I highly regarded Lennox regarding our 2 HVACs installed around 2011 maybe later. We have had issues with the fancy thermostats and now an inverter board I’m told needs replacement. The cost is outrageous, and as a retired senior I’ve had enough. We will never buy another Lennox product. The high tech products don’t last and apparently costly. I felt the need to post my feelings and warn others.

Lennox systems offers an $1800 rebate on qualifying system which includes heat pump, air handler, and thermostat. The system was installed by their distributor who said my system was eligible for the $1800 rebate. The rebate is a lie and they are dishonest. I am very sorry that I had a Lennox system installed. The company lies.

Very upset. My Lennox a/c and heating unit is one year past warranty and the thermostat went bad. To replace it will cost $100 service fee + $840 + tax thermostat. Almost $1000 for a thermostat??? You can’t use generic thermostats or you lose the efficiency of the system. You must buy a Lennox thermostat. I wish I would have understood all of this prior to going with Lennox. Never again will I make that mistake. I encourage all others to do the same.

I give them a 5 for how well the HVAC operates. My home is very comfortable. I give them 1 star for communication. I have sent the company 2 different emails at 2 different email addresses. No reply from either one. Very poor customer service. They put everything back on the installer. They expect them to handle everything. With their recent agreement with Samsung you would expect more. I can tell you now my next system will not be a Lennox. I will go back to Rheem.

Just had a service person come out to my house for a heater not working, for 10 years the system was flawless, now they are telling me my motherboard has went out and my blower motor may be bad as well. Neither one of these products are due to maintenance and I am really disappointed with the product. I wish I would have known all the problems before installing this product. We had to go through the Hero program as we could not afford this any other way. Now we are going to have a big bill. Not happy

It has been an extremely frustrating experience dealing with the rebate process for my new Lennox system. We had a Lennox air conditioner and furnace installed on June 26, 2025, and I immediately applied for the $250 rebate. However, as of today, I still have not received it. The only point of contact for rebates is the Promotions Consumer Team. When I emailed them, I was told that the rebate MasterCard had been sent in November 2025 — which we never received. They promised to resend it, but it still never arrived. Further emails went unanswered.
I even contacted Lennox headquarters, and they said they could not assist and instructed me to contact the Consumer Team again — which, as mentioned, no longer responds. This has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Due to this experience, I will not purchase Lennox products in the future. The company’s rebate process is unreliable, and customer service is unhelpful. – “I will never buy Lennox products again!”

Our Lennox Merit series ML14XP1 heat pump unit has been a total disaster. In the 5 years we have owned the unit, we have had to have 3 major repairs to the outside evaporator coil assembly, each time causing the gas to completely escape. The first time, the manifold was incorrectly brazed during manufacture, which the service technician re-brazed. The second and third time it was the copper tubing leaking (proved under a pressure test). This nonsense is unbelievable. The service technician told me the only recourse is to buy another complete heat pump assembly, which will also require a new air handler. This is a warning, based on my experience, DO NOT BUY A LENNOX MERIT SERIES heat pump!

The air handler or some other parts have a serious problem. I would like to inform potential buyers to not purchase one. 2 years in a row when going from using heat to using cool a disgusting smell develops called dirty sock syndrome. At less than a year old. Cost of unit $6000. 6 techs could not find the problem. I gave up and called another company from the ones who sold and installed it. They installed a wave R for $900 and the smell was gone. That was last year. This year it happened again after using the heat.
I called the tech support customer service line today, on hold over an hour, then someone says they only speak to contractors and transfers me to residential customer service. 20 more minutes on hold. Nice man says they don't have tech support for anyone but contractors. There is a serious defect in their acs. No one can find it. I can't use the heat and there are cold fronts all winter. The company that installed the Wave R replaced it under warranty so I can use it on Cool again. It took 2 days for the smell to go away from every room. The unit is quiet and efficient except has a fatal flaw no one can find. They recommend having the company who installed it call to inquire...but they will not wait on hold for over an hour.

We bought a Lennox Elite heat pump 2 years ago because our old heater kept freezing up in cold weather. We bought our Lennox through Royal Air in Chico, California. I'm very disappointed in the performance of this unit. When the temperature goes below 40°, the heat pump blows cold air for 20 to 30 minutes before the warm air begins. During that 30 minutes of cold air, it brings down the temperature in our house at least 5°. So now when it gets cold outside, it's like having the air conditioner on. We've had Royal Air technicians come out on several occasions and they tell me that heat pumps take 20 to 30 minutes to blow warm air and that's just the way it is. They tell me they get a lot of customer complaints about it. So am I supposed to just live with this? The air conditioner works great, but the heater is very disappointing.

As a reminder to anyone buying a new home be sure to register your air handler, condenser, heat pump, etc., separately. Don't just register one piece of equipment. You must register each and every piece. If you do not register within 60 days, you will have no 3-year labor and 7-year parts warranty. I would bet that 95% of people do not know this fact and new home builders and/or installers might not tell you. Who likes warranty work? If you were told, consider yourself lucky. This is just my opinion. Do your own research! One last point, Lennox Consumer Affairs said this to me via email, "Unfortunately, we cannot control what information the builder or the installing contractor provides consumers." Wow...that is so wrong.

I'm a heating contractor. A client has a Lennox air handler. 5 years ago I installed a new boiler to feed the air handler. This winter the blower motor on the Lennox stopped working. I spent 2.5 hours on hold with lennox for tech assistance. It was confirmed that I needed a new control board. Any other part for a heating system I can find a local supply house. Called a dozen places to no avail. Called lennox again and was told I could only get the part through them but they wouldn't sell me the part because I don't have an EPA number. Was able to order the part off of Amazon.

We recently replaced our 15-year-old Goodman heat pump with a new Lennox Elite system, and unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing. Our monthly electric bill is noticeably higher than it was with the old unit, which is frustrating given the expectation of improved efficiency. Additionally, when the outdoor temperature drops below 25°F, the system struggles to keep up and maintain a consistent comfortable 65-degree indoor temperature. On a positive note, Comfort Solutions has been very responsive and helpful throughout the process, which we greatly appreciate. However, our dissatisfaction lies with Lennox as the manufacturer of the blower and heat pump. We expected better performance and reliability from a brand with their reputation.

Please don’t buy a Lennox if you live in a place (like Canada) where you NEED a furnace. Everybody at Lennox is numb to the fact that being without a furnace due to lack of parts for Dec/Jan doesn’t work here.

Do not buy Lennox! They claim to be high-end, but their systems fail and are extremely costly to repair. I put a brand new system in my home 3 years ago and the heat pump has already failed. I was quoted $2400 to repair it, which is wild since I paid $3500 for the heat pump just 3 years ago. I am a licensed realtor and I cannot stress enough how I will never recommend this trash company to any of my clients.

I'm retired/licensed HVAC tech. Due to the high cost of repair my original AC unit, I hired Sierra Air Conditioning/plumbing to install the most expensive high-efficiency with multi-speed unit in 2023. The AC was acting up in June 2025, and I called install company for services. The company tech tried to repair the unit more than 10 times until the weather was cooling down and there was no need for AC. I have to wait to verify if the system was fixed by next summer. Now as we turned on heater in November, it takes over one hour to heat up 2 degrees in our bedroom. Tech came again, tried to adjust air flow, but it doesn't seem to help anything. I don't recommend to buy expensive and unreliable Lennox air conditioning system.

Garbage. Do not buy or do business with them. Bought a new house. The system went out within 3 years. It was under warranty. They use only "authorized" technicians. Technicians from 2 different "dealers" came couldn't figure out the problem. Spent $800, non-refundable. Offered to replace the entire system because I am "the second" buyer. I sent them to hell.

Within days of our warranty expiration (only 5 yrs from the date of installation), we realized our a.c. unit had failed. Turned out to be a leak in the coil. Of course, Lennox would not honor the warranty even though the a.c. unit was installed over a month after the coil and well within 5 yrs, and the leak had obviously been going on for some time prior to any warranty expiration. So... about $2800 later we have a new coil. The Lennox rep I spoke with on the phone acknowledged the reality that we would never buy another Lennox. He could've cared less about our dissatisfaction. I followed up with an email to the company requesting them to review the situation, to which I never even received the courtesy of a response.

My Lennox a/c has been a lemon since I purchased it about 8 years ago. I have spent almost 3000 dollars putting in parts under warranty. Compressor went after first year. Cools replaced twice. Fan motor replaced twice. And something else. Unit keeps clogging up with slime. I have reported to lennox more than once. Reply... So sorry. Do nothing. I sent copies of all problems and cost receipts. I wouldn't recommend buying a lennox. You can understand why!!! I gave a 1 star because there are no o stars.

We purchased a Lennox in 2019 who would have thought we would needs a new unit in 2025; Leaking Lennox is true to their name. Take a chance on anything beside Lennox and crook of salesmen too. The crook for the Lennox product wanted us the consumer to pay, 5k for a repair, when we could put another 5k and get a new in and out unit product for our house. Then when we tried to get the coil to have it replace by another company, the Lennox warehouse in Mobile kept telling us our unit was never registered but every time we spoked to the salesman who sold the unit to us, he kept saying it was and we need to speak to someone in the back. Now, this sound like some kind undercover, illegal paper work that was not process in the beginning. The found desk person have no record but the person in the back does. Stay away, and follow your instinct when you are dealing with people like that.

We have purchased two Lennox systems in the last 10 years. One for the upstairs (heat pump) and a furnace unit for the main and basement levels. We will NEVER purchase another Lennox unit again. The upstairs unit is being replaced this week with Carrier. Three years ago, the blower motor was replaced under warranty for the upstairs unit. The last AC checkup indicated that the TXV was operating out of range and now refrigerant is leaking from the copper evaporator coil. Total repair cost is estimated at about $5K. There was a class action suit against Lennox back in 2016, a few months before we purchased the upstairs unit. No notification from Lennox or anyone.
Who knew we had copper instead of aluminum evaporator coils that would rust and leak. Lennox knew they had issues. Lennox Customer Service also leaves much to be desired. There is no Supervisor or anyone else to talk with except the person who answered your call. We were out of warranty a few weeks and so we were told we were out of luck. The Lennox representative said even if your warranty expired the day before, we would be SOL. Never replaced a HVAC or heat pump until we purchased these Lennox systems so we are not sure if that is a typical industry response. However, why put up with such behavior?

The former owner bought this new furnace from Lennox in February 2020. Unfortunately, the owner sold it to me in September 2021 because he had to go to dementia care. The control panel went out in the furnace and because they said I’m the second owner I don’t have coverage for the 10 year warranty! Please go easy on yourself and don’t order any Lennox products. They don’t care about us consumers, evidently they only care about their commercial clientele.

I bought a new Lennox system in December 2018. I was told it would be more efficient than my old Trane system that was still functioning. Two months later, right in the middle of winter while I'm in the hospital, the unit won't work. It came with a defective part. Finally, after a full day with my condo at 40 F, it was finally working again. Now, six years later, the unit doesn't work again and the technicians are stumped. It is incredibly unreliable and overpriced.

This company will NOT disclose what an individual would pay for one of their units. It becomes impossible then to find out what the contractor has marked the unit up thus opening the homeowner up to possible price gouging by the install company. This practice should not be condoned. It should be up to the individual that ends up paying for the unit in the end to be able to calculate what the actual markup is so as not to get ripped off. This is especially important for the elderly, disabled, and anyone else that is not aware of average pricing within the industry. I can understand not selling direct to a homeowner but to not disclose pricing should be criminal in this day an age.

The Lennox unit came with the new build in 2022. On one of warmest days in October my unit stops working. After being on hold for more than an hour, I was forced to call an independent contractor. Once repaired I was informed that the motor stopped working because it was installed in 2019. How can that be in a 2022 new construction? Two options, either the unit was used or the part was used, either way it has not survived the 5 years it was promised. Now I am out of almost $500 and no one at the repair or warranty department will answer my call. My most recent attempt used 2 hours of my time on hold. If you are going to cheat someone at the very least entertain their complaints. In this economy, no one wants to spend unnecessary money. Piss poor.

We will never buy a Lennox A/C unit again. These systems come with only a 5-year warranty, and in our experience, they simply don’t last. We live in a five-year-old new build, and our builder, Darling Homes (Taylor **), installed Lennox units. Last year, the coils failed on the smaller unit and had to be repaired. This year, the same issue occurred with the larger unit—but now the parts are no longer under warranty. I even reached out to the CEO and received no response. Their Consumer Affairs department essentially told us, "too bad, sorry." Now, we’re stuck paying $6,900 out of pocket for a new system on a house that's only five years old. Extremely disappointed in both the product quality and customer service.

I have three Lennox Heating and AC systems in three of my homes and I am extremely unhappy with this company. They sell very expensive and substandard equipment that goes bad easily. They sell their equipment through a network of dealers. If you try to get service however through Lennox as a consumer, that service is non-existent. They will not honor their parts warranty directly to consumers and they will insist that you use one of their dealers. I had a few months ago two Lenox S40 thermostats go out when the power to the house was interrupted and reinstated. These thermostats cost well over $1500.00 each!!!! The just now, I have the blower fan motor go out on one of my units.
I called an AC company to verify the problem and indeed they agreed that it was the blower fan motor. They asked to be paid for four hours of labor at $220.00 per hour or $880.00 to replace the blower fan motor. I said NO because I felt that this was too much for a job that is no more than one hour to replace that motor. I called Lennox and asked them to supply me with the part that was under warranty and they REFUSED to do so. They kept telling me that I have to go through one of their dealers. In other words, they want to force me to go through one of these dealers while they do not cover the labor cost and have no control whatsoever of what these dealers charge, who charge more than brain surgeons at $220.00 an hour. It is insane. I called repeatedly their consumer consultant line but nobody answers that line. I was on hold twice for more than two hours each time. Totally Ridiculous.
BE WARNED. This company is a sham company because they take your good money and then they have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE when you have a problem, and you will have a problem because their equipment breaks down all the time. They sell overpriced equipment while they provide zero customer service and down right lie to consumers. Stay away from Lennox. There are much better AC brands like Trane, Carried, American Standard and so no.
I have two projects in two different houses right now that I am replacing again ac systems and I have received offers from two local Lennox dealers but I am completely excluding LENNOX at this point due to the discovery of complete lack of consumer service one their part. No more LENNOX for me because in my opinion this is a very bad company that takes the money from uninformed consumers and then turns around and provides ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE to these consumers. It is rather sad to witness American companies act in this manner and degenerate to the point of non-existent customer service.
