I purchased a 2-door fridge with bottom freezer, ice maker, stainless, not cheap. I had the door seal replaced twice. It keeps tearing and it’s starting to rip again, light stayed on and melted the cover. I was told it was my fault; I left the door open. I had nothing to do with the door seal not closing. Finally, they said they will replace the unit. The fridge stopped working because of frost build up on the motor.

I have a 5-year extended warranty and it’s almost up. Not that it matters because the warranty company is about as good as the fridge. It’s always an issue. My wife wants to put this fridge in the garage as a beer fridge and buy a new side by side, no bottom freezer and no LG, preferably Kenmore or Frigidaire. I’ve had Kenmore, love them.

My parents have a side by side. It is at least 15 years old, just like new, not a single issue and they didn’t buy warranty. Now, that’s how it should work. It’s ironic that they told me these were uncommon issues, yet seems to be common to me. It’s frustrating just throwing hard earned money out the window. Why can’t they just make a good product and stand by it. I shouldn’t have to buy a warranty to guarantee your product.

I purchased a bottom refrigerator (model number LFC25760 sw) on February 2007. I have had non-stop problems ever since. Icemaker overflows, and the tech replaced the mechanism. But since, it is the same engineering, and it continues to do the same. The next tech who came advised it was an "engineering/manufacturing flaw." Most crisper/drawer rollers broke off on the first year. LG claimed these parts are not under warranty. Sensor for lights has burned out twice in less than a one-year period, causing plastic housing to melt down. "LIfe is not good" at LG!

The refrigerator section heated up, and some food was destroyed. We have had 5 house calls for appliance repair techs on this refrigerator. We were fortunate to purchase extended warranty through Home Depot that helped some but not for all the problems.

In June of 2007, my wife and I remodeled our home and purchased all new stainless LG appliances for our kitchen. We purchased all items from Home Depot in Keene NH which is 15 miles away. We opted out of the extended warranty. Even with all the problems we've had, I would say the warranties would have not helped us at all. The total cost for stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator was about $5000!

The first sign of problems was one year and 2 weeks after purchase when the microwave started beeping on its own, and then it got hot and fried itself. I am thankful that my wife was home to unplug it! A month later and many phone calls and faxes later, LG authorized the repair. The door w/ the control board was replaced and a melted top trim plate as well. The nearest authorized repair center was 50 miles away! It was a big hassle for them, too. Our dishwasher has malfunctioned since the first month and we just prefer to wash by hand and it is merely an ornament.

The $2500.00 double door w/bottom freezer refrigerator has been finicky from the start. I have notes from the same time as the microwave issue trying to have the ice machine looked at because it wouldn't make ice. A series of calls and some long resetting procedure over the phone temporarily solved the issue. As of late it has not made ice for 6 months. No big deal during winter, but now summer is here! The latest problem occurred about 3 weeks ago. My wife called me at work to say that the refrigerator smelled weird. I came home early to find the light lens melted and hanging melted to the trim ring. The unopened milk container had blown its sealed cap, while the other food were all very hot and starting to spoil.

My first reaction was dismay. My second reaction was panic! I burned 2 fingers trying to unscrew the bulbs! My next reaction was to make that call to LG once again. After finally getting someone on the line, I explained the issue very calmly and in a nice voice. The response was that they had never heard of any such issues. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to the highest level customer service representative. At this point, after repeating my story nicely once again, I was told that there had been issues however, our unit was out of warranty already.

I pressed the issue a little more forcefully and was told that I would be called back in a day or two after review. I did receive a call back and was told that LG would cover the repairs on the light issue only. Next came the hunt for a service facility that covers Vermont. There was none near us. After 2 weeks, the service department found one in Amherst, Ma., which is 40 minutes from my place.

The nice man from B and B appliances has called three times to let me know that he would come but needed to get LG to ship all parts to him first and needed to get authorization confirmation. He called yesterday to set up an appointment with me. He said that he got 4 or 5 boxes of parts for my issue. My conversation today w/ Sherry Pederson of LG informed me that my ice machine issue would not be fixed by them. I was told by her to file a complaint via mail.

The consequences are first and foremost, the misconception that the more the unit costs the better it is! We feel duped and we wasted hard earned money. The next biggest loss would be our very valuable time! Loss of time spent on chasing our tails around every corner to just get some help with these very unsafe products. Imagine digging around inside a huge dark refrigerator looking for bad food? What is next? We are waiting for the next shoe to drop!

Do not buy this expensive LG fridge. We have had several small problems like the icemaker clogging all the time to a loud intermittent noise, and now the fridge stopped working. The error points to the freezer fan, which has been replaced before. This fridge is a nightmare! We thought we were good because we got the home depot extended warranty. We already had the A&E service folks 3 times in our house. Today I call to say the fridge stopped working, and the earliest they can schedule a visit is 8 days!

Great, you buy a $2K - plus fridge, invest in the extended warranty, and when your fridge stops working (after 3 past service calls) they cannot accommodate an emergency visit. The rep from Home Depot, extremely rude, told me that buying the warranty does not guarantee timely service. I wish they disclosed that clearly when I bought their "warranty"! Anyway: two lessons that I want to share with all: do not buy an LG French door fridge, and do not buy the extended warranty from home depot.

We purchased an LG 3-door refrigerator back in Ca from Home Depot and also got the extended four-year warranty and have had nothing but trouble since. We moved to Idaho and the problems are worst than ever. We have had over 15 service calls in less than six months and the problem has never been resolved.

This LG product is a lemon from the beginning. Although Home Depot Corporate Offices in Atlanta have said that the LG refrigerator should be replaced, the Assurance Service people say no, it can be fixed. After replacing the main circuit board, one of the front panels where the water and ice dispenses, the ice maker, taking the freezer compartment apart, telling us not to put anything on the back wall of the refrigerator but leave a gap of about 1 to 2 inches, the problem of the freezer not freezing correctly and the refrigerator compartment being too cold, still the problem has not been fixed. The repair people of which we have had two companies say that they nor the LG technicians don't know how to fix this lemon. All but LG says this LG 3-door refrigerator needs to be replaced. Can anyone help with this?

I bought a LG refrigerator 2007;18 months later, it went out completely. I called LG and was told they would do nothing. After calling for one week, I finally got someone who would help. LG paid for the part but not the labor. 15 months later, it went out again. It was the control panel. I was told there is a small fuse in the control panel which went out but you have to replace the entire panel. The refrigerator has not been in our home 4 years and it has died twice. I would never buy or recommend any LG product to anyone. They do not have respect for the consumer when you call nor do they stand behind their products.

I originally bought our LG refrigerator about 4 years ago, model no. LRTC19314ST. The light (still the original bulb as when it was purchased), apparently did not turn off and got very hot. The plastic around the socket which holds the bulb melted and the socket fell out of its place. The bulb then proceeded to make the clear plastic cover melt also. We must still use this refrigerator, but removed the lightbulb (saved it if needed for future evidence) due to the obvious fire risk.

We bought an LG refrigerator (Model: LFX25960 ST) about 2 1/2 years ago. Everything seemed to be fine, until two weeks went by and our ice maker went out. This happened twice and in both times, the entire ice maker assembly had to be replaced. The most recent issue has made my husband and I extremely concerned. The interior light in the refrigerator stayed on and did not turn off, causing the entire assembly to burn and melt. Thankfully, we smelled the burning and were able to get in there with a hot pad to remove the light bulbs.

We called Best Buy and they sent a repair guy out from their Geek Squad as the 1 year manufacturer's warranty was up with LG. And we were now into the 5 year warranty that we bought from Best Buy. The guy came out a few days later, which shocked me considering that this had the potential to be a fire hazard. One would think that they would come out quickly in a situation such as this. When he came out, he replaced the light kit and told us that it had a thermostat in it to turn off if the lights ever stay on again.

Well, the next day, it starts staying on again and heating up the inside of the refrigerator. They sent the repair tech out again and for the second time, he replaced the circuit board as well as another light kit. So far, we haven't seen anything happen, but I have to say that I am still very concerned, especially since this is a known problem and a potential fire hazard. I think that LG needs to recall these refrigerators completely and replace them with an equivalent model. I shudder to think that this problem could potentially burn a house down. It is insane! It is hard to even leave home for any length of time without worrying about the refrigerator. Shame on LG for not backing up their product, especially at the costs of these units. They are definitely not cheap by any means.

About 6 years ago, I bought an LG French-door bottom-freezer refrigerator. It was my first brand-new appliance ever! How exciting. But after one year (yes, the warranty had run out), the light stayed on all night melting the light cover, which seemed to stem from the one door closing and popping open the other door just enough to trigger the light switch. My fault? We removed the melted light shield, but left the lights in place. We pushed hard on doors. Then we started getting freaky frost buildup in the freezer; and then melt, build up, melt.

The clean up after each cycle was daunting. I didn't call anyone. I bought it at Best Buy, and I didn't expect any support. Besides, my warranty had run out. I guess, I'll live with it. I just spent $1700.00 on this thing. And live with it, I did, until all of the sudden, 3 years later, it all got normal. I shut the door, the other one doesn't pop open that tiny smudge. No more melt, frost, melt, frost. No rhyme nor reason. So there is hope that in 4 years, you may grow to like going to your fridge, if you can stand to look at it.

I am on to my 2nd and 3rd new appliances, a washer and dryer. My boyfriend has made it clear they will not be LG. I agree. And I just got my 1st computer, so all these complaints are my 1st exposure to how many people have had the same problems with these refrigerators. I'll be honest. This experience has fractured my confidence in appliance purchase. I believe, unfortunately, that all manufacturers think of these things as disposable. It's not our fault. LG fridge owners just remember: Push hard on doors, push hard on doors.

The circuit board went out of LG Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Model # 795.7724 with first call for repair done on November 12, 2010. It is now January 15, 2011 and we are still waiting for a supposed backordered part for this refrigerator. This refrigerator is 3 years old and the circuit board is black and smells of smoke. It looks like it could have started a fire and we are still waiting for repair. Amanda ** at LG indicated on January 14th that we would get a new refrigerator and then when she called the appliance repair person we are working with, she miraculously located a part that has been backordered for 2 months. There are over 400 of this circuit board on backorder at this time, indicating that the newer refrigerators should be classified in the same class action suit from 2005.

I bought this refrigerator two years ago from Home Depot and it has had a knocking noise. I had two techs to check it out but they found nothing. The seals had to be replaced due to leaking and the doors get out of adjustment easily (I had to constantly readjust them). The vegetables freeze and the ice cubes melt together. Insulation is also poor in every compartment. I am ready to dump it off the end of the pickup at Home Depot and let them take it to the salvage yard. I paid $2,800 for it at the time. You can have it for $800--stainless double door French bottom freezer (Model: LMX25981ST). Check the website and you will see plenty of problems with the knocking noise. I will never in my entire life buy another LG product.

Today, December 26th 2010 at about 10pm, I finally realized what the awful burning smell in my LG LFC22760 Refrigerator was. If I didn't burn my hand on the light as I was removing milk, I would have not figured it out until the entire refrigerator burned out. The lights in the fridge would not turn off. They had not turned off for hours. It seemed as the temperature was 70 degrees. Everything in there was warm and the smell of burned hair was evident and the light bulbs were so hot that I actually burned myself.

After we finally got the light bulb casing off and took the light bulbs out, we noticed that the casing holding the bulbs were almost black! I checked online and saw hundreds of complaints about this same problem and obviously LG is not owning up to it. There should be a national recall on this appliance. If I hadn't noticed it sooner, I believe that my entire house would have burned down because we would have been asleep by the time the light bulbs did the most damage. We got very lucky.

I would really like to join the class action lawsuit in New Jersey because I can see that I am going to get nowhere with either LG or Sears, where we purchased the fridge. We now have to keep the light bulbs out of the fridge but it is so dark in there and this is no way to have to deal with it. This was a very expensive refrigerator and as soon as we bought it, we had issues including the ice tray track breaking and the clips that hold the doors shut breaking. There is nothing we can do about those things either it seems. Is there any way that we can become part of the class action lawsuit in New Jersey? We just want our money back so that we can buy another refrigerator and it will definitely not be an LG.

LG customer service told me to unplug the unit for 3-5 hours and then plug it back in. That failed and the rest of my food had to be thrown out. LG dispatched a service technician who discovered that the compressor was bad and all the oil had leaked into the pan. He recommended that it be replaced not repaired. LG customer service called saying a replacement was authorized and gave me the 800 number to call. That 800 number had no record of the replacement authorization. I called the customer service agent that called me but the number did not take in bound calls. The replacement unit would not be available for delivery for 2-3 weeks. I bought an LG french door refrigerator. There was no discount or bargains, nothing. I paid cash and it was delivered Oct 2008. This July (2010), I woke up to find most of my freezer foods were defrosted. I called the 1800 number to be given an authorized dealer's number who turned out to have been closed for two years. I called back again, another 20 minutes of push this, push that button call that got me yet another number of a company who said, "Sure, we will be there by noon."

At 11:35, I received a telephone call: "Sorry, we can't make it. We'll call you back when we know when we will be able to get there." Three hours later, there was still no call so I call. "Oh, we don't know when it might be sometime next week." So I call through yellow pages authorized LG service. The company tells me we have an appointment available two weeks from Friday.

I then call the LG 800 number again. They tell me, "sorry, even our commercial rep is backed up; the next appointment we have is in about 8 days". Okay, I say. I get a call two days later: "Sorry, our guy has a family emergency; it's going to be an additional week." Meanwhile, my husband and a local electrician take the back off after unplugging it, take a blow dryer and just start blowing cold air towards the motor. I replug it. Ii starts. The service rep came out the two weeks later. He never even touched the fridge and said, "Oh, the motor must have frozen. You did the right thing. Thanks, have a good day."

Well, now it's Dec 2010 and I wake up to the warm milk, runny yogurt and melted ice cream. I call LG who says, "Well, your warranty is expired and we don't have anyone for forty eight hours." I say, "Fine." I call my boss and change all appointments as "I won't in be in on Wed ,service repair is coming between 7 am and 1pm." I get call back from LG at 3:55 pm: "Sorry that appointment was already filled; we have between 9 am and 2 pm. I say okay. I get call on Tuesday: "Sorry, we are going to have to reschedule you for next Wed between 10 am and 4 pm." I am eating crow as they say because all my other appliances, ovens, cook top, dishwasher, microwave, warming drawer are all of another popular W brand but no, "I had to have this refrigerator; no other would do" and my husband wasn't thrilled about the price difference and/or the different brand. We purchased an LG Fridge, range, and dishwasher in Nov. 2008. A week before Thanksgiving this year, 2010 the fridge went dead. LG service told us to call Sears and a tech guy came out. He said the main board was dead and it would be about $400 to fix it since it was not under warranty, unless we purchased the $250 service contract then it would be covered. We purchased the agreement and they ordered the part. They told us it would be about 10 days for the part to get here.

We then contacted LG. After some convincing they gave us a number to give Sears, saying they would cover the work under warranty. We contacted Sears and they would not honor the warranty authorized by LG, saying they do not cover any warranty work on any LG appliance unless you bought it from Sears. And LG would have to reimburse me for what I paid Sears. We contacted LG to call Sears and they refused, now saying they would not cover any repairs. We gave LG the authorization they gave us and they said it was not going to be covered.

So after almost 2 weeks without a fridge, we still have to pay Sears to fix it. I know reviews like this will not discourage anyone from purchasing LG appliances. Everyone thinks the product will not break, as most fridges we have had last for years. But remember this, if you do buy something from LG, it will not be serviced. Even if it’s under warranty, no one will come out.

All food was spoiled, the light bulbs actually melted the refrigerator; it is all brown and melted. I had my Whirlpool refrigerator for 20 years and never had any problems. It seems LG doesn’t want to know anything. Terrible service, terrible product.

Life is not good! I bought my french door LG fridge about 3 years ago (model LFC21760/LFC25760). Six months or so ago, we had the problem of the interior lights not turning off. It melted the plastic light shield that covered the light bulbs. We had to throw away nearly all of the food on the top two shelves and door, including all of our melted butter! This just happened again last night, and again there goes a lot of money in groceries. I looked it up and saw that this is a common problem and that the company is aware of this. I am really angry! I also have had a problem with my LG Dryer. They are prone to a cracked weld in the drum of the dryer that is a well known problem.

LG is aware of this problem also and they are not doing anything about this either. I am so disappointed and angry. As far as I am concerned the retail outlets that carry their products should bear some of the responsibility and stop carrying LG products until LG takes accountability and fixes their problems! We paid about $1800.00 for this refrigerator that is less than four years old. We have thrown away at least $60 worth of food two times. We have 3 young children that are not allowed to open the fridge because we are too worried that they could be burned, or consume spoiled food unknowingly. This is also a constant worry as a fire hazard to our family and home.

We have a stainless steel, French door with freezer on the bottom and water dispenser in the door with electronic controls LG refrigerator. We have had about 4 minor problems starting in the first three months of ownership. We have now had it for 4 years and the freezer was thawing and refreezing the food. We had a very hard time finding someone that would even work on LG due to problems with obtaining parts. We came to find out that there are known problems with LG refrigerators and their compressors. They release debris into the refrigerant lines so clogging them and the only way to completely fix them is to replace the compressor assembly for about $800. We take very good care of our appliances, but this unit was falling apart.

LG does not stand behind their product. Once the year warranty is up, you are on your own. We paid $2,000 for this unit just 4 years ago. Rather than spending good money for bad, we have opted to cut our losses and buy a new refrigerator. We will never, ever, buy anything from LG electronics again. They were a good company with good products when they were Goldstar. Now, they should be ashamed of themselves, and so should the businesses that sell their products. We were told by sales people that LG made top of the line products and that they manufactured the majority of their own components so reliability and repairs would not be a problem.

We were told by many repair shops that they have had many of the same calls or problems with LG units. This is apparently a very common problem. The one repairman that would come to our house said he had 4 other calls with the same problem on other LGs and LG off-brands.

I am having issues with mine and LG is refusing to replace it and wants to depreciate it by 45% and send me a check for a factory defect that they know they have. LG knows it is a problem of the bottom of the fridge separating from the freezer section causing the air from the freezer to leak into the fridge and freeze the stuff in there and they have known it for a while. I started having issues with the fridge about a year ago but figured well maybe it was a blocked vent so that is why the produce was freezing. The temperature in the chiller trays have gone down as much as -5C when I put a fridge/freezer thermometer in there.

About 5 years ago, I purchased an LG refrigerator model LRFC22750TT. On October 18, 2010, we found that the interior lights did not go out causing the light diffuser to melt and the fixture to drop down. The temperature inside was very warm and most of the food was ruined. After removing the bulbs, I noticed that the wattage was too high, so I replaced them with 40 watt bulbs.

I was also able to mount the light fixture back to the ceiling along with the partially melted diffuser. When I put in the new bulbs, they went off when I shut the door, so I thought everything was okay. On 11/15/10, I noticed that the lights will not go out again, so I removed the bulbs.

Thinking I could buy a part and repair it myself, I started looking on the internet and found that a lot of people who own similar LG's are having the same problem. I have had other minor problems with this refrigerator but fixed it myself. Now that I know others are having the same problem and LG isn't doing anything about it I will replace it before it causes a fire.

My brother bought me a new refrigerator since mine was destroyed by hurricane Katrina. One month out of warranty, the refrigerator stopped working. LG said too bad repeatedly. I finally got a smart repairman who said there was a 3 cent. part that needed to be replaced. The old one was letting too much condensation build and it was causing something to ice up and shut the unit at least once a week. This cost me $400.00! I then noticed there was a crack at the bottom of the liner bed and then a plastic part from the door just fell on the floor. From what? I do not abuse my refrigerator. I read some product reviews and decided just to pray nothing else went wrong.

Of course, the ice maker constantly spilled out into the bottom of the freezer compartment, and over time, has just quit making any ice at all. I bought ice cube trays and I am just hoping nothing else goes wrong. The stainless steel finish wore off the top and bottom of the handles, which is pretty amazing since nobody touches it there!I I am still dealing with house repairs from Katrina and just hope it keeps working. I love the french door arrangement and I am scared to death every time I read another product review. I feel I'm lucky nothing else has gone wrong. Purchased an LG French Door Refrigerator Model LFX21960 in April 08. Exactly one year after purchase, the light housing in the refrigerator section burned out. A repairman came out and fixed the problem free of charge. A little over a year later, the same thing occurred. This time a burning odor alerted me to the problem. I searched the internet and found that this has occurred often in this and similar models. Unbelievable that the refrigerator is a fire hazard and LG did nothing to notify their customers of the potential problem.

While searching the net, I also discovered this model was stripped of its energy star rating. However, LG again failed to notify me of this information even though when I called to have the light housing repaired, they had all my information in their computer system. I had registered the product when I purchased it.

A repairman came out again (free of charge) and replaced the light housing. He informed me that the part that would make the refrigerator more energy efficient was a waste of time, so he did not install it. I believed him because I had read of complaints that after installation of this part refrigerators were not working properly. At the time, I scheduled this service LG informed they would sign me up for the reimbursement program in place in connection with the energy rating. Never happened.

I called them again today and they said they would send me a check for $38 that would cover energy costs from the date of purchase (4/08) to the end of this year (12/10). Then, they would reimburse me yearly between $3-$12 for the life of the product. In addition to the light problem, the deli bin drawer has been broken since the beginning. I have yet to have ice maker or freezer problems (I consider myself lucky!) that many have experienced but it would not surprise me. I researched this refrigerator before I purchased it. At that time, I only had a choice of 3 different models that were counter depth, french door and had the ice/water on the door. So wish I had chosen either of the other two. I would never buy another LG product again. Their customer service is terrible and their products expensive and inferior.

It constantly freezes up and the motor just grinds until you take the ice bin out. Then, all the ice goes all over your floor and makes a huge mess. The doors catch on each other and don't shut unless you push them shut. We also had a seal that ripped and had it replaced. We've had repairmen replace the seal, and they've come and looked at the ice maker, but the problem is the design--not that it needs repair. I have yet to contact LG and dread doing so after all I have read. My fridge is model LFX25960SB purchased in September 2007. So far I have been lucky, I guess. Complaints are ice cream never firm, although everything else freezes fine. This is with a fully-packed freezer, partially filled with a bag of ice! Occasionally items will freeze in the refrigerator. The ice dispenser flap doesn't shut on it's own after use, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. The door alarm feature has been working fine and was a feature I needed. The last couple of weeks, it goes off for no reason. All doors closed tightly, disp flap I close if not closed.

It was functioning for a couple of days but at 5:00 am this morning, I am awakened by my refrigerator door alarm! I had turn off the feature. Now the room temp. shows 81 degrees. It has not changed all day. It is, at the most, 73 in my kitchen today. The lights have been off and it's an overcast fall day.

In July, the white, hard plastic tubing running down the back of the fridge for the ice maker water split. No one can get to the back of our fridge. It's not been moved since installed 3 years ago. I finally found the part and had to order it thru Sears. It's not as easy to replace as one would think. We happen to have a plumber friend visiting us that week and it took him over 30 minutes. Apparently, very cheap plastic part to split (long ways) spontaneously like that.

We paid over $2000 for this fridge. I'm hoping these issues are the worst we endure but odds are against that. I will be contacting LG for the compensation for energy ratings errors and to have the computer panel replaced regarding the potential fire hazard issue. Maybe that will fix the door alarm malfunctions and the room temp. readings.

The third tech sent by LG said we had to empty the ice bin and rinse it out and let it dry overnight on our lanai every month (ridiculous for a new refrigerator). All three technicians work for LG so we feel that if they tell LG the truth, LG will not continue to use them. All we want is LG to swap the door with the ice maker with the newer ice dispenser which has a stainless steel auger instead of the plastic one. They have refused to help us any further.

In addition to the ice maker problems we brought to the technician's attention, the water filter device that measures when to change the filter was not working as well. We were told not to worry about it. We have scoured the owner's manual and there was nothing in it about lowering temperatures of freezer to prevent ice jams, or changing ice in bin and washing it out every month. It also didn't the panel on fridge which tells you when to change water filter was something not to worry about if it didn't work.

We only have a few months left on our warranty. We would like not to have to worry about this or deal with this further. We would like them to swap the door the ice maker is on with the current ice maker which has a stainless steel auger instead of the plastic one. If that is not possible, then we would like the refrigerator replaced with the more current ice maker and if they don't want to do that we would like our money back. Just over 1 year after we bought it, I came home and smelled hot electrical smell. I opened the refrigerator and the control unit at the top of the compartment had gotten so hot that it had melted where it fastened to the top of the refrigerator and had sagged down approximately 3/4". The electric smell was really bad with the door open, so I ran to the breaker panel and turned off the kitchen outlets.

I called Best Buy where I purchased the thing and they refused to do anything because I live more than 40 miles from the store (in the middle of nowhere). They gave me the number for LG. If you ever wanted an Alice in wonderland experience, just call the customer service number. We were misled, lied to, put off, etc, etc, etc. repeatedly. The first person would say something, the second person would say something else, the third person wasn't there but was expected back shortly (but never called back) and then the cycle would begin again.

You do not have enough minutes on your cell phone to get a straight answer out of these people! They finally referred me to two service companies. The first was 40 miles away and wouldn't come because LG is such a crummy bunch to deal with, and the second was only 5 miles away but said LG wanted them to 'become qualified' to work on LG products, whatever that means, so they were not willing to work on it either. I wrote to Consumer Reports about the safety hazard the melting control unit represented, but never heard from them (they probably get so many complaints about LG that they never have time to get back to anyone.

If the terrorists ever ** the US, I hope that they get LG's US headquarters first! I finally took out the melted glass covers over the light bulbs in the control unit, replaced the 60 watt bulbs with 35 watt ones, cleaned up the melted plastic between the control unit and the top of the refrigerator and screwed the control unit up with 1 1/4" sheet metal screws!

Since then the cross shelf above the crisper drawers has broken on one side (my wife taped that together with athletic tape), the bottom freezer drawer handle is coming loose on one side (don't know how I'm going to fix that) and the bottom freezer compartment started melting intermittently. I did figure that out. To get to the ice tray, you have to pull out a drawer.

The ** ice maker is made so that it overfills the tray which knocks ice cubes out into the back of the freezer when you pull out the cube drawer. You can either turn the cube off manually or keep an eye on the back of the freezer compartment all the time. A cube had fallen off the back of the cube tray and got caught between the tray and the back wall. This kept the cube drawer from closing completely, which in turn kept the freezer drawer from closing completely, which in turn allowed the temp inside to rise and melt the cubes (including the one between the cube drawer and the back wall), which in turn stuck on the back wall (which, as you can tell, causes an endless cycle of melting and freezing), which in turn ended when my wife reached in with a spatula and scraped the cube off the back wall so everything would shut right and let the freezer freeze properly! Now (another year and a half later) has started to make strange noises when it runs and when the cube empties.

i purchased an LG french door bottom freezer in July 2009. The freezer is getting a frost buildup and I have read that this is a common problem of which LG will not address. The unit is 3 months past the warranty period. Based on what I have read, there appears to be no recourse without exposing oneself to countless hours of frustration. I purchased a LG French Door Refrigerator while remodeling my kitchen 2 1/2 years ago at Home Depot in Clearwater Florida. We starting using our refrigerator in January of 2008. We had no problems with the unit until we received a letter in the mail alerting us they did not meet the energy efficiency that had originally been publicized with this product. I would be receiving a $40 check for the next 14 years to cover the overage cost of use. Then the government required LG to change all these types of refrigerators by replacing a circuit board. Another letter was sent telling us to call to set up our appointment for this part to be exchanged and we were put on a waiting list for several weeks (8 to 10 weeks?). We were assured that it would be covered under manufacturer warranty.

The part finally came in and they came out to install it. Within a few days, we noticed the ice production had dropped a lot and that our vegetables were either freezing in one area of the unit or going bad in another. I called LG to report the problem and they told me because I did not have an extended warranty they would be charging us for labor to send someone out.

After demanding to speak to a supervisor, several more phone calls and being left on hold for 20 - 40 minutes at a time, they agreed to come out at no charge to repair our refrigerator, only because I insisted they had caused this problem because of the circuit board change in this unit. They came out and changed many parts. I was told by the tech from Class Appliances (they were the service company LG sent out )that the change had caused the ice production to slow down and there was nothing that could be done about that, but they thought they could fix the food loss!

This did not take care of the problem. I continue to throw fruit, vegetables, fresh garlic and potatoes away because of the freezing issue or the food would dehydrate? After several more calls and again arguing with LG that they had caused the problem ,they agreed to come back out. They sent Class Appliances out on a few more occasions and then when I went to the executive supervisors, they sent out one of their own Tech from LG Electronics. He divulged that LG did not know how to fix this problem in a humid state like Florida. In fact, if I lived in a state like Minnesota I would probably not even be having a problem. He determined that my refrigerator needed to be replaced.

After going through a lot of paper work they required including peeling the label out of my original unit and mailing it to them before they would set up delivery, they also did not want the unit back! I would be responsible for getting rid of the unit I had.

Finally, they delivered the new unit to my house in late February 2010. The new unit has even worse ice production, we still have food loss, and the display on the front of the refrigerator doesn't work properly. There is a counter that tells you when to replace the filter. It is supposed to count down the months from 6 to 0 months to alert you when to change the filter. It has never worked, it's still on six months.

I called LG to let them know the problems we were experiencing again and they denied having any responsibility to fix the problem. I had been told when the new unit arrived that it would be under a new manufacturre warranty for 1 year. After speaking with several customer service reps, I finally got back to the supervisor office and they agreed to come out but I would have to pay the labor. Again, I insisted the refrigerator was under the original warranty and after many phone calls, I was able to get them to agree to come out at no charge.

They sent Class Appliance out and they replaced 3 circuit boards, which I'm told is all of them. I still have food loss and the ice production continues to be poor. The counter on the front panel still does not work. When I called them to report this again, they agreed as usual and after speaking with a supervisor to send Class Appilances back out. The same tech came out and checked the temperature; he told me there was nothing to fix and this was the way this product performs.

After hearing that I called LG and reported the tech's decision. I spoke with an Executive supervisor, Stan. He assured me that he would stay on my case an get it resolved and he would call me back by Monday. It was Friday afternoon when we talked. I did not receive a call from him until Wednesday during work hours so he left a message that the tech from Class could not find anything broken and therefore nothing more would be done. I then received a call from Class Appliances they would be sending another Tech out on Friday. After not getting a confirmation call Thursday as to what time they were coming, I called them Friday morning. I was told by the Service Supervisor that LG had decided no service call would be covered or needed. There was no phone call from LG or Class to tell me that.

I then called LG and spoke to the rudest supervisor that I have ever dealt with. I again requested a refund and was told this unit was not up for exchange or refund and the only thing they would do is send another Tech from LG. When he offered an appointment, it was during my work hours and they could not accommodate my day off next week. Therefore, I would have to call by the week in hopes of getting a Friday when I was off because they could only schedule 1 week out. This is unbelievable!

I have now called Home Depot which is where I purchased the 1st Unit. Their department Manager is supposed to contact me this week. I have decided that if Home Depot can not refund my money to purchase a new unit. I will call every news channel in my area to get some people on board to help stop this ridiculous consumer abuse. I have also emailed a class action attorney. This product is a piece of junk. LG has the worse customer service I have ever experienced, and I will not stop until this company has refunded my money. The consumers need to be protected from this type of problem and robbery.

I purchased a three-door LG refrigerator on May 1, 2007 for $2,300.00. On August 22, 2010, I went into the refrigerator for coffee creamer and found the interior of the fridge to be extremely hot. All the contents were ruined: the butter, cheese and the light fixture was melted. I contacted LG and I was asked several questions. I was told that they would take care of the problem. They sent a repairman to my house and after looking at the refrigerator, he stated that it could not be fixed because the damage was too severe. He called LG, reported this to their technical people and he was informed that they knew this refrigerator had an issue with a relay switch malfunctioning. And he told the repairman to order the parts which he did but when he came back, the parts did not fit. LG finally deemed the refrigerator unrepairable.

On September 13, 2010, Heather from LG called me and offered me $1300.00 for this refrigerator and I informed her that this would not be acceptable. I told her that they knew this was a problem and should have done a recall on the refrigerator and fixed the problem before it got to this point. Had they done that, this refrigerator should have lasted me another 20-25 years. The parts they could have replaced on a recall had a switch in it that would shut the refrigerator off if it reached a certain temperature and the bulbs were reduced from 60-watt bulb to a 40-watt bulb. LG is totally negligent and should be accountable for this negligence before anyone else has to go through this experience. Not only are they even offering me not enough to come close to replacing the refrigerator but I also lost about $300 to $400 worth of food that was destroyed by this incident. I have filed claims with the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General’s Office and my State Congressman.

They came and installed a new light. The front panel lights were flashing, I read the directions and unplugged the fridge. When I did, the ground plug melted and blew the socket. There's a new crack in the interior.

Best Buy has sent a fix for each problem. Being without a fridge and taking off work for repair, are not the complaint. Constant repair is unreasonable. Is there any help for consumers? My warranty is up next year.

The repair lasted just long enough for the warranty to expire. Now I have a 1 and a half year old $1800 refrigerator with an ice maker that doesn't work and they refuse to help me. My microwave recently stopped working and I scheduled a service appointment. The technician showed up at my house today, completely unprepared and unqualified.

He tore my microwave apart and then proceeded to yank on every part he could get his pliers on trying to bend it into working. He ended up causing more damage to the unit and then did not have the know-how to put it back together. Now I have a less than 1 year old microwave in pieces on my counter and they say they'll be back again in a week to try again. I have tried again and again to get someone in customer service to help me but they just keep passing me off to the next person and when I ask for a manager, they tell me they are all busy but they'll have one call me. Surprise surprise, no one calls. I know they are just trying to stall until my warranty runs out or hoping they can put me through enough grief that I will just give up. We purchased the LG 25 cu ft French Door refrigerator, Model #LFC25760SB in March of 2007. In September of 2010, opened the refrigerator door and the inside lights had not shut off. Yes the doors were shut and the bulbs were stock from the factory when purchased. The bulbs were so hot that they melted the casing for the Digital Sensor Control and caused the unit to "melt" away from the screws used to attached the control to the inside walls and drop down to the shelf rack. There was a burning smell which led me to find that the light bulb sockets had also burnt to a brown crispy appearance. The unit was obviously too hot to touch.

We even pushed the door light control buttons to shut off the lights so we could unscrew them but the lights would not shut off. I was finally able to unplug the digital control sensor wires to get the bulbs removed. Of course, warranty was expired. I called LG with no concern on their part since it had expired. I looked up the digital control sensor part number and it is no longer available. The part cannot be replaced. I was also concerned that the lights would not turn off even when manually pushing the off switch, normally activated by closing the doors. I have read other customer complaints with the same issue. We had bought the refrigerator at Best Buy and got the 3 year warranty, so we called them to have it fixed. They said okay. 2 days later, we had a technician out to fix it. He could not fix it. He said that there was a clogged suction line and that he would have to have someone else come and get the clog out.

After waiting and calling the repair people for 3 days, we called Best Buy back and started to complain to them about how long this was taking to get repaired. So, Best Buy put in paperwork to LG to have the refrigerator replaced, since we have been without a refrigerator for 6 days. He gave us a paper to fax in with the receipt so we could get our refrigerator replaced. We faxed in the paperwork 10 days ago.

We keep calling, trying to find out when our refrigerator is getting replaced. We get the royal runaround about how the system has not generated the paperwork yet. Thank God, I bought the expensive service agreement which has covered some of the expense.

However, the time it has taken to get them serviced is enormous. Then when repair technicians came, they didn't know how to handle LG and said that they have difficulty getting training or info from LG about repairing their products.

Everything is a battle. The moral of the story is do not purchase LG products. My stories of each appliance problem are long and arduous, so I'm not rambling on. I need to go spend time trying to find a replacement for my replacement knob for the stovetop (second time, same part). Wish me luck.

I've read some of the complaints and can't believe what I have in front of me. Two years ago I purchased an LG French Door Refrigerator LFX25960. I have the extended warranty. I will not purchase again after my experience and the others I've seen. In March of this year, the freezer stopped freezing. I had a service call and the whole control panel had to be replaced.

Then three months later we discovered our new two year old flooring was buckling in front of the refrigerator and we saw water damage downstairs, in our game room. We live on the water, so our main floor is actually the second floor. We had a service call and found that for months the fill tank to the water and ice maker failed and had been leaking. The service person from the Warranty Company stated and wrote the invoice up as factory defect. He said that he had seen this before with LG.

We called our Homeowner's Insurance and when the adjuster came out she stated that she has seen several claims just like ours. When I spoke to the flooring company to get a quote on replacing our floor, he stated that the same refrigerator did the same thing to his hard wood flooring. He said that he caught it sooner than we did and got so tired of dealing with LG that he did the repairs himself. I can't do that. We have a quote of $20K to repair our sub flooring and replace our floor. All our floors are the same and it is a great room, can't match the existing floor in color. Class action should be brought against LG, maybe then they might take care of their issues and maybe manufacture their products in the good old USA!

I purchased the LG French door bottom freezer in 2007. Within the first year, the deli bin and track were cracking and no longer sits straight. Recently, I also found small plastic chunks in the ice from the ice maker. Then this week, the whole control panel fell off the roof of the fridge and dangled by a wire. The plastic housing above it had started to melt and bubble. The light bulb sockets were burnt and the plastic shield around the panel melted. The metal plate above the bulbs was burning hot as if the lights had not been turned off for a long time.

The fridge was heating up and food was beginning to spoil. The butter had totally melted too. Because I was terrified of this being a possible fire hazard, I unplugged the fridge and am waiting servicing. Unbelievable, the fridge is only 3 years old. I had guests over in the midst of this finding and am very frustrated and embarrassed. I had thought LG was an excellent brand. Hmmm, now after researching I have different thoughts. I plan on contacting LG soon.

LG French Door Refrigerator with bottom freezer. This appliance is full of plastic parts that break. The tabs on the dome cover over the light bulbs broke when we replaced the bulbs and tried to put the cover back on. A technician told us that is a common problem. Then the plastic wheels on one crisper drawers broke off. Those were replaced. The freezer froze up and parts had to be replaced by a technician.

The ice cube maker quit working. A technician had to replace the bar that moves with the amount of ice that is made and shuts off the machine when there is too much ice. The bar became buried by the ice instead of moving with the ice so the machine kept producing ice. We were told that our refrigerator would be replaced due to the problems until we called for another problem. The plastic door on the front of one of the crispers broke off.

Now we find out that they won't replace the refrigerator, but each person you talk to gives you a different reason. We are not happy with the quality of this refrigerator nor the lack of customer service.

I called the appliance store where he purchased it in 2008 and he didn't buy an extended warranty.

After reading all the other posts that sound just like our problem, I am sure they are all defective. It sounds as though the temperature thing is bad. I don't hold the appliance store responsible and one should not have to buy an extended warranty for everything. Don't they make any quality products anymore? It was unplugged for 4 hours and still did not work. The message did not change. Abdul promised to call to see if it worked and he did not. I called back to see what to do next and was told that it was our problem and that we should call a repair person since the one year warranty had expired. LG can check their records and find that we called many times during the first year as well as since that time.

How can I let everyone know how bad LG refrigerators are? The government energy dept. has already caught them falsifying information on energy consumption and they had to send a repairman to put in some sort of adjustment that supposedly would help the energy use. Who knows what effect that adjustment had on the refrigerator? We have no ice capability and have had only sporadic ice for the entire life of the refrigerator. The expense of the repair has been shifted to us even though the refrigerator has been faulty from the beginning and LG knows this because we have called in for help many times. It almost seemed normal that we would have to take the ice bin out of the door, clean all the parts of the unit, cut power and return power to get it going again. LG is a lousy company and no one should buy their products. Can I get my phone records and have all of our phone calls to them verified?

Of course, instead of it "settling down" the gasket came off within a few months. The repair guys came in and changed the gasket and used electrical tape to tape it to the door. That lasted a year. Last week they changed it, but did not use electrical tape. The gaskets lasted 1 week. He came back today and put the electrical tape on and it came off within an hour.

We do not abuse these doors. We open one at a time, there are no little kids to play with them. This should not be happening. I offered to trade the refrigerator in for a different model and was told by LG that this model is not made anymore and we would lose 17% of the cost, but only if the doors could not be fixed. I said fine. Now they are saying because the tape can be used, they will not do it. I did not buy a refrigerator that I had to keep putting electrical tape on it every other day! This is ridiculous. The door fell sideways, the edge struck my left eyebrow. The door then fell onto the floor where it made a big gouge. Lots of blood, lots of broken glass, lots of fluids pooling on the floor, oils, soya sauce, maple syrup, etc. What a mess! Could have done with a stitch, but the toddler was returning in a few hours and couldn't have her running around on broken glass, so opted to clean up, wrap the broken glass, etc. etc. I am very glad the door fell on Grandma and not on a grandchild. It would have crushed the toddler, broken an arm or leg of the four-year old.

The top door hinge failed; gradually with use it bent upwards and eventually the top pin on the door slipped out of the pin hole. When my son came home, he was able to bend the hinge up in order to put the empty door back in place, and with a hammer he bent the hinge back enough to hold the door in place; too easily bent. They've saved money on cheapo hinges and a child could have died!

After only 6 months, the freezer door is oxidized and changing color. I live with my mom, so I take care of it and the color was getting worse. So I called LG today and they told me it was the cleaning product I was using. Well, I responded that I only use one product and it was recommended by LG. Now, she changed her tone and just said she talked to her supervisor and they cannot help us.

I'm at a loss on what to do. They told me that there are no known defects in stainless steel. They won’t even send someone to inspect it to see what is wrong. If we only have it for 6 months and have an extended warranty, what should we do? I am so confused that they won’t help us. My mother and I did not cause this. I used their recommended product and its only 6 months old. Why won’t they help us? After, I spoke to three different customer service reps, I asked for the supervisor and they said she would have to call me. I asked for her name and they said, "Christine." I said, “Christine? Christine what?” and they said, “She'll call you.” So I see I won’t be getting anywhere with this.

We purchased several LG products when we purchased our home a few years ago. These products were supposedly "top of the line, absolutely the best choice.” Hah! Every single product has not performed as advertised, has had continual problems and LG has been a nightmare to deal with. Each time we have attempted to work with them on an issue, they give us information that has nothing to do with the issue we are experiencing. Even when we work with an authorized service rep they fight with the service rep telling them information that has nothing to do with the problem, deny their problems and send incorrect information and parts.

We have the same washer mildew stank that everyone has been listing. As recommended, we use only HE detergent and very little of it because of the low amount of water the machine uses. We never use softener in the washing machine and we rarely use bleach because the bleach dispenser has never worked and always spots our clothes. All of their suggestions (mind you suggestions, not solutions because they never have any) don't work. We can't get to the gaskets they say to clean and we aren't paying someone a hefty sum to do something that should be customer serviceable let alone not happen in the first place. And with a toddler in the house and a baby on the way, we certainly are not going to leave the door open unless LG wants a lawsuit on their hands.

The dryer—well, can't say I understand how it can be energy efficient when it takes 3 days to dry anything. I can't imagine how that saves energy. The fridge--oh, well that is the icing on the cake. Our experience with the fridge will ensure that we will never purchase another LG product and will certainly tell all of our friends, acquaintances and anyone we see shopping for appliances that LG products are the worst on the market. So our fridge experience. Well, the bottom tray that holds the glass shelf above the crisper drawers cracked. We went through an LG authorized service rep to order the new piece. It showed up and fit in the fridge and the glass shelf fit in it. Great. No, not great. When we went to put the slider rails on the new plastic, they did not fit. The shape of the plastic that the rails attached to had been changed. The rails would not fit; therefore, the drawers would not fit. We contacted LG and they said we had to have a service call for this simple installation. This is ridiculous in and of itself. This part was not complicated (like a motor or water line) and should easily be customer serviceable. Even the authorized rep said the same. But, after fighting with LG for weeks, we finally have the service rep come out.

The service rep confirmed that the rails would not fit, took a bunch of photos and contacted LG engineering. LG engineering said that we both were wrong and they fit. We asked if they tested this because the rails clearly do not. After weeks of fighting with LG, the authorized rep, who was wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable contacted us with complete embarrassment and said there was nothing else he could do. He said LG engineering will not listen to him and they refuse to agree that the rails will not fit. He said there was an additional part but it was not orderable by him or by us. Not this is interesting, if no one can order it, what is its purpose? I suppose this is the magic piece that makes the rails fit in the test lab but allowing the service reps or consumer to order it would mean that we would have a working fridge again. And why would LG want that?

In conclusion, LG has denied every issue we have ever brought to them, had customer service read from scripts that have nothing to do with the problems we call in about and after giving useless suggestions (again mind you, they never have a solutions because they never agree their is a problem) they give you their final recommendation: purchase a new product. This is the most infuriating conclusion to it all. Since when do you replace durable goods every two to three years? Durable goods should last at least 10 or more years. I also might note that our current LG authorized service rep is not renewing their contract. They said LG has been nothing but a nightmare to work with and it is impacting their customer goodwill and satisfaction. In January they will no longer sell LG products, service them or sell LG parts. Our financial impact: multiple unnecessary service calls that have never fixed any of the problems, having to live with broken appliances, and, the worst, affecting our ability to sell our home without replace all the LG appliances.

The first two months, I had to call a technician out to fix a frost problem in the freezer, which the repairman fixed with a bottle cap. In July, I was in California when I got a call from my daughter that the refrigerator was not cooling or freezing and I had to call the dealer who sold it to get a repairman to fix it from California. I lost everything in the freezer which was under $100 because I was away.

I don't know what he did, but it worked for two months or so when I had trouble again. So, I called the repair service on my own. A month later, I got the bill for repairs because I didn't go through the proper channels. So I had to pay myself for the service. Okay, things went along fine for a while when the freezing problem started again, this time I got authorized to get repair and he can out and said that LG had a recall on the control panel, and that as soon as they can out with it, he would install it. He did in about six weeks come back and replace the unit.

Last summer I had the freeze problem again, but this time, I unplugged the refrigerator for six hours and it worked fine until last February when I noticed the door seals were cracking. By the way these were also replaced at the same time the control unit was replaced. I called and was told by my Maytag Dependability Plus that the warranty doesn’t cover door seals (lie). Now, 6/25, I wore up to a smell in house of burning rubber smell when I open the door of the refrigerator.

There was no light, but a strong smoke smell inside it. At first, I thought maybe the light burned out, but when I reach to take the cover off, the control panel was so hot that I could not handle it. I have had it with LG Refrigerators. I would not recommend their product to anyone. Their service stinks. The only thing it is good for is to go the junk yard as scrap iron. I have two freezer drawers and the bottom drawer never closes right, never did, and they never fixed it. It freezes and when I get ice, the door stays open. When the door is left open for just a small amount of time, the ice maker has problems dispensing ice. I've complained about all of these things. Now, my water dispenser doesn't dispense water. I called the company since its been a year and a half but they won't even work on any of these problems because it's out of warranty even though some of the problems happened during the warranty period. They even told me that they had no claims or calls, complaints, etc. from me on my fridge. Are they for real?

I wish I had checked into these before I purchased one. I just went on the fact that I wanted the water dispenser on the door like my old fridge which is another complaint. The water is never cold and because it's on the door, all it does is dispense water but it doesn't cool it. Well, it doesn't work now either. I have a fridge in my old house that I use as a rental and that fridge is still working. It's a 25-year-old fridge and it's still working.

When we first received it we noticed it was not cooling properly on the refrigerated side. We adjusted the temp. and waited 24 hours, the recommended time, and the temp. inside was still in the high 47-48 degrees. We kept doing this until we reached the maximum setting, which is 6 bars I believe. Still nothing! We also noticed that no air was flowing out of the vent when it was on.

After 3 weeks we called Best Buy and they were very understanding. They ordered a new one and picked up the old one free of charge. Well the second fridge "looked" good, no damages, no scratches, etc. My husband was checking it out and we were going to drain the first 2.5 gallons of water like the manual suggests to get rid of that plastic flavor. We noticed the floor underneath the fridge was all wet! We checked the water line on the exterior and it was fine. I opened the fridge part of the unit and my husband proceeded to keep draining the water and on the top right hand side right next to the filter inside, the water was gushing out wetting the entire interior of the unit. It was also dripping where you get water to drink.

We do not want to risk exchanging it for another so we are in the process of returning it. Sorry LG, but like they say not all that glitters is gold. I already had it on 3 and told him that was not acceptable and he needed to send out a repairman. The repairman shows up 2 weeks later and tells me there is a wire loose and my brand new fridge is just not defrosting, he then used a hair dryer to melt all the ice on the back panel.

It worked for 2 weeks and did the same thing again called LG again (this is twice that I lost freezer full of food) and he started asking me about time of purchase and if I had proof. I told him I could get proof (owned fridge for 2 months) he then hung up and I Assumed he would be sending someone and two weeks later nothing so I called back and he had noted on my account could not show proof grrrr. I cleared this up and a week later the same guy with his trusty hair dryer was back at my door. This time he said it was a mother board (or something) of course had to order the part and left to return 2 weeks later to fix this other part.

To date the ice on the back panel has never gone away, just over this weekend my freezer is not working again and of course it's out of warranty (I just loaded it with groceries). I guess I'll get out my trusty hair dryer and try to maintain it until I can afford to get it repaired. I do think LG should make all repairs irregardless of warranties if the problem is not isolated incident, and really work on their customer service. I will NEVER buy another LG product!

I bought a new LG fridge and in less than a week later the refrigerator portion went out. The freezer is fine. It took me several days to realize that the food was not cold enough and was spoiling. I bought a thermo to keep an eye on the temperature and as cold as I could get it was 55. I called LG and they said I could call a repairman and have it fixed. They could have someone out in the next 3-5 business days. Now 10 days later and the 2nd time that all my food has been spoiled, I still have this piece of garbage in my home. I have a repairman coming in the next few hours. LG's response is “sorry.” In the mean time I have no fridge for 2 weeks now and all my meals are carry out. I just hate to spend a $1,000 on a product and have it be defective in less than a week and have repairs made already.

I purchased an LG S/S Refrigerator in October of 2005. I had it for 3 months and the panel that controls the water and ice maker went out. The service technician showed up and stated that he had to order the part. He did, which took a month and a day. When he showed up to replace the part, he stated the part he had was incorrect and would have to order another part. I came to find out that he needed to replace the freezer door. We waited for a new door and it never showed up.

I called customer service and a technician came back out. Now, they are giving me a new refrigerator. That's nice, I thought. But what is the deal with the part? The new refrigerator shows up and life is somewhat good. I plugged it in and 10 minutes after they leave, the freezer door is leaking from the control panel. The tube that puts water in the ice tray is slightly too long.

Who the heck has had that problem? Are these designed by idiots? I shut down the water line. The technician comes back and discovers the problem. Life is almost good again.

6 months later, I noticed that the refrigerator temperature decides to change on its own. If you have the "beep" function on, it will beep all night. Wonderful! I figured that was just some sort of a one-time problem. The problem goes away but 6 months later, it is acting up again. This time the temperature fluctuates and the water/ice function locks up.

I contact Customer Service at LG. Like most people have found out, you need to purchase an extended warranty for a $2,000 refrigerator because they know they suck. Well, when I spend that much I expect quality. Is that wrong? I contacted customer service again, telling them that I had 3-4 service issues with this thing. Like we all know now, they will just say, "There is nothing we can do. Your warranty is up."

Well, it is 2010 and my control panel has a life of its own. I need to keep it on water and pull ice from the bucket. Heck, I consider myself lucky Some folks cannot even use theirs. I will never ever buy LG again.

Dealing with LG has been a nightmare. I will never purchase another LG product as long as I live. Unfortunately, I currently own a refrigerator, dishwasher and washer and dryer. Each appliance has required repair. I am not one to purchase warranties as whatever occurs will undoubtedly happen once the warranty expires.

My reason for complaint now is to follow the others in expressing how outrageously pathetic LG's refrigerators are. We first purchased the LG French Door Model LFX25960 in August of 2006. Our first problem occurred on January 1, 2007 when I discovered the New Year's Day dinner had cooked itself in my refrigerator. Needless to say, that day's plans were ruined. The lights remained on and were actually burnt and could have burned down my house if we were not home. Since this refrigerator was less than 6 months old, LG replaced this refrigerator in January of 2007

Here we are three years later and I have had to replace the door gaskets, cracked plastic shelves, and finally, now the same thing has happened with the light bulbs remaining on and almost causing a fire. Dealing with customer service is an absolute nightmare. I have had their recommended service techs to my home for the past repairs and will never do so again. They permanently marred my wood floor despite warnings. They were rude and of no assistance. A personal repair person suggested the gaskets will require replacing every year because the design of these French doors leaves no room for adjustment.

Now I have to live with a dark refrigerator knowing that they recently replaced gaskets and that the plastic shelf support will break again. I have no intention of paying for another repair. I have spent so much money repairing and replacing parts on this refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine and dryer that I actually feel violated. I will never sink another dime into their products. Buyer beware!

Just after a year, the bottom shelf cracked with minimal loading. I purchased an extended warranty, as recommended to me by the service man who replaced the gaskets. They replaced the shelf, and I swear, it cracked again within 3 months. Apparently, this is a poor design.

Since I had a warranty, I waited to replace it until it became too broken to ignore. However, my warranty has informed me that it no longer covers removable parts. As you can imagine, I was pretty upset as this part is over $200.00. So I called LG. What a waste of time. Then we turn it off to thaw it out and it still doesn't work. It has been repaired once already (after the warranty expired, of course). The latest incident was the light fixture melting because of the incorrect bulb size coming from the factory. This was a fire hazard and when I called it that, I had no trouble getting LG to pay for the repair and parts. They are clearly aware that they have a products liability problem with these units. I'm so fed up and frankly can't believe how matter of fact they are about a $2000 refrigerator that doesn't work properly. Basically, I get an, “Oh, well, you are no longer under warranty.” These units should have been recalled.

I'm contacting Underwriters Laboratories. This manufacturer should be replacing these appliances before a house burns down! About $200 including service call for ice maker one year ago. Currently broken again. $60 for service call on melted light fixture. LG paid for part and call to replace. I had to empty and unplug the unit at 2 am due to smell of plastic burning. I’m afraid of fire hazard. Several half days waiting for service, hours on the phone with all parties involved. No ice currently and several days with no refrigerator at all over the last week.

LG gave me 6 months extended warranty and they have sent several different repair services out, but nothing has been corrected. When I first bought the refrigerator, it was set in place. A few days later I wanted to pull it out and there was no way I could budge it. The walls had expanded! When I called LG they said that happens! What? The cabinet, which I bought at the same time from Home Depot so measurements were taken for correct installation, had to be re-fitted. Vegetables continue to freeze in the crisper; the new ice-maker (the original went bad and was replaced) has stopped working. Now LG tells me they lost the paperwork showing I purchased this unit. Needless to say I was speechless - for a moment - they said they could not do anything unless I could prove I bought the unit.

I said I will e-mail an attachment to you, which I did, together with a copy of their extended warranty. One of their reps called me the next day to say she has received the attachments, but they could not accept the "bill of lading" showing the unit had been delivered, as they wanted the receipt. I am now going through my files to find the receipt. I told the service rep that I would never give out my credit card number to a rep and she should call Home Depot and request the info. She did, and called me back; saying I can only get the copy of the original receipt by going to Home Depot in person, which I will do as soon as they call me back. I never thought I would be put through so much red tape over the purchase of a well advertised LG product. Needless to say I will never purchase anything made by that company. Contacted LG about our 4th repair on our 4-year old refrigerator. Talked to Stacy who informed us she was as high as we could go in the chain of command. No one is over her. Her decisions are final. Eight months or so ago we had to replace a motor because the freezer wouldn't defrost and finally quit. This time, the fridge about caught fire. Everything in the upper half of the fridge melted, even the plastic housing around the light bulbs. Yes, melted! Seems the fridge now needs a new control board, to the tune of $500, not to mention the $200 worth of food I'd just purchased.

We don't want this refrigerator repaired or even in our house any longer... too afraid of fire now. So, we spent another $2000 on a new (GE) refrigerator. Miss high-and-mighty Stacy refuses to talk to a superior (oh, that's right, she's the only decision maker) to see if there's anything they can do besides pay for the control board. Also, since we contacted Best Buy (where we purchased the refrigerator) for service and not LG, she wasn't willing to do much. And, seemed to rather enjoy her special powers of being a rhymes-with-witch! It would seem we got a lemon of a refrigerator, but now we'll never buy anything with the LG name on it. OK, I'm about to vent. In Feb. of '09, we purchased a new French door style, bottom freezer LG refrigerator from our local Home Depot. We thought we were doing a good thing, replacing our 35-year old Kenmore (which still worked) with a new energy efficient good-looking stainless steel model. I should state that we saw absolutely no energy savings with it, but it did look nice.

A couple of days ago, the whole refrigerator dropped dead, no lights, nothing. After checking that a circuit breaker hadn't blown, we looked at the manual, to no avail. I then called the LG customer service number, and after a considerable wait, spoke to one of the rudest service reps I have ever talked to, receiving no help except that I should call a repairman. The next day I called again and this time talked with a very nice lady who talked me through a couple of "coding" attempts to see if we could get the refrigerator to restart. This didn't work, but at least she was pleasant and tried.

Today, we had a very competent repairman out who diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, this fuse was stupidly made an integral part of the control board by LG, meaning you can't just plug in a new fuse, but have to replace the whole circuit board, which will cost about $400 with labor. To make matters worse, these circuit boards aren't even stocked anywhere in our area, not even in Portland or Seattle.

Apparently, we were lucky that there was one somewhere in the US they can get because sometimes one has to be ordered from Korea or China or wherever they are made. Still, it will be 4-5 days before they can get one in and repair our fridge, whereas with the mainline domestic models, there are parts readily available locally. Anyway, we are really bummed, both because of the shoddy design of the unit, and because nobody advised us of the difficulty of obtaining parts to quickly repair it.

We purchased what we were told was an energy efficient LG refrigerator. I have always had a small refrigerator so when we moved, we decided to buy a larger one - the kind I have always wanted. It has bottom freezer, french doors with ice and water dispenser in the door. We started having problems with it within the first 6 months. The ice dispenser did not work, the water dispenser tube leaked. We then found out it is not energy efficient. We had to have the insides of one whole door replaced.

Now the door that open and closes to dispense ice is loose and I have cold air gushing out all day long. I finally found a bottle that I could wedge in there to hole it shut until the repair guy can come out, 4 days from now. Each time the warranty runs out, we have been smart to buy the extended warranty. But after spending $1500 on a new appliance, we should not have to keep spending extreme amounts of money purchasing extended warranties. We are trying to file a "lemon" law against LG, but realistically knowing that probably won't happen. But to anyone who is thinking about buying anything made by LG, think again!

We bought an LG Model LFX25960ST Bottom Freezer Refrigerator on 7-27-06. We paid for delivery and a five-year extended warranty. The unit was installed in October 2006. The purchase price was $2099 (not including delivery, taxes, and the extended warranty). Within the first year, the refrigerator started freezing all liquids even though the thermostat was set well below 32 degrees. LG sent out a service man who replaced the thermostat. The unit performed okay. Within a year after that, the unit stopped cooling. Under the extended warranty, a service man came out and made a repair. The unit performed okay.

Six months later, we awoke to an odd smell in our kitchen. Opening the refrigerator door, we encountered smoke coming from the light fixture and that the plastic housing was melting. We called LG and a repair man came out and replaced the light fixture. He assured us that the new fixture had a new switch system and an additional safety feature to prevent such overheating and fire hazard. When I commented to the service man that the ice maker seemed to take a very long time to make ice, he called his office. They authorized him to install a new ice maker which he happened to have on the truck. The unit worked okay.

Six months later, the unit started making a loud, grating sound. LG sent out a service man. He found a 1/2" to 1" coating of ice had formed on the back inside wall of the freezer compartment which was blocking the fan. With the unit unplugged, that ice melted enough that he could peel off the ice. The fan then ran as normal. However, the service man expressed surprise that so much moisture had accumulated to freeze over the entire back wall. But he could find no cause. He suggested that it might be smart to replace that fan since it probably had run almost continuously due to the ice problem and thereby incurred unusual hours and wear and tear in the days preceding his visit. He stated that it would take approx 10 days to 2 weeks for delivery of the fan and that someone from his company would come back out to install the fan.

A few days later, we awoke to find a large puddle of water on the hardwood floor underneath the refrigerator. After being bounced back and forth between the HH Gregg, LG, and the independent service company for two hours. The service company agreed to send a man out the same afternoon. He arrived as promised and informed me that I might owe money for the previous visit, the current visit, the fan and the next visit to install the fan. He diagnosed that the water was coming from the ice maker which was not receiving cold air. This was causing the ice to melt. That water was running out on our floor. And, when the ice maker called for more water, it was also running out onto the floor. So he turned off the ice maker and left.

I am waiting today for a service visit from another LG/GE/Assurant service contractor in our area. He is to provide service on the water/ice-maker problem. After four failures and outages in three and a half years of use, we have requested a new unit from LG and HH Gregg. HH Gregg told us that their obligation is that they will accept a return within 14 days of purchase. And they said that under our extended warranty plan that they sold to us, we can continue to get the unit repaired until the warranty expires which will be in approx 14 months. HH Gregg does not provide the warranty even though they sell it. The actual warranty was issued by GE which has in turn sold the appliance warranty business to another company called Assurant. HH Gregg said it is up to Assurant to decide whether to continue to repair the current unit or to replace it. LG told me their warranty is for only one year and that our case is up to the warranty company.

I have explained to all parties that with four failures in three and a half years, this unit is a lemon or was less than first quality from day one. We want it replaced. Everyone in customer service at HH Gregg and LG provides scripted niceties but run away from accepting responsibility. HH Gregg told me that the warranty/insurance company has a "lemon" policy that says a unit "may" be considered a lemon if the same part fails and has to be replaced three times. We are on the second and possibly, after today, our third ice maker. The other three outages were due to other parts and problems failing. In 14 months, we will be out of our extended warranty. If the track record of failures continues, we will be sold with a $2100 refrigerator that has never worked properly for more than 12 continuous months at a time.

We no longer have a warranty and could easily fix the problem with a repair kit from Home Depot for about $10. However, the plastic tubing on an LG is not a standard size. Thankfully, I have not had any of the melting or light fixture damage, yet! I empathize with all who have LG products. We will never purchase one again! We will also support anyone who wants to file a class action lawsuit! To all consumers, don't buy LG!

(LFC23760ST, 904MRKU11677). We have had LG authorized representative for Central MA come to our house a total of 4 times so far and still this is not working. It was decided that the refrigerator would be replaced on 3-12-2010. Service call initiated on 2-13-2010. The first time that they came was to evaluate (2-17-2010). It was decided that the compressor would need to be replaced. A compressor was ordered from LG. Next visit was on 2-26-2010 and the compressor was replaced. We were told that we should have a cold refrigerator by the following day. The refrigerator was still not cool after a couple of days. After a few attempts at calling LG service representative, we finally got them to come back in on 3-4-2010. On 3-4-2010, it was decided that the replacement compressor was seized and would need replacing and one was ordered from LG. Why the compressor seized was not explained. On 3-12-2010, it was decided that there was more wrong than just the compressor and the refrigerator was unfixable and would need to be replaced. All required information was faxed into LG on 3-12-2010 and we were told it would be 3-5 days before we heard anything.

Here it is 3-25-2010 and I called LG and spoke to several people. One gentleman was very kind and informed me that he was definitely not the correct person and transferred me to someone else. After the initial script reading, I asked what went wrong and why I had not gotten a returned phone call; the person replied that there was nothing she could do and that speaking to a supervisor would not help matters. I spoke to this supervisor and she was not pleasant at all and informed me that they had just received the claim minutes before my call (keep in mind 13 days have passed since faxing it all in). She told me she will call me on 3-29-2010 to let me know when a replacement would be sent and I asked for a "ball-park" figure about when I will receive the replacement to which she replied that she has no authority to answer that until she reviews my case. At this point I was very angry and tried my luck with their Internet Relay Chat, but again getting nowhere.

This whole experience has disappointed my wife and I because our home is full of LG appliances, which worry us for the future. Knowing what the service has been like for the refrigerator, we are worried about service on our other appliances (range, dishwasher, clothes washer and clothes dryer). Altogether, we have spent in the area of $6000 with LG and would expect better service than we have gotten. I hope that they can reassure our confidence in their company and their products, but I doubt it very much. Six weeks without a fridge is a very long time and a lot of ice cubes for our coolers.

I purchased a new three door LG refrigerator in 2006. Since then, I have replaced the ice maker and the fan motor. The ice maker still doesn't work and the plastic interior is broken in many places.

The only thing that is worse than this refrigerator is the customer service. I have been told again and again just to get a repairman out to fix it, which I did. I ended up spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to repair a non-fixable situation.

I wrote to LG and asked if they would buy this product back or at a minimum, give me some sort of credit on a new one. I never received a reply. So I called again and was told I would need to get a repairman out to make sure it was not fixable. I called the number they gave me, and the repairman said it would be over $400 to get a part to make sure it was really not fixable.

At this point, since I had replaced almost everything that you could replace, I decided against this step (and I am grateful after reading your other complaints where they were still denied after this step) and I bought a wonderful Samsung three door. What a difference... no problems, everything is sturdy and was made well.

I would suggest that no one buys an LG ever, ever again. When I went into to buy the new refrigerator, even the sales person said she would have told me not to buy an LG. It has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars that as a 66 year old woman, I do not have.

LG Refrigerator LFX25960 - ice maker faulty and inside light will not go off. Seems to be a common problem with everyone who has bought this model, and now understand it was misrepresented to be energy star compliant and it is not.

I bought a refrigerator at Best Buy in December 2008. This refrigerator is an LG Electronics LBC2252oSW. On August 7, the refrigerator went down; it would not stay on. Service was done on August 10 three days later. On August 24, service was done again with part EBR41531303 PCB Main. On September 10, service was done again, this time part ABQ33905312 case assembly display.

Service was done again on September 24, and motor fan assembly was replaced. It was down again on March 18, 2010. Service man said this time that it has a short in the system and that it kept shorting out. He said he can repair it, but it will go down again. The problem was inside the refrigerator. It must be done at the factory. I have been waiting five days for the part. My wife is pregnant, and I have three children try eating without a refrigerator.

The refrigerator spontaneously stopped working at 5months after purchase. I called LG and a work order was created. The refrigerator spontaneously started working after 5 hrs. I called to notify service person that was scheduled to come out. I stated that there was nothing to check since it restarted on its own. 8 months later, it was the same occurrence, except the fridge did not start back. The service call diagnosed complete board failure in the fridge.

After several phone calls, on day 10 without the fridge, LG puts in order for replacement. It's day #18 and I'm still waiting and LG is stating that it will still take another 7-10 days for the fridge to be delivered. This is totally unacceptable. No one offered to replace the $300-400 food loss expense, eating out 2-3X's daily, not able to keep cool drinks in home even using ice cooler.

We lost about $100 the first occurrence, then $300-400 this occurrence because everything was destroyed. There were no offers at all to replace. I'm a very unsatisfied customer. And, to top things off, I had a 6 week infant in the home. I think this should have been handled more expeditiously and with some offering of temporary replacement until the permanent replacement was delivered. I will never ever purchase anything LG again! Life is not good with LG. They have made ours a living nightmare and it is again day #18 with 7-10 more days to go.
