Residential air conditioner model HS21-048-1P broke down. Technician made temporary repair but states the protective module needed to be replaced. I was then later informed by technician that he ordered part from Lennox and was told the part is no longer being manufactured. It is also impossible to substitute another part in its place. I contacted Lennox consumer affairs and they confirmed this but couldn't say what was being done to correct the problem. My unit is working for now but shuts down whenever there's any amount of precipitation outside. I'm afraid if the part fails completely my only option would be to purchase a new $3,000 dollar unit when all I need is a 300 dollar part.

Possible loss of thousands of dollars if the part decribed above fails completely.

My Lennox Air conditioning unit is 6 years old. I have had problems for the past 2 years. Two companies have told me i need to replace the E coil in the unit which is made by Aspen Manufacturing. They warranty the product for 5 years but in reality the product should be good for at least 15. (I am told this by both companies that came out to look at the unit). The ironic problem is that 6 other residents on my street that all have the same unit have the same problem. We are all in need of a new $1300.00 e coil which happened to need replacing right after the 5 year warranty. This is not right especially since the product should be good for 15 years.

I have called Lennox and Aspen and both say the warranty is expired and there is nothing i can do. I disagree especially because there are 6 other units with the same problem at the same time.

I am confident that Lennox put a faulty coil in their air conditioning units knowing they would only last until 5 years and that many more residents in my area will have to replace this expensive coil right after the 5 year warranty is up.
