Washer continues to stop because it's unbalanced. Takes all day to wash one load and end up having to hang in my shower to dry enough to put in dryer. Service says nothing wrong but I can pay for repair to come out and look at it. They know this is a problem with these machines. Plenty of complaint.

I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer in August 2013, and was told I would never have problems. The washer doesn't clean anything and always smells. The dyer collects fluff and dust, a fire hazard under the filter. You need to vacuum the area when you remove the filter or the dryer fluff accumulates. So my washing machine is 1 year and one month and has totally died. There is nothing to do but spend more money. I have no more money. My previous washer and dryer lasted 20 years, with 3 kids. I hate Kenmore and will never buy anything from Sears ever again. This should not happen.

The very first couple weeks we bought a kenmore front load washer it flooded out the laundry room many times. Floors, walls and basement was damaged. We have called for a appliance tech, to come and see what was happening. The most times this would happen if I used any other setting except normal wash in the beginning. The tech couldn't see anything wrong. He didn't try putting it on wash while he was here. He didn't seem to have any idea about this product. After a couple of months going through the same thing we requested for a new washer while the warranty was still on it. Sears was months looking into the problem for us and every time we go and see them, they said finally we will be getting a new one. We never did get a new one and now the washer is worst than what it ever was. As of this weekend I am draining the water in a bucket so I can get my clothes out of the washer. Very dissatisfied customer...

I had a Kenmore Washer & Dryer for 13 years and only had to replace 1 part on the washer and my husband did it. So we thought it was time to purchase a new set that might be more energy efficient and thought we would go with the Kenmore brand again. July 2013 we purchased the Kenmore Elite top loading washer and matching dryer, for a lot of money, not bottom of the line. My husband was not happy with the washer right away, he felt his work clothes were not getting clean. I thought it might be the setting they were getting washed on so I tried different combinations. I also realized that I couldn't let items soak in the water overnight, it would drain out.
We continued to use them since they were not broken and we had given away our other set. In the last 1-2 months I can't wash a load of anything (it first was only blankets) it stops and says unbalanced load. I had them installed by the company who brought them but I double checked that the washer was level, and it was. I can't get through washing a load of 4 items, same weight without it taking all day, and stopping at the minimum of 4 times. I go and rebalance the clothes and start it again.
I called and it is $79 to come out and look, if nothing is wrong, I lose the money. If they find something I get it back but pay for the parts & labor. Or I can purchase a new warranty for $229 for a year which covers certain items. I can't sell it without feeling guilty but it was not a couple of hundred dollars, I even feel guilty giving it to anybody but I don't even want to deal with it anymore. Friends have washers and Love them! The dryer is fine, no complaints. Trying to figure out if I should choose plan A or plan B... My luck is bad.

My old washing machine broke. I had it for 15 years, never had to fix it. I kept looking at these beautiful washers in the store that would wash the whole bed spread. No more going to the laundromat to wash my bed spread I thought. So I bought the Kenmore elite wondering how it would clean my clothes with no agitator in it. I was told it was new technology. I don't know why I assume the makers knew what they were doing. I hate my washer for so many reasons. It doesn't clean my clothes very good, even a small load. When I put a large load in it, it knots the clothes up so bad I can't hardly get them apart. They are so wrinkled they're almost permanently wrinkled. When I wash a bedspread it gets off balance and stops, so I have to pull the heavy thing out and restart many times until it finally finishes. That might not be so bad if it actually got clean.
My dark cloths keep having a white residue on them and I can only guess that the light cloths do too. My whites are getting more and more dingy and whatever goes in with a spot comes out with a spot. Now I'm looking for an older set like I had before on Craigslist and I don't know what to do with my 2000 dollar waste of money set because how can I sell it in good conscience knowing what a bad washer it is. The dryer I have had no problems with.

Elite High Efficiency Top Loader - We bought our washer less than 2 years ago! It has been extremely noisy the last few months and unbalanced! Yesterday the washer flooded our upstairs and poured through our dining room ceiling! We called Sears and they want $80 just to come out and look at it, meanwhile we have to replace carpet and Sheetrock. How can a company charge so much for a product and not stand by its quality and care about its consumer. A washing machine should last for more than 2 years!! Companies like this need to be held accountable for ripping off the consumer.

I purchased Kenmore gentle wash canyon cap in 2007. Within the first 2 yrs I had have tech come out, the select dial would not stay on the load indicated. The first tech told us that we needed electronic part and plastic around wash tub needed to be replaced. Ok. 2 weeks later a new tech arrives and said the 1ST tech ordered the wrong parts. After a month the washer was fixed (so we thought). Well it 2014 and guess what? Same problem with load indicator, but now the washer with clothes or no clothes just starts banging on the spin cycle. Had local washer repair tech come in, not from Sears. He tells me tension rod that stabilize tub during spin cycle are shot. So between the service fees and replacement parts I have decided to shoot the washer. I will never spend that kind of money on a new washer again.

My wife and I purchased a Sears Kenmore Elite Washer and Dryer in May 2012. We have found rust on the face and on the hinges. The service staff changed some parts at a cost of $350. The rust was not removed nor could we get a reassurance that the rust would be abated. We found that LG manufactured this machine and we are in the process of filing a complaint with LG. I think Sears needs to be responsible since it is their name on the product. Anyone else have any problems?

My daughter gave me her brand new Kenmore Elite Oasis washer and dryer. The appliances were reinstalled by professional tradesman who has installed hundreds of appliances. Right from the beginning the washer did not clean clothes properly. There were clumps of dirt and pints on the clothes, requiring repeated washings. The spin cycle would show unbalanced sign and stop. It did not matter if the clothes were redistributed or some or most taken out, the machine was just hung and it took most of the day to spin one load dry.
I had to wring my clothes by hand on many occasions and put it in the dryer half wet. Not long after it was not spinning, it started to make clucking sounds as if someone was changing gears improperly. Then it started to leak. All over the laundry room. I cleaned all connections, replaced the hose screens, had it balanced etc. It would leak a little, but on second wash it leaked all out again. Called Sears and was told I was on my own as they did not honor any defects and warranty was past. This in my opinion is criminal. Selling defective products and doing nothing to fix the problems. Shame on you Sears! Needless to say I won't be fixing this washer, as I have also been told it is futile to do so.

We bought a Kenmore Elite top loading machine less than 5 years ago. The lid started rusting soon after we bought it. It has progressively gotten worse. The whole lid is rusted now. It looks horrible. I take care of all my appliances. I had a previous washer for almost 40 years. I should've kept it. It had NO rust anywhere. Kenmore and Sears has cheap, crappy appliances. They are not what they used to be. Think "K-Mart" quality. DO NOT buy appliances from Sears anymore. If you don't pay through the ** for an extended warranty, you are out of luck. The reason they sell them is because they KNOW their stuff is crap and will not stand behind it. Go to an appliance store where they will stand behind their products. RUN from Sears and Kenmore. There's a reason they are going out of business.

Time to replace our 16 yr old washer and dryer. So many bad reviews out there... We felt we had to choose the "lesser of the evils" because there was no overall good washer/dryer out there! We found a good deal on the Kenmore Elite top load washer model 31512 and the matching dryer model 61512. I expected problems to arise from all the complaints about electronics and washer stopping.... Been using it for 2 months now and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised! The errors that did occur were normal occurring errors w/ any washer. Got excited about the extra large tub and I loaded it up! (We are a family of 6!) Of course it didn't clean well. (Had to try it anyways! lol!)
The 2 times it shut off was due to imbalance. My old washer would have shut off too. It appears that if you keep opening and shutting the lid while it's filling up it will add more water too. Wanted to keep peeking inside and was alarmed at all the water usage! Then I figured out it was every time I opened the door it would add more water. My FAVORITE is the quick wash cycle!! Not only does the larger tub allow me to do more laundry, but I can pick "Quick cycle" and it'll be done in 35 minutes not an hour!! Whoooo Hoooo!! (Of course real dirty stuff I stay on the normal cycle.) The dryer is great. Because the washer spins the heck out of the clothes, the dryer doesn't take as long to dry. Also, lots of complaints about it "not cleaning"..... I honestly think it may be an overloading issue. You can't stuff it. 3/4 the way up the wall is enough to load it and if you want to add more water, you just push a button. I really do like this so far.
Oh....if you are wanting the dryer rack to go inside the dryer for shoes and sweaters I have battled the giant on this for you... They sent me the wrong rack twice and insisted that it was the right one. I had to send photos to the consumer affairs dept and such to prove the rack they were sending was wrong! Come to find out the warehouse was pulling the incorrect rack because the manufacturer was out of the correct one. One size does not fit all! This has been going on over a month to get the correct rack. Make sure you get rack 3751EL1001B. It is NOT symmetrical like the 3750 version. Hope this helps some of you out there and you are pleased with it like I am. :)

Model 27122 serial #C42330018 - Coin operated washer. 7-23-14 Purchased washer from Sears on line. Del'd 7-29 - Leaked immediately - they replaced 2 days later. Machine failed within a couple of weeks - had to wait till 9-4 for service call - circuit board was fried according to repairman & said he will order new one. Waited 10 days only to find he never ordered it. 9-19 - Repairman put in new board but did not recalibrate machine (which another repairman said he should have done). Machine broke down again. 9-30 - 3rd repairman came but could not fix. 10-8-14 4th repairman (George) came & recalibrated circuit board. (10-23 machine failed again.) 10-24-14 (5th visit) George returned again and recalibrated again. Frankly no one know why the machine (a brand new machine) keeps failing.
This has been going on for 3 months. The machine has never run more than 3 weeks and usually 2 (but 1 wk is the standard time it takes to get an appt. visit). It's a Kenmore made by Whirlpool. The repairmen have said they have a lot of trouble w/ this machine (yes, they actually said that & I have a witness). They blame the problems on the fact it uses a circuit board. There's more, but I leave it at that.

Purchased new Kenmore Elite Front Loading Washer in November 2013. Very loud and noisy. Cannot watch TV in the next room. When I wash heavy loads like 3 Large towels it stops in the middle of spin I guess unbalanced. I have to restart the spin. Does not make sense. I purchased the largest tub size they had. Top of the line. As far as the noise, when they delivered they never balanced and after reading the directions it says this is critical for the spin cycle and noise. I went and bought a 4" level and balanced the machine per instructions. Helped minimal but too extremely loud. Will never buy another Kenmore. It has leaked water about 4 or 5 times.
I walk in the room and water on the floor. I called Sears for service and they advised to read the directions and you have to closely follow the type cloths you wash and the type cycle or it leaks. It you have KIDS DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. I am an Adult and I caused it to leak water 4 or 5 times in 7 months. If I had known this I would have never purchased this machine. I paid for a 5 year maintenance too so about $2,000 for a new washing machine that leaks water on my floor if I choose the wrong cycle for washing. Brilliant minds at Sears. Another repairman came and replaced the hose. He said use less detergent. I use so little detergent it's ridiculous it still leaks and another repairman is coming next week. There is an opening in the back of the machine with a white circle and the machine is made that way to release suds and water. Sometimes I see just water pouring from it. Why would anyone make a machine that comes out of the machine onto the floor. Someone is going to slip and get hurt and then I will sue Sears and my floor is constantly getting water. Bought a new very expensive Kenmore Elite washer and dryer. Excited, consumer reports said great washer, good buy. Absolutely wrong! Clothes are not clean. Wash a load of socks, put in dryer, open dryer, smell dirty socks. Nasty! Wash underwear, same thing when dry, smell like dirty underwear. Nasty! Nasty! Stains do not come out of clothes; dry spots on parts of clothes where they never got wet during wash cycle; clothes come out so wrinkled on heavy duty and normal cycle, the dryer nor an iron can get the wrinkles out, have to wash on hand wash cycle. Towels smell of mildew after one day's use. This means they were never got clean in wash cycle. Have to completely fill detergent container with detergent to get even a small load clean.
In order to get enough water in the machine, I have to soak the clothes in a bucket and trick the machine so it thinks there are a lot more clothes than there are so it will fill with water. I don't dare leave a load of "washed" clothes in the washer because they will mildew. Called Sears to complain and ask what could do, Salesman said "those machines don't work! Warranty expired. Sell it to someone else at a loss and get a different model. That's what I did."
A doctor and his family bought same model. Saw them at a soccer game! Every one of them smelled of mildewed clothes. I knew exactly what had happened. I was embarrassed for them. I am so frustrated I am at a loss. Sears won't stand behind their product, are rude and basically say it is not their problem. We need a class action attorney! Every one of us needs to join in that lawsuit. I paid almost $2,000 for my washer and dryer and I haven't told you about the dryer yet.

My husband and I purchased a Kenmore Elite HE top load washer in May 2013. The clothes never seemed to be as clean as before and the cycles seem to take too long. After a short time it started flashing the out of balance code constantly, next the washer would shut down, it continued to get worse. I called Sears after a load of towels took 14 1/2 hrs to wash. We had bought the extended warranty that would cover repairs, and laundry service if needed, so they sent out a tech after waiting 10 days. He told me the washers really had a design flaw, plus Sears had sent a part out ahead of time that was totally useless. He ordered a new part, try to do what he could but washer was just as bad with stopping and lucky to even get one load done in a day. He came back after 2 weeks, put the new parts on, first load after he left stopped. I called Sears back and assured me the washer needed struts to prevent being out of balance. Struts came, put on after 2 weeks waiting, put a queen size set of sheets in to wash, it stopped. That load went for over 31 hrs!
I called Sears and told them about the problem, they said a new part was ordered and told to hang in there. Really after 6 weeks and it still not working. I told them it was time to replace and they said no and that my laundry benefit with my warranty was only a courtesy and would only cover up to $25.00 a week up to $100.00 max. They don't acknowledge the fact of my inconvenience, the cost of power and water of a washer running for such extended periods of time, but they are not willing to help anymore than that with laundry expense. When I brought up the fact 6 weeks of laundry for a family of 5 would cost more than $100.00, the very rude " manager on duty" threaten to take the "courtesy" of the table. There definitely needs to be a class action lawsuit against Sears so consumers can get their money back.

They replaced 3 boards and this did not fix the problem. They ordered another part and Sears did not show up at the scheduled time. I had called several times on the scheduled date to verify the appointment and I found I was scheduled but they had failed to assign it to a technician. This meant I really was not on the schedule. The customer service person told me some of their service personnel did not know how to read the screens and did not realize I did not have an appt. I purchased a Kenmore Dryer in June 2012. I put a load of wash in it and it had this very loud grinding noise. I took the top off to see if the belt was broke, but all looks intact. I spun the drum to see if maybe something was lodged in there and it did not make any harsh noise. I never overload the dryer (my son broke one before by doing that. I know the expense). The warranty just expired - go figure.
I called Kenmore to see what I can do and they said they can have someone over that same day. That was very impressive. However, they said it would cost me $97.00 just to have the service man ring my doorbell, and depending on what is wrong with the dryer it could cost almost $500. I only paid $450.00 for it. So, I said no to the service call. I am on a low budget I could not afford that. I put the dryer on lay-a-way for six months that's how low my budget is. Cold water is cold as it should be; hot water is hot as it should be. 2. Water fills EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW. 3. One day after delivery I called for service; was told had to wait 4 days. Why would Sears not prioritize immediate service on a new delivery? So I waited 4 days, then waited 3 hours (taking off work) for technician to come. First he doesn't know where to look on the machine for the serial and model number. Then he finds it and starts to diagnose the washer. He immediately tells me this model WILL NOT FILL ANY FASTER-this is how it is designed, and that the WARM setting is just as it is.
I say my other Kenmore that was just replaced gave WARM water that was warmer than cold and not as hot as hot. He tells me this model does not work that way. Essentially he's saying THERE IS NO WARM WATER TEMPERATURE. He says it works on a thermostat vs. older models mixed cold and hot water. He goes to his truck and comes back with a thermometer of some kind. He tests the "warm" water, then drops it in the water which killed it, so he couldn't actually verify the difference between the temperatures, but BOTTOM LINE HE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO GET WARM WATER. Then he says this IS the warm setting in Florida, which is nonsense, because WARM on the previous washer and 2 other washers I have access to in friend's homes, give WARM water. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE OR SEARS.

We bought a Kenmore front load washer in 2012. I was so excited and didn't even consider another brand, as Kenmores last forever, right? Sears has always been a company that has sold quality products and built a large company due to repeat customers. I was baffled re the lock button not releasing after the load was done and also the standing water staying after the rinse cycle periodically. This from day one of purchase off and on. I have given my manual a workout in the past two years trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Because based on being a third generation owner of exclusively Kenmore appliances, a two year old Kenmore washer would never have broken!
A few months ago the standing water issue slowly progressed to the point of not spinning at all when the rinse cycle began. Out came the manual, again and again. Of course, the lock button wouldn't release due to the water level, so I drained it numerous times from the hose in the trap door. This takes over an hour and the hose is so short you have to use small containers and hope you can get one to the sink while holding the hose closed with your thumb. Then the nd error started coming on for a couple of loads and then it wouldn't do anything but hum - I cleaned every hose, snaked the drain, etc. I then called the water company who spent a couple of hours checking out the drains for roots while I tried to save the load of mildewed towels from my last load. They got a kick out of my bleach buckets and even the wheelbarrow filled with laundry :(
After all options were gone I contacted Sears who sent a service tech out today. I spent $202.00 on a new drain pump with an option of buying a year warranty for almost $400.00!!! It would have been more, but I found a 20% off coupon for service calls online. I can't afford the extended warranty and even if I could, a year isn't worth that much. I am so upset, as I know I bought a lemon and am waiting for what is next. Sears, don't break your cycle of standing behind your products. I strongly feel I should be reimbursed. Please contact me.

Kenmore Series 110 washing machine - My three year old washing machine began making very loud noise during the spin cycle. Turns out the bearings and seals are shot. A four to five hundred dollar repair according to the technician. My last Kenmore lasted 22 years. I want the old model back!

After 20 yrs with my old Kenmore I just bought a new machine through Sears Can...I deliberately did not buy an HE. I am a weaver and when I finish things I've woven, I need to control the washing process. I did not realize that the lid-lock is continually in effect. Stop the lock and I can't watch the washing process. Then I discover there is no "soak" cycle. (I also run a small guest house and towels frequently need to soak before a wash cycle.) What designer/programmer, in his infinite idiocy, chose to set the default at "empty"?! This is moronic! Fill the machine and get distracted and leave the lid up--it empties. Realize I set the wrong cycle and change the dial--it empties. Close the lid and let it sit--it empties.
Add to this the fact that the towels are NOT coming out clean. I have tried different cycles, more detergent, hotter water. I have washed twice. I have let things soak. (Put the drain hose into the machine, let it drain back into the drum, pull the electrical plug. Let sit. Put hose into clean garbage can, insert electrical plug and now, even if I want to wash, it drains--into the can. Start from beginning and bucket soapy water into drum as it begins to fill. Start wash. For this I paid nearly $700 CAD tax included. I'm putting it on Kijiji as soon as I can find a Speed Queen replacement. And am trying to get my old machine back in service until then. Never again, Kenmore.

Do not buy this item. We spent a lot of money in the pair washer/dryer and the washer started to rust around the bleach compartment within months (even though I have never used bleach on my clothes). I wished I had read the reviews online. There are hundreds of reviews where people complain about the rusting on this machine. I'm planning on talking to a lawyer, and open a Class Action Lawsuit. This machine should be on their list of recall items and people should be compensated. My friend had the upper part replaced but started rusting again within months after use. Sears appliances (Kenmore) are not what they used to be. I am actually closing my credit card I have with them. Very disappointed! Advice: Don't buy this washer, it will RUST!

I am very disappointed with my Kenmore front load washer I purchased April 2011. I did not purchase extended warranty, I sure expected a Kenmore to last at least 10 years with previous purchases I made with Sears appliances. The repair guy estimated 1000.00 to repair. We said no thanks because I can buy new for that price. So, this Tuesday, I have a new top load washer coming and this Kenmore is going to the dump. My new machine is costing me 1200.00 bucks. The problem with the Kenmore is it will not spin the clothes out, the clothes stay very wet. I would like a refund, however I am not expecting you to do much for me, but it would be nice to offer me some money back. I still have the receipt for the washer. I hope you consider some refund.

Kenmore does NOT participate to monitor feedback on ConsumerAffairs and resolve your issues. Sears should monitor feedback on ConsumerAffairs. My 2 year old top washer sounds like a jet engine on spin cycle and is tearing small holes in my t-shirts. Now it stopped pumping water out of the drain cycle. I am done with Sears and their crappy quality. I was brought up on Sears. No wonder they are fighting for survival. Selling junk to cut corners for profit will eventually catch up with them.

Purchase a kenmore washer and dryer in september 2012 from sears. Today august 17 noticed rust forming around the perimeter of the bleach dispenser. First amazed that this should happen to a kenmore. Then after reading similar messages on the web, disappointed that Kenmore has not done anything to correct the problem. And by disavowing any responsibility for the issue under warranty, by doing this I have the impression that they knew of this issue some time ago. I will try and correct the problem but like many others have found.... rust never really goes away. May be the last time I buy a Kenmore and products from whatever manufacturer actually makes the machine. There was a time, if in nothing else, you could trust a Kenmore.

Kenmore Elite Washer Model 26-280092 - We purchased a Kenmore Elite Washer and Dryer and have had nothing but trouble with the washer. I have went and bought a used washer for $50.00 that has lasted longer than this thing has. We have had the drum and bearing assembly replaced 3 times, top lid with chlorine dispenser. It constantly gives us error codes on control panel, will not go to the setting you try to put it on until multiple tries. Sometimes it just shuts down. Fortunately, we bought a service agreement when we bought the appliances or we would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. However, we are sick and tired of having to deal with a broke down washer. You bet I'm angry. This washer was not cheap!!!

A few years ago we purchased a washer and dryer (front -load) for condo living from Sears. Fortunately, before the warranty had expired (1 year) the dryer stopped working and it was replaced. Not pleased with the situation but "it happens". At the time of purchase we opted for warranty on both the items but as time passed the cost of the warranty kept increasing and it was decided that we should discontinue the warranty as it was becoming very costly. Not long after the decision was made the washer stopped working. It was not within our budget to replace these costly items and thus I had no other choice but to use public laundry (not hygienic) - therefore we never purchase Kenmore products again! Given the inconvenience that I and my family have had to go through I feel that I should be compensated for this?!

Sometimes, I'll open the door after a cycle to put the wash into the dryer, and everything on the bottom is sopping wet.
I've tried adjusting the clothes thinking it didn't spin because it's unbalanced, but even empty it won't spin. Then, two hours later, it might decide to spin. When I emailed Sears, I was sent a generic email response to the effect of, "Your washer only has a one year warranty, unless you purchased extended warranty... It should not take hours for a load. I wanted new because the old one at least 35 years old was taking what I felt was a long time to wash. This is what I get for thinking. At least the old one ran, washed the clothes faster, I could open the lid anytime I felt like it. It actually switched cycles!
I hate Kenmore, will never buy anything made by them again. I'm going to buy another Brand new washer but it will not be a Kenmore! I'm not scamming anyone else into this pile of garbage either. I'm using it for target practice! (I live in the country so I can do that) I'm recording it, sending it to Kenmore! They are the worst company out there! Bad products. Horrible customer service. I bought the washer and dryer set with the pedestals when I had my house built 8 years ago and spent over $2,500. I will never, ever again buy such an expensive set and will never, ever again buy anything from Sears. The dryer went out last year (year 7) and had more error codes than I knew what to do with. The cost for a technician to come out and just look is approximately $300 and that cost only includes them coming out - nothing is yet fixed. So, I went on the internet and read that the problem I was having was likely a control board. I called Sears to get a new one (approximately $300) and was told (after I specifically asked) if I could return the board if it turned out not to be the problem. I was told that I could. The board they sent me was reconditioned (RECONDITIONED!) and didn't work either.
I called Sears to get a return part and was told since it came from their overseas supplier, I could not return it. So, I spent a ridiculous amount of money for a simple dryer that doesn't last and then spent more ridiculous amounts of money trying to fix it only to learn that not only does Sears not stand behind their products, but they also don't stand by their return policy. I bought a new dryer through Home Depot -- a holiday sale and military discount provided me with a new dryer for UNDER $300. Now the washer is gone. No error messages, nothing. I've learned not to call a technician and not to order replacement parts from Sears. I'm simply buying a new washer, which will no doubt be much cheaper than trying to fix the joke that Sears put out. I highly recommend buying from another company (Sears cannot be trusted with the parts, service, or guarantees). They suckered me but good.

My Sears Kenmore Elite washer will not get out stains. To be fair the unit is out of warranty but is only a year and a half old. Because of health issues, I didn't start getting clothes dirty until this spring. It will not remove simple stains like dirt and when I started started to smell some clothes, they didn't smell clean coming right out of the machine. For example my socks smelled as bad coming out of the wash as they did going in. I would think it would be unsanitary to wear clothes that are not clean.
When I purchased the the set online in September 2012, they were giving it a 5 star rating. I looked at past models and they only showed 3 stars but this was a new model and I assumed improvements had been made. Looking online today, Consumer Reports gives it a 53 rating out of 100 and others rate it 3.2 out of 10 and even Sears rates it low and the biggest complaint was that it didn't get out stains or get clothes clean in general. I first called the 800 number Customer Service number in the book and the person that I spoke too suggested that I try to purchase an extended warranty then break the machine on purpose and see if they replace it. As bad as this sounds I do think she was trying to help knowing they would not do anything with it being out of warranty. Then I called Sears the first thing that they said is that is was a LG machine, and the second thing was that it was out of warranty and they would do nothing to help me. I then called customer service who said the same until I told them I would cancel my Sears Card.
At that point, I was transferred to Customer Retention who eventually decided to send a technician to my house and some negotiation waved the service charge. I did ask him to speak with the service technician on the phone before he made the appointment because I thought he would be wasting him time after reading all the online information that says it just doesn't clean. The conversation didn't happen and the next morning about 8:45, the service technician called and asked me what was wrong with the washer. I told him it didn't get clothes clean. Then he started to say that I needed special laundry soap and that I shouldn't use fabric softener. Anyhow he declined to come because like me, I thought the machine was working as designed but wouldn't get all clothes clean. He eventually told me thank and added it was because the washer didn't use enough water to clean clothes. I called Sears later and told them what had happened and they would not help me and that case # ** would be closed.
I did at that point close my Sears account. I did call Sears again to get an address to send information from Small Claims Court. I then decided to send an email to LG to see if they might help since it is manufactured by them and it is their design. The very first thing they said was that it was a Kenmore and that it was a Sears. I sent them back a reply asking them several questions including who did the design, hold the pattern, and the drawings. I didn't receive a response. I did call an 800 number and talk to someone who did give me an address so that the court could get them information. So I am looking into taking both companies to Small Claims Court together so that a Judge may decide who should lose $1029 for a product that doesn't clean.

From day one, both the washer AND the dryer left clothes with a nasty odor. We wiped the washer dry, left washer and dryer doors open when finished, tried bleach, vinegar, baking soda, Tide and Affresh washing machine cleaners to no avail, for (3) years.
Fortunately, we bought the extended warranty for the washer ONLY and after the first year, the clutch went out. Then we had the infamous recall to fix "spinning" problems which resulted in increasing an already unbearable cycle time. I purchased this washer years ago. From day one it vibrates heavily while spinning. At lease 2-3 times a year it had to be re-balanced. The machine was installed in a second floor (house) and after years of use, the floor around it is being affected by its strong vibrations. Every year I had to pay out of pocket to maintain the maintenance agreement.
This year, after paying 200+ for the agreement, when I called for them to come and balance the machine, they deny the service. I feel cheated, and totally taken by Sears for selling a product and installing it on a second floor, when they knew it was not a good place to put it. I also feel it is unfair that no one warned us about the heavy vibrations the machine does in the spinning mode. Second, I feel cheated by them selling me the service contract by phone and not specifying that it did not cover balancing the machine anymore when they had do so for all the previous years.
When I tried to talk to someone in their department, they would not give me any information as to where or who should I contact to complain about the machine. I came about this website on my own and decided to write my experience with Sears and with Kenmore. If anyone knows where I could bring this issue to light, I would appreciate it. I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washer in 12/2011. In roughly 12-13 months, the area around the bleach dispenser started to show signs of rust/corrosion. I contacted the Sears customer solutions group and they arranged a service call, which I paid for, to assess and confirm that there truly is rust/corrosion around the dispenser! I was quoted almost $300 for the repair, however the technician stated that there was a Service Flash for this very issue which apparently warrants a notification and how to handle it. This service flash SF26-813 clearly states as a repair as having a redesigned cover and dispenser along with having the cover "completely painted".
This obviously was a manufacturing defect that, when I started addressing with Sears, turned into a hot potato hand-off, from one department to another, without any sign of helping resolve the issue. They even sent me to LG, the manufacturer, to try to have them do something for me, instead of them bringing the issue to LG as their vendor and expecting resolution and seeking reparations. I finally was given a case number that was essentially useless since there is no direct contact person to work with, which in effect results in multiple "solutions group" people passing on emails trains without any point of contact. I even asked for direct contact and provided my phone number through every email...but still no call.
This is the ultimate shell game with consumers...create a "customer solutions" group to help you...but don't actually have this group do anything to foster customer solutions. I was however offered $65 for part of the original service call. I even asked if "they" even interact with their vendors... in this case LG, to force them to own up to poor engineering and design, to help rebuild credibility and demonstrate responsibility for their products. I am Sear's customer not LG's, and as such Sears should have an obligation to me. They in turn need to hold LG accountable for their inferior manufacturing design. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer? Sadly...this is a bygone saying.

Kenmore Washing Machine Model #110.20022013 - About a month ago, we bought a new Kenmore washer. After about three washes, the lid lock light began flashing, and the washer would not go into the washing cycle. We called Kenmore appliance repair, and they replaced the washing machine with another identical Kenmore machine. Now after two weeks, the lid lock has begun flashing again for no apparent reason. I was able to make the machine work by unplugging it which then allowed the machine to start a new cycle. I spoke to the manager at Sears store, and he said this might be caused by a recent power outage. But I am concerned that this will happen again, and that as with the first machine, the washer will not work. We are still probably under warranty. But I don't want to wait too long. Do you have any suggestions? Do all washers contain these lid locks? Do they all have problems?

I have had this Kenmore Elite Top Load washer approximately 2 years. The washer cost was on the high side but I thought I deserved a nice washer since I wash a lot of clothes. Immediately I noticed that the clothes didn't appear to get as clean as with other washers I've used. The washer was constantly getting out of balance. There was a recall and a gentleman came to my house and did something to the washer to prevent the unbalance issue. The washer still gets out of balance constantly and again my clothes are not getting as clean as with my other washers. I wish I'd saved my money and bought an older washer with an agitator or possibly side loader. I am very, very, disappointed with my purchase and will NEVER purchase another Kenmore item again.

In the 14 months since I have lived in this home, all of these appliances have either completely failed or are starting to. After only 6 yrs of use, these appliances are nothing but trouble. These machines are obviously well beyond their warranty terms so I have absolutely no recourse to have them repaired and even if I did, there is no chance that I would. It is quite clear to me that if you wish to purchase appliances for your home that you expect to last, DO NOT BUY KENMORE!!! The microwave is completely nonfunctional, the range has started to fail, the dishwasher never worked well, the clothes washer leaks and has been replaced and the clothes dryer has begun to fail. Hundreds of people have gone online to complain about oil spots on clothes from Kenmore Elite washers. Their "strategy" is to deny the problem as their path of damage control. Owners are told it's fabric softener, the wrong soap, their water softener, overloading. They know this is bull. They have made a conscious decision to buffalo the public by acting like this is always a surprise at every service call. Hey Sears! Pick up a few offending machines and troubleshoot them until you find the offending part(s). You replace a part at a time until the spots are gone...duh! This absolutely needs to be a class action suit.
Don't tell me Sears isn't playing dumb. Anyone can get on the Internet and read hundreds of complaints. And you will see these posts followed up by carefully scripted responses from Sears Service Dept. This is a skillfully choreographed response to stonewall owners of these washers. Even their own service technicians say Sears won't even tell them anything until a recall is announced. Until then, the word is out, "Everybody play dumb while we decide what to do." Don't sit home day after day waiting for repairmen to tell you it's your detergent, your water softener, your fabric softener. Their own technicians tell me, anonymously, that the overdone technology washes clothes with too little water.
Owners are being told to use as little as a tablespoon of HE detergent. Then you're left with too little water + too little detergent = clothes that don't get washed. If you haven't gotten the drift of this post yet, I'll spell it out. This is a design and engineering problem. Unless you plan to redesign how your Kenmore Elite washes clothes, you aren't going to fix this problem. My washer and dryer combo is going back to Sears. If they refuse, my next step will be an attorney who isn't shy about filing class action suits. It would look a lot better for Sears if they'd stop playing dumb and step up to the plate. If not, we'll drag Sears up to the plate.

It is impossible to do laundry. I HATE THIS WASHER. I WOULD NOT BUY A THING FROM SEARS. They lie and tell you they will stand by a product but they do not. I have had nothing but Kenmore Appliances made by Whirlpool for 47 years my first bad experience. I did return to Sears and bought new Kenmore made by Whirlpool, the plain jane this time. I do not want another bearing balancing tub washer as I understand there is a recall on some units because of the failure rate, but not this one. Why Kenmore again, because I trained Sears's salesman to sell appliances for 36 years, and cannot change, tried to make myself go to Lowes, just could not---what loyalty. What a slap in the face this "offer" is! Especially after purchasing four major appliances from Sears three years ago (along with numerous items since). Our gas stove (Kenmore) and refrigerator (Whirlpool) are starting to show many issues as well. Our Kenmore washer, purchased in 2006, stopped working recently. Error code F22 appeared on the front panel which is a door latch failure. I ordered another latch and installed it myself. When I attempted to operate the washer the latch immediately failed again and gave the F22 code. I then called Sears appliance repair. When they finally showed up, the technician put a new latch assembly in and it too immediately failed. He said the controller was sending a continuous latch signal which destroys the latch and that I would need a new controller and latch. We had purchased an extended warranty for $319.00 which would cover up to $500.00 in repairs but the price he quoted went beyond that by $287.00.
I saw no other choice so I authorized the repair. After the technician left, I looked on the Sears parts website to compare the part prices he had quoted us and found that the repair guy's price was double the price Sears quoted. I called the technician to ask him why and he said he had no control over pricing and that I would have to complain to Sears. The Sears rep told me that the repair people get their parts from a different source. I told him there was no way I was going to pay double and asked for a refund on the parts and cancelled the warranty. I eventually received my two refunds. I bought the "water saving" Kenmore Elite Calypso and it has not only dramatically increased my water and electric bills (because of having to wash items multiple times) but it actually ruined clothes by tearing small holes into the fabric. The sensor doesn't work so the the washer doesn't fill with water but rather "sprays" the clothes; I've taken clothes out of the washer that were dry to the touch. It stores dirt so when a bulky item was washed, it came out lined with black streaks. I have to take heavy items to a laundromat.
Light-colored items routinely come out of the washer with dark streaks; dark clothes are left with pale blotches (laundry detergent?). Lastly, the washer manages to tear small holes into items. Unfortunately, I researched the machine after buying only to see that the machine was so flawed that a class action lawsuit was filed; I called Sears about my machine and was told that my model was "fine." Bought the Kenmore Oasis Washing Machine, 110.270 and just like thousands of others on this board, my machine started showing an F1 error code. It also started shaking the house and sounded like a rocket taking off during the spin cycle. Just google "Whirlpool bearing" or "Kenmore bearing" and you'll see many more issues just like mine. Turns out, Kenmore/Sears is doing a "quiet recall" of the control board. They'll send a tech out to replace your control board. This procedure takes no more than 15 minutes to complete and the average homeowner could do it themselves in minutes. HOWEVER...
What is not under "quiet recall" is the loud and unbearable rocket sound during the spin cycle. That fix will require that your bearings be replaced on your unit. Is the bearing failure caused by the bad control board? I'm not an engineer so I don't know but if I read the 1000's of posts, you rarely see one without the other. So this is where the story gets interesting. According to Sears, Whirlpool offers a 10-year warranty on the Whirlpool tub of the washing machine. The Whirlpool tub hereto now includes the bearings and shaft. Well, guess what? Whirlpool started fielding so many complaints that they made a kit (separate from the tub) that allows technicians to replace the bearings separate from the tub. Guess what? That bearing kit is not covered by the 10-year warranty because it's now considered separate from the tub.
It will now cost the homeowner $160-180 for the bearing kit and approximately $150-$200 for the service. That equates to roughly $350++ to repair a part that is clearly a manufacturer defect. This defect is so popular that appliance shops have created videos on how to fix the machine yourself. There are many posts about the poor quality of the Whirlpool Cabrio and Kenmore Oasis washing machines - related to the bearing failure and the control board issues. I have lost complete confidence in both of these brands for how they have handled the issue. I will do my best to never purchase either brand in the future.

Well sure enough, it hasn't worked properly and keeps giving me an unbalanced load error code. It keeps filling with water and draining, 2.5 hours the first time before I stopped it and put it on Drain and Spin and continually have to monitor it with every wash. Yesterday, I put it on the recommended Clean cycle with just a cup of bleach and it ran 5.5 hours, until 10:30 pm, still with the unbalanced error code, no clothes, etc. until I finally just turned it off. The tech who called and said he would be out last week never showed up or called. I am going to call the national Sears customer service (1-800-549-4505) line again and complain, not much hope for help with this problem though. Is there a class action case?

I have owned my Kenmore Elite Oasis for four and one half years. The only reason why I had to purchase a new washer was because I lost my old one (a Maytag) when my basement flooded. I thought that purchasing a Kenmore would be a good idea. My parents always purchased Kenmores and never had problems. Boy, was I wrong! After the first year, my troubles began. I have had the bearing replaced 4 times, as well as the computer board and suspension rods. Thank goodness I purchase a master agreement plan each year, since all this had been covered.
The icing in the cake happened 2 weeks ago, when again I was getting the UL code. The first repairman came out and replaced the rods and made some other adjustments. He leaves and I start a load, then get the F51 code! I angrily call back and of course had to make another appointment. I was told all they had to do was reset the computer. Repairman 2 comes out and tells me it is more than the computer, it is the bearing. So there goes week 2 with no washer, and another trip to the laundromat. I was then told that my machine qualifies for the lemon clause, and Sears would email me a replacement cost. They quoted me $830, so I just went out and bought a LG machine. I'm done with Kenmore brands, they are junks. For all the money and service calls Sears has had to pay on this machine, they could have bought me four washers! It has been three aggravating years owning this machine, and I would not recommend an Oasis to anyone.

They tore my floor up in my laundry room, then lied and said that it was already like that. The owner of the store came out and thought that he was just going to cut a little piece of linoleum and patch it together but I wouldn't let him. He also had such a bad attitude that I asked him to get out. The washer cannot be leveled and vibrates and jumps around. They said that my floor was weak, but little do they know that there is an extra beam and support in the laundry room area. They are complete liars and scam artists. My last washer, one that I didn't purchase from Sears, nor was it Kenmore Elite, never had a level problem.
Now, the service guy came out AGAIN because the control panel on the dryer started malfunctioning. This is all within 5 1/2 months of purchase. So what happens when my warranty runs out? I guess they think that I'm just another animal that they're gonna leech from but it's not gonna happen! I called Sears corporate and asked for a refund and they laughed and refused. I told them that I was going to file Lemon Law suit against them but they don't care. Their insurance will pay for it.
We bought Kenmore Elite (over $2000.00) because we wanted something that would last us for years. LOL. Looks like we made a big mistake. We have no confidence in Kenmore anymore. We're not rich and cannot run out and buy another washer and dryer, so we're pretty much screwed. How could two different companies (Sears, Kenmore) do people this way and get away with it? Bought a Kenmore Elite Oasis washer, model 110.27092602 about five years ago. I've had numerous repairs from the beginning. The control board was recalled and that was replaced because it kept giving error codes. Then the interface board had to be replaced. There were several other repairs that I can't recall and it NEVER washed clothes clean. I put something in with some dirt on it and it comes out with the dirt on it. Some parts of clothing aren't even WET so how can they get washed???
But the machine does an excellent job and tangling them up and tearing them. Clothes get so tangled and wrinkled I can't get them apart! At 5 yrs of age the drum insulation went and Sears informed me that parts are no longer made. For a 5 yr old machine? My husband had to take it apart and rig up some housing insulation to stop it from banging. We are using it, but our clothes remain dirty and tangled. We just can't afford to buy another!
The Elite Oasis electric dryer sometimes dries, sometimes doesn't. It will sometimes dry for hours, never signaling that it's done. Other times it signals it's done when clothes are wet, so the sensors are all off. It was always that way. I just didn't want to pay for it to be repaired. These machines were VERY EXPENSIVE and are complete garbage. Sears refused to take them back from day one. The only thing they would offer was 10% off on a new one. Who would want a new one of these? I've been tempted to replace them with free machines people offer on CL when they are foolish enough to buy new machines and get rid of their old agitator washers.

On 2/19/2010, I purchased the Kenmore Elite Washer Model # 796.4102. I also have the Kenmore Elite Dryer Model # 796.8102. Both units have provided nothing besides headaches, damage to our clothing and frustration. I will never do business with Sears again (rumor has it you are going out of business anyway).
First of all, my motor went out on my washer that has a 10-year warranty. Sears would not stand behind their parts warranty since I did not have the A&E guy come out and service it and pay him $75! It cost me for labor $114.50 and $147.00 respectively just for labor to fix the defective motor of your product. For the parts, it cost me $69.55 & $55.90 respectively. This was for the Stator Assembly and for the new wash machine motor. I have receipts for all of the OEM parts and service work that was completed by Tolson Appliance Center Inc. 540-347-3030. Jim did the work. Nice guy.
The motor on the washer burnt out. The washer also leaks water when you wash towels and has a defective design flaw in how it vents the water in the back. My pan fills up and drains water on a regular basis. The unit is at fault and I'm out of pocket now (not to mention the time and frustration) to fix just the washer - $386.95. The cost of the washer was $1127.99! This does not include setup, delivery etc., charges...
We also purchased on the same date as the washer the Kenmore Elite dryer (dryer cost = $1057.49) model # 796.8102 (Electric). It's under four years old and nothing but problems, frustration and damage. In 2011, we had Sears come out and "allegedly" fix the removable lint dryer for $129.00 on Friday, October 14, 2011. Then we called and complained about the design flaw with the lint dryer filter (the removable slat that has the screen where each time you remove it to clean off the lint) a.k.a. lint trap. The customer service people said it was warped and sent us a new one. The same exact issue happened again in under 3 months. My Nike sweat pants are damaged ($60 bucks). All of my wife's camis are damaged; our 900+ thread count sheets from Italy are damaged. The dryer lint is a serious design flaw that is causing serious damage to our clothing and we are very upset. I have pictures and receipts of everything, all of the parts and labor service work and all of the damage to our clothing.
Now, last week, the dryer stopped working. We had an A&E guy come out who said the motor in the dryer is fried and that to fix everything it's going to cost us (with the new control board) over $500! This is crazy; not even four years old and both units are ready to be hauled to the curb and are causing damage to our home (leaking washer) and to our clothing, dryer - lint trap design flaw. Now I don't have a dryer that works and spent almost $400 to fix the washer and now you, Sears (A&E), want me to fork over $500 to fix the washer that is not even 4 years old! I don't think so; this has to stop! I'm done doing business with SEARS and will not spend one more penny with SEARS Holding.
Stand behind your products. Replace my dryer with one that does not have the design flaw with the lint trap, refund my cost to fix the washer (parts & labor) and replace my washer with a washer that does not leak. Does Sears sell appliances to fall apart in a few years and ** customers with repair, parts and service work? This is completely unethical. Why would someone design a dryer with the steam option that vents directly into the electrical controller board to make the board electronics damp and crap out? Why would a white box appliance that should have a minimum design life of at least 10 years be crapping out in under four? Why would Sears sell a washer that constantly leaks water and pose potential damage to home owners, their home and dryers and damage clothing?
If you want to follow up with me on this, you call me. I'm not waiting on hold for hours for someone to send me a $50 gift card!

The drum has gone bad and needs replacing; the drum and other parts are warrantied but the $665 in labor is not. Really??? Do you think they would think about giving you a labor price that is higher than most new washers in their store? Do they expect people to logically agree to these labor prices instead of buying a new washer? This front loading washer with all the bells and whistles was on sale and did not even cost that much to buy!!!
I have never had an issue with a washer or dryer. Growing up, we had one for 15 years with no problems. Luckily, I found out my home warranty will pick up the costs but this is a per occurrence thing so if it breaks again, I have no backup to pay for it. What a piece of junk - 2 years old and all these problems. If I have any more problems, I am going out to buy a new non-Sears product washer since it will be cheaper than fixing this junker which will probably have another problem in the next two years. We purchased a Kenmore "Elite" front load washer and dryer in 2011. In the same year that the one-year warranty expired, the washer quit working. The Sears repairman informed us that the motherboard on the washer was bad. The cost to replace was just under $1,000 and it was not covered by warranty. A washer that costs $2,000 should last much longer than a year. The laws in most states impose a warranty of merchantability on sellers and manufacturers. If a seller puts an item on the market, it is required by law to make sure that the product is fit for its stated purpose.
Now less than 10 months later, the brand new motherboard has failed again. I spoke with both the Sears and the Kenmore service representatives, who were polite. However, they were unable to offer anything satisfactory. Both offered a $320, 1-year warranty that covers repairs up to $500. Anything over $500 comes out of my pocket. Basically, a $180 benefit which is not a real benefit. I will probably sue Sears and Kenmore for the defective product to recover the purchase and repair expense. This has nothing to with their stated warranty, which is contract law. I definitely will not buy anything else from Sears or Kenmore until they improve their products and repair policy. I have seen many other similar complaints about this washer. It should have been recalled.

I can by an extended contract for $319.99 for 1 year and it covers up to 1 year or I can pay a trip charge of $75 plus labor, plus parts which I was informed that often front loader repairs get expensive and the contract is the best route to go. WHAT DO I DO? Low on money, low on confidence with this brand I bought thinking it would last more than 2 years 11 months, and low on patience now. Help!

I purchased a new Calypso washing machine from Sears in 2003, and initially loved it. But after finding my clothes were not getting clean, they were smelling mildewed, and it finally broke altogether, I scheduled numerous repair appointments with Sears. Each time I found that my machine was broken again shortly thereafter. (By the way, Sears Service is another sad story, and I think once you purchase a repair and maintenance plan, you are last on their schedule.) After, much complaining and saying I was filing an action under the "lemon law," they agreed to credit me the amount of purchase for a new washer.
I bought the Kenmore HE4t with this credit in 2005. I have been able to reset some error messages, but today it just stopped working. Maybe I shouldn't be upset as I have gotten 8 years of service from it, but what upset me was, once again, that there was a recall for my Kenmore machine, and the problem I am having is a common one, with many complaints: it is not registering the door lock (F/dL). Decades ago, Sears was known for quality. I feel like all they make now is pretty crap that they charge a lot of money for.

Recently, our Kenmore washing machine stopped functioning. The service tech came and told us it would cost $1000 to replace 2 circuit boards in the machine. We purchased this machine as an upgrade from our previous Kenmore washing machine. We have always been happy with the Kenmore brand, but now we are seriously questioning our decision to be loyal Sears customers. We did not purchase the service plan with this washing machine specifically because we felt the Kenmore brand name was quality enough. After speaking with 5 customer service reps, we got nowhere. Sears is not the company they once were.

Numerous Fdl, F11 and vibration problems: I purchased the machine in mid 2005 with five-year extended warranty. I had the CCU on both washer and dryer replaced. I complained numerous times over the course of five years about vibration and tub actually banging against the case. Each time, the technicians would stonewall me saying they could not replicate the problem. I repaired the CCU again and vibration has gotten worse. Finally, I heard about class action lawsuit going forward, but now after three years out of extended warranty, I am ready to give up and buy an LG or Samsung. So my laundry pair lasted 8 years and cost me over $2,000. My previous set cost half that and lasted 14 years. No more Sears for me, sad to say. Frustrating, to say the least.

The repair tech was great but he does not work directly for Sears. I called Sears and complained and was told there was nothing they could do for the smell. We have had Kenmore products for our entire married life of 49 years. I purchased the Kenmore front load washer, model 4031, in January 2010. Exactly one year and one month later, we were noticing the noise coming from it was like a helicopter flying over our house. Considering it is in the basement, that's loud! We had a serviceman come and check it out. He said the bearing was shot and it would have to have a new drum, etc., to the tune of around $700+. It also puts a nice groove in the see-through door material due to the banging around, I guess. Plus I found a seal of some sort in my wet clothes - looked as if it had been cut into. Well then we had to get an anti-hammer device as when it would fill with water, it caused the pipes to about vibrate out of their brackets (Sears says this is a common problem).
So to top everything else off, water now runs out the front onto the floor when I wash. My husband is retired. We bought this $1,800 set thinking we would be good for quite a few years and not just a couple. We are very upset with Sears. I went to them right away when all this started. They told me no one had had any problems at all with these! I, of course, have the horrible smell on everything, plus streaks on light clothes. I am just sick about this. I also was one of the lucky ones that had the Neptune set that caused Maytag all the grief. Can't believe I have been ripped off again. Just don't really know what to do!

Kenmore Elite Washing Machine - We received the recall notice, and even though we have experienced no issues with our washing machine since we purchased it several years ago, my husband called to schedule the service because it was a safety recall. The technician came out on February 8th and slowed the speed of the spin cycle on the bulky items selection. The first time I washed clothes after that, I had multiple UE (unbalanced error) and it actually took one cycle 2 hours and 45 minutes before I could finally get the clothes clean and rinsed somewhat, and then spun out and into the dryer. I tried several other cycles, selecting different spin speeds, and never could wash a load without standing around redistributing the clothes in the tub. My husband called again and they sent a different technician on February 18th, who ran diagnostics and said the tests showed nothing was wrong. He advised me on how to wash clothes - two of each item, large loads, etc. - and said there appeared to be nothing wrong after he ran a partial cycle with no clothes in the washer. He instructed me to let it finish and then he closed the ticket.
Today, once again, all my weekly loads had UE multiple times during the cycles. My husband called Sears again and it will be two more weeks - now it will be March - before they can send another technician. The lady offered him a discount on a new washing machine if he wanted to replace this one! Needless to say, my advice is don't call and have the "reprogramming" done if you haven't experienced the issues described in the recall notice.

I bought the Sears Kenmore Elite top-loading, high-efficiency washing machine (manufactured by LG) in May 2011 for close to $1,000. At first, it was fine. A few weeks ago (January 2013), it started overflowing every time it fills. I watched the numbers on the control board go wonky instead of counting down the minutes sequentially. It overflows on the wash cycle, won't drain unless I stop the cycle, and manually select drain/spin, then it drains perfectly. I recognize a wacky computer when I see one, so I unplugged it thinking it might reset itself. Problem keeps happening. I researched it on the internet and saw that there is defective casing material used in the manufacture and the motherboard gets wet!
I called Sears expecting the company I knew from all these years to be there. But all I get is cryptic, non-answers to direct questions and pressure to purchase a service agreement. I've been unemployed for a few months and I don't have $230 to put into a $1,000 machine that I just bought! Oh, and by the way, if the repair costs more than $500, your service agreement doesn't cover the additional cost. You get to take care of that out of your own pocket. I wanted Sears to come fix the problem caused by faulty manufacture or at least give me a straight answer about what the likely cause of the problem is and how much it would take to fix it. It doesn't matter who it is, whoever you're talking to doesn't have the information you need. You get transferred or disconnected. Whoever you're transferred to doesn't have the information you need either and can't imagine why the first person transferred you to them. I don't believe a corporation would permit such incompetence if it didn't pay off.
So I did some more research and found out on Consumer Reports that my unit was covered by a recall. I called Sears back and asked them, "Why are you trying to sell me a service agreement for a unit that is covered by a recall?" explaining again how the machine was flooding my laundry room. They said, "Oh, that's totally unacceptable," says the agent. "Let me transfer you to the Product Resolution department." The Product Resolution guy puts me on hold to look into it for several minutes. (If I ever hear a Sears customer service person say they're going to look into it again, I'll start getting suspicious!) The Product Resolution guy says "Yes, you are under recall. We'll set up a recall appointment for the same time you had the service call, and we'll cancel your service agreement and refund your money within 4 days." (This is less than an hour after I had caved on the service agreement upsell.)
Mind you, this appointment is 10 days in the future, the best they can do. Their technicians are very busy and they won't tell you what time of day, or give you a number to contact the technician, or any information that would empower you to have control of your day. Sometime between 8am and 5pm, so in the interim, I got a job and they would like me to start the day before this appointment. Now, I have to delay my start date so that I won't have to deal with personal business the first week of my new job. Already Sears has cost me $375 in lost wages. So, today is the day. The technician gets here to fix my washing machine under recall. It turns out that the recall is a software update that the technician says will not address the overflowing problem. I got Sears on the phone while the technician is still here, more runaround, more transferring, more looking into it, an offer of $65 off a repair call for which they won't estimate a total cost. (And I don't believe this is not the first time they've had this conversation; a helpful person would say something like, at worst it's this, at best it's that.)
Finally, I talked to a supervisor, went through the whole story again, and I asked her what she would advise if I were her mother. She told me this isn't personal with me. Sears can't provide you any more services because the machine is no longer under warranty. I replied with "Sears can, but it won't. Sears knows there's an issue with this machine, and it's happy to have its brand associated with it when you're charging $1,000 but you don't want to stand behind it when there's a problem. A new washing machine doesn't act like this and I can see other people on the internet have had the same problem." I believe their new business model is to hold customers hostage to an outrageous initial investment on products with known defects and then gouge them for repairs. If it already costs a lot, why not pay a little more? The whole customer service process is set up to make it so painful that you just cave in. It's immoral, and if it isn't illegal, it ought to be. If there's a class action suit, I want to be part of it.

I called Sears to complain and of course, they said I could get a repairman out! I told them it was 6 months old! My husband ordered a new board and put it in then it worked! Yesterday, based on some other reviews I read while contemplating my two cents, I checked the water temp when the machine was placed on a warm rinse. Guess what? It's cold water. This machine is disappointing and so are the responses given by Sears when you contact them with the concerns. No longer covered by manufacturer's warranty. True. Didn't purchase extended warranty. I purchased the pair of Kenmore Elite Oasis Canyon size washer and dryer in August of 2007. I have spent so much money on repairs, and I simply want to put it on the sidewalk with a warning sign for anyone who will take it. It began less than a year after I purchased it. First, it was the F1 code. It turns out that the control board was faulty. They paid for a portion of it, but I got stuck with the rest and the labor. Then, the dryer began acting up. It only dries the clothes on Timed Dry, and it usually takes 70 minutes to dry a load. Do you know how much power that uses? The washer has since been repaired two more times. The tub had to be replaced within the first 3 years. Now, I am getting the DL code, which means the door will not latch. There is nothing blocking this from happening.
I just wish Sears would honor their products and care about their customers. I also wish Kenmore would stand behind their products. When I told the repairman that washers are supposed to last longer than a decade and he said, "Not anymore.” They make them like this so they can break down, and the company can make more money. I am so sad and angry. I read the message boards from so many frustrated people like myself. We are living from paycheck to paycheck. These repairs are too costly, and so is going to the laundromat. I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washing machine. Luckily, I did purchase the warranty at that time. Shortly after the purchase, the control board went out and needed to be replaced. If I hadn't had the warranty, it would have cost me which is seriously ridiculous, that a new washer should only last a few weeks. The machine continued to have this error code to come up. We would turn it off and restart it. It would work for a little while, then the code would appear again. I finally ordered another control board in December 2011. This one worked for a month or so, then it again started having the error again. The Washer at this time continues to get an error code, although now it will not go into the spin mode no matter how many times we turn it off and on, or unplug it.
This has been a learning experience for me. This washer has been the worst major purchase I have ever made. I will not buy another Kenmore product. It's sad, because I thought they were a good name. I actually had purchased the washer, dryer, and the refrigerator at the same time. I haven't had a problem with my dryer but had a major water problem with the water line to the refrigerator. I had to replace the water line twice to the refrigerator. It had leaked and flooded through the floor to the ceiling below.
Needless to say, I haven't been back to Sears in a a number of years, other than to buy the filters for my refrigerator. At this point, I cannot wait for them to get back to me regarding this stupid washing machine. I feel that if you spend that much money on a machine, it should last for more than 5 years without needing major repairs.

Sears installed new washing machine in August and Sears' installer messed up the connection so we had a huge leak (out of plain sight) and lost thousands of gallons of water in California (where we have a drought and are supposed to conserve water). We had over $1000 extra on the water bill and called the specialist from DWP who had discovered this tremendous leak. I called Sears on the 4th of Jan. and they gave me emergency appointments on the 10th while I have a fountain of water gushing out. Sears rep advised not to touch (or fix) it before their technician gets here. Also, they advised me to seek reimbursement from my homeowner's insurance (that does not cover damage caused by leaking plumbing) from the home warranty company (Fidelity) that does not want to deal with it either.
The actual washing machine (Kenmore Elite) does not function as promised either. It fills out to the top while washing one pair of pants!. On Jan. 7th, I managed to get a Sears technician at my house. He rudely informed me that he couldn't help me as it was a plumbing issue and machine was plumbed in incorrectly (it was delivered, installed and plumbed in by Sears) and I needed to call my plumber. Until then he would not address the washer's technical issues. Sears supervisor, Larry, advised me on the phone not to use an outside plumber as the adjuster from Sears, Carly, will contact me and when she sends the inspector, he will evaluate the situation.
The time frame for this action is unknown. Meanwhile I am losing 100s of gallons of water in the drought state of CA and 100s of dollars as well. I also can't use the Kenmore Elite machine that costs $900 plus over $1000 in water bill due to incorrect installation by Sears and the bill keeps going up along with wasted water. I need reimbursement for expenses and a new washer properly installed (a simpler cheaper model is okay).
Today, Jan. 10th, 2013, I had called the outside plumber to fix the leak as I was losing too much water and the plumber fixed the incorrect installation by Sears and stopped the leak. Sears Technician came to check out the machine, a Kenmore Elite (model #79631512210) that has water settings on Hot, Warm, Eco Warm, Cold, Top Cold. On all of these settings, the water in the machine remains cold, not due to the incorrect connection (it has been corrected by my plumber), but due to the computer board internal setting that regulates how machine would be filled.
On Hot setting, it takes about 2 cups of hot water from the Hot hose and follows up with 2-3 gallons of cold water from the Cold hose. As a result, the washing water is cold on the Hot setting! Technician explained to me that in this high efficiency machine, it is normal as it is trying to save my gas-heated water. He said it runs normal and he spent about 5 minutes in my house. The machine could not be normal as it has same cold water temperature on 5 different temperature settings indicated on the panel of this Kenmore machine.
I need Sears/Kenmore to change this machine to another one that works as stated on description and instructions. I have no help or response from Sears so far, despite their promise to stand by their promise of quality of product and service.

I always left the door open after use and I used a maximum of 3 tablespoon of HE detergent. In 2007, I sent a letter to the customer service department explaining that mold had formed inside the rubber door seal and nothing seemed to help. I listed all the things I did and said that I was frustrated that I spent $1,000 and in three years, I was having problems. They responded with a long list of what to do for odor problems, all of which I was doing already.
Forward 5 more years and the mold seems to be getting worse despite rubbing down the interior rubber seal with Clorox sheets and drying out the area. I am concerned that I am getting sick from the mold smell. I finally went out and bought a top load washer from a reputable manufacturer. I have always bought Sears appliances but I will never buy another Kenmore appliance. This machine has ruined many of my clothes. If you don't catch the stains when the wash is done and you put them in the dryer, the stains are set. I had to throw away many of mine and my husband's clothes. I keep the door open and drain the water from the bottom. I wipe the ring down every time I use the machine. I clean the machine at least twice a month. No matter what I do, the stains still get on my clothes. The repairman said try and only fill the machine half full. I have done all these things and I still get the brown stains. Why get a maintenance agreement when they can't solve my problem?

I have had bad experiences with Whirlpool washers in the past. Less than five years ago, we decided to purchase a new washer since our two-year old Whirlpool washer was giving us endless problems. We purchased a Kenmore Elite from Sears. We did not know that our washer was actually a Whirlpool washer. We have started with the same problems with this washer as we did with our Whirlpool washer. I just learned that our machine was actually manufactured by Whirlpool. I was told by Kenmore that other Kenmore Elite washing machines were recalled with the same problem, but does not include my model.
I was transferred to so many different places, including Maytag (why Maytag?) to try to resolve my problem. If my machine is having the same problem as those other models that were recalled, there is a great chance that mine should be included in the recall. I never got to speak to the right department. The repair is costing me half of what I would have to pay for a new one. Now, I don't know where to go to get a reliable washing machine. I thought that paying a descent amount was going to give me a descent working machine. I believe that disclosing the manufacturer on appliances should be required because not everything that shines is gold. A reliable brand on the outside is not always what you get on the inside!

I bought this Kenmore 800 series washer in December 2009. I have had repairmen here 3 times. The parts are made in Mexico and they are cheap plastic. Someone needs to do a printout of all these complaints and send them to their congressman to present to Consumer Affairs (Mr. Cordray) in Washington. It's bad enough that most of our manufacturing is outsourced to foreign countries, and it is time that someone starts demanding quality control. These CEO's make millions and it’s time to demand that we, the consumer, get a better quality product.

I purchased a Kenmore 600 topload washer in 12/09. I was satisfied with its performance, but it only lasted 2 years. The springs became weak, and when the spin cycle ended, it banged, and cracked the outer tub. Repairs will cost almost as much as buying a new one. I spent considerable time researching consumer reviews and wanting an American-made product, and spent considerable money thinking the investment would last several years. It is sad that even American-made products are built to last until just after the warranty expires. The repairman didn't think these parts are even covered in the warranty. I purchased a new top of the line Kenmore Elite front load washer and dryer. After four months of use, we noticed that there was a foul smell coming from the inside of the washer. Using bleach with the washer set on the clean cycle, we would attempt to rid the washer of this horrid smell at least once every three days.
After a month of stinking clothes, we returned to the Sears store where we purchased these units and were told that all Sears front load washers mildew and that we could purchase chlorine tablets and use in place of the bleach. We were also told that what we were experiencing was nothing new, that this problem plagued this type of washers. I was never warned by the salesperson at Sears that in six months, every load of clothes would stink to high heaven! I am now done with taking time off work and waiting for repair. I have started a billing dispute and want my money back. Sears says I can schedule another appointment and they will come and take their part out. Uh... then I want my old part back! The part they took out was not broken... something else is! Kenmore Model 796.4027. It is rated as best buy by Consumer Reports. However, it has a serious design flaw. The valves close much too quickly causing massive water hammer. None of our other washers had this problem. Their solution, install new anti-water hammer devices. **. This is a design flaw in these machines. Wikipedia has a very nice treatment of what causes water hammer. I also spent a good bit of time in Engineering School studying hydraulics and this is a classic case. The valve is closing much too rapidly. The solenoid that actuates the valves needs to be redesigned. It shouldn't be hard, other washer manufacturers seem to have figured it out.
The service was prompt and courteous. He explained that this was a very common problem with newer washers. However, since nothing was replaced Kenmore/LG won't track this as the design flaw that it is. I suspect that the manufacturer actually knows about the issue but doesn't want to resolve it due to cost implications. What a lousy way to do business.

We have a Kenmore Elite Smart Wash Quietpak 4 model 11049962603 that we bought in 08/2009 with a 2-year warranty. It is now 11/2011. The machine was replacing a 30 yr. old Maytag that still worked. Our 30 yr. old dryer had died and we thought we would buy a new energy saving set. We were sorry we did. The Maytag would probably still be working. The washer just stopped working the other day. We called Sears Repair to fix it (that's where we got it from). The repair guy came out and said the motor board needed to be replaced. He quoted us $671.13 to repair it. We paid $863.99 plus taxes for the machine (see the problem here?). We refused service at this time, because we wanted to see if something could be done about the costs. In my opinion, we would be better off getting another new machine that doesn't have 2 years of wear and tear on it (we are out $129 for the service call already).
I called their 800 number to see if anything could be done. Yes, this is outsourced. I wish they would give the jobs to Americans. We need all the jobs we can get. Well, as with many others, I was told there was absolutely nothing they could do except sell me a 1-year extended warranty for $319.99. It would cover the cost of the repair guy, any parts and labor up to $500. If we take this route, we will be out $129 for the original service call, $319.99 for the warranty, and $171.13 for the costs above $500. The grand total is $620.12 (not much savings here). I called the Escalation Department at 800-376-0557 (at least, I got an American this time). Again, I was told there was nothing they could do since the warranty expired 3 months ago on my 2-year-old machine.
The entire time I questioned them all on the price of the part to fix our machine. The repair guy wanted to charge us $503 for the part. On the Sears website, the part is going for $372.70. I asked everyone why such a big difference in the price to no avail. I was told, "I don't know anything about the website.” Or, I was told, "The repair people and the website each charge their own prices.” I was told by the repair guy that if we picked up the part ourselves, he would install it for another $129 for the call. The grand total here is $501.70 plus the $129 for the original service call. Well, if you are going to gouge customers for not only the service call but also on the parts, I am taking my business elsewhere because of the principle of it all. My husband searched the part out at other places online and we found we could pick the part up starting at $142 for a refurbish and around $225ish for new (we may fix it ourselves).

I bought this washer 6 years ago. It has worked just fine until about 6 months ago. Suddenly, it started taking longer and longer to finish the cycle. Then, occasionally, it wouldn't spin the clothes and I would have to run the separate drain and spin cycle. Then, it suddenly wouldn't even do that. I called Sears. My intention was to find out what it would cost (because it was out of warranty) to replace the brain, including the labor and repair call. Instead of giving me the quote I asked for, she convinced me to buy a 1-year service policy for somewhere around $350.00 explaining that if it was the brain, it would be considerably more than that.
Then, came the clincher. If they couldn't repair it, I would be given a voucher toward a new machine. Sign me up! Guess what? Not. They came out and put in a new brain (this took a total of 4 weeks), then 2 weeks later it started the whole cycle again, only quickly this time moving into not spinning at all. I called for another repair order. They couldn't get me in for another week and a half. In the meantime, I kept working with the washer trying different cycles and stuff until I got it working again. Guess what? Now, since it won't malfunction in front of them, they have deemed it my fault! According to them, it's because I'm running unbalanced loads and using too much soap!
After 6 years of successfully using this machine, apparently, I've lost my mind! I am so frustrated I could spit! So, my solution is that I will call them each and every time it fails, and make them come out until my 1 year is up. Then, I will buy a new machine and it will not be from Sears! I'm closing my account with them and after 30 years of being a customer, I'm done!

In both cases, they put the situation in our hands to track the part and then call them "once we have the part in hand" to not waste their time. What about our time? Each occurrence has lasted a month. This means the washer has only been in use 8 of the 10 months we have had it. I think they were trying to draw out the time so it falls out of warranty.
The customer service department "term used loosely" is extremely rude. This is an outsourcing issue as there is no culpability with the product or support. The customer service person had the gall to indicate that if we feel that strongly about how bad the product is, "to write the CEO". This is actually not a bad idea, though it will be intercepted long before reaching the intended source. Once the warranty fails, we are tempted to use the National Tire & Battery plan with Sears. An appointment was scheduled for August 3, 2011. My daughter sat home for hours waiting for the tech to arrive, which they never did. They claimed that they called both my home and cell. No such calls were placed, as I have caller ID at home and my cell identifies the phone number. When asked why they never showed up, I was told by Sears Service that the appointment that I received was a "forced" appointment not a "saved". I was a bit taken back by their answer. Wow! I had no idea that an appt took on a totally whole new meaning; where was I when this took place.
Anyhow, I had to reschedule another appt for August 10, 2011 and made sure I requested a "saved" appt this time. I further told Sears Service that there was not only an F35 code but now an F20 code as well, which means an inflow water restrictions. I told Sears that there was no water restriction into the machine nor was there a drop in water pressure. When the Sears Tech arrived on August 10, 2011, he replaced the overflow switch and told my daughter that the machine was fixed. Yet, when I attempted to do a load of wash on August 12, 2011, the machine was showing the F20 again. I called Sears Service again and told them that the Sears Tech never fixed the problem with the F20 on August 10, 2011. Sears Service informed me that there were no notes on my file of the Tech performing a diagnostic test, in which he should have done to determine what was causing the F20 code. So I had to schedule another appt for August 22, 2011. Mind you, I made sure I asked if this appt was a "saved" or "forced" appt. I was now told by Sears Service that they had away with the "forced" appt sometime in the beginning of August 2011. I was like this is unbelievable. When the Sears Tech (Jeff-excellent tech) arrived on August 22, 2011, I told him that I believed that it was the PC Board that needed to be replaced because the display panel was showing all sorts of characters and shapes. He did a diagnostic test and confirmed that the control board did need to be replaced and would order the part and that another Sears Tech would be back on August 31, 2011 to install the control board. I told Jeff that I would be contacting Sears Service to confirm said appt. I did such on August 24, 2011 and all was confirmed with the Sears Service Dept for August 31, 2011.
Well, August 31, 2011 came and guess what? Once again, the Sears Tech never showed up or even called leaving my daughter waiting for hours again. By this point, I was livid and demanded to speak with a Sears Service Manager. The Manager apologized and offers me a laundry credit for every 7 days that I'm unable to use my machine but fails to tell me that there is a cap on this laundry credit of $100. I informed the Manager that the time constrains that Sears places on its customers waiting for a Sears Tech to arrive is unreasonable and especially for people who are key employees of their company can't leave their job or are made to wait for hours for Sears to show up. More so, it put my daughter's new job at risk because she had to request 3 separate times off from her job for a Sears appt; of which 2 of the times Sears never showed up and the other time the Tech never fixed the machine. Her employer told her in a joking fashion that she was making a lot of "demands" for a new employee requesting so much time off. The Sears Service Manager apologized and now offered me a Saturday appt. This was news to me, as I was told in the past that appts were only scheduled between Monday-Friday.
Now an appt for Saturday, September 10, 2011 was scheduled for a Sears Tech to install the control board between 8am-12pm. At 9:37am the morning of my appt, Sears left a message on my home phone that they were experiencing a high volumes of delays in the field and would not be at my home during the scheduled time but later. I immediately contacted Sears Service requesting to speak with a Manager but each time I was disconnected. By the fourth call, Sears Service assured me that I would not be disconnected. Well, they did not disconnect me. However, what they did was, instead of connecting me to a Manager, they connected me to another irate customer that was also holding for a Manager.
I finally gave up! The Sears Tech (Jeff) finally came that day and replaced the control board and did a complete diagnostic test of the entire machine and told me that all was good. I proceeded to do wash by the third load the machine was now displaying an F17 code. I contacted Jeff on his cell and informed him of this error code F17. He told me that there is no such thing as an F17 with this washing machine. I was like Jeff I do know how to read and it says F17. I took a picture my washing machine with the F17 code flashing for proof (date and time of picture was 9/10/11 @ 5:37pm). Jeff told me to stop the machine and restart the wash cycle, I did and the same thing again an F17; the wash just stops in the middle/end of the cycle leaving the machine full of water with wet clothes. Jeff told me that I would have to make another appt with Sear Service.
At this point, I am so livid, I contacted Sear Service and told them to just give me a new machine and be done with it already. They informed me of their lemon law that the machine has to have 4 separate problems within a 12 month prior, before they will even consider replacing it. Here's the kicker, ultimately even after the 4th time, it's up to their discretion if they want to replace the machine or not. I am so done with Sears!

We bought a Kenmore Elite washer on February 17, 2011. It was delivered in March. I was very confident in Sears quality. We were surprised when four months later, the machine began making noise and vibrating badly during the spin cycle. We called Sears repair (machine is warranted). They said that a repair tech would be dispatched (for a new machine). The tech came out. The tech determined that a clutch was needed. He ordered the part to be delivered to our home. Two weeks later, the part came. We called and another tech was dispatched week later.
The tech installed the part, but the machine continued the noise and vibration. The tech explained that the repair was the best he could do. A second appointment was scheduled. The tech did not show. I made three calls to finally be told that the tech was "called off the route". What happened to the Sears we knew? If they sold a lemon (sometimes it happens), especially a $1,400.00 lemon, they would not hesitate to replace it to make the customer's money and business count. Now it appears that Sears expects its customers to endure whatever inferior service they receive. Is this a proper way to treat customers?

I paid a new washer to repair the one that is only 16-monts old. A rip off by Kenmore (making such washer) and Sears charging such an amount to fix an appliance bought at Sears store. Stay away from Sears and Kenmore.

I purchased a Whirlpool built HE Oasis Washer, Kenmore brand but Whirlpool constructed. It really is a piece of junk. I paid right at $1,000 in the fall of 2008 and within three months, I needed a service call. Then right after the one year warranty, I needed several parts replaced and now one year after, it has three error codes.
Everyone is recommending the LG machines for everything because they last much longer! I am certainly not going to throw my money away on a Whirlpool appliance any longer. I went through the same thing with our refrigerator and microwave. I bought Whirlpool in 1980 and swore by it. I didn't replace an appliance (purchased washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher) all at the same time in June of 1980. All appliances lasted for 15+ years. Now, Whirlpool doesn't make anything to last! Large appliances are much too expensive to have to replace every three to five years!

I purchased Kenmore Oasis washer in 2007. In 2010, the washer began leaking from bottom. My laundry floor never got wet in front of the washer, so I didn't know there was a leak. The washer is on the second story. It was evidently a slow leak. I started smelling a musty smell in my kitchen (directly under the laundry room). Then, I started noticing brown spots on the ceiling in the kitchen. We just had a major snow storm, so I thought the roof had leaked from ice build up. I called the insurance company. They repaired and paid for the damage even though they could not find a roof leak. They cut holes in the ceiling and used huge fans to dry out the ceiling.
A few months later, I started noticing a musty smell again and noticed more brown spots in ceiling. I called the insurance company again. This time, we decided to check the bottom of the washer. We found the floor was rotted under the washer. The insurance company had to again do the repair work on the ceiling, dry it out and repair the damaged floor in the laundry room. There was around $9000 damage for the 2 repair jobs that insurance paid for. Sears fixed the washer and found a defective part. The insurance company took the part. They said they were going to file a claim against Sears, because the part was defective and the machine was only three years old.
When the repair work was done, I had the repairman put a pan under the washer in case I ever had another leak. Last night, I noticed that the pan is full of water. I called Sears and they said I would have to pay for the service call and all parts. It has just been a year and 3 months since I had the same problem. I explained to the representative that I can't keep paying for repair on the same problem on a washer that is only 4 years old. I asked if there were any recalls. He said he did not know but the repairman might know. This is unacceptable service. I have bought Kenmore products for years and always thought Sears would stand behind their product. I won't buy anything else from Sears. I bought my daughter a washer and dryer from Sears 3 months ago. If I had to do it over, I would have bought it from Lowe's.

I bought the Kenmore front loader washer just over three years ago. During the first year, it has nothing but problems with it.
I had the warranty so Sears came to my house several times to fix it. They said I was using too much soap. I was not; I was using Wisk HE soap and only using the recommended dosage (usually doing less).
They ended up replacing the washer after months of complaining and battling. They made it sound so easy when you buy the warranty that they will back their product 100%. It was a fight to get them to do what they were supposed to. With the new washer, the warranty only transferred to the new washer so it was only covered for the remainder of the warranty.
Now this one is having issues and the warranty is up. Sears makes such crappy front loading washing machines and should not be able to sell them. How is it that I have had two different machines in just over three years and they have both failed me?

Purchased a Kenmore Elit front load washer in April of 2009. By July 26 of 2011, the Motor Control Unit stopped operating on a 2.25 years old machine. A technician came out to tell us the repair would cost $693 + $75 service call charge on a $784 machine, and the part (which basically controls the entire electronic functions of the machine) would have a 90-day warranty. The technician suggested we buy a new machine vs paying the cost to repair our existing, basically near-new machine. After hours of speaking to Sears (and 7 different representatives in different departments all giving us the brush off), we spoke to a gentleman in their Customer Solutions Center who informed us the Motor Control Unit was covered by the exceptional parts warranty, part #818396. Today, the service technician came out to tell us, in deed, the part is NOT covered under the exceptions part warranty. Rather the sensor smart electronic board would be covered under this warranty for only 2 years.
I have no problems paying to repair a machine, but to charge the same cost to repair the machine as it costs to buy a new one, and to have this not be covered under Sears' exceptional parts guarantee is a crime! That means, basically, the cost of the steel/metal and all other internal parts are worth a few dollars - seems like unfair price gouging for a lovely, big square paper weight that no longer functions. Sears has TERRIBLE service, no one had correct answers and they all just wanted to get off the phone and not help. I will NEVER buy from Sears again! The quality is truly substandard. I think their entire service unit is a scam to overcharge for repairs on subpar machines. Just look at the number of complaints Sears gets on their self-manufactured washing machines. The technician even told us the warranties are getting worse and are covering much less if you buy a new one. I trusted the Sears name to mean quality, but they have really gone downhill, in my opinion.

The part is a water level switch, it costs $85 dollars.
It was on back order at the time I looked it up and I will have to wait one week for the part. When it came in, they then told me to call Whirpool. I did, they reconnected me to Sears. It was no surprise since it is an ongoing problem with this model and I have seen it on a few websites already, including this one. They need to recall this product.

We have a 2-year-old Kenmore Elite HE5t front load washing machine. There are 100's if not 1000's of people who have had the same part go bad.
It took me over a month to get the part after searching the internet and calling appliance store (even out-of-state) hoping to find the part. Many of the stores asked me the make and model and as soon as I told them, they knew what the part I needed and that they did not have that part. Oasis HE Kenmore Elite washer has poor service and lack of ownership! We purchased an Oasis HE Kenmore Elite washer from our local Sear store in 2006. At the time of our purchase, we also got the extended warranty for both the washer and matching dryer. We had done loads of homework before our purchase and we were convinced that this was the pair that would meet our needs. Over the past several years, we have had service calls for both the washer and dryer. Unfortunately, I did not call as often as I should have called for service as I am not a complainer, and just try to make things work even if not all parts are doing as needed.
The last straw about our washer happened on June 21, 2011. The washer did its normal beeping noises and my son said, "Mom your washer is at it again". So I tried to make Magic happen once again and force the machine to complete the load of laundry, but my efforts did not work. So reluctantly, I called Sears service at 1-800-469-4663 and to my amazement, they were able to offer service on the following day. I was sure that luck was with us on this issue with the washer, and we would be back-up and running in no time. My son arranged to be off work so that he could meet the service man sometime between 1:00 and 4:00. The service technician did come to the house around 1:30 and supposedly replaced the defective part (the washer's brain) and assured my son that the washer was as good as new. When he called to report the news, I was thrilled and looked forward to getting my laundry caught-up as soon as I got home after 6:00 pm.
I started a load of whites and thought all was good until the dreaded beeping sounds started again. I tried my Magic yet again, but nothing worked. I immediately called Sears service to ask for the technician to correct the issue. After several calls, I requested to speak with a manager, more calls to Sears's service and messages left for a manager. I was still out of luck until Wednesday, June 29. Please remember that I have good white clothes sitting in bleach in a washer that will not work that was serviced and pronounced good as new. I also want to mention that the Sears manager has yet to call me back, not a good customer service. I was also hung up on during one of my calls. I never used profanity or even got nasty. I was only insistent that I needed help.
On Thursday, June 23, I called Sears service yet again and still got lots of run around from everyone. I spoke with a gentleman named Gerald at 9:03 am in the complaints escalation department. I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager but he said, "a manager cannot do any more than I have done" and he refused my request. He finally gave me the address for the corporate office, but refused to give me a number. He stated that there was no number to give me. This is funny as I looked one up on the internet while I was on the phone with him. He lied again! I then proceeded to call the corporate number and talked with Teresa. I was informed that a washer is not an essential appliance and I would have to wait. She did offer however to force a new service time of Monday, June 27. Still no one is willing to own my problem of poor service and washer that will not work.
My husband and I discussed the issue and finally decided that a new washer was our only option. We purchased a new washer from Lowe's on Thursday, June 23. I have washed multiple loads and I am now finally caught-up on my laundry. My next concern is that when my husband and son removed the Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washer, which was pronounced "good as new" the day before from our home, it literally fell apart. I am appalled at how we have been treated as once loyal Sears customers. My home is full of all Sears sold appliances and has been for more than 25 years. I am no longer able to give my hard earned dollars to Sears! What a sad day.

I chose a machine with a dial rather than the new-fangled electronic push-button controls. I thought it would last. I trusted the Sears reputation. Less than two years have passed and the problems have started. The "brain" that tells it how much water to use per load isn't correct. So, I must lift the lid to fool it into putting more water in it.
Also, the dial is messed up. When I turn it to the "start" position, the machine starts agitating, or worse, spinning when it wasn't even filled with water. It is as if the thing is confused. I visited the store I bought from, and was told it was my problem, that I have to call a service man, at my expense. By contrast, the old machine I had was a basic GE top-load washer that cost $300. The appearance of the interior frame was like that of a washer that had been abandoned and exposed in a junkyard for the past two decades. The balancing problems and corrosion were so severe that their own Sears servicemen recommended that I purchase a new washer from Sears, of course. My new tile floor was ruined from the rust and corrosion. Most infuriating, Sears' dishonest Customer Service Department was never forthright in revealing that these high-priced Elite Oasis HE washing machines were overburdened with significant mechanical problems.
My brother-in-law showed me the product reviews for this washer and I was stunned! I called India and spoke with a representative that I could barely understand and who was not listening to me. Maybe she could not understand my English.
