right now, I'm waiting on them to respond on a garage door opener. The claims I've filed have typically been more handyman services than electricians or plumbers. But they've gotten the job done, so I can't complain.

My claim with Liberty Home Guard was reasonably well-handled. The contractor who came out was outstanding. They replaced the control board on the oven that would not light. The repair took less than an hour and now everything is working fine. The communication at Liberty side of the equation could be improved a little bit, but the contracting side was fine. Other than that, Liberty is reasonably good. I'd tell others to give them a try.

When filing a claim online, Liberty's website is very user-friendly. Any time I've called in a claim, they've handled it well too. Recently, I had a claim for my Samsung refrigerator. It wasn't making ice then all of a sudden the freezer went out as well. But it couldn't be serviced so I went on and got a new one. I'm gonna send in the receipt. They also want a picture of the refrigerator and where it is to verify, which I understand.
I'm pretty satisfied with Liberty Home Guard and I've already referred a lot of people to them. When you call in, they're not gonna give you the runaround. They fix the issue and if they can't, they will either replace it or reimburse you. They're top shape. The contractors that come out are very good as well.

Overall, Liberty Home Guard has been okay. We've used it a couple of times and the process has been pretty smooth. However, the first time, it had to do with a plumbing leak, and there were some other issues that came up with the plumber that we never got fully resolved. They came in and fixed the leak. But as they were working, they accidentally spilled some of the purple primer for the pipes on my wife's shoes, and it wouldn't come off. They said that they had their own liability insurance so they would send me a check, but it never came.
We followed up and kept on going back and forth with them, but we kept being pushed off. I had gone back to Liberty to tell them about it and complain, but they said it was out of their hands. But other than that, there was one other claim that I used them for, and it was straightforward.

For my most recent dishwasher claim with Liberty, I was not happy with it because the tech could not speak English. He didn't identify himself. He was also trying to bill me for something when I had prepaid for it for the checkout fee that I had to have. Then they also canceled because of the weather. Liberty needs to be reaching out to repair people with a set criteria of how they're gonna introduce themselves, and that they need to be dressed so they're identifiable. And if they're vending from umpteen different places, they should at least call, text or leave a message so that you know that someone's coming.
I also noticed that my phone was blowing up in the last few months because now they wanna charge me for the furnace and other heavy duty mechanics that I have in my home. When I took out the policy, which was a five-year policy, it was covered and they gave me quotes as to how much it was covered for, so I have no idea whether they've stripped it away or what.

I was given so much inaccurate information about my coverage. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend to anyone. They said what you want to hear to make the sale and then reword it all in the fine print. 3 weeks after claim and a technician still hasn’t come and when I call customer service they are not helpful.

Kevin was very patient answering all my questions, he even hold in line while I was trying to cancel with my previous home warranty company. He gave me tips on how to handle my cancellation as I was getting a hard time trying to cancel. Signing up was easy and Kevin was very helpful. The rates are good compared with other inquiries. Six year plan is a great deal but requires the money upfront so I had to go with the one year plan. I’m hoping that my claims are as easy and fair as signing up.

Do not purchase this home warranty. They will scam you on the price and send technicians that are not licensed. I have been going through hell since July 23, 2025 with this fraudulent company. The technician they send flooded my second floor and LHG refused to make me whole. Check the Better Business Bureau reviews. They are terrible. Also, you cannot locate their Google review although they use it for advertising.

There was an issue where a check that was sent to me by Liberty Home Guard was sent to my rental property and not my home address. When I called this morning, I asked a customer service representative if the check had been sent and he said yes. It was mailed on the 18th. I notified him that he had sent the check to the wrong address. I then called my renters and they said that the check had not arrived yet but that when it did, they would let me know. At that point, I decided to call back to Liberty Home Guard and see if I could get the check re-issued to my correct address. He listened to my problem and quickly was able to identify what needed to be done to correct it. I was very happy with his level of customer service.

The worst home warranty I have ever had; I have had a home warranty for over a decade. Most of my appliances were not covered as they were considered upgrades. After you pay the 100 fee and then the upgrade fee of 200-250, the company then denies your claim. I have never felt so ripped off by a company. Stay away - you will regret the waste of your premiums. This is the worst company to deal with EVER!

Liberty Home Guard deducted a "diagnosis fee" that was never disclosed, authorized or documented. On November 26, 2025, I paid $125 for a technician coverage evaluation, which I confirmed would cover the initial visit. Liberty Home Guard later deducted an additional “diagnosis fee” that was never disclosed or authorized, citing a contract provision that allows for such fees. However, they refused to identify when and how this fee was disclosed to me, when and how I allegedly consented to the amount, or provide a copy of the invoice. Their resolution team admitted they could not locate the fee in their system and the supervisor conceded that the "diagnosis fee" may vary.
Despite all this, the company continues to refuse to honor full policy coverage which has caused financial harm and unnecessary delay in essential repairs. In comparison, the independent plumber I found performed the initial evaluation at no cost and provided a much lower repair quote. For those who have been similarly impacted, Liberty Home Guard's actions may violate consumer protection and contract principles as set forth below, because they charged an undisclosed, unauthorized and unsupported "diagnosis fee", reducing coverage for repairs: Contract law: Fees must be disclosed and agreed to in advance; undisclosed, variable fees are unenforceable.
Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act: Deducting undisclosed fees that reduce coverage constitutes a deceptive act. Home warranty regulations: Imposing undisclosed charges may be considered an unauthorized deduction or misrepresentation. Equity principles: Charging undisclosed fees may constitute unjust enrichment or fraud.

Called to have leaking toilet repaired. Plumber had to replace parts inside toilet to correct. Liberty HomeGuard said it was install rather than a repair because parts were replaced. Majority of the time a repair requires replacing parts as everyone knows. They refused to pay for service. Would never buy contract from them again.

NEVER EVER EVER BUY A WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY! I submitted a claim in August because my HVAC system wasn't working. It took them until October to approve the claim (2.5 months no AC). Then it took them until November to install. After two weeks, the BRAND NEW system they sold me for $7800 stopped working. I submitted a new claim, now 3 weeks later, they want another $280 to fix it (mind you no AC and now no heat during the winter months!!) This company is nothing but scam artists and thieves. Every claim has been nothing but a battle.

I own a few homes and they were aging. I checked out a few home warranties and the original sales person from Liberty was really good. I was given a really competitive deal for multiple year policies, so I got it on a couple of properties.
I’ve already submitted four claims online. I get pretty quick responses, but trying to schedule with the times it worked for me and the contractor could sometimes take a couple days. Sometimes, they had to order a part or they had to do things in pieces, so those claims took some time. Other times, they just came in and did what they had to do.
Each time, the vendors they use have been nice and friendly, and really wants to do a good job. Like the last plumber who came in and kind of went the extra mile. The rep had to tear down the wall, replaced old valves and put in a proper upgraded fittings for valves, which he probably could have avoided. Then we had to get the guy to fix the wall. There was also a time where we thought something the repair was fixed but it wasn't. The guy came back pretty quickly and fixed it. Even though it's not perfect, they made it perfect very fast. Overall, Liberty Home Guard has been doing exactly what I paid for and I appreciate their good work.

We've had a home warranty for over 20 years but we weren't satisfied with the previous company we had so we wanted to change. I did some research online trying to find a good home warranty company and saw Liberty’s customers have a lot of good things to say about them.
I usually file a claim online and within 10 minutes, they respond back. They let me know which technician they're gonna contact and in a couple of days, a technician schedules an appointment with me. It’s really much improvement versus what we were dealing with before. Overall, Liberty has amazing service and I've been really happy with everything so far.

Liberty Home Guard is better than the companies I had before that found all kinds of reasons not to cover something that ought to be covered. With them, there's no argument back and forth. I also like that with Liberty Home Guard, I could get my own serviceperson to handle the repairs and not necessarily go with who they provide.
But I don't like that they have a limit on the amount covered for certain claims like plumbing ones. If the cost of the repair goes over a certain amount, then you're not covered. In other words, they won't cover the cost of the whole thing and you have to pay the remainder. But I haven't read the policy as closely as I should, so maybe that's something that was there. I just didn't know when I was buying the warranty that there would be a limit because with other companies, if you have a really bad plumbing issue, usually your home insurance pays for it. Other than that, I've had protection with Liberty Home Guard for a couple of years and I like them.

2) It takes ages to get a technician actually go to your home. After the initial diagnosis you'll then need to wait for "approval" (which can take days), and then wait again for another technician to schedule a new visit. And if you are not on the phone every day they will forget about your claim altogether.
3) They will harass you to renew the policy and will do it even if you do not want to. They will also spam you with marketing stuff non stop. They are really desperate for clients.

Liberty’s deductible payment led me to choose them over other companies. I usually submit claims online so I don’t talk to anybody. Depending on what the problem is, they send out their technicians pretty fast.

If you are considering Liberty Home Guard, please be careful. They use misleading sales tactics and have coverage rules that make their plans mostly useless, especially for older appliances. A salesperson convinced me to buy a multi-year plan, promising a full refund for any unused time if I canceled. This promise was not honored.
The biggest problem is a hidden rule: they don't cover anything older than 15 years. This is a major issue because most people buy warranties for their older appliances. When my old HVAC system broke, the repair tech said it was an easy fix. But Liberty Home Guard told the tech not to fix it because of its age and tried to sell me an expensive replacement instead. After a long argument, they finally allowed the cheap repair.
After this incident, I tried to cancel my policy and get my money back. They then pointed to fine print I was never told about. This small print allows them to deduct money spent on any claims, plus an extra cancellation fee, from the refund balance. This is all in direct contradiction to what I was told by their salesperson. The company hides important information about what they cover and how cancellations work. It took a very long time to mail me my tiny refund check. This lack of honesty makes it impossible to trust them or recommend their service.

Liberty Home Guard due to their failure to properly handle my appliance replacement claim and their misleading claims process. My covered unit is a GE Profile PSB9120OSF2SS combination microwave and wall oven. Liberty Home Guard determined the unit was too expensive to repair and stated they would replace it. However, instead of providing a comparable appliance, they attempted to give me a single electric wall oven—something completely different that does not include the microwave function. This is not equivalent and does not restore the full functionality of my kitchen.
When I contacted their claims department to correct this, I was repeatedly apologized to, but the representatives openly admitted they have no authority to make changes, approve replacements, or adjust payouts. They simply relay messages and cannot make any decisions. This makes their “claims department” pointless and misleading, as it provides no real help or resolution. After going in circles, Liberty Home Guard offered only $100, which is insulting considering that a true microwave/oven combo unit costs between $3,000 and $5,000.
Their refusal to provide a comparable replacement, combined with a claims department that has no power to address issues, demonstrates poor business practices and misrepresentation of their service. I paid for coverage expecting honest, functional protection—not empty apologies and a payout that does not even remotely match the cost of the covered appliance.
Because of this, I have canceled my policy, especially with my next monthly payment scheduled to draft within two days. As a 100% disabled veteran, I expect fair and transparent service. Instead, I was left with no working microwave/oven combo and no meaningful support from Liberty Home Guard.
I am requesting:
A revised and fair cash payout that reflects the actual cost of a comparable combination unit.Documentation explaining why a non-comparable appliance was offered.
Confirmation that my policy is fully canceled and no further payments will be taken.
I am asking the BBB to assist, as Liberty Home Guard has not resolved this issue and continues to hide behind a claims department that has no authority to help customers. If you’d like, I can also write:✔ a short version

This is a racket! My dishwasher broke. LHG sent the same technician out 4 times, despite saying he could not fix it. LHG then agreed to replace my dishwasher. They were going to replace a $900 dishwasher with a $298 plastic dishwasher. When I told them they were not comparable, they said the only requirements they are obligated to is to replace it with a dishwasher that washes, dries and drains. Like auto insurance replacing your Ferrari with a Mitsubishi. Save your money and do not look at LHG. 25% of all reviews are a 1 Star. Should tell you something!

Please do not purchase this. Liberty Home Guard collects the $70 fee, sends a technician out, and then tells you the appliance needs to be replaced. They give you a quote for a new appliance that is HIGHER than retail stores. I replaced both my washer and dryer. It was cheaper to buy them directly from Best Buy, than Liberty. Liberty gave me $100 for my appliances, which is essentially, just $30, when you consider I paid $70 for each initial visit. This is a scam. Get the extended warranty from the stores and save your money.

Liberty worked with us to clear up some misunderstandings and was very helpful in resolving the claim. They gave us a generous reimbursement even though the problem was not covered under our policy. We are pleased to continue using them as our home warranty company.

I have been with Liberty for almost 2 years. I have had minor claims and they responded well but my last claim for a refrigerator repair has been "waiting review" for weeks. I filed my claim on October 26. It's November 14 and I am still waiting for a resolution. My claim is being passed around different departments. I wish I could bail but I bought a 10 year contract. My bad. Try other home warranty companies. I'm sure they are all better than Liberty.

This place is a disaster - we are locked in to a multi-year contract with them and every interaction is worse than the last. Our garage door broke 3 months ago and then the repair that their tech completed failed and they are unwilling to cover the claim. Everything is slow and unorganized. Don't believe the fake reviews, I've done probably 15+ claims with them over the past 5 years and most have not gone smoothly.

The whole system is incredibly frustrating and feels useless. My account is on hold, so I can’t use the service for an entire month—even though my dishwasher is not functioning. On top of that, I’m required to pay upfront just to file a claim, and that fee is non-refundable. Then I have to wait for a technician to come out and tell me whether the issue is even covered by this so-called “insurance.” Overall, it’s been a complete waste of money and time. I absolutely would not recommend this service.

I never had a good experience with these folks. My microwave stopped working and all they would pay is $300 for a replacement. That is $200 short of a new microwave of the same brand and size. And it has to be installed in cabinet which will cost even more. No point taking this home warranty. They won't provide any other support. Earlier I had a leaking cloth washer for which I raised a request. It was not fixed and I eventually had to get it fixed myself even with home warranty in place. Please look some place else for home warranty.

I've had Liberty for a year now. Most of the time, if I have a warranty claim, it usually gets denied because of weird writing in their system. It’s not worth it. But for my garage door claim, the contractor was great.

Liberty Home Guard is okay. But in some cases, the agreement is not clear-cut. And as a contractor, whenever you guys are tied up, sometimes they are not doing the work as it's supposed to be. I had to follow up multiple times. In reality, what happened, I paid out two times for the same service, and then it has been told it's a different problem. But I just saw one problem and they didn't address it properly.
People have an insurance so if there's an issue, they don't pay or they don't have the hassle. Recently, the pan was not working properly. There was a leakage. I called them, that guy came and worked in a way, but still the water was leaking. At the end of the day, I paid for the insurance, I paid for the service, but the water leak is the water bill that I'm paying. Nobody is covering that. So there’s no meaning of having an insurance. Liberty took a huge amount from me for this five-year service and they should have much better contractors.

Overall, I'm satisfied with Liberty Home Guard. I had a plumbing issue recently. It was a tub overflow in the bathroom. The contractor checked out what they thought it was and he repaired it and we haven't had a problem since. Now I just have to go back and do the drywall repair because it leaked into the dining room area. They were quick to have somebody come out.
I manage two properties for the owners and they actually have a different company for the other home. We haven't had great experience with the other company over the years. So I think they decided, "Let's try a different one on this property and see what's good and what's not." And actually, Liberty was quicker to have somebody else than the other company.

Our kitchen refrigerator wasn't keeping the recommended temperature. The inside temperature got warm, both on the freezer and the refrigerator side. It took a long and very tedious procedure before I could get somebody here. It was, unfortunately, right before the long weekend. It took four days before the technician showed up. Then there was a big wait because, apparently, Liberty needs to get their part. They don't let the technician order the part. They have to do the ordering themselves. It has to go through several department approvals and it takes forever.
I had to make several phone calls and I couldn't talk to anybody who could make a decision. I left a message and they would say that they're gonna get my message to the right department. But it took a long time before they actually ordered the part. By the time we got the part, it wasn't the right part. It was a lot of hassle going back and forth.
The technician had to spend lots of time working on the unit to install the part. He had to get a part from his truck because the part Liberty sent was not correct. By the time that he left, my icemaker wasn't working. He said he had to go to other appointments and I would have to call Liberty back about the icemaker.
I kept calling about the icemaker and I left a message. There was text, email, and phone calls, saying the icemaker is still not working, the repair is not complete, and they need to send somebody to complete the repair. But I didn't hear back. After one week, for some reason, the icemaker started to work. But nobody called me back to say if they should send the technician again to check it or not. They closed the ticket themselves too. I got a message that the ticket is closed. I wasn't happy with my previous warranty company and I sa Liberty had some good reviews. I called and signed up with them. But this was my first experience with Liberty and maybe it was a one-time deal that nothing worked out, but it wasn't a good experience.

Liberty Home Guard is like a scam company in my opinion. Every time there is a claim, there is always a charge, even though it’s covered by the warranty. Typically, the full cost is covered by the warranty company, if something breaks down. But with them, the cost has to be paid by the consumer. I don’t know why I have to cover for all the payment to the contractors. When I tried to cancel the policy, they said I would not receive any reimbursement. I don’t know if the policy is fully cancelled. It’s weird.
No one is gonna read all the fine print in the contract. Authorities need to look at this because I haven’t found any other warranty company with a contract like theirs. I have always had companies cover the claim completely, as long as that specific appliance is included. I’m gonna file a consumer report. The last technicians, though, did good work on my dishwasher

Repairs take longer because the technician who comes out has to evaluate first, even though we know what the problem is, and then he has to submit the report to Liberty, and Liberty has to okay it, and then he comes back. So if it's an appliance that we need to be working, it takes a while until we get that repaired. I have an ongoing refrigerator claim and it’s still not working well. Liberty Home Guard offered me $600 for the refrigerator, which isn’t sufficient, so I rejected it.
