I've owned them for almost 15 years and never once had a problem with either. I have the two-in-one stackable styled that saves space. And am able to put them in a large closet on the main floor of my house instead of having to go down the basement stairs.

Love the new technology of them especially being front load and having different settings and temperature controls and the use of less laundry detergent and the sensor with the dryer to adjust drying times so you don't need to use more power than you need to. Only complaint is how dirty the front load washer gets in the rim by the door. And also that the pedestal are not included in the price as a cheaper option. 249.00 a piece is way too much. But to get the height which is what I needed and why I wanted front load so we don't have to bend over cause as you age that gets impossible.

Both the washer and the dryer were priced reasonably well. Neither the washer or the dryer ever broke down, i.e. no service calls. Machines were not overly loud. Both the washer and the dryer worked well for over fifteen years. When I married my second husband, he had newer appliances, so we decided to keep his and sell our Kenmore appliances. The next time we need to buy a washer and a dryer, Kenmore will be in our top ten list of manufacturers. We'll probably consider Kenmore, Maytag, and Samsung.

They have been good, but the dryer is dying after ten years. It is a stack unit, and I am not impressed with the dryer at all. The washer is awesome, and is full size which is also excellent. Honestly, it just keeps on working, other than the dryer not being really effective. I thought it was due to the venting. But I changed the hose and that still doesn't work.

I have always been happy with my Kenmore washer and dryer. My family has used both for many years with minimal problems. They have outlasted other appliances in our home and continue to do a great job with multiple daily use. I have never had a problem with the dryer running a full cycle and the clothes still being wet, which I have experienced with other dryers. The washer has always run smoothly. I'd recommend Kenmore appliances and will most likely purchase the same brand when it finally comes time to replace my current washer and dryer.

I inherited my grandparent's Kenmore washer and dryer when they passed away. The washer and dryer must have been well over 10 years old and still alive and kicking! I used them for at least another 5 years or so before I had to replace the dryer. I was so impressed with how long this set of washer and dryer lasted, that I ended up replacing them with newer models of Kenmore. I really liked that they cleaned my clothes well, dried them good and the products lasted so long! If they are good enough for my grandparents, then they are good enough for my family and I.

I have purchased Kenmore washers and dryers new as well as used. In my current residence I have both a washer and dryer that are both Kenmore. The dryer was purchased new and the washer was purchased used. I purchased the dryer at Lowe's in PA. The price of the dryer was low and it was pretty energy efficient. The washer performs great for being used. It was only $50. The dryer performs all the functions that are needed. I don't like the newer electronic washers for several reasons. First, the cost it too high. Second, the cost of detergent is more as well. Third, I did purchase one and it ended up breaking. I paid a costly repair from a certified repair man and it ended up breaking again. I have also had friends and family members that have had similar experiences with the new electronic washers and dryers. But, mainly the washers.

We always bought Kenmore machines since 1970. We purchased this top loading washer recently and have been very unsatisfied. This new machine never appears to clean the clothes well. They not only come out a wrinkled mess, they also come out with white splotches and dirt splotches on many dark clothing. As for energy efficiency, it takes a lot longer for a load to be completed. Had a technician come in the first month of usage, and was told what to do differently but nothing changed. Today, was the last straw: a favorite jacket that has been washed successfully in the past, came out worse than before I put it in! The washer on the other hand has leaked and had the pipe burst about 3 times now. The first year it was great and then the second year is when everything went bad. I would recommend getting a Kenmore dryer because it's amazing and fast. If you like wet laundry rooms, then buy the washer too.

I recently noticed rust around the bleach dispenser of my Kenmore top loading washer Mod 796 2900 2000. I called Sears and was told to call the Rework department at 1-800-659-7026. I spoke to several folks to include John, Jose and Paul (no last name or employee number was given) and 2 out of three said there was a "RECALL" on this model number and one said there was not. The final person that I spoke to said there was a recall and actually scheduled a technician to come out and service my machine. I asked specifically, "since this is under a recall I do not have to pay the service charge right?" and I was told, "that is correct".

When the tech called to tell me he was coming he said he would have to charge me because this was not a covered call. I then called 1800-549-4505 and spoke to Zack. He told me that it is not a recall but a Service Flash (SF26-813). I was told that the Service flash covered the parts and all I was responsible for was the trip charge of $85-$89 and if you are given any problems have them call to this number (1800-469-4663) and reference the SF number. The tech called me back and again said he verified and was told that this was not covered and that I would have to be charged. I asked for their department's number so I can have the dept. that I spoke to talk to their dept. but they would not give the number. I called the 800-469-4663 and spoke to Anna (employee number **) and she said that she read off the notes from the last phone call that my washer was not covered because of the serial number range.

So basically, Sears personnel are not all trained the same (leadership/management problem), because of this Sears/Kenmore wouldn't take care of a defective product that they sold me for a large amount of money. Granted, it is not under warranty any more but I thought the company would take care of a defective problem regardless because of their name and reputation. It probably would have been cheaper to fix a problem at somewhere around $200-$400 than to lose all the customers that this event is going to cause. I have made numerous phone calls to see if Sears/Kenmore would address this problem but to no avail. If you are considering buying a Kenmore appliance of any kind please do research beforehand and reconsider.

After 35 years of faithful performance by my Maytag washing machine, without one single service call, it finally bit the dust this last May 2015. As I have had generally good luck in the past with my Kenmore products both in my home and several rentals we have, I dutifully did my research on a new Kenmore washer (I don't even remember if it was an HE or not as this is a new term for this 76 year old woman). Upon telling the salesperson which machine I wanted she immediately told me that no, I didn't want to buy that particular item because there were a lot of complaints about it and she steered me to this other machine (in retrospect I believe this was a good old "bait and switch") which miraculously could wash up to 27 large towels in its cavernous belly. No mention was made about where you would dry these 27 towels of course.

Anyway, I was impressed and that's what I bought. Although after only five months I have not experienced any of the horror stories as told by others, I am extremely disappointed in the performance of this machine, from the tangled clothes, poor cleaning results (which could be because of the extremely low water level) and the lint that clings to the wet clothes even though I've programmed for 2 rinses, and which is not necessarily removed in the dryer. I do not like this washer in the least bit and after reading the complaints written by hundreds of others, I only wish I had read them all earlier. But knowing what might be lying in wait for me, I can say that I'm happy I buckled under the pressure and bought the extended warranty that the salesperson almost pleaded with me to buy. Purchased the "new style" Kenmore Model #25132 top loader washing machine in late June. Do NOT buy this type of machine, as it twists all your sheets into an almost impossible lump, and does the same with shirt sleeves, so you have to spend 5-10 minutes untangling. That tied-up, wrinkled-up mess now requires ironing! Oh my gosh. Haven't ironed shirts in years, but you would Not wear anything that looked like that. The idea is that it spins it "dry." Nope; it's no drier than my old agitator top-loader, and now requires so much effort to just get it untangled. Tried the "delicate" cycle, and that's only marginally better, and with lots more dampness.

They placed a lock on the top to prevent small children from crawling in (?), and after disabling that I got to see what was really happening. Your clothes are rubbed against each other, then a bit of water added. Then agitated/moved around some more; and then a bit more water added. When the machine did this about 4-5 times and thought it had enough water, it continued to rub the clothes against each other. That's the "new" cleaning process. Yes, it's using less water; but it reminds me of the poor women who have to pound their clothes against rocks. You would never want to wash anything that could possibly pill - like cotton knits, polyester knits, etc. - because they will look old in just a few washes.

    Reviewed Aug. 19, 2015

I grew up in a Kenmore household. The parents swore by the brand. In the few times we needed to replace an appliance, Sears was there with a new Kenmore unit. My parents' house is still occupied by a number of older Kenmore appliances, some have to be pushing 25 years. So when the builder grade appliances started dying in my house after 13+ years, I naturally choose Kenmore as a replacement and dropped over $1,600 for a new washer and dryer. Sears showed up on time, installed the washer and dryer, neat and clean and were gone. All they left was the boxes the washer and dryer came in and the neighborhood kids loved playing in them just as I did when I was young. That was four (4) years ago. Sears no longer stands behind you (or for that matter beside you) after your one year warranty expires.

We developed "gunk" in our washing machine despite the monthly cleanouts (BTW anyone ever remember having to "clean" a washing machine except if a crayon went through it?). It just showed up in a load one day and will not go away. I started looking to find the cause and came across rust around the bleach dispenser. Apparently the quality today is not as it once was. My parents have an older Kenmore that presents no rust at all. I do not know how old it is, but I can tell you it came in avocado green (late 70's maybe?). I hope the pictures I attached show the gunk (picture taken after 5 "cleaning" cycles), rust in the area of the dispenser (with dispenser removed), some debris that ended up in the lint filter of the dryer, and black specks that seem to have become stuck on the dryer.

If you look closely at the specks you can see bare metal, this is what happened to the finish as I tried to remove the black specs with my fingernail - THE FINISH CAME OFF! Mind you, these units are only 4 years old even though they have enormous capacity, they only service two adults and one child. So I called Sears Home Services to see what would be involved with replacing the washer top panel. I gave them the model and serial number per their request and was informed that the only way Sears Home Services could determine how much it would be to replace the part would be for me to spend $79 for them to come out and take a look. I informed them that outside the rusted part, the unit seemed to be operating fine, dirty, but fine. Again I was informed of the $79 fee and Sears started to make an appointment. I hesitated and asked if the part I needed replaced was available, I was told that they had no way of determining if the part was available unless the service tech came out for a fee of $79 - only the techs can order parts.

So I asked, just to confirm, "The only way I can find out even 'if' the part is available is to pay the $79 and have someone come out and look at it." I was told, "Yes" and that if I proceeded with the repair the estimate fee would be returned to me (I'll get to more on that in a little bit). I then asked if the part was not available, and I could not proceed with the repair, would I still be responsible for the $79. Again, I was told, "Yes" and that if I proceeded with the repair the $79 would be refunded. When I asked how they would proceed with the repair if the parts were not available I was told that would be up to the tech to determine. THAT MY FRIENDS IS SOME FINE QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE RIGHT THERE! Unbelievable. So I said, "No thanks," and hung up the phone.

I proceeded to search the net for the part and I found it at Sears Parts Direct and it showed available and that it took an average of 1hr and 45min to install. After hitting the chat button and providing my model and serial number again, I soon found that I could have the part delivered to my house in a couple days for a little over $100 and it was guaranteed to fit. I was stunned. Not 10 minutes prior to this I was told by Sears Home Services that there was no way to know if the part was available and only techs could order it. Hmmmm...

Armed with new knowledge, I called back Sears Home Services and asked what the rate ($/hr) or cost would be make the repair based on the information provided by Sears Parts Direct. They again stated that the only way they could determine how much it would cost would be to pay the $79 and have someone provide an estimate and that the $79 would be deducted if I proceeded with the repairs. I again informed them that I knew the part was available, I knew how much it cost, I knew how long it took to put in (according to Sears Parts Direct). Again, Sears Home Services informed me "The only way we can tell you how much it costs is to pay the $79 and have someone come out, keep in mind that the $79 fee is removed if you proceed with the repair."

Then it dawned on me, how would I ever know if it was removed or not? By paying the $79 and authorizing Sear Home Services to come out. I just signed up for some unknown cost, but I knew I would be out at least $79. I know the part cost and how long it takes to put in. But is that labor rate $50/hr? $100/hr? $350/hr? At some point the $79 is irrelevant and the process is preposterous.

Let me apply the same process to something a little more familiar. You want to get something to eat. You go into a restaurant that advertises cheeseburgers (among other things), you ask how much a cheeseburger is and are told that the only way to find out how much a cheeseburger costs is to pay $20 and then a waiter will come over and tell you how much the cheeseburger is. If you buy the cheeseburger they will deduct the $20 waiter fee from the final bill. If you are there to offer them a chance to redeem themselves for a subpar meal you had there some time ago and you only went there because a few of your friends still say it is the great restaurant from many years past, that begs the question, would you drop the $20 to see how much a cheeseburger is?

In checking with Sears Parts Direct, apparently Sears does not sell a service manual so that people can service their own appliances. It really is not that hard to do if you know how, the question is the know how. I guess by not providing this information Sears Home Services can keep the $79 racket going. Sears Parts Direct did suggest I try the "Ask an Expert" section of their website. I did and was unable to post a question/request there. I kept getting messages to try again later or that my search criteria was not found. So far I would say this is not Sears Parts Direct's problem but rather an issue from some other Sears subsidiary that handles IT and is suppose to keep these sites going.

I did email in my request for either a "how to" or a service manual. They again asked for the model and serial number, I responded and am awaiting a response. I will see what they come up with. I hope they can do better. I will update with their response. From my go around, so far Sears / Kenmore is not even close to what they used to be. A life expectancy of only 4 years for a $1,600 washer and dryer. Really? Sears has passed on providing quality service and quality products in the name of... oh jeez. I am not sure what they are getting in return besides a bad reputation. I was going to say higher profits, but reading the news - that is not the case. Corporate survival? That is questionable, again reading the news. If Sears is going to sell junk and not stand behind their own brand, there is simply no reason to continue to do business there.

Relationships are salvageable, but it takes efforts on both sides. I am willing to my part, hey Sears - you game? I can only hope that Sears spins off Craftsman and Kenmore early enough that those two entities can stage a turn around and not suffer the image blow that Diehard has recently suffered. Buyer beware. Nothing is Elite about Kenmore Elite or Sears Home Services.

I had repairman come out to fix my machine, he told me that the parts alone would be $504.00 to fix (brand new on sale cost was $550). Told me LG manufactured machine under Kenmore label and I should call them to see if they would cover price of parts. Also said this rarely happened to the machines.

Called LG never heard of machine, called Sears said not true, LG manufactured it. Sears told me to register machine on LG site then maybe they would recognize machine. And since it was not registered on their site that was why they did not recognize it. Problem who knows when you purchase Kenmore product who really makes it. Looking online, LG has this problem with LOTS of their machines. So unfair you purchase a (expensive to me) new machine and it is a piece of garbage. 4 hours to get a load of wash done!!!

The part is $167.64, plus the cost of having a service repairman come to our home, so between the price of the washer and the two repairs in less than two years, we could have purchased a high end washing machine. I asked the person at Kenmore if there was a complaint department or a manager that I could speak to about this issue, and she informed me that no there was no person like that for electronic issues! I will fix this washing machine and sell it asap. Then I will purchase a Whirlpool or anything besides GE and Kenmore. It is sad that there are so few reliable companies for purchasing appliances!

We bought a new Kenmore Elite Top Loading Washer 31522 in July of 2014. We noticed that the machine often generated a UE error and we had to redistribute the clothes. But it got where we could not even wash a load of sheets without having to redistribute the load 3 o 4 times. Sometimes just hit "Drain and Spin" just to complete the load. Even though Consumer Reports usually discourage buying an extended warranty we did buy one for 3 years.

We called for a service rep to repair. On the day he arrived I had used my neighbor's one year old Maytag which was very similar to mine and had zero problems with getting my laundry done. He said this would not happen with the Maytag b/c Maytag is made in USA and Kenmore is now made by LG in Korea. The repair man said he has to completely rebuild the machine and cost for labor and parts (8 parts) will be $1500.00.

The machine costs $700.00. Why would Sears approve a $15000 repair that could buy 2 new machines? I told him that I have to use a laundromat frequently which gets to be expensive and very inconvenient. He said the parts he would be delivered and he would return in 9 days. Sears called on day 8 to cancel appt and left a number to reschedule.

When I called to reschedule they said it was b/c their records indicate that all the parts were not delivered but I told her that UPS did deliver 5 additional boxes. I got an automatic call about an hour later saying I was the first appt for the next day between 10 and 12. No one came or called. I called and was told that it was cancelled and needed to be rescheduled b/c their records again indicated that we did not have the tub. We had to go through each piece we already received to confirm. The 3rd appt was made for a week later.

We are still awaiting the delivery of the inner tub assembly from LG and fear that we will have to again reschedule. I called the sales agent who sold us the washer and asked for his assistance in getting a new machine. I was told that the only person who can decide if the machine can be "condemned" is the repairman. This does not seem right to me. Why would we ask the repairman who can charge for the repair be the one to decide if the machine should be fixed? Especially when repairs will be way more that the price of a new machine.

I think we have a lemon. He was supposed to talk with his manager and get back to us but then heard nothing. I called again and he said his boss will contact us. Again heard nothing. I called again and had to leave a msg for the boss. The boss left a VMX saying he could not replace the machine, but have to wait for the repairman. I am very unhappy with the machine and especially with Sears.

Kenmore Elite Washer delivered in 8/2013. From day one it would stop mid cycle. Oct. 2014 got so fed up babysitting it to make sure it finished that I called for repair. Person said it was a common problem. Tightened wash plate and then sold me a Protection agreement. He said call whenever happens again. Feb 2015, they came out again for same problem. He said I had to ensure I only put like clothes together and that really it isn't a washer for just two people! He also decided to adjust one leg on the washer as he thought that may be an issue also.

For the past two weeks, it has started not finishing cycles again, even though I have made sure I only wash like products together, ie jean only, towels only, sheets only, etc. Painful when there are only two of us. After babying this machine all day yesterday, I ran the clean washer cycle. It took three starts and stops. I then tried to do a drain spin to at least get the water out.

This morning, I called the repair number for them to come out. This is now the third time on this machine. They are dispatching tech by end of week. 5 days for it to sit with water in it. She also told me to call the Protection Dept. to see if anything they can do. So in the meantime, I have a washer sitting here with water in it. She said to unplug it, let it sit for a minimum of 40 seconds and then try the drain spin again (which I did try twice last night). I will give it a try while I wait for the PA dept. to pick up as they are very busy, according to the recording.

I bought a Kenmore Elite Oasis HE automatic washer model number 110.27067601 serial number CT0570011 in late 2008 (along with the dryer). I also bought a one year extended warranty for it. Shortly after, the machine had the F1 error code and could not function. I called, a technician came out and replaced the control board. A couple years later, I had the same problem. The machine gets the F1 code while filling. I had to press the stop and start button at least four times to get the machine running again. Then 20 minutes before the cycle is over, it has another F1 error code. This time I have to press stop and start four more times. Being a busy physician I did not contact Sears and just tolerated the inconvenience for several years.

I called and schedule a service call on March 20th, 2015. The technician, ** came to my house on March 25, 2015 along with another technician **. They did some diagnostic with their computer and told me I need a new control board. I asked ** what is the warranty for this new control board. He told me it's only 90 days. I told him it is a bad product. He proceeded to argue with me he had nothing to do with it. It's the manufacturer of the board. I told him when I bought a machine I don't know what's inside. Anyway, an argument ensued. ** walked out and refused to service my machine. I was told the control board itself costs $180, with labor the total cost would have been $280. The board clearly is defective and there's no solution other than frequent costly replacement.

If you take into consideration the cost of $300 with 90 days warranty. Essentially if the breaks down every 90 days, I would be wasting $300 every 90 days. The cost of owning this machine is prohibitive. In summary this machine is a lemon and it's criminal for your company to put your name on it as your store brand and sell it for a high price. I would like to request one of the following solutions:

    1) Refund for the cost of the machine, $800. 2) If refund is not possible, I request you provide to me another washing machine of my choice of similar value free of charge. 3) If both solutions 1 or 2 are not possible, I request for the next 15 years, that you provide free service and parts every time I get the F1 code. I feel extremely angry and deceived. As you can tell many other customers feel the same way as I have found on the internet. Although I have tried all different detergents (all HE) and all size loads and all settings including deep wash, two rinses, super wash and so on, the laundry comes out with white marks, dry spots (the section of the clothes that are folded do not get wet), and full of lint, fuzz and dog hair. My laundry comes out of the washer dirtier than it goes in. It is truly disgusting. I have contact customer service and sent them pictures and they eventually agreed to send a service representative. But the representative only tested if the washer was going through its cycles properly, he did not test to see how it washed clothes.

I showed him the dirty clothes that came out the wash and the only recommendation that was given was to do three loads without detergent and then use only a small amount of detergent for all future washes. We have been only using the small amount of detergent as the representative indicated, however, we followed his instructions of running the three washes without detergent anyway and as we expected, it did not have any affect on the functionality of the washer. I am certain that this model just does not allow enough water to wash the clothes and since it is on a sensor we cannot adjust the amount of water.

Before the representative was sent I clearly explained that the washer was working as it was designed, the problem was that it was designed poorly. Yet the representative was sent to only see if the washer was functioning as designed and made no effort to see if it actually washed clothes or to understand the problem (it was not the representative's fault, he was very polite and tried to help, he just wasn't allowed to do anything more). I am so highly disappointed that Sears will not help me but also so disappointed that they can have such a bad product AND they are not interested in understanding its product flaws and improving their product line.

Kenmore front load connect washer and dryer - My wife is ready to kill me. I talked her into spending a lot of money on our new washer and dryer - man she could kill me. The washer takes long time and clothes still smell mildew and moldy, and we run the cleaner through it 2 times a week. The dryer never seems to get clothes dry and you just have to keep re-running them. I thought by paying a lot more for washer and dryer, we would be worry free - I couldn't be more wrong. I do not recommend them to anyone - better off throwing your money down the drain; own these and you will. And forget Sears to make anything right, you will be wasting your time.

I wish I had read all these reviews before I spent my money on the Sears Kenmore Elite washer. My Husband passed away and my Daughter's family invited me to live with them. I offered to do the laundry for the family and with 7 people I started to shop for a large capacity washer. I had had Sears washers in the past and never had a problem so when I went into the Sears store the sales person showed me the Kenmore Elite and told me It was what I was looking for. I was so excited and when it came 2 young men came in and threw it in place and hooked up the water and out they went. I put my first load in and within minutes I got the UE. I looked in the book to see what to do. I did not realize that it would keep filling up with water. I called a repair person and they told me I could fill the washer clear to the top. He balanced it and found that the men that hooked it up had the cold and hot water switched.

I have had my Kenmore Elite for nearly two years. I can not leave the washer because I constantly have to stop it and readjust the clothes. I had a repair person out again this past week. The one that came on February 18th told me mix the loads. It would make it better on weight. February 26 another repair man came and replaced parts. He told me I should only fill the washer 1/2 and I should ball each piece of clothes and put them on the outside of the drum not putting any thing in the middle and only wash towels with towels and jeans with jeans. He said if these parts do not work for me there is not much else they can do to help. Wow. The cost of the washer and warranty. A lot of money. I will spread the word not to buy a Sears product again.

Constantly get the "UE" error code, and have to play around with the laundry repeatedly to get the darn thing to finish a load. It should not have to take 3 to 4 hours to wash 1 load of laundry. Running up and down the stairs constantly, and wondering if the washing machine is working or not every single time we use it is not acceptable. Elite washing machine 31512 - I have never been upset enough to feel the need to review an appliance before. That being said, I bought this washing machine about 18 months ago for around $1,000 at Sears. Initially I was impressed with the features and the thought of it being "efficient", but slowly the washer started to become "unbalanced" on a regular basis. Then the laundry started to smell sour even after using the cleaning cycle with the proper cleaner. All of this was frustrating but somehow bearable until tonight, when I really needed to get some last minute laundry done and all it will do is display an error code "LE". This machine was way too expensive to be so horribly built. I will return to a different brand that has simple electromechanical dials and can properly drain the water so it doesn't make the laundry smell worse than when it went in. I called the Sears helpline and they recommended I sign up for $40 a month protection plan that still required me to pay $60 for them to show up and part costs!? This made no sense and just made me more upset. I will never buy anything from Sears again.

Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 a Sears Service Rep came to the house to repair our 3-year old Kenmore Top-Loading Series 2000 Model Washer. The washer was unbalanced during the spin cycles causing the machine to shut down. The Sears Service Rep replaced all four shock absorbers/springs on the basket with new ones. He also reprogrammed the machine. That afternoon we used the washer and it operated normally with no problems. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 we used the washer this morning and it is now doing the same thing as before, rendering the machine unusable. We contacted Sears and they scheduled us for recall service on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015.

Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 we were scheduled for service this morning, but Sears Service never showed up during the scheduled time window. We also received no telephone call informing us that Sears was not going to able to make it to our house. We called Sears Service that afternoon to complain and they rescheduled us for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 between the hours of 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 Sears Service was scheduled to re-service our Kenmore Top-Loading Washer between the hours of 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Once again, no Sears Service Rep showed up. We called Sears and they said they had no record of us being scheduled for service that day. Diana was on the phone for 2 hours with Sears Service, all to no avail. They were not sympathetic and didn’t care. They attempted to reschedule us for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015. We told them that was the one day that week when we wouldn’t be at home due to doctor appointments. We asked them to schedule us for Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 or Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015. They said that they couldn’t do it on any of those days as they were booked up. Sears Service said they could only come out on one of those days if someone canceled their appointment.

Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 we called Sears Service again to try and get a Service Rep out to repair our Kenmore Washer on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. They once again insisted that they could only come out on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015. They stated that if we didn’t accept Wednesday, then the earliest date that they could come after that was Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Sears has proved to us that they don’t care about fixing our machine, except at their convenience. They have stated that they couldn’t come out earlier unless another customer canceled their appointment. Sears apparently doesn’t care that their Service Department canceled on us twice, with no qualms about it and without notifying us that they weren’t coming. They refuse to make the service of our Kenmore washer a priority, even though it is Sears fault that the machine was not repaired correctly the first time and that Sears has failed to show up for scheduled appointments on two occasions. Sears Customer Service is absolutely horrible. When we called them to complain, they were uncooperative and refused to give us contact numbers for supervisors or the corporate office. They kept apologizing, but obviously had not one iota of care whether our washer was repaired (for a second time) in a fair and timely matter.

In Aug 2013 I replaced my old Kenmore Front Load washer, that I had purchased in 2005, with the Kenmore Elite Model 41172211 Washer. My old Front loader had worked great most of the time. In the 8 years we had it I replaced a pump and had to replace a set of drum shocks but other than that it worked great. One thing I never had a problem with was mold and mildew growing in the washer. I very seldom had to clean it out and never worried about having to leave the door open. Our clothes were always cleaned very well.

However, the new Front Load Elite Model # 41172211 has been nothing but problems since we got it. There was an odd odor right from the start. And there is a constant fight to keep mold and mildew from growing in areas along the rubber boot. I leave the door open. Run bleach through it on the "Clean Washer" cycle usually at least every 2 weeks. Really "water efficient". I think not. Not when you have to run cleaning cycles all the time without a load in it.

The other problem is that my wife has a beauty shop and we wash a lot of her towels in the machine. With my old machine there was never a problem getting the hair out of the towels. Every time I run a load of her towels I have to wipe hair off of the glass on the door and out of the rubber boot. And don't tell me I need to clean the screen because I do that about once a week.

I grew up with my parents always having a Kenmore washer and dryer. I have been married for 32 years now and my wife and I have only had Kenmore washers and dryers up to this point. But if this is the "quality" of Kenmore front loaders I will NEVER buy another Kenmore. As far as I'm concerned this machine has an engineering deficiency that needs to be corrected and Sears/Kenmore has a public relations nightmare with this washer.

Sears needs to make good for anyone having mold problems in these machines by either refunding our purchase price so we can go elsewhere and get a machine a decent machine or replacing what we have with a model that doesn't have a mold problem. I know personally I am considering seeking a lawyer that specializes in class action litigation. I have seen enough people posting about this problem not only on this site but many others about this specific problem. If it wasn't a design/engineering problem then my old machine would have grown mold and it didn't.

Whatever you do, do not interrupt the cycle at any time... If you do, you will be sorry. Constant unbalanced loads no matter the size of the load. All kinds of error codes and chimes going off from delayed drain which will stop the cycle entirely to latch lock malfunction, etc. You have to babysit this thing if you want to get your clothes done. It's a Kenmore Elite model number 29002000, which at one point I understand had a recall because the drum will become detached and damage everything in its path. I loved my Kenmore Elite washer at first, but started having problems within the first year. It got out of balance and my once whisper quiet washer became much louder. Then, it started smelling sour - even when I started leaving the door open after washes so it would dry out. Now, it's filling up with water between washes and I have to spin and drain each time before using it to empty out the water. Also, most times, the clothes are too damp after the wash cycle and then take too long to dry. They used to be practically dry before I put them in the dryer. To be fair, I've probably had this washer for 6 or so years, but I've gotten less and less happy as each year goes by.

I figured that it was way more technologically ahead than my prior machine so I figured I wasn't using right. The past 15 months my wife has had to run the clothes through the machine twice. Because they would wash then the machine would shut down right before the machine would start its final spin, the clothes would be loaded with water and require a 20 minute run to complete the process. I now had to find out the hard way that there was a serious issue with it and paid 400 dollars for an extra year warranty. On top of all this, Sears continues to take their sweet time and changing the service date.

My prior machines lasted me 12 years. This washing machine was personally my worst investment. And the biggest waste of money, time and patience. And I will never purchase nor recommend kenmore to anyone!

My wife and I have been faithful Kenmore customers for 15 years (as we're both of our parents) UNTIL NOW. Moving into our new home 7 years ago, we bought a top of the line, matching Kenmore Elite HE4 washer and dryer. They were more expensive than the competition, but looked great and had amazing features.

The dryer had a recurring issue that took 4 service visits and approx. $500 in repairs. We thought, "Must have got a rare lemon." But in December, the washer stopped mid-cycle with an ERROR F6. As good customers, we called Kenmore service and a repair technician came out to fix it. He switched out the Control Board. Next day, the washer stopped again, ERROR F6. A second repairman came out and replaced the Control Board Wire Harness. Two weeks later the washer stopped again and repairman came out to explain how we needed a Motor Control Board and new motor. THIS HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES!!! And the washer is still not fixed.

We were convinced early on that we should purchase a service protection plan from Kenmore and if they couldn't fix it, Kenmore would replace it. But as of today, they want to send out a SEVENTH service repairman to try to fix the issue. My wife and I have been on the customer service hotline for 3-4 hours collectively, and had to take off from work for six days and rearrange our schedule to accommodate Kenmore's technicians on six different days (with six different technicians) with no resolution.

Kenmore Customer Service continues to give us the runaround and will not replace the washer as promised through the service agreement, nor will they give us a manager's name to resolve the issue. This has been the most infuriating experience of our lives. If Kenmore will not resolve this issue immediately, we intend to spread the word of our experience on every social media outlet we can find. It has become the norm for us to switch it to drain and spin after fixing the out of balance 3 or 4 times per load.

This is NOT an exaggeration. We tried everything possible to figure out why. We checked the level with a leveler. We did small loads. We did medium loads. And we did large loads. NOTHING made a difference. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent on an appliance. We can't even sell it cheap to someone because they would be knocking at our door after only 2 loads. Being under the 30-day warranty a service tech is coming out to determine whether there is a problem with the washer or a correction can be made in doing our laundry which we hope happens. At this point, I'm not entirely certain I want a tech determining what course of action needs to be taken. Sticking with the washer or replacing it which is a warranty option.

We went to Sears to purchase a pair (washer and dryer combo) Kenmore Elite Top Loading Washer 79631623310 and a front loader dryer of the same brand. All of our appliances come from Sears and I believe every washer-dryer that we ever purchased in the 32 years of our marriage have been from Sears. My complaint is that clothes - sheets and anything that I put inside this new washer, comes very wrinkle. I never had experienced this before with any other machines. Same thing from the dryer (I just learned from the Sears service man that the washer is more to blame that the dryer.) I wrote a complaint in different boards including MY SEARS and a person from Sears called me; today I have a Sears service person in my house. I showed him clothes that I recently washed and dried, and he could see how wrinkle all of them they were. I had a pair of pants, shirts of different textures, t shirts, and sheets.

He called someone from the manufacturer and for what I heard, I am THE ONLY CUSTOMER COMPLAINING FOR THIS, which to me is unbelievable since I had this problem in every wash I do; so I can't be the only person having this problem, or writing a complaint. To be fair, the service person is still here, but from listening to his conversation I can anticipate that this complaint is going nowhere! The manufacturer has rendered the verdict! I am very frustrated because I still owe $1,400.00 on these pair and I cannot imagine having to go through the same thing for at least 10 more years, which was the duration of my last set which by the way was superior in every way to these very modern machines. I feel that I am on the right and Sears and the manufacturer cannot tell me that this is not happening to me. I wrote the order number from Sears' service today. I was a very dissatisfy customer who is now frustrated and upset.

We bought a 110 series Kenmore washer in Jan 2013. Last week we noticed it was slowly dripping water into the tub. I researched and investigated everything and found out it is likely the inlet water valve. So I bought a new one for $50 and will replace it myself since it is easy to do. We're still very dissatisfied though. Our last Kenmore 110 washer lasted almost 20 years without a single repair before the motor burned out. That's why we bought another Kenmore but maybe we were just lucky with that one.

On March 24, 2011 I purchased a new Kenmore Washer Model #21102 and a matching dryer which I have yet to hook or use. The dryer that is, not the washer. The washer has been a problem from day one. In my opinion it's a design flaw on more than one account. The fins on this washer - and I'm not a newbie to washers I've had washers and dryers for over 50 years - and this the very first washer to tear clothing constantly and to get clothing lodged below the fins and thus tangle and tear them. It seemed to be more of a problem for my daughter so I was quite sure what was going on. Was it her or the washer but then it did the same for me.

In the 50 years of owning washers I've never had to replace a belt and shield on a washer either. I've gone more than a decade without having to do so but this is now the 2nd time I need to replace both in less than 4 years. Apparently the Kenmore name is no longer bullet-proof. My mother went 20 years without seeing a repairman on her Kenmore appliances either. So what is this a faulty design flaw or just crap?

We purchased a Kenmore Calypso Washer & Dryer in 2001/2002 at Sears after salesman highly recommended the new washing technique. We purchased an extended warranty on both, thank goodness. The serviceman had to come out several times regarding both machines, most often the washer. The motherboard went out once or twice, clothes smell, some clothing getting caught under wash tub and marks on clothes. Our darks get white streaks, our whites have gotten horribly gray so much I won't even buy light clothing anymore. I do throw in 1/2-1 cup of baking soda with the loads to help with the smell. The dryer will sometimes take 2-4 cycles to get clothes dry. Finally now my washer went out. After reading all these comments I see there was a recall which I knew nothing about. I had actually extended the warranty a 2nd time before it expired. Sears would have known about a recall at that point. I am very disappointed and will not buy a Kenmore or Whirlpool product again.

Kenmore Elite Oasis He Repair - Purchased this washer about 6 years ago. For the last 3 years has had difficulty filling and draining. My clothes come out dingy and dry in places at times. Takes 10-12 days for repair appt. When a part is needed and not on the truck, it's another 10-12 days to order a part, then another 10-12 days to book a repair appt. That means no washer for 2-4 weeks for each repair. Going to the laundromat for 10 loads gets old. Sears warranty replacement guarantee only kicks in if a major part was replaced 5 times in a calendar year. They have been out several times for the problem, but because no major part replaced it doesn't count. Have gone to Customer Care numerous times without success. Frustrating.

HATE, HATE, HATE! It's the worst! I have to do the downward dog yoga pose to reach the laundry down, down, deep in the bottom of the washer, the blood rushing to my head, and then wrench my lower back as I haul the heavy, wet clothes up. The "control" panel doesn't give the owner any control at all! I need to let my antique monogrammed white linen sheets soak in soapy water before beginning a gentle wash cycle. Every time I pause the wash cycle to allow for soaking, all of the soapy water drains out of the washer and I have to start all over again, wasting gallons, and gallons of hot water. And if you want to add an item of clothing or more soap, you're out of luck - the machine is locked up like Fort Knox. I HATE this machine SO much - hate, hate, hate.

We contacted Sears and we were told that rusting was not covered in their warranty, and they wanted us to buy their additional warranty policy. The washer has continued to rust and it looks terrible. I believe that they didn't put a protective seal on the paint. The washer and dryer are in an inside laundry room.

We bought this HE Kenmore Elite top load washer several years ago. First we noticed that the thing just didn't clean the clothes well--- whites were coming out gray, etc. Then it started getting loud during the spin cycle. I don't mean noisy-- I mean LOUD. I looked on the Internet and found many complaints about this-- apparently the bearings are often defective and go bad quickly. The cost to replace is more expensive than just replacing it with a standard washer that actually cleans clothes.

As I sit here typing the thing has gotten so loud that I'm certain OSHA would require hearing protection to be near it. We're now beginning to notice tears in sheets and table clothes. Not only is it deafening and cleans poorly, it's now actually damaging our clothes and linens! I hate the thing--- I mean HATE it. It was a total waste of money and we're just trying to get enough use out of it to make buying a new washer cost-effective. A horrible, horrible piece of poop. The Kenmore brand used to be reliable-- it's no wonder Sears is on the ropes and possibly failing. It deserves its fate.

Kenmore Front-loading Automatic Washer Model #796.4127 - We purchased our washer about a yr and a half ago. Hate it on SO many levels. I thought it would be great for bedding and such but NOTHING comes clean. I can wash my husband's work shirts and after they are washed and dried I can still smell his cologne on the shirts. We live on the water and I lost my top loader in a hurricane which caused our basement to flood. I was overjoyed thinking I could finally buy a front loader and that it would be so much better. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and know then what I know now because I would have bought another top loader for sure. You just can't get clothes clean without an agitator! And the SMELL!!! OMG it is HORRIBLE! It has this little drain tube you have to drain every couple of weeks, you can't leave the door closed or the smell is disgusting, but then you worry about the rubber seal drying out.

I hate this washer on so many levels it isn't funny. Would NOT recommend it even to my worst enemy. Laundry is enough of a chore without having to wait almost 2 hours to wash a load on the heavy setting but if you don't set it to that, nothing comes clean. Heck even on the heavy setting, it still comes out as stained as it went in. I use a laundry pretreat and that helps a little but if you are thinking of buying this, change your mind and RUN!!!

Kenmore Washer Model No. 796.40318900. Shortly after purchasing the very expensive washer it started leaking water. Why, no explanation given from sears. Then we started getting "dE" which means "door error". Since I was busy working we decided to get sears out to repair. I should have done it myself! They send tech out a week later and just used the code given to swap out parts without really troubleshooting the root cause of problem. They replace the door switch for $240.00. Three days later it has the same "dE" and at this point I am livid at myself and sears. IF it's the same part that went bad they would fix it under the 90 warranty on that part, if it's something else they would charge me again. Just swapping out parts is not a reliable way to troubleshoot a problem. That's just the easiest way sears probably trains their techs.

This took about 3 weeks to get the second tech out. I just wanted to get another switch installed and I was going to troubleshoot the real problem myself. I guessed you figured out by now, nobody I know that is married can go a month without washing clothes on a regular basis. I will NEVER do business with sears again. I took the wife to Lowe's and purchased an LG washer that was very similar that would fit on the stand I purchased with the kenmore. When the second tech finally shows up, I point him to the garage where the Kenmore sat connected to power. He told me he couldn't troubleshoot it not connected to water. I told him "sure you can because it gets the same door error and will not start."

Now the truth comes out from his mouth. "Well the problem is not the door switch, it's the software!" I said, "You mean the controller?" He said, "Yes", this is a known problem and for a refurbished one it will be $125.00 plus labor and a new one is $225.00 plus labor since it's not the original part. So let's get this straight! They knew it was the controller and they scam you into believing it could be other parts to charge you out the ** just to steal your money! Now I paid for a repair that didn't really fix the problem because the controller works randomly and now they want another $350.00 to replace the controller. This will bring the total to ~$600.00 to fix a used Kenmore Washer that cost me $1500.00 brand new.

No matter how you look at it, with the new LG Washer and the cost to repair the old one that I may not be able to sell without gilt is now over $2,100.00. By the way, the tech also said that Sears tried to duplicate the technology from LG and failed badly and sells everyone crap at big $$$$$. Also, the water on your floor is caused by a couple things. If there is too many suds build up in the washer it will flush it out the back of the washer and runs down the back side onto the floor. They didn't design it to go out the drain normally. This makes no sense whatsoever! If you do not clean the glass door and rubber around the door frequently, it will leak water out the front also and begin to make your washer smell bad. Straight out of the tech's mouth.

Way to go Sears! Make everyone's life a PAIN. Now that other companies sell tools that are lifetime warrantied, there is no need to buy anything from this company ever again. STAY AWAY FROM SEARS! I hope you read this complaint board before making your next purchase!

It's over 15 years old and all those side loading so-called "HE" washers are way too delicate and cost hundreds to thousands to own. Do yourself a favor and go to used appliance store and buy one of these 110 models. May not be the prettiest girl in the bunch but she sure as hell will not leave you hanging like these new ones made today. You can thank me in 15- 20 yrs.

I'll try to be as fair as I can without cursing. I really, really HATE my Kenmore high efficiency washing machine. It takes literally hours if not the whole day to wash a single load. And when the cycle complete light says it's done and I open the lid, I'm usually looking at a load that has not spun and is soaking wet. I've tried every setting and I'm constantly having to come back to the machine to check if it's going o.k. I thought by purchasing this machine I would save on water but instead, I end up rewashing loads and wasting time. It's a nightmare. It's a fairly new machine and I'm already considering taking it to the dump and buying a new one. I wouldn't want to donate it. Nobody deserves a machine like this. I've had family members ask me how I like my machine because they needed a new one. I told them not to buy the high efficiency ones. I told them the truth. I HATE IT! I will never ever buy another one like this or recommend it to anyone. It may even deter me from buying Kenmore products too.

My washer stopped at or before the Spin cycle on a normal wash load with a SD (suds detected) error. I ran through the rinse and spin hoping to finish the load, no luck. Then took all the clothes out to run a "clean washer" cycle. This did not help nudge the machine back into entering a spin cycle on my next attempt at a normal wash load.

I called Sears at the number provided on the washer manual. The service agent scheduled a repair visit and stepped right into selling me a $479 per year home warranty agreement which would supposedly "cover all appliances" in my home no matter their age or condition and only charge me $60 per service visit. I declined the offer. I searched the Internet and happened to find out that my washer had a recall on it for the exact same problem(s). I called the recall line 800-659-7026 and the agent promptly ordered me a new control board and a free replacement service.

The next week, the service technician left me saying that the machine is operating properly. After he left, I tried a wash and the washer failed to spin. The service technician arrived again next week after I reported this and now found that the main bearing/shaft had deteriorated and needed replacement at a cost of $354. He charged me $94 because I declined the repair (which he would have done the following week anyway). I decided to buy a new washer instead. The washer is about 7 years old and I think this is rather short life for the expensive appliance that it is. Sears appeared to solve my problem by selling me a warranty instead of taking care of my immediate concern. At $479 a year, I can buy a new major appliance every year and not have to wait for Sears' approval or fine print. So to summarize: 1. The washer has a very short life, 2. Sears customer service is very poor.

Said it was against policy to provide troubleshooting, but they would be happy to set up an appointment for around $129. The washer only has a 1 yr warranty. Anything that you pay more than $500 for should cover parts for at least 3yrs. The staff at Sears stated, "you should have got the extended warranty babe, nothing is made like it used to and your lucky if it last 3 yrs." I was able to reset and get it going for a few days but it has stopped working again. Believe there is an issue with the control panel.

This started in August, and the last two appointments have been cancelled the day of the appointment (when my wife called the 800 number to find out what time the repairman would be at our house). Currently the laundry room is stinking, the entire first floor of our home because the water is stagnant and will not drain.
