Last summer I bought my elderly father and new stepmother the Kenmore Elite washer/dryer combo for their 1st wedding anniversary presents in their new home and a few months later they told me about a strange smell from mildew. From my own experience with all my washers and especially my Samsung pair, I immediately told them that 99% of the problems of this sort especially with new front loading units is that users make the SERIOUS MISTAKE OF CLOSING THE WASHER DOOR WHENEVER IT IS NOT IN USE!!

Always leave a washer's door as open as possible unless it is absolutely necessary to close it for a short time (for child safety) when not in use! One must always remember that no machine empties itself entirely and at least some little bit of rinse water is always left inside any washing machine. Not allowing it to dry out as fast and completely as possible will result in mold and mildew which is VERY UNHEALTHY! Nobody would build an energy wasting heater to do this job just for the cosmetic pleasure of being able to seal the doors at all times, and even if, the seals would still stay wet anyways!

Having the door open or slightly ajar at very least in a laundry room is no inconvenience and their washer immediately stopped exhibiting any odor problems, without special cleaners or wasting empty bleach-out cycles or any other need for attention! Also remember that if you use those set-back thermostats for your home heating and freeze your laundry room, doing a hot steamy wash in an ice cold washing machine will likely risk frying your appliances computer in short order! A little bit of practical common sense can eliminate a lot of headaches!

We purchased a new washer from Sears in November 2008. This machine will not perform a warm water wash cycle. The water is always cold. The hot water hose is hot but the amount of cold water entering the machine when in the warm cycle seems to overpower the amount of the hot water blend. Sears is selling a product that fails to perform as marketed. This constitutes false advertising. Apparently we are not the only ones with this particular problem as I became aware of after checking consumer complaints on the internet.

Purchased a Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine for $900 in December 2006. 1st year rusted lid - replaced. Drum tearing clothes up at the bottom during spinning - replaced. 2nd year, smart enough to purchase an extended warranty. December 08, computer board out - waiting over a week no parts! Complained multi times - Sears does not care! Told to keep purchasing extended agreement plan. Sears needs a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of all the consumers who are being taken advantage of!

After less than 18 months of use, this Kenmore Elite Oasis HE Top Loading Washer has stopped working; producing the dreaded F51 error code. After researching the matter online it is apparent that some legal action is needed to hold Sears accountable. I found over 100 consumers with the exact or similar problem. This F51 error code seems to indicate a problem with the washer's motherboard or electrical system. What's going on with this very expensive washer - major parts failing after less than 2 years.

Purchased Kenmore HE Canyon washer. Within first 3 months it broke down & had to be replaced. 15 months later it did the F1 beeping like other consumers have experienced. I did not call Sears repair firm - said he couldn't work on those HE washers. Two repair firms suggested I take it to the dump. I called Sears who suggested I buy an extended warranty at about $200 cost. I removed the washer, went to Lowe's bought a cheaper washer and now have spent less time, less money, and have NO problems.

Sears should be ashamed to not back a product that has such lousy reviews. I complained to Sears verbally and in writing, and they simply suggested I allow them to send out the same idiot repair firm who said he couldn't work on those HE machines to begin with. I will no longer purchase appliances from Sears, and I have successfully discouraged 11 other people from doing the same. This is my new crusade.

My husband and I purchased a Kenmore Oasis HE Elite Top Loading washer and dryer in January 2007. 18 years ago, we furnished our whole house with new Kenmore appliances, therefore, we had no reservations about purchasing a Kenmore washer and dryer. We went on what we thought was the higher end to save water and energy. What fools we were and after reading all of the other complaints on the same exact washer I have, it makes my blood boil!!! A year and a half and my washer is now (was) throwing out the F1 code which I was told is the main control board. Called service, appointment was supposed to be between 8-12, the guy called my house at 1:30 pm, he still had two more appointments to make before he could get to me. Finally at 4:00 pm, he calls back and said he knew that he couldn't fix it that day because part would have to be ordered, so bottom line $600.00 to fix. $300 for the part $300 labor? Hmmm.

We ordered the part and my husband put it on in less than 15 minutes. This is highway robbery and the kicker is the main control board didn't fix it. I washed 6 loads that day and the whole time it beeped and now I'm back to where I was; $200.00 part and it's out again. I am floored that Sears/Kenmore is not stepping up to fix these problems and take care of their faithful customers. I am very disappointed in Sears for putting in a call center that sends their calls to another country. I cannot even call the store in Cape Giraudoux without getting that call center. I can say NEVER in this instance... I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER APPLIANCE, TV OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE FROM SEARS and I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT I COME IN CONTACT WITH MY STORY.

I purchased a Kenmore HE4t front load washer and dryer in Nov. 2004 after we finished building our new home. From the start, that washer would have an inch or so of water in the bottom overnight. I was told to shut the water supply off to it. Why? It was new! This problem was never fixed. The clothes (jeans, pants) come out wrinkled and tangled beyond belief.

And finally, for a year after the warranty ran out, we always get a fault code of F11 or DL on the display of the washer every time we attempt to wash clothes. You can hear a relay in the electronics housing clicking. We have had two service calls. $119.00 each time. I was told the motherboard would cost a few hundred dollars to replace plus labor. No more! I'm selling this to a local scrap metal yard for a few bucks and have just purchased an Electrolux front load washer today.

I have only bought Kenmore appliances in the last 20 years. I had a Kenmore dryer that was 3 years old and the motor burned up and to fix it, it would of been about $200.00, so I chose to buy another dryer. I was shocked my dryer only lasted 3 years, being that it was a Kenmore. I called Sears Customer Service and was given an email address to send my complaint in. Well, I did. Their response to me was, we are sorry for the inconvenience, but there is nothing we can do seeing that it was 3 years old. Well, that new dryer I purchased in Dec. of 2007 is now leaking gas internally. My kids were home and smelled gas.

I called Nicor and they found gas leaking from within the dryer compartment and told me to have Sears come out and fix it. OK...this dryer is 10 mos. old. I spent over $400.00 on it and now I have to go through the terror of dealing with the Sears Customer Service/Repair people which is a total nightmare. I will not be buying anymore Sears appliances. I am a single mom who cannot afford to keep having Sears Repair come out and to be buying appliances every year that should be lasting a heck of a lot longer. What happened to the quality of these things? Take my advice...Do NOT buy Kenmore anymore. They do not make them the way they use to. I mean, come on, a gas leak????? That could of killed us.

He rescheduled me for the morning of 10/16/08. Someone called in the morning of the 16th when I was outside in the yard. The phone message said it was Sears and I needed to call them to let them know I was at home. She then rattled off the telephone number one time and her enunciation was not clear. I replayed the message several times but could not understand the number. No one called again and the repairman did not come. I called a general Sears telephone number and was eventually put in contact with someone who said they would have to reschedule the appointment for 10/22. I spoke to a supervisor Rock to complain but he was unsympathetic and refused to allow me to complain to his supervisor.

My husband and I purchased this Kenmore HE2t Front-Loading Automatic Washer (Model # 110.47571600 Ser. # HLT 3658060 Type = 832) in Kitchener, Ontario in November 2006. There have been 2 adults living in this home for the duration of time that we have had this machine. On or about Friday, August 29, 2008 we noticed that the enclosed part was broken and we called Sears to order a replacement part. We were told that there was a back order until September 26, 2008. We can only assume that the back order is due to the fact that there are many other people, like us, with broken parts on this expensive, new machine. Because we cannot wait a month to do laundry, we tried to put the broken part back in the machine and did laundry anyway. The machine is unable to be used without the replacement part.

I purchased a front loading Kenmore washer from Sears in April 2008. Come August 2008, the washer started leaking and fried the machine. One week later a repair man came out and said he had to order the part and would set an appointment for the following Friday (1 week later). Sears called, I confirmed the appointment for that Friday. They called again and I made a nesw appointment (since the one I made the day before was not in the system) and confirmed for that Friday.

My husband took off work and no one showed up for the repair. When I called, they said they never had an appointment for us. I rescheduled for the following week. The repairman put the board in, ran the machine briefly and called it repaired. That weekend I started my laundry and by the second load it was leaking. I called Sears and told them how we could no longer take off from work for this so they scheduled me for the next Saturday.

That Tuesday I received a call from Sears stating that the service man was there attempting to repair the washer. I called back and re-explained how I should have an appointment for Saturday. They said they did not have the appointment so I was made an appointment for the following Saturday (which will be October 4, 2008). My washer is still not fixed and they will not take it back since the 90 day period for returns has passed.

We have gone to the laundromat for the past 4 weeks spending between $22 and $28 a week, took off 1.5 days of work while we pay off a $560.00 machine that does not work.

Washer smells terribly of mold/mildew. Towels have mildew smell embedded in them and afer your drying off and the towel is wet it wrecks. I first thought it was just my kids leaving towels on the floor wet. Huh, little did I know that I see everyone else with a front-loader has the same problem. I have thrown towels out and soaked in bleach...ruining them, in an attempt to get clean laundry from my washing maching.

My bathroom wrecks because you hang a wet towel up to dry after a shower and the smell is amplified. How ridiculous. I think Sears should offer a top loader replacement option. Screw the energy efficiency if I have to soak clothing in bleach, wipe out the washer after each use, make sure to leave door open, (which I do) just to get fresh smelling laundry. Just another scam on the the consumer. And yes I use HE detergent.

Stinky house, stinky towels, stinky body after drying off with wet towel. Can only use a towel once and have to wash it due to smell. Stuffy nose and HA. Spend money on bleach or other cleansing aids. Have seen the recommendations to take the front off my washer and clean out whatever is under there..shouldn't have to go through all the trouble just for laundry!

We purchased a Kenmore/Whirlpool clothes washer on 6/7/07 delivered on 6/14/07. I just discovered an oil leak under the washer last week. The reason I just found it was because I was in the process of throughly cleaning the bathroom/laundry room. My Brother-In-Law, a former Sears repair tech said that this leak looks like it's been there for a while.

I called and was told that this appliance is no longer under warranty. I tried to explain that the problem was more than likely happening before it expired and that I had just discovered it. Response? Too bad, I should've purchased the extended warranty. Would I like to book a service call...$75.00 and take my chances that the actual repair and parts won't cost much. The cost of the repair could quite possibly equal the price of a new washer.

I went to the store and the salesman all but snickered and walked away. Is this [Sear's] idea of customer service or customer reduction program? I'm not amused nor am I ever buying another appliance from Sears. If [they] supply items this expensive that only lasts about a year, I'll go elsewhere and really check out the products for reliability before buying another one. The repairman, who came to our home (4 hours late) yesterday encouraged us to purchase one. Although he cleaned the sensor and the machine works fine now, he would not sell us a plan until we had replaced the faulty part. He openly admitted that the part is faulty and that Kenmore has already engineered a better replacement. However, we are responsible for the purchase despite the fact that the original part is clearly faulty. For the amount of money they want for a repair, we can go out to an appliance store, not Sears, and purchase a new, old-fashioned machine with a life span of 20 years.

Sears/Kenmore will not stand behind this product even though they admit it's defective. We have been told to expect this problem to recur. When that happens, we will replace it. We are already into the machine for about $1000, and I am unwilling to invest further. This expensive lesson has taught us that Sears is unwilling to provide appropriate care to consumers. For about $200 per unit, they could replace the defective piece, avoid lawsuits, and earn indisputable customer loyalty. Instead, they are losing patronage faster than my husband is losing hair!

We have not gotten sucked too far into the economic damage...other than the original exorbitant purchase price and the $65 to have a temporary repair. We will not invest further into a faulty product.

Our Kenmore washer, which is two years old, has been having a problem all month. On August 4, 2008, it would not turn on. The first available service call was more than a week later on August 13 which I took. The repair tech came and hooked up the computer and said the washer was fine. That the issue was the washer was plugged into a GFI outlet and according to the manufacturer it could not be. Weird since nothing anywhere on our paperwork or when we purchased it indicated such a thing and we had used it for two years utilizing that outlet. He left, we plugged into another outlet nearby which we used for our dryer.

Needless to say, problems still existed. Called back right away and was told that they would contact the tech and send him back that day. We heard nothing and no one came. Next day, called again, after two calls and a talk to a supervisor got a new appointment for Friday, August 15, 2008. Service techs come and run their computer and tell us the washer is fine - there are no problems. That afternoon, I go to do laundry and washer will not turn on. Called service line and was told that they would have the technician call back within the hour and come back out (heard that one before).

I called back 1 hour and 15 minutes later and was told that would not happen and put on hold for 35 minutes to wait for a supervisor. I called back on another line (third call that day) while this was happening and was put on hold for another 20 minutes waiting for a supervisor. Hung up from that call, and called back again (call #4 for the afternoon) and got someone who informed me it was too late for them to come out that day best they could do was August 20, 2008 from 8am to 5pm. They indicated a unit manager would call me back within 24 hours, 5 days later I'm still waiting on that.

This morning, August 20, I called as instructed on Friday to get a feel for where our house was on the schedule. Believe it or not, they tell me I'm not scheduled for service. After three transfers, three more holds while they talk to routing they basically tell me no way anyone is coming out today. Best they can do (because I've already missed three days from work and can't be here on Aug 29) is Sept. 6. I'm infuriated by the lack of regard for their customers particularly after the fact that they have been here two times already and failed to resolve this issue.

We purchased the Kenmore 417 series about 5 1/2 years ago. It has started making tremendous noise during the spin cycle. I bought new bedding for my daughter and washed it only to have it all come out at the end of the cycle stained and smeared with brown goo. I have washed them several times with various stain removal products but they are truly ruined. Other clothing has been stained as well and is unwearable even after several washing (so much for saving water).

I have gone on line and found many with the same trouble. It seems that it is a common problem in which a seal fails allowing wash water in and grease out. I have called Sears service and have gone into the store. Everyone at Sears whom I spoke to denies knowing of any sort of trouble. One salesman told me that the average life of a washing machine is 10 years so some people get more, some less! The cost of repairs, sending a tech to evaluate the problem and then scheduling the service with 2 technicians--too heavy for one is surely close to the cost of a new machine.

Has anyone had any luck getting these machines replaced or even getting Sears to acknowledge and stand behind their product? The bedding that was ruined included sheet set, duvet cover and shams. The cost of this set alone was around $300.00. I cannot put a price on the other towels and clothing--especially anything light colored that has to be thrown in the trash. I will never, ever recommend Sears or Kenmore products to anyone.

I purchased Kenmore front loader washer and dryer from Sears with full warranty on both items. On Sunday Aug 17 I called for a repair for the washer which is something I do now on a monthly bases because the washer is always breaking down. Well I called for the repair and I was told the earliest day was Wed Aug 20 8a-12n. The water again spilled on my carpet and starting to mildew,I took a day off work for the repair, and no one has shown up. I called back to Sears and told the agent it was then still in the morning about 8:30a and stated I never gotten a call the evening before to confirm the appointment and today is Wed Aug 20 and I knew it was still early but wanted to make sure the tech was coming.

The agent confirmed the appointment for today and even stated he would call the tech to have him call me when he's on his way. 12noon came and still no repair. I called back to Sears to see what's going on.That's when I was told my appointment is not until Wed Aug 27 8am-12n. I'm furious because that's not what I was told when I called to make the appointment and not to mention I've taken a day off work. Sears attitude is we are Sears accept it and get over it. It took me 5 or 6 agents to speak with a supervisor by then 1 hour had gone by. I just want to be treated fair and like I matter after spending over $3,000 with Sears.

I've lost a full day's pay of $125,washer is still not repaired, the water from the washer spilled on to my white carpets and mildew, and I was not treated with the respect and compasion as a person not to mention a customer of Sears. Instead, their attitudes are they are Sears, accept it and get over it.

I had laundry in the tub, and could not get in the tub because of the locked lid. (EVERYTHING IS ELECTRICAL) After calling a service man (the local service man said NO WAY on working on this specific machine)be aware they book out 1 week.

I called the friday they were supposed to come out, and I wasn't even on his list. He was to come between 11-1, and he came at 4:55. He assesed the washer, saying it was electronic and the panel. (no, really?) It would be another week to get the parts (UPS'd to my house????)and hopefully, we'd get this fixed. In the meantime, I'd been fighting with EVERY person at SEARS.

I want a refund on a machine that I paid top dollar for, and it quit on me a little after a year. I was offered a $50 gift card @ SEARS. ARe you serious? The only time I'll step foot in a SEARS is to tell the consumer NOT to buy thier products. Meanwhile, I bought the warrantee, thinking it was the best way to go @$214. NOT. The parts never came, and I spent over and above $300 on laudry mats. That's a good total for a BRAND NEW washer!!!!

In April I replaced my old Kenmore washer and dryer with a Kenmore Elite Oasis HT washer and a Kenmore Elite Oasis ST dryer. I had had good service out of the old ones, but wanted something new. Mistake! I should have kept the old dryer as it was much better than the new one.

I just did a load of sheets and towels and, as usual, things got wound up in the sheets and were not dry when the rest of the load was. Also things are very wrinkled when they come out of the dryer. I know it has a steam setting, but I didn't expect to have to use it except to refresh other items before wearing them. I have used Kenmore products for years and have always trusted their quality. This one I will not recommend to my friends.

Every year for the past 6years I have had the same problem with this washing machine. Today was the final straw when I was quoted over $372 dollars worth of repairs, the Ironic part is that this was my first year without warrenty and this is the normal price that I will pay for the warrenty. I also had my kenmore refrigerator repaired today se well not a good day for Kenmore. Records from sears will show my constant calls and I wish Sears would have told me during the warrenty period that I neede to get a new machine. I will hate to believe that I was a part of any consumer fraud.

The poor design has cost me alot as the plate collects all the material in the machine and the pump warrenty is only 3 months this does not help me when I have had the same problem every year. I was giving Kenmore this last time but I have to break down and purchase a new washing machine. Not PLEASED at all.

I purchased a Kenmore Oasis washer in may of 2006. In the last month the washer started beeping for no reason.I researched the problem online and found that many others were facing the same issue. I called Sears who referred me to the Kenmore people who sent me back to Sears. Finally after calling the recall line I was told they were doing upgrades to my particular model and they would send someone out to fix it free of charge.

After waiting a week for service I was told that the part that needed to be replaced was the interface board, which was not the part covered by the recall. I was given an estimate of $364 dollars and charged $70 for the service visit. I refused to pay the bill and called the recall line back to confirm that I was not to be charged. I was put on hold for 34 minutes to be told that I was going to be charged. I was then told to write an email if I was still dissatisfied. I got an email back telling me to call a number and also asigned a case number. I called and spoke to a representative that listened to my case, although I had just explained everything in an email, and put me on hold. Before I knew it he had transfered me back to the recall line.

I explained everything again to the representative on the recall line and after being placed on hold again was told a manager would have to get in touch with me. No one has called me back. I ordered the part online so I could do it myself and was told it would arrive 2 days ago, just checked and of course it is backordered until September 1st.

I have been without a washing machine for almost a month which has been a huge inconvenience and could possibly have to pay a bill for the service technician that came to evaluate a problem that they said would be payed for.

We constantly get the DL and F11 codes, constant beeping, machine locks and locks our clothes inside, wont start at times, rattles when spinning.

Was told the circuit board is faulty on the machine and paid twice for them to be replaced, only to have the circuit board fail once again. Sears cust svc is dreadful! They won't give answers, help you or constantly pass you on to someone else. I even wrote the CEO of Sears, filed numerous complaints and never heard a word back. I purchased a Kenmore front loading stackable washer approx 6 years ago. Last week in started making an unbearable loud noise during the spin cycle. I could not get a Sears repair person to come for an entire week so I called an independent company. They diagnosed it as having faulty bearings and spider arms (the part that holds the drum together. I also found out that the drum is made of stainless steel and the arms are made of aluminum. Steel and aluminum are incompatible and eventually break down over time depending on use. The repair cost is around $600 which makes it not worth it - with or without a warranty.

I have since discovered hundreds of documented cases with the identical problem. Sears is refusing to take any responsibility and seem to be fine selling defective merchandise. ( I believe that legal recourse is warranted for a situation like this and I am prepared to hire an attorney. At this point Sears has been behaving like a corrupt 3rd world company rather than a long-standing US corporation).

I purchased a Kenmore HE front load washer and pedestal stand in Sept 05. The items cost over $1000. The washer was installed by sears and it has been a nightmare experience. First I called to complain that the machine was developing rust spot and rattling to much on spin cycles. A service man was sent and said that the rattle was because the washer was not INSTALLED PROPERLY on the base (pedestal)and he adjusted it, the rust he said is because I use too much bleach? I said that that was not true since the machine has a dispenser that you fill and it dispenses it once the machine starts!

Any way he replaced a holding ring (that is a very thin wire ring around the rubber seal ring in the inside of the the machine which was rusted as well. This is the rubber seal between the door and the drum. I told him that I believed the rust was due to the improper installation that caused the dispensing of the the bleach and fabric softener to not do it properly. Anyway the machine gets service and works other than the rust!

Now on Saturday July 19th the machine is not working- the rubber ring on the inside of the machine is twisted and will not sit properly and therefor you can not close the door to the machine properly! It sticks and the machine computer panel will light up but not go on- I assume that is because its computer sensor is saying the door is not right but I won't know for sure until I get Sears to come in a look at it. So we attempt to call and schedule a repair. We finally confirm a date of Saturday July 26 for a repair date via phone and I not knowing that my husband has secured a date, had also received a date-Saturday Aug 9th-via online booking.

On Friday July 25th at 8PM we get a call that they are not coming tomorrow. After a couple of hours of phone calls and aggravation we are told by the phone attendant that we will get service as originally scheduled- July 26 between 8am and 12 noon, and that we are also sch. for Saturday Aug 2 as well. At 12:30 we called to ask what was happening and told that no one is coming - reason they don't have the part! Now I don't know what part they can be speaking of since the machine was not looked at by the service man to determine what is wrong!

Again after several phone calls and department I am told that I have an appointment for August 9th! My original email appointment! In my opinion is a faulty product and Sears simply give lip service and doctor their records each time you call! You are told one thing and they do as they please. This is not the only problem I have had with major appliances I have recently purchased from them but it is the most current and urgent one at this time.I have been a loyal customer of Sear Kenmore products but no longer!

I have had to go to a laundry mat to do my laundry which is costing me over $70 a week to do it, not to mention the inconvenience and expense of getting to and from the laundry mat plus my time! I work full time and have a family so I now have to fit this into my weekly errands. Plus this was an expensive item that should last at least 6 years yet I have an non working item that I have to have pay AGAIN to repair , that I have yet to see what the cost of that is going to be!

Last week it started malfunctioning and exhibiting error codes LD and OB. Despite many attempts such as unplugging the unit, rebalancing clothes, trying an additional spin cycle, it still does not work properly.

After reading a significant number of similar complaints about this machine and finding that at least one (if not several other) class action lawsuit had been filed that included only washers purchased before October 15, 2004, I am concerned that these problems are still unresolved. So because I purchased my washing maching 3 months after the class action lawsuit time period coverage, and am experiencing the exact same problems that others who were included in the class action lawsuit experienced, I have no recourse? A washing machine of this caliber should last 10-15 years, not 3.

I currently have a $70 service appointment scheduled for next week and am prepared for what I'll be told based on others who have already been down this path with this washing machine. I refuse to throw good money after bad. I was told the bugs were fixed prior to my machine's manufacturing date. Obviously not if I'm having the same issues that triggered a recall!

This set costs over $2500 and neither Sears or Kenmore is willing to stand behind the product with a known recall product because the bugs were supposed to be worked out prior to my machine's manufactured date! Now on Sears' website -- you can't even order the control unit assembly because it's not only backordered, but there is a little disclaimer saying that the part is not even the original manufacturer's part, just a reasonable replacement. I am very upset that we spent such a significant amount of money for a product and it barely lasted a year!

It showed a malfunction code code of F32, whgich no-one in Sears or the Sears repair center knows what it means. It does however prevent the machine from working. I called the repair center on Friday, 20 June 2008 to set up an appointment. They said a repairman would be out on Wednesday, 25 June 2008, between 12:00pm and 3:00pm. When the repairman did not show by 3:00pm on that Wednesday, I called the repair center and they told me that they had no record of me ever calling. I rescheduled for Monday, 30 June 2008, and the repairman was supposed to show between 8:00am and 12:00pm. Again, no show.

On Wednesday, 25 June 2008 when they told me that they had no record of me calling, I called the local Sears store where I bought the washer from and, after about 20 minutes of having to keep calling back due to the phone in the washer dept. just kept ringing until it disconnected, I finally spoke to one of the washer sales persons, the one who sold the washer to me was not available. He said he would have to call me back. He never did. On Monday, after the repairman failed to show once again, I called the repair center and was told that their repairman was running behind schedule, and that they would have him call me to let me know when he would be here. That was at 12:15pm. By 2:00pm, I still had not heard from the rapairman.

I had started calling the local store at 11:30 on Monday, 30 June 2008, and this time, after being put through the same routine of being transferred to the appliance dept. and no-one answering the phone, gwetting hung up on again and again for about 30 minutes, (about 15 calls all together), I finally was able to talk to manager, who was the cashiers manager. She said she would talk to someone and call me back. That was around 1:00pm. Again, by 2:00pm I still had not heard and am still waiting for anyone from Sears to call.

We have had to make several trips to a local laundry mat to wash clothes, which costs us between 10 to 15 dollars each trip (we have made 5 trips already.) not to mention the gas it takes. I have taken two days off from work already and still cannot use the washer that I paid Sears over one thousand dollars for four months ago. Does Sears not stand behind its products anymore? I bought a Kenmore washer/dryer back in late December of '07. A month and a half ago it started to trip my circuit breaker. A technician came out 3 Saturdays ago (with the hours at work that I keep, I have to schedule for Saturdays). Stood there, looked at it, turned it on for a few minutes and said, I don't see anything wrong with it. Seems fine to me. After he left I tried doing another load...to no avail it tripped again. I called back, they scheduled for the following Saturday. Which was this past Saturday (5/31/08).

This tech was not at all happy. It couldn't have made it more obvious. Talking in a mono tone, maybe one smile.I told him many times it only tripps when there is a load of laundry in there. He proceeds to turn the dryer on EMPTY. Test this, test that. Stand there thinking. Then he tells me he is going to replace the motor (it's under warranty thank God) and takes a very short time to put it in. He said if I have any more problems to call. So he left and I put the wet clothes into the dryer and it finished that cycle. When I put in another load it tripped...twice. A third load it tripped twice.

I call back that same day (these so called customer service reps need to adjust their attitude) This customer service woman told me she had put in a message to the tech to call me. He never did. So while at work this morning I called AGAIN and with good obvious reason I had a huge attitude with them. Told her the problem, got the I'm sorry and proceeded to schedule ANOTHER tech to come out to ruin yet another Saturday. I said, Why can't I just haul it in my truck back to the store and get a new one? She said, The tech needs to decide if you need a new one and you would also need 4 MORE COMPLAINT CALLS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.

I've called 4 times as it is. Then I proceeded to tell her, Oh, so this is why Sears has such terrible customer service! Another sorry from someone who clearly wasn't. I have had it and will NEVER give Sears my services again. Not for appliances, clothing...nothing.

In July of '07 our 5 year old Kenmore front load washing machine (I believe model 40412)started staining our clothes with horrible "oil" stains. Prior to this happening we were having other issues with the machine that I believe are interrelated. The machine stops mid cycle and sucks in, and then pours out water, over and over and over again. It will not rectify itself on it's own. If I do not catch it, it will continue to do this for hours until I turn it off, reset the dial and start it over again...and even then sometime I will come back to the machine only to find it hasn't advanced at all.

While this is occuring the clothes are either being stained or tye-dyed! If the clothes are dark they get an ugly tye dye effect and if the clothes are light they either get splotches of oil or streaks of oil. I contacted Sears and told them my problem was two-fold and that I thought the they went hand in hand. They told me there was nothing wrong with the machine, and that they couldn't get it to replicate my problem with the machine not advancing. They also told me that the other issue was my problem, that I don't keep my machine "clean", which is not true as I run a clear load once a week with just bleach & water.

I tried to explain that even if I were throwing dirt clods in with the clothes they should not come out with grease stains on them that NOTHING will get out! I have poured straight bleach on the items to show them that it is not "grime buildup" as they claim! Since July of '07 they have been out to my house to "repair" this machine at least 6 times. I am so frustrated that I have yet another load of ruined clothes I could just scream. I paid for a machine, paid for an "extended warrenty" (which isn't worth the paper it is written on because the repair person doesn't have to "repair" anything...he just has to say there is nothing wrong...even though he's seen the clothes... and just walk away!)

I've had to pay for all the replacement clothes that have been ruined and have missed more time off of work than I care to remember...not to mention all the time I have spent on the phone with Sears "customer service" (which should be renamed "customer dis-service!) and what do I have? A machine where clothes come out dirtier than when they went in and an incredible amount of disdain for Sears! They may be a 100+ year old company but if they keep treating customers the way I have been treated they will be lucky to be around 10 years from now! This letter does not even begin to express the frustration I feel over this situation and Sears lack of response to rectify these problems. I will NEVER purchase another item, big or small from this company or any of it's subsidiaries!!!

I bought a set of Kenmore Elite HE4 washer & dryer on November 26, 2005, paid $2,322.63 for the set. I bought Kenmore because I had Kenmore washer & dryer that lasted me over 20 years. They were still working fine when Sears hauled them away. I wanted to be a good citizen and upgraded to more energy and water-efficient units. I started to get and F and H code on my washer panel, indicating water intake problem. I check the hose, the filter and the water pressure. Everything was fine. I canceled & restarted the cycle and it would run again. This probably started within the 2-year control board warranty period. But I thought, just like a computer, sometimes problems can resolve themselves by turning the computer off and on again.

Then the same problem happened more frequently, and now the same codes will come on and won't work anymore. A very surely serviceman came (after 2 cancellations),charged me $72 and told me that it will cost me $364.72 for a new computer board and $163.00 to install it. We are a retired couple who only wash maybe two loads of clothes every 3 weeks or so, we never overload and always used the HE soap. We actually take our heavy stuff to the laundromat.

We went to Sears to complain. We were told that the washer is 2 years old, as if it is an old piece of junk already! The manager presumably called the manufacturer and was told there had been no complaint about the washer and therefore there's nothing they can do for me (but tried to sell me an extended warranty). I went on this consumer affair website and found 15 complaints on Kenmore washers and 42 complaints on Sears_washers so far in 2008! They do not sell the HE4 anymore, but there's no recall either. This is so frustrating! What can consumers do to get recourse? Help!

After slightly over 2 years, the washer that I paid $1,399.99 plus tax for is no longer working even though it looks brand new. I am not willing to pay $527.72 to have it fixed, especially not knowing when and how the new control board may go out again. I am more than happy to have a simple machine without electronics but they don't sell that old fashion stuff anymore. We are retired people on fixed income. I requested a loaner or replacement machine, which they denied, stating You are past the 3-month warranty window. The part is back-ordered from overseas. We will try to get the part sooner at another vendor and will let you know by next Tuesday. That is all we can do.

During this process I spoke with 4 different Sears employees and all of them referred me to other departments, including the store manager. I finally told them it was their responsibility to resolve this issue amongst themselves and I was not calling anyone else there. I originally purchased the washer for $951.74, and it was delivered the next day; but they cannot repair it for almost 3 weeks? And they are unwilling to exchange it or even loan a machine?

BUYERS BEWARE of Sears Kenmore washers with their poor machine performance, inadequate parts replacement inventory, and even worse customer service. Sear service couldn't care less. They finally sent someone to the house to inspect it. Their final report is that even thought the unit is only 3 years old the rust problem is cosmetic & therefore not covered under any warranty. I argue that its a design flaw, but to no satisfaction.

Both of these appliances are pieces of junk. My old machines were over 25 years old & worked with no problem! We were trying to be energy efficient by getting newer models. Should have stuck with the old ones! We have had a Sears credit card for over 35 years, We will never use it again...or shop in any Sears store.

On May 2, 2008, I called the Kenmore Repair center to report that my washing machine would not spin the clothes properly on any o fthe spin cycles. The repair center advised me that the transmission had gone out in my 4 year old washing machine and it would cost me approximately $375 or more to get it repaired, or I could purchase a warranty for $250 that would cover the parts for the repair!!!

This machine was delivered new to this address, and is used in a household of 2 middleaged professionals, who wash about 5 normal loads a week, no heavy duty or extra dirty loads (mostly sheets, towels, underclothes and a few shirts.) The machine is never overloaded, or out of balance. We feel that this product should not have broken this quickly with so little use. WE will not buy Kenmore appliances again.

Good many clothes have been ruined by the stains that don't seem to be able to be cleanable. Loss of use of washer and rip-off from paying large sum of money for defective machine. Repair cost is almost same as what we paid for it and, based on many complaints of others on same machine, no reason to think a high repair bill is short of throwing free money to Sears. After 10 years of using Kenmore washer/dryer combination it was time to upgrade to the latest HE2 to save on water and electric bill. Based on a good experience, we decide to go again with Kenmore and paid around $1500. The washer is a junk, problems with the front seal, water liking, smells bad. A couple of month after the warranty expired, all lights came up. Called SEARS and they offer $300 for a service. Searching on the web I found a similar article and it was due to a kid's sock going to the drain pump. How could that happened? What design is that?

Now again a different F21 code. Searching on the web people were pointing to clogged connectors or pressure switch. Checked and everything was cleaned and finally decided to purchase the switch. Called SEARS and their delivery time was 15 days due to backorder. Ordered on line, cheaper and faster delivery. Replace it but same thing. Others are pointing to motor or motor control board. After a couple of years of not a heavy using of this machine, it looks like too many problems for a top of the line washer. In my opinion it is a too cheap design and construction. I was inspecting the electrical connection and they are a joke, how easy they could be unplugged do to movement. Found this site and decided to write my experience.

A lot of time searching on the web for solutions since SEARS response was a $300 deal. Purchase of a Pressure switch for $50. A lot of time checking all connections and trying to solve the problem. The Washer still broken.

About 15 months after I purchased the Kenmore Oasis Canyon capacity washer, I had to replace the Interface Relay. Through multiple contacts with Customer Service, then a BBB complaint, I had to pay $170 for the fix and took 2 days off work. This is a known problem with the Kenmore Elite washers and still they won't fix it for free. Now my dryer won't start and I see on all the message boards that this is another known defect. I'll have to take another day off work (possibly two) and pay the $300 repair cost (per the websites with similar problems).

Like most of the other complainants, I saved up a lot of money to buy top of the line washer/dryer and they are much less reliable and much more costly than GE products. They have repeatedly told me to pay $129 a year to prevent the added costs of repairs and I'm frustrated by what I see as extortion. I detest the financial cost and having to take time off of work for this.

I purchased a Sear's Kenmore Elite washer. From the beginning, the fast spin cycle would not work without making a horrible noise. I did all the balancing requirements (more than a few times) which did no good at all. After about two years, it got so bad that I knew it was going to stop working; and then it stopped agitating as well. I had a repairman come out, and the cause was a loose screw on the motor bracket--and eventually the motor fell out and hit the floor.

The motor and gear were under a five year warranty, so I only paid for the part (a screw) which cost $175. That is no typo: that is what it cost to put the bracket and motor back in. I couldn't wash clothes for a month, but I managed by washing most things in the sink. Manufacturers don't have to take responsibility for their product anymore because they make you take on that responsibility with expensive, useless warranties and expensive repairs.

We did not purchase the extended warranty because we didn't think after spending as much as we did that we would have these problems so soon. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Anyway a repairman visited us one time and cleaned out a trap in the back and charged us 70 dollars. He told us that if it happened again that we would need a part that costs at the very least 400 dollars. Right now my husband is laid off since sept and I am the only one working. They finally felt it was not repairable, and since I had the extended warranty, finally agreed and replaced it with the HE3t.

Only problem now is that the machine is doing the same thing. It starts to pull in the cold water first, and then pulls in the hot water. If I shut off the hot water valve, the machine does not work. Has anyone had this problem? When the technician called his tech support for help, they suggested that my water may be too cold. We bought a Kenmore Elite Oasis HE in the fall of 2006. The control panel suddenly broke. I called Sears and explained what had happened, and they said it had been over a year and my warranty had expired but convinced me to purchase a new one year warranty for $214. When the Sears repair man got here he took a quick look at the washer and said that I needed a new Interface Board (which he would have to order and would take another 5-7 days)--and that it would cost $148.38 for the part and $132.00 for labor. This cost would be covered by the new warranty that I had just purchased. I asked if this was a common problem because he seemed to know exactly what was wrong with the machine after about 1 minute. He said they have seen it a lot and that there was a defect in the first generation of interface boards that were installed in the Kenmore Oasis HE machines.

I of course then asked if Sears would be covering the cost for me seeing as it was a known defect in their machine. The guy said that Sears would not cover the cost because they had not recalled the machine. He said that it is known to Sears that there are defective first generation interface boards out there that are breaking and they are not recalling those machines simply because they don't want to have to pay for replacing the boards! They want the consumers to instead pay the extra $214 for the extended warranty on top of the $800 that we already paid for the machine--not to mention all of the money I have to spend at the laundromat washing laundry for a family of 5! I think that Sears should replace the defective interface boards (considering that they know about the defect) at no cost to the consumer, and compensate for the laundromat fees $100, plus).

So I refused, called customer service while he was still present, and he explained to them that the machine was defective and he had no idea how to fix it. the representative took all the info from my sales receipt and ordered another washer and kit to be delivered. When the delivery men came two days later, they had no kit so they couldn't hook up the washer and dryer. They wanted to leave the washer in the middle of the floor, and I refused because it is a brand new house and carpet. We called the customer service line; a rep told me I never purchased a kit so therefore they weren't responsible, even though I had the receipt to prove it. We were back and forth, and he hung up the phone on me, and the drivers just took off with the washer without saying a word. No one told me what to do, who to call, where is my washer; I just sat there with a defective washer.

I called the delivery center and was treated with total disrespect. A woman came on the phone, researched my order and found that the kit was not on the truck as promised. She told me that they would have the driver get a kit and come back later that day--but would call in 20 minutes to give a delivery time. No one called. I called back and was told to reschedule. It was scheduled then for that Sat. morning. I get a call Fri. night and am told they have no kit, but it will come by UPS in 5 days.

The warranty ran out, and then my wife was complaining washer was not working correctly. Later on it was sqeaking badly. So,I am mechanically inclined and decided that I will fix this unit. Upon removing the front panel I found a few broken plastic parts which was a pin that held the shock absorber in place that was not connected--and which made my unit work but not work correctly. Since it ran this way it put a lot of pressure on the rear bearing and starting spitting out grease on the inside of the unit; and then the pulley cut into the back of the tub and made a real mess. I feel due to my professional opinion and experiences that the pin was faulty upon repair and can prove it was bad. Sears should replace my unit due to faulty repair and part. Although this unit is out of warranty, and I am out of luck, I just wanted to post my situation about Sears and their repairs.

The damage is that the pin that held the shock absorber for the washer in place should have been replaced with a new one or maybe it was not even connected. The pin was found towards the back of the machine with splattered grease on it and if it was correctly installed grease would have not came in contact with it.

We purchased a Kenmore Model 417 washer approximately five years ago. Since that time it has required a new pump, and today the service tech informed us the sealed main bearing is bad. That is $516.14 + $68.58 service call.

I am in the new home business, and will not recommend Kenmore.

I have the infamous Kenmore Calypso HE Washer and am aware of the Class Action Settlement on the product. Also,I do not comply with the settlement requirements by approximately two months. I did purchase the extended Master Protection Agreement (through 4/2008) because of the expected uncertainty of the washer's future performance. I have has at least three documented service repairs since December 2004 due to continued failures with the water pump and motor and continued damage being done to clothing articles, I am requesting a full refund and/or replacement with an other than Calypso type washer from Sears.

I have had the worst smell of mold in my house and on my and my family's clothes since around March 06'. It all originates in the washing machine. It is a front loading Kenmore Elite. I have had 6 service calls into Sears under my appliance protection plan. I have had conversations with multilple people representing Sears at various locations, ie repair scheduling, cust. service, etc etc. And still no remedy. For months now I have been told to cut back on the amount of detergent we were using,(it is approved he detergent),we were told to run our washer numerous times with only hot water and bleach. It seems now we are busier washing the washer than clothes.

Technicians have come and changed the boot which was covered in mold, a pump that had no visible mold, and on other visits told me there was nothing they can do, and that i should just keep running the empty hot water and bleach cycle. My last contact was today (August 3 2006) with a gentleman named Donte at Sears National Customer Service. To paraphrase him there is no solution other than for me and my family to deal with it.

So far not much other than frustration. We can't afford to buy new towels and clothes every week. we have thrown away numerous baby clothes, towels, and bedding in an effort to protect my two year old. Some of my and my wife's clothes have been damamged. We have tried numerous methods of diluting bleach and running it with our color clothes so that when we get dressed and go to work, or out to eat, or anything that our clothes don't smell of mold. And as far as my house, who knows. On some days the entire downstairs smells of mold. And everyday the washer, laundry room, and any clothes that have been washed reek of mold.
