I've been a HVAC repairman and installer since 1987 and have been servicing and Installing Lennox products for years. Love the product. Reliable, quality, durable furnaces and air conditioners. You can't go wrong with Lennox units

Within days of our warranty expiration (only 5 yrs from the date of installation), we realized our a.c. unit had failed. Turned out to be a leak in the coil. Of course, Lennox would not honor the warranty even though the a.c. unit was installed over a month after the coil and well within 5 yrs, and the leak had obviously been going on for some time prior to any warranty expiration. So... about $2800 later we have a new coil. The Lennox rep I spoke with on the phone acknowledged the reality that we would never buy another Lennox. He could've cared less about our dissatisfaction. I followed up with an email to the company requesting them to review the situation, to which I never even received the courtesy of a response.

My Lennox a/c has been a lemon since I purchased it about 8 years ago. I have spent almost 3000 dollars putting in parts under warranty. Compressor went after first year. Cools replaced twice. Fan motor replaced twice. And something else. Unit keeps clogging up with slime. I have reported to lennox more than once. Reply... So sorry. Do nothing. I sent copies of all problems and cost receipts. I wouldn't recommend buying a lennox. You can understand why!!! I gave a 1 star because there are no o stars.

We purchased a Lennox in 2019 who would have thought we would needs a new unit in 2025; Leaking Lennox is true to their name. Take a chance on anything beside Lennox and crook of salesmen too. The crook for the Lennox product wanted us the consumer to pay, 5k for a repair, when we could put another 5k and get a new in and out unit product for our house. Then when we tried to get the coil to have it replace by another company, the Lennox warehouse in Mobile kept telling us our unit was never registered but every time we spoked to the salesman who sold the unit to us, he kept saying it was and we need to speak to someone in the back. Now, this sound like some kind undercover, illegal paper work that was not process in the beginning. The found desk person have no record but the person in the back does. Stay away, and follow your instinct when you are dealing with people like that.

We have purchased two Lennox systems in the last 10 years. One for the upstairs (heat pump) and a furnace unit for the main and basement levels. We will NEVER purchase another Lennox unit again. The upstairs unit is being replaced this week with Carrier. Three years ago, the blower motor was replaced under warranty for the upstairs unit. The last AC checkup indicated that the TXV was operating out of range and now refrigerant is leaking from the copper evaporator coil. Total repair cost is estimated at about $5K. There was a class action suit against Lennox back in 2016, a few months before we purchased the upstairs unit. No notification from Lennox or anyone.
Who knew we had copper instead of aluminum evaporator coils that would rust and leak. Lennox knew they had issues. Lennox Customer Service also leaves much to be desired. There is no Supervisor or anyone else to talk with except the person who answered your call. We were out of warranty a few weeks and so we were told we were out of luck. The Lennox representative said even if your warranty expired the day before, we would be SOL. Never replaced a HVAC or heat pump until we purchased these Lennox systems so we are not sure if that is a typical industry response. However, why put up with such behavior?

The former owner bought this new furnace from Lennox in February 2020. Unfortunately, the owner sold it to me in September 2021 because he had to go to dementia care. The control panel went out in the furnace and because they said I’m the second owner I don’t have coverage for the 10 year warranty! Please go easy on yourself and don’t order any Lennox products. They don’t care about us consumers, evidently they only care about their commercial clientele.

I bought a new Lennox system in December 2018. I was told it would be more efficient than my old Trane system that was still functioning. Two months later, right in the middle of winter while I'm in the hospital, the unit won't work. It came with a defective part. Finally, after a full day with my condo at 40 F, it was finally working again. Now, six years later, the unit doesn't work again and the technicians are stumped. It is incredibly unreliable and overpriced.

This company will NOT disclose what an individual would pay for one of their units. It becomes impossible then to find out what the contractor has marked the unit up thus opening the homeowner up to possible price gouging by the install company. This practice should not be condoned. It should be up to the individual that ends up paying for the unit in the end to be able to calculate what the actual markup is so as not to get ripped off. This is especially important for the elderly, disabled, and anyone else that is not aware of average pricing within the industry. I can understand not selling direct to a homeowner but to not disclose pricing should be criminal in this day an age.

The Lennox unit came with the new build in 2022. On one of warmest days in October my unit stops working. After being on hold for more than an hour, I was forced to call an independent contractor. Once repaired I was informed that the motor stopped working because it was installed in 2019. How can that be in a 2022 new construction? Two options, either the unit was used or the part was used, either way it has not survived the 5 years it was promised. Now I am out of almost $500 and no one at the repair or warranty department will answer my call. My most recent attempt used 2 hours of my time on hold. If you are going to cheat someone at the very least entertain their complaints. In this economy, no one wants to spend unnecessary money. Piss poor.

We will never buy a Lennox A/C unit again. These systems come with only a 5-year warranty, and in our experience, they simply don’t last. We live in a five-year-old new build, and our builder, Darling Homes (Taylor **), installed Lennox units. Last year, the coils failed on the smaller unit and had to be repaired. This year, the same issue occurred with the larger unit—but now the parts are no longer under warranty. I even reached out to the CEO and received no response. Their Consumer Affairs department essentially told us, "too bad, sorry." Now, we’re stuck paying $6,900 out of pocket for a new system on a house that's only five years old. Extremely disappointed in both the product quality and customer service.

I have three Lennox Heating and AC systems in three of my homes and I am extremely unhappy with this company. They sell very expensive and substandard equipment that goes bad easily. They sell their equipment through a network of dealers. If you try to get service however through Lennox as a consumer, that service is non-existent. They will not honor their parts warranty directly to consumers and they will insist that you use one of their dealers. I had a few months ago two Lenox S40 thermostats go out when the power to the house was interrupted and reinstated. These thermostats cost well over $1500.00 each!!!! The just now, I have the blower fan motor go out on one of my units.
I called an AC company to verify the problem and indeed they agreed that it was the blower fan motor. They asked to be paid for four hours of labor at $220.00 per hour or $880.00 to replace the blower fan motor. I said NO because I felt that this was too much for a job that is no more than one hour to replace that motor. I called Lennox and asked them to supply me with the part that was under warranty and they REFUSED to do so. They kept telling me that I have to go through one of their dealers. In other words, they want to force me to go through one of these dealers while they do not cover the labor cost and have no control whatsoever of what these dealers charge, who charge more than brain surgeons at $220.00 an hour. It is insane. I called repeatedly their consumer consultant line but nobody answers that line. I was on hold twice for more than two hours each time. Totally Ridiculous.
BE WARNED. This company is a sham company because they take your good money and then they have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE when you have a problem, and you will have a problem because their equipment breaks down all the time. They sell overpriced equipment while they provide zero customer service and down right lie to consumers. Stay away from Lennox. There are much better AC brands like Trane, Carried, American Standard and so no.
I have two projects in two different houses right now that I am replacing again ac systems and I have received offers from two local Lennox dealers but I am completely excluding LENNOX at this point due to the discovery of complete lack of consumer service one their part. No more LENNOX for me because in my opinion this is a very bad company that takes the money from uninformed consumers and then turns around and provides ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE to these consumers. It is rather sad to witness American companies act in this manner and degenerate to the point of non-existent customer service.

We purchased this product after being assured it came with a ten-year warranty, provided we kept up with the recommended annual service. Unfortunately, when a problem arose and we reached out for assistance, we were surprised to learn that the coverage was not what had been represented at the time of sale. The response we received from customer service was extremely disappointing. The representative showed little compassion or understanding for our situation, and their tone came across as short, rude, and inconsiderate. Rather than helping us navigate a solution, they simply dismissed our concerns without explaining any next steps or offering meaningful guidance.
We felt unheard and unsupported throughout the process, which is the opposite of what you expect when investing in a product that is supposed to be backed by a decade of protection. Clear instructions or even a sense of willingness to help would have gone a long way, but none were provided. This experience has left us questioning the company’s commitment to its customers and the value of its warranty promises. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both their service approach and their clarity regarding warranty coverage.

I recently contacted Lennox customer support on the warranty on my air conditioner, model number 13ACXN024-230. After a few months of the base 5 year warranty, the compressor failed. It would appear that many folks have experienced similar problems with their units within or just outside the base warranty period as per reviews that I have seen. Apparently, Lennox provides an additional 5 year warranty, however, it has to be registered within 60 days the unit is installed or take ownership of the home if purchased from a builder. Unfortunately, the Builder/installer did not register the unit and I was not made aware of this and therefore couldn’t register the unit myself. It’s rather frustrating and disappointing that Lennox would not make any allowances to consider honouring the 10 year warranty, regardless the unit is registered or not. Frustrating and dissatisfied customer.

Hi. My name is Sam **. I purchased a Lennox central air conditioner 2 years ago. It worked good the first year. Second year it started to smell funny and it was noisy. I called the dealer that I bought it from. Told him it was in September so I said there's no sense coming now, I will call you In May next year and don't forget the first year it's only 4 months old. I used it the next year. Was the same so really I used it for eight months. 5 of those months it worked ok. When I called in May for the contractor to come check it they came, said it was the compressor and it's under warranty. This was a Saturday when they came out. I said so when are you going to replace it. They said it could be one or two days or three weeks. I said what that's not acceptable. They said it comes from lennox so after 4 weeks nothing. I called. The contractor said they were still waiting so I called lennox myself for the first time of at least 20 calls.
It has to be the worst run company I have ever dealt with. It's 2 months now. Still waiting for compressor. I kept asking lennox did my contractor order the compressor. They kept telling me they could not tell me 'cause I am not a contractor. I talked to 3 other lennox contractors who said dealing with lennox parts is a nightmare. The staff is mostly rude, do not care 'cause there's no one to answer to. I was on hold for more than hour several times only to be hung up on. I've invested many hours speaking to customer service to get no results and sweltering in this heat wave.
I asked many times to speak to a supervisor. The one agent said the supervisor is going to tell you the same thing I just told you and I said so what's the use of having a supervisor then? No response. The one agent finally put me through to a supervisor. Of course she didn't answer the phone. Her name was Maria. Left a voice mail. That was a month ago. What a total joke this company is. I will call the better business bureau of canada. This company should not be allowed to operate in canada in my opinion. I read the other reviews and I see that what's happening to me has happened to lots of other people. I would give this 0 stars but that wasn't an option.

Had a brand new Lennox system installed in our new house 2 1/2 years ago by their local dealer. Starting having problems with cooling 1 1/2 years in. Took dealer up till now to actually diagnose the problem. Pump has gone bad and condenser has gone bad. Lennox will not honor the 10 year warranty. Lennox will not supply parts at no cost to repair air conditioning system. Going to cost us over $10,000 to repair a system that is less than 3 years old. Lennox has had class action lawsuits on their equipment. Worst company and air conditioning you can put in your house.
Recommend find a dealer that doesn't use Lennox equipment. No point of having a warranty if the company fails to back it. I will be recommending to any contacts of mine to stay clear of Lennox. The industry I have worked in for many years always backs their warranty if one exist and backs it even if there are upgrades. Lennox apparently does not care about its customers.

A technician is coming on July 16, 2025, to diagnose the problem. I do not know the expenses I will be incurring. I should have reviewed the equipment online instead of relying on the Contractor. Lennox does NOT stand behind their product. A local contractor out of Palmetto Florida advised me I needed a replacement so we replaced a 6yr old Lennox with a new Lennox system (air handler, condenser, thermostat). The fan blade was replaced jn a week. The thermostat was next. After a hurricane our air conditioner stopped working & because it was only a year old I called the installer. He said the blower motor seized up “due to a power surge”. We have a whole house surge protector but we needed the house cool. So we paid $1800 for the part to be replaced.
I had our power company come out & inspect the surge protector. There was nothing wrong and we never had a power surge. The installer claims the motor was sent to Lennox. I have been trying to get someone from Lennox to research this & resolve the complaint since October 2924. All I get is emails saying someone from consumer complaints is working on it. We are on third coil replacement (costs over $1000 each time to replace) and third thermostat replacement (costs over $1000 each time) in 8 years of ownership of a top of the range system.
The warranty backup is a joke (see costs above), service is non existent. They deliberately make their system impossible to configure unless they are a Lennox dealer (who in my experience are generally as bad, expensive, unhelpful as Lennox) and as a result you are in a proprietary system that has high maintenance costs due to clearly defective issues about which Lennox is aware - look up their 'S30 and S40 thermostat wifi issues - known issues and the copper coils are a joke. We purchased the unit listed below after doing due diligence, only to find out that after one year, the unit screen had to be thoroughly cleaned because the A/C did not work. Now, after five years, a major component needs to be replaced, costing $3,000, with the part being covered by the warranty, which is 50% of the cost of the unit, with the installation cost at $1,900. The A/C unit with a condenser costs $4200.
The company said that the R-410A, as it replaced the R-22 because of environmental issues, was aspirational, but when I checked, it was $13.96 per lb or $349 a cylinder. This unit is acceptable as it needs to be replaced, but Lennox has discontinued it. I will never buy another product from this brand. The signal to be a consumer is that it has been discontinued. indicating that the series is not worth the company continuing. I purchased a new Lennox a little over a month ago. The AC cools pretty good and I have never seen it reach 75 degrees, if I put it on 75 I have only seen it reach 77. If it's 74 outside and the thermostat is on 79 the thermostat will still kick on and run for 5 minutes. If I put the thermostat on 74 it will not shut off at all but display is still reading 77. The compressor is really loud when it turns on at night and disturbs sleep. Reliant Technician's has been to the house at least two time each week since it has been installed. I have never made a purchase that I was dissatisfied with. My electric bill usually is about 300 month, it was 573 last month. My Husband is asking me to tell them to come take it out because it's not doing what it supposed to do. I have the ac on 78 it runs for 12 minutes and stay off 5 minutes. I’ve had my Lennox 2 ton unit for 7 years. In year 6 the coils blew out, and the refrigerant alone was $350.00 to replace, then another $2,300 for new coils and installation. They lasted 4 months. Blew out again!!!! and this time Lennox picked up the tab, which they should have since they use poorly manufactured cooper coils. 2 years later, same problem. The coils have leaks again, all coolant gone. It’s over 100 degrees here all summer. 106 last Saturday, 5/31. Lennox refuses to fix my unit. Says it’s too bad. Unit is 8 years old, will give a small discount on a new unit instead. Or another copper coil to be installed at $3,750, at my expense. Unacceptable!!!!
I’m glad my dealer/repair company had stopped selling Lennox units for this very reason. Poorly made, and bad customer service. Ridiculous, and poor warranty. I’ll have to purchase a Rheem or Bosch instead. They use modern aluminum coils that can withstand the high pressure of the refrigerant needed in modern HVAC units. So buyer beware of Lennox and units with Cooper coils. They don’t last.

I purchased an ECM Lennox heater 10 years ago (final install inspection: 4/2). The blower motor failed on 5/11—just 1 month and 9 days after the 10-year warranty expired. When I contacted Lennox customer support, I hoped they’d make an exception given how close it was to the warranty period, as a sign of standing behind their product. Instead, I was told no exceptions are made—period. To escalate the issue, I was transferred to another queue. After waiting 5 minutes, the call disconnected. I called back, waited another 5 minutes, and was disconnected again. No callback, no resolution, just wasted time.
This experience speaks volumes: Lennox doesn’t value customer loyalty or product longevity. For a premium brand, the refusal to offer even minimal goodwill—paired with abysmal service—is unacceptable. Combined with the suspicious timing of the failure (right after warranty expiration), it’s hard not to feel the product was engineered for planned obsolescence.
A 10-year warranty equals 3,650 days of promised coverage. My unit failed just 39 days past that—a mere 1% over the cutoff. Yet Lennox wouldn’t budge, treating it like a decade-old debt come due. I will no longer purchase Lennox products or recommend them to others. If you’re considering this brand, factor in their rigid policies and lack of post-warranty support. There are better options out there.

Subject: Severe Product Defect & Lack of Support from Lennox – CBX25UH Coil Failure. In December 2024, I purchased a home built in 2017. When I first used the air conditioning system in April 2025, I discovered that although the unit was running, it was only blowing hot air. A licensed HVAC technician inspected the system and found a massive coil failure — specifically, a large hole in the coil — making the system inoperable. What’s more concerning is the technician’s observation that the extent of corrosion was far beyond normal wear and tear and consistent with premature and severe deterioration. This strongly suggests a manufacturing defect or substandard materials.
I was shocked to learn that the unit had just recently fallen outside of its 5-year warranty. Despite the narrow timing, the severity of the failure on what is marketed as a premium, “built-to-last” system indicates a much deeper issue than simple aging. The cost to attempt repair was quoted at $6,000, but ultimately, I was left with no choice but to replace the entire system — at a cost of $15,000. This is an unacceptable outcome for a system that should still be well within its expected service life.
I reached out to Lennox to explain the situation and received a generic response reiterating that the warranty had expired — with no further interest in the condition of the failed unit or its potentially defective components. I followed up twice with additional evidence, including photos of the corroded coil, but received no response. This experience has been extremely disappointing. Lennox promotes its products as reliable and high-quality, but in my case, that promise has not held up. I urge potential customers to beware: Lennox does not stand behind its products when they fail prematurely, even under unusual and severe circumstances.

Being an elderly person I had to have constant repairs on my old unit which cost too much money. The decision was made to purchase Lennox top of the line Air Conditioner unit in hopes I would not have any issues for at least 10 years. Here it is less than 5 years and already having issues with their top of the line AC unit. The picture showing the leaky coil will cost me 2K to fix. It is a problem that Lennox has not fixed since there have been reports. Homeowners are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on Lennox air conditioner troubleshooting, plus multiple repairs and replacements of the Lennox coil.
The cause of such issues was said to be formicary corrosion as a result of the thin uncoated copper tubing inside the systems rather than using aluminum. The pinhole caused by the corrosion then leads to leaks, damage, and system malfunctions. The Lennox Consumer Support line was a joke. Contacted the Lennox company, which was no help at ALL. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING A LENNOX PRODUCT.

This is a lemon and needs to be replaced with a unit that isn't going to be a constant headache. Where are these cheap garbage units manufactured anyway? China or some Russian-controlled country?...

Bought a home with 2 Lennox furnaces installed 7/8/19. Bought, worked fine and turned off in March of 24. Hit summer here so just put back on yesterday 9/9/24 to find out 1 had an issue and company wanted 1556 to repair. After on hold with Lennox over 1 hr. (No exaggeration) the rep continues to tell me too bad out of the 5 year warranty. Who would have put their heat on in 90 degree weather to see if furnace worked and who would have expected a Lenox furnace to go out in 5 years after hearing their claims of how great they are. After the rep continuously telling me he would not help I asked to talk to his supervisor. Instead he gave me another # to call. After another 1/2 hr I gave up realizing Lennox actually has no customer service and little care of making exceptions. Very dissatisfied and will make sure all those in my sphere will know better than buy a Lennox.

Lots of people push Lennox as one of the best and most reliable brands on the market. They are all liars. I bought two of Lennox’s top-of-the-line residential units. While they work for a little while, when they go out, Dealers/Installers cannot get the parts to fix them. I have been without air conditioning for three weeks, because of a failed condenser unit cooling fan motor. My installer cannot get a replacement motor. Don’t know when it will arrive. Do your research. Go to Better Business Bureau. Look up Lennox. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Find a Manufacturer who has good support after the sale.

We built our home, and after discussing with the builder and the HVAC contractor, we decided to install 7 air handler/heat pumps and 1 mini split from Lennox. The mini split has been a problem from day one. Every year we have had an issue with it. It again stopped working this year, and leaked all over the wall. The HVAC company came out and showed me that the coil was rotten. How can a coil rot out in three years? Apparently all Lennox mini splits are made in China and they are know to have issues like this.
Lennox did agree to replace the coil under warranty but will not cover labor, parts, supplies, etc. So on a 3 year old unit, I am spending almost $3000 to have it repaired. I called Lennox myself and explained the situation including that we spent almost $100,000 in Lennox units when we built our house 3 years ago. They could have cared less. Flat refused to help with anything except the replacement part. By the way it took over a month to get the part. Thank goodness it was only a mini split for a mechanical room as we live in AZ. I will never buy Lennox again.

Our air conditioner was only 3 years old. The blower motor went out and Lennox informed our repair company that the warrantied motor was out of stock. I called Lennox directly and was also told the motor was backordered. It could be up to 4 weeks or more before the part could be produced. I explained we live in Arizona. Our house is at 92 degrees. We can't possibly live here for 4 weeks or more. We are retired and it is ridiculous we have to even pay $700 in labor for a broken motor on A/C unit that is only 3 yrs old. Then for Lennox to not keep a warrantied part in stock is outrageous. I was informed there was nothing they would do for us.

You can not use any other smart thermostat. Lennox has made their system uncompilable to force you to use their products. I did have my HVAC technician replace one unit with a Sensi thermostat but I did lose some of the functionality. Meanwhile the house I grew up in still rocking the original thermostat 40 years later. When these units fail I will replace with anything other than lennox.

### Lennox Air Conditioner Review. My experience with Lennox air conditioners has been nothing short of a nightmare. First, my blower fan and circuit board failed, which should have been a simple fix. However, despite these parts being under warranty, they were on backorder, leaving me to endure 100-degree temperatures for a grueling 10 days. This kind of service delay is utterly unacceptable and shows a blatant disregard for customer comfort and safety.
Adding insult to injury, I was hit with a staggering $1500 in labor costs, which Lennox conveniently does not cover under their so-called "warranty." The ordeal didn’t end there. After finally receiving and installing the long-awaited parts, the air conditioner still doesn’t function correctly. The thermostat now has a mind of its own, randomly turning on and off, making it impossible to maintain any semblance of a stable temperature in my home. Lennox has proven to be unreliable, inefficient, and completely indifferent to the plight of their customers. Their lack of timely support and the exorbitant labor costs are outrageous. I wouldn’t recommend Lennox to my worst enemy. Stay far away from this brand if you value your sanity and comfort.

I purchased a Lennox 2-ton gas-pack unit on 28 May 2015. It was recommended by a local Service expert company. The unit replaced a 12-year-old 3-ton unit of a different manufacture. Which, replaced a 17-year-old 3-ton unit of the same manufacture. I was told my ductwork was too small for a 3-ton unit at a 1200 sq ft home. The new Lennox unit never kept up in cooling. 91 degrees outside temperature at noon and thermostat set 77, the unit would shut off while still receiving the signal from the thermostat. After any where’s between 10 to 20 minutes, it starts up then cuts back off. House temp climbs up to 89 degrees+ Humidity rises also. Symptoms persist during night time temperatures in the 70's. There's no particular time when it will continue to cycle like that.
After many service calls and part swapping which included thermostat, Main control board. After 16 months of countless service call, the unit was replaced with a new 3-ton unit since I hardly had any issues for 29 years of cooling my home. At no cost. The new unit was installed on 22 Aug 2016. Since then, I’ve experienced the same issues. The newer unit has had pretty much every component replaced. It was determined that my issue was the return being too small. They cut a new hole in my hard wood floor to install another return. Now, I have a 16 X 20 and a 14 X 20 return. Made no difference at all. I'm at my wit's end and I’ve decided to live with it and run until failure. I will Seek another A/C unit of the same manufacture I had prior to Lennex. I would not recommend a Lennox A/C.

Even changing to the replacement from Lennox required specialized wiring...and no guarantee that they'd do the same thing later. So my Lennox dealer suggested he do rewiring and use a real controller (Ecobee). I'd lose some of the energy efficiency but I would rest assured that obsolescence would not happen again (and the controller and work was less than $500 - 1/3 of the cost to upgrade to another junk Lennox controller). It works great and actually kept my house warmer (albeit maybe not as energy efficient).
I'm very happy with this solution and using a real provider of the controller (vs. the junk Lennox made) is giving peace of mind I won't wake up again and have no control of the HVAC (which happened twice with the 10F81 screen going blank - a common issue if you look on YouTube and such). Now I am getting codes, my furnace turns off for an hour or so every 2 hours to cool down. Repair men have been out 6 times in a month. I was getting emails to tell me when the furnace was having an error code but it decided to stop sending these. I called Lennox, was escalated to tier 2 for IT. On hold for over an hour. Dominic spoke with IT and supposedly they would call me when they knew what the problem was. I asked to speak with a manager that was there, (he said there was someone) and was transferred to Maria. And instantly got voicemail. So shockingly 24 hours later and have not heard back from either the IT dept. or Maria. Yet again they are trying to fix my furnace today. Very poor customer service and it seems that they have built in obsolescence into their products just past the warranty period.

Purchased a ML195DF Furnace. After 6 years the blower motor would get hot causing it to stop while running. This in turn would cause a minor explosions making loud banging noises. The Furnace turns out has a 5 year warranty for the Merit series. The cost to replace the small motor assembly is about 1300.00 plus 300.00 to 400.00 labor. Not only does it seem to be a safety issue and not stand by it, they charge an enormously inflated price for a small motor. I would not recommend purchasing a Lennox unit based on my experience.

Contacted Lennox numerous times and went days and sometimes a week or more with no response or help during August which is extremely hot. They tried to put it back on me numerous times saying I did not provide maintenance receipts. I do all my maintenance which is within my right and I do it every 6 months. This issue is not a maintenance item. You would expect to disassemble an outside AC unit to inspect wiring routing. I don’t ever recall seeing that in automotive repair manuals to disassemble a car to inspect the wiring. I have been in the Aviation and Automotive maintenance business for 30 years. I had an 11 year old Carrier system that was installed and maintained by a local company called Del-Air. After having two sequential service calls to replace the blower motor, the HVAC company heavily promoted replacing it with a Lennox system. I spent $10K on the new system which was supposed to be ultra efficient. The installation went badly and the system would not pass inspection. After roughly a dozen attempts to repair it and no follow-up from the HVAC company, I finally engaged Lennox itself as I was concerned with the physical damage they had done to my air handler as well as modifications that were counter-indicated by the installation guide. Lennox refuses to stand behind their product or dealer. They won't even provide a tube of touch-up paint to address some of the damage to the air handler that their dealer did, so now my $10K system is left to rot in my humid, Florida garage.
Condensation drips off the plenum and pools on top of the (unsealed) air handler, just above the electronics compartment. This system is doomed to fail early as a result. As a consumer, I can't even buy service parts and products. If you are considering an HVAC system, you would be well-advised to avoid Lennox. Even some cursory searches online will demonstrate that Lennox is amongst the worst manufacturers in the industry. Their BBB rating is abysmal.

The labor for repairs plus a new thermostat was nearly 3K. I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase anything Lennox brand. Neither the thermostat nor the fan motor had any cheaper after market options as Lennox equipment is proprietary. A week ago I woke up to a 411 error code on thermostat and could not clear it. The unit outside showed code 1 and 4. Called the installer to come out and told them error codes. I was told a $95 labor fee (labor not covered under warranty). Tech got here asked what codes and told us probably a freon leak. Would have to run a dye through system to find where leaking. That test not covered. $600 cost just to test. I was livid.
Called their office and waited for service manager to call. Told tech to leave because that fee was ridiculous. Manager called and reexplained along with saying copper coils are thinly made and a constant problem. Lennox needs to correct this issue that was a settled class action suit in 2015 and while waiting for him to call back found another class action suit for same thing for 2023. Up until about 4 weeks ago the system had been running beautifully (had it four years). It suddenly couldn't keep up with the heat. The findings: the coil is leaking. It lost 5lbs + of refrigerant. Guess what? The warranty for parts is 10 years but doesn't cover labor and refrigerant replacement. After spending $3700 to find and refill the refrigerant -- I could have bought a brand new unit -- a Goodman, Trane or any other name brand for much less money.
What I learned from this is don't buy the big name and definitely don't bother with Costco's Lennox. I had to replace my other HVAC system a year later (two story house) and I am so glad I went with a different contractor and different product. That system cost me roughly $6500 and it is still going strong but at least if its coil goes out -- I didn't spend an additional $5k for nothing.

Updated on 02/18/2024: This is a follow-up to my first review. Mid-January 2024 I noticed that snow had gathered on the fan blades of the outside unit of the heat pump which indicated to me that the unit wasn't operating. I sent an email to Ronk Brothers advising them of this and they sent out a tech. He found that the part that had been installed on 5/11/2023 had not only failed internally but had split a soldered joint and the freon had escaped. Thanks to this my recent electric bill was abnormally high as was the energy usage. I'll have to wait till I get my next electric bill to calculate the grand total of the financial hit I’ve incurred due to this failure. Then I will contact Lennox regarding compensation. Thankfully there was no charge for this repair.
Original Review: On 8/4/2020 a 2-ton Lennox Merit series single stage Heat Pump model number ML14XP1-024 was installed in my home by Ronk Brothers Heating and Cooling at a cost to me after rebate of $9359.23. On 4/19/2023 I happened to walk past the outside unit as it began to run and I noticed a strange noise coming from it. I called Ronk Brothers and they sent out a tech on 4/21/2023 at a cost to me of $270.41. He diagnosed that the unit wasn’t operating as a heat pump and my house was only being heated by the emergency heat strip. The faulty part was ordered and the tech and his service manager came to complete the install. Unfortunately the problem had been misdiagnosed and a different part was required.
The correct part (thermal expansion device) was ordered and it was installed on 5/11/2023. As of today, 7/12/2023 the unit appears to be operating as intended. I’m upset that the part that makes the device a heat pump failed after only 30 months of operation. I appreciate the fact that the faulty part is covered by warranty BUT I’m very unhappy that I’ve been stuck with a bill for labor of $1837.29. Not only that but by comparing my electric bills I could tell that the unit failed in late January causing a $284.27 increase in my Feb-Apr billing over last year during the same three months.
I can’t believe that in this day and age when appliances are often smart enough to notify their owners of a problem, that the pricy device might still be malfunctioning had it not been for my fortuitous walk past. Why isn’t a message sent to the thermostat when something critical fails? All totaled I’m out of pocket $2391.97 for a 30 month old unit. That's 26% of the cost of a new heat pump. I think that Lennox should bear some of this expense considering the unit was only 30 months old at the time of this critical part failure.

I replaced a Trane air conditioner that had given us no problems for 21 years with the new Lennox AC unit. After 4.2 years of service we had to add 2 lb of refrigerant due to what I was told was a small leak. We went to turn on the AC for the first time this season and got no cooling whatsoever. A technician came out and said we need an entirely new evaporator coil since it was leaking oil and showed signs of corrosion. After doing some research I saw that Lennox had a class action suit against them for this issue.
Of course, I am out of luck because the class action suit has been settled. Unfortunately, Lennox apparently hasn't improved the quality or expanded their warranty for evaporator coils. I am very angry after having contacted Lennox to see if they would help reimburse me for costs I don't think I should have to pay for. They said sorry. The coil part is covered under a 10-year warranty because I bought it through Costco. The estimate I received was over $2,500 for labor and refrigerant only. In 2017 I had a Lennox system installed in my house. I used a company called ACE in Fairfax, VA. The specifics on the a/c system are here: Installed 11/30/2017. Starting in 2022, I began to have the same problem with the leaky coil that caused the class action suit that settled in 2015. My coil began springing leaks. They came out, fixed it and I paid a total of $1336.35 because all the refrigerant had to be replaced. The system at that time was 5 years old. In September there was a bad capacitor and a bill for $300+. On June 4th, I had to call a/c repair and guess what? The coil was leaking again. Before the company did any work, I spent a lot of time and online and saw there had been a class action suit involving Lennox for the exact same problem that was settled in 2015. It did not cover people buying systems after 2017, so I was not covered. Apparently settling the lawsuit in which the defective coils featured prominently was not sufficient for Lennox to fix the problem. They were still up to the same old tricks.
After considering what I would be charged for another leaky coil repair and trying to contact Lennox (on hold for almost an hour), I ordered an entire new system; it will not be Lennox. Lennox provides, by the way, no email address to email them or I would have used it. They obviously make it impossible to easily contact them--certainly the sign of a bad/dishonest company. In the circumstances, I realized that my only long term alternative was a new system. Grr!
While companies say their systems are "under warranty", they do not cover labor--just parts (which are a small part of the eventual repair). The warranty, which was supposed to be for 10 years for parts, really wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. I asked the company that sold me the Lennox system to handle it and basically they told me it was my problem. They just wanted a repeat customer repair at another $1300. Reading through a lot of complaints and some material from the class action suit, it is apparent that to make the systems cheaper, Lennox was using insufficient material in its coils. If you are installing a heat pump system on your house, whatever you do, do not buy a Lennox. Cheaper is not always better. In fact, after this experience I wouldn't buy anything from them. Then I phoned one of the attorneys who handled a plaintiff in the class action lawsuit and asked her if she would like to do it again. I await her call.

Unfortunately, I can not say anything good about the Lennox Heat Pump and Lennox Air Handler, purchased through Costco in 2016. The first system failed after 1 year, the second one "upgraded system failed after 41/2 years. Important internal part-reversing valve-developed a leak, which drained the refrigerant. Our Heat Pump became totaly useless.
Contacted Costco/Lennox got absolutely nowhere with them, to find out who would pay for the repair. Lennox has a 10 year warranty on parts, but to replace the reversing valve would cost around $1,500 in labor. We paid originally $6000.00 and now, still in the warranty period we're stuck with additional, huge expense. So, my advice, stay away from the "Lennox" brand. The reversing valve failure points to a poor assembly, soldering job of the valve tubes and obviously poor quality control. Yet, Lennox/Costco would do absolutely nothing to compensate us for this costly repair still half way in to the Heat Pump's warranty. No preventive maintenance would have prevented this poor quality failure!

We replaced our old Coleman heat pump with this absolute junk from Lennox in 2018. Our Coleman was trouble free for 18 years! The Lennox, at two weeks in, we had every tech from the installer at our place, plus a special visit from some Lennox person himself. Since then, we've had to have it worked on pretty much at every change of season as it does like today - 80 degrees out, it has failed to cool at all. Not like it is an extreme, but to Lennox, if it isn't 50 degrees out, do not expect cooling or heating. I could do better with a block of ice and a fan. It has gotten ludicrous, the number of times the installers have come out. They don't even charge us half the time, they are so embarrassed about all the issues we've had.
After only five years of use, I'm calling Monday to get bids to replace with any other brand, even though we spent a substantial amount of money on this junk, but I'd rather kick it to the curb (or more to my liking, over a cliff in flames) than have to endure the problems any longer. DO NOT BUY LENNOX EVER unless you have some strange crush on your local tech and hope to see him/her every couple of months.

We have gas pack unit on the roof. The tech spotted telltale oil dips and checked unit, discovered leaky evaporator coil. He said that they and other Lennox dealers in the area have had more leaky evaporator coils in relatively new units than there should be. He said when parts aren't available before the cooling season has even started and there are fairly long waits as well, that is frequently an indication that there is a problem with certain units that have defective parts.
The labor and freon will be about $1000 which is a lot to pay when you've already spent more to get a Lennox unit in the first place. I got a Lennox unit in 1999 from the company I use now and was very happy with it. When it gave up the ghost in 2019 I decided to again go with the Lennox. Only 6 months after the labor warranty has expired, the coil on the unit has developed a leak, requiring them to replace the coil at a cost of $1783.67. I find this to be outrageous. Lennox units have had previous problems with coil leaks. This is a known problem. Why is the company continuing to make products that don't last and cost people money? Andy ** states the part is under warranty, but I have to pay for the labor and Freon. They state that Freon is over 300.00 a pound. This is completely outrageous.

I installed a Lennox air conditioner a little over a year ago, but the compressor has now failed. Even though this unit is under warranty, and still manufactured, it will take 5-6 weeks to get a replacement. I live in Miami, and the temperature is in the mid to upper 80's. This is very poor product service from Lennox, leaving their customer hot and uncomfortable. Lennox should support the products they sell.

Was convinced to purchase Lennox air system by Eco-Air. Costly system but when it is working does great job. Unfortunately after having system a little over two year it has shut down four times all due to defective parts and the way it was built. The latest being a burnt out transformer due to wires shorting in panel on air pump. Thus needless to say over $700 in labor costs in this short time. Not right that because of their ill manufacturing the customer takes the burn.

My AC unit and furnace have now blown at only 4 yrs old. They have a great warranty so I wasn't too concerned, but it has now been over a month and my system is still not able to be fixed due to lack of parts available. I called Lennox directly because I didn't trust that my service provider was doing everything possible to get things moving faster and Lennox did nothing to help! Not the Lennox customer service reps fault, she was very friendly and wanted to help, there was just nothing that she could do. This company should be jumping to ensure that my unit is back up and running immediately, overnighting parts as far as I'm concerned, but that couldn't be farther from what I am experiencing. I regret going with a Lennox!

At the end of June 2022 our (5 year old) heat pump failed due to a faulty coil. Our service vendor ordered a replacement coil which was under warranty on the same day. In mid September, the part still had not been delivered and our A/C was still not working. We live in Florida and it’s not okay to live without A/C. I ended up ordering a new system from York to replace the Lennox unit since there was no indication of when the part would be replaced. I had no recourse and no other possible solution. I took Lennox to small claims court and was unsuccessful in recovering any cost associated with the breach of warranty. I will never buy a house with a Lennox system or purchase a Lennox HVAC system.

We bought a new Lennox furnace in February 2021. It was working until this past Saturday. We called the installers and they came out to look at it & determined it was the gas pressure regulator valve that had gone out. Of course the local Lennox parts warehouse didn't have any in stock and when the part arrived, it was the wrong one! Once the correct part was received, the furnace still wouldn't work so the installers called Lennox and were told to replace the motherboard - which of course Lennox did not stock! Been without heat for close to a week now with no relief in sight - for a Lennox furnace that isn't even two years old yet!.

We spent $20K+ on an Air Conditioner condenser and a IComfort Wi-Fi thermostat from Lennox. Seven years later, both the condenser AND thermostat are dead and inoperable. Lennox has an opt-in requirement or else they deny extended warranty claims from years 6-10 - but fortunately we live in California where shady small print like that is prohibited so they have to cover the condenser part.
Yet, they discontinued our model of thermostat, and designed the next generation to cost $1300 and be proprietary, so they upcharge their customers once you are in the Lennox ecosystem. And to make matters worse, they make their thermostat incompatible with the previous generation, so we have to also buy, from them, a second in-zone thermostat for upstairs, to replace one that is totally operable, because they design their products to take advantage of customers for maximum profit. It’s obvious and terrible, and their customer service is as ineffective as their products. Avoid Lennox products at all cost.

My Lennox Air Conditioner coil was found to be leaking August 2022 by a local certified HVAC specialist. My system was in use for one year and likely was installed with a known faulty unit. There is history of Lennox providing faulty coils to their customers. It does not appear they are trying to fix this trend. It is leading to customers having to pay untimely labor and repair costs. Additionally, the amount of Freon lost to countless leaking coils has environmental and safety implications. Hopefully EPA is working to hold them accountable in this area. I have lost confidence in the Lennox company at this time.

Had a whole house install done a year ago and Saturday evening came home to a 85 degree house. Checked the unit outside and the compressor and lines frozen. Called the install company and they couldn't get out until Monday. Not wanting to wait and knowing my way around A/C systems I removed the panel on the handler to have a look at the coil and discovered the glue that holds the insulation on the top panel had failed and the insulation fell on top of the coil. Naturally it caused the coil (with the insulation on it), lines, and compressor to freeze in a solid block of ice. Used a fan to thaw the ice catching as much of the water as possible, replaced the panel and started it back up and it worked.
First thing Monday the installation company shows up and inspect and takes photos. Tells me that it the labor warranty is days out but will contact Lennox to figure out how to repair. Meanwhile the condensation is dripping everywhere because the insulation is compromised and mold is starting to grow. They call me back and tell me that I will be responsible for the cleanup and repair. I call Lennox and they said that their handler can't create mold because they do not create water! LOL I asked why they put drains on them then. This company does not back their product and they will put you on hold for over an hour hoping you hang up.

In April of 2015, I purchased the Newest and Biggest Air Conditioner/Heat Pump Lennox made for residential housing. Highest efficiency and what I thought was the best quality in the USA. The unit always had to have the drain line cleaned out or it would shut off, and then in June 2020, the Coil went out. Part was under warranty, but I still had to pay for labor and for the cost of freon for this repair.
Now, 2 years later, the Coil again goes out. Yep, part is still under warranty, but not labor and freon. I live in Florida, and life is unbearable without AC during the summer. System went down on August 3, 2022 and part was ordered by my installing dealer on 8/4/22. Lennox gave them an arrival date of 8/26, over 3 weeks later. Hot, Humid for 3 weeks, I reached out to dealer who has been as nice as can be, to verify that the part will indeed be here the next day. Normally, Lennox doesn't give them a tracking number, so they called to verify the part was shipped. The answer was No, even worse, they were told that it was now going to be middle of September, and if we wanted the newer part that was made of Aluminum, instead of the Copper ones that originally came with it, we would wait for that till middle of October. Are YOU KIDDING ME?
I then contacted Lennox myself, explained that this is the 2nd time the coil has failed, and I can't live in "Florida" heat for 1-3 months without parts. I got the standard cookie cutter answer and the biggest Run Around in my life. My new solution? I ordered a NEW "CARRIER" Aircondition/Heat Pump that will be installed this coming Tuesday. I regret that I didn't do this early in August. I can only say to any potential customer, forget the OLD Lennox, as that company NO LONGER exist. The new Lennox will leave you poor and upset with the worst Product I've witnessed in Home Heating and Airconditioning in my 60 years. Customer NO MORE...

Air blows less than a Foot out of vent. Original dealer went MIA after install and we tried communicating this several times but no response to get any help, dealer makes any excuse he can not to help or says nothing needs to be done. This is because of Lennox treating dealers badly we think. And because Two other Lennox dealers unwilling to help as well, either to busy and or knowing how bad Lennox dealer warranty department is and how the dealer told me I have to be the one to tell Lennox what’s wrong and jump through hoops to get them to approve work.
Not the dealers who would get compensated for the work but me the homeowner. As if I were getting a commission. What dealers don’t want to do for the homeowner argue with Lennox warranty department and the cost to do so to make things right for the homeowner.. Even though they have a special hotline with Lennox to do so.
Lennox and dealers are supposed to be on point when it comes to this you would think seeing as they have this wonderful warranty and an additional one they opt you to get through comfort shield/AIG. My confusion is if the dealers and Lennox work together why are they not for the homeowner and having the homeowner call and fight this out? We are still looking for help here. We do feel that Lennox is not acting in “Good Faith” and Not following California Contract laws per CSLB and contractors not following protocol Etc.. and it’s very bothersome seeing as we have a historic home. My unit is only 15 months old (moved in April 13,2021) and has been having issues cooling since March 2022. The original Installer (house was a new build house) came and worked on it looking for leaks and couldn’t find any in house so they changed the outside coils in June. That didn’t fix the problem. They came back this week August 1 and said it was the TVX controller, BUT there aren’t ANY in the USA and they have no idea when there will be any for at least 2 months minimum. On top of that, the repair company wants to charge me the labor of $1600 to fix it…if it ever comes in because it took them beyond the warranty date to find problem.
I paid another company for a second opinion who told me if they ordered the indoor coils it would have that part on it and that the Lennox warehouse had plenty of those. So. I am going to have to pay $1600 out of pocket because it took them beyond the 12 months to fix it and there is a part available that could fix my problem but that appears not to be an option. So, here I am with my family which includes my 93 year old mother in the hottest part of the year in NC with minimal AC and sometimes no AC. This has to be one of my worst warranty calls in my 66 years. On top of all of this, I can’t confirm if my warranty was registered. I think I did it a year ago because I always submit my warranties.
However, with these issues happening I decided to make sure. Couldn’t find a way to confirm or anybody to confirm so I tried to re-enter and resubmit. System says I can’t submit because the build date is after my move in date. WHAT? I know how long I have lived here. I called Lennox and their very nice customer service person also said the build date was a year after I moved in. Last summer (July 2021) our A/C unit stopped blowing cold air. Upon further inspection it was discovered that the evaporator coil was leaking. Due to Covid affecting supply we were without a/c for about 6 weeks because the parts were on back-order. In South Texas on average the temperatures reach almost 100 degrees or more everyday in the summer, and having three children it was absolutely miserable.
Now today July 28, 2022 my a/c stopped working and again it is the evaporator coil! It is 2 weeks past the 1 year warranty and Lennox could care less. I tried calling multiple times asking for any type of remedy but they will not. I will have to spend almost another $2,000 for another faulty evaporator coil at no fault of my own. So every summer I guess I'll have to replace the evaporator coil? For some reason Lennox keeps making these poorly designed parts and installing them and no one holds them accountable. I read that there was a major lawsuit and payout in 2015 due to faulty evaporator coils. Someone should investigate them again because they clearly have not fixed the problem. I will never buy a Lennox again and I will warn anyone against buying one as well.
