My AC broke last year. Luckily, my home owner's warranty sent a contractor and installed a brand new air-conditioner unit. They installed the Lennox air-conditioner. This year, the AC broke again. The inspector said that it's the compressor and it was a factory defect. Luckily, it is still under the manufacturer warranty. He said he has to send the picture of the compressor and get a new one from the manufacturer so he can install it. It has been three weeks of over 90 degree, 100% humidity, mid July in Mississippi. I have been following up with the contractor every week. Every time I call them, they say they are waiting for the part to be shipped from the Lennox manufacturer and that they will let me know when the manufacturer ships it.
Last week when I got to speak to the manufacturer customer service, they said that they are waiting for the contractor to sign a paper. When I called the contractor, they said they have not heard or gotten any pending paper to sign. Are you telling me that I have been living in my house in dire condition because you guys couldn't communicate like you're superposed to? Now the contractor says that she is not able to be in touch with them. I have been trying to call the manufacturer customer line, but they keep you on hold for hours only to hang up. If they pick up the call, they say that they are not authorized to give the information on the parts. This is infuriating and unacceptable. My house will be degrading with mold every day. This will end up in a bigger problem. Will be reporting this company to wherever I have to.

Model M/N 14PHX-036-230-21. 4 year old house with multiple repairs, some repeat failures like - blower motor 2X with one covered under 2 year warranty, blown start up capacitor 2X, recharge system 2X with a suspected leak in the evaporator - at least $500 - $600 to recharge. Now I need to throw more money to get a leak test and if the evaporator is defective, high labor charges to replace it - another industry scam. Every visit outside the warranty requires a trip fee at $75 - $109 per visit - total maybe 5 visits.

I bought a 14ACXS042 Lennox merit AC and it is not cooling. Technician stated I needed to replace it. Lennox states that it has a 10 year warranty if you register the unit. Registered mine right away when I bought it 5 years ago but I was told that I must have not registered it within the 60 day period because it only showed 5 year warranty. Yet they were not able to tell me when it was registered because according to them the system doesn’t given the date registered. Really convenient for Lennox. I was also told that even if I did have warranty it only covers parts and if it needs replacement they will not do anything about it. I do not recommend Lennox. Save your money and a headache.

Extremely poor “Customer Support” or should I say absolutely NO support at all. Purchased a 12K BTU Mini-split system in 2017. It only worked for 2 ½ years before it failed. According to their warranty policy, I’m forced to call a Lennox “Authorized Dealer” who attempted to fix it while building up a labor cost of $1500 CDN, but the unit was never repaired. The “Main Board” was replaced twice, the compressor was replaced and the indoor control unit was also replaced. Nothing worked.
So, I called Lennox Customer Support and after weeks of email correspondences, their only consistent reply was “Keep working with the Dealer”, which translates to “Spend more money to a dealer who has not been able to repair it in over 2 years”. Clearly, Lennox needed to intervene, but when I asked for their help, they just simply ignored my pleas. This is a company that does not stand behind their products, so if you are a lucky one that has a unit that actually works for more than 2 ½ years, great. But if the unit turns out to be an irreparable “Lemon”, don’t count on Lennox to help.

Horrible experience dealing with Lennox. I have a 6-year-old system installed in our new construction home. I wished now I had the information of the history of coil failure they have had for many years including settling a class action suit on same in 2015. Unconscionable that after all this time this is still an issue with Lennox. They tell me my outside part of unit is covered under the 10 year warranty but attic unit is not? Whole system installed at same time why is one covered and other not? Now they tell me that my unit in attic which has the failing coil unit is listed under another homeowner, what the hell? Never buy any Lennox customer service sucks on hold for hours no resolution. Next step small claims court since they are based in Dallas perhaps that may work??

My new home was installed with a Lennox Air Handler System that is now inoperable due to the evaporator coil going bad. The coil is defective due to the copper parts corroding. This product also has a recall that has existed since they put it on the market. When I contacted customer service, they basically told me to join the class action lawsuit which I attempted. However, that lawsuit (which was settled) does not apply to my specific product. Now I am faced with having to purchase a new system with no help from the manufacturer who intentionally sold and benefited from their cheap products. Consumers need more protection from shark companies like this. I will continue to spread the word that this company is not for consumers in hopes to save the next person from spending a fortune to correct their clear negligence.

Worst company to deal with. They will not stand behind their warranty by any means. They don’t even have parts to fix their units. When asked what they were going to do since they didn’t have the parts to my unit that is still under warranty I was told to buy a new one and that they were by no means going to give me a discount towards one since they can’t stand behind their warranty. While reading online I found that they’ve had a class-action lawsuit against them for knowingly sending out units with subpar parts. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BRAND!

Our $20,000 HVAC unit has required more than a dozen service calls in the first 3 years amounting to almost $2,000 in repairs. Dealing with the corporate office is a nightmare resulting in no resolutions. You will find yourself stuck between the dealer and corporation with neither able to come to a resolution unless you are willing to foot the bill. Would NEVER consider buying a Lennox product again!

I purchased a very expensive HVAC system about 3 1/2 years ago, it was a Lennox product. About 4 weeks ago, the system malfunctioned. I contacted the service dealer who installed the product and had been maintaining it for service. I was told that the coolant leaked out because there was a faulty soldering joint. I contacted Lennox and was connected to someone in customer service who robotically continued to tell me that it wasn't covered under the warranty as it wasn't a part. I attempted to explain numerous times that it was a manufacturing defect in the soldering job. I asked to speak to a manager and was only able to leave a message.
As of this writing about 3 weeks later I have not received a call back. I found Lennox's Facebook page and posted the situation. I received a comment back asked me to send a private message with the information about the system and someone would help me. I sent the private message and someone did write back to me stating they wouldn't help me, then proceeded to delete my message from their Facebook page. I wrote a subsequent message and it was never posted, so their followers think that they helped me with the problem. I had to pay over $1,200. to remediate their manufacturing defect. They do not stand behind their products and do not care that they are manufacturing inferior products.

Poor customer service that don’t keep warranty information updated thereby making it impossible to apply for warranty through its dealers even though it’s valid. My system was installed in a brand new house in 2105 but we were the first buyers in 2017. Warranty is effective but Lennox won't proactively fix the warranty end date in their system even though I provided builder paperwork. As a result dealer can’t validate warranty through their system and won’t schedule the repair. Lennox won’t allow me to call on behalf of the dealer. The dealer refuses to make a second call. I am stuck in a Catch 22 and while Lennox says it’s ‘understands’, it won’t allow me to get the under warranty parts unless the dealer calls since customer is not allowed to order the parts! I will not buy a LENNOX product for the ridiculous reasons I got from them … They are dishonest.

Original installing dealer do not work with Lennox any more. It will cost me a much and I will not go with Lennox. Just over 5 years and my top of the line Lennox icomfort thermostat has died. The 1.5F capacitor inside has leaked all over the electronics inside. This has happened just outside the warranty period. This thermostat was multiple times the price as a google nest or other wifi thermostat, so I would expect it to last a lot longer. I have contacted Lennox and they will not replace it or give me a discount on a new unit. I believe the thermostat was $700, and when I purchased it, I bout a gas furnace, heat pump, and electronic air filter all at the same time. with installation from one of their distributors. For a failure like this it has most likely affected many users, and should be recalled in my opinion. It looks like the capacitor has been leaking for quite a while.

I've been an HVAC technician since 1991. Lennox equipment seems to be constructed ok but good luck to you should you have an issue with residential equipment. I have screen shots that I would be happy to share of being on hold with Lennox support trying to deal with a customer's warranty issues for over 2hrs without getting to even talk to a representative. My customer continues to deal with a gas valve issue on a new furnace in -30 degree celsius weather. Time on hold with tech support on this issue alone is now up to 3.5hrs so far without resolve. We don't get paid to sit on hold - can't spend much more time trying to help this customer and they really shouldn't have to be paying for any of this repair.
I was told by the local wholesaler that I would be able to leave a call back number with another "updated phone number". Same result - so frustrating. No other manufacturer leaves us hanging like that. So glad we didn't do the installation because I would be so embarrassed right now. Good thing Lennox is good at marketing.

I moved into my home in 2013. The home was built in 2004. The original AC unit was with the home when we purchased it, and we didn't need to replace it until 2018. We decided to go with the Lennox unit because we were able to get financing through Costco. We thought we were purchasing a long-lasting unit for our home. The joke was on us.
That was April of 2018. Every single year since we'd have to have Red Cap (their maintenance company) come out and service our unit. At least one time in the year the unit stops working and we have to have it flushed with hot water to get rid of the mildew. Red Cap claims this is normal for FL but I'd never heard of this in all our years living here.
Therefore, it was no surprise in December of 2021, when all of a sudden the unit stopped working. We expected another flush was needed and called the guy out to do the usual work. Except this time, he said the coolant was low and we likely had a leak. We paid the $250 to have him check just to confirm that yes, we needed a new coil at a whopping $1,600 cost! I am not even done paying off this $7,000 unit, but suddenly it's costing me $1,600 to replace a coil?
While my husband is talking to the guy, I pulled up our original invoice which included the warranty info. Sure enough, "parts and coils" have a 10 year warranty according to the document we were given by Red Cap when it was installed. My husband took that out to the service guy and the service guy tells him "yeah, the part is covered under warranty, but the $1,600 is for labor. Normally it's $3,000 without warranty." WHAT? $1,600 for labor to remove and replace a coil? The entire unit was $7,000 and that included pulling out and discarding the old indoor and outdoor units. So how on earth is labor to replace a COIL $1,600?? Oh and get this, we had to pay for the "labor" in advance in order for them to order the "covered" part/coil.
It's unusually hot here in FL for December and we can't go without AC when it's up to 85 every day. So we had no choice but to pay the $1,600 to get the ball rolling so we could get the part ordered to fix this ASAP. I'm livid that a 4 year old AC unit has major parts breaking when I haven't even finished paying it off. I'm sick and tired of service people telling us "oh yeah they don't make ____ like they used to." Stop buying cheap parts for your systems then. Give us quality products that work and last!

I bought the top of the range Lennox high efficiency furnace at the recommendation of my furnace company, assuming reliability at the price I paid. Instead I got a lemon. Despite being the most expensive one, the secondary heat exchanger literally burst with corrosion after only 4 yrs. I had it serviced every year. Meant to last 15-20 years. It literally spews out acid and carbon monoxide over the system and onto the floor. They are not accountable for their quality and do not give an explanation. Lennox will never replace the furnace but want the whole thing stripped down, and don’t care about collateral damage. I will not be looking at Lennox again.

REASONS TO NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM LENNOX OR CRISAFULLI BROTHERS. Below is a four page timeline of warranty issues, cover ups, "training opportunities," communication issues and poor customer service on the part of Lennox and their local sales reps. Based on my experience with them, their lack of follow through, lack of an appropriate response to our situation, their inability to say "We're sorry" or "How we can make this right," I will never buy from either of them again or recommend them. On their website, they "guarantee outstanding customer service," their actual practice of dealing with customers couldn't be farther from the truth.
8/15/20 COVERUP #1: WITHHOLDING INFO THAT EXPERTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT. Salesperson will give you a proposal for a new AC system but never once mention you will need protection from rodents because rodent damage is not covered by the warranty.
8/15/20: TRAINING OPPORTUNITY #1 DISHONESTY AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR. A year later, the salesperson said on the phone (8/20/21) that yes, it would be a good idea going forward to mention this in their sales pitch and; their head technician, after saying how great interdepartmental communication was and how they don’t work in a silo, contradicted him on the phone (8/24/21) saying that it was never their responsibility! Really? What about doing the right thing? Why is it ok to withhold information that would benefit the customer?
8/15/20 HUSTLE #1: LACK OF OVERSIGHT AND COMMUNICATION. Cost Proposal will include a “Quality Audit” that was never performed and for which there is no description of what it is, who does it, or proof that it was done.
8/15/20 HUSTLE #2: WITHHOLDING REQUESTED INFO. The cost proposal was not done as a line item - just one lump sum so that buyer does not know what they are paying for.
8/18/20 COVERUP #2: WITHHOLDING WARRANTY INFORMATION Salesperson offered to complete warranty registration paperwork but never provided us with the warranty until a year later, and only after numerous emails (4?) and phone calls (2) to mfg and dealer.
8/13/21- TRAINING OPPORTUNITY #2 LINE STAFF DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO NECESSARY WARRANTY INFO, NOR DO THEY KNOW HOW TO GET IT. When I called Crisbro to request information, Briann in billing first said the warranty registration is still open! I said how can that possibly be when Cyle said he would do the paperwork? She said she would transfer me to the warranty dept but actually transferred me to her own voicemail instead and the line went dead. She called me back to say she would email me the registration info which is also the warranty info. I said no, they are two different things and she said she didn’t know the difference. So, she put me on hold and said she would check with installation dept.
She returned to say that she will send me a copy of the invoice and registration info and email Cyle directly and ask him to contact me right away. I said that I had received those but still don’t have written legal warranty document. I forwarded my “Dustin email” asking for the warranty info to Cyle (since Dustin never answered it) and asked him to call me at his earliest convenience.
8/13/21 CS TRAINING OPPORTUNITY#1 UNFRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. 4:30 P.M. After 35” hold I am talking with Javier at lennox who asked for model and sn’s and then said the company should have sent me the registration info. He had to put me on hold to find the documentation for these units. He explained that he had to put in a request to have these docs emailed to me. When I explained that the dealer did not provide any of these for 10 months and that I wasn’t happy, I asked for comment. Crickets. “They should have given that to you.” When I said lennox and dealers were like the wall of blue that police have, sticking up for one another, again crickets. He was not personable or helpful. Very robotic.
RECEIVED REGISTRATION INFO 10 MONTHS LATE FROM BRIENNE, CYLE, (8/16) AND LENNOX. THIS PROVES THEY DON’T COMMUNICATE.
INACCURATE INVOICING: Invoice # ** (received 10 months late on 8/13) only has two indoor evaporator units, should be three.
Inability to discern difference between real warranty and a description of it, strongly suggesting that they willfully kept it hidden for nefarious purposes. Cyle sent this “warranty” on 8/16.
AVOID RESPONSIBILITY PURPOSEFULLY. Sean ** inspected wiring system on 10/5 because we called about an error code. No mention of mice then or what to do about them should we get them. Later when we tried complained about mice being their responsibility, they claimed that annual inspection was the way to deal with that.
THEY DON’T CARRY SPARE PARTS FOR WHAT THEY SELL AND CAN’T GET THEM FOR TWO MONTHS (SINCE JULY 24) AND COUNTING… 48 days as of today, 9/11.
Lennox "customer service" dept ignored my email appeal four times and still have not responded to legitimate questions about the lack of quality service. I obtained a case # ** on July 26 see attached email from Selena S.
Lennox customer service builds a wall between customer by using form letter statements to respond to my original request to deal with the pest problem. They said to deal with the issue I need to do annual inspections - on a new unit! Illogical. Impractical. What a joke!
Staff are slow to respond if they respond at all, and respond with empty promises to do something helpful. A month later and we were still waiting for help. Dustin ** ignored my email #1 to him with suggestions for ways to address the problem. Asked for more time to speak to management. We waited over a week, no response, called and left message on a Thursday to return call, got a call back the following Tuesday. Email #2 of August 13 to Dustin asked for the paperwork that we had asked corporate for, and asked Crisbro office staff for and still had not received.
CRISBRO REFUSES TO GIVE ITEMIZED INVOICES SO THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR. See 8/16 email from Cyle.
CRISBRO saleforce ignores reasonable requests for information despite repeated emails.
Crisbro staff do not communicate clearly or with one another enough to coordinate the dissemination of info requested by the customer. E.g., 8/17 email from Cyle stating he would send all paperwork and manuals and implying that he had the parts when he didn’t.
WARNING LANGUAGE IS PRINTED ALL OVER THE ACTUAL WARRANTY. It outlines what the consumer must do to satisfy the warranty and be in compliance. It would appear that this info was withheld by the vendor to put us at a disadvantage should a warranty issue ever arise.
LENNOX DOES NOT HONOR THEIR OWN WARRANTY. Coverage explicitly states that parts will be covered due to a manufacturing defect. Building a Unit that allows rodents to infest the unit is defective; so too is not alerting the customer to this possibility so that something could be done proactively.
COVERUP #3: CRISBRO WILL SEND A USED UNIT AND CLAIM THAT IT IS NEW. They installed a unit that was built in 12/19. Another contractor called the manufacturer on our behalf. It COULD BE older (09) since there is confusion as to what S/SN to use.
In summary, while there may be a few good people in both Lennox and Crisafulli Brothers, their overall poor customer service, culture of obfuscation and deceit, lack of communication between and among their own staff, the customer and the parent company, Lennox, adds up to my never wanting anything to do with either company ever again.

I had this heat pump and air handler installed on 10/13/21. Previously I had a Trane unit which lasted 18 years with hardly any issues. I decided to give Lennox a try because of the name recognition and good reviews. Wow, I am really disappointed with this unit as it did not work from the day it was installed. After the installer left the air did not stop at our intended target of 77 degrees and it was under 70 degrees when we woke up in the morning. I tried shutting down the unit but it wouldn't turn off. Tried putting on the heat but that didn't work. Another technician came out on Saturday and said the wiring was not installed properly and tried correcting the error. Well, at the end he said it was the board that was damaged and they needed to order the new part. A new unit should not be allowed to come out of production with these type of damages. A new board, REALLY? I should have gone with Trane and regret my decision at this time.

We purchased our Lennox Mini Splits five years ago. Our city offered a nice rebate program as did the chain warehouse we purchased it from. Win Win, or so we thought! We have four headers for our tri-level home. We were told that the one Lennox heat pump could handle up to four units running at the same time. Do they really? NO. We have found that we can only run two header units at the same time. With four units on, efficiency diminishes to the point of uselessness. However, the worst is this: Lennox makes a very unreliable mini split system. We have now had two repairs within five years.
The first repair was needed two years after installation. The heat pump fan was incredibly noisy. I thought that was 'normal'. I inquired about why this was so and was told it likely needed to be replaced. Once the fan was replaced, it ran quietly. It was apparent then that the original heat pump fan was defective. Of course, after two years, everything was Out of Warranty. The cost to repair fan and then drain and refill fluid? $700!!
The second repair was for a special part that is a pressure valve (or something called that)..that failed. It only affected one header unit in our bedroom. The other three still worked. Replacing that part also required draining all of the fluid, weighing it and replacement. The total bill for that was over $1,300! Five years and two expensive repairs. Remember too, that yearly professional maintenance is recommended.
Each time a repair has to be done on the outside heat pump, fluid must be drained and refilled. That is the most expensive part. Be sure when you decide to purchase a mini split system to do your homework. Our Heating/AC repair guy said from what he knows, the brand, 'Carrier' is the most reliable. Apparently there can be issues with other brands, too. But my neighbor has a 'Mitsubishi' and has not had any problems, even after four years. If you need four header units, inquire about installing a second heat pump.

We had Lennox HVAC systems installed in late 2015 (downstairs) and 2016 (upstairs). They have both required new coils and yearly Freon. Random issues resulting in no summer AC in our Arkansas home occur several times each season. Both icomfort thermostats have been replaced. Parts, thus far, have been under warranty, though labor and Freon have cost us over $1500 a year. So far this summer, both units have been charged, we’ve had a leak test, a fan motor has gone out, and today the blower motor has gone out. As soon as the warranty ends, we’ll have no choice but to replace. Absolute garbage that cost over $30,000, and thousands each year just to keep it running - which it doesn’t for weeks at a time while we wait for parts. I guess HE means you save on utility bills because it just doesn’t work during the hottest parts of the year.

Lennox moderated reviews on their own website. I encourage you to attempt to post a review before even buying a product. They will state any reviews talking about customer service or defective equipment will be removed!! Because of how the Google algorithm works the rating for Lennox provided by google is based on their own moderated reviews and entirely unreliable. I thought I was getting a product rated 4/5 stars only to find out that isn't true.
I can sum up all Lennox reviews with my experience. I had heard Lennox used proprietary parts that were often hard to obtain quickly unlike the other manufacturers where parts were interchangeable. This gives the illusion that Lennox has a superior product but I'm not certain this is true. They have a class action lawsuit about defective coils. 1 month after my brand new Lennox unit was installed the evaporator coil cracked. I live in Texas and this happened in the height of summer essentially making my house unlivable. Lennox does not have this particular coil in stock and can't ship out a new one for weeks.
I'm basically in a situation where I can't get a new unit because I just paid for this one, and my installer can't get any other coil because they have to use a Lennox one. Lennox won't let my installer use any of the other Lennox coils they have in the warehouse. I think Lennox is fine, the proprietary parts issue coupled with the excessive number of coil failures well documented on the internet is a big issue. You are essentially playing Russian roulette by buying one of their systems. I don't really see the benefit of them over a Trane or Carrier where this wouldn't be an issue.
One aspect of customer service I also found to be poorly thought out - consumer customer service does not talk to the warranty department. The warranty department only talks to licensed HVAC companies. If you call consumer customer service they can't tell you when your coil will ship or give you any updates, and if you call the warranty department they won't talk to you. I found that a little absurd. I don't think I'd buy a Lennox again after this experience.

Parts were covered but not the labor which is ridiculously high. 2016 Blower motor had to be replaced. 2020 Thermostat failed plus the TXV unit (whatever that is) failed. 2021 blower motor failed again on Friday afternoon and parts were not available until Monday afternoon because supply house was closed and repair company does not carry spares. It was a hot weekend. The Tech man stated that the blower motors all fail within 2 - 3 years and are only covered under the original warranty. After that the cost will increase by at least $1,000. Total replacement cost over 7 years for warranty parts was $1,975. No response from Lennox. I will never use another Lennox product or recommend it to anyone else plus will stop using the Installation company that sold the poor quality product to me.

Needed a new Compressor and Freon because it leaked out and had acid in it! Again Freon not covered $700! Just fixed on Monday and now two days later it stops cooling again! Freon leaked out. Another coil is bad. Tried calling Lennox to get some money back for Freon. Was on hold for over an hour to be told, "We don’t cover Freon as part of our warranty." Well, your faulty products made me have to refill the Freon so it should be a covered part. I’m beyond upset and if I ever buy a new system it will NOT be a Lennox! I promise you that!

I never write reviews! And I rarely read them b/c I always feel they tend to fall into two categories: a reviewer writes an overly positive in exchange for some kickback, or a reviewer writes a spitefully negative one. So which is this one? A therapeutic one ... my last effort in dealing with this problem(s). I bought these units (2) on the recommendation of the installer eight years ago. In the course of the 8 years I have to replace the evaporate on both units, and the fan and motor on one unit. The evaporated issue was part of a class-action lawsuit that I found out about too late, Lennox was not willing to help me out issue ... Bad timing, but no good faith effort on Lennox part. The installer felt bad and only charged me for the parts, so the extra cost me was another $2k.
The motor+fan is another bad design decision by Lennox. The motor which is typically a $200 part on most A/C unit was designed in such a way that you can't replace the motor without the plastic fan. So in Lennox world the replacement part jumps to $700. I am guessing the second unit will have the same problem shortly. My recommendation is to stay away from this brand. I recommended the installer to a friend and as the industry works, the installer of course also pushed Lennox. After talking to him, he experienced similar failures with his Lennox units. Good luck, and I hope your experiences are better than mine.

April 2021 - had to have an entire brand new indoor coil installed on the A/C system - the 7 year-old coil had sprang a freon leak. I have written to their "Consumer Affairs" Department and sent them all of the repair receipts. Not a peep from them. Crickets. Lennox is a cheap brand. Poor engineering. Poor quality control. I have had the installing company out on several occasions and have had them listen to the noise(I record it). They have installed a new shroud twice (the most recent in December) saying that is what is causing the noise and it still is not fixed.
I had someone from a company listen to the sound and he told me that it sounded like the bearings or something else was loose and knocking, When I told the installing company they said that was not the problem. How come, I as the legal owner have NO control of the equipment I OWN. What does it matter if I return and exchange the part? What does it matter to Lennox what I actually do with the new part? Surely it’s up to me how I use my warranty part? I understand there will be NO warranty on new part if a “non accredited HVAC tech." does the job.
Bottom line is. Why do I have NO say or input on the product (which I own) part warranty which I paid for? Do I not have any rights on this $1500.00 part. How in all that is holy does it cost $3000.00 to change said compressor? I was quoted $3000.00 to change the whole heat pump for another make. Maybe I should dump the Lennox product completely. Specifically, on December 05, 2015, I went to Home Depot to purchase a new Lennox Air Conditions/Heat System, with an SEER of 21. This was essentially the top of the lone model in which I invested approximately $11,000.00 for the purchase and installation of a completely new Lennox system in my house. Included with this investment, was a Lennox “iComfort Wi-Fi Universal 7-day Programmable Modulating/Multistage heat/cool/auto w/ humidity Internet accessible.” Model: 103445-04, Serial Number: WS15J03170. Long story short, the aforementioned Lennox IComfort Thermostat has become inoperable within the past two (2) weeks, thus, I have no heat. This is problematic, as me and my wife are both disabled, and in our sixties.
The following authorized Lennox service company was contacted: Cochran, (770) 648-2804, **, located in the Atlanta, Georgia area for service. The aforementioned Lennox iComfort Thermostat was determined to be defective as the display screen has progressed to a totally blank screen over the past two (2) weeks. Troubleshooting solutions were attempted, with no success. Thus, I was informed by “Alex,” the Parts Manager for Cochran that the Lennox iComfort Thermostat required replacement. Although the Lennox iComfort Thermostat is still covered under a five (5) year parts warranty, I would be responsible for any labor charges incurred to replace the defective Lennox iComfort Thermostat.
Upon Cochran contacting Lennox in Dallas, Texas, it was determined that this Lennox iComfort Thermostat is no longer available, as it is no longer manufactured. Therefore, the defective unit would have to be replaced with a newer version of Lennox Thermostat. I believe it may be the “S” model? Yet, after “Alex” ordered the replacement Lennox Thermostat, order number: 0031730438, he was informed by Lennox that this newer replacement Lennox Thermostat was currently unavailable, due to a back order status, with shipment not expected until on or about December 01, 2020. Moreover, although I would incur no charge for the upgrade, which includes a new “hub” and/or circuit board, it would cost me $297.00 in labor fees due to additional wiring and time.
In the meantime, I contacted Lennox Customer Service and Lennox Consumer Affairs Department several times, Case Numbers: **. The intention was to determine if Lennox could place a priority on the replacement Lennox Thermostat as I have no heat availability without a functional Lennox Thermostat. This proved futile. I essentially got the run-around, and Consumer Affairs Department (Katheryn) was unsympathetic, insensitive, and basically had a could less attitude. I even requested to speak a supervisor, in which “Katheryn” connected me, and I received a voice mail, leaving a detailed message, along with a return telephone number. To date, the supervisor has failed to call me or Cochran to coordinate/expedite replacement. Moreover, I was placed on “hold” for over one (1) hour waiting to be connected to the Lennox Consumer Affairs Department.
In conclusion, I am very disappointed and upset the way I was treated by Lennox personnel. Additionally, no progress has been made to obtain a replacement Lennox Thermostat, and I’m back to square zero. This is perplexing and not customer friendly, and sends a negative image of Lennox on backing their warranty products.
I am therefore requesting that you please direct this e-mail to upper management to inform them of exactly how their customers are being treated. I’m sure this attitude will eventually have a negative effect on Lennox sales and their image. Additionally, I am requesting intervention in resolving this matter, especially since I have no heat with a non-functional defective Lennox iComfort Thermostat. Hopefully someone further up the chain will be able to assist me and the Lennox service dealer, Cochran, in obtaining the newer Lennox Thermostat in a expedited manner.

We bought a Lennox central air conditioner system (model number XC14S036-230A09) in August 2016 from a contractor in Montreal, Quebec. In both June and September 2019 the unit stopped working. According to the contractor, the refrigerant had escaped because there was a leak in the system. He refilled the system with refrigerant and, as it was late in the year, he told us to contact him in April 2020, to do a nitrogen split test on the compressor. This was done and we're told there was a leak in a location that could not be repaired. A new compressor was supplied and fitted under warranty in May, and we were told the unit was working properly.
On July 28, 2020 the unit stopped working again, at the start of an extended period of high heat and humidity in Montreal. We were now told the inside coil had to be changed; we waited for over five weeks in the high heat and humidity for a new coil to arrive under warranty. The contractor was not able to tell us where exactly the leak was, or how it could be found. He referred us to Lennox, and we contacted their corporate customer care team in Texas. They asked us to send all the invoices, which we did. We also asked two questions:
1. What are the industry practices for finding a leak in the system?2. What is the toxicity of the refrigerant gas we may have been inhaling if the leak is inside the house.
They came back to us with a generic and non-committal reply saying that after they sell their units to the contractors, they have no responsibility except for supplying defective parts under warranty. They referred us back to the contractor and did not answer either of the two questions we had asked. We have spent over two thousand dollars since 2019 for refrigerant and labor costs, but the more important concern for us is that we may have been inhaling the refrigerant all this time if the leak was inside. Based on this experience, we are very disappointed with Lennox. As we have no confidence in the system we will not use it anymore, and we will certainly not buy any more Lennox products.

Now 2 years later 9/2020 I am having to replace the motors on the fan units. I never had a single issue with my Carrier units in the 18yrs they were in service....not one. Let me emphasize this, BOTH OF MY NEW LENNOX "ELITE" UNITS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME! Two years into service and my new Lennox "Elite" units need to have the fan motors replaced.
The service tech who comes out to repair the units tells me he carries no less than 6 replacement motors in his truck on any given day. He said the fan motors are junk. He said in the last ten years he has replaced dozens and dozens of fan motors. He said the motors for ALL HVAC manufacturers are made by one company in China. He said it doesn't matter if it's a Carrier, Lennox, Goodman or Trane. If they were manufactured in the last ten years they all use the same motor on the fan. He said the motor burn out is a known issue by the HVAC contractors who sell the systems. They make a huge mark up on the system units and could care less if the units have defective motors. The contractors get a discount on the replacement motors they sell back to the consumer. In my case each motor cost me $380 dollars each. I asked the service tech to leave the old motors with me and he said he couldn't because they must turned in by the contractor.
It would be nice to know how many consumers have been sold HVAC units over the last several years with defective motors. Only later to have to replace the defective motor on their dime. In my case 24 months later. If this were an automobile manufacturer there would be a mass recall. The manufacturers would be issuing a rebate to consumers to pay for the cost of replacing the defective motor. Dear Consumers, please respond to my comment so me and my attorney can begin collecting data in a effort to file a class action lawsuit against these unscrupulous AC manufactures. I would like to hear similar stories about new HVAC systems installed in the last few years. Especially about defective fan motors.

A couple of months later our AC stopped cooling again and had to pay another service fee and this time they found the leak in the evaporator coil. The system is still under warranty, but you still have to pay labor and Freon which in this case was over $1,500 in total. I will never recommend a Lennox to anyone I know.

Installed in 1999. My new supposedly high premium Lennox systems were installed by Brett A/C in Naples FL and have been a true nightmare. In the last 18 months, I have replaced 2 coils, 3 evaporator motors and counting. The charges so far have been around $4,000 and also counting just for the labor. There was a class action lawsuit for systems dating back to 2007 thru July 2015, but only paid for first five years despite 10 year parts warranty. I was clearly sold a lemon and was not informed by Lennox or the installer about the problems dating back 7 years before my purchase.

Glad it happen before the warranty of the parts expired which will be this November but nevertheless we had to pay a huge amount of the labor and freon. We had at our last house a 23-year-old Carrier unit in which out of those 23 years we had it for 12 years living in that house. I replaced a 21 year old Carrier unit when I was having the roof replaced. Thought it was a good time to replace the unit with a more efficient unit as it was getting old. What a mistake. The first issue started in about 2 weeks. The unit was very loud and would shake so bad it would rattle the dishes in out cupboards. It took several service calls before they traced it to a bad fan. Fan was replaced under warranty but only lasted a year before it went bad. Replaced again and lasted 1 week. The insulation inside the unit fell down and blocked the airflow. The next item was the capacitor. Now the coil has a leak and they want $1,200 in labor (only the part is covered under warranty) and refrigerant. Looking to buy a new unit, but is sure won't be a Lennox.

My Lennox system, which is just over a year old, has been a huge disappointment and has been very problematic. My first complaint was with the condenser, (the outside unit). I live in a condo complex and this condenser is the noisiest one in the community. The people at Lennox take no responsibility other than giving you a case number when you call to complain. The local dealer is responsible for all issues. The dealer seemed unable to do much of anything to lessen the noise. If the motor starts up as you walk past it, your heart literally skips a beat from the huge banging sound it makes turning on. Once it is operating, it sounds like a massive food processor. Horribly noisy and very embarrassing to have this thing banging and clanging in my community. I paid for the system and clearly had no recourse.
I accepted my lot in life with this awful system hoping it would continue to work for as long as possible. I live in Florida where we already have very hot weather. That was until last night. At midnight the system was cooling, the thermostat was set to 76 degrees and the family went to bed. At 4:30 in the morning we woke up sweating. It was 89 degrees and the heat was running.
Fortunately, I was able to get the Lennox tech here this afternoon. As soon as I told him what had happened he knew the problem. It seems there are wires that cross in the air handler and short out the system causing the heat to go on automatically. Seemingly an easy fix, but not a free one. What caused the wires to suddenly short out seems a mystery. No guarantee that it won't happen again although the technician assured me he had moved them far enough apart to hopefully prevent a recurrence. Save yourself the trouble of looking into Lennox if you are considering a new or replacement air conditioning system. I live in fear of the next problem and the next repair bill.

Less than 12 months after closing on our new home, the evaporator coil was bad in the Air Handler model CBX27UH-042-230-6-04. Lennar took care of the first replacement coil because we were inside of our 12 month home warranty (October 2017).
In September 2018 the evaporator coil had to be replaced again because it was leaking again! This time Del-Air said we would be getting an all aluminum evaporator coil as a replacement. They LIED! Del-Air installed a coated copper/steel coil on October 3, 2018. This coated coil lasted until June 04, 2019 when our home wasn’t cooling properly again. This time we hired Terry Strickland from Polar Express to help us. What a mistake that was! He charged us $536 and told us our coil is leaking again without even checking it. He recommended we try a leak sealer that he charged us $149 for and also charged us $288 for the 410A to top off our unit.
In late February, 2020, when temperatures were in the 40’s, our Lennox system would NOT heat our home! I noticed the condenser outside would not energize to run the heat pump. We called Bayonet Plumbing and AC to come check our system. We were told the condenser was shorted out. Model 14HPX-036-230-19. It tripped the breaker and would not power up. We were told it would cost $1509 just for the labor to replace the condenser! At this same time my wife was a week out of spine surgery and recovering at home. The temperature in central Florida was approaching 90 degrees and we had no AC! The tech Kassidy from Bayonet told us he put a rush on the parts. More than 24 hours passed and we didn’t hear from Bayonet at all.
My wife and I hired Duncan’s Air Conditioning and Heating Inc to give us an estimate on a new TRANE system as well as an estimate for the condenser replacement. Duncan’s estimate for the condenser replacement was >$300 less than Bayonet’s estimate! We ultimately decided to replace the complete TRASH LENNOX unit that we’ve had nothing but problems with since buying our new home. Every AC tech that had been to our home to service the Lennox told us that Lennox units are the worst in the industry and they have absolutely nothing but PROBLEMS! Every home in our new community has a Lennox unit installed, some bigger homes have two units! Every one of them have problems.
We are among the top 2% smart enough to replace the crappy Lennox unit with a Trane!!! The Trane comes with an all aluminum coil. Something Lennox still hasn’t figured out! We’re not happy about being completely ripped off by Lennox! We bought a new home in October 2016 and by March 2020 we had to replace the entire AC/ Heat Pump system!!!! Unbelievable Lennox!!! We rarely use the upstairs and have not experienced any problems with that unit other than it is very loud when it switches off and on. The downstairs unit has had to be recharged with Freon every year. After raising these issues with our builder, he wiped his hands of it and said we had to take it up with Lennox. The coils were replaced in September 2019 under the parts only warranty and we had to pay the $650 labor cost.
This week we had 2 different HVAC companies inspect the units in preparation for the return of warmer temps. Both companies identified low Freon by as much as 30-40% low. The fiberglass sheet under the blower is also breaking down and causing an ash-like substance coming out of the vents and there is a buildup of mold inside the blower housing unit! I am aware of the 2015 class action suit, but I am appalled that any judge would agree to bar future consumers from bringing a class action suit against a company that knowingly continues to sell poorly manufactured equipment! Where is the consumer protection in that? If builders are using the cheapest well known units that ultimately end up costing the homeowner aggravation and more money in the long run, then we should be able to avail ourselves! Lennox heat pumps are junk and they should not be allowed to continue business as usual while knowingly selling consumers defective equipment!

Of course Lennox have me their scripted answer about how they have suppliers to blame but I told them I didn't purchase this product from their suppliers. I purchased it from Lennox. It has their name and reputation attached. Never again. Learned my lesson. They use parts purchased by every company that produced these products so don't spend the money for the Lennox name.

My thermostat panel stated that it was unable to connect with the system and thus the heat got turned off. I contacted their service phone number as stated on the panel. They were ZERO help and stated I had to call the installer. Then why do they have the phone number on the panel if they are not going to provide any assistance? And of course this is at night so the installer is not available and no one will be home during the day for the next 3 days as we have to work.

Leaking coil 3 months post purchase. Likely selling same defective coils they were sued over. Read multiple internet reviews and lawsuit before you purchase any Lennox product. Check which HVAC system your builder is installing. Worse part about Lennox is their customer service; rude and dismissive. Remember - Why would they care; you have already bought their system. People have to put time and effort into reviewing a company; so they must be pretty dissatisfied with a product. Do not ignore the warnings from Lennox customers.

In 2015 we opted to purchase the top of the line Lennox HVAC XC25 premium line model. The dealer however was terrible, sizing the unit incorrectly. Fortunately we discovered it before they actually installed the equipment. When Lennox Industries Corporate got involved as we had to take the dealer to the State HVAC licensing board, where we won!, Yet lost at the same time. Lennox simply lackluster in their help, wanted us to sign a waiver of litigation against the dealer in order to offer any assistance. We did not do it. We kept the system and installed it 2 years later in a second section of our home after buying a complete new system made by Trane from another dealer.
2 years later we installed the Lennox into our construction second phase. Again Lennox Industries Corporate, Leslie ** (as of this writing still with Lennox), continued to fail us miserably. The other terrible staff, Richard ** and Paul ** (both no longer employed at Lennox) simply did nothing to help, even though the dealer was forced to be retrained by the State of NC in order to keep their license.
Today, 2 years after the installation of the system the thermostat went out, and while the part was warranted, the repair was not due to Lennox having changed the model of thermostats for that system. The change caused us to pay $570 in in warrantied costs due simply as a result of the change of model. The new model required new programming and new wiring not covered by their warranty. You were rather than changing the model to one which was compatible to an existing connection, they upgraded which was fine if they would pick up the cost of the install of the upgrade to the new wiring. But they won't. So instead of simply plugging in a new thermostat which they indeed covered, we were FORCED to pay $570 due to their upgrading their technology which required wiring and programming.
They won't update the start date of the warranty either which takes it from 10 to closer to 7, thermostats only 5. Lots of BS. Their response.... "Sorry the wiring is not covered." This company is horrible to deal with. This company is horrible to deal with. It starts from the head and trickles down to their customer service staff. Ultimately only hurting the consumer.

I purchased a Lennox furnace and AC unit for my home in October 2014. During this time and unknown to me, Lennox had a lot of problems with leaking coils and finally had a class action suit brought against them. I ran my AC in 2015 and 2016. Then it was completely out of freon. I had it filled and it ran for 2 more summers, then was completely empty again. The cost of filling and looking for the leak was expensive both times. After reading about all of the complaints and dealing with the incredibly rude Lennox warranty department I have decided to junk this 5 year old AC unit and buy a good product from another company.
The biggest problem is that even if I went through the hassle of getting a new part under my warranty, I still need to pay for the labor. To date I have spent 1200 on my new AC and the estimate to replace a part is another 1200. I refuse to spend 2400 plus on this new AC unit that is a poorly built unit-- that Lennox knew about but continued selling. The repair might not even fix the problem. I have read many reviews where Lennox customers paid to repair only to have the second part be defective as well. Unfortunately I learned too late that Lennox has become a bad product and they are skating on their past, and I mean way past good reputation.

Words cannot express the amount of disappointment I've experienced with my Lennox air conditoner. In the span of 5 years, I've had to replace it 2 times. I replaced it in 2015 & 2019. I've spent too much money to have so many issues. The time frame in which the air conditioner has malfunction is unacceptable. When I chose Lennox, I never thought I would have so many complications and experience such lack of customer service. I had so many options when chosing an air conditioner and made the wrong choice. I will never recommend Lennox. I know I would only be setting them up for failure.

Purchased home in 2009, the Lennox was brand new. Started having A/C problems after just less than 5 years. Warranty covered new compressor, we had to pay labor plus new Freon, I discovered then that Lennox had shipped this unit in 2009 with Freon 22 which was being taxed extremely high to cause people to cease using. Had to go back with the same type so the cost for a compressor replacement still under warranty was out the roof. We then had to replace the entire system inside and outside. $7200.+. First summer we have had about six (6) evaporator coil freeze-ups. Now we are getting some cooler weather the problems have shifted from cooling to heating. Outside unit freezing up. I purchased a brand new townhouse from Pulte Homes in December, 2013 at the Crown community in Gaithersburg, MD. That was just over five years ago, and it came with a brand new Lennox heating and cooling system. I was recently notified by my tenant that the A/C unit is no longer working. It turns out that the condensing unit outside was leaking freon. But wait, that's not all. The system has an evaporator coil inside the house that was also leaking freon. Please forgive me if I am not getting the terminology exactly right; I am a consumer and not a service technician. All I know for sure is that that not one, but two pricey Lennox products had failed in just over five years!
The first thing I did was contact Lennox customer service where I was informed that the builder never bothered to register the unit(s) with the manufacturer. It seems that the product comes with a standard five-year parts warranty and an extra five if you go online, tell them who you are and where you live--apparently an important distinction. I then wrote a detailed letter to the CEO of Lennox, some guy named Todd M. Bluedorn in Texas. I explained what was going on with our A/C and that I purchased the townhouse fresh out of the wrapper and that the builder purchased the HVAC system as well as the doors, faucets, appliances, flooring, light fixtures, etc. I purchased a home. By the way, the guy makes over $7 million per year, more than I've earned in my entire life!
Anyway, he didn't even bother to answer my letter!!! Rather, he kicked it over to their customer service division, the very same people whom I had already contacted, and they shot me an email telling me that I was out of luck. This response, of course, did not sit well. Moreover, I am disappointed that multiple Lennox units had failed in the first place! $4,000 later, my air conditioning is up and running with a brand new system from Bryant, a division of Carrier. I was very careful to ensure that the units were properly registered. But as I explained to Mr. Bluedorn, I will never do business with Lennox again so long as I live. Their products are woefully unreliable and their customer service is abysmal. Incidentally, I had an almost identical problem with a company called York, coil leaking just at the five-year mark, and after writing to their CEO, they were very pleased to send a new coil.
Hey, when you are dealing with equipment, stuff happens. The real measure of a good company is what happens after there is a problem--thankfully most companies do stand behind their product. Companies that do not, companies like Lennox, well, my advice is: Stay Away!!! Having read through the ConsumerAffairs reviews, one can see that scores of Lennox consumers have been similarly mistreated. I guess customer service is largely irrelevant when your accounts include the likes of Home Depot and Costco, and when you are making $7M per annum without having to. But you've lost me as a customer. Best of luck!!!

Despite multiple requests and civility, this company does not respect appointment commitments. They left the wooden forms for the concrete pad and did not remove them; three of the four legs of the unit only make contact with the pad; air does not blow well into the bedrooms, etc. Lesson learned - like buying automobiles, I've also learned not to underestimate the value (or lack thereof) of the company's service providers.

I had 2 units installed almost 11 years ago. Install was done in November 2008. While the units cost was high they had a good rating. Now I am changing my mind! Not on the unit but on Lennox. The condensing coil was replace 1 year 3 weeks ago. The unit was still under the 10 year warranty by a couple of month. Cost was only labor. The coil started to leak again last week 1 year 3 weeks after it was replaced. I contacted the dealer and he said it should not have done this but I would have to reach out to Consumer Affairs at Lennox.
Here is the FINE print. If a part is replace under warranty the part assumes the warranty of that unit. If you have 1 day left on the warranty that is what your part is warrantied for! If you replace it after the warranty you get a 1 year 5 year or a 10 year warranty on the coil. While I get that the coil was PAST THE 1 YEAR no one nor can I find anything that says that the part assumes the original warranty. Nor do I care at this point. It is known that Lennox has issues with the coil and everyone assumed the issues are resolved. Be very careful when choosing what unit you have installed. Might want to look for a company that stands behind their Warranty/products. Anyone can warranty anything but how they handle it in a time of need is something totally different.

Then it turns on the air conditioner and cools the house down to to say 65 degrees. There is cold air coming out of the vents. Then it heats the house back up to 72 degrees. Lennox STILL selling the faulty coils that THEY KNOW fail (see the Lennox Coil lawsuit settled 2015). Please read this lawsuit before you buy any HVAC. I wish I had been informed. Bought 2 units. AC Coil (CH33) leaked after first summer of use. $ 2,600 out of my pocket for labor diagnosing and resolving the leaking coil. Customer Service is non-existent. Any self respecting HVAC company would not sell Lennox. Companies that do sell Lennox do so because they know the coils will fail over and over and, therefore, they make a lot of money from you in service calls (only Lennox Dealers can buy the parts; so you cannot use your reputable, independent HVAC agent who probably would have told you not to buy Lennox in the first place).
Reputable Dealers I spoke with in Dallas have stopped selling Lennox because of the faulty coils; since these coils have cost them so much money out of pocket; as they "do the right thing" by their customers and fix the coils free of charge that fail within the first few years (i.e. they eat the labor costs). Do your research online, speak to reputable HVAC companies in your area that ARE NOT Lennox Dealers (so they are unbiased) before you purchase a Lennox system. Too late for me; but I hope I can help someone else from multiple expensive repairs. Bottom line - avoid Lennox Brand completely.

Based on what I've read, the problem continues. If this is happening to you, be sure to file a complaint against Lennox with your local Attorney General's office. Can't hurt to get the paper trail going with local government agencies. Lennox knows exactly what is going on and is not going to voluntarily admit any wrongdoing. The proof is the replacement frequency being supplied in court regarding the units in questions. They can't deny documented failure after failure in 2 or 3 years of service. I wish I could give zero stars, Lennox does not deserve even one star! Our builder installed Lennox units in our home, as many new home builders are doing here in Central Florida. Seriously, I think Lennox offered these bunk units at a discount and all the builders and installers are gobbling them up, with the promise of future problems resulting in warranty calls and service calls keeping everyone’s business thriving. We purchased our new home in April 2016, after the class action settlement.
Since closing, our A/C has failed every summer. We have replaced both coils, and now the “superior” coated coil (installed summer 2017) has a leak. I have service calls every few months when one of our units is not holding the correct temperature differential at the air handler and the A/C is not cooling properly. The diagnosis is always the same, pressure is off, we need Freon. $200 here, $300 there, and this is only when we add Freon. Let’s see if we have a leak, another $100-$200 for a leak test. Replacing the coil, well, I need to come up with an additional $600-$800 for that service call. This really adds up. So do I continue applying band aids, and paying my Freon dealer...no.
I need peace of mind that when the weather outside is 96 degrees and sunny, my A/C will be able to keep up with 76 degrees. Seriously, Lennox, should I really be out getting quotes for two new HVAC systems after 3.5 years? Well, I am. Every HVAC installer’s advice is the same, stay away from Lennox. Nothing but negative feedback from HVAC installers, neighbors having same problems. Stay away from Lennox. Customer service is inconsiderate and inadequate, units soon to become scrap! It’s been kind of a race to the bottom, oh by the way the whole coil problem was caused by the global warming hoax, new enviro-friendly refrigerant has pressure of 400+, compared to 200 in the old. Research Thomas vs Lennox Industries Inc. Lawsuit before you consider purchasing! Evaporatorcoillawsuit.com. Unfortunately I bought a Lennox AC unit from an affiliate Costco business partner in 2016. I trusted Costco because of their reputation. I spoke to a Costco representative and they actually knew about this lawsuit but continue to allow their affiliate business partner company to sell at their locations!
I was deemed ineligible for a settlement claim because my date purchase was not in the determined settlement time frame. Parts were under warranty but paid $1300 in labor. 7/9/19. The evaporator coil that was replaced was the same copper coils, no different than the ones that started leaking in 2.5 years. Because of the settlement, Lennox denies any defects or recalls so they continue to leak after “unreasonable” amount of time. See other reviews on this matter.
I write this review because of my distrust in Lennox and Costco and most importantly to inform consumers of what issues are continuing to arise with these evaporator coils even after settlement in 2015. If I knew about this lawsuit and its ongoing problems, I would have NEVER purchased a Lennox AC unit or refer 3 friends and family to purchase one through a Costco affiliate! Hopefully I provided knowledge and information to consumers to help make their own educated decision before thinking about purchasing a Lennox AC.

I originally purchased a brand new state-of-the-art Lennox AC 4 Ton, ECB40 Series Units, Dave Lennox Signature Collection XP25 System, Dave Lennox Signature Collection CBX32MV Units, on June 14, 2013. In the first year since purchased, I had over 24 logs service calls, which require being home for a minimum of a four hour window if not longer, and almost all of the parts were replaced if not multiple times. It got to the point where I brought in legal counsel, and was able to have the national Lennox account manager from Texas, Tim **, and the local Lennox Representative, Robert **, meet with Jimmy, the service tech from Rinaldi’s Air Conditioning (company who did the install and myriad of service calls) with me and my legal counsel at my house on July 25, 2014.
Tim ** immediately noticed that my air-conditioning handler was incorrectly installed, UPSIDE DOWN, which was causing the coolant, to short out and destroy the control panel, which in turn destroyed other parts of the machine. Hence the 24 service calls, and continuous replacement of multiple parts on every service call in the first year after install. Tim ** agreed to replace the air conditioning handler. In the immediate, subsequent, July‘s following install, the Blower Motor Fan has died like clockwork, error code 201 displayed on icomfort Wi-Fi Thermostat, after six months of use.
I do not run the heat in our cooler months here in Florida, I only utilize the air-conditioning during the warmer months, which is approximately six months out of the year. I have also had my house blown with insulation, directly into the 12 inch concrete block construction, and I have the original ceiling attic fan, so my house maintains a cooler temperature than other homes, therefore this unit is not being overly stressed. There is no reason for the blower motor fan on the top of the line, best in class, air-conditioning unit to die every six months. Every July, I have to reach out to a Lennox certified repair technician. The service calls range upwards of $700 for giving me a house call, an estimate, and labor. The parts, the Blower Motor Fan, are covered under warranty.
Each technician that has come to my house, has said the exact same thing to me. Tony, from AC services, and Terry, from 4 Seasons air, both have told me that this is a on going problem with Lennox. Friday, July 5, my air conditioning unit completely shut down yet again. Terry, who has done my most recent service call, highly suggested that he jimmy rig my unit and do a bypass overlay of the control panel to hopefully “Jimmy rig” and stop the cycle. He also suggested that I put a box fan, that you typically use to circulate air, stationary in a room, in your house, directly inside of my AC handler to push air through it.
I did not purchase a cheap, $2000, sold off the shelf in Walmart in bulk, unit. I specifically purchased what was touted and sold to me, by Rinaldi‘s air-conditioning, as being the very best in class. I believe in buying quality. Buying something once and buying it right. This has definitely not been the case in my situation, nor anyone else’s in the abundant negative reviews, giving a combined One Star rating, on Consumer Reports, regarding Lennox air-conditioning units. There was a lawsuit, that Lennox settled out of court, in 2015. Please help. There are way too many of us to be ignored, as Lennox is doing just that, to all of us.
They purposely disconnect the phone when I call in, they will leave me on hold to the point where the phone call disconnects on its own, and no one will email me back from Lennox home office in Texas. Just the facts: Purchased a Lenox AC System in April 2016 for $6995.00. This month, June 2019, 38 months after install, system stops cooling. Local repairman came out and added Freon, which was a warning sign of another larger issue. 48 hours later the system stopped cooling again. After two additional service calls they opened the air handler and the evaporator coils were heavily oxidized/corroded. Due to this it was leaking Freon from those coils.
Was told the next day that there are no replacement units available and there were already 22 on backorder with no delivery date. Some additional research on my own found that these units were/are part of a class action settlement because Lennox used uncoated copper on the coils. The replacements, if you can get one, are aluminum. I was sold the system after the class action had settled. Lennox knowingly allowed these units to stay on the market. Not sure how long my unit will be down, but it it looks like it could be down for a significant period. Class action lawsuit information can be found by a Google search of Thomas v. We bought a new Lennox a/c and furnace in August 2016. The system worked very well for two-plus years. In May 2019 the a/c stopped cooling. After two service calls the problem was found to be refrigerant leaking due to a faulty evaporator coil. Never expected such a major product problem in less than three years on a brand new system. We have been told the warranty will cover the replacement part (coil), but NOT the labor or supplies (refrigerant) to get the system back up and running right. The Lennox rep at the Customer Care call center confirmed Lennox will not cover labor or supplies. Cost to us will be about $1000. I also learned about the prior coil lawsuit and settlement involving Lennox.
We apparently are outside that time frame for labor costs, sullies, and new warranty to be covered under that. So this company appears to still be selling and not standing fully behind a product that they know or should know, from the prior lawsuit and settlement, is defective in a major way. Disgraceful! If you’re looking at installing a Lennox unit in your home, I would advise you to run away. There are far better alternatives (Trane, Carrier, etc) with companies that stand behind their products. A quick Google search will reveal a great number of people who have been “privileged” enough to experience the very short lifetime of a Lennox product. In fact, some people have replaced the evaporator coil two, three, four times, in only a 5 year period. Some people are “lucky” enough to get just 5 years out of their evaporator coil. Unfortunately, these people are out of luck as some coils seem to hobble to barely achieve a 5 year lifespan (which is less than half the life expectancy of other units in the industry). I am certain that the coils did not magically degrade to this condition over the last couple of months in which the unit was out of warranty.
Most reputable companies would step up and assist a customer in some form or fashion if they were aware of an issue with a certain generation of their products. Not Lennox! They are very proud of the poor quality items they continue to produce and sell to their customers. A brief look through their social media pages will also show you that they are happy with a “copy and paste” form of customer service in which CSRs utilize pre-fabricated responses instead of giving each case the individual attention it deserves. If you are looking for a new AC unit, give Lennox a hard pass. You’ll be glad you did.

Prior to reaching the standard 2 year warranty on the AC unit, I made sure it was checked for a leaking coil as a large portion of our 500 home community has had their coil fail, usually 2 weeks after warranty expires. The part is covered by Lennox but the labor is not and has cost people anywhere from $600-$1500 in repairs. It has happened so much that people have found a cheaper labor cost which is why the $600 is even on this review.
I was fortunate enough that mine was leaking enough to have it pulled and replaced because had it only shown signs of failure but hasn’t failed yet, they can’t pull it and replace it... leaving it out of warranty to fail! There was a class action lawsuit that was finalized in 2015. Our neighborhood had just begun construction that year, so none of ours could fall under the class action suit. The heat pump is suppose to working up till 40 degress outside and then the furnace kicks in afterwards, this was not so for her unit, the furnace was working all the time. For the first years of owning this unit her electrical bills doubled, so we requested a Lennox dealer to come to the house and inspect what's going on, they found many problems.
The Lennox dealer made many comments that this local company is not trained to service heat pumps. Why would you get in business with this company if you do not train them properly. This has cost my mom a lot of money and a lot of headaches, and all she got out of it was constant phone calls from their repersentives to take out their service contracts that does not cover their screw ups, they wanted her to pay for each time their guys were at the house for their screw ups.

I started researching and discovered a class action lawsuit against Lennox for defective evaporator coils on systems sold between 2007 to 2015. I have five HVAC systems between my home and business. Three of them are Lennox systems. The two Lennox systems I have at home were installed in 2014 and 2016. These two systems had evaporator coil leaks detected and repaired in April 2019 at a cost of $2000 for labor. Both evaporator coils were under the Lennox parts warranty but the labor warranty had expired after one year. The 2014 coil was included in a class action law suit which required Lennox to cover some of the labor costs. The 2016 coil was not included in the law suit but had the same problem as those coils included in the law suit.
I contacted Lennox to ask that they cover the labor of the 2016 coil replacement. They said I needed to buy the extended labor warranty. The logic of that puzzles me. You only need a labor warranty if a part fails. If the part doesn't fail, you don't need a labor warranty. If a company believes in their product, they should cover all costs associated with its failure. Hence the class action lawsuit (Tomas vs Lennox).
My takeaway from this is: Lennox is not the top tier that I thought it was or that advertising promotes. Lennox required a lawsuit to address a manufacturing problem and then choose to continue selling what I can only assume are evaporator coils with the same defect that generated the original class action lawsuit. Warranties need to be closely examined. I have two Goodman systems that are outperforming my Lennox systems in initial cost, overall performance and reliability.

It was poorly installed (fuel oil running out onto the floor from the outside filter forming a large pool on the floor 2 days after installation) and has repeatedly leaked fuel oil inside the furnace. Fuel oil drips from under the assembly. I have had the authorized dealer/service firm (McKean in Washington, Pa) in here multiple time to fix it, and it just continues to leak. In November of 2016, I spent a 3 week period largely without heat. I gave up every vacation day, personal day and sick day for that entire year to be off work so McKean could come in here nearly every day.
Got it started when they got here, only to have it stop, leaking oil and with the lockout light blinking in as little as an hour. They have replaced multiple parts. They put shims in to lift one side. They most recently (in the last 2 weeks) replaced the entire assembly. It still leaks. I have to remove the front and wipe fuel oil several times a day or the air filter gets soaked. Even so, the filter gets oil on it (from the top and bottom) and has to be replaced every several days or it stinks. The house smells like fuel oil.
I have contacted Lennox corporate several times. They refer me back to the dealer (who is now charging me for failed repairs, $300 the last time) and to the district rep (who is not only no use, but offers inappropriate comments - like not understanding why I am upset about this and that I need to confront their authorized dealer on this charges for failed repairs). I'm beginning to think that being an retired, unmarried woman may have something to do with why I am being ripped off and run over.
I paid $3,500 for this furnace 4 years ago, and have paid close to $600 more for failed repairs. I have never had a experience like this in my life. This has now gone on for the last 3.5 years, and the dealer has replaced the motor, several different sensors and probes, and a logic board. None of this has fixed the problem. Cheap product... add some varnish to the windings... They will last longer, but then your profit margins will dip to under 500%. At least stock them so customers in colder climates don't experience what we did. Shameful but everyone should now beware.

We have a 10 year old Lennox Furnace which has been very reliable. It is well maintained with annual maintenance plan paid to Direct Energy who installed the furnace in August 2008. Recently we had two rare power outages. In Both cases the furnace did not restart automatically when power was restore. The last power failure resulted while we were away for 3 Days. When we arrived home the temp in the house was 11c. Similar thing happened about a year or two ago. We got it working again by turning the power breaker off, and back on, and the furnace restarted, but this does not seem right.
Direct energy service rep advised well its kind of like your computer and you need to reboot. Offered to check it out, but if no problem found, I would need to pay $129 service call. Furnace had just had annual servicing about a week prior to the power outage. No problem as reported. Unable to reach Lennox Canada. No email address, no 800 number, just refers you to contact a dealer. I want to talk to a tech person, not a service rep who does not know anything! Tried sending a message to another Dealer for an opinion. Reliance never returned my message either. Not a company I would want to deal with either. In the meantime I would not recommend Lennox... mainly bad service, unable to get reliable support or assistance.

We purchased a Lennox HVAC system after doing lots of research in 2014. We thought we were being smart by purchasing a high end HVAC unit from Lennox. Since then, we have had a leak in the coil which required replacement and now have a carbon monoxide leak in the heat exchanger, which needs to be replaced. Same story as the other reviewers below. Parts covered by warranty but expensive labor costs which were not covered. We will not purchase a Lennox ever again.
