Horrible customer service experience. My brand new AC's evaporator coil went bad in Year 1, blower motor changed in Year 2. AC coil went bad again in Year 3. I spoke to Carmen at Lennox. No apologies, didn't care. Waiting for 3 weeks without AC and may have to wait another two weeks. They will cover the coil but not $3k+ labor charge. Perfect example of big corporations- don't care attitude.

Lennox will not sell parts directly to the homeowner even if you live in a State with Right to Repair laws. They also have sent updates to thermostats to make them non-functional. Lennox pushes their warranty; however dealers (at least in my area) charge more than the cost of a thermostate just for labor to install it. This high labor cost negates any benefit of the warranty if the consumer pays more than the unit itself for each installation. The unit has been very quiet and efficient. It does a great job keeping the house at the selected temperature. However, the negatives have far outweighed the benefits.

I reported Thursday that my unit was not cooling at all. My unit is four years old and inspected twice a year by Tempo. The fan was dead, and the compressor sounded pretty bad, the Tempo technician said. I am extremely disappointed with Lennox for putting out an inferior product. We are still paying for the unit and now face a 500 install fee for the fan. And possibly a 1900 install fee for the compressor for a four-year-old unit. Thanks, Lennox for covering the parts but not the labor cost on a four-year-old unit????

It’s Monday night and since last Thursday, my temperature inside my house has been 85 to 88 degrees. I have a one-year-old and an 83-year-old mother in the house suffering through this. Have contacted Tempo who installed the unit and does our maintenance 4 times so far, to check on the status of the repair and have heard absolutely nothing. People out there, be careful if you are considering Lennox or Tempo in the future. Amen

September 2025. Avoid at all cost. I bought 3 heat pumps for 2 properties in Canada. The compressor on 1 sounds like it’s going to explode on startup. Lennox tech admitted that they changed compressor supplier and replaced my entire unit even though the compressor is the same. Insofar as the second unit, the tech said that ever since the defrost sensor was moved the unit becomes a solid block of ice. Lennox doesn’t give a hoot. Spent over $30,000 on junk! Stay away!!!

Bellows Plumbing: Mini split review. In November of 2023, I needed to replace my old gas wall heater. Our home is older and we needed something new. I decided on a Lennox mini split system after seeing a display at Costco. The package included having Bellows Plumbing, a local HVAC contractor install the system. We had this work done in January of 2024.

Everything worked quite well until the late fall of 2025. We had had the system for almost two years. When the temperatures fell into the lower 40’s, the Lennox system quit heating and would just blow cold air. I called Bellows and they sent out a technician. After explaining my problem one of the first things he said was, “Look how you’re dressed.” I was in shorts and a T shirt. This was before he even checked the unit (he later denied saying this upon his third visit). I told him my old thermostat registered at 55 degrees and he told me those old things didn’t work. I told him again, the unit just blew cold air when the temperature got into the lower 40’s. He checked the unit said everything was working correctly and left.

When the temperature again got into the lower 40’s, the unit still did not work. I called again and the same tech came out and said he couldn’t find anything wrong. I suggested maybe I wasn’t using the remote correctly and he agreed and left. I made sure I was using the remote correctly and the unit still did not heat our home and blew cold air. I called a third time and Bellows sent the same tech. By this time something else had gone wrong with the unit and it no longer worked at all. He checked it and did not seem to know how to get into it to look. He beat it up a bit taking a panel off. When he was finished, he blamed the problem on a power surge and said I needed to call their electrician. By this time I was done with Bellows Plumbing.

I called Lennox and an overseas service representative said I need to call Costco and gave me a number. When I called the number another overseas rep told me if I gave her my bank account number, I had won a $300 gift card. So I had been given a scam number. I found the correct number and the Lennox/Costco rep talked in circles and took no interest in the scam number. So, I have a $10,000 Lennox mini split unit in my backyard that I have not bothered to fix as of May 14th, 2026. Why throw good money after bad?

I could write a novel of the problems with this company. Their "units" are pure junk and don't even function or operate to accords, see all the other reviews firsthand. I had the unfortunate experience of buying a $10,000 Lennox Unit, and in the first week the damn unit got fried due to a faulty element. About a dozen problems later, "and mind you", this unit is not even 2 years old yet and has been one problem child after another, finally the "coil" went bad in it and Lennox ended up telling me that the coil was on backorder and may not receive the part in over 6 months!!! Absolutely unacceptable. To top it off, this company is rude, offensive, unprofessional, do absolutely nothing to compensate, or even try to help you, no sympathy or understanding for the inconveniencing they cause and I could give them a hundred choice words how low and scum they truly are.

Not to mention look at all the Consumer Affairs complaints, class action suits and other legal actions taken against them and this goes on and on. Complains to the Business Bureau, how are they still allowed to even be in operation!!! After much study, this is a company that has ongoing evaporator coil issues, that they just don't want to seem to address or rectify the problem, then have the gall to slap you with high repair costs!! Users have reported failures in critical components like blower fans, capacitors, and communication boards, as well as noise issues related to the fan shroud. This is also a company that screws you on WARRANTY COVERAGE, you can't get any support from them. Wait on parts, high repair costs, outrageous waiting periods you will wait for indefinitely and they don't give a care in the world about your needs or problems.

This company should be put under and dissolved and its president and his executives should be terminated and put out work for LEECHING the American Public and running a corrupt company like this. You give American-made a bad name and are a poor example of standard. I am so ashamed of myself for buying your product and for the hell I've put myself and my family through over your piece of garbage. I paid a grave mistake choosing Lennox. So please... Don't make the same mistake as I had, do not buy Lennox. You will live to regret it.

Updated on 05/06/2026: I wrote Lennox a letter to describe the problems we had with a Lennox air conditioner coil that was leaking in an elbow, as I expected, Lennox did not respond. After spending $1,800 due to coil problems prior to an installation of a new coil, that was under warranty. but. the installation cost of the new coil was an additional $770. Come on Lennox, respond!!

Original: Purchased a new house in 2019, Lennox air conditioner was installed during the house build. The air conditioner was registered which accounts for a 10 year warranty. In April of 2025, the capacitor in outside unit went bad and a service call was made to change out capacitor, I paid service call of $500+. In April of this year, 2026, a service call was made to charge the unit with refrigerant, sevice call was $800. Service call was made to pressure test the unit and a leak was found in air conditioner coil. Another cost of $500 for coil change out. Lennox wil not help with costs of service calls.

Note!!! The Lennox coil went bad, not my fault and I am out $1800+. Expensive to have a Lennox unit!!! I am requesting help from Lennox for costs, Lennox will not help me out financially.Very disappointed in Lennox, am I looking forward for more service call costs since Lennox does not have confidence in their equipment, or Lennox would also warranty service calls???

We purchased a Lennox air conditioner for our home last year. The unit itself has been excellent. However, the 3M Filtrete filters we've been using are a tight fit. We're using the correct size indicated by Lennox. But the cardboard frame is thick enough to require literally squeezing to the point of cutting our fingers before we can slide the filter into the tray underneath the air handler. We called Lennox customer support and found them distinctly unsupportive. After almost an hour on the phone (time we'll never get back!), my wife and were stunned by the answer to our query (as to whether they might suggest an alternative filter). Their answer? No. Will we recommend Lennox to family and friends after this experience? No.

On March 9th, 2026 White Mechanical installed a new Lennox furnace for us. We were offered an electrostatic air filter option with the Costco purchase, but we declined that expensive option. The installation proceeded as expected and the installer did a very clean and professional job. However, we asked the installer to demonstrate how to replace the air filter, we were dismayed at the complexity of the replacement. We must remove the outside cover, then using a special tool, remove the interior cover to access the filter. Then, making sure we do not disturb any of the loose wires nearby, we then remove the filter hold-down bracket with the special tool and swap filters. Then carefully replace all the parts & panels in reverse order until restored.

I was dismayed at the complexity of the furnace filter exchange, as the other Lennox furnace we have has a simple door, allowing the filter to be changed in 10 seconds, instead of 10-15 minutes, requiring a special tool. See attached photo. I must admit it, it was my expectation to receive a simple way to replace the filter with the new furnace, being the best brand on the market with a rather expensive install.

White Mechanical offered to install a simple filter box below the furnace, so we can swap filters quickly like downstairs, but the quote was $1,100 more, almost as much as the electronic filter we rejected due to the cost. White Mechanical also offers an annual service program with the first year free, including a filter change. However, after the first year, the annual cost would likely be several hundred dollars. I can’t help but wonder if the filter issue isn’t part of a scheme to create an annual gravy train in service fees. I am also puzzled by the Lennox warranty requirement of annual inspections, which could invalidate future warranty claims, if not followed. Talk about teaming-up against the customer.

My coil has failed and I must either spend a significant amount to replace with a legitimate coil or replace the unit which is now 11 years old. My unit should have a 15 to 20 year lifespan but only lasted 11 years. Apparently the class action closed or was soon closing at the time I had my unit installed and I was not informed by Lennox.

I only give this Lennox unit one star because I had to make a choice. My XC20 was installed in Sept 2020 AT A COST OF $20865, including new gas furnace! Annual A/C and furnace inspections performed by installation company. Latest inspection noted a drop in line pressure which was discovered to be caused by a leaking coil. Lennox knew of the leaking coils (see class action lawsuit) yet continued to install these faulty coil after 2015. My coil was covered under warranty but needed to be replaced by a box coil which would not fit into the current housing the faulty coil was in.

New hardware for their faulty coil cost me $3650 initially, but install company reduced to $2853 after my persistence to take accountability. I called Lennox to ask for a refund for the extra I had to pay for equipment replacement caused by their faulty coil. Was basically told to pound sand, we won't help you. Our Lennox Merit series ML14XP1 heat pump unit has been a total disaster. In the 5 years we have owned the unit, we have had to have 3 major repairs to the outside evaporator coil assembly, each time causing the gas to completely escape. The first time, the manifold was incorrectly brazed during manufacture, which the service technician re-brazed. The second and third time it was the copper tubing leaking (proved under a pressure test). This nonsense is unbelievable. The service technician told me the only recourse is to buy another complete heat pump assembly, which will also require a new air handler. This is a warning, based on my experience, DO NOT BUY A LENNOX MERIT SERIES heat pump!

Cost of unit $6000. 6 techs could not find the problem. I gave up and called another company from the ones who sold and installed it. They installed a wave R for $900 and the smell was gone. That was last year. This year it happened again after using the heat.

I called the tech support customer service line today, on hold over an hour, then someone says they only speak to contractors and transfers me to residential customer service. 20 more minutes on hold. Nice man says they don't have tech support for anyone but contractors. There is a serious defect in their acs. No one can find it. I can't use the heat and there are cold fronts all winter. The company that installed the Wave R replaced it under warranty so I can use it on Cool again. It took 2 days for the smell to go away from every room. The unit is quiet and efficient except has a fatal flaw no one can find. They recommend having the company who installed it call to inquire...but they will not wait on hold for over an hour.

I'm very disappointed in the performance of this unit. When the temperature goes below 40°, the heat pump blows cold air for 20 to 30 minutes before the warm air begins. During that 30 minutes of cold air, it brings down the temperature in our house at least 5°. So now when it gets cold outside, it's like having the air conditioner on. We've had Royal Air technicians come out on several occasions and they tell me that heat pumps take 20 to 30 minutes to blow warm air and that's just the way it is. They tell me they get a lot of customer complaints about it. So am I supposed to just live with this? The air conditioner works great, but the heater is very disappointing.

You must register each and every piece. If you do not register within 60 days, you will have no 3-year labor and 7-year parts warranty. I would bet that 95% of people do not know this fact and new home builders and/or installers might not tell you. Who likes warranty work? If you were told, consider yourself lucky. This is just my opinion. Do your own research! One last point, Lennox Consumer Affairs said this to me via email, "Unfortunately, we cannot control what information the builder or the installing contractor provides consumers."
